I've been giving my Mini Dachshund Taste of the Wild for about five years now. It was recommended to us by one of the vets that we see. We’ve been told by our vet that the grain-frees are good, but some grain is actually good for the dog too. We mix Taste of the Wild with Royal Canin, the one that’s made for Dachshunds, at half and half. My dog eats any of the food that doesn't have salmon, because she gets a stinky butt when she eats salmon, so we usually stick to the venison mix one.

My Pit bull has been eating Taste of the Wild since he was a puppy. Maximus Blue is now three and Taste of the Wild keeps him fit. He's pretty muscular. He eats about four cups of the bison flavor once a day. I spend at least $60 a month on his food alone, though. I have five other dogs and he’s the only one that’s full-blooded. The rest of them are just mixed mutts. I’ve got two little Chihuahua Mix puppies that eat Taste of the Wild too when they get hungry enough. My dogs are doing great on it.

The experience with Taste of the Wild has been good except they have had some issues with different flavors. My dog rejected a different flavor and I woke up to him puking bile and blood one night. So, I stopped feeding it and I dumped it. I switched the two Huskies back to the red bag and yellow bag, and they are doing fine.

My dogs love the Taste of the Wild. I got a blue nose pitbull and then a Siberian husky slash pitbull, and I feed them around three times a day. The store that sells the food over here was awesome and they do a great job.

I have a cat that has a sensitive tummy and I've been using Taste of the Wild for her for about six months. She was a bottle-fed baby and there are certain foods she would puke on. She still pukes with eating this because she eats too fast but it's a lot better than any of the other brands. I have three cats and they all love Taste of the Wild. We use the Canyon River and usually do more of the bagged food. We do the canned as treats every couple of weeks.

I've got a 10-year-old Labrador mix, an 11-year-old huskie mix, and an 8-year-old beagle mix. I've used Taste of the Wild for five years and I usually give them the Roasted Fowl. They like that flavor. Hopefully, Taste of the Wild would keep my dogs alive longer. I’ve recommended it to friends.

My Dachshunds like Taste of the Wild. I chose the dog food because of the ingredients, but I haven’t really noticed any difference in their coat or activity. I had four dogs but I’ve got one now, and he’s gonna be 16 next month. So, he’s activity level is not that great. I'm using the All Age. He likes it, so I keep feeding it to him.

I have an old dog that has cancer and Taste of the Wild is doing better for him. We tried a couple others, and with Taste of the Wild, he's not shedding as bad. He's getting better. I have two labs - a black one and a yellow one. Their names are Oz and Buddy and we wanted to do lamb and rice for them. We tried that one and my dogs really liked it, so we stuck with it. We've now gone to the raw diet, but we used Taste of the Wild for at least four years. I told people to get it too.

We absolutely love Taste of the Wild. Growing up, my parents always had dogs and their dogs always had countless meals of whatever was cheapest at the store. The dogs always developed allergies. I was very concerned about giving my dog the best product to ensure that he lives a long life. I live by an Ace Hardware store and Taste of the Wild was one of the big products there. I was very interested in the grain-free, which was one of the main things that led me to the product. Plus, it was something that was recommended by my veterinarian.
My dog is a male Border Collie French Brittany. He had puppies with my parents’ dog and we kept one. She is a French Brittany Border Collie Australian Shepherd mix. With Taste of the Wild, their coats are healthy and they have a great temperament. But recently, they don't like the salmon flavor. They love every other one though. I use a different flavor every time I buy food to give them variety and they like it. They're used to that. I’ve been really impressed with the products and my dogs love it. I’d recommend Taste of the Wild to everybody.

I've been feeding my dogs with Taste of the Wild for about three years as recommended by a vet. Our Shih Tzu had dry skin and food allergy on something that we were feeding them. So, we have him on the wild fowl mixture and he’s doing well. We were able to see a difference within the first three weeks. He’s now around seven and I'm keeping him on that one. We’ve been doing well with Taste of the Wild, so I appreciate it.

Our dog, a half-standard poodle and a quarter-Pyrenees and a quarter-Anatolian, has very severe food allergies. She’s allergic to grains. She’s allergic to almost every protein -- chicken, beef and pork. The fish variant of Taste of the Wild is one of the few things that her body doesn’t seem to reject. It is the only dog food that so far hasn’t caused her any super bad reactions that she can eat. She still has to take medicine for the allergies. But we don’t have any problems with her coat or her skin being dry or anything like that.

My husband did a research and said that Taste of the Wild was the best one. We’ve been feeding our dog with that for three years now. We give him a salmon-flavored one, which he prefers. It’s a little pricey, but he seems to like it. We know it’s a good product. He’s getting good nutrition and it makes him healthier.

My first rescue dog was brought home 5 years ago. He was in foster care and the mom, who has a bulldog experience, recommended Taste of the Wild. I didn’t wanna mess it up knowing how sensitive their systems could be, so we've been using Taste of the Wild for our dogs since that time. As we also got a second dog, both of our dogs are on the same food. We purchase the grains-free formulation and it’s the Pacific Northwest with the salmon and sweet potato. I’ve been staying constant because the dogs tend to be hot in general, and I’ve learned that different proteins have different effects on the dogs. I’ve also learned that my older one is very sensitive to soy products of any kind, so I don’t divert from one food. I’ve ordered the dog food offline one time, but with the extras, the weight, and the loading stuff, it’s better I’m in a frequent buyer plan. I then get the dog food at a local pet supply.

We've been using Taste of the Wild for a long time. Our dog is a Newfoundland and a Pekingese. He’s a large type breed, seven, and still really healthy, which is good. There was that report that came out about green dog foods and heart disease but I can’t feed my dog garbage either. He’s got allergies so Taste of the Wild has been perfect for us.

I feed a 20-pound dog and a 45-pound youngblood. One is older and one is younger and there's a constant battle of trying to find a good food for both of them. I work with a guy who is part-owner of a pet store and he brought me samples. I like how Taste of the Wild is made. There's not a lot of meal in it. Plus, both of the dogs seem to like Taste of the Wild and they do well with it.

I like Taste of the Wild. It's going over a month now that I'm using it and I am very happy with it. I don’t mind how much it costs. The main thing is that my dog eats it. I was buying other dog food that was a lot more money, but my dog doesn’t like it. She turned her nose up at it. I’ve also noticed she’s not scratching like she was before. I think she doesn’t have any allergies to Taste of the Wild, which is another plus. So, I’m very content with this brand and I will continue buying it every month. The other one I had bought her was not good and I ended up giving it to the stray cats.

My dogs tend to like Taste of the Wild and even the cats enjoy it. I also like it because I could start puppies on it. I just water it down a little bit for the little ones and they ate it right up. You also water it down a little bit for the older ones and they tend to be able to eat it. All my dogs get good health out of it. I noticed that when the dogs use the bathroom, it’s very small and tight. Meaning, they get all the nutrition they could get out of it instead of having a bunch of filler in it.
Reading the ingredients, Taste of the Wild seemed like it was the better dog food, very expensive though. We have 12 dogs and buy 11 bags a month. When you buy 10 bags, you get one free. We spend $500 a month on it right now. We also buy four bags of cat food at a time. If it was more affordable, it would be awesome. I recommend Taste of the Wild to everybody. I raise some Bloodhound puppies and I always send a bag full of Taste of the Wild and ask the puppies to be put on good-quality dog food.

Taste of the Wild is a good pet food. We've been using it for a few years now. My cat is about seven years old and my dog is Rottweiler-Labrador-Doberman mix and she's going to be five. My dog has been on Taste of the Wild the whole time and our cat might have had another cat food when she was younger and then we've switched.
Our cat has one of those self-feeder dry pellet ones, so she just has it available whenever she wants it and then we do give her a little bit of wet food once a day, in the morning. The dog gets fed twice a day, morning and evening. I buy the biggest bags because it's cheaper, but I try to rotate the formulation. The one that my dog didn't like was the one with the red coloring on the bag. But the other ones, she likes them just fine. For the cat, I always just get her the salmon one.

I was inside of one of those feeds and they had different brands. They recommended that Taste of the Wild was a pretty good brand. I have two Dogo Canarios. They were pretty fast on the dog food. It was something new for them. The taste helped a lot. Since my dogs are mastiffs, I wouldn't get a lot of high protein. The grain-free is really good to use. My dogs are up and about. I try to keep it interesting for the dogs. I would hate to just be stuck eating one thing for my whole life. I have a Belgian Malinois Shepherd and there was a cattle dog Kelpie. I feel when I feed a higher protein and a better food my dogs tend to be happier, healthier and they actually eat a lot less. I am very satisfied with the product.

Taste of the Wild had good vitamin content in it and it had some other things in it that was really good for the dog. We just put some in his bowl and he ate when he wanted to eat and there's water in his bowl. We just let him go out and he'd go do his business and come back in. So, he liked it and ate it. My son and his girlfriend, who owns the dog, moved away so I no longer buy it but I used it for over a year and I would recommend it. It's a little bit pricey but it's good food. When you buy good food, they have a tendency to have less waste because they digest whatever is in it better. They use more than a lot of other byproducts and stuff, and then they end up pooping really less.

We enjoy the Taste of the Wild. We like using it and we’ll continue to use it. Our dog's coat is a little bit softer. We have a pit bull-terrier and she enjoys eating her food. I'm currently using the Bison. My pet is about 75 pounds, five and a half years old. She’s a mixed Akita, Rottweiler, Lab, and Golden Retriever. I went on Facebook and I asked a Miniature Schnauzer group what their Schnauzers like and what’s good for them, and a lot of people recommended Taste of the Wild. Buck, my Miniature Schnauzer, loves it and I wish that there were more flavors for the puppy food. We’ve been using it ever since he started eating dry food, which is about four months. I feed him one and a half cups in the morning, and then I just let him eat however much he wants at night because he doesn’t get any food during the night time. He’s a healthy dog and he’s amazing. He goes on three-mile runs and he doesn’t even care. And they love it. Their snouts are nice and shiny. The miniature schnauzer runs around all day chasing the deer and our little six-pound Shih Tzu Maltese runs around chasing the other dog inside the house, Sparky. My black cat has been feeding on Taste of the Wild for 10 years now and it has a good coat. I get the Rocky Mountain Grain-Free feline food in a green bag and it has some good stuff in it. It's got stuff that they might forge more, out in the wild, like berries, but it doesn't have a lot of the stuff in it that other cat food has. However, one of the things that I don't like so much is while it's got individual kernels, there are a lot of crumbly, loose, little pieces in there. Still, it's the same food so it's good. And another reason Taste of the Wild is good is it's cheaper than the counterpart in another brand, and they're both good quality so that's a big deciding factor.

When my two dogs were on taste of the wild, we didn't seem to have any problems with it. They liked it. It was tasty and it came in different flavors.
More recently, a friend of mine switched her dogs off Taste of the Wild and off any kind of grain-free product. All of a sudden, the thing came up where they were number three with how many dogs were getting sick. I asked a vet about that and he told me that I should not be feeding my dogs grain free anymore. Taste of the Wild is my dogs' favorite food. I've been using it for about eight years now. It's grain-free, and that obviously made a huge difference in their diet. The amount of food that you feed them is less compared to everybody else. Their feces is a lot harder than the other ones, which means they’re absorbing all the nutrients they can, and that's great. I had show dogs and their coat was better too. About two months after I switched them over to TOTW, I started getting best in show with them. They definitely love the original, yellow bag, the Buffalo, whereas my Pug loves the lamb. We tried all the different flavors, and he doesn’t like the Mountain one very much, but he’s all over the lamb. I feed him the daily dose but I cut it in half. So, I feed him in the morning about 10 minutes before we leave in the morning for work, and then about 50 minutes after we come home, then we’ll feed him his second half of his full dose.
Whenever we pick up the food, people always ask if it is really worth the price. I tell them my story, and they get the food too. Then the next time I see them, they tell me that I was right and TOTW is totally an amazing food. At work, if people are having issues with their dogs, I always tell them about the food. And then, they try it and their food issues go away.

I've been using Taste of the Wild for 17 months now. I have two dogs and they’re both on it. When I was first introduced to Taste of the Wild, that was when I have my first dog, my first Cane Corso. And with Cane Corsos, they need a certain percentage of raw meat, liver, bones or organs itself, and Taste of the Wild gave me a step above the normal dog food. I went with this brand because of the raw meat that’s actually mixed in with the food. To have my Cane Corso on a complete raw diet is pretty expensive. So, Taste of the Wild gave me the experience of having the mixture of the chicken with the actual raw food as well. So, I give my dogs a healthier diet.
I use the Absolute Taste of the Wild and I use Diamond as well. That with Diamond, I use a large breed because I have another dog I've just added to the family, which is an American Bully, and she's only 13 weeks. So, I wanted a dog food that my dogs could both eat. Some other dogs can't eat adult dog food, but adult dog can eat puppy food because of the nutrients and protein in it. I've been feeding Taste of the Wild to my dogs for 20 years now and I'm very happy with it. I went with this brand mainly because of the ingredients and because I feed raw food. I thought that it was a better blend to go with to complement the raw food. I was breeding Shiba Inus and that was when I started using Taste of the Wild. And now, I have two little Havanese girls. I'm feeding them raw beef and Salmon Taste of the Wild. I felt that the fish would offer a few more pluses to it, like the oil.

We use the buffalo one, the yellow bag, and I feed my dogs once a day, usually at about 5:00. I have two bulldogs, Elvis and Big Mama, who are both about two years old. Then I also have a pitbull who is about five years old.

I had a dog that developed a pet food allergy. I did some research and it seemed like it was a grain allergy. A few years before that, I had a dog that had a problem with it. I tried Taste of the Wild to see if it helps the skin allergy problem and it did. But I try to change my protein every time so he doesn't build up an allergy to it. I've tried all of them, but I usually go by color. I usually alternate four - Pine Forest, waterfowl, salmon and the one with buffaloes on it. Along with some forms of medication, Taste of the Wild has really made a big difference in my dog's allergy problems. It doesn't flare up nearly as bad without the grains in the dog food.

And then, I researched some pet food brands and found other brands that were healthy and had better product stuff in it. Her coat got way healthier when I switched her food. Still, TOTW is a good brand of dog food for the price. It was affordable and it had the natural ingredient, and my dog happily ate it.

We have mixed 3 years old dog. We gave him this food for the last 2 years. In the last 5 months our dog passed out almost 10 times. We took him to the doctor and firstly he made a wrong diagnosis of epilepsy, so we took him to Neurologist and once he examined him he said that it is not an epilepsy, but heart issue and that we MUST go to Cardiologist ASAP. The Cardiologist said that our dog's heart is in critical condition and he can get cardiac arrest in every moment. She recommended us to stop with that food ASAP and gave us pills.
Now we give him 5 pills in the morning, 1 in the noon and 5 in the evening, it costs 150$ per months and we hope that everything will be OK and we will see improvement in the next meeting with our cardiologist in the next month. After we read the FDA research we sure that all of this caused because of this food. Our dog was very happy and energetic before we started to give him this food. His heart got bigger and his heart rate in rest condition is 225 bpm. He has a leak between his heart partitions. :(

I have two dogs, one is a full-bred German short-haired pointer, who eats and does very well on Taste of the Wild. She is an adult dog at over two years old, and we feed her a total of four cups a day of the High Prairie Canine Recipe with roasted bison and roasted venison. And she has been great. However, my other dog, a mixed breed, seems to get diarrhea on Taste of the Wild.
We started both of our dogs off of TOTW, but since the mixed breed did not do so well with it, we switched both of them to a new stuff. He did really well on it, but my GSP lost a lot of weight. The newer stuff is more expensive than TOTW, so then we decided to put her back on TOTW and he went on the new stuff, and that’s how we’ve had it for the last year. So depending on which dog, the reaction would be different for different recipes. But we’ve been buying Taste of the Wild for over a year, because we believe in it. It’s good stuff, and it works for our GSP.

I have three dogs, so I need a 50 pound bag and there's only one selection on that. You have to get the 40 if you want other selections, but it's not worth the price. For me to get the 40- or 30-pound bag, I'll have to be back in the store twice or three times a month because it's gonna go quick. Other than that, Taste of the Wild has a better product. I want to say that the FDA is the same agency that has recommended Americans to eat more grains than protein and vegetables. Since this change we are fatter and more unhealthier than ever. So I don’t buy into this FDA report about grain-free dog food being a problem. It is the lobbyists and agency that is the problem here. Don’t you think that they would want to point our pets in the same direction if it meant the corn and wheat industries and their lobbyists would provide the right benefit $ to the agency in some form? Wake up People! Is your dog healthy? Mine is he has been eating TOTW HP and PS for 3 years and the puppy version before that. He has no health issues, his coat looks amazing, his eyes are bright and his nails grow the way they should. He is a show dog quality Belgian Malinois.
I chose this food because it was the best value for the best ingredients that I felt would benefit him. His diet is supplemented with all kinds of treats and meats - he is not a grain-free dog, but he is healthy and I trust a company that cares about making quality dog food over the agency that has been the primary reason for the decline of Americans' health. Just pointing out the obvious. So I hope that anyone that is using or considering TOTW looks at their own dog’s health instead of worry about a report from an untrustworthy government agency. With that said if they are having problems by all means work with your vet to find a solution. I am not a rep of TOTW and am not paid to be a voice of reason.

I am so sorry to hear that. I will email you. To date, the FDA still has not found any science-based causes to link grain-free diets — including Taste of the Wild — to DCM. As they note, it is a complex issue with numerous factors to consider, such as breeds that have a genetic predisposition for developing DCM. We continue to monitor this issue closely and support ongoing research efforts. Since the FDA’s initial DCM report was released in 2018, more than 14 million bags of Taste of the Wild dog food were produced and sold in the United States. While 53 is a small number of incidences in comparison to the number of dogs eating Taste of the Wild, we do not want to minimize what the affected dogs and their pet parents have experienced. Our top priority is, and always will be, to provide pets with quality, safe food that meets all federal and state regulatory guidelines.

Is there a good read to dispel the food and source genetic attributes as the culprit?
Thanks for posting. It's a frustrating time for both pet parents and pet food manufacturers. Our goal as it always has been is to produce the best safest food possible for pets.Publishing the names of 16 pet food brands that have been anecdotally connected with cases of DCM, without significant weight behind those claims, is misleading to the general public and could undermine a general understanding of the disease itself.
The fact is, the FDA has found no concrete evidence that any pet food is causing DCM. It has only gathered information on what food brands were fed to pets that were diagnosed with the disease. As Steve M. Solomen, D.V.M., M.P.H., director of the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine, even said, “...we have not yet determined the nature of this potential correlation between dog food and DCM”

So, I work as an animal nutrition consultant. So, when we found a puppy we loved I wanted something that would be a solid nutritional choice. Our mixed breed started on Taste of the Wild at 6 months of age. He seemed to eat it ‘okay’ but just never seemed overly interested in his food. Over the next few years his interest lessened and we decided to try the premium Taste of the Wild, the PREY line. If we rotated between turkey and beef, he would at least nibble throughout the day. Our dog is trained in skijor and has 20 acres to run and explore with our family. We were confused and devastated when at 2.5 years old he developed pneumonia. That’s when the x-rays and echocardiogram revealed the true cause, severe dilated cardiomyopathy. Luckily, we have an INCREDIBLE canine cardiologist who encouraged us that with time, if it was nutritional and we were committed to his care there was a chance it could be reversed.
We immediately CHANGED his food to a traditional and well-known competitor, plus a vet approved diet rich in taurine. It has cost us thousands in medical, 20 pills and supplements daily, and of course the emotional cost too. So hard when you want to do the best for your furry family member. It has been just over 6 months so far... And we just had another follow-up echo with this news: Dale’s heart has shrunk by almost 50%, and his motility improved by 36%!!! That was our confirmation that the DCM is in fact diet related (congenital DCM only gets worse with time).
Oh, and did I mention that now he GOBBLES down his food and asks for more?! They are slow to provide anything definitive about the link between cases of DCM and diet. So, do your research. Is it legumes? Is it an issue in ‘specialty proteins’? Maybe both? All I know is our pup went downhill fast, and since we changed his food and provided supplements and meds, his DCM is reversing.

It has been about two years and she is doing awesome. She will be eight years old in just a couple days and has loads of energy and clear skin. She just had her yearly checkup and is in A-1 condition. The Vet was surprised her teeth were in excellent condition for her age. I'm so thankful I found TOTW. I don't think she would be with us now if I hadn't.

Taste of the Wild was what the veterinarian recommended. I feed it to my German Shepherd and I use the Trout formula because my pet doesn’t like chicken. Taste of the Wild is a healthier option with less by-products in it. And it’s more of a natural food form. I’d tell a friend that I like it, and I’d recommend it to him if he had a dog.

We started choosing Taste of the Wild because it was grain-free. We've been using it for at least 5 years now and it made our dogs’ coats really shiny. But after about a year ago, the coats stopped being shiny, so I don’t know what happened there. The formula changed or whatnot. But we still like the grain-free option. We like it better than the other options.
We have eight Salukis, a standard Dachshund, and a Terrier. They range from 12 years to 9 months. They like just about everything but they don’t particularly care for the salmon so we usually use the red bag, the bison, the venison and the boar. We wish that Taste of the Wild had a little bit less starch in it and also more protein. But other than that, we’re good.

She's had a very good coat and she's maintaining her weight. She's not having as many allergy issues. Taste of the Wild has been working for us. It reduced the allergens. We also get a free bag after so many bags so that’s another reason why we chose to go with that route.

My pets have been on Taste of the Wild for a few years now. We don't like the cheap stuff with fillers that we get from the supermarket so this one got recommended by the vet. Every once in a while, I rotate choices and it's a bit hit-and-miss. There is one or two in the rotation that they don't like as much as the others. I have to wait until they're really hungry and then they don't have much choice. Other than that, my dogs all look good and incredibly healthy.

I bought Taste of the Wild for the first time at my local hardware store. I checked the ingredients and was satisfied with the ingredients as opposed to about every other food. The only thing is I wasn't sure about all of the different flavors, so I was trying to figure out which one of the flavors suited my dogs the best. And I noticed that whenever I would change flavors from bag to bag, there's a little bit of itching in my dogs. But otherwise, I am extremely satisfied with the company and how the dogs like the food and that it's healthy for them. It's one of the few that they like and it's good for them.
There are five flavors that my local hardware sells, so I was trying to figure out which one my dogs like the best. When I did that, I couldn't figure out why they were itching. And then, when I did a little more digging, because I know when you switch from food to food, that sometimes allergy arose, but I never thought of flavor to flavor in the same food. And I can't nail down that that was the exact reason. It could've been environmental factor. Other than that, I like the packaging. I like the product. I'm very happy that we are part of a program where once we buy 10 bags, we get a bag for free. I like that.

The dog food that is bought in the stores has too much grain in it and I don't like it. I did some research, spoke to a lot of people, particularly my granddaughter who is raising German Shepherds and horses and she told me that Taste of the Wild was a good bet. We purchase dog food that we supplement the Taste of the Wild with and it's a dog food that's made with all natural ingredients including vegetables. We also rotate the varieties. We like the salmon and the bison. There's also one Taste of the Wild boar which my German Shepherd likes. Now, he looks good and he doesn't shed a lot. He has plenty of energy and he has no issues.
But this year, my granddaughter told me that she was moving her dogs off of Taste of the Wild because of the nutritional content. I and my friends are looking into gathering information and we may gather the wrong ones so Taste of the Wild might want to put the information out there and tell us where their raw materials are coming from. Still, I'm happy with Taste of the Wild.

I gave my dog TOTW recommended at Petco. I fed it to him last night mixed with his regular food. Figured he’d like it because he inhales any type of food. Feed him and in 2 mins he’s done. Anyways gave it to him mixed with his regular food and for first time ever he had blood in his stools. Going back to his regular food which he never had blood in his stools before.
Ugh, sorry to hear that. Sounds like a case of colitis. Colitis means inflammation of the colon. The colon is the very last portion of gastrointestinal tract before a dog poos. If the colon becomes inflamed for any reason, it may bleed causing bright red blood in the stools. Dogs often develop colitis due to stress from a change in environment or diet. If I understand you correctly it was after one meal of the old and new food mixed. If in the future you would like to change foods, it would probably work better to only put 1/4 new to 3/4 old so that it's a slower trnasistion

I have a 6 year Weimaraner who has been on this food for over 4 years, and just lost an almost 3 year old Doberman that had been on this her entire life. She very suddenly started to vomit one night and was gone 36 hours later. After paying a lot of $$$ for autopsy and blood tests, the conclusion was dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Yes large breeds are more prone to this, but that isn't commonly seen until after age 6. My doberman was 2 years 11 months and her life ended way too early. I didn't think it was her food until I started seeing more and more reviews about dogs having heart problems and sudden death who are on grain free diets.
I'm quickly moving my Weim off of grain free this week to try and avoid the same tragic death my Dobe went through. I'll never know for sure if it was Taste of the Wild, the Pacific Stream protein from TotW, or grain free in general, but I would advice others with large breeds to stay away from grain-free unless they have severe allergies and it's recommended from the vet. Grain free has been the latest trend the past several years and has popped up in a lot of boutique brands of dog food like Blue Buffalo and TotW, and there's also been a correlation of higher DCM related deaths.
The AKC just came out with some research articles about a possible link between some ingredients that are common in grain free food like lentils and DCM. I'll forever have the guilt on my shoulders now of choosing the wrong dog food when I walked into the pet store with my puppy doberman 3 years ago and choosing a grain free diet just because that was the hot item at the moment. I'd encourage Taste of the Wild to do further research and finding the link here between grain free and these sudden deaths, but know they won't or wouldn't release info they found proving this as it would open up a line of lawsuits a mile long and would tank the company.
So sorry for your loss. The cumulative prevalence of Doberman cardiomyopathy is 58.2%, meaning over 50% of Dobermans develop congestive heart failure during their life. DCM prevalence in various age groups is: age group 1 (1 to <2 years) 3.3%, age group 2 (2 to <4 years) 9.9%, age group 3 (4 to <6 years) 12.5%, age group 4 (6 to <8 years) 43.6%, and age group 5 (>8 years) 44.1%. As far as grain free diets and DCM, while we are not conducting research in house, we are supportive of the scientists who are doing it. We feel that the industry needs to come together to support the scientists in different research universities and laboratories across the country to find a cause. Diamond, as a member of the Pet Food Institute, is participating in funding a committee of industry scientists working on this issue. Additionally, our veterinary and nutrition teams are offering to collaborate with researchers to provide any additional information they may need to conduct their studies.

My mixed breed, 4 years old, was diagnosed on 5/14 with dilated cardiomyopathy and right ventricular congestive heart failure. He started heart medications and taurine supplementation. On 5/22, he passed away from a fatal arrhythmia at the cardiologists office not even 30 seconds before being seen. He died in my husband’s arms.
He developed DCM because of his grain-free diet. We had been feeding him grain-free his whole life, Taste of the Wild for the last 3.5 years. I urge anyone reading these reviews to do research on grain-free and these “limited ingredient” diets. The research is new, but shows links of some cases with more than one dog in a household feeding grain-free and developing DCM.
Once Taste of the Wild puts actual research and independent backing into their recipes and nutrition profiles with more than just 6-week studies, I’ll listen to what they have to say. They have a huge responsibility, beyond marketing, to ethically test their food. They haven’t upheld that and they don’t take it seriously. This joke of a dog food company is responsible for the deaths of many dogs and sadly many more to come if word doesn’t get out about this.
All types of foods (grain-free, with grain, raw, BEG) are still being researched and monitored because the cases of DCM reported to the FDA include diets of all types. No science-based research to date, has uncovered a causative link to any type of diet. This is why the FDA has not listed any specific pet diets, food ingredients or manufacturers as a cause of DCM. We encourage you and others to contact us (800.342.4808) with any questions and share any information with us that makes you concerned. As we’ve done in the past, we will continue to use a science-based approach to base our decisions regarding the various recipes we use. I don't know where you found it saying we use 6 week feeding trials. Like a lot on the internet, this is blatantly untrue. When we do feeding trials it is the standard 6 months long, like the other pet food manufacturers use. We also test the food and have a great food safety program in place

I’ve been feeding my dogs Taste of the Wild brand food for 10 years now. I have always heard and read great things about it and my dogs always seem to enjoy their food. I lost my black lab to cancer three years ago and I just read there is a lawsuit against the company for extremely high lead amounts in this food. High enough to cause cancer over long periods of use. I have to wonder if my lab’s cancer was caused by this food? And are my other dogs at risk. And now that there is a lawsuit what is Taste of the Wild doing about this issue?

Taste of the Wild is following an all so familiar path of reducing what you get and masking it. Then will sneak the price back up. 2 pounds less, why? So they can stay under the $50 price point. I don't like and am changing brands due to this stupid marketing trickery. How can I trust their ingredients if they try and trick you by reducing quantity and temporarily reduce the price. I can't wait to hear their response... we're not going to jack the price up... We just want to give you less and charge you less. That's what people want. Bull!
We made the bags smaller because our cost of goods, especially the meats, have increased over time. Our choice was make the bag smaller, 28# instead of 30# or increase the price. We opted to make the bag smaller. We do not set the price for our products, the retailers do. I'm sorry that happened to you, you may wish to talk to the store where you bought it.

I have two Yorkies, one is 7 and the other is 6. They have been fed Taste of the Wild their entire life. I loved the food! A couple of years ago I switched to the Small Breed option and they did really well with it...until they no longer did. A month ago my 6 year old pup started having really bad diarrhea and vomiting, it got so severe he had just blood coming out. I took him to the vet and they ran all their tests.
A few days later my 7 year old had the exactly same issues. Fecal tests came back negative for parasites, blood work was good. I fed them a diet of chicken and rice for a week until I slowly started incorporating their dry food back into their diet. As soon as I did the symptoms returned. I assumed the bag could have gone bad so I threw it away and opened a brand new bag. Slowly reintroduced the food and same issues returned. I'm so heartbroken. As a pet owner I did a lot of research trying to find the best food and for this to happen is just disheartening. I'm not sure if the recipe changed, or if something happened during transportation but I can no longer recommend this brand to anyone.

My parents have been using this food for many years and it's really helped their dog lean out and also got rid of an ear infection problem. They babysit my dog whenever I'm out of town and for 3 years, there have been no problems with my dog eating this food. My dog also stays at other places and has NO problem with switching food out. Last month my dog stayed with them for 4 days (he gets fed twice a day) and he became incredibly sick. Uncontrollable diarrhea and vomiting for 5 days straight. We took him to the vet and got him back on track with probiotics. I knew it was the food change (and my vet confirmed) so I decided to bring his current food this time but my parents starting running out so they combined half of his food with half of their Taste of the Wild. After one bowl that was half mixed, my dog became extremely sick again. It's been over a week now and he's still not better.
We hope your dog is feeling better. Which TOTW recipe are your parents currently feeding? Your vet is likely right, a sudden change in food can cause GI signs. Also it sounds like he has a hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients since he reacted to that degree. Perhaps in the past your parents weren't feeding this particular recipe when your dog was over? Am glad their dog didn't get sick, seems more of an innate issue with your guy.

I WOULD RATE THIS A ZERO IF I COULD!!! My (2 yrs 9 mo) Golden Retriever was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy after being rushed to the ER vet because she was in congestive heart failure. She spent over 24 hrs there and thousands of dollars in bills. She will never recovery and has a life expectancy of 1 to 2 years now. I was told that it was as a result of a nutrient deficiency and is linked to the food she was eating. We have had her for a year and a half and the entire time with us she has eaten TOTW grain free food. I have been told that grain free is one of the diets that cause this. Taurine is the deficiency and it causes an enlarged heart.
Our dog's heart is so enlarged you can see and feel her heart beating when she is stretched out lying on the floor. She regularly is seen by a vet and it wasn't caught until she has a cough and trouble breathing and would not settle down for the night. She just kept pacing and pacing and looking at me for something... so I took her in, and you know the rest of the story. As of this writing (4/21/19) the is pretty new to the FDA and investigations and research is still ongoing. I am writing this because I don't want others to lose their dog prematurely. I have been told that you can still feed your dog grain free but you may need to supplement with taurine. There is a test to test your dogs taurine levels and supplementation would be based on the results. If you are going to feed grain free be aware and do some research on "grain free dog doods and congestive heart failure" or "dilated cardiomyopathy".
So sorry to hear of the diagnosis, hopefully she will greatly improve on her medications. It is unfortunate that Goldens have a genetic predilection for developing dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Now that has been established, it will be good to develop the Golden lines that don't carry the predilection so other Golden owners don't have to go thru what you are dealing with. Taurine is an amino acid. Dogs and people make their own taurine from the amino acid precursors cysteine and methionine, so dog food does not have to have taurine in the recipe. Nonetheless Taste of the Wild does add taurine to be on the safe side.

Our primary concern is certainly Bear's well-being. Unfortunately, the phone call you had with us ended before we are able to talk about our recipe in Diamond Care that would be a good fit to help manage Bear's diabetes. We sell a staggering 40,000 bags of Taste of the Wild each day, so rest assured if there was a problem, we would undoubtedly have hundreds, if not thousands, of new posts daily. Our foods are extensively tested for quality and safety before they leave any of our manufacturing facilities. It is a natural inclination to look at the diet when a pet experiences GI issues. Sometimes it can mean that the particular recipe isn't right for the pet, and we may need to look at another recipe. However, in the overwhelming number of cases, the issue is not food related at all.

I have been using Taste of the Wild High Prairie for four years. My dogs are ages 1.5 and 5.5 years. My younger dog started having black and runny stool 10 days ago. My other dog stopped eating his food 2 days ago. Yesterday I noticed he was straining trying to empty his bowels. No luck. The younger started laying 5 feet from her bowl but wouldn't eat. When I started putting the picture together I went into the kitchen and fried a pound of ground beef and mixed it with rice. They inhaled it. For the time being I am making the same recipe with chicken and putting sweet potatoes in both. When I returned home this afternoon my older dog laid by his food bowl and had his paws on either side and looked at me. I knew what he was telling me.
One important piece of information is this was the first 28# bag I have purchased since they eliminated the 30# bag and lowered their price just a tad. I gave a 3 star neutral rating because while I believe it is the dog food you can't be certain. I am returning the bag. But saving a cup for testing. I wish you all the best in taking care of your pets. They are my world and can't imagine losing them prematurely.
Becca, thanks so much for helping us investigate the batch! We are glad both your furbabies are now well

My dogs have been eating TOTW for years with no adverse conditions. I received a new bag and suddenly one dog was vomiting and had diarrhea. I stopped feeding any of the dry food and switched to cooking chicken, rice, veggies, per vet recommendation. Did this for several weeks, dog recovered, switched back to TOTW. Within days my other dog got so sick we had to go to ER vet. She had inflamed intestinal walls and pancreatitis. She's at home recovering now and I will be making her food from now on.
We are sorry we didn't hear back from you. I imagine yur veterinarian explained that the overwhelming majority of pancreatitis cases are idiopathic, meaning the cause is unknown. One known cause is getting into the trash and consuming a high fat meal-turkey skin, ham etc. Our food contains the same amount of fat as other kibble available on the market

I am absolutely sick to my stomach over the recent lawsuit about TOTW having more lead content in it than the homes in Flint MI. **. Last year, my previously healthy 2 year, 2 mo old St Bernard succumbed after 3 weeks at the vet getting tested & treated, and my vet bill was over $17K. I am drowning in bills and even worse lost my beloved dog. I will be joining this class action lawsuit.
So sorry for your loss. Was the diagnosis actually lead poisoning? If so,please know that lead is a heavy metal that is present in metallic, inorganic, and organic forms. Metallic lead is present in firearm ammunition, plumbing hardware, soldering flux, fishing and curtain weights, automotive batteries and wheel weights, radiography shielding, decorative moldings, stained glass, etc. Inorganic lead salts are present in a wide range of products, such as paint pigments, ceramic glazes, plastic stabilizers, industrial effluents, linoleum components, and caulking compounds. In the litigious society, in which we live, anyone can file a lawsuit against anyone, and that's what happened to us. The plaintiff has provided nothing to substantiate their claim, while we have lab results that show there is non-detectable levels of lead and other heavy metals. We are waiting for the judicial system to work, unfortunately that takes time. We are not the only pet food company targeted. Champion Foods recently had their suit, filed in 2018 dismissed. https://www.petfoodindustry.com/articles/7875-heavy-metal-lawsuit-against-champion-petfoods-dismissed. We work with a nationally recognized, independent testing facility that holds the ISO 17025 certification as well as biological and chemical A2LA certifications. The facility conducted tests on our food to check the levels of arsenic, mercury, cadmium and lead. The tests showed “not-detectable” levels for the metals tested.

I have been feeding my two 7 yr old very sensitive white Boxers this kibble for the past 5 yrs with excellent results in overall health, no allergy issues such as skin, nails, coat, stomach. I do have to say that it is only the Pacific Stream formula that has accomplished these results. I discovered after many trials of isolating various food ingredients that our Boxers are allergic to poultry. Prior to switching to TOTW Pacific Stream brand, I was feeding them both Orijen or Acana brand in the initial 2 yrs of life and did find that my dogs did develop skin allergies with the poultry even in this superior quality kibble.
Once I switched them back to Orijen or Acana Fish ingredient the allergies stopped. However for financial reasons I needed to researched other "brands" comparable the the above mentioned without sacrificing my pets health and found the ingredients in TOTW to be the most comparable and reasonable to that of Orijen or Acana. I wished it possible to upload a photo of how strong and healthy they are since a picture is worth a thousand words! Proud White Boxer Mom from Florida.

I have had both my labs on TOTW for years now. In the most recent 6 months, the gas being produced by my labs is intolerable. I just took one of my labs to a vet visit last Saturday and she said it could be a change in the recipe of the brand. I am not a happy camper with the changes and my dogs are not eating as well as they were before. They don't get table scraps additional food outside of their kibble. Reading other reviews, CLEARLY there has been some kind of change. I will be switching them to another brand before my dogs end up in ER for gastrointestinal issues or worse.
Sorry to hear about the gas issue. We have not changed the recipes. For dogs with flatulence, a recipe with fewer protein sources is best. This would be Pacific Stream. A recipe like High Prairie isn't recommended for gassy dogs since it has seven different protein sources, which then must be broken down by the gut.

My cats loved eating this food so I bought it until I started seeing illness in some adults and kittens. One 10 month old kitten suffered from what seemed like Inflammatory Bowel Disease symptoms which we (my vets and myself) could not cure, and she died (a piece of my heart went with her from this terrible death). An adult mother cat stopped suddenly nursing her 4 month old kittens crying and crying for unknown reasons. She looked swollen but no vets nor myself could figure out why. Nothing worked to solve this swelling problem (not antibiotics, not deworming). After the 10 month old kitten died and this swollen mother cat seemed ill, I changed this dry food. I replaced it with one that I had used before without problems of this sort. The swelling in the mother cat went away and she is doing great now. I cannot in all honesty recommend this food.
Linda, thanks for sharing that all your vets were perplexed. Your thought of inflammatory bowel disease progressing into autoimmune destruction of the digestive lining, like Crohn's disease, in the 10 month old, may very well been what happened. So glad momma cat has returned to her show condition after the food hypersensitivity was resolved

My dogs have been eating this food since June 4, 2019. My female dog is 5 and was recently diagnosed with ADVANCED DCM and a heart murmur. I had no idea the FDA was investigating Limited Ingredient and Grain Free foods until this happened. The cardiologist told me she has so many cases of this. Look up FDA/Grain free, Tufts University and grain free, CVCA website - grain free - I now belong to a group on FB for DCM and there are MANY people who have fed this dog food to their dogs and are suffering the same fate for their family. I will be testing my other dog as well. They often do not show symptoms. If your dog has been eating this or other grain free food get them tested. Some cases can be turned around with nutrition and meds. The company is taking NO responsibility.
• According to Dr. John Rush, a veterinary cardiologist, certain breeds such as Great Danes, German shepherds, Irish wolfhounds, Newfoundlands and St. Bernards are at risk, while boxers and Doberman Pinschers are predisposed to the disease. In addition to the above breeds, Cocker spaniels and Portuguese water dogs may also develop forms of the disease.
• In recent research published by Dr. Joshua Stern, DCM in golden retrievers was often associated with taurine deficiency.
• According to Tufts University’s Petfoodology blog, 10 to 15% of dogs will develop some form of heart disease in their lives. Dr. Rush has indicated DCM as the second most common cause of congestive heart failure in dogs

I've been feeding my dog this food for a 3-4 years. He has tolerated it and I've had no interest in changing his food. Recently, the recipe was changed. Unfortunately, I found this out after my dog became ill with pancreatitis. My dog's vet said that this often happens when an older dog's food is changed. My poor baby is very sick and may not survive. I don't recommend this brand.
So sorry to hear about your dog developing pancreatitis. I wanted to let you know that the recipes have NOT changed. In almost all cases of pancreatitis the etiology (cause) is never determined. However, the classic ingestion of a high-fat meal ( think Thanksgiving turkey with skin and fat and the dog gets in the trashcan) is a well-accepted etiology. Some medications can also cause pancreatitis. TOTW has the same fat content as other commercial dog food recipes. We are happy to speak to your vet, if you would like, so we can clear up any miscommunication/misunderstanding on his/her side. Truly hope your dog pulls through!

I work at a pet boarding facility and we happen to sell this on our shelves. I did a little (not enough) research and thought my dog would love this. He is a 3.5 year old, 80 pound Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix. Has never been sick aside from kennel cough from the shelter when we adopted him at the age of 1 year old. First, I grabbed a sample bag, which he loved, even our four month old yorkiepoo was raving about the smell. My dog enjoyed it and so I went and purchased the 15 lb bag.
Just over a week later, my dog is not himself. He wouldn’t eat or drink any water. I came home from work one day and he vomited 6 times, pooped inside (he does not EVER have accidents) and wouldn’t even drink water. He threw up a few times prior, but I didn’t think too much of it. Assumed he was adjusting. We went to the vet right after and he was given 4 different medications for GI. The x-rays showed A LOT of gas in his belly. He still barely even interested in rice and chicken. Hasn’t pooped for two days now.
I am usually very particular about what my dogs consume. If I fed this brand to our puppy, I don’t believe he would have been lucky, considering he’s 4 months and about 3 pounds. And I do not even want a response from TOTW! They just write people off and it’s disgusting. Show some genuine concern when your food has been killing dogs. If this food works for your pup, still be precautionary because so have some other dogs who are now in doggy heaven!
Gas may accumulate because of obstruction (foreign body, etc) or because of poor tone. Poor tone may be caused by peritoneal inflammation (such as pancreatitis). I imagine your employer must have good luck with TOTW or they wouldn't sell it. I don't want to trivialize what you and your dog have been through, but we do sell over 40,000 bags a week, so I imagine any issues with the food would result in hundreds, if not thousands, of new reports of sick dogs everyday

I have used Taste of the Wild dog food to supplement home cooked foods for my dogs for years. About a month ago, my schools started having bloody diarrhea and vomiting. I had just purchased a new bag of Taste of the Wild. The dog went to the vet and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. After 2 days with the vet, he came home and has required a lot of care and home cooking. Our second dog then started vomiting excessively (10 times in an hours, not bloody). I removed flea collars from both dogs and washed the dogs. (Collars were a month old, but I wanted to eliminate any possibility.) I put them back on chicken and rice solely. Both got better. I fed a bit of Taste of the Wild the past few days and my Schnoodle is vomiting and lethargic again. What is in this dog food?
I’m sorry to hear about the pancreatitis. Your vet probably explained that most cases of pancreatitis are idiopathic (cause unknown). One exception to this is the exposure to organophosphates. Depending on which brand of flea collar you used, the collar may be the cause. It takes a good week for the gastrointestinal cells to regenerate after a GI upset, so switching back from a bland diet like you made, too soon, can be too much for the system and result in GI signs again. Nonetheless we would love to be able to do an internal investigation into your batch. We retain samples from each batch and assess them. I have been feeding my dogs Taste of the Wild for about four years, and now my one dog has DCM. She is a pitbull, which isn't a breed that typically gets this disease. My vet informed me that grain free diets, like Taste of the Wild can lower taurine levels and cause this deadly disease. I hope nobody else has to see their dog in a state of congestive heart failure (she is alive). So I had to switch foods (vets orders), to one that includes grains, and I hope this didn't affect my other dog.
I’m glad your dog is getting treated. The puzzle regarding taurine and DCM, is unfortunately, far from being solved. Taurine is an amino acid. There is no requirement for dog food to have taurine since people and dogs make it from the amino acid precursors, cysteine and methionine. We add taurine to all of the TOW recipes, so that if a dog has difficulty making or assimilating taurine, it is available for them from the food. I certainly don’t want to trivialize what you and your dog have gone thru but I believe to date out of the 89.7 million dogs in the US, less than 200 have been reported to the FDA

I have had nothing but a positive experience with this brand. When I adopted my puppy at 16 weeks old, she was underweight and had a tapeworm. We went through 3 different brands, some with grain, some grain free and it was always the same - soft smelly stools and still underweight. The tapeworm was gone and the vet said it would just take time for her to put on weight. But something just seemed off to me.
I decided to try a food with no poultry ingredients and started her on the Pacific Steam puppy recipe. Her stools firmed up right away. She was on that for a while, and then we got a sample of the PREY line. Her stools got even better. She has been on the Beef recipe for a few weeks and is doing so well. It’s the first time since we’ve had her that she’s had consistently healthy stools. Her skin biting has stopped too. I will continue feeding this food for a long time!

I have a 10 yo Lab and a 2 yo Lab-Chow mix. Both are very high energy dogs and require over 30% protein and at least 18% fat in their diet, or they begin to lose weight like crazy. Being in college, I couldn't afford anything too special, so I had them both on Purina Pro Plan Sport 30/20 ($56 for a 50 lbs. bag) and they were doing well. But I really didn't like that there were so many fillers in it. I had previously tried them on a grain-free food (Wholeheartedly), but they both had gastrointestinal issues, even though I had introduced it slowly.
So I really did my research and I found that TOTW High Prairie was grain-free and had 32% protein. Looking at just the price, it is one of the most affordable grain-free brands. I go through a 30 lbs. bag in about a month between the two of them ($48 at Chewy.com or $46 with autoship). We have been feeding our dog Taste of the Wild Sierra Mountain Lamb Formula for 2 years. She has had rare instances of vomiting in the past, including one day where she was sick multiple times. She recovered from that incident and seemed fine. However, this past Monday we needed an emergency vet visit (including tests and x-rays) after we opened a new bag of TOTW Sierra Mountain Lamb Formula and the dog became violently ill. She threw up at least six times and was excessively thirsty (leading to an accident in the house, which has not happened since the week she was adopted 12/2016). Our vet told us after a 2 1/2 hour exam that our dog's GI tract was severely inflamed and we needed to stop her normal diet immediately (not only to give the GI tract a chance to heal, but to stop any possible tainted food from entering her system).
I contacted Taste of the Wild and they continue to insist that there's "no other complaints" in our area with this formula. I offered to send them back a sample of the food and they have not responded at all in my repeat inquiries asking where to send the sample. To top it off, I got a rather rude email from their "vet" Dr. **, who wrote, "it is not uncommon in dogs or people to feel a bit of nausea or disinterest associated with what we or they last ate. I’ve never felt the same about mac and cheese since college." Seriously? This is a person you employ to correspond with customers with sick animals?
My dog may need to be on a bland diet for another 7-10 days and she needs more tests, possibly including an ultrasound. If this is food related, everyone needs to know. And since TOTW won't test the sample, I'm sending it a friend of mine who works to uncover consumer affairs for a national news outlet. They are in a year-long study on byproducts and waste in dog foods and more than willing to test it for me.
We hope your dog is improving, it sounds like it has been a very stressful time for everyone. We have a list of AAFCO (American Association of Feed Control Officials) approved pet food testing labs we would be happy to provide you if you would like. The reason we don't bring samples of food back into the plants for testing is because of fear of contamination.

Then my son fed his 4 month puppy TOTW puppy food, same thing in just a couple days, took days to switch foods, pumpkin, rice, and chicken to get his inside put back together. What are you putting in that food? My guess would be pesticides? Heavy Metals? Melamine? I have never seen anything like it, it's like slowly poisoning your dog, BEWARE.
Sorry to hear about the sick pooches. Please tell me more about your dog-name, breed and age. Has he been eating TOTW for quite some time? Which recipe were you feeding when this happened? As far as your son's puppy, may I have the answers to the same questions as to your dog's? In selling over 40,000 bags of TOTW every day, the last thing we want is for dogs to be ill. We do not add any pesticides, metals or melamine. In fact, the opposite, our suppliers are held to a very high standard. I am concerned, as I have a boxer with digestive issues and skin issues that me and the vet have been going crazy trying to diagnose, and am now POSITIVE the snail is in the bag of food, that possibly this is what is going on for him. I don't know how snails would affect a dog, or what them crawling around in the bag would do to the food but it really has me upset, as I thought I was giving my dogs the best of the best. There are others which I tried but the dogs did not care for. Taste of the Wild is the only one they eat with gusto! They don't walk away until it's finished!

My dog absolutely loves Taste of Wild. The grain free dog food is healthy, gives my dog a shiny coat and plenty of energy. My friend's dog will only eat Taste of Wild when I go to their home and stay or she comes to my home. She is now a Taste of Wild customer as well.

I have a 5 yr. old, #58 Bull Terrier (Malcolm) that I got from my sister at a yr. and a half, after he bit a member of the family and couldn't stay there any longer. Wanting to get him the best I could, and an hour, or so, online, I made my decision to purchase Taste of the Wild. It has lots of little extras, like pro-biotics (I feel they help me, why not him?), no grains, natural and wild-sourced proteins, etc. How could I, a self-proclaimed fitness/health nut, do anything less for my new charge?! He's now 5 1/2 yrs. old and is healthy and regular. Important for us all. Lol.

I have a dog that was allergic to everything. I started him on Taste of the Wild a few years ago. He no longer has dry skin. He has grown all his hair back and his coat looks beautiful again. Before he looked like he had the mange. I would recommend this food for anyone that is having health issue to see if it could help.

My cat had a lot of vomiting over a year ago. After a few tests it was determined she had GI sensitivity to chicken and certain cat food. Grain free Taste Of The Wild was recommended, dry, and she has been fine ever since. I use the Wild meats and fish types. My cat loves it.

As a family of three dogs, we were looking for a dog food that fit our dogs needs. We love that it's grain-free at an affordable cost. Best yet, our dogs love it! The food is nutrient-rich, and great for digestive health! We love our dogs and they love their food!

I added the canned "topper" to Daisy's dry Taste of the Wild. She liked it, but I was having to throw the remainder out because it was going bad. It costs too much to throw out. I even read the label with a magnifying glass and never saw it say to refrigerate after opening. I'll still buy the dry, but not the other. I think it could be the reason the was getting sick so often. The company didn't really act like they cared when I contacted them. Very disappointing.
Sorry you didn't know to refrigerate the can upon opening. It does say to, on the side of the can, maybe the print needs to be bigger. Will be happy to make that right. We don't have a record of your call. About how long ago was it?

Great dog food. Have used it for many years on many dogs and puppies. They all do great on it!! Wouldn't use anything else. Loved it when it was all Life Stage dog food, but glad there is now a puppy grade food. The variety and choices available are wonderful especially with the more picky eaters.

Dogs love the bison /venison flavor. I feel good about buying a grain free product that is made in USA, responsibly sourced and reasonably priced. I can get the product in Chicago and in Montana. My Dogs love it. The prey flavors are also very good. I like that there are frequent sales and price matching.

We have had outstanding success with Taste of the Wild pet food. We use the feline varieties and our cats love it. Their coats are full and shiny and even though they graze we use less food than other brands. One of our Male cats has urinary problems but not with the product. Love Taste of the Wild.
