I have had an electric fence for years without issue. Recently the collars have been going off and shocking my dogs inside the house. I have video proof but to access the "lifetime guarantee" they require a $183 service call to adjust system or replace collars.

11/30/2023. Took dumped 2 yr old St Bernard from street. $600 on shots, vaccines, groomed etc. IF came out $222.00 for training for 25 mins. Dog broke barrier 4 hrs later & is gone still on 12/7/23. All IF says is they will come out for $180 and an upgraded service double that. Supervisor hasn’t returned my call for a week. Was love at first sight w/ this poor malnourished boy & now he’s gone & Invisible Fence won’t make it right. Heartbroken & worst possible time to flush money down toilet on a terrible company. Do Not Use Invisible Fence.

We have the Invisible Fence. Our dog stopped eating and was acting strangely. We made appts with our vet and even a dentist to figure out why she had stopped eating. She wouldn’t go near her bowls. Then we realized when there are two metal bowls close to one another they trigger the shock collar. I called Invisible Fence telling them they should warn customers not to use metal bowls. They said they would come out and investigate if I paid them $179 for a service visit or otherwise I should just take off her collar in the house. Shameful. My dog will no longer go into the kitchen. She is too afraid.

I have had my Invisible Fence system for many years. A year ago or so, they closed down the local office on Whipple Ave. in Canton Ohio. Long story short, my dog’s collar went bad. It has a lifetime warranty, which was an extra fee. I called the 800 number and was told I could pay $180 for a service call or drive an hour and ten minutes to their closest location. Drove up there based on the hours posted online only to find they were only open on Thursdays 10-4. Took a second trip up there and the representative said the collar was fine.
Today, my dog was in my neighbor's yard. Decided to call the local DogWatch franchise. They are coming out on Monday to install a new system. I am done with Invisible Fence, they were great when they had local independent offices, and since going national, eliminating most of their locations, the customer service is horrible. DogWatch offers a lifetime warranty on all of their equipment and receivers. Batteries last two years. Looking forward to some peace of mind.

Two and a half week wait for emergency service call on 5 month old system. We bought the best system with free service for a year. System is down and the first tech Is not available until two and a half weeks wait for this emergency repair. Why sell free service for first year? It is not acceptable for a line break to have the system down for two and a half weeks. I would rather pay for a service call and have the system up and running in a reasonable time. I was told to use a dog leash for my three dogs… Needed to know this at the time of sale.

The concept is fine, but go with a different brand. The customer service is terrible, the price is very high and they overcharge for everything. Go with a lesser priced do-it-yourself brand. This company doesn't have good customer service at all. Don't count on their high-priced fence repair visits; they can't fit you in for three weeks. We have gotten very good at fixing it ourselves; I don't even bother trying to schedule a repair visit. I would never have chosen this brand if I knew what a complete rip-off it is.

Had a system installed in January and the ground was too cold to bury the ground wire. Install was sloppy to begin with. They never buried the ground wire. 18 months later at our request, they buried the wire that should have been done at installation. Charged us $211 to do so after we spent over $2,500 for the system, because we called them back out to finish the job. They nickel and dime their customers, techs are slobs, rude customer service. If you get their system, do not call them back for anything. Would not recommend them period.

This product for the most part works and the trainers are very knowledgeable. We had this put in prior to the snow melting and was pushed to do so to get on the schedule before they were really busy I’m starting in April. In May, someone came out to bury the line and the same day after they left I got a notification that I had a weak line which hadn’t occurred prior to burying it. The soonest anyone could come out was a month (still waiting) and now the collar beeps when my dog isn’t near the line at times and other times it doesn’t seem to be working at all. My dog mostly abides by the boundary she learned, but this is annoying at best especially after $3500. I would also add that when the initial person came out, he mentioned “oh hey there’s a line in the ground that looks like ours.” So I think the previous owner of our house probably had the same system. I didn’t inquire if my price could be negotiated at that point, but now really wish I would have.

We moved into a new house in December of 21 that already had IF installed. In Jan of 22 we had it updated and reactivated for a total of $2,088.75 that included two indoor shields and a couple training sessions. The collar has never worked. Our dog has always been able to leave the yard without problem. I called to have them come out and adjust the collar but no one ever showed up.
Fast forward, I called again today to have them come out and I was told that my maintenance subscription was expired. I could pay another $350 for the year or a one time $180 to come out and adjust the collar. There is no way to do it yourself from home so it has to be called in. I was aware of that part but not the extra fees for something that has literally NEVER worked and that I already have more than $2,000 spent upon. Suffice to say, I'm livid. I feel that someone should come out and adjust the silly collar free of any additional charge seeing as it has NEVER worked. This is a terribly run company and I would advise against using them.

Installed 5 years ago and unfortunately have had nothing but issues. From being told we have a break in the line from satellite or phone digging to lightning hit it. We were told batteries was free lifetime only to find differently. Had tech come out to turn collar down and and a couple years later noticed collar was not reading with panel and requested it to be turned up a little. We have a 30 pound dog, and observed him getting shocked (corrected) within the safe zone, yard shaking like he was electrocuted, seeing the collar was turned up too high. Eventually they closed our local office and to even speak with a technician. You had to meet them in the Target parking lot which I attempted twice and no one showed from Invisible Fence. No apologies for a no show.
I had requested a 3rd time and surprisingly had success this is when his collar was turned up. It has not been used since, our dog refuses to wear in fear of getting zapped. We were never given an option for the box to be mounted on the back of our home or in the garage only to find out later that was an option. Now we are facing a second break in our line only to find out they are not accredited with the Better Business Bureau, and sold to the corporate of Invisible Fence only to find out the company we have purchased thru and been dealing with the last five years was under a “umbrella” with their name.
We have had nothing but problems getting any issues resolved in a timely manner. We have been having problems with both the dog collar and fence since getting our fence installed. If we had the chance to do over, we would definitely go with a company who values their customer's time, TRUST and money. We regret immensely the stress and fear our dog was put thru after trusting this technician to know what he was doing. Very rude, money hungry, and not for their customers. We would never recommend.

Almost three weeks ago I booked an appointment for 4/18, on 4/17 they called saying they had to change my appointment to 4/21. She the technician arrived, he informed me that the customer service rep I booked the appointment with didn’t book the appointment for the appropriate amount of time. He informed me that he had other customers to service and that he could not do ANY of the work. And that the soonest anyone could return to do the work was in 4 days. Problem being is that I am paying $125 a day to board my dogs wherein I had already informed them if this placenta they delayed the original appointment. They didn’t have a care in the world that they messed up not once but twice.
I would NOT recommend Invisible Fence to anyone as they do not have the time or skill set to work efficiently and accurately. When they make a mistake they expect the customer to eat the cost and inconveniences. When we move In three short months I will not be contracting with them as they have no appreciation for their customers.

This is, without a doubt, the most AWFUL business I've ever encountered! Here's my experience with them... The fence was installed less than three years ago and when I recently realized it wasn't working, I called them. I was told - to my astonishment – that it's a $159.00 fee for a technician to come to the house. So, with great frustration, (and since I had no choice), I agreed and let them come. The technician came and within 5 mins figured out what the problem was (the power source, inside the house had its wires crossed and it took about a minute to fix), but then, he went outside and started digging... I thought it was bizarre and had no idea what he was doing.
Two hours later, after accomplishing absolutely nothing, the fence still wasn't working, BUT, he gave me a bill for $400.00 and demanded payment right there and then. And that's not all... He told me that in order to get the fence working again, it would need to be complexity reinstalled - for an additional $1,000.00! I was flabbergasted and told him that I cannot pay the $400.00 bill before speaking to the main office. When I called later that afternoon, I had truly the most shocking and bizarre interaction with literally anyone I've ever spoken to. When asking her to explain both the $400.00 bill and the $1,000.00 estimate, she became irate and unhinged. She turned a business call into something personal and ugly - it was truly shocking and horrendous. AFTER SCREAMING THAT SHE DOESN'T WANT MY BUSINESS, she hung up on me.
To add insult to injury, I tried – twice – to reach the corporate offices of Invisible Fence to both file a complaint and to find out how I can be reimbursed for the $1,800.00 fence that was installed less than three years ago. It's been impossible for me to reach anyone that represents the Invisible Fence brand - when you call the customer service number, you just get an answering service. I was promised (by the answering service), that someone would be contacting me from Invisible Fence... But no one ever did. So, I'm screwed... Not only is this local business run by con-artists (people I will never speak to or let on my property ever again), there is absolutely NO assistance from the corporate offices. Consider yourself warned...

The product works nicely if trainer sets and adjusts collar strength according to dog activity. Unfortunately, the trainer will refuse to take owner knowledge into consideration and, instead, makes OR DOESN'T make adjustments based on a short visit and no consideration of dog activity. Even though we have a herding dog who escapes the trainer refuses to increase strength. Additionally, IF charges $179 per visit with no guarantee. We have never hired a company that refuses to provide customers with options, refuses to take customer information into consideration and provides no guarantee on their service. Zero customer service. Horrible company.

We just moved into a new house that already had the wires for Invisible Fence installed. So obviously we chose to go with them. We spent 3000 for their new smart system with the app. At first, the collars worked fine but the app was literally useless. No notifications except low batteries. It was an extra 1k for the smart system... Called and they couldn't have anyone out for over 3 weeks!!! Tech came and installed a firmware update (I should be able to do this simply through the app) and all seemed good from there. A few weeks later one of our dogs set a collar off and after that the collar stopped working and constantly just says the dog is outside the fence.
Called and they said it would be a little over a MONTH for someone to come out and fix it. A MONTH??!! They are obviously understaffed or spending time on new installs rather than taking care of existing customers. I was told a supervisor would call me back about sending a new replacement collar the next day. That was a week ago. I'll call tomorrow in order to try to get a new collar. So far though we are NOT feeling this was money well spent at all and are seriously debating demanding our money back and getting rid of it and going with a different company. They have a lot of issues they need to fix which are mainly responsiveness (hire more techs) and their app which seems very buggy.

Corporate Invisible Fence decided to combine the Central Ohio offices. For some reason we no office open in this area after they made that decision. The east office was about 20 minutes away. I now have to drive 1 hour each way to the next nearest office to have the collar settings changed. You can have someone sent to the office however they are a month out. I owned an invisible fence when we lived in Knoxville, TN. From time to time, as with any electrical appliance, it would go out. The services we had there were phenomenal about responding to our needs and helping us resolve any issues that we had. So I expected the same when I installed an invisible fence in Chattanooga/Signal Mountain TN. They were very prompt in installing the fence, and overall I did not have any issues until very recently. Then I experienced my dogs traversing the fence. I realized it was not working and called for assistance.
This was May 02. They told me the soonest someone could help was on the 14th - 12 days away. They also stated that the dogs should always be leashed in the backyard or on a "dog line" anyway. This was a statement that was absurd to me. Why would I purchase a fence and then proceed to place my dogs on line? Not only that but it seemed that they were much more interested in installing new fences than in assisting current customers. I asked if someone could tell me where my panel was and then I could at least attempt to reset the fence myself. And no one knew where it was located. The only answer I could get from them was to call back every day to see if someone could come by and help me.
I have 3 tiny dachshunds who are very quick to figure out ways out of my metal fenced and invisible fenced yard. I could never find the panel and had to reset through the fuse box in the house eventually. They never even suggested trying this method. So if you are having trouble, please know this is one way you can reset your fence. When I called back to cancel the appointment, they still could have cared less. I would recommend the company in Knoxville anytime, but not the one in Chattanooga or Signal Mountain unless you are prepared to manage the fence on your own after you have installed it. They are only interested in obtaining your money.

We obtained the Invisible Fence almost four years ago, and in that time, we've been pleased. However, in the last few weeks, the customer service has gone downhill. The representatives are friendly and nice enough, but a complete 180 from a year prior. In 2020, we rescued a new pup after my other one passed away. IF came out within a few weeks, laid the flags, and trained her on the new system (5 minutes) and then came back a week later to turn the shock on (again, 5 minutes).
I paid around $160 bucks or so (including the collar, but we had the receiver). They even came out two more times to adjust her receiver at no charge. Fast forward to this year (2021), new pup, called to get him trained on the receiver. Was told it was around $375. I asked how was it so much when just a year prior with the same circumstances, it was half that cost. She then tells me there is a one-time training that they can do for $160 but any adjustments after, we'd have to drive down to the office to have done. AGAIN...why, a year prior, did we have two trainings and two additional adjustments at my home, for the same price? She couldn't answer that.
On top of that, we already have an appointment scheduled to have our line repaired from a Verizon mishap. I asked if we could combine the appointments, and she said no because there wasn't enough time. I asked how that was, when the last training session took 5 minutes? She couldn't answer me. It's clear they just want the additional service fee money because the logic in their explanations is severely flawed. Like some other reviewers, I really wish we had just built a fence. This is a money-hungry company and they don't give a crap about you or your dogs.

Beware. The company charges $105 dollars to drive out to your house to fix the problem. Then you can pay for labor and materials. After paying for installation and the batteries, every three months, which aren't inexpensive I feel like this is just money gouging on their part. You are stuck having them come out to fix the problem so you have to pay this driving fee. I wish I had put in a true fence. If I move again I will not do an Invisible Fence.

When I say it "Doesn't work", what I mean is that it usually works. We have followed all the instructions offered to us by the company, but every 2-4 weeks, one of my dogs decides that it's no big deal and they just walk past it. Several times I've walked around the neighborhood yelling my dog's name trying to get them to come back. It's only a matter of time before one of them gets struck by a car, gets stolen, or just never comes back. I'm into this setup for over 4000 USD now and still chasing my dogs around the neighborhood. So it works most of the time. Which is to say, it doesn't work.

When she finally did, shortly after a year, the collar stopped working and our pup would wander away without correction. We called for assistance and were told we would need a $90 service fee despite the significant expense it took to install. They continued to tell us about their lifetime warranty yet wouldn’t come assist without additional payment. I accidentally called a competitor first for assistance and they agreed to send a rep out immediately. Once I realized it was actually the invisible fence and called them instead - crickets.. I paid for a fence. Took a long trip to the office for my second dog. They didn't like it because I couldn't give them 400+ dollars to let them train him. I trained him myself. They wouldn't turn the fence up high enough so he couldn't escape without me giving them 140+ dollars more. Lady said it was their protocol. I didn't have the extra money with this being the pandemic and work hours short etc. I just feel like they really didn't care and greed was in front of them caring.
My dog (and he is a little dog) escaped the fence twice. All I asked them to do was turn his collar up a level or two. I know my dog, had him since he was 6 wks old. He is now 1 1/2 yrs. and very intelligent. She just kept giving me excuses as to why she couldn't turn his collar up without a trainer training him again which would cost me a lot more money after purchasing a fence (which was expensive enough) from them. I felt their service was very poorly handled when it comes to customer/client care and concerns for my pet. I highly would not recommend this company!

The GPS collar takes time to connect with the satellite. This could be anywhere from 2 minutes to 10 minutes. Our first collar took 15 minutes to connect. They came and replaced it. This one takes 2-10. But when the dog is in the garage under our STEEL ROOF it disconnects with the GPS so every time he comes out of the garage it takes 2-10 minutes. That would be enough time to run across the road and get hit by a car. Not happy with the disconnecting signal. This cost a lot of money for the inability to work all the time. So if you have a steel roof this isn’t for you. They don’t tell you that thou.

The invisible fence itself works well. Our dogs stay where they are supposed to be without issue. The problem is that once we agreed to the install it's been sell, sell, sell. They also left out some pretty important information. The system was installed and worked great until I edged my grass. What you aren't told is that the wire will only be buried 1" deep. If you don't care for your lawn then no problem but no more edging, aerating or putting anything sharp in the ground more than 3/4". Some of ours isn't even under the beauty bark of the planter it runs through. Don't worry though, they would be happy to send someone out to fix it.
This costs hundreds of dollars by the way, if you don't want it fixed they will gladly charge you to have someone come out and make the beeping stop (This is done by unplugging the unit from the wall) or they will sell you a repair kit (Yes, it's a butt splice that you can buy for 50 cents at any home improvement store). I guess I'll keep digging up my grass every year but am hoping I can help someone else from suffering the same fate.

They want to charge me twice what I originally paid while also advertising half price installation for new customers. Ok. I have a new pup that I want to keep in. My other dog who has passed kept running through it. The owner told me they charge $25 per 15 min. $100 an hour? And I am an existing customer who bought their weak system already. We recently purchased a home with an invisible fence so when we adopted our rescue dog we were excited that we would be able to let her run and play in our yard. A representative came out for a consultation. He took our money and said a trainer/tech would come out to check functionality, put training flags out and train dog. When we didn’t hear back, we contacted Invisible Fence yet they had no record of the rep coming out. They were in process of sending another rep out for a consult?? Eventually a tech came out. We have no complaints about the tech/trainer. He was pleasant and professional. However, we were told someone would come back within a week to do a second session. We had given the trainer more money because we needed to buy a new collar (expensive). We never received an email confirmation or call letting us know when the tech/trainer would come back.
After a week passed (today), we had to contact them again. Our dog still can’t use the yard yet we paid in full. In addition, it took several attempts to contact Invisible fence initially. Kept getting a message that the line had been disconnected. Once we were finally able to talk to someone, no apologies were made for that or for the misunderstanding when another rep was on the way instead of the tech/trainer. So far we are very unhappy and skeptical of Invisible Fence. Perhaps their lack of communication has to do with the pandemic but it would be nice to hear “sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience”. Hopefully we will be seeing a technician in the near future. Update: we just spoke to customer service and he confirmed there was no second visit scheduled. The Indoor Shields Plus Transmitter at $189 is an expensive but effective product to deter pets from areas, within your house. However, over time the battery will no longer hold a charge. I bought my units (2) in 2013. I used them but regularly. I called the company and was told that the units have a two year warranty which is not included on their website in their product descriptor as of today, 3/19/2020. I pointed that out and I suspect they will be updating that information. I have no issue with the batteries wearing out. My issue is that there is no way to replace the batteries and that information, and warranty were not disclosed at my time of purchase.

We have had Invisible Fence for nearly four years. We were satisfied for the most part until our dog who was peacefully sleeping inside the house woke up abruptly squealing for nearly 30 seconds before we realized it was his collar that was shocking him when it was not supposed to. When I took it off I was shocked by the collar and I set it down on the table. My husband picked it up and he was also shocked. Needless to say, we did not put the collars back on. I called customer service and was told that I could either pay $110 to have a technician come and look and see if there was a problem, and then they could change the frequency of the receiver as it might have been triggered by an outside line.
In addition, she informed me that I could also take it in or she could walk me through the process of changing the frequency. When I stated that the problem was on their end she reported that it was their policy and that she could not do anything about it. In addition she stated that she would not guarantee if this would work. I called back after deciding that we would need to do something for our dogs. Another person was then on the line and told me that they would not be able to replace the collar even though it was covered under the warranty until they saw something wrong with it. I stated that it is faulty as it went off inside the house and that it should be replaced under my warranty. He coldly said no, that is not what would happen as they had to first determine if the dog would it had indeed malfunctioned.
How many more dogs need to be needlessly shocked before they determine that their equipment had malfunctioned? How callow they were and he also stated that there was no higher up that I could talk. This is my only way of expressing extreme disappointment. Do not recommend to anyone. I can't even cancel the service as the equipment is paid for and there is no termination of contract.

My electronic fence was great for years and kept my dog safe until a tree came down on the neutral wire broke it. The do it yourself repair kit (which I had to inquire) cost $8.50 vs. $149.00 diagnostic visit from employees. We fixed the fence ourselves and then the collar stopped sending an electrical charge, it beeped but no correction charge. They control the 'level' of charge going to the collars, you cannot change or check the correction level yourself.
After several phone calls to the company, the entire bill to fix the problem would be between $400.00 and $549.00. After purchasing the fence and all the expense, it would seem you are on your own afterward. I truly felt they did not care and only wanted more money compounded with the obsorbinate cost of the fence. Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement.

Our fence has worked well and we were pleased with the installation and trainer. All was well until our dog’s collar device fell off the collar. I contacted customer service to enact the warranty. They explained that because we couldn’t find the device we would have to pay $400.00 for a new one, as the warranty did not apply to lost collars. I explained that we didn’t lose the collar. Our dog was still wearing it. The device had fallen off.
Nonetheless, we had to buy a new one in order to keep our dog protected. I was assured, however, that if the broken piece turned up I could send it in for a refund. The broken piece was eventually found. I reached out to the customer service agent who I had worked with. She never responded. I tried again with an email to the general customer service, again no response. I then sent a request through a system on the official website for a customer service agent to contact me. Still no response. I have been quite disappointed!

The system cost $3500 and is not reliable. The collars fail regularly. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. The technician doesn't have an answer for that. The boundaries are variable as well. We also had the system at a secondary location. Our dog got corrected when she was where she was supposed to be. Fortunately we were with her when it happened and quickly took off the collar. I know there are some issues with in ground systems as well but you aren't spending $3500.

I appreciate the protection from the busy street nearby that our invisible fence provides. However, I've been deeply disappointed with Invisible Fence's customer service. They sold me a very expensive dog door that never worked, they've come to "fix" it multiple times, to no avail. This has made training our dog to use the door even more difficult because it so often doesn't work. The last time a support person came out to work on the door they said they'd be getting a replacement and actually left the house with the door completely uninstalled. However, they never followed up. Now when I call the company they say that the notes from that visit declare that the door was working. They apparently don't have the records of who entered that into the system or who came to my house, so they can't follow up with them either. I am beyond frustrated at the time and money wasted on this issue and the disrespectful way I've been treated as a customer.

With Invisible Fence, we've trained 4 dogs over the years on one acreage property. Now the whole office team, especially Jonas **, have helped us set up a new system in a smaller neighborhood yard. He came out and in 5 minutes solved a problem with our new system/old collar that gave our dog outside freedom again. No better customer service out there!

We do love our fence and feel that it works great and keeps our dogs on our property. My problem with them is once it's installed and they made the sale that is the END of their customer service. EVERYTHING costs money. And not a little bit, a LOT. They aren't too concerned about your satisfaction after you spent $2000 on the fence so do not expect anything beyond the install. I mean EVERYTHING costs. They really nickel and dime you. Just a warning.

We installed the Boundary Plus on 9/11/2018. Since then we've had to have 3 installation appointments (they couldn't get a walkway completed correctly) & three additional wire break problems for a back wooded area where the line can't be installed in ground and is being broken by a small animal (rabbit, squirrel etc). Each time a wire break has occurred, the system has been down for 3-5 days, we have been charged $150-$200 per visit and there has been a discussion about how this could happen/how a permanent solution can be found.
The installer, Candy, did see our property, did see that there is a back wooded area (and also advised on how we could include our walkway which was such a problem at installation), but never mentioned that an OUTSIDE product can't withstand things such as rabbits and bunnies. IF she had advised on either as being a problem, we would have re-evaluated our buying decision and/or changed where the wire was installed to ensure that all areas were installed with durability as the top priority. Education is key here but since we didn't have any indication of this, I have called Invisible Fence and asked to speak with the owner.
This is when their true unprofessionalism began to reveal itself. The owner was unavailable since she was traveling for work (curios) and I have yet to receive a phone call back from her to discuss the problem. However, I did speak with two very unprofessional ladies, Candy and Laura, who in both email and phone calls were completely taken aback that this is a problem and said it's uncommon. I find that shocking since we live in WA state where there are many outdoor critter such as rabbits, mice, rats, squirrels.
First Candy reminded us that we were given a free product upgrade (all caps in her email) as if we should somehow be grateful for their inability to deliver on their installation (which you pay around $700 for with this product), and how that should maybe overshadow any future problems with the product? We were also advised to get someone out to remedy our pest problem but I promise you that no company can effectively rid pest from a forested area. This should have been a conversation during product consultation.
The responsibility to educate consumers on your product lies with the company. I am happy to provide copies of emails and specific call dates into the company. I'm also still waiting to hear back from the company and will most likely be asking for a removal of the product and a full refund since we are within our 90 day evaluation period.

I was a little worried while shopping for a electric fence because I didn't know what it would take, how long it would take, how hard it would be, but it was easy for me and my husband to install. It took me and my husband no time at all to get it up and running. It works well with keeping my dogs in the yard! It works perfectly for us and our family, too.

I like that Invisible Fence protects my dogs from running into the street, which they would inevitably do no matter how well trained because sometimes they get over-excited and forget. They know now not to even approach the street because they know the Invisible Fence is there. However, I worry it will hurt my dog, and while it is good they are afraid of the street I feel bad that they're a little afraid of the perimeter because of the shock. Nevertheless, it's effective at keeping our dogs from leaving our yard without us because they know the fence is there if they try to leave and will get an uncomfortable shock. They were easily trained to avoid the shock and thus running away out of the yard. At this point we don't even worry about our dogs going out.

The setup instruction were a little confusing to grasp at first. However, as soon as I figured it out it only took me a few hours to get it all set up. I was able to do it all on my own. No heavy lifting or stress involved. Was able to get it done within the matter of a day so I could let my dog out without worry. It is definitely effective. I like how reliable it is and it was very affordable. The ease of use was so nice for your average dog owner. It was so nice to just walk our dogs around the fenced area to let them know where they can and cannot go and they understood very quickly the shock was not harmful and I loved that the level could be adjusted to higher or lower levels of shocks and easy to install. There were times when the fence would not work but our dogs got so used to the fence and collar it did not matter much to my dogs. I would like it if more than one collar came with a fence and it did not cost so much to buy another one that would make it a lot more convenient for those who have multiple dogs and if you could find replacement batteries at more stores that would be very helpful to your average customer. Other than that, I loved the fence and it worked great for our family dogs. I would definitely recommend this to other fellow dog owners.

The electric fence was very easy to install yourself. We installed it in one day. It is very easy to maintain, and the collars are comfortable on the dogs. I would like to see the company of Invisible Fence, find a battery to use in the device that lasts longer put on the collar. The batteries for the fence are more expensive and when you have multiple dogs like I do, it can add up in price because the price range is higher. I understand if the battery was stronger and lasted longer then the price would be higher, but we wouldn't have to buy the batteries so much so it would be a lot easier financially.

It shorted out in the line and we couldn't find where it was broken. I would recommend it for smaller dogs but not very big dogs, especially ones that are strong-willed. We have a two hundred lb Rottweiler, and after a while, he would run right through it. It needs to be made more durable and a little stronger for big dogs. It was a pain to install yourself in a big yard. I would personally get a professional to install if I did it again. But it has been so long since we had it, that I am sure they have improved it!

I also like the fact that once she learns her boundaries I can take the collar off and trust that she will stay within those boundaries by memory. I would like it to have other humane features, be a bit cheaper and not have to buy extra parts and pieces. I think that a big Improvement would be to add a vibration mode and or a sound mode instead of just an electric shock. It's also hard and time-consuming to install. I liked the fact that it was a fence that kept my dog in the yard but there wasn't actually a fence there. My dogs love running to people when they walk past and my 80 and 50 lb dog can be a little scary running full speed. So this way I could leave them in the yard and not worry about them. However, my biggest problem is the actual base of this fence has to be in the center of everything and if you have a longer house than wide it makes it very difficult to set up the perimeter of the fence. But I think it is pretty easy to set up and use. You have to set the collar with the box. Then ace the box in the middle of the perimeter then you put the collar on your dog. Make sure to walk your dog around the perimeter so he or she knows where they can go.

The Invisible Fence really did everything that I needed and expected that it would do. I needed something to keep my dog in the yard and I did not want to put up an actual fence. I liked training with a beep before shocking the dogs. They really didnt get shocked very often but still stayed in the yard, I'm sure others dogs would learn quickly also with owners taking the time with them. A long leash was provided to train the boundaries. We were set up on automatic battery replacement so it's one less thing to remember. The expense and at that time the collars were quite large for a smaller dog and it was pricey to purchase the smaller collar when they came out. Nothing is inexpensive. We didnt do the installation ourselves, that was part of the purchase. The training process was fairly simple, yes it was effective for us. You just need to know what boundaries you want and then take the time to work with your pets. I would install at a different location if I moved.

I don't like that the prongs from the collar have an issue reaching the dogs sling through thick fur. It's a hassle to have to put lotion on the dogs. It was very easy to install the fence in the yard an it was also easy to train the dogs of where it was and what would happen if they went into the area of the fence. They helped train us as to show the dogs where the fence was and how to reprimand them if they went through the fence. They also showed us how to get them out of the fence if they went through it.

It's very easy to use and it's easy to install but very time consuming. The installation process is the most hands on experience with the whole thing. You have to measure and then bury the wire. And it takes a long time to hide the wires beneath the ground. Once the ground work is laid it is easy peasy lemon squeezy from there and they give you a well planned out guide on how to do it all which is great. After that, it's as easy as putting the collar on your dog and turning it on.
But if the collar breaks or malfunctions in any way it is your responsibility to buy a new one which is very expensive. It costs almost as much as paying for a whole new unit which is ridiculous and way too much to pay for just a collar. So basically without the collar you just have a box with some wires buried in the ground so it becomes useless. Not what I would call good on their part.

Invisible Fence is an affordable solution for us at under $300. The system we purchased was one inside plug-in unit that emitted a perimeter signal. Place your perimeter flags in the yard and plug your base in and out the collar on your pet. Walk him to each perimeter and let the unit issue the warning. Easy and very effective. Also this version didn't require us to dig trenches and bury wires -- it was basically plug and play. There's collar correction so that dog must return to the yard for the shock to stop although I would like to be able to link more than one collar to the base unit so that all of my dogs were on the system at the same time. Loved too that we could take it with us even on evacuations. The number one feature for us was portability.

It was rather expensive and hard to gauge the range I had to set the Invisible Fence up at. It was hard to figure some of the features out however and measure the radius on which I had to set it up to get the maximum use of the product. But I would definitely use again.

Invisible fence helps keep my dogs on my property without installing a fence. Friends had it installed and I saw how it worked for them before I purchased mine. I did not wish to install a fence. If I installed a fence, it would spoil my view. It would also be an added expense and would also involve upkeep of the fence. I did not to buy a fence and stain or paint it. It is relatively easy to install. It was installed quickly and was completed in less than a day.
It is very effective keeping them on my property. It shocks my dogs if they go past the boundary. I wish there was another way to keep them on my boundary without shocking them. At first they tested it and got shocked. They quickly learned and stopped going near the boundary line to avoid getting shocked and both my dogs are now safe from getting hit by traffic.
