Sunday March 8th 2020 I administered Feline Frontline to my Cat who was 15 pounds and 10 years old. Monday March 9th 2020 I came home from work and found him lying in my bedroom floor having seizures. My husband and I wrapped him in a towel and started our way to the emergency vet. Before we made it to the end of our road we live on my beloved passed away. We adopted him when he was two years old. He was only an indoor cat and had just had a healthy checkup at the vet. I cannot honestly say that Front-Line caused his death but it is ironic. Kitty Heaven is he.

Carey - 8 years old - mixed breed - 35 lbs. We applied Frontline Gold for the first time ever to our dog on 01/16/20. Within 5 hours she would randomly scream out in pain/because she was scared and jump into our arms. At the time we thought maybe she hurt her leg or back and would touch her spine, rotate her legs, etc. without finding any indication of soreness anywhere on her body. This would happen sporadically on Friday and Saturday. By Saturday evening, it was happening more frequently. And at this point we realized that our dog was having mild seizures. She was not losing consciousness, but she would cry out/get this look about her and then burrow into us and her whole little body would tense up, she would lick her lips (salivating), and stretch out her neck and put her head high into the air.

We took her to the emergency vet and they have since started her on seizure medication and a sedative for now because she is absolutely terrified when one starts to come on. Secondly, she is spending the day at her primary vet receiving fluids and staying under observation - and we will do this again tomorrow. Her behavior is different - she is very clingy - and she has tremors constantly. We feel completely helpless.

Carey was in perfect health prior to application of the Frontline Gold and nothing else has changed in her routine other than that. Frontline refuses to accept ANY responsibility. In fact, when we asked how to get their medication out of her, their only response was to bathe her - which we did 3 times. This medication is so poorly researched that they do not even have a way to reverse it if a dog has a reaction - and that is because according to them, "it is impossible for their product to cause these symptoms."

We are really hoping to wean her off of the seizure meds by the end of the month once the Frontline should be worn off. I really hope she will be able to go back to normal once the poison is out of her body. Frontline should be ashamed of both the fact that they poorly researched this medication/did not provide accurate side effects to the customer, and the fact that they so easily just say it is impossible for their product to cause any of this. DO NOT USE THEIR PRODUCTS. It simply isn’t worth it.

Frontline Gold was purchased & administered to my cat 12/11 @ vet clinic. Brought in healthy, came home & sneezed for several days, scratched & licked obsessively causing loss of hair, peeling pads and lumps appearing on various parts of body. Cat has lost appetite for food & water and has lost weight. She is in pain, disassociating any human contact, constantly sleeping in secluded, dark places in home. Fearing her death, took back to vet for help. Paid $330 for bloodwork (CBC) to check for liver &/or kidney maladies; ruled out all fatal cat diseases; rec’d skin scrape 2, ** 80 mg/ml injection; provided ** .3 for pain maintenance.

Problems arose soon after arriving home. It’s been 2 wks (since12/11) and no “cure” in sight. I empathize w/ every complaint registered on Frontline products manufactured in recent years. Hefty price to pay for expected product quality - to suffer w/ pet owners trying to receive a harmless remedy for flea extermination - some of whom have loved & lost their pets.

I have yet to feel confident my Skye will survive this “poison”, and believe many more will complain. Every review I have read and all of them share commonality. Nothing changes until concern and affirmative action is taken. Hope you can assist all of us. There shouldn’t be this many 1-star complaints encompassing several states, age/gender and probable ethnic differences.

My cat is an older indoor feline and only goes out occasionally on the front porch. I have been treating him with Frontline Gold and called the vet because it does not seem to be working. He said I can give to him 2 times a month instead of once and that seems to be working a bit better. I do think the fleas build a resistance to these meds, only wish they were a bit cheaper since they seem to take so long to start working.

So, do something about it ‘cause I bought your product, and now I killed my pets. This is ridiculous. I need more than reimbursement. So, I’d like to hear back.

Their money back guarantee is a joke!!! I purchased a 6 dose Frontline Plus for my dogs. After 10 days there was no change or relief. Treated them with another dose. It got worse. I went back and purchased ** and saw a noticeable change within 48 hours. I called to express my concerns. I was told in order for the money back guarantee I had to treat for 3 months. My dog was bleeding in spots from the chewing/scratching. I was NOT subjecting her to that for 3 months when it was clear that after one month your treatment was not working. I was just told by one of your representatives (reading from a script) that how your product works is that it kills adult fleas and keeps females from laying more eggs.

I am shocked you have not been sued for false advertising. I am looking at my box right now and is clearly states it kills fleas, flea eggs and larvae. That is NOT what I was just told. I was told I would continue to see fleas for 30+ days because the eggs that were already laid would hatch and NOT until they bit my dog would they die. THAT IS NOT WHAT YOUR BOX SAYS!!! I spent almost $70 dollars on this treatment for it to not work and be given the run around when asking for your money back guarantee. I will definitely post a review wherever I can warning people about your product and your horrible customer service. You better change the labeling on your box as to not tell people your product kills flea eggs and larvae when your reps are telling people otherwise over the phone!

When I complained to the the company they sent me a questionnaire to fill out - I filled it out and they replied rather flippantly- saying they are picking them up from outside. Before that I was using Advantage but was buying it from the chemist but at £27 for 3 pipettes it was too expensive - but it worked. My cats are 15, 15 and 16 years old and I don't really want to keep stressing them out with fortnightly defleaing, hoovering several times a day and bathing in cat shampoo which they all hate) so I'm now trying Advantage again and getting it a lot cheaper online - hope this works.

After two ear hematomas and an abscess to my little dog leg I found out he’s suffering from a flea allergy and of course it’s costed me!! Finally the doctor's office told me that Frontline Plus hasn’t worked for a couple years now and they prescribed NexGard which I found is from this same lying company. But I used it because I was desperate and within a week he’s better and stopped shaking his head and scratching. Still to doctor's office told me to use nexgard only as needed (Not monthly) because it isn’t good for your pet.

I purchased Frontline for my cat, from a Walmart store in Hamilton, NJ. My cat was a very loving cat, very playful, wake me up every morning, and just a part of my family. I applied Frontline on my cat on Thursday night, 10/3/19. On early Monday morning 10/7/19, all of a sudden, my cat's body began to start jumping, flipping, and he started to shake and seizure. His chest began to jump, and his heart began to race extremely fast, and then he died on us. After being in complete shock, an emotional wreck, and angry, I decided to contact Frontline and let them know what their product killed my cat. The person that I spoke to, asked me a few questions, gave me a reference number, and told me that someone will contact me asap.

Today is Friday, 10/11/19, and I have yet to receive a call from anyone. These people have no remorse, or care about our animals, yet they sell these deadly products. We spend our hard earn money, buying these costly products to help our pets, and these products are now killing them. I am totally devastated, and miss my cat so very much. I feel sorry that I didn't try a different Flea and Tick brand this time, because I read a few reviews with concerns about the formula changing, but I just thought that it wasn't true. :-(

Last year I adopted a cat. Since he often goes outside I resorted to frontline. This kitty runs everywhere, unlike my dog. He brought back fleas. I was so shocked. I'd treated him with frontline plus 2 weeks prior to noticing fleas. After seeing fleas on both I bathed them in flea shampoo, cleared the house & treated them with frontline. Every week I wash their beds, bath them & spray & vacuum. 2 months later I'm done with frontline. Switched to advantage & now I can stop spending money on cleanup finally.

I called the company at 1-800-660-1842 because after 13 years of using Frontline Plus monthly on my 2 older dogs, my dogs have fleas. (I also used this same product on my other dogs for years prior.) Their customer service representative explained to me the life cycle of the flea and how the medicine works multiple times (which I was told that I obviously didn't understand) and the change in weather conditions, as if I'm ignorant and the weather hasn't changed at all in 13 years.

The customer service representative told me I didn't understand the product. She may be right about that, but, even with my ignorance, I have managed to keep the fleas at bay for 13 years! It doesn't keep fleas off (I agree), and they have to bite the animal & may live for 14 hours after that (I also agree)....judging the number of fleas on my dog, he must have just jumped into a bed of fleas & returned to it multiple times just to make sure he was sufficiently covered. I thought I had no reason to check for fleas since he was being treated regularly...so imagine my surprise! The product has a stamp on it saying "satisfaction guaranteed." However, you must prove that you purchased the product & used it for 3 months consecutively. So, do you send them an empty box with a receipt? How do they know you've actually used it?

Not only that, but they also asked for proof of administration over the last 3 months for my 2 dogs & 2 indoor cats (which I can't provide because we haven't had our rescue cat for 3 months yet), and we use a different product for the cat. Surprisingly, our indoor cats do not have fleas, nor do we. Also, I don't always drive to the vet to pick up this particular product since it is readily available at many different locations now. (My vet's office is about 30 minutes away.) I made a road trip to the vet as soon as I determined the dogs were covered & picked up a recommended oral tablet. Magically, the fleas were gone, dead, within a few hours!

I recommended the company check the lot (which she recorded) & offered to send my remaining 2 doses out of 6 to be checked for active medicine (she rejected the offer). They are obviously not concerned whether or not they're selling a quality product or one that MAY have no active medicine or less than the amount listed in the ingredients. Needless to say, I won't be buying that product again. She (the representative) convinced me it was a useless product and a waste of money! (Other information: we live on a few acres of land so there's not close contact with other animals, only occasional animals passing through.)

FYI: Merial is now part of Boehringer Ingelheim. **this is also on their website.** BI is a manufacturer of many human meds --- hopefully they're more concerned about their human consumers than they are their "pets" "New human just brought home FRONTLINE Plus. See ya never, fleas and ticks. #GameChanger" -- this is quote from their website! #yeah, right!

TLDR: This product sucks. Don't waste your money or your time. I put this on my indoor only kitten about 3 days after I adopted her (around July 1st). She was about 12 weeks old at the time. This past weekend on July 28th I noticed she started itching a lot and shaking her head and found what looked like flea dirt. I was skeptical because I knew she was on the medication but I gave her a bath to check. To my horror all the fleas came up to her face. Unsure if she got it at the vet or someone just tracked it in since we've never had a problem with fleas. Looking back at my videos, what looked like harmless scratches or head shakes (which I thought was due to her long ear hairs getting tickled) dated back all the way to July 7th.

I was very confused since I knew she had the medication. I contributed it to maybe human error or maybe the medication has worn off. I reapplied on July 28th. She's isolated in one room of the house, I've been vacuuming once to twice a day (toys, carpet, tower, etc.), wiping surfaces down, and I've been diligently combing her 2 times a day so she doesn't get flea build up or itch too badly. Luckily I caught my infestation rather early with only about 15-20 fleas on her to start. It is now Wednesday and I found a flea on her very much alive. No signs of dying at all. This product does not work and maybe I'll just stick to Dawn dish soap baths since obviously it works better than this junk.

But second, even if it was okay, that would have overdosed my cats. I can't even think about the worst outcome! I called Amazon and was refunded, but I also called Merial. This was clearly an issue at their plant - where the vials were sealed in the wrong foil pack. Very scary. They're going to send me out a replacement and they want me to send them everything so they can investigate further. I emailed photos and am waiting for the label to send the stuff back. BE CAREFUL! I don't want you to lose a kitty! Check your medication before applying it.

On May 10, 2019 I noticed my dog scratching and gave her a bath. She had fleas so I went to PetSmart and purchased the 6 dose pack of Frontline Plus for Dogs and applied it. I also purchased another product for my smaller dog, which I will also write a review on! I spent $146.39 on products that did NOTHING! On May 18th I had paid my exterminator to come a treat the yard because I still noticed fleas. He informed me that the product does not work, that fleas get immune to it. I was still noticing fleas and scratching, so yesterday I ended up having to pick up flea treatment from my vet, which is again not cheap!!! So pretty much a month and still have fleas! I called PetSmart to see if I could get at least some of my money back and won’t go into detail about the ignorance of some people. I was told that fleas do not become immune to the product and was asked how long I had been using it.

I informed them that this was the first time I ever had to treat for fleas. Three sentences later, was told the product will not work if you have been using it for a long time! SERIOUSLY! Do you know the definition of immune!!!! GUESS NOT! I decided to contact the company! What a waste of time!!!! They said that your dog will still get fleas. It kills them before they can reproduce and that there is nothing stating that fleas become immune. The rep also stated that you need to use the product for 3 months. Well who wants to wait three months to see if a product is going to work! Amazing how after 1 day of treatment from medication from the vet, yep you guessed it, NO FLEAS OR SCRATCHING! If you want to waste your money and continue to have fleas you should purchase this product! And do not count on customer service to be of any help!

I noticed a flea on the cat that eventually died (probably three weeks after the previous application of Frontline Plus) and decided to bathe her. There must have been hundreds of fleas on this poor animal. I checked another cat, bathed him, and sure enough, hundreds of fleas came off him, too. He is recovering. I would give this product zero stars if allowed because it is NOT doing what the company claims it should do, thus deceiving pet owners, leading to severe illness and even deaths! Why is this being allowed?

Frontline Gold for cats is less effective than Frontline Gold for dogs but neither product keeps fleas away for an entire month. I have tried applying it after a bath and up to 5 days before a bath but it's the same result. This month is worse than last month. After applying Frontline Gold 2 weeks ago and bathing my kitty 1 week ago, he had live fleas crawling on him yesterday. He never leaves the home and he only has contact with my dog. Since it's not safe to apply another product yet, he had another bath last night. I had this same experience with Frontline in 2013. That time, I had to use Revolution then Comfortis to kill the fleas after using Frontline. I will be switching to a different product as soon as I find one that is safe and effective.

When they shaved her belly for ultrasound, she was INFESTED WITH FLEAS... That is what was causing the anemia, and in turn, causing her liver issues. Vet told me Frontline is garbage and switched her to Bravecto. 48 hours, several B12 boosters, some fancy pricey vet prescribed cat food, and $1400 later, she's eating again. I started all house pets on Frontline Plus and began a strict regiment of sprays with growth inhibitors and DE, as I don’t want to bomb the house because of lung cancer issues. By the end of October, one of the House cats was so sick I took her to the vets. Well, nearly $1,000.00 later, I’m treating her for anemia from fleas.

On Friday 22 June 2018 I put Frontline Plus on my 20 year old much beloved pussycat. On Saturday 23 June he became lethargic, shivered, threw up and began to lose large clots of fur where the Frontline had been place on his back at the base of his neck. One drop had fallen on his head, and that fur also began to come out. We became very concerned and call our vet and made an appointment. On 26 June the vet came, and examined our cat. She gave him a steroid shot, and started him on an antibiotic.

On 27 June I called Merial, Inc. the company that markets Frontline. I was routed to a woman, and it was much like having a conversation with a robot. It was immediately obvious that mine was not her first call on this subject. She asked me if our cat had become lethargic? Had he vomited? How long was it from putting on the medicine to his fur falling out. When I answered her questions she immediately gave me a case number, and went into her patter. I told her I had pictures, and I was pretty sure our vet would write a diagnostic report. Her response was, "We have protocols for that," "So you will have to do what you think best." "Without the receipt and lot number however, I am afraid we will not be able to do anything."

I told her we had purchased the Frontline early in the Fall of the previous year and asked her if she had every one of her grocery store receipts from nine months ago. She said, she didn't make the regulations, which I assured her I understood, and that there was nothing personal in what I was saying. She reiterated that without the receipt she could not proceed. Shortly after that I got a $301 invoice from the vet. All I can say is that if you have a beloved pussycat companion, avoid this product like a plague.

They were out of Pet Armor so I spent more money and purchased frontline and I have fleas coming out of the ying yang. I called the company and told them I have used a 2 month supply so far and I have fleas which I have not seen in at least 10 years by using Pet Armor. I have no carpet and I have thoroughly cleaned my house and washed all the linens to no relief. The company was very unsympathetic, did not offer me a refund or replacement and said it takes three months before it works. Their excuses are lame and I will check every product I use and make sure it is not made by Merial, Inc. Their products suck along with their lack of concern. I can see their only concern is taking money and giving water in return.

I have 3 in/outdoor cats & 2 small dogs that only go out in our side yard to potty. One of our cats has a severe flea allergy that causes him to break out in painful scabs, so I keep flea meds on them all year. I normally buy Advantage but Petco was out of product for cats, so I decided to try out FL+ on all our cats to see if maybe it would as well as Advantage. I bought a 3mo supply of FL+ for the cats & Advantage 2 for the dogs & applied exactly as directed. It's as though I have not put anything on the cats. My cat with the flea allergy has to go in tomorrow for an injection because this product is crap. It's bad enough FL+ cost much more than Advantage, but now I have to pay for a vet visit & injection. To make matters worse, he can't have another flea treatment for nearly two weeks because he was treated with FL+ on September 16 (It's October 5 today).

I do not recommend buying this product unless you have money to blow & or you don't care if your pet suffers from flea infestation. If I could give zero stars, that's what I'd give because that's what this product deserves. UPDATE: After speaking with our vet, he informed me that the maker of Frontline let the patent expire on the active ingredient used in FL. The reason for this because cats have become immune to it. Many of the cheaper brands of flea treatment such as Pet Armor & some pet store brands have the same active ingredient that FL does. They continue to sell Frontline because people still buy it. He recommends Advantage Multi for cats. It's only available at a vet. He said Frontline for dogs still seems to work for treating fleas & ticks. I hope this information will be helpful to those who are wanting to find out which products work best to control fleas/ticks on their pets.

I am extremely disappointed with the product quality and lack of consumer care by Frontline. I raised a concern with them since treating both my cat and dog to their Frontline Plus monthly treatment which made both my pets physically sick and the fleas remained on them. The response I received from them was that my house was infested and I should hoover 'more often'. It was an insult. My main concern was the well being of my pets health having suffered physical side effects from administering what should be a simple flea/tick prevention. They were due to investigate this with my Vet but I have since heard no more from them. I will NEVER use their treatment/products again nor would I ever recommend them! I know of several others who have experienced the same suffering with their dogs when applying this treatment so there is clearly an issue that needs investigating and looking into yet I feel this has not been taken seriously by Frontline.

I have religiously used Frontline for my pets for many years. I have not had a problem until this year. I apply it on time every single month. I change to Frontline Gold for the past 3 months. My dog had been itching but I assumed it was dry skin because how on earth could be fleas. I took him in for grooming and they found fleas on him they asked what product I use. When I said Frontline, they said yes there's a problem with Frontline this year given the weather conditions that we've experienced and the amount of fleas that are out there. Said all the pets that have come in that unexpectedly had fleas they noticed a trend that the owners were using Frontline. They suggested that I use a different product. My dog was given a special flea bath and I treated my house. Should also mention that I have a quarterly pest control service for my property which includes treating the yard for fleas, spiders, ants, etc.

I called Frontline today given they are supposed to guarantee their product. She asked me numerous questions and instantly tried to blame it on me allowing the dog to go to the bathroom outside. She said you can see fleas on the dog and they all die within 30 minutes to 12 hours so just seeing a flea on the dog does not mean it's not working. She finally came around to saying that yes we guarantee our product and if I send in the balance of what I have plus detailed itemized receipt they would provide a refund. As I said, and I told her, I have use this product for years without issue why would I keep the receipt? I was three months into a six-month pack.

I guarantee I won't use this product anymore not only because of its ineffectiveness but their apparent lack of interest in backing their product. Her comment to me was we've not had any bad batches and that's not the problem. Well yes apparently there's a problem especially now that I'm looking at all these other reviews! So, I have been a Frontline fan from the time I was younger with my first dog, worked great! That being said, we automatically used it for our GSD Shadow. We have always followed the instructions to the T, applied it on time and also our vet recommended putting it on her while she was still dirty because the dog's natural oils help spread the topical meds more efficiently. This summer was a different story. It was about a week before her next dose of Frontline Plus, we were on the floor with our children and my little girl says, "Mom! A little bug!" I looked and it was jumping everywhere. I was like wait, hold the phone! Is that a flea!?! In my house?! Shadow isn't due for her meds yet... I was confused. Why on God's green earth would my dog have a flea on her if she is religiously on her meds?! So I checked her, she was covered in fleas! What does that mean? We have an infestation!!! How could we get an infestation if she is treated?

So we applied her next dose a week early thinking we could get this nipped in the bud fast, treated our house and yard. But I noticed something different, she was still covered In Fleas! I haven't seen one dead flea on her at all! I am so upset that this happened. It shouldn't have, she was treated! It's not like we let the infestation start then put it on her, she was already on her meds for a year when this happened. We spent a lot of money on this stuff. Now we have to spend money we don't have and use harmful chemicals around my little babies because of this!

I will never recommend this brand to anyone again, honestly I will tell everyone I know how terrible it is and how it doesn't work at all! Talked to my vet and she said she has noticed that fleas and ticks have built up a resistance to Frontline products and she recommended another trusted flea medicine. I really hope you get discontinued, you shouldn't put claims on things that aren't true. Stop lying to people and charging them for a product that doesn't work!

She also recommended that I discontinue use of the Frontline product and contact Frontline about their satisfaction guarantee.

The guarantee is worthless. They offered to send more Frontline Gold at no cost (the product doesn't work -- why do I want more?) or provide the services of Terminix. Bought Frontline from Pets at Home for my cat and dog. Within hours after treatment our healthy cat was vomiting. 2 weeks after the first treatment our healthy cat started to become lethargic and wouldn't eat much, even her favourite treats didn't perk her up. As we were going to bed our cat was at the top of the stairs convulsion. Within minutes she was dead. We gave our healthy strong Newfoundland the same treatment at the same time and she became very lethargic, no spring in her step, marked reducement in her appetite within a day. We never thought anything of it as thought that she might have just picked up a bug.

She started to pick up after 3 weeks and started eat and find her spark again. Then we gave her the second dose a month after the first and the cycle began again. Once again, within 24 hrs no eating, lethargic, no barking at people or dogs passing our property, no excitement when we would return home. We put 2 and 2 together and could only come up with the conclusion that it was Frontline that caused the death of our healthy cat and the symptoms our beautiful dog has been through. My advice would be to not use this product and speak to your vet beforehand. Wish I had read this before I purchased Frontline as I would have went for an alternative product.

I have been using Frontline for 5 months for my two cats. For the first two months it seemed to work and I could not find any more definite signs of fleas. I interrupted the treatment for only one month and the fleas came back. I restarted it for the next three consecutive months and the flea issue actually progressed instead of diminishing. I got on the phone with Frontline. Because I made all of my purchases at the vet's office, they qualified me for "a customer satisfaction" program. I opted to have an exterminator come to my apartment as the flea situation got out of control (in spite of constant vacuuming and washing sheets and clothes in hot water). Currently, I haven't been able to live inside of my house for a week because the fleas get on me and they bite. I have bathed my cats and I gave them to a friend until my place is taken care of. My feet are covered in bites.

In processing my case, Frontline customer service was terrible. I could tell from the very beginning that I was going to be waiting a long time for my paperwork to be processed if I didn't stay on top of the situation. After 5 phone calls in less than 8 hours, I finally received an answer different than "unfortunately, at this time there is nothing we can do". My paperwork was finalized and sent over to the exterminator company on a Friday. It is now Thursday, therefore a week later, my house is prepped and the exterminator missed their appointment with me. I am waiting for a different technician to make it over to my house.

All in all, save yourselves the time and the money. The product doesn't work, I have read that it has also caused allergic reactions in cats (this did not happen to mine), and Frontline is absolutely terrible at handling the consequences. If you find yourself in a similar situation as mine ask for your money back and do not rely on their horrendous service. Between the time you spend waiting for Frontline and the exterminator company to process your paperwork, you'll have a giant colony of fleas in your home. If you have the money to hire an exterminator yourself, do it, or you'll find yourself in a situation in which you cannot walk into your house without picking fleas off of your legs (that is, if you're fast enough to catch them).

Folks I have read a lot of the reviews on this site about this particular pet treatment for fleas ticks etc. Please understand, my heart breaks for anyone who has had a beloved 4 legged family member that has become sick or has died as a result of this medicine. I wanted to point out a few things since you all seem to say it worked for years but no longer does or seem like it doesn't do anything.

The patent for Frontline's premier medicine expired a few years ago and as a result opened the market to generics and counterfeits. I know some of you have purchased from vets but others from "non veterinarian" sources. There are a lot of fakes out there that look just like the real product so I hope folks are not buying from online "super retailers" (if you know what I mean).

I was considering this product for my indoor cat since recently I pulled ticks off my shirt while watching tv. I recently took over caring for a feral colony due to their previous caretaker leaving this world so I am pretty sure I am picking them up from outside when feeding them or trying to gain their trust to love them up. The first thing I read about his medicine was from a vet online saying that after the patent expired Frontline changed the formula and it had fine print saying it was no longer safe for cats and my vet told me to stay away from the garbage out there as a result of cheap trash available on the market.

I suspect the quality has dropped since it no longer behooves them to make a premium product when generics are less (it's all about the $$ right?). Good luck to all and thanks for the feedback I will not risk my kitties lives for flea meds. I plan to have the yard treated to reduce the fleas and ticks and taking alternate measure for direct treatment. Also noticed many of the reviews in this thread are about "advantage" AKA not the same product so please be sure when you provide feedback you have the "right" product. Some are acting they are going back to advantage but others saying it had detrimental effects.

We must remember that all medicine has side effects and unfortunately is a "numbers game"... Rabies shots cause sarcomas, long acting antibiotics cause sarcomas (aggressive cancer from the vaccines). It is horrible that in this modern age we still have the "corrupt fueled by greed" selling us toxic products vs solutions that work because it might effect their "unit product margins".

Sad to see the direction of greed everywhere has only become exponentially worse. "After all (including the government) fraud in housing was slowed to collapsed the global ecomomy, simply because no one cared to checkout what banks were actually doing, what does corporate America care about our beloved pets" Let us know if anyone finds a health solution. (My vet said stay away from "hearts product" and that "pet armor" or something like that was a possible alternative that he had few side effects with. Good luck!

It was purchased directly through our vet, dosage appropriate for her weight, and applied according to instructions. With the first application, we didn't notice anything significant.

A couple days after the application in May, we began noticing changes including trouble walking on her back legs and a lack of coordination. She later began having seizures. The vet, who we love and trusted, could find no good reason for the symptoms. Last night, after a long seizure, she had to be rushed to the vet, where she eventually passed away from what the vet called a "neurological event", and an acknowledgment that it "could" have been related to the Frontline. I never knew this was a possibility with this treatment and be well assured that it will never be used in our house again!

Now these idiots have something called Frontline spray. When I had my kittens neutered, this stupid place put this nasty awful stuff Frontline spray on my cat. First off, it got all over my clothes, car, etc... it was terrible. Worse, my cat has not been happy and has been more aggressive. I was really upset. I should have had him taken to get a bath but didn't do that. This stuff stays on for one month - so you dowse an animal in this toxin and it stays on their body and skin. That is such a terrible thing to do to an animal. Do NOT use these products. They are not safe for your pets... Don't be one of the mindless idiots out there who does this.

I was deciding what product to use at the store, and after reading reviews on both (that Frontline is supposed to protect from fleas and ticks) I decided on Frontline. I wish I would have read this first, as I just applied a second round of Frontline... thinking I may have not applied it correctly the first time. It did absolutely nothing to kill the fleas, and now I'll have to wait to reapply another product. I used a different product on the dog, since I had already had it on hand, and the fleas were literally falling off in a matter of hours.

I hate using any of these products, but the last time I think I used Advantage for the cat and had no problems. I am usually all natural, but I hate to see my pets scratching themselves to death, and my cat and dog both have very thick fur making it nearly impossible to get the fleas with a comb. Usually it is a one-time "pesticide" application, and along with vacuuming and constantly washing everything for several weeks, the fleas are gone... so I guess I can handle that. Now I have to give the cat a third treatment (with a different product of course) and hope it works... because Frontline is a waste of time and money, along with putting harmful chemical on my pet for no reason.

I bought Frontline Plus at my local Tractor Supply store because I get a discount as my son works there. I purchased the three-month treatment of three applications for both my dogs, a full grown Golden Retriever and puppy brother. I gave them both flea baths to start and treated them after for the third time 2 weeks ago. They kept scratching but I thought it was just dry skin. When I would bathe them, I didn't notice fleas and that's why I thought their skin was just dry. In northeast Ohio it's cold and it dries out your skin.

I was just on playing with my pup and I picked a flea off him. I treated my dogs before I moved in to my new house and it's too cold. We've had an inch of snowfall recently, so fleas aren't active outside and they didn't bring them with them. My question is... If they have been treated, moved to a new place, it's too cold out for fleas, where the hell are the fleas coming from and what has this treatment done but waste my money? I can't get a refund because I didn't buy it from a vet and I don't have the three-month-old receipt. FRONTLINE PLUS DOESN'T WORK!!!

I have a German Shepherd and live with a family who have 2 med dogs of their own. A year ago when I saw no sign of fleas I decided that it wasn't flea and tick season and decided not to apply Frontline to my dog. It was a big mistake. The next month we had fleas everywhere. We spent the next month bombing, spraying, washing bedding, and bathing regularly to rid the infestation. We succeeded.

This past month we forgot to put Frontline on a different dog (missed about 2 months) and the fleas came back. My frustration got the better of me. The fleas on my dog seemed too pleased to be there and Frontline appeared to be not working. The statement: "Any fleas that jump on to your treated pet will die within 12 to 24 hours." seemed flaky so I decided to test it. My dog was on the tail end of the month's application, so the medicine should be at its weakest. I combed my dog, quickly found a couple fleas and put them in a jar. I set it there for the night and in the morning found that the fleas were either dead or twitching. According to Frontline: "But adult fleas on your pet are only 5% of the total flea problem. The other 95% are the eggs, larvae and pupae in the environment waiting to hatch and jump on to your pets." So I just needed to wait it out.

I can't speak for those who say they've been using it for years and it doesn't work. Try using the test I used to verify that the fleas are living longer than the product indicates they should. If they are dying then the fleas are coming from another source of food for them. Neighbors pets might be a factor. Wild animals can also be a source of fleas. Rodents can carry fleas and can deposit flea eggs wherever they go. In all though, do your homework and find out more beyond the punchlines that are listed on the commercials.

I have always used Frontline Plus with no problems whatsoever, but this year it has not worked at all. I have treated my dogs with 3 treatments each of Frontline Plus in just over a month's time and they still both have fleas so bad that they have no hair on half their body, and have nothing but red skin filled with bites and sores, and the fleas just keep getting worse. My dogs are house dogs and every year I treat them in September for a few months until we get a good hard frost, and I have never had any problems with fleas. Now, both dogs have flea-related tapeworms that I also have to treat because the Frontline Plus has not worked.

My entire home is infested with fleas now. I have already bombed it twice and I am going to have to do it a 3rd time because the dogs still have fleas. Not only did I spend almost $70 for the Frontline Plus, but I have had to spend close to $150 on worm medicine, topical flea sprays, house foggers, Benadryl, itch cream, and my dogs still have fleas. Now, I am probably going to have to take them both to the vet to be treated because it is so bad for yet another added expense all because the Frontline Plus didn't work at all to prevent the fleas. This has now compounded into a huge problem for me and my dogs both physically and financially.

I don't know if the Frontline Plus formula was changed or if it just isn't the right formula for the fleas this year, but it doesn't work. In my opinion, if you are going to sell a product and make the claims that the product will kill fleas and flea eggs, you ought to test it and make sure that it does do what you say. I relied on the product to work as it has done in the past, but it didn't and now both of my dogs and I are all suffering with having to deal with a huge flea infestation that is now affecting my dogs' health.

I spent about $35 on the so-called generic, Walmart brand of Frontline Plus (exact same ingredients). Well, boy I disappointed. Stupidly, I went back to the Kroger Pharmacy and spent $59(!!) on the actual Frontline Plus. It claims my pets would be flea-free in about 4 hours. WHAT A RIP. Not only did it have absolutely NO effect on the dogs, they have POOF anywhere from 1 to 50 fleas on them out of the blue! Although I have (literally) gone (still do) go over my two dogs every 1/2 hour to 2 hours to make sure they have no fleas on them, I always find one to 15-20 EVERY SINGLE TIME. I am not sure what I got for my $50+, but the fleas seem to LOVE them even more. I found that the fleas are a result of my daughter having a cat at my house (upstairs, carpeted area) over the summer when she was home from school. I have bombed, sprayed, powdered (everywhere!), and put the FP on both.

To be fair, the FP is NOT the only thing that hasn't worked! Everything I used is supposed to kill, keep from multiplying, blah, blah, blah - someone PLEASE TELL ME what is the FP supposed to do? Are fleas not supposed to like them? Should they fall dead when they get on my pet? WHAT?? Now, I read that because I bought it from the Kroger Pharmacy, the big "Money Back Guarantee" is worthless? I am going to go over this box to see if that information was available before or after you opened the box. I also only hope that everybody sees this and put their sorry butts out of business. If it works on some (I doubt it), that's great. But do not put some phony guarantee on the package to rip the rest of us off. If it's only guaranteed from the vet - why the hell does Walmart, et al., carry it? It says to keep it from being counterfeit or something like that? So are they claiming that Walmart is peddling counterfeit product? So, is Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, Target, etc.?

Where the hell are these otherwise reputable retailers getting all this counterfeit product? They know damn well that this is a way to rip off the public and not have to return any money for their useless crap. They know most people buy it at places like this out of convenience, price, etc. I mean it - IF they refuse to guarantee a product sold by a retailer that they shipped to, they need to be called on the carpet LEGALLY. Why is the vet so upstanding as opposed to these huge stores that have to follow shipping laws? This is ridiculous and they should have to honor their word. EVERYONE should write, email, call - until they are blue in the face. If you want a vet? Call me! I'll say "I'm your damn Vet!" Crazy idiots. We should fight back. Buying their product and trusting them has cost me $400 SO FAR, all the while thinking it would just be any minute before it worked.

Well it seems wrong that I'm to eat the loss of my money, and exchange it for a stranger to come pour chemicals in my house... only to get fleas again, before the time that I paid to be flea-free even ends.

The best part is - they told me they needed to call my veterinarian to get an invoice from them, & that they'd call me back to set up an appointment... but never did. We have homes in Texas and New Mexico, where there are plenty of fleas, but we have not had problems with fleas (we use Trifexis) until I ran out of my supply recently while in New Mexico. Since I did not have Trifexis and our vet was in another state, I picked up Frontline at a local PetSmart. After I applied Frontline, Cosmo's flea problem persisted. At first I attributed the problem to a bad, or expired, batch of Frontline. I waited two weeks and, since Frontline seemed ineffective, gave Cosmo a tablet of Trifexis, which we had finally picked up in Texas. The flea problem stopped.

Coincidentally, a week or so ago, Cosmo ruptured his ACL while running down a hill and will need surgery (we do not know the cause). Now, while we are waiting for the surgery and cannot give Cosmo a flea bath, the fleas are back (I saw one on my arm after feeling many bites). A month has passed since I gave him Trifexis and It is time to treat him for fleas again, but we are out of Trifexis. I was about to re-try Frontline but fortunately decided to check the Internet before doing so. Thank you, everyone, for your posts! Based on everything you have reported and what Poor Cosmo experienced, something is definitely amiss with Frontline, and I will not be using the product again. I only hope that Cosmo's ACL problem, which is unusual for a dog in good health, is not related to Frontline. We cleaned our carpets, vacuumed frequently, sprayed our carpets with flea killer, combed max twice daily with a flea comb to no avail.

The fleas continued to get worse. Max was miserable. He was continually scratching, biting and licking himself. His skin looked terrible. He was losing hair and was developing sores from all the scratching. We used Frontline for 3 months and had had enough. We bought Advantage from a pet store. The first day we applied it within hours, the dead fleas were falling off of him. That night, he slept through the night for the first time in weeks. I had used and trusted Frontline for over 12 plus years on both my cats and dogs. In 2015 I moved to a new home along with my five dogs. In the spring of 2015 I noticed that they were chewing and scratching going crazy. I immediately went to my vet and bought Frontline applied to all five, all to no avail. What should have taken care of fleas immediately began a year long nightmare. I couldn't understand WHY we were still dealing with fleas. Not only were my dogs infested, but now my home was too. So I went on the war path spraying the yard every 5-6 weeks, vacuuming the carpet and furniture every other day, washing dog bedding every week, bathing each dog every 6 days spending hours washing and pulling fleas off of them. I bought and bombed the house several times all to no avail.

I spent hundreds of dollars and countless hours trying to give my poor babies some relief from the chewing and scratching something I should have never had to do if Frontline had worked as they claim it does. After a long hard battle I had to call an exterminator more $$ spent and changed flea meds. I have noticed that indeed Frontline has changed, use to when I treated my pets you couldn't touch them where I had treated them because you could see the oily greasy spot where I had applied Frontline. Now when you apply Frontline you cannot even see where you applied it, you could look at the vials and see liquid in them. Now you can barely see any fluid, it has definitely changed. I totally agree that Frontline has been watered down.

I'm so glad that I happened upon this site because now I have confirmation that Frontline is trash!! One theme I have seen throughout all these reviewed is that ALL the pets treated became infested worse than they were before. Pixi was fit as a fiddle and very playful and energetic when we applied the dose. We live in Houston, Texas where fleas hold conventions. We had used other brands of the on-spot medicines before, with some side effects noted, such as lethargy, diarrhea, and vomiting and did not like the idea of taking a chance with this medicine again, but the fleas declared war and we had to do battle.

Less than 24 hours after the application of the oily stuff, we made a 2 hour side trip to take care of a few errands. When we returned to the home, Pixi was laying in the corner of the kitchen, eyes glazed, no movement. After a closer look, it became clear she had passed on. We were devastated. She was loved by everyone, even though she possessed the most annoying shrill bark one can imagine. She had a rare charm and a warm heart. Seven years is far too soon for a wonderful dog like Pixi. I can't say absolutely that Frontline is to blame here, but they are currently the only 'Person of interest.'

There is much evidence out there to make us suspicious. Do the research. Class action lawsuits have been filed against this medicine. Many other horror stories like ours are documented. If the death rate from human medicines was anywhere near the numbers this medicine exhibits, the medicine would quickly disappear. HOPEFULLY, THIS REVIEW WILL SERVE AS A STRONG WARNING TO THOSE INTENDING ON USING THIS MEDICINE.

April 4, 2016. My cat had his annual check up. I purchased the Frontline (FL) (as usual). We use it for the spring/summer months (Spokane, WA). Vet said to wait 2 days before applying due to other vaccines at appointment. Applied 4/6/16. Within a week my two small children were covered in flea bites and there were jumping bugs everywhere! Did ENORMOUS amounts of laundry - curtains, area rugs, clothes, bedding, linens, etc. Vacuum 1-2x day. Called vet, said it should start working soon. Told neighbors to exam their animals just in case. One neighbor said FL was not effective anymore per her vet. Read the reviews on this site to confirm. Call FL directly: told me they wouldn't refund my money unless I had used a 3 month cycle. I do not consider 3 months 'fast acting.' On box it says: "Kills fleas, flea eggs & larvae, ticks, and chewing lice. Fast Acting, Long Lasting, Waterproof."

IF after 3 months, still a problem, at FL discretion, they might pay for an exterminator. It has been 3 weeks STILL having fleas everywhere. (i.e. Not FAST ACTING) I filed a case #. Customer Service gal was totally on the defensive. Today (4/23/16), I was in the garden & had my baby on a blanket. Cat sat down next to us. Within SECONDS the blanket was COVERED in LIVE baby fleas. I even saw them JUMPING off my cat! NASTY! Back to the laundry room! My poor cat and children! My daughter is also covered in flea bites. And I put on FRESH sheets every other day! I even wash her pillow. CAT stays outside :( We miss cuddle time with him. NO I do not recommend this product anymore. BOO product. BOO customer service. BOO policy.

Within moments of applying both dogs eyes rolled back in their head and they collapsed to the floor unable to stand on their legs. The vet was called and we were told to use Dawn Dish soap and water in the shower to get it off because it cuts through the oil product. Both dogs had neurological damage. No prior bath or immediate bath after applying. Within a week they were infested! Used a nit comb and couldn't believe the amount of live fleas and flea poop in their fur. Took all 3 to the vet and was given oral medication. The cats vomited the medication so had to apply Frontline Plus again for second month. A week later the fleas are still on the cats as if nothing was applied and you can still see the area between their shoulder blade where it was given appropriately.

We've been vacuuming and washing bedding the whole time. Also applied powder and spray to all carpets, mattresses and furniture. This is ridiculous. I've always grew up with animals in our family and never has it been so difficult to treat. We didn't use to have a problem with Frontline Plus. Now it's useless! Took him to get groomed today, and the vet called to say he has one of the worst flea infestations she has seen. Huh???? But I am using Frontline. Silence from the vet, then she said, "Frontline is the problem." What?? Apparently, Frontline can become ineffective? How can this be? My vet has quit selling it at their office because of the issues they have seen. I just wish I had known about this sooner.

Now I have to strip my house clean for probably the next 3 weeks according to the vet. Daily vacuuming of all surfaces, crevices, etc. since you can kill the fleas, but not the eggs. On top of this is the money I have spent, on something that doesn't work. Plus, I have to pay for an unscheduled vet visit, and pay for the shot of whatever they are giving him to help with the fleas. I'm beyond ticked off. The makers of Frontline should be ashamed. My dog is two years old never had a flea in his life and 24 hrs after use, broke out in hot spots and the medicine apparently seems to have drawn fleas to him! Mind you he has never had a flea bite or flea in his life! We travel a lot to parks and fields, my kids are active athletes. Anywho, I switched to Frontline. So far it's only been two hours but no hot spot or weird behavior as of yet!

I will say that I have been drenching my dog for two weeks in raw Coconut Oil, head to toe and not only is it effective in killing fleas on contact, it also repels insects as well! Including ticks. If your pets are suffering hot spots please use Coconut Oil as it is not harmful if ingested and it heals!

I will write a review once the treatment is given time to work. If your dog suffers side effects, I suggest bathing with Dawn dish soap, giving a Benadryl tablet, my guy takes one 25 mg tablet for itching and break outs from allergy to medicine, and apply Coconut Oil raw to their wounds. Also, keep in mind, you have to treat your pet first, then home and yard! Otherwise, you will see fleas after application use, fleas life cycle is long and you have to be thorough. It's counter productive to JUST treat your pet. You have to treat everything in order to see result!

Early in the morning on July 13, 2013, after having given Rudy Frontline Plus the night before, he had a grand mal seizure. I was so scared and upset. I thought I was going to lose him then and there. After about 5 minutes, it seemed like an hour, he got up rather dazed and then seemed fine. I called the vet right away and got an appointment. Having some time, I went on the internet to research and found many articles on the side effects of Frontline Plus and many of the people reporting their pets had seizures. After many tests were done at the vets, all the results came back negative. I asked him if it could have been Frontline Plus that caused it. He said no as Frontline was a safe drug. He has since changed his mind. Well that day was just the start of the seizures.

One day in September on a Sunday, Rudy had 5 seizures in 3 hours. We took him to the Emergency Vet Hospital where they kept him overnight. The emergency vet called the next day and said Rudy was looking for us. Well we got him in the car and all he did was howl all the way home. Supposedly they gave him an overdose of the drug to control the seizures. So now we took him to our regular vet who also kept him overnight. He did have more seizures and the doctor put Rudy on Phenobarbital. He still had a few more seizures after that but they didn't appear to be as bad as the first one. His last seizure was on November 27, 2013. There were several episodes after that, where Rudy would have anxiety attacks. He would jump up, jump down, go in his kennel, come back out etc. The last one he had was on March 5, 2015. He is still on Phenobarbital twice each day but is much better than that terrifying day in July of 2013.

Then our second younger pup started not acting himself, staring off into space, then passed out, falling asleep, only to wake up the next day in the same amount of infestation. PETS are still infested and it says to only apply such product once every 30 days. WHY??? I am really concerned causing me distress if reapplication of an alternative product is going to hurt my dogs.

Always used Frontline as recommended by my vet but this year it did not work. Went to Pets At Home and asked the vet. There she told me that the fleas have became immune to the product and recommend Advantage which worked immediately. Why are they still allowed to sell Frontline? It's fraud.

I have had my cat for 10 years, he is an indoor cat. Last summer I used Frontline on my baby. A month later he began scratching and biting his hair out in big patches. He got better a few months later and I thought it was just where he had made his way outside and got fleas. And now this year when I treated him once again with Frontline here he is again, bald and scabby all over. I just cry and cry every time I look at him. He is a big part of our family and this is so heartbreaking. I see many others have had the same problem once I got online researching it. Can we not start a class action LAWSUIT against Frontline? I'm sorry but he is like a child to us and it hurts me so to see him suffer like this over a medication that is suppose to protect Him, not HARM him!!! I am attaching a photo of him before Frontline and one after... Now you tell me how cruel this medication is to our fur babies...

We went on vacation for 10 days and my mom bought Frontline from Costco - a pack of 6 for $60, a great price! She applied it to our kitty the first day we were gone (and she's very adept at it, having had dozens of dogs and cats over and the years) which was July 27th. At this point, Scratchy didn't have any fleas (that we knew of) as she's an indoor cat. We bought Frontline to protect her from potentially getting fleas from my mom's dog Bubbles, who is basically an indoor dog, but goes outside for walks. Bubbles had a few fleas, but apparently it was under control. She gets groomed and also my mom purchased Advantage at a local feed store where they sell other pet items. WELL... those fleas jumped onto poor Scratchy and despite the application of Frontline, we've been combing approximately 100+ fleas off of her DAILY. Sometimes more hatch in the afternoons and she's got another 25 or so after a FULL combing!

The eggs come off into the little container I place the fleas into, which has a mixture of water, ammonia and a little soap. The fleas die immediately and there is flea dirt and blood... it's disgusting! We have a fairly small apartment so we've vacuumed but now it's time to bomb the house, something I wanted to avoid. I'm VERY disappointed that a major company would trick consumers into buying a well known brand name like this just because of its name. Did they think no one would notice? Do they not care about all the poor cats and dogs who are suffering because of their greediness or their mistake? Either way, they should cop to it and do a MAJOR RECALL of the most recent products. Otherwise, no one will buy from them again. I know I won't, and I'll tell everyone I know. Please do not buy Advantage not only this year, but any year because you never know what you're going to get!
