This company was suggested to us by shelter. They waste lots of time on the phone and submitting claims. I was told by representatives that part of the invoice will be reimbursed, which is 372$ out of 1000$ that we paid out of credit card. And by the end of a long road that we passed with this claim, it came that we get 0$ back. Waste of MONEY and TIME. Greedy companies politics will lose clients. And WHY shelters are offering bad companies tricky services to people that want to adopt an animal.

I adopted a kitten from the SPCA in Montreal who was chipped by 24PetWatch. When I got a second rescue kitten from another organization, I had her chipped as well but when I registered her, I was sent an ACTION REQUIRED email saying I had to "give consent" or they would "not be able to call me if my pet was found. I went online to "give consent" and learned this also means consenting to promotional emails and robocalls. Can't have one without the other. I regret that the microchips are linked to this company but at least if they are lost and found again, the local police will be able to locate me.

I was over billed $124.00 that I have since paid just so I don’t have to deal with these people. I was put through about six people and no one could see the charges. They could only see the insurance charge that I have since canceled. No one there could comprehend that my email bill confirmation total and what my actual card was charged were different. I was billed double for the pet collar and the lifetime. After arguing with one man who said he’d cancel everything and then calling back to talk to someone more humane, those charges still remained and I received two pet collars. They don’t know what they’re doing and just don’t give a damn. I hope they treat animals better than they do people because their customer care skills are severely lacking. Stay away if you can. I will update this review if my dog goes missing and they suck there too.

I adopted 2 puppies from a local shelter which provided information on 24 hour pet watch. I sent the vet statement after obtaining this insurance and even though both pups had exactly the same vaccinations, wellness exams and paperwork, I was reimbursed different amounts as I was told by representative two different adjusters processed my claims. The reimbursement is dismally low. I feel sorry for the people handling the phone calls. I found them sweet and helpful but they have no authority to do the right thing. The company however leaves me with the feeling of being duped. Fool me once, shame on you, there won’t be another opportunity. I wish I would have read the reviews before signing up. Next steps include cancelling my policies and contacting BBB.

My Pug has been insured for 13 years; since she was a puppy. No claims in the beginning, but as she aged she developed skin allergies and is prone to bladder and ear infections. 24Pet has always paid my claims as explained in policy. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about 24PetWatch, other than I wish pet insurance was less expensive. They have actually helped me out quite a bit since my dog is so high maintenance.

We had to leave our cat 13,000 miles behind in southern California as she went missing on 02/25/15. Before we left our vacation spot we left contact information with neighbors that will be there longer. When we got home we also called 24PetWatch with the chip number from records we had at home. We were ask to pay $21.95 with the assurance that we would be contacted if our cat chip is ever scanned. Our missing cat info was put online on their website with our contact info.
In a couple of weeks our cat started visiting the RV site we were staying and we were contacted by neighbors. The neighbors contacted a animal shelter at our request to pick her up and have her return to us. About March 10th when our cat was being picked up our contact information was giving to and we talked to the lady on the phone. She went through the process too so our cat can be fly home on a plane. We got her three days later on March 14.
I went online on March 15 to report that our cat was recovered. We were surprised to find out that our found cat wasn't in our list of pets. We called their 24 phone number and was told that they transfer ownership to the shelter worker and she was no longer our cat. We were told that in order to transfer ownership back to us we would have to download a transfer form and pay another $21.95. Then we would have to visit a vet to prove we have her and have the shelter worker sign off on it.
We were totally shocked and couldn't even sleep last night knowing that our pet could of been giving away without our knowledge. When they transfer ownership of our cat no one from 24PetWatch called us or email us to sign off the transfer as we wouldn't of as that cat is part of our family. The way 24PetWatch protected our pet is anyone can snatch our pet from our yard and gain owner ownership by filling out a downloadable form and paying $21.95. That makes their microchip program worthless.

I wish I would have read reviews before signing up with them. Worst experience I ever had with Insurance company. I paid higher monthly payments to have higher insurance coverage. My puppy had accident where she slipped and hit her leg, she could not walk and was crying so thought she has broken her leg. Took her to Emergency Hospital since that was late Sunday night. Had to pay $290 for visit and given medications and pain killers. Tried to submit claim on 24PetWatch Pet Insurance website and system would not work, unable to add any attachments. Emailed support, nobody responded to my first emails, had to email multiple times, finally somebody responded to me and said "please submit claim online by attaching documents"!
Had to email several times again and asked them at least read the actual message. They did help and placed claim from their end. 2 weeks later received a decision, claim denied as Emergency hospital would not verify my claim!!! When I called Emergency Hospital they advised me nobody reached out to them regards my puppy's injury. Contacted 24PetWatch Insurance again, they gave me reassessment form to complete. It has been 2 weeks, had to call them again and was told it takes 22 business days for reassessment to be reviewed! I am out, cancelled insurance and going to a different company. Very disrespectful and don't care about people at all. Don't waste your time on this. I only claiming $300, what would happen if that would be several thousand $$ claim?? Absolutely shocking. Also will submit official complaint to BBB and NAIC, sounds very much like a scam to me. Denying claims based on a thin air.
We are sorry to hear of your frustration in having your claim processed. In order for us to process claims, we require complete medical history for your pet. If your history has been provided along with your reassessment, we will be able to process and provide you with a claim outcome. We hope Ivy is doing well.

A small dog followed me home. I called this company's number which was a tag on her collar and after being put on hold for 10 minutes, spoke to a representative of this company. They assured me they would contact the owner. After an hour I called our local police dept who initiated a pick up by the owner within minutes. The pet owner said he had never received a called from this company. I told him they were useless and thank goodness he called the police dept instead of relying on this stupid PetWatch company. In my opinion, this company is nothing more than a scam to obtain information from people, for some, obvious monetary gain.

I had my cat microchipped at a shelter. The shelter misspelled my name when they registered the microchip for me. I cannot change my name through 24PetWatch's website. I emailed them THREE TIMES with ZERO response. I can't make phone calls during their business hours due to my work and class schedules, and time zone differences. I had to register the microchip with another, totally free, totally transparent service. I should not have to do this. Having the microchip registered with more than one service with different information can cause major issues when a lost pet is found if the finder is not careful to determine which information is the most up to date.

They hard sell you into a trial policy (high end) with no follow up. They claimed they sent a copy of policy I never received. They make the claims process almost impossible. If you call them, they will simply repeat and repeat that everything was disclosed during the call. They are right - you are wrong period. Don’t under any circumstances sign up for insurance with this company.

DO NOT USE THEM!!! They keep hiding behind rules and policies that they make up after the fact. They are way far behind in the ease of posting claims to their websites unlike other insurance companies. Also the microchip that’s in your dog or cat from them is crap. They want you to have insurance from them to change the info. It sounds like a bait and switch to me. NONE of my animals other than my other dog that has this microchip has a cost to change info. Like other people said use a different site to add them to your profile. Also when they talk on the phone its sounds like a scam. Also they aren't BBB accredited!

RE-REGISTER YOUR PETS WITH ** (or both). You can enter your animal's chip information and freely update the information (such as new address) without paying for it. Those two services are what microchipping is all about - making sure pets make it back home if they are lost. DO NOT USE 24PETWATCH. I have 3 dogs - 2 microchipped with 24PetWatch. I live in a rental house and have moved a few times since adopting my dogs. I was quite angry to discover that the only way I can change/update the address on my dogs' chips is to pay their absurd fee for a lifetime membership.
I understand completely that companies need to make money, but that is what their insurance side is for, not their basic pet microchipping. The real kicker here is that I was considering getting pet insurance for all 3 of my dogs through them, but have changed my mind now that I know that I cannot even updated my address without giving them a huge chunk of money. SHAME ON YOU, 24PetWatch. You are not protecting and saving animals, you are taking advantage of pet owners. I am sincerely disappointed, and frankly disgusted.
Hi Vanessa, Any microchip registered with 24PetWatch comes with our basic service, which uses only your email & phone # to facilitate lost pet recovery, never your physical address. It includes unlimited free access to change these two pieces of contact info at any time. We do not use your address for lost pet efforts and are never needed to reunite you with your pet. A customer may elect to purchase a membership (as lows as $21.95) which does then give you access to add/change additional info.

I actually quite like them. When I first started with them, they would send back the claim money before my credit card bill came in. Now it takes much longer. They were quite good to me back when I had a dog with CHF. He maxed out the Cardiovascular coverage and when another procedure had to be done in his abdomen, caused by the CHF, they switched it over to the GI coverage for me. I really appreciated that. The only thing I’m not too happy with is the monthly payment goes up every year or so, even though I have had very few claims as my dog is healthy.
Thanks for the feedback and kind words, Carol!

We adopted a puppy from a shelter. They proceeded a code for a 30 day free trial of pet insurance from this company. I registered and have the receipt showing $0.00 Charged however they DID in fact charge my card the full monthly amount. The charge is still "pending" so I cannot dispute it through my bank yet. I am calling on no day to cancel the policy due to this unethical practice as well as due to these other reviews I just read. My bank offers discounted pet insurance through a more reputable and better rated company at the same cost, we will go with that. Can't wait to see how horrible the cancellation process is going to be. Don't waste your time or money on the NOT FREE free trial.

We adopted two kittens and received a 30 day free trial for both kittens. When I called to set the insurance up, they said they wouldn't charge my card until the 30 day free trial was up. I confirmed with the lady twice that she wouldn't charge my card until November 19, 2018. Then, a few days later I notice that around $280 was charged on my credit card. I called 24PetWatch and the person I spoke advised that this was a human error and that he would call me back in 3-5 days to ensure I received a refund. I never received a response so I emailed them to cancel.
The email said I would receive a response within 48 hours. Again, no response. So I called last Friday and the person I spoke to said that the payment was not an error, that's how annual pay works. Then she asked if I wanted to go on monthly pay. I told her just to cancel both policies. She confirmed that the cancellations were processed and I would receive a refund within 7 days. It has been 7 days and nothing. If you adopt a pet and they offer you a free trial through 24PetWatch, don't bother! I am in insurance and this is not how customer service works. When someone says a refund should be sent to you within a certain amount of time or they will contact you within a certain number of days, they should.

Upon looking at my account the next day, I notice that they put a hold on my account for more than authorized. I called and canceled the policy. The lady said I would be refunded my money. I never received the refund. The next month came around, they charged my account again making my account negative. I called and was told I would be refunded the money plus service fee and also be refunded for the other month. I was only refunded for the new charge minus the service fee. I am planning to call the rescue and advise them to use a new company for microchips.

When I adopted a puppy several friends recommended getting pet insurance for the first year of her life. I read reviews for several companies and spoke on the phone with a couple about different coverage options and decided to go with 24PetWatch. Here is where they went wrong: Submitting claims is not as easy as I would like and they weren't able to set up access for my vet so the vet clinic could submit claims for me like human health insurance. Many other pet insurance companies make this easy. I was unable to deposit their checks using my mobile banking app for some reason. I had just moved to Maine from Wyoming where the bank I use does not exist so mobile deposit was my only option. I spoke to 24PetWatch on the phone and they set up direct deposit for me and reissued the payment that I couldn't mobile deposit. However, months later, after submitting several other claims, I still hadn't seen a single deposit from 24PetWatch.
Over the course of the past few months I spoke with several representatives who said they would reissue the 4 payments I was waiting on, but still nothing. I have now had this policy for almost a year and have spent almost $500 on the premiums but haven't seen a single dime back. Today I canceled my policy and supposedly the agent reissued the checks, my 3rd try to get paid, and for some reason they couldn't manage to get the direct deposit to work so I will have to mail the checks back to Wyoming to get them deposited in my account. The 24PetWatch agents were always very friendly and polite but I am appalled and really upset and do not recommend this insurance company.

I had a very good experience so far with 24PetWatch (was SPCA insurance in Ontario, Canada)... very grateful for their coverage as I had to cover nearly 16,000$ for eye surgeries just after my pup turned 1 year old... they covered to the limit as written in the policy without any issue and in a timely manner. I have been treated well with each and every claim submission and this has been an unexpectedly bad year medically for my pups... I am so pleasantly surprised by the support that I have received during this tough time and I highly recommend them.

We found a dog and got it scanned. The 800-number was called. They wouldn't tell us where the owners were so that the dog could be delivered. We cannot just keep the dog because we have no room (and this was explained to them). The young person at the call center hung up when a supervisor was asked for. Based on the insurance reviews, I wouldn't be surprised if the "protection services" were a scam, too! The dog is cute, friendly, small, and middle-aged. We don't want to have to dump it at a shelter, but we already have dogs of our own and cannot add more.

We adopted a puppy from a shelter. The adoption came with 30 days of pet insurance provided free of charge. We registered online for our pet insurance and the company claims they have no record of it. I spoke with multiple people who said they would get it fixed for me. They then said that a manager needed to give me a call right back. The manager failed to ever call me and nothing has been fixed. This should not be this difficult to receive the services that were supposed to be included as part of my adoption fee.

I enrolled in the free trial plus an additional wellness plan coverage for my newly rescued dog. 24PetWatch is refusing to reimburse me for my dog's wellness exam items, Lyme vaccine and her skin condition treatments. Apparently while trying to enroll me, representative explained skin conditions were one of 12 immediately covered conditions while today rep told me it's not dermatitis so it falls into an item that needs a longer waiting period for eligibility. In short, it's not worth your time or money to debate 24PetWatch's deceptive consumer practices and don't count on any assurances given upon making enrollment decisions. I'm lucky I only lost $12.50 as I've cancelled and cut my losses. But everyone please be aware as this company seems to prey upon families who have adopted rescue animals.

I recently adopted 2 cats from a rescue organization in Georgia and the 24 Pet Watch chips are the ones they were microchipped with. I called the company to register my name and information because I was having trouble doing it on the website. The girl informed me that I needed buy a "lifetime" membership at a cost of $84.95 per cat. I went ahead and gave them my CC number which they immediately charged. They promised me several items which they promptly e-mailed to me. However, when I attempted to use one of the coupons they sent me, the store told me that it was a "third party coupon" and they don't accept those.
I called them back and explained this to them and that I would like to get it resolved or be issued a refund. I was told last week that someone would contact me by Friday, 9/28/18. I never heard back from anyone. I called them today demanding a refund -- spoke to a manager -- and was told he would call me back within the hour to let me know what was going on. I submitted every invoice, medical history, and documents that they asked for when submitting a claim. A full MONTH later they send out an automatic email that they are waiting to hear from my Vet office. I check the claim status and it reads "$448.66 submitted amount - $0.00 paid." I call and they said they couldn't get the examination notes from the Vet office. I asked if they just emailed once and tried to call once and then just closed the claim and she said yes. She also said that should be mostly up to ME to provide and get these documents. I told her I submitted everything I've received from the Vet and nowhere did they request I contact the vet to get any more documents. I've never had an insurance company tell me that I need to do literally 100% of the work. Useless company that just wants to take your money. Do NOT recommend.

I called and they said he was registered under a different account and I need to pay them a transfer of ownership fee to have him under my account. They stated that the microchip number associated with my pet was never under my account. That can't be so because like I said previously I've been logging in for years now and updating his profile. I adopted my dog from a Humane Society two years ago. She came with a microchip associated with 24PetWatch so I registered her chip with my information on the (at the time) free to use database. After a year, we moved and I updated our information with no problem. A couple days ago I received an email saying "When you had [dog's name] microchipped, you received free pet protection services from 24PetWatch. But did you know that you can benefit from our premium pet protection services with a Lifetime Protection Membership?" Just a promotional ad, but whatever, it reminded me I needed to update my address since I moved again. So I go to do so and turns out, my account "is currently locked for editing. Please select a membership plan to edit your information"... which is apparently $85.
ALSO I noticed that my information on record had reverted back to the original address I registered with. Thought that was strange, so I decided to test something. I logged out and then used my dogs microchip number to run a "found pet" search. The search was submitted to the company, leaving them responsible to contact me that somebody has found my "lost" dog. I have NOT been contacted (only my address has changed so contacting me should not be an issue).
So apparently 24PetWatch is no longer free like the email says, but literally the most expensive microchip database I have found. So if you're in my boat and have a pet microchipped with 24PetWatch, I would highly suggest registering your info with a different database (or two) so that you don't have to rely on them alone. I would also like to point out that there is no universal microchip database so it wouldn't hurt to register your pets on multiple databases just to be safe anyways.

The shelter that I adopted my kitten from sent this company the wrong email address so I had to call to correct it and get him registered. When I googled the company to get the web address this was the second search result that came up and I got a sinking feeling when I saw the awful reviews and expected difficulty in getting my information corrected. I don't know if I got lucky or they are trying to fix customer service but my experience was positive.
I explained the email situation to the customer rep and she reset my account and took the microchip number and associated it with my account. She asked me if I was interested in their live operator recovery service in the case that my pet is lost (for a fee) or was I comfortable in using the self-service automated system through email. I said I was comfortable with self-service and she asks for authorization to contact in the event that microchip was scanned. She asked me if I was aware of their pet insurance policies and I told her that I was able to get similar coverage through my husband's employer at a discounted rate. She asked that I double check to make sure that the coverage was comparable and if I felt that I could get a better plan through them to feel free to call back for a quote. I had absolutely no hard sell for insurance or to enroll in the monitoring service. My agent was helpful and polite.
Overall it was a positive experience and a relief because I was expecting a hassle based on these reviews. I will admit that I did not sign up for a trial nor have I had to deal with a claim but I felt that the process for the microchip registry was simple and pleasant. Hopefully, others will have an experience more like my own. I gave it a four star rating rather than a five because I only dealt with one aspect of their services. I have no complaints about the service I received.

The customer service rep told me that they broke their company policy when they canceled my membership and I was LUCKY that I even received a partial refund. In disbelief and pure shock I asked, "What do you mean I should be lucky?" I emailed my cancellation on the last day of the month which is when was coverage was good through.
The rep, Faizan, said that I should've canceled a day before the end of the month if I expected a full refund. I tried to explain my previous conversation of when I canceled my membership but the customer service rep continued to talk over me and repeat once again that I was lucky. I asked to speak with a manager and Faizan went on to say he'd have to take my name & number for one to get back to me. The whole experience was a joke! I finally cooled down and did speak with a Supervisor when I called back later that day. Supervisor said that she was willing to refund the balance with the exception of .96 cents. Sounds pretty silly but she was serious that the system only allowed her to refund $2.50 processing fee leaving a balance of .96 cents. Unbelievable. Every time I simply corrected the representative lying to me, explaining that I know they are not my cat's microchip company, the conversation would shift to a dark tone and they would become extremely hostile and rude.
Now pay attention to this before you scammed: The actual company my pet's microchip is from allowed me to update my information for FREE. I have, for a week now, been unable to update his information as the website continues to block me from my account stating I must purchase a Lifetime Membership Plan. I phoned the company and they confirmed my payment and stated it could take 24 hours for my plan to register online and to "log in tomorrow". I've attempted login every day for the last week to find myself still unable to update my pet's information. I called the company again, no answer. I emailed the company, no answer. I asked for a cancellation/refund, no answer. I filed a PayPal dispute. I'll be having my pet microchipped with a different company.

When I called 24PetWatch to register my new kitten I was told that before I could register her I would need to renew my membership for my previous cat who was lost back in June 2017. When I said I was confused about what membership (the previous cat was chipped in 2015) no membership was ever mentioned. He goes, "Oh without that if anything ever happened to her we couldn't help." I said that when I called to report her missing in June nothing about membership was ever said. So if someone had called or contacted them between June 2017 and January 2018 they would not have contacted me because I did not have a membership for her. NO one ever told me anything about a membership or fee. This is very upsetting to now be told that they would have that information but unless I paid membership fees from when it expired to include the current year they were unable to access any information they might have.
So for $87.80, I could possibly find out if anyone had called in. Then if I wanted I to get a membership for my new kitten I had to pay an additional $21.95 but I could get a lifetime membership for both for a grand total of $257.70 (agents quote) I could get $25.00 coupon for Petco. I feel violated they are playing with my emotions saying they might have information about my missing baby but they may not. I have to pay first to find out.

I adopted two sweet cats from a rescue shelter in Colorado named Every Creature Counts (now defunct), they came chipped, and obviously pre-registered since I have received emails from 24PetWatch asking me to "re-register" their chips. Of course, no one tells you this outfit wants to hit you for $85 as a "one-time" fee to even change your phone number, the cat's name, or your contact information. This is a huge scam that preys on people's fear of losing their pets. You believe your pet is registered, and these con artists are really holding the chip number hostage... and until you pay up, you can't even update your damned phone number!

I have a HomeAgain Chip in my dog and that company is WONDERFUL. They also have a membership with a fee but they do not require you to pay it in order to update the information that may result in your pet getting returned to you safe and sound. Instead their membership fee simply allows you to use actual benefits should you chose to want them like email blasts to people in your area if your pet is lost. I will never again allow my pets to be microchip with a 24PetWatch chip and I strongly encourage you to seek out other options like HomeAgain if you want to have your pets truly protected.

She was advised her dog's chip had lapsed and that she would have to pay an annual fee to update and to keep it current. She was told they would not have provided her information if her dog had been lost. We registered the number on a free site and updated the information. This company cares about money, not pets. The dog was adopted from The Pets Alive! shelter in San Antonio, Texas and was required to be chipped by their vet prior to adoption which took place February 2015. I want other customers to know the chip means nothing after one year unless they register the chip number on a free site.

But at least my info was accurate on the chip. Yesterday when she went missing I paid the money because my phone number recently changed. After calling them the first time the office phone said they were closed and to call at normal business hours. Which I thought was ridiculous since they are called 24Petwatch and on their stupid website said they are open 24/7/365. I called again and it kept me on hold for over an hour.
After that I gave up and went to their website and posted her chip number. I received an email saying someone will call me shortly and still almost 24 hours later I haven’t heard a thing from them. Thank god we were able to find her ourselves several hours later. I then tried to call back to let them know that she was safe. I adopted my dog in New York 10 years ago. She came with a microchip that the rescue organization said was registered with 24 Hour Pet Watch. I decided to insure my dog through them for convenience, as she was already chipped with them. I gave them $19.95 a month for 10 years. I used the insurance only twice in the first two years. They recently more than doubled the cost of their coverage ($49.95 per month,) which I found to be financially unfeasible. I discontinued the coverage. Prior to this, I'd moved back to New Orleans. During this past hurricane season, I realized I may not have updated my address for the microchip. I contacted 24 Hour Pet Watch, only to find out that my dog's chip had NEVER been registered, the entire 10 years she had been insured with them.
I was told that I could register the chip for $80 for my dog's lifetime, but I would receive a coupon for $25 off dog food at PetCo. They never offered a discount on the registration, though clearly, they had been lax. You guessed it. I never got the coupon. I've called four times to obtain the coupon, with a promise each time I'd get it in 5-7 days. No results. My take-away is that 24 Hour Pet Watch has NO regard for your pet. Only money. I now have similar coverage (for a good deal less,) with the ASPCA, a trusted, legitimate organization. Do NOT give your money to 24 Hour Pet Watch.

My vet offered microchipping for a one-time, $40, LIFETIME coverage. Interestingly, the one time this sweet dog got lost, the finder did have her scanned for a chip -- the 24PetWatch people would NOT give her the contact information they had on file, because I didn't pay $90 a year!!! Fortunately, we connected through the other microchip... the one I had gotten from my vet for $40 FOR THE LIFE OF THE PET. At the same time, their billing was chaotic resulting in charging me for four months and not informing me they had somehow neglected to bill me!
In regard to the rate increase; while it is upsetting, this company was so non-competitive with regard to price! I was paying so little and getting 80% coverage. They have raised their rates to be competitive which I know because I shopped around - a lot. They cover office visits for illnesses which many companies do not; they are now quite prompt in responding and have a good customer portal. I've never had any claims other than yearly wellness visits, which were covered with my policy. Over the past 7 years, my coverage has increase a small percentage every year, on the order of 2-3%, which I considered the cost of doing business. This year, without any notification, my renewal went up 336%, from $179/year to $602/year. I called the company thinking this charge was in error, but I was told that they have a new underwriter and that all rates went up. They supposedly mailed a letter in April stating this, but I never received it.
This is the fourth or fifth time the company has changed hands since I initially purchased the insurance (it was Purinacare when I bought it initially), but I've never had issues until now. This increase is outrageous, and I am completely dissatisfied with how they treat their customers. In addition to the outrageous cost increase, they also had me on hold for over 30 minutes before I could speak to a person, and it took another 20 minutes before I could convince them to cancel my coverage. I originally purchased the insurance to cover any health care issues for the cat as he aged since it was cheaper to buy it when he was under 2 years rather than wait until he got older, but at this new cost, I can just as easily put the money in a savings account and have more than enough.

I selected the lifetime plan because I didn't want to pay $22.00 a year. I'm now out of $84.95. This money can be much better spent on dog food! Exactly 20 minutes after paying them by credit card I called them via deaf relay & asked to have it removed. The customer service rep was adamant that it cannot be removed (because it says no refunds), so I waited a while and then called again and got the same response, except after 38 minutes on the call, this rep said she would forward this issue to her manager, who is off on weekends and is the only one authorized to remove the pending charge, since during the same relay call with the same CA (Sprint relay operator) - when I first contacted Visa CC, they said the charge was pending and only the merchant can remove it.
In the meantime, Visa said that they added a dispute note to my account but that it can't be disputed until the payment is posted. Without notifying me of any changes in premium AND double charging me without any notice. I called to verify all of this. They tried to tell me it's a new underwriting price change. I told them my new pet insurance buying for a new policy has begun and they can cancel retroactive to this billing. They wouldn't. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews and a low rating on this company, but reading them they were all about pet insurance which I don't have for my cat. He is micro chipped though, and after 5 moves in his short three years, he got out last night and hasn't come home. He's been gone for 26 hours as I write this and I've been freaking out for my little baby. However, I'm super broke and was worried I'd have to renew membership in order for them to help me or for his chip to be activated if someone found him. Anyway, I called tonight, gave them Mini's chip number and explained that I never renewed past the free year from the shelter.
The woman on the phone was very nice and said, "let's update your information to your current address and I'll report Mini as lost and we can talk about renewal once he has been found." That seriously put this broke college student, who just started a job and hasn't received her first paycheck yet and whose student loans aren't coming in until the end of August, in somewhat of a less stressed state of mind.
So, my cat is now listed as missing, no one tried to pressure me into renewal at this point, and she even gave me some tips to help my baby find his way home (I was already doing them because the internet is a wealth of info, but still, it was nice to know that they were helpful with that). I was just very relieved that they updated my information with Mini's accurate name and address and my phone number and email address so that if he is found, they won't try to send him off to the state we previously lived in. Hoping to get my wittle mini home safe and sound soon, thanks to the very helpful woman I called tonight.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I just got off the phone with a "customer service" rep who kept pressuring me not to cancel my policy. He was absolutely relentless and offensive. He had me so angry I ended up cussing at him. He was that bad. Background: Like everyone else who is furious with this company, my premium just jumped over 100%, from 30.02/mo to 66.16/mo. I didn't know this until I saw the charge on my credit card. I found the renewal booklet I'd been sent a couple of months ago, and sure enough it did say there would be an increase. My bad.
BUT -- when I called the company today to look into changing from the highest coverage level ($20,000 which includes wellness and dental) to a lower one, I asked if the conditions my cat is currently being treated for would still be covered. I was told that since I didn't make the change "in the renewal period", her medical conditions would now be considered pre-existing(!!!) Since it would be no different if I got a new policy elsewhere, I figured why stay with this company that was ripping me off? So I said, "I want to cancel the policy, then." Oh my Holy Mother of God, what happened next was unbelievable.
He began a relentless pressure campaign to get me to change my mind, kept harping on how a teeth cleaning alone (which is covered under the policy) makes the premium worth it. I told him my priorities are her hyperthyroidism and her kidney function, which currently entails labs a few times a year, not teeth cleaning. He went on and on, saying everything EXCEPT "Yes, ma'am, I'm sorry to hear you want to cancel; I'll start that process right now for you". I kept repeating that I was not interested in his spiel, that my mind was made up. That he was not honoring that absolutely infuriated me. I ended up calling him an ** -- but trust me I was only speaking the truth.
"I understand you're upset", he said. "Really?" I asked, "Why do you suppose that is?" "Because your premium went up, I understand that." "No, it's because you are not doing what I'm asking. I asked you at least 3 times to cancel the policy. It's my choice and my decision. You do not have the right to keep trying to pressure me, and it's not going to work. Cancel the policy -- now!" "But ma'am --" And on and on and on. I'm telling you, it was unbelievable. Finally he said he was "in the process" of cancelling the policy, but just had one more thing he had to tell me, one more option available to me. I told him I didn't want to hear it, and he insisted that he had to tell me, so that I could "make a decision"!!! By now I'm practically screaming at him. "I've MADE my decision!! It's your job to honor it and not try to sell me any more crap!"
The kicker is when he finally said the policy was cancelled, but that he just HAD to tell me that I'm "making a very ill-informed decision" and implied that I don't know what's best for my cat. If we'd been in the same room I probably would have leapt over the desk and throttled him. At one point I reminded him that the call was being recorded "for quality assurance purposes". I said, "So this is your company's idea of quality customer service? Hounding and pressuring people? Not providing the service that they want and are asking for?"
24PetWatch is a terrible company. STAY CLEAR!! PS -- regarding his telling me that I hadn't requested to change my coverage level "during the renewal period", I didn't even have the presence of mind to tell him that NOWHERE in the policy renewal booklet that they sent me did it explain the reason for the premium increase, nor, and most importantly, did it say that UNLESS YOU CHANGE COVERAGE LEVELS DURING THE RENEWAL PERIOD, any conditions that were previously covered will be considered pre-existing. And that omission can only be purposeful on their part. That's why they are a sleazy organization that cares nothing for the animals they supposedly serve.

When I called, they explained that they now have new underwriters, because their previous rates were "far below market."
Here's the catch... They don't care if you leave them. If you have a lot of claims, your pets are just liabilities to them anyway. And they KNOW you can't go anywhere else if your dog has a pre-existing condition. So you're stuck. Either you stay with them and deal with the ridiculously high rates, or you just don't carry insurance on your dogs, and hope you don't have any major disasters to deal with. I've had the policy since 2009 when it was Purina and it was great. Then it switched hands to 24PetWatch and since then they've become increasingly more difficult to deal with. The last thing that happened was that I just happen to see a $900+ charge on my credit card from them (the years before it was $200/yr, then $360 when they took over), no bill or anything. When I called they just kept telling me that I signed up for them to automatically charge me in 2014 (which I never did) and that they have my permission to charge my card. They just repeated the same thing to me and said there were no supervisors available for me to talk to. They wouldn't refund anything. Needless to say I cancelled my policy. That company is not an honest business.

I have been a member with 24PetWatch for the last 6 years, and suddenly, with no notice, they doubled my pet's premium. I have never had trouble with them before, so was shocked. When I called to inquire, I got a canned response about increasing prices. I've always considered the company to be a good value, so I would understand raising their prices, but doubling with no notice is absolutely ridiculous. Further, when I said I would have to switch policies due to not being able to afford my new one, I was told it was the middle of my policy year, so if I switched now then all previously covered illnesses would be considered pre-existing conditions and not covered. This feels truly unconscionable to me. Buyer beware before you consider purchasing from them - they may double your premiums with no notice.

Pathetically slow on reimbursing claims. We've been waiting close to 8 months to be reimbursed on claims that were submitted. It's been so long that our card on file expired and when they went to reimburse us 2 months ago it would not go through due to an expired card. I've made 3 phone calls over the past 2 months and each time ensured they had the new and correct card on file. They confirm that the correct card is on file and still no reimbursement. We are due over $800.00, which they have confirmed in writing... but have still not reimbursed us.
I've been on hold the last 2 times over 30 minutes waiting on a supervisor. The last time I was told the supervisor would be calling me back, but NEVER received a call. I'm now on hold again for 35 plus minutes and making good use of my time filing this complaint. After having this pet insurance for over 10 years and no claims until this year, they cancelled our policy in Florida, our pet has died and now we are just wanting to get reimbursed for what they have providing in writing that we are due. How hard is this?

My first time ever writing a review about the services of a company. I am doing it as responsibility to save others from this pit trap. I have seen coners and scammers but something on a huge level like this is astonishing. Bought a policy for my dog 3 years ago. In one year the premium rate jumped from $25 to $44.88 without any notification without our consent. When I called to ask they said they mailed the renewal package to us. I tracked the date and details of general post with Canada Post and found out that no post was delivered to us on that day.
This company is feeding on your ignorance and hectic life where you have little time to see what your insurance co. is doing with your bank auto deduct account that you provided them with. I asked to speak to a manager and they made me wait 20 mins on phone and the person who attended failed to explain why my dog's premium increased to double the figure in an year without our knowledge. Save your hard earned money and put it where they will treat you honestly. There are many other reviews with same story as mine and this made me withdraw my policy. I lost all the money in the premiums I paid but I am with a better provider now.

For several years, we had two pet insurance policies with this company. In late 2016, we received written notification that PTZ was switching to a new insurance underwriter and that our policy premiums would rise sharply at their renewal dates in early 2017. Indeed, one policy premium was scheduled to DOUBLE. We called, reduced our policy coverage, and received quotes for the new, cheaper policies. Because one pet's policy was many years old and had been grandfathered in from PurinaCare, this policy was given a new ID number.
The second pet policy kept the same ID number. We understood that our credit card would be billed on the renewal dates in early 2017 for these new, changed policies. So we were shocked when we received a letter in early February of 2017 notifying us that this second policy had not been renewed and was canceled altogether. The reason? They never issued a new policy ID number for it.
We called within days of receiving this cancellation notice. We wanted the policy reinstated because we believed there had been a miscommunication and an error on their part because our intention was to have it renewed and billed to our credit card. They would not hear our explanation and pledged only to have a "supervisor" look into the problem. They told us that someone would called within "1 to 2 business days." Well, no one called. And when we called again, the phone customer service representative said only that she could not help us and that - again - a "supervisor" would have to look into it and that they would call within "1 to 2 business days."
We were loyal customer who paid our policy premiums on time for years and the pet in question didn't even receive any billable care during the lapsed period. But they would not work with us, preferring instead to shove us into a new policy with more exclusions and worse coverage. We will take our business elsewhere and strongly suggest that you do the same.

24PetWatch has drastically declined the passing years. I will attempt to keep it short with the following reasons for support and warning for those seeking services: I have ordered a replacement tag, Nov 2016, have had to call three different times to attempt to follow up and yet to receive my pets ID replacement tag. I have paid for this tag on 2 separate occasions despite being told that there was a lifetime warranty. They lost my order in their system and I do not have the original receipt from 7 years ago. This is fraud since I paid for a service and I am not receiving services paid for. In addition, without the tag a person doesn't know who to call or if she even has a chip. So the pet finding service is also questionable. The local pet shelter that initially used this service has now switched companies as of 2017.
Upon attempting to call and speak to a manager there was not a manager on duty. When call was forwarded to a voicemail there was no voice mail available to leave a message and the call was disconnected. I have no confidence in this company, who cannot simply ship a tag to me, could ever orchestrate the reuniting of a loved pet with its owner. The company has also lost it ties with pet supply company, Pet Tango, that went out of business. This was part of the services that were originally paid for and was not compensated for the loss of services and not even notified until I attempted to place an order. Very poor customer service. The turn around in customer service reps leaves those working under trained and under qualified as reflected in the customer service skills. Many questions that are asked require them to ask another person for answers.

WATCH OUT!! I repeat WATCH out when you sign up for this complete BS. I don't think you should sign up in the first place but this is my experience. I got my puppy and the next 2 days I signed up with 24 hour pet watch for this 30 day trial BS. First of all the customer service rep that set up my account straight up said " go to the vet and submit a claim that you'll get reimbursed. All what was discussed is the set up (name address ETC, said we had 30 days. I do as I was told and submit the claim. 2 Weeks after I call to get an update and the gentleman explains the time it takes for review. I ask what this trial covers exactly because the vet recommended some expensive Shampoo and Conditioner (50 Bucks Each!!) and some vitamins. Well the gentleman explained what it covers and by what he said basically my claim will not be reimbursed.
I asked to speak to a supervisor to review this because this was not what I was told when I signed up. He put in a request and said 2-3 days I'll get a call... I didn't. I waited another full week and called back. Same thing, I explained what was going on and the woman this time said she's going to pull my claim ahead to be reviewed by a supervisor and I'll get a call back in 2-3 days... AGAIN no callback and waited another week and a half. On 2/1/2017 I call again to get some answers and the rep tells me the supervisor reviewed my claim and put notes that they "heard" the call recording and said they went over everything with me and I was misunderstood... Keep in mind this trail covers only 10 things. They basically insult me by indirectly saying I'm stupid there's only 10 things the trial covers.
I ask to hear MY OWN phone call with them and they said they think they will not let me hear it... Come on if I knew what my puppy needed wasn't covered don't you think I'll ask the vet for a shampoo and conditioner that I can find at a pet store first??? But no they make it sound like you're in good hands and to just submit the claim that you'll get your money back. LIES! So now we are weeks down the road and all I have now is waiting another 2-3 days for a supervisor to call. I wouldn't recommend ANYONE to sign up with this scam insurance. Such Poor Customer service. DO NOT DO NOT believe anything they say and if you do decide to sign up MAKE SURE that you ask what EXACTLY this "trial" covers AND GET IT IN AN EMAIL because to me it doesn't cover anything your pet would need in the first 30 days of your new pet.

After doing this several times, they send a letter stating that the claim was submitted too late. Not once did I submit a claim and receive a payment on the first try.

My cat has never been sick, but I had purchased the wellness plan along with the insurance with them. 24PetWatch paid every wellness claim in a timely manner and I was very happy. I recommended them to everyone. Now they have sold the company to North River Insurance Co. I have received a notice that my insurance is going from $309 a year to $1059 a year!!! I got the trial of this insurance for my cat when I adopted her from a local shelter. It's a complete joke. There's a 30-day waiting period for illnesses (conveniently, the trial is 30 days). My cat was diagnosed with a heart murmur about ten days after I got her, and there was no record of her having this prior to adopting her. I called to increase her coverage and see if they would cover her diagnosis and treatment, and they said no. It's not on the list of conditions covered by the trial, so they won't cover it.
It's also considered a "pre-existing condition" so they won't cover it if I increase her coverage, even though she's had a policy with them before we got the diagnosis. I fail to see the point in them giving anyone a "free trial" if they won't cover a sick animal for the duration of the trial. I'll be canceling the policy once my "free trial" is up. I really wish I'd gotten the cat a policy myself after I adopted her. Learn from my mistake and stay very far away from this company.

It takes 90 days for a claim to be processed, you have to file the claim within some ridiculously short time frame.

I received an email yesterday saying my claim was completed, amount to be paid $200. I am covered for up to $3,000 annually. Not to mention it's September 13, 2016... Now I'm on hold again for 30 more minutes to try and solve this... I am already heartbroken dealing with my dog's death, now I have to fight with them to get the money owed to me about it. Do not get a policy with them.

Adopted a shelter pet on May 3, confirmed gift policy May 6, clean bill of health for dog May 6, ended up in ER Vet May 8. Pet almost died from dual issues: canine herpes and pneumonia. After 3 prior reasons given why they wouldn't cover the $750 of a $2390 bill (happened prior to permanent policy (was under gift one though), a part of receipt covered the name on the paper, not enough info on 20 pieces of vet paperwork), I'm being told pneumonia is an excluded URI under gift policy. Kennel cough would have been covered. But it would have had to occur after I brought him home, not before when he was at the kennel. Really think under a short policy that kennel cough may not be relevant to being in a shelter and could therefore be denied?
Wait times for service on claims is always greater than 8 min. Longest was 20 then I hung up. I tweeted them because Chat wasn't available as normal. Got a reply telling me how to get reassessed, then they sent me wrong form. This is a bait and switch - "we cover ALL THIS, but we in little tiny print, don't cover any illnesses things that may occur." There has to be a REAL pet insurance company that is willing to pay for these issues! I signed up for two dogs and full insurance coverage of $5000 on each. I have no faith that if god forbid they get sick I'll see even $50 back. I want my money back and am cancelling this policy even if it takes a lawyer to do so. My positive comment - people on the phone are nice, keep to their company lines and do their tasks.

Worst experience imaginable. From beginning to end - 5 July, called to file a claim about my dog who had to go to the vet as of 18 July, no response. On 7 July, attempted to file a claim online, website does not function and does not allow you to fill in all of the necessary information, making it impossible to file a claim. Again, I called to seek assistance. Not only was I told they did not know what the issue was, they redirected me to a different pet insurance company whom they claimed managed the website with a promise that they would also email me a copy of the claim form I could fill out and send in via email.
The other group was, unsurprisingly, confused and told me they had no ability to alter 24 Hour Pet Watch's website and offered to redirect me. At this point I had been on the phone for over an hour and was becoming irrational so I politely declined. Once again, I called on 18 July (today), first call - 28 minutes before the call was ended on their end without being received. Second call - nearly an hour, ended without being received. Third call - 28 minutes, they answered, redirected me because apparently the person who answered couldn't handle my account, waited 30 more minutes, call was dropped without being received.
Fourth call - 28 minutes, ended without being received. Fifth call - I discontinued after 15 minutes. Sixth call - I went to sales to see how fast they would answer it took them 30 seconds. 30 ** seconds for them to answer when I called the sales line. If I ask for a supervisor, I am told they are busy. They take a name and number and I never get a callback. In the last year they changed how they process claims. Ever since it has been impossible to have anything go through. Customer service is 50/50 - they either are rude and unclear, or super helpful... then the claim gets denied anyway. Lol.
I have gotten claims denied over and over. I am 100% sure I am in the right. One of the claims is even for a medication refill they have covered for years. The reason, missing documents during claim submission. They have every document ever made for my girl. It has been sent by me and the vets in every submission form available. In the last year they changed the way they processed claims. Ever since, it has been impossible. I even had a rep on the phone who did it, told me we were done, and I still got denied for missing documents. I contacted my attorney and she will be taking it from here. Very efficient when collecting your money. Once they have it, that is where the efficiency ends! You submit your claim, medical info, invoice, etc. They tell you they have it... a few weeks go by. No word from them. You call back and then they tell you they didn't receive your info. Must resubmit. A VERY common tactic with them. They try to frustrate people into giving up on claims. Their Facebook page was essentially all comments from angry customers. When I informed them of this, the Supervisor blew it off and "just a few opinions" and wasn't the least concerned. They weren't a "few" opinions... they were nearly all the opinions. Interestingly after I pointed this out to them (they didn't even seem aware of what was being said on their own social media page) they took down the comments section.
I have filed a formal complaint with my state's Insurance Commission which is now investigating this lousy company. They need to be shut down, their assets liquidated and distributed to all those whom they have ripped off. Oh yeah, if you call and for their sales department, there is no hold time whatsoever. You are immediately in touch with a real person. But if you call to check on a claim, make a complaint, etc. you are on hold for a 30, 45, even 60 minutes. They never follow up on anything they promise. They are rude, arrogant, and generally don't know what they are doing. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE SORRY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, DO A QUICK SEARCH AND LOOK AT ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS. 100% WORTHLESS.

I have outstanding claims dating back to March of this year. Every time you call these people to check on the status it's always something different they need and even when you supply the information the claims have still been rejected. I have talked to three people, sent numerous backup, via email, fax, and scans and I still can't get my claims. Now it's come to the point where they ask you for your name address and phone etc. and they still can't pull off the policy number of the dogs. Then they want the fax number where claims were faxed from.
I told these people “I am done. You have no problem taking my payment from my credit card each month for the last nine years now I can't get a simple claim paid for vaccinations and wellness.” I said “Cancel my pet policy on both dogs immediately.” I have had it with the lies. I also let Brandon know yesterday (June 30th 2016) that if anything was charged on my CC I would dispute the charges. Run far away from this company as possible. They are just taking your money!!! There is always some excuse, it is either they did not receive everything in which case you don't know until the deny your claim; The claim form has changed which you discover after your claims are denied and the claims is too old (over 90 days).
You cannot get any status updates just a letter to say the claim is denied and then you can try and contact them. I really wonder if this company is a scam. I have been buying this insurance for my dog for 3 years now. Never had to use the insurance until recently. I wish I found this out much earlier, maybe I would have saved couple years of premium. First of all they only give you 90 days from the date of the “initial” treatment date to submit the claim, other insurance company give almost 9-12 months. Then they make you go get the form completed by the vet instead of themselves getting it from the vet like other insurance company. I don’t know about other vets, but my vet is so busy it took him a month to get the form back to me. Luckily I was still able to send all documents to 24PetWatch on the 90th day from the initial treatment date, but 24PetWatch declined my claim anyway, the reason given was “claim submitted outside of the required time frame”.
So I had to them and asked for management to review because it was submitted on the last day. So this time they came back and declined my claim again, this time, the reason was “missing medical history” which is BS because they do have the medical history. Now I will have to call them again. I will not give up like they want all the policy holders do. This insurance company really need to be shut down.

I am very disappointed with my experience with 24PetWatch. At present, they owe me payments on over $8000 worth of claims. Here are just some examples of things they have done to me. I have had submitted claims which they received be unpaid as they came in after a 90 day waiting period. I have documented that the claims were sent and received in a timely fashion way less than 90 days. They have tried to cancel portions of my policy due to excessive claims on a specific illness. They have changed the requirements of what is needed for a completed claim and after I submit everything they still tell me that I have not submitted everything though once again I can document that I have. Now mind you, they did not inform me (or probably anybody else) that the claim documentation requirements had changed until after they processed a claim and failed to pay. Never an email or postal mail indicating a change, nothing.
You try to call them and sometimes you can get a person on the line. Other times you're told wait time are long and they will call you back. The call backs never come. I filed complaints with the New York Department of Financial Services which regulates insurance companies in the state of New York and that finally got their attention. But now I have had to do it again two weeks ago. If for some reason that avenue is unsuccessful, I will make a special trip to NY to file against them in small claims court. The amount of money at stake in my case is too large to let just fritter away.
I'm not going away. All I want is reimbursement based on what the policy says I am entitled to. But I can't even get them to process claims! Dealing with them is a constant source of aggravation and consternation. I do not recommend them in any way. I do take some comfort in knowing it's not just me who has problems with them. The evidence is pretty clear they will do anything they can to make the claims process as difficult as possible.

People need to call their State Insurance Commissioner and find out what the law is in their state and to report these people. My son is an attorney and he told me to tell them if this claim does not get paid, he will sue them in the City Court. He said they are an out-of-state company doing business in my state. He said by my state's law they have 30-days "after satisfactory proof of loss" to pay the claim.
They don't even deserve a 1 star rating. I received the complimentary 30-day gift with the adoption of a pet from a shelter. Claim (of course) was denied. Never received any notification it was denied (they claimed they mailed me something). I called them on the phone before submitting the claim. I told them exactly what I had to send. They told me they needed one more thing, Soap Notes. I go back to the vet and get that document. Mailed everything in (kept copy of what was sent). I asked them over the phone if there was a deadline on filing the claim. Was told 90-day deadline. (Today on the phone was told 60-day deadline).
Two days ago, I got on their website to check on status via their chat. Woman on chat named Stephanie was very rude when I tried to find out why claim was denied. This is an excerpt from our chat: "Stephanie: Ma'am we can continue to argue about this back and forth however at the end of the day an incomplete claim was submitted and the only way to have your claim processed would be for you to submit a full claim." She claimed the vet did not have a diagnosis. The vet checked on the form "upper respiratory tract infection" which is a diagnosis. They are equally rude over the phone. I have never experienced such rudeness from a business. After the chat, I called customer service and the lady on the phone told me the claim form was not incomplete, it did show the vet's diagnosis, and all they needed was "soap notes". Of course, the soap notes were submitted along with the claim. That was what I made the extra trip back to the vet for.
Now, a phone call again today, get another version of why claim was denied. Man on phone was rude and short. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told only 1 on the floor and supervisor would call me back within 48 hours (doubtful that will happen). I plan on getting my cat pet insurance with PetPlan. They are a lot cheaper, better coverage, better reviews, nice people on the phone, and you get a 10% discount if you are an AARP member. The vet's office has even recommended PetPlan. After having Sadie for approximately 2 weeks, she began showing the symptoms of Parvovirus. After taking her to the vet, who confirmed a new diagnosis of Parvovirus, I contact this insurance company to get instructions on how to begin a claim. In the beginning, the representative was very helpful. Because my vet of choice did not make insurance claims, I had to pay out of pocket and the insurance company would reimburse me all but the $75 deductible. After getting instructions on gathering the needed information, I was informed that I would receive the reimbursement within 25-30 business days. This was at the end of January.
In the middle of March, after still not receiving any money, or any word for that matter, I called again. This representative was NOTHING like the first. In fact, this one was very short and rude. I was then told that their company was still working on processing my claim and there was no way to tell how long it would take. Requesting to speak to management does no good, by the way. I called again at the beginning of April about the same reason (no money, no notifications), this time LIVID. Not only have I not heard any information about the claim, but this company has my information as well as information to access my checking account!!!
After showing my butt, I was finally informed that the claim has been accepted and that I should receive my reimbursement by the beginning-middle of April. I did, in fact, receive the money April 8, 2016. So, long story short, 2 rude sales reps later, I received the reimbursement on April 8 for a claim that was submitted at the end of January. I then came to Consumer Affairs' website to find this overwhelming amount of negative 1-star reviews on them and their service.
After reading these, I do not feel confident- nor after speaking to their rude staff- that I will ever see payment on the claim I made sure by reading the fine lines of their policy should be paid out. It was the same excuses as other reviewers... that they are training new adjusters. The only things they were good at was convincing me how wonderful they were when I signed up and arguing when I kindly asked for answers on my claim. This company is a joke. Their pre-existing clause is sweeping and will afford them the ability to deny basically any claim they don't want to pay. When you call customer service to discuss it, they will talk to you like you're stupid. When you request to speak to a supervisor, they will tell you all they can do is request a call back within 48 hours. Then you won't receive that call, but somehow your account will be noted that they called you back and left you a voicemail (you never received because they never actually called you back). You call back and go through the same cycle a few more times.
After a MONTH, you'll finally blow your top at the newest agent who thinks you clearly haven't understood the previous four agents and they believe they can explain it in a way you will understand. Miraculously, only then does a manager calls you back -- that same day even, but only to tell you she can't do anything for you. AND now to make matters worse, she can't refund your two premiums that have posted in the process of this call back game, despite what two of the previous agents promised you and noted in your account. So you cancel finally. In other words, good enough insurance if your pet never suffered any kind of illness whatsoever in the shelter so you won't have pre-existing conditions and if you never have to call customer service and have someone talk down to you.

I have used 24PetWatch for 3 years now and prior to their purchase Purina Pet care Ins. I have always been quite satisfied with their Pet insurance up until recently in 2016. I have found they are way understaffed. Claims are not being completed on timely basis. They do not answer the phone. Once you are on hold they hang up after an extended period of time. I did however reach a very helpful individual Leylone, who informed me that the claims are being processed 56 days out due to transitioning new staff into the US company. They are in training and because of the difference in laws and regulations it is taking a bit more time than expected.
I called 1-866-275-7387 (Pethealth Inc) and reached her almost immediately. She informed me the correct phone Number is 1-866-597-2424 and I said that is the one no one picks up and she did answer the 275-7387 number. I inquired if they were going out of business, and she said far from it. They are just in the training process re the transition. I'm still a little worried so come the 2nd week in April if I see no reimbursement I'm looking for a new provider. She did have all my claims and verified the amounts too so I am hoping for the best.... Hope this helps.

Like many others, I too extended a complimentary policy I received when I adopted a pet. I purchased a premium plan, and included all three of my pets. I am disgusted after reading these reviews, as I too have had the same experiences - hold time in excess of 30 minutes, being told they are hiring more people, being told that a Supervisor is unavailable.
To that consumer who commented about knowing our policy and what it covers - I have read my policy from cover to cover, and I know what I purchased. On a previous call, I was told that I could send in records/receipts/etc., from multiple vet visits versus one at a time, as long as they were submitted within the claims time frame window. It was, and I did. After 8 phone calls to check the status of my claims over a 45 day period, I was told that the bulk of my "claim" was denied due to "teeth" which aren't covered in my policy, which I knew - but the rep told me to include anyway for my pet's records.
I sent in 5 claims total, only 1 of which was in reference to teeth, the others illnesses. I couldn't understand their mistake of thinking all the documentation was teeth, as I made excellent records for them to follow. I've called back 3 times, explained it 3 times, with each rep admittedly seeing the mistake that was made by the vet techs in Claims. Each time I was told a Supervisor would phone in 24-48 hours and still nothing. I paid annually and I'm sure will get nothing back if I cancel. This place is a fraud; how can they be allowed to do business??? I want my money back!

We have three dogs and all have been covered by 24PetWatch (original policy was with GEICO, but somehow they bought that out) since the age of 8-weeks. Every time they see a vet, the medical record is sent through with the claim - I submitted a claim on Jan 31 and had not heard anything at all, so called - they said the delay was 1) because they were missing relevant medical history and 2) they are SHORT STAFFED! I pointed out that they have a more complete medical record on this dog than the vet we are currently attending since they had covered him since he was 8 weeks old!
After an hour on the phone (40 mins of which was on hold while they assisted other customers with their concerns) I went around and around with the "customer service" rep - who cannot tell me when this will be resolved. He was condescending, inarticulate, and unable to provide a solid answer. I asked for the corporate telephone number so I could call and speak to the head of the company - Mr. Sean **, to voice my dissatisfaction with their claims procedure, but he could not provide that. I asked for a supervisor - nope, not until Tuesday (this is Friday) - they are in meetings! As soon as this claim is paid I will be cancelling the policy. For the money it costs in premiums I would be better to save it in a savings account and pay out of pocket.

I made the huge mistake of continuing coverage with this insurance company after I adopted a rescue dog. It was by far the worst insurance service I have ever encountered. Every single time I called their customer service line, I was on hold for at least 30 minutes, sometimes over an hour. But the worst part was trying to get them to pay for a valid claim. Having been a Vet Tech for years, I know this was a valid claim and they denied it based on a previous different illness. Their dispute process is also a joke. I was never allowed to talk to anyone that could make a decision, and this claim was continually denied even though my regular veterinarian and a specialist completed the necessary paperwork to explain their denial was based on wrong information.
I repeatedly received the same canned letter over and over again. It is though no one ever took the time to review the paperwork they themselves required. Or perhaps they don't know what they are doing, or never plan to pay out anything. In any case, they lost my business. I have cancelled my policy with them and have enrolled her in another reputable pet insurance company for which I have over a decade of good experience with. I would never recommend this insurance company to anyone.

My husband and I signed our dogs up for this insurance back in June 2015. Shortly after our new puppy started limping and we were worried she may have hurt her hind leg. We took her in for an x-ray at the vet. The vet confirmed nothing was fractured or broken and that she may have sprained it but ultimately would be ok. Our claim was denied by 24 Hour Pet Watch because she DIDN'T break her leg. They informed us they would have only covered it if there was damage to her leg - but how do you know there is damage without an X-ray?
Later in the month our dog Nibbler cut his paw in our backyard (we moved into a new house and there were metal law dividers in part of the landscaping we hadn't realized were there). He ended up needing 8 stitches and 3 follow up visits with the bill totaling over $500. We submitted this claim immediately from the vet to 24 hour pet watch. It is now December 2015 and we have still not received an update on this claim after multiple follow-ups. We have emailed, waited on hold, submitted a request for instant chat - to no avail.
Additionally, a few days ago we received a notice in the mail saying we needed to update our credit card information. I logged on this morning to update the information and received an error message that our policies have been cancelled. We received no notice of this cancellation (phone call, text, email, USPS mail) even though they have all of our contact information. I've been on hold now for over an hour and still no one has answered my call. I'm very disappointed and frustrated with the service from this company.
As someone who is passionate about their pets' well being and treats them as part of the family I am saddened at the lack of support we have received for their healthcare. Every claim submitted has been something unforeseen and an accident which is what we strongly believed this company stood for. Now having realized they cancelled our policy without notifying us, we will be looking for services elsewhere. I truly hope other people have a better experience with this company and it breaks my heart that we and our pets have been tossed aside.

Not only do they pay in a timely fashion, the Vet faxes the forms in for me and occasionally has to refax them which is not a big deal. When 1 pup's tail need to be amputated, I got almost all the money back, which was over $1,000. There are different plans which have different levels of coverage so that may explain some of the problems people are having. You get what you pay for and it is important to understand your policy and how it changes over time. As a pet ages things change as well... Just as they do for humans. I also pay annually so there is no wait time when I need immediate service! :)

Submitted a claim for a hematoma on the right ear of my pet. The insurance company denied the claim of $841 stating that because he had a hematoma on the left ear in 2007 which is over 5 years ago they called it a bilateral issue. I have the extra coverage Champions and thought that it would cover some of the expense. This is not what they state in their marketing that they want to take care of your pet with their coverage. I will cancel my policy once they refund me the money on the previous claims which is now taking over a month. They will gladly take your monthly premium money but when they have to pay they are not quick about taking care of their customers.

I started with Purina Ins, and they were easy to deal with. I filed 1 claim with them and was paid within a month's time. No hassle. Somewhere in there 24PetWatch became my policy holder. I submitted claims of $1412.15 which, with my $500 deductible that left $912.15 of which I should have been paid 80% of that amount. After waiting about 5 months, I received a letter today saying that the total claim submitted was $1412.15. The total un-insurable amount was $1291.40, which made my deductible amount $120.75, therefore I get nothing back. I called them a hour ago, spoke to an idiot who gave me a line of BS. I cancelled my policy, told him what I thought of their company, he then hung up on me. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES USE 24PETWATCH. THEY ARE SHYSTERS OF THE 1ST ORDER. You will be better off going to Bill & Joe's Bar & Grill and Pet Insurance company. You will get better service.

I was originally with PetCare Insurance Program and had no idea they switched over to 24 Hour Pet Watch Insurance who not only raised the rates but have found EVERY reason not to pay! Changing their deductible without my knowledge, demanding blood work and medical records be sent in annually at a cost to ME, saying my husband was not on the account, which he has always been on the account. Delay in paperwork, which is not factual. This is a ripoff. Total waste of money. Instead, put $50 a month away in an account to help you pay for any medical expenses in the future. Will never deal with this company again.

Only if there was a Zero Star Rating.... The company's name changed a while ago from Petcare to 24PetWatch, website became extremely hard to use. There were no information on policy coverage like it used to. I had to make a few contacts to finally get my policy package sent to me via mail (which I would prefer to just see it online/email). When I faxed in a claim a week before my policy renewal date, I followed up two weeks later, then three, then a month later and FINALLY someone replied me saying there was no claim on file. This company is ridiculous. I will be switching over to PC Insurance. They've increased their price from $38 a month for my plan to now over $46 a month in the past 4 years. Service has only gotten worse. You will DEFINITELY REGRET if you sign up with them.

They said they never got my bills. When my Debit card they were sure to call me weekly to try and get my premium. I had 4 claims over a 2 and a half year period that was never paid. I didn't even know that they switched to 24PetWatch until they kept calling over and over. I was denied for Timely Filing. I paid them over $1,800 and they couldn't pay me the $700 they owed me. Awful, I got a new insurance and they had a check in my hand within 30 days. 24 Watch says they have 30-45 days and then another 10-14 days to mail. BECAUSE THEY ARE MAILING FROM CANADA.

I purchased a dog from Shelter Care that was supposed to come with a chip. I paid for it to be driven to my home. It came with a chip and person I bought it from said they'd paid to get it done and they hadn't had time to do it. Needless to say, they stopped returning my calls and never paid for the chip. After the initial insurance that came with it, I called and canceled and was kept on hold forever. My husband pays our credit cards through Quicken and we don't get paper billing anymore. We just found out we've been charged for years of monthly charges for insurance we canceled. I called and got put on hold forever again and explained. They said they had no record of the cancellation and did not offer any sort of refund. I've never used the insurance. Terrible customer service.

It would've been two years since I signed up for 24 hour PetWatch insurance on Aug 2nd, but I had to cancel my insurance this morning because of what I found out about the coverage. I was given the "gift of insurance" for a month when I adopted my puppy on July 28, 2013. Shortly after that, I bought insurance for my dog on Aug 1, 2013. And then I took my puppy for her first vet visit on 8/2/13. During the visit, I mentioned she'd been having exercise intolerance and the vet examined her and said she had a heart murmur. He said that sometimes puppies have it and it goes away as they grow older and that we should just watch her at home. We went back a few weeks later for more vaccines and because she still had the heart murmur, the vet referred us to a cardiologist.
On 9/18/13, I took my dog to the cardiologist and found out she had a congenital heart condition called tetralogy of fallot (TOF), obviously a much severe condition than a simple heart murmur. Just her ultrasound was $500 and she had to keep getting them every year on top of the other blood work, medication needed for monitoring and managing her condition. At that point I contacted 24 hour Pet for a preapproval and they covered her expenses with a $100 deductible. But apparently the coverage was only for 1 year and only up to $1500. As you can imagine, that doesn't do much for us since we're dealing with an ongoing condition.
I just got off the phone and found out that because the onset of my dog's condition was during the 14 day illness grace period after signing up for insurance, they cannot cover her condition any longer. Which I'm hearing for the first time after almost 2 years of having the insurance and having been reimbursed for other claims related to the same condition. I would've kept on paying for the insurance that could no longer cover her heart condition had I not called today to change my address and check on the claim that I submitted a month ago (that I still haven't received payment for). That's when I found out that only part of the last claim would be reimbursed because they classify the denial under pre-existing conditions.
Even though the dog's condition wasn't diagnosed till 9/18/13 and the insurance was bought on 8/1/13, the insurance company proceeded to label her condition before the specialist even had the chance to. They say it's because they go by the day of "onset" not diagnosis. The day of "onset" is apparently the date that they got from my primary care vet's notes about her having a heart murmur on 8/2/13; the day after my insurance was effective. What really upsets me is that they didn't bother letting me know that they will no longer cover her ongoing condition despite it having gotten actually diagnosed over a month after the insurance was purchased, well after the "14 day illness grace period".
It's irritating that the day of onset is the day I took the dog to the vet, who with all his expertise, didn't jump the gun for diagnosis and waited for a specialist to look at her for a proper diagnosis. How on earth do insurance agents get to determine coverage based on onset rather than diagnosis? They would've had me making monthly payments had I not actually called and sat on the phone with a bunch of questions today. And although my experience was negative, I have to add that when you do call their customer care, despite the long wait time, they were always courteous and polite on the phone. But that doesn't do much for me when the actual insurance itself is mediocre.

We have had insurance on our pets for 10 plus. Purina pet care was purchased by 24PetWatch. They have covered NOTHING! We have copies of all procedures performed on our pets and faxed in the day they were done. We have been informed that they were not received within the 90 days of the time allowed for 24PetWatch. The faxed paperwork has the date received printed on it showing received. They still deny. We were informed today there were no supervisors to speak with. Has anyone else experienced this? Purina insurance was great. We never experienced the problems that we are having. We paid our portion and they paid their's. We plan on retaining legal help. We have so many order numbers that we are unable to provide on this statement.

I have had my cats for 8 years. I got them microchipped a few years ago for safety. I was told it was a onetime insert fee of $30 and I was good to go. Sounds great. I needed to update my phone number. They won't let you do it online. So I called today to update my phone number (after sitting on hold for 45 minutes) AND they want $19 a YEAR per CAT to update my phone number!! I was so irritated. I asked the gal "sooo what was the point of microchipping my cat if someone finds her and they can't even call me." She said "whatever information I had on file at time of microchipping will be on her record forever."
SO if you plan on moving EVER, or changing phone providers and getting a new number, then it is pointless. I finally hung up. I decided to Google some reviews about the company, and by the sounds of it, I am not alone. I am glad I did not pay to update the information because it seems they are good at taking your money, but not good at refunding it.

Last week I adopted a pet from the Humane Society. A Microchip was already inserted into the dog. This company has been calling me every day. If I don't get to the phone by the third ring, they hang up. I only know who has called because I have caller ID. When I do make it to the phone it's a recording and I get two options "press one to extend the 'free' insurance that came with the pet you adopted or press 2 for other products". There is NO OPTION for them to leave me alone or for me to discontinue the "service". I have an autoimmune disorder and I sleep in increments. Yesterday the two times I could get to sleep, I was awakened by their calls. I should not have to unplug my phone (and possibly miss an emergency phone call from my children or my job) to avoid what has become harassment.

Avoid avoid avoid. Easy to enroll with automatic annual premium payments but nearly impossible to cancel the policy!! We carried this insurance for several years and, fortunately, never had to use it. After our dog died I pulled out the most recent renewal paper work to find out how to cancel the policy (and the automatic payment). There was no information on how to do this in the paperwork or on their web page. So I called. I spent over two hours listening to recordings, leaving messages, and waiting to speak to a human being just to cancel an existing policy. Even when I did speak to a human being, I was transferred with assurances that it would be quick only to be left on hold again.
Only when calling back (for the third or fourth time) and pushing the buttons leading me to NEW policies did I get transferred quickly to a human being. I complained to this person about their customer service for cancelling policies (even though they seem very efficient at customer services that generate revenue). I let them know that I am unhappy with their service and will discourage any and all who ask about pet insurance from purchasing 24PetWatch. He ultimately was able to transfer me to some kind of manager who was able to cancel our policy. I will also be notifying my veterinarian's office that they should discourage their clients from using this pet insurance company.

I adopted my dog and was told that she was already microchipped with 24PetWatch and all I had to do was call them to transfer ownership. I was also told that she had free 30 day insurance. I activated the 30 day gift insurance because her real insurance through VPI wasn't going to be active for a little over a month. I ended up taking Tasha to the vet for stitches using VPI in January and then 4 days later took Eve to the vet for worms using 24PetWatch. I received payment for Tasha's invoice through VPI but still nothing from 24PetWatch and trying to talk to anyone there is a joke... who has 45 minutes to sit on hold.
As for the microchip... they are telling me that the chip is registered to Eve, but since I can't tell them where she was chipped (apparently not at the shelter) they can't do anything for me. They told me to go have her scanned to make sure the number is correct... I know it is correct because they told me it was registered in her name. They also told me that once I verified the number was correct it was going to take SEVERAL weeks for the change of ownership to take place. Really with all this technology? SEVERAL weeks? Which is funny because the one time I called but didn't have the microchip number they told me to just call back and they would submit it for me.
I will be taking this microchip number and registering her with Home Again and will continue using VPI Pet Insurance. They are friendly, you can talk to someone without being on hold for 45 minutes AND your claims actually get paid out. Their website is awesome and you can see all your pets, and all their claims, the progress of the claim when it was paid out and for how much. You can also get pre-filled out claims forms for the vet to fill out. Save your time and money. DO NOT use 24PetWatch and switch to VPI Pet Insurance.

We should have read these reviews before we signed up with them. They totally lied to us. The sales rep said our kitten would be covered even though we told them he had a pre-existing condition. Then when we submitted a claim to get reimburse, we waited several months before we called to ask what the hold up was. That's when we were informed our kitten wouldn't be covered d/t its pre-existing condition. When we informed them of what we were told, they replied we never should have been told that! Well we were and now what are you going to do about your sales rep LYING to us? Nothing! But would still like to stay on with us? Really? Of course, we like getting screwed! Really?? We're glad it was only $30. Could have been a lot worse. STAY AWAY! If it sounds too good to be true, it is!
