I have had my pets on pet insurance for nearly 10 years. I have used 24Petwatch, Hartville, and a number of Canadian pet insurance companies. With 24PetWatch it has been seamless and every submission has had coverage. With 24Petprotect, I have submitted 18 claims with only 4 that have been covered. Each time they share it's related to re-existing conditions.
My Cat does have some elevated liver challenges, however, the cases when he has been brought in to the ED for high temperature, a required treatment or procedure or anything that falls anywhere close to "possibly due to health condition" they have denied. I do not like to write reviews as each person's experience is different - however, for me to get an email stating that My cat's insurance premium is increasing to cover the costs of his medical bills has been the final straw for me. Please reconsider this company for insurance and do a lot of research prior to putting your pet on one of these policies!!!!

We've had a great experience with 24PetWatch! Our dog came from a rescue with their Lifetime Protection Membership (microchip & reunion assistance if he's lost) and a complimentary year of pet insurance, which we decided to keep. We're so glad we did. He's the sweetest pup but has had more vet visits than we'd ever expected. He's only 4, but has had frequent ear infections and several minor injuries (he plays a bit too hard sometimes). Most recently, he was hospitalized for pancreatitis, and having pet insurance was a huge relief. We were reimbursed within days. It made a stressful situation so much easier, not having to worry about the vet cost. Highly recommend!

The absolute worst experience. I submitted a claim for each of my pets on the same day. 24PetWatch took a reasonable amount of time to get the process started. From there it went poorly. They claimed they never received the appropriate documentation from the vet when they initially denied my claim. When I called I specifically was talking about both claims but they never mentioned that there was only one claim. It was the 3rd call, months later, that I made where this information came to light. Not only are they denying my claim, stating that I had to submit a request to reopen or reassess the claim, which I was not told or provided written notice of, but they also failed to acknowledge that they didn't receive a second claim which was submitted the same way the same day. This company is simply taking money and not providing the promised services.

Impossible to cancel, no billing reminders, not even a billing section on your account in order to see past payments. The website is janky, bugs galore. They send plenty of marketing communication so they can send emails they choose to not send any notifications that are actually important to you as a customer because they know how poor their service is and that you would be likely to cancel before they can take out the next payment if they did notify you. Feels predatory. 0/10 Could not recommend less.

The title says it all. If was not for the fact that my rescued pup was already registered with 24petwatch I would NEVER use them. Very poor customer service. Does not care about reuniting pets, but more about making money (in my personal opinion). Stay clear. There are MUCH better options.

Called the customer service help line to update some information, They asked to verify some information, told me all of my info is incorrect (it's not), and then laughed at me. The customer service rep had a terrible tone of voice, horrible customer service skills, and people skills. Not to mention this was after waiting 10 minutes on hold before even getting to a rep.

My dog Jasper just recently died at a good age of 14+. He should have died 3 times before but thanks to 24PetWatch, we were covered enough that the cost to keep him alive wasn't a barrier. The people we spoke at their support line were friendly, empathetic and accommodating. We're going to wait a few years before another pet, but I won't hesitate using 24PetWatch again.

If I could give them ZERO I WOULD. I called in because my golden retriever passed away and instead of being met with an ounce of compassion BHAV just talked over me asking me for my insurance policy number. I said I only had micro chip coverage. I only pay 25.00. He again talked over me and said, "You have insurance." Finally took the number and said, "LIKE I SAID YOU HAVE INSURANCE." I would love to know what pet insurance costs 25.00, gave me another number. I called that number, got BHAV AGAIN AND SAYS, "I JUST SPOKE TO YOU. I GAVE YOU NUMBER." "Seriously I can dial a phone. I did call that number and got you UNFORTUNATELY!!"
I then finally get someone else and she also says nothing in terms of my condolences for your loss. You people are dealing with customers who have a sick dog or in my case someone who just lost a pet, a family member and you can't even say "My condolences," and show a second of compassion. This company is absolutely disgusting to customers. If I was not calling in to cancel based on this experience, would have cancelled regardless. If you are thinking of getting any type of service from this company.... don't!!!!

Total Scam --collects money and does pay any claims. Submitted one claim after 2 years and they state not covered when clearly shows a breakdown of what is covered. Do not waste your money and more importantly -DO NOT DEPEND ON THIS COMPANY IF YOUR PET NEEDS CARE--- EVER.

My cat had cancer and eventually had to be euthanized. The insurance claimed it was "elective" and wouldn't pay despite medical records, ultrasounds, and biopsies saying otherwise. It wasn't elective for my cat to die you POS company.

This company bought the Found Pets company which is who I had my microchips through. Now I'm forced to use the 24PetWatch and it doesn't allow me to sign in with my other account like it says it will, so I create a new account through them and it only allows me to add my 1 dogs and tells me my other 2 are already registered.... I've sent 3 emails now to have this fixed. Been over a week and NO response. I tried to call and couldn't get anyone to answer.... This is ridiculous. This is a vital part of caring for my dogs and they purchased the original company I had which worked great, now I cannot update information for my dogs because 24PetWatch won't even help me. I got my dogs Microchipped for a reason and this company made 2 of my dogs' Microchips useless.

I adopted a dog from the local animal control and was given the microchip for my vet to implant which was done. I just tried logging in to make sure my contact information was correct and to update his name but was unable to. The man who answered the phone was rude and argumentative. He seemed to have an issue with me wanting to log into my account myself to updated my contact information and dog's name. Then he told me the microchip would cost me money and when I tried questioning that he had an attitude; I assumed the microchip was part of the adoption fee. The conversation was cut short when we somehow lost connection or he disconnected the call. Awful customer service and I would never recommend them or give them any money.

I have contacted customer service multiple times and cannot get anyone to respond to me. Awful CS. My dog passed late February and I would like to get reimbursed for the months I was charged but I can't get ahold of anyone. Also not that great a coverage for how much you pay. Go with anyone else. I only signed up because it was convenient at the time. Never again. Submitting claims can be annoying and if you don't submit all the right things the first time, you have to go through an entirely different and worse process.

I adopted a dog in 2019. Paid in almost $2500 for the insurance which does not cover any of his checkups or shots. When it came time to say goodbye, they decided to pay $137 of the maximum coverage of $200. The reason they gave is the vet's exam is not related to the euthanasia nor did they consider the sedative used. No vet is going to perform a euthanasia without examining the animal first nor perform a euthanasia on an animal that is not sedated.

We have two dogs, and both had acl problems that needed repairs when they were less than a year. Fast forward to the age of 3 when we decided we needed pet ins because we have 2 dogs that visited the vet on and off for various reasons. The last 2 visits was for 1 pup for diarrhea and the other pup for inappetence. The ins company denied both claims because they deemed that it was related to their pre existing acl repairs. They took our money knowing they were going to continuously deny our claims due to pre existing conditions. Please do not get this ins...they are thieves.

I have had this pet insurance since my lab was approximately 2. I have submitted 1 or 2 claims in the 11 years since but felt I needed to maintain the insurance even though it was expensive “just in case”. With great sadness we euthanized our guy in September 2022. I submitted two claims. One for the day before his death and another for the euthanasia and cremation which cost us approximately $475. After A LOT of time on the phone with claims department and my claim being closed, opened, and various other disorganization I have been informed the max they will pay for euthanasia and cremation together is only $200. Considering my monthly premium was over $100 I am left with wondering why I wasted my money on insurance. Go somewhere else. This insurance is not insurance at all. Fortunately, it’s just money- I’d rather have my dog back. Their claim process is awful. They deserve no stars.

Three of my animals have been with 24-hour PetWatch for 2 years now. My one dog just got diagnosed with diabetes late July 2021. I put in a claim and was denied stating pre-exhisting condition, which it was clearly not. After the first initial claim, I have put in for others regarding his diabetes. I have yet to see a dime reimbursed to me and it is now the end of September 2021.
My vet and his staff have been fighting for us and are constantly submitting invoices and notes, but I still keep receiving emails how the invoices and documents are incomplete requesting resubmission and reassessment claims. My cat was at the vet a few weeks ago with an ear infection and I put a claim in for him. As you can guess....have not received any funds back. I am sick and tired of going back and forth with them getting the run around. My vet feels the same way. Words of advice, do the research first before choosing pet insurance. Wish I had and it's too late now for my one dog.

My dog has his microchip through this company so they are always peddling new services...I decided to make sure the info is current, and perhaps add a second number....Website is a disaster, w/ many malfunctions; couldn't upload a picture, my name is greyed out, and can't populate, and could not put in a second telephone number.
Frankly there in not much on this website that works. I was on hold for 30minutes for a representative, who told me maybe I need another department, and he gave me the same number I called....BUT they will sell you more services, this part of company seems to work well. I have no confidence that should my dog come up missing that this company can facilitate a reunion.

This microchip company is terrible! It's the only microchip company that has you pay to register, then pay an additional $29.95 plus $19.00 for each additional year to have your dog active. If you don't pay yearly, they won't call you if your dog is found and you cannot change your personal info. All other companies have just a one time registration fee of $19.99 and you can log in and change your info anytime and you are in their database forever. 24PetWatch also wants you to buy a tag for $17.99, they say the one they gave you at registration is temporary. They are making money off of people who are afraid of loosing their dog. Go with another company who won't nickel and dime you.

I have an insurance policy for my dog ZENA. I sent them everything from my adoption to present. Dog is very healthy so there are not many medical records to send. I had a small claim in late October for which I didn't expect any money but I wanted it simply to be applied to my deductible. I've sent all of her records 3 times so far and every time, nobody responds and when I follow up as I have done about a dozen times, all they tell me is, "We deny your claim due to insufficient medical records." When I ask to speak to a manager I always get a runaround and promise of a call back which has never come. I hope others read this.

Do your research. I adopted a cat from a local shelter. In my adoption package was a flyer for 24 Hour Pet Watch & Insurance. I signed up without researching the company thinking if the shelter was promoting, they must be credible, WRONG! Unfortunately, the cat I adopted was very ill, who would have known?!? Nonetheless, 24 Hour Insurance didn’t want to pay for any of her care, they were very slow to respond (other than to deny my claim) and very to deal with, lots of back and forth and scripted responses. Lesson here .... do YOUR OWN research. Sadly, the shelter isn’t interested in pursuing any action toward 24 Hour as they also have a microchip program. We’ll take care if this sweet animal ourselves and now that she’s been diagnosed with terminal cancer, any other insurance coverage is impossible. Sad but true reality of insurance companies.

Zero stars. Adopted a puppy for the family and was given a free trial of insurance. We didn't want to purchase insurance but I must have checked the wrong box because $40.40 started coming out of my account every month unknown to us. A year and $600+ later I called the number on my statement, talked to a rude CS and tried to cancel. In order to cancel I had to have the shelter's name and our adopted name of our last six pets, some now deceased. After a heated exchange on the phone they agreed to cancel the policy. Buy pet insurance if you will, but beware of buying insurance against your will.

I am submitting this review due to the very bad experience I had with this company. I would give it "Zero" stars, but that is not an option. I had this pet insurance with all of my cats (all were rescues). Never had a problem until I filed a claim for one of my furbabies. He had to have eye surgery to remove an eye that was causing him pain. After the procedure, I submitted all of the paperwork needed. That is when the troubles started. They said I was missing paperwork and needed to resubmit. I did this a total of five (5) times!!!! Each time the same reason was given. I called customer service and they said the same thing. The one person that helped (I forgot her name, but she was helpful) gathered all of my paperwork and submitted it for me.
A week later, got a letter saying we were denied again, for the same reason we were denied 5 times! Called again and got a supervisor. Told her that I was cancelling all of my policies and needed an answer in regards to my last claim. She said she would help and she submitted (again) all of the paperwork. This was almost a month ago and have not received any response or correspondence from the company. WILL not do business with again and will tell all of my friends and anyone who will listen not to do business with this company. They are nothing but a bunch of crooks peddling a product that uninformed people purchase and get fleeced by them. They were quick to take my money for the years I had them, but when I needed them to do what their policy asks for, I get no response or help.

I adopted an FIV+ kitten last year. I initially purchased this insurance for her after scouring the document to make sure she would be covered for any illness that might affect her worse because of her condition. A month, a respiratory infection claim was denied as a "pre-existing condition" - FIV is not a respiratory infection. After fighting over semantics of the policy agreement, I gave up on getting any reimbursement. Luckily for the rest of the year, she was healthy, and I never ended up using the insurance at all.
A year later, the policy auto-renewed without any kind of communication. Shady, especially since the agreement states I would be contacted, but not unheard of. When I saw the additional charge on my account, I logged in and was able to see the new policy. A very specific clause had been added: "If FIV [is present], then no Illness Coverage is available." I purchased the policy because of the (disclosed) FIV diagnosis. To add in a change like that without notifying me makes the policy essentially useless.
After learning this, I called to cancel and waited on hold for 45 minutes. I sent in an email to customer care, and admittedly forgot about it and never heard back. Months later, I noticed I was still being charged (I know I know, I should have been paying closer attention). I called the company, who said they never received my email but would gladly cancel for me today. In summary, I spent $500 for nothing. Do your research and go with a company that is transparent with its customers. In addition, long hold times on the phone are the only reliable way to contact them.

24petwatch Pet Insurance info was provided by the spca when I adopted my dog (wonderful pet). The spca made it clear they did not endorse 24petwatch. That's good because 24petwatch's operation appears to be designed to make the claims process all but impossible to navigate through. The phone reps requesting info are in no way the final say in what is required. That "disapproval" comes from another group that you can't contact. I was told 3 times I had submitted everything needed only to be told later that I had not submitted all that was needed. I consider this operation a scam. Steer clear.

My dog will be 14 in June and she has had health insurance through 24 PetWatch for 13 years. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I have watched this company grow and change over the years- it only gets better and more efficient. Their plans for level of coverage are very clear, their online service portal could not be easier, and I have never been denied a claim. Even when claims were done by mail and email, the phone service was compassionate and excellent (but I do love the online portal!!!).
My dog has had very serious (costly) issues over her life (Lyme, pancreatitis, Addison's) and in her waning years we have been dealt another blow with Congestive Heart Failure. Throughout- 24PetWatch has been there, always providing the coverage they promised and zero, ZERO, drama or haggling. There was a time about 4 years ago that my state changed the laws for pet health insurance and companies had to scrambled to get re-approved to do business in the state. It was terrible because my dog had recently been diagnosed with secondary Addison's (from the Lyme)- I researched other options and was floored by options- so many loopholes and disclaimers. Thankfully things worked out and they back-covered my dog so it was seamless.
With 24PetWatch, what you read is what you get- no hidden fine print. They review claims within 24hrs, and process them quickly when you provide correct documentation. I've never seen a claim take longer than 48 hrs in 13 years. Checks are received in a timely manner through USPS. If only human health insurance were this easy!!!! I can't bear to think of losing my girl, but if the time comes that we get another dog, I would not even research other companies. I would sign up with 24PetWatch from day one.

The adoptive home of a cat I fostered surrendered the cat back to me. The woman had some trouble trying to transfer ownership in terms of authority to register as owner on his microchip, and had to call them to get it started. She then told me I had to call them to confirm the surrender before it could go through. When I called, I was told I would have to pay a $22 transfer fee to get authority over his chip info back, but that the fee would be waived if I signed up for one of their monthly monitoring plans.
Being that I am in animal rescue work, I immediately recognized that as a scam, the legal term for it is extortion. Never before has anyone tried to charge me for transferring ownership as it would mean many pets would end up going without updated and current owner contact info. Furthermore, I could get an whole new chip implanted for $15, with lifetime access to changes and updates on registration info included in that cost. I called the company I use to keep track of my microchip registrations and they confirmed, NEVER pay for that.
They immediately got the number released for me to re-register as well. This is a deceptive business practice that to me is a major red flag for this company. I would hate to think of what they would charge if your pet went missing. Would they charge someone who found the pet to contact the owner or release owner info? Be very, VERY cautious about using this company. Do your research on them thoroughly first, or better yet, use one who is not looking to cash in by nickel and diming you for things that would otherwise be free elsewhere.

24PetWatch has been a lifesaver with our two year old rescue dog. We were given a free one month trial through the adoption agency that brought him to us, and have stuck with them. Our baby has had more medical issues than any dog should at his age, from hip and elbow dysplasia that both required surgery in his first year, to idiopathic epilepsy requiring Specialist visits and an array of monthly meds, and more recently, a torn ACL also requiring surgery. Had we known that destructo dog would have these medical issues, we might have gone with a plan that has unlimited coverage once you hit a certain point, or at least a policy with a higher coverage limit, but we increased his policy at the time of renewal so have had no problem getting his more recent issues covered (we simply ran out of coverage the first year so had to pay the balance out of pocket - not the company’s fault since we picked the policy limit).
24PetWatch is very reasonably priced compared to some other options, and the claims process is extremely straightforward and easy (I usually submit claims within minutes on my phone). I generally have my refund within a week. I obviously can’t speak to issues others have had cancelling the policy, and luckily have not had to deal with his microchip at all, but changing our address when we moved last year wasn’t an issue online.
