    I, like so many others used this shady service to locate the owner of a phone number and thought I was paying a small fee of around $1.50 and months later I see they charged me $24.95 from July through November (a total of $125.00 for NOTHING). When I called them to complain they said they could only credit me for 2 months! What a way to make a living! Who are we going to scam today?! They sound very professional when you talk to them on the phone but they are crooks.

    I paid 1 dollar to use their service once. So I thought that was done. But today I was checking the record transaction records of my credit card. I found Peoplefinders has charged me around 20 dollars 9 times. I never authorized those charges. I called them and they immediately canceled my "so called" membership that I never signed up and refunded me 3 months membership fees. I wanted all my "membership fee" money back but they hung up on me. Don't use peoplefinders.com!

    I signed for the 7 Day trial membership $5.95 USD. Yesterday on Jan. 23 2020 I got the email verification with my passcode to enter to my account immediately. I thought so far so good. But when I clicked on to view report then came my 1st. surprise: even though at my search found all the information was available, I got the reply that they have to continue the search and I will have the result within 24-48 hours. The 2nd surprise came when the provided password didn't work. The 3rd. one was that I didn't receive any response, while several attempts to reset the pass-code. 4th surprise the the advertised 1-800 number can't be called from Canada. I don't have any cancellation experience yet. But based on my experiences so far, I still waiting for a proper response from Peoplefinders, but my future doesn't look too rosy.

    I replied to a solicitation to use this company's search tool. I expressly said that I would only pay on a per use basis and then would decide later if it was helpful to my law practice. Consistent with that, I was charged 3 small fees. Four days later I noticed a monthly fee and reported to PeopleFinders that I did not sign up for monthly or recurring use and was assured I would be removed and a reimbursement would be forthcoming. It wasn't. Unfortunately, I paid no attention thereafter as I thought it was resolved. For almost 2 years I failed to notice amongst my numerous credit card bills for the office that I was charged $24.95 monthly, and that another charge, under a cover name "CFK" was also charged at $14.95 monthly to my account. Their response was, unbelievably, for me to give them proof of their cancelling the account when they failed to cancel it as I instructed.

    They have to know then that what they asked for is impossible to provide as it doesn't exists due to their error. As others have noted here, this is nothing more than a scam. And I am sure that they have hundreds of persons they have billed like me, who have never used the service but once and yet were charged for months or years thereafter. A class action suit may be necessary to ferret out the truth about this company's practices.

    On 1/3/2020, I enrolled in the $3.95 trial membership, for 3 days, if cancelled in 3 days you would not be charged the full membership. Well, it wasn't even 1 full day of trial period and I cancelled, checked my banking account, and lo and behold there were two 2.95 charges. I called customer service and was told these were cancellation charges, misleading company, never heard of such a practice. I will be contacting BBB to key them know of this deceivable practice. What a scam.

    This website offered to give me the name that a phone number was registered to if I paid for membership or a one time report. I selected the one time report and entered in my payment. The website advised me to "cancel my membership within 3 days" or I would be charged the $20+ monthly fee (even though I selected the single report). I was then told that I would receive an email when the report was ready. No report showed up. I went into my account to cancel it and avoid the monthly payment and was charged a cancellation fee. In short, I paid money for a suggested service and got nothing.

    I was caught by this trap. The phone number does not work, at least from calls from Canada. There is no disclaimer, not alternative number to call. Their cancellation button is intentionally in white color, against all standards of browsing, appearing to be inactive and thereby confusing consumers. It looks as if it is not active. When I came across this button I messaged them asking for information on how to cancel but did not get any reply. Their time is 48 hours so while still waiting for a reply (that never came) they billed me. Moreover, they “force feed” you with their rewards program, perhaps written in small letters or in a hidden part of their site. You only realize it exists once they bill you. So far they are acting as a very unethical consumer-trap. Avoid at all cost!!!

    Signed up for an introductory rate of $29.00 for a year in 2018. Suddenly - in 2019- started getting billed monthly at 29.99 a MONTH! Finally got it cancelled and tried to dispute but the credit card company (BOA) could not do anything. This is a SCAM- be very careful about using this service. I called directly to the company and the gentleman was rude.

    I paid to get access to one person‘s information using people finders as a web search for white pages. The result is I had to pay about a dollar to unlock the address of the person I was needing. And none of the emails they sent me or anywhere in line was it easily seen that if I didn’t cancel my membership in three days they charge me an additional $24. When I called the customer service to complain about this the most they could do on day three was refund me $22 of the $24 membership. I reviewed my emails nowhere in there did it say that I was paying for your long membership. They need to be more forthcoming on their payments. They help me find the place I was going but phone books are free.

    Half of the information is absolutely wrong! Can I sue them? Marriage status and people I am associated with? I don’t even know these people or my supposed spouse. This misinformation could be detrimental to me and may have caused me to lose my dead husband's pension as I am not married and they even give a name of my spouse whom I’ve never heard of before.     I had Peoplefinders do a background check and I paid $30.45 for a one-time report that was inaccurate in regards to the latest phone number, residence, birth month and etc. When I asked for a refund, they refused telling me that the information is supplied to them via public information. Well their 'Public Record Data' that they obtained is severely flawed and does not jibe with the information provided by other sources. They do not offer a customer satisfaction refund if not satisfied. I was SCAMMED out of my money and they should be put out of business. Buyer BEWARE, STAY AWAY!!!

    Signed up for 3 day trial to get my ex's DOB (info I needed for passport app). Their sites says they'll provide DOB-but new law in Calif (where they're) located restricts that to month & year only. Do they tell you this ahead of time? Of course not. AND they were billing for full service during trial so had hassle of disputing w/credit card company. AVOID this company.

    The REMOVE information function does not work. Their system said it could not find me, but a search for people using their system with the same information found me no problem. The CONTACT US function, used to have data manually removed, does not work. All of the CONTACT US blocks were filled in correctly, but their system says some information missing. It is too bad that my private information is used without my permission. Sites such as this should be OPT-IN instead of the more difficult OPT-OUT. After all, it is my information, not theirs.

    When I realized I had been charged the $29.99 monthly fee I googled the site and the website that came up did not have an option to sign in as I am using a different computer. I had to go onto the Consumer Affairs website to find out how to cancel the membership. The website is NOT user-friendly if one wants to cancel his/her membership. When I clicked cancel 2Xs I received an offer for $17.99 to keep the subscription. Hmmmmmm. PF should consider being more consumer-friendly in all aspects of its business practices.

    This site/company provides completely inaccurate information and claims they don't guarantee the accuracy so they will not refund. Called the company and asked for a refund and Kelly was as rude as can be. She flatly stated 'There's no refund, there's no guarantee and you should've read the fine print.' She then proceeded to say she is not going to 'waste time repeating herself' and hung up. Do not trust this site and company. They provide inaccurate information and the company is unethical.

    I signed up for the $0.95 deal. I didn't realize that I was enrolled in a monthly program. I had made the attempts to cancel that very day to no avail apparently because I was charged on my credit card $24.99 a week later. When I spoke to them I was told that I opened the account at a specific time and I didn't close it at the specific time within 3 days. Let's say I opened it at 2:10 and didn't close till 4:25. I was automatically charged for a month!! Please find a more reputable company to use!! They don't inform you that if you don't cancel within exactly 3 days to the hour you will be charged!!! A little fact they failed to mention!!!!

    I find it very funny that I am warned to be "factually accurate" when completing my experience. After I signed up, I looked up my husband's and my records. My report shows that I am married to my brother in law, and that his age is 119. (He is alive and 80). My husband's report was accurate in this regard; therefore the "public record" is accurate. I called People Finders and the agent stated that the information is derived from "public records." Somehow, someone, or some People Finder's system made this error (misinformation), and they won't correct it. I am cancelling my subscription.

    DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Absolute scam ripoff. This report contained so little information, it told me there were no records for things I KNOW there are records for - like my marriage to the person I searched. And the Trial Period offer on the website says I would be billed for $2.95 (I took a screenshot), but the email confirmation says I am billed for $3.95. I presume the company figures if they keep the cost to a few bucks, nobody is going to take the time to say anything about this ripoff company. Meanwhile, they're fleecing thousands of people for $4 a pop - it adds up. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

    Signed up for the $1 trial which claims unlimited access but you only get 1 background search. I'm a (Jr.) and it didn't even show me myself, only my Dad's info with my age. I tried cancelling my membership right before the trial period ended and I be charged the $19.95. Me not knowing there was a second "confirmation" page clicked the "x" in the upper right hand corner and then noticed the charge on my statement yesterday.

    I sent an email about the issue and requested that they get me my refund as soon as possible and they replied with "Our records show that you have already successfully cancelled your membership online," obviously not even responding to my refund request. I then sent in another email regarding my refund and their lack of a response, and they said "Our records indicate that you were assisted with this matter. Your membership is cancelled. Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for the product you ordered. You will not be billed again." I will never use this company again, and anyone looking for a background search should just check with their local county.

    I enrolled for the free trial. I ran 6 or 7 reports the first day. None of the reports were factual, if I could find the people I was looking up. I immediately cancelled the trial. In fact I sent in the information 3 times and never got an acknowledgement it was cancelled. Then I received my bank statement and PeopleFinders took out $24.95. They said I cancelled the subscription and wouldn't be billed again. I guess this company can only make money by scamming innocent people out of their money. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!!     I was charged 25 dollars a month for two months for a membership I did not sign up for. I paid for a reverse phone lookup, which apparently came with a trial membership. They have charged my credit card twice and I had no idea I had a membership or was being billed until today when I checked my statements from the past couple of months. What really upsets me is that even though I had this so-called membership, then I also paid 6 dollars per background check which aren't even included in the membership. Not only that but I bought a background report from this company that had no information about someone's criminal records. When I asked customer service about this then they told me they were not required to have valid information listed in their background checks. So this entire site is basically a scam website.

    This company is a scam. I ordered a $0.95 phone number lookup. As I went through the registration I declined all other services. I even received an email receipt for $0.95. They then billed my a total of $3.90 and when I canceled within 24 hours and they refused to refund the extra fees. Their customer service kept telling me I agreed to this. I am sure I did not. I am a senior executive and Chief Information officer. I know exactly what I agreed to. It is crazy they would argue over $3.90. It shows they have very shady business practices.

    Like many others my experience using PeopleFinders for a one-time background search was one in which I felt totally ripped off. The PF search returned almost NO INFO, and less than a simple Google search (which indicated the individual in question has an extensive police record). PF came back with "No records found" on almost every section. I gained ZERO from their service. In addition I paid extra for an emailed version of their "report" which never came, and when I went back into the "report" & clicked the email option their website wanted to charge me again.     Since 1999 PeopleFinders started their site to find anyone anywhere information. They started this 3 day trial for so many pennies on the dollar. Then if you don't cancel in them 3 days it charges you for their highest membership. But I tried them the other night for the .95, put in my bank info. Didn't get nothing that they claimed they done. Was trying to find a phone located, gave them the number. The phone is mine and someone else using it. Instead of tracking the phone gave addresses of stuff about who had my phone. They have always make it hard to cancel but too easy to get scammed for those pennies that turn into lots of dollars. I tried finding out how to cancel this 3 day trial. My bank started sending me fraud alerts. I immediately called them on the fraud hotline.

    They asked had I made a purchase for 5 different things, to tell them which was correct, 3 were previous things I bought with my card. 2 items were .95 the other was 24.95. Now remember this was only maybe an hour from signing on to PeopleFinders. They had done charged my bank account 24.95. I was only 1 hour in to their site. If I hadn't had a super banking system they would have got that 24.95. folks don't use any sites that want to charge for a 3 day trial. It's a scam. PeopleFinders started years ago and many companies have picked up on. I'm not saying PeopleFinders invented the scam but I remember years ago they got me and I had to threaten them. I had forgot about it till they tried it again.

    I had to look up my ex because I am suing him, I was told on the site that it would be 1$ or so, I found the information and thought that was it, got a confirmation email about the amount.     In the attempts to verify a divorce date for my husband's former marriage, we went to PeopleFinders.com and did a search on him. The site stated that there were records and so we purchased the one time report. Not only did it not show his former marriage and divorce date, but it didn't show his current marriage to me! I contacted PeopleFinders.com for a refund for information that was promised but not delivered. Their response was that they could not refund my money, but would offer me another search.

    I responded that I have no need for another search and want my money back. That was 9 days ago and they never replied. Buyer beware: They lure you in by stating that there are records on the person you searched. But the records you receive will be outdated, incorrect, and missing. I could care less about the couple of bucks I spent on this search - it's about the principle. Scam 100,000 people out of 2 or 3 dollars and you've got a thriving business running a b.s. company.

    Few things to point out about this pos site: If they fool you into purchasing a one time report for any amount they will automatically sign you up for a membership. In the first month you will be charged for your one time report and membership. They store your credit card info and will not allow you to delete it from their website. They send you one email to say you made an account with them and one email to say you purchased a report.

    They do not send any emails after that. And they never send one with any details about this said subscription you signed up for, that is right not one! Like typical subscriptions who send thank you emails for your payment every month. So they fly under the radar until you catch on. When you catch on and call to dispute. They will make you believe at first that 3 months is all they will refund. Until you push a little harder than 6 months becomes a huge favor from them. The representatives and supervisors are trained to manipulate you into believing that you in fact agreed to this subscription. And they will also tell you that no other subscription services (every single one of mine does) send a thank you for payment email every month that you pay. Then they ask you and I quote if you will take any accountability here because it is your fault.

    When you finally realize you are talking to someone who is trained to get you to believe that you are partially responsible, you will hang up and dispute it through your credit card instead. After you have wasted 2 hrs of your life you will do what I did and try to stop this from happening to others. I have not logged into my "PeopleFinders account" since the day I made the one time purchase and today when trying to dispute these charges. They charged me for a service that I never used or even thought about since making my one time purchase. And charged me for it every month without my consent or notification. They are a scam. They are fraudulent! They are trained in the art of making people believe they agreed to their scam. Do not I repeat do not fall into this trap.

    I tried to login in to People Search to find my long lost cousin. I was ready to pay, could not remember my password, had them send me my password, tried to log in and could not. Called cust service, was told I could not use my account because MY email was under someone else's name! I told them, "You just sent me an email for my password change, my only email for the last 20 something yrs." Asked for a supervisor. Was told next that email belonged to someone else, could not tell me who. I said, "This person committed a fraud, I needed the info to see what else had been done."     I wish I would have read all the 1 star reviews before spending 30$ on something Google tells me for free. This website has false advertisement. I wanted to look myself up knowing my history. This site promises so much information that they would be able to find, but has majorly failed to deliver. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY IT IS A SCAM.     Needed past addresses (I never kept them, stupid I know). But since I HAD to have my past addresses I signed up for a one time report (discounted to $9.95) and AFTER I paid for I found out that it DID NOT contain my prior addresses as promised. The addresses I needed were from an apartment I rented in my name and a home I purchased, also in my name, both over 20 years ago. Wish I had read reviews prior to purchasing.     They charge 95 cent just so you can view your prior addresses, but the hidden fee is that 9.95 that they are not upfront about. You can see your address at their first page when you do your search. Don't waste your time and money, they are going to charge you an additional fee for a criminal background check. I thought that is what I was going to see when I sign up. They showed me that same address history that was on the first page. When I called in to cancel there is also a 2.95 cancellation fee and the representative was rude and she hung up on me. Don't waste your time and money with this company. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!

    Purchased a monthly subscription 3 days ago. Go to log in today and it turns out my account was canceled and the site told me to call customer service. I promptly called customer service and was told that I would be issued a refund. Around 5 minutes later I received an email saying that a refund would NOT be issued and to call customer care??? So, I call again and end up speaking to the same lady, she tells me that a refund would not be issued and nothing she could do. I ask her why she said a refund could be issued but then turns around and doesn't do as promised, her answer? Talk to a manager...

    Total scam artists! I called back again and spoke to another rep and oh boy did she not know how to do her job. I try to tell her that I needed a refund since my account was canceled and she goes into a screaming fit telling me "HOW DO YOU EXPECT US TO GIVE YOU A REFUND IF YOU CANCELED YOUR ACCOUNT"?

    I let this lady continue her fit for a bit and then I finally respond, "Ma'am, I did not cancel my account, when I logged in it was disabled and I couldn't use it". Oh boy did she go silent. "You mean you didn't cancel," she says, "Yep I did not". Next words, "Well I can't help. Talk to a manager." Don't use this company. Thankfully all of our calls are recorded, will be taking them to the bank ASAP and doing a chargeback. Hopefully I can get these recordings uploaded to YouTube tomorrow and let people hear these unprofessional customer reps firsthand.

    I searched a phone number, it said it would only cost $3.95 so I figured “why not? May as well. What’s 4 bucks?” So I paid the $3.95 for a reverse phone number lookup one-time report. The total in my cart was $3.95 TOTAL (so it said) but very dishonest and misleading and no fine print even either... Next thing I know I get an email that I was charged $12.95 for a membership when I never once agreed to a membership or to $12.95 and then on top of that charged me the $3.95 too and the report said name and address were available and then in the report, it’s blank!! What a rip off!!

    After the fact I came across a different company that was amazing called TruePeopleSearch and it was FREE and instant and showed me a ton of information! It showed me name, address history for 10 years, cell phone numbers landlines, personal and work email addresses and relatives and possible associates. Blew my mind how this rip off company can charge and give you nothing. So mad. Dishonest company. Now I have to go through all this cancellation process by sending them an email?! Fun.

    I paid my subscription fee and couldn't log in. I forgot my password and went to retrieve it from mail and couldn't log back into the site. Said that that account was already registered and should try another account. Sorry. Will get out of this service as soon as possible. It SUCKS! Read too many reviews after the fact, that so many people have been taken from this site. You pay for the service and then you can't get the report, Not very good business.

    Just like everyone else, I was taken by this company's bait and switch scam. The service they over charge for is very bad and their customer service is even worse. Very rude and uncaring service reps. Overall I would NEVER recommend this service, there are many other better companies out there, DO YOUR RESEARCH, don't be taken by this scam. They will charge you more than what and when you call back to cancel and get a refund they will tell you to take a hike... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

    I signed up for 1 month at $19.99. I was billed $39.00. When I emailed the company they said, "We don't give refunds, We're sorry you didn't get the results you wanted." Results? Lol. What results? I looked up myself and about 10 other close family and friends and all it showed on every report was old phone #s, addresses and possible relatives. It's a scam thru and thru. I can Google my name and find 10x the info. My "package" included death, marriage, divorce, liens, addresses, relatives' phone numbers, criminal records, etc. And none of those ever showed up except like I said old #s, possible relatives and some addresses.

    This is legit a scam. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and whoever else I think I need to. I feel extremely taken advantage of and basically robbed... I even told them, "Keep the $19.99 I knew I was paying but refund the other $19." Ha. They don't give refunds. If you use this website you will be beyond angry. It's straight thievery on PeopleFinders.com part. I will continue to contact whoever I can until this is resolved. I am beyond upset at this point... I wish to God I had read some reviews because they all say what I'm saying "ripoff, scammed, lied to, overcharged and on and on and on." By the way they have a 1 * rating and that's just because you have to press that to go any further. So PeopleFinders.com make this right. You've done scammed enough people.

    Absolutely useless, most of the information is not correct or incomplete. I looked at my information to verify the accuracy of others and mine was completely outdated and most was incorrect. I cannot trust that whatever information they give on others is accurate.

    Every time you click on continue or a report you get a new price prompt. The only information returned was what I entered plus an address and cell phone which are no longer useful since he is dead. No information regarding birth, marriage, divorce or death was returned. No criminal records returned. When I ran it again it took me to a report on a site Persopo which required another subscription and money. What a scam. Do not use this company.

    My friend and I were messing around on this site today and not only did it have very little information on it to begin with all the information it did have seemed to be pulled out of thin air. They overcharged us $35 from our original purchase! Then proceeded to deactivate our account with no refund! This is ridiculous and we are out more money then we signed up with. Do not use this website. You could very easily get any of this information off Google or Facebook and it would be more likely to be correct.

    Our company has used PeopleFinders for both business and personal use. This site is bogus. For $9.95, you will receive less information than a basic Google search. Moreover, if you contact customer care for a refund not only do you have to jump through hoops to verify account information, they will inform you that their information is compiled of public information. Basically, search Google. No refund will be issued simply because they "compiled a report," which took less than 30 seconds but more time than typing a name in on Google. Total scam!!!

    WORTHLESS!!! Their "report" shows none of my marriages, divorces, children, sisters, parents or any relative as "relatives" and no traffic violations. (I WAS born, wed, divorced and had traffic violations.) Shows numerous people as relatives who ARE NOT related. When I asked for a refund, they only offered to do ANOTHER search. May as well take your 9.95 and throw it right in the harbor!!! Their actual reply... "Our system searches through billions of public records and collects every piece of relevant information. The charge you paid was for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. We are unable to provide a refund, but we will be happy to offer you another search at no additional cost." Wow! BILLIONS of records and every piece of relevant info and although they have all my addresses, they couldnt find birth/death/marriage/divorce/etc.

    I am applying for a government job and needed to obtain public records like divorce, traffic, and criminal records of which I paid an extra amount $11.95 to receive a one time report, hoping it might save me some time with gathering the data and dates, and the report only included potential address and relative information that was only about 60% accurate. It produced 3 marriages with people that I had never even known. Only 10% of public record with no way to further pinpoint my identity or search parameters. And it continued to attempt to con me into further charges as I began looking for the missing information. I thought it would save me time, but it ended up costing 2 hours and $12.00 more than it was worth. Shouldn't try and get people to pay more for traffic and criminal checks only to be shafted.

    My company uses this and it is literally the crappiest search engine I've ever seen paid for. If you don't use it for about 10 seconds, it makes you log back in and doesn't take you back to the search you lost. Overall, they're just trying to make you repeat your searches so they can charge the company more. They have lots of dups and tons of incorrect info.

    If I could give no stars, I would. I know PeopleFinders will be replying to this review stating "we do not guarantee all the info will be in the report. Certain states, and or counties list the information that can be disclosed". Guys, just look at their weak ** response to the reviews on here. I just wasted 29.95 for no background check. I know what is on my background, I just wanted to confirm something.

    When you pay the initial 29.95, they try and swoop you in to get their special. "Come and get 50% if you sign up for monthly reports." or, "Pay an additional 9.95 for reverse phone lookup." I'm telling you, do not, I repeat, DO NOT give them your money. There are better websites, and other resources than wasting your money here. If you are looking for a detailed report, do your due diligence and go to the counties which you may have had a case in. This website is garbage, and frankly, they should be ashamed of themselves for false advertising.

    I paid the $3.95 for a reverse phone number lookup one-time report. The page button to order says "get report now". All I got is an email saying it will take 24 hrs and another email welcoming me to the membership. How dishonest is that? On top of it all, they mislead you by showing results found but you must pay to get them, but, the fine print says there may actually not be any results. Money for nothing. I did not agree to membership, I did not get my report NOW. I bet I do not get my requested refund, either. I hope karma exists. Finally, don't call them. They don't care.

    I signed up for 1 month reports membership, which is $19.95 for 1st month and $29.95 each month thereafter until canceled. This membership claims to provide reports on a multitude of records, which includes things such as addresses, phone numbers, known associates, court records, arrest records, birth, death, marriage and death records, etc... I read and agreed to all the information presented, and accepted that there was a no refund policy. HOWEVER, what I did not expect was that PeopleFinders.com falsely advertises what they can provide; and if they actually do provide this information, then it must be in very rare instances, in which case I do not believe they should advertise this as a service without qualifying what that means. I only went to this site for the sole purpose of looking up the marriage and divorce records of one person before I signed a legal document attesting to the facts around that.

    In the report I got, I was gravely disappointed to find that not only were the marriage and divorce records not included, but little else was included as well. In fact, everything in it was something I already knew! It was a complete waste of my money! Out of curiosity, I decided to bring up my own name and see what was in my report. After all I might as well make use of the money I spent, right? Again, I was very disappointed. Not only was there a lack of information on me, including both of my marriages and one divorce, no birth record, and even an obvious gap in my associates including my own family, but there was an overwhelming amount of people that were listed as my associates whom I've never met and never heard of. Simply put, my own record was lacking in accurate information and contained a number of inaccuracies.

    I proceeded to research the site on how I could correct my record, but all I found out is PeopleFinders.com denies responsibility for the accuracy of the information on their site, because they gather this information from a variety of sources, and they will not change any of the information. I wrote them an email advising them of my experience and suggested they improve the accuracy of their records. Their response was to send me a form letter repeating what I already knew.

    So, I sent a second email expressing my disappointment in their response and the fact that they did not address my concerns directly. I reiterated my concern and expressed my concern that when someone pays money to access information about me (or anyone) that is incorrect, then they can make inaccurate assumptions about me (or the person they are researching) and PeopleFinders.com assumes no responsibility for it. I told them I felt it was unethical. In that email I made suggestions on how to improve their business practices by verifying the information they obtain, and being willing to correct false information, as well as adding links to the source of that information.

    Their response was nearly as unresponsive as their first. And their explanation was ludicrous. So, I decided to look at reviews given this website, which unsurprisingly and consistently earned 1 star ratings. With every complaint about PeopleFinders.com they responded with the same message over and over: "Please send us your email so we can address the problem." I feel that robotic response only confirms that PeopleFinders.com is truly not interested in helping, making their business better or more ethical or truly communicating. I'm utterly fed up.

    I retrieved my credit report through an online service while car shopping. This site came and state I needed to pay a $1 fee to continue to retrieve my report. I got the report and IMMEDIATELY cancelled the service yet my card was billed monthly at $39.95. When I called customer service to request a refund I was given the runaround. I escalated my call to a supervisor who basically told me I was out of luck. He refused to refund the charges, was rude and condescending. I closed my card to avoid any more unauthorized charges but can't seem to get this company to refund what they took without my permission.

    Each state has different laws set into place as to what they can release. We allocate criminal records from three sources in each state, the DOC , the AOC and the DPS. These different departments release different types of records such as felonies, misdemeanors and traffic infractions. Every state has limitations on what they can release, you will need to check with your state departments regarding public coverage to see what is available.

    A family member has a history of dating people who claim to be divorced but are still married. Wanted to see if family member's boyfriend was divorced or not. This site was recommended by a county. Paid for a PDF form because this was my first experience with these types of sites so just opted for a PDF record copy. When I received the report, it stated how there was no marriage or divorced record found. That was the whole point of purchasing this report. All it told me was information I already knew and didn't need. Very disappointed with this outcome. Waste of time and $10.45. Would not recommend and claiming to be "free public search" is also very misleading because these types of sites always want you to pay for some sort of membership. Glad I did not opt for the trial or any other services. Will be checking next month to make sure they did not opt in in some sort of membership service to collect money.

    Horrible service. I ran a background check on a potential tenant. All the personal info such as full name, date of birth, relatives, etc was correct. It was for the person I was running a check on. The criminal background check however was for a different person. The race was wrong and the date of birth didn't match. I called their customer service and they refused to refund my money or fix the issue. They recommended another website which just happens to be owned by them.

    I used the reverse phone number search for a cell number in Washington state. After compiling a report, a message appeared which said "Success! Full address available." So, I paid $3.95 for a one-time report. When it appeared, there was no address. When I asked for a refund, they said that I only paid for a search, no any results, AND gave me an address for a person with a different name who lives in California, not Washington. I just repeated my search, and got the SAME message: Full address available. This is plainly dishonest.

    I paid the 29.99 for a full report. I received name, phone number, and last known address. Everything you can see before you pay. When I contacted them for a refund they said they would give me one free report, that they don’t issue refunds. Why would I try that again? And if there was more than one person I needed to look into why would I pay for just the one... Their site promises all this info and then doesn’t deliver. False advertising. If there’s no info on the person they should tell you that before they offer you all this info that they don’t have.

    If you get a charge from this company that is unwarranted, simply ask the customer service of your credit card to do a "chargeback". You will not only get your money back, but it will eventually cost this company money because they get charged a fee when a customer does chargebacks due to their fraudulent activity. I went to the site often over the years simply to verify dob and name, for a small fee, but recently like many others I was charged for a full background check when I didn't wish for one at all. They will not give you a refund no matter how long you've been a customer so just do a chargeback and never use this site again. When I spoke to customer service at Visa it seems they are aware of this companies scams so they do and will promise your money back if you are sincere and have good standing. These companies do not have good standing so don't be afraid to complain to your card company.

    They require significant information about you to "verify" the account. This information then appears to be sold to others using their service. If there's any problem with your account, and you can't resolve the login problem, your Credit card number associated with that account is not usable on any other accounts - so you have no recourse to continue service. Their customer service is atrocious.

I don't have an issue with the search portion of the site, it's just the fact they send me some stupid form email letter to opt out of my number & name being displayed in reverse phone# search field. It's always "we can't find that listing nonsense of theirs" sighs, well it's coming up every time when I do a search. So someone's not smelling their own BS, or very incompetent at the least.     I ordered a 1 time background check for $1.95, 5 days later a charge for a monthly subscription shows up on my credit card. Okay, I failed to read the very small print on page 5, I accepted that charge as a my fault. I go to the "my account" page and cancel, but I get a notice that I can still use the site for the month of my paid subscription. So, I run a background check on a neighbor and WHAM, almost immediately, I get a notification that PeopleFinders charged my credit card $11.95. I call PeopleFinders and was told I only bought the basic search of name (I already knew the name), the address (again, this was known to me) and phone number (again, already knew that), and 3 email addresses (didn't care about those). So that is why I paid $11.95, plus the $19.95 for the basic worthless information. I did get the report, but it basically cost me $32.00.

    These little facts seem to be very well hidden on the page. They did provide what they promised. But be careful when you order anything from them. That 1 check for $1.95 will lock you into a subscription with no refunds, and it will be the basic that is really of no value. I mean in order to request the report you need a name, address, but they charge you to give you that. Just be careful and keep in mind if you do order, READ EVERY LINE or you will be paying for worthless information because you already know it.

    $10.45 for literally nothing. All I wanted was a wedding date that I knew existed, it's just that the particular state doesn't post online. These yahoos didn't have it and a ton of other information that should have been there if this was a reputable service. I eventually found Ancestry.com and got what I wanted. Lots more information and $9.95 rather than 29.95/month! I am sure there are others and I am not affiliated with any of them. Just felt PeopleFinders.com is a total ripoff. Nothing that isn't freely available on the internet.

    PeopleFinders Review. I selected a .95 one time fee to display the owner of a phone. PeopleFinders provided a fake name that I validated through state and county databases and refused to provide a full report. I immediately realized I was scammed, and cancelled. They charged me $2.95 to cancel. I emailed them and KC responded stating I agreed to the charge when I opted for a 'free trial membership'. I did not opt for the membership and have screenshots showing such. The $2.95 cancellation fee only applied to membership selections. They refused to refund. I found they also hide a "LIMITED GUARANTEE" on their site basically stating they can provide you inaccurate information and you still have to pay. I've filed complaints for false and deceptive advertising practices with the FTC, CFPB and BBB. I hope it was worth the $3, PeopleFinders, AKA Confi-Check!

    I signed up for a trial subscription in June 2017 as I wanted to find one address. I canceled that trial within the 5 day period. However, it appears that PeopleFinders has continued to charge me $24.55 per month since then. I didn't realize what this charge was when it appeared on my credit card as it is not state PeopleFinders as the source. I was finally able to figure it out. When I spoke to customer service today, I was able to get 5 months credit.

    I believe that I should get credit for all of the months back to June as I never signed up to pay this. I have an email with an order confirmation for June 6, 2017 for $5. I do have any thing from PeopleFinders showing another upgrade account, as I did not sign up. I have not used PeopleFinders during that time at all, and that can be verified. I know that there are numbers complaints regarding unauthorized billing and I am very angry about spending this money for a service I did not authorize or utilize.

    Either this company's access to public information is extremely flawed or it is a scam. I searched a KNOWN person in my family that has a lengthy criminal record and currently incarcerated. None of this came back in the check. The only valid info was known relatives, which had many gaps. STAY away from this service if you are using to check on someone for your safety. Simply inaccurate information. Because I know the person I searched, I found accurate information on the open internet. DO NOT use this as any sort of standard for a comprehensive background check.     We are a small business. We signed up for PeopleFinders because we got tired of being scammed by customers. Most customers are wonderful, but a few small time criminals slip through and can cause a small mom and pop business like ours some significant financial damages. Unlike most people we did read the fine print, we knew of what it would cost us. After trying this and that, we settled on a monthly membership, so that we could run a background search any day we need it. Some months we don't need to search, some months we do one or two searches.

    We like the fact that as soon as anything out of the ordinary happens we can run a search and get to "check off" a point for misunderstanding or for possible illegal shenanigans. While we don't decline service based of the results of the search, it helps us be on guard ahead of time. Now cheaters can't so easily take advantage of our good and trusting nature and desire to accommodate everyone. PeopleFinders is very helpful. What would make them better is if their search results were more accurate and up to date. For instance they don't have info on people from before the world got to do everything on the internet, but rather have info on more recent activities. So finding someone from long long ago is problematic.

    After paying $3.95 to do a simple people search with People Finders I was excited to see contact information. All I was looking for was a couple phone numbers. I was told I could do searches for 3 Days with the trial 3.95 sign up fee. So the first day I did find the people I was searching for with phone and address. I immediately made phone calls to the current phone numbers listed for both related people. In each case the phone numbers were not correct and belonged to other people. I didn’t get answers or a return call from the messages I left but the sound of the message asking me to leave a message wasn’t the right voice for the elderly folks I was trying to find. So I decided to cancel my trial the next day. Guess what... It costs $2.95 to cancel the trial. That was nowhere mentioned when I signed up. So it costs me $7.00 to find 2 bogus phone numbers. Stay away from this company! They are not upfront about their charges or services!

    Scam... read the fine print - I find this website and used it to find 1 person. I was charged an initial "TRIAL MEMBERSHIP" of $1.     I called 11/4/17 to cancel the subscription because somehow I was getting charged $29.95 a month for a site I used ONCE and paid $0.50 sent for a report and thought that was it. They were to refund the money to my account and I have email confirmation of this. I checked my account and the refund was credited to my account and then deducted from my account BY PEOPLEFINDER without authorization the same day! So unless the money is credited to my account and not deducted two seconds later, I will continue to feel this company is a scam. So then I try to call customer service and I just get a message telling me saying I called after business hours when the site clearly states it’s open weekends until 330 and I’ve been calling since 8am but of course no real human being actually answers the phone so I’m stuck with no customer service and I’m out $30. Cool.

    People Finders has very poor Customer Service and Management. I was continuously set up on a monthly deduction from my credit card that I never requested. I ordered a background check for one background and they turned it into 6 months of monthly charges. When I caught it and called to complain about the fraud they said they would give me a 3 month credit. Not enough! I called twice and asked to speak to a manager. Both times I was told my call would be returned by a manager and it never happened! I will never use this service again because they just want to grab hold of your credit card and run it up!

    First the reverse phone search was inaccurate with every number I entered, then the people search also inaccurate. I paid .95 for unlimited searches for three days. This was a waste of money. I canceled my membership within the three days time span so I wouldn't be charged regular membership fees since the service was trash anyway only to find out I'm being charged 2.95 just to cancel my membership.     I needed the address for the sister of a tenant who moved out without a forwarding address. I knew he lived with his sister prior to moving in with me. His sister is studying to be a nurse and has lived in Southern California for a least a year, if not more, because she is going to Nursing School. I could not find an address for my tenant, so I was contacting his sister so she could let him know I was pursuing legal action for several months of unpaid rent. I found her name and a listing for her in Sterling Heights, Michigan on the site. I was asked to pay a 3 day trial membership for her CURRENT address. Her current address is in California.

    I paid and the address for her I got was in Michigan. Totally useless information. When I went to cancel my membership, I was charged a $2.95 cancellation fee. That fee was not visible or explained at the time I paid for the membership. There were pop-ups after pop-ups trying to sell you several different "memberships" to keep you hooked. I hope I canceled properly. I read a review where they kept charging payments after the customer canceled because he only knew to cancel one membership and he was unaware of another membership which they kept billing him. I am worried they will do the same to me. It wasn't a lot of money initially, but if you don't cancel in time, the fees skyrocket.

After I ran a few inquiries I discovered that it did not produce any criminal information, divorces or judgments records for a number of people that had proven criminal records, divorces and judgments against them. When I figured out that it failed to deliver services that they advertised on their site I called to cancel my membership. I spoke to Emily and she refused to cancel my 19.95 charge. Next day I was able to speak to a supervisor Christine and she also refused to refund my 19.95 membership fee stating that they do not guarantee any info. But Peoplefinders.com is in business of selling information. However you find that they give you nothing only after you pay and they do not refund your money. This is a scam.

I was able to successfully dispute the first charges but PeopleFinders said I didn't cancel in the 5 day policy so I was unable to receive a refund on the $42.99. The problem is I didn't know I needed to cancel in 5 days or that I would be charged $42.99. Do not use PeopleFinders. It's a scam.

    I signed up for a 1-time person search for $9.99 and then I find out 11 months later that they have been charging me $24.99 for some rewards program I NEVER signed up for. I had to speak with three different people before anyone even pretended to care. They admitted they could tell that I have only been on their website one time and that I cancelled the $9.99 service. I do not understand how/why there would be two options of memberships anyway, you would think there would be levels perhaps; basic, premium, etc., but not multiple memberships. You are doing a people search. How many memberships are necessary for that? It's just a scam way of you signing up for one thing and cancelling it responsibly, but them tracking on some other 'membership' and continuing to charge your card and hoping you don't check your statement.

    It said type a name in and wait 15 seconds? After almost 12 minutes I got a request to join and a dollar amount that was well above what I thought it would be. The trouble was waiting then finding out I had to join for a total of about 20 minutes.

    I subscribed to do my own background check and also someone that I am interested in. I never received a background summary of my own background or of the person that I had in question. Was not happy with the response I got and cancelled my subscription. I can say they were very prompt about returning my money. Also they advertised that you would get a free trial for 30 days and that never took place. To me that is false advertising just to draw people in to check out the product they are selling.

    By far the worst company to use, I have tried to cancel with them three times now and they refuse to stop charging me which is now going to force me to cancel my debit card. They also charged me for service I did not ask for. The rep was so rude and then told me to prove that I had canceled the service. There is no way to do this as the system does not provide a cancellation number. So, as of right now I'm out over $100 for a service that should've been $29.

    They do release names, family members, the state and city. The report gives you information on the person that you want to locate/find. All you have to do is type in the name and the state if possible. This will give you better search results. The price that they charge is definitely a fair price in my opinion. I still think that they should change it up a little and lower the price for those who would think that it's too pricey. Based on the reviews and the results that I'd received from using their free service, I would definitely recommend them to others. I think that they'll be pleased with the results.

Provided me with information I was seeking along with rap sheet of felony convictions, jail time, etc. Report was customized to my specifics and provided a comprehensive profile of what this guy had been up to. Low price -- introductory special... $9.99 for what I was looking for. Had it customized to my specifics and was a fair price for the detail that I specified. I was able to obtain the information that I was seeking at a favorable cost. Had the option to pick a variety of specifics. It was extremely valuable to me.

    Gave me several names to identify, possible birth DATE, CITY AND ADDRESS MATCHES and let me decide who to look at. I could look at as many on a specific time period as I wanted for a fee. This gave me possible matches based on name, birth date as well as address and possible familial relations. This also included any arrests or legal actions taken on behalf of or against those individuals as well as any criminal charges. I spend about $20 and could look at as many listing as possible that I wanted in a 24 hour period with a detailed report I could print. For unlimited names and possible matches, it was a very good value and would recommend it to anyone who was interested in knowing general details, indication, any need for further investigation or more in-depth research.

    General background check was conducted on the person I was searching, however, it was a simple check with not too many details unless I were to pay a fortune for it. It was a general background check that consisted of criminal record history and schooling and family. It didn't give too much away and only provided your basic search parameters. Price was an issue because they wanted me to shell out a fortune and I don't have that kind of money lying around to pay for something that doesn't turn out right. The value was not up to par and provided little detail regarding what I was going to receive. With a little research online, I found what I was looking for for free.

    A extremely tough background check from tickets to felonies. This site has it. Our company uses this service and are very pleased with it. A printout sheet showing all of the individual's records are right in front of you. This enables us with the knowledge to either hire this person or not. The price is a little higher than most would charge but in the long run it is well worth it. I would use this service no matter what it cost. The value for this service speaks volume for itself.     They offer wide range of services that met our needs very well. I was able to get the information I needed about which service to use without too much trouble at all. I found that the report contained all of the relevant information that I needed to make my decision. It was clear and easy to understand. I would say that for what you get they are very competitively priced. We were happy to pay what we did and never felt like it was a bad decision to use them. The overall value is very good.     Utah's basic street addresses all have North, South, East, or West. PeopleFinders does not display any of them. None. Other search companies display them. When I called PeopleFinders, there was NO interest in looking into what I explained. I was told several times during the call that they display what they are given. I told the individual that the product was not of use to me then and that I would like a refund. I got the response of "No, per the terms of..." which I understood. But, I will say that I have found that the service is not interested in customer feedback. I do NOT recommend them at all as there are better options available.

    They miss-advertise "reliable/dependable" info! I found more accurate data searching local vital records. They do not: update data, provide limited data, and then charge a lot for lousy reports. They disclaim they cannot guarantee accuracy or how current info is and will not provide a refund for lame reports. If dissatisfied, a 2nd search free of charge is granted as courtesy, but didn't offer it when complaining to them, not that you would want one anyway. Further, they advertise upon purchase, a report will be emailed, then charge more to email it after the transaction. Charged $39.95 for a one-time report.
