I bought an item on eBay and everything is going fine but now everyday single days I'm receiving emails for promotions and coupons. I did turn off the communications in my account settings but it doesn't changed anything. Also they send email to notice me that I can track my package everyday but I couldn't because no tracking number - just the type of shipment. I had never use their services because I'm reluctant to buy online. Well I guess I've learn my lesson!

eBay shipping allows you to select FEDEX ground and that is the only service FEDEX offers for large items but when you try to use ground for a residential address (allowed by FEDEX for large items), it won't let you select it or home delivery. Why offer the service and then block it for use? I couldn't select any of the services! Customer service tells me the problem is a glitch in the eBay system and they can do nothing. The next week, I buy an item from the UK but the eBay checkout will not allow the purchase to be completed. I call support and they again tell me it is a problem with the eBay system but can do nothing then hangs up on me. Why have customer service if they can do nothing but apologize? eBay as a company is the worst!

Since Nov last year, seller will be paying for return shipping if buyer unilaterally decides that item received is "not as described." This is kind of over-protection for buyers, too subjective & vague (independent 3rd party highly recommended). Sometimes, the defects can be due to shipping.... In the past, buyer will cooperate with seller to file a claim with courier (awaiting physical inspection if required). eBay one way feedback has also triggered buyer to nail seller for a discount to avoid negative feedback. 90% of powersellers in my areas had left eBay & had been experimenting with etsy, ioffer, craigslist....... Hopefully, Alibaba in the nearest future.
As such, eBay has alienated themselves with most sellers who have been providing unique items on their shelves at great discounted prices. eBay has been laying off 2400-3000 employees this year. It has been a pity that a banker/financial controller (JD, CEO) has totally ruined this once-dynamic SALES web platform; now just waiting to be SOLD as 2 commodities (Paypal & eBay). What a shame! I sold an item and described "as is" which everyone knows that is selling it the way it is... Don't know if it works. Haven't used in years.. Super Nintendo. Customer request a refund and I didn't have Internet to respond so I called eBay and let them know I could not respond. Agent of eBay said it was okay that I don't need to respond. She stated that they would make a decision at the end. I then looked in my eBay account a few days later and said due to not responding eBay will refund money.. Really??!! After your eBay employee said I don't need to respond and I then get the hit.
I tried talking to eBay but no help. They told me customer keeps the item and also gets the full refund with shipping refund too. I tried talking to the buyer but no help. I feel as eBay is not following correct practices. I should at least get my items back if the customer says it's broken and eBay should help sellers. It's as if i was a store I would return item but I get the items back. Not buyer gets refund and item too!! Makes no sense... I would like someone to help me if possible. eBay is saying pay shipping but why should I when you took shipping cost away from me so it's like double shipping fee I'm paying??

I have been a loyal customer of eBay for many years. Some of the products like digital cameras, monitor and few ones that I purchased were defective and couldn't return it. So many dollars I've lost. My recent bad experience was an order I didn't receive. The local post office can't find the package nor claimed they receive it. Even the tracking # was provided. I always get my shipments through my mailing box and I'm the only one who has the key. The seller refused to work with me. eBay took down my bad reviews on the seller and sided with them. You would think after spending thousand of dollars on eBay for many years, a $10 transaction, they will take care of it. This is a very greedy corporation. Therefore, I decided to close my account.
I would highly recommend who purchase on eBay online is to think twice before purchasing. Yes, I thought ordering online would be a good idea since I don't have time to shop around on local stores. I'm an active buyer and looking back, I have lost more money trying to be cheeped by ordering online. My resolution is to purchase from the local stores. Even though it will cost more and inconvenient to drive around, it's worth the effort with a peace of mind. eBay had brought so much stress on me. Happy to exit. Btw, never purchase anything outside the US.

I've spent over 1500 dollars with eBay this past month & when a problem came up & I immediately contacted them. They had the worst customer service & were unhelpful to say the least. Long story short I never received an item that was nearly 300$, the site says they give 100% refund but that is not accurate. I'm out the whole 300$. I would have to agree with another reviewee that the IT group are very clever in making the site convoluted, confusing, circling, delaying and confusing. Which is probably why I had the issue to begin with. I would highly encourage buyers to stay away from eBay.

I listed an item on eBay and the purchaser falsely claimed the item was not described correctly and demanded, despite very clear notices in the posting, a refund. Despite my protests, eBay approved the purchaser's return and demanded I refund the purchase. When I attempted, as per eBay's own published and clearly stated policy, to appeal the decision, I was told I could not appeal and that I needed to refund the buyer. eBay then would not provide any way to even contact them, other than by telephone, to dispute their decision. So there is no apparent way to actually contact eBay in writing and my only recourse is to tell the collection agency that I dispute eBay's claim. Despite all eBay's claims to protect sellers, my experience is that they do absolutely nothing whatsoever to protect their sellers. I would highly recommend that folks find other ways to sell merchandise as eBay clearly does not care at all for its sellers.

I want to comment on a SELLER on eBay: **. She sold me a very expensive chess set that cost me $200.00. Her picture was very distant and only had one pic, but she listed that it had never been used and was in the original case, and I believed her. When I got it, it was missing two very important pieces, that I can't pick up anywhere else. I tried working with her. She refused to accept a return, with me paying for sending it back. She was very nasty about it. She contacted eBay and convinced them I shouldn't be able to return the item. WATCH OUT FOR THIS SELLER. Total SCAM!

Ebay has written into its rules that it is allowed to hold funds at its discretion which should not be allowed. Once an item is delivered the payment should go right to the seller. They are withholding millions of dollars with no consequences. Furthermore their customer service is rude and degrading to the customer. No answers or solutions just transfer to another "customer service" representative who will just transfer you again after being rude and belligerent.

Watch out for seller **! I ordered 30 white flowers and 48 red flowers. The delivery status was both packages were delivered on such and such date at such and such time (I signed for them), so it couldn't have been any other seller as they were the only ones I bought roses from at that time. They sent me 30 white in a box which was fine and like I ordered, but the second package was 48 like I ordered but WHITE. These flowers I needed for my bouquet for my wedding in 2 months time!!! When I tried to sort it out with them they gave me the runaround.
Told me they would send me the 48 red fake roses free of charge if I sent them pictures to prove that they were all white. Ok fine so I did. Then they told me to take more pictures to make sure the numbers were right. Ok fine did that. Then they asked me if I bought from another seller which at this point it's been a week/week and a half of this so I ordered a few red roses (50 red from one other seller and 12 red from another seller ) because I'm not going without flowers for my wedding. So I took some pictures of my orders and delivery times for all the rose orders I placed. Theirs were still the only ones I had received at that time and the dates/times of delivery matched up with their delivery dates as posted from the post office. Plus they were the only ones I ordered those amounts of each color (30 white and 48 red) and I received 30 white in a box and 48 white again in a bag.
Now I could understand if I ordered those amounts from someone else but I didn't. Anyways I sent them pictures to prove it and then they say they don't think the ones in the box are theirs (the ones in the box are the right amount and the right color. Its the ones in the bag that's the damn issue! Wtf!). Then they try to say they think they sent red ones. After all that… My multiple pictures proving I have not received one damn red flower from anyone yet, my pictures of delivery dates and who I bought what and how many from, and my waiting 2 weeks just to have NOTHING SORTED OUT YET!! At this point I gave up and told them to pretty much shove it where the sun don't shine. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!! The flowers are nice but they can't get a damn order right and won't do anything to fix the mistakes that they make!

I have not gotten five things that I bought and paid for and eBay will not help me get them. When I order these things I waited for them. When they never came I sent an e-mail and they, "Please wait a little longer". After a month e-mail them again. They said they were sorry but would resend. Well another month goes by still did not get them. I e-mail again they say, "Please wait". This goes on for 8 months. Never got them. I call eBay and what do they say? "SORRY it's been more than 30 days. We can't help you".
I bought a diamond ring which before I bought it I called ** the seller and asked if this would ever turn green. They said never but after a few months it did. I called the seller and told them. They said, "It should never have happened". But they send me a cleaning cloth that would fix it but it did not. I called them. They said, "Sorry". There's nothing they can do because it's been over 30 days. I called eBay and they said, "SORRY we can't help you. It's been over 30 days". So if you want something to last more than 30 days don't buy from eBay.

I'm truly unhappy about eBay, both as seller and as a buyer as well. As a seller, I'm not able to post negative feedback to a buyer who did not even pay for the item, which is a common procedure in any credit transactions, not to mention that it would also warn other sellers not to sell to them. As a buyer... eBay's customer service is handled mostly by Asians that many times are not that familiar with the English language, and nevertheless are allowed to make decisions on the so called "Customer's Support Satisfaction"... And that's what happened to me. The new eBay's seller, **, added $10.00 more than what was stipulated for S/H after the auction was over, which could never be allowed by eBay in the first place. I've contacted the seller about this, and was told that she made a mistake about the S/H charges, and I've courteously agreed to take a $6.16 refund, which she never did.
So the item arrived, and it was not at all "New" as advertised. It had many issues, so I've filed a return action on eBay... Apparently, the eBay's representative who decided in "my favor" had no knowledge at all of past and present verb tenses, and sent me the "good news" that the $6.16 refund was posted to my PayPal account and the case was closed. And all I wanted was to return the item! Then I've spent about one hour on the phone with eBay about this issue until I was finally told that the claim was closed, and there was nothing else that they could do about it! I've been buying more and more from Amazon, and never had any problems at all with it... No wonder eBay is losing more and more customers. Now I have to learn how to sell on the Amazon site.

I want to share this experience because I hope seller really think about their right before selling in eBay. I had almost 1000 positive rate, but I think I will not sell my product through eBay in future. The policy is not 50/50 to protect seller and buyer. Buyer refund my item which she described electronic hair remover has defect and overheat but actually I tested and make sure item properly before sell, and mention that item cannot be refunded because I always on business trip. Finally eBay still refund to her.
Alright, I had nothing to say, I was thinking maybe she doesn't like the product but I still keep for myself. After 10 days buyer said to returned product, but I still didn't receive. When I said to eBay item return not received, so I appealed. eBay decided not refund me final listing charge $38.06 because I didn't provide valid shipping address which actually I had and registered since almost 8 years ago.
Two days later after I appeal, I got the item back, so what does that means? eBay community group is not really to solving my problem, not solving problem individually to seller, it just reply typical answer to any seller to appeal. Very disappointed to eBay, my item $368 was damaged by buyer or someone, item cannot fixed anymore. Furthermore, I was charged almost $40 for final listing fee, that is ridiculous experience I've ever had.

eBay no longer holds sellers to it policies and are letting them get away with fraudulent advertising. According to the support operators they only investigate sellers if at least five complaints are lodged allowing the sellers to rip off buyers. They have changed their Money Back Guarantee. In small print it states "on virtually every item" and lets the seller decide the outcome and makes the buyer contact the seller, as well sellers can opt out of the Money Back Guarantee. Their new rules and regulations are ambiguous and they refuse to give out printable copies of them. Their support line operators are located in the Philippines and do not know what they are doing and cannot even answer the simplest of questions.
eBay is going down hill fast and I predict that they will soon be going out of business so sell your garbage fast before they do. eBay Inc. Headquarters 2065 Hamilton Avenue San Jose, California 95125 (800) 322-9266, (408) 376-7400, are unreachable. They do not respond to email and the telephone numbers are an endless loop recording. I have asked for contact information from their Customer Support Operators and am then redirected back to their Customer Support Line. Why are they hiding and what are they hiding from. If they do not get their act back together, PayPal will soon stop letting them use their service.
Recently to resolve a claim I had to contact PayPal and was told that their lines have recently been inundated by eBay customers who are left with no other options to get their money back since eBay will no longer file any complaints against its sellers. Amazon is now taking eBay's customers and will soon dominate the online sales business and good for them.

I purchased a phone on ebay which the post office claimed was delivered to my flat and signed for when no one was home. Since they have a signature they have settled in the seller's favour, even though it doesn't match mine. I didn't realize mobile phones could go missing in this day and age and the seller couldn't provide me with the IMEI number or any serial numbers. I am absolutely fuming and 250 down.
I reported it to the police and action fraud who can't do anything because they don't have the IMEI number. I also spoke to citizens advice who said I CANNOT MAKE A CLAIM AGAINST EBAY, I have to send a letter to the seller who I have no information on. This is absolutely ridiculous. All I can do is go to my bank to see if they can retract the payment. After more than 15 years with Ebay, I'm cancelling my account and will shout about my experience on every site I can as I don't want anyone else to experience this.

eBay failed to cover me with its eBay Seller Protection though I provided evidence to support the buyer filing a claim against me was in the wrong. I sold an AT&T Windows Tablet on eBay 04/14/15. The auction was listed as a refurbished tablet which was unlocked by AT&T so the purchaser could use it on whichever cellular service they so choose. My auction specifically stated "NO RETURNS" as well as "I will provide you unlock instructions after payment is received." Which I clearly did. Since the customer does not speak English, they did not understand the unlock instructions and opened a claim against me May 19th, over 30 days after the sale (that's not even allowed in retail stores!), claiming that the device was not unlocked.
I attached clear and convincing evidence STRAIGHT from AT&T's website where you can check the unlock status of your device which shows the item IS, in fact, unlocked. I also attached information regarding the warranty showing that if there was anything wrong with the device itself, the buyer needed to contact SquareTrade as there was nothing wrong with it when it was shipped to the buyer. I highlighted on several points, including how the buyer kept changing their story. On May 19th, the buyer told me that he was traveling to Africa. On May 22nd, the buyer told me that he was going to be shipping the device to Africa. I noted that I was worried this was a scam as the buyer could not keep his story straight.
I attached screenshots to eBay showing that I contacted AT&T and had an 11 minute conversation on May 18th with AT&T at 8:55AM to confirm, yet again, that the device was in fact unlocked. I also went OUT OF MY WAY to travel to the AT&T store to provide my ID to the AT&T customer service representatives to prove that the item was unlocked. Again, the rep confirmed the item was in fact unlocked. I called eBay explaining that I've never had any issues since 2008, and I'm concerned that this buyer will tarnish my perfect reputation with a scam. I asked the eBay rep to review the information, and he told me that he felt - due to the information that I had attached - that I would win the case.
I received an update to eBay, after all of this evidence showing the item was sold as described and that it was, in fact, unlocked... and eBay notified me that they sided in favor of the buyer. When I called eBay's customer service to ask for an explanation they said because the device was locked. I told the rep that was untrue and stated to them "So you clearly ignore the images that I attached SHOWING you that the device is UNLOCKED." And eBay forced me to take the item back and refund the buyer $285. Where is my protection as a seller? I took a video of me receiving the tablet back from the buyer, **. It shows me opening the box for the first time and shows the item in perfect working condition. One thing, though... he didn't transfer the warranty back to my name - which was part of the auction.
If I sold you the warranty, then when you make a return... you need to transfer it back. I included images of emails where I notified the seller that he did not send me my warranty back... as well as his response denying he has it... and proof, from SquareTrade, that the warranty is in fact in his name. I also included images of the item as I turned it on - showing it is working - as well as an image of the back of the item proving the IMEI number is the correct number used in the screenshot of the AT&T website where the status shows the item as unlocked.
I also wanted to add that I contacted eBay, as I was instructed to do once I received the item back, to file an appeal... and they will not let me. I notified the woman that it was not right that eBay automatically refunds the buyer money as soon as the shipping status says "DELIVERED" without actually checking to make sure the seller received their item back. The buyer could have easily sent me back an empty box and they wouldn't have cared, and she told me this. She said they do not cover that. She also told me that they don't care if I attach images or video as evidence... so I asked her why even bother having the upload button to provide proof?
Something is seriously wrong with the eBay policy, and they need to fix it. Why is the seller, who clearly lied, protected... but the buyer, who has a squeaky clean reputation since 2008 with 0 negative feedback, not? I sincerely hope that eBay will resolve my personal issue, as well as the issues with their policy. I definitely will rethink using them again in the future, and will make sure all of my friends and family know just how horrible their "protection" is.

I paid out of pocket $500 to have the engine and transmission shipped back to me. The engine and transmission arrive and it is not the ones I sold but rather a old beat up junk yard engine and transmission.
I contact eBay at once and they tell me "sorry there is nothing we can or will do." eBay went into my PayPal account and refunded this buyer and now I am out almost $4,000. Hi, I have been a seller on Ebay for 4+ years. This started out as a beautiful business venture for me in the beginning but has turned into a nightmare in the past year. Ebay is controlling our visibility, big time. I used to sell $1,500.00 to $3,0000.00 per month, now I definitely am being controlled by their new visibility mechanism, software, etc. They have levels for everything. Why should I be charged the same as someone who they decides deserves more visibility.
This should be against the law, plus they charge a high percentage on the customers shipping money even when I do not abuse what I charge. Also very rarely do they stand by their seller who provides the product. TOTALLY DISGUSTING!!! I am just waiting for the day they are under fair scrutiny or just go out of business because of their greed. It might be working for them now, but I highly believe it will catch up with them in the end.

I purchased a HTC Flyer P510e tablet on 5 May 2015. By 11 May, we had already observed and reported software problems to the seller with the intention of returning the item. I had already contacted HTC Corporation by this date, who assured me that there was nothing they could do. While awaiting for eBay to resolve the return request, we received a system update & the tablet started functioning in as normal of a manner as would be expected. After observing the tablet's stability for a couple of days, I closed the return request on 15 May. Around 18 May, another update was provided by HTC at which point I updated & the tablet crashed; never to start again.
After trying to resolve this new found problem with HTC from that day till 27 May, they say that: 1) Tablet sold to me is considered a refurbished unit (though seller claims it was new & sealed), hence cannot warranty; and 2) Item is very old model & beyond warranty date, hence cannot touch it. So, I relayed this information to eBay who tell me that, "Since you closed the case, we cannot do anything for you now. Try to dispute the transaction with PayPal". Since I seem to be having trouble creating a transaction dispute at PayPal regarding this transaction, I decide it may be easier to call them.
After a long story, they tell me that I need to go through eBay because 'they are tied together'. I asked eBay, "Where in your documentation does it show that if a customer is within their return claim dates, that they cannot open a return request that was previously closed?". No concise answer, just, "We are sorry, cannot do anything more for you"....which I see as, "You are SOL sir!". So, buyer is not always right - be warned.

I've been an eBay member since 2004 and has a 100% positive ratings with over 500 transactions. I use eBay in buying goods and selling authentic designer items. I sold a brand new, authentic Chanel jumbo caviar for $5500 but the buyer decided to return it, saying he went to Chanel store and was told it's a fake. I am 1 million percent sure it is authentic. Unfortunately, I don't have the receipt.
I agreed to take it back if he could prove it was a fake but he did not present evidence that he had it authenticated. I, on the other hand, paid and asked a respected authorized Chanel authenticator online to authenticate. And they did confirm its authenticity and forwarded the findings to the buyer and eBay. I decided to refuse the return since I am not sure if I will get my bag back in the same brand new condition as when I shipped it out or it might arrive damaged. My listing also says "No returns accepted" though I would take it back if proven it's not as described.
When I called eBay to look into it, they just said they will automatically decide in the buyer's favor without even hearing my side and that I must pay for the return label! And if I don't do so, they will refund the buyer against my will and let him keep the bag! The agent said that since the company (Chanel) doesn't authenticate (exactly my point, that's why I know the buyer was lying when he said he went to Chanel), they have no way to validate my claim and eBay does not recognize third party authenticators.
So now I have to pay for the return's shipping label aside from the $100 that I already paid when I shipped it to the buyer. I'm not even sure if I will get my bag back or not and if it is still in the same brand new condition. I am really disgusted with the way eBay made me feel. It seems that I don't have a right at all as a seller even with the proofs I presented. They wouldn't even review the case even though it is a high value transaction. I will respect the decision if I know it is a fair game and they analyze the situation properly before making a judgment. But they just told me that I should not have let the agent escalated my case because it will be automatically in the buyer's favor. What kind of reasoning is that?! Why did they give an option that they will step in and review the case if no action exists? I wish I could sue them to make them change their ways in dealing with complaints.

This is my second time trying to resolve an escalated problem escalated to an American associate by a very professional Indo-Asian associate. My fellow American citizen seems more concerned with her own ego than in solving the problem. Her passive aggression was palpable. If I was permitted to record the conversation it would be apparent to any supervisor that she relished every moment of being snarky and obnoxious. ** wouldn't provide any identification and when I asked to record the remaining conversation she instructed me not to or she would immediate the call already lasting twenty five minutes. I complied and did not capture her very insulting, condescending conversation. She stopped short of using foul language, but I would actually have preferred profanity to her non constructive and dismissive attitude. After more than 45 minutes on the phone nothing was resolved on this case.
"You've reached a temporary buying restriction. It looks like you're unable to purchase this item at this time. To help prevent unpaid items, we restrict the number of auctions where a buyer is the highest bidder. If you're outbid on one of your auctions, you'll be able to bid on this or other items. Alternately, to purchase this or other items, click the Add to cart or Buy It Now button in the listing, and pay for your item". Example of snarky. I felt I needed to let Ms. ** know I was a long time customer with 400+ 100% positive feedback rating (why she could not see this on her end was a mystery to me). When I misspoke saying customer since 1979 instead of 1999 she immediately accused me of lying and trying to misrepresent myself. She retorted, "We haven't been in business since 1979". We'll excuse me, Ms. **, I was born in 1957 and I make errors. I know that the internet wasn't popularized until the mid 1990s.
Still my question remained unanswered. ** seems more concerned with her personal ego and maintaining her anonymity. You folks really should monitor some of your associates. They couldn't do a better job of frustrating your customers. I will post my experience to as many blogs and websites as I can find. Not that it would do any good. I might as well be complaining about Google, Facebook or Twitter. I sure do wish now that there was a marketplace alternative to eBay. In the 1 month time I've been buying on EBay I've had 2 products, one damaged when received and not what was explained in description, the other never delivered or received a tracking number after told product shipped and would send me tracking number but won't contact me back about either. It seems if you get too good of a deal seller doesn't have to send product if they wish not to. No wonder Walmart strives so well. If not happy you do get your money back. EBay sides with the sellers so much to keep that money that they will always side with them. The seller even threatened and told me they would just because of this. He was right. Total of just shy of $300 and so far eBay refused money return on damaged product and nothing done after going on 3 weeks of no product. The businessmen are the crooks it seems to be.
I've had better luck on craigslist with the public than eBay. I'm probably definitely done with eBay. Like other poster said just recently they are greedy and really only out for their sellers. So beware and definitely only deal with established excellent rating sellers if you do go that route. With a ton a sales, 10,000 or more. I'm not even the type to express my dissatisfaction this way and it takes a lot for me to take the time to even do this but that is how upset I am with my eBay experience.

I sold a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses on eBay and delivered to buyer. After he received them, he claims there were scratches on the lens and offer me $40 less than he paid. I told him I would meet him in the middle of the offer. He then ordered me $10 more. I wouldn't except so he got angry and said he would return them and I would have to pay for return shipment. The glasses did not have scratches when I shipped them and had pictures on my listing that even eBay said they looked good. The thing is this, the buyer is a big seller on eBay, selling Maui Jim sunglasses. He wanted me to come down so he could resale at a larger profit. eBay sided with him on the case even though they tell me everything I told them made sense and they agreed with me. This is very unfair and I believe all of us who are here complaining should file a class action suit against eBay for their unfair decisions when it comes to claims.
If you are a small time seller or buyer, eBay rules against you even if they agree with you. I am so very angry. I will never use eBay again and will tell my story to everyone who uses eBay. Let's file a class action suit. Anyone up for it?

I sold an item on April 14th and shipped it that same day. On April 19th, the buyer filed a claim that the item wasn't received (which was way early to do). The item was CONFIRMED DELIVERED on April 20th. On May 19th, I noticed the buyer hadn't closed the claim and called eBay and asked what to do as the buyer was not closing the claim he or she filed. I was told to initiate the case to close and "that they would review all the facts and make a decision." That was untrue. NO ONE REVIEWED THE FACTS and eBay immediately issued a refund to the buyer. When I called in to discuss this, I was repeatedly told "the SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY closed the case." WOW. So in other words, eBay essentially communicated to this buyer that all he or she needs to to do is file a claim that an item isn't received (even if the item isn't late), and even if the item arrives, do nothing and receive a full refund!
The other message is that a HUMAN will NOT review the facts but rather a computer program command will automatically refund a fraudulent buyer. I'd read all the warnings from spurned sellers and hoped and prayed my store wouldn't be scammed. eBay CSRs will come up with all kinds of excuses but the truth is when shopping on other retail sites like Macy's, I cannot contact them, say the item didn't arrive when it did, and receive an immediate refund. I cannot tell them the item arrived damaged, and not prove it and receive a full refund. I cannot order the wrong size, blame them, keep the item and receive a full refund. NOPE, you can only get away with it on eBay. Worse, eBay disallows sellers from leaving BAD BUYERS BAD FEEDBACK. eBay has created a website that has attracted thieves and scammers by making it very easy for them to steal from honest sellers (who pay good money to sell).
I will NOT include an item number with this review so my remaining items will not turn up in search results. I learned today that eBay is NOT AN HONEST COMPANY. I paid good money to sell my remaining items and have clearly lost enough.

I am a seller on Ebay. I sold a sterling silver ring with pave crystals. The day the item was sold the buyer messaged me she would be sending back the ring because it was costume jewelry. I told her the engraved 925 inside the ring means sterling. No, she told me nothing in there. I offered to send the matching sterling necklace free. No she wanted a refund. I then said when I get the ring back I will fully refund. Her response was "okie dokie!!" Within 3 days she opened up a case with Ebay. Of course they sent her an immediate refund. They emailed me that THEY Ebay did this and I was NOT responsible and owed nothing.
Meanwhile I never received my ring back. Paypal had put a hold on my money and it never was credited back to me. This all happened around April 25th. After calling eBay 6 times and Paypal no one can help. I now have what says $35 not received on my selling page. All of my transactions have been completed. NO one has helped me as to where my missing funds are; and, why ebay didn't release my money from ring to my Paypal.
I am befuddled as to how large companies get away with kind of behavior unconceived. If I tried to pull off some of these shenanigans, I'd be put out of business. One last thing they charge final value fees on my shipping costs. That seems illegal to me. Customer service is such a joke. Signing off now.

eBay continues to allow sellers to list items marked as new, but when you get them they are used. There is always an excuse by the sellers as well. Sellers claim they opened the package to find out if the item works, but this is a lie. I have bought a Wii U controller and the listing says it is new with batteries included. But, when I got the item the box was clearly opened at the top and didn't include batteries. The seller had a lot of complaints and constantly blames the buyer. Also, eBay knew that this seller had complaints about items listed as new, but the items were used or broke. The seller had a 99% positive rating which is clearly a lie because of the complaints listed.
Another issue is that I just bought last week a new Wii U game and it was marked as sealed, but I received it today and it is opened and used. The listing said it was brand new and shrink wrapped. The user had a 98% positive rating, but again this is a lie because the seller has lots of complaints. I tried to contact eBay to file a complaint against eBay, but there is no online form. Since this is the second time this month that I have had issues with an item. As a result, I am filing a complaint with the Senator's office in California.
eBay already has a class action lawsuit against seller fees and sellers who send the item, but the buyer says they never received it and keep the item without any penalties. eBay is nothing more than a trashy flea market just like those seen in run down towns where junk is sold. It is below a flea market.

Prizelogic was first contacting me within reasonable time trying to find excuses of why I do not qualify, but as soon as I sent the screenshots, they have ignored me. eBay acts like it's all Prizelogic handling this and not them, so when I call them they hand me down to about 20 different agents and I've repeated this story, seriously, like 40 times! eBay plays dumb and Prizelogic silent.
This promo ends on Monday (5/25/15) and they think I'm gonna let it go so they can tell me, "sorry promo over, nothing we can do." But no. I want my promo. Why can't they make it right?!!! I even asked to speak to a supervisor but the phone agents won't do it. Why the heck are they playing these games? 2 years ago they put a hold on my account for $3.00, so I'm gonna fight this till they make it right! My phone says I have made 7 calls to eBay all ranging from 35 mins to 1 hour. I have spent just about a full work day and they haven't called me back, or emailed me. eBay, grow a pair, give me what's mine so you can go back making millions of dollars a day... 5 dollars and a chance at another prize may bankrupt you. We have been selling on eBay since 2004, have maintained a 100% positive feedback rating for years and life was good for us and our customers. Then early this year eBay didn't think 100% happy customers were enough to rate a seller's performance. They decided to create an automated seller rating score engine that measured how a seller was performing based on things like entering UPS tracking number on the eBay sale record, no returns or canceled order, even if it was request by customer, any customer calling in or writing eBay about a sale automatically counted against the seller's performance, even if everything was ok. Thus the "New Seller Performance Level" was created.
We were a top performer for many years while business was booming. We sold 100+ units a month and all was good. Then over the last couple months sales dropped dramatically to only a couple dozen units, so any issue related to a transaction took on a higher percentage of sales. If we sell 100 units and have 2 issues, this isn't a perfect world, our rating wasn't affected, since 98% of our sales were good, only 2% had issues. Now with only 10 sales over the last month, having 2 issues with the units, caused our issue percent to jump to 20% of sales, so even with 100% positive feedback, all customers happy, we get slapped in the face by eBay by them giving us a "Below Standard" seller rating.
They immediately limited the number of listings we could have, they withheld the funds of the items we did sell for 21 days before releasing them to us, at the same the customer having paid for the item didn't know why we didn't ship the topper when their payment was completed. Who ships a $200 product before receiving the money. To add insult to injury, #eBay was demanding payment of their fees. Our family run business cash flow literally came to screeching halt. Numerous calls to eBay pleading for them to allow us to sell our items and release the funds from our previous sales were denied since the Performance Score determined by the computer program had our account limited and flagged our funds to be held for 21 days, because we had a Below Standard score.
We only sell memory foam toppers, they are very simple slabs of memory foam that customers use to sleep better at night. All our feedback from customers say how much they love our product and service. You may ask, why not provide eBay with UPS tracking number like they requested, well the moment I print a UPS label with Worldship and close End-of-Day, all tracking information is automatically emailed to my customer. They are the ones that need the information, not eBay.
I will use this forum to provide updates as to what eBay's response and actions will be going forward. Will they drive us out of business, since we have all our eggs in one basket, eBay's and PayPal basket. Or will they decide that the customer is the one that should rate a seller's performance based on the service and product quality, not some analytics report based on eBay seller activity or lack of. I realize that this post only recommends 800 words but as you may guess my wife and I are very upset with eBay's new performance scoring engine. If others have felt the same "heavy hand" of eBay/PayPal enforcer, please leave your comments.
Thanks for reading and I hope that through the power of the internet we can let #eBay know that, what is important, is customer satisfaction and product quality and service, not eBay satisfaction. They are only there to service the sellers and customers, they are not here to dictate how our business should be conducted. If I wanted to be told how to do business I would get a job with a company, this is a free world and this is what free enterprise is all about. eBay members vote with their feedback, it is unfair to have customers telling eBay on one hand that they are 100% happy customers and then on the other hand have eBay rate you as Below Standard. I have attached a picture below of our only product offering. We are very close to being out of business, thanks to eBay's callus and non-personal evaluation of sellers.

I'm a seller on eBay and I have 100% feedback and I've worked very hard to maintain that record because any little ding and eBay deducts points… About a week ago I had a Buyer with a 100% feedback purchase 2 items from me and refuse to pay $160. I notified eBay and filed a claim and nothing was done to help me the seller. I saw in this person's account that 2 other sellers complained of the same thing... NON PAYMENT.
I contacted both of them after talking to eBay and they told me eBay did nothing to help them recoup their money. eBay said they would take it to management and fix it immediately and a week later and nothing has been done, he still maintains a 100% feedback and I still don't have my money for the auctions I held on eBay. eBay DID NOT REACH INTO HIS PAYPAL ACCOUNT AND TAKE MY MONEY FOR ME THE SELLER, LIKE THEY DO TO ME WHEN THEY WANT TO PAY THEMSELVES!!! Please read on…
A couple days ago eBay went into my PayPal account and just took money without my knowledge or permission and I did not have an auto transfer set up with them, I purposely cancelled it over a year ago. Yet "somehow" because they own PayPal, eBay was able to just reach into my PayPal Account and TAKE $59 from a sale that just took place for $108, leaving me with $49 in my account. I called PayPal and eBay about the $59 and they did nothing to help me. They said I owed eBay fees. I said I was planning to pay them on May 1st when I get paid, yet they just helped themselves to money that was NOT allotted for them.
Knowing I was getting nowhere and that I had a package to ship and a water bill to pay, I tried to transfer the remaining 49 into my bank account on April 27th. When the $49 didn't arrive in my account I looked at PayPal again and saw that the money had been "REVERSED", stating transfer problems. So on 4/28 I tried it again and AGAIN it was "REVERSED" back to PayPal. In further checking I see that today 4/29 my customer has filed a dispute for "Non Shipment". I told eBay this was going to happen, the money they took was for shipping and my water bill!!!
eBay did nothing to help me the seller yet when the buyer says he didn't get the package eBay went into my account again and pulled my last $49 that they have been blocking from my transfer to my bank for two days now, 4/27 and 4/28. And the claim didn't happen until 4/29. Why did eBay block my transfer for two days??? I could have had this package sent and my water bill paid by now and there wouldn't be a problem.
eBay caused the problem and now they are blaming me, and ruining my sale record with my customers, and on top of this my water was shut off this morning and I don't get paid until May 1st. I called PayPal, they transferred me to eBay. I talked to 2 people at eBay and nothing to help me the seller! They told me I could do a chargeback from my bank for the money eBay took but then they would… get this… suspend me from eBay. Are you ** me!!! So I'm left without water until May 1st and my customer doesn't have his package and I'm $80 in the RED with PayPal due to the non shipping claim. eBay RUINS LIVES and doesn't give a CRAP!!

I don't want to turn readers away by sounding like some extremist, giving the impression I'm someone who might be angry for no reason, but I am as upset as I've ever been in my life, & I believe it's for perfectly legitimate reasons. eBay's new seller standards are grossly unjust, either poorly or dishonestly considered, & negligent in their destruction of people's lives. In short, what eBay is doing is SICK. I've invested 20 years in learning this business, w/ no warning that eBay would turn on me as a seller the way they have, & rate my performance as 'below standard', because I did NICE things for my customers, like cancel a couple deals w/ people who said they "hit the wrong button", &/or because of USPS/customs issues I have NO CONTROL over whatsoever.
I have practiced 100% honesty since the year 2000, always refunding all shipping costs if an item was not 'as described', or was damaged in transit, & I did this for about 12 years before it became required practice. I even once mailed an item I'd sold for $1.99, despite having learned subsequent to sale that it was worth $1400, because THAT'S honest, & was supposed to be part of the fun of "The World's Largest Garage Sale". Now, eBay thanks me for my years BUILDING THEIR SITE W/ MY EXCELLENT SERVICE, by making it impossible for anyone not drop-shipping brand new items to have a good seller rating, no matter how great their feedback, or how honestly they run their business???
I am a 40 year old man who hadn't wept in 30 years, but lately I've done a great deal of it. My family has been financially devastated by limits on our account, & eBay holding payments for up to three weeks - including shipping, meaning we have to front those costs!!?? Even though NO CUSTOMER OF MINE HAS EVER LOST $1 W/O RECEIVING THE ITEM DESCRIBED/PICTURED IN THE LISTING! And I just keep on getting dinged w/ more & more strikes that have nothing to do w/ my actions. I hope eBay goes out of business entirely, & that every employee who supports their sick new policy loses as much as I, & many other honest sellers are.
It became clear how much contempt eBay has for the sellers who built their site, when they took away our ability to leave anything but meaningless fluff for feedback for buyers, & that contempt became jaw dropping when they applied their idiotic return policies & invited buyer fraud... but I'll repeat- what they've done now is SICK, & NEGLIGENT, & although I never have, & never thought I would sue anyone in my life, I'm seeking every avenue I can to sue eBay for every dishonest, rotten dime they've ever made.

I have been using eBay since 2002. I sell a few things here and there, but have bought on eBay quite often. I started having problems with selling at the end of 2013. A buyer, I know, was trying to scam me. First, they make me a low offer on an item for sale that comes with free economy shipping. I accept it as I have been unable to work since 2013 and need the money. Then, after I accept the offer, they tell me they need it sent expedited shipping to have it for Christmas. I thought about cancelling the transaction because between expedited shipping and eBay and PayPal fees, I wasn't really getting any money, and I had a bad feeling about the transaction. A legitimate buyer would ask for these things before making a low offer, not demanding it after. Unfortunately, I went ahead with the order and sent it to them with priority shipping trying to please the customer.
Then, I get a message from eBay stating that a buyer had opened a case against me stating the item was not as described. They claimed one of the pieces was broken. First, the item was not broken when I shipped it. It had insurance through the shipping carrier. The buyer never tried to contact me, just automatically disputed it with eBay. The buyer said the item was a worthless piece of junk and other trash talk about how awful it was. Through the Resolution Center I offered the buyer a full refund once the item was returned to me. The buyer said no they wanted to keep the item to give them a partial refund. I was already just breaking even on it thanks to the upgrade in shipping and losing if you considered my original cost when I bought it new and never used it. I ended up offering them a partial refund, but Paypal defaulted to a closed card instead of the one I had been actively using.
In the end, PayPal paid the buyer a full refund for "their" trouble, and did not charge me due to the mix up on my account. This was my first known encounter with a scammer buyer. In the end, it still cost me days of stress, worry, and hours on the phone trying to resolve all of it. Since then, I have fell prey to more of these buyers that make low offers and then hold you over the fire to use more expensive shipping out of my pocket. I am currently dealing with another scammer buyer and will post my horrendous experience with this as soon as the case is closed. eBay policies are encouraging buyers to rip off sellers. Especially those of us selling off things we own to make ends meet and are already struggling financially and have enough stress in our lives without falling prey to these scams and eBay's protection to them.

I don't condone this behavior because I think it is illegal and immoral. But here is how the ebay buyer protection policy could help crooked buyers: Free rental of just about anything on ebay. Let's say a crooked buyer needs to rent something (tool, projector, or camera for his upcoming trip or whatever). All the crooked buyer has to do is buy the thing on ebay, use it and then file a claim saying item not as described. Ebay will side with the buyer. Buyer will get all his money back and the seller is screwed. How do you like a new camera for your next underwater trip!
Outright theft of the mechanize: Let's say the crooked buyer needs to replace a broken something (camera, lens, memory in his computer or replace the graphics card, whatever). All the crooked buyer has to do is buy the thing on ebay, swap with the broken item then file a claim saying item not as described. Ebay will side with the buyer. Buyer will get all his money back and the seller is screwed. On top of that the seller has to pay for the return shipment. Not to mention that ebay will collect all the ebay fees regardless.

And they have such a complicated return policy unlike Jabong, Myntra, Yebhi, Freecultr, zovi, flipkart, amazon, snapdeal and new site like feero fashion. Ebay is a joke. With their partner PayPal you will pay a 12% fee on what you're selling. They place a bunch of rubbish about buyer and seller protection. In other words making you pay for their policies. Further to this, they make you wait up to a month to get funds released for items sold. Alternatively you need to wait 3 days after goods have been delivered, then wait a further 3-5 business days to get funds from PayPal to your bank. For a business this may be ok. But for an Average Joe like me trying to sell some gear I don't use at home it's ridiculous.
The overall fee on goods selling (not listing) is great for Asian factories that list 40 x $5 iPhone cases for free. It floods the website with cheap crap nobody wants. For a non-business user, this attracts high fees, a bad experience and the worst offshore customer support, i.e 'I'm not happy'. Response 'sir, thank you, unfortunately eBay policy is blah blah standard answer rubbish'. I hope these policies stop people from using eBay and allow other services to come through. Ebay do not deserve your money. I don't see them charging a 6% buyer's premium and holding the product until I'm happy the correct person has received it.

I explained that I had already paid someone to put it up and would have to pay to take it down again and then put it up again! I wanted a refund to try to find a new light unit part for the (which was about the same price as the fan) so as to not have to take it down again. No… she wanted the full fan back! I sent her pictures of the defective part and let her know of my displeasure with her customer service skills.
Here is where the craziness went on. Called eBay to be told they could not help out on the situation for a week by what turned out to be a girl in Asia who said she was the top of the decision chain. Their customer service center is out of Asia! She stuck to policy and promptly disconnected me. Ok, as this saga went on finally the seller agreed to refund my money but made sure to let me know that I was a "unethical buyer"! I went online to read that many of these fans were indeed missing the chain and had been discontinued. I was livid at this point but said at least now I can try to find the part and fix the fan that was up.
After this bad experience with E Bay I decided to cancel my account with them and never do business with a company that "had policy" on everything except giving good quality customer service. A company is only as good as who they are and back up their buyers but in this case they are more interested in the fees they earn from sellers. OK done. Called to try to cancel my account and now was told that "policy" I had to wait a month to cancel it out even though there was no balance! Absolute insanity and would not recommend anyone ordering anything from them or selling with them ever again.

When a buyer clicks "Buy" this item, Ebay marks it as sold even though the buyer doesn't pay for it. Then you go through the arduous process of trying to get the "buyer" to actually pay for the item. Meanwhile Ebay makes sure to charge you a 10% seller's fee. Does any other marketplace in the world take an item off the shelf and mark it "sold" without collecting the money for it? This leaves a big hole for the scammer "buyer" to effectively take your product off the market while you wait for 10 days for Ebay to maybe close the case and let you relist it - just to go through the same crap all over again. The "Buyer" is permitted to mark the item as "Paid" even though no payment has been made. THIS IS WRONG! The buyer then goes on to say that the items she bought were not as described and questioned the integrity of my sale. I replied promptly, stating, All items are as described. All items were cleaned and tested prior to shipping. The items, or your console may have dust, debris, or residue from shipment. I gave constructive advice on cleaning methods and again stated that the items were indeed, used and in the condition I described.
The buyer replied haughtily that they were not thinking of returning the items (because they were as described and worked as described) she stated she was not going to return them but may just do that. Out of spite, a retaliatory attack a lot of sellers have come across. I replied stating what she was proposing was extortion and is a punishable offense under PA law. Even though I had verification emails from eBay saying when I put in the cancel request and the return emails from the seller saying they wouldn't cancel it, eBay lied and said I never did anything. Ebay goes ahead to send me a eBay account warning - policy violation: Reference to an Investigation = warning. Even though I was the victim. Spoke with a very rude customer service agent named **, who I had to remind to take her tone down to resolve the issue. She was explaining stuff she could not see on the screen, had to tell her where to check. Ebay is a NO, NO.
Their platform has become so big they are customer No service and have deceptive practices. ** says my violation was that I mentioned I had to open a case for a resolution. Why is that wrong? It was the truth. EBAY = deception = CUSTOMER NO SERVICE!!! We need a replacement.

Buyer purchased a pair of boots. 11 days later, after having worn boots once, buyer realized boots have no insoles, so buyer contacted seller, who would not accept a return, but offered to send insoles of another brand, or give a $10 credit. Buyer refused, and opened a case, because buyer did not want insoles of another brand, or a credit. Boots were listed in "like-new" condition. Seller claimed buyer had "buyer's remorse," or wore them in the rain. Buyer posted pics in the dispute resolution center, showing that the boots were in the same condition as when received, and pics showing they had no insoles. EBay sided with seller, and buyer is now left holding the bag. This buyer will be closing down their eBay account, and not doing business with eBay again, either as a buyer, or a seller.

The item was sold and buyer paid and item was shipped, however the first buyer then also paid so he was refunded straight away.. Ebay then charged me 10% for each sale of the item. Won't use them again and if you look now on ebay UK, you'll find most items are from China so most UK sellers are fed up getting ripped off.

It all started in 2010. I had posted "free ads" as a trial to see how eBay works. I buy and sell restaurant items so I thought I would give them a try. For years I would go on eBay looking for items and every time I would try to sign in there would be a problem. If ever anyone has called eBay before they would know they switch you from one extension to another extension each time asking you the same questions you answered to the last 5 extensions and never getting an answer until you finally get so mad you hang up!!
After five years I was determined to get things settled once and for all. After three long days of being on the phone and repeating my information and telling my story, going through month after month year after year they FINALLY admitted that there was a problem (OH REALLY). It is the bookkeeping at eBay and the fact that they just passing the buck!
So they said there is a balance of $148.21. I explained that I have NO bill. You would think that in 5 years that I would received a email or written bill from eBay stating I did owe that money! They do have my correct email and address. Also they did have the wrong information on my file such as phone numbers etc. Each time I made the change they asked me to it still went back to the wrong one. Long story short they said because of how eBay system is set up I would have to send payment and within 24 hrs they would reinstate my eBay account and refund my payment back.
At first I asked if they would send me money and I would refund it in 24 hours? OF COURSE THEY REPLIED "NO!" Then I said I wouldn't either unless they would send me a email stating I would send payment and they would refund my account within 24 hrs along with a follow-up phone call from badge #** ** letting me know they had refunded my account!
Of course in eBay fashion they didn't follow through what they promised. So I called again hours later they told me they couldn't refund the $148.21. THEY LIED AGAIN! I have the email to back it up! So I pledge to LET EVERYONE KNOW JUST HOW EBAY IS A SCAM AND NOT TRUTHFUL!! For a major company they treat customers with disrespect and should be made to back up their promises. That is why they have a very poor rating. Out of a 1442 reviews 1401 are complaints, now 1402!! NICE JOB EBAY YOU SHOULD BE SO PROUD! YOU SHOULD TAKE A PAGE OUT OF AMAZON'S CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICY. AMAZON TRULY MAKES SURE THAT THE CUSTOMER IS HAPPY!! AMAZON KNOWS HOW TO RUN A COMPANY IN A TIMELY MANNER!!

So seller only promised to pay C$2.00 to ship and promised me they would refund me when I sent the shipping receipt by email to them. I went to ship it using USPS with $2.32 on 02/20/2015 and USPS told me they delivered it on 02/024/2015. I stayed on the phone for over 2 hours talking to MULTIPLE customer service representatives. ALL OF THEM HAVE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. Ebay immediately took down all of my listings and took off my seller's dashboard which lists sales etc. I have called Ebay requesting an explanation and was told "due to Security reasons they could NOT tell me why my account was suspended" or I am "below the standard of the Ebay family".
I am NOT a big business... just an individual. My sales are approximately 1800-2500 a month. I seek shoes and mail the shoes from Mexico. The only reason I can think of that they have shut down my account is because I am shipping from Mexico. However I have never had a package lost (slow in a couple of instances due to US Customs) but never lost and never a Negative review.

This week I received numerous dark and deeply abusive messages into my family inbox sent from the eBay servers to me from another user. These were really very threatening and deeply explicit and I am only thankful that no child ever got to see them. I attempted to report this abuse but in order to do so, we have to tell the system why we need to make contact. Once that was done, all means of reporting this disgusting material was blocked and all links to report this subject greyed out.
Eventually I managed to obtain a PIN number to call them by asking the system to provide answers to a complete innocent question and only then was the contact us link highlighted. It was clear that the ebay staff I spoke to had no intentions of doing anything whatsoever to stop this type of offensive material or even to take note of the ebay user who issued these messages. They simply disconnected the call and no further PIN number to telephone back was issued. We should all be concerned now at how this company is operating and regulated.
There is no law enforcement at all. Why are the authorities now so reluctant to prosecute and investigate this organisation when so many people are dissatisfied? This would never be allowed to happen with any other company but it seems that ebay has no authority regulation whatsoever. Had a child seen these messages it would have been deeply distressing and frightening given their content, and it is yet another indication that this is a website to be very wary of and to avoid joining while there are other methods of buying and selling goods. If they cannot regulate the content of their site either with what is being sold or in the messages they send through to families, then in my opinion their trading license should be revoked until a full outside investigation is made by law enforcement officers.

I had to contact the buyer and let him know that I could not sell to them and it was not my fault. I was told there was a glitch that allowed them to bid on my item. He was extremely unhappy. No one at eBay seemed to know why this international sale was allowed to happen.
The next problem came when I received an email that my account had been suspended. It was due to a baby monitor that had been recalled. I was contacted when I first listed it and the listing had been removed. I was told that when I got the repair part I could relist it. After checking I found the repair part in the box. I relisted the item and it sold. A month later my account is suspended due to relisting the item. I contacted eBay and told them there is an error. I included the item needed to relist. In Feb. 2015, I listed a very nice, slightly used Toshiba laptop on eBay. It was up for auction and also had a "Buy It Now" price. I had my ad listed as not selling to international buyers and additionally no refunds. My ad was 100% accurate, fairly priced and what I think was an amazingly good deal. My computer sold almost immediately. To my chagrin, I noticed that my buyer was a ** in London, UK. I contacted this buyer to explain I didn't wish to sell internationally and "she" offered me $150 for shipping if I would ship the laptop to Lagos, Nigeria; the cradle of cyber crime. I knew this had to be a scam and sure enough the buyer then asked me repeatedly for my PayPal login credentials. When I said I would never give them this info I never heard from them again.
I reported all of this to eBay (after having to search online for a phone number for this useless company). I then relisted my computer. THREE MORE TIMES I had buyers snatch up my computer, turn out to be international con men who tried to hack my PayPal account. I reported all four to eBay and to this day all four are still actively accounts in good standing on eBay. In other words, they did NOTHING whatsoever.
Finally, I got an American buyer on my fifth time around. He paid immediately and I shipped him my computer. After he had it in his possession for 3 full days, he suddenly contacted me and said my laptop was not as I represented it. He said it was damaged, and did not work whatsoever. Knowing full well that I'd sold him a great laptop, barely used, and I work in IT so I know the condition of it was perfect, I told him I would not return his money. Then I did some digging on Google and guess what? The guy was a Nigerian national living in Virginia. I contacted eBay and told them all of this. The moron I got on the phone didn't listen to anything I said, was argumentative and rude to me and told me the burden of proof was on ME to prove I'd sent him something legitimate. ARE YOU ** JOKING?
I know what this guy was up to. He tried to retrieve the erased data off my hard drive over those three days, and I suspected he was also likely going to take the components out of my laptop, replace them with garbage and then ship it back to me. eBay left this case "ON HOLD" for 10 days and then sent me an email stating they had sided with the buyer. I still cannot believe this pieces of crap have the audacity to treat legitimate sellers like this but it's very obvious they don't care one bit about their customers. They just want to be a web portal and take zero responsibility for anything that happens on their site.
In the end, they refunded that Nigerian scammer all his money and I received my laptop back… damaged, beyond repair, and as I suspected, ALL OF MY INTERNAL COMPONENTS stolen, and swapped out with useless junk. I lost the money and had my computer destroyed and eBay doesn't give even the slightest crap about it whatsoever. Not their problem. I have contacted the police to press official charges against the buyer.
The funniest part, if you can laugh, is eBay is charging me $110 for the transaction. They actively facilitated a criminal, ripped me off, caused me to lose a $500 laptop and now they want to me to pay for the courtesy of getting screwed from behind while simultaneously knifing me in the back. It's no wonder eBay is rife with cyber criminals. It's a haven for them. They ought to change the name to eVil.

eBay has made it impossible for sellers with the new guidelines. Example: Buyer pays on 3/8/15 - Seller ships on 3/9/15 using the tools eBay provides - The tracking verifies seller had the package out within 24 hours. USPS delivers 3/17/15 (this was sent priority mail). Seller was dinged because USPS didn't deliver until 3/17/15. The top of eBay's customer service tells me it's my responsibility to pick a shipper that will deliver in time. eBay do you realize how ridiculous this is? There are three options for shipping - USPS, UPS and Fed Ex. Once the seller hands off the package to the shipper it's out of the seller's control.
You have also made it impossible for the seller by the way things are returned. Once the buyer opens a return the seller is dinged: Example: Buyer purchases dishes. Seller packs using bubble wrap/packing peanuts and double boxes the item. One bowl arrives broken. Buyer opens a return item - item is not as described. Seller tells buyer they will deal with the insurance and gives the buyer a refund. Seller is dinged. eBay's top of their customer service tells seller "Too bad - it's your fault that the shipper mishandled the box."
I understand that eBay wants to be a presence in the e-commerce, but eBay - you do realize that people who sell are going to become fed up and close their accounts? This will cause eBay to have less visibility in the eCommerce world. After talking with the top customer service representative yesterday, I walked away with the feeling that eBay thinks they are too big to fail and your top customer service representatives are nothing short of rude. A solution, I believe, is to change my handling time to 3 to 4 business days and stop accepting returns. eBay you really need to consider what you are doing to your sellers - you are not helping them or protecting them - you are alienating them, but I'm sure you're going to be happy to collect my 700.00 invoice for my sales for the month of March.

eBay did not honor their own rules during a transaction. This transaction was fully documented in supporting the seller's side of a transaction in eBay emails. The seller made an offer during the auction, the seller counter-offered and used the "sellers terms" to state what the buyer was responsible for, the buyer refused to follow the instructions per "sellers terms" as per eBay's pre-generated document. As the seller we filed a complaint against the buyer and cancelled the transaction. The buyer left negative feedback on an item that he never completed purchasing. eBay would not honor its own generated email a legal document "counteroffer" which included the wording of "sellers terms" and supporting our claim. I let her know she would be refunded as soon as I received the package back. The package came and I could not believe what was inside... two items that were not mine! As a buyer I am constantly overcharged for shipping due to the fact many sellers cannot comprehend how to use the "shipping calculator." When I have questioned some sellers, they simply stated they "charged a flat fee" for all shipping locations. That make no sense. I have had several items broken because people cannot properly pack certain items (sewing machines and phonograph turntables in particular), and become angry when I complain that it arrived horribly broken. I had a 30 pound sewing machine wrapped in bubble wrap and a kevlar bag, no box..
As a seller, my main complaint is "false bidding" -- I believe the term is Shill bidding. In this case the bidding is "enhanced" by obvious persons who are either relatives or employees of the seller placing bids on the items. You can obviously tell when the "bidder" has no history of purchases.. This is actually a federal offense, and if caught one may serve a five year prison sentence. And now more than ever, the customer service is a joke. I just returned another broken sewing machine. Only receive abusive emails from the seller and I made several tedious telephone calls to eBay and PayPal. Been in week long war not with buyers but eBay. They tell you what you want hear they lie, now two cases can be filed against you. EBay can force people take stuff back PayPal is same way. There needs be class action lawsuit to stop them. I been lie to so much it’s not real. I being told they writing things down, call back up, nothing was said. They did nothing what they told you they would do, their supervisors will even lie to you. I requested all my phone calls be given to main office - they refused. When eBay makes people take things back just because that person did something mess it up it’s wrong. There is no seller protection on either site - you a seller you now require take things back up to 160 days after you got it. All the information on these claims been sealed by eBay even though I did win.
Only way to get the emails and proof is court order. EBay forces people use PayPal - eBay needs set up their own payment system to meet the laws but they still force you use PayPal so all the lawsuits come to nothing. I won for one reason the supervisor did not want these phone calls get out. But it’s put me under so much stress. I got adhd - been having panic attack over how I was treated by all but one of them and that one just cover his butt no more no less than that if not for the phone calls eBay set me up to lose the cases.
I won both cases then cases was reopen as refund should be option of the seller not force by eBay. There is a box says “no refunds” but eBay nor PayPal honor it if you put as is its not honor. I would very much like find a lawyer to file a case against both them this treatment of their sellers must end. All the proof is in eBay emails and the 10 15 phone calls I made to eBay PayPal. The same when they lie to me though corporate office did help should never of happen and because it did and because they’re still so closely working together they’re breaking more on laws. I tired of being abused as a seller - you can’t win with eBay or PayPal. Sellers always lose that's why before a official case even open they take the money.
I been with them 10 years they never sent me to sign any new agreement leads to big fed case as they breaking fed laws by doing this. I so stress was just 45,00 but why I did not give in eBay, held a gun to my head so to speak, told me “you will pay you will lose regardless what.” I pulled all my auctions I have use eBay as I disable and buy very costly computer gear, cheap can’t get it nowhere else so cheap but way they treat their sellers is unfair, unbusiness-like and against the law.

Purchased an 128G jump drive from Ebay. Product received (long time to ship but expected). Placed a file on it so it looked like it worked. Left favorable feedback. Device would not store more than 32G and then failed to work (2 days later). Contacted Seller, asked for a return envelope. They sent me an address and did not send a return envelope. I requested a return envelope several times and they sent me their return address again. I followed their instructions on Ebay website. My wife mailed the item back to Ebay. Seller never sent me the item. I paid for the item and shipping back to jewels-malls (seller). Never received the item and paid for item and shipping. Although my feedback is 100% positive Ebay basically told me to take a hike.

As per tracking record of Track on Couriers, the item was reached Ernakulam (50 Km away from my address) on 18.03.2015, But it was delivered to me only on 23.03.2015 evening. The parcel cover was sealed firmly, so I accept the item. But when i opening the parcel, the cap of the bottle was seen separated and broken in 2 pieces. Seal of the bottle was seen removed and almost all tablets were seen lost (7 tablets were seen inside the bottle and 5 on the parcel cover). It was a shock for me, not only for the damaged parcel but also my belief in ebay. (I was in a firm belief that ebay is the no.1 company in india in the field of online business).

I sold a very fragile Swiss Le Coultre clock on ebay for way less than it valued at, Ebay set their own price 'buy it now for $500', what they sell for on their site not working. The clock I sold was a working, 15 Jewel, gold, crystal clock, the buyer was in portland Oregon & wanted me to ship it to his country Singapore. I declined because you have to ship to the address on the buyer's site. I sent it to him cushioned, finger foam, very thick shipping plastic, shredded packing paper on 1-12-15.
He received it in Portland on 1-15-15 intact. He shipped it air freight to Singapore and it was destroyed. He waited 30 days to say I was the reason it was damaged. When he asked me to send it to Singapore I felt something was up so I insured it, sure enough he accused me of the damage & sent a gold painted metal clock, no jewels, gold, crystal, just a pile of metal. Ebay gave him his money back & they collected the insurance I purchased, now they send me a message that if I do not pay seller fee I cannot get into my account, submit more evidence on my case, I turned E-BAY & PAYPAL into the BBB. Also have a attorney working on it for the full value of $2,800. I do not recommend selling anything on E-BAY. The pictures below show the clock before I sent it & pictures I took after receiving back.

I have been selling on eBay for 15 years. Recently a buyer filed a return request. The buyer is an absolute loon, and I could dedicate an entire post to her, but for now, I'll stick to eBay. I accepted the return, as eBay would force me to accept it anyway. She sent the item back, and eBay sent me an email stating that I had until March 30 to refund the buyer. Until then, I had a chance to inspect the item, make sure everything was okay, etc. Notice I'm writing this post on March 26. Well, just yesterday, the return was escalated to a claim, and 3 hours after it was escalated, it was found in the buyer's favor, the buyer was refunded the money, and I was *not* credited with the final value fee.
So, today I called eBay and asked what gives. I told the guy my story, and he asked what did I want eBay to do at this point. I said for starters, I'd like to get my final value fee refunded, which is standard for a returned item. I told me he would "see what he could do" and put me on hold. He then proceeded to tell me that "as a courtesy," eBay would refund the FVF. After I questioned his characterization of this as a favor, he stated that eBay only allows 3 days to refund regardless of what the email may have said. I told him I'd be happy to forward the email and of course he wasn't interested. I then asked what would happen if my jeweler determined that the item had been tampered with and he said that would just be a "cost of doing business." Amazing.
I'm not sure when it was, but I can guarantee you there was a certain date where a light bulb went off and eBay decided that sellers didn't matter. I actually think they abuse sellers on purpose so that only the biggest ** kissers will remain. It's actually a pretty good strategy when you think about it, which is why I'm so convinced that's their mindset. I think they figure they don't have enough buyers for the available items, so might as well cut down on the sellers since that's easier than generating new buyers. If I had any other choice, I'd be outta there for good, so I'm just waiting for an alternative.

As I sit here on hold waiting for the 9th customer service representative at eBay, I decided to post a complaint concerning eBay's customer service. Each time I am transferred, I am asked all the same questions as if there are no records or notes available. The issue is the my underage minor daughter set up an account and listed items for sale. She did not receive monies, nor she ship any items. I first called eBay about 3 weeks ago and after 4 transfers and 5 people, I was assured her account was cancelled and that no seller's fee would be charged to her bank card since no transactions had been completed and she was a minor.
We received her bank statement today and eBay processed the charges in spite of what I was told. Today, I spoke with 3 different people, then asked for a manager. After remaining on hold for about 10 minutes, I was asked if the manager could call me back. We'll see what happens next, however this is seeming like an eBay scam to me, attempting to discourage customers to the point that they simply give up. I bet I'm not the only one having this issue with eBay and wouldn't be surprised to see a class action suit one of these days.

eBay's seller policies are totally unfair & they cater to the buyer and leave the seller hanging on a thread holding up funds when a buyer bids & wins an auction, pays for it, then says he/she does not want it . You get charged a final value fee @ 10% plus a PayPal fee @ 2.9%. eBay then tells you to cancel the order and PayPal wants to charge you another 2.9% to refund the buyer. This is sheer nonsense. I have spent hours on the phone with them getting disconnected, brushed off, and given the runaround. I believe CA should do a deep investigation on their policies (all around) - they stink, are getting too BIG and making a fortune on the little people at hand. Please investigate!

Wow. And I mean WTF! First of all the MSRP amount... just go ahead and cut that in half. Then cut that amount in half again and make sure you don't bid past that amount. Because what you might make after original listing fees and shipping fees and final listing fees and then the Paypal fee on eBay will severely cut into your hypothetical profit after you sell the crap they list as merchandise. Watch out for the buyer’s premiums and the shipping! WOW! Now you are crunched for time! You have 48 hours to inspect every item and photograph an item you might want to dispute once delivered! Giddy up and go!
Not quite....nothing is new. Never assume when they say...tested... that it is!! Because it's not!!! I tried electronics...games, controllers, game consoles, Vinyls, headsets, DVDs, no matter what!!! Check it... I mean stick it in a console and photograph that it works, serial numbers, the whole shebang. OH! And the codes on games... always used!!! PC games... are downloadable now, so you might have a great disc and a box, looks like a saleable item... it's not! The code is used!! So Remember, in your endeavor to be an online seller, remember. EBay always sides with the buyer, take lots of pics, and don't spend more than 1/3 the msrp on liquidation. I personally am moving on to a different site. I can attest that eBay has its ups and down, but as I've read these comments, it seems most buyers don't understand. eBay is just a collection of sellers rather than one big store. I too have experienced my bad sellers as to my very pleasant ones. I just wished eBay would stop trying to grab more money from sellers and actually focus on the real problem: cases. If only there was a better way for buyers to prove that what they received was NAD. So eBay could stop siding with buyers who don't upload pictures or upload falsified images. Then eBay could really become a place where both buyers and sellers could feel safe.

When it came to my home, the Styrofoam that it was encased in had what appeared to be grease or something dripped on it. When I pulled out the can opener and lifted the flap, there was so much caked-on gunk that had clearly been there for years. There were no mounting screws or instructions with it at all. I contacted the seller to return it and he offered me $3.00 for the return when I paid 54.00 for it. He hides behind a no-return policy he has no matter what garbage he sells.
I contacted eBay and they contacted him and they said he did not have to take it back. I am furious that eBay would force their customers to accept an item that to me is a heath risk first of all, and second, with not all the parts needed to use it. I filed a claim for FedEx SmartPost w/ eBay on their site. This is the correct process and the only way one can file a claim. FedEx SmartPost only pays $100 + transportation costs regardless of the value of the item. IMC it was an antique item worth over $400 and sold for approx. $200 + 89.00 shipping costs (due to weight). It was shipped virtually within 3 1/2 hours of my residence. (I could have driven it there.) The item was completely damaged (although it was professionally packed). Damaged beyond repair. The buyer was inconsolable and I was very very upset. I filed a claim the same day. After waiting over 7 weeks (eBay's directions are 20 days + 2 -3 weeks???) I began calling eBay. I probably have 10 phone calls and about 20 hours invested in this to this point.
The upshot is this. eBay DOES NOT pay ANY CLAIM from FedEx SmartPost - PERIOD!!! FedEx SmartPost reviews these cases on the Monday following the submitted claim after eBay sends it to them. FedEx SmartPost pays eBay the $100 + transportation costs. eBay then essentially holds your money and does NOT ever refund it. Thousands of sellers have found this out the hard way (as have I). eBay's employees are told to say that FedEx SmartPost should be called and they are in charge of this. THIS despite the fact that their claim site states VERY clearly that they (eBay) is in charge of this and "manages???" the claim. FedEx SmartPost (who is cordial, considerate & HONEST) will tell you they have hundreds of people referred to them from eBay but they do not deal with the reimbursement. That would be obvious since this is an agreement w/ USPS who "delivers" the package to the door.
Now, you have eBay, FedEx, AND USPS involved and all of them have rules & regs that essentially block out the claim. The upshot is eBay is making hundreds of thousands of $$$$ in reimbursed claims from FedEx SmartPost and NEVER pays their sellers. I have not found one case where a seller HAS EVER BEEN PAID. However, you will find hundreds of complaints in their community of not being paid & getting the same runaround. Additionally, eBay states that they only reimburse $100 (to your "next invoice" - unbelievable) and FedEx clearly states that they reimburse transportation costs as well. Thus eBay purposely doesn't mention this and keeps ALL the reimbursed transportation fees for themselves as a BONUS!
BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT SHIP WITH FEDEX SMARTPOST through eBAY. The savings of a few $$$ will not ever compensate for the frustration and money lost. What is sublimely irritating is that everyone you speak to (even at the direct claims number) which is BTW (866.643.1587) is in another country.... If you call eBay corporate, they spend 5 minutes on recorded messages directing you back to eBay's site and what is laughingly referred to as customer service.
Essentially, this is one BIG SCAM created by eBay which makes them a fortune. All is at the cost to the honest sellers. I am still dealing with the buyer and I do not blame her. None of this was either of our fault. Oh, BTW, I have sold hundreds of items (valuable one of a kind items and antiques) with a 100% feedback - GLOWING REVIEWS... I would love to see the hundreds of sellers get together for a class action suit against the behemoth "eBay" and get the damages they deserve!

Every time I tried I was told that the number could not be used because there were two accounts using that number. I only have one account. I attempted on several occasions to have eBay correct this matter without success. Two months ago, I became very angry about this and contacted eBay customer service again. They were able to find the other account that was using my number, but couldn't tell me who it was. I asked them to simply call the number and see who answers. They wouldn't do it. Wouldn't even directly respond to the request. But, they told me it was going to be escalated and the higher department would contact the other user and have cease using my contact info.
Two months later, I contacted customer service for another issue and, guess what, nothing was done. So, I contacted eBay customer service and insisted that they call my number and see who answers. It took a lot of arguing. Had to listen to a lot of evasive crap that is common place in dishonest businesses, but, finally, after an hour or more, they called my number. They acknowledged that it was my ph#, that the other member had no business listing my number and they had placed a restriction on that member continuing to use my ph#. Guess what, they did nothing of the kind and the other unnamed member is now, with the full knowledge of eBay, being permitted to fraudulently use my contact information. I haven't yet, but I will be closing my account that I've had for 11 years. eBay is a shameful company.
