I am skeptical to buy things from the internet, but when I try eBay I feel secure using PayPal and their money back warranty and I like they have a variety of customers where I could choose from. They have confirmation and tracking of my order and I love it.

Received a broken item. I returned it on time but USPS didn't scanned it when I shipped in Miami, so first scan was in NY one day after the deadline, so they didn't refund even when was obvious I was right. They told me to call the seller (DEAL-BUYS) but they never answered, both of them not HONEST. Now they have the money and the item. If you have any possibility of a return be very careful, they will not help you. Actually I will never use eBay again!!! One more detail, they block me to make a bad review, so they have all covered!!! Reviews are one sided in EBAY!!!! This what I call MAFIA!!!

3 years ago I tried to sell a cellphone on Ebay. After approximately 1 month I did not hear any responses or bid responses. I took the phone off Ebay. After trying to buy an item I got a message onscreen that the seller did not take bids from people with negative feedback. Here a woman was bidding on my phone without me receiving any notification from anyone. No money or product changed hands. The buyer tagged me as a "scammer". After two failed attempts at trying to arbitrate I quit. Three years later I tried to get the negative feedback removed from my account. The fist rep said "not my department". Second rep said it should be removed after 1 year then sent me to another department.
Third rep argued that she couldn't remove it because it was Ebay policy. I demanded to speak to her superior. She took a phone number to have someone call me back. I received a callback from a supervisor. He said the same as the third rep. His solution was to open another account under another email address. Wow, a real honest solution. I wonder how many people with large amounts of negative feedback fix things this way. This is what we get for not doing business face to face. Buy local!!!

I purchased a blanket and they sent me a shower curtain. I contacted them and it was agreed they would send the correct item along with a return shipping label, which never happened. Then they wanted me to send them additional money for an item I already paid for and return the shower curtain at my expense and they would reimburse the shipping. That never happened either.

I sold an item on eBay, stated a NO RETURN policy. Of course, buyer going by the handle **, says item is broken. I state the item is brand new, and wanted proof that the item was broken, which the buyer would not provide. I then stated, and copied the portion of the listing that stated no returns. Buyer opened a case. EBay rules in the buyer's favor. Directs the buyer to return the merchandise, which is 2 pieces. As soon as the tracking shows it was received, eBay refunds the full purchase price.
Problem is, only one of the pieces is returned. I call eBay. They tell me that I have to get the buyer to admit that he doesn't intend on returning the other piece. Ya, fat frigging chance he will do that. The buyer, of course, lies, and says that he returned both pieces. The buyer has NO INCENTIVE TO TELL THE TRUTH. EBay takes him at his word. I am out half of the product, and all of the money. EBay is a scam. They essentially help buyers defraud sellers. I am closing my account and will NEVER sell on eBay again!!!

I purchased 2 iPhones and the seller disallowed a return. I was not aware you must start the return process within 30 days. Say 31 was New Year's day and no shipment was possible. I called eBay to appeal and was sent to 'High Volume Claims' and spoke to an eBay associate. She informed me that the appeal was possible because eBay could use the estimated date of arrival. So she looked at the seller's website and said that I fell within 30 days of the estimated date of arrival. I ask her point blank, "You're telling me that I can purchase new merchandise because the appeal will go through." She said "yes!" and said she would send all the information to my email.
I called eBay today because I received no email. I told a supervisor I made a new purchase based the employee's assurance the appeal would be allowed. The supervisor said she was sorry but the appeal was not possible. She said they would use it as a coaching opportunity but nothing else could be done. I ask her if that meant eBay would not take responsibility for their employee costing me hundreds of dollars by giving me incorrect information. She simple restated the policy and said she was sorry I was frustrated.

Bought an item today on eBay...signed in as a guest. When I received a confirmation email from eBay stating if I want to review my order 'please sign in using your email add and provided code. When I followed these directions I was sent to a Seller's Acct that had gone to collection in 2010. I've never had an eBay acct. Never sold anything on eBay! For the next 1 hr and 20 min I spoke to 5 account specialist. All of them insisting I had set up an acct from the device that I was using (oh by the way I have a brand new laptop and could never have set something up 7 years ago from this device). They were kind enough to give me the name of the collection agency my so called account had been sent to...no longer in service/disconnected - no luck there. Sorting this out.
I would really like to know who "Champagnecream' is (Whoa what a username??? The visions I'm having) and what did miss champagne sell I wonder?). This really is one for the books. The acct is under my email address, the acct info had my birthdate and home address so they are insisting I set this up...hmmm I think I would remember that. So still not sure what to do right now. Was my credit compromised? Has someone stolen my identity? They at eBay did not give me any answers. Just kept transferring me from one dept to the next. Now what? I hope I get what I ordered today. What a mess...

The runaround. Sold my tractor at half price on eBay to pay my land taxes, eBay says "your funds are pending in PayPal for up to 21 days, until it's been 90 days since your first successful sale, your seller level is Above Standard or higher, and you've had at least 25 selling transactions worth a combined $250". I have met all eBay requirements and they release $11.00 and hold Thousands. After talking to over 7 people at eBay, everyone says unfortunately. Buyer has left Positive feedback. Just not good business. Account ID: **.

Nov 2016 I bought some parts from UK. Global shipping was the carrier with tracking number. On 9/12/2016 the parcel was track to Brisbane {underwood} Then no further tracking. I contact the seller who was very helpful before Christmas and come to agreement I will wait till new year. I got a email from eBay stating delivery was done 30/12/2016. I contact them and ask if they can track the parcel. I never received it. The next thing the case was closed by eBay and the sellers details been removed from my buyer's list? Can't leave feedback? I found out that eBay doesn't cover any sales and you are on your own. If they can't get money from the sellers there is no guarantee from eBay. Conclusion used eBay to found out about an item and buy direct. It will be cheaper from seller and use normal post office service.

eBay suspended my account unfairly and indefinitely. I listed an item for sale on eBay site stating it was not authentic. I did not realize this was against their terms and also did not realize that they would suspend my account from buying or selling indefinitely less than two days upon notice that they had restricted my account. I feel that they are unfairly holding my accountable to their terms of use that I was not aware I was in violation of.
In addition, they do not allow for actual appeals, only appeals that they feel will be resolved in the user's favor. I have 100% positive feedback and have been a member since the early 2000's. I explained this to four different employees who would not let me know what I was in violation of specifically, and just that their decision was final. I feel that this is not a good transparent business practice.

I am disappointed at how eBay has handled my case. I purchased sunscreen on Dec 8 and expected time of arrival was Dec 23. The package showed that it was delivered to my place on Dec 20 but I did not receive it. I proceeded to contact the seller who suggested that I should follow up with the local post office but even after following up with them none of this proved fruitful. I opted to get a refund from eBay but after reviewing my case I will not be refunded and there's no reason behind this decision! I will NOT be purchasing anything from this website!!!

I don't normally write reviews ever, but eBay has grinded my gears so many times. Their customer service section sucks. You think you're going to chat with an agent, as there is a nice wonderful smiling face next to the 'contact' button and then you're asked to narrow down your choice. Most times you can't because issues are never that simple. So you choose one that is completely incorrect and you're not able to talk to anyone via online chat. You have to write a message and hope to get a response. When you get a response you're told you're in the wrong section. Like seriously? Why do I want to buy from this place? Their shipping is slow. Their service sucks and good luck ever returning anything. Grow up eBay or be buried. Your choice.

Real nice eBay. I have been a member with you for over 5 years. Top rated status and feedback of over $10, 000, yet somehow that gives you the justification to suspend my account for suspicious activity? What suspicious activity? You send a scripted email, but never tell sellers why? Not only that, you tell my buyers to open disputes due to suspicious activity even though tracking numbers prove the item was delivered? Are you kidding me? My PayPal is in the negative because of you and I have no way of trying to fight it when you simply ignore cold hard facts. I mean who is monitoring all this? Are they smoking pot? That is absolute garbage. eBay never replies to emails, gives you the run around, and yet has the sense to hang up on a long time user.
Horrible, just horrible. I am not only behind on my mortgage because of you, but I had to renegotiate a lot of debts that I need to repay back. Some that are even sending me to collections because I can't make payments on time. All thanks to the fine and dandy eBay. Way to go eBay. You are proving why many people are going stealth to counteract your policies. I myself am one of them and have enlisted Auction Essistance to help me. Your customer support is a joke and the way you handle claims is an absolute joke. You make it so easy for buyers to take advantage of sellers and scam us out of the items and money we work hard for. We the sellers are the reason you became where you are.

I bought a Vinex Junior Golf Set - Soni from eBay by paying Rs 1848.00. As per specification given by eBay the golf clubs were supposed to be metallic but to my horror I found that the golf clubs are made of plastic painted in metal colours. I raised the issue with eBay & told them that their action amount to cheating & unethical business. After lots of correspondence they agreed to refund my money & asked me to return the golf set. They told me that their courier will collect the item but I have to pay his charges which will be refunded by them. The courier never came to me to collect the item & I got a message from eBay that my claim is rejected due to delay on my part. There are two important issues here. 1. They cheated me by selling a plastic item at the rate of a metal item. 2. They fooled me by false promise to refund my money. I have decided to never purchase anything from eBay the cheaters.

You run a ad on eBay and the buyer gets the item as you listed it. Buyer says he wants to return it, but you listed as no returns. Nothing damaged on item. Part number is as I listed and eBay tells me I have to take it back, pay the shipping both ways and pay the eBay cost for listing. Never give me the pics the buyer sent in no prove of any problems at all. Don't list with eBay because if anything happens you will pay for everything and they pay nothing and they force you to pay via PayPal or they just take the money from your bank. No company should have that kind of power over the customer.

I recently bought a T-shirt online for around £30. When it arrived I noticed it was a cheap knock off, so as anyone would do I requested a return with the seller. The seller responded, and of course their returns address would be in China, and to make things worse I got an automated messaged from eBay saying the seller couldn't pay for the return postage (despite it being a fake!). So I had to pay £10 to ship the item back to China. I sent this tracked via Royal Mail to cover myself and uploaded the proof of postage to the return case that was open (as eBay guarantee that the seller will cover postage if the item is a fake). Some time passed and I noticed I had not receive any form of refund for the T-shirt.
My next step was to contact customer service. I have had somewhere between 5 and 10 messages from them. The content of which ranges from asking about the details of shoes (I haven't ever purchased shoes from eBay), calling me the wrong name, opening and closing messages with completely different names, and asking why there is a London address on the Royal Mail proof of postage (this was the address of the post office it was sent from). At the moment I'm stuck with them claiming I need to have every single line from the large Chinese return address (which includes Chinese letters) on the proof of postage. This is not what Royal Mail issue as standard as mine just has a postcode and tracking code on it (which they claim they can't find on the receipt either). By far the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Left out of pocket and out of principle I will never be doing business with them again.

Let me state I have an Excellent Buyer rating with eBay, 100%, no complaints and I have spent a lot of money over past 2 years on eBay, which has now ended!! Amazon blows them away when it comes to Customer Service!!! On Nov 28, 2016 ordered a Nursing Book for the wife, needed ASAP. Dec 6 eBay msg notifies me canceled by seller, no explanation. Go to seller website and order another and sent him email msg asking why order cancelled. Dec 8 see BS explanation about book lost, etc., no more books available. I reply, "just ordered another from you since your eBay site said more available." After reading email response from seller regarding 1st order cancelation, I state "might as well cancel this 2nd order and refund us the money since you don't have the book". BY now over a week has gone by and we needed the book ASAP. I told seller I would order from Amazon and asked to refund the money.
Few days later 2 books show up from Amazon. I am confused about 2 orders from Amazon. I figure out by tracking # that one was this BS Seller order from eBay, both books came in identical shipping boxes from Amazon Fulfillment services. This F'n seller had ordered the same book from Amazon and shipped it to me at a higher price after I asked him to cancel it, since he could not supply the book. I request a refund from eBay after several msgs to seller, NO RESPONSE from seller. Now going on 3 weeks, have called eBay 3x try and resolve the UNFAIR treatment of me the Buyer with a perfect track record of paying on time, etc. Every phone called ended up in the Philippines call center, a complete waste of time. VERY OBVIOUS that eBay DOES NOT GIVE **, regardless of the Seller's mishandling of the transaction! I am told I have buyers remorse, "Sorry can't help you."
ON top of that they send me a return shipping label and after I return the book I get hit with a $10.15 charge on my PayPal account from eBay for a $26 book order. UN-** Believable, spoke with another supervisor at eBay in the Philippines call center, that ** kept insisting that the eBay order could not have been fulfilled by Amazon even after I stated I could prove it. Again, a total joke and now I am disputing the PayPal charge. I refuse to pay for the return, especially when eBay and the Seller screwed this up! Besides eBay never informed me of the cost, hell I could have sent the Amazon book back instead of getting screwed for another $15 in additional costs and the headache. EBAY is a JOKE and if you ever have to deal with them good luck, they could care less!!! AMAZON has always treated me very fairly and great customer service, no BS ripoff return charges, etc. BEWARE eBay is VERY ONE SIDED AND PROTECTS SELLER!!

Hi. I sold a heater on eBay. I listed local pickup or you arrange for shipping. The person made me a best offer and I took it. He paid and a week later he asked when am I going to ship the heater. I sent back to him "if you read the listing it clearly says local pickup - you arrange for shipping." He put a complaint to get his money back. I called eBay on 12/13/16. Told them everything. They looked at my listing said I did everything right and they decided in my favor. Then the buyer appealed and eBay then decided in his favor and took 700.00 out of my bank account without my consent and gave the buyer his money back. I called eBay and they told me I can't have the money and the item. I told them I don't want the item. He has to pick it up. They told me too bad they are taking the buyer's side.
I am sick and tired of eBay protecting the buyer and the seller getting screwed. This has happened to me about 30 times in 2 years. The buyer can leave bad feedback on the seller but the seller can't leave bad feedback against the buyer like you could do years ago. This is costing me time and money. So I took off all my listings on eBay and I will no longer do any business with them. I would recommend if you want to sell items stay away from eBay because they will screw you. This all happened to me on 12/23/16 and I also cancel my accounts with PayPal and I had to go to the bank to cancel my checking account and open a new one because PayPal also had my debit card and checking account number. If someone would like to ask me any questions feel free.

Ever since eBay split from PayPal, my experience with any issue related to payments has been just awful. If I have a payment related issue, eBay immediately tells me to go to PayPal. They refuse to get on the call with PayPal and me to resolve the issue. When I contact PayPal they tell me it's an eBay issue and there is no problem on PayPal side. eBay tells me it's a PayPal issue. Both companies ping pong me until I give up. This happened to me several times now. Complete waste of time, energy and money. PayPal reps are usually very knowledgeable and clearly explain the problem. eBay reps are restricted in what they can do and absolutely refuse to help resolve the issue with PayPal.
Example - I purchased an item on eBay in euros w credit card (not through PayPal). Instead got charged in dollars with a very unfavorable conversion rate. eBay purchase screen only had euros listed and no indication of conversion with an extra fee. Called eBay, they told me to look at Order Detail screen. Screen show amount in dollars with an amount of 154 dollars less than what I was charged on my credit card. Answer from eBay: "This is not our problem, PayPal is our payment processor, you deal with them." They could not explain why I got charged more than their screen shows and refused to get on a call with PayPal and me. Of course PayPal told me they process instructions from eBay.
EBAY: PLEASE TAKE OWNERSHIP OF AN ISSUE. CONTACT PAYPAL ON YOUR CUSTOMERS BEHALF, RESOLVE IT AND GET BACK TO YOUR customer. This is customer service 101. No other vendor would tell their customer to contact their payment processing provider. They take responsibility for the transaction end to end. Also eBay, please update your credit card payment screen to warn your customer that payment will be done by PayPal and foreign currency payments will be subject to an additional fee of .25%.

I had been on eBay since 2004 and made a lot of transactions until 2012, literally thousands and only once had a problem bc the seller forgot to send out the item I purchased. Then I started having issues with using PayPal on eBay and I couldn't even make purchases. Not until recently did I start using eBay again. I made about 20 transactions from businesses (all with good ratings) and only 15 of the items came by the due date, 5 of them not at all. I had to contact eBay repeatedly, go through "resolutions" and even if I didnt receive items I was unable to get a refund and the comments I left on the sellers' pages were removed. If you are paying money for items in advance there is no reason to have to go through hoops to just get what you pay for then given "reasons" as to why you were swindled. Customer Service is inept and eBay is a very poorly ran company who do not value the people who keep them in business. Deserve no stars.

I looked at many Sorel boots and decided on a pair for the reason that I could return them. I have a hard time with sizing. On the 3rd day, I heard a slapping noise coming from the left boot. The sole had come apart from the upper from the front of boot around the left outside for about 6 inches. I emailed Star City Traders out of Santa Fe, New Mexico and stated that I would be returning the boots for a refund. Right before mailing, I decided to open a dispute resolution with eBay to keep my 100% good standing over 14 years. And I had no response from the seller which is a first for me.
Anyway, it was a Sunday, and eBay said they would be in touch within 24-48 hours with a decision. I checked in later that evening and much to my surprise, eBay said I would receive no refund, and I couldn't return the boots. They said the boots wouldn't be in the same condition as when I received them. Any company knows that there are lemons in any product, and that's why they have fair business practices to deal with these. I'm told that I can appeal, but know I will be shot down like all the stories I've read here in ConsumerAffairs.
I'M MAD AND ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED AND FEEL LIKE I'VE BEEN WRONGED but don't feel like there's anything that I can do. I don't think it's just Star City Traders. I feel like eBay, WHICH IS ALWAYS CHANGING ITS USER AGREEMENT, IS THE CULPRIT, and has sided with the seller for its 10% and will only get worse as time goes on. It's time for me to end my eBay and for sure I have mixed feelings. I have bought and sold over 200 items in my 12 year run. In ending, beware of eBay and Sorel boots. They are not what they used to be. Not even close!!!

Packages are lost all the time especially during the holidays. I was looking forward to reading these to my Pre-K class. Certainly not worth lying about. NO, eBay said that they were going to hold my funds until the 21st of Dec. and then I would have to wait 3 days for the funds to get to my bank account. This will put my money, Christmas money for my granddaughters by the way, on the 24th of Dec. What good will that do me or my granddaughters on Christmas morning?
I called eBay four different times about this issue and they told me that this hold was because I had sold only 3 items on eBay and needed to build a favorable account. Now I have been with eBay for 8 years and have bought 100s of items, and have always gotten an A+ from the seller, and on all 3 items I have sold I have gotten 5 stars feedback. In response eBay said that they can't refund the shipping cost if the user paid directly for it. But in the email they sent this information is not written.

I have reported them and EBAY still allows them to sell - probably because they are getting 10% from each bogus sale. Horrible customer service support from EBAY and they are on the side of the Seller who blatantly is ripping people off.

I've been selling on eBay for over 5 years now and the last year has been an absolute nightmare with regard to eBay/PayPal. My most recent experience, after numerous payment holds has been that I've sold a phone. The customer was not happy due to a software bug that I later tracked down to a Google software update. Regardless he was entitled to a refund which I provide in all my auctions. Having contacted the customer and confirmed that a refund would be given once the goods were returned I later found that he had opened a case with eBay who in the space of one day closed the case and refunded the buyer - informing me all at once.
I phoned and complained that I had been given zero notice nor any indication the customer had done this and was assured that despite there not being enough funds in my PayPal account to cover the refund that they COULD not take this money from my bank account linked through PayPal. The deficit would remain until I paid it. Needless to say within 5 days eBay had charged my bank account and still failed to remove the deficit from PayPal, unknown to me. As it happened the phone was still under warranty from the business I had originally purchased it from so I had returned it and received a replacement device as they themselves are unable to deal with bugs in Android updates.
I decided to then sell the replacement device as well on eBay only after the sale I now have no money in my PayPal account. I have been charged TWICE for selling two different phones and received a grand total of ZERO - the payment does not even showed up in my PayPal balance. I then complain to PayPal who ask me to send them a screenshot of the payment taken by eBay from my bank, which I do. They also say that on their system the refund to the original buyer has not been processed by eBay and that I should contact them. I do so and eBay assure me it has been, and it does in fact say "Case closed" on my account.
Basically I am using a checking account to do this with a small overdraft and am now incurring charges because of eBay/PayPal because I am over my overdraft. This is a direct result of weeks of incompetence on the part of these two companies. Is it my responsibility to "update their systems" myself? Do I have to telephone them and provide DNA evidence and a retina scan every time I transact online? Tracking codes, signatures, return periods... I have literally crossed every T and dotted every I and have an above standard reputation.
These two companies are laughable - they have graduated from withholding money to basically stealing it and I'm done with both of them. I intend to complain to the financial ombudsman over their conduct. At no point were eBay authorized to take money directly from my account. This is financial fraud and I've had enough of it. If I have to contact a solicitor to get this matter resolved I will and I certainly won't be using either service ever again.

"I am very sorry to inform you, but we were unable to locate the item that you have ordered. We would like to offer you another item with a retail value of up to $88 (listed in the title). You can browse our inventory at shoesandfashions.com. Please let us know how you would like for us to proceed. Thanks Beki." When I tried to leave negative feedback to warn other buyers, I got a message prompt from eBay basically stating that I "[can't] leave negative feedback--within seven days of the transaction"!!!
I called eBay customer service and asked them to open a case to have my money refunded and they tell me they "can't do it"! When I reminded them of the "buyer protection" disclaimer on the item listing as well as the "money back guarantee" they say--"it's up to the seller to 'cancel' the transaction... and we have to wait and see if they're going to send the item". eBay customer service HAD VISIBILITY ON THE MESSAGE FROM THE SELLER informing me that the PRODUCT WAS NOT AVAILABLE and that they are willing to give me "store credit"--that CLEARLY shows their intent of NOT RETURNING MY MONEY!!! I have been buying from eBay for a long time. Never tried to sell personal items until recently. I listed a pair of expensive shoes for sale at a ridiculous cheap price. I took the time to post pictures, gave specific details of the condition of the item (pictures and description). The listing was for a fix price and no returns accepted. This buyer contact me asking to lower the price, for some reason I accepted, sent the item and paid shipping on top of everything. The buyer came back saying that I was a dishonest seller, that the shoe leather was wrinkled (preowned shoes for God sake and the listing had pictures) and dirty on the bottom, that she wanted to return them.
Unbelievable! When I told the buyer NO returns the buyer open a case. I called eBay and their resolution was to refund the buyer! I requested to send pictures of the shoes, gave logic reasons why not to refund the money, etc. eBay decided to refund the money anyway. I had no say so in the matter. It was obvious this buyer new eBay policy and took advantage of it. SELLERS HAVE NO PROTECTION FROM DISHONEST BUYERS AND EBAY DOESN'T CARE. Do not use ebay to sell anything. These items are sewing machines (I just got the 7th machine) and they don't work. Two months ago I sent one back, and tomorrow I'm sending some brand new clippers back. Then in a few weeks when I can get a shipping label I'm sending the second sewing machine back ($330 with shipping I paid). I can't locate the order number right now, because I'm on the phone and will have to close out to get that number. You can contact me. There was a $20 item quite a while back that I never received.

Then on the third item my money was held & I was told that it can take up to 21 days before I receive my money. I eventually sold over $1000 worth of merchandise in one day. Now what business has to wait on funds until the buyer receives their product. If thats the case I will never be able to stay in business. It takes money to make money & if Im waiting on my funds its almost impossible for me to reinvest. Im just lost on how anyone can profit from using this service. A week later the item is returned by the global shipping program indicating that the buyer canceled the transaction. I contacted the buyer and they said they did not cancel anything. I then contacted eBay on Facebook and after a long exchange where they could not explain why the item was returned they told me to have the buyer open a case, they will refund the buyer in full and I can keep the item and the funds I received.
A week after this takes place a case is opened against me in PayPal. The buyer indicates they received the refund for the item but did not receive the refund for the global shipping payment, which I do not control. I call eBay and speak to a rep and then a supervisor. They refused to do anything at all to help me and said PayPal had to solve this. I asked them to make a conference call and invite PayPal and they refused, so I then called PayPal, who made the conference call and spoke to eBay. Still eBay refused to take care of the problem and even the PayPal customer service agent was shocked.
At one point during the call I told them about the promise made on Facebook by eBay, and the reply was that eBay would never communicate with anyone thru Facebook and they would not ruin their reputation making a promise like that, which was telling because he basically stated that eBay would never willingly admit to a mistake and agree to fix the damages at their expense. An abusive seller named Tikis Handicrafts starts pouncing on me for leaving her "neutral" feedback. Of course, the quality of her items were extremely good. I never denied it. I never told her anything negative about the product but her choice of the shipment company was India Post. Now, India Post has clearly tried to open my parcel again. I left her a neutral feedback and explained clearly in it that India Post had tried to indulge in thefts again with me though I gave them a chance. Without being reasonable, she leaves me a negative feedback asking me never to visit her store again though I always pay up the dues to every seller when I buy the goods. There have been absolutely no complaints against me before. None whatsoever.
But this seller claimed so many things in her private messages to me including things like "This is the first time I wanted to try selling in India but you shut down my shop before that", and then made other contradictory statements like, "You did not pay me for shipping" and blah blah. Hey, eBay India does not charge their buyers for shipping. The Drama Queen! Hey, if this Ms. Babita ** had been a good seller, she would have never dared retaliate and would have read the rules before joining the eBay India bandwagon first. Also, the main motivation for buyers is the FREE SHIPPING and not hidden charges for postage, etc. It's mostly included by the honest Indian sellers in the product cost itself. Even eBay told me on the phone that I have paid all my dues but this lady gets all retaliatory on me, doesn't think of the payment I honest made against the goods I purchased from her, etc. But eBay India supports her nonetheless.
When I wrote a complaint against her on the eBay forum, they are saying that it's against their "policies" to name a seller openly and edited my comments to remove her shop's name but yeah — they will tolerate it if a seller gives negative feedback to a buyer under the category of positive feedback and harasses good buyers! Their written policies are very clear but contradictory to how the problem was tried to be resolved on the phone - their policy clearly states - No seller should leave their buyers negative feedback - but the eBay staff tells me on the phone - anyone can leave anyone else any feedback they like. I wish they would go back to their USA — wherever they came from. There is absolutely no buyer protection. Just seller protection. How do you think customers will be happy?
If they want to save on taxes fraudulently from the USA, they can continue to stay in India. Otherwise, let them roll up their sleeves and prepare to leave my country. No other seller had done this to me before. This female seller claimed that she was born in India but has been to several places, etc. and that she still knows India in and out but she didn't seem to be able to predict that India Post is not being honest. At least, she could have done her homework before entering the Indian market about customer preferences, problems, etc. Plus, my postman is also constantly bothering me by saying that I need to stop complaining to India Post on their website because he is "honest" and did not steal and blah blah. I gave him another chance but the packet comes torn at the top.
I have lost around 200 GBP (Great Britain Pounds) while trying to buy artificial jewelry from the UK before... thanks to India Post's greedy employees. However, the honest seller from the UK thankfully refunded me or else I would have lost a huge sum of money. Plus, India Post had once stolen laddoo Prasad that came to me under "Registered, Speed Post" from the Mahakaleshwar Temple and they conveniently blamed it on the "rats." Thankfully, I noticed that the packet of sugar cubes that the temple had sent me was intact. If it had really been rats, I am sure those things wouldn't have spared even the packet of sugar cubes. I would strongly urge Indian sellers to continue using FedEx and BlueDart as compared to India Post. I am really getting tired of all this. Now, this seller has defamed me publicly but eBay is okay with it.
I would also urge buyers to stay away from this fraudulent seller "Tikis Handicrafts." If I really had a problem with the items, I would have sent a photograph and made a refund claim but since the product was perfectly alright, I did not do so. The package was torn though!!! I paid the seller INR 650 now, calculate the cost of raw materials for making jewelry it barely comes to INR 40 or 50. Plus, if they ship in bulk with private couriers, what do they lose? They get discounts. They can happily keep their profits and also save on shipping but this stingy seller sent it by India Post. I initially did not object because I decided to give my postman one last chance but the packet arrives torn still. Then, when it comes, I realized it is high time to stop allowing eBay sellers to ship items by India Post. So yes, I make other customers aware through a neutral feedback.
My intention was never to defraud the seller but she starts pouncing on me with accusations such as "I am shutting down her shop" and blah blah just like the foreign returned seller that she is. She uses big words to get her way! I am not one of those dishonest buyers please! Before anyone else can pounce on me, think! I have always paid my dues to eBay sellers and my records have always been neat. If I had really not paid her, she could have left me a negative feedback even if under a positive category but she got all vengeful and retaliatory just like a British Colonialist would have done to Indians back in the day! Wow! She even told me that she had "absolutely NO problems while selling her goods abroad." This is India - not abroad! If she is such a good seller, why doesn't she go back to wherever she came from? Seriously!

I feel that my case had been handled by eBay unfairly.
The responses from eBay customer service appeared generic and not specifically written to deal with individual cases and one of the responses had many spelling mistakes! That does show their careless attitude towards their work. I am a consumer and paid for the goods that I ordered, but I did not receive my order, I should be protected by eBay. I do not feel eBay treats sellers and buyers equally. I made it clear to the Appeal Rep that the Rep did not do her job. She then said they will talk to her to make sure she does not make that mistake again.

Sold an item for $1250 then customer decided they wanted to return it after using it. At first they claimed it was damaged. We requested pictures. They declined. eBay intervened and decided in favour of customer and deducted the fees from my PayPal account. Customer then refused to return the item, refused calls and am left owing eBay that money. They are now threatening to shut down account and have stopped all selling activities and chasing me for the money although I warned them beforehand that there was something wrong with the customer.

I ordered a computer screen. The shipping was free but when it came, there was a $14.00 charge. I sent the product back and requested it be sent free. I never heard from the vendor and never saw my screen. I had paid over $70 for the part. I asked eBay to help. That was a joke. I only communicated with a computer. I was told to ask for a shipping label and send the product back. Several times I tried to explain that I did not have the product. I never did speak to a real person. I could not order a label since I did not have the product. I had been a pretty good eBay customer with no negative or neutral responses. I am no longer an eBay customer as they are going for volume. I have since found I can usually find the products as cheap on other sites. Goodbye eBay.

Upon contacting eBay by telephone to determine what had occurred in regard to my account, the agent repeated the statement to me that they had reason to believe the account had been used fraudulently and I needed to change my password. When I pressed them for details of what they had discovered regarding my account, and after being transferred to a second office and agent, the 2nd eBay agent admitted to me specifically that there had been no fraudulent activity on my account, but that their security program sends that message out to various accounts so that they can get the patrons to change their eBay password.
In short she admitted to me that eBay had lied to me (and I used that word and made that accusation to her) about the fraudulent activity on my account and had changed my password without prior contact to me and without my authorization so that they could force me to change my password - all in an effort to support their company's security desires. She also informed me that they would like all of their patrons to change their password every three to six months.
When I demanded that they reinstate my account password and allow me access to my account without having to change my password, she said they would not do that and that if I did not change my password I would no longer have access to my account. So, eBay lied to me about the fraudulent activity and locked me out of my account until they could force me to change my password. The result was that my snipe software was locked out of my account this date and I lost a very favorable purchase on eBay for an item that my attempted bid would have purchased, and that cost me at least $60.00 - $100.00 in price benefit should I now buy the item elsewhere. I have had an account continually with eBay since September, 2002, and I have a 523 red star status with a 100% positive review. This is the first time they have seen fit to treat me this way and it may well be the last time I deal with them. I hate being lied to.

My ordeal with eBay began on December 19 of 2014. On that date my eBay selling assistant vacated the residence that we shared. Unbeknownst to me, this person had been pilfering personal belongings from my children and I, some irreplaceable, for an unspecified period of time and had actually been selling personal items of apparel belonging to me while still residing in the house. In January of 2015 I discovered more of our property listed for sale on a selling page belonging to this individual. On January 3, 2015 I attempted to purchase one of the items stolen from me from this individual, only to have the sale cancelled. I immediately contacted eBay and was instructed to contact local law enforcement and file a report, which I did immediately. A police report was generated and submitted by the detective managing our case in February of 2015.
This report contained a detailed listing of stolen items that had been sold or were currently listed for sale on this selling page. I was informed by eBay representatives that it would take 7 to 10 days for the report to be processed and acknowledged. Weeks passed with no acknowledgment as I watched our personal belongings being sold to unsuspecting buyers all over the world with no response or action taken by eBay despite acknowledgment of receipt of the valid police report. I continued to contact eBay daily, distraught as I watched our personal belongings being sold on accounts belonging to this individual and that of his brother, one by one. It was not until the second week of March that I finally made contact with an representative named Lisa who acknowledged the active report, apologizing profusely for the lack of responsibility and action taken by eBay and worked with her supervisor to immediately suspend the account.
The "hitch" was that my account, which supplied 50% of my monthly income was affected as well due to the fact that this suspended seller and I had at one time shared a physical address and IP address. I again began contacting eBay daily in an attempt to rectify this problem. Despite the fact that my sales had literally plummeted to a trickle in the weeks following the suspension I received constant denial of any correlation between the two events until the last week of March 2015 when I spoke with an eBay rep who acknowledged the obvious correlation and also informed me that this individual had managed to maintain an active link between our accounts via personal information which was being used without my consent. I was confused as all of my information was new.
Bank account information, credit cards, email addresses etc. all had been changed due to the fact that this individual had also committed fraud on my bank accounts and they were closed per federal law. I also spoke with eBay Trust and Security that night. I was informed that this individual was using my IP address and computer ID number from a remote location! I have no working knowledge of internet identity theft, or how any of this is possible from a distance that minimally was 50 miles from my home but was assured that is possible and was in fact happening. I was advised by the T&S eBay rep to contact my internet service provider and request that my IP address be "broken". I did this immediately as well. For a few months it seemed as though my account and personal information were finally no longer being tampered or interfered with.
My sales returned to normal and life was moving along smoothly. The individual had been formally charged and arraigned on two counts of felony larceny in June of 2015, one of those charges directly involving the theft and subsequent sales of our personal belongings on eBay. In July of 2015 I noticed a sudden decline in sales once more, literally overnight. As it turns out eBay had reinstated the suspended selling account! I was in disbelief and contacted eBay many times regarding the reinstatement of an account directly involved and related to felony larceny charges and the fact that once again, I was obviously linked and being negatively impacted by activities of this unscrupulous individual.
It was at that time that an eBay representative informed me that I would need to clear my name again. Although I have documentation from the District Attorney's office that would provide a clear picture of perpetrator and victim I have never been allowed to provide eBay with this information. My once successful selling account declined steadily until it was no longer profitable for me to remain on eBay as an active seller. On October 29, 2016 with roughly $13 in total sales in the previous two weeks I removed any remaining listings from my selling account on eBay.
I am not angry, but can only shake my head in disbelief. In addition to the loss of my home, bank accounts, and personal items, many of which were part of a collection amassed over 30 yrs, I have also lost the business that I took great pride in and had worked diligently to build after coming home from work, and on weekends. Interestingly enough the individual who actually committed the crimes was inactive on eBay for a total of 6 days following the initial suspension and has continued to sell successfully using a number selling accounts with false names and addresses, and merchandise flowing between them freely.

eBay gives no Seller Protection whatsoever. Sold a Pentax D FA90 lens on eBay for $2250.00. The buyer requested a return which I agreed to because he said it wouldn't focus. When I received the lens it was almost separated in 2 parts, pretty much junk. It appears it had been dropped and the lens hood was not returned with the lens.
The rest of the matter was summed up by eBay and I copied and pasted the following: "I am contacting you about the Pentax HD D-FA 645 90mm f/2.8 AW ED Lens (eBay item# **) that you sold. I've reviewed your communication to us and I understand that you are saying the buyer has not returned the item in the same condition as you had sent it out in, but you have the item back and accepted the return. Situations like this are not common on eBay, but when they do come up it can result in loss. This is not something where eBay is going to be able to take care of your business loss in this situation." This was included in the Appeal Denied letter. So Seller beware!

eBay PRACTICES ARE TOTALLY DISHONEST! Sellers are SYSTEMATICALLY penalized by eBay in case of conflict. This is the second time it happens (case ID #** and case ID#**). In both cases, eBay decided to settle for the buyer and left me, the seller, with no product back, and a direct withdrawal in my Paypal account. eBay systematically takes the party of the buyers. SO THIS IS MY BEST ADVISE TO THE BUYERS: buy whatever you want; when you receive the product, open a case, refuse to give information back to the seller, take your time (very important – 5 days minimum to avoid coming to an agreement with the seller) and you will win your case. You won't even have to send the product back to the seller. You won't have to prove anything AND you will be refunded.
EVEN THE FOLLOWING APPEAL WAS REJECTED (Aug. 22: You sent us an appeal. Comments: As the customer was refunded, I request that the item that was send to the customer is sent back to me as soon as possible. I needs to be sent back to me in the original condition it was received and I need pictures of the frame as it is right now before it will be shipped back to me. My account was shut down for no apparent reason other than "sorry it was a security risk". What does that even mean? Purchased items were not sent. I was restricted of even communicating with my sellers to discuss how I can receive my packages and when contacting eBay was greeted with the same disrespectful and condescending tone of "sorry we can't help you". I asked if I could at least contact my sellers to make sure I received my items since they had no tracking numbers and the operator told me literally that I had to just hope that it would arrive and that there was nothing he could do about it.
This is the worst business I've had the misfortune of trying to communicate with logically, especially their call center which they probably hire and underpay for pennies from the Philippines because all of them have a heavy Southeast Asian accent and it's quite apparent that English is not their first language. Service is horrible to non-existent. The archaic rules put into place which they hold as top secret and execute in secrecy at the costs of buyer and seller both, are basically a corporate tyranny on its users!
Since messaging on my account was crippled, I found a workaround to contact the sellers through complaints, which intended or not, worked. Every time I want to message them, I have to file an issue complaint. I don't know what happened a few days later after the sellers graciously offered me the option to send another item or refund, because all the items on my Purchased list has disappeared and it won't let me view them at all now!
So currently I can't even complaint-message them. If this was intentional, it would be a truly despicable move on their part, from the already offensive nature in which they operated without regard. You don't just take someone's money like that eBay. That's called robbery. Don't tell me to do this on PayPal because you two are separated now. I also purchased these items on your platform, and without reason of having my account shut down, I still expect to get my items or my money back through the same platform in which I offered my money to. So have some respect for your consumers and sellers both. We are not numbers, we are humans and treat us like so.
The difference that good customer service can make under a transparent system is that of what Amazon would be. I've already spent close to $10,000 on eBay but no longer. I would suggest everyone get off of eBay because this kind of thing can happen to anyone, not to mention the plethora of fake/counterfeit and copyright infringed goods that are pardoned to go on selling from China. It's possibly the most frustrating experience which was never expected. I guess we live and we learn. So I'd like my money back eBay, and I'll be on my way.

I asked for photos of the laptop to see if it was damaged and noticed the laptop was cleaner than when I sent it. I asked the buyer if he attempted to clean it and the buyer refused to answer.
I contacted eBay and told them I believed the person was abusing the return policy and wanted to escalate the return. I was told that sellers can't escalate return request and if I felt it was a fraud all I can do is report the buyer. I won't receive any money back at best they can try to force him to return the laptop that he broke.

Think twice before shopping on eBay. They try to give lots of trouble to buyers to protect the fake product sellers. There are actually NO OPTION on the whole eBay site to complain about fake product bought, the closest one is request to return it because it looks like a fake one. Once mistakenly chosen, eBay will automatically open a return request for you, and say they will ask the seller to refund once the return tracking shows delivered. If the package is lost, eBay would tell buyer to claim refund for lost package instead, but in fact impossible because shipping counterfeits is illegal, then refund will never issued.
You actually need to call the Customer Support robots directly to file a complaint about getting a fake item. Even if you can do that, they give you only 5 DAYS to prove the item is fake. They will then give trouble to victims by accepting ONLY MANUFACTURER DOCUMENT PROOF, but they won't say it publicly. Objective differences from real one? NO. Spelling mistakes? NO. Wrong S/N, expiry date? NO. Document from manufacturer saying the item have something wrong? NO. Only document from manufacturer, saying directly "it is counterfeit", is accepted.
According to The Counterfeit Report, even if you can provide such a strict proof in strict time, the counterfeiting seller is just asked to refund only. No banning of accounts, no removal of counterfeit items, no legal actions taken. In addition to that, eBay would require buyers to destruct the item to get the refund, which would mean no more evidence to take further legal action.

On Sept 18th, I offered for sale my father's 900 card baseball card collection. I repeatedly stated I knew nothing about the cards and couldn't guarantee anything about the sale, which included a number of 1950's rookie cards. I had a buyer repeatedly email me asking me to sell to him and end the auction early, which I refused. He began to bully me stating that I “don’t have to let other bidders keep bidding, you can break the rules, I do it all the time." He bid the auction up to $638 and won the auction. With misgivings about this buyer, I boxed the cards up and mailed them. Within minutes (as shown by the shipping tracking) of this buyer receiving the cards he'd won, he filed with Ebay for a refund claiming 3 of the 900 cards he bought were fakes.
I responded showing the 9 emails we'd exchanged prior to the sale – including his bragging about breaking Ebay rules repeatedly, and referred repeatedly to the auction itself stating I could make no guarantees about the card collection. Ebay ruled, as they ALWAYS do in favor of the buyer, ignoring all of our prior exchanges. When I got the package back from the buyer, it was in my original box, but I noticed when the mailman handed it to me that it was lighter than it should be, at which point I began videoing my opening the box, and sure enough, the box was empty. The buyer had ripped me off. I called Ebay immediately and spoke to someone in the appeals department, who effectively said "Oh well. Learn a lesson and move on. We can't and won’t help you. We have no way to know what he sent you." I pointed out that I'd filmed myself opening the box and was told "That's meaningless to us."
In the meantime, Paypal took the money out of my bank account BEFORE the initial appeal had been even heard, causing me to have over $120 in overdraft fees, and forcing me to close my bank account to keep them from taking more money from my account. I called them as well to let them know what happened, and their response was - "Ebay told us to refund it, so we did." offering me no protection there either. In addition, they put a hold on my account until I paid them the $120 they said they couldn't collect (because they caused me the loss in overdraft fees) AND hindered my sale of further items that were currently in ending auctions. I canceled all active auctions – because I wasn't going to send out more items when I couldn't collect the money for them with the Paypal hold on my account, and Ebay and Paypal are charging me for that as well.
Worse, I'd had a separate credit line with Paypal that they've charged to its limit trying to collect from me there too, NOW with INTEREST! So I'm now not only out my father's collection, but the $638 it sold for, $120 in overdraft fee's and the $120 Paypal is saying I still owe THEM too, on top of interest payments garnered when Paypal switched the money they were trying to collect from me to the credit line I had. Ebay and Paypal are causing me the worst nightmare I've ever had. They should be ASHAMED and we that are getting ripped off by them all have ZERO recourse! If anyone can help, please contact me!

The courier tried to deliver the item and as there was no one home. I got a card in the mailbox. This particular courier service did not have a location for me to pick up the item anywhere close and also was only open during office hours. So I couldn't pick it up. They told me to contact the seller to get it delivered to a different address with someone there during the day. I did and the seller told me that would be another $30 for postage. I agreed and paid the money directly into their bank account. However, when I checked the tracking number about a week later the item had been returned to sender by the courier company. They had no info on file that any attempt had been made by the seller to change the address to the new one.
So I contact the seller and ask for a refund. They just keep giving me the same tracking number. I open a case. eBay says the seller showed it had been delivered. NO refund. I opened a complaint about the judgment and replied that it had been attempted to be delivered, I had paid extra to the seller for redelivery, and despite this it had subsequently been returned to sender by the courier company. This info is available on the courier site for the tracking number. All they need to do is check that. Apparently, proof that it has been returned to sender is not enough for eBay. No explanation, just that I still don't get a refund. I doubt they even bothered to check the tracking number. I have now had to open a complaint with the credit card I used in attempt to get a refund. I have totally lost faith in eBay after this complaint process. Ebay decides not to punish the seller but, not to allow me to buy from that seller.
Then recently I won a auction and the price was 21.55 with zero seconds and the green bar on top telling me I won that auction. I then went to pay for it and the price increased to 32.99. I called and they gave me a song and dance about last minute bidding which of course is idiocy since their own page had said that bidding was over and I had won. Ebay is equally dishonest with Sellers. As 10/15/16 was a Saturday, I was able to open a complaint through USPS's 800 number but unable to speak to the local postman until 10/17/16 at which point, the local postman advised that he had delivered 7010 on 10/14/16 and went to the purchasers home to confront him. Purchaser was forced to admit that he had received 7010 and closed the request. He then, however, immediately opened a second request for refund advising the serial numbers on the box and console did not match and this was not what he ordered. He sent me photographs of two consoles side by side, these are the same console. The buyer states that he received 7017 from me rather than 7010.
I contacted Nintendo, manufacturer of both 7010 and 7017. Nintendo provided in writing, evidence that 7017 was not even purchased until 10/13/16, while 7010 was already in transit, making it impossible for the buyer to have received 7017 from me. I submitted this evidence to eBay and implored them to look at the entire exchange, taking into consideration the already shady behavior of reporting an item as "not received" when the buyer actually did have the item, and the fact that I had irrefutable evidence from the manufacturer of 7010 and 7017, showing that what the buyer is claiming is impossible before ruling to refund the buyer's money however, eBay has advised me that they cannot prove that the buyer is lying therefore, the claim is valid and they will be taking money from me.
Highly disappointed that being an honest seller gets me scammed and eBay helped someone do it because I will not receive the item that I paid for, the item on my receipt, the one of a higher quality than 7017. I will receive 7017, which is inferior, I will not be able to resell it, and I will lose all of the money that I paid for the purchase of 7010 with, along with the money that I paid for shipping, not to mention the time and effort that I had to put into research this and contacting the manufacturer. Where is the protection for the people who actually pay for eBay to be a company?

I sold an IMAC 27 to a buyer, he claimed the stand was bust when he received it and sent it back. When it arrived at my home I could hear glass shaking in the box, upon opening box the screen had been broken (the buyer hadn't bothered putting the screen protector nor the bubble wrap around the screen before returning it.
The stand was not bent or broken as he described, I took photographs of the stand and the packaging within the box. Had requested, through the channels that the buyer provide me photographs which he did not do. Appeal guy at ebay told me I should never have accepted the return, but as there was no option to not accept the return he kind of fell on his sword but still would drop their fees - not only have they ruled the buyer is right (money back guarantee probably has something to do with that), but they billed me for the expense taking their fees, $65 even though it was returned!!! So fleeced by the buyer then reamed by ebay - needless to say my days with EBAY are done.

When I went to the eBay resolution center they denied my refund based on a "thorough investigation" that indicated there had been a delivery receipt. Obviously they did not even bother to read or comprehend my complaint. Based on eBay logic, a seller could sent you any empty box, get a delivery receipt, and not be concerned with eBay's so-called resolution center. eBay's guarantee is totally worthless.

My item was shipped but the address was wrong (my fault). I contacted eBay and told them about this and they said they'd note it in my file. They said to contact the seller and get the address straightened out which I did. The seller (Robercik) said he tried to ship it again but I looked at the tracking info and he did not make a second attempt. Then he asked for more money for shipping which I sent and he said he'd send it on Oct 5th even though he hadn't yet received my extra shipping money. He did not send it on Oct 5th - he lied to me. Ebay said I don't get a refund because the address was wrong. This goes against what they said to me over the phone. Ebay does not stand by its customers! I never received the item and they closed my case without even considering the further emails I sent them (proof of the seller saying he'd send it on Oct 5th). I was robbed and misled.

This is a warning for everyone. Do not buy authentic products from eBay because eBay is not reputable and you will have a very hard time getting your money refunded. I am out of 300.00. I had no idea these people were lying. The boots looked totally authentic. Even came with fake papers. Then they arrived with fake fur, missing fur and not the right material logos or anything close to a real Ugg boot. The purchase protection is a joke. You call eBay they say "call PayPal" and then you hear "call eBay, we can start a claim and it will be 10 days". No freaking way. You take the money immediately, you should refund immediately within 48 hrs. Max as a online shopper I suggest Groupon. They are legit. Do not shop with eBay for items you can't afford to gamble on because it's a total scam now. I'm so mad, frustrated and angry over the service I received.
Once I get my refund I'm never ever going to make the mistake of shopping off eBay again. It's like a garage sale for dumb azzes and I just happened to be one of them. After the seller scammed me out of my money he had nerve to tell me I had to be dumb to think I was going to purchase some real Uggs off eBay but at 167.00 for my pair and 155.50 for my daughter's. They just should have been real but I will tell you Uggs online legit, Nordstrom, legit and it was only 20.00 more not to be scammed with fake boots not worth 10.00. The brown boots are fake. Look at the bottoms and had nerve to send real papers with these boots. The black crocs are genuine Uggs off the website. Study the pictures of the differences in the boxes and Ugg symbols so you won't purchase and wear fake Uggs.

eBay guaranteed a selling price of $352 for my iPhone 6 which sold for $277. Under the terms of their guarantee I would receive a store credit for the difference between the guaranteed price and the sold price. They are refusing to honor this guarantee because they are arguing that my sale did not qualify for this guarantee. eBay had 7 days to notify me of this before the auction ended and they chose to not make any revisions to their guarantee or notify me that I would not qualify. I believe I was deceived into selling an item with eBay.
According to eBay the phone I sold was not described accurately, therefore disqualifying it from the promotion. I described the phone as being in "excellent" condition and noted all the marks that were to be found on the phone. eBay, unlike most sites, has no reference guide to establish what "excellent" or "good condition" means to them.
After the auction ended I was informed that in order for a used phone to be in "excellent" condition it can not have a single mark or scratch on it. My listing thoroughly described every mark on the phone (which were extremely minimal) and the description was accepted with the price guarantee. Only after the auction and I did not receive the credit did I take the action to find out why the price guarantee was not being honored. eBay made no attempt to inform me either during or after the auction that they found my description to not be considered accurate, despite having no reference for what an "excellent" condition phone description should contain.
After the auction ended I called eBay twice and they finally informed me that they retroactively voided the guarantee because the description was not accurate. Had eBay contacted me during the auction with this information I would have had the chance to cancel the auction and keep my phone. They made no attempt to contact me and I ended up selling my phone for a much lower price than I could have received from other sites. The actual buyer has made no complaints about the description of the phone being inaccurate.

Seller beware!!!! If you are hoping to make any kind of profit or at least break even, this is not the place. Do not sell high ticket items on eBay! By this I mean anything worth over $100. That's right. I said one hundred dollars. Ebay's selling charges are not cheap. You need to take this into account before you consider selling anything on this website. First, you need to find their selling charges page and then look at their tiered selling structure. Find what you think your item is worth. Finally, see if you can sell it somewhere else for less, especially after eBay has taken their cut.
Example: 1 OZ gold bar. Price per ounce on open market? $1250. Sell it on eBay for $1300. You think you made a $50 profit? Wrong! Ebay takes 10% off the top. That's $130 gone forever into eBay's pockets. Your net sale? $1170. You could have sold it to an online gold company for $20-$30 under spot. You lose! Can't imagine what or how that really hurts the seller when it comes to cars, boats, and jewelry. Good luck. I hope this helps.

I had a bug on my eBay listing that effectively let people buy my product for much cheaper than I set the price for. (Each variation had a different price, prices would randomly get shifted down the list of variations.) I had to edit my listing probably 10 times and cancel a bunch of orders and send out a bunch of apologies to buyers. Called eBay because I was worried the cancellations would affect my discounted prices for being a good seller, and they didn't believe me, saying I must have edited the listing wrong, but that the cancellations won't count against my seller rating. I was extremely relieved. Bug stopped happening after I deleted my listing and did it all again.
1 month later my seller rating plummets because of all the cancellations. I call them, and they say there's nothing they can do and I should have contacted them earlier, and they didn't believe me when I told them about the bug, or that the guy I talked to prior said the cancellations wouldn't affect my rating. Well they wouldn't let me list my products anymore because my seller rating was too low to list that many items. ** eBay.

After 14 years as an eBay seller who has prior to a few weeks ago has never lost an eBay complaint I have had enough. Apparently eBay has decided that the Seller has no rights and the Buyer is always right. After selling a toner cartridge with "NO RETURNS" clearly listed in the description the Buyer decided because the box (not the cartridge) was damaged they wanted to return it. Prior to the return request I had to beg the Buyer for 9 days to pay (on a buy it now purchase) and when they finally did pay they had never responded to any of the 3 emails (2 from me and one from eBay). I then notified them when their product shipped with tracking number attached as I said I would in the auction.
When they requested a return I explained that this was a "No Return Purchase" and had to wait to escalate for 6 more days. As soon (within 1 hour) as I escalated the complaint eBay sent me an email saying they had ruled in favor of the buyer and I would be responsible for paying return shipping, ALL Fees etc "as soon as they (eBay) received notification of delivery. Now I am not sure, but I normally receive a tracking number when something is being shipped to me, but not from eBay, they got it, but never shared it with me, oh they did offer to give it to me during the call, kind of a day late though. On October 3rd eBay then charged me all of the fees, shipping etc, but I still have not received my item back.
I called eBay and was told that they shipped it back to an address that we changed 4 years ago (not the address they used to verify the account when I called in, which was the same address that they had for ship to, and return address on original shipment which was also done thru eBay) and since it was still in my file I am out of luck. Obviously the conversation was much longer and more explicit than that, but needless to say I heard a lot of "eBay Policy states" etc. so the final outcome is I talked to 3 customer service reps, 2 supervisors and the final supervisor agrees that I was mistreated, eBay and its employees misrepresented Policy, and my item was shipped back to the wrong address, BUT eBay Policy would only allow her to refund me the $7.38 in seller's fees.
So all told I am out the $70.00 I sold the item for, the 7.00 PayPal charge me for accepting the money, the 12.50 for shipping the item, the whatever eBay decides to charge me for shipping the item back to the wrong address, and they are going to credit me $7.38 in fees they collected for me selling the item. Final outcome for selling a $70.00 item Seller loses 101.50 or thereabouts and has no product to resell. Awesome customer service job eBay. NEVER AGAIN. They have lost a 14 year customer over $70.00. Really smart business move.

I've used eBay gift cards to purchase coins for my coin collection for a couple of years now. It was a better deal than PayPal cash cards because eBay does not charge a fee for the card and PayPal cash cards cost 3.99 for the card itself before you load it. Was eBay losing huge sums of money from these transactions? Why did they change their policy? My coin collecting is just a hobby and a lot of the coins don't cost much so paying for the PayPal card cost of 3.99 can be a large percentage of the cost of the item. eBay card use for coins was great while it lasted, but now, for me, the restrictions are a colossal negative. I will now use whatever alternative to eBay that I can to buy my coins. I mean who made them the consumer police anyway. Their job is to run an Auction house. The other crap is up to the IRS.

We are Top Rated eBay sellers with approximately 1500 positive feedback ratings (100%) since we really turned our eBay account into a store just over a year ago. This is a family run side business that has done about 2500 transactions in the past year reselling clothing, games, electronics, collectibles, sporting goods etc. Store address is: **.
Concerning this item: **, a vintage Tommy Hilfiger Nautical Jacket, the buyer purchased on September 13, 2016, only to ask for a return a few weeks later. We do have a 30 day return policy, and as the buyer chose the reason: changed mind we were happy to grant him the return, minus our original shipping costs and a 15% restocking fee stated in the listing, and provided the item was shipped back to us. He shipped the item back at his cost, and it was unboxed on October 6th. The jacket was completely saturated with the smell of cigarette smoke and since we had never in any of our returns received an item back not in the condition as it was sent (fortunately), I didn't know what to do.
I called eBay within 5 minutes on unboxing, only to be told by a representative that my course of action was to contact the buyer and ask for him to send me a shipping label to return to him this now damaged jacket (implying the return would not be granted). I immediately messaged the buyer politely but firmly and received no response until I decided to ask eBay to step in on October 12th. I had unknowingly assumed that eBay would eventually close the return and refund the buyer anyway if I didn't take action, having now received the item, so this escalation was my attempt to have eBay step in and get some kind of response or acknowledgement out of the buyer that the item would not be refunded.
Less than 6 hours later, at 2:07AM EST on the morning of October 13th, 2016 (after eBay's stated business hours of 5AM-10PM PST), an email came in saying that eBay had found in favor of the buyer and not only had refunded him what he would have been given had the jacket been returned in the condition it was sent (which would have been approximately $80 reflecting a subtracting of my shipping cost and a 15% restocking fee) but that the full purchase amount of $107 and change had already been debited from my PayPal account and given back to the buyer.
I was shocked and horrified. When business hours opened I called eBay and twice spoke to their appeals department, once to a foreign office and once to a representative that was clearly American and located stateside. Ben, the stateside representative, and then Juleen (spelling?), his supervisor I eventually asked to be escalated to, proceeded to tell me that once a claim is escalated that (direct from Juleen's mouth) 9 times out of 10 eBay will find in favor of the buyer. Juleen said he understood my frustration but eBay has no way of knowing whether or not the buyer damaged the item since the buyer had failed (declined) to respond to my October 6th message.
To make matters worse, because I escalated the claim and lost, a defect strike was now charged to my previously unblemished account. I am out $107, left with a jacket that has now been significantly damaged (I should note that it has a delicate lining that will be ruined should we wash it with the necessary vinegar that may or may not remove the cigarette smell) and a strike on my eBay account.
I pleaded with Ben and Juleen to consider our long history of granting returns and successfully resolving issues with customers, of the thousands of dollars in fees we had produced for eBay this year alone, and the unblemished feedback record. While they would concede the point when I asked them to reason with me as fellow human beings, they claimed their hands were tied and that my only recourse was to try and get the buyer to respond in a message that he had in fact smoked in the jacket thereby making an appeal to eBay a possibility.
Sellers beware. You are on your own. Though eBay has an official item condition policy for returns, today has proven there is no way to enforce it on their end. Bad buyer behavior is not only rewarded, not only incentivized, but even aggressive and vindictive in that you will end up with a strike should you appeal. I will continue to sell on eBay. Truth is, we still make money. Yes there is a cost of doing business. I never expected, however, that it would hurt like it did today.

eBay closed my selling account because of the new policies. My seller performance dropped in 2 weeks from high rated to below standard. I received in 1 month more cases than in 4 months before. It looks like a lot of buyers opens cases instead of contacting me. What is going on? I did not change anything. My feed back is great. I also know that this happened with more sellers on eBay recently and there are more to come. I have spoken with 5 account specialists after they closed my account and finally it was clear why eBay restricted me. I cannot sell anymore on eBay.
Honestly, after one week without eBay I feel good. It's over. All the rubbish I received from eBay, all the confusion from eBay, and not to forget PayPal limits. Never do business again on eBay or with PayPal. But it is not over yet. All my open requests are closed by eBay, every customer who opened a request received a full refund. Even the customers who received their product received a full refund!! What happens is that eBay opens cases so every request becomes a case. When I look at the cases I see, "You opened a case"! Well I did not! I have already received 10 messages from eBay saying: eBay Customer Support made a decision. Decision: This case has been decided in the buyer's favor.
Finally a account specialist told me that I was not protected anymore, so every customer who opens a request, gets a full refund. Every sale I made was before they shut my selling account down so I was protected! But it is eBay and eBay has its own rules. I`m thinking of hiring a lawyer and I know that I am not the only one. On the other hand, my loss is about 200-300$ and I'm pretty sure that a lawyer will cost me much more. So if every seller on eBay thinks the same, it will always be the same. Sellers on eBay are not more than payers and if a seller stops, they have plenty other sellers to take over.
EBay, with all the drop shippers is very expensive for customers. eBay wants to decrease the number of drop shippers by killing them. I cannot imagine that it is allowed what eBay is doing. I cannot imagine that the cooperation between eBay and PayPal is legal. Sellers don't have a choice and, told by a few account specialists, "PayPal knows exact what your eBay account is". eBay knows exact what your PayPal account is. Is this legal???

I spent nearly 5 hours on the phone with them today to try and get them to assist me in working with the buyer to reach an amicable resolution and they would not do anything except "close" the sale which would have put the money I should receive in jeopardy. I am definitely seeing a trend building up once eBay change their return and performance policy. I read over 20 reviews, and in all these reviews I find a common theme that has happened to me as well. After investing all of money to build my own website on eBay platform, it is time to move on, as I have been losing too much money on fraudulent returns. I am in agreement with all the other negative reviews about eBay's new policies which are hurting sellers. I have bought and sold on eBay for more than 17 years. I have always been a highly-rated seller until recently. The only problems I have encountered over the years is with the few consumers who refuse to take any responsibility on their part of the transaction. With eBay policies now, it's even worse letting consumers run rampant over sellers.
I have had more bad episodes in the first 6 months of this year, than I have had in all the other years I have dealt with eBay. It is both frustrating, and sad. I am now being blocked from posting any new listings, getting this message when I try: "Your limits can't be increased at this time because your seller performance is below standard." The reason I am all of a sudden below standard is the new policies.
The only way that any of the new policies would make sense is if eBay were strictly a "retail" site, which it is not. Forcing small time sellers to absorb costs of returns, wasted time, bad feedback from scammers, promising one-day handling, etc., etc. It's ridiculous. eBay wants all these "new" shoppers, but they must realize if they do not have people selling, there can be no buyers. I am hoping that some of the other selling sites are taking note, and doing whatever they can to get new business from all the people fleeing eBay. I have already started doing research on other sites to sell on.

I have been a long time eBay user, and have loved them for years. However within the last couple years I have noticed a HUGE increase of 'scam sellers' on the site. In the past 2 years I have been sold: 1. A laptop that was cracked and malfunctioning. 2. A music box that didn't work. 3. Defective dvds. 4. MANY items from Chinese sellers that were of unbelievably poor quality. 5. Used/non-working cell phone batteries advertised as "new." There have been other things but I can't list them all.
It seems like people are using eBay to unload garbage on consumers, that they are unable to sell in shops because of their defects. And you can't rely on eBay's feedback either, as most of these sellers have good feedback. They know some way of getting the negatives removed from their feedback page by contacting eBay. As far as the return policy goes, it is hit or miss. I have been able to retrieve my money back at times, but other times eBay has allowed crooks to take my money. Ebay can be a good place to find rare items that you cannot find anywhere else. Unfortunately dishonest sellers have made it a very risky place to shop. Proceed at your own risk.

I had already taken him to 2 other vets and they said that everything was fine. Well it wasn't fine. He was not eating and he was growing weaker by the moment. The last vet told me to come back on the 14th and he would do blood work. The blood work would have been done that day but I couldn't afford it. All night Friday and all day Saturday I was so grief stricken and I truly believed that I was going to find Spirit dead in the hotel room.
Well that Saturday night I received a message on ebay from a buyer named crustyrusty2016. She wanted a dress that was listed for $225.00 and I listed that I would not be taking any offers. Well her email said that if I let her have the dress for $175 that she would pay immediately. I did not want to accept the offer but I had no other choice because I needed the money for Spirits blood tests. And after having an ebay manager tell PayPal that I had met all the requirements and that I should be receiving my money immediately the day before I did not think there would be a problem. Well after Crustyrusty purchased the dress I called PayPal to make sure that I had access to the funds and they said no.
PayPal had spoken with ebay the day before and I thought everything was cleared up. So I could not use the money crustyrusty2016 had paid PayPal and I was really going crazy because #1 I was slowly watching my best friend in this world die and #2 I had to deal with this same thing the day before and the money had gotten released. Well I was desperate. There was a matching tech purse that went with the dress but I had it listed separately. Well as soon as Crustyrusty2016 found that out she wanted it. And I told her that if she would call PayPal and tell them that it is okay to release my funds I would just include the purse in the sale and she agreed to do it tomorrow which was Sunday.
Well I never heard from her on Sunday and I realized that she was not a woman of her word so I had to totally break down and ask my brother with whom I had lost complete contact with for the money for the blood test. He agreed. On Monday I was heading out of the room with Spirit and I received a message from Crustyrusty2016 that she spoke with PayPal that morning and they said that I would be getting the money by that evening. Well right away I knew she was lying. I had another woman call on another purchase and PayPal told her that there was absolutely nothing that she could do. Also the agreement with Crustyrusty 2016 was that she get ahold of PayPal on Sunday but she was just too busy. So because of the fact that she put it off and that she was lying I decided that she would not receive the tech purse.
At 12:54 am on March 14th, 2016 my beloved Spirit was put to sleep and from the stress of it all I thought I was losing my mind. I had thought about just cancelling the order with Crustyrusty but I sent her the dress anyway. Three days later I received a call from her and she was very crazy and mad because she had not received the tech purse with the dress and I told her that first off she did not purchase it and secondly that she lied and did not follow through with what we agreed on.
Later I received an email from ebay that she was returning the dress on the basis that it was missing parts. Well ebay allowed her to have the refund but they switched it to the fact that the dress wasnt as described. I was livid. I knew exactly what she was doing. She was trying to manipulate me into giving her the tech purse so that I would not have that strike against me. Well I did not budge. I was going through one of the hardest times in my life and both ebay and Crustyrusty were making my life worse. And the thing that really got me is that crustyrusty2016 knew that my cat died but instead of showing any compassion she did the opposite and chose to make my life very hard.
Finally one of the ebay people that answers the phone and works with people told me to give her back the $175 and then she would have to ship the dress to me. Well get this... I received a package from her and it was totally empty. My father was with me when I got the empty package. I was beyond livid and I called up ebay to tell them and the lady told me to call the police so I did. Also ebay started telling me that you never give the money back before you get the item. Duh!! But I specifically told to do so and then all of a sudden eBay denies everything. I called the police and he told me that it sounded like ebay was up to something and I showed him the empty package and gave him crustyrusty2016's name and number and that was the last I heard from him.
But I was beyond angry and embarrassed about this whole thing so I sent crustyrusty2016 a message on ebay and told her exactly what I thought of her. Well she turned it over to ebay and ebay charged me for violating one of their policies and then they suspended me forever. And this witch crustyrusty2016 with whom has the $300 dress and got her $175 back is still on ebay buying and selling like nothing has ever happened. In fact Ebay closed my account and wouldnt even let me cancel the store apps I had and I'm still paying for them. And they are not straight with me at all about what is going on. But obviously they see this crustyrusty2016 as the victim and that is not right or fair. By the way when all this was going on her username was crustyrusty something but recently I learned that she still is indeed on ebay and that crustyrusty2016 is her new username.
The ONLY thing I did that was wrong was send her an angry message on ebay and thats it. But I have a feeling that something else is going on and I think I have the right to know. That woman ripped me off, got her money back because ebay told me to give her money back and she's sitting like a princess while both she and ebay have committed character assassination and honestly with all the trauma I went through I finally had it and tried to commit suicide. The stress was just too much and the powerlessness I felt was so overwhelming. I don't want anybody else going through this so please go elsewhere. Ebay is not worth it. Honestly they almost killed me and I take that very seriously!!

I don't even know where to start. I've had so many terrible experiences with eBay - I just hope another honest and ethical competitor comes along soon because I love the idea behind eBay but the people running the show clearly care nothing for their consumers and hopefully will reap what they sow. My latest example: I placed an order on 9/13/16. Six days later I noticed it hadn't been shipped yet so I contacted the seller who said he/she would send the tracking number later that day. I never heard back from them. On 9/27/16 I opened a case requesting a refund for an item not received and left the appropriate, negative feedback.
The next day the seller wrote back that they would be shipping the item. I responded that that was unacceptable and that I had requested a refund. They commented that they would issue the refund anyway and that I should just keep the item. The seller never issued the refund and I noticed that the feedback I had left had a positive, not negative rating. I contacted eBay to address both issues; they said that now that the seller had shipped the item I had to just wait for it and try to do a return at a later date (are you kidding me), and that they could do nothing about the feedback rating. I asked for a supervisor, was put on an extremely long hold, then told they were all on a call and that I would get a call back at a later time.
The next day a supervisor called and regurgitated the same things the first (very rude) customer service rep originally said and could do nothing to help with either issue. I asked how to escalate the issue and was given an 800 number to the executive offices. I tried to call the number only to find that it was no longer functional (eBay message stated that it was no longer in use). I then opened a Better Business Bureau complaint and lo and behold, the person who responded basically parroted what the previous two reps said and basically apologized that she could not help at all. DISGUSTING way to treat their customers. I have always done honest business with eBay as both a buyer and seller and they continue to show just how little they value that relationship.
Updated on 12/03/2016: A buyer purchased a local pickup only item and then requested that I cancel it since the time for him to cancel had already passed (Ebay then advised me directly to do so). I cancelled the item which generated the Paypal return THROUGH EBAY. Paypal said the refund transaction went through successfully (at a cost to me).
I then continued to receive notifications from Ebay that I needed to refund the buyer. I spoke with Ebay back on 11/23, explaining that I refunded the buyer on 11/16 but that the system was still telling me that the refund hadn't been issued. They said the buyer had to acknowledge receipt but that if he didn't the case would be closed on 11/27 and I would not be bothered anymore (that did not happen). I emailed the buyer asking him to acknowledge receipt (he was the one who requested the cancellation in the first place!). He did not respond and now, on 12/3, I received an email saying the cancellation didn't go through because I did not issue the refund. This is highly unethical and action should be taken against Ebay.

I recently bought what I thought would be 2 Algae scrubber covers (saltwater aquarium product) for 12.99 from someone on eBay, and what I received was just one and I was shocked to find out it was so badly made it wasn't worth one dollar. So I tried to contact the seller and there now seems to be no way to do that directly (no phone or email address on eBay policy) so I tried to contact eBay. I sent a message asking them to call me on their so called help/contact/ resolution page. I know they have my correct phone number because they called me in the past but all I got was a no reply email (I cannot use this email to reply to them) stating that they tried to call me.
However that is a downright lie because my phone is fully charged and is only a foot away so I would have heard it and right after I received the email I received a call from a friend so I know it was on and working at the time. However they told me that they tried and couldn't get through and now it seems everything on the web site is conveniently down again. If that was the truth then why didn't they ask me to resend them my number or ask me to call them. This company not only doesn't care about the seller anymore it also doesn't give a damn about the buyer either. This company is a pirate company like bootleg movie companies and should be shut down for good.

There is absolutely no comprehension from this company as to what customer service actually is. The most nightmare experience any shopper can have now is to use eBay and for online purchases. The likelihood now in the majority of cases is that the goods you pay for rarely materialize, and even if and when they do, they are rarely are they as described on the website. Electrical items in particular are a major fraud problem. Often if these are new they are imported copies that have never passed any European safety standards, and if you are considering buying second hand or vintage electrical items, these are generally goods which have previously been disposed of and/or salvaged from a skip or reclamation unit.
Individual sellers who often list items in an online auction frequently use friends and relatives to bid up the price of the goods they are trying to sell and this activity is well known to eBay, but is also something which they will happily turn a blind eye because their business is reliant on the final end action value of the item. Ebay claim to have a buyer guarantee to get your money back should problems arise with a purchase, but in order to get any redress, even after weeks of waiting for a refund, both eBay and PayPal rules that you firstly have to pay out even MORE money at your own cost by returning the known fake items back to the criminals where often these goods are again advertised on a different eBay owned website called Gumtree.
And if for example under the eBay terms and conditions in order to even get a refund the cost of returning the fraudulent items back by a tracked and signed for courier service is more than the actual item originally cost, or is perhaps especially weighty or even from another country then you will lose a huge amount of money either way even with the offer of 'have postage on us' from PayPal which is only a maximum of fifteen pounds. The fraudulent sellers meanwhile continue trading quite happily on the eBay website.
The days of finding a bargain on this type of auction website are well and truly over and the risks are far too high at the end of the day to make this a viable online shopping experience. When you take into account the excessive and over inflated seller costs of the initial postage, the disappointment of not receiving what you have ordered or in addition, when the item is not as even described if and when it does arrive, then perhaps there are much better and cheaper shopping experiences to be found elsewhere.

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! eBay is TERRIBLE for sellers. You have NO protection; they can stiff you for $1000s of dollars. I sold a $1000 exhaust and paid $75 to ship it. The buyer did not read the listing, his motorcycle is a different year, he found a way to get eBay to force a return and force me to pay for another $75 for return shipping. eBay policies side with the buyer to screw the seller. eBay did not reach out to me for any information and made the “permanent” decision in the buyer’s favor. I even called eBay proactively before contacting the buyer and they said it would go in my favor.
In addition, I received the exhaust back damaged by the buyer and eBay states “there is no coverage for that”. They insist I have to provide a full refund. So a buyer can buy something without doing due diligence by not reading the ad and looking at the pictures, return the item damaged, and eBay will still force a refund to the buyer. They can take your money for shipping for the item and force you to pay for shipping it back. If you don’t, they will take your money as a refund to the buyer and the buyer gets to keep the item.

I contacted the seller, and told me to check with my neighbor, friend or check with local mail office like it's not their responsibility anymore after the item is sent out. If I have to go through so much hassle to deal with this why would I even want to order at the first place.
The seller also mentioned if someone already signed for me? They've tracked my item was left at the front door, and how could they left at the front door if it requires my signature. They gave me a run around, and obviously didn't want to refund my money. I ordered ton of stuffs on eBay and very accurate, but this time is very frustrated. I opened a case and eBay quickly decided to take the seller's side, and not refund my money. The money back guaranteed from eBay is not truth, if the item is lost or stolen, you won't get your money back. I will stick with Amazon from now on.

I am very unhappy with my purchase of a trumpet from elderarrows through eBay. I needed to buy a trumpet for my son who wanted to join the band. I needed it before Sept 15, Thursday, for his 2nd band class. I’ve made bids to buy other trumpets but didn’t win and I was watching other trumpets for sale including the one for sale by elderarrows. The item for sale is a used trumpet and its case. There is no mouthpiece included. The item was advertised as used and is supposed to be "An item that has been used previously. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. This item may be a floor model or store return that has been used."
Elderarrows has a high-rating in eBay and I thought that would be a good sign to buy from this seller. Since this seller has a high rating and that eBay has a guarantee, I decided to buy. Before making an offer, I asked elderarrows if the trumpet is functional, especially if the valves and slides work. The seller responded that the slides and valves work well but probably needs service before use. I made an offer to buy for $170 on Sept 8th and paid immediately through PayPal. The item arrived on Sept 16, Friday, a day after my son’s class and 8 days since I paid for it.
When my son finally got to the band class on Sept 22nd, the trumpet does not work. I don’t know how the seller said the trumpet works, especially valves and slides, because you cannot even blow into the trumpet. The band teacher had to look into the main pipe of the trumpet and said something is stuck inside it that stops the air from flowing. The trumpet is not working if the air does not flow through it!! I contacted elderarrows and the seller said they are unaware of the problem. My question is, how can they mark an item as used (supposed to be usable and functional) if they don’t know if it works? If they don’t know if it works, shouldn’t they advertise it as ‘for parts only’? I know my son needed a trumpet and I was told that the music shops are very busy at this time. I cannot afford to buy another trumpet especially with the time constraint.
I paid to have the trumpet fixed and the shop was able to take out a clear/silicon looking item from inside the trumpet. My guess was that it was a hearing plug but I am not sure. After paying $80 and buying a mouthpiece for $50+, I ended up paying $300 for the trumpet. I knew there were other trumpets for sale that were marked as immaculate that were available to buy at a lower price. But I am now stuck with this one at a more expensive price. I opened a case with eBay but eBay does not want to refund my purchase because the trumpet has been changed.
What am I supposed to do? Wait for their 30 days or so to determine what to do with the trumpet? I did not buy the item because I just fancy it; I bought it because I needed it. Anyway, to make a long story short, I will not buy from eBay again and I do not trust elderarrows when they say an item is used and functional. Maybe I’ll close my PayPal account too since they are owned by eBay. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED.

At first the seller denied receiving this return so I left a negative feedback. She then twice offered to refund but only on condition that I remove the negative feedback - this amounts to blackmail and surely not something eBay would condone - they do! They denied my refund because I did not have a tracking number (not possible with first class post) and removed negative feedback, encouraging seller to be dishonest again to another unsuspecting purchaser. She was then able to resell the item making double the profit, which means even more fees for eBay! Obviously the fees obtained by this seller is more important than their customers or in fact honesty. Do not expect any support from eBay, they do not care about customers only making money, even if it is dishonestly.

If you are looking for a place to sell items and get ripped off at the same time, eBay is your best option. I have been selling on eBay for close to ten years, off and on. I have a perfect feedback score (close to 1500) and 5 stars for items as described. BUT, as we all know, if a buyer decides to scam you, as a seller, there is no recourse through eBay. They will inevitably TAKE SAID BUYER'S SIDE EVERY TIME!!! I suppose I should actually be grateful that most buyers, thus far have been honest. Otherwise I would have really been up that creek long ago.
I won't go into a great amount of detail but a buyer has decided that the pants I sold her are not the brand stated, which they are. She even went so far as to apparently roll these pants in a dog bed or large pile of fur to make sure that eBay sees that I sent her garbage! BTW I have no furry pets, my turtle and tortoise don't really shed much fur! So after wasting my breath with eBay, needless to say the buyer has ruined my ratings, which in turn raises my fees as a seller. I have deleted all listings and am in the process of quitting eBay, COMPLETELY, as a seller AND a buyer. PLEASE HEED MY ADVICE and stay away from selling on eBay, especially DO NOT sell high value items as buyers can, and will claim item not as described or fraud to KEEP the item AND get money back! eBay is a bag of **! eBay has really changed significantly over the years, all in an effort to not only make it profitable, but also to ensure it is a marketplace where buyers are not deceived by seller tactics. When I say sellers, I mean sellers from first time to mega. Particularly with regard to used item purchases. I can say 97% did not have damage properly disclosed or photographed in the listing. By this I mean any damage to an item that has an effect on its value, its aesthetics, it's usability, or its remaining life. eBay sellers excel at photographing an item from an angle that doesn't show damage. eBay sellers excel at posting one photo of an item and claiming it is in mint condition, yet when you receive the item, you find out why another side is not shown. This is not only deceitful, it is fraud. It is rampant on eBay. Counterfeits of anything are plenty on eBay. If they policed their ads, they could find them easily.
eBay's feedback system is moronic. Think about it. Seller A posts positive feedback for Buyer B. Now, let's see. I am a eBay seller. Buyer B just bought a toaster from me. Why should I waste my time bothering with feedback for some who bought a toaster? What relevance is that information anyone? Why does anyone care? It is the most stupid, illogical waste of technology resources even tracking that information.
Flip side of the coin? Buyers should be required to post feedback on a transaction. This information is relevant and useful. Feedback for buyers needs radio button options for buyer satisfaction, dissatisfaction, seller failing to disclose material damage, seller intentionally hiding damage by not disclosing in description or photos, etc. etc. This information is relevant to buyers, not what the current system offers buyers. It would be easy to have a seller score like a FICO score, where a buyer can see for a particular seller how many items were sold where damage was not disclosed in listing, whether item shipped within seller's stated shipping time frame, whether you received an unapproved substitution, and on and on.
Until eBay does a better job of protecting buyers from deceitful sellers, I am going to cut back substantially on my eBay purchases. Two items I bought last week ($150+ ) had undisclosed damage on them. I am tired of eBay making it so easy for sellers to rip off buyers. I am tired of paying eBay (yes, I, the buyer, am paying the fee. Without me, eBay and seller get nothing) a fee to turn around and get screwed by the multitude of dishonest sellers that thrive on eBay. Thanks eBay for screwing me over on my last two purchases and protecting your sellers by not giving me an avenue to warn potential buyers about sellers who are not honest in their listings. By not giving buyers a way to truly expose sellers who use deception in their listings, eBay itself is part of each deceptive sellers scam.
Buyers need a way to prominently tell other buyers of their true shopping experience, not the lame system eBay currently has in place. If a sellers' listing is deceptive, then that seller needs to be identified as a dishonest seller. What's wrong with sellers being required to be 100% honest in their listings? The seller has total control over content, so make sellers accountable, such as calling a spade a spade. If damage isn't disclosed by seller, let people know. Let people be advised of the deceitful tactics of sellers and call it what it is deceit and fraud. Don't sugarcoat it with terms like "accuracy". eBay needs to come to reality. Deceit and inaccuracy are synonymous only in eBay's world. Out here in the real world, buyers want to know who is honest and who isn't.

So gave a full refund, with a polite note explaining that I was uncomfortable with his feedback, blocked him as a bidder & offered the item to the previous bidder. 5 minutes later NEGATIVE, SCAVING, FURIOUS FEEDBACK, called eBay, to get it reviewed and removed as promised - oh no, but if that was his experience he has every right to leave this Feedback and we are not going to remove it. eBay you are the worthless scum of the earth - but you own the market you set of **.

I am absolutely dissatisfied with selling on eBay. First of all, you can sell only almost for nothing the lowest imaginable cost and when you get eBay fees and PayPal fees deducted you get nothing at all! Open your eyes! eBay support team is no use at all. They don't even try to investigate the matter and continue sending to you the same template answers word by word giving even wrong information about the date of the listing that caused problem and have no idea what was wrong with it that it was removed and my account banned forever. The only answer you get in each email is that this is permanent decision. So I did investigation myself. I listed my item as usual with photos and full description and got the confirmation email with a gallery photo in it. The next morning I found 2 emails saying that I don't have photos in my listing and 2-d saying that I am indefinitely restricted in selling in this category. Can you imagine my shock?
Now it is so funny really to make them see that I have as a proof the email confirming my listing that it had all the photos and the gallery photo to make them acknowledge that there was a technical mistake that had no connection to me. I feel like talking to the wall! I got NO SUPPORT! NO EXPLANATION! NO HELP! Amazingly unhelpful and blind customer service! And how funny they don't give you their full names. Only Simon **, Janey ** so you cannot even identify them.

I bought an Infini Empreinte Speedy 30 at the Louis Vuitton store. Last year I sold this purse to a buyer on Tradesy. My buyer sold this bag on the resale market that led to Smiley7938 getting this bag. She impersonated me by showing a receipt with my name on it and falsely saying she is the original owner of the bag. The seller is committing fraud by pretending to be me on her listing on eBay. In addition, she lied to her buyers to avoid them knowing the bag has been owned by other people before them.
This seller is unethical. My name and original owner needs to be removed from her listing. It is not fair to the buyers and me for my name to be tied to her sale. Why can’t she use her own name to sell her bag? She has broken my privacy by using my name without my permission. I have contacted the seller repeatedly to remove my name from her listing and she has refused to do the right thing. eBay needs to remove my name off her listing because Smiley7938, their member, refused to herself.

FedEx lost a package I sent through eBay shipping and eBay and FedEx refuses to pay for a lost package. Since eBay and PayPal are separate companies how can eBay freeze my PayPal account??? eBay admits it is more concerned about keeping buyers rather than sellers and terminated me for not selling enough and I have a letter from eBay to prove it. Without sellers there is nothing to buy!!! eBay is a big rip off of sellers' money, due to the loss of the sale/money and the parts you lose. Someone should file a class action law suit against them. I would be happy to join them since there are so many, just here on this site alone.

If you have ever thought of selling on eBay you better be ready to get taken by customers and eBay themselves. Let say you sell an item on eBay that is a $ 1,000.00 eBay takes about 12% of the total amount of the sale including any freight charges which in my business is a little more than I will profit on the transaction will ALL the risk of the buyer not cancelling their credit card charges which happens more than you think and PayPal loves it because they get to hold on to your money as long as the case is open. I have been selling on eBay for about 12 years and am getting very sick of them not caring one bit about the sellers.
In the online business if you are selling higher dollar amounts worth of product you need to be ready to lose a lot of cases and $. In some case they let the buyer keep the product and the money, so if you do not have deep pockets and a high threshold for being powerless to outcome of these losses you should only sell on your own website and avoid the ridiculous fees you have to pay eBay. Happy selling!!!

First time purchase from eBay (because the item was sold out on Amazon). Although being a bit skeptical I looked at the reviews from the seller and thought to myself "Ok looks legit. I'll give it a go." Besides paying for the item I had to pay another fee for the global shipping company. Almost two months later I haven't received my item. Filed a complaint, opened a case, called countless occasions, contacted shipping courier, contacted seller, but all I got was some shipping info saying that my package was sent to an address in New Jersey. I opened a new case in PayPal and it's the same issues. They all playing a part in one big scam. I feel really cheated and angry. I wish I had prior knowledge about their scams before my purchase. I will NEVER buy from eBay and also I would warn everyone I know not to buy from them. Stick to Amazon. Been shopping there for years and I have never had a problem.

I recently purchased an item on Ebay my past purchases have gone well. On my last purchase the seller managed to string me along in excess of 6 weeks well exceeding the time frame for leaving feedback to his account. The seller does not respond to me now. Time frames have been exceeded. Ebay is not flexible in allowing feedback to this persons account as there is a 30 day window. Not knowing this I accepted a delivery time of 4-6 weeks and am not able to leave feedback in the hope to prevent this person from scamming someone else.
I will be cancelling my Ebay and PayPal accounts and hopefully proceed with online purchases more carefully in the future. Ebays money back guarantee has such a short window that I think only 15% of items ordered would be shipped and received within this period. In trying to get a refund from PayPal I am now expected to file police reports and do the walking for them. Ebay was not helpful in this or assisting me in any way to get my refund of $1,000.

I purchased an item that was sent USPS 2nd day Express. The item not delivered in time. This qualifies for a refund of all postage. The seller refused to refund this postage so I processed a claim to return the item. Ebay found in the seller's favor so I processed an appeal. After several calls to eBay's Help no. they told me to send the item back and I did. Now eBay refunds me for the item plus postage but I have to pay for shipping to send it back. Talk about rewarding a seller who won't cooperate. He gets to keep $386.98 and $49.25 postage that he got back for USPS, plus he gets the item back, and the feedback that I gave seller gets removed by eBay.

Just had a very unsavory experience with eBay after listing and selling a high ticket item a couple of months ago. I listed a compressor in May which sold for $3500 to a buyer in California. I hired a freight company for $755, crated the unit and shipped it out a few days later. The freight company completely botched the shipment, uncrating the unit and "losing" some of the merchandise before it arrived in CA. The buyer obviously rejected the shipment due to its condition and I received an email that it was rejected and would be sent back to me. Things got progressively worse with that whole ordeal and I barely got back half of the sell price from the company's insurance, but that's a different story. Meanwhile, the buyer asked for a refund, understandably. However, I never received any explanation or photos or anything from the buyer, the freight company or eBay; all I knew at this point was that the shipment was rejected.
I wanted to make sure that I wasn't just losing the sale because of buyer's remorse so I asked the buyer to wait until I received the shipment back so I could verify any issues first hand. That didn't sit well with him so he opened a complaint with eBay. I was promptly told by one of their reps that I needed to issue the refund right away, within 5 days. I called eBay customer service to explain the situation and the rep I spoke with understood but said that they would probably go ahead and issue the refund immediately and that I would have to reimburse them afterward. The problem was that it took over 2 weeks for the shipment to be returned to me. So when it finally showed up and I saw that the crating was missing and that half of the merchandise was also missing I immediately added funds to my PayPal account for eBay to draw from and let them know. I also asked for my seller fees to be reimbursed at that time.
I was informed that I had to wait until the buyer's refund was posted and my payment went through before I could get those fees refunded. So I tried again a couple weeks later only to have eBay tell me I had a $128 balance due on my account that had to be paid before I could get my refund. I asked if they could just deduct that from the $450 they owed me for the listing fee and they said no, I had to pay my portion first. Well, I finally got around to paying it this week after wrangling with them ad nauseum over this. When I called today for my refund of $450+ I was sent through 3 levels of support where I had to explain the situation over and over again until I finally got to someone who could make a decision. Lo and behold, I find out that eBay will NOT refund my seller's fees because they had to issue the refund rather than me doing it.
I explained again what happened and the fact that I was never informed of this policy by their rep but apparently that's their policy and she wouldn't budge. So I'm out the $450 for an item that didn't sell and all this multi-gazillion-dollar company can say is "sorry", I should have read the fine print. $450 may not be much to them but it's a lot to me and I really did nothing wrong to merit this injustice. I simply trusted some large companies to do the right thing and ended up getting screwed in the process. Very disappointing eBay (and FreightPros). I'll never be back. You've lost a customer for good because of your unreasonable behavior. Yes, I technically should have know this but had they simply explained that to me before issuing the buyer's refund this would have turned out very differently. Goodbye and good riddance. Add me to your long list of angry customers.
