I'm still trying to get my money back for a return I initiated a month ago. Three calls to customer service, blown off every time. I bought 8 plates and the quality was poor so I began a return. After one month I have only been refunded for half of the items and I've had to invest substantial time and effort getting that. Quality of merchandise was poor and customer service ensures I won't be back and I'd advise you to consider the accurate negative reviews before ordering anything.

Horrible customer service experience. Order was cancelled multiple times after I attempted to submit it. I get an email notification each time saying nothing about what made the order a cancellation. Mind you I haven’t ordered from them online in over 10 years so why would my account be flagged? Also never did a return on their website either? When I try to get help I use the chat and I waited 72 hours and never got a response. So I messaged again because you can’t get anyone on the phone and they told me because I didn’t wait 72 hours for the last response I am basically at square one and have to wait another 72 hours? This is by far the worst customer service experience even worse than Xfinity by far and that is really saying something.

I used to have amazing customer service with Anthropologie but I had, hands down, the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life today. I ordered an item online, but it arrived damaged. I called and waited over an hour to speak with a representative. The representative told me that she would create a code for me and would email it to me. After waiting most of the day, I never received the code.
I had to call back again and waited for another over 45 minutes to speak to someone. Again, I explained that I received a damaged item, called earlier, but never received a return QR code that I was promised. The representative told me that she would email me the code. I asked if I could stay on the phone with her until I received the code. 5 minutes later still no code so she says she will resend. Finally resends me the code, I open it with her on the phone to find that being charged a return fee!?!?
For returning an item I wanted but received damaged that they no longer have in stock! How is this any of my fault?!? So as politely as I could I say “Maybe I’m reading this wrong but I think there is a return fee here?” The associate, while smacking gum or eating who knows says “You probably are.” I was shocked so I repeated, “Actually I’m pretty sure there is a return fee here!” She looks at it and says, "Ok, I’ve waived it for you." So I ask “How much will my return balance be” to which she says some weird number and I ask again saying that doesn’t make sense. She responds by telling me that she’s already closed my window and was estimating and just not worry about it.
I’m absolutely horrified how this all went down. So incredibly unprofessional and rude! I used to love Anthropologie. I don’t think I’ll be shopping here any longer. I still don’t even know what my total will be. Guess I’ll mail my damaged items back and hope for the best. But I don’t trust them anymore. It’s just not worth my time any longer. Always killed 2 hours for like $70?!? What a joke!

Anthropologie has the absolute WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I feel so badly for the staff there whose hands are completely tied due to horrible systems to support customers. It’s absolutely not the fault of the staff at all. Anthropologie clearly deliberately gives them nothing to work with to support their customers.
I had my cart full with items on sale and excitedly went to purchase them only to have the site crash numerous times. When I called in I was on hold for some time until it just disconnected the call completely. When I immediately called back they were closed. The next day they would not honour the sale and seemed to have no ability to put me in touch with management. Such a frustrating experience. I’m so disappointed and upset.

I would give zero stars if I can. These are the most incompetent sales people I have ever dealt with. They could not even tell me when my refund was processed. I spoke to a Renie ** at the Coral Gables store and she was so useless, I am not surprised that she had no clue what is going on with my refund. Anthropologie has lost me as a customer for life. I cannot deal with stupid people. Anthropologie should make all the salespeople at the Merrick Park Mall in Coral Gables FL enroll in customer service classes. What a waste of my time talking to them.

I have never in all my years of shopping experienced customer service in the way I did from this company. I work in retail and when an item isn’t in stock we honor the sale price for when the item is back in stock. Spent over $200 dollars and now they have me by the neck bc I need one letter to complete a gift. So I was told I have to basically hope for it to still be on sale or pay full price. This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever experienced. After this they’ve lost a customer and I will never recommend their site to anyone.

They cancel orders ALL the time. 50% of what I order get canceled.. Never had this happen only from this company. Also they send USED, WORN, DAMAGED items as well. They do not even check the items they send to you. Then charge to return these damaged used items. No quality control..inventory control or inspection of items. Pretty poor service all around.

An item I purchased online was on backorder and after a few months I realized that I never received the item ($9.95). I reached out via the customer service toll free number and I was advised that customer support would get back with me via email. The item shows in their system that it was never delivered and the customer support email advised that they cannot give me a refund due to it being over 30 days. What? The item was backordered for more than 30 days and I never received it. Maybe their customer support is now AI generated? Terrible!!!

My experience has been horrible with Anthropologie. I have had 2 orders that were delivered partially missing items. I had a dress set that one half of the outfit was delivered. I submitted a claim, contacted customer service through chat and calls, I got no response on the claim for a week and no response on chat, waited on hold for over an hour almost every day, no call back. Finally got through on day 6. I was told: "We can't help you get it at a nearby store. We can't get it to you in time for your trip. We can't refund you and see if it's available in a nearby store. Basically, yes we dropped the ball, didn't deliver the order correctly, didn't return your calls and emails and claims, and we can't help you fix it." For the amount of money you’re paying, go somewhere else.

They used to have some of The best customer service around. It has been so terrible lately. It’s a disgrace. Especially being with a price of their merchandise. I’ve been shopping here for over 30+ years and it has gone downhill. They don’t even offer discounts anymore to perks members! If you need to actually speak to a human on the phone, good luck. Their customer service used to be so good. However, in the last year, I have encountered nothing but frustration. You will get nowhere via email, so don’t even try. If you want to try and get in touch with a human being, be prepared to be on hold for two hours. They are extremely stingy with coupons, don’t even want to give out the ones that have been earned by reviews or birthdays, and their sales are few and far between. The quality of clothing has gone down the tubes as they try to reach a younger market. Find somewhere else to shop if you want a good experience. I hope you’re paying attention, Anthro!

I’ve been a long time fan of Anthro, but I won’t be shopping here again! I ordered a coat online. Then decided to exchange for a smaller size, so I made the exchange online. No shipping label was sent for this exchange like they said it would be, so I reached out and was told it’d be emailed to me within 72 hours. Nothing. I returned the coat to the store. Still haven’t received the new size, as it hasn’t even shipped yet (and it’s now sold out online). Still no response from customer service, just “wait 72 hours” every time I try. Now I’ll have to dispute with my credit card because they charged me for both coats, and I have neither one. I will never shop here again and will warn everyone else to stay away, too.

Whoever is in charge of this "company's" customer service should be fired. I have been dealing with a missing package for two weeks now. I decided today to actually speak with a rep and not deal with the chat box as I had done twice. Once I shared all the details with the service rep "Dave", he proceeded to scold me for not being patient while waiting on the email confirming the error and when to expect my package. Instead of offering a discount or an apology, I got a snippy response. I have been a loyal customer for quite some time and this experience is putting that in jeopardy. I also suggest using a different delivery service.

I used to love Anthro but over the years my customer experience has steadily declined in particular with ordering online. My most recent debacle involves ordering a shirt and receiving a crocheted dress instead of the tee which now has gone out of stock so it cannot be reordered. I requested a return label at their expense as this is their mistake not mine and was told I would receive an email in 72 hours after submitting photographs to document their error. It has not been 4 days and I haven't heard anything from them. I should have known better. Even as I was placing the order I knew there was no way it would be a smooth transaction. It's just not worth the time, hassle and effort involved.

Do not order from Anthropologie. They are the most frustrating, unhelpful company to work with. It's difficult to actually talk to a human representative. My first experience wasn't awful. I ordered a $300+ dress and the quality was so cheap. I got a refund: no issue. My most recent experience, I ordered a dress months ago and they delivered a completely different dress but still charged me for the one I ordered. I start an exchange process, but they cancel my order. They still kept my money and both dresses. After weeks I was finally able to get a refund. Months later, they are charging me again!!!
I call and the representative says that they accidentally sent the dress to the wrong warehouse and it wasn't accounted for. However, he said everything has been fixed but it's been a week and I have received no confirmation email nor any refund. Anthropologie has been my worst online shopping experience. I don't recommend this company to anyone.

The delivery date came and went so I called and was told the shoes would arrive in 2-3 days. Still no delivery. I can see some tracking history of the package, online. It is saying delivery, today, 7/18/24 but the package is in Peru, IL which is 4+ hours from where I live. There is no way it is going to get to me on TODAY. When I called customer service about this she said "oh the package was delivered already this week". There has not been any delivery made to my house this week! Do not order from this company. Basically stole my $250. Ordered a pair of jeans on clearance which means final sale - not a problem as I know my size. Well … they shipped me a totally different size from what I ordered. Because they were final sale I can’t use the online returns process. I contacted customer service 3 times by phone, by email and by chat. Each time they said, "No problem- we will sort this out and contact you within 3 business days." Well I never heard from them again.
I also had to pay $30 in customs charges on top of that to pick up the jeans that I didn’t order. The size was only one size down from what I ordered and I’m fairly certain after reading reviews that this is common practice by this company. If the item is out of stock - they just send you whatever they have and then completely ignore you. Do not order anything from them. Business practices are criminal. I can’t even upload the receipt because they never sent me one. My credit card was charged and duties paid on top of that. Customer service never deals with the issue on contact- they always claim that will get back to you in a couple days and never follow up.

On June 22, 2024, at approximately 1:30 PM, I experienced a troubling incident at your store. When I approached the counter to pay, none of the other employees at the other counters, who were not busy, acknowledged me or offered assistance. Eventually, Sujan, who is five months pregnant, offered to help. During the transaction, I asked to order an item online as it was not available in my size. Sujan discovered that there were two pieces left in the back, contrary to what the fitting room attendant had told me.
When Sujan asked a colleague for help retrieving the item, the colleague rudely told her to fetch it herself and laughed at her. This behavior was not only inappropriate but also discriminatory and hurtful. Despite your company's claims of inclusivity and diversity, I did not witness any of it from the fitting room attendant to the counter staff. This incident raises concerns about whether such behavior is a reflection of the company's culture from the top down.

I ordered a $250 dress for my brother’s upcoming wedding. When I received it, it had a tag on it, but it was extensively stained and very clearly previously worn (multiple stains down the front, dirty and stained around the bottom where it hits the floor). I contacted customer service with pictures to see if they would expedite ship a new dress to me prior to receiving my return as I received a damaged product and needed to get the dress hemmed prior to the wedding, so was starting to get time crunched. They agreed and told me it would ship in 1-3 business days and be delivered 1-2 days after that and that I would receive a notification when it shipped. This was last Friday.
The following Thursday morning (yesterday), I still had not received a shipping notification, so contacted them again. They seemed to be confused, so I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor was unable to tell me why the dress hadn’t shipped, but assured me it would ship that day. When I asked what I should do if it didn’t, she stated she “promised that wouldn’t happen.”
As of 8:30pm last night, still no notification, and I reached out again. They again seemed confused, and said they would cancel the order and place a new one that would ship in 1-3 business days (the same thing they said a week prior). I stated that this was unacceptable and again asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor could give me no details regarding why the item hadn’t shipped or when it would ship, just that it would be “very soon.”
It is now 7:30pm the evening before a long weekend and I still haven’t gotten a shipping notification. What is the point of having customer service when they have no insight whatsoever into a customer’s order and no ability to remedy a problem or get a product shipped faster? Also, for the price I paid, I am floored no one noticed how stained this dress was after it was returned and repackaged to sell as new.

Anthropologie in Bakery Square Pittsburgh is one the worst stores and the associates are not trained to well on returning items. Well neither is the online customer service either. If you return something that was purchased with a gift card you do not get a new gift card right away to use. You have to wait 2 to 3 days before you receive that gift card for your return in an email. Which means if you are at the Anthropologie Store and you are returning something you purchased using a gift card and want to use that return amount to purchase something new that day your out of luck. That is right, you have to wait 2 to 3 days for Anthropologie to send you a reimbursement or gift card in an email.
When return you cannot get a gift card right away, you must wait 2 to 3 days before you can use or get a new one. If that is not true then someone better tell that to the manager and employees at Bakery Square in Pittsburgh location and the employees at 1-800-309-2500 customer service. Not sure what Anthropologie is thinking but they apparently don't have any interest of keeping customers. I ordered some curtains and curtain rods - not on sale, no promotion going on - so not likely a matter of being "sold out". The order went through fine, got the order confirmation and said when it shipped I would get another confirmation. Didn't hear anything so checked on my order status. It had been cancelled with no explanation given - and no email was ever sent to me letting me know.
I contacted them through the online chat as well as the phone number. When I finally got through to someone they just told me what I already knew - that the order had been cancelled - but they didn't know why and would have someone contact me within 72hrs. As with others on this site, I am still waiting to hear from someone a week later. Clearly there is something sketchy going on here. Either they're advertising products they don't have or.... honestly I don't know. Can't figure out what the end game is. I'm never going to order from them again. I called customer service and all she said she was sorry. Very annoying. If the system let me know that I was never going to get this dress, I could have ordered another one.
On the other note, another dress I bought had a defect which I noticed when I wore it to a party. I have been shopping with Anthropologie for years and it's rare that I don't encounter an issue. Damaged goods, canceled orders, wrong size sent... I once received someone else's order. They initially promised a refund, but the items I actually ordered were no longer available. The refund was never actually processed. After maybe the fourth contact requesting the refund, they asked me to send the incorrectly sent items back. Never got the return label in my email. A few more interactions and I finally got the return label.
When the goods made it back to them, they still didn't refund me. It took 7 contacts and literally almost a year to fully resolve that one and I had to explain myself over and over because no one would bother to read the notes on the order. If you call, you'll get a native English speaker, but it's very clear that their chat service is an outsourced third party that can't do anything, will talk to you like a robot, and is just a complete waste of time. Interactions with them are very frustrating.
It's really disheartening that I'm paying luxury prices and they're cheaping out on outsourced customer service agents instead of keeping jobs in the USA where they're based. This evening was the latest installation of my Anthro drama. I purchased a bag over Black Friday. They canceled it. When it came back in stock, I placed a new order. They gave me a price adjustment per my request (inconvenient that I had to reach out because if it just came in the first place, that wouldn't be necessary). I asked them to honor the original sale price on the order before it had been canceled. That was honored. When the bag arrived, it was scuffed with black marks.
There was no replacement available, so I asked for a discount since it was damaged. They agreed, but never actually processed a partial refund. Contacted them tonight to complain. Spent 1.5 hours speaking to 3 different people after multiple disconnections. No one would review the previous chats, no one spoke to me like a real person (canned responses not really addressing what I was saying). Finally, my initial request of the partial refund was honored (supposedly), but that's 1.5 hours later and it should have been done when it was first promised to me.
No coupon as a consolation for all my wasted time and inconvenience, even though that was also promised to me in my initial conversation, but not delivered. So multiple contacts again to get one issue addressed and we're talking long, drawn-out contacts, not quick and easy fixes. You can tell yourself that the negative reviews here are people airing out their grievances, but I'm telling you: I've shopped here frequently for years and there are ALWAYS issues that suck up my time to deal with. It's not worth it! Especially because most of their items are available elsewhere. I always regret going back to them and cannot recommend them! Browse their site for the curated goods and buy your items elsewhere!

I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I have encountered regarding my recent 2 online order with Anthropologie clothing company. I have not received the items. First ordered took over 1 month to receiving feedback from the customer service and response was the package not located and refunded my purchase amount with 20% discount. Giving a benefit of doubt I reordered in Aug 31st and till date I have not received my in store pick up order. I have checked the tracking information provided, and it seems that there has been no movement or update since Aug 31st and Customer service reply is "Thank you for reaching out. I apologize for the inconvenience. I have arranged to have this further reviewed. Once processed, you will receive confirmation via email within 24-48 business hours. Have a good one!" I kindly request your assistance in investigating the status of my order and resolving this matter as soon as possible.

I had the worst experience ever in my life with the delivery of my order. Customer service is useless, helpless, providing no updates neither feedback, nothing at all. They tell you "One moment please" and disappear. First the delivery was stuck on "being processed", for almost a month, then "temporarily no product in stock", still waiting, after all it was simply cancelled with no notice to a customer since it came to be out of stock forever. It was a gift which never came true... If you love the Anthropologie products NEVER EVER order online, go to the store instead!!!

I will not be ordering from this company again. A few months ago I ordered a top online that came completely dirty. It was pretty concerning and telling of what may go behind the scenes of this "fancy" store. They would only refund if I returned the filthy item! Recently, I ordered some dinnerware from them and it was a complete disaster. Their website was declining my card (checked with the bank and the problem was on Anthropologie's side). Placed the order over the phone and they did not include the apartment # in the shipping address!
The order got held for several days at another terrible company/service called On Track. I tried to communicate with the shipping company several times and finally they told me the address was fixed and the items would ship. Later I found the items were sent back to Anthropologie. During this whole process, no one from Anthropologie, over the phone or chat could help, they just said I would get a refund. I will not bother ordering from them again! I am still waiting for some of the items to be refunded!

I have always liked Anthropologie. I have many items from them. I had placed a couple of orders for their Pikcro pants, and liked them very much. A few days later. I ordered a candle that was on sale. Shortly after the order went through, I received an email my order was canceled!! I figured the candle was just sold out and the website hadn’t been updated yet. A day or so later, I decided to order another pair of the pants I had recently ordered, as they had gone on sale, along with another candle they had. Same thing… they canceled my order. I tried ordering several more times, and every time, they canceled my order!
I have called and texted them about it in several occasions and just keep getting told someone will contact me within 72 hours. Well, 72 hours has come and gone with no word from them. I contacted them again yesterday, and finally received a message back at 6:00 this morning that it seems there is a ‘restriction’ on my account! I asked why in the world they would have done that and was just told to wait another 72 hours for someone to contact me with a resolution and to not place any more orders until then. Of course, the things I wanted are all sold out now. Did they restrict me because I ordered too many pants? This is pretty bad form and customer service. I feel like simply deleting my account with them. Why would I want to continue to do business with a company who doesn’t want my business?

They offer you to sign up for shipment updates by text but you give your info and you get no info from them. Anthropologie who charges a fortune for their clothes, has the WORST customer service. They just keep saying “allow 10 days from the shipping date.” That’s UNACCEPTABLE!! You take my money and keep it tied up. Clearly the company is in trouble because they scraped the bottom of the barrel for a shipping company and their customer service is a joke.
The shipping company fraudulently changes the delivery date every day to the current day which is really not right to do to anyone. If I were you, I’d think twice before you order anything from this company unless you don’t mind waiting forever. I’ve placed orders with 6 other stores since then and received everything in 2 to 3 days from REAL shipping companies.

Anthropologie - great clothes if you can get them and if (good luck) you can reach customer service. For years, Anthropologie was my "go to" choice for interesting, fashionable, "different" clothing items. But lack of service sent me to Saks, Banana Republic, Not Your Daughter's Jeans, JCrew, and other competitors, especially online.
Today, I decided to give it one more try because there were a few items I couldn't find elsewhere. Late last night (wee hours), I placed a major order. I woke up to find it was canceled! No explanation - canceled the entire order of over 10 items (not on sale). I tried to call customer service and was on hold for 40 minutes, then disconnected. I called back and selected the option for Anthropologie to call me back: never happened.
Then, I placed an order for three of the items - and it seems to have gone through. Separately, I placed an order for one more item - three times - and three times got a cancellation with no reason. I finally called the local store that told me the item is on back order (I knew that from the information online but placed the order - willing to wait).
OK, so these days, real customer service is hard to find. But Anthropologie seems to have reverted to a business model characterized by disdain for the customer, arrogance about its ability to get business with no customer service, and a total disregard for all of us whose money enables it to exist. Well, not this customer - not anymore.

Last Christmas 2022, I spent hundreds of dollars on clothing for my daughter. I paid extra to have each piece gift wrapped so the experience would be special. The boxes came in the Anthropologie boxes and were sealed and wrapped. As she opened each box instead of the clothing piece being wrapped in tissue, it was thrown in the box in the original plastic bag that it came in to the store. The worst part was each piece still had the price tag on it. It was so embarrassing and tacky. All of my family was so disappointed with condition that the garment was thrown in the box and sealed up. Terrible! What a complete waste of money.
I could have wrapped it myself but I thought receiving gift wrapped gifts form Anthropologie would be special. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Never again. Beware if you are sending a gift wrapped gift from Anthropologie because the price tag will be on it and it will be thrown in a box inside of a plastic bag. The people that work in this department are careless. They could care less about their job. What a disappointment.

I didn't know there was a hold until I went to make another purchase (from Free People who is owned by the same company as Anthro) and the order was cancelled immediately. Once I got in touch with the company, they told me what happened then released the hold. What they DID NOT tell me was that they clawed back the entire e-merch credit, even thought he credit was MORE than the gift card I used. I have been a loyal customer to Anthropologie for a decade now. I've always praised the company's unique & beautiful designs to all of my friends & family. I knew every single item w/in the catalogs & each item I came across an Anthropologie piece of work from anyone I interacted with, I knew the season & year items came from. I truly was Obsessed. Many of my friends, family & employees told me to work for Anthropologie because I was constantly advocating for them. For me, I saw Anthropologie as a vision of how everyone should be or look to be: Unique & Beautiful in their own way w/o shying away from what others would think - thus, being Confident & Empowered to be themselves.
I always felt this way about Anthropologie until the past few weeks. I have 2 incidents in particular that have made me come to the saddening decision that I will never shop at this store again & it makes me tear up to say this. The first is w/ trying to obtain my Registry Gift List. I had recently been married in June 2022 & had received several items from guests; however, most of the packages did not depict whom had purchased these items. Also, some of these items were never received. I tried for months to either receive a list of whom had purchased what & when I can expect the rest of the items that had been purchased by guests, but I never have received any updates to alleviate my issues. When going into the stores, the employees try to be helpful, but they too were unsure on how to resolve my issue.
My second issue pertains to: trying to make an online purchase thru their website for my Grandfather's Induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame this past weekend. However, each time I had tried placing the order, w/in 12-24 hrs, the order was cancelled. I would receive an email notifying me: The order was cancelled; however, it did not disclose to me why the order was cancelled. The first 2 times I placed the order, I thought it was due to my bank account or was the wrong billing address. So, I tried again, & it continued to not work. After the third cancellation, I decided to reach out to customer service. Unbeknownst to me, my account was put on hold. Although Customer was extremely kind & helpful, they were unable to see why my orders continued to be cancelled. What was depicted to me was they would file a record to have someone reach out to me w/in 24-48 hrs & if I don't, to call Customer Service again.
I did exactly as told & after 48 hrs, I had called them back & conducted the same steps. I continued to do these steps for 3 weeks. After the third week, I explained the situation to another very kind Customer Service Representative named Devin, & instead of filing a record, he provided me the phone # to call to resolve the "Account Hold." After thanking Devin for his assistance, I reached out to the phone # given. However, unlike my previous experiences w/ kind & helpful Customer Service Representatives, I was greeted immediately w/ an extremely Rude, Disrespectful & Accusatory Dispute Representative. Again, unbeknownst to me, my account was put on hold for an order that was shipped to the wrong address months ago:
Months ago: My husband & I had just been married & moved into my grandfathers' home in Indiana. We were a few days in & had my brother-in-law's wedding w/in a week & a Family Mountain House Trip immediately following. Since we had just moved from TX to IN, we didn't have any idea where our swimsuits were. So, I had decided to order this very cute, unique & sophisticated bikini from Anthro. When going thru Checkout I use PayPal because it has all of my CC & banking info needed to easily complete my purchase. To this tho, since we had just moved to my grandfather's house, I physically typed into PayPal & double checked on Anthro's website: my shipping address matched my grandfather's address (since we just got there 2 days ago) & I ensured my billing address matched my previous housing address since I had not updated my billing address for my bank accounts.
After double checking this info multiple times, I hit submit on the order. The website stated my order was placed & I would receive the items in time to our traveling down for my brother-in-law's wedding/Mt. House Trip. However, a few days later when out shopping for some housing goods, I had noticed the order was being shipped to an outdated address & billed to an outdated address from >4 yrs.
I immediately called Anthro's Customer Service, explained to them I know I did not enter the wrong address because I had typed in the new address & double checked both PayPal & Anthro prior to hitting submit order & the Rep. was very calm & handled the situation perfectly. She had stated to me "There was nothing that she could do from her end since the product had already shipped. This happens all the time w/our systems where if there's a new address added or if there's a glitch in the system, it can sometimes refer to an old address which this appears to be that case. It's completely fine - What I recommend you do is to see if you can retrieve the package myself or from a friend or if not applicable to contact your CC company & notify them that I had not received my package due to being sent to the wrong address. This way you can get your money back from the order & not be punished for it."
After thanking her for her help & assurance, I followed the steps as she had stated: I sent my family over to my previous address - which failed. Then, I had reached out to PayPal & notified them the package was sent to the wrong address. PayPal issued me a refund & I didn't hear a thing from Anthro until I reached out to the Dispute Representative that's now referring to this incident.
As stated above the Dispute Rep. was extremely Rude, Disrespectful & Accusatory. His response to my asking why my account was on hold was: "Ma'am you placed an order & after receiving your order decided to return the order & submitted a dispute w/ your PayPal Account that you never received the order when you clearly did. Are you ready to pay for the amount you owe?" I was taken aback by what I was accused of & calmly stated to him: What happened w/ what I disclosed above in hopes there might be some understanding.
After my explanation, the Dispute Rep stated well "Ma'am our systems never glitch, no, yeah, You, put that address in & You Must Pay for your mistakes & these are the consequences you face when You decide to file a dispute w/ an order you receive." I then stated to him I felt it was quite unfair to be punished for following the advice of a Customer Rep, it was unfair to be punished for the actions of another individual whom I have no control over, it was unfair to be punished for something I know I did do - type in the correct address & how it's also unfair to be held hostage to paying for an unreceived order or being banned from shopping at Anthro for life despite being a loyal customer w/ all of these companies for as many years as I had.
His responses thereafter were, "Ma'am I don't care how much you have spent or if we're your Wedding Registry or whether you believe you're a loyal customer or who's at fault for your mistakes, & even if you don't have access to that address you are responsible for anyone taking your package & returning it to the store." This was also the case when asking to speak to a manager or trying to reason w/ this individual.
After coming to the realization that either I have to pay for this order I had never received & for my previous home's owners actions of returning the order or being banned, I gave him a grand Goodbye & started to reflect on the ordeal. I was in tears. I loved Anthro & have never given them a reason to lose trust in me as a customer. I have spent far more than I should have & loved to purchase their items as gifts to friends & talk about their items to others. & to hear this one individual's stance of me is shattering & provides me w/ clarity as to how Anthropologie truly feels about me => Nothing, a Criminal, a Nobody, a Liar & Thief. I know the customer isn't always right, but to be treated in this manner is completely unacceptable & should never be tolerated by anyone. Everyone deserves much more respect than this & I hope this is never the case w/anyone else...
When reflecting and researching why I was being treated this way, I came across the following article where several customers had endured the same experiences: **. After reviewing this article in disbelief, reflecting on my most recent experiences I came to my husband & asked him for his advice. He decided to investigate himself by contacting Customer Service & the Dispute Rep & Researched online - he unfortunately was met w/ the same obstacles (mind you, he's much more calm & understanding than me) & his response to everything he had heard from myself & his own experiences was we're returning everything from the Registry, we are never shopping from this place again and everything that we have not used is getting returned too.
No one should be treated in this manner especially when spending a lot of money on goods, no one should encounter as many obstacles w/ trying to spend their money on something as expensive as Anthro & we will not endorse a company that has proven to be an advocate of treating others in this manner. For him to come to such a definitive stance like this is enough for me to draw the line & never go back.

When I got home that day, I noticed that the store clerk had switched the billing and shipping addresses with it being billed to her and shipped to me. I immediately called Anthropologie's customer service department and explained the mistake. They said they would cancel the store order and reorder it using the correct information.
To make a long story short, we ended up getting two dresses and being charged twice. I did not get refunded for their mistake until they got the dress back in their warehouse. You would think I would have learned my lesson but, we went back to Anthropologie's Orlando store and ordered a pair of jeans for my girlfriend. This time I made sure to have them send the jeans to my at my billing address. They ended up shipping it to my office with my first name and my girlfriend's last name. Of course the girl at our front desk didn't know who that package was meant for and sent it back. After this I called customer service and found out that the one that was sent back was the only size 25 in the whole store. Worse than that, they had no way to identify the one that was being returned to them to redirect it back to me.
Customer service could not help and I got bumped up to a supervisor who said all she could do was but a note in the system and offer me a discount code. The call ended with no satisfaction and no discount code. For a company that is so proud of their product (judging by the pricing), they have the systems and customer service acumen of a discount thrift store. It seems like they could invest some of those exorbitant margins into themselves and have their operations match their pricing. No way to talk to company management and no one accountable for the time and effort I had to spend just to buy this overpriced clothing. This seems like a trend coming out of California based companies. Buyer beware. Just another dissatisfied customer.

If I could I would give it a no star! I ordered 3 items from them on the same order. The order was broken into two and delivery times were different. I didn’t think anything of this but lo and behold I only got one item. The tracking says I got the second and third item a week later which is not the case. I called asking where my item is and they said I had to take it up with the shipping company. I told them that I had purchased items from them not the shipping company and that they should be responsible for the delivery but I only got a, "We will get back to you."
An hour later I get an e-mail stating and I quote “I'm sorry that you didn't receive your package. Since the tracking information, here, shows that the package was delivered, on October 25, to the address that was verified at the time the order was submitted for processing, we will not be able to process a refund or ship a replacement for this package. Per our policy, it is the responsibility of the customer to retrieve the package from the address which it was delivered.
“There is a possibility that this package will be returned to us as undeliverable. In that case, the warehouse will issue a refund. This process can take up to 3 weeks, and you will be notified when the order is returned to us. If this package is delivered to the address that was entered during checkout, it is the responsibility of the customer to retrieve their order from the location where it was delivered. We do recommend that you delete and remove all old and outdated address from your account.”
I then responded: "Can you prove that the package was actually delivered at that address? I need a picture of where the package was delivered as proof that it was actually delivered to... like the previous package was. The freight company is run by humans that make mistakes and it could have been delivered to a wrong address, these are human mistakes that happen often. Please provide proof of delivery and then we can talk about not refunding what I never received."
Which this was the last straw: "Unfortunately, a picture of the delivery was not provided because pictures are not required to deliver packages to the requested address. If you are unable to locate your shipment, please file a theft report with your local police and use that report to open a claim with your homeowners or renter’s insurance. The only thing we have is the tracking. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
I feel cheated out of my money and very disappointed. I will definitely never ever buy from this store again and advise anyone thinking of ordering online not to. As I said, it is humanly possible that the package was delivered elsewhere and I got the bad end of the stick with the store not taking responsibility for it. Very disappointed in this store. They definitely lost me as a loyal customer.

I bought a few items from Anthropologie. I wanted to return 1 item, so I chatted with their customer service employee to confirm the return policy and if I have to return at the store or if I could ship it back. Their customer care employee said I can return my item using FedEx or UPS and to keep my receipt to get fully reimbursed. I thought this was a good policy given Covid and they are trying to limit people coming into their stores. I also saved this chat. When I went for a reimbursement, I was hung up on several times when explaining the situation and then I was denied the reimbursement once I got a hold of someone. As a company, you should not deceive and lie to your customers. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau, they again denied the claim. Either way, this is not the first time I have heard of a company being stingy and unlawful. Treating their customers this way and breaking a law is disgusting.

They sent the set of bowls separately with no wrapping and no message. They were set to send the other three bowls, each in a separate box, each gift wrapped separately and charged so, and each arriving at different times with only one message on one bowl. When I called to ask what we could do to fix the situation they said, they could cancel the second order because it hadn't been sent yet. They could not send the three separate bowls together. Period. They did not want to fix the situation at all. They did not even recognize that their system is confusing and not at all conducive to sending a gift. Confusing system. Horrible service. I was told by customer service to email copies of the front and back of the gift card to 2 different emails which I did. They have not been able to help me and keep telling me to go back to the store where it was purchased. I have told them numerous times the store is no longer open. Never purchase gift cards from Anthropologie or Bhldn. There's no expiration on these cards, but if you wait too long they become "invalid" and trying to get anyone in customer service to help you use the gift card is a joke. They give you the run around for MONTHS and then give you attitude when you ask them for resolution instead of being shuffled off. No one helps, you just get shuffled to the next person only to be shuffled back to the same person who shuffled you away weeks before. TERRIBLE service. Will never purchase gift cards from either of these organizations. Purchase at your own risk. The one you gifted will not get to actually use the money (without going through obstacle after obstacle of headaches).

Just be aware they will charge you the item you returned 6 months later and put you in their blacklist. I would give -1 star if I could. I've always a very loyal customer of Anthropologie, I've been frequently shopping on their site since 2013, I even bought my wedding dress there. On 4/22/2020 I bought a couple of things including one BHLDN dress size 2. It wasn't my size but I still I want to give it a chance, I didn't know that was a beginning of a big mistake. Long story short I returned the dress with another 3 items, I have the record from USPS, return slip.
However, 6 months later I saw there was a new charge $130 from Anthropologie, I felt weird because I didn't shop on their site that month. And after I talked with them I just realised that they claimed they didn't receive the dress I returned so they charged from the credit card I used. This is absolutely ridiculous, because first of all I swore to GOD I returned that dress. And more than that dress. I returned overall 3-4 items, put them in the same box, they received the rest of them but not the dress? I asked them to give me the proof the dress wasn't in the box or the weight record of the package from the post office. They couldn't provide. To me, charge me for something I don't own, it's stealing!!!
Second, if they didn't receive it they should contact me immediately or even just before they charged me, not charging me 6 months later without any notification. I contacted them at least 3, 4 times they always tell me it's a systemic error and they'll refund me but it never happened. What's even worse is after they charged me for the item I never have, they put me on their blacklist. While I'm still waiting for their investigation for a month, I found all the recent orders I placed have been canceled. The orders that I spent hours shopped on their site, they cancelled it with no reason. I tried to contact them many many times, of course, they never contact you back after they "investigate" as they promise. And now I can't even place any order on their sister company Urban Outfitter!
I can't believe they are this evil, this is definitely the worst shopping experience I ever have, especially I love this brand so much and it accompanies me for so many years. But it's time to say Goodbye, this world is never lack of good brand. Only the one treat value their customer will be successful. As so many similar awful reviews I read about Anthropologie I can foresee in a soon future they'll lose a ton of their loyal customers they've been working so hard on for years soon.

My experience is over an item I returned and they not only did not credit my account but when I disputed the charge on my credit card they froze my account. It happened when I made an online purchase and returned it in the store after they cancelled my order and sent it to me later so I returned it. It has taken months to argue my case and provide the store with copies of all order, return and related documents including the bag they shipped it in and the return receipt from the store. Their process is unforgivable and as much as I enjoy lots of the clothing they sell, I will never go there again. I am very sad that they did this to me as the staff in their stores are generally very nice and helpful but this was out of their hands. Bye Anthropologie????

I have been a fan of Anthro for many years purchasing both furniture/big ticket items (I also purchased from them to overhaul my corporate office spending around $45k in a single Purchase) as well as their clothes and home goods. Each year the brand gets worse than the year before and I keep wondering when they will course correct and it all stems from poor customer service or experiences. Furniture orders are at the top of the list for worst experience in terms of quality control (damaged or cheap pieces) and then dealing with third party companies to actually get your furniture, anthro corporate changing when items will be built and shipped - I always get the run around and when you are paying $2400 for a chair and $4000 for a bed you would think service and quality would be there but it’s not.
In terms of online - they need a new inventory management system. In the last two years if I buy more than 4 items in a single order I usually get an email 2 weeks after placing the order a certain item sold out and the order was cancelled. Very slow shipping and processing times where I'm waiting 3 weeks for items when the site makes it sound like I’ll receive the goods in a 5 days.
But what sent me over the edge to write this review is their ambiguity and lack of service with returning items in the store. On receipts some items say you can’t return in the store (furniture, bathing suits) but most items do NOT have that label so you attempt to return in store and they say they can’t accept it. I asked an employee in store for help decoding how am I supposed to know which items I can return in store or not as the item I tried to return didn’t have the “CANNOT RETIRN IN STORE” line item like other items in my order, and her response was - "You need to cal the store beforehand on each item to confirm as the site and receipt is not reliable".... Something doesn’t math out. If y’all want to be a bargain store and cut corners on service and quality - no prob - but charge bargain prices. I'm sad to write this review - because I loved the store so much, but it’s time to move on and save others from the pain of anthropologie.

I ordered a dress from Anthropologie on February 4. Because I have moved across the country since the last time I placed an online order from Anthropologie, I entered my new address. The next day (less than 24 hours after placing the original order), I checked the confirmation email and realized the package was ordered to my old address. I’m not sure how this happened; my guess is that the page refreshed while I was placing the order and automatically entered the incorrect address.
I immediately chatted with an Anthropologie customer service agent explaining that the package was being sent to the wrong address. This agent informed me that although the package was not yet ready to ship, they were unable to change the delivery address or cancel the order. I then chatted with another agent who told me they could also do nothing to help me and I would have to contact the shipping service. When I asked which service would be taking care of the delivery, they could not tell me because the package was not yet ready to be sent. I was advised to wait until the package had a tracking number, indicating it was ready for delivery, and then contact the deliverer.
In the meantime, I chatted with Anthropologie via Facebook and explained my situation. I was told that nothing could be done to stop or change an order except during a 5- to 10-minute window after it has been placed. I received no assistance, as I expected, but I asked that my feedback be passed on to a supervisor. I received a generic response that my feedback was valued.
As advised, I waited until I received a tracking number, then called the delivery service (OnTrac). They informed me that although I had the correct tracking number, the package was not yet in the OnTrac system, so they were not able to change the address. Because it was a Saturday, I was told to call back on Monday and request a change of address. (The package was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday.)
This representative also informed me that after I called OnTrac back on Monday, I would also have to call Anthropologie and ask the store to confirm the change of address, because OnTrac is not authorized to reroute a package without approval from the sender. This perplexed me, as Anthropologie had indicated that they could do nothing to change the address and my only option was to contact OnTrac. I tried calling on Sunday just in case, but OnTrac was closed, so I filled out the online form requesting a reroute in case that would speed up the process.
The next day (Monday), I called OnTrac as I had been directed, and the agent who answered informed me that the package was already out for delivery (ahead of schedule) to the incorrect address. I asked her to stop the package, and she told me while I was on the phone with her that she had paged the driver and rerouted the package to the correct address. She said the driver would bring the package back to the processing facility in Hayward, California, and then reroute it. I also told her that I had filled out the online form yesterday just in case, so she made a note in OnTrac’s system that the request had been taken care of over the phone. I thanked her for resolving this issue for me.
That evening, I received a confirmation email from Anthropologie that my package had been delivered to the incorrect address in California. Confused, I emailed OnTrac to explain that an agent had rerouted my package, and they told me there was nothing they could do to help me and that I must contact the sender to resolve the situation, as the package had been delivered. I received no explanation as to why the package was delivered after the driver had been paged to stop the delivery.
I contacted Anthropologie again and explained the situation, and the customer service agent told me she would note that the delivery was a lost package and I should receive an email within 72 hours detailing next steps. I waited a week. I had not received an email, so I chatted with another customer service representative, who told me that the request for a lost package had been submitted but not processed yet. Once it was processed, they told me, I would receive an email and would then have to dispute the charges with my bank.
Rarely have I engaged with a company so disinterested in providing actual customer service. It is disappointing that a corporation as large as Anthropologie apparently has zero control over its own orders and inventory. I find it hard to believe that Anthropologie cannot afford to reimburse me $180 when I pursued every possible means of rectifying a situation that could have been easily fixed if one employee were willing to provide a human experience instead of using the system as an excuse.

I tried reordering using different payment methods and even a different email address and the order was cancelled SEVEN times. I chatted with the customer service in India and the only help I got was they had a “technical difficulty” and I would receive more information over email in 24 to 72 hours.
Meanwhile there are holds on all of my accounts for this order. And I asked my friend to place the order for me in case I was banned for some unknown reason and her order too was cancelled just like clockwork. I have wasted so much time and money which is on hold in my accounts and I am not getting these clothes which I dearly want and I am beyond angry and frustrated. I had zero issues with the other four companies. I ordered from all of these companies on 13 Dec 20 in the afternoon. 2. I had nothing but issues from your company. First, on your website, it was noted that I would receive it prior to Christmas but no exact date was set. The other four sites provided exact dates. Throughout the process, I checked daily on the status of the gift (candle). The only information provided to me was that a shipping label was prepared on 13 Dec. Then, on 26 Dec, USPS said that the item was picked up from your company to ship. 3. The candle arrived today on 30 Dec. Below is a picture of how it arrived. (It was smashed.) Needless to say, I was disappointed but I understand that shipping issues do occur.
4. I then went to your website to begin the return process. I was to say the least, very disappointed to see that I would be charged $5.95 for the return of the smashed candle. 5. Overall, this has been an extremely discouraging process from your company. The major part of this process that I find most disturbing is that I was not dealt with honestly. I will not be shopping with you in the future as it began from the initial moment that you would not provide an exact shipping date. Even if you had said it would be late initially, that would have been honest at least. Customer service was of absolutely NO help - they offered to rectify the situation by giving me store credit in the value of the gift by CHARGING the card of the individual who had gifted me in the first place. Absolutely no shame. And this was after three e-mails (with boiler-plate responses of apologies for inconvenience), and two calls.

The next candle arrived wrapped in tissue paper placed in a single shipping bag. This candle arrived shattered. I engaged in a chat and was told I would be responsible for the secure return of item!!! WHAT!!!! You did not take care to ensure the candle could arrive undamaged yet I am supposed to pay for return...insured return. Why can’t I just send the pics of the damage and why are you not taking any responsibility for how the candle was packaged. This was completely YOUR fault. What chance did the candle have in arriving undamaged!!! Absolutely horrible experience. Will never return. I cancelled an order on July 6, 2020 for a product that was back-ordered (they sent me an email after I ordered it). As of today (7/20/20), the charge of $33.19 is still pending in PayPal. I chatted with four different representatives over the past weeks and was told each time it would be taken care of. Last time, they promised they'd go in manually and delete the charge. I tried calling the phone number listed as corporate headquarters and it's no longer in service. My email to them was returned as undeliverable.

If ordering online from Anthropologie, be aware their website does not indicate prices are in US dollars and the total at checkout does not reflect the total that will be taken off your credit card. I made the mistake of assuming that because we have Anthropologie in Canada, they would be shipping from a Canadian warehouse and prices were in Cdn. dollars. The lack of transparency regarding this on Anthropologie's website is disappointing. I contacted customer service within 5 minutes of my card being charged and was told they would not be able to cancel the order despite the fact that it had just been placed and was not shipped.
I am unsure what the rationale is behind that but it's a little dodgy if you ask me. So, looks like I will be paying an extra $80.00 for a shower curtain plus whatever they charge in exchange when it gets here. Most expensive shower curtain of my life. I hope it's beautiful enough in person to make up for the fact that I will no longer be able to afford shampoo or soap...or any of the normal things one would want to have in the shower. I just don't understand why they could not cancel the order within 15 minutes of being placed. We shall see how many months it takes for them to get it together and send it out. Expensive lesson learned. Do not order online from Anthropologie if you're in Canada. I mean, you can if you feel like getting fully ripped off but that's your choice.

I have been buying from this company for decades and I am done. My package disappeared from tracking and they said I have to wait for it to really be lost. They did not offer to contact USPS or to replace the item. Another order a month ago was just cancelled because the item was no longer in stock, even though it had been when I placed the order. There are companies that are dealing well and trying to keep customers during this difficult time, and there are others, like this one, that will lose customers. I am done.

Cool story: After waiting a month (no problem in quarantine) my order began to trickle in one garment at a time. When my first package didn’t get to me and was marked delivered, I called customer support to have the order flagged and shipped to a second address. Not only were all six parcels allegedly left at that address, only two made it to me. They couldn’t give me any information about where packages were left or when they were delivered. They did tell me they wouldn’t refund the transaction because they were logged as ‘delivered’ in their system.
I agreed to file a police report and contest the charge with my bank. (I know, I’m incredible and saintly.) But then they tremendously refused to adjust the price for me to reorder the items still in stock to reflect the original price I paid! I’m not sure what Anthropologie is trying to accomplish, but their customer service policies are set by garbage people. It would be really nice to have some glimmer of appreciation for supporting their business. Or some understanding. It took seven chats and calls to get that worked out. Or not worked out. I can’t imagine this fancy pants company will thrive with flea market level customer satisfaction.

I started my order Apr 27 and finally it arrived May 25th. My order was canceled twice, as a result 2 items were sold out and not available to me, Resulted in 3 Calls to Anthro and 1 to my credit card co. It was a horrible experience from the first day and ended with having to pay $150 in Duty (50% of the value of the shipment)!
I placed my order as usual and a couple of days later I got an email saying they needed more information, so they cancelled my order. Thinking this was a system glitch, I placed the order again. 1 of the items I want is no longer available but I place the order anyway. Then I get the same email. They need more information and my order is cancelled again. I called them to find out what the problem was and was told that they needed confirmation from my credit card company. My credit card co tells me this is ridiculous, that this confirmation happens automatically and there must be something wrong with their system (I won’t tell you my card company, but you’d know it!).
I call Anthro and the customer service agent places the order for me. Another of my items is now unavailable but I order it in a different color..I’m more irritated but it’s COVID and I need some clothes so I go ahead. I specifically ask the agent to make a formal complaint. This was now May 1. I wait for my order. I was not asked how I would like to pay my duty or shipping.
After 10 days.. no sign of it but I check the tracking and it is “on the way”. May 25th I finally receive notice from Canada Post that my order has arrived and I picked it up at the outlet yesterday...$150 in duty! Which comes to 50% often value of goods! I’ve checked several duty calculators and they all estimate $95 in duty. I call Anthro back to tell them I’m fed up.. This is a horrible experience. The agent can not even understand why I am upset and tells me she is confused and what would I like her to do. I ask her to place a complaint again and I’ll like some compensation. She tells me she can do nothing but she is sorry.
I have never heard back from my original complaint and when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told that is not possible. I am a regular Anthro customer and having been shopping with them for about 10 years. This experience has ruined it for me. I will not be shopping at Anthro again. And I will be tracking down their senior management somehow.

I loved Anthropologie. Their clothes are so beautiful and unique. I appreciated the 50% of sales as well. I would shop in store whenever I was at the local mall. When I switched to online orders, things got really bad. I have ordered 8 different orders in the past few months. Each order has taken over a month to SHIP. Once items ship, there is no tracking information. They ship my items using Asendia. I have contacted customer services multiple times and they tell me "just keep waiting." For how long though??? Am I expected to wait months? My husband had ordered me a pair of floral Birkenstocks from Anthropologie and the date kept getting pushed back for 2 months. Finally, I cancelled the order and ordered them directly from Birkenstock. It has been 3 days and the order is almost here.
Not to mention the fact that we PAY FOR SHIPPING. Nordstrom ships 10000% quicker and their shipping is free. Anthropologie requires orders of $150 to get free shipping. Are you kidding?? Old Navy, Target, Walmart, and pretty much every other business out there has a MUCH lower free shipping price. Even Etsy sellers usually ship items for free after you hit $30. This is outrageous and a poor business model. I am also upset that they only offer an app for apple. What?? Why?? They want to be exclusive so badly that they are willing to lose money from android users. I purchased a Mother's Day gift set and the item ended up being cancelled after a month. They sent me a free shipping coupon to make up for it. I am furious. How embarrassing for me that I have to explain that Anthropologie cancelled my mother's day gift for my MIL. I hate Anthropologie. All I have to say about this company is that they need to have employees who are all on the same page. I ordered 2 sale items at an additional 25% off. The next morning I logged onto the site and noticed that the sale items were now an additional 25% off (so 50% off total). I called to see if they could do a price adjustment and a man I spoke with said no, they could not do that. He suggested canceling out the first order and re-ordering the items. So I gave him my order number. He said the order was canceled and I would receive an e-mail in a few minutes. I thought “that was that” but never received the e-mail. I called 2 hours later to confirm my order was canceled, since I hadn’t received this e-mail. I spoke with a snotty young woman who denied the guy said my order was canceled, but it may still ship (even though I literally had just placed the order).
Okay, so I’ll just return the first order I thought. Of course, get an e-mail that night that my order I wanted canceled shipped. So my second order, which were the same exact items had not shipped after a few days. I noticed the items were now “out of stock” so I called to see if that order was shipping. I spoke with an older lady who said they were in the process of, and just asked her if they could stop the shipment and give me a price adjustment. It sounded on her end like she was going to do this for me, which was what I wanted in the beginning. After 20 minutes on hold I got hung up on.
So I called back again, on hold for 20 minutes before I even reached another customer service rep. They told me now that I could NOT do this. I explained my entire story, and she said “Oh that lady must be new. We can’t do price adjustments”. I told her that these employees needed all to be on the same page with their policies and she started getting rude with me, and again when I told her the first guy I spoke with said it was canceled up until I called a few hours later to check the cancellation she said it could have shipped in that time, even though I got the email that night it had shipped. She seemed to ignore the fundamental question as to why no one could agree on anything. Her response to that was “I could tell you but I would get fired.”
So what? Their company purposely tells all these people to say different things with the intent on not giving the customer what they wanted? This is so shady to me! No one was actually helpful, because everyone seemed to tell me different things. They obviously intended to lie about canceling out my order to make me re order the items, and hope I wouldn’t send anything back. So if I have a problem actually sending the first order back, you bet there will be a follow up!! I have never seen a company just mess with a customer like this!

But three weeks later after delivery the bed began to suffer large cracks as it expanded with the change in temperatures. I had to return the bed. I'm floored to find other reviews on this site that mirror my own experiences with Anthropologie's customer service. Like others here, I too was a customer for decades at Anthropologie. I too had roughly $500 worth of goods sent to my home (October 2019) in Brooklyn that was apparently stolen. When I called to to try to sort things out it became a very painful, long and drawn out process of Anthropologie not getting back to me after they said they would or simply misinforming me.
In the end, I called the credit card company and disputed the charge. Then I got blacklisted from shopping online. The worst part was I didn't even realize this because to make up for all the hassle with the order Anthropologie had caused me (I called several times to sort things out), they gave me a 30% discount on my next order. When I tried to use the 30% discount THAT'S when I found out they barred me from shopping online. Talk about adding insult to injury. Also I've been told by Anthropologie (two customer service representatives actually said this) the only way to resolve this issue is if I remove the dispute via my credit card company and pay for the goods, even though I did not receive them. How this makes sense, I have no idea.
I honestly thought my experience was a fluke but apparently Anthropologie is no longer a reputable company that cares anything about customer service. Their entire business model was supposed to be about the convenience and curation of beautiful products from lesser known vendors. My advice, If you see something you like from them find the actual *manufacturer* and skip Anthro as the middle man charging an exorbitant markup with little care if you receive the item. I cannot believe they have chosen to enact these policies and leave the customer accountable for lost and stolen goods. If they are now making themselves inconvenient and are shifting their policies to be less customer friendly, why should any of us actually shop there? I know I no longer will.

I recently made a large purchase from Anthro and their delivery service (OnTrac) left the package on my doorstep (despite the note on my door saying NOT to leave packages unattended). I live in SF proper and unfortunately the package was stolen. Anthro told me their policy is that they are not responsible for packages once they are delivered, so I am basically am out $540. I have called customer service twice and asked to talk to a manager both times, but they are unwilling to help me. Their only solution for me was telling me I could file a police report and hope that the police could track down the package.
I have never seen such poor customer service. Shame on Anthropologie for acting high end- and overcharging for poorly made clothes while offering atrocious customer service on the backend. First, be very aware that all the prices are in US dollars and even if you enter your shipping address in Canada and pay with a Canadian credit card, at no point do they give you the actual price that you are gonna pay in CAD. I myself discovered a bill of 100$ more than expected by looking on my bank account. I know a lot of brands do this but it doesn’t make it okay or acceptable, it is a way to trick us, no less. Second, the tracking of the package is not handled very well. You receive an order number and then you have to check yourself where is your package at. Mine took more than a month to get from US to Canada. I didn’t feel very much taken care of during that process.
Finally, what was my surprise when I actually received a note from the Canada Post telling that my package had arrived but I had to pay a 100$ more to get it. Thank you custom fees. However, when I called customer service, they didn’t care about that problem telling that is was common and that they talked about it while you were placing your order. Again didn’t see that, mustn’t have been too obvious. And again, customer service were dry and uninterested. So I ended up having to pay about 200$ more than expected when I first placed my order, then wait a month to get my package to finally having to send it back without even seing what was inside (so not to pay the taxes). An horrible experience. I really don’t recommend them, especially their customer service.

Anthropologie has the worst policies and customer service I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They are useless, dismissive, rude, and unapologetic in their lack of effort to resolve any order problems or product complaints. Twice I have had problems with their shipping method of an expensive bridesmaid dress I’d ordered, where they were shipping to the wrong address but refused to correct the shipping address and instead canceled my order without my authorization. They also refuse to honor any sales, if you purchase a clothing item that says later go on a better sale, they refuse to honor that price. Worst, the customer service just makes lame excuses for their ineptitude and terrible policies, while putting no effort in to actually resolve anything. I cannot believe they are paid to sit there solely to tell customer they cannot do anything for them.
Finally, their clothing products are outrageously expensive AND low in quality. So often the clothing I’ve ordered has been ill-fitting, wrongly sized, or had seams coming undone and beadwork falling off. It’s ridiculous. But no free returns for their BHLDN products. It’s sickening, the poor-quality products they sell at such crazy high prices, all with terrible customer service support to boot. When I call to inquire I’m usually put on hold multiple times and then simply told they have no idea when it will ship. I ask if that means it’s never going to come to fruition and they say they can’t be sure. They are rude and hostile in conversation; unapologetic at best. I would have never purchased the chairs if I had known I would only receive one chair.
Yesterday I decided to call and ask if I can simply return the one chair I have. After being placed on hold yet again they said, sure but I have to coordinate with metropolitan warehouse delivery....again. I am not sure how they are training their customer service reps but they should consider taking a more personable and empathetic tone with the goal of being understanding and helpful rather than hostile. Honestly, I can say the whole experience has turned me away from ever purchasing furniture on their website again. Let me start by saying I have been a Anthropologie for well over 10 years but have always shopped in-store & never furniture items until recently. The customer service has always been subpar as they hire employees in all departments who carry the attitude of work being more of a personal burden rather than being a part of a business structure. The items they sell are unique & overpriced and to add in a privileged air does not enhance the company. Rather it takes from it.
My most recent purchases have been online & included clothing items & furniture items. All the clothing items sent out randomly & delivery dates were all over the place for each individual item. I also ordered 2 9x12 rugs, a dresser, a floor lamp & a coffee table. None of the items I purchased were low stock items or sold out items. The trouble began to appear when I tried to reach out to see if it were possible to get an estimate on the date of delivery weeks after my order had been placed. It was obvious the order was not easily found & the items were split up with some being ready & others not. They would not deliver what was considered ready.
Out of the blue, weeks after my purchase I get a notice saying that they canceled the lamp in my order which was obviously a result of them overselling that item while the rest of my items were being gathered for a delivery. This was ridiculous & completely unfair to let a item that wasn’t even low in stock get to the point of selling out weeks after someone had it purchased & reserved for their order. Obviously they failed to do that & did not offer a similar item in its place or any other solution. As for the other items, it’s taken nearly 20 calls to both Anthropologie & their shipping partners, Metropolitan, and I have still not received my furniture order.
For reference, they promise delivery 2-4 weeks after your order is placed. I’m now in the 7th week & I am told that I should get them some time next week. So 8 weeks after ordering, items cancelled, rude customer service, endless failures to call me back or to keep me informed & no care on their end for their failures to honor their commitment to the customer. It’s astonishing how unprofessional this company is. Truly a horrible group of people to do business with. Despite having a full house to furnish I will not purchase anything from them ever again nor would I ever recommend them to anyone.

I am writing this because am at my absolute wits-end. If you all have any plans to register with Anthropologie for your wedding or any other occasion, please think again. If you would like to return anything that cannot be bought in-store, expect that you will not be able to return it in store AND that the process to return will leave you with ambiguity as to if the product returned was actually received and if you will receive credit for that item -- this happened to us twice.
The information will not be given to you -- even if you contact customer service --. The information you will receive will tell you how long you should expect to hear nothing before you should start to worry. Also, you are trying to contact customer service around any holiday -beware- you will most likely be on hold for at least 30 minutes waiting for someone to help you.
We have experienced problems with 8 items. That is probably half or more of the items we were actually gifted from Anthropologie. Out of those 8, we have absolutely no idea as to if we are going to receive the items that were ordered for us or the credit for the mailed-in returned items. We have also had trouble with attendants in-store returning our gifted items to the cards those items were bought on - refunding our gifts to those who bought them for us - instead of giving us merchandise cards.
This is an irreversible mistake. Anthropologie will not help you change this once it has been done. All-in-all, we are missing about $500 worth of product, and I have absolutely low confidence that we will see any of those GIFTS. So, to sum it all up, Anthropologie does not help you when it comes to understanding where the purchased gifts are that you have not received, nor do they help you understand what will happen to your returned items once they are sent in. They have absolutely no help for you when -they- have made a mistake that effects you negatively. Please think twice about shopping with these people, especially during a high-stress time. Dealing with Anthropologie has been the most unpleasant retail experience of my life-during one of the most important times of my life. All I can say is, beware.

I went to purchase this dress, and went through the entire registration process and was told that I already had an account and that I needed to sign in. I had no recollection of this but plugged in my old email and got back into my account from 2012. At that point, I was prompted to update my address, which I did. I looked for shipping but didn't see it anywhere. I found the billing information and it had been updated. At that point, it appeared that the platform, had just updated my new information within their system. I completed the order and received my confirmation of order through email.
I IMMEDIATELY saw that the dress was shipping to my old address, which is in an entirely different area of the state that it requires an airplane for me to access. I IMMEDIATELY called Anthropologie's 24/7 customer service and waited for someone to answer for an hour before I hung up. Next I tried their automated chat feature, and was asked if I was writing about the particular order. I said that I was.
The chat feature informed me that customer service was not available but that a message could be passed along and I could request someone to respond to my issue. I stated that I wanted someone to get back to me ASAP. I stated the issue in my response. I told stated the shipping was wrong, that it was supposed to be the same as the billing and I wanted someone to respond to me. I did this on THREE separate occasions that evening, hoping to reach someone. Next, I wrote an email explaining the issue. I wrote one to a general email at Anthropolgie and I responded to the order confirmation as well.
The next day, I received an email that my order had shipped. It still indicated the wrong delivery address. I immediately called the 24/7 customer service number and waited for over an hour. Finally, the next day, I called again and waited 45 minutes before my call was answered. I explained the situation and was told there was literally nothing they could do. NOTHING. I asked to speak to a manger. I spoke with one. She also told me that there was nothing they could do. This is OUTRAGEOUS!!!! When you spend $258 dollars on a dress, the company should have the platform controls to handle the most basic issues of commerce. I feel robbed.

I ordered an online item a few months ago and it was delivered to my business address on a weekend, where it was left in the hallway and stolen. Anthropologie would not refund the item, saying it was "delivered." So I filed a charge dispute with my credit card company and since then my account at Anthro has been blocked. Then they told me I have to file a police report for my stolen item which was valued under $200, really??! What other store in the world requires this for a relatively small item??
I have called many, many times, to try and get it unblocked, and have gotten various responses: "you cannot talk to anyone in that department," "we will send in a request to unhold (which I've done like 5 times)," "someone will contact you in 24-72 hrs" (they never do), "your credit card company listed your address as fraudulent" (I called my bank and they said they never do such things, and that basically the store labeled me as "fraud.") I have spent thousands of dollars to Anthro over the years only to have my account blocked over me filing one complaint about an item I never received after they denied reimbursement. Their customer service is AWFUL. Do not order anything online.

I placed an order this evening for a gift for a friend. I typed in the gift message and used PayPal to pay. I noticed when I received the email confirmation that there was no mention of the message to the recipient. I tried to find where I could cancel the order and redo it, but I didn't see a place to do that easily. I decided to use the chat feature and was put in touch with someone from customer service.
I was told the message was not on the order, as I suspected. I asked if I could redo the order or if the person I was chatting with could add my message to the order. I was told the order was already in the warehouse and there was nothing that could be done. I do not know why the message was not included, and I feel like I should have been able to cancel or add it--especially since it was handled well within the hour. Now my gift is arriving without any message, including who sent it. I am very disappointed with the service, especially since I addressed the issue immediately.

I ordered bedding in July (that matched with my bedroom perfectly) and knew that it would take a month to come to me because it was back ordered. A month later I get an email saying my bank didn’t approve the spend. It told me to call in order to keep my order. I called — and I gave the customer service person the same card. It went through! Only to find out ... it’s back ordered again, “you need to wait a month.” A month later, I receive an email while I’m out of the country that it didn’t go through, again for the same “bank” reasons. I miss the window by a day and I’m told now I don’t get the special price and I have to wait a month.
My husband heard how frustrated I was and decided to step in. He got different managers on the phone and was ensured, after he gave his credit card info, the bedding will be sent and we wouldn’t have to dance around the “bank and email issue.” NOT TRUE. Instead I get the same email about bank verification and call only to be told that now we have to wait 4 months because it’s back ordered! My husband canceled the order. And now I’m an extremely unhappy customer with an incomplete bedroom. Never again. The bank scam that they blame it on is just unheard of. I still use the same credit card to this day and never had a problem. I will never even look at their site again.

I was sent 2 sweaters that I did not order, and apparently, my two non-clothing items went to another customer. I called customer service and was emailed a smart label and asked to ship these incorrect items back and was told that my 2 items would be shipped out to me again since they were sent to another person by mistake. The following week, I received an email that my "exchange" was being processed. I immediately called thinking that the person who had incorrectly received my items was trying to process their own exchange of my 2 items. I was told that no, this just meant that they were sending one of my items to me again and that the other item was now out of stock so I would receive a refund for that item (none of this was stated in the email I received).
The customer service rep then told me that if I didn't return the 2 sweaters that were sent to me by mistake, that I would be charged. I told her that I had already shipped these 2 items sent to me which I never ordered via the USPS smart label, however, if those items are lost or stolen in the mail, then I should not be financially responsible for those items which I never ordered in the first place. The worst customer service I have ever experienced is with Anthropologie. Similar incidents have happened to me several times prior as well, and this will continue to occur with many other customers since no one is willing to address the major problems going on internally within their online ordering/shipping/returns and customer service department.

I sent a jacket to my sister and she never received it. Customer service launched an investigation and I was told if they verified it was delivered, I would not receive a refund. They sent me an email that they "verified" the item was shipped and I would not get a refund (and I should call the police if I wanted to do something further). I had to request they send me what they used for the verification. Only then did they send a photo of the delivered package which was not even in her yard. Ray the manager said he couldn’t do a refund because the computer was down since Thursday. There was a power outage. Their computers were being worked on. I asked for a cash refund or for him to put the refund in manually. I had my credit card, my receipt and the clothes I was returning. He said come back tomorrow and refused to solve his problem.
My husband went in the next day and the same scenario occurred except this time my husband called American Express and Ray said to my husband “You’re irate!” My husband said “No I’m angry.” Ray called mall security. Ray refused to give his name as well and did not call corporate office although on the website it says they are available 24/7! This is absolutely the worse customer service possible. During the one month I moved, so I contacted customer support hoping that they could update the address of the order. They refused. Second story: I entered my previous address for two orders. But I found out immediately after placing the orders and contacted support. Since the orders were placed just a few minutes ago and certainly not shipped, I was hoping they could cancel them for me. Nope; support told me to wait until I had a tracking number. I waited and contacted again, this time they told me they could do nothing because the packages were already shipped and thus beyond their control. Be VERY careful about ordering online. I like the stores and merchandise, but I have had nothing but trouble from literally every single Anthropologie online order. My latest just infuriates me: I accidentally used an old shipping address in my order, so I contacted the company to change my shipping address. Shouldn't be a problem, I thought, because nothing had shipped yet. Look, I understand this was my mistake to start out with, but I feel like it should be part of their job to help me out in this situation. Any scrap of help would have been appreciated. Spoiler alert: not a scrap of help to be had from Anthro.
I contacted Anthropologie right after purchase to try to change the shipping address before it leaves their warehouse... And was told I had to wait for a tracking number. So I wait. Once I have the tracking number, I call customer service again. They said NOW they couldn't change it, because it's already shipped. Obviously it already shipped - they told me to wait until I had a tracking number from the courier. Their only course of action was suggesting I call the Post Office. OH SURE. Because the postal service's byzantine robo-phone system is definitely going to help.
So I spend all week trying to change my shipment, or even put a hold on mail, through the USPS. Despite trying everything short of intercepting a USPS truck, I was notified that my shipment was delivered "to an agent in [ZIP code]." The address I had mistakenly shipped to was my old college address in [ZIP code] so now my expensive skirt is in one of my alma mater's mailrooms somewhere in one large city ZIP code. So I contacted customer service AGAIN telling them that, while they've been utterly unhelpful up to now, I'd really like them to either send me a skirt at my actual address, or refund me, or help me track down my shipment. They say they can't do anything to help, because "the package has been received." WELL NOT BY ME. So now SOMEONE at my old college has a skirt that I bought. I really hope they enjoy it, because I paid a lot for it. It's the last money I'll ever spend with Anthropologie's online store.

I have not ordered anything from Anthropologie in over 2 years after having several terrible experiences. This brand used to be good until about 2015/2016 or so and then the online/phone customer service went to absolute hell. In the last terrible encounter I had, I was sent the wrong item. I'm in Canada and they would not pay or reimburse me to send it back. Our shipping to the USA is expensive so I would have been out of pocket $15 or $20.
I balked and asked the person on the phone if she would be OK with paying if she were in my shoes (if she were a customer sent a wrong item) and she responded 'yeah' with such an attitude, like I was nuts to complain about it and she would happily pay it if it were her lol. Suuuure she would. Where do they find these people?? Sometimes I'm tempted to order again and then I come back here and read the reviews. I placed a $600 order on May 12th, and received a shipping notice on May 14th. Since then, the status has remained "Ready to Go", which means that UPS has not received it. The first time I reached out to inquire about it, the rep said the items (2 chairs) were in stock and there was no reason for the delay. She said I would receive an order update by email within 24 hours, which never happened.
I reached out again 3 days later and was told that it was probably delayed due to the holiday weekend. I told the rep that it had been pending for over a week before the holiday and that I was already told by someone else that there was no reason for it to be delayed. She said she would ask a supervisor, who was "able to see that it was on the truck" and shipping as we spoke. This all occurred in about 2 minutes time, so I'm pretty positive that it was complete BS to get me to go away after her first attempt to brush me off didn't work.
The third time I got the same story, it's on the truck and shipping out. I pressed for more information and she said that she would reach out to the distributor and I'd get an email within 48 hours. It hasn't been 48 hours yet, but I haven't received anything. When I checked the tracking on the Anthro site myself, it says "Undeliverable", with "voided information received" under today's date. I checked the UPS site and it says that the seller canceled the order. So I reached out a fourth time, and the rep insists that the order is still shipping out "despite what UPS says". WHAT?! So I asked her for updated tracking if that was the case, and she literally said she couldn't give it to me. I'm dumbfounded.
I have never seen customer service so appalling in my life. I have a $600 order unaccounted for, and Anthropologie is claiming that UPS is wrong about having my order, but also saying that they can't give me any kind of tangible information about the shipment. At this point, I'm terrified that I'm going to be out $600 based on other reviews where people don't get their items OR their refund. I don't know if the customer service reps are lazy and incompetent, or if their hands are tied by awful business practices on Anthropologie's part. Either way, this has definitely convinced me to never order from them again, and I would advise anyone else to order at their own risk!

In the 7-8 days it took to arrive, I found another jumpsuit at a local boutique. I submitted a request to return all 3, printed the return shipping label provided by Anthropologie and stuck in on the UNOPENED Box when it arrived.
On 4/5, I received a refund for only one item. I was told by customer service that 2 of the 3 items had to be shipped to their affiliate clothing store and I would see a refund in 2-3 days. This did not happen, so I called back 7 days later and was told the box was still sitting in the warehouse to be "verified." Customer service recommended that I call billing because they have the "power to make things happen" and that is where it got worse (at least as far as attitude). I was accused of not sending all 3, told to take it up with USPS and that customer service made up the story about the 2 items needing to be shipped elsewhere.
I asked to speak to a manager and was rudely told I could be transferred to a customer service manager, but they can't see what billing does and I would just be transferred back to billing anyway. I ordered an item on 17th March, which I needed for an interview on 26th March. The delivery was specified in writing within 3-5 working days, which would have been well before the interview. The item did not arrive. I had to make several phone calls. Everybody I talked to was either rude or incompetent or both. They basically refuse to give me a refund until 31st March. Here is the latest response: "Hello, Thank you for your email. I am very sorry you have not received your order. Unfortunately, we are not able to file a non receipt claim at this time. If you have not received your order by 3/31, ..." This is both disgraceful and in breach of their written contact to me as a customer. Every time I have ordered from Anthropologie things have gone terribly wrong, but this should be downright illegal.

I have been a longtime Anthro customer and agree that customer service and product quality has declined in the past two years. I purchased a bikini bottom online over a year ago, that was shipped to me clearly worn, bloodied and no safety strip. How this could even be possible that NOONE caught this is beyond me. This week, I received boots from an order with leaves in the box, heavy worn and scraped bottoms and nicks on the leather heels. How does the returns dept set these NOT safe items for resale? How does the shipping departments not even give a glance? They are charging some of the highest rates around to ship items, yet are not practicing simple quality control. I am astounded and disappointed.

I made a online purchase from Anthropologie.com for a $105.00 pair of jeans in December 2018. They were stolen from my porch. After talking to all of my neighbors, I called and reported it the next day. I explained to the customer service rep and she said that they waive signatures for delivery and that she would credit my account. Nothing was credited. I called the following week and was told that I should have waited a few days to report it to make sure that it was stolen. The rep told me again that it would be credited. I called the following week because there was no credit.
I was told that they were sending me a gift card. I asked why and she didn't know. Then I was told that they would cancel the gift card and send it to their financial services for review and then credit my account. Nothing happened. I called the following week and spoke to the rep and she said that I would not be getting my credit because whoever stole my package returned it for a gift card and used it. I spoke to her supervisor who then reiterated this and told me to file a police report. I'm furious! I have literally spent several thousand dollars with them in the past 4 months. I had several other packages stolen that day and Ulta immediately replaced the items. Shame on Anthropologie. I will never purchase another thing from them again and will tell others this story. I have contacted my bank and they are crediting my account and investigating. How a company can waive a signature for delivery and not stand by their mistake is appalling.

First of all, what happened to this company? Sounds like it was handed over to all of the Philadelphia hood rats to manage. Every person you speak to over the phone is some ratchet chic making snide comments, barely speaking literate English and plain rude. This is not the same Anthropologie that offered unparalleled service 10-15 years ago. I had of their ** agents help me place an order during Xmas time when their website was down, she ordered the incorrect shoes for me. I tried to take them back in my local store, was told no shoe returns. WTF?! Why.
Called CS, was told by another ** agent who was speaking **, that stores don't accept returns. Is that listed as a disclaimer on their checkout page? NO. It is only when you dig deep into their FAQ section about returns, do you see the fine print about no shoes being returned in store. That is a HUGE inconvenience for customers. The stores can sell shoes, but can't accept returns of them. OKAYYY. That makes a lot of damn sense. Secondly, they expect you to pay for $6 return fee for them sending you the wrong shoes. Lastly, they don't offer exchanges. What a horrendous company Anthro has become. Stop hiring ** girls to answer your phones who have an IQ of a pet mouse.a

I ordered a $400 lamp and Anthro sent me a basket with an invoice for the lamp. Ok, fine. I returned the basket to the NYC Chelsea location and asked for a refund, as I never got what I ordered. It took the employee there about half an hour to figure out how to process the return because, apparently, Anthropologie's systems aren't set to handle incorrectly shipped items. The employee was patient and she did her best, and I eventually got refunded.
Until a month later when Anthropologie emailed, saying they've reprocessed the $400 charge because I never returned the lamp... That they didn't even send in the first place. I sent two emails to try to resolve the situation, was ignored twice. So I opened up a dispute with my credit card company. Now, as expected, my Anthro account is on hold. The upcoming furniture orders I had in the account, which totaled $3k and had yet to ship, will likely be canceled. But it's probably for the best. The level of failure here is astounding. There was a supply chain failure, then a CRM failure, and finally a customer service failure. If Anthropologie wants to be successful in this era of e-commerce, they've got a lot of catching up to do.

I told her that I do not have a name tag nor a W-2 from Anthropologie therefore I don’t know WTH the managers even are! The manager then proceeded to use the calculator on my iPhone and could not explain it. Turns out, the whole incident was because the original clerk put two of my returns on an in-store credit card that I never even saw. “Credit” on the receipt meant in-store, not my personal card - but nobody could explain that to me because they didn’t even know it. Anthropologie was my favorite brand and retailer for well over a decade — I love the beautiful clothing and in-store environment. But now that has all changed. Way back in November I placed an order online for a pair of pants that were meant to be a Christmas gift. I don't know how it happened, but a week or so later, after never having received the package, I checked my email for a shipping confirmation — the confirmation was there, but the ship-to address listed was a home address I've long moved from, in another state.
Frantically, I called customer service to make an attempt to fix this error. The rep I spoke to was pleasant, said that the packaged had been returned as "undeliverable," and would be reshipped to my current, correct address. Problem solved, or so I thought. A week later, I received an email from customer service now stating that the package had been delivered (to the wrong address), and since it had been delivered, it was my responsibility to get the package from the delivered-to location. Keep in mind that I have no idea who lives at the location it was shipped to, and I now live in another state, so that is an impossibility.
I called customer service again to attempt to find some clarity (was it returned as undeliverable, or was it delivered, which is it) and recourse, and was told repeatedly, "I know it's frustrating but that is our policy," and there was nothing they could do. So two weeks before Christmas I'm left with two options: Pay for the item again, resulting in it costing me double the price, and hope it arrives at the correct location in time, or count it as a total loss on my end. Hands down, easily, the worst customer service I've experienced in my life.

I live in NJ and purchased a jacket from Anthropologie online recently. After a number of emails and delayed responses from Anthropologie - first telling me they would be happy to process my sales tax refund, then to say my order was not eligible and then to say they need to look into it some more - they came back with a final answer to simply say the request was denied.
At no point did anyone from customer service provided me with an explanation on why the sales tax was charged on a sales tax exempted item in the first place or why they cannot provide me with a refund of the sales tax that was charged in error. I encountered a similar sales tax issue with only one other online retailer in the past couple of years and that retailer promptly acknowledged their error and provided me with a refund. Needless to say, this will be my one and only online shopping experience with Anthropologie.

I paid a hefty charge for shipping, which I was okay with because I liked the convenience of delivery. My credit card statement showed I was charged in USD so not only was the fee greater by over $20, but I was also charged a conversion fee on top of that from my CC company. I then received an email that my package incurred taxes and duty charges in which doubled the price of my original purchase. I voiced my dissatisfaction via email with "Alexis" and felt the response was condescending and not helpful at all.
I then called the customer service line and spoke to a nice woman who also tried to speak with two different managers to help me. The company took no responsibility for lack of currency information on the mobile website and provided no suggestions on how to rectify the issue. They simply said, "there are no distribution centers in Canada". Apparently we are just supposed to know that fact as Canadian consumers. At the end I was offered 20% off, which is humorous because I am charged 45% more if I use their website again. I will not shop here or any connecting companies again.

The banner clearly states “all dresses and jumpsuits”; it was. Last I was told that although I had it in my cart and was able to purchase the jumpsuit at full price, that the site is not in real time and they are out of stock on that item in my size. I asked what would happen if I purchased it full price online as clearly the website had it in stock. I was told I would get a notice that it was no longer available after purchasing. There is nothing they can do.
I am not a picky person but this is the worst customer service I have experienced. If there is really nothing they can do that is pretty surprising. Why is it still available to buy on the website when it supposedly is out of stock? If they know the site is not in real time why don’t they do something about it like every other website online?
From the get go the women I spoke to, one of which was named Brandy were apathetic, sounded half asleep, and clearly could care less about anything other than ending the phone call. Reading the other reviews on here I am shocked that a company with high price points like Anthropologie can get away with treating their customers so badly and having such a low level of customer service. I paid for 2 day shipping to ensure delivery was before my sister's birthday as well. I placed an order during their 30% off sale - two items in the order were backordered, but I was expecting the other two to ship right away as they were listed in stock. Several days passed with no delivery confirmation sent out. I finally contacted them and the person who answered the phone sounded like it was her first day on the job. First I was told “5-7 business days” - really??? Until it's even shipped? I asked to speak to a supervisor, and she comes back after a looonnnggg pause to tell me she was completely wrong and it will be “72 hours.” Uh, until what? Until it ships out?
The next day I call again and, big surprise, yet another clueless person answers the phone. This time I noticed the shipping address was wrong (I know for a fact it was their mistake this time). First, I ask about shipping. She knows nothing and puts me on hold repeatedly to ask a supervisor. Then, I'm told my backordered items are delayed for another WEEK. Then, I'm told they cannot change my shipping address to correct THEIR MISTAKE but must cancel the entire order! Which is what I did. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!
Original Review: I have shopped with a lot of online retailers and Anthropologie takes the cake for being the absolute worst to do business with. Considering the EXORBITANT cost of their merchandise, this is unacceptable. It all started when I placed an order for $200 worth of merchandise during their most recent sale. I received an email that stated, in writing, I would receive my order by a specific day. When the company failed to send me a tracking number after three days of sitting on my order (everything was in stock, mind you), I called customer service. That's when the real fun began. To start with, EVERY rep I spoke with must have had the volume button on their phones turned to zero; either that or they were purposely speaking low to piss people off (which, at this point, I wouldn't put past them).
Originally, I was told the order would ship out the day I called—that never happened. The next day, I called again. This time, the rep basically told me they had no idea when it would ship out, and reminded me that "standard shipping takes 5-7 business days." I reminded her I had an email that stated I would receive my order by a certain day. She kept repeating the mantra about standard shipping, which was completely useless information. I demanded to speak to a manager.
After waiting on hold for 15 minutes, a woman picked up the phone, claiming to be a "manager." Based on the tone of her voice, this woman missed her calling working at the DMV or at a prison. She was disrespectful, condescending, and nasty: she never apologized for the issues I was experiencing, she refused to cancel my order, and basically told me there was nothing that could be done. When it came time to return one of the items in my shipment, I visited a store. Unfortunately I had a question they couldn't answer, and they called customer service for me.
The salesperson tried to translate what they were saying but I asked to speak with them—the rep made a snide remark to the salesperson before I got on the phone. Then she had an attitude along the lines of "I heard you the first time" to which I replied "Nice attitude." She proceeded to put me on hold for 20 minutes. Honestly, the people that work at the online division are complete trash. Shop in the store or not at all. Better yet, don't give Anthropologie your money!
