This is my second go round with Weight Watchers, the last being 12 years ago. I found WW to be very useful than in meeting my weight control goals and I am having a similar experience now. And the program has been tweaked since 2006 to make it even better. As a primary care physician, I know that evidence-based studies have shown that WW has the best track record of any of the commercial weight loss companies in producing sustained weight control. It works because the folks at WW understand the essentials of nutrition, physiology, and psychology to put together a program where people can eat regular food and overcome the emotional challenges involved weight loss. It is the only commercial weight loss program that I have ever recommended as a health care professional. I love WW.

Overall very pleased. Sometimes there are certain identical foods, but different postings on point assignment. This can be frustrating. There are still some major restaurant chains not listed and it then becomes a guessing game. Other than these two aforementioned issues, the site is excellent in structuring a nutritional weight loss program.

I just am totally disappointed. I did this years ago, and it’s completely different. Fiber doesn’t matter anymore, that was that main thing earlier. I feel like this program has turned into a low carb thing and I just don’t like that at all. I do like having the option to pay less than I used to though.

We are sorry to hear you are not enjoying Freestyle, Elizabeth. We will reach out to you shortly to assist you on your journey.

Hoping to lose weight this time around on WW. I tried in the past & didn't stick with it. Lost 65 pounds on my own before without ww. I like the app. I wish I could also plan my day ahead with it & make changes as I make different choices. But the app crashes if I do that. I also wish I could save daily weights to get an idea of what works for me but the app stopped allowing me to do that.
I wish I could enter a meal & then when I got full eating half that I could enter half the points! And save other half for later or next day when I actually eat it. I wish I didn't start at lowest daily points because I always do & it is super hard to experiment & try new things with so few points. I love the connect section so inspirational, educational, and supportive. I wish I could more easily watch older connect with Oprah videos or search to rewatch faves. Lost 4 lb in 2 weeks. Starving in an active week 3.

I thoroughly appreciate this latest Weight Watchers program. Tracking points is a great tool; gaining additional points thru activity is even better bonus. Would love to have ability to import recipes via url because the recipe input feature is time consuming.

I have found the meetings to be very helpful and inspiring. The leader who conducts the meeting is extremely entertaining yet informative. She gets the group talking and sharing which is really what makes the meetings helpful. Hearing from another person who is going through the same experience you are helps me understand that I am not alone. I also learn great tips at the meetings from the leader and from the participants.

This is my 4th go-round with WW and, though the program has been updated several times, every time I participate and follow the guidelines, I lose. I am particularly pleased with the new freestyle program. It makes it easier for me to prioritize what I want to "spend" my points on.

Courtesy weight in 6/7 at The Forum, but due to processing error, weight recorded. Weigh in 6/9 & today at GOAL, told initially would not count due to weigh in 6/7. Eventually told they would “give it to me”, so I could start maintenance. Now weight loss journey on WW App wiped clean & only showing weight on 6/7. I manual entered today’s Goal weight. No apologies. No Congrats. If I wasn’t going for Lifetime, I would cancel my membership. I lost all but the required 5 lbs. Online Only! Meetings are a waste of time & as a former Online only member, I have yet to get any support!! If you want to reach out to me, my email address is: **.

We joined Weight Watchers in October. I was double changed by the local office and by the main corporate office. Weight Watchers has been given me the round around since December about this. They advise me to get a refund for the double charge my membership needed to be active. They now have taken over $300.00 from me and my family. They offered to refund one month as a final refund! I loved Weight Watchers! The program is very good. However, I never expected that this trusted global brand with over 400 millions in revenue would engage in predatory practices! I trusted WW to resolve this issue, after all they are owned by Oprah, who doesn’t trust Oprah? I am extremely disappointed! Oh by the way, when they say they will reach out privately, they will just give you a phone number to start all over again. Is there anyone that can help? I know $300 is pocket change for many people, but not for a working parent with young children!

We sincerely apologize for your experience and we would like the opportunity to look into this further. We will send you a private message in hopes of providing you with a resolution.

Started out great the first two weeks. By the next week, no more emails, messages on the app, nothing. I need more reinforcement. I can’t afford personal coaching, but I thought they would at least continue app messages. I am continuing to try and follow the plan by mapping my progress but I find it discouraging when I use up daily points and use a few weekly points and get not circled date on my calendar. I stayed good for the week but no reward, hard.

I have been through so many incarnations of Weight Watchers over the years beginning as far back as 1981 (that plan, while restrictive, still worked the best). And yes, I have regained the weight when I stopped following the program - that is my fault. When we started up again in March of 2017 with Smart Points it took another adjustment, but my husband and I did quite well. He actually reached his goal and I lost 46 pounds. Then along came "Freestyle" - the most horrible program ever for someone trying to lose weight. All these so-called "free" foods still contain calories, some as much or more than healthy foods like nuts and avocados that are really unfairly penalized for their fat content, but are actually better for you than a tub of Greek yogurt.
The result - I have gained back 15 pounds and my husband, who (unlike me, who has given up for now) still tracks diligently, while staying well within his points, has also gained 5 lbs and is now over his goal weight, and therefore, avoids going to weigh in. We are discouraged and have become erratic about attending meetings (which we generally find encouraging and helpful). No-one becomes overweight because they have such amazing control over their food choices. Offering all this "freedom" does nothing except ALLOW you to continue to eat too much, because it is so-called "Free". You can eat 5,000 calorie a day quite easily on "free" foods. Yes, I have proved it can be done - once!!! That is completely ridiculous. The Weight Watchers plan needs to be structured, to teach you limitation and change in lifestyle, and then help you maintain structure once you achieve goal.
THAT would encourage continuing. From my perspective, the Freestyle program does none of that and also discourages carb/fat/protein balance by strongly penalizing certain healthy fats and carbohydrates and pushing too much protein. Your body needs ALL these nutrients. Additionally, satiety must be factored in. I actually adore good food, and am not driven by French fries, burgers, and ice cream, but even this does not help with this program. Extremely disappointed in Weight Watchers at this time. Once they had integrity, but this free for all (ad shows people drinking and eating ice cream - fine, I have the occasional glass of wine, but the ad just encourages the lifestyle that got you fat in the first place). Ugh!

Weight Watchers works, there’s no doubt about that. The problem is that I rejoined thinking it was as it had been, which couldn’t be less true. It has completely changed. As a Points Plus user it took forever to get my recipes run through their recipe builder to calculate the points. Now they changed their system and all of those numbers are now obsolete. The last time that I was a member you had a choice of which plans, now you do not, so you either learn the new way, or the site is useless. I went cancel within five minute of joining when I realized this isn’t something I want to relearn, but you can’t reverse your purchase, just cancel the autorenewal feature.
Also new website doesn’t seem anywhere near as useful to me as the old one, and kept crashing while I was checking it out. Even crashed two minutes into talking with their online chat person, so that wasn’t of much use either. Very disappointing experience. If you are a new user, you may like it, but don’t get attached to the system. I’m sure they will make it obsolete by the time you go to use it again.

We're sorry to hear about your disappointment, Therese. The SmartPoints value system remains the same on the Freestyle program and is based on the same four nutrients: calories, saturated fat, sugar, and protein. The values in the app and website should be accurate. We hope this information helps!

Gaining weight and losing confidence that I can do it. Why eliminate something that was working for people who need it? Why not ADD another option (FS) instead? My advice to anyone looking at WW, it WORKS. The way it works is that you follow the program. The people that tell me, yes, I tried and didn't lose... they didn't follow the program. I have been on Weight Watchers a few times. Each time I lost weight, and each time I fell off of the wagon as it were. This time I am more committed to changing my life and with the help of Weight Watchers I am going to do it. The Freestyle program is very easy to use and allows you to be creative with your meals to stay within your points. There are so many 0 point foods that you can't go wrong. The app is a great resource and helps you to stay focused. You can track your foods instantly and even create and add foods, meals and recipes that are not listed. Using the Connect section of the app keeps you in touch with other members for support, suggestions and even some non weight related stories. Connect reminds you that you are not alone. The app has other great features, like recipes, motivational tips, and even a section that helps you track your activity and exercise.
I not only use the app I attend weekly meetings. Having a face to face meeting with the leader and other members helps keep me accountable and really brings to home that I am not the only one who is struggling with weight loss. Being able to talk about daily issues with other people in real time instead of waiting for a response on the app gives me faster accessibility to suggestions to handle a specific situation. Weight Watchers wants you to succeed and they give you all the tools you need to do it. Weight Watchers is a great way to start and maintain my new lifestyle.

I surrendered to Him in the beginning, September 9, and when I joined September 10, I felt completely different. I knew I would succeed, I didn't know how long it would take, I didn't care, what I knew without a shadow of a doubt, is that I would succeed. Every single week since that start date, I have lost something, maintained from the previous week, or slightly went up. I'm OK with whatever the scale says each week, because I stay on the program and know I will get there since I am committed. It takes my body a little bit to process, and I am patient, mainly because I have God's favor on my weight loss journey. This is my new lifestyle, and I love how I am beginning to look and feel.
As of yesterday, I am down 63 lbs. I have never lost that much weight and although I have more to go, I am over halfway there. This program is utterly life changing and the only way you fail is if you quit. I also know overeating is an addiction, like any other addiction, and for me, on September 9, I hit rock bottom and gave it to God, completely. My faith is so strong and I now know He can break the chains of addiction for anyone. He has done this for me and deserves all the glory. I have never done this before in my life, and the only difference is I am armed with His strength.
My friends and family are so amazed at my commitment. They tell me I have inspired them too, and that means so much to me. When my weight got out of control was when my husband began his addiction and battle with pain killers and muscle relaxers. He struggled for 10 years with that horrible addiction, and passed away from an overdose in 2001. For 10 years before until now, which is about 25-26 years, I used food to comfort myself. I felt like it didn't matter and I didn't want to be in a relationship anyway, so I would have an extra brownie or cookie whenever I wanted. I became addicted to fast food too.
So you see, I am letting go of much more than weight, I am letting go of all that pain I lived with for all those years. I think that's what my family is so happy about too. I am changing from the inside out. My new personal goal is to become a Lifetime Member and I know I will get there. God Bless you all on your journey. My heart goes out to each of you. Stay strong and commit to the program. Pray and ask God's help - He will be there for your too. I know it.

I have always struggled with eating issues. Now that I’m older, I found I have put on over a 100 extra pounds from not eating healthily and bad choices. I like Weight Watchers because it teaches portion control and making healthy choices. I have joined in the last but often have had to drop out due to money issues but want to stay a member this time. I began my journey with Weight Watchers the end of January 2018. It wasn't my first trip down Weight Watcher Lane. I know it works. And it worked for me again! The leadership at the meetings was exceptional, the discreteness of the staff when weighing in was appreciative. The program itself works wonders. It is easy to stick to. And the rewards are awesome! Just spent an hour on the phone with two customer service people. Their automatic renewal is apparently so automatic that they don't even send notice that they are going to charge you and give you a chance to either cancel or re-authorize, and it overdrew my bank account just enough so that I got hit with an overdraft fee, for which Weight Watchers disclaims any responsibility. I had to spend about 20 minutes trying to get the first rep, Donna, to understand the situation, and then was on hold for about 30 minutes, after which Laurie ** told me there was no recourse for me at all and kept quoting their automatic renewal policy to me without any explanation for why I didn't even get a notice I was about to be charged.

Very frustrated with the app and with the response from Technical Support. The problem is that in my WW app the Rollover options for points disappeared. Contacted, by phone and e-mail, at least 7 supposedly Technical Support people who gave me exactly the same instructions: delete, reload, etc. Tried to tell them that the problem was not at my end, but at their end, that the app was not working. Even gave username and password to the "technical" person, who went into my account and verified that in fact the Rollover option didn't appear in my app.
Finally with many apologies I was told that the problem would be reported and soon solved. After more than a month still waiting and getting more frustrated. My phone is an iPhone 6S. My husband who has a Samsung Galaxy S8, that is with Android operating system, using my username and password, loaded the app in his phone and got exactly the same result, that is, Rollover option didn't show up. They combined our meeting with a meeting in Mentor, Ohio and we have found that the lack of enough chairs, the people at the meeting treating us as if we should not be there as we are the Fairport people and they are the ones that have been at the Mentor meeting all along so they should have first preference at the meeting, seats being saved, has now been a very difficult transition to try and combine the two meetings. I would think Weight Watchers would try and help with this very difficult situation and keep looking for a leader that would make this a better transition for both the Mentor and Fairport participants. I attended same location at different times with different leaders, but none were helpful. I found that each meeting had members that seem to “know it all” and just run the meeting. I was cut off from asking questions on more than one occasion. The leaders did not seem interested in correcting the members running the meeting. I’m not sure why they attend regular meetings since they “know it all” anyway. Not helpful or welcoming.
The Freestyle program could use some teaching as to what is appropriate portions throughout the day along with more explanations about healthy ways to use your points. I really thought I would be learning a flexible program that I would adopt as my lifestyle for eating. Instead, I gained a pound, lost a pound on and off for 5 weeks. Nobody offered any support. I have cancelled my membership. It’s very sad as I used this program 14 years ago and was successful at losing 60 pounds and keeping it off for many years. I now know that I can still eat less food, but when I eat the RIGHT foods, I will lose weight. I love the online points tracker! Presently there are approx 40 or more attending meetings takes forever to get everyone weighed in then our leader is busy trying to catch up with weigh ins should be conversing with members sitting waiting.
Meetings almost always start a little late, and with so many people trying to respond to questions or remarks most people don't get a chance to share experiences, which has always been a helpful tool. Leader trying to get more chairs brought into room took up several min of time... smaller groups would take care of this and give a greater choice of meeting times. I joined 4 weeks ago today, on April 16th. Didn't have much hope, because I am in my mid 50s and thought that losing weight was going to be too difficult. Didn't feel like I had the will power to stop eating bad foods or the energy to exercise like I would need to. My 1st day, I weighed in at 266 lbs. I downloaded the app and started using it immediately. I also started walking everyday. Trying to make sure I got in at least 10,000 steps per day and usually half of those or a little more would come in the evening, because I sit at a desk every day. However after the 1st week, I lost 7.5 lbs and after the 2nd another 6.5 lbs. Only lost 2 lbs. the next week, because of my niece's wedding and I didn't control myself for a couple of days. And last week another 6 lbs. I have used the app everyday, for every meal even when I went over a couple of days. And after 4 weeks I have lost 22 lbs. I am very excited and motivated to continue.
This morning I changed my daily goal on steps to 12,000 and I am feeling great. What has surprised me is how often I don't even use all my points. Only twice have I used my extra allotments and most of the time I have built up an extra 3-4 points per day that are left over. So, my advise would be to go for it and see how you do. My clothes feel great and I am going to have to buy some more soon. I feel great! And not to go rogue on you here, but my desire for sexual activity with my wife has risen tremendously. Much like it has been most of my life until I got so big. My goal is to come off my blood pressure medicine, reach at least 220 or maybe even lighter, feel great as I grow older and just enjoy life again! I have some distance to go, but now I believe with all my heart, I can get there and I owe a great deal of my success to Weight Watchers. The app is an awesome tool. Very easy to use.

My sister had huge success and lost 140+ pounds so I had a model and goal. You don't lose it overnight but a steady trend of loss is the best. Now I exercise at the gym 3 days a week, riding the stationery bike 5 miles and treadmill 1.5 miles. The other days I walk 4 miles. All this with no pain. I joined Weight Watchers 15 years ago and lost 25 pounds. I felt really good about myself but found it hard to maintain. I was always hungry. I was losing too much weight and when I started trying not to lose, I gained it all back plus some. This time I started weigher more than I did before but with the new program I feel like I have more control in choosing foods that I enjoy. I'm not a big vegetable lover so being able to eat eggs, fish, and chicken for 0 points really interested me. I've lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks and feel like this is very do-able. I'm not hungry and I get satisfied faster so I can say no to the high point foods because I can choose something else that I like and will make me feel satisfied. Way to go Weight Watchers.

I see Weight Watchers as a lifelong tool. It basically trains you to think about what and how much you are eating. It stops the mindless eating. The fact that I lost 4 lbs by just cutting down a few foods was amazing. I will add them back on occasion and in smaller amounts. I don’t feel that any food is off limits just have to be mindful of how much.

Online support great, Weight Watchers is amazing. The leader Friday afternoon is great, is very supportive and inspirational. Where I have an issue is one meeting I went to 3 weeks ago my second week at this location, the leader was absent and some older blonde curly haired lady lead the meeting. She made her way around the room and was talking. She happen to stand near me and make the comment of “who wears jeans to weight in day Is brave” and then started laughing, as well as the other people in the room laughed.
For one this isn’t my first time at weight watchers and I know there is no dress code to weight in. Other people, were wearing denim capris. So to call me out while looking at me and make a rude remark. And then laugh is unacceptable. I have gone to weight in and not stay for the meetings. I will be moving meeting locations, as weight loss is an emotional journey, I’m not gonna let some old bitty ruin my weight loss journey while making herself feel better poking fun at me. Everyone at that location is great minus her.

I had been a long time fan of Weight Watchers and found their program to be effective for me and my weight loss goals. I canceled my membership due to frequent issues with overcharges to my account. I was promised refunds only to still be waiting for "my refund" 6 months later. Seems like there is no good communication between departments as to who is supposed to be doing what. I had resubscribed again through work and again am in the same boat of overcharges. Somehow my employee discount got missed again and I am once again being overcharged (same issue last year).
Last operator I spoke to that was supposed to help me resolve matter just was came across very rude. I was already getting frustrated after being on the phone for a while holding with someone else was trying to figure out my account. As I was trying to explain, yet again, the overcharges the phone went dead. Not sure if I was hung up on or what happened but I was disconnected after being on the phone forever. I'll give the operator the benefit of the doubt that it was an accidental disconnect, but I'm just through dealing with overcharges and WW not having a clear process in place to resolve these billing matters.

Weightwatchers helped me through my frustration and made things right. Will definitely return as a member if the old program becomes available again.
Original Review: May 6, 2018
Lost almost 40 pounds on the old program before they changed it to the stupid, confusing freestyle program. I decided to get back on WW after going from 200 back up to 215 over the holidays, but can’t seem to lose a single pound on the new program. The best part about it? They want 40 freaking dollars just for me to cancel it after one month! Went from 42 to 33 points and they basically say, “Eat a bunch of zero-point foods every single day or have fun starving while laying in bed at night.” 99% fat free ground turkey is zero points but some brands cost almost $10 per pound. What makes you think everyone can afford something that insanely expensive just for a meal or two?
People who prefer not to eat the tasteless foods from your zero-point list shouldn’t be punished by having their points taken away. Your app doesn’t even provide a way around it so please don’t BS your customers by telling them to just follow their old plans. Tons of point foods now show up as zero so they have no way of knowing the value and they aren’t able to see what their new balance would have been after losing weight on the old plan. They have the nerve to tell people they can still eat, what they want. HAHAHAHA. Yeah maybe a bite of what they want opposed to a nice little portion with the old program. The new program sucks, sucks, sucks and I’m OUTRAGED that I’m forced to stay on it another two months or pay $40 termination fee. I may have to take this to the BBB.
Honestly, I would prefer a refund because this program is a complete waste of time and energy. I was right when warning people not to buy too much into the hype because the people with platforms posting and blogging about how wonderful it is are getting paid by Weight Watchers. Time to see what else is out there. Weight Watchers obviously changed the program to make more money on slower weight loss and sometimes weight gains.

I really enjoy this new program. It’s fairly easy to follow. I love the app because it’s easy to track. I haven’t missed a day in almost 8 weeks. An improvement I’d love to see if in the restaurant portion. It would be nice to either list by category or alphabetical. Right now there is absolutely no rhyme or reason. A salad can be followed by a breakfast sandwich, followed by a burger, then a condiment. It’s very challenging to search for items if you don’t list search for them exactly as they’re listed.

I did WW about 10 years ago after the birth of my 4th child and was successful in meeting my weight loss goals. I expected the same result this time. But the new WW allows too many free points and really restricts carbs which makes it hard to lose weight when I have just 15 pounds to lose (instead of 100). I don't see how this can be called Freestyle because it is very restricting for someone like me. If I consumed eggs, chicken, or bananas then I didn't lose weight (or gained). They just have too many calories. I will never recommend WW to anyone and will never do it again.

With every journey you hope you only have to make the hard ones once. In my case the first time is now a second time. I had lost 100 lbs using the Weight Watchers online program and upon meeting my goal I was greatly discouraged by the lack of acknowledgement and support from Weight Watchers due to the fact I was doing it online only. I had no invitation to attend a meeting and begin my journey towards lifetime or even any communication with Weight Watchers to congratulate me on my achievement. From that point on I gave up and decided I accomplished it and that was it. I then proceeded to gain 100 lbs back.
Now almost 2 years later I am trying the journey again but with the idea that even though I am paying for the service and I am using Weight Watchers for my journey it is up to me what I do when I reach the end of the journey. This time I will be the one to congratulate myself and make sure I recognize my own achievements. It is my responsibility to be the one to take my results and hold onto them and maintain the good feeling of simply meeting my goal. I can do this!

I joined this time for my health and my feeling of well-being. I have been amazed by the new Freestyle program. I am not hungry -generally - and in the event I am then I have options available to me. I am totally enjoying the "Connect" aspect and have enjoyed seeing the success of others and to receive encouragement in kind. I have completed my first month on program and tracked all of my food intake for a solid month! The WW website is awesome! Kudos to the people who set that up! Love being able to key in most of our eating out restaurants and one keyword to find exactly what I need to choose and track. Going on the 200 choices for zero points has been very challenging. At my age (77) I find too many fruits and veggies (even cooked) have been very difficult for my digestive system! Also I have to satisfy my meat loving 80 year old husband, who is not into tofu, Greek yogurt, spicy food and unusual ingredients.
The WW recipes are not friendly to us. It doesn't work for him having too much chicken/turkey breast; not having his beef and pork. And since we both have high cholesterol... we both have to watch our egg count! Honestly, it was easier for me to be under my 1st WW program with just lower Smart Points. That enabled me to keep to our usual menus and still lose weight. Not sure how long I can do this new Freestyle program with my "tummy" issues.
