Mercedes-Benz recalls model year 2019 vehicles with powertrain issue

The vehicle's engine could stall, posing a crash risk

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling 119 model year 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300s, C300 4Matics, C300 4Matic Cabrios, C300 4Matic Coupes, C300 Coupes, C300 Cabrios, C43 AMGs, C43 AMG Cabrios, C43 AMG Coupes, CLS450s, CLS450 4Matics, CLS53 AMG 4Matics, E53 AMG 4Matics, E450 4Matics, E450 4Matic Coupes, E53 AMG 4Matic Coupes, G550s, and G63 AMGs.

The Central Powertrain Controller (CPC) control unit could reset while driving, possibly causing an engine stall, posing a crash risk.

What to do

MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will update the CPC control unit software, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin December 28, 2018.
