    On November 11th, my husband and I took bids from several moving companies in the Jacksonville area. We decided on Father & Son because they were in the middle as far as quotes were concerned and offered what seemed to be good customer service. We contracted with them to move our modest 3 bedroom house on 11/18 between 11am-1pm. Keeping in mind that we had packed everything other than furniture and moved it ourselves. They only had to move an office containing two L shaped desk and a book case, our master bedroom (queen bed, chest, armoire, dresser), family room furniture (sofa,love seat, and sofa table) and guest bedroom (queen bed, chest, and a recliner.

    The first problem was that they arrived 7 1/2 hours late...yes 8:30pm!!! During the lapse in time, I was calling almost every hour on the hour, and finally they became very agitated and used abusive language as well as threated to have their crew turn around. Later, it was revealed by their own crew that they did not know they were supposed to move us until 8pm when they were in route home from a previous move. I spoke with a character by the name of John Johnson, supposedly the general manager out of Georgia. He was absolutely RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, and a DISGRACE to speak with. This company has no morals or ethics by which they operate. Their customer service stinks beyond belief. It is inconceivable to me how this company has managed to stay in business with service like this. Oh! for all of my aggravation and time, they gave me a whopping 10% discount on a $450 move! Just dandy!

    In November 2001 my husband & I scheduled a move with Father & Son Moving & Storage in Jacksonville, Florida. We were moving from a 2nd story apartment to a first floor apartment 3 miles down the road. We pretty much had the same problems as everyone else who posted. I was told to sign a large amount of paperwork, or they would not start my move. 3 men showed up, one did all the work, one did nothing, one was limping & told my husband he didn't even work for the company. They worked extremely slow, and managed to damage a majority of our furniture.

    This included a $10,000 solid cherry 4 poster rice bed, matching dresser, a big screen tv, and dropped our $500 wood computer armoire off a curb breaking it in half. It was destroyed. The move took twice the time it should have, and they charged us several hundred dollars more than they quoted us. When my husband refused to pay, they held our big screen tv on their truck & said they would not remove it until we paid them in cash. All the while standing around laughing at us.

    I was on the phone with the dispatcher & someone who answered the phone on & off pretty much the entire move. I even asked them to intervene, and send out different movers, and I was ignored.

    In the end I spent 6 months with the local Better Business Bureau going back & forth trying to get a settlement. There was no resolution, because I was told I signed those papers, and they would only give us $85. Which we never got by the way. I just finally gave up. I don't understand how this company stays in business, or why someone doesn't put them out of business permanently??? It baffles me.

    NG. of Chicago, Il (10/22/04)

    On Friday October 22, 2004 Father and Sons Movers (of Jacksonville) was hired to move me from Chicago, to Kansas City, Mo I spoke with a representative of the compnay Leon, we had even pass e-mail back and forth, I aggreed on the prices and was packed and waiting for them.. 9:00 am roll around no call no show I called this company at 10:00 am I was told that they were out to lunch when I asked for the Dispatch they say she was out to lunch and to call back, I waited until 1:00 still no call-back when I did get in touch with them they had the nerve to say that they had a problem and will be out to pick-up my things on Saturday 10/23/04, and if I didn't like it they would give me back my DEPOSIT and they hung-up the phone...

    I called back and get recording finally when the call was put through I told a Gentleman who wouldn't give me his name that YES I want my deposit back NOW.

    Also I found out by accident that a Pat Langley was in charge of refund and that it was a hit and miss getting her.

    I had to find another mover locally they in turn charge me $ 2.250.00 to move and was here in 3 hours...

    I want my deposit back of $ 350.00

    I called Father & Son moving to get a quote for moving our furniture. The woman I spoke with said they would send 3 men and a truck, that their workers were full time employees not temp help used by lots of movers. It all sounded great on the phone. My wife had everything packed and i had all the furniture taken apart all they had to do was load the truck, i estimated at most 3 men with me helpping also would take no longer than 3 hours.

    It was a nightmare, they were so slow and rough with our furniture. It was hot and they didn't bring anything to drink and expected me to furnish drinks for them. They broke 2 computer desks due to mis handleing. We only moved 4 miles to another apartment and it took them an hour to drive there which I had to pay for.

    It took them so long to load the truck i had to just get them to unload the truck at our new apartment and just set everything down in the middle of each room.

    Movers broke a music stand on my piano. After at least 11 phone calls, I still have not received a pro-active return call, nor has the music stand been delivered, repaired, as they promised. I would not recommend Father & Son, especially if they break something--you will never get the item back repaired, nor will you get them to admit. Also, they require 100% cash payment, so there's no recourse. These guys suck.

    My sister and I were moving to Florida and rented a storage unit in Florida for most of our possessions. We were going to be on the same moving van. Movers from a different company (All-Pro out of Worcester, MA) showed up to my home six hours early, took most of my possessions and put them on two floors of the condo complex. The movers told me my stuff was going on a different truck. In talks with Father & Son, I was told to have the movers bring everything back into my condo. When I went to tell them, they were gone.

    I spent the next six hours watching my possessions on two floors of the building to make sure nothing was stolen. The new movers seemed great, and my stuff was on the same truck as my sister's. In Florida, they stuffed everything into the storage unit. I am missing an end table to my living room, but because I signed the paperwork indicating the movers had moved me, I couldn't file a claim.

    Since I could only file within 90 days of the move, when I finally got my stuff from storage, it was too late to claim my bike (stuffed at the top of the storage unit against the garage door, thus ruining the front of the bike), and a table was destroyed.

    The movers showed up 5 hours late with 2 men (supposed to be 3 men). One of our CD towers was missing at delivery to our new place (~5 ft high, $100). The movers told us to submit a claim to the company. We did, however, the company said the claim was invalid because we signed the paper (that the movers told us to sign) that said they had completed the job.

    The movers also destroyed our lawn with their truck with tire marks.

    Our lawn was damaged.

    Our CD media tower is missing.

    Father & Son is an agent. They contracted to All-Pro to move my mother-in-law's stuff from MA to FL. The old lady was all by herself. Not only did the movers break things, they STOLE!

    Here's a list of what they did:

    1)they moved empty boxes leaving full boxes behind;

    2)they threw her good pictures in the dumpster;

    3)they broke an antique table and a dresser but denied the fault;

    4)they did not handle glassware with care and broke a lot of them (boxes clearly marked);

    I needed to move my furniture from NJ to FL. I called Father & Son and was told that $850 was all I had to pay. It was not an estimate. That is what they told me because I was not moving to many things. They came to pick up my stuff. (They arrived over 4 hrs late) They packed my stuff and it took 2 weeks for it to get there.

    Then I am told that I have to pay a little over $1500. I was about to start crying on the phone. They told me that if I didn't have the money they weren't going to give me my stuff. I was worried because I was not sure if I was able to get the money.

    My uncle paid the movers. Turns out that they gave us a box that wasn't even ours, and they haven't delivered one of my boxes and my Gazzelle (exercise equipment). I called once again and was told that they were still in the area and that they would deliver our missing stuff but they didn't. They still haven't delivered our stuff. I have been waiting for 2 weeks!

    I just called right now and he told me to call tomorrow.

    Very disappointed and very upset. This is the worst moving company ever.

    I want people to know that this company is not good.
