My mother booked move with these guys and got a quote of $1300 for 9 hours. 7 working and 2 driving. Not a bad price I thought. Then the move day came. They sent a guy with a heavy Jamaican accent to speak to my mother, he just kept telling her, "Don't worry about it. Just sign here, all the paperwork is ok." Well it was not. The two helpers both nice but the young girl was not much help when it came to the heavy items which I wound up moving with the other guy. Then we went to leave, they wanted a $1000 deposit. I said they had all the furniture in the truck that was insurance enough for the payment and the money was at the destination. We got to the drop off and they would not unload till they got the price for the move. ??? I was confused since the price I got was the price I thought we would pay.
Well after 60 minutes of calling the office 'cause no one was around to authorize a price they agreed that with a $1000 down they would move the stuff. After about 30 min the phone rang and the driver came around to tell me that they had to stop moving the items till I paid them another $1600. Big difference from the original price, I looked at the bill and we were at 7 1/2 hours into the move but they had put 8 hours OT on the invoice. Ow I am really confused. We have not even gotten to the 8 hour point in the move and they want 8 hours OT. Are they nuts? I called the office and Joe told me like a puppet, "I can not do anything this is what I was told the bill was and I can not get anyone to help me till tomorrow." I was not happy. Joe said either I pay the bill or they hijack my furniture back to the warehouse where I would pay storage, and a return trip to my house to drop off my furniture when I paid.
They charged me for a truck from Newark 3 hrs travel when they have a location in Brooklyn where I live so there would be no travel time. They broke items and said, "Yeah man it happens." The driver said, "If you do not like it. Take them to court." So many other things to list, I called the next day and was told they would call me back, 2 days later I called and was told they were too busy to talk to me now they would call me back. I'm still holding my breath. I want the $500 back that you strong armed me for. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS <<< TOTAL RIP OFF.

This company needs to be investigated by the state attorney and IRS and should be shut down. The reviews are horrible and my story is not different. I called a month in advance and spoke to Micheal who stated he was one of the owners. Micheal gave me a flat rate of 300 and 89 per hour for any extra hour. 300 includes 1 hour load, 1 hour unload and 1 hours travel. By the time they arrived to my destination it was only 2 and half hours of work. The driver would not unload my stuff unless I paid 456 cash. I got on the phone with Joe who screamed at me. Meanwhile the driver Eric gets in the truck ready to drive away with my belongings. One of the movers placed himself in front of the truck while I was on the phone with Joe. I paid the 456 in cash and then the movers damaged all my furniture.
My queen size Serta mattress and box spring were placed on the floor of the truck with no protection. So you can imagine how filthy it is. The mattress went from white to black and gray. I took pictures of everything. The story is too long to continue but I'm sure you get the picture. Father & Son are a organized crime company that no Government especially a Democratic country such as the Us should allow to stay open. Consumers need to be protected from such companies. Moreover, why are they demanding cash only as payment?? Because they are for sure hiding income from IRS.
Please report your experiences to the state's attorney and ask that this company change their practices or be shut down forever. Expose them by using every social media possible and contacting local news to broadcast a thorough report about their conduct. Micheal, who seems to forget his lies, later said he is only a dispatcher, but according to Lori from claims department, he is one of the general managers and related to the owners.

My review is much like all the others. When I called I told them I wanted to purchase replacement insurance for anything damaged, they said of course. My fault, I did not get anything in writing. When I asked for something in writing the man said, "You don't need it, you have a problem, you talk to me." He was so nice. I felt comfortable. When they picked up my furniture, they did not have enough moving men, and the truck was too small. The movers were a little rough around the edges but nice enough. I tipped them generously and the contents of my home were put into storage for 3 months until my new home was complete.
When they arrived at my new home and started to take things off of the truck every other piece of furniture had a nick or scratch. I called the office to complain while they were unloading. Within minutes they stopped working, demanded payment and said they would not unload one more item without pay. When I called the office back about a claim, they said I never purchased insurance. When the movers were getting ready to leave they actually stood there and waited for a tip. When I said they wouldn't be receiving one they could not understand why. They stood there almost in an intimidating manner. If they offer to move you for a dollar DON'T USE THEM. HORRIBLE!!!

I secured Father & Son for my move from Salem, NH to Chester, NH and storage. Since our house was under new construction, I knew I needed storage. Since Father & Son offered both, it seemed like a good idea. The movers were great. The issue that I have is in sales/billing - the sales person was rude and was yelling at me on the phone. The initial quote for moving from Salem into storage ended up costing me and additional $700 from what was quoted. Since my quote was for $1500, this was a HUGE oversight and miscalculation. Additionally I needed two trucks. So they had to go back to Billerica and bring another truck.
Storage fees seemed reasonable. I did have to fight for the price quoted on storage due to us having a hard time reaching each other via phone the sales person was not going to honor the rate special quoted. I did need an additional 4 vaults but it is what it is. I don't have an issue with that. On the trip from storage to Chester was another HUGE debacle. They did provide me with a more conservative/higher priced quote since the initial trip horribly inaccurate. The quote called for 2 crews and 2 trucks. The quote had a start time of 8-9AM however, they told me they started at 6AM. I didn't get two crews nor two trucks. I have a hard time believing it took 7.5 hours to pack ONE truck with a crew of 3 people.
All items were disassembled and wrapped/packed. In theory it should be quick to unload from a vault to a truck - no stairs, floors, etc. It takes less than an hour to drive from Billerica, MA to Chester, NH. They supposedly started at 6AM and arrived at my house at 2:30pm. It took them 2.5 hours to unload, unwrap their blankets and assemble 1 bed and 1 table. How does it take 7.5 hours to pack a moving truck? Since I didn't get two trucks nor two crews, I had to pay 5 hours of overtime. Since this resulted in a lower amount that was quoted, the sales guy thinks he gave me a deal.
I've had more than my fair share of moves and this one takes the cake. I believe that the sales team quotes inaccurately is nothing short of a scam. The movers also held onto two of my leather recliner chairs until the billing was resolved/paid for. They wanted cash/money order only and I was given a hard time when I wanted to pay via credit card. From experience, other people's moving experience, reviews I have read, and I recently consulted 2 other moving companies - ALL agree this is NOT right. Father and Son is dishonest and untrustworthy. Both other moving companies said it should not have taken 7.5 hours. With a crew of 3 people, 3-4hrs max was the average. I'm seeking resolution with the BBB since no one at Father & Son is willing to be reasonable.

This company deserves every terrible review. I used them only because they were the only movers available at the end of August. First, I was scheduled to move on Wednesday August 26th. I was given an estimate of $730 for the move and was given an arrival window of 7 - 9 a.m. I had only a four hour window in which to move into the other building, which is very strict about not exceeding the move-in time. Shortly after 9:00 on moving day, I was called by the manager and told that there was a problem with the truck and that they could not be there until 10:30, which would not have met the 12:00 move-in time at the other place. I was then not able to move until Friday and was assured that the truck would be deployed right at 7:00 and would be there no later than 7:30.
The truck arrived at 6:30 a.m. an hour early. Annoying as we had just gotten up, but, we figured that was a good thing so that we could definitely make the move-in time. This was a relatively light load as there were only about 5 pieces of furniture and almost everything I packed myself, with the exception of closets, which needed garment boxes. Everything seemed to be going very quickly, and I was satisfied that the moving would be completed well in advance of the 12:00 deadline. We had to leave at approximately 7:45 a.m. to get to the other place in time for a furniture delivery scheduled the same day. The other delivery came and went and we waited, and waited, and waited. At this point, I'm sure they are just sitting on it to jack up the price.
I was about to go down there and see what they were doing (it was only 3 miles) and then about 10:00 I get a call from them saying that they underestimated the amount of time it would take to move me. It was a six hour job and they estimated 4 and the amount of supplies it would be an additional $700 dollars. Of course now my hands are tied because they have my stuff and the clock is ticking to get it all in by 12:00. When they finally arrive it gets unpacked quickly enough and is in by the 12:00 deadline. Of course they prefer to take cash and discourage credit cards. Since they underestimated the amount due by half, I insisted on putting it on the card. The next morning, while unpacking my jewelry armoire, (which was taped shut) I discovered about $2000 of missing jewelry. I had carried all my valuable jewelry with me, but forgot about 4 pieces of sapphire jewelry.
Everything in the box was in order, except for that particular drawer, which was helter skelter with things tossed everywhere to cover up the fact that one compartment had been completely emptied. Don't be fooled by their alleged cheap moving costs, it is all a scam. Many reviews have said they were charged double the estimate. If I could give them less than one star, I would. Do yourself a favor, and use someone reputable, these guys are horrible. The manager, Michael flatly denies everything and told me to file a police report, which is advice I'm sure he gives all the time.

Moving is stressful. I had used Father & Son in a different county over 11 years ago and had a smooth experience. However, this time was very different. I don't want to talk bad about the movers as they worked a lot of hours, but it cost us a lot more than original quote. They do not tell you upfront about the overtime charges. They were nice the first time, and second time I called you could hear a slight change in their attitude. They claim to be the only movers that blanket your furniture. Not true. They send their workers with no tools or supplies. We did 80% of the packing. They just stood there waiting, thus wasting time, costing us more.
The worst part is that when we arrived at new location, just a few miles away, they held the furniture in the truck and said boss would not allow them to unload until we paid $2500. Outrageous! They said, "If we owe you money back, you will get it." I said, "No." Then there was a woman calling me on the phone begging me for a check for $54 or she could lose her job. Then one of the so-called bosses drives there, sits in his car, and said, "Waiting for big boss." For $54 dollars? Then he drove away. 45 minutes wasted. Now we are still going through items. We hope to find our camera, coffee pot, etc. -- still can't find. And a lot of furniture was dented, broken, scratched, just totally mishandled. Will never use them again!

I have never had such a bad experience moving like I had today with your company "Father and Son". From the moment your employees arrived at my residence:
2. Extreme abusive behavior from employees.
3. Extortion to pay up the full amount before delivery keeping my furnishings captive in the truck.
4. Furniture was never properly protected as you stated through our conversation therefore damaging many pieces.
5. Your men left half of my moving furniture in the service elevator/lobby fully packed and ran out after being paid.
6. There is also boxes missing.
7. Scammer- When I asked for the owner he pretended he wasn't there only after realizing the severity of the problem attending to the phone right away.
After looking at all the reviews it's just a matter of time when your company will be closed. I will report you to every social media: FB, IG, Twitter, BBB and many more. The owner Joe is a true con-artist/ thief that needs to be closed down immediately before taking advantage of more people.

I'm have waited to complain because I called the manager in charge of missing property. He didn't get back to me until I made several calls. He told me I only had 15 days. Because I had to chase him the time was longer. I am missing a lot of things. My surround sound speakers, pots & pans, brand new coffee maker etc. I am very upset with the company. I was told it’s my loss. Also he argued with me about the price which was from AD. The booking employee. He quoted me a price & I took it under the agreement I'd call back to confirm my move. I called back the next day and AD said the hourly rate went down 10 or 12 dollars which he gave me. On moving day the manager called me when they were there to confirm the price. He argued with me about that too. I'm very disappointed in the employees who work there. I LOST.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. Father and son did my moving on 03/05/2015 and they broke my 58" inch TV. They scratched my furniture as well. I called ** to discuss about insurance and he said that he was going to find out with the crew and call me back. And he never did. I have still not received a call so I'm assuming they probably they do not have insurance. I worked for in the moving industry for more than 5 years and I never experienced anything like this. I called him again and he told me to take the tv to a place that repairs TVs and ask a specialist how this could have happened to the TV. I wasted my time taking this TV to a repair shop because the guy told me the tv was hit somewhere and I called ** back to let him know what the specialist had said and give to ** the technician name, ** told me again that he is going to find out with the insurance and call me back on next business day.
Today is May 26 and I tried calling him again and left several messages and he never answered my phone calls again. That is not professional at all. Now I lost my tv that that costed me more than 1.000 dollar. When you have the need to hire a moving company try searching for review about the company because I chose this company without reviewing them and they are not a reliable and an honesty company to work with. They are a big scam!!!

I book this company without reading the reviews, which I never do but this was an emergency situation. Book them for 8am. They arrived at 2pm. The workers were great by the way. Its the owner who scams people out of their money. Anyways we started at 2pm and finish at 6 pm. You have to pay before they take any furniture off the truck. So I did. I was told prior that travel time is included in the $96 an hr rate.
At 5.15pm the owner calls one of the workers and ask if I paid and he told him yes. He ask how much. The guy told him. He then said that is not the right amount. Mind you my 4 hrs wasn't up yet. He then tells the guys to lock the truck with the rest of my stuff if I don't pay another $200 and something dollars. I couldn't believe this. But the workers said they weren't going to do that and he told the workers it would be coming out of their pay. I tipped all 3 workers $20 each, hug them and told them to find new jobs. It would take 2 more pages but just wanted all to know NEVER EVER book with this company. ZERO stars.

We hired Father and Son Moving to help us move to our home in September of 2014. Here is a breakdown: Good luck getting a hold of claims. The guy who answers the phone is the same guy for each location, and he never knows anything. The people who deal with claims are only there a few hours, for a few days a week, and never call you back. (I'll get to that later). What they don't tell you about on the phone is the 22% diesel surcharge, which if we do the math, easily adds a couple hundred dollars to the bill. You find out about this in the fine print when they arrive.
We filed a claim because we had over $430 worth of damage during the move. Once we had photos taken, proof of cost and a notarized document, we submitted the claim. Not only did we wait past the 60 days, we continued to attempt to get an answer for another 60 or so days, until we finally received our check...for $37. Yes, we received a check for $37 to cover the $430 worth of damage. During this process, the lady that did the claims changed 2 times, she was never reachable, they couldn't give us any update, and the supposed owner who signs the checks had health issues and was out constantly while the check sat on his desk.
This was the absolute worst company I have dealt with on so many levels. From lack of professionalism, to honesty, please avoid at all cost.

Relocated from Logansport, IN to Louisville KY a couple of weeks ago. Received 3 quotes from companies to handle our move. Chose Father & Son which turned out to be a huge mistake. No professionalism, lack of skills and definitely no organization when it comes to loading a truck. They treated our possessions as if they were trash. Just throw things in boxes without wrapping to prevent damage. All boxes packed with heavier objects on the top which damaged the more fragile items below. China is usually wrapped as individual pieces (at least by a respectable moving company) but not this one. Let’s wrap cups together then a stack of plates with no material between the individual items. Plates on top with extreme weight pushing down on the items under them. Can't put the bed together cause they don't remember where the additional pieces are. Call the guy that is not on the final destination unload. Duh, I put 'em in a box.
Of course none of the boxes were labeled! All boxes emptied and no parts for the bed. Had to buy a new frame, Antique mirror and dresser. Can't attach the mirror since it's damaged and lost pieces. All lamp shades destroyed due to improper packaging. Glass chandelier going out in the trash since it’s beyond repair. Same for an antique sewing machine cast iron base converted to end table. Let's not mention the fact that I'm missing items... center speaker to surround sound, exercise bike that was basically brand new, folding step stool, etc. They called on the delivery day to say they had trouble with their truck and would be delayed. No problem, or so I thought!
I've formed an opinion that they off loaded one of the 2 trucks and reloaded into one that ran. Here's where my items disappeared and I gained a few others that I did not have prior to the move. Someone out there missing a cast aluminum lawn chair, or glass shelving or table tops? I have had no response to my request to file a claim with their corporate office. Supposed to be in Houston but cannot find a way to contact them. What a bunch of scam artist. Consumers please note that homeowners insurance does not cover damaged items only lost or stolen. Also expect to be dinged with higher premiums if you choose to file a claim.

When the drivers arrive there, refuse to pack the things. They also refused to take the artwork saying that they did not want to be responsible. After leaving our office, only after one and a half hours of work, they called her supervisor to tell them that it was our staff that told them that they did not need their help any longer. When I called to complain, the manager didn't believe me. I informed him that his behavior and attitude is the result of his poor ratings of service. Called and received a quote for a moving job. The price was $800 at a rate of $96/hr. They told me they would disassemble the furniture move all my boxes and bags and reassemble the furniture and set it up in the correct places. Told me the job was simple and I was only moving about a 20-block radius so it would only be about 6-8 hours not to exceed $800. 3 men arrived to my house at 7:15 am. They arrived with no tools to disassemble the furniture so they took all the boxes and bags first. My husband gave them handheld tools and had to assist them with taking the furniture apart. This took hrs. They then took the front door to the apartment off so they could get the furniture out. Then left. Never put the door back on. They left some pieces to my furniture and didn't take all the boxes and bags I had set out for them.
Once we got to the new apartment, they requested payment of $980. It hadn't even reached 8 hours - they said "if we finish before we'll give you money back." MY husband and the gentleman counted the money together and he gave my husband a receipt. They put the mattresses and furniture in wrong rooms they broke my very expensive industrial sewing machine. They only put my bed back together and my refrigerator doors on but did not set up anything else. Once 3:00 came they left without finishing the job. But then came right back and told my husband he shorted them $100. They left my house in complete disarray. When I started taking pics of the many pieces of paper I had to sign he then tore up my contract and said "get your own mover to get your stuff out of here." It saved me over 150 because I found somebody who moved me out of there within 2 days and was relieved to get my stuff back home. I paid more than was explained to me. I won’t use F and S ever again. The service was unsatisfactory.

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!! I got quotes from another company in town and Father and Son came in slightly less expensive per hour, had one less hour minimum & travel time was less expensive. I should have adhered to the old saying, you get what you pay for. They damaged my walls, banisters and door frames. They also damaged my two sofas. Before leaving I pointed out the damage. The mover gave me his cell and the number of his boss but assured me he'd be back out to repair the dents and gouges in my walls. It was late, he said he'd call the next day. After not hearing anything for a day I called his boss, Kyle. Kyle has yet to return my call.

IF I COULD GIVE THEM 0 STARS, I WOULD!!! I wish I had read other people's reviews before hiring this company! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.....BIGGEST SCAMMERS IN SOUTH FLORIDA! YOU WILL REGRET IT AND HAVE THE WORST DAY EVER!
The day started off with them arriving at 6:50 AM when my time was 7:30/8:00. The day before, JOE (manager) called me to ask if they could move my time slot to after 12:00 because they had another job come in at 10:30 but I couldn't so I know they arrived early because they wanted to get to another job. I had just gotten out of the shower because I wasn't expecting them until after 7:30 and they rang my doorbell off for 10 minutes until I let them in. They proceeded to tell me about the "infamous" 22% surcharge which wasn't told to me on the phone and when I went to call the office, the driver "Kevin" said "who are you gonna believe, me or the guy on the phone?" The "guy on the phone" (Joe) worked out a "flat rate" with me which at the moment I thought was fair but later regret!!
The movers had the worst attitudes ever the whole time even though I was trying to be nice and make the mood light. I offered them food and water and to buy them lunch but it didn't help. They complained about everything from the amount of stuff I had to how far my storage unit was from the door (not my problem and all was told to JOE when I booked them). The clincher was when we got to the storage unit, I had go to the bank to get more money to pay them the extra that I wasn't expecting (because they only take cash or they will hold your stuff on their truck). KEVIN insisted that I pay him before I leave even though I explained I had to get the additional $50 so I gave him $400 and they had my stuff in their truck. I was the one taking a risk but when I returned with the rest of the money, KEVIN started screaming at me that I refused to pay them before they unloaded and they left a bunch of my stuff in the middle of the hallway. They didn't pack the storage unit correctly making me have to get another unit. I had asked them to put the big furniture in first so that if there were little things left over, I could take them with me in my car, but they left my king-size mattress, a desk, and dining room table out which I couldn't take with me.
I called JOE and at first he was on my side and said they should have followed my instructions. KEVIN then called him and after he talked to JOE, JOE changed his attitude and turned on me saying that because I disputed the 22% surcharge in the beginning, I set KEVIN off in a bad mood and that's why they gave me the horrible service and I caused it. In essence, he was saying that I deserved bad service because I complained. I had the right to complain because I was being hassled and I knew it. The movers then left with my stuff sitting in the hallway and me and the girl who worked in the office had to put it into the 2nd unit ourselves, which, by the way, she was the most helpful, wonderful person and silver lining in this black cloud and thankfully a witness to the horrifying treatment I received from these guys.
I conclude that JOE and these movers are in this scam together and they took off on me because I had paid them upfront which they harassed me until I did, and when JOE learned that they were paid he told them to leave and go to their next job. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND MOST DISGUSTING SERVICE I HAVE EVER GOTTEN FROM ANY COMPANY EVER!!! NOT JUST MOVING COMPANIES BUT ANY COMPANY I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE AND I AM 45!!!! I don't usually complain, in fact this is the first bad review I have ever written because I have high tolerance for people and human error but these guys are hustlers and scammers and I felt I had to warn others. DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!

Spoke to Mike to get a quote and asked for a copy of the contract. Movers showed up with contract in pieces. I asked to leave it to read since he was on the clock to move. Said he had to go over it with me. Mike quoted me $520.00 per month or part of it. I asked if there were any additional fees. He said "no." Charged $1040.00 additional to "move in and out of vault" on TOP of the 5 hours I paid at $109.00 per hour. Another $520.00 for packing materials. 90% of all was in boxes. I even boxed nightstands! Used the storage from Sept 26- October 16- 21 days. They charged $520 for the five days in September AND another $520 for the 16 days in October. Instead of $520 for the 21 days I was charged $2500. Boxes missing and LOTS broken - I had red stickers and fragile on boxes and asked arrow marking UP - very clear. I asked nothing to be stacked on top. ALL came back smashed! Tables were broken. Joe's response was, "Go ahead - try to sue me!" His mother tried to help by saying, "Can't you work something out?" Joe yelled at her to be quiet and get away! Nice guy.

I hired father and son and they are the worst people to deal with. They showed up late, told me if they were to move me I had to sign all the papers that needed signing before they would start. I was not in a position to move. I had to vacate my home as it was sold. They talked about their tip all the time which I gave them 60.00, 20.00 for each guy. I was told 4 men and three showed up. After the move which was double the amount of time quoted I could only pay 1/2 of the cash required. I'm sure he is hiding income from the government.
There were damages to two pieces of furniture so I called them the next day over and over and they said, "We will have someone call you." Well they never called so I called again with the same response and again no one returned the call. Terrible service. In fact they got a flat tire in the owner's pick up truck and had to take off with my furniture in the moving truck. They were gone for a long time as they needed to get something to fix the tire of the pickup truck to fix it. So they were using the moving truck to drive him around. It was hell, pure Hell, a nightmare.

Every Father and Son customer review was almost an identical version of what our family experienced. We moved from Fort Myers, FL to Naples this summer and had our furniture in storage for 2 months while our new home was being built. I ran a company for 35 years and have never in my life dealt with such low life. We were never provided a written quotation from Father and Son, as required by law. Our cash buyers wanted in our house very quickly, so I was foolish not to do the required research on these movers. What a disaster; they extorted us and doubled the price after they got our high end furniture in their truck. They demanded cash up front, never returned phone calls, were extremely rude, ($800 quotation from the furniture repair professional) and refused to pay for any repairs. Some of our items disappeared (I truly believe they were hand selected and are sitting in the movers' living rooms)! I could write a book on this horrible experience, but simply want to report this in the hope that someone will read all of these reviews before considering this company!

After serving them drinks and lunch for 20 mins, they had the nerve to charge for another half hour ($87.50) for going 10 minutes over the starting time. From the get go, the guys who I admit worked hard, talked mostly about their tip. Our precious antique hope chest was gouged. A bottle of liquor bottle was broken with no attempt to clean it up. The only blankets used seem to be used only on the piano. Would not hire them again.

Any positive review for this company is a farce. It is either Mike or Sal writing it. Me and my husband are in our 70s and called Mike for an estimate. He arrived and was very nice and said it would be $700 total and that they would be there Friday at 8 am. They showed up at 4pm Friday. They loaded everything by 6. They drove to Long Island from Queens by 8 and then said it would be $1002 and would not remove anything until they got paid. After much arguing and them trying to tell me about a 9 hour total I had no choice but to pay them. Upon completion by 10 pm (total of 6 hours) 2 of my mirrors were broke and after they left realized that while two guys loaded and unloaded everything one guy was in truck going through every single box taking things out and stealing them. Called the next day - still haven't gotten a response. I didn't think there were people like this in this world but after 77 years I guess I haven't seen everything. Not even mad just disappointed in so many different individuals taken advantage of an elderly couple.

I reached out to Father and Son as I had a rental contract negotiation go bad last minute and we needed to move. The move was only 5 miles but we had a 5 bedroom, 4800 sq ft home to move. I moved most of my ultra-fragile assets myself the weekend before (flat screens, glass items, etc.) as I wanted to make this a transition versus a move. Two trucks showed up at 8am as scheduled and 6 guys loaded the truck in 4 hours. I think it helped that I had Dunkin' Donuts and coffee for them and bought them lunch. They were as professional as could be expected, got everything into the new home without issues. They helped take the doors off of a large refrigerator to try and get it into my office over the garage but the door molding around the door of the room held us back. There were a few scratches on the new refrigerator but it wasn't their fault.
I met the owner a few days prior to the move as I stopped by to rent a dozen moving blankets and a few garment boxes. He had one of his guys load up my SUV with the supplies and when I offered to pay him, he told me that it was on him as long as I returned them after I used them (that was nice). Was a good experience overall from my perspective.

HORRIBLE IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT FOR THIS COMPANY!!!! FIRST I was quoted for $90 an hour, which is the rate of two men when the "son" promised to send out three men. He calls me moving day at 5 in the morning to tell me that although scheduled for noon, the men would be coming at 8 to move my stuff and because of my apartment, he'd be charging me the full price. This being moving day what choice did I have?
The movers show up at 7 am, and while I was surprised, I was still okay. The movers seemed polite but while moving things from my bedroom (I am a 20 year old girl) one of the movers yelled out asking about a picture I had in my room, making comments about one of my girl friend's physical appearances, which was not appreciated.
I did not have a lot of things that needed to be moved, so it did not take a long time for the truck to be packed, maybe an hour at most. They followed me to my parents home, where I was moving into. As they unloaded, a mover pulled me aside and told me if I did not pay the $398, they would not continue to bring my things in. So I gave him the cash, as well as $100 tip making my total FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for two and a half hours and two miles of driving from my apartment to my parents. After they finished, I was in my bedroom and a mover told me they were done and I needed to sign them out. He did not give me any opportunity to look, only stating that I was signing the time they finished. I noticed a few days later that my television was missing.
I called and spoke with an employee, told her my tv was missing and she took my name and number and assured me someone would call back right away. A few days later, I heard nothing back. I called again and spoke to someone new, told him the same deal. He placed me on a hold, after five minutes he comes back on the line and asks why I am calling back now and not earlier. I told him the situation again, and he placed me back on hold for another 25 minutes. He never came back, the line went dead.
I called back, he answered. He told me that he spoke with the driver and lost and found and they knew nothing of my TV. I asked what can be done about this and he said nothing, how can he believe someone calling so much later and what's done is done. He said I signed the paperwork stating that I went inside the truck and inspected it to be sure I had all my belongings. I told him the mover never told me that was an option to which he replied, "C'mon Sarah, you're a smart girl read the fine print." I had enough of his accusing, demeaning tone, so after one more attempt at asking what can be done, I ended the call. I am so disgusted and insulted with this company. DO NOT HIRE FATHER AND SON MOVING!!!!! They will take advantage of you in any way they can.

PLEASE, PLEASE read this review. This was by far the worst experience that I have ever had with any company. My wife and I are both very well educated and did a lot of research when picking a moving company. We needed to move from Philadelphia to Tampa by January 1. We decided to go with Father and Son after having extensive conversations with their sales rep Adilson (AD). Our belongings were to be picked up on Dec 26th and delivered by Dec 31st. After discussing the travel time with AD, he told us that we were likely going to fill the truck and that our things would be transferred directly to Tampa and arrive on the 30th (i.e., no stops in between to pick up other people's belongings, which many companies do). We ended up changing our move-in date and paid extra to move into our rental house a day early because of his recommendation.
And so it begins... The drivers did not arrive until the morning of the 27th. They offered to come to our house at 10 pm on the 26th to start, but we deferred the offer. It was only 2 men for our entire 2700 square foot house. It took them 2 days and I will say that they worked very hard and I was impressed with how much they got done in those 2 days. I was willing to overlook our recycle bin filled with beer bottles when they left because of how quickly they got it all done. Also, the fact that they were not professional in any sense of the word.
Needless to say, our things did not arrive Dec 30th - They ended up arriving on January 9th, which is 10 days from our quoted date. I contacted numerous people including the supervisor R. **, who assured me that they would be delivered in a timely manner. I even spoke to one woman who told me that if I wanted them directly delivered I should have paid $10,000. In fact, that is what we paid for the move! She then proceeded to tell me that I should have reviewed a specific line, in a specific location in the contract that states the sales rep dates are only estimates and that its not considered late until 14 business days (weekends are not including in those 14 days).
The fun continued after our things actually arrived. I had to stand in the front yard and direct every box because none of them were labeled correctly. For the boxes that weren't labeled at all, they just got dumped in the garage. Upon unpacking the boxes, we found quickly that, not only were things damaged (ceramic pots were packed in our down comforters, wrapping paper was wrapped in the same boxes as our lifting weights), but things were not packed by room. Things from our basement were stuffed in with things from our second floor bedroom, etc.
I have never written a negative review before but I felt so strongly about the inadequacies of this company and the blatant lies that we were told, that I am hoping that this might save someone else the hassle and pain that we went through. Best of luck on your move!

Reading all these other stories tells it all. I was quoted 1k to move my son from P.A. to Chelmsford. They arrived at his small apartment... told me it would be another 400-600 because he had more stuff than the inventory list, yes, but minimal. Then they called back after they were done packing stating besides the 417.00 up front deposit I had given Father and Son con men, it will be another 1780.00 to move him. For this whole past week they don't answer phones, dont' call back, total scam. I was in a hurry to move him and did not do my homework on movers in the area.
Shame on me, but I did not expect this. It gets worse. Upon doing some investigation Father and Sons were fined by the Massachusetts Attorney General in NOV 2013 202,000 and have been warned if this cheat and con game keeps up they will fine them again and shut them down. I hope enough people file a complaint with the A.G. to shut them down for good. This is totally out of control. I am still deciding if I will sue. I would just have to get in a long, long line I can see that.

I received a verbal estimate for moving the contents of my 3-bedroom apartment. Mike from Father and Son said it would take 5 to 6 hours. I spoke to him several times prior to my move because I awaited a closing date. Upon securing a closing date, we finalized a date for the move. When the four men from Father & Son arrived at my house, the head mover surveyed my home and indicated that it would be a fairly easy move since I had limited boxes and the move was primarily furniture on one level. He had me sign several pieces of paper. I told him I didn't want to sign some of the forms because most of the forms were not filled in yet. He said he would get in trouble if the forms were not signed and that they could not start the move until the forms were signed. Since I really needed to move, I went ahead and signed the forms (FIRST WRONG MOVE ON MY PART).
About four hours into the move, I was upset because one of the movers smelled heavily of alcohol. That same mover put two large fist-sized holes into the home I was moving out of. So, I called Mike from the office and complained about: 1) the drunk mover, 2) the large holes in the walls, and 3) the fact that the guys were just standing around and not working most of the time. He spoke to the head mover, and they predicted they would be done fairly soon.
It took the movers 7.5 hours to finally load the truck with my furniture. The whole job was estimated to be not more than 6 hours. They still need to unload the truck. When we got to the unloading location, the head mover told me I had to pay them $2,150 prior to them unloading my possessions. They estimated that it would take another 5 hours to unload my belongings and there would be another hour for travel. I had $1,400 in cash on me, and it was nearly midnight. I maxed out for the day at the ATM, and didn't have anyone I could call at that time of night. So, they partially unloaded my belongings and kept the expensive stuff on the truck.
The next day they said I owed them another $500 since they would have to redeliver the remaining 1/3 of my belongings. I didn't have the extra money. So, they kept my stuff. Needless to say I spoke with several people at the company and they refused to redeliver my belongings. I ended up putting in a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and called my local Attorney General's office. A detective for the Attorney General's office finally received a copy of a bill that was derived with my signature already on the form (recall I stupidly signed forms when information was not yet filled in). The bill had my signature on it with an amount over $2,600 - like I would agree to that amount.
I figured I would just go ahead and pay that amount and just get my belongings back. When I went to the office to pay that amount, they said that since I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, they would not be able to provide me with a discount for storage and I was now liable for not only the $2,600, but another $1,200.00. Plus, since I refused to sign additional papers relieving them of any liability to me, they charged me an additional $200.00. So, I ended up paying about $4,000.00 to get my belongings from Father & Son because I refused to retract my complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
When I went to the office to pay the remaining amount, they refused to provide me with copies of receipts indicating the amounts I paid. I wanted my receipts total the $4000 I paid. However, they kept trying to give me receipts that were different from what I paid. It took me two hours to get out of there. I ended up calling 911 twice because at one point they took over $2,500 from me and didn't want to give me a receipt. The difference I had given them the night of the move so that they could deliver some of my possessions.
When they came to deliver my remaining possessions, needless to say all televisions were broken. It looked like they took a hammer to the largest television. My 10-year-old son's television had a smashed screen. He was devastated. My theater cabinet was broken. My upright piano was completely broken. The beautiful cabinet was cracked. Several smaller items were broken. I didn't feel right about the second delivery. So, I videotaped my larger items as they unpacked them and took off the blankets because I had a feeling they would retaliate against me.
I'm disappointed in my losses, but more importantly I'm disappointed that no one is policing this company. They are robbing innocent hardworking people and they are allowed to get away with it. How are they allowed to get away with charging a single mother $4,000 to move 10 miles? Someone needs to make them accountable for their actions.

Company and I came to a settlement
Original Review: Jan. 9, 2014
My family and I were moving from CT to MI. The move came up suddenly and we needed movers quick. They called me soon after I requested a quote. The man I spoke with was very pleasant and helpful. He went over my inventory and explained things to me. I asked for my things to be picked up on Saturday, he said that was no problem. He said I should expect a call for an exact pick up time when the move got closer. He also said he thought the inventory list was over estimated so we wouldn't be surprised when things were dropped off. He said better to overestimate than under which I agreed.
I received a phone call Friday saying the truck would be there Sunday between 8am-11am. I was upset because I thought they were coming Saturday but I understood because of weather issues. The driver was supposed to call one hour before arrival. Sunday came and I didn't receive a call from the driver until 12:30pm saying he was still on a drop off and wouldn't be to me until 8pm! He apologized and asked if it was okay like I had much of a choice, I had already given the company a large deposit. I said it was fine. He then called me at 7:45pm to tell me he wasn't going to arrive until 10pm!
My family and I had already left for MI and it was my in-laws that were at the house waiting for the movers to arrive. They had to be to work Monday morning. The movers didn't leave the house until 12:30am. They also charged us for an extra 900lbs, which they were estimating I suppose since they hadn't weighed the truck yet. They also tacked on several charges for extra packing materials which I was unaware of. They tacked on an extra $1000. Then when I called to speak to a manager at the company he gave me an attitude the entire conversation and spoke to me like I was a child.
The company still has my furniture and we don't know when we will be receiving it. I have worked in many customer service industries and I cannot believe the way they handle themselves. I also made them aware that I have two small children, a 10-week-old and a 14-month-old and I'm left without a crib and changing table. They didn't care. I would strongly advise people to not use this company!

So they had no business promising me Friday. Moving company finally called night before and said no way for Friday. So I had to reschedule multiple things. Then Saturday morning cones and no truck, no call. Finally at noon, "Truck broke down and won't be in until Sunday." Once again, I had to rearrange multiple things. Then they promised they would deliver Sunday afternoon. We didn't get to destination until 8 pm that night and it would've taken another 5 hrs to unload. Disastrous! No discount! They WAY underestimated the total pounds so I had to pay an extra 60 cents PER POUND over!! Which was another $1500! They should be out of business! Do not use them!

This move was a move from hell. They showed up at 9:30 with three men. One about 21, one about 25 and the other about 60. The 25-yr-old told me that he did not want to get wet because it was raining and was not going to go up and down the stairs and at 11:00 they replaced him. They sent someone to take his place and he was not happy with the young man because he was not "strong" and kept telling him that so the 21-year-old walked off the job which left me with two men. My friend's son had to take boxes up and down and help him move and the older man was going up and down and not loading the truck because he had to help. To sum it up, we left NY at 8:30 PM and arrived in NJ about 11:00 and did not finish unloading until 4 AM. My daughter had to come there to help and between her and her friend they unloaded the boxes (two women).
Bottom line is my living room table is dirty (it is beige and new) because they did not cover it in the rain, my couch was ripped and my mirror (which is the back of my bedroom which is a bridge) was broken. The bedroom was never put together because of the time. I was charged for three men and only had two. They told me before we left Brooklyn that it may be about $3500/$4000. I argued with them and was told it was $2,500 and I should go to my neighbors or family to get the money or they would confiscate my furniture. It is a sham what they did and I am suing them. They are rude, unprofessional and they manipulate you. You should pay for what you get and in this case I should get paid for my mirror, cleaning my table (which has to be done by professionals) and the upholstery company who now has to fix my couch. I should also get money back for the fact that I had two men working and not three and I was paying a three-man rate.

Hired Father & Son to move our furniture from MO to AZ 10/12/13. They contracted out the move to Thompson Moving Inc., Florida. We received a binding estimate from Father & Son for a certain amount. This included labor, fuel and mileage. We also requested a weight ticket to verify the load which was also put into the estimate. After being 2 days late picking up our belongings, Thompson Moving Inc. gives us another binding estimate when the furniture is delivered in Arizona. On Thompson Moving estimate, it says we owe them $805 for fuel and mileage and $600 more for overage on weight. This was on top of the binding estimate of $5234 that was originally quoted by Father & Son Moving. We asked to show us the weight ticket but they refused to produce it. The owner of the company, Shawn Thompson, was called and he also refused us the weight ticket. When I asked why are we paying for the fuel and mileage when the original estimate says it is included, he replied, "This is what you owe or your furniture will go to Florida." Both companies refused to resolve this issue. In fact when Father & Son was contacted one final time they said they don't want to hear about this again. DO NOT hire either company. They are on Movers.com and should never have the chance to work with customers.

I hired Father and Son to move my handicapped daughter to Texas. They said they were full service. They took an inventory over the phone and said, they would do another inventory at the house, which they did not. They brokered out On Time Moving and Storage. When they showed up, they made us pay to shuttle stuff with a U-Haul so I guess we couldn't see the truck. They agreed to bill the bank due to my daughter's condition. They said they had another family on the truck, didn't have room for all her stuff. They would send a second truck. That didn't happen. In fact one hour before arriving in Texas, they demanded cash or they wouldn't unload. The employee offered a friend of ours weed to smoke a joint with him. They demanded cash, the best thing the bankers could do with no one having an account down there was offer them a cashier's check at one of their branches. They refused.
They hassled my daughter who lost her 3 children in a fire and she hadn't been right yet. The State determined she was disabled. Then they threw out she was being hostile using racist words at them, and that's why they demanded cash. Lie number one, they called us en route an hour prior to arriving. I have proof of that with phone records, text messages and emails. To blame a broken-hearted mother for their unprofessionalism is totally wrong above every level. To lie is even worse. My daughter has been sleeping on hardwood floors, with nothing in the house because of On Time Moving and Father and Son contracted them out. They even wanted us to pay a shuttle 5 hundred dollars to move her stuff from the end of the street to the house.
We are still fighting them and the sad thing is all they have to do is bring her stuff and receive a cashier's check instead of cash. Makes no sense to me! Does it you? They want money upfront before they bring her the furniture and children's things. I have been advised not to do this for they will keep the money and the stuff. Please pray for my daughter to get her stuff. We can replace everything but her children's memories in heaven. That would destroy her forever not to get that back. I need help. She has tried many times to kill herself. Well, with them holding her children's belongings, that just might push her to give up. Please pray, please help us.

We contracted with Father and Son relocation, from Billerica, MA to provide service for a recent move from Boston to Chicago, IL. We had explored varying national and local moving companies and arranged for three in-home estimates. We selected Father and Son because of the informative nature of the Sales person, Joe, the price of the estimate (It was the average of the three estimates I had received), the promised date of delivery, and the expectation that our belongings were in good hands.
The original estimate was for $5775.29 - We paid a deposit of $1890.97. Another moving company (Cross-Country Movers) showed up at our door on 8/20/2013, indicating that Father and Son didn't have the capacity to move us. The movers loaded our belongings in a truck that appeared rented and not affiliated with any moving company, and then let us know that the cost was actually over $10,000, based on the cubic feet of our belongings. The mover indicated that we had more boxes that originally estimated - and this was the reason why the actual cost was doubled. We pointed out, yes, we had 12 more small-medium size boxes, however, we had two less pieces of furniture (two recliner chairs) - and we were puzzled regarding how this difference could result in almost double the cost of the move. We have moved up and down the east coast at least six times and we have never experienced a difference like this.
The driver called his boss at Cross-Country, and I spoke with Vance at Father and Son, and they decided to give us a discount on my move, and the resulting cost was $8764.00, - which is $2989.00 over the in-person estimate price. Our belongings arrived over a week after the promised date, and there were many damaged items. Apparently, our things were in a warehouse in Jersey City for the week, and were moved between trucks. Our mattress pad was only partially covered in moving blankets, but, much of it was exposed. We paid the driver the balance of the $8764.00 because this was a different driver, and it was midnight.
Since receiving our things, we wrote several letters to Father and Son, followed-up with phone communications to both Father and Son and Cross Country movers; however, to date, we have no affirmation of the disservice of this company. Father and Son Relocation has been under-investigation by the MA Attorney General's office, and also the FBI, because this is an interstate business. Despite knowing this, we proceeded to contract with the local moving company based on the informative nature of salesperson, the agreed upon date of delivery, the price, and the promise that our belongings would be handled in a professional and high quality manner. None of this occurred.
It is unfair to a consumer to be in a position to have to pay double than what was previously agreed upon in an in-person estimate. A customer makes a decision to hire a mover based on several variables, including price, quality, customer service, and timing. When none of these things are honored in a transaction, a company should be held responsible. We hope others can learn from our experience with both Father and Son and Cross Country Movers and choose a more honorable company. Thank you.

They never showed and we kept getting excuses that they were still at an earlier job and then they were on their way and then they are almost 2 hours away but on their way still. This was all just **. They never showed putting us out big time. We wasted a whole day waiting on these movers. We had to find a more reputable company for the next weekend. Absolute terrible unprofessional experience. I do not recommend anyone to deal with this company. Do your research online and you will see all of the bad reviews. This company was recommended by one of my friends. The move went smoothly. Our movers were a little late but were polite and went right to work when they arrived. Not like some other movers I have used before that tried to run the clock up by going very slow. I own a 1,200-lb. gun safe which was part of the move. They showed up with a really nice safe dolly (hydraulic) which moved the safe from our second floor with ease. And no damage to our house. All in all, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable mover in Denver, Colorado.

Back in June, I scheduled a move for July 26. At that time, I specifically remember the man asking me what time I wanted the movers there. I replied 8 a.m. The day before the move, we got a confirmation call that said they would be at our house between 11 & 1. Of course, I called back, panicked, and I was told that it was in the system I had specifically asked for a p.m. move. Who in their right mind requests a p.m. move? Especially when you're under a time restraint to get out of your house because the new people want to move in. There was nothing they were willing to do.
At 12:56 on our moving day, I called the company and spoke to Robert. He was the rudest person I have ever come across in my life. I told him that I would like a discount for the fees for the inconvenience and he said no, that I should receive a call by one giving me the arrival time, and that they were following their "protocol".
I finally received the phone call at 1:02. I was told they would be at my house moving things by 1:45. They finally showed up at 2:05. At 2, I called and spoke with Robert yet again, and this time, the man was so rude, he actually made me cry. I should have been moved into our new house by 2. By the time the movers got everything loaded and unloaded at our new home, they were so late to their next job that was in Ft. Collins of all places that I really felt like they were just rushing so bad and it took away from the quality of my move. There were a couple of dings in my walls at the house we moved out of, and my daughter's white furniture had scratches on the headboard.
I have never in my life been spoken to the way the "manager" spoke to me over the phone. Of course, I did raise my voice as I was and still am very upset with this company. I don't plan on moving again, but if I do, I will NEVER use them again. I will never refer this company to anyone. Moving is stressful as it is, and people hire moving companies to take some of the stress away, not add to it.

I recommend that no one use this company. I was scheduled for a move on July 1, 2013. I sat waiting all day for the movers to show, and then I received a call later in the afternoon stating there was a rain delay and they wanted to move my belongings that evening. Not sure where the rain was since it was a nice day at my home. I told the company I did not want to move my items in the dark and agreed for the next day as my move was local and very close by.
The movers arrived on time, but were rude and careless. They complained about the weight of the boxes which I, being female, was able to pick up, so I was not sure why men encountered issues. And this company claims to move pianos. Not sure how if they cannot lift boxes. They did not have enough packing products with them and carelessly moved my goods. Also, the damage to my walls are inexcusable. I called the headquarters and did not get much help from the staff there either. The headquarters then contacted the movers which made them very angry.
There was one of the men who seemed to be the spokesperson and told me since I called the headquarters that they would control the pace of the move from that point, and they became snails. He told me that since I called to complain, they were going to take their time. He did not care about all of the damage to the walls and said there was nothing he could do about it. I need all of my walls repainted and they wrecked a door. When we got to the receiving end for my goods, they asked me to order them a pizza for lunch. I told him I was not familiar with the area and did not know who to call.
A food truck went by and they decided to buy from the truck. The guys sat in their truck eating as I was on the clock. I had provided them water and thought they would have made lunch provisions, yet I was charged for them to sit and eat. Once the job was finished, one of the movers said, "We did not damage the walls on this end." As if that was something to be proud of considering the damage at the other end. Then he asked me where the tip was for them. I was livid beyond belief, but kept quiet, paid the bill which I was overcharged for, and decided to file a claim with the BBB. I will pursue further as well. Please do not use this company.

Also missing are electric heater and GPS unit. Much of my crystal glassware, everyday glassware, and pieces given to me as gifts were smashed. If that wasn't bad enough, the actual movers (three of them) would not let me leave until they strong armed me and picked my wallet clean ($330.00). I have made several attempts to contact them only to be brushed off.
I had my local law enforcement looked into the matter. I was told that one had TWENTY (yes 20) convictions for assault and battery, one frequented a local pawnshop and the third person had a record as well. This absolutely infuriates me! I was in a bind and did not do any research on this moving company. I had to move and store a 1-bedroom apartment. I called Father and Sons Movers and was quoted a price to move my stuff to their storage facility of $500.00 which I gave to them the day of the move. Once they had all of my belongings, the real bill was sent to my house for $4000.00. It turns out they charged me $1800.00 for packing materials (tape and wrapping paper) and they did not wrap much at all. The movers that showed up were lazy and from the hood of Newark; "Sorry, but it's true." I then stored my belongings in the facility in Newark for 11 months due to an ongoing home repair damaged in Hurricane Sandy.
During the 11 months, they threatened to auction off all of my belongings if I didn't catch up with the ever rising bill. The 11 months of storage cost me almost $4000.00 bringing my bill up to $8000.00 and they still had possession of my belongings (keep in mind here that I only moved from a 1-bedroom apartment). Once I had a place to move my stuff into, I requested a redelivery price and they came back with $3800.00 which I fought with threats from an attorney and the Better Business Bureau.
I ultimately had to contact the BBB and submit a claim. After some time, I received a response from the BBB stating that they tried to contact Father and Sons Movers on 3 separate occasions with no response from Father and Sons. The BBB recommended that I hire an attorney. Finally after no assistance from anyone, I had to pay the redelivery bill bringing my total Father and Sons' experience to almost $12,000.
The redelivery was a disaster. The movers (again from the hood in Newark) showed up 4 hours late and they began the slow process of unloading the truck. The 3 guys that were on the redeliver knew how much I had paid and assumed that they were not going to receive a tip for their service so they did the bare minimum. They did not reassemble anything (my bed, furniture, or entertainment centers) which they disassembled prior to the move. They did not even unwrap my stuff and left it for me to do. I was left with a pile of papers in my garage that I had to force them to take (I mean I paid $1800.00 for the packaging materials; the least they could do is discard it for me). The 1 mover told me to throw it out slowly in each week's garbage pick up... Imagine that?
Upon inspection of my stuff I found major problems. My inner spring mattress which they folded and damaged was beyond all repairs ($4000.00 Loss). My 60-inch Sharp LCD TV was cracked in 3 different locations & looked like it was kicked ($3800.00 Loss). This is a total of almost $20,000.00 experience to move and store a 1-bedroom apartment. I called Father and Sons and informed them of the damaged items while the movers were still at my house and I got the same service. I was told I have to get a notarized letter of what was damaged and I have to include the original bill of sale for the items.
I submitted this claim 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything and don't expect to. I plan on contacting Channel 7 News. This was a scam at every level. If you visit the facility in Newark on Frelinghuysen Avenue, they are set up like a fortress with bullet-proof glass at the reception area and cameras covering every angle. There is a large LCD display with all of the cameras visible and in the garage the owner's cars, "Bentley, Mercedes Benzes & other high-end vehicles." Now I know where all the money went. Stay away at all costs. Pure Criminals. If anyone wants to start a class action suit, please contact me.

I ended up using this company through a third party company for a move to Florida from Boston just last month. At first speaking with them, they tell you everything you want to hear - how they have the best rates and will work with you to make sure you're satisfied. Where can I start?
First, two guys came to get my things. They told me they would wrap my furniture once they get to the warehouse where the other drivers who were to carry my furniture to Florida would be. So not only was I told that my things would be picked up by the driver but that I would get the driver's number and would know where they were at all times. That, of course, did not happen.
Second, the original estimated date of arrival was 5-6 days; then it went to 7-10 business days. I had to change my flight to meet them there only to have my things get there within the 5-6 day time frame. I called several times and they acted like they did not want to talk to me. They told me there was no way my things would get there within 5-6 days (when it did) only because they were aware that I was catching a flight to meet them in Florida. So I come to find out if you aren't there, you will be charged $600+ for each day they hold on to your belongings.
Third, my boyfriend ended up meeting them; not only were my things not wrapped but once I got to Florida, my 6' mirror was not delivered along with my lamps and other household items. They broke my entertainment center and blamed the local Boston guys for that. After contacting the driver who I was in touch with the night before, they actually delivered my things (not 24 hrs before like they said). He said, "Oh! That was your mirror? We'll bring it to you tomorrow." I never heard from them till two days later when they actually only brought back the mirror and nothing else. The people they hire are not professionals. They actually look scary and I don't know if I would trust them with my things if I had seen them prior. I tried my best to sum up my experience with this very unprofessional money-hungry company. Do not trust them and read the contract. Make sure everything they tell you with their mouth goes with what's on the contract.

Nowhere was this mentioned in their email. I had to find $10,000 cash by 7AM! Then they showed up at 10AM, 3 hours late, with 2 movers instead of 3. They agreed to only charge me $89 per hour instead of $109 per hour for 3 movers. Then their truck would not start and was towed away while we waited for 2 hours for a new truck. The movers slept on chairs (I have iPhone pics to prove it) while we waited for another truck.
After an 8-hour move, which should have been 6 hours, the driver informed me that the owner wanted $950 (which is the 3 man rate for 9 hours). When I mentioned to the owner that the driver had quoted a 2 person rate and that 2 hours of the move had been wasted, he informed me, "Pay the driver the money or your furniture is not coming off the truck!!!" Their truck left a huge oil stain in our driveway and then proceeded to break down halfway to our destination and have to be towed back to Denver. They didn't let us know until we were already up there and didn't give us any money back for having to get a hotel room, board our pets, etc. Their movers are inexperienced and didn't even bring a screwdriver, had no idea how to take furniture apart or pack a truck. I had to call my husband home from work to come tell them how to do their job.
They have awful customer service. I have called them countless times since our move to try and get some money back (we paid over the quote price even after everything they did). My wife worked with a salesman named Joe ** whom she found to be very good and somewhat helpful throughout this disaster. She told him that we were looking to move some furniture to Naples, FL from Winchester, MA. Joe gave her a quote based on a minimum of 1,000 pounds. We than added some items but the total weight was still less than 1,000 pounds.
The move was scheduled for pickup on 2/6 for delivery on 2/11. I moved a majority of the furniture and boxes into the garage the previous day. Jose showed up, by himself, at our house at 10:30 on the 6th. He didn't finish packing the truck until 3:30! That's when I should have known what we were in for. I could have loaded the truck faster. He then spoke with dispatch and told them the weight was now 1,500 pounds and we were told the move would cost more. After an hour of discussion between my wife, dispatch and whoever she could reach, the original price was finally honored.
Upon arriving in Naples on 2/11, we waited for word from Jose as to when he would arrive. Word never came. In fact, no one called us. After hours of trying to reach someone at Father and Son, we finally got a call and were told he would arrive between 6-7pm. To no one’s surprise, he never showed. We went through the same aggravation again on 2/7. Finally, we were told he would arrive between 6-7pm. Well, he showed up this time. However 100% of our patio furniture was damaged. One chair had a broken leg, the table had a broken piece and every chair or table was scratched and dented as none had been wrapped.
We have filed a claim with the insurance company, but based on the claim process, we will not come close to receiving full value. As a result of the bait and switch quote and the horrible service, I will be filing paperwork with the MA Attorney General’s Office, the Better Business Bureau and anyone else I can think of.

Our move to New Hampshire on January 19, 2012 - My husband and I contacted numerous moving companies when we were getting ready to move into our first new home. We received a quote from Father & Son Moving Company and thought we were all set for our move that day. The movers arrived at our apartment that morning and loaded the truck with the boxes that we had already filled, labeled and prepared for transportation to our new home. It was about an hour’s ride to our new residence, which they were well aware of beforehand.
We arrived at the new house and the movers were instructed to put all the items in the empty garage and we would take it from there. Halfway through unloading the truck, the main driver came to me and told me that he would take his payment at that time. I handed him the money order for the amount that I was told we would be charged and he said that it was not enough. The price he quoted me was double what I had been told. I told him that I had no more money on me and I had exhausted what I could take out of my checking account for the day. At that point, the other movers started to put our items back in the truck! It was a nightmare dealing with them. I instantly panicked when I saw them reloading the truck and asked them if I could write a check or did they take credit cards. They said no! They would only take cash.
I was able to contact their office and explained what was happening. They told me that it was not their normal way of doing business, but they would accept a check, but I would have to sign a waiver (which they just happened to have all ready to sign) stating that I would not stop payment the minute the movers left which I had to do. The movers then unloaded the truck again reluctantly. After the truck was unloaded, the main driver had the nerve to come to me and ask where their tip was. I informed him that I had just written a check for what could have been their tip! They were not happy and hours later we noticed that my husband’s case with his new drill and charger was missing. I believe they took it as their tip! This experience turned our moving day into a nightmare and I would never recommend this company to anyone!

I used this moving company in a 2-part move. My house sold quickly and I didn’t have a new house yet, so we needed to live in an apartment for a couple of months. Father & Son moved us from Medford, MA to Wilmington, MA and stored some of my household items and furniture. Once the first move was completed, I was asked for more money than was quoted as well as overtime $$. I was also charged a heavy item charge. The men were threatening when I questioned the charges and also had the nerve to ask for a tip because they worked so hard. I had no choice but to use them again as they had my furniture in their storage facility. My curio cabinet arrived with the glass door broken. I received $48.00 to replace the glass. I wish I had checked on them more carefully before using them. I hope Martha Coakley gets them shut down for good.

I went online to try and find a mover, and I ended up calling a company. But I guess if you call one company, many will try to call you back because they all work together. In my case, Father & Son Moving ended up calling me back like 15 times! My cell phone, work phone, they kept calling and calling. Then the guy, Frank, asked what the problem was and I said, "The problem is you called me 15 times at work and on my cell!" I told him that when I get out of work, I will call him back. I called back and they talked me into going with them because all the others were very expensive!
I scheduled a move for Saturday mid-morning. Frank verified the day and time with me. My apts called me on Friday said there was a moving truck at my apts? I called them back and told them "No, not today, tomorrow." Then I looked on the estimate sheet and they had written in Friday, between 2 and 4 pm? Then the guy, Frank, sent me an email saying just to "call and tell them to come back tomorrow." On Saturday around noon, two guys showed up and told me "It's going to cost over $400 to move my stuff."
I told them to get back in their truck because I specifically asked Frank if there were hidden charges and he said, "No, it will be $283 and that's it." So, then as soon as they left, I called to cancel the move because I was quoted a wrong price. No one answered the phones. I kept calling Frank, the company, Father & Son, continually to cancel. I even left emails and voice mail, etc. letting them know I want to cancel.
Long story, I know but these people and company are thieves! Don't use them please. They immediately took the $100 deposit out of my credit card and then on Monday afternoon, some guy finally called me back and said they can't refund my money? We need to shut this place down! I already have a call into 7 news investigators with this same complaint to try to get my money back. Hopefully I will; they just took advantage of a single woman with children with little money in the first place. They didn't do anything and I didn't use their services, so why did they take money out of my account? Why? I don't get this at all. Why are they still in business?

Stay away from Father and Sons! They are horrible and way underestimated the cost of the move. We had the movers pack a good portion of our household items! Thank goodness none of our glassware or dishes were included in the mover’s packaging. They broke multiple items of furniture, almost every lamp and suggested I contact the insurance provider, noting that it would be a waste of my time. Additionally, they would not load our wheel barrel as they said it was broken! My husband was not home at the time and I believed them! It was not broken and ended up in the trash. Our quote of $8K ended up being $11K. Tack on the countless broken items and it far surpasses what we had anticipated spending. The driver demanded cash and would not unload the truck until I took him to the bank! Please beware: these movers are horrible and almost criminal!

So many things broken beyond repair, things missing (or stolen), missed deadlines, non-existent communications, and verbally abusive drivers. Why would you even think of signing yourself up for stress, frustration, inconvenience, and heartache? Read the reviews. Load your stuff on a wagon train of wheelbarrows and start pushing. Trust me, you will have made the best choice. Over $16,000 to move my family from MA to NC and their settlement offer was for $78! Are you kidding me?
Our move was in January and they were too lazy to walk up five stairs from the recreation room, so they took the sliding windows out and passed the boxes through the hole in the wall. Then, they drove away and left gaping hole in the house. Hello, I am now paying to heat the Great Outdoors in New England in January. It was days before this was discovered. One, just one missing item was a Bose Wave Radio and again, that's just one of the many items we never found. They blatantly overcharged me for 660 pounds of things that their delightful driver refused to move and then wouldn't reimburse a penny. I digress but believe me, I could go on forever. We contacted Father and Sons moving to move a bedroom and dining room set from Hopkinton, MA to our home in Pelham, NH. We were given a quote for $607.20. We contracted 3 hours of work with a 3-man team. $138 was included in the quote for travel time. I was out of town, so my wife, who was 6 months pregnant at the time, was at our house in Pelham to receive the furniture. The movers were contracted to begin moving in Hopkinton between 8 and 9AM. The movers arrived 15 minutes late. It took them approximately 3 hours to pack the furniture. They called my wife to let her know they were going to be using some "packing supplies" to secure some of the furniture to keep it from breaking.
During the move, a granite top to one of the nightstands that was packed in butcher's paper broke into 3 pieces. When the movers arrived to our house in Pelham, it took them another 3 hours or so to unpack the furniture. While bringing the armories to the second floor bedroom, there was damage done to walls and stairs. Before the movers would remove the dining room furniture, one of the movers asked my wife to settle the bill. The bill was for $1,572.50. They charged us $234.00 for moving supplies, which consisted of packing tape and butcher's paper, no bubble wrap, cardboard or anything that would actually protect our furniture. They charged us a $200 heavy lifting fee.
When I contracted the move, they told us they do not accept checks or credit cards and to have a cashier's check or cash. We had a cashier's check for $500 and my wife had another $300 in cash. When my wife told them she only had $800, the mover told my wife that they would take the furniture that was not yet unpacked, bring it to their shop and we would have to pay a storage fee and a redelivery fee. My wife gave them our credit card and they charged the remaining balance on our card. I have tried to contact them numerous times and have yet to hear back from them. I cannot believe a moving company can get away with this kind of unethical behavior. I have contacted both the attorney general's office and the Better Business Bureau. We are still fighting with Father and Sons insurance company on getting our walls fixed and replacing our broken nightstand top.

I put a deposit of $100 to have my daughter moved 3 miles and on the morning of the move, the driver called at 7 am to tell me that their truck would not start, and they would not be able to be at her townhouse at 8 am. I called again at 9 am, talked to the driver, and he said that they had a truck started but that it was loaded, and that they would have to unload it, before they could come and start the move. I never heard from him again. I called the office at 10:30 am and talked to the salesman, and he checked on the status, and said that they would be there in an hour. I told him that if they were not there by 12 noon that I would have to cancel. At about 11:45, there was nothing, so I called the salesman again, and told him that I was cancelling the move through his company, and finding someone who can move my daughter the same day.
We did find another company who moved my daughter that afternoon. The next morning, I got a call from Father and Son Moving, telling me that I didn't give them a 7-day notice of cancellation, so I forfeited my deposit. This company could not fulfill their end of the agreed time frame, much less tell the truth. After contacting 6 moving companies and getting quotes from all of them, we decided to go with Father and Sons Moving. We were given a quote for $607.20 for 3 hours of work with a 3 man team to move a bed room set and a dining room set. The 3 man team was 2 men in their early thirties and 1 man in his mid-sixties, yes mid-sixties. They took 6 and a half hours to move the bedroom and dining room sets. They charged us an outrageous $234.00 in “packing supplies” that consisted of butcher paper and packing tape, which they said would protect our furniture, even though they still broke a marble top into 3 pieces. They charged us a $200 “heavy lifting” fee. I’m sorry you’re movers, you move things. I didn’t get a discount for “light lifting” on lamp shades, which was basically all the older mover could move.
After they moved the bedroom furniture and dented the walls leading up to the second floor of our brand new house, before they would take the dining room set off the truck, they extorted my 6 month pregnant wife with a new bill that was $1,572.50. I was unfortunately out of town. The older mover told my wife that if she couldn’t pay the extra $900, they would take the dining room set to the shop and charge us a storage fee and a re-delivery fee. My wife put the remaining balance on our credit card. I have called the company 4 times and have yet to have someone call me back. He was told it would not take more than 3 hours to move him. They arrived 2 hours late, only after we called. When they arrived, the lead mover told my son that he would have to also pay an additional $95.00 for travel time. When my son challenged the additional fee, the lead mover became border line belligerent and told him that he was obligated to pay the travel time expense. My son called the office and was told that he was misquoted and that the person he spoke to should have told him about the additional mileage charge. We were stuck, so we reluctantly signed the paperwork.
They told us that it would not take more than 3 hours to move to the new location and unload. They began moving at 3:00PM. They (all three movers) were incredibly slow and unprofessional. They couldn't even move the furniture properly without banging into walls and getting stuck in the doorways. By the time they moved all the furniture into my son's new location, it was 8:00PM. 5 hours plus 1 hour travel time, plus tax. By the time they totaled the moving charges, it came to $795.00. It was only supposed to be $300.00, the price we were originally quoted. Further, before they unloaded the truck, we had to agree to the moving charges and sign the agreement or they would take my son's possessions and put them in storage. They said the storage fee would be $100.00 per day.
This was a horrible experience and I encourage anyone moving to do a background check on the moving company you are planning to use and get a signed agreement on time and cost before the movers come to your home to move you. Father & Son are unscrupulous, dishonest, unprofessional and belligerent crooks.

After rushing to get their contract to them like I was told to do by Joe ** so he could "guarantee" it would be picked up on the 24th, I was told the truck was full and they couldn't get there until the 27th. They said they would be there between 12-4 pm and they did not show up until 7 pm. At that point, the driver said they would still be in Tampa by July 1st. I finally got it delivered on July 9th!
When everything arrived, most of my things were damaged. The leather headboard was ripped and there’s a giant hole in the back of a dresser. (If I could post the pictures, I would). I was charged an extra $150 for a so-called "special box" for my TV. That special box was one sheet of cardboard over the screen with tape wrapped around it. There’s also another $195 charge for "other" with no explanation. Insane!
As many times as I called and emailed Joe ** to find out when it would finally be delivered and about the damages, not one has been returned. I have a small one bedroom apartment with maybe 15 items that needed to be moved, including boxes, but not counting clothes or closet stuff because we moved these ourselves. I was quoted $315 for a 3 hour minimum. This includes 2 hours of moving and 1 hour of drive time. This sounds perfect since we were moving to a place about a half hour from our old place, so 1 hour of drive time seems right and with a small apartment, this could be about 2 hours - 1 hour to load and 1 hour to unload. So, it was scheduled for 2PM.
On the day of the move, they showed up at 1PM (good thing we were home), went through the work order with us, being the 3 hours for $315. Great! The 2 men went out to the truck claiming they had to rearrange the current items in there. 20 minutes later (mind you, we are being charged by the hour), they finally started doing their job. It takes about an hour to load the truck, figured it would. We were ready to leave and they followed us. We needed to stop by the local 7-11 to pick up a drink and cigs for the half hour drive, which was no big deal. But one of the men got out of the truck to go inside and used the bathroom. 10 minutes later, he emerges, he was apparently taking a dump. We know this because he said "I feel 100 pounds lighter" as he walked past us back to the truck. We continued the half hour drive.
While being followed, we were going about 25-30mph in a 45mph zone, which we didn't think was abnormal since our entire apartment is in the back of that truck, so I hoped the driver was careful. We have finally reached our destination 50 minutes later. Time to unload the truck and start our new lives at a new place. By about 3:50PM, they have one last item to unload - our bed. The head guy then received a call from his boss. They were arguing over the phone in front of us. The head mover was saying, "I only have one item left to unload" while the boss said, "Take your time" (because they were arguing, we can hear the boss over phone). Take your time? We are paying you by the hour! They were arguing about the price because the head mover was telling his boss how much they worked and what happened, the truth. But the boss was not interested in knowing the truth since he wants to charge additional for nothing.
When the call was over, we were given a new price - $455. What?! We were quoted $315 for a 3 hour minimum. But this new price includes 3 hours of work time and 1 hour of drive time. We were then asked to pay this price. After paying, they brought up the last item - our bed. We said to the head mover, "We were quoted $315 for 3 hours. It is a good thing we had our security deposit on us from the last place. Otherwise, we wouldn't have had the money." The head mover said, "Yeah it is, otherwise you wouldn't have gotten your bed."
Overall, our moving started at 1PM and ended at 4PM. This is 3 hours. But this was not counted as 3 hours because apparently, our drive time that we paid for did not count as drive time since we are now being charged for 3 hours of work and 1 hour drive time. So what counts as drive time? Why are we paying for an additional hour of drive time that we did not use? We did however already use an hour of drive time to get from point A to point B, including the bathroom break that we did pay for. So where did the additional hour come from? And if we did not pay the new tacked on price, they were holding out the bed hostage until they were paid. So, we had no choice but to pay the ridiculous, unused, additional $140. This is not a great way to start our new beginnings in a new home.
After paying the price and being so upset, I called the company and spoke with their boss. Before I could get a word out, he said "It's $455, it's $455." I then proceeded to tell him what we were quoted and since we used 3 hours, then it should only be $315. But he was not hearing anything I had to say, he said "Ma'am, it is $455 because you used 3 hours of work and 1 hour of drive time." I said, "How when it has only been 3 hours?" He then said, "I have to answer the calls to other customers, goodbye." He hung up on me and didn't care what I had to say.
This company is nothing but scam artists who try and do get over on people, like myself. Please stay away from this company, they need to be stopped! It is wrong how they treat their paying customers and how they are charging additional for things you are not even using. Please be aware and if you proceed with them anyways, proceed at your own risk and then come back on here to post a bad review like the rest of us - meanwhile, being out of your hard earned money.

I received a quote for moving on June 1, 2012 from Canton, MA to Attleboro, MA. Issues with the two closings came up and required us to move out on May 30th and move in to our new home on June 1st. When I called Scott at Father and Son, he said that there would be a $200 overnight storage fee. I agreed and we moved on with our plans. I had questioned Scott about the size of the van. He assured me that everything would fit. I told him that we had a 3-bedroom home with 8 furnished rooms, plus a kitchen (no furniture in the kitchen), 2 sheds and a garage with a lot of tools in it. Again, he saw no issues.
On the day before the move, his dispatcher called. This is when I began to see changes. All of a sudden the $1327.20 was for the move out of our old home and somewhere around $1100 is for the re-delivery. I had no time to get another mover, so I had to move ahead. The crew got to our house at about 9:00 AM. They left around 4:00 PM. They wrote on the bill of lading, “Start at 8:50 AM and finish at 9:45 PM.” I got charged for 15.4 hours at the $118 rate that I was given. On top of this I was charged $898 for packing charges, $75 for moving a queen-sized bed, $180 for something I cannot read, $425 for 17 mirror cartons, the quoted $200 for overnight storage, $410 for a "special crate", $200 for moving a gun safe, and $71 for something that I cannot read. When I called the office, they were unaware of the fuel charge. Quote, “There is no fuel charge!” Then, they stopped working and wanted tips. I told the office that there will be no tips and they got nasty. Movers also used a dolly, dragging it all around the house and leaving it on the floor (I had floor refinished, but they did not care). The floor’s all scratched and the front doorstep was damaged. They also dropped a picture in the driveway and it broke. He was trying to lug too many things at once, which he was not capable, and then he said it dropped.
I took a picture to show that the frame would not drop by itself. They really did not know how to move furniture. They did not care how they handled them. My bed’s headboard has a big dent and they took chunks out of it. My antique sofa table has a deep scratch. My big travel bag is damaged and its handle does not go in and out. My torchiere was taken apart since it was tall. By the time they put it back, it was bent and damaged. I have not checked all there is. I am sure I will find more.
Basically, I think those movers should only be lugging junk. No one cares whether it is damaged or not. The way they were moving, all my furniture would be junk. They were in such hurry to leave that they left the blanket with glasses covered. They never put it back. It took three of them 15 minutes trying to figure out how to take out the glass shelf from the hutch. I am going to contact the office again.

In 2010, I hired this company to assist me with the moving and a few things went wrong. First, the representative whom I spoke with on the phone never disclosed that there would be any extra cost in addition to the moving fee. When the movers arrived, I was charged about $5 for tape and an additional $40 surcharge which the representative failed to disclose. I was also disclosed by the representative that all movers are professionally trained which contradicted what was stated by one of the movers upon arrival to my apartment. One of the movers stated "oh, don't ask my brother-in-law any questions that I just asked him to come along to help" and that he wasn't a regular employee so he wouldn't know the answer to my questions.
The second thing was that they were taking extremely long to complete the moving which was totally unnecessary. Being that my husband and I placed everything that needed to be in the truck in the middle of the little room. Being that we were on borrowed because the longer they take, the more money we would be charged. Being that we saw that they were taking advantage of the situation and basically milking the clock. My husband and I had to result to taking furniture down ourselves in order to expedite time. This was unnecessary. If we knew that we would have taken the furniture down ourselves, we would not have hired them to do the moving.
So, we paid $400 for a job that was not well done and resulted in my husband and I doing a lot of the moving as well. And for additional charges that were never disclosed and for people that were obviously not all trained as it was disclosed. I submitted a complaint about this same issue and received a notice via email, stating that I would be refunded some money, as the company’s attempt to resolve the issue. This company never sent me anything. It seems that they just stated that so that they wouldn’t have anyone down their throats and I think that it is very unprofessional.

They kept telling me their technician will come out and take care of it and that their insurance will cover the damages. Their boss kept calling them to hurry up and leave the job.
I called the company on 4 separate days to advise them of the damage. I kept getting the run around. Finally, I talked to "Joe", who apparently was the boss. He basically told me tough luck and hung up on me in the middle of the phone conversation. As far as I’m concerned, I'm going to fight for the principle of the matter. To begin with, the truck did not arrive until 3:00 pm (we called the co several times during the day to find out where the truck was) and wasn't fully loaded until after 9 pm. The driver assured us he would be leaving early the next morning for upstate NY.
The next day, when my husband spoke with the driver, he was told that he now had to take a load to Buffalo and then he would drop our things off. After making several calls to their office that week, we were told that they couldn't get a hold of their driver and that the company did not have to deliver our items for 10 days. Obviously, this wasn't what their sales manger had assured us of. After the truck went to Buffalo instead of dropping our things, it then was directed to VA and then onto to NC with other people’s things.
It was impossible to reach the driver as his mail box was full though he did share with us upon finally delivering our things Dec. 10th that he intentionally did not return our calls as he knew we would be mad if we knew where our possessions were! When the truck did arrive, there was only one person with the driver to unload, so my husband and I had to help to make this move along faster.
Under no circumstances should anyone do business with this group. They tell you anything to get you to sign with them and then do not honor verbal agreements nor provide any sort of communication as to what's happening.

Their fees are hidden; their care for the furniture, none. They are really good at one thing--making your small electronics disappear. Yes, disappear. Odd part is that they were not even supposed to touch those or open the closets they were in. They nosed around and got stuff that was already in closed boxes and in closets they weren't supposed to open. I called the company, and they were as bad as the movers themselves. Granted, they found the missing items conveniently wrapped in moving blankets inside the truck.
They were angry with the customers, hung up the phone in the middle of the conversation, and did not help just a bit. They acted like they didn't even care what happened. So apparently, they support stealing and nosing around customer's places to get whatever they can. If you are looking for bad service and dishonest, incompetent movers, they are exactly that. No refunds or compensations were even offered.

Wow! I wish I'd seen this site before I contracted my move with F&S. I had many of the same experiences. First, the "bidding agent" gave us an estimate without first seeing the contents of our house. It was simply based on my telling him we'd be moving 3 bedrooms, a dining room and a partial living room. He never requested an inventory of items to provide an accurate estimate.
So on moving day, I found out that F&S has sub-contracted the move to 67th Ave Movers. The truck they arrived with was not large enough for our move. I contacted Jason at F&S and he claimed that we communicated we had 3,000 lbs. of contents (how would I have ever been able to provide this number?) and that our actual contents were nearly 7,000 lbs. He claimed he would look into it but never returned my call. We were charged nearly double the original estimate and the movers left a large number of items at our old house due to lack of space on the truck.
We arrived at our new home to find that something had shifted in the truck in transit and damaged nearly all our furniture including my new dining table, office desk, two dressers and a jewelry armoire. Ten days later, I called Jason's office again regarding our left-behind items. He dumped me off on Neighbors Moving and Storage customer service. I spoke with Giselle who claimed that we failed to indicate the full inventory of our move. Again, I communicated that we were never asked for it. It is their responsibility to ask the right questions to obtain the data they need to provide a proper move. Giselle never followed up with me again.
On August 25, I tried calling Giselle again to request that F&S pay to move my remaining items. We discussed a compromise where I would pay for any new loading time if they would pay for transit time. Giselle indicated she would get back to me. Would you believe she never called? Meanwhile, I opened a claim for the damaged furniture on August 19th and submitted the required paperwork via FedEx on August 30. It was received and signed for by M. G.
I heard nothing on my claim and sent an email to my claims "representative" on September 19. I heard nothing back. As of today, January 6, I have yet to receive any communication from Father & Sons, their subcontractor for the move (67th Avenue Moving), nor their claims company (Neighbors Moving and Storage). It's a nice sham they have going: hold your household goods hostage on the truck until you pay an inflated move price, then subcontract with enough parties to keep the finger-pointing going until the customer gives up on the battle. Ultimately, my $1400 estimate from F&S cost me $2056 for the move and $2500 in damaged furniture (replacement value). I also had to rent a full-size van and drive back to Denver to retrieve my left-behind items. This cost us another $300 plus a full day's pay for both my husband and myself.

Father & Son Moving and Storage South Florida. The kind of company that gives honest moving companies a bad name. They damaged every piece of furniture, damage to both homes during move. No attention to any kind of detail or organization. When asked, the men involved could care less. The cost of having them move the items outweighed the cost of throwing it all away and buying new.

I had contacted neighbors moving for an upcoming move. I was given an estimate based on my inventory, and was told it would be no less or no more, and I would be locked in at that price. I gave them a deposit, using my credit card, amounting to $785.30 and was contacted later by their QA department to review the inventory, and was charged another $329.53, and told it was for extra weight. My total deposit was $1114.83.
The day before the move, I was contacting them to confirm, and was given a number for Father and Son Moving Company and had not been informed the move was contracted out. The day of the move, I was told it was pushed out a day due to power outages in the Northeast. I agreed to that, and the next day, I called to confirm and was told that they would be there to move me between 12:00 PM and 4:30.
They never showed, and called me at 4:30, telling me that they could come between 7:30 and 10:00 that night. I told them that was not reasonable and to come the next day. The driver told me he would come at 8:30 the following morning and never showed up until 11:00 AM with one helper. Going over the inventory, I was advised that I had only put down $649.00, which then, I contacted Father and Son, and was told that was a brokerage fee.
I called Neighbors moving and they told me, they emailed the contract to them with my deposit listed. I could not get any resolution from either company saying it was a brokerage fee, which is not stated on the contract. When the driver arrived his helper did all the work and he talked on his cell phone the whole time and I could not get his attention to let him know his helper was not feeling well. I was then told that on delivery, I was to pay in cash, and it was $1,000.00 over my original estimate, because of weight.
I had damages to a family heirloom chair that was cracked, and the molding from the antique china cabinet broken off. I had purchased mattress boxed with Neighbors moving and was charged for them. Father and Son never used them. At the end of the move, I signed the paperwork and was not told by the driver that by signing, I had agreed to the charges. I was tired and stressed out because the move was at 6:00 at night, and did not finish until 9:30. PM. I signed thinking it was acknowledging that the move is complete.
Basically I had two contracts in hand. One from Neighbors and One from Father and Son with two different prices. I got no resolution on my $1,000.00 deposit. I was never told by Neighbors, that part of the amount was brokerage fee. I was over charged $1,000.00 by Father and Son. I never would have hired Neighbors, if I had known they contracted the move out. There are so many reputable movers, but went with them because I was told that I would be locked in at that price.

When the moving company finally arrived they only started to unload when I gave them the certified check. After a few hours of work, they could not locate the pieces that attaches to my bed to hold the box mattress. So I had to go to Home Depot and buy wood so they could put the bed together. It only cost me $11.76 but that 's not where the problem ends.
When they were about to leave I noticed that the handles on my china closet were not on. They searched the truck and could not locate the handles. Then I noticed the glass shelves to a Curio cabinet were not in. They again looked in the truck to no avail. I am now without handles on the china closet and a Curio Cabinet that is of no use without shelves.
I called and spoke to Sandy who in turn passed me to Michael. Where he informed me that they were not responsible for the hardware. So I complained but nothing can be done aside from buying new handles at $10.00 each and I need 13 handles in total. 12 for the china closet and one for the unstable Curio cabinet. Do not by any means do business with Father and Sons Newark, NJ if you want all your items arriving.
I'm gonna be out of money for all the hardware that I must replace and the cost for special glass shelves that go into the Curio cabinet. I have no idea how much those special glass shelves will cost. But I want them to pay for everything I must replace. Even though they claim they are not responsible for the hardware.

A lowball quote doubled, then police had to be called. Do not use this company or their affiliates--Neighbors Moving or 47th Avenue Moving. I spoke with William. He is a dirt bag. He's just an atypically dishonest person who would probably rob his own mother for money to buy a soda. William originally quoted 2 movers and a truck for $89 with a 3-hour minimum. It's $267 minus a $50 deposit to guarantee the move. The remaining balance was $217.00.
The move was scheduled to take place on 10/15/11 between 8-9 am. They never showed. In fact, they didn't show up at all on 10/15. I called several times and spoke to several individuals, and the time kept slipping, Finally I insisted on talking to William who advised that there was nothing he could do, They were behind. We could wait until the truck arrived somewhere between 7-9 pm, or we could move it to 7 am on 10/16/11. Given those options, we opted for the latter. This was to be just the first of a terrible experience.
The movers arrived more than 23 hours later than the contracted move time at approx 7:45 am on 10/16/11. We went over the contract, and it had already changed. But the driver assured me we would come in under 3 hours total, because it was only 1 bedroom and 750 sq.ft. apartment. We were moving, and everything was well-packed and ready to move. So I signed the agreement, and the move began.
Everything was fine, until we arrived at the destination where the final bill is tallied. I am expecting the bill to be $217 plus an 18% "travel surcharge" that William failed to mention when we set up the move and got the estimate. But the driver was sure to point out, when we arrived and presented the contract. This alone was like paying an additional hour, as it was approx $79. But that wasn't the only change. Now the handwritten stipulations were plugged in by the driver at the destination, when he said, "Now let me show you how they lied to you, and this happens all the time. So it ain't me. See, this bill has changed, and it's way more. But if you don't pay it, I can't unload the truck and gotta take your stuff to storage. And they're gonna charge you for storage and auction all your stuff."
It was 1 truck and 2 movers with a two-hour minimum at $89 an hour and one hour of mandatory drive time. So if I'm paying for drive time, what's the 18% "surcharge" for? And this was entirely different from the stipulations in the quote we got from William initially. The charges were completely changed, as now instead of 3 hours flat at $89 + 18%, it changed to 2 hours at $89.00 + 1 hour drive time + 18% surcharge + overage hour (because now we're in the 3rd hour) at $182.00 per hour. Final cost was $472.00.
So at this point, we decided to pay with a CC. So I called William who said, "If you can get a CC within 20 minutes, we'll unload the truck and not charge you any more than the $472.00." So we scramble to get a CC, as we only brought $217 in cash and $40 to tip the movers. Then, because the driver kept saying they were going to take our stuff, my uncle blocked the driveway with his pickup truck so they can't.
The driver called William who, in turn, called the police. The police arrived just before my mother-in-law showed up with her CC. The driver called William to tell them we have the CC. William then said, "No CC, only cash." And not only that but now it's $553.00, because we added another hour." So the cop got on the driver's cell phone and talked to William and said, "It appears to me that you're changing the terms and padding the bill by having your drivers sit idle while they wait for a CC. And then the CC gets here, and you won't take it but add another hour for the wait that you created. And that looks to me a lot like fraud." (It turned out that the cop and his wife got burned by Father and Son a few years ago in the same way.) After that, the bill magically turned from $553 to $422.59, which was still a lot more than the quote.
Do not use Father and Son or any of their affiliates. If you do pay with a CC so you can stop the charges after, they burn you.... and they will burn you. The cop said that he sees it all the time with this company.

Father & Son showed up late with a Hispanic person who couldn't speak English and he had not weighed the truck. He loaded my 40 boxes and then advised that I had 1,000 lbs minimum. That was never explained or in the contract I signed in advance. I paid a deposit of $469.35 on my AmEx account in advance yet the driver had listed a deposit of $235.35. So where did the other $234 go? The entire company was rude, arrogant, less than professional and took advantage of this senior citizen. I would highly recommend avoiding this company.

To potential movers considering "Father & Son Moving & Storage":
The Move of Hell with "Father & Son Moving & Storage"
On April 29, 2011, after obtaining various bids, I foolishly engaged with "Father & Son Moving & Storage". I had several telephone discussions and emails with Paul **, their "certified moving consultant", outlining our requirements including interim storage while in transition. Paul declined making a visit to house for on-site estimate, saying it was not necessary. I had methodically detailed our belongings to include disassembly and reassembly of some items, including grandfather clock, crystal cabinet and baby grand piano. I also stated there was a treadmill, safe and riding lawn mower, to mention a few larger items. I had told him we had a previous move using 53' tractor-trailer. He said 2-26' trucks with crew of 4 should be okay to accomplish the work in allotted time.
He emailed me an estimate of $1,552.02 (copy attached), including 2 months storage at their location while we were in transition, and re-setup at new location. This bid included items, which I subsequently made alternative arrangements for, like the riding lawn mower. Their crew arrived (Felix). I was told they would really be struggling to get all into the 2 trucks. They did. I was also asked to sign an agreement which included 18½% surcharges on all hours (never mentioned in their estimate). After arguing with Jason Price (owner) & William, they waived (how gracious) that fee. They finished 4 hours over, for which they charged me overtime. The final bill was $2,950.?Of course, an argument ensued, with William stating they had possession and threatening to auction our belongings. We settled on $2,450.
In June, I researched other bids to move our belongings out of "Father & Son Moving & Storage" based upon my experience with them. After discussions with Holly **, Father & Son Moving & Storage gave me assurances. And they guaranteed fixed amount of $1,904, to be paid with belongings delivered on July 1, 2011. They got part right. You guessed it. They charged my account in am on July 1, 2011, but no delivery. There were more than 32 telephone calls, most not returned. The calls they did take yielded multiple false promises of delivery any hour on July 1, then July 2, and then July 5. After an abundance of frustration, including my wife losing 3 days work and us sleeping on the floor, Father & Son delivered most of our belongings on July 6, 2011.
Our list of missing items continues to grow.?How do you lose a tread mill, ladders, desk and bird bath, to mention some? Much of what was delivered was dirty, broken or damaged. Again, how can you deliver multiple wardrobe boxes, some upside down? The crew (Raymond) assembled the piano. He told me another crew (Felix) would come back the next day to assemble clock, desk, crystal cabinet, etc. He didn't show up. I called a lot of times but Paul was the only one I could reach. He at least listened and called me back. I had numerous transfers to Melisa (customer service-Ha), Paul, William, Robert etc. I was first told Felix was on long term move. Later in day (July 11, 2011), I was told Father & Son "would not be responsible for assembling the items because of potential liability." This is unbelievable, but true.
To date, 8/15/2011, there has been no resolution. Rather than more useless telephone calls, I am posting this in hopes of warning other potential movers who may consider using "Father & Son Moving & Storage" of what they may be in store for. These guys operate under different names like "67th Ave Movers, Inc". So, do research before making any decision. I'm one dissatisfied mover among many.

Prior to June 30th, we had discussed everything that had to do with this move, and everything was fine. Marc said dispatch would call me to discuss my car ( they never did). my inventory list showed doubles, (ie) he listed :adult bikes-3, then mountaing bikes-3, bike child-1, then child bike -1 etc
I've called and emailed Marc and the other email address they have on file several ( and I mean several times) no one replies, I've called and spoken to other people that work in the long distance sales dept, and they both told me that only marc could help, they cant dont have access to my file or contract.
The only way i got marc on the phone was when called him from someone else number today Tuesday 07/12/11 at 9am, he said that he was out of the office and that he hadn't heard any of my vcml because he had about 25 vcmls to go thru, and when i did he said "gimme an hour and I'll call you back" , by 3pm I hadn't heard from him so I called back and kept calling and calling because no one was picking up, so i called approx 8 or 9 times back to back to back from my work #, and finally marc calls my cell phone to tell me "NOTHING"
He babbled for approx 3 or 4 mns trying to tell me at first that the truck never left because of another client non-payment ( quite honestly I stopped listening when he said the truck never left) and when i wasn't buying his BS he put me on hold for a good 5 or 6mns (on my cell!!!!) he comes back saying he was talking to "dispatch/Nathan" to expedite my stuff and again he was going round and round with the BS so i cut him off and said "marc do you know where my stuff is? he says "on the truck, where else would it be? so i say NO marc, in what state, he says, how am i supposed to know, i dont get an update mile by mile on where our trucks are, that's not my job, you can call and talk to dispatch/Nathan if you'd like" So I said I will not talk to dispatch because I've been dealing with you, if I was supposed to be dealing with anyone else, then your other 2 co-workers wouldn't have told me that they cant help me and that only you can?
I asked marc if he is the owner of that company, he said that the owner is Mike Silva (and by the way at this point he is yelling at the top of his lungs) who is currently in Hawaii until Sept 18th, and that HE (marc) is trying to help me out and get my stuff expedited but Im not listening. . so he keeps yelling, so i say to him, Im not yelling but please do not ask me to take your word about anything else because your word were that my stuff and car would be here on Sunday. . . so he says "you know what I'll give you the name of whoever you'd like, you can call dispatch, you can call the owner, you can cal whomever, Im trying to help you out and your kids but since you want take it this far, Im not going to have your stuff delivered until the 17th, how do you like that, and since you said that you will not pay another dime, Im gona have my driver lock your stuff in the truck and not deliver until the acct is paid in full in cash, and then we'll see" this whole time he is yelling, and all I kept saying was, "yeup, ok, thanks"
there's a lot more that went into this in terms of actual conversations and vcmls I left him. But I will give those details straight to an attorney when i get contacted.

When I made my sales contract I clearly informed the moving consultant that I needed the furniture delivered by 5/21/11. I even told him that if this delivery date of 5/21 could not be met, I did not want to make the contract because the people at the delivery address were going out of town on 5/22/11 and would not be able to accept delivery after 5/21/11. I was assured that my requested date would be met as can be seen in my contract.
On 5/20/11 we were informed that the furniture would not be delivered as contracted for by 5/21/11 and that if we could not be there to meet the truck whenever it arrived, we would have to pay for the furniture to go into storage to be redelivered to us at our convenience. On 5/21/11 I began a series on conversations with my moving consultant to address the issue. He assured me that we would not have to pay anything additional to receive our furniture. He said that he remembered talking to me and promising me that delivery would be made on 5/21. He also said that he would talk to his supervisor to figure out what was going on and he would get back to me.
On 5/22 he informed me the furniture was being placed into storage and would be delivered on June 4 with no additional charges to us. I questioned him about this to ensure there was no catch. I asked about the possibility of this date changing, about the possibility of damage to our furniture, and about the possibility of any future charges. He very nicely assured me that there would not be any further issues and that the furniture was going into storage and would be delivered on 6/4/11.
On 6/3/11 I contacted the company to follow up and make sure everything was going as planned and I was very rudely informed at that time that by Nathan (the manager) that the truck attempted delivery already (although they won't say on what day delivery was attempted), and that since nobody was there to meet the truck the furniture had to go into storage and there would now be a $500 redelivery charge. Obviously though delivery was attempted after the contracted for date. So the delivery company did not meet the contract date of 5/21/11 for delivery. They sent a truck out for delivery on a day when they knew nobody was there to receive it. And they will not acknowledge the moving consultant's promise that the furniture was supposed to be delivered on 6/4/11 and now they are asking for more money.
The company records all phone conversations and so they can go back and verify everything I am saying, but they refuse to do so. In fact, they refuse to acknowledge the reality of any of this and simply keep insisting that they attempted delivery and nobody was there to receive it. They choose to ignore the over 15 phone conversations before 5/22/11, informing them that nobody would be there after 5/21. They also refuse to ignore that the contract date for delivery was 5/21 and that they missed that date by no fault of our own. I have sent a number of emails and left a number of voicemails for both my moving consultant and the president of the company. Neither has returned my calls or emails. I still don't have my furniture. I want to hire an attorney to pursue this. I think we can file a class action suit against this company.

This is relating to the recent ordeal I had with Father and Son Moving and Storage. It is amazing these guys are still in business.
In the beginning of March, my wife and I needed to plan moving our things out of our condo and into storage. Since we didn't have storage the obvious option was to find a storage company that also offers moving or vice a versa. So living in South Florida all my life, I've always seen "Father and Son Moving and storage" trucks everywhere. Down here Father and son was synonymous with moving and storage. So I called Father and Son Moving and Storage to price out moving my possessions from my condo in Hallendale, to their storage facility in fort Lauderdale. I spoke to Joe **. He actually knew the condo I lived in, and actually we knew a mutual person in the building.
The man was real nice to talk to on the phone. And I had asked him what it would cost for doing this type of move. He had asked me what I had and the size of my condo. I told him it was a 1 br / 1 bath, and I had approximately 30 medium boxes, 1 bed, 2 dressers, an electric piano and 1 bookshelf. I had asked him if he needed to come by to look at it, and he said no.. He then told me worst case scenario, that it would take 2 of his guys 5 hours to do this work and that it would cost $ 545. That was based on his hourly rate for his guys and the 1st month for 2 storage vaults which he was giving me a price of $ 55 each instead of $ 110 each.
I agreed and asked him how do we pay, he said just pay with a check or cash when the guys get there the day of the move. I called a week in advance just to confirm. Everything was confirmed. My wife was there to make sure everything went fine. The movers showed up and moved everything out in 2 hours. Once the movers had everything in the truck, they handed my wife some paperwork to sign which she saw but figured everything was fine since we had already agreed with Joe a month prior with the moving price. A week later we get a copy of their contract and it has our $ 545 listed but as a deposit only and with additional charges, we still owed an additional $ 912.26.
Joe never told me about these additional charges. When I had asked him what it would cost, he knew exactly from where to where that the contents were going to. These charges that he failed to mention could've been made aware at the time of my conversation with him. This was the time that I was looking for the best price to move my things, not the most expensive. I had tried unsuccessfully reaching him every day for the next 2 weeks. Whenever I'd talk to someone else they said I need to talk to Joe since he's the one that gave me a "deal". Finally on the 3rd week, I finally reached him only for him to tell me that he would knock $ 220 off the balance. Huh? I'm still trying to understand why there is a balance. Not to mention he then told me to just give him something to cover the 1st month's rent. That's when I almost fell off my chair. I had to remind Joe, that when he had originally told me the cost of the move, which was $ 545, that this was also covering the 1st month's rent. He then proceeded to tell me that he would talk to his father and for me to call him back the next day.
As surprises would have it, he was not available the next day, nor was he there for another week after. So, finally after 4 weeks of getting no where, I spoke to Lou, Joe's father and explained to him everything and did not get anywhere with this guy. I asked him why they're not up front with pricing. And he did not have a response only to say that he did not want to go around in circles and that I still owed them the balance. To summarize, I finally paid the balance realizing that this is the only way to release our possessions, since these crooks were holding my stuff hostage. And with that, on Sunday they delivered my possessions into another storage facility. One that we can have access to.
Bottom line these guys are absolute crooks. Why they're still in business is an absolute shame. I only wonder if they even cared the fact that I was so irate that I would not even consider leaving my stuff in their storage, and that they drove my possessions into another storage facility. Do they even wonder why? Do they even care? Had they dealt with me honestly, we'd be paying them rent every month instead we went elsewhere. I could only hope this goes out to as many people possible.

Hired father and son (AKA 67th Avenue Movers, Inc. in Denver, Colorado), scheduled for 1pm but got a call night before that they will come at 11am.I agreed. Anyhow they reached my place at 8am. On the phone I was told that professionals are coming with experience not less than 15 years. What actually arrived, one normal person and another with leg trauma (he was getting social security benefits for his leg issue). Everything was packed for them and they started moving the stuff as if they are kids, very slowly, to raise money.
I caught their move and started helping them with my brother. They were so lazy and shameless fellows that on seeing this they became more lazy. After about 2 hours, I stopped them from picking more stuff and told them I am going to shift it by myself and they should now move the stuff to my new house (7 miles from old house). They did. After reaching new house, they demanded the money first, demanded 2 times more than what we decided over phone. We were almost in a war like situation but my brother stopped. They quickly ran with the truck and my stuff. Then I called the guy with whom I made the deal and he said I have to pay whatever they're asking.
My brother told me to pay at that time and later on we disputed it with credit card company. After 1 month, they took off the charges, but today after 3 months, I received the letter from credit card company that I have to pay the charges. The dispute is that movers want to charge me for travel time of 4 hrs (because they traveled from another city to shift my stuff), whereas my question is how can they charge for a travel time of 4 hrs when my new house is 7 miles from my old location. Anyhow I am going to challenge this in consumer court.

I had called to schedule them to move just my furniture in my small townhouse. The scheduling person told me that it would be 3 hours minimum, two hours for the move and one hour for drive time. He quoted me $264 for two movers and assured me his employees are very professional and that it was not in their best interest to waste time and run down the clock. On the day of my move, I received a phone call from the person who was apparently the lead in-charge whose name is Jeff **. He explained to me that there were three of them and that I could hire the third person for $20 more. He said that with 3 of them, they would have no problem keeping the move at the minimum 2 hours plus 1 hour drive time. He assured me of this several times so I agreed to pay the extra $20 for the third person.
When they got to my old house a little after 8 am, the two movers started moving my furniture and the lead went over everything with me again assuring me that they would get this done quickly. He mentioned they accept tips and apparently I must not have responded to that in a way he would have preferred because I overheard him several times complaining to the other 2 movers that I wasn't going to tip them. I honestly had not decided yet if I would or not. It took them an hour to move my furniture with plenty of breaks. Jeff stopped helping at about 40 minutes. Once they were done loading my furniture, we drove about 45 minutes drive time to my new house.
Once we arrived, Jeff said he wanted to go ahead and run my credit card for the move. He said it would be for 4 hours. I said that wasn't right. It would be 2 hours for the move and one hour for the 45 minutes of drive time. He started arguing with me and telling me that it would be 3 hours for the move which would include the 45 minutes it took to drive to my new house plus an extra hour of drive time. He said it was a 4-hour minimum. I asked him to call his supervisor because I had never agreed to a 4-hour minimum. I had been told it was a 3-hour minimum and that’s what I had agreed to. His supervisor of course backed him. I had no choice but to agree to pay for 4 hours if I wanted my furniture.
I told him that if I was going to have to pay for an extra hour that I did not agree to, that I wanted my furniture unloaded within an hour so I won’t be charged for more time. That's when Jeff exploded. He put a lock on the truck and told his 2 movers to stop moving and get in the truck. He said he was leaving with my stuff. I told him that obviously if he left with my stuff, I would have to sue. He told me that I couldn't sue. That I had signed away my rights when I signed their contract and there was nothing I could do. He said it would cost me $1500 to get my stuff back out of storage. He was ranting, raving and shouting.
I immediately called the police. I kept begging him to just unload my furniture and stop wasting time that I was paying for. My fiance's 12-year-old daughter was witnessing this man have a complete temper tantrum. He kept saying how they had worked so hard for me and that I had not shown them any appreciation. Like I said, they took an hour to load my furniture with breaks and spent almost an hour in their truck driving to my new house all the while being paid the same amount as if they had been loading furniture. I did not understand why he was behaving as if they had been moving me all day without any sort of break and I had the audacity to ask them to get my furniture unloaded in an hour so I didn’t have to pay even more than the fraudulent amount they were charging me. I was completely hysterical that he was going to drive away with my things and that he was behaving so abusively ranting and raving on my street in front of all my new neighbors. I was begging him to just please give me back my stuff.
The police came and Jeff agreed to unload the truck. My fiance's mother who is 67 years old and I helped unload the truck because Jeff would not get out of it and would not in any way help other than to hand us things. At 11 am they had 3 items left to unload, but at that time, he put down 11:30 am on his contract. They were gone by 11:11 am, and that included the 30 minutes of drama with the police when he threatened to drive away with my things and told me I had no right. I find it completely appalling that he actually charged me for the time he locked my furniture up and would not allow his employees to unload it. I did not agree to pay 2 hours of drive time. They worked for 2 hours and drove for almost an hour.
That's the price I agreed to pay. The two movers kept apologizing to me and telling me they had never worked with this lead before. They kept telling me how sorry they were that this had all happened and that they couldn't believe his behavior. They were truly great, but I was so freaked out and upset that I honestly couldn't stop crying and shaking while I was trying to help get my furniture back before he snapped again. I'm not exaggerating this to gain sympathy. This was honestly the most horrific and out of control experience I've ever encountered.

This company is a total scam and now that I've read the other reviews, I realized it's their normal business practice. We were moving my mom into a two-bedroom apartment in NYC from NJ and decided to use "professional" movers so we googled movers, up came Father and Son. When we got one of the "family" owners, Sal, he said he was very familiar with this type of move and his rates were $96 per hour and he estimated the move would take no longer than 6-7 hours including transport so the cost would be somewhere between $600 and $700. Well, what he didn't ever mention at all was that you have to pay at least two hours additional for travel time nor did he tell us that we had to pay $50 for insurance. He only accepted cash and his worker said he wasn't supposed to take anything off the truck until they had cash in hand.
So we took pictures and called since we had to pay for "insurance," we assumed that the call would result in an easy fix and they would pay the leather cleaner to fix the couch. We weren't even asking for repair of other damages (like a chipped wooden cabinet that moved).
Well, that wasn't the response. First, there was no call back. Then several days later another call from us was finally taken and they indicated that unless we purchased covers from them, they are not responsible for any damage. We were absolutely never given that option to purchase covers nor were we told that if we didn't purchase them, any damage wouldn't be covered. I will be taking this to the next level and will go to small claims court to recover fees for removing the water stains.

They quoted us under $1,000 for a local move using one truck and 3 guys. The night before the move they called to confirm and recommended two trucks and five guys, which made sense since 6 years prior we did a longer distance move with the same house contents for $2,100. Upon arrival at the destination, the lead mover started the conversation that this move was going to cost a lot more and he was in contact with his boss. I realized what was going on: bait and switch. But they would not unload our stuff until we paid $4,300 by credit card. Making us sign a contract and wanting more money while they hold our stuff hostage is beyond dishonest. It is extremely disappointing to know that an industry can get away with tactics like this as one hears about these types of practices all the time.

On Monday, I was told they would come give an estimate on Tuesday afternoon. This was in order to load and ship on Wednesday morning, so I'd have my stuff on Friday before I started my new job. I waited from 5-8 pm in the heat and they never showed up. On Wednesday morning, I called. I was told that because it was a small amount of stuff, they didn't need to see it, but would come p/u on Friday morning. Moving to VA, this only gives 2 days to get there and I organized to start a new job on Monday. But what should I do? Okay, pick up at 9 am Friday.
At 9:30 am, they called and said "they were on their way". At 10 am, they called and said "they were on their way". At 10:30 am, they said they were around the corner. Since I was on the same street as this place, how come it took 1.5 hours of waiting and they were still not there? I called the headquarters in Boston where the people were incredibly rude and condescending. I got no help at all. Also, they told me the p/u time was pushed back until 1 pm since they had been unable to contact me the day before to confirm date/time, and “thank goodness I called”. The home office had transposed 2 numbers in my phone number and never called the local office to check it. They would never have done the p/u if I had not insisted with the local office that I speak with the main office.
They informed me that I'd have to take 3 days off from my new job to wait for the delivery truck. They could not explain to me how I could do this and still keep the new job I was moving to VA to take. I decided to review and assess my options. They lied about p/u date, size of truck, wrong phone number, and could not give me a day when they would be there. I doubted all my stuff would even arrive. I decided to cancel the contract and figure out a plan B. Luckily, I mentioned the mover problem to a friend who hooked me up with friends of his. As I waited for these movers to arrive (same day!), the crew from F&S showed up at 3:15 pm. They were irate that I had cancelled the contract and wanted to take my stuff. I stood my ground and told them it was too bad they did not communicate with dispatch. It is my experience that there is no one in the entire company who knows what they are doing.
I called several times to request a refund of my deposit, but it looks like he will freeze over before that happens. These people tell you whatever they feel like telling you, whatever they think you want to hear. It is all lies. I'm glad I was able to get someone else to move my stuff. I shudder to think what would have happened if they had actually gotten my stuff in their possession, lost and broken I bet. It’s really interesting to me that there is not a 'customer review' spot on their web page. It would put them out of business.

The same thing happened to me, as some of the letters I just read. They never mentioned extra charges for wrapping the furniture, never mentioned surplus gas charge, and wouldn't send me a contract ahead of time. They also threatened to keep my furniture, and told me to borrow money from a neighbor to pay the double plus bill. Calling back gets me nowhere, and also the same guy that denied being the guy who threatened me, sounded like the guy that told me, he was manager.
I don't know what else to do. I was robbed literally and I feel bad for being fooled by them. In fact I am very angry about it, and angry at myself, for hiring them without checking them out. They took my last cent. It cost enough to move with first, last, security, and whatever else, and then this blatant lie. They should be shut down, and made to pay back the money.

We were quoted around 5 - 600 dollars, the bill was $1,203.00. They broke my antique dining room table, thank God I took pictures of it in pieces. As we go through the boxes that they crammed, ah packed, lots of breakage. The top drawer on my husband's dresser fell off. They had packed my husband's tools with my children's baby pictures. Then we tipped them $80.00 and was chewed out because it wasn't enough and "it was just not right". I told him what wasn't right was my antique oak dining room table in pieces...Absolutely the worst, slowest, smoking, cell phone talking movers I have ever seen.
I'm trying to find someone that can repair my table and my husband's dresser. It's not something that can glued back together as they split the wood on the pedestal piling boxes on top of it. They have not returned my calls, so I guess the BBB and small claims court will be next. Wish me luck. This is one company that should be put out of business.

I followed my first mind and did not use this company for service, and I'm glad that I did not. However, I am being asked to pay for services that I did not receive nor request. I contacted Father and Son, requesting an estimate only. On 3/15/10, I further explained to Sandy upon her arrival that I specifically request an estimate, as I had other moving companies that I was considering as well.
Sandy acted as if she is so nice and honest. She is not! Once completing the estimate, she asked me to sign two documents--one for the estimate of service and the other document outlining the insurances--should I consider the service. It turns out the second document was the order for service. Sal called me on 3/30 to confirm the service. I explained to him that I did not order any service. He shared that I signed the order requesting service. I explained that Sandy asked me to sign the estimate and document outlining the insurance should I consider the service. My mother, who was from out of town, witnessed Sandy lie about the documents.
I spoke to Sandy today in hopes to resolve this professionally regarding the order. I was thinking that she would have been honest about the situation. Much to my surprise, she responded by saying "Well, you signed the document." I signed under the guise that she presented something else other than the order. I made it very clear that I wanted an estimate only. She was very aware that I had not made up my mind on selecting a company, as she commented that she understand and to give them a call should I decide on the service.
Sal called me today to explain that the contract was binding and that I may have to pay for the service that I did not ask for and have not received. He further explained that his legal department will seek to come after me for the amount of the services. However, he'll talk to a manager to see if I can pay a reduced amount of the estimated charge. I did not request the service from the start! Why should I pay for service that I did not receive?

I moved from Miami to Pittsburgh PA in October. Then a huge job opened up and I moved back to Miami in December. Now, when you move a full house plus a car, twice in a three month period you deal with so many service companies - storage, moving my car, packing, unloading, shipping....etc. I used Father and Sons moving company to move all of my goods (TVs, couches, books, clothes) from Pittsburgh, back to Miami. I can honestly say, Father and Sons Moving is the single most corrupt company I ever dealt with. The way they go about their business needs to be stopped. Now! I don't have the time, but if I could, I would sue the hell out of them.
You see it's not so much the money, it's the way they go about ripping you off. A consumer type company needs to come in and stop it. First, the person I spoke with, Robert ***, promised me the world. I told him with all honestly everything I had. I mean I had just moved so I knew that to get a correct price, it was vital you did not miss a thing, all the way down to a small lamp. I would later find out that Robert is just a snake oil salesmen. He could care less what happens after he makes the sale, I mean literally. It's as if he disappeared. He knew exactly what was going to happen.
Well, he estimated a price of 997.44. I also had to put a down payment of 670.50. He said this was a high estimate, that this is the best thing to do because this way you can only go lower not higher. This of course made sense to me. Total cost was 1667. Well the movers came in and packed up my things. So my things were packed, and they started their trip down to Miami. I get a call a few days after they left. The price now came to 2915! Now, I can understand a price change of 20%, more or less. But almost 100%. Robert said that his estimate was 2000 pounds off! I went to Kelly Blue Book, and some cars weigh 2000 pounds. And the most amazing thing is the most expensive and delicate things, my computers (I do all my work on a hand made 4 screen set up), did not get packed. I decided to put it in my car. How could you be 2000 pounds off. I did not even have 2000 pounds of things.
This is the thing. What do you do? Tell them you can't pay it? Tell them you're not going to pay it? Well ****, you can't because they have your things! Don't pay, and you don't get your things! It's a catch 22. Here is the craziest thing. Robert estimated 30 to 40 boxes. I had exactly 32! What in gods name was Robert doing to me? And why would anyone do that to someone? If he would have said the cost would be 2500, I could understand. But 1600! I told Robert, basically in tears, asking him what the hell happened.
But he is a snake oils salesmen and talks his way out of anything. I have been trying to get a hold of their service person, Tatiana *** since December. It's now March! Please, would someone, some company, look at my complaints and the others and please do something. The service they provided me went from a price of 1667 to 2915. And you are in no position to argue because they have everything you own. And I had less things to move than estimated!

On 1/9/10, Sandy came to give me an estimate of the job and she quoted me $96 per hour. It was a minimum of 4 hours moving and 1 hour traveling for 6 pieces of furniture. I said okay, I just wanted the job to be finished. She specifically asked me if my big screen TV was brought into the house through the basement door and I said yes, the last moving company brought the TV in that way. On 1/16/10, the company sent two movers to move 6 pieces of furniture. Everything was fine except they could not get my 57-inch projection TV out of the basement door. After ten minutes, I checked to see what all the noise was in the hallway. It was the two movers struggling to get the TV out of the basement. They scratched the TV all over the place and I ended up helping them to get it out of the house.
I also ended up moving half the furniture by myself. They really know how to play the time game. They take a hundred breaks, they sit around talking, it's a big scam. I asked the movers if I could put a claim in and they said yes. So I called GINA who basically blamed the whole situation on me and told me they could have just left the TV there. I said they should have wrapped the TV like they were supposed to do but she just kept yelling over my voice. All of these other complaints are true and I would never use them again. Stay away!

When this company arrived, they began moving boxes and when it was time to move the furniture, they had no tools and they threw my couch off the balcony, damaging it. Then when I called to complain, Sandy at Father & Son advised that they should have had the equipment and she would reimburse me. After they loaded the truck, they demanded an extra $300.00 or they would take my stuff to their warehouse, where I would have to fight them in court to to get my belongings. We arrived at the storage space and none of the 3 guys knew how to pack a storage unit. That explained why it took them so long to load the truck. I called Sandy again to complain.
Meanwhile, the guys were stealing items from my boxes which they had loaded on the truck. After several hours of trying to force my furniture in to the storage unit, they decided that they were done and took my things back to my old apartment. I have called them everyday since I moved on 09-30-09. They have been giving me the run around and they can't recall who they sent to move me. Those guys stated that they were not bonded. Steve, I just want you to know this had to have been the worst move job ever. I am so upset right now I want to report you to ripoff.com. First of all, I hired 3 guys. Two showed up. Secondly these guys took their sweet time talking, joking around, and doing nothing! All they moved was my furniture, 2 beds, 4 dressers, two night stands, 2 couches, 6 chairs, dining room table, washer and dryer. We disassembled everything. I am so extremely upset. We have hired movers before, and they moved everything down 3 flights of stairs and up one in less than 4 hours with two guys. What a waste of my money. On top of that, your guy took my mattress when I asked for it. (We told the guy if my friend didn't come, he could keep it. She called, and we told him specifically "Make sure you bring in the king size mattress.) My friend showed, and there's no mattress to be found.
Then we called to get our mattress back, and they said it would be delivered to her house between 8:00 & 8:30. Nobody showed or called. I am so angry. I wasted my money. I could have done this myself. I will never recommend your services, at least not at this moment. I called the day of moving, and I didn't remember whom I spoke to, but he had a bit of an attitude. I told him I hired three guys, and he said the driver called and said he didn't need 3 guys. The whole point was to cut down on time. That's what I hired and that's what I should have gotten. Who makes the decisions there? Your driver or your customer who is paying for the work. That's ridiculous. The only thing I got compensated was 5 bucks off an hour. I am so sorry I paid for your services. My hard-earned money was wasted! I hope you can make this right!
You guys are really something else. Ben, great customer service! I guess I am not the only cheated customer. No wonder you cannot afford to lose anymore. Your company is a joke. Steve, owner? Thanks for calling me back! The only thing you did have right was return my mattress. And for Ben to tell a customer they are a liar, maybe you should look at your employees. We chose Father and Son to do our move from Jacksonville to Princeton NJ. The issues started the day they arrived to pack the house (4/19/08). They advised they would arrive at 7am (we had a flight to catch at 5pm) to ensure that the house would be cleared in time. They eventually arrived after 9am and told us that they would be finished by 2pm so we could make our flight. They proceeded to take out the furniture, banging it down the stairs and on the wooden floors (denting furniture and walls). The main driver was having an argument with his girlfriend by phone so stopped working for an hour as we were getting more anxious about them not being able to pack the house in time for us to catch the flight.
We eventually had to leave them to close up the house because they were not finished in time. This was very stressful for us as we would rather have locked the house up ourselves. Chris verbally advised that the furniture would be delivered in Princeton the following weekend (4/25/08) if we were to avoid storage charges. This was confirmed by the driver when loading the furniture. As such, we had to get our apartment early (9 days) to allow this delivery. We made arrangements to sign the apartment lease on Friday 4/25 at 4pm to avoid storage fees.
On Friday my husband and I received separate calls at 10am saying our delivery would be at the apartment between 2:30-3:30pm as they were already in New Jersey. We both cancelled meetings in order to get to the leasing office to sign the documents and wait for the delivery. At 5pm the delivery had still not arrived so we phoned the Dispatcher at Father and Son. They said they would find out where it was. We waited and called again - this time we were told the van had broken down in Savannah Georgia. This was surprising given we had been told it was in NJ earlier that day.
We waited over night and called again on Saturday at 9:30am. We were told at this point that our furniture had never left Jacksonville and wouldn't be delivered until the following weekend. The customer service was terrible and we were passed to 2 people of which one put the phone down on us. We tried to get the phone number of the owner but were told no - we left him a message to call us. Nothing happened. We went through the small print of our paperwork to see what recourse we might have and realised the driver in Jacksonville put an agreed 5/10/08 delivery date on without us realising so giving themselves longer than they verbally stated to get us the furniture.
The following week (Thursday) we got a call from the new driver asking about new delivery options. He gave us the option of a Sunday delivery which we took as we had already taken enough time off work. The driver then called us Saturday evening and said the shipment wouldn't be with us until Monday morning. We had to then take more time off work. When the furniture arrived they wouldn't unload until we signed a disclaimer saying we wouldn't dispute charges through American Express. We were left with no option but to sign. The men proceeded to unload the truck with very little care, again banging our hall, stairs and landing with the heavy furniture.
When we started to unload boxes, they had packed things carelessly with the garden strimmer packed in with kitchen items. None of the glassware had been packed properly and items were broken. The whole experience was terrible from start to finish. We left 3 messages for the owner to call us to rectify the situation - he didn't call back. We spoke to Chris (Sales Rep) and he said they don't give refunds for the extra costs we incurred due to their constant miscommunications.

Newly painted walls, wrecked. Damage done to staircase walls sheetrock, 8 holes, wripped the trim, busted up a wall sconce. They state they are not responsible for walls or floors in their contract. Sure enough they state that in the small print to be signed the day of moving. These guys are the worst. I should have done my research on complaints before hiring them. I would never do business with these guys nor recommend them.
Physical damage done to my downstairs hallway, black streaks from either their filthy shirts or moving pads. The 2 walls going up the staircase have tears in the sheetrock, holes in the sheetrock and gauges. The furniture piece they were bringing upstairs to one of the 2 bedrooms was a normal size armoir. They not only tore up the place, broke my wall sconce they decided to bring the piece down, tell me about the damage at that point. AT what point did they say lets stop and tell the homeowner after the first hole?

We contacted these people just this week to help us move our large, heavy furniture items. They quoted us a rate of $110/hour. They said they'd be at our place by 5:00. Two hours late, they finally showed up at 7:00. They moaned and groaned about having to move furniture, but we grinned and bore it for a while.
Then they see the large entertainment unit, and our empty 50 gallon fish tank. They flat out refused to move the fish tank, because it is glass, and pitched a fit about having to move our furniture up 3 flights of stairs. So we dismissed them; nothing got moved.
We called the office (by now, it's 9:00 at night). The lady was apologetic for the attitudes of her 3 employees who complained about having to do what they were being paid $110/hour to do, and said she would have the manager call us immediately. He didn't call. So we called him this (Sunday, 6/1/08) morning.
He called me a jerk because his guys moved our couch for free.. I was heated, so to try to handle this professionally I asked my fiance to call him back. He called her a #$% when she asked for the owner's number, and refused to give it to her. We're filing complaints with every consumer complaint agency/company we can possibly find, and I'm telling Ken. For $110/hour, they should have been kissing my feet, not griping about doing their jobs, refusing to move furniture, and insulting their customers for being upset about the ignorance of their employees.
Now, we're paying rent in an apartment we're not inhabiting yet because they refused to move our furniture (they are a MOVING COMPANY!). And, we're having to ask our friends and family now to give up their time to help us move. We should have went with them to begin with.. it's way cheaper and they won't call us jerks at 8:00 in the morning for trying to stick up for our consumer rights.

(February 10, 2008) I was 9 months pregnant when we found out the house we were renting had a rat infestation so I called Father & son right away to get out of there. They sent two men that honestly didn't look like they could lift their own weight so I knew it was going to take forever! They absolutely destroyed the majority of my Ethan Allen furniture. They even broke a leg off a very expensive wood desk, but that wasn't the best part.
Once we get into the new house I realize my cell phone is missing. Of course we didn't have our new land line hooked up yet and I was really upset because I had no means of calling anyone if I went into labor. I thought maybe I had packed the phone by accident but my husband wasn't so sure of that. He continued to call it and low and behold Mike King (one of the movers) answered the phone and asked who was calling. My husband used some explicit words and Mike hung up.
After realizing that they had stolen my phone we had it turned off and bought a new phone with the same number. I received several calls from people asking for Mike after that. When I called Father & Son to let them know they needed to reimburse me for the stolen property they gave me the run around about how they were going to find out who did it etc but they never did anything. I filed a police report against the thief but it got me no where.
I gave birth 7 days later. I try to console myself with the thoughts that any jerk that would take n extremely pregnant woman's only means of communication pretty much has a one way ticket to ----. I will continue to tell everyone I know how down right evil the people are that work for that company. DON'T USE THEM FOR ANYTHING!

August 2007, we hired Neighbors Moving Company to move our home furnishings from Boynton Beach FL to Manassas VA. They in turn sent Father & Son Moving Company. We didn't realize is was a different company at the time due to the fact that Greg from Neighbors said they don't sub-contract any movers. What a lie. They sent us the WORST moving company available. They moving guys were real nice. Late but nice. We bought them lunch, gave them drinks and even helped them move the furniture as it was very hot that day.
Pick up day was August 27, 2007 with a delivery date to VA August 29-30, 2007. I waited and waited and waited for them. Didn't leave the house as I didn't want to miss them. I called and couldn't even get anyone to tell me where they were or even when they were going to deliver. The girl answering the phones over Labor Day weekend was extremely rude and couldn't give me an answer as to what to do to track my furniture. She just huffed when I asked her, like I was bothering her.
I then went on line and found all the terrible thing about this moving company. I panicked. Finally, on September 5, 2007, after not hearing anything from anyone, our mover Carl called to say he'd be here in an hour. Three hours later he arrived.
My brand new couch had grease on it and was ripped, my brand new love seat was filthy, my entertainment center was broken and they supposendly packed my kitchen table top in the way front of the truck and couldn't get to it right then so I was told that Carl had to go to Washington DC to unload the rest and would be later on that day or the next day with my table top. I have the legs and the kitchen chairs that were also filthy when they arrived. My kitchen set was only 6 months old.
Needless to say I got the run around on when I would get the table top. I called and called and was told it was coming - but as you can figure out it never arrived. Now I have to send in a claim form which has to come from the office in FL first. Then I have to fill it out and get it notarized. All of great inconvenience. Pictures were taken too and sent. In return I receive a letter to be notarized again stating that I will accept $168.00 for all the damages that occurred. I was outraged - but I had it notarized and sent it back in. Certified letter and this is costing me money for their inconsideration of my furniture.
That was in October it is now December and I still haven't received the lousy $168.00 that doesn't even cover the cleaning of my couch, or replace my kitchen set or entertainment center.

I hired Father and Son moving because their internet ad said they had been in business for years and prided their company on it's reputation and customer service. I was selling my home in St. Petersburg, FL and movign to Fayetteville, NC. They told me they would be at my home on December 11th - the 14th and they would call and confirm pickup and that delivery would be 4 to 7 days later and that I had to have a cashier's check, money order, or cash when they arrived at the delivery destination. They showed on December 13th with no phone call to confirm just the movers in a non descript unmarked moving truck and proceeded to move my stuff when I wasn't ready for them and ended up they packed my clothes on the truck and I had to go buy new ones. They then told me they would deliver on Saturday and I asked could they wait till Wednesday so I can overnight the money to my daughter for the delivery. They did not call they just showed up in Fayettville.
They did not call me just put my furniture in a storage unit somewhere in the city and will not tell me where till I pay for the move. I am not paying until I get my furniture~! I have called several times a day for the past few days to speak to the owner a Mr. Mike DeSilva and no one has called me back with where my furniture is, how much I owe, and where do I send the money.
They quoted me $2000 in the beginning then when they got to my house they said because I did not have the money for them it would be $500 a day to keep the furniture on the truck. This is outrageous! It was there error and they did not even have the decency to apologize! I am still waiting on my furniture and the owner to call Me!

I have never dealt with a company that was as recklessly unprofessional as Fathers and Sons. After being given a quote and setting up a pick-up time, I was told a day before the scheduled move that the only acceptable form of payment was a cashier's check or cash, despite the fact that I was not guaranteed a price.
On the day of pick up they never showed up; after numerous calls to their office they told me they would be coming on Saturday morning. On Saturday morning when they did not show up and I called back they said that the truck was in Connecticut -- the pickup was in Massachusetts -- and they did not know when it would arrive to me. (This is the same thing they told me on Thursday.) They also said they did not know when the truck would get to its destination, and still would not tell me how much money I needed for them. It was an incredibly upsetting experience.

When I called back in an hour, they said the truck was several hours away. When I pressed them, they said they had no idea when the truck would arrive.
To make up for this, they said they would load my furniture first thing Saturday morning. My furniture would be the last items on; the truck would go directly to New York, where me things would be unloaded first. That way they could guarantee the schedule.
None of this happened. The truck did not arrive on Saturday, I was not going to be the last on, and they had no idea when the things would be delivered to my son in NY. I would warn anyone to stay away from this mover.

After learning that I would NOT be moved on the day promised, and was told, if I didn't like it, find someone else, I went down to the office.

Outside of being an hour and a half late for the first move of the day (scheduled to arrive at 7 am), two of the three movers did little to help in the move. In fact one went so far as to say in passing that there were too many fragile boxes, and hinted that if we didn't pack it, we're not responsible for it. That aside, the job was quoted at 5 to 6 hours, and needless to say after 12 hours, an 18% fuel surchage that was never quoted (equating to almost $120 for moving less than 1 mile), and almost $1,000 in charges, I sent them on their way. I refused to sign the order of acceptance, and when I called the company the next day to advise them of my dissatisfaction and find out how to file a claim for my broken items (yes, the mover slammed speakers and heavy equipment on boxes labled VERY FRAGILE), I was told by Robby You're just going to have to figure out how to file a claim yourself. Additionally, when I explained that after 9 hours, I got up on the truck to help them speed things up, I was told by Johnny at Father & Son Movers, that "Sounds to me that you were just trying to save yourself money." Yup. Can you imagine running a business this way? I was promised 5 'free' wardrobe boxes with the move....nothing....those were never delivered. These guys send out coupons in the mail, provided quotes on the phone and then lie about the quotes. They said that I never told them that I had a full garage, despite my calling them 3 times to advise them of that to make sure they were prepared.

• I’d scheduled the move for 8 am on 5/27. Your three movers showed up at 9 am, with no comment or apology. I’d called dispatch at 8:35 inquiring about their whereabouts. The dispatcher said “they’re running late. They’ll be there in 15 minutes” and hung up, also with no apology. A call from your company re: the delayed start might have been appropriate.
• The movers seemed hung-over and surly. None introduced themselves or asked me my name, or ever used my name. One barely responded when I talked to him. One boasted about how he “thought about going home to get his gun when gang members harassed (him).” I thought this line of unsolicited conversation inappropriate and bizarre.
• Your head person spent at least 15 minutes going over the lengthy contract, and collecting my multiple signatures, when I believe he should have been working on the move.
• Christy assured me there were no “hidden fees” beyond the hourly rate she quoted on the phone. I had specifically asked her twice about this. However, when your movers arrived I then discovered there was an 18% fuel surcharge fee. (They also left the engine running the entire time). I was very upset to discover this, and strongly protested the deliberate misinformation Christy provided. Your head mover glibly said “ah, Christy’s always giving the wrong information.” He also bad-mouthed your company several times, and talked about going to another company.
• The rental Penske truck they brought had a hydraulic lift that was cumbersome for them to operate. At one point the lift overheated and they stopped working for 20 to 30 minutes.
• It would be an understatement to say your three movers moved extremely slow. The move took three hours and 15 minutes. I know it does not take that long since I have done this same move with two other people with a rental U-Haul truck in literally half the time. I believe I should be compensated for their late arrival, and their slowness in conducting the move. I explained to Christy prior to contracting with your company I anticipated the move taking well under two hours to complete. Again, it took three hours and 15 minutes.
• FYI: I used a local moving company a few years ago, also with three movers (who, unlike your personnel, introduced themselves, and were very professional). They completed the entire move in 1.5 hours, and that was moving from a second floor condo into a house seven miles away. This move was ground floor in both instances, with transit distance less than a half mile.
• Your movers broke a wooden case, spilling cassette tapes. They could not follow basic instructions, frequently putting objects in the wrong rooms that I then had to move myself. They lost the back to a CD/cassette player. Two off-white throw rugs (seven feet by three feet) made it onto the truck but they did not make it off the truck. I would like these rugs returned or else be compensated for their loss: ($60).
• When your movers returned to the truck at the end of the move they were overheard muttering obscenities. I would like not to think that the misinformation provided by your scheduler and the lateness and caliber of these movers is representative of Father and Son Moving.

I said that I had all the money in cash with the exception of $137 which I would pay in check he said he did not want a check and start to verbal abuse me by yelling that I did not have any money and they would not continue to do the work while talking to the person on the phone.
Regina requested to speak to me and Val gave me the phone while continued yelling in the background. I explained to Regina what happen and that I had $620 in cash money and would give a personal check for the balanced she again explained that the company did not except personal checks. I said that was the only way they could get paid unless they sent someone back on Monday so she agreed to accept the check. While having this discussion she heard Val yelling and asked me who he was talking to and I told her he was yelling at me. On April 20th 2005 we had Father & Son Movers move our household funishings and belongings. We moved approximately 1/2 mile within Hoboken NJ. Upon signing the contract we had declined insurance through the company as they said standard company policy was to wrap all furnishings in moving blankets prior to them being removed from the place of origin (the apartment we were moving from). On the day of the move, the movers did wrap some of our furnishings but not all. This was brought to their attention and we were told that they had more moving blankets in the truck and would wrap these items once in the truck. These items never got wrapped as upon arrival at the new location they were still not blanket wrapped.
Many of these items were seriously damaged. Various scratches on dining room wooden table and entertainment console. Wooden bedroom dresser leg was split, sofabed upholstery was torn and scraped on cement and the wooden frame was broken - it can no longer be folded out to a bed. While some breakage is expected in moving, this was excessive and due to neglect on the part of the moving team that day. They did not follow proper company procedure with respect to blanket wrapping. We have called and corresponded with the company on numerous occasions and have been ignored.

We contracted with them to move our modest 3 bedroom house on 11/18 between 11am-1pm. Keeping in mind that we had packed everything other than furniture and moved it ourselves. They only had to move an office containing two L shaped desk and a book case, our master bedroom (queen bed, chest, armoire, dresser), family room furniture (sofa, love seat, and sofa table) and guest bedroom (queen bed, chest, and a recliner.
The first problem was that they arrived 7 1/2 hours late...yes 8:30pm!!! During the lapse in time, I was calling almost every hour on the hour, and finally they became very agitated and used abusive language as well as threated to have their crew turn around. We were moving from a 2nd story apartment to a first floor apartment 3 miles down the road. We pretty much had the same problems as everyone else who posted. I was told to sign a large amount of paperwork, or they would not start my move. 3 men showed up, one did all the work, one did nothing, one was limping & told my husband he didn't even work for the company. They worked extremely slow, and managed to damage a majority of our furniture.
This included a $10,000 solid cherry 4 poster rice bed, matching dresser, a big screen tv, and dropped our $500 wood computer armoire off a curb breaking it in half. It was destroyed. The move took twice the time it should have, and they charged us several hundred dollars more than they quoted us. When my husband refused to pay, they held our big screen tv on their truck & said they would not remove it until we paid them in cash. All the while standing around laughing at us.
I was on the phone with the dispatcher & someone who answered the phone on & off pretty much the entire move. I even asked them to intervene, and send out different movers, and I was ignored.
In the end I spent 6 months with the local Better Business Bureau going back & forth trying to get a settlement. There was no resolution, because I was told I signed those papers, and they would only give us $85. Which we never got by the way. I just finally gave up. I don't understand how this company stays in business, or why someone doesn't put them out of business permanently??? It baffles me.

I had to find another mover locally they in turn charge me $ 2.250.00 to move and was here in 3 hours...
I want my deposit back of $ 350.00

It was a nightmare, they were so slow and rough with our furniture. It was hot and they didn't bring anything to drink and expected me to furnish drinks for them. They broke 2 computer desks due to mis handleing. We only moved 4 miles to another apartment and it took them an hour to drive there which I had to pay for.
It took them so long to load the truck i had to just get them to unload the truck at our new apartment and just set everything down in the middle of each room.

Movers broke a music stand on my piano. After at least 11 phone calls, I still have not received a pro-active return call, nor has the music stand been delivered, repaired, as they promised. I would not recommend Father & Son, especially if they break something--you will never get the item back repaired, nor will you get them to admit. Also, they require 100% cash payment, so there's no recourse. These guys suck.

I spent the next six hours watching my possessions on two floors of the building to make sure nothing was stolen. The new movers seemed great, and my stuff was on the same truck as my sister's. In Florida, they stuffed everything into the storage unit. I am missing an end table to my living room, but because I signed the paperwork indicating the movers had moved me, I couldn't file a claim.
Since I could only file within 90 days of the move, when I finally got my stuff from storage, it was too late to claim my bike (stuffed at the top of the storage unit against the garage door, thus ruining the front of the bike), and a table was destroyed.

The movers showed up 5 hours late with 2 men (supposed to be 3 men). One of our CD towers was missing at delivery to our new place (~5 ft high, $100). The movers told us to submit a claim to the company. We did, however, the company said the claim was invalid because we signed the paper (that the movers told us to sign) that said they had completed the job.
Our lawn was damaged.
Our CD media tower is missing.

Here's a list of what they did:
1)they moved empty boxes leaving full boxes behind;
2)they threw her good pictures in the dumpster;
3)they broke an antique table and a dresser but denied the fault;
4)they did not handle glassware with care and broke a lot of them (boxes clearly marked);

I needed to move my furniture from NJ to FL. I called Father & Son and was told that $850 was all I had to pay. It was not an estimate. That is what they told me because I was not moving to many things. They came to pick up my stuff. (They arrived over 4 hrs late) They packed my stuff and it took 2 weeks for it to get there.
Then I am told that I have to pay a little over $1500. I was about to start crying on the phone. They told me that if I didn't have the money they weren't going to give me my stuff. I was worried because I was not sure if I was able to get the money.
My uncle paid the movers. Turns out that they gave us a box that wasn't even ours, and they haven't delivered one of my boxes and my Gazzelle (exercise equipment). I called once again and was told that they were still in the area and that they would deliver our missing stuff but they didn't. They still haven't delivered our stuff. I have been waiting for 2 weeks!
I just called right now and he told me to call tomorrow.
Very disappointed and very upset. This is the worst moving company ever.
I want people to know that this company is not good.
