Rented a truck and car trailer for my long haul trip to Seattle (1400 miles). Got home to realize the trailer was missing lugnuts. (Mario said he just rented a truck and car trailer for my long haul trip to Seattle) (1400 miles). Got home to realize the trailer was missing lug nuts. (Mario said he just put new tires on the trailer.) Great inspection eh? So I call and the manager answered, I told him the situation, it said "it should be fine to still use it"... I hung up, thought about his answer and called right back. This time Tereca answered, told her the story and basically was told if I didn't want to take it to bring it back and I could call U-Haul to see if they had one I could use... (Budget was sold out in the entire state apparently) so I informed her I was right in the middle of loading the truck and that they needed to come get the trailer they should have NEVER let leave the lot, not to mention a 1400 mile trip.

The "manager" said they had no one to come get it and that I'd have to do it... So I called roadside assistance to see if they could maybe fix it (which you would think the store would recommend that). The guy came out. Repaired the trailer and I had him check everything else too... And mentioned this particular budget is known for this crap... So the next day we headed out... drove 16hrs and somewhere in the middle of Oregon, the trailer axle breaks.

Call roadside assistance AGAIN and had to wait 2 hours for someone to find us. I called them back to tell them I had 2 dogs in the car and we needed to go, I took my car off the car trailer and we left, with roadsides permission of course... Had to leave my car in Portland, OR until I could go back to get it. So now I had to spend gas money on it, and gas money to go back to Portland and then back to Seattle in 2 vehicles... This was a trip from hell from the very moment I picked up the truck.

I obtained a reservation for a 16' parcel van back in August 16, 2016 for a reservation for July 14, 2018 in Kalispell, MT. My Reservation # is **. I called today, June 29, 2018, to check on my reservation. What I found out was Budget Truck no longer has a dealership in Kalispell, and I was never informed. Furthermore, if I want a Budget Truck, I'd have to make a new reservation with the dealership in Missoula, MT 70+ miles away. Needless to say, I'll never use Budget Trucks again!

Like most other experiences posted here, mine is similarly disappointing: I reserved a truck with a credit card 10 days in advance for pick-up/drop-off in Jersey City, NJ. No indications from them whatsoever of any inventory problem were even remotely made. Two days before the rental, I received my second confirmation email from them. On the next day, less than 24 hours before the rental, a person at the pick-up/drop-off location (a gas station in Jersey City) calls and tells me they will have no trucks available and that I need to call Budget and cancel so I don't get charged for being a "no show".

This is June 29th... when the lease on our old apartment expires on June 30th, and municipal street parking permits/spaces had already been paid for and secured for the day of the move. I called the gas station back, and they said they were informed by Budget that there were no trucks available for the weekend. I then called Budget, and they half-heartedly apologized and looked into their system confirming there were no available trucks at all... in the entire state of NJ!! Unbelievable! They said an inventory "specialist" would contact me between 15 minutes and 2 hours.

Six hours later and the "specialist" finally calls and also offers a half-heartedly apology and saying he checked the entire region and no trucks were currently available... but there were a few in their shop waiting on parts for repairs... and that one might be available by the end of the day or early morning. Yeah... right. Stay away from Budget, I will be telling AARP to remove them for the reasons stated throughout this thread.

At least I was able to find a locally owned and operated truck rental place about 50 miles away who was able to accommodate me. Three cheers for Justin's Rentals in Hamilton NJ!! The cost will be a bit more, especially with the further mileage, but what does one do when a supposed "reputable" truck rental company pulls off a stunt like they did with me (and so many others in this thread). Lesson learned... STAY AWAY from Budget Truck Rental at ALL costs. I'd like to give them a negative star if I could.

I rented a truck last week. I confirmed it with credit card reservation. I needed the truck as I am moving and there is also a wedding involved. I called today to confirm my reservation and did confirm my reservation. The reservation is a couple hours away and I wanted to just make sure of the address. When I called the direct site the local site I was told that there would not be any trucks available today or tomorrow. I cannot imagine being put out like this. I had people helping me. I am disabled and a senior and I had to get all my things out.

I tried to contact customer service and of course it is outsourced and they said the soonest somebody could get back with me is within 2 hours. That's ludicrous. When I'm already on my way to pick up a truck that now I learn isn't even available. No one was even apologetic or understanding and of course you can't get ahold of anyone in the corporate office. I hope these people go out of business for the way they treat others. Please let me know if someone knows how somebody in corporate can be reached.

I rented a truck and trailer about 2-3 weeks ago, only to find out 2 days before I am moving that the trailer is not available. They "might" be able to get it on the day that I move. I'll write an update if I get it, but even so, I still have a sour taste in my mouth about the experience and the customer service I received. I had to call customer service a 2nd time (the day after my initial call, when I was initially told I would get a call within 2 hours). The inventory manager who I spoke with was very defensive and stated it's all based on availability and this information is given up front, and that it's the same with every other truck rental company.

I'm sure that's true, but I've rented a truck and trailer from U-Haul 3 times in the past 3 years and have not had this issue, always had the truck and trailer I had reserved available, and without them making me feel like they were doing me a big favor by providing me with the equipment I reserved. U-Haul probably keeps a larger inventory of trailers so that it's not an issue. The short of it is, if you are flexible on days and you're ok with having uncertainty about whether you'll actually get the equipment you need, then Budget is cheaper. For me, I have learned my lesson and next time I will just pay more through U-Haul so I don't have the headache. I won't be using Budget Truck Rental again.

The nightmare started when our budget truck broke down on the middle of a curvy downhill mountain road 45 mins from anywhere. Thankfully we had limited service and we called the roadside assistant number. It was about 8pm on a Saturday. We waited on hold, being told there were "high volume of customers calling and they would be right with us" for over an hour...no one ever answered. During this time a highway patrol officer stopped and tried to help us. He called a tow truck who said they had worked with Budget in the past. When the tow truck driver got there he refused to tow us because his company couldn't get ahold of Budget either and they were worried they would not be compensated. So, two hours later we decided to leave our truck on the side of the mountain road and find a hotel and try to call again in the morning.

In the morning after being on hold for 30 mins we did finally get to talk to someone who took our information and said they would get back to us. An hour after that we get an automated call that glitched and didn't play the whole message but heard that a technician would be to us in an hour so we headed back to our truck. An hour and a half later no one was still there. When we finally got a hold of someone they said the technician was going to met us at our hotel (We had never told them where we were staying) and about 30-45 mins after that he finally showed up.

Over the phone we had told the technician which belt on the truck had broke but when he showed up he came with nothing, looked at the truck for about 5 mins, left again to go get the belt we had already told him had broke. Finally he came back and fixed our truck. When we finally got to the end of our trip, a day late, and tried to talk to someone we were told that we would have to call customer service to complain (and probably be on hold for another hour or two...no thank you). SO, just know Budget might be cheaper but it comes at a cost of time, sanity, and safety. Choose another company especially if you are moving a long distance.

Rented a moving truck and my initial encounter with the rental person was dissatisfying. Not very pleasant and helpful. No truck inspection was done with him and when given the keys, was told "it's the last truck in the row facing south." No documentation on the vehicle was done prior to me taking it off the lot. I took the truck to my house, 3 friends and I loaded it and when they were following me to my new location, they noticed that the right rear passenger tire looked very low in air.

After arriving at our destination, we unloaded the truck and then they remembered to tell me about the tire and we looked at it. It was not low, the tire was blown on the outer wall. I called their emergency service and waited 2 hours for assistance. Tire was changed and I returned truck to rental location where I picked it up. They are now charging me with this fee (tire, change, roadside assistance) on a tire that may have had issues prior to my renting it. The tire was last "looked at" March 6, 2018 (3 months prior to me renting) and had renters prior to me. There may not have been documented damage as it was not noticed but there is no way to prove that I was responsible for a blown tire, which may have had defaults prior to my renting. There was NO damage to the vehicle whatsoever and they are trying to charge me for the tire and other fees. My safety in driving this truck was at risk as well and now they want me to pay for their maintenance. Sorry!

I have had to explain this situation to 10 different people! This is completely uncalled for and horrible customer service. You state you offer Ebates for your rentals but your website refuses to work and I called customer service and the number listed on the webpage to call and no one could help me. Responses of, "Oh I don’t know anything about it", "Contact your bank", "We can’t help you", "We don’t deal with that." Seriously then how come YOUR WEBSITE GAVE ME THIS NUMBER TO CALL! Oh and of course the lady at the pick up counter had no idea and couldn’t help at all either!

We were to pick up our truck at 9am from the Weyers Cave, VA airport on Thursday June 21. They did not have a truck ready. I then changed the reservation time to 11 am thinking that would give them enough to do their job. Boy was I wrong. Got there at 11am had to wait 30 minutes just to be acknowledged and helped. Then waited additional time as the truck was still not ready and they had no idea what I needed. The counter lady had to go out with a man and unload all the previous blankets and rental needs from the previous renter. They also had to then go get the car tow dolly hooked up. The truck was dirty and nasty and was not cleaned out from the previous renter. I should have realized from the beginning how bad budget customer service and rental was and walked away before this nightmare started.

We got home loaded up the truck and left the following day Friday morning June 22. We had the car hooked up behind the truck for being towed to Michigan from Virginia. The tow haul switch did not work. This caused a major stress on the engine and had the truck guzzling down extra gas and rpms running at 4000 almost the entire trip. Even the smallest hill we were topped speed of 40mph. An hour into our trip the check engine light came on and remained on the rest of the trip. I called roadside assistance to inform them but they hung up on the call 2 different times so I gave up. I talked to customer service and they informed me they couldn’t do anything for me until after I completed my rental. Wow great customer service. NOT!

Then our 8 hour trip turned into a 12 hour trip because the gas nozzle tube on the truck is broken and it takes 20 minutes to put gas into the truck as you have to constantly readjust the pump nozzle because it keeps shutting off and stating it is full so the only way to get gas in was by holding it at the tip and having gas splash out as you attempt to fill the truck. Reminding you again that the gas was using double the amount it should because it was overworking itself since the check engine light was on. Oh and then with customer service yeah they all SUCK. Everyone refuses to help you and states they can’t do anything for ya. So what’s the point of having a customer service department?

Yesterday I talked to a lady in customer service that obviously doesn’t know what customer service means. They stated she couldn’t get in contact with the drop off location at 3pm but they are open until 5pm so she stated she would keep trying for me to call back after a while to verify everything. Needless to say she didn’t do what she said she was going to so when I called back at 730pm and talked to a guy he stated, "Oh the office is closed and I can’t verify anything." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? No one can do their job. You had 4 1/2 hours to get the information and update the reservation and didn’t. WOW YOU'RE AWESOME! NOT! Once again fail on your end!

Needless to say I will be posting this information and rental experience on every website and rating experience found. I will be happy to pay for the car dolly because that actually performed like it is guaranteed and I had no issues with it. I am requesting half my rental back so I will pay $200.00 for the rental and I am requesting you refund the other $212.93 for this complete nightmare.

Also the place where I returned the truck disregarding all the information I left on the note and put another individual in the truck knowing there are issues with the truck that is endangering someone’s well being. Completely NOT okay! THANK GOD he stated it was only a local rental and not going a far distance or towing anything. You should change your voice message when you call to, "WELCOME TO BUDGET WHERE WE REFUSE TO PROVIDE ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND YOUR PROBLEMS ARE NOT OURS!" I hope to find that you are willing to do the right thing and try to make this nightmare end on a good note. Thanks.

I reserved a truck online two weeks before my move and the night before our move I received a voicemail telling me there was no truck available and to give them a callback. I called and finally 2 hours later they told me I could get my truck at a different location (5 miles away)- same time, same size truck. It was annoying dealing with the back and forth, but I was fine with the "small" adjustment. We showed up at the new location at 8am, like it was promised, only to find out the location didn't open until 9:30. We waited in the parking lot until then and called Budget. I talked to 4 different people, none of which would help me. We go inside at 9:30 and they tell me they aren't officially set up for budget trucks yet and literally have never had a truck. The woman said that we were the 8th people that Budget had sent there promising a truck that wasn't there.

I called Budget back (it was 10am at this point), and again they transferred me to 5 different people and no help. They said they were "expediting" my call and I would hear from someone sooner than 2 hours (spoiler alert- expediting meant we will call you in 4 hours). I was fed up so I went to U-Haul and got great customer service and the truck I needed. I was supposed to pick up my Budget truck at 8am and they never even called to try and get me a truck until 2pm that day. I was already unpacking at the new house by then. Save your time and sanity and go with a different company. I assure you it'll be worth it.

After specifically denying insurance and signing that I would use my own, they still charged me. I contacted customer service and told them of the error. As of yet nothing, so, I have been forced to challenge charge with my bank. They also did not tell me about another charge without my knowledge and again will have to dispute with my bank. At least U-Haul tells you about charges upfront. Their service is poor at best and as other reviews have stated, very unorganized. I too fell victim to making an online reservation only to have them lose it and send me to another facility. Customer service at its finest. I reserved a Budget Truck 2 weeks in advance. I received my email confirmation telling me the truck was confirmed and I had a confirmation number. My rental day arrived and 45 minutes before I was to go pick up the truck, I received a call telling me that the truck I reserved was not available and to call the 1800 budget number. I have no clue why the truck would not be available if I had reserved 2 weeks in advance with a valued confirmation! When I call the 1800 number, the worker told me that they would have to request the truck from a different location.

Once the request was processed, we had a window between 15 minutes to 2 hours for them to call us just to let us know if they have a truck available. I asked what happened if they didn’t have a truck after waiting for a call for up to 2 hours and he said they would have to call another location. Well that game could go on all day! So I looked into the competitor's rates, that being U-Haul. And even though the cost was more expensive, I went ahead and reserved a truck with U-Haul.

I’m very upset with my experience because I was looking forward to having a truck on a certain day at a certain time and I had that in mind for 2 weeks; to literally as I’m walking out my door to go pick up the truck being told it was now unavailable. My whole moving day was off schedule and started off very frustrating. The night before, the amount and types of rental trucks should be verified and the customers should be notified instead of being blindsided less than an hour before! I will not be looking at Budget again for any moving help in the future.

Corporate wouldn’t even answer to the man I picked up the truck from and when they answered for me I was told an inventory manager would get back with me in 2 hours. It took 8 hours for them to contact me. Once they did they had a car carrier 50 miles NORTH of where I picked up my truck. Also the t icu was disgusting. It had someone’s toenail clippings in it and wet dog food and smelt like something real bad. I had to take the car dolly in order to take my car on the out of state move we made. Unfortunately with lack of product knowledge I had to unload my vehicle from the dolly and leave it 2 states away from my destination and then return by Greyhound to retrieve at a later date.

Corporate only wants to reimburse me for the dolly I didn’t ask for and the cleaning of the truck. Out of the $313.00 they charged my credit card they are only willing to give me $80 back. This is my first time renting from this company and absolutely my last. I will not recommend them to anyone in the future. We picked up a truck July 8 2017. Today, June 1, 2018, we get a bill for $297, first time we’ve heard about this. When we picked up the truck nearly a year ago, we drove it 20 minutes to the location. Called and reported a flat to this location. We called and asked if we could return it and get another truck. None were available we were told. They sent someone out to fix it except they didn't get the repair right. The whole 6 hour drive from Kentucky to Missouri, we had to stop and put air in the tire.

When we turned in the truck here in Rolla, we told them about the problem so no one would undergo this. So now, nearly a year later, we get a bill for this amount to fix a flat. $50 of that goes to the claims company for administration. We called our drop off location here in town, who told us to call the company's 800 number. Did, couldn't help. Instead, was told to email the corporate office, that there was no phone number. So am emailing this. To bill us nearly a year later and for a nail in the tire after we had literally just driven such a short distance from the rental location? And for this amount of money?

AVIS BUDGET LEFT MY FAMILY TO DIE - The title is not meant to be dramatic. It’s true. My family rented an Avis Rental truck in order to get to my wife to her new job as a doctor. The plan is that my wife, 18 month baby and I will drive a half day in order to arrive at our new home. After insurance, we paid nearly 2K to drive a banged up truck with all our things it took us days to pack for a 13 hour drive. Near hour 4 of our drive, lights start flashing on the dashboard. We pull to the nearest hotel and report it to Avis. So begins the painful saga.

First, after an hour, two kind tow-truck members from an outside company come to help via Budget Rental’s request. They assess that the truck has water in the Diesel Exhaust Fluid line, and will not work. I explain that we have a tired baby, reserved movers for the next day to help unpack, and that my wife needs to be at the hospital the day after to start her career. The tow-truck drivers explain the situation to Avis Budget, and offer to tow the truck the remaining 8 hours, and then repair it. Avis Budget Rentals refuses, instead saying they’ll send a replacement truck, but give no E.T.A. The tow-truck drivers explain on our behalf that everything we packed for the last few days will need to be taken out of our 26 foot truck to a new one in the current torrential downpour. Avis Budget Rental doesn’t care. The tow-truck men apologize on Avis Budget Rental’s behalf and let me know there’s nothing they can do.

I call Avis Budget Rental, begging them to help. I’m told by the Customer Service rep., “I’ve been working here for some time. We aren’t going to tow the truck to your new home. You’ll wait and we will contact you when we have replacement.” I ask to speak to a manager, and after a significant wait, am told there’s no manager in the rep’s building. The rep. says she can send me to Customer Service somewhere else, but when she transfers me, I’m hung up on. I call back. No one seems to care, telling me to hang tight. I wait two hours, then three hours. I call Customer Service and Roadside.

I’m told they are still working on finding a replacement truck for me. I ask how will we move all of the tightly placed boxes, roped up furniture and other valuables. The new rep. seems to get mad at me for asking and says, “We have movers that do this for a living. You’ll be fine Sir.” I’m told I’ll get updates. I get one call. When I return it, no one knows who called me, and has no new updates. I call the office of where I rented the truck. They say sorry and that I should “really try to fight to get a discount once we get the truck back to our destination.” Finally, nearly 24 hours goes by, and here I am in a hotel, hoping someone will get back to me, while fearing that I’ll have to pay for canceled movers, and that my wife will possibly get in trouble with her new job because Avis Budget leaves us here in the middle of nowhere, with no resolution.

The moral of the story is don’t be like me. I’m still staring at my phone, hoping for more calls. I’ve made dozens, only to reach dead end after dead end. I can’t speak to managers, there’s no updates, and I’m always just told they're working on it. After the hotel meals, and other expenses, Will our possessions be damaged or even moved for that matter? Who knows. I’ll be left with nothing but a hard lesson. NEVER GIVE BUSINESS TO AVIS BUDGET RENTAL. Please, learn from one disgusted, abandoned customer left to die.

Like the many dissatisfied customers below, I am appalled by Budget's bait and switch tactics. Much like an airline overselling seats, Budget fails to keep its promises. It's all about their bottom line and NOT about your plans, your family, your move and your money! I reserved a 16-foot truck online. The truck rental place called me on the morning of the rental to say that he did not have a 16 foot, or a 12 foot, or any truck at all to rent me! He expressed his frustration with Budget allowing such erroneous reservations, which he said “Does this all the time.”

This same anger and frustration was expressed by the 3 other Budget truck rental locations I contacted that morning. Every single location showed that a 16 foot truck was available online – but when I called them, they had NO trucks of any size. The only reason I was able to rent a truck from your Norwalk, CT location was because the dispatcher was kind enough to call me back when she got an unexpected cancellation. I needed a 16-foot truck. I had made the measurements and knew exactly what I needed. Now I must travel 6 HOURS RT to pick up these few items, forcing me to lose another day at work and to spend additional time and money, all because of Budget’s faulty reservation system. AVOID BUDGET AT ALL COSTS!!!

Awful experience. Much like other reviews-- I received a phone call thirty minutes before I was supposed to pick up the 26' truck. They cancelled truck. They were not too concerned about the impact it caused. I was shocked, as we had movers ready. Their only response was--that is the way the system works, we can't do much about it, you don't have a truck. I recommend not to rent from Budget.

I reserved a 16' truck for pickup 09:00 AM, Saturday 05/26/2018 from Ellenwood Self Storage. I was contacted by Ellenwood Self Storage at noon on Friday 05/25/2018 to say there were no 16' trucks and my reservation was canceled. I immediately made a 2nd reservation with Budget Truck Rental for pickup Saturday, May 26 at 08:30 AM from Alpha Automotive Enterprises I. Because of the shorter notice the rental costs increased from $103.74 to $121.62. I arrived for pick up promptly at 8:30 AM to find the office closed and several other customers waiting.

The office staff finally arrived at 9:00 AM and stated they had no trucks and that one 16 ft. the truck was scheduled to arrive in one hour. All other customers including myself would not be able to get a truck! We had several people helping us move that day so it was fortunate I was able to secure a 15 ft. U-Haul rental nearby. My experience with U-Haul was excellent vs. my experience with Budget which was worse than terrible. I have requested that Budget reimburse me for the rental cost from U-Haul of a 15' truck for $218.00. I will update this review if I am reimbursed although I consider this unlikely. My advice to potential Budget Truck Rental customers is to avoid this company.

An hour and a half before my scheduled pickup time for a truck I was renting (with a reservation), Budget Truck Rental of Chantilly, VA sent an email stating my rental had been cancelled. No explanation was provided. When I called customer service, they stated there was no "fleet." I didn't need a fleet, just one truck! The representative then stated they would check if any trucks were in the area and that he would call back. He did, and stated there were no trucks in the area. In other words, my "reservation" meant nothing. Why did this happen? Budget Truck Rental should be ashamed of themselves. Next time I need a truck, I'll harbor no reservations for this firm. Simply put, they'll never receive my business again.

If I could give Budget zero stars I would. I reserved two trucks and two car transports for a cross country move which we are making tomorrow, and when we arrived this morning to pick them up and they had no trucks for us. The poor local agent was beside herself trying to help us and said that there were no trucks inside of 100 miles and wouldn't be few at least two weeks. I called customer service to find out what could be done and the customer service rep was no help. Once finally speaking to a supervisor, I was informed by the rudest man that this was my fault. MY FAULT.

Because a reservation is not a guarantee of service, it's simply a preference and if I had looked up and read the terms of service that is available on their website 24/7 I would have known that. The foreign booking agent that I reserved the trucks through on the phone never told me any of that. His accent was so thick that I couldn't even understand what he was saying. I reserved the trucks three weeks in advance and according to Steve, that was not enough notice to secure the trucks nor was it long enough to do anything to compensate us for the inconvenience. Budget is by far the worst customer service interaction that I have ever had and I will do everything in my power to be sure that my family is compensated for the now 8 hour late start we are getting on loading our trucks to move my family tomorrow. U-Haul went out of their way and tracked down two trucks for us and even matched Budget's rate to ensure that we got where we needed to go.

A 26 ft truck was reserved at Platte City Self Storage in Platte City, MO, more than a week ahead. I personally talked to Andrew two weeks prior to reserving the truck and to the owner one-week prior and then called her once again two days before the truck was scheduled for pick-up on Saturday, March 10th. When I talked to her again on Thursday, she told me that the truck was there and she was looking at it. I told her again that it was important for my husband and son to pick the truck up early that Saturday morning (3/10) because they would be on a strict deadline and had to be in Florida on Monday morning (3/12). They wanted to pick it up at 8:00 that Saturday morning, but she said they didn’t open until 9:00 am and assured me her son Andrew would be there at 9 am for them to pick up the truck.

Possibly hoping they might be able to pick the truck up a little sooner, my son and husband arrived a little before 9. Andrew, the owner’s son, didn't even get there until 9:40!!! That was not acceptable and other people had been there as well and left. After he finally arrived, they were told that the truck was gassed up and ready to go, so while my husband was filling out the paperwork, my 25-year-old son went to look at the truck and IMMEDIATELY saw that both front tires were in horrible shape with the right one having a large gash!!! The truck was dirty, (Coke spills on the center console, filthy floorboard, streaked windshield). My son immediately saw the tire problem! Why had it not been taken care of beforehand? It had been at the rental dealership since Thursday (3/08) according to the owner when I called.

Finally, after some conversation, it was agreed that Budget would replace one tire, but not both! And... my son and husband had to take care of the tire replacement situation themselves. They were told to take the truck to a nearby Goodyear dealership in order for the tire to be replaced. Unfortunately, the dealership didn't have it in stock and one of their workers had to go to a different dealership across town to get the tire. It took over 3 hours for him to return with the new tire. In the meantime, my son and husband are waiting at the dealership, as the truck is their only transportation. Then after the dealership finally received the new tire, they didn’t see to it that the tire change gets done immediately so my husband and son were not given ANY priority of getting the tire put on the truck and ended up having to wait another 2 hrs!

My husband even had to go to the back and find two employees not doing anything and certainly not working to change the tire on the Budget Rental truck. My husband was also told that the dealership customers had priority over the Budget Rental truck. It was 2:30 when they finally left the dealership. The other front tire should have been replaced as well because it was almost as bad (according to the tire dealership) but Andrew at the Budget Rental would not approve it to be replaced. He didn't even want to approve the first one either. Andrew also forgot to put in the 12 pads they were promised, so another delay was created by having to return to pick them up.

After receiving some wrong direction to where the rental truck was to be loaded, my husband and son didn’t get out on the road to Florida until 4:30 in the afternoon for a trip that should have begun at 10:30. Both tires should have been checked and replaced and ALL of this should have been taken care of BEFORE the truck was picked up... but NOTHING had been done!!! My son spotted the bad tires immediately upon inspecting the truck. AGAIN, this all should have been taken care of BEFORE Saturday!!!

By the time the tire was changed, a trip BACK to the rental store to get the pads that were left out of the truck by Andrew, and finding the correct way to get to the destination (Andrew also gave wrong directions) to load the truck, it was 4:30 pm before getting out on the road instead of 10:30 as planned. An appointment had been made months before in Trenton Florida at 8:00 am on Monday, March 12th. That appointment could not be changed, so in order to make our destination (1,200 miles) my son and husband had to drive until 4:00 a.m. to make the first stop in Nashville, which was halfway. Hotel reservations had already been made and by that time a 48-hour cancellation notice was impossible.

The drive was absolutely dangerous!!! The lights on the truck were so dim that even on bright you could hardly see the road ahead. The second tire (which should have also been replaced) was old, weathered and the tire had horrible flat spots that made the trip so bumpy you could hardly stay in your seat. This truck, in this condition, should have NEVER been allowed on the road, much less at night. The day from HELL was not over, because then the engine light came on about midnight, in the middle of nowhere.

Roadside assistance was called... My husband was put on hold for at least 45 minutes and then lost service. Thank goodness they didn’t break down in the middle of the night! Probably if they had, no one would have been there to help! Along with the truck being so noisy, and bumpy, it was discovered that there was also a huge uncovered hole behind the passenger seat, right above the exhaust pipe, and by the muffler. They had to stop and buy Duct Tape to cover it. Again that hole should have been found and fixed before picking up the truck during the inspection that Andrew said he did.

Finally, after the long grueling hours of noise and bumps getting to Florida, the second tire had gotten so bad and weather cracked that they had to find a Goodyear dealership. They told them that the tire was old and weather cracked and should be changed and confirmed that the tire would not be road worthy for the long trip home to Abilene, TX. Unfortunately, they did not have a tire… So they drove from Gainesville, Florida to the destination in Trenton Florida (about 40 miles) and called roadside assistance on the tire.

After being questioned rudely over the phone and being told that it was not guaranteed that anyone would show up, a very nice roadside assistance guy came to their aid and replaced the tire. The guy was astonished that the tire had made the 1200 mile trip because it was so worn, and had so many flat spots. He said the tire should have been changed before getting out on the road back in Kansas City. This was exactly what Andrew was told at the Platte City rental, but he would not approve for it to be changed and therefore put my family in a very dangerous situation!!!

The trip home from Florida back to Abilene was a little better as far as the tire goes, but then there was an issue with the DEFT gauge. It began to indicate that it was empty about every 25 to 30 miles, although it was full, but they had to overfill the Deft tank in order to trick the sensor into realizing it was full. This was done numerous times, as the deft level would get to a certain point, about every 30 miles and then start to lose power... they would have to stop, fill up the tank in order to proceed on the way.

This was absolutely a trip from HELL. The truck was so loud that ear protection had to be worn. The truck was so underpowered, it would not go above 60 mph with it floor boarded and on ANY incline it would not accelerate at all but would lose even more power!!! There were many highway miles that the trucks power would only be around 45- 50 mph. The truck was not overloaded; in fact, the max weight in the truck bed was only around 500 lbs. This has been a horrible experience and have only been offered an $80 refund. The trip as $1,200 not counting the extra time on the roads, and the extra hotels nor the extra DEFT we had to buy!

This could have been fixed with a repair, but after waiting for more than a couple hours and a number of calls to the roadside assistance team about 11:30 at night the service truck showed up. They took the tire off and did not repair but installed a new tire which was quick. Nine months later I get a bill for this at $556.81 for damage to the vehicle and a new rim. I have a picture I took with my phone which clearly shows that the object was in an area that could clearly be repaired with no damage to the truck at all.

I stated I would clearly pay for the repair but not the replacement of the tire and the a reasonable service call, but not 2 hours of after hours service when the expected time to be at my site was 8:39 and they showed up after 11 pm. This is an extortion act between the rental truck "Budget" and the service that they used "Pomp's Tire Service". I am not and would not recommend "Budget Truck Rental" to anyone now or in the future.

We were moving cross country and needed a moving truck for our small 2 bedroom, 4 room house that was 840 sq. ft. We researched Budget's website, which advertised a 16' truck that is recommended for a small house with up to 250 boxes, 10-12 pieces of furniture and less than 1200 sq. ft. home. We met all of that criteria - I had approx. 75 boxes, 10-12 pieces of furniture and a house that was smaller than the 1200 sq. ft. Moving day, I had hired a crew to load the truck. I go pick up the 16' truck and bring it home. The movers take one look at the truck and tell me that it won't work. I insist that Budget advertises that it will fit the space.

They start to load and within an hour it becomes clear that this truck is definitely too small. I call Budget and they don't have a larger truck (the next size up is a 26' truck). They keep insisting the 16' truck will work. I had paid my crew $250 at this point. I called Penske and they immediately got me into a 26' truck within 15 minutes (I could have used a 22' or 20' truck, but I couldn't be picky at that point). I returned the Budget truck and they issued a full refund, but this gaffe cost me a lot of money. The truck had to be unloaded and then re-loaded into the Penske truck. Budget is NOT designed for long distance travel and falsely advertises to compensate for their missing middle sized truck (they only carry 12', 16' and 26' trucks). Never ever again.

We rented a Large Budget Truck at an excessive cost (nearly $3000 after the add-ons). As dusk approached on day one we stopped at a rest area to stretch our legs and make plans for stopping for the night. That is when I noticed the truck had NO marker lights or headlights. This resulted in us ending that day's trip early because of darkness, putting us behind schedule. I understand that these things happen. I called Budget and was passed from one department to another, including someone in IT(??). I finally, was connected to someone in roadside assistance. They said that since we were "off the road an safe" at a motel there was no need to send someone out to fix the lights that night. Another delay to our trip, but for how long?

They told me I had to drive the truck to a service garage for the repair the next day, again delaying our trip and putting us further behind schedule. We researched the location and found out it was someone's home and not a garage. I called Budget R/A and they insisted that is where we had to go. We drove to the address we were given and yes it was in a residential neighborhood... NO GARAGE. My phone rang and it was the service tech who drove to our motel. He gave us instructions as to where to meet at some parking lot of an abandoned mall.

We met the tech at the mall parking lot and he spent the next 2 1/2 hours trying to get the truck lights working. He found several bare wires that had been rubbing or melted wires causing shorts and blown fuses. He was able to get the marker lights working and ONE headlight. I talked to the service tech and he got the call from Budget at around 8 PM the night before, but was told to NOT service the truck until the next morning. He said he was willing to come out the night before to work on the truck, but Budget didn't want to pay the additional cost of a nighttime service call. If we had been stranded on the side of the road they would have sent someone out. So much for being responsible.

After making our contact with Roadside Assistance we started receiving robo-calls from Budget inquiring about the truck and if it had been repaired. We received automated calls at 11:05 PM, 12:52 AM, 2:36 AM, 4:17 AM, 6:05 AM and at 7:37 AM. Our appointment was scheduled for 8 AM the next morning. Again we had to wait until light so we could drive.

I called Budget about an extension to our lease, if necessary, to get to our destination and unload the truck, but they said "NO" because they couldn't verify that there was a problem with the truck. I have to say my experience with Budget's Roadside Assistance was not deserving of 1 star. There were other issues like no washer fluid, and the back and forth passing the buck between the pick up point and drop off location as to which party was responsible for any additional issues. If or when I have another move I will remember my experience with Budget Truck Rentals.

Nice how a company takes a reservation for a facility that will be closed on the pickup date and doesn't inform their customers. Anyway, was transferred to a "rental adviser" named Luis who said the reservation would be transferred to 1830 S Wabash location for pick up on Sunday, May 6th. Communication skills were poor at best. They told me to call Budget to resolve the issue. You guys are Budget Rental! Do something to resolve. After 45 minutes of getting nowhere, we made another reservation with U-Haul. They were fantastic by the way. Budget has horrible customer service, not just this location, but the whole customer service center. It's unbelievable that they also don't know inventory levels at other locations. THEY HAVE NO CENTRALIZED SYSTEMS TO SUPPORT THAT INFO. What century are you guys in? You have to wait for a call back from an "Inventory Adviser" to get that info which takes anywhere from 15 min. to 2 hours for the callback, seriously? Don't waste your time with this company.

One star is generous since zero stars is not an option. We rented a moving truck in Louisville, KY, and dropped it off in Evanston, IL. When we picked up the truck, the woman let us know the gas gauge was just left of full, but that it should 'probably' be full. It's my fault we didn't look how far left the gauge was. This is pertinent. When we went to drop off the truck, the location had already closed and had after hours parking instructions with a key drop off. Before parking we drove approximately two blocks down the same street to a Shell gas station and filled the tank.

When we started the vehicle it looked like it was slightly above 3/4 tank, so we tried to fill it again. And then one more time for good measure. All three times it would take no more gas. We figured, at this point, that the gas gauge was wonky and we wouldn't have to worry since the tank wouldn't accept any more gas. Lo and behold, we were charged $45 for a gas and gas fee yesterday relating to the rental. When we called customer service, they informed us it was a valid charge because the location had to put gas in the truck. We explained what happened, and they said the best they could do would be to refund the $30 fee.

Knowing we did nothing wrong, we requested the situation be escalated. That escalation ended up with a denial too. Thereafter, we stopped into the Evanston location and the man had absolutely ZERO empathy for our situation. He even admitted the gas pumps at that station were probably "bad" (not sure what that means, but ok) but that he had to put a little bit of gas in it, "had" to charge the fee, and he wouldn't do anything for us. He even went so far as to literally say, "you did nothing wrong, but I'm still going to charge you." He said this more than once.

It wasn't even the fact that the situation went sideways. We own up to the fact that we could have come in the following day when they were open since the gas gauge looked weird. But to smugly say something like that, without an ounce of regard to customer service or basic human decency, struck a nerve. And now customer service won't refund the fee they previously offered since they escalated it. And the tier 2 people they escalated it to said it's out of their hands and they "consider the matter closed." Avoid doing business with this soulless corporate machine at all costs - they won't hesitate to rape you for every penny they can get (with a smug smile, no less).

There should be a zero star rating. After being given the runaround by the customer service number, I went directly to the location where they "fixed" it, and was told funds would be returned to my account by the end of business day. Come the following day, the funds had not been returned, and my bank told me nothing was pending. I again called the customer service line several times to be told by very terse and unpleasant staff that it would be 7 business days to return the funds and that no one could do anything otherwise short of an email.

Meanwhile I have an overdrawn account accruing fees and late bills accruing fees and zero resolution from Budget for their mistake. DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET!! I am writing today to express my disappointment with Budget Truck and Trailer Rental. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I went to pick up the trailer and truck and I must say the gentleman working the counter was not the most friendly and gave the impression he did not like his job. No enthusiasm and just looked unhappy. After checking in, he directed us to his associate, who, we soon found, could not speak English very well. I was concerned that he was our contact for the orientation of the truck and trailer. We could barely understand him and he had to repeat himself several times. In the course of the orientation, he noticed the right rear tire on the trailer was low. This should've been my first clue. But I trusted Budget to place me in a safe vehicle. This was my first mistake. He filled the tire with air and after a confusing orientation, set us on our way.

Friday morning, with the truck loaded, we noticed the same tire was low, so we stopped to put more air in it. My second clue. Once we were driving on I-75 N. luckily we noticed the tire was low. I called roadside service. By the way, your phone tree is quite challenging. They directed us to a Goodyear in Tampa. These folks replaced the tire that was low along with the rim. They mentioned it was the rim that was the problem. Anyway, now on our way once again on I-75 N. for about 40 miles, I noticed a young boy sticking his head out the window pointing to our trailer. Now the left rear tire completely blew on the trailer. We pulled off to the right side of the road and called Budget Roadside service again. We waited on the side of I-75 for 2 hours - this is unacceptable!! Budget kept us trapped in an unsafe area, on the side of one of the busiest highways in the country for 2 hours, after renting us an unsafe vehicle/trailer!

Once service arrived, he only had 1 tire, so he replaced the bad one. As he was fixing this tire, he noticed a huge nail in yet a different tire! He followed us to the next exit where he called Budget and said he could take care of this tire but it would be at least 2 more hours. At this point, we had been on the road since 8 am and almost 8 hours later we are only 2.5 hours out of town - because Budget rented us an unsafe trailer!! Instead of waiting another 2 hours, I paid a local tire company to replace this one so we could get on the road. This customer service is completely unacceptable! DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET!!! You will be frustrated and angry!

I have been on hold for 1 hour and 45 minutes AFTER I was told I was being transferred to a supervisor. We rented a 26' Budget truck to move from Illinois to Minnesota, about halfway through the 6 hour trip - just north of Madison WI, a warning light came on, I began to navigate to the shoulder when the truck began to lose power (I was traveling at 65 MPH in moderate to heavy traffic on Interstate 90) - I was able to get to the side of the road as I lost power. I called roadside assistance and after being on hold for a little while Budget told me that a mechanic would be there in an hour. An hour and a half later the mechanic arrived.

He was not able to fix the truck, and left. I again called roadside assistance and after another hold was told that they could not send a tow truck until the mechanic "dis-positioned" the call. It was an additional 2 1/2 hours (and multiple phone calls) in 35 degree weather before a tow truck showed up. I was on the side of a busy interstate in 35 degree weather, with all of our possessions, unable to start the truck to keep warm. When Budget EVENTUALLY towed the truck (and myself) to a safe place, they did not have a solution for us. We needed to get a hotel room for the night, and pay for it ourselves. (We are fortunate we could pay for it - those who couldn't would have had to sleep in the truck in 30 degree weather).

After multiple calls to customer service AND roadside assistance we were told that we would have to wait until 6am when the "inventory" office opened - this was a LIE- "inventory" as we found out didn't open until 9am. Sometime AFTER 10:30am they told us that a truck was being towed from Naperville, IL (where we came from!) - it would take 3 1/2 hours to get the truck there. They were going to hire people to move ALL of our things from 1 26" truck to another so we could continue our trip. I had to explain to them that towing the broke down truck to our destination would be cost effective for THEM and time saving for us - Again I helped save them money- it cost me 24 hours and time missed at work - and they charged my CC for the full price. ALL phone calls were initiated by us NOT them. They offered reimbursement for hotel and food and $100 off the bill. for loss of 24 hours and loss of work.

If I could give a negative amount of stars to any company it would be Budget. We were moving from Colorado to Texas and made it 4 hours from our destination and lost power, steering, and brakes. I managed to pull off the road luckily without harm to ourselves or anyone else on the road. We immediately called roadside assistance which we did actually pay for and were on a waiting list for an hour before anyone answered the phone.

4 hours later a mechanic finally shows up and was unable to fix the issue. We now have called Budget numerous times without any response to possibly getting another truck or fixing our issues for hours. WE BEGGED THEM TO HELP US! We were now forced to go to another truck rental company. We then had to wait another 4 hours for a tow truck so a total of 8 hours... UNBELIEVABLE... Mind you we are responsible for the truck until it is out of our possession but all they were concerned about was if our stuff was out of it...

Budget says they take pride in offering well maintained reliable vehicles and says they strive to go the extra mile to give customers a positive service. I was offered none of the above. Fast forward to trying to contact customer service for a refund of some sort and all they want to give me is 20 percent of the truck rental *only the truck* (not including what we paid for insurance and road side assistance) which doesn't even cover the cost of forcing me to go to another truck rental company. Nor does it cover the cost of the suffering we went through. DO NOT USE BUDGET. You will be extremely disappointed.

I've been renting from Budget for the past 8 years. 5 of them here in my hometown. For the past 6 months I've been complaining about the cleanliness of the truck but driving a pigsty and driving an UNSAFE ** that's a different story. I've attached the pictures of the tires bald with a gouge tread showing and the tires below DOT and MTO in Ontario specs less than 2/32 on the tread. I'm a truck driver and in my book this is a major defect. I've complaint ump times to them about the cleanliness of the truck just to receive a joke of $56.50 refund. I give them $6,000 per year in vehicle rental.

Now I'll have to train my hubby to do a proper pre-trip (safety wise) and refuse the truck and we'll go somewhere else for a truck. People check the safety of your truck for major defects ask a truck driver to know what to check, I don't give a ** about the oil or coolant let it seize up or overheat they WILL have to take it off the road. That's the only way we will get rid of these unsafe junk. If tires are bald before you bring it back to make sure they won't rent it to another poor soul, run over a nail they will scrap the tire for sure. Enough already of this **. Oh and I've sent the pictures to the MTO here and my next step they are going to the USDOT.

I reserved a 26-foot moving truck with Budget online and received a confirmation over a month ago. My husband and I are relocating from Maryland to Illinois to live near family. We have a 2-year-old and a 10 month old. We have had all the (many!) detailed logistics in place for months, and were scheduled to pick up the truck and load it tomorrow, March 29. We got a phone call from Budget TODAY, March 28, the day before our reservation, and someone informed us that they do not have a truck available for us to use tomorrow. We have planned for months to load the truck tomorrow and drive out.

Budget offered us no solution, and hung up on us during the phone call. Perhaps our frustrated speech was an inconvenience to the less than helpful representative. Someone eventually called back 2 hours later, to offer us a truck that was 2 hours away from our house - we would have to go pick it up ourselves. We were again hung up on when we said it is not possible for us to drop everything and drive with our toddler and infant 2 hours away. We were able to reserve a truck with another, more professional and reliable company, but at a premium cost due to the last minute nature of the reservation. No one from Budget has apologized or offered any type of viable solution for this breastfeeding mother. Save your frustration and dont waste your money on a company that doesnt care about people.

My wife and I have been renting from Budget Truck Rental yearly since 2010 due to the type of job she has and never had no problem with Budget until now. Today is March 9, 2018 and we have been sitting on the side of the highway since 12:00 am this morning. It's now 8:07 am and still sitting on the side of the interstate. Here's the story. 2 tires blew out on the trailer, when Goodyear tire finally arrives 4 hours later to fixed the tires which took 2 in a half hours the Goodyear maintenance person realize the trailer brakes is messed up and the trailer isn't functional. The Goodyear maintenance person had to call Budget Truck Rental to inform them the trailer isn't working properly and never should have been given to us and this is why the tires had blown out.

Now, we still waiting on the side of the highway and Goodyear technicians are gone. The Budget technician states we need a new trailer and it will take another 2-3 hours. I decide to call Budget CSR to inform him about the incident and to see if we can keep the truck for another down due to the setback, my wife and I had to call out from work today because we won't make it to the destination we headed to on time. The CSR stated' "There is nothing we can do about it." Really, it's because of you (Budget) we had a setback. Your company should have never given us a bad trailer and should have inspected it. Now, we're out of the Budget Truck Rental fee, gas for the truck and my car, the trailer fee, lost wages and time, you can't accompany us an extra day. Never again will we rent from Budget. When we finally get this trailer we're done with Budget.

I set up a moving truck rental 17 days before my moving date with Lakeland Rentals in South Portland, Maine. The day after I set up the rental my credit card information was stolen and was attempted to be used for purchases. Then, three days before I was to pick up the moving truck, I received a call from Lakeland Rentals saying they would not have any trucks available on my pickup date and that I could be put on a waiting list. They called me right before closing time so I would not be able to call them back until the morning. I then called Budget truck customer service and was told that they didn't know why I was being told there wasn't a truck available because they showed four trucks available of the same size available at my rental location.

Three of the trucks were currently reserved (including my reservation) indicating that there were plenty of trucks available to fulfill my reservation. The manager who called me back was courteous, but could offer me no more help other than waiting to call Lakeland Rentals in the morning, or cancelling my reservation to try to find me another truck at a different location with the possibility that a truck wasn't available. Needless to say I cancelled my reservation with Budget and found a different rental company for my move. I would NOT recommend a Budget truck rental to anyone.

On 3/2/2018 we picked up a rental truck and vehicle tow hauler in Denver, with our final destination being Phoenix Arizona. On the second day of our trip, approximately 90 miles North of Phoenix Arizona at 10:00 AM we heard a loud bang come from underneath the hood of the truck. The truck was making horrible noises and slowed down considerably. We pulled off to the shoulder of the highway and began to notice a strong odor of exhaust coming into the cab of the truck. We contacted roadside assistance to report the breakdown. Roadside assistance told us that the wait would be 2 hours. We asked if the mechanic was coming from Payson, which was 20 miles away or Phoenix which is two hours away. She responded Payson.

The area in which we were broke down was remote, so there was no place that we could use the restroom, get water, etc. The two hours passed with no mechanic. We called roadside assistance again and they put us on hold. When the customer service agent came back on she stated that the mechanic was running late due to a snowstorm. There was no snow in the Phoenix area and has not been for years. The mechanic arrived an hour late and proceeded to look at the vehicle. It took another hour to finally diagnose the issue as a blown engine and it would have to be towed. The mechanic informed roadside assistance that he was unable to complete the repair and that the truck would have to be towed.

The mechanic told us that roadside assistance should be calling us. The mechanic left and 1/2 hour later we received a call from roadside assistance telling us that they would tow the truck to our final destination and would drop it off. We told roadside assistance that they were NOT going to dump a broken down truck at our new apartment as there was no parking that could accommodate it. Our plan was prior to the truck blowing the engine was to arrive in Phoenix to be met by our friends to unload the trailer and return it. We were told that they had to bring it to our final destination. We once again told them that it was not acceptable, as there was no place to park a truck. We were then asked "how were we going to unload it in the first place if there was no parking?"

We explained that with a running truck, we would have been able to move it if other tenants needed to move their vehicles from a parking space. We asked if the vehicle could be towed into a secure budget lot and they could bring in a transfer crew in and transfer our belongings to another truck. The supervisor stated that they could have the truck tow it into Tempe Arizona, but could not promise that a crew could transfer our items to a new truck. The supervisor dispatched a tow truck from Phoenix, which would take 2 hours to arrive. At 6:45 PM a tow truck arrived. We took our vehicle that was on the tow dolly off and drove into Phoenix. We arrived in Phoenix at 8:30 PM

During this whole ordeal there seemed to be absolutely no sense of urgency on the part of roadside assistance. We explained to them that we were in the middle of nowhere with snow on the ground and no heat as when we turned the truck on exhaust would pour into our truck. We had no food, water or access to restrooms. We had our two small dogs with us as well. I am diabetic and my husband has cardiac issues and for us to be stranded on the side of the road from 10:00 AM - 6:45 PM is completely unacceptable. We were even told that we should have stayed on the major highway, because it may have been quicker. The route we took is the route we had to take to reach our destination. During the conversations with roadside assistance, all we heard is, “No, we can't do that.”

I am asking for a full refund of what we paid for the truck and reimbursement for the movers that we had to hire to assist us with moving our belongings into our apartment, as we had made arrangements with friends to move us on Sunday, but they would not be available during the week as they have to work. I have attached a copy of the invoice. When I called customer service, they said that they would refund only $120.00. This will not be acceptable at all.

Beware of these scammers! We rented a 12' truck to move our daughter to another city. The truck was very dirty and old, so we didn't think it out of place that it made a lot of noise as soon as we pulled out of the Budget parking lot. Midway through our trip, on the interstate, the re-tread on the rear tire peeled off suddenly. We nearly overturned, but finally managed to get the vehicle safely to the side of the road. After waiting hours in boiling heat for Budget's people to come and change the tire, we got back on the road with our intended arrival time ruined.

Funny thing is that all the noise that the truck made as soon as we started our trip was gone after the tire was replaced. From what I read, that means that the retreaded tire was already faulty before we even got in the truck. Now Budget says that their faulty tire is our fault and is considered damage to their vehicle and so we have to pay the entire bill which is over $500.00. What a scam - making us pay for a top quality tire to replace the cheap faulty one they sent us off with that nearly got us killed. Your life is truly in jeopardy with anything rented from these folks and it is shocking that Budget lends their name to this operation. Shame on you, Budget!

I order a 26 foot truck 2 weeks in advance for my move and they didn't think to tell me it was unavailable until noon the day before my move. I got a 16 foot truck instead "at no additional cost" and I could have canceled and they would have "removed the cancellation fee". Um okay... So I got an pick up my tiny truck that is not big enough for my move and they end up charging me for the 26 foot anyway. When I called the shop, they told me they can't fix it in their system or it will cause a glitch so I better talk to Budget directly. Well considering you're the idiot who input the wrong price, you should do this instead of me wasting my valuable time.

But I call Budget and sit on hold for 10 minutes before I get a person. When I do, I am told I will be refunded $180 dollars once my reservation is closed so he would put notes in the system and I need to call back again...instead of them just doing it. Why on earth couldn't they just give me the refund then? So I call back the next day and the woman who answers (after 15 minutes) tells me (after being put on hold 2x) that there are no notes in the system and she could give me $105.

Well that wasn't going to work so I demanded the $180 which is the difference between the two truck prices and she refused again. She told me "the rate doesn't exist anymore" despite the fact that I was looking at the website right then and there. I told her I needed to talk to her supervisor and was put on hold...again. When I finally get the supervisor and told him the situation, he put me on hold AGAIN! Then he told me the rate doesn't exist and that I couldn't get the $180. I told him he was being absurd and that I was looking at the rate and he needs to compensate me the $180. Finally he agreed. I honestly don't have a lot of faith that I'll get that money on my card again. This is the worst company to work with. Spend the extra money to get a Uhaul or something else because this crap company will do nothing but try to take your money and give you the wrong sized trucks. Waste of my time.

It's difficult to put into words the rage and disappointment I have with Budget. You make your reservation two weeks in advance. You cut your Thanksgiving holiday with family short to fly back to do your move. And what happens? No truck. None. Nada. Countless phone calls made to figure out what's going on. Being promised at five different points that you'll get a callback, in 20 minutes to 2 hours, 45 minutes, 1 hour, first thing the next morning. Never a single callback. When you get customer service on the phone, the best they can do is say sorry. The worst they do is cop attitude and say there's no way to call an inventory manager (which is untrue). So in the end, I'll have to book more flights to come back again, hope that I can re-schedule labor, and spend an additional 6 hours driving.

Thank god I happen to have a car here to get home - and that I have some flexibility with the move-out date. I can't imagine the mess I'd be in if I was in a normal situation and had to be out before the first of the month; it would be an absolute disaster. All I can do at this point is never use Budget again. The only advice I can give is whatever you do, DO NOT use Budget for your move.

I had rented the car for two week using the website and prepaid as the cost was about 40.00 dollars cheaper. I picked up the car on Monday Nov. 13th. On Tuesday Nov. 14th my insurance company informed me that my car would be a total loss. I had figured as much so I had already been looking at a few cars. Tuesday evening I purchased a car and the dealership was nice enough to return the rental car to the pick up location at 10 am on Wednesday morning. I was then informed by the Budget customer service reps that I would not receive a portion of the rental back due to prepaying online.

I then scoured the website and my email to see where it was notated that this was a policy. I found nothing in the terms and conditions nor did I see anything in my email. I used the car for a total of two days, I am even willing to say three days along with the discount code through USAA bank as I am in the military. I understand returning a rental early may encounter fees but 422 dollars for a three day rental seems to be a bit much. And to not have a disclaimer to those who choose to prepay is unfair and just wrong. Had I known this fact I would never have rented from them. Beware that if you prepay online you will NOT GET ANY MONEY BACK IF YOU RETURN EARLY. I had no way of knowing how the process would take. I rented a truck from NC to NJ along with moving blankets. I returned the truck in exactly the same condition and with ALL of the blankets that I was given. However the rental location that I dropped off at said that I was missing a blanket and charged me $29 for the missing blanket. I contacted the rental location manager and got nowhere. Then I contacted Budget Truck corporate who said that it was the location managers word against mine and that they would not issue a refund of the charge for a "missing blanket". Then they gave me some email address that I could send a complaint to. They were incredibly unaccommodating and would not even consider that the issue may have actually have been on their side as opposed to mine.

Also, they never contacted me to let me know that they intended to charge my card for the $29 and they provided no receipt or email notification of the charge. The only way that I know that they did it was from checking my credit card receipt. Budget Truck has lost my both business and the business of everyone that I will share this story with over a measly $29. And I do intend to tell everyone that I know what an incredibly horrible experience that I had with Budget Truck and how completely unreasonable both their employees and customer service policies are.

On August 10th 2017 I picked up my reservation for a 26’ Budget truck along with a tow dolly for our small car… in Branson, MO. The very first issue was the tow dolly did not have a usable pigtail to connect the trailer lights… no big deal, I got the dolly home and fixed it myself. After loading up we headed to our destination early in the morning… around 9:00 am I noticed the AC wasn’t working… in August… in Missouri. I still wasn’t upset as I know these things can happen so I called to let Budget know so they could make arrangements to repair the truck once I drop it off in WY. Now here is when things got bad. About halfway through the trip I noticed the truck wasn’t running quite right and we seemed to be using a lot of gas. I called to take to someone who might know something about the truck.

There is no such person at Budget and I found out that calling customer service or roadside will require a lot of patience and waiting on hold. This was a diesel so we thought maybe we needed DEF fluid, but this particular model did not use DEF. Customer service was more concerned about making this convenient for them and not so concerned about my time or convenience. I had help scheduled to meet me to unload our truck so time was becoming an issue. Approximately 4 hours short of our destination the truck had slowed to 30 MPH on the highway and had no power. Once again I was on hold trying to get roadside or someone who could help fix this issue. While on hold I googled the symptoms and found a procedure to clear out the exhaust filter or a purge is what it was called. This process took about 40 min and was completed by the time I was taken off hold.

Keep in mind that I am on the side of Hwy 25 North in the middle of nowhere with two small children, the complete content of my home, and it is now dark. After the purge the truck did start and we were slowly on the Hwy again, but it did not last. After a couple miles the warning light came on again and I had to pull over and repeat the process. Once on the road again, 2 more miles and the truck shut down and was unable to start. We had to leave the truck on the side of the road and get a ride to a hotel. This is about the time we should have been to our final destination. About 4 hrs short. It appears Budget customer service and their roadside are two different entities and every call required me to repeat what I considered to be an excessive amount of information after being on hold for an average of 20 min each time. Convenient for Budget, not so much for my family.

Now I have a full 26’ truck that doesn’t run with a car in tow sitting at a tow lot the next day. We are exhausted and are facing options of unloading this truck at a tow lot and transferring it to a different truck, leaving the truck to be repaired and getting it later, or having the truck towed, but on Sunday there was no one to provide answers or options. We decided have some family help us unload a few things to help us sleep in our new home so we left most everything and we made the final trek to our new place and meet with the keyholder to the home. We had to purchase some small-wares to get by. On Monday the decision was made to tow the truck and we had the truck and unloaded by Thursday the 17th and I had to unload without the help I had scheduled and around my job. Once again I was exhausted. I found that I am really not as young as I used to be.

Now this whole time Budget is telling me that I am responsible for this truck, but they left this truck in my yard for a week after it was unloaded before they came to get it. I had to store their truck for them and they made me responsible for it. I’m pretty sure the tow lots Budget uses does not store these trucks for free and it was just expected of me? By this time I have spent hours on the phone trying to get answers, scheduling, and now closing this rental. I call to try to close this rental and they tell me they cannot until I turn in the truck. Really? The drive shaft is dropped in my yard and when the picked it up, it went to a shop to be fixed. I still don’t know if this has been closed out and this is 10/03/17.

I have no idea how these people stay in business. I have seen the other complaints online and I can’t imagine why anyone would ever use these guys. I know the temptation of cheap rental trucks is strong, but you are really rolling the dice if you rent from Budget. I use a rental truck on occasion as we are a family that moves more than most and our hobbies require it at times, but Budget got the last dollar from me that they will ever get. This issue is still ongoing and I’m not about to let this go as me and my family went through a lot of discomfort and to this day the customer service reps I have talked to do not even express any form of apology for renting me a truck that was defective or for what they put us through. They seem defensive like they are protecting their wallet. Unbelievable! This is the first rant I have ever done. Not my thing, but these guys have gone above and beyond.

Reserved a 16ft truck on 7-2-17 to move my son over Labor Day weekend. Got email confirmation and email the night before verifying pick up time. Got a call a half hour before pickup saying my truck was not available and I would have to drive to Evanston to get alike truck which is over an hour from the house vs 20 minutes. I asked them to go pick up and they would not. Said the only thing they had was a 26ft truck which they would swap for same price. Said it was much too big for what and where I was going in a residential area but I was out of options so went to pick up.

1st 26ft truck ramp would not come out totally. 2nd 26ft truck did not have ramp. 3rd 26ft truck another ramp that would not come out at all. Owner tried to call around and son/I went to lunch. Came back-nothing available. What a waste of time. Never again. Went to nearest Home Depot and rented a Penske truck. In/out in 10 minutes. Just terrible. You make reservation months in advance and get verification and email reminder to find out my truck is not there. Wasted over 3 hours of my time. Stick to rental cars. Bet the renters who returned broken ramps got charged and then never fix item just ship to different dealer. Joke.

I will NEVER use Budget again. I booked a moving truck from the Davis location on Olive Drive one month in advance of the day I'd need it. I get a call at 4pm ONE DAY before I'm supposed to pick up my truck from a guy who seemed less than sincere saying that they don't have any trucks left and won't be getting any in for at least five days! Where the hell did my truck go?! How is this place's inventory tracked?!?!? This left me stranded without a truck to move and no other company in the area had trucks available because it was such short notice.

I asked if despite my moving truck being ripped out from under me if I could still use the moving blankets and dolly I'd reserved as well and guess what I was told... that I can only use those if I rent a car or truck along with it. WTF!? I DID have a rental to go with those things and you lost it you idiots!!! This has completely ** with my moving day. I am telling everyone I know about this horrible experience and customer service, and given the poor reviews this location has online, I hope it gets shut down. UNBELIEVABLE.

The truck that I rented was not at the location I reserved. The inventory manager said my best bet was to take one from 50 miles away. This truck bounced all the way home. It didn't recover from the bouncing either. I wanted to return the truck but I was told I would have to pay the full rental price. Budget said my only option was to call roadside assistance. They would get me another truck and have it delivered and take the other one away. After 4 hours, I was told the only truck was another 45 miles away. The maintenance manager said I had to bring the truck I had, there to exchange the truck. It was a difficult drive on winding roads then I would have to get on 95. I did not think that was a good option as it would have taken me 3 hours to complete this transfer. I have to use this truck and hope I get there in one piece. The bottom line is don't rent a truck from Budget whatever you do.

I scheduled the truck rental from Enfield CT to Cornelius NC. Went to pick up the 26-foot truck on 8/16 at 5 p.m. as requested per the truck rental facility since they close at 5:30. The truck was not in the lot as of yet. The truck did not come back until after 5:45 p.m. The agent checked the mileage and made sure there was a full tank of gas. He also unloaded some equipment from the back and then handed my husband the keys and we were off. No maintenance was done on the truck at that time. As my husband was driving the truck down the street there was white and black smoke coming from it. We did not think that Budget would give us a bad truck since they knew we were doing a 800 mile trip. We packed the truck on 8/17 with the help of movers and started on our way on 8/18 at 12:11 p.m. We were on our way to what we thought would be a one-day trip.

We had just gotten beyond Waterbury, CT approx 1 hr away from home when the truck had a yellow triangle light go off advising engine service needed*. We pulled off the exit 17s and went to the closest gas station. We called the number on the budget truck and I was transferred to a Fleet Service Company which advised us it would be an hour from the time we called. They took very little information. 1.5 hours later I called back and they advised me the driver was looking for us on the highway even though I had told them we had gotten off an exit and pulled into a gas station.

Budget connected the phone three ways so I could give the mechanic the proper information. The mechanic showed up approximately 45 minutes after that. After looking at the vehicle he advised us he took care of the issue and reset the codes and we should be ok. We started on the way again and two exits later the light came back on and advised the same thing as noted above.

We have been in stop-and-go traffic and thought maybe it was overheating. (Yellow triangle with words stating engine service needed*) We decided to eat first to see if that helped. The light was still on after an hour. We then called the Fleet facility again and they advised us they would get the mechanic right back. I spoke with a supervisor there who advised me that the mechanic should be doing a "re-gen" on the truck. Another hour and a half later we still did not see anyone. I called back to confirm they had the right address since they weren't really listening previously. It was now getting dark and starting to rain. About an hour later the same mechanic as prior came back & checked the vehicle again. I explained that the company advised they should be doing a re-gen. He explained what it was and told my husband we could do it.

I thought that was odd because Budget told us he would do it. He advised we must be on a hard surface not near any grass because it could take approximately an hour and get very hot. He did not do it for us even though we were in a parking lot. My husband asked if it was safe to drive. He confirmed and stated as long as the red engine stop light does not come on we are good to go. He did advise something mechanical was done on it 2000 miles prior. The vehicle was still sounding rough and it was dark and raining so we had to take a hotel after driving an additional hour.

The next day we were on the road by 9 a.m.! We drove about 3 hours and stopped for lunch. Every time we started the engine a big puff of smoke would come out. We continued on about 2 hours when the RED engine light came on. We again pulled off an exit and I called Budget. I advise them exactly where we were in Virginia. EXIT 213A off of 81S. They advised due to the remote area it could take an hour and a half. After 2 hours waiting for the mechanic and with two very upset and scared children I called Budget again and spoke to Will. I asked him to get me on a three way call with the mechanics so I can advise where I am. He advised he is not allowed to do that and he would call me back.

About 20 minutes later I finally received the call. As Will began to tell me it was going to be a while I asked him for a manager and he connected me with Jim **. At this point I was very upset because I was advised it would be another hour before anybody could come. It was dark and we were on a rural road with nothing around us but at a bottom of an exit ramp. I asked Jim for his last name and he refused to give it to me. I explained to him I was very upset and had two children who were very upset and that they needed to call the tow truck company and find out when they will be here. He advised me there was some delay due to issues on the highway and the tow truck driver would be there in 30 minutes.

By this time it was dark out so I was very upset and the manager was rude. This caused me to cry and my daughter and son to have anxiety/panic attacks. The mechanic Gary called back and came. He was fantastic. He advised he was only called 10 minutes prior by the fleet company. Unfortunately he advised us we should never have driven this truck because service should have been done on it for the issue of the leaking oil a long time prior. There were 57 issues that he could see that have been "cleared" by prior mechanics. He advised us not to drive this vehicle any further except to get it to a truck stop down the road.

We had to get another hotel but because of it being the weekend of the eclipse and a big travel weekend for college students all the local hotels were booked. We had to go 30 minutes back north to Lexington Virginia. We ended up having to have the 26-foot Rental Truck towed from the Pilot truck stop in VA all the way to Cornelius, NC. That was four and a half hours away. There was damage done to my furniture due to the truck swinging back and forth. It was a horrible experience for my children and my family. I would recommend to stay away from Budget and also make sure to get any mechanical records reviewed prior to your long trip.

First off, moving is stressful enough. If it's moving across town or across the states, you have a lot to deal with and you do your best to do it in the most cost effective way possible. When comparing truck rentals for a move consisting over 1100 miles, I wanted something that I didn't have to sell my first born child to accomplish. With that said, I chose Budget Truck for this move. I liked the fact it was a flat rate and unlimited mileage. It was the best deal when comparing other rentals.

Picking up the truck was great. They tell you it's an easy ride, walk you around the truck to verify past scratches, dents, or any other issues from past rentals marking down on paper for you to show the drop off team when you arrive at your destination. They will ask if you are familiar with diesel fuel, if you are not then they will explain. They also tell you when dropping off you must fill the tank since you are leaving with a full tank, you arrive with a full tank or they will charge you for not filling. Fair enough right?

Before arriving to destination, I did just what they said. I filled the tank. I arrive at the drop off 3 minutes before closing (not intended but) and the worker was locking the door and said, "I'm closed. Come back tomorrow." OK nice customer service but whatever... Return the next morning hoping he had his coffee and doughnut to be a little more pleasant, I meet someone different and give him the keys and paperwork and he goes to check the truck. He comes back and said, "Everything looks good but you did not fill the tank." I respond, "Yes I did. I filled it and I have the receipt to prove it. The gauge says full." The employee states, "I can not see the gas in the tank and we do not go by the gauge..." I'm sorry what!!!

First off when picking up this truck, I was not shown the gas in the tank! Second are you kidding me really!! The employee then stated, "If you do not fill up we will charge you $30 for just taking the truck to a station and whatever the TOP OFF is." Well I refuse to do this and called corporate. Corporate states, "We have your back and will reimburse you of any charges." So in other words Budget, you don't mind that your centers charge your customers wrongfully but you "have our back."

Sorry Budget but that is a pathetic way to run a business and hope for positive feedback. Not only will I post on Facebook and other media, but have shared my story with so many. I hope others will read and find a better company that is proud of their company and the consumers who keep the consumers wanting to return, rather than a company that doesn't mind their consumers having to be upset, call corporate, to say you're getting screwed but we have your back!

I reserved a 26' truck. A big move this weekend, received a confirmation e-mail, and planned the whole move - hiring movers, getting friends to drive with me 233 miles to my storage unit, renting a new storage unit where I now live, etc. Today, just a few days before the move this weekend, I get a call from Budget HQ in Denver that the truck they've reserved for me has been downgraded to a 16' truck, totally inadequate for my needs. When I questioned why Budget could do this to me at such short notice, the agent smugly quoted part of the bottom of the confirmation email that said everything in this email (except for price) was simply a preference, including equipment (i.e., truck), pick up and drop off locations, pick up and drop off times, and pick up and drop off dates.

I asked to speak with a supervisor and he said he was one. When I asked how Budget could stay in business when they can pull the rug from under the feet of their customers like this, he just hung up. I then went online to cancel my reservation, as he didn't do it. Very, very shoddy company. Never renting a car again from them again either.

We had no choice but to proceed as the truck was full and we had to be back at work in 3 days. They transferred me to someone in another country (USA) who does not book trucks in Canada even though they knew I was from Canada.

Lady was quite rude and not helpful at all. She would not tell me how I get at least get a rough quote instead of wasting my time being transferred around to find someone to help me. I have to say Uhaul has a much more user friendly website that shows EXACTLY what you will be paying, the customer service is more knowledgeable and it's just easier to deal with them. Very disappointed, I've been told Budget is a better deal, but I suppose that's only if you can get ahold of someone who can actually help you. Would not recommend using them.

I am a Service Member with the US Armed Forces, and chose "Budget Truck Rental" to use for my PCS move. At the time of pick up, the dispatcher kept reminding and bringing to my attention "If my truck breaks down for mechanical reasons, don't call your insurance. Immediately call the 1-800 for roadside assistance". The dispatcher said this to me approximately 3 times, the third being right as I drove off. I didnt think anything of it until 7 hrs into my trip with a time of 1730 (5:30pm) 31JUL17, the 24' truck lost power in the freeway. I kept trying to accelerate but the truck was going 1MPH on a 70MPH Interstate. I pulled over safely to the side of the road and called roadside assistant, just like the dispatcher told me to do.

The roadside assistance provide me with the best service and assistance, I honestly give them "5 stars" for their performance. It took approximately 1 hour before a mechanic went to my location and diagnose the problem. When the mechanic arrived, he inspected the truck and concluded the transmission is broken. Also forgot to mention my alignment went to ** when I lost power, I had to keep the steering wheel at the 10 o'clock just to drive straight. The mechanic told me they are going to have to call back Budget to figure out the next plan of action. Roadside assistance called me back within 30min to tell me it's going to be a while, because they are coordinating to see if they are replacing the truck or towing me.

I waited for an additional 2 hours, and no phone call. So I call the 24-7, 1-800 number for Budget customer service and to my surprise they are close. Why are you going to print a customer service number on the pamphlet stating 24-7, and not be available 24-7? Moving on, roadside assistance called and gave me a 2 hour ETA for my tow. At approximately 0030 (12:30am) 1AUG17 the tow truck arrived, and tow me the rest of the way. I didn't arrive to my destination until 0200 (2:00am) 1AUG17.

Finally at approximately 1300 (1:00pm) 1AUG17, I called customer service, and after 30 min of waiting for someone to pick up I told them the whole story. Not once they apologize nor shown compassion to my situation. They couldn't answer my question, and they wanted me to be the liaison for everyone. They wanted me to call both dispatchers, roadside assistance, the towing company, and deal with them on my own. After being stranded for approximately 7 hours, you want me the customer to do your job of customer service to coordinate between departments? NO, that's your Job! I called customer service again, and this time I wanted to speak to a Manager, so I waited and additional 30 min, when the manager answered the phone he was very defensive. Why the hostility, you are supposed to provide courtesy regardless of how angry a customer may be, which I wasn't.

I just wanted to know why do I have to do all the leg work, and how am I going to be compensated or refunded. He then told me I must close my contract first before I can be "partially compensated" by returning the truck back. So I empty my truck with all my household goods, and close my contract. I called customer service so I can get compensated or refunded, and all they compensated was $80 credit back to my card out of a $1000 rental amount, this is unacceptable. Because of the breakdown, I was stranded with my family in an unsafe environment for 7 hours, pitch black, kids hungry and thirsty. I wasn't able to arrive on time to get the keys to my home, which cause me and my family to stay at a hotel at 2am, causing unexpected out of pocket expense, plus the additional hours I put in for temporary working for Budget as a liaison between departments, because apparently Customer Service can communicate with other departments.

In addition to the madness, I got of hold of someone in roadside assistance, and asked them if it's common for dispatchers to emphasize roadside assistance like how my dispatcher told me, they told "No, it is not common and lately this year we been having dispatchers sending broken Trucks out for rent." To finish this review, Budget can't send me a copy of the report, so I can show my employer; because apparently their systems aren't capable of emailing or sending any kind of verification. I guess I'll have to get back on the phone verify all security questions and then put the phone on speaker so my employer can hear and verify this happened to me. I will not be using this rental company for any services, nor recommend Budget to anyone to use. I will advise all service members getting ready to PCS not to go with Budget, you run the risk of breaking down.

I picked up the truck in Katy, TX and let them know at that time that the tire pressure sensor was on. They checked the tires and let me know that it was "just a sensor" and the light was going to remain on. I dropped the truck off at my house and went to work. That evening when I got home and met with the movers, I discovered I was charged for blankets that were not even there. I had to use my own stash which ended up really dirty by the time I arrived in Arkansas. I was barely out of Houston and the ABS check light came on. I now had TWO check engine lights on. As I was going up and down the hills of Lufkin and Nacogdoches, I realized that my ability to break well was compromised. I kept on, pumping the brakes hard as I needed. When the bugs became plentiful in the countryside, I searched frantically for the washer fluid so I could see out my windshield. Nothing. Another let down. This truck did not even have cruise control.

When I called customer service, they offered me 15% off and refunded me for the blankets I never received. I got a total of 74.00 back. WOW. Thanks guys. That did not even cover my gas. I'm grateful I arrived in one piece, even though my nerves were pretty frazzled as I kept worrying I was going to lose my brakes completely. I told them to NOT rent the truck again to anyone else, as it was unethical to rent that truck to anyone because of safety issues. With this ** company, I wouldn't be surprised if they did. My truck number was 401573 and if anyone rents that truck in the next week and ends up with a blown out tire or no brakes, here's your proof that I tried to help and prevent a future accident. So we went to Penske and rented from them even though it cost way more, they don't have a limited car list and neither does Uhaul. My husband argued with several people. They are all stubborn. That also applies to renting just the trailer or dolly, they won't let you unless you are renting their truck.

This is the second and last time I will purchase a truck or anything from this company. The first time I use this moving company was to move from New Mexico to my home state of Michigan. I was in the military, got out and started a new chapter in my life in New Mexico. Needed to get back home to my home state, my fiancé and I needed an inexpensive truck to move all our belongs to Michigan.

I rented a 16' truck with a car carrier because I had two cars. We had a blow out on the road because of some faulty equipment. The mud flap, which is made out of metal, had rolled into the tire and blew it out. We had to stay on the side of the road in Oklahoma for about 2 hours until a guy came to fix our tire. We also had to stay an extra night at a hotel. I had to call customer service about this issue and had to stay on hold for about 40 minutes until I finally got someone. He told me that he will transfer me over to a guy that will help me with the issue and then he hung up. I then had to wait an additional 40 minutes to finally get someone again. He told me he would give me the price for the car carrier back. Got that back, everything was ok. I did not ask for the hotel fee that I had to spend because of Budget's faulty equipment, I was just glad that I finally got to talk to somebody about this problem.

The next time I had to get a budget truck, it was to move closer to my new apartment. I just got a 16' truck. I reserved it 2 days in advance. I get to the place where I was supposed to pick it up and there is no available truck for me. The guy there tells me that there is a budget truck store nearby that I can get the truck from, about a 15-minute drive. In my head, I was thinking "here we go again" but I kept sane. We get to the new place and the guy told us that because we are getting this truck, it is “putting him in a bad spot” because we are getting this truck from him. We did the walk around and everything that I thought was noted on the discrepancy paper. We got the truck on a Friday and had to return it on a Sunday.

We finally get to our apartment and started unloading our belongs into the apartment, mind you that it is Friday when we started. My fiancé and I had a lot of stuff to unload so we figure that since it is only Friday, we would start unloading again that next day, Saturday. We started again Saturday and notice that all the things that was in the back of the truck was soaked. Our sofa was soaked and damaged and non-replaceable things was too (Pictures, military documents, treasured items, etc). It had rained overnight and there was a hole at the top of the truck. At this point, I am outraged and my fiancé ended up calling someone at customer service.

Once again, about an hour long wait time to finally talk to someone. The guy over the phone told her that we are sorry and will give you a full refund and that he will note it in his comments for the next person to look at. I paid almost 200 dollars for everything. We ended up dropping the truck back Saturday at around 6 or 7 pm. Mind you that we had until Sunday at 8:30 am to return the truck. We get there and called back to make sure everything is correct. We talked to a new guy over the phone about our refund. He told us that he had no record of a refund noted in the comments under my name! He then quickly put it down to his notes and told us to call back on Monday to process everything. My fiancé called back on Monday and this guy at customer service, once again, DID. NOT. HAVE. ANYTHING. NOTED. ABOUT. A. REFUND.

At this point, my fiancé and I are both mad and ask to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor, Steven, gets on the phone and we told him everything that has happened in the last few days. He told me that he is very sorry about our things being damaged and that he will offer us 15 dollars... FIFTEEN DOLLARS FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED?!? I then got on the phone and told us that the guy that we spoke to over the phone offered us a full refund. He told me that he does not see anything like that in his records. The most he said that he can give us is 15 dollars. I told him, "After putting us through all of this, we will take it" and he said, "Good."

Few days has passed and I check my credit card balance. They charged us a no show for returning a truck hours before it had to. I called customer service once again and the lady on the had told me “Wow, how could this have happened?” I told her “Your guess is as good as mine” She then told me, "No worries, the money will be back on my card within 5 to 7 business days." She told me "thanks for choosing Budget truck" and then I told her, "never again."

Poor Quality equipment and customer service - My daughter and her husband rented a truck and trailer to move from Pennsylvania to Kansas where he is stationed in the Army. They picked up the truck and when they got home the trailer lights were not working. They tried calling the 24/7 roadside assistance and got no answer! They sent an email and no response. Called where they picked it up. They were closed. So they lost a day because we could not load the truck! I finally got a hold of someone at 8:30 that evening. "You will receive a call shortly!" An hour goes by still no call, so I call again! "I'm sorry mam! I can't give you any information but they are working on finding a vendor." Someone finally calls me at 11:30 pm. He is at the truck. He says he fixed it for now!

I called where they picked it up asked to talk to a manager. She says she is name is Lisa. She is the one that gave them the truck and she says she checked the lights and they were fine. I asked them if she was there alone and they said yes. Unless she is Gumby and can press the brake pedal and see if they lights are working she is good. I told her they need to be compensated because they lost a day and the workers who were here to load the truck. Needless to say we loaded the truck, loaded the car on the trailer and lights didn't work! So my son and my daughter's husband had to go get a fuse and fix what the guy said he fixed. Now they are driving and it's raining and it's pouring in the truck! Sad that you pay all that money for crappy equipment and customer service. He needs to be back on base and basically has to drive straight thru in order to be back and unload. Never ever use Budget!

I reserved a truck for my move, actually I was looking online and a rep called me the next day and reserved my truck. Our reservation total (I have the email confirmation Budget sent to me) was a total of 100.20 for a 26' truck. When I received an email confirmation 3 days prior to my move, the rate increased by $82. I called and asked why, Budget could not tell me why, I asked them to honor my confirmation, they said they never sent this confirmation to me at this rate (I physically have this email). They said the dealer "may" be able to give me a discount, the dealer does not have this authorization. In the end their customer service is horrible and is not willing to honor their confirmations, they are scammers, and only stealing money from you. BEWARE. U-Haul never lied to me or stole my money.

I would just like to inform you that despite me reserving a Truck from July 6th to be used on July 14th, when I arrived at the location - was told the truck had an engine light on, so I could not get it... They did nothing to help me locate another truck at another Budget, despite the fact that I had only the one day to make this move from Ft. Lauderdale to Daytona Beach. With the help of my son, I was able to locate another Truck at another location, but when arrived there, despite the fact that I have Power of Attorney, they wouldn't accept my Mother's debit card, even though I had the original Notarized Power of Attorney for my 81 year old mother that I was re-locating and so I had to go get cash at the bank with a cash security deposit included.

Until today July 25th 2017, I HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED a refund of the cash, because the return location does not take nor handle cash. They say I have to get a check from Corporate. I have not yet received this well needed refund as I was 3 hours late starting our move, it cost me much more out of pocket because of the late start and was not able to return to Ft. Lauderdale until 2 am in the morning to care for my 81 year old mother. That is not a very good first impression of Budget and so I am of the opinion that I should have stayed with U-Haul despite the more money that this would have cost me. The reason for this note is not to threaten, but to inform, so that Budget can take necessary steps to improve their customer service. Incidentally, the truck tended to pull to the right as it seems to have been out of alignment.

I have had the worst experience with renting a truck from Budget. As per the agreement, the truck that we rented was returned to the proper location in Indianapolis, IN the morning of Sunday, 7/23/17. Location address: Drop Off BUDGET OF INDY KEYSTONE 4555 N. KEYSTONE AVE INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46205. We arrived at this location on Sunday morning, 7/23/17, well before the closing time listed on the website. When we arrived, we saw a note on the door stating that the location was closed. We left the truck with a full tank of gas in the lot at the N. Keystone location and placed the key in the drop box. Whenever I return rentals I am accustomed to having someone review the mileage, review the condition of the vehicle, confirm that the gas tank was full and provide me with a final bill.

Beginning yesterday afternoon, and continuing through this afternoon, I called the drop off location with nobody answering. I have been on the phone three times with customer service, and they too have had no luck in getting someone to answer the phone at the drop off location. It has been over 24 hours since we dropped off this vehicle, and I still do not have my final bill. I will never rent from Budget/Avis ever again.

Made a reservation on 7/19, for the end of the month. The guy asked what kind of move was it, (1 way or returning the truck back to him). I told him I was returning truck back to him. He asked me how many miles, I told him approximately 40 miles round trip. He asked for my credit card to hold the truck. I asked what time I could pick up the truck. All set, or so I thought. Today, I drove by the place to see where it is and get some kind of confirmation on paper, and when I went in they had no record of anything. They said I probably called the main headquarters and they just make lots of reservations for the same truck, so, I still had the number in my phone, I called it and their phone rang.

They said I must have spoken with some guy named Lou. They asked if I wanted to talk to him, I said yes, then they said come back tomorrow. They would not honor whatever Lou did. A woman named Cheryl said she could make a reservation but there's no guarantee they'll have a truck, huh? So, my wife and I, a 4, 6, and 8 year old are moving into our new home, and on moving day, we find out if we have a truck? Is this woman for real? I said I spoke to Lou, he made the reservation, took my credit card to hold the truck, and even told me what time to pick it up, and you will not honor his mistake. Cheryl basically said no, and kept saying that she could take my reservation but there would be no guarantee that they would have a truck?

I don't understand this logic, she said that nobody could guarantee I have a truck. I explained that I have moved many times and it was never a problem. She kept telling me to come back and talk to some guy named Lou. I told her I don't have time to come back and talk to Lou, and that they should honor whatever one of their employees promised. I feel this company is not reputable and ultimately Budget truck rental, with so many options today, I don't understand how these business practices even exist today. It really is a shame.

I rented a truck and tow dolly to move across the country. I put my personal vehicle info into the forms provided and nothing had warnings that a low profile vehicle wouldn't fit on the tow dolly. I picked the truck and dolly up and the attendant didn't say a word about how to get my vehicle on the dolly or if my vehicle would fit on the dolly. The left mirror was taped due to previous damage. The attendant was rushing to get me to sign the agreement before I had even looked everything over.

Took the truck and dolly, loaded the truck and then attempted to place my vehicle on the dolly... ended up damaging my front bumper because the dolly was only made for SUVs. A regular sized sedan wouldn't have been able to fit on this thing. Drive across the country with my wife driving my vehicle behind the truck. Call customer support and finally, after 2 hours of speaking with someone who doesn't even speak English, I get a refund on the dolly. This was only possible because I called the place where I picked it up and spoke with the manager who advised it was their fault for not making sure my vehicle would fit on the dolly. Long story short, spend a little extra money and go with a different rental company!

I am someone who moves a lot. In fact, I have moved nine times in ten years, and often long distances. Therefore, I have a lot of experience renting moving trucks and hiring movers. I had never before reserved a moving truck with Budget. On May 26, 2017, I reserved a 24-foot moving truck through Budget’s website. I received an email confirmation upon purchasing the truck rental, so I secured movers on both ends of my trip - a move from Illinois to Pennsylvania - and made all the consecutive travel arrangements.

I am a very organized person and therefore called the rental truck location of my scheduled pickup three days before the reservation (June 27, 2017). I asked the gentleman to please confirm that a 24-foot truck would be ready for my scheduled 9:00 am pickup on June 30, 2017. After a lengthy wait, he informed me that there would be no 24-foot trucks, nor anything comparable in size, available in all of Bloomington, IL – nor its surrounding areas – on the day of my pickup. He advised me to pursue a moving truck rental with another company. Now, one does not need to be a genius to see the major issue at hand here. I had placed a reservation over a month in advance, took it upon myself to confirm the reservation a few days before, and was being suddenly blindsided because of horrifying business practice. So, of course, I called Budget’s customer service.

The first guy I spoke to (who was clearly inexperienced) listened to my complaint, and then informed me that there was nothing he could do. He also confirmed that there would be no 24-foot trucks available in my area on the day of my move. Understandably livid, I demanded to speak with his supervisor. This young agent told me that I would need to “wait for a callback within two to four hours.” Are you kidding me?

So suddenly, here I am: trying to check things off my well-planned list, only to be told I cannot move my belongings on the last day of my apartment rental. And I cannot get through to a manager? I lost my mind at this twerp. The manager called me back within 20 minutes. Upon my answering the phone and this Budget manager introducing himself, he had the audacity to say to me, “Kathryn, I wanted to give you a call with some news in order to give you some extra time to make new plans.” I cut him off and said, “I actually called you guys; you did not call me. I called to confirm the truck rental that I have had for over a month. So do not mince words and pretend that you’ve done anything for me.” The conversation that ensued was absolutely fruitless.

This manager told me that Budget has been having numerous issues with their truck fleet, and that they are doing everything they can to fix the issues with the trucks. He apologized to me, yet offered nothing to absolve the issue at hand. After listening to this man lay the pity on thick, I asked him what he intended to do for me: how was he going to resolve my issue and get me a moving truck? Isn’t that why I paid and reserved the thing to begin with? Well, after an awkward lengthy silence, he said, “I can apologize?” As though it were a question. Unbelievable. One of their customer’s entire move was being turned on its head, causing an inevitably massive and costly domino effect, because of Budget’s mistakes.

The domino effect that took place after this phone call was one of the most harrowing processes I’ve ever had to deal with. With my move occurring in the middle of the summer at the end of June, there were very few trucks available. The only close one I could find was a 20-foot truck with U-Haul. The customer service agent at U-Haul did everything in his power to help me and get me what I needed. But with the smaller cargo space, I actually had to leave belongings and furniture behind in Illinois; hundreds of dollars gone because Budget Truck Rental completely screwed me over.

Now, I am sure I am not the first customer this has happened to. In fact, when I picked up the U-Haul truck, the agent told me that he’d been seeing countless Budget customers that week. So let me be clear. This type of business practice and customer “service” on the part of Budget Truck Rental is abhorrent. They should not be in business at all if this is their way of conducting business and treating customers. Moving is an extremely stressful process for many; those going through it should never have the rug pulled out from under their feet by a truck company.

Shame on you, Budget Truck Rental. You will never have my service again. I have already told many I know about my experience to protect them from having to experience the same infuriating process as me, and will continue to do so. I lost hundreds of dollars in belongings and in having to make a last-minute reservation. To the customer service agent who said, “All I can offer is an apology?” No, you can offer to pay me what I lost.

Because of Budget Truck Rental's issues within their own company, I (the consumer) was punished. At the end of my move, I had lost money from leaving belongings and furniture behind, from the last-minute truck rental through U-Haul, and from broken belongings (which occurred from having to cram them onto a smaller truck). I strongly feel that I should be compensated from Budget Truck Rental for this as well as the inconvenience and stress it caused me a few days before my move. Compensation is the least that a company can do for customers like me who are quite literally unable to move due to the company’s unethical and unprofessional business manner. If other truck rental companies have figured it out, so can Budget.

Should have just gone to U-Haul or Penske to begin with, Both of them found me trucks within an hour and had it delivered to my location. This would not have been so bad but the sales rep behind the counter could have cared less, whereas U-Haul got on-line and found a truck before I even asked. Now that's customer service.

I needed to move my elderly parents, 84 yrs and 80 yrs, from Northern California to Southern California on 6/28/2017. I compared UHaul and Budget and went with Budget 16' since it was slightly cheaper at $378 for 3 days and 480 miles. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE! Basically, when you make a "reservation" with Budget Trucks, it means nothing. For other companies, when you make a car rental reservation, they save that car for you. Can you imagine reserving a hotel room and show up the day of and find that there is no room "reserved" for you? Or making a reservation at a restaurant to celebrate and show up and there's no table for you? BUDGET DOESN'T RESERVE A TRUCK FOR YOU BASED ON YOUR RESERVATION. Their call center is making all the truck reservations with very attractive prices, but they do not link those reservations to a vehicle. What a terrible way to run a business! They ruin people's lives with no regards to consequences.

When I showed up on 6/26 to pick up the truck, they didn't have a 16' available, but the on-site agent said that he was expecting four to arrive the next day 6/27, he did have some 12' though, but I didn't take it because I needed more cargo space. The next day I called and he said the four 16' trucks didn't arrive and he only had one 12' truck. I asked him to save that for me while I drive there to pick it up. When I called back, he said that he got yelled at by his manager for "promising" this 12' truck to me and he had to give it up. WHAT?

Here I am, trying to move my elderly parents who were already extremely stressed out about the move and now I wasn't going to get the truck that I reserved two weeks prior? The agent at this San Jose, CA location said that he had to cancel 500+ reservations the previous Friday. 500+? Are you kidding me? Budget made that many reservations and didn't have any trucks for them. What a scam! What unethical and thoughtless business practices!

I had to scramble around, calling UHaul (not available), moving companies (over $1000+), and finally found a truck with Penske (which, by the way, I highly recommend!). I wished I had read reviews about Budget Truck rental prior to this whole experience. What they do is ruin people's lives and they should be ashamed of themselves. DO NOT EVER RENT FROM BUDGET TRUCK RENTAL! They entice you with a lower rental price, but they have no trucks to fulfill those reservations. Moving is already so stressful, the last you need to worry about is trying to find a moving truck at the last minute.

Mind you, our utilities are getting shut off today, and the realtor is supposed to be in here to take pictures of an empty house this afternoon!

So, we get a second call about an hour later and they're like "how far are you willing to drive?" Well, considering I already had to go over 2 cities to pick up this truck, not that far! These trucks eat gas, so driving tons of extra miles isn't cost effective! They say we can either wait 2 days for a truck or drive 2 hours away (one way!) to pick one up! That's not even close to reasonable! And, there was no extra discount or free days on the truck for having to go that far to get it!

I placed a rental request from your company for May 27, 2017 for a 24' moving truck. We went to the Lawrence, KS store at 8 am to pickup our truck and the employee, Zack told us that we were lucky to have a truck that day. He told us that he had several reservations that day that didn't have trucks available and it was going to be a bad day. He started our paperwork and then told us that our truck was not going to be available and that we were out of luck and "that's just the way it goes". I, of course, was very upset. He told me that the only thing he could do was offer me a 16' truck. I was extremely disappointed, but we would make it work. He continued my paperwork and then told me I wasn't allowed to have that truck because it belonged to someone else/he didn't know where the keys were. He could offer me one 12' truck.

I was appalled at that point and couldn't believe my ears. He was so incredibly blasé about it and could not care less. I was sitting there with my three small children, my husband and another couple in my same situation. I asked if it were possible to get two 12' trucks. He told me over and over that that wasn't a possibility. I asked him to call his manager (Drew **) and Drew answered once and then stopped answering his phone. He called another manager, Avery, in Kansas City and he swore to me that nothing could be done and this was a simple case of overbooking. We received no notice of the overbooking and never had a chance to go with another provider. During the three and a half hours I was stuck at your location with nothing being done, I was threatened to have the cops called on me and remove me from the building - in front of my five, three and 8-month old children.

FINALLY, Zack told me I could have two trucks if I would leave. I agreed to rent another truck and that I could call customer service upon return of the truck and have the charges dropped from my rental. We had a four bedroom house and several large items to move with these two tiny trucks with no ramp. It was seriously difficult to say the least. I called the customer service number on my way to return the trucks (after refueling them) and was told they could do nothing. Talk about being furious. I couldn't believe my ears. Here is what I have been charged so far:: 12' truck rental - $150, 12' truck rental - $150, fuel from taking multiple trips back and forth - $184.47, two random charges taken out two and a half weeks later - $340.82 & $163.79. This truck rental has cost me (so far) - $989.08. This is robbery. Money is being withdrawn from my account with no explanation.

Let me start by saying from pickup to drop off it was a HORRIBLE experience. I arrived to pick up my truck and carport and to my surprise, the carport was broken. I had to wait an entire day for a different one because they didn't have another one available. This was a MAJOR problem being that I was moving out of state and was on a time crunch. I had to wait an extra day before I could even leave, very inconvenient. While on the road maybe 5 hours out from my destination the carport broke off the truck. I had to call the police and they called a local tow company that assisted me with safely getting me and my children off the road safely. Meanwhile, my children and I sat in the truck for over 6 hours waiting for the carport to be fixed. Once it was finally fixed we got back on the road.

When it was time to drop off the truck I went to the drop off location only to get there and couldn't get my truck off the carport because the Budget guy rigged the truck to stay on the carport. The guy who worked wouldn't offer any assistance to take the car off the carport. I called the headquarters and they told me it would be over an hour before they could send assistance. After being outside for about 20-30 minutes the guy who works there comes out and he couldn't even get it off the carport. He had to use chain cutters to get my car off the carport. Then just recently I was charged by Budget AGAIN for a toll road fee. I called to find out why and the representative stated that I was in Rosemont, Illinois going through a toll there on May 2. Which is insane because I was in Virginia May 2 paying a toll there. And this resulted as a result of them changing my carport last minute. I WILL NEVER IN LIFE USE THEIR SERVICES AGAIN! EVER!!! Horrible business!!

I rented a 20 foot truck for a one-way move from Louisiana to Tennessee. I picked up my truck in Mandeville, LA (Causeway location). To begin with, the person manning the store wasn't even there when I arrived. Although there was a sign on the door saying they would return in 15 minutes, it was more like 40. I wasn't greeted or welcomed, simply just asked, "Do you have a truck reservation? Which one?" At this point, he informs me that he had another truck ready but, since someone just dropped off another one, he was just going to give me that truck.

He spends 40 minutes entering information into the system. During the process, he asks me if I would like insurance, which I decline. At this point, he simply gets up from his desk, opens a drawer, pulls out a form, and slaps it in front of me. Without an explanation, he goes back to his computer to continue entering information. The form was an insurance waiver form which required proof of insurance for certain coverages, which I don't have with me because I'm not aware that I needed them. So, of course, I have no choice but to purchase coverage. All during this time, the man does not speak to me or the people with me. I felt both scammed and frustrated by his very obvious lack service.

He then takes us to the truck. As he mentioned, it was just dropped off, which is evident because it HAS NOT BEEN cleaned! And it smells terrible. He tries, at this point, to be friendly but, honestly, it's just too late. By this time, its been over an hour. I take the truck because I do not have another 45 minutes to spend getting another truck. He does tell me to leave the key and paperwork in the truck and to lock the doors when I drop it off.

When I arrive in Nashville, I discover that the box truck is leaking. I drop off the truck at the designated location (B and C Rental, off Donelson), leaving the items where the man told me. It's Sunday, so no one is at the location. On Monday, at 12:50pm, I get a nasty vmail from the woman at the drop off location stating: "You didn't leave the keys or the paperwork in the key drop. You're going to have to come here today and bring that in." I try calling back NINE times. No one answers. And there isn't a vmail option.

I call customer service to see if they can help: they tell me all I can do is keep trying the location number and that I should be aware that they probably closed at 1pm since it was Memorial Day. When I ask if there is someone I can speak with concerning the overall customer service of this venture, the guy HANGS UP ON ME.

I finally get ahold of the lady at the drop off location; I tell her that I left the key where the guy told me. She says it should have been in the key box and that she will have to charge me for a locksmith. (Ok. My bad.I should have checked the paperwork, and not just assumed what he said was accurate.) I tell her I've been trying to call, to which she says, "Yeah, I heard the phone but I was in the back. And we closed early." I agree to pay the fee and ask her to please call her before running my card with the charges. Three hours later, I get another nasty vmail, stating the fee but that my card was declined. The call ends with her slamming down the phone. (This is why I asked her to call ahead; I have a security feature on my card that I knew would cause it to decline.)

With all due respect, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. It would be one thing if it was just one person at one location, but it was every person I dealt with at Budget. Absolutely terrible. I went with Budget because the prices were a bit more competitive but I'm not sure I will ever use Budget again after this. I have worked with both Penske and Uhaul in the past and never had an experience even close to this.

As someone who works with the public in the service industry, I can hardly believe that such a thing could happen. If I treated my customers this way, I'd be fired or out of business. I'm not really sure what else to say, other than I hope you value your customers enough to at least take this seriously. It truly was one of the most terrible customer service encounters I've ever had.

And it was memorial weekend so no other company had trucks available for one way destination, call their customer service and a supervisor responded to my call within an hour to tell me that they overbooked their trucks and I needed to figure out how to move my son on my own! If this the kind of service they provide I will never again be impressed by their rates because I got stuck!!! Be aware if you rent from them. Have a backup plan. I did not!!

We had a reservation for a truck rental for over 2 weeks and at 5pm the night before I am to drive 7 hours, 2 days of work taken off, people to help me move have taken off Budget rental calls to tell me they don't have my truck. I have spent hours speaking to several non-English speaking individuals. They tell me someone will call me within 15 min to 2 hours to let me know if they can find me a truck. 2 hours later and another non-English speaking nonhelpful customer service agent (I use that term very lightly due to me getting absolutely no service) they tell me I can call the rental pick up store that has my reservation in the morning.

So I am suppose to leave my home in MS at 3am (7 hours from now) to travel to IN (7 hrs away) to probably not have a truck when I get there, and hope that by the time they open and I speak to the idiots who didn't have the truck to begin with and see if they have my truck. Totally insane way to operate!!! I have never been so disgusted in my life for the way we have been treated and not having any consideration as to the trouble this has caused! I have hotel rooms that are nonrefundable so I am out money I do not have!!! Horrible company!!! I would totally be ashamed to say I worked there! Answers the question as to why there are no English speaking so called customer service!!!

Budget Cancels Reservations without notice - On 5/10/17 I reserved a truck online to move starting 5/25/17 for two days to pick up on Watson Rd. in St. Louis Res # **. I went to check it on the Reservation late last week to find out they moved the reservation and doubled the price. I called and spoke to Jessica (Employee # **. She was great.). We got the reservation taken care of and they resent me a new reservation.

This morning at 12:50 am I get a email that my move is almost here, that I should not forgot to pack and move. At 9:21 and 9:23 am I get two cancellations emails from Budget that my truck has been cancelled. I called and spoke to Ryan at the Hazelwood office in St. Louis. He apologized but said they just got notice today that Budget is cancelling a lot of reservation. And gave me the Customer service number. I called Customer Service. Spoke to Fernada (?) who put me on hold for Customer Service.

Richard then answered the phone. Said he could do nothing to help. I informed Richard I would like to talk to his Manager as it was unacceptable that no truck was available and that NO contact either time was ever made to me about any changes or cancellations. (Although they said they reached out to customers when they cancel.) Richard put me on hold and I had to leave a message for Michelle **. I am still waiting for a call back.

What I don't understand... Is that today is Tuesday. You are telling me that no place in St. Louis or the surrounding area has any size truck available even if it's only for one day. I bet you I could drive around and find a trucks just sitting. This is the way Budget treats customers... I can't believe how low they have sunk. Way back in the days I use to rent Ryder, Budget and Penske trucks. I prided my self on NOT having no trucks situations for my customers. That was always U-Haul that let people down... Can you imagine... I am now going to U-HAUL to rent a truck... Because they are the ones that will honor a reservation. Renters beware... If you are moving on a holiday weekend... Your reservation will be cancelled if you are calling Budget... They have no care in the world about overbooking... And screwing you in the long run.

I am not one to write online reviews, but my experience with Budget recently was so abysmal I felt compelled to put something out there for others to consider. Upon seeing some other post their comments, I wish I would have done my due diligence on this company prior to booking my reservation. Shame on me for not doing my usual research.

A few weeks ago we were moving our family from our old house to our new house. I used one of the coupons the post office sends when you change addresses to book our reservation for a 26' truck (moving a 4 bedroom house). Even before the discount, the price was great; with the coupon, price was unbeatable. Well...sometimes you get what you pay (or about to pay) for when settling for the cheapest. My reservation was scheduled for 9:30 AM on a Saturday. I received not 1, but 2 emails from Budget within days of my scheduled pick up confirming that my truck was ready and my reservation confirmed. Ok, all systems go.

Then, the Friday night before I was to pick up the truck, I received a call from the KoP office at about 4 minutes before they closed that my truck was not available and to call Customer Service to find another truck. Once I received the VM, I immediately called the KoP office within 5 minutes only to get an office closed message. I called the national customer service and spoke with someone who told me that there was no 26' truck available within a 25 mile area, but a 14' or 16' truck. I tentatively confirmed the 16' truck would work, but was not happy knowing such a small truck would require more miles to move my home. The Customer Service Rep said someone would call within 2 hours (mind you, this is now 8:30 and I was going to be trying to get some early shut eye before my big move). No call received...At that point I went to U-Haul's website and easily found a 26' truck available the next morning at 9:30 within 3 miles of my home.

I called U-Haul the next morning, everything ready to go. Perfect. I then get a call from Budget confirming they had a 24' truck FOURTEEN miles away!!! I did not even bother calling back at that point, but the best is they had the audacity to email me a reservation confirmed notice for this truck. Why the hell would they expect me to go a total of 28 miles+ out of my way to get a truck is beyond me. So, Budget, cheap, unreliable, awful customer service.

Point of this story, I typically always used U-Haul. This one time I decided to try Budget and save a couple bucks, all I got was more grey hair and a lot of frustration. Never again. I understand not having a truck available, but waiting until 2 minutes until midnight (figure of speech) to call and inform me that they don't have the truck they confirmed not once, but twice, was ready for pick up on moving day, is an absolute joke. If anyone is to ask me should they use this company, my suggestion: Run, don't walk, away from doing business with them.

Like MANY people, I had a HORRIBLE experience with Budget Trucks. I rented a truck, even got a confirmation email 2 days prior to pick up stating that the truck was ready. However, the day prior to pick up - after 2 pm, I receive a call from Budget telling me that the truck I rented won't be available. The representative's only answer was to speak to Budget customer service. When I called them up, I was told that they would "escalate" this and have someone call me within 15 minutes to 2 hours. I called back 10 minutes prior to 2 hours and the rep said he couldn't do anything because 2 hours hasn't been reached.

At 2 hrs and 1 minute, I called back and was told that I would be "escalated" again. I called back the 3rd time and the lady said she would look into this right away. Nothing happened...absolutely nothing. Ended up using U-Haul. Thank god for the internet. The tides are turning in favor of the consumers. Was I livid, hell yes. Would I use them again. NEVER. If it was worth time my time, I would sue Budget for a breach of contract. As an attorney, I am positive I would win, but I am sure Budget is banking on the fact it isn't that important for most consumers. It probably isn't, but trust me I am going to tell ANYONE and EVERYONE that will listen about my experience.

I recently rented a Budget rental truck from you. It was a good experience until I showed up to pick the truck up. I rented a 20' truck but was given a 26' truck and was forced to pay the extra fee for it. They told me that they only had 16' trucks and couldn't get a 20' truck but were able to get a 26' truck so I had to pay for extra insurance because my insurance company wouldn't cover the 26' foot truck but my insurance would cover a 20' truck. I was not told that I had to purchase exhaust fluid for the truck. I was told to fill it every 50 miles. I purchased enough to cover the miles I traveled but after purchasing the additive for the exhaust fluid it turned out that I didn't need it. I was told at the time of pickup of the vehicle that I could drop the truck off any time prior to closing on Saturday without penalty. When I arrived at the rental place it was closed or no one was there.

I was also told that there was a Pilot gas station north of the rental store but when I traveled north there was not a Pilot gas station for miles. I drove around for nearly an hour before I realized that the gas station that had diesel was not a Pilot gas station at all. When I returned to the rental place to drop off the truck, no one was there so I dropped the keys in the door drop area and left. I was billed for 3 full days instead of 2 days for a truck I didn't want, insurance I didn't originally need, packing blankets for an extra day and extra exhaust fluid I didn't need because I was told that I need to add it every 50 miles. I called customer service and he told me to call the local store and tell them about the extra cost I was billed for.

That is the biggest bunch of crap I have ever heard. I was WAY overcharged a full day for a truck I didn't reserve. Now when I call customer service I am told to call the main store to complain. What kind of customer service is that??? I expect a refund for one full day for my troubles. I cannot believe you would allow such poor and disrespectful customer service from your employees.

My experience with Budget Truck Rental was one of the worst experiences of my life. I was misled and lied to throughout the entire process and ultimately charged more money than I agreed to. That said, the specifics of this situation start on April 28th at 10am. On April 28th, I was called by one of the Budget employees that work at the 5911 Blair Road office. The gentleman told me that they did not currently have a truck, and that he would call me back by 1 pm if they received a truck. I never received a call. So, at approximately 3:30 I called to see if there had been any progress on the rental. Now, I was told that I should call customer service so that I could be compensated.

After I hung up with the 5911 Blair Road office, I call the Budget customer service line. After about 30 or so minutes of waiting and transfers, I was told that my situation had been escalated, and would be sent to a Logistics Manager. I was also told that I had to wait a full 2 hours before I call customer service back. At this point, I googled the local Budget office's hours of operation. I was surprised to see that most of the stores closed at 6 pm EST.

So, I called customer service back to let them know that I had not received a callback from a logistics manager. When the customer service rep opened my account to see what had been documented; the rep told me that a full 2 hours had not yet passed and there was nothing that they could do before the time had passed. After the rep made that statement, I told them that the stores would be closed by the time the 2 hours had passed. The rep then told me that the logistics manager would follow up with me before the time was up. The call from the logistics manager never came.

So, at about 6:30 pm on April 28th I called Budget customer service back. They then told me that they would escalate my case and a manager who would call me back. By this time, I was frustrated because I had now wasted a full day waiting to get a rental that I never received, and no had no chance to receive that day. So, I told the rep I want to come to a solution now! They said, "Ok, I will look for a rental for you". After about 10 minutes and the rep had not found a rental, I asked what my options were, because they had already made me a day late getting my truck, and there was not going to be much available at other companies either.

I was then told by the rep that if I could find a rental that Budget would pay up to 150 dollars over the price that I was quoted. So, I clarified, I asked, "If I have a 350$ rental with Budget, you will give me 500$ to put towards a rental at a different company?" The rep then replied, "Yes", she then followed up to tell me that if I could find a truck from Budget, the trip would be comped. So, I started by looking for rentals from other companies, and was not able to find anything. At this point, I decided to look on the Budget site. When I searched for the same size truck that I had already reserved for the 28th of April, there was nothing available. That said, the website then gave me an option to rent a larger truck. So, because that was the only truck available in the DMV (D.C. Maryland, Virginia) area, I quickly reserved it for 9 am.

The next day (April 29th), I woke up early and called the Budget office to see when I could pick up the truck and they said they were open at 8 am and, I could pick the truck up as soon as I got there. I then went to the Budget rental site that was substantially further away from my house than that initial reservation by Uber. When I got to the site, the store was filled with disgruntled customers who reserved trucks much larger than the trucks that they received. When I got up to the front of the line I was told that Budget does not make it well known that when you make a reservation you are only locking in a price that does not guarantee that you will actually get a truck (which is not made known on the site).

So, I got the truck and immediately called customer service to let them know about all the trouble that I had gone through. I also made it clear that I felt that I should not be charged for a truck that was 3 times the initial price that I was quoted, 3 times the distance from my home, and would require at least 3 times as much fuel. I also told the rep that I did not want to keep the rental if I was not going to be comped for my extra expenses and the truck itself. She assured me that I would not be charged for the rental or the gas, and I would be compensated for my added trouble commuting to the rental site. So, I asked, "Can I have the charges removed from my account now?" She told me that she could not remove the charges now, but when I returned the truck they would be taken off my account. So, I asked again for clarification, say, "So this rental will be free", and she replied, "Yes".

I then went on to say, "I don't want this rental if I have to pay for it after I have been inconvenienced the way that I have been." The rep then told me not to worry, because when I turn the rental in, I would be compensated for all the charges that I had incurred. So, I asked her to document these promise in on my account, so that there would be not confusion. She told me that she did. So, I asked for clarification once again saying, "You documented that I will be compensated for the rental and all extra expense incurred", and she said, "Yes". So, I drove the truck to my destination (Columbus, Ohio). When I turned the truck in on Tuesday May 2, 2017 I had a bad feeling about the entire situation.

So, on Wednesday morning May 3rd around 10 am, I called customer service to make sure that the promises I had been made would be acknowledged and honored and I would be compensated/refunded the money I was charged and my Uber fees. When I finally got through to a customer service rep after 20 or so minutes of waiting and gave my reservation information, I was horrified to be told that there were no notes about a full refund. I was also told that they (Budget) don't even do refunds and she was not sure why I was told that. She went on to ask me if I knew the rep that told me that my reservation would be comped by their name and employee id? I told her no. I also told her that I did not even know that I could ask for that type of information. She went on to tell me that I she should not have told me that the reservation should be comped (acknowledging that I was made this promise), because it can't be.

At this point I was running late for a meeting and asked if she could call me back. The rep told me that they could not make outbound calls, but I could call back. So, I called back around 12:30 pm. After waiting about 25 minutes or so to speak to a rep, I was told once again that I could not be refunded my money, but they would put me in contact with a manager. Would call me back in 1-2 hours. I never received that call. So, I called back at about 4:00 pm and was on hold for approximately 1 hour before I spoke to customer service rep. The rep's name is **, and after she listen to my story, she told me that she would transfer me to a manager. She put me on hold and then after a 5-min of waiting she told me that she would have a manager call me back in 1-2 hours. I immediately told her "NO, I have been told that at every step of the trip and have never received a callback."

She went on to tell me that there was nothing she could do to help me. So, I asked how she felt that she could hang up with me when she had not solved any of my issues. She told me that that were other customers that she could be talking to that she could actually help. So, I asked her, "Are they more important than me?" She told me that I could take it that way if I wanted to. So, I asked her what her name and employee id number was and she told me, "**". I then told her that I was not hanging up until she connected me with a manager. So, we waited for another 10-15 minutes before she connected me with a manager named **.

** was one of the rudest, most condescending people that I have ever dealt with. That said, I told ** that I had been severely inconvenience and was told that my rental would be comped by a Budget customer service representative, but I was still charged. She went on to say, "We don't give free rentals, that's not how we do business". So, I replied, "I understand that is not how business works, but I made it clear to a Budget customer service rep before I left the lot, that I did not want to take the rental if I was going to be charged, and I was assured that I would not be". ** went on to tell me that she was sorry that I was told that, but they don't do that. She also told me that she would talk to the rep that told me the reservation would be comped, because she should not say that (once again admitting I was made this promise).

So, I told ** that because I was told that the rental would be free, and I also made it clear to a Budget employee that I would take the rental back if was going to be charged then, the rental should be free. She said, "I can't comp the rental, all I can do is give you the price you were initially quoted and refund you for your rental." I then told her, "No, I need to be compensated for the rental and gas, because I was promised I would be". ** went on to just say abruptly, "No, we don't do that, and you should not have been told that". (Once again admitting that I had been led to believe something that turned out not be true.) I once again told her what I was promised and told would documented and that Budget should honor their promises. I also said that I made it clear would take the rental back if I was going to be charged.

I also told ** that it was fraud to tell me something, then wait till I am charged and then tell me that what I was told was not true. She said, "I don't care what you were told, we don't do that". She went on to ask me, "Do I want to have the rental price matched or not?" The conversation went on for about 20 minutes repeating the same thing. I told her I was promised something and she told me she did not care and would not do it. So, I asked to speak to her manager, and she told me that she was as high as it goes, and I should take what she was offering because I she was going to hang up. I told that it was fraud, and she told me, "I would have to take that up with my bank". So, I asked for her name and she said, "**". I then asked for her last name and she said, "**". So, I asked again, "What is your last name" and she said, "**".

I then asked her if she could give me the name of the person that told me that my rental would be free, but did not document what she had said. ** told no, because that was not her information to share. So, I asked how it was ok for her to acknowledge that I was lied to by an employee at Budget, but would be not be able to share the name of the person with me so I could report her to the proper authorities? ** then angrily told me that the rep's name was not her information to share.

At this point, ** was all but yelling that she would match the initial price quote, and would give me an email address to send my receipt to for my Uber charges. As she continued to aggressively tell me what the email address was, I continued to ask her how it was ok to take my right to choose, by telling me a rental was free to bait me in and then switch the story when the charges come? At this point she was still yelling the email address to me as I was speaking (talking over me), and when I finally wrote it down and repeated the email back her, but still had questions, she hung up.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I was lied to, misled, then stolen from, and then told I should have not taken the truck to start with. I can't believe that I am being charge over 1000$ for a rental I would have taken back and told the rep I would, and was told I should not worry because the truck would be free. I bought a car from Budget, rented my previous moving truck from Budget, and to be screwed over by them in this way is upsetting, dishonest, and fraudulent.

On Friday we got rain- sure enough the Budget truck leaked over a bunch of our stuff! I called this morning to tell them about the issues we had since we dropped off after hours and they basically told me, "Who cares, you didn't put the gas back to where it should have been. There is a $30 charge for that." And just kept transferring me into oblivion where no one could help me. I then checked my bank account to see that they had deducted more than DOUBLE of the agreed-upon amount for the rental. I had hired actual movers to do the heavy lifting for me on both ends so I was relying on that truck being reserved for me on that date and time. I received an email verifying the date and time and even got a call from the Germantown location verifying the reservation. I made arrangement to pickup the keys early and was ready to go. The day before the move I received a call stating that they wouldn't have a truck available for me nor would they have a smaller or larger truck available. They wouldn't be able to give me 2 smaller trucks either. I was told to call customer service.

When I asked why they had overbooked they said they had over 10 trucks overbooked and it wasn't their fault. The woman was rude and obviously wanted to get me off the phone. I called customer service and received a call back from the district manager. They didn't have any trucks available in 200 miles for me! Their suggestion? Call Hertz or U-Haul. I asked what I was supposed to do about the fact that they had potentially just cost me over $1000 in cancellation fees. He said "nothing... absolutely nothing." I will never recommend Budget to anyone or even glance in their direction again. Please also note: right after they cancelled my reservation, they contacted me with an email asking me to re-book. They said they noticed I cancelled my reservation and asked if I needed help rescheduling. I am beyond words.

They told me to contact customer service, which I did and was told they would call me within 2 hours. They did call 30 minutes later to tell me the closest truck I could get would be an additional 2 hour drive to get to.

I asked the customer service rep what the point in reserving a truck if I couldn't have one and he told me it was to lock in the price. The price to rent nothing? He told me I should have read the small print which says a truck may not be available. Well I agree. I should have read the fine print to realize I should have never reserved a truck with them which ultimately left me stranded in Houston. Fortunately, Uhaul saved my moving day by finding me a truck. The down side was $100 more than if I would have reserved one through Uhaul originally. It was a pricey lesson for me, but will only rent through Uhaul or Enterprise in the future.

Having an unknown of when a truck would be available was not acceptable. We will never rent from Budget again!

Rented a truck to move from Denver, CO to NJ. Check engine light came on 1 hour outside of Denver. We were given a method of "clearing" it. The truck was going across the country and we were unable to maintain a speed of 45 MPH. There was no license plate on the truck and the toll pass didn't work. What a nightmare of travel. Instead of taking 2 days, it took 4 to get across the country. There was no customer service other than "if you want you can unload the truck and we'll give you another one at no charge" somewhere in the middle of the country. Why would I unload the whole truck with no way of getting any guarantee the new one would be any better? How do they put a truck on the road that has no license plate and no power to the transmission? Customer service was terrible, truck was a ridiculous joke. Never again Budget - never.

NEVER AGAIN!!! I should have learned from a prior experience that no great rate is worth the hassle/aggravation/poor customer service Budget Truck Rentals never fails to deliver. I reserved a 12 ft. truck and was notified four hours before I was due to pick it up that the truck that I reserved (had confirmation for) was not available at the location as promised. No offer as to the next nearest location where the truck I needed was available.

I was told to contact 1-800-GOBUDGET and spent the next hour and a half on the phone with one rep or another. Found the truck 9 miles away, ok, no big deal, but when I arrived at the scheduled pickup time I was told they just rented out the last 12 ft. truck they had, but I could have a 16 ft. truck for the same price. Sounds like a deal, but I did not want to travel the distance I needed to travel with this larger truck and the apartment complex I was moving from was not easy to navigate with this larger truck. I was told that I could go to yet a third location that had the 12 ft. truck I needed, but by this point I would be a fool to believe that they would have it once I arrived. I then left the office area to call customer service to complain and see if I could get a discount for my (further) inconvenience.

Long story short and a half hour later I was "promised" that I could call once the truck was returned and get a refund ($35.35) for half the base rate. I asked what assurance I had that they would honor that after the fact and the rep freely gave me his name (even spelled it for me) and his id number. What else could I do but trust him. Lo and behold I call today for my "promised" refund and after speaking with a rep and their supervisor I was told that the rate had already been discounted and that there was no documentation for the refund I was promised. When asked about the rep and id I was given I was told that she did not know this person. She also pointed out that they do not guarantee availability or location. What the heck is the purpose of a confirmation then? What a way to run a business. I would not recommend to my worst enemy. Stay as far away from Budget Truck Rentals as you can.

What should have been an easy pickup of a rental truck reserved a week in advance turned into an adventure in poor customer service at the rental dealer through the customer service agents on the phone. Quote of the day 1, at the dealer "Reservations don't matter here - it's first come first serve." Customer service apparently refers the matter to an inventory control person who may call you back in two hours, or by the next business day. Quote du jour 2: "Don't worry, we're a national chain, we have tons of trucks."

SO, next business day comes, re-reserve a truck and re-book labor at $150 loss only to find out again, the reservation was NOT completed by the customer service. Makes no entries in the reservation online file to track the order process. Naturally the follow-up with management meets a dead end because of a lack of a documentation trail. I expect this kind of fly by night service from moving ads posted on telephone poles, not a national chain. Bottom line - NEVER AGAIN with Budget for a rental truck.

Basic problem is that they have great rates but the day before they call you to tell you they don't have a truck leaving you to scramble to find a replacement truck somewhere else at a higher price. Or they ask you to take a smaller truck which is what anyone else would charge. This is false advertising and fraudulent. After they call you go online and they continue to advertise the truck you actually want and reserve it at another location only to have Joe at their Denver western region location call you to tell you the truck is not available and to take a smaller truck. When you complain he hangs up on you.

I have rented numerous times and have not had major problems but last time I had very bad tires. It was raining hard and didn't have time to check the truck carefully. Bottom line they can't be trusted to give you the equipment you reserve when you want it. There is no guarantee and you could incur expenses due to delays in your move. Also they are using bait and switch techniques. Seldom have I seen such blatant and fraudulent behavior from a major company. There should be a class action suit against this fraudulent company. The people who are posting complaints on this site should also complain to their Better Business Bureau, and local and state consumer protection offices as well as the AAA whose membership these fraudsters offer a discount.

Rented via internet 2 weeks prior to pick up date. Got to location, no 12' and no record of my confirmation. I had all my confirmation paperwork. Didn't want to accept a 16'. Too big for my purposes to drive across state 400 miles with only a quarter of the vehicle loaded. No furniture just boxes. Representative. Allied another location clear across town and sent me there because they said they had a 12'. Got there and they said they were mistaken - no 12'. Still had to settle for a 16'. Vehicles had no drivers side mirror, it was broken and bottom missing. Said it was okay, it had passed a safety inspection. Should have been a clue.

The truck was horrible but too late to find somewhere else. Drove across the state, not able to speak to my husband because the interior noise was so loud, we could not hear each other. Wind coming into cab from somewhere. Drive horribly. Shook the entire trip. Got home dropped items in driveway and left to return a day early. Went to location they set for drop off - didn't exist. Tried to google by name and went there - they were not in business for Budget anymore. Called the phone number listed on contract - disconnected. Called 1800 number and got disconnected 4x after telling each representative same story. Finally call #5 got thru to customer service. 2 people later got a supervisor LUIS ** who told me to drive another 20 something miles to a new drop off. And then asked me to call back and they would reimburse me for problems.

Got to new location some 49 minutes later. Nice woman said this happens all day long. 3 calls later I finally get customer service. New supervisor Marcos listened to my story again and said he could offer $34??? Monday's pickup disaster and now Wednesday's drop off problems and that amounts to 10%??? Wow. Tried to explain again and reiterate horrible experience and he gave me another $6. Wow. $40 for all my time and my husband and all the mess. Never. Never. Never again will I consider Budget. And I will tell everyone I know this story and encourage them not to use Budget. Absolutely poor customer service resolution.

Long story short: Rented a truck in Bakersfield for a one-way move Fri 8 am to Sun 8 am with drop-off location in Hollywood. The pick-up place was on time and super friendly - yet the car was super dirty, had a cracked windshield and marks all over. (I mean it is called Budget Truck for a reason...) I had no issues with the truck or move itself. Issues started as I was trying to return the truck on designated location and time.

Pulling up to the drop-off location was a disaster from the first minute. No parking for trucks, just a small lot for compact cars (yes, I put my warning signals on and parked in the middle of the lot. What else to do?!). Right away I realized the location was closed ALL Sunday and I called customer service right away - I got told to go to another location with *after hours drop-off*, 40 minutes north of designated location. Hell no. I did that to refill the gas and to pay for other location and after hours fees...

I found a street parking after circling around the blocks for half an hour. I left the truck and went back Monday morning as business opened. They told me right away they have no power not to charge me for a late return of the vehicle and that I had to call customer service again. I even had to wait for the owner of the location since I wasn't accepting that extra fee due to their failure to fulfill contract. After many calls to Budget Truck Rentals customer service they will now reimburse me for the extra charge and I will never rent a truck by them again... End of story.

Got there and were told a driver was bringing our truck at 9:30am (it was at a location that was at least 45 minutes away). At 9:30am we were informed that the driver had not even left yet. Meanwhile, 2 other parties arrived and asked about their trucks, which were likewise unavailable. Budget offered to drive all of us out to get our trucks, but then we all realized the paperwork said they were giving us 26 ft trucks instead of the requested 16 ft trucks. And they weren't even going to mention it!

When questioned, they admitted that they had NO 16 ft trucks in all of LA, even though we all had reservations. We absolutely cannot maneuver such a large truck on our narrow streets or our driveway. So after 2 hours of waiting at the Budget office, we had to cancel the whole deal and delay our move and vacation until we can get a truck from someone else. Thanks, Budget! We will NEVER use you again.

DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET!!! I thought I would save $100 and it was a terrible decision. I rented a 12' box truck in Nashville and had to move the pick up date back a day due to weather. The location even closed early that day due to the same weather. It was supposed to be 9 days and unlimited miles. On the way I had some problems and called roadside assistance. Put an order in and was told they would get on it and get back to me. Luckily a passing motorist pulled over and helped me get going after being on the side of the road for about 2 hours. I called back to cancel the order and after being on hold for 30+ minutes I was told the order had never even been started. WOW I would have been there all night.

Upon returning the truck to Portland, OR there was a major storm. I was lucky to return the truck what I thought was a day late. I tried to call the drop off location the day before to no answer. Then got kicked to customer service (which is a complete waste of time). They told me the only way to amend the reservation was to contact the location. I called at least 10 more times still to no answer. Once I dropped it off they charged me for 2 overage days plus 2 days of insurance that I had declined originally. The clown at the desk told me he has to charge me but just call customer service and they will reimburse because of weather. I called and was told the can only reimburse $30 of the $237.24. I asked to talk to a supervisor and was put on hold for 15 minutes only be told over and over "I am sorry this is all I can do". It's U-Haul only for me from now on.

This morning, both locations have charged me a NO SHOW fee of $50.00 each! What in the world? I called customer support. It takes them such a short time to pull money from your account but when calling to get a refund it takes forever between the calls and the banks. When I asked to speak to someone higher to approve getting it back immediately she refused and said I would have to talk to MY bank about the timeframe... that was where the hold up was... fine I called my bank.

Needless to say Budget customer service lied! My bank was apologetic that I was getting the runaround but that it was on the Budget side of things. They had pulled the money and my credit union would return it as soon as the funds hit. What the heck? So now I wait to see if I truly get a refund. Shame on me for assuming that a nationwide company wouldn't send their customers on the road in unsafe vehicles. I suppose I should have checked under the hood as well to ensure that the transmission won't crap out before taking it out on the road.

We rented a truck on 11/30/2016 and had some issues with this unit. First the truck was sent out without DEF fluid in it so the guys noticed that and had to stop and fill that up. 6 hours into the rental the unit broke down. I had 2 employees that were driving the truck and at 6 am they called me and told me that the truck had an issue. The check engine light had come on and the truck was smoking. I told them to get to a safe place and call roadside assistance. Roadside sent out a guy which was pretty fast in getting there and looked and the issue tapped on a couple of things and said they were good to go that the DEF filter was clogged and they should be good.

20 Miles or so later the truck started again with the smoking. Again told them to get to a safe place and call roadside and tell them to either bring a new truck or a DEF Filter with them. They were told that they would have to return the truck to the place that it was rented from to get a new truck --- Well we were about 6 hours away from that --- Roadside told them they get a text within a half hour. 1 hours go by nothing. I called and wanted to know what was going on and they told me they could not locate a tech. I asked for a swap and got denied. Another half hour goes by I called again, the lady tells me she still cannot locate a tech. I pushed again for the swap of the truck as am paying these 2 guys plus 2 guys in Superior Wisconsin who are waiting on my 2 guys to get there.

Finally in a final call they tell me they are going to get another truck out to them and I will receive a call or text - I received a call and it was someone telling me

that the truck is on the way but they are coming from St. Paul MN and that was 3.5 hours away. So again everyone is sitting and I am paying everyone to sit and wait. So all in all I have 10 hours of sitting time at 260.00 per hour which I am losing on a job that should only take my guys 21 hours to do from start to finish and instead it takes 35 hours plus a night stay over.

I am looking to see if Budget will work with me to get compensated for this loss of time and money. I will include receipts of the hotel stay, DEF fluid replacement and not sure what we need to do for the hours of labor that have incurred. I am hoping we can resolve this issue fast as I am a very small business and really cannot afford to have added expenses when we give a customer an estimate and lose. Called customer service, talked to the supervisor (supposed), "All we can do for you sir is give you 150.00 for your trouble" - tried to explain that I am now out 2600.00 due to the inadequate truck that was rented to me. I rented a truck and an auto towing trailer from Budget in Aug. 3. Hours into my move I was left stranded on the side of the road for over 6 hours with three flat tires. After asking me to continue to sit and wait for another 12 hours minimum for it to be repaired, I had a tow company pick up the trailer, which I was ensured I would not encounter any fees from. At this point I was mad that I spent $225 for a trailer that I was suppose to have for 7 days but had less than 1, however I was thankful to not be on the side of the road anymore. When I turned in the truck I asked about a refund on the trailer and was told no but I would not see any more charges for my trip. I walked away very angry that I wasted my money on this company but I let it go as I was glad to be done dealing with them.

106 days later I get an email with a bill for $500 for "towing" fees. SURPRISE!! I talked to the adjuster Patrick twice, got several different stories that magically changed every time he needed it to fit in with what he was saying. However I learned something VERY EYE OPENING: Budget Rentals (depending what state and which laws they want to go by) have up to 3 years (some states longer) to come after the renter for any "damages" and "fees" they feel is necessary up to the amount of the insurance you purchased. The statement in the contract that they use to get away with this is "You are responsible for and will pay us for all loss of or damage to the truck whether or not you were at fault from any cause natural or unknown."

So if you rented from Budget take note/pictures of any prior damage, hold on to all documentation for at least 3 years and if you have any issues know that you will be given a bill, even if they tell you you won't and it will be when you least expect it! I am shocked a company that treats customers like this can still be in business.

When I called to cancel the agent was very rude and unhelpful and said I would be charged a $50 cancellation fee. I explained that I never even received any confirmation through email or over the phone so I should not have to pay and I asked to speak to supervisor. The agent put me on hold for 3 minutes and came back and said she could waive it. I asked her could she make sure I get a cancellation email because I never received a confirmation in the first place and she said she would.

Two days later the $50 charge shows up on my account. I call them back and they give me a hard time and once again the agent is rude and unhelpful. They said I would get a refund but I will believe it when I see it back in my account and I will keep calling them until they do. I will never use this company again that's for sure and make sure to discourage others from using as well!

Made an online reservation, put in my credit card number and received a confirmation number. Got a confirmation email as well as email reminder not to forget about reservation and that I would be billed for a no-show. One hour before pick-up and while I'm on my way to get the truck for the move, I get a call from Budget that the owner of the location decided not to come in and I would have to travel to a further location to still have a rental. Never mind the fact that if I had reserved it from the city further away, the price would have been cheaper (lower price per mile) but now when I return it to the original location it will be priced as a 'one-way' and double the price (which the person on the phone specifically told me would NOT happen).

I coerced my friend to drive the distance to get me to the further city to pick up the truck. Guy behind the counter is having a terrible day because I'm already the 5th person with the same story and he is running out of trucks. I'm about to leave there with the second to last truck, when he confides in me that there are another 11 people after me who've made reservations who will be unfortunately also have a VERY bad day since there are no more trucks for their reservation! How does this company stay in business? After an already stressful move, I return the truck to the location I picked it up at instead of the closer location to my home and where I made my original reservation. The location is closed but I was told to just lift the gate and slide the key under.

This easily lift-able gate is locked and weighed about 1000 pounds. I didn't mind crushing my hand trying to slide the key underneath, it was trying to do it in the pouring rain while 10 or so rats felt like I was either invading their territory or inviting them to get into the business as I tried to lift the gate (I could see why they kept the garage door gate shut CLOSED). After begging the rats not to bite me and let me leave with my life, I walked the streets of the BRONX, NY at midnight in a secluded part of town trying to navigate my way back home. I call this morning to make sure that they got the truck back safe and sound and figure out my bill. They came in, took a look at the truck and promptly drove the truck over to the location near my home and left it there, and then charged me the one-way rate ANYWAY.

So, the fiasco with the midnight knife fight in the pouring rain with the ninja rats was all for nothing. I call customer service to get this fixed. "We can't work on this because the reservation is not closed out." WHAT?!? I dropped off the truck at midnight and the location opens at 8am. They've had the truck for 4 hours now. Call back the location. "Go call where we dropped if off at, ya putz." Call the original place. Is he sorry that he just didn't show up to work and caused this entire problem? NO. Does he know where my truck is? NO. A few more of these back and forth calls and he finally agrees to close out the reservation. Here is the kicker, he tells me "Don't worry, I didn't add any extra fees to the ONE-WAY rental you dropped off at the pick-up location. We won't charge you for driving the truck back over here."

I don't know how I found the fortitude to not explode. I think I even thanked him for his help. I have a feeling it was likely due to disorientation from the colors I was beginning to see. I call customer service back and explain my situation. They are the only other victims in this story because they likely get millions of calls from enraged, frustrated customers like me. They have to help, but are forced to do it in 1-minute increments and then stop to ask you for permission to work on it for another minute.

I tried to tell the young lady that I was happy to wait however long it took to fix the problem, but she told me she was not allowed to just work until it was finished. She HAD to ask me once a minute if she could continue to work on it. Eventually she was able credit me for the difference in the price of the one-way and local rental. However, she could not change the payment option (I wanted to pay with a different card since they take a large deposit for local rentals) since payment had been taken immediately. While I ended up in a lot better position than most who rent with Budget, I certainly will not be using them in the future.

Was looking for a truck rental for one day to move some furniture. Saw Budget's offer of daily truck use - I think $19 plus mileage - moving within the same city so a perfect fit for me. Guessed my total cost could not exceed $40. As I said, perfect fit for me. Secured the truck for the following day online. Received a confirmation in minutes - everything as advertised - could not have been easier. I lined up all my appointments for the following day - picking the truck up at 9AM. Arrived at the truck rental spot with labor ready to go. The local rental location talked to me like I was crazy. What was I doing there? Said of course here to pick up my truck and gave him my confirmation number showing charge to my credit card. He simply said "Sorry can't give you a truck I do not have - completely booked up. You will have to call around to somewhere else."

I demanded that he call the company and see what was available. He said there was a location 10 miles away. He would check with them and call me back when he could. I headed out of my way to the new location. No phone call and when I arrived at the alternative location - no truck. Now my entire day was shot - behind on scheduled appointments and wasted labor expense. Drove out of my way to the closest Home Depot to rent a truck from them - they were sold out but referred by to a second Home Depot location even further away. Last minute had to pay premium price for the Home depot truck and because of the late hour - an all day price $104.00.

After taking care of all the paperwork and way behind on my way to the first location the Budget guy finally called back (2 hours later) to say he knew a location I could go to - rent the truck. After telling him "thanks but no thanks" I went on with my day. Totally cost be truck price of $64 and a minimum of $50 in labor. I called Budget the next day as they charged me anyway and said no show on the invoice. Called, spoke to their joke of a customer service department. They agree to reverse the charge of $50 when I threatened to reverse the charge with my credit card company. They agreed and said it would take 5 to 7 business days for the credit to surface!

The gall of these people. I asked to speak to a customer service supervisor. They said and I quote "there were no supervisors in the US. You could email an international location" but they would not do anything for me anyway. A total disaster. Choose another company - these people are crooks and do not care if you are taken care of.

I recently moved from Topeka Kansas to Lagrange Georgia. I had to pick the truck up in Lawrence, Kansas. First of all when making my reservation I wasn't told that there was a $150 deposit. I paid $1440.00 I had a truck and the equipment to tow my car. I was given instructions to turn the truck in Alabama. I had to return the truck on Oct 8th and was told that the facility would be open from 8 am til noon. Upon arrival the facility was closed so I had to leave the key and the contract there and I would return Monday to get my deposit back.

On Monday I got a call from the facility saying that he does not handle cash so I would have to be refunded by check via mail in which I was not told that when I asked the gentlemen at the facility. Suppose I came to rent a truck and was paying cash you would take the money so you do handle cash and I had to leave Georgia to go to Alabama to return the truck.

This was a inconvenience because I am thinking when I return the truck I would get my deposit back. I called to do a follow up today and explained that I turned in all the paperwork and I didn't know the town in Alabama I turned the truck in. I was told to call the facility and I said how can I call the facility and I don't even remember the town it was in. So I have yet to get my refund and the customer care rep was very rude. I would never use them again.

Statement/Timeline: We reserved a moving truck from Budget Rental Glendale in my husband's name on 9/25/16. We received confirmation of the reservation that day. I took off work that Saturday so I can help load the truck. On Sep 29th, I received a second confirmation that said it's almost time to pick up my truck on 10/30.

We called the evening of the 29th to confirm we would by at 10 and they said, “Oh, we canceled that reservation. We overbooked!” “But we did just leave you a voicemail!" "But call this number for Budget and they will help you find another reservation in the area." We called that number and were told we would be called back within 2 hours. We weren't called back, and our search on the internet made it appear that nothing was available anywhere in LA. We called again because we did not hear back. Again, they said, "we will call you back in 2 hours." NO CALL EVER CAME! At this point, I had now wasted hours and hours trying to resolve their screw up.

I then tried UHAUL and made a reservation for an 11:30 pickup in North Hills. I call them to confirm and they say, "oh, we don't actually have anything available, that was just a request for a truck, not a reservation." It appears that this is common practice in the rental industry these days. I spoke to several other locations and they said, "yeah, we don't have anything, we have 7 reservations and only 3 trucks!"

We finally, finally found a truck to rent 2 days later with Penske, which required me to take a second day off of work. The lady at Penske said that Budget and Uhaul are notorious for doing this and that she gets calls all the time from people who have had the same thing happen to them. THIS IS A TERRIBLE PRACTICE. People are already stressed out about moving. I tried to make all the plans and to be prepared as possible, only to run into this MAJOR problem that is not our fault at all. It’s really awful, and I can't imagine how many families are affected by this.

WHAT I AM SEEKING AS A RESOLUTION: I am seeking acknowledgment that this is a poor business model, apologies that I was never contacted on both of the occasions I was told I would be, compensation for my time wasted, stress accumulated, and for the extra day of work I had to take off. In a perfect world, I would like for these companies to change their business model, as this seems like a giant problem.

Just got off the phone with Budget Truck Rental. I had a problem with my brakes freezing up on a truck this weekend. The mechanic came out 3 hours later and of course the brakes were cooled down by then and worked fine on his 20' test drive. He told me to ask for a replacement truck. So, I called Budget and the maintenance manager told me if they couldn't replicate the problem that I would be responsible for the bill. I asked what bill and he wouldn't answer. I'm not sure if it was going to be for 2 truck rentals or the mechanics bill. I asked him if he was telling me to drive a truck that I thought was dangerous and he reiterated that I would have to pay if they couldn't replicate the problem. Now it is about 11 pm and it was too late to do anything. Sunday morning Budget calls and same thing so by now I tell them to **.

They say "you don't want a replacement truck?" I said "** no". Now they ask where I am returning the truck. I ask "why?" And they say so they can repair it. Lol. I said "why? YOU don't trust the brakes?" I took it back to the place I rented it and they exchanged it - no questions asked. 24 hours after I picked it up. Two days later I call Budget to complain and they said it was my responsibility to bring the truck to a repair facility on Sunday for repairs. WHAT??? Waste 2 days on a 3 day rental. Luckily it wasn't loaded yet and I wasn't stuck on the side of the road. Hopefully I don't get billed for complaining. Do yourself a favor and avoid Budget Truck Rental. BUDGET SUCKS!!!

Received no support in finding a replacement truck, and therefore was unable to move. The representative didn't care at all. Noticed a $50 no-show charge on my credit card bill on Monday. Called customer service Tuesday, got a simple "sorry", and was told the $50 would be reimbursed. Thank goodness U-Haul was able to provide something last minute. Never using Budget again.

A reservation was made and confirmed with Budget Truck Rental for a pickup at 2pm for Sept. 30 - we are moving. The day of the rental when we went to pick up the truck, there was no truck available. Yes, no truck. We were told we would receive a call within 2 hours - heck no! Of course there was no call. I had to call customer service only to be told "your request has been escalated and you should receive a call within 49 minutes or tomorrow. Is that ok?" Hell no. We contracted for a truck on 9/30 not 10/1 - what can I do. I have to wait but I can post on this site in the interim.

The rep, Kim, I spoke with said 'you don't have a contract and we don't guarantee a truck when you book online' as a response to my strong "we made a contract with you when we booked and received a confirmation number". What??? Reservation & confirmation does equal a contract! So now, we are waiting to hear from them as our house is packed with boxes ready to move. Such a large corporation without any sense of organization, and more importantly, they doesn't care about their reputation or posts that consumers make as you can see my complaint isn't the first. You pay for a service and don't receive the merchandise. Will "never" use them again and won't recommend them.

My daughter and I rented a truck in New Bedford, Mass. on Sept 27. I drove the truck to Maryland on the 28th. The truck was extremely hard to handle due to a worn out suspension system. Worse, while driving at high speed on the NJ Turnpike, the right rear tire blew out causing me to have to struggle to control the truck and get it safely off the road. Budget paid for the repair; that is not my complaint. Rather it is that they rented the truck in an unsafe condition, and when I tried to inform the service person of this when I returned the truck, she was entirely uninterested. I felt I should document this event so that others know to avoid Budget Truck Rental, and so that the company will be on notice of the unsafe condition of their vehicles so that they either will take steps to rectify the situation, or risk liability for a lawsuit if/when someone is not as fortunate as I was, and is seriously injured while renting a Budget vehicle.

My mother just rented a truck from them. She is going from ATX to Detroit. At no time did the website or the people at the location tell her that NONE of their trucks LOCK. Since when? I'm SURE this would be a deal breaker for everyone traveling for multiple days. I rented from the Ben White location in 09 and my truck most definitely locked. Also, they did not have her truck available at the Ben White location, even though she reserved over a month prior.

They sent her up north to the 183/MLK location. They made no effort to have it driven down by an employee. So now because my mother is on a budget and HAS to use Budget because of the price, she is forced to drive a truck that doesn't lock for 3 days with all her possessions inside. She also was not offered a discount for these inconveniences. Horrible service. Horrible. If you can afford it, rent from a different company. Phone calls WILL BE MADE to customer service.

The online reservation of our truck was smooth and easy. UNFORTUNATELY, that was the only thing. When we went to pick up the truck the facility was closed. Just so happens the manager had come to the office to pick some papers. When she saw my husband there, she was wondering why. He told her that he was there to pick up our truck that was rented via the web. She was shocked as they were closed for the week. My husband explained to her that we need our truck as reserved online because we are moving out of State and his job starts on Monday.

Well she gave us a truck, the only tr6 on the lot, which was a little bigger than what we reserved, which we were grateful, until the big surprise of the ants. We picked up our truck on a Wednesday, packed it but didn't get on the road until Thursday. It wasn't until Thursday evening when we finally pulled over to eat that we were surprised. The bag of chips that was sitting on the passenger seat was covered with red ants. My husband said he had seen a couple of ants but didn't think anything of it as the truck had been sitting on a lot for days. But when the ants started coming from the vents, floor mats, passenger door, up his leg, he had to pull over, jump out of the truck to get the ants off of him. All trying not to have an accident.

Once we reported this to Budget, there only words were "we are so sorry. We can send another truck." Well that would have been fine but who was go to repack a truck. So we bought bug spray and had to stay overnight at a hotel until some of the ants subsided, plus my husband could not drive because of the ** he took due to the ant bites. So we report all of this. Was told that we will be issued a refund once we return the truck. Well we were satisfied with this because at least they were not going to charge us for this horrible experience. So we go to drop off the truck, only to be told that the office is closed for 2 days and will not open until Wednesday. This was not told to us by budget, but by a tenant in the company next to the budget rental office. As a matter of fact, he said I was the third person he had told that morning.

Well once again we get screwed. There at 8:00am, late to work, and no one there. We were told by the service rep that once we return the truck, they would issue the refund. Well how convenient to be closed. Once I reported this incident to customer service, I was told that the charges will remain on hold until the ticket is closed. He assured my husband that NOTHING CAN BE DONE UNTIL THE TICKET IS CLOSED. So left the keys in the night drop as instructed, waited until Wednesday to speak with the rep, who stated that she had informed Budget that she would be out until Wednesday and please do not lost this site as a drop off until Wednesday.

Bottom line after contacting customer service, my husband was told that no charges will be charged to our credit card, the hold should call off in 5-7 days. NOT. THEY HAD ALREADY CHARGED MY ACCOUNT ON MONDAY AFTER WE WERE TOLD THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE UNTIL WEDNESDAY. Liars, poor customer service, infestation, all made for horrible experience. Never rented from this company.

So we are an active duty family. Last April my family and I were restationed from Fort Carson Colorado to Fort Drum New York. We rented a budget truck in Colorado and got in an accident that damaged the roof of the vehicle. Prior to starting our move I purchased what Budget Truck claims to be a foolproof insurance purchase through them. Directly after the accident contacted local law enforcement reported the accident and then called Budget Truck customer service where I was redirected multiple times until finally connected to somebody who informed me that the cover all insurance that I purchased for almost $400 did not cover rooftop damage even though I specifically told buy a Budget Truck employee that it covered everything that you could imagine.

The accident happened in Illinois in the middle of the night. We were advised that Budget Truck would not rent us a second moving truck and we were told that we needed to get all belongings out of the 24 foot box truck. They left my father and I stranded in Chicago with everything we have ever owned. They had no regard for our situation and simply left us out to dry. My insurance covered the damages after they attempted to charge me 10,000 dollars in repairs. It was nowhere near that amount in true damages/labor. I want the public to hear my story and acknowledge the complete disregard for the customers well-being or simply safety. Thank you U-Haul and State Farm for helping me and my family out.
