Very professional, personable and went the extra mile to help customize my needs. The entire staff from the office personnel, primarily Rachel **, the packers & movers were very accommodating, efficient & genuinely cared about me as a customer. We contracted through North American Van Lines/Allied for an interstate move from Reno to NC. They contracted out to Silver State Moving and Colonial Van and storage. Our goods left Reno on Feb 8th (today is March 3), and understandably they encountered the horrible TX snow storm—we understood the delay, we then got a call (now TWELVE days ago) from our driver informing us the rig broke down in Little Rock, Arkansas. We understand mechanical issues happen too, and feel as though we’ve been patient. What we cannot understand is how an interstate shipping company cannot come up with a solution to get our stuff here.

We’ve dealt with our move coordinator in Reno, Kevin **, his boss, Dana, and corporate, Hailey. Every single one of them makes promises of updates and return phone calls, but nobody follows through. We are spending HOURS every day trying to track down our goods/get a definitive answer on when our goods will arrive. We believe a rental rig or alternate rig should be sent at this point. Part of the issue may be that we have fully paid in advance—WARNING to others if you choose to go with this company we strongly recommend payment on delivery as we feel we’ve been taken advantage of and have zero recourse (you can file a delay claim, but only AFTER you get your goods). So here we are in our new home without even a bed, pot, pan, or silverware to care for our kids.

Terrible overall service. Initially left some items behind in the house while packing which caused an additional shipment to be sent which they sent via another moving company vs themselves. Argued about paying the additional customs inspection charges for the additional shipment and then refused to pay for the additional delivery costs for the extra shipment - neither of which we would have had to pay if they had gotten it all in the first packing case forgetting some items which we had reminded them to pack.

Still have not received the extra items 3 months after the main shipment was delivered. 10k worth of damage done to furniture through water damage, mold and stacking of 2 and 3 person heavy lounges on the arms in the containers (breaking the arms). Insurance through them is terribly slow, taking 1 month to come and assess the boxes of mold affected items while we still had to store them at our house, then 3 months and still not resolving all the broken lounges. Don’t be impressed by the initial quote and professional appearance, everything soon falls apart.

I moved from New York to Carolina and after taking all day and Night to pack their truck, the driver went home without confirming content or weight of this truck, leaving it up to them to lie or not about the weight. Also, the "Salesman" specifically told us the maximum charge couldn't go over $5,400 but when we arrived they would not unload the truck until we paid $7,200, yes they held our belongings hostage. We paid, presented our contract but they continually dodged us and ultimately did NOTHING! RIP-OFF!

Allied is a good company, the movers/packers turned on that old school music and started packing to the music. It was three of them and they packed everything very well until it was time to unpack. I had a total of 3 televisions and they swore up and down I only had 2 but the invoice didn't lie. I had three and they didn't realize it until after they had left.

In my kitchen I specially told the packer to pack a certain cabinet, that included all the pots and pans, to my surprise I only had the bottoms to all my pots. Well then unpacking clothes I had a few church suits, and some Jordan tennis shoes that came up missing, and some cable equipment. Man it was frightening. I had've had to pay for the equipment that was lost which would have cost me over $900. Man I talked to my consultant. We located all the everything. Someone had moved it to the other side with someone else's stuff. But glad that I knew the person they were shipping to otherwise I would've been up the creek

Moved from Florida to South Dakota. The packers just threw expensive items unwrapped in boxes, Had garage stuff mixed with good inside items. As an example, an unwrapped expensive dolphin wood carving was in our outside grill. Can't find any of our electronic cords and remotes because they didn't pack anything together. Collectibles were just thrown in boxes with heavy items packed on top. Gouges in some of our furniture. Packed unwrapped metal items into our bedroom dressers. The driver said he unloaded a headboard and it was behind the boxes that were unloaded in the garage. Nothing behind the boxes. If you use this company get ready to hear ad nauseam "Just put it on your claim". We have pictures to prove these statements.

Lost my teak patio bench. Lost my Cosco folding tables (2) from Costco. Lost my kitchen pans. The list just goes on.

My things went into storage they broke stuff putting it in storage. Gave me the bill of lading. I paid in full with a cashier's check that was required. No credit cards or there was a fee. Then several months later some woman called me. Wanted another $213.00. Said the driver didn’t charge me enough but he gave me what the company charged. Decided after a month wasn’t worth the stress so paid over the phone with a credit card, amazingly no fee. Then a month later said I hadn’t so I had to send proof on my CC Bill I had plus the copy they had sent me that I had. That woman is no longer employed there and hasn’t been for over a year. From start to finish, working with Allied was a terrible experience. First, we were told that the movers would come on a certain day, and when I called to confirm 2 days prior (because I hadn't heard back via email to confirm), I was told the movers would actually take 2 days and would come the next day. Next, when items were being packed, an entire closet was missed (Luckily, we did a walk through before we moved). Finally, Allied lost nearly $3,000 of items in our move, including our wedding silver, an unused designer purse and attachments for our Dyson vacuum (not to mention things we likely haven't noticed). When I submitted a claim, I was told that since we signed for our items, the claim was invalid (as if one could actually know what was in every box the day they were dropped off). We paid $14k for the pleasure of this terrible experience. AVOID ALLIED AT ALL COSTS.

The whole experience with this company was a nightmare. One day for boxing took 3 days. All the boxers did was complain. Showed up late and no motivation whatsoever. Asking is this going or that going. Each time YES we are moving out of state and taking everything. When boxers were done they had left all their trash (empty table wraps and drink bottles) all over the house. Truck comes and they can't load it all. So we had an overflow truck come out. We were heading to our new home the following day. It is getting around 8 PM the day before. They are rushing to get stuff on the truck. They weren't even wrapping the furniture or labeling the boxes at that point. Our overflow stuff sat in their warehouse for a month (We already paid them the full amount of almost 13 grand).

Our stuff was picked up by a driver after a month and was on his truck for almost 2 weeks before we got it. This is where it gets really ugly. Furniture coming off the truck hadn't been wrapped. So we have scratches on tables and busted ends on 2 of the end tables. A tall vase was brought off the truck not wrapped at all but in pieces. They brought it in our house that way. We are missing rugs and a 12 foot ladder. Not done unpacking the overflow stuff, but I am sure we are missing other items as well. Avoid this company at all costs. The only positive I will say about this whole process is that the loaders were pretty quick. Another thing is keep a garbage bag around. Drink bottles, cigarette butts, food garbage, and packing materials seem to have gotten left behind for me to clean up.

The worst moving experience I have EVER had. I’ve moved states 3 times prior. And moved 5 times within the state. Dale ** came out to walk my house. Most of our stuff was boxed and sitting in my garage. So, to me it seemed very clear how much we had and what needed to be loaded. He saw everything and gave me a quote. We received 3 bids and went with Allied. Loading day: The truck showed up with a prior load so the crew was unable to get all our stuff loaded. After trying to contact the office unsuccessfully, I was assured by the crew they’d get the rest on another truck the next day.

Allied showed up the next day with a box truck (REALLY?!?). STILL unable to load everything. I needed to leave so I could meet the driver in Utah to let him in our house to unload. Again, after being reassured they get everything I left. About 3 hours into my drive to Utah I get a call from Dale ** who then tells me that I need to pay a third party to come take apart our weight gym. THIS WAS THE FIRST I HEARD OF THIS. (Remember he walked my house and SAW everything) So, I ended up paying $300 to a third party to come take apart the weight gym while I was driving. I felt taken advantage of because I was backed into a corner. Hire the company or they wouldn’t load the gym.

5 days later the first truck showed up in Utah. Took about 6 hours to unload. 2 guys to unload and driver were excellent. Didn’t realize UNTIL AFTER THEY LEFT that they left a mattress standing up in my garage. 2 beds arrived out of 5 so my kids slept on the floor. I had to go buy a mattress so my kids had something to sleep on. (I was reimbursed – because we bought the full coverage insurance).

15 days later the SECOND truck shows up. (My kids first day of school in a new state, new school, new friends – they should have been done before they got home from school, right?! NOPE!) Took 3 guys 10 HOURS to unload. The driver worked hard. The 1st guy acted like he didn’t know anything so I stood outside most of the time reading boxes to him. The 2nd guy slept on the front lawn for 6 hours! Yes, you read that right 6 hours! At 8 pm I made a call to corporate to complain. (I missed EVERYTHING great about my kid's FIRST day of school.) They claimed they couldn’t get a couch through the front door so they left it in the garage.

68 days later the THIRD truck showed up. Half my stuff looked like it was stored outside. (Even after being reassured that it was being kept in a climate-controlled storage unit in Houston). So, what was told to me that our stuff would arrive in 7-10 days took 68 days.…BUT, I had to pay in full the first day they loaded 1/4 stuff.

The people I dealt with lied continually about the status of our stuff, never answered or returned my calls, made promises that clearly, they never intended to keep. BUT WERE PAID IN FULL THE SAME DAY ¼ OF MY STUFF LEFT HOUSTON. I’ll spare you the long list of lies I was told by Dale ** and Angie and the few others that work in the Houston office.

This ALL could have been a delightful experience IF THEY WOULD HAVE SHOWED UP DAY 1 WITH AN EMPTY SEMI TRAILER. 3 loads and with each load different items were left in my garage claiming they couldn’t get it through the door. I had to hired a local moving company 3 TIMES to move items into my house. Things were damaged along the way. The company they hired to come out to fix broken, ripped or damaged items were great to work with. This was an awful experience, awful!! I wouldn’t use this company to move if it was gifted to me. Please save yourself the stress and heartache and HIRE a different company.

Allied/Coleman Movers. I do NOT recommend Allied Coleman, dealing with them has been extremely stressful and resulted in some of my precious belongings being damaged. Being a retired Naval officer, I have moved 14 times in my 30 career. Most moves have gone seamlessly, even the overseas ones. That all ended with this most recent move from SC to FL.

Our initial contact with Allied was quite pleasant with a reasonable quote and the promise of personal, hands on service and a pledge to be there throughout the move. Little did we realize that this pledge was to be at a distance… and not always accessible. The pack-out was scheduled and a team of three came to pack out a three bedroom house with garage in one day. They were subcontracted by Allied and started work at 10 in the morning to begin their work. They worked all day and as the evening approached, they were less careful and when we asked about certain things not being packed, they indicated that the loaders would do it the next day and that they would leave packing material to make that happen.

The next morning when the driver and the two loaders arrived, the first thing they did was to complain that the packers had neither packed everything they should have and the packing they did was inadequate. I have never seen loaders move so slow and be so inefficient in their loading. Once again, the driver also complained about the loaders. By the middle of the afternoon, it became evident that not all our belongings would fit on the truck and an overflow load was scheduled for pickup. Our contact person at Allied who pledged to be with us throughout this move was of little help and finally found someone to come later to pick up the rest of the load. The person who picked up the overflow saw it as an inconvenience to come and pick up the rest of my things and treated them so...(the most damage came from this partial shipment).

On the last possible day to deliver the household goods, the driver arrived with a new team to bring the load into the house. Once again, the driver complained about the previous loaders as the new team was taking things off the truck and as a result, we could see evident damage which we recorded. A few days later the overflow arrived, delivered by a different driver than the one who picked up in SC. These goods had been transferred to his truck as he was making a delivery to our area of FL. He complained about the previous driver and noted damages even before he picked up some of the items.

The result was that over $7000 in damages and allied covering $2700 of that. They damaged a painting and my Henkel Harris table as well as numerous other items. They also lost a Tunisian rug which they did not reimburse me with. Needless to say, it was a mess. Everyone is a subcontractor and everyone complained about the inadequacies of the other. Allied’s coordination and help was minimal and insufficient. There are better and more efficient moving companies.

I hope by sharing this horrific experience that at least 1 other soul will be spared going through the stress, exhaustion, and depression that I've experienced by making one of the most costly mistakes of my life. I paid dearly for this interstate move. Both my husband and I are young professionals. When he was relocated for his job, we had to sell our house and move to another state. To save the inconvenience of taking time off work from our demanding jobs, we planned on using a significant portion of the proceeds from our house to pay for professional packers and movers. The price? It wasn't pretty, but we were spending more for convenience and timeliness. What we got was anything but...

Upon packing and moving items from our house, which was set to close two days after the movers came to place the items in the truck, Allied had significantly damaged two sections of my hardwood floor. Their movers also punched a hole in the ceiling. This all happened prior to my buyers coming through for their final walk-through. Unsurprisingly, the buyers were not happy. In addition, despite being on premises during the moving process, the movers never offered a final walk-through and just left. I looked around the house to find they had not moved all my items and had to call to have them return.

I promptly informed Allied of the damages done to the house, which jeopardized the sale of my house (a sale they knew about far in advance), and they proceeded to do nothing. No reliable communication. They didn't even pass along a claims form until days later. Trying to quickly remediate all the damage the movers did to the house prior to close was stressful, exhausting, and further ate into the proceeds we received, and this was just to keep the sale from falling through.

Next up, when we filed the claims form information, we didn't hear anything back for almost a week. And the only reason we heard anything back is because when we received our shipment, the majority of our items had been water damaged. Our couches were so damaged they left them. We only learned about the damage when the truck pulled up to our new, empty house and the movers told us about the damage.

No one knew how the water damage occurred, as it was not raining on the day of the move. No one knew what kind of water damaged the items or how long the items had been sitting, drenched, in the mystery water. We had a lot of pointing of fingers, but no real answers, and most of our earthly possessions were in a state of disrepair or were destroyed entirely. When we called Allied, they did not respond. It took us calling someone involved in their corporate move division to get the ball rolling, and only then did they respond with a lot of incompetence. Incompetence and pure negligence at every turn.

Almost a month out and we still have no mattresses to sleep on, nowhere to sit, no electronics that work, and most of our clothes and linens are in boxes that continue to mold in my new house. Their solution has been mostly to bring in assessors, which requires more time off work for either my husband or me to deal with, whose advice they promptly ignore.

I am so weary, depressed, and exhausted. Not to mention that the molding boxes, which I must keep so that these "assessors" may assess, trigger my allergies and cause coughing spells and a sore throat. I am unable to enjoy my new home. I am stressed beyond belief. This has been among the worst experiences of my life. I hope this story will spare you the trouble, sadness, stress, and inconvenience that my family has undergone in dealing with this company.

I hired Allied moving company to move me January 2020 from Texas to North Carolina. Overall the move went pretty well. I packed everything myself, having said that, once I got to my destination which was North Carolina there were several items broken. I purchased large floor size vases from Europe. Those were broken along with other items and allied sent me a letter after I submitted the claim stating that because they didn’t pack the items they were declining my claim so they paid for a couple of the items that were broken.

What I don’t understand is why would they pay for a couple of items that were broken of which they did not pack and not pay me for all of the items that were broken. That they did not pack...? Sounds like an excuse to not have to pay. They are trying to get over and it’s not right. They Should be held responsible for all the items broken and this is their way of getting out of having to pay the full amount... paying as less possible of course! I’ll never use them again.

Allied Van Lines Canada recently moved my household items across the country. I was initially quoted $5,732.66 for this service. I was then presented with a total bill of $7,723.14 for the cost of the move. Several of my items went missing during the move. Most of these items were just purchased and could not be found and I was not compensated for the loss! At least one item was purchased for $900 several years earlier and can never be replaced! My actual bill (based on weight) increased by 60% from the original estimate. Either the salesperson was incompetent in his estimate or they gave me a low estimate and then once they had my deposit and belongings I had no choice but to pay the invoice. I also noticed my final bill had picked up weight of 32.2 but the drop off weight charges were 40. How did the weight of my belongings increase by 7.8 during transit or was I paying for someone else's stuff? Again I was overcharged. I would definitely not recommend them and give them a negative star rating.

Absolutely unreliable and unprofessional company. Dec 18th they arrived to move the contents of my home. They tell me that they aren’t going to move the entire contents of the house, even though the contract was for the full house. Took 3 hours of arguing with them before they realized they made a mistake and they should be moving the entire content, I’m troubled because I must leave the house by 4:30 pm as the house has been sold and I will be charged money if I do not vacate it by that time.

I’m late on leaving the house. The contract was scheduled for a delivery by no later than the 28th of December. When the truck doesn’t show on the 28th they change the contract for Delivery on the 30th. When the truck doesn’t show on the 30th they changed the contract for delivery on the 3rd. When the truck doesn’t’ show up on the 3rd (it’s broken down on the road). They change the contract on me again for delivery on the 5th. (They have had my cargo for 2.5 weeks at this point.) I get the delivery and a few things are damage and the driver tells me that there is no proof that it was damaged in transit. 2 out of the 3 things that were damaged were packed by the company. I cannot collect on insurance.

I get a call on the 7th telling me that they lost my credit card information and I need to give it to them again so they can charge me for the delivery (the charge was supposed to be done 1 day prior to delivery but their office forgot to do it). I’m having a problem with my credit card because I just moved and changed addressed on every legal document I owed. The credit card was having an issue with double payments to vendors, so it was temporarily on hold while they resolve it. I get another call on the 9th (3 days later) saying that they were going to take my bill that was late of 4 days and send it to collections the following morning. 4 days and to collections? I couldn't believe it. This company was a nightmare to work with.

I've moved many times and because of my experience I knew it was important to go with a credible van company. A non credible company might not deliver your goods anywhere near the date they said they would, would damage your property due to negligent packing, would hire inexperienced, unprofessional people. Allied assured me that I was safe from all of these possibilities. And yet, they committed all of them and much worse than I imagined.

We moved from Los Alamos, NM to Eugene, OR. We were told our shipment could arrive within five days and that they would keep us updated along the way. We would have used this time to vacation along the way to Eugene, but because of the short deadline we skipped out on those opportunities to meet the truck. Ha! The truck did not arrive for three and a half weeks. No one could tell us where it went because, we later learned, they had subcontracted our move out, which I was told in the beginning, they would never do. They did not have communication with the sub contractors for about a week.

As we called and called while sleeping on the floor of our new rental, we were told they "didn't know where our stuff was." This seems hard to believe, but it happened. The man who I initially signed up with stopped taking my phone calls. He also went on vacation a day after we started our move and didn't bother to tell us that or give us another contact. That man was with ABQ Moving and Storage but was a spokesman for Allied.

The delivery drivers were very unprofessional. The pick up driver was supposed to bring us extra boxes and packing material. When I asked him what we were supposed to do since we didn't have these materials and he didn't bring them he said, it was "not his problem, he never received the message." He even griped about the pay and how he had to work so hard. We ended up packing things ourselves within furniture using our blankets and sheets as packing supplies. Three and a half weeks later, I was starting to think our stuff had been stolen. As it turned out, the sub contracting company drove our truck to Arizona and parked it for several weeks without notification or intention to deliver it within the delivery window of two weeks.

We did speak with Allied representatives at this point who said they thought this situation was absolutely horrible and were sorry. They were especially embarrassed when they couldn't tell us where our stuff was. The truck was finally driven and dropped off with another sub contractor who then brought it to our house. The captain of this crew was an old cranky father who continually belabored his staff. It was tiring to listen to him, to say the least. They moved very slowly. We started helping unpack the truck so that we would be done before they day was over. It was summer, so we had long days, but still, they were still at it as the sun was cresting over the horizon.

As they unpacked, they told us over and over what an awful job this was and that we should submit claims. They, too, complained about how little they were paid and how much they were expected to do. Surprisingly, despite the earthquake shattered appearance of the packed walls within the truck, we only lost one piece of furniture; a large wooden file cabinet. Another piece of furniture was damaged, but we fixed it ourselves. Other small things were broken.

I specifically hired this company to be professional. They were the most unprofessional of movers that we have ever seen. We have moved ten times in the past 17 years. We could have hired a bunch of college kids to do a much better job and have paid a fraction of the cost. We paid $10,168. No one called us to apologize. No one reached out at all after we moved in. We had to purchase air beds for four, towels, blankets, everything so that we could camp out on the floor of our rental. This was an absolute atrocity. It was beyond offensive on so many levels and made our lives for three weeks exhausting and demeaning. I actually think we could sue this company and win. Do not use Allied Van Lines. They are distrustful, disrespectful and incredibly unprofessional.

Minnesota to Ohio. We hired Allied Van Lines to move us cross country. Because it was an expensive move, we tried to go with the cheaper option. Allied Vans came in a little less than other companies so we went with them. They loaded all of our stuff into a truck, took it to a warehouse 30 min away, unloaded it, then a few days later put it on a semi truck with multiple customer loads and sent it across country. There is no inventory or chain of custody when they transfer your things.

When they arrive, they tell you when the truck is being unloaded you need to check off the list of everything coming off the truck, what they don't say is that there are 4-5 people moving very quickly and you at the same time have to show them where things go in the house. It is almost impossible to check off every item as they are unloading. Long story short, Allied lost my entire golf set up, all of my clubs, shoes, balls, gloves, etc. It was very expensive. I did not realize this until a few weeks later though. When I called Allied they said, I had signed the papers when they left, so too bad. They basically said it was my fault that they lost my stuff. I tried taking a legal route but still they say too bad. Tldr: I hired Allied, they lost my stuff and took no responsibility.

I have to agree with many of the previous comments and a class action lawsuit against Allied would be appropriate. I had an air purifier that was stolen and based on reading these reviews, I am grateful that's all I lost. I recently moved from Chicago to Arizona and used Federal/Whalen Moving & Storage in Waukegan, IL as the local booking agent. The destination agent was McWhite's North American. The Hauling Agent was TFC, Inc. (afflicted with Federal Peoria) in Overland, MO.

I thoroughly inspected my apartment in Chicago after the Whalen packers left and it appeared that everything was packed. Due to the small size of my apartment, I did not micromanage the packers to see the level of detail they used when completing the inventory. I instructed them to not deflate my air mattress and provided them with the plugs to keep it inflated.

When my goods arrived in AZ, the mattress was deflated and they had a hard time inflating it. The owner/operator who delivered my goods admitted to deflating my air mattress, despite my instructions to Whalen not to do so. He also admitted to opening some of boxes to "make room in the truck." This was apparent when he knew actually what box to open to find dish soap to wash his hands. After spending four days unpacking, I was missing an air purifier that Whalen would have had to put in a wardrobe box. I can only conclude that the Whalen packers or the owner/operator who delivered my property stole my air purifier.

I filed a claim and the claim adjuster Cindy ** informed me via letter that "the carrier has no support on any of the move documents that any items went missing from the shipment based on the signed delivery documents. Therefore, we must decline carrier liability for the claimed missing air purifier. Our records indicate that you opted for a $500 deductible to cover your possessions during your move. As the deductible amount must be met prior to any check issuance, we would have subtracted the $500 from any settlement amount."

In addition to the blatant lying and lack of accountability of Whalen and Allied, I see a moral hazard here. My apartment in Chicago was too small for me to watch the packers so I had no way to confirm that they didn't take something. I also had no way to see that they were accurately listing every item they packed on the inventory. What is to stop Allied packers from not listing an item on the inventory (and many items they tagged were not specifically listed on the inventory) and then steal the item? What is to stop a packer or mover from stealing some items?

Does the $500 deductible for my insurance coverage apply to lost or stolen items? If the deductible applies for lost or stolen items, then it's pretty easy to see how small items could be stolen and then a claim adjuster would say it's not covered because it's within the deductible. That would be quite a scam, wouldn't it? I plan on filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and appropriate state authorities.

Driver hired local day workers who know zip about proper loading to minimize damage and can read the word "fragile" or "glass" on boxes. There was a lot of damage to the furniture that was never resolved with the company. The day workers were paid for the hours or day worked and gone so they could have cared less about causing damage. They know nothing about these people. They are exposing you to who appeared more interested in the electronics and security system than anything else. On the other end of the move, more local day workers were hired. Allied was not the cheapest company by any means of the three estimates I received and their reviews at that time were not mostly one star and definitely not five stars but comparable to the other companies.

I am once again looking for a company to move long distance and reading reviews and see absolutely nothing has changed with Allied. These reviews and pictures are upsetting and should be to Allied Corporate. These people are not professional movers, they are 18-wheel truck drivers who hire local thugs for petty wages and you are going to suffer the consequences. You will not receive compensation for lost/missing items or damage. They did arrive as scheduled and deliver as scheduled but beyond that the move was a disaster with the breakage beginning while they packed. They just don't care about your household goods or hiring qualified people who have a vested interest in minimizing damage. The driver was in such a hurry after the delivery that he quickly initialed the pages (about 10) and asked me to initial. I did not spend time going through all the rooms to check (my fault) but I doubt if the driver would have waited for me to do that. I should not have paid him until I went over the list in detail. Unless you win the lottery and have high tech cameras, cops, attorneys, and 24/7 surveillance watching their every move from the moment they begin barking upon entering your home about what they ain't gonna do: do not engage. In fact, run. They will sign nothing. They will lie, bully, and humiliate you about your possessions then proceed to destroy high-value items even before leaving your home. They will mix your property up with others along the way to your destination without your knowledge. You will end up wondering what the other client has that is not theirs and you will never know.

They will charge you for supplies but it is a lie and they pretend they have integrity and are experts but they will bulldoze using electric drill screws through your high value $16K conference table legs and exclaim ‘it's all just junk anyway.’ They will not communicate with you and they do not communicate amongst themselves. They will dump your auto at some unknown towing company and you will pay to get it out at two weeks later. Every concern or frustration you experience while in their destructive greedy little paws will be met with a unanimously agreed upon story specifically designed around protecting themselves. It matters little that the Andy Warhol Museum is in Pittsburgh. They will mummify your $70K acrylic Warhol in their cheap tape and shove it in a badly damaged cardboard box. None of the boxes contain the items you packed.

They will take three hour super breaks because ‘they earned it.” You will not save money packing items yourself and doing so will only be multiplied with more confusion and stupidity because then every box arrives PBO (packed by owner.) giving them even more freedom to pulverize. Unidentified damaged destruction of boxes will complete the nightmare. A $5K ivory pagoda was reduced to a pulverized mass of dust. There will be no pre or post walkthroughs. If you think they will precisely itemize your property on an inventory list and sign it and then provide you a carbon copy think again. They will forge your 'statements' on their contracts because that gets them off the hook. Their website is a scam. No supplies, no signed contracts, no itemization on boxes marked with items. If they say they can't move something expect your property to be abandoned or destroyed. It doesn’t matter what you record or document or photograph the destruction.

We have moved 17 times since 1964. I think I’m pretty good at it. But this last time was unique. If you are looking for a company that sends a rep to sell you the job and insurance and to estimate your moving costs, who then disappears and lets others tell you the insurance you bought is not what you bought, try Allied Van Lines and their franchised agent, Clemmer Moving and Storage, Inc. out of Telford, PA. This same rep will estimate the weight of your truckload and base the price on that, and tell you that if it’s less upon delivery, you’ll pay less, but never more than the estimate; it sounds good.

But if after you have reduced your belongings and filled an ENTIRE DUMPSTER’s with unnecessary and outdated items, taken all your old documents to a shredding service, because there is way too much for your home shredder; donated 5 large trash bags of clothing and hired a truck just to get saleable items to thrift shops and auctions, and made frantic, last minute calls to neighbors, relatives and friends who were buying or taking furniture and art that had not sold, your weight load is identical to the original estimate, you must have hired Clemmer Moving and Storage. They miraculously produced a weigh bill saying your scaled down belongings weighed on the day they were delivered, exactly the same as the rep’s estimate. (No reduction in price for it weighing less, but just as promised – no more.)

If you’d like to be enlightened by opinions the driver expresses about your goods, ask for ours…Ben. He told us frequently we had an awful lot of books and pictures. He pointed out we had too much when he ran out of his ‘extra’ boxes. (Luckily he had no trouble using ours, along with our tape.) He also reminded us what a fabulous job he and his crew were doing considering the difficulties our condo presented in getting all our many items from our door to their “inconveniently” parked truck. It’s true.

They had no trouble whisking away things we specifically told them we needed to take in our car. As my husband and I collected ourselves after the Clemmer crew of Allied Van Lines pulled away, those ‘excluded’ items were gone, not to be seen again for months. During that day, we passed from room to room trying to throw away items that were not only heavy, but not really needed in our new location. Miraculously, they showed up anyway upon delivery.

Our driver carefully assessed everything his workers took out to the truck and recorded his expert opinion of its condition, in code, on the “descriptive” inventory list. He informed us how small a percentage of his customers actually cared about the numbered stickers movers put on the furniture and boxes and their relation to the numbers on the “descriptive” list. When any of the stickers fell off the furniture and boxes, before they were out the door, he tried to calm us with the informed advice that it was really nothing to worry about. If you want a company that soothes your silly concerns, call Clemmer.

When the packing and loading by Clemmer Moving and Storage workers ran late because of our long condo hallway and the walk to his truck from the elevator, Ben urged us to hurry and sign his forms without troubling our eyes by reading them and assured us that he and his expertise would probably be bringing our things from storage in a few months and delivering them safe and sound. Not to worry.

And he was right! In a few months he was the one to deliver our things. The first of many surprises was the appearance of a very large leather cushion with a fabric back. It showed up in the same trip from the freight elevator and trip down another long hall (which the dispatcher [again] did not tell our beleaguered driver about) with two yellow table legs. They were thick and shaped in the Early American tradition. Our things are modern. I told him I had never seen them before, but the driver assured me they were mine, and that I should think about it and try to remember them. He was probably just helping us to recall our own items, but he finally gave in to our entreaties to take them away.

That day, just before all Clemmer’s men left we realized we were missing a floor lamp and our cocktail table that matched our end table. Ben wondered if we were sure. But he did reassure me that I could claim insurance on anything we could prove missing or damaged. One example: We had two floor lamps in our living room. They were both plugged into an outlet, operated from a wall switch. For 11 years, they sat untouched. They were out of reach of a vacuum cleaner and no one even had to lay a finger on them to light them. And yet they were marked, in code, as being “marred, contents and condition, unknown.” In fact, all 7 of our floor lamps were identically described. Such detailed care is hard to find these days.

Of the 6 that got delivered, 4 were leaning quite noticeably to the side or bent in the middle and a fifth one had an irretrievably broken bulb receptacle and shade. I got very good at reading the condition codes when looking carefully at the inventory sheets during our insurance claim process. But the Clemmer driver did not want to bother us with looking at codes during our stressful days of moving out and moving in. In fact, he tried to save us from trying to record the inventory numbers (if they were still affixed) from the boxes and furniture as they were carried in, because it was just “a useless waste of time. No one else does it.”

Condition codes make it difficult to prove damage when you make an insurance claim for your carefully cared for belongings if you sign the inventory sheets (saying you verify those condition codes) before the Allied Van Lines movers leave you for good. Just wait until you read how many of your things were st-stained, so-soiled or m-marred when you take the time to decode and apply those conditions to your tables and cabinets and even your mattresses. Ben told us they were late getting back to their base and urged us to sign quickly while regaling us with stories of his upcoming vacation and introducing the guy who unloaded the truck while others carried items in. After all, he was the Ben’s son and he came up just to meet you (before you handed out tips). They might as well have said, “Don’t think, just sign while we distract you.”

Back at the home office of Clemmer Moving and Storage weeks later, they were MORTIFIED that their employees were so unprofessional. To be helpful and “up to their usual highest standards,” they advised us to make our insurance claim as soon as possible. Did they mean well and want to help us get a settlement check quickly? No. We learned claiming too early can actually reduce your claim. Find out how long you have to assess your loss and/or full damage.

What we learned: 1) When asked to sign, write clearly on the inventory sheet that you have not yet checked the presence and condition of listed belongings and your signature is conditional. 2) Don’t make any claim in haste. 3) Unpack and inspect everything before making a claim. 4) Make lists. List what is damaged. List what is missing. Try to match everything to the number on the inventory sheet! This is mandatory information you will be asked for…the numbers on the sheet relating to your belongings! 5) Give yourself time to remember everything you had! The sculpture you got from the artist is not the first thing you look for in the early weeks of getting your new home in order. But then it’s missing. How about the heating pad and blood pressure cuff not often used from the back of your closet?

    6) Get today’s replacement costs BEFORE you price your damaged or lost items in your claim. What you paid 10 or 15 years ago is not going to buy them today. 7) DO NOT clean or fix anything before the insurance adjuster comes to see them. Replace them or use them in their delivered condition, if you can, and wait for the insurance company to send their adjuster. If you can’t show the adjuster their condition when they arrived, you HAVE NO CLAIM. 8) Read reviews online!!!

Just as the people who owned the 2 yellow table legs and leather cushion must still wonder where they are, so are we wondering how we can have the glass from our coffee table and no table. Who has our sculpture? Why are our upholstered dining room chairs so filthy? Why did our mattress topper and mattress cover arrive torn, smeared with something black and still on the mattress, none of which were packaged? Where are the casters from our bed?

True to their promise, and against all odds, the crew from Clemmer/Allied actually did unload and deliver all 8000 of our pounds (which impressed upon us many times) in one day. We do believe the building manager who told us she saw our unwrapped floor lamps being thrown from one worker to the other as they rushed to unload the truck. (Bent poles? Scratched bases?)

After all, our things were moved from our condo to a storage facility. Then they were taken two months later from the storage facility and delivered to our new apartment in another state. Can you blame Allied Van Lines agent Clemmer Moving and Storage from Telford, PA for losing and damaging so many items that are taking us weeks and weeks and weeks to claim for, replace and have cleaned? Yes. So… If you enjoy shopping for endless hours online and more in stores, waiting days for deliveries, filling out pages of insurance forms and “chipping in” to buy items you used to own, call Clemmer. It’s an experience.

We had moved from Tacoma, Washington to San Antonio,Texas. I had received multiple bids and Steve ** from Allied van lines seemed the most knowledgeable and fairly priced. House was officially sold on the 27th and Movers picked up household goods the morning of the 27th. They used my dolly as one of theirs was inoperable. They packed/loaded all my household goods into a 28 foot box truck.

*All of my household items were packed over a course of 5 months - all items were disassembled and packed with care: no rush was taken in packing of any household goods. Household goods were told to be delivered between the 2nd and 14th of July. No word was given by call or email to me for updates, or status of my household goods. I had to email and call Shelly myself to find out anything on my goods. I had a delivery date of the 12th then the 14th, and then the 15th, and it changed again to the 17th of July.

The delivery of our household goods was a nightmare. Most boxes were crushed, damaged to include our new (less than a year old platinum beauty rest mattress). Our other mattress was ripped out of its protective bag, and folded in half. Most boxes were very detailed of contents and if glass, fragile, etc. over 100 + Boxes (60 documented on paper as delivery driver told me not to record on paperwork and to call company directly; which cause some to not be recorded) showed excessive handling, damage, and disregard for personal property. I spent the time to document, take pictures, and record on paper what was damaged. Some items like wife's grandmother's items were smashed to pieces and cannot be replaced, and have been hard to put a numerical value to.

On Sunday 7/21 I spent 4 hours submitting a very detailed description on items damaged, to include box number, description of box, item whether it was broken, smashed, scratched, dinged, box item number, color, size, style, and material description. I submitted the document and received an email about 5 emails of pictures received not of claim items.

After I have not heard anything for 8 days I had called and was told that my claim needs time to be reviewed. I was told who my claim rep was and that she would be getting ahold of me soon. I agreed and almost another week had passed till I called and had to get in contact with them by myself. I had a conversation with the individual and was told that there was excellent documentation, and pictures to back up my claim, they accepted responsibility for most items to include brand new dented tool box, both king size mattresses, my missing items (dolly, ladder, etc) stolen ? and would be finalizing this after it gets ran past the manager.

Another week goes by, I email asking for a status update and told they would reply to my email that they seen Friday (8/9/19) and reply to it by COB(Monday (8/12/19). It is Wednesday now (8/14/19) and I have received an email: "Mr. Ruby, While I appreciate the time and effort you went to to provide photos, I will still need to have our repair firm inspect the transit related damage and they will be contacting you for an appointment. The firm is "omitted" and should you need to contact them directly they can be reached at XXX-XXX-XXXX. Sincerely, "Omitted" Allied Claims Dept.- Wed 8/14/2019 5:51 AM"

The company is hard to get in contact with. I had then called Allied Van Lines again asking for a manager, as I have been more than patient and courteous. I spoke to Jill from the CEO branch Fort Wayne. Still no resolution to my claim. My advise is to go with a different company that does show care as allied motto is " the careful movers" V/r Richard **

I cannot stress enough how dissatisfied I am with Allied Van Lines. I used them to move from Texas to Colorado. I cancelled my original contract with another moving company and signed with Allied Van Lines because the window of delivery for the first company was very large. Even though the quote from Allied Van Lines was much higher than the others I received, I decided to go with Allied because they are a supposedly reputable company and offered a reasonable guaranteed delivery date window.

Once my family’s belongings were picked up, I did not receive any information or updates as to where the van was for quite some time. The great service I had received up until pick up had disappeared once they had our belongings in their possession. No one was able to get a hold of the driver and no one knew where our belongs were. We later found out that our belongings were literally sitting in a warehouse for an entire week before the moving process began. I am a physician who already started working in Colorado. My wife is a nurse still working in Texas and we have a child. Allied Van Lines was less than apathetic to the fact that we lead very busy lives and need advance notice and coordination for the delivery of our stuff. Before I signed with Allied, they ensured that the guaranteed delivery date window was accurate and Allied would cover any cost incurred due to their fault of late delivery.

Our belongings arrived days and days after their guaranteed delivery date and we were informed that we would not be paid for the costs that were caused by their fault. They offered $100 for each day after the latest “guaranteed” date which is a fraction of a fraction of what I paid for their supposed professional and excellent service. By that point, I had began working and my family and I were sleeping on the floor of our home. My wife was scheduled to return back to Texas to start working again and our belongings were still not delivered. I was still working. My mother-in-law who had come with us to help us move in had to change her flight to a later date so that someone would be available to accept delivery.

Of course, Allied did not offer to cover any of those expenses. What’s worse is that they would not settle on a specific new date of delivery so we had to address this issue every single day and plan accordingly. Allied Van Lines did not even have the correct delivery date on delivery day. They had told me that our belongings would be delivered the next day and told my mother in law they would be delivered that day. Once the truck finally arrived at our house, they were not adequately prepared. They knew our home was on a small road and an 18-wheeler would not fit on that road. It was written in their notes. The delivery driver had no clue of this situation which delayed delivery hours while they scrambled to find a smaller truck to load everything onto to transport down the street.

Consequently, the movers were very rushed in placing our things. Furniture was placed in the incorrect room and some furniture had been haphazardly placed upside down or on its side. Even then, the disappointment still did not stop. Some items were broken and were placed in positions to hide that fact. I have only seen similar behavior by a child trying to foolishly hide their mistake. For example, a leg of a night stand was completely broken off. What Allied Van Lines did was place the nightstand in the closet of the bedroom and place the nightstand upside down so the legs were facing up. They then placed the leg back in its place resulting in it falling apart only after I moved it.

My wife and I talked to customer service many times and they were very rude to both of us. I can honestly say that I have not encountered such rude and apathetic customer service employees in my life. They made absolutely no attempt to ameliorate their many mistakes. They may have swindled me out of my money, but I have spoken to my hospital’s recruiting department who constantly has new physicians moving into the area and have advised them not to recommend and in fact, recommend against, Allied Van Lines. Similarly, I strongly encourage you to not use or at least strongly reconsider using Allied Van Lines for your next move.

I and my wife used Coleman services to move from Texas to Maryland in May 2019. All we can say is that we are very disappointed by the quality of service provided. Coleman was one of the most expensive moving companies we considered and we decided to go for it to avoid issues for which cheaper companies are generally known for. Sadly, the actual moving process was a disaster:

The movers for the pickup showed up late, understaffed and unfit to the job: they just could not carry the boxes down the stairs (we lived on the 3rd floor) and I had to assist them, carrying myself about half of the boxes. They also did not bring enough wrapping material, ending up wrapping partly the furniture into paper, but promised that the furniture would get wrapped into moving blankets once they reached the warehouse and before departure to the destination. This was a lie since, at delivery, all furniture was wrapped in the exact same condition. Of course, most of them got damaged during transport.

We could also have a look inside the truck and it looked like all boxes had just been tossed around, definitely not piled up the way they should. About half of the boxes were upside down (and I can confirm that they were loaded upright during the pickup). Some items contained in the boxes got damaged as well. Even worse, our furniture and boxes were mixed up with another delivery, which made the delivery a pain since I had to confirm, one by one, which furniture was mine and which was not. In the end, we were missing an item, which got brought back to us about 2 weeks later.

We complained to the customer service but were not interested to file a claim for damages since none of our pieces of furniture were of real value. Getting some money back for replacing the damaged parts are not worth it, taking into account the troubles of driving to the store to get the parts, unassembling the furniture, then reassembling it. We asked for a partial refund that was denied without any discussion. Oh well, lesson learned.

Movers told us the packers should have filled boxes more so when they were stacked, they wouldn't get crushed. Also a lot of items were broke. Things were just thrown in the boxes. Lamp shades were put in boxes with other heavy items & they were dented. My Father was a mover for 25 yrs. I know how boxes are supposed to be packed. I read on their website how the packers are trained. Well after paying $400 for them to pack & our experience, I would not recommend Allied packers. There is a $500 deductible. When he arrived, he couldn't backup to the storage unit so I had to rent a larger one so he could get there (only one left). When the three man crew started unloading, they wouldn't slow down so I could find and check off the item. After two hours of trying to check off items, I gave up.

We left everything in storage until we bought our house. When we finally emptied the storage unit into our garage, we found a lot of crushed boxes and totes with broken covers. What we didn't find was a brand new 4000 generator and two one of a kind antique painter ironing boards. When I put in a claim, for only the missing items--the Allied agent in Pa said we probably packed the broken totes wrong. I put in a claim within the nine months allowed but I was told the claim was denied because I did not check the items off as they came off the truck. On the day the packers were to arrive, my sister (who had flown in from Maryland to assist) called to ask where were they. The office was contacted and no one knew about the move...it had not been entered into the scheduling computer. Well that was a fine note. Having flown my sister to town; had flights set the following evening for my sister and mother to fly to South Carolina, it was going to be an issue making adjustments. After several hours for various phone calls with a staff that was mildly rude, it was determined they would send a packing crew and transport crew at the same time. So the following day both crews arrived.

The truck was in a hurry as they were already scheduled and this was an extra job that was holding them up. Items were packed and carted straight to truck. After the last boxes were loaded, my sister was trying to confirm the manifest...but the truck had already left! Flights were taken as planned and the delivery crew arrive within the requested window. Early on a broken lamp was noted. With no listing for the number of boxes or what was in them, we could not verify that everything arrived. The carrier insurance (we took the full policy) was contacted. They said we had a year to file any claims, so unpack as time allowed. My Mom's new space was approx 40% of what she had, so unpacking and finding space/places for things too several weeks. Multiple items were missing, but only one item (Stiffel lamp) was damaged.

Fast forwarding 8 MONTHS, we received a payment for the lamp that will not cover repair or replacement. The insurance agent told us we needed to count every box and itemize packed goods before the truck left. Now how was that to happened when you (Allied) forgot about our move? The crew was rushing to get out...we were not allowed on the truck...we tried to get an inventory but they had already left. Bottom line, she is out lost goods (my sister agreed to a modest sum much to my mother's disagreement just to get this ended), but Allied rejected the claims. My Mom got moved. It was costly, both the move and lost/damaged goods. I would not recommend Allied/Coleman. The long-haul driver was a no-show on our scheduled pickup day. Two days before the end of our contracted delivery window, we received a call that our possessions were in Kansas because they had been stored quite a while in Chicago. When we reminded them that we didn't have to pay if they didn't deliver on time, they found a way to meet the deadline but it involved a crew unloading at our new home until nearly 11 pm. That crew tried to get us not to check off each item, which is good because several were missing (including some that the crew knew were missing because those items were never loaded in Chicago). Several other items were broken.

Then we had to start the claims process which was horrible. The claim adjusters' job seems to be to avoid paying replacement value claims. They have a bunch of schemes. One was to find a cheap knock-off of something we owned and only offer us the price of that. Another was to claim that our possessions were old and had depreciated (their 'tariff', the regulatory document that governs interstate transport, states that depreciation is not a factor for replacement value). Yet another was to claim that there's a low limit on damages for self-packed boxes (the tariff does have a limit, but it's $2500 or higher depending on box size). Ultimately we had to file a lawsuit to recover. That's what it took to recover the full amount due to us.

Completely inept after the initial estimate and packing group. You don't send a 2/3 full truck to pick up contents of a 4500 sq ft home. Driver refused to accept the fact that there was no way it would fit. Driver had no tools or dolleys, and was completely unprepared to move gun safes that were clearly on the estimate. Driver refused to call for second truck, which they conveniently call "overflow", until mid-day Saturday during an Alabama football game (of course there are no drivers available on a Saturday).

Original driver who is not qualified to work at a McDonalds finally took his semi trailer back to yard in Huntsville and picked up a local truck to finish loading. When returning to HSV with the "local" truck, it was evident that he had no help unloading it, as many of the boxes and items were damaged (we suspect that they were tossed off the truck, as the items were packed well and many dishes shattered). Unloading, the same driver still had no tools or dolleys, and we had a local safe mover handle the gun safes again. Completely inept. Driver stomping around acting like he was doing us a favor.

After numerous phone calls and misinformation from even Vice Presidents over the course of the next 27 days, we finally saw our "overflow" shipment arrive in a condition that was completely horrible. The overflow driver stated that the condition of the boxes received were damaged before he picked them up from the HSV warehouse. Yes, many items damaged, not finished fighting with claims for damages yet. If you can, avoid at all costs. The icing on the cake is the fact that this poor excuse for a company can't even process credit cards properly. The entire move was paid for in advance, but they failed to process one of the payments. This has resulted in several collection letters and phone calls. The final payment due to their error was made today, and I received notification of another fun certified letter coming in the mail today. Maybe I should have waited 27 more days to pay.

I was promised that all sort of property protection would be in place before anything was moved. IT DID NOT HAPPEN ON EITHER END! No runners were put on the floor until the red mud was on the new white carpet. The personnel tried hard to pretend to be cautious and attentive. When the loadout crew was moving furniture from the upstairs floor I looked up and one guy was sliding our furniture down the carpeted staircase by himself, and another guy was twisting and turning furniture on our bare hardwood floor with no protection under it. We moved into a new facility with red mud all over the walkways which was then tracked into the facility because the driver parked the truck door opening at a newly planted grass area which was only about 5/6 ft. from a sidewalk. They later realized after marring their blankets in the mud that we should move the truck.

Several pieces missing and broken. This was on Dec. 3 2018 and after phone calls I still do not have a printed receipt, or paperwork to file a claim. The salesman talks and shows a beautiful picture but the follow-up, and work was terrible. I would recommend searching other companies' reviews before deciding on this Co. I thought Allied had a better reputation than to have it marred with such lousy workmanship. I would recommend to Allied corporate that they show all the employees the little beautiful book that the salesman uses to entice sales of their services, the employees are not following the sale protocol as promised in the presentation. And so far as my move coordinator she has totally forgotten how to follow up as promised when she first made contact with me.

Consider yourself warned. Moved from Napa Valley to Salem, OR on 10/30/2018. Driver arrived on time. We had everything packed and in the driveway except for the larger pieces. Three staff took 12 hours to load a 2 bed, 2 bath mobile home. They fought verbally the entire day. The driver threatened to drive away and not complete the move. It was extremely uncomfortable and counter-productive. The truck they brought couldn't hold everything so a second, smaller truck arrived. The first truck and its driver departed and left two staff to fill the smaller truck. The original truck arrived in OR on the designated date and a terrific pair of guys unloaded. While they were unloading, Allied called and wanted our credit card number to pay the balance due. We gave it to them. We asked the driver when the second truck would arrive and he told us to "contact Allied for that information".

When we called Allied they told us it would be here the next day. Well... two weeks later we have no information on the second truck. Allied says it is impossible to tell us when we will receive our belongings and we have no idea where they are. After speaking no less than 6 times with managerial reps we have been told we would receive a $500 discount and we would be reimbursed up to $300 for items we need to purchase (they can't deliver my belongings - what makes me think they're going to reimburse me money???). My husband's clothes, coats, boots, pots, pans, pantry items, bedding, towels, vacuum cleaner, toaster, coffee maker and microwave oven are on that truck. They broke my TV stand and just wrote in "broken leg" on the form after the fact. We asked them to cover our staircase to avoid damage, and they refused, insisting that "they've done this before". The very first item they brought downstairs, they didn't tape the drawers shut, one flew open and fell over the banister, crashing on the floor below. Our staircase and that item were damaged.

They were completely disrespectful toward our home and privacy. They went into our kitchen and helped themselves to drinks, never asking for permission. They left our bathrooms a mess. It will take us days to clean up after them and have the house reasonably presentable for the new homeowners. When we told the movers that a certain piece of furniture came apart to be transported, they ignored us and insisted they couldn't move the piece, telling us "we should have sold it". We had to literally show them how to do their jobs, dismantle the item, and do the work ourselves. The truck came late and it took over 10 hours for them to do their job. They ignored our "FRAGILE" signs on our boxes and dumped them under heavy items. They banged into our walls and left dents. I can't help but feel insulted by this whole experience. The packers missed drawers of items that were not packed and yet packed lots of items that should not have been packed (including new owner's mail & boxes new owner had stored that we had clearly labeled not to move). Even worse, the driver and loaders missed an entire section of the basement so roughly 10-12 boxes/bins of Christmas decorations, etc. were left behind. The driver was shown this area in the initial walkthrough but did not load it. The driver was supposed to inventory and sticker every item upon arrival but did not do so for most items until loading. Therefore this area was missed by driver and my wife in pre-departure walkthrough.

When made aware of this situation, Victory claimed that this was not their responsibility at all since we had missed it. To top it all, the driver arrived a day early and pushed us to allow the unloading since he had already hired help for that day even though the contract said the next day. Our contractors were still working on much of the house so most of our belongings had to be placed in the garage instead of the house, forcing us to move them later. Bottom line: mistakes happen in every move, but look for a company that will stand behind their commitments and their work. Victory Van Corporation, and apparently Allied do not.

I know moving is terrible. I know they don't arrive on time. These movers, Allied Van Lines, hire sexist management who treat their workers AND customers horribly. I heard my drivers getting yelled at by their manager TWICE, without the phone even being on speaker, to get me to sign a BLANK contract. Blank, I'm assuming, so the manager could fill out whatever he wanted and make me pay who knows what! The driver gave me a courtesy call the day before he was coming to give me the time frame he'd come by for, so I had his number. We spoke a couple of times before he arrived as the time kept getting pushed back due to his other jobs. When the movers got to my place, they had not weighed their payload. I was told by my contracting company they would have weighed it beforehand.

So I called the manager at Allied Van Lines. He blatantly lied to me claiming the driver hadn't been on any other jobs that day and that we should use the weight of the truck from the day before. He told me I was mistaken that the driver had been doing other jobs that day. Basically, he wanted me to pay for the weight of my total plus two other people's totals! AND he wanted me to sign a blank contract! He told me to calm down and used girly pet names for me like I'm a child. I found him to be VERY condescending, and I wasn't even yelling at this pig. He then claimed that my 1 bedroom apartment would be cheaper to do by volume and not by weight. My contracting company stated my job was to be done by WEIGHT and not by volume as volume is much, much more expensive.

The manager lied to me again, stating that going by volume is cheaper. I did the math according to our contract, volume would have been 300-500$ more. This man, ASAF is his name by the way, should be fired for being a patronizing, abusive con man. I'll update if they actually come and pick my stuff up and complete my order. I'm so glad I have a 3rd party contracting company to help me get this swindler to actually do his job. I really hated being treated like an idiot because I'm female. When requesting a refund the response from Coleman was: "Any changes to the quote or pricing have to be done prior to the move taking place. Once everything is loaded and moved the price is locked. I am sorry Charlotte but there's really nothing we can do after the fact. Thank you,"

My reply was, "Wow really? We believe you said there was no need to let you know when we added or removed from the original quote. It would be adjusted after it was picked up and weighed. So if we added the rest of our furniture from the 2 rooms and the television we said we weren't taking we could have really got a deal! That just doesn't sound right." I never received any more communications from Allied. Not happy with Allied at all.

We discovered that 6 boxes and a garment bag were missing after our move from WV to Maine. I made a very detailed honest claim of items that never made it to Maine, as I had packed the boxes myself. After filing the claim, Allied Van Lines refuses to be accountable or reimburse us for the loss. They pack three households into one large moving van, and hire locals to help them unpack. It is impossible to keep track of 4-5 men hauling in boxes into several doors of the house. It's only until months later you discover the missing items. The tone of their rejection letter was basically calling us liars. They are the ones who are thieves and liars.

The move just won't end. Cannot begin to comprehend the experience we have had on this our fifth move with Allied Van Lines. Never had a problem - until now. First the agent overestimated the weight so that they could overcharge us. Their customer service representative even admitted the weight overcharge resulting in nearly $1000 of necessary overpayment to receive our belongings. Packing was a joke. The agent promised to be onsite during the packing and loading. Never saw him after signing the contract. Packing was precarious with minimal protection for our belongings even though my husband called them out on it during loading. Damage to the house we were moving out of - gouge on every stair of our staircase and the wall.

Belongings took a week longer to arrive than promised and they never called to let us know they were arriving. Several items damaged. Claims rep more interested in pointing out that our claim never had a correct address listed (but miraculously, the meager check for not even 1/3 of the claim did list our address correctly) rather than diffusing an irate customer by simply further investigating our claim. We are back to waiting for an investigation to our claim because the driver lied and stated that we damaged our own belongings. We have now provided time-stamped photos proving items came off the truck broken. Not holding our breath that this will be resolved to our satisfaction. Will never use Allied Van Lines again and will advise everyone we know and those we do not to never use them either.

The worst was vintage camera lenses that were stolen. The company never called me back despite multiple calls and finally responded to an email but only stated it was not their problem. Also a new soundbar system was also stolen. I also had a new mattress that arrived as though they had unpacked it, dragged it through dirt. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE THIEVES and are completely reckless with your belongings. I am prior active duty and went through several moves with the same furniture and items through 5 moves with no problems. Their customer service was shamelessly unresponsive about the missing items or the destroyed items.

Shady company, use someone else, 0 stars out of 5, where do I begin? Packing took 4 days and could have only taken 3. Overheard movers saying to slow down the packing because they would finish too quickly. They were milking the clock until they had the clock out time they wanted, on their time. I’m sorry, but I thought I was the customer. Multiple furniture items were damaged and scraped including a ripped off chunk of wood on the bottom of one of my dressers. A massive scrape on my entertainment cabinet. Two massive deep scrapes and damaged wood corners of my pingpong table. My husband’s desk had a broken piece of wood that is split in half near the bottom.

Also, my Dyson Vacuum that costs around $800 was completely broken. And a bunch of other little nicks on various other pieces of furniture. Seemed like the movers didn’t take careful care of bigger furniture items. The packers themselves were relatively nice other than they came to work completely trashed from the night before. One man in particular looked like he hasn’t slept in days and was clearly evident he was doing cocaine the night before and most likely the morning of. Another one was still drunk from the night before drinking 2 fifths as one of the movers explained to me.

So if you want functioning alcoholics and cocaine-using degenerates handling your belongings, go ahead. Just very unprofessional. I can see why I had so many careless scrapes on my furniture and walls from boxes and furniture pieces scraping the walls. Not to mention the hardwood floors being scraped to all hell because they didn’t lay down the proper floor protection, and yet alone walk on it.

Also had an item stolen and they deny they stole it. I am a medical marijuana user and had a bong pipe out. One of the packers named Eric **, claimed he could pack it up for me so I wouldn’t have to take it in my car. So I thought, hey one less item to pack in my car! His words exactly “Oh I’ll make sure it’s packed up real nicely for you” with a smug look on his face. I was called downstairs from another packer to check on an item. When I came back upstairs, the item (bong) was gone so I just assumed he took care of it and packed it (but he really just stole it for himself and probably put it in his car while I was downstairs).

Fast forward to when I unpacked everything, that particular item was nowhere to be found. I emailed Allied to report the several damaged items and my missing pipe. They emailed me back saying they have no idea where the bong is and then proceeded to explain that they’re not allowed to pack paraphernalia on the truck and that it was my responsibility to have packed it. So why didn’t they tell me this in the first place? First of all that’s basically an excuse to just steal that item. It's 2018, that pipe can be said to be of tobacco use and you can still move it. I’m not stupid. So from what I take it, is that pipe never made it on the truck and was just basically stolen from the guy that packed it for me.

Now onto the damaged items. I was never asked what package of insurance I wanted for my furniture in the instance that if they were damaged how I would be reimbursed. So when I sent in the pictures of all my damaged furniture and belongings, I was sent back that I would be compensated by the weight of the items and not the actual value of said items. So for my $800 Dyson vacuum they said it was 35lbs and that I would only get $21 for it to be fixed… I’m sorry but that is not how it works. That is completely undermining the value of the product that should have never been broken in the first place if it was properly taken care of. And the response was that the basic packaged that I picked and it’s based on weight of the item and not the value.

So I basically only get $400 back when the damages were around $1,500+. Just very poor customer service. I was never given the option of what package to pick for damages. So moral of the story, if you like to be taken care of, pay more money and go with another company that has competent movers that are willing to actually take care of you. I’ll never use this company again as it was a nightmare and the simple fact that if they’re willing to steal an item and not acknowledge it, then what else did they steal that I don’t know about. The half owner of the company doesn’t even care what just happened to me. If the owner doesn’t even care, that is all I need to know why I received the incompetent care that I did. I just don’t want other people to have to go through what I have in the future.

Nevertheless, couldn't buy the home without clothing to go there and luggage, so had to have my belongings returned and OMG, already suffering from acute depression. What they put me through put me in the hospital. What did come back many of my family heirlooms were destroyed and cannot be replaced, along with a lot of my belongings didn't even come back. It is obvious to me they have thieves working for them because you don't lose sets of items like 2 antique chairs, 2 gold floor vases, a set of brand new luggage never opened and the list goes on and on. They did not put the items they took apart back together but left them all over my house to dodge and all the pieces to a lot of these things are nowhere to be found.

The person JENNY ** who represents taking care of these problems is a joke. She sent me a check for $198.00 and stated that the 12 foot extendable ladder was dismissed (really) it's not here replacement is $200.00, the child's rocker, 36 yrs old I hung on to to pass to my daughter's children is ruined and she said that is dismissed. That it was already like that - REALLY- that's why I paid to move it and store it, I DON'T THINK SO! Along with the so many other problems I still have yet to finish opening up all the returned boxes because every time I do there are broken items I can't replace and it depresses me too much for me to handle. This is just the tip of the iceberg for me. My list of complaints I could write all day. I will come back to add order number and images and receipt. It will blow you away.

The movers were very slow and did not communicate well with each other. The next day when we were cleaning the house after truck was loaded, we discovered a huge hike and crack in one of the walls which someone put a tape over - as if we wouldn't notice!!! Obviously accidents happen, but to not say anything, then try & cover up is not acceptable. We were then asked to print and file a claim - in the middle of a move trying to find a printer, etc. Plus the new owners had to deal with this as they moved in. Then, as our furniture arrived in our new home, things were broken or chipped. What a nightmare!!! No one from Baileys bothered to even follow up after the move - wish we withheld payment. So disgusted.

We have a 20 year old daughter with Prader-Willi Syndrome, so we knew we had to plan our move to go as smoothly as possible (due to her anxieties). For this reason we gave our Allied our belongings three weeks before the desired delivery date (Move - September 26 from BC, Canada, to Chester, NS, Canada October 17th). Brian **, Allied's Sales Manager, assured us there would be NO PROBLEM meeting our required dates! Unfortunately only 1/2 of our household items arrived October 17th - the rest were still in BC! We had no living room furniture, no bath towels, no kitchen supplies (plates, utensils, pans etc.). Allied assured us they would expedite our belongings in BC - 10 DAYS later (and only after we had to pay in full or they wouldn't unload the truck) the rest of our belongings arrived.

Although Brian ** assured us he could coordinate our move across Canada and answer any questions along the way, he refused to answer any of our calls during the move. Our tv unit, couch, antique sideboard, and chair were broken. The top of my husband's desk is missing and the hardware for his chair is also missing (although the chair left our condo in one piece). Three boxes were (still are) missing, and many had holes in them. We are currently in the claim process; however everything had to be initiated by us - lots of calls and emails. No rush on Allied's part since they had already been paid!!

Word of caution... We filled out our claim online and it said a copy would automatically go to our email. It never did! Please take pictures of your claim (online) BEFORE you hit send. It is always important to have a copy of what you submitted. Although we were assured Allied is endorsed with the BBB, we were informed that Allied refused to answer our complaint, and since they are not affiliated with the BBB there was nothing the BBB could do. We also filed a complaint with CAM. They did respond; however it didn't seem to make much of a difference.

I used Allied for my move from Montréal to Toronto and this is the worst decision of my life. In the beginning I was very careful to quote specifically what I was moving and even tried to weight or research the weight of my items first so I would have the most accurate quote without surprises in the end. The agent (Michael) was nice to me and wrote every step of the way. At that point I was happy of the service provided. Fast forward moving day, the movers came almost 2 hours late and came with a sheet/form with a minimum amount established already for 4,850 lbs (we quoted 2,000 lbs). I’ve called the company, talked to Michael and after arguing for half an hour and the intervention of his supervisor, they dropped the minimum to 4,500 lbs. This was more than the doubles of what I’ve budgeted but I couldn’t do anything because they were already there and the move was already scheduled.

This was Wednesday September 15th, 2017 and I was supposed to receive the stuff the Saturday 16th after 10 when I booked the elevator. I talked to them several times in Friday because they wanted me to guarantee that I had the money and they called and called until I confirmed the draft from the bank. Every time that they called I was clear about the truck being here after 10 because in the building they didn’t allow movers before that time. Surprise, surprise on Saturday they showed up at 9:15 am and wanted me to charge me for the 45 minutes wait, which I didn’t accept because I told them several times. After 10 they moved everything up to the apartment but again I was furious when discovered a lot of my belongings broken and even missing.

It was like it was handled in a garbage truck. It was awful. All dishes, cups, glasses, everything broken. A chest of drawers completely destroyed. My baby’s swing was garbage, the headboard of my bed frame missing with all the screws, everything filthy, it was a nightmare! I complained and they treated me like trash. They told me to filled out the form for the claim and that it would take from 4 to 6 weeks to have the reimbursement. It’s week number 8 and I haven’t heard from them. I am seriously considering of suing. I gave one star but should have given nothing. Tried to find in the “invoice” that I have over here the order number but it has nothing.

We requested either a Friday or Saturday pick up and were informed that for a pick up to happen on a Saturday we would be charged overtime. The driver informed us a Saturday pick up did not incur overtime charges. We informed her that the expected delivery date was moved back one day and she said, via email, that was fine. However she said we would have to pay an additional $200 for driver wait time. This was acceptable to us. The driver arrived one day early and the move coordinator called us and said the driver now wanted $500 to delay delivery by one day. I asked what alternatives there were and she said the driver would drop our goods off at a local storage facility and it would cost over $1,000. We had no choice but to pay the full $500. That's just the beginning...

We requested a refund of $300 and were refused. We contacted Allied and they washed their hands because we signed an approval for the $500 requested by the driver. If the driver would have picked up the personal goods on Saturday we would have only had to pay $200.00 for wait time. We were caught between a rock and a hard place. The local moving company's move coordinator's credibility was zero. Because of this we were required to pay an additional $300. Additionally the Allied driver could not load all our belongings and it took 2 weeks for us to receive the balance of our personal goods. No compensation was offered and our request for compensation was refused.

Two weeks later the items arrived in a different truck. They arrived with the driver and two helpers, one who quit halfway through. They refused to moved one item off the driveway because it was too heavy.

A couple of days later my two sons placed the item where it was supposed to go. The driver stated his instructions were to leave it in the driveway. They arrived without a shipping manifest so we could check off the boxes as they were unloaded and we had nothing to sign. When we finally had unpacked over the next few days there were items broken and missing. We only claimed the missing items which amounted to just about $400. They refused the claim stating the boxes must have arrived and therefore we were not missing anything. I had to go through at least six of their employees and it took two months to get the refusal notice. You will notice on Allied's web page under reviews there are three 5 star ones. A few cartons were wet and my cloth in their stinking, they probably stored it unsheltered somewhere in between. Light stand totally bent, can throw it away. Dirty stuff, white paint and some glue on many of boxes/furniture. So when they dropped the boxes the glue is then on that spot in your new house where they drop the box. It is important to note this is not my first long-distance move, I have moved from Michigan to Oregon and back with another franchise mover and used their storage for three months, almost seamlessly. The packing of our home in Michigan went great, which is why they get two stars, and we were assured our goods would be carefully stored and returned in good order when we found a home in Maryland. The process of moving our goods out of storage was extremely challenging, we agreed to a five-day delivery spread but was asked to accept a sixth day, which we declined, we were told repeatedly that this was out of their control. The driver told us he needed more time because he took the longer route so he wouldn't have to pay tolls.

The movers were to bring our goods between 9 and 10 am but showed up at 1:30 pm. Then it was determined the truck could not make the turn on our street so my husband had to drive the truck driver to a rental facility to get a satellite truck because none of the crew had drivers licenses. When they asked me if the truck could make it to my home, I said yes but I'm not a truck driver and was wrong, I guess no one previewed the road on Google maps.

The crew did not finish unloading until 11 pm and it was chaotic and impossible to control the inventory list of what was coming in the door. Labeled boxes were not put where they were supposed to be (we had labeled the rooms according to the boxes and given the crew a tour prior to the unloading), boxes were visually crushed and the crew was tired, beginning a move at 3 pm was too late and potentially dangerous to the crew. Then, my husband had to drive the satellite truck back to the rental facility and return with the truck driver to do paperwork. Exhausting for everyone but to the crew's credit, they were extremely polite.

Mover packed items were damaged, which we are currently working through the claim process for resolution, and several items are missing... At least the ones we are remembering. When goods are stored for 13 months, it's easy to forget what you had until you have a need for it, so, there could be more things missing that I just haven't realized. The restoration people came today and apparently, I should be grateful that my claims are few because some people have a lot more. Considering how much I paid for the storage and transportation of my goods, I did not find this comforting. Also, when filing claims, I'm supposed to remember when I bought items and how much I paid for them, so if I undervalue in error, does that work against me? And, is it too much to ask to replace what was lost and fix what was broken or damaged?

On the positive side, an excellent repair was made on-site to a coffee table that literally looked like it was dragged on its end across cement, however, I'm still wondering when I'll be contacted about the replacement of my lost items, it's been a few weeks. A survey company, that is likely contracted by the movers called me a day prior to the delivery of goods and wanted to know how my move went, I had to tell the representative no less than five times that my delivery had not yet occurred. I understand this is probably a contracted company, but perhaps their communication needs improvement. So, still in the process of repairing or replacing or being told there's no coverage for that.

We toured the storage facility, and we were sure we would be placing our belongings with an excellent company (Allied/Federal).

Many of our tables, beds, and chairs were disassembled. There was to be a box labeled "parts". Those parts never arrived, so it has been a headache replacing nuts, bolts, and washers. We have one museum quality piece by Fredric Remington that was "crated". The marble base of the statue is now broken. Antique chairs broken… Antique chairs that have been passed down from one generation to the next. Now in disrepair. These folks never took care of our personal belongings. Needed to move from NJ to Florida and decided to use what we thought was a reputable company but not the case with Allied! A Salesman brought very nice brochure with pretty pictures of nice trucks that would be transporting our family treasures to our destination in Florida (salesman name Chris) without any worries. There are firearms involved so we were very particular about using who we thought to be trustworthy (Absolutely Not the case). Pickup day came and a strange looking shipping container showed up at our door with several workers and off our lifelong collection of memories went with promise of delivery in 7-10 days. It is day 12 and no one has called so we've spent the last two days on the phone with Transportation (Cathy) with word that they do not know where our truck is because it was shipped via third party because they were overbooked.

Two days of phone calls to corporate (Samantha & Joshalin) with messages left and no return calls. We finally spoke with a gentleman named Mark ** In operations and they think our belongings were shipped via Rail Road and that they are in some Rail Road yard in Florida. So here we sit waiting by the phone for another day after the agreed drop off date came and went without knowing where our belongings are or whether to call authorities to report firearms missing. It is a frightening experience so far to say the least when a person can buy a box of diapers on the internet and track its shipment but a household full of memories along with a handful of firearms on a tractor trailer can be misplaced and unaccounted for.

There are a number of reviews on this business, so I'll skip the broken furniture, delays, lies, intimidation and threats common throughout. Their customer service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. If you book with them and let them take possession of your belongings, you will regret it. They ignore complaints. They ignore requests for contact. They ignore demands for escalation and resolution. In short, they take your money and then do whatever they want, leaving their clients to swing in the wind. AVOID Allied Van Lines at all costs. Rent a truck. Carry your sofa across the country on your back. Or just leave it behind. You'll be happier when everything is finished.

We suffered an "Oh, we can't get there the day we said we would so you have to burn through your vacation waiting for us to get around to delivering... and buy an air mattress to sleep on." Email AFTER close of business on a Friday (Monday delivery scheduled). We suffered missing furniture with a "not our problem, you signed the form" response followed by months of ignored emails. Move it yourself. Any damage to furniture or bodies will be better than you'd receive from an Allied company.

We contacted Allied Van Lines to request an estimate for our move from Seattle to Athens, AL. The estimator, STEVE **, was courteous and professional. He gave us a bid that was in line with the bids received from other movers. From our research, Allied Van Lines seemed to be a reputable company with generally good reviews so we chose Allied. Everything we signed was an Allied Van Lines document.

When the packing date arrived, the driver, KENT **, and his crew were courteous & professional. We had made arrangements with an auto transport company to ship one of our vehicles. The day after the packing and loading were complete, & before our vehicle had been picked up by the transport company, Kent contacted us stating that the cost estimate had been high; that he could put our vehicle on the van for the original quoted price. That sounded great! No more expense & the vehicle would arrive along with our belongings. We cancelled our arrangement with the auto transport company & drove our vehicle to the location of our van. We left Seattle happy & confident that things would go well. We even highly recommended Allied to close friends of ours who were moving to Las Vegas and praised KENT ** by name.

Two days after leaving Seattle and across the Rocky Mountains, we received a call from a rep of the moving company, ALONDRA **, stating that our vehicle couldn't be transported for the quoted price; that there would be a charge of $1,000 in addition to the $15,000+ we were already paying. We said that was not acceptable; that they must abide by our agreement. They said that wasn't possible; that we should arrange to have the vehicle shipped by an auto transport company. We were hundreds of miles away, had cancelled our original arrangement for auto transport, & had no way to make new arrangements. After arguing back and forth for an entire day, they agreed to load our vehicle & transport it for no additional charge.

We arrived at our new home on June 13. We had been given a delivery date of June 15, but we received a call stating that the van wouldn't arrive until June 20; that they had picked up & delivered an additional load. The van had appeared almost full before our vehicle was loaded. I didn't know how there would have been enough room for another family's goods. We hadn't brought enough clothes to last until the 20th & our washer & dryer were on the van.

When the van arrived, the same packers arrived to unload. Our new home is smaller than our previous home & has much less storage space. Many items had to be placed in the garage, which is much smaller than our previous garage. With 8 rooms of furniture & about 200 boxes, there was little room to walk in our new home, much less room to fully inspect every item delivered & no time or room to unpack 200 boxes & examine the contents. We were also constantly answering the crew's questions about where to put things. We immediately noticed deep gouges on 2 legs of our breakfast table. We pointed those out to KENT ** who later began to apply something to one of the gouges to conceal it. We stopped him, stating that we wanted it to be professionally repaired.

Two days later we left to attend a family reunion in Pittsburgh. We had had little time to inspect all our furniture or unpack boxes. When we returned home, we began to notice damage to several pieces of furniture. We took photographs of each item & filed a claim on ALLIED's claim form. Now, JUDY **, the rep we've been dealing with by phone & e-mail, is stating that the most serious damages are not transit related. I found out that she works for WESTERN, not for ALLIED. The furniture repairman sent to inspect our damages said that Judy was rude to him, was "hard-nosed" & that he was sure we wouldn't be having a problem if we were dealing with SERVA, Allied's claims area directly. He gave me the direct phone number for SERVA.

I contacted SERVA. Their rep, who was very courteous, who was not aware that WESTERN handles claims directly. She asked who I was dealing with. When I said named JUDY **, she said, "Oh, I see the problem." She said JUDY is always rude to her. SERVA can't get involved now that WESTERN has started the claim process. WESTERN's President, PATRICK DiGUILO, won’t return my calls. We're now starting the arbitration process. If we prevail WESTERN will have to pay costs of over $600 in addition to our damage claim. I'm sure they could afford a few hundred extra dollars to repair everything in addition to what they've offered. Why go thru this hassle?

Allied Claims (Serva) was very courteous, but they can't get involved since Western Van & Storage is handling the claim itself. Allied was not even aware that Western settles its own claims. DO NOT EVER USE WESTERN VAN & STORAGE OF KENT, WA!!!

They just left it all in one room, boxed completely just thrown somewhere. Also, we paid them the initial amount agreed on, and they took our stuff onto the truck and threatened to keep our stuff and take it with them if we didn't pay them an additional 11,000 dollars. We even provided pizzas and cold bottles of water and music for the workers, and they still took advantage of us like they did.

This was the worst service I have ever received and we plan on suing the company. I would not recommend this company to even my worst enemy. This is a scam company. Not to mention the movers threw around our fragile boxes like they were nothing even though they were CLEARLY LABELED FRAGILE! It was unpacked about two weeks later by professionals that do audio visual installations. After they hung it they discovered a line down the side of the TV and said it was most likely from the TV being leaned sideways against the wall. Allied said that because there was no damage to the outside of the box that they would not pay for it. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ALLIED OR USE THEM AGAIN! My family and I were making a move from Kansas to Virginia, our first big move ever and were a bit oblivious to the complications that came with it. So we decided to trust the professionals with the details, right? Wrong, this company mishandled our boxes and lost over $5,000 worth of our priceless items. My husband received his first ever drum set in high school from his dad worth over $5,000 with adding to the set over the past years. This is a lot of money however, very priceless to my husband because of the history it holds. Allied also lost our vacuum cleaner, broke a lot of our dishes, busted open our punching bag and many other items were broke and lost.

After they delivered our goods, my husband signed the papers but then took one last walk around and noticed his drum set was missing! So he ran out to the truck before it left and asked the driver about it. The driver said "I don't have it, you'll have to take this up with claims, the only thing you can do now is submit a report". So we did just that. However, after two months of the company "searching" for our missing items, they came to the conclusion that our lost items never existed and sent us a check for $36 because of the broken boxing bag.

My 1st experience with Allied Movers in 1991 was positive. They moved us from Ohio to Georgia with very minimal damage and what was damaged they either paid for or had fixed very fast. In March of 2017 we moved from Georgia to Tennessee so I called them again. The agent drove down and generated a very detailed inventory list and came up with a quote on the spot. The surprise was with the insurance. To cover all the contents at a replacement value of $6.00 per pound with zero deductible was almost $800! As we were only allowed a maximum of $5000 for the move from my new employer, we had to take the default insurance of only $0.6/lb.

The movers arrived on the day they were supposed to with two (2) - 28 foot trucks. We had packed all of our belongings ourselves so they basically had to load the trucks. After they had left that afternoon, I spent a lot of time picking up wrappers and banana peels that were left in the yard from their lunch. I also discovered that when they left they had hit my driveway entrance pole that holds my gate, splitting a board, and never bothered to tell me.

The biggest surprise came when they unloaded 4 days later at our new house in Tennessee. We discovered a lot of damage to our washer and dryer, furniture, and various items that were carefully packed in boxes (see photos at the end). I found out that they had offloaded all our things from the 2 original trucks to a 18-wheeler which they drove to a city 20 miles from our house in TN, and then offloaded everything again to a U-Haul rental truck. So all our things were handled 3 times which increases the likelihood of damage. A lady called me from Allied - Coleman to do a survey and I attempted to tell her all that had happened. It was obvious her main objective was that I give her a number from 1 to 5 so she could complete her task and get off the phone.

I filed a claim first on the washer as it was the most expensive item that was severely damaged. This is her response: "At this time I have concluded my review of your claim and arranged for a check in the amount of $60.00 as settlement of your claim and the breakdown is as follows: Washing Machine Max Allowance 200 Lbs. x .60 = $120.00. TOTAL $120.00.

"Our review of your paperwork indicated that you selected 60 cents per pound valuation to cover your possessions during your move. Under this provision, our maximum liability it limited to 60 cents times the weight of your item, the cost of repair, the actual cash value, or the amount claimed, whichever is least. The guideline that is used for the weight of an item is the American Moving and Storage Association Table of Weights and Depreciation Guide. Our accounting department will issue the payment and it will be sent to you separately within 5 to 7 business days. We again regret that you found it necessary to file a claim and apologize for any inconvenience caused."

This was the worst moving experience I have ever had. In retrospect I should have rented my own truck and equipment and hired some of the local youth to help load and unload. I probably would have saved 1/2 the money and had very little if any damage to our things. I would never, ever use Allied Coleman again nor do I recommend them.

All and all, it took about three weeks; and everything seemed okay at first, until they started unloading our things. Two computer monitors cracked screens, three book shelves were completely destroyed and had to be thrown away, several boxes had water damage and a box of cloths had mold growing, we had a bluray player, Kindle, Nintendo DS (with 16 games) and a $200 Lego set missing, they were just gone. And it was obvious someone had rummaged through our boxes because we sealed all boxes with tape but the person just folded the box tops in a criss-cross to close them.

When we made a complaint, I had the misfortune of talking to Tamara ** (the rudest and most disrespectful person at Colonial Van & Storage in Sacramento). She hung up on me in mid sentence in the middle of my complaint. When I called back, she answered the phone again and I demanded to talk to her supervisor (who was conveniently not in that day) and I was transferred to someone else and told I would have to pay them a $500 deductible for the things THEY broke and stole. WTH?!?! Then to add insult to injury, a month later, they "discovered" $600 in additional fees that we needed to pay. I told them to **-off and if they ever contacted me again, they would next hear from me through my lawyer. When we did finally move in April 2016 to our current home we had Berger deliver the remaining of our household goods.

A brief summary: many of the item delivery were damaged and several items were missing. I contacted Berger transfer and storage who provide a very small sum to offset the damages that did not cover the repairs or replacement of the severely damaged items. One chest had missing legs, a part at the seams and broken in half, wash machine scratched with rust marks, the dryer was dented, scratched and front panel loose and unable to reattach, solid oak entertainment center was chipped in several places and the deep freezer was scratched and dented.

The missing items from our move were referred back to Allied movers where the real fun began. Missing item include original artwork, boxes of pans, and a dirt bike. After many phone calls, emails they denied responsibility citing no proof of missing items although these items were written on the household descriptive sheet. We elected to go to arbitration where the mediator only read our responses and did not look at the entire case, including the fact we paid extra for liability insurance. I have read nearly 100 of the 248 complaints posted on this website and share in the frustration and anger with Allied Van Lines expressed by the reviewers. Allied Van Lines: THE CAREFUL MOVERS. Nothing could be further from the truth! In the summer of 2016 I hired Berger Transfer & Storage, agent for Allied Van Lines in Tampa, FL, for my move from Florida to the West Coast. I was lied to by their move consultant, Mark **, about the care (sic) the company would use in handling my household goods and was cheated out of more than $7,000 for the move.

My experience would be too long to post on this website. Suffice it to say that on pick-up day every piece of furniture was wrapped up in blankets, but on delivery day several pieces of furniture had no blankets, were covered in grease and black dust, some had been disassembled and some were dented or severely damaged. They also showed signs of ROUGH HANDLING. In particular, a very expensive, Canadian maple dresser was delivered with the left panel cracked right in the middle. My claim for repair and/or replacement was handled by the Corporate Claims Office in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Thirty days later their inspector came and took note of the items I had listed in my claim.

After 60 days I received a check from Allied Van Lines, a mere pittance which I have not accepted. The dresser was not included: Allied Van Lines would not pay for its repair, let alone its replacement, on the grounds of CLIMATIC CHANGE (sic). Subsequently, I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau (BBB) in Clearwater, FL, which has jurisdiction over Berger Transfer & Storage of Tampa, FL. Again, 30 days later BBB forwarded Berger's response to me, "As an Accredited BBB member... we are sorry to read about... frustration with the claim settlement process... although our office was responsible for the initial handling ... we have not played a role regarding the claim... As a result, it would be more appropriate to file the complaint with BBB in Ft. Wayne."

Berger Transfer & Storage did not answer any questions about the way my household goods were handled, did not acknowledge any responsibility for the damage and chose instead to focus on the claim settlement process. Incidentally, BBB of Clearwater, FL, did nothing on my behalf. Short of bringing a class action suit against Allied Van Lines and its agents nationwide, which in my view would be impossible to win, as consumers we can put an end to this abuse, arrogance and contempt, and hit Allied Van Lines where it hurts the most: its business and its profits. The key words in Berger's response were, "ACCREDITED BBB MEMBER". If you are reading this review, then please join me in contacting BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU in your city and state and DEMANDING that BBB REVOKE ITS ACCREDITATION of ALLIED VAN LINES and OF ALL ITS AGENTS NATIONWIDE. Moved from Nevada to California utilizing Allied/Berman services. Packing up and loading went well and was on schedule. However, original request was for delivery on December 22nd, but Allied had a " two day" window requirement and driver said delivery had to be on the 21st because of other commitments. Our apartment was not going to be available until the 22nd and driver wanted to delivery ASAP. Arrangements were made to put our goods into storage and driver delivered on the 19th.

Unloading was done quickly and no time to cross check inventory which was to have included a 46 inch TV. When our apartment was available, arrangements had to be made for a local mover to move our belongings. At that time, it was found that the tv was missing. A call was made to Allied/Berman at the shipping point and asked if the TV might have been there. Their was response was to contact the claims office. Long story short, the tv was found to still be on the drivers truck two and half weeks after a search was initiated.

Allied wanted to deliver the tv, but I told them I would not accept until I had had an opportunity to check that it had not been damaged. Response was that driver would drop it off and leave and they didn't need a signature. First call notifying of delivery was a few hours before delivery was to be made at approximately 5:30 to 6 pm. Time was not convenient. Driver would be in the area the next day and would try again early in the evening and would call. Call was missed and driver took tv back to warehouse.

I finally told Allied to cx the claim since driver would simply drop it off and not be present for me to check the tv. If it didn't work, I would have to spend considerable time justifying my claim for reimbursement. Although I had taken out insurance, Allied claims representative indicated that there would have to be physical damage to the tv to collect under the insurance. They would have no responsibility if the tv had internal damages. In short, my move with Allied/Berman resulted in approximately $1000 in additional cost for early delivery storage, second mover when apartment became available and a replacement tv.

This company spent three days at our home. The first two days were 3-4 men packing a 3000 square foot house plus garage. The third day was 5 men packing moving truck. We witnessed the missed packing of items and ended up packing ourselves. The truck space we were given was for 20000 lbs and the driver was to put an additional load of 5000 which we felt wasn't going to be possible since we have had 6 previous moves and had filled the trucks completely. Towards the end they were rearranging the load (started at 7 am) and pulling stuff out into the rain. Finally driver could not make more room appear so he left it. We where transporting from St. Louis to Lubbock Texas. Truck arrived and there was 4 total to unload.

As we started unloading the truck we immediately noticed high dollar items not boxed or wrapped properly and so far have so many items broken that are not replaceable. Artwork that was not wrapped properly yet plastic straws wrapped in paper. I am not even 1/3 done unwrapping our items but the packers did not use the proper boxes for items of weight or value. No matter what the item you should treat it as a valuable to the consumer. We have had several moving companies in the past and never the amount of personal items broken as this one. Poorly trained workers in the packing department and lack of concern for items not properly wrapped and boxed but just wrapped in moving blankets is going to cost the company money. We expect more from a company. You should not have to babysit their every move.

I'm really disappointed in this company and I did pack a huge amount of stuff myself to transport because of this fear. This company needs to do a better job training their employees. It is uncalled for to have to have items broken because they were not packaged properly. The driver was extremely sorry about the items broken but was not there to manage the crew. We have had drivers who manage the crew and therefore no items broken. Maybe Allied needs to step it up a notch. Lord knows you made enough $$ off our move. You cannot afford to have these kinds of mistakes because we will not refer you to other people moving to the job we are at based on this experience.

I hired these movers to move from New Jersey to Texas. I live alone and do not have that much furniture or stuff. At first these movers seemed friendly and organized, they called to confirm arrival time etc. When my items arrived to San Antonio, and the movers began taking them off the truck, I noticed that some of the items were taken out of the boxed that they were originally packed in. I questioned the driver and he said that they had to consolidate some things to make as much room in the van as possible. They proceeded to bring all of my stuff and pile all the boxes in the garage. Then they started assembling the furniture. They ended up putting the wrong legs on my sofa and my cabinet, so the cabinet was too high and the sofa was too low to the ground. They also couldn't assemble my futon, which they had disassembled in New Jersey. They ended up breaking a screw for my futon.

At this point it was getting late in the day and the driver assured me that they would return tomorrow with the replacement screw and reassemble my futon. He also asked me to sign all the paperwork completing the move, without explaining that I needed to check off each and every single box to make sure that my items were all present at that time, or I would not be able to claim anything that was missing. So, silly me, I signed. Biggest mistake. Turns out my box with all of my winter coats was missing. I filed a claim with the corporate office, but after 30 days they informed me that since I signed the customer sheet at the end of the move, I basically waived my right to seek reimbursement. To make matters worse, no one ever came to fix my furniture. It took 5 phone calls and endless emails and texts to get someone to finally show up a week later.

I am beyond upset at this company. I don't understand how I was supposed to check EVERY SINGLE BOX on moving day, when they literally piled about 100 boxes into my garage, and at that point let them know exactly which box with which items was missing. Moreover, the driver never informed me that that was the proper procedure, and the very rude customer service representative on the phone later informed me that there was a disclaimer on the top of the page. I have learned my lesson when it comes to putting my trust in movers. But, I just wanted to let you know that Allied Van Lines are dishonest, disrespectful and don't care about their customers. Do not be fooled by their lower prices. You get what you pay for with Allied.

I honestly do not know how this company is still in business. My parents hired them to move from Texas to Colorado. They knew it was going to take up to two weeks to get their furniture. They were told that the truck broke down on the way to pick up the delivery. Then the driver claimed that he was going to be a day late because a road was closed due to a "fun run" and he couldn't get to the warehouse. The road was open by 10:30 a.m., but he decided not to pick up the goods until the following day.

The next call was that he had to get new tires, and that he was going to be delayed again. The day came around that he said he would be there, and no phone call and no furniture. I made numerous phone calls to complain, but I just kept being transferred and told I needed to talk to someone else. I did finally get someone to give me the driver's phone number. When I called him he told me his truck broke down again in Waco, Texas. That was the exact spot he claimed it broke down the first time. He told me he would have more information and assured me he would call my parents in two hours to let them know when he would be delivering the furniture. You can probably guess that he never called.

The following evening he called and said that he would be there between 12:00 - 1:00. After 1:00 came around my mom had to call him and she was told he was almost there. My dad is a disabled American Vet. And he had to sleep on an air mattress for three weeks! The company did not make the promised deadline for delivery, but still expected them to pay the full price. The full price was also $1,000 more than they were originally quoted! I will be posting reviews about how awful this company is to everyone! My husband is also in the military, and we will pass this along to all of the military community to make sure no one else has to go through this!!!

The move went well. On time, movers took care of everything or so I thought. My problem is this, I'm missing one piece of outdoor furniture. Tried several times to fill out claim form online... to no avail. Had two different neighbors try on their computers. I also tried on my iPad and my PC. All four were failed attempts. I called and explained to person at Allied that their website was not working properly. He explained that complaint must come from me and that I would have to save form to my desktop, fill it out, print it out and mail it to Allied. I followed all instructions but form would not let me type in information. I and my neighbors even tried pulling up form to print it out. This did not work either. Called Allied back and explained situation. I told them under the circumstance [their website was not working] why could I not give them the information and they in turn would be able to fill out form...

He explained to me that this complaint must come from me and the best he could do was to snail mail me a form... that was Monday. It is now Thursday and my window to register complaint is closing. I have been in contact with Mike [the driver/mover] since latter part of April via text. I did not contact Allied, until now, because Mike told me he had glider and I did not want to make any problems for him. I've learned a hard lesson. He keeps telling me he has glider and he will bring it to me asap. Mike has promised and set up at least four dates to bring glider and failed to deliver all four times.

This is now October and still no glider. Frustrating and disappointing to say the least. Mike [the mover] and I know he has my glider... I have all the text messages as proof. Still think if Allied website is not working they should have a plan B to fill out form other than "snail mail" if you are working within time constraints. Also had my vehicle transported... this worked out extremely well. Kudos to Montway Auto Transport, Inc.

BE WARNED! Bayshore and ALLIED misled and cost me during my move at every phase of the process. Movers were supposed to arrive two days in advance to pack, then show up to pack. All of this was supposed to be planned in advance. When I finally got in touch with my move coordinator Anthony ** (which was difficult to say the least), he could give me no information on scheduling. The movers ended up never showing up to pack a day in advance as they were supposed to, and did everything the day we were supposed to be packed up and moved out. What should have been a process that was done at 11 am took until 5 pm. On top of this, my car which was supposed to be moved wasn't picked up until a day and a half after the supposed pick up time, which, again, was never coordinated with me.

On top of all this, the extra care package which was sold to by Bayshore and Allied, was supposed to cover damage. Lo and behold, my 65" TV was broken during the move, and when I went to file the claim Charleen ** the claims manager is attempting to refute the claim since it involves electronics - EVEN THOUGH, ALLIED OWN WEBSITE lists a tv as an example of an item covered under this type of protection. All in all, I was screwed out of at least half of the services I paid for and now will be forced to used litigation to recoup the loses on my television. Use at your own risk.

I was fooled into thinking this was a decent moving company. I needed my items within a three day window and this company offered me that so I went with it. Big mistake. Please trust me when I say these people are going to "lose" your items. I was an idiot and just got the basic insurance which really doesn't cover anything. I figured my furniture isn't really fancy and if it gets nicked here and there it'll be fine. I guess you need to actually have your furniture delivered for it to be nicked. I wasn't missing a box or two. Go ahead and take my boxes.Three large furniture items were "lost" along with two smaller pieces of furniture. Granted I wasn't really attached to any of these items but to pay several thousand dollars just to have my things "lost" is ridiculous. Spend a little more money and go with a moving company that won't steal your items. This company should be shut down.

Do not let them fool you when the moving consultant comes and is really friendly and thorough. That's how they suck you in. DON'T FALL FOR IT! The movers weren't the friendliest people but whatever. I don't care. The job I needed to have done was to get ALL of my things from point A to B. Did that happen? Of course not. You file a claims with them and they make you wait 6 weeks just to tell you that your items were not found. And then the reimbursement they give you is ridiculous. I waited a month and a half eating on the floor because my tables mysteriously disappeared. Now I get to buy cheap furniture with the small amount of money they gave back to me. This was my first big move. The next time I move I'm going to suck it up and move myself. Worst experience ever.

Absolutely appalling business practices - as follows: They give you an inflated estimate for moving charges based on estimated weight, packaging, etc. At the time of delivery of goods you HAVE to pay the originally estimated, inflated charge EVEN THOUGH at the time of delivery they know the EXACT weight of the goods and the true, lesser charge. 5 weeks later you get a refund of your excess payment, even though Allied knew the exact charges on the date of delivery.

In other words Allied FORCES EACH OF ITS CUSTOMERS TO EXTEND TO ALLIED AN INTEREST FREE, UNSECURED LOAN (in my case, perhaps, for 1,000 or more) otherwise Allied won't give you your bed, your furniture, etc. At the time of delivery, having been told the actual weight of the goods I calculated the approx refund. The refund check I received was accompanied by NO explanation or arithmetic to justify the amount of the refund and was approx $1,000 less than I calculated. I'm waiting for an explanation of the amount of the refund. Even if their calculation is correct (which I doubt) I still find their business practices above to be absolutely shameful.

Items promised to be moved were not taken, loading was poorly executed, items were damaged and we incurred additional charges the company won't cover. Beverly Hills Transfer was contracted by Allied to organize our move from CA to UT. They came to the house and evaluated the weight of the move and drafted a contract. The logistics of planning the move were not well executed but we finally got confirmation that packing would be June 20 and 21, with loading on June 22. The packers completed their job in a timely manner but the loading was where the problems began.

Instead of sending a semi to take our items, the moving company sent two 26 ft trucks and we advised them the items would not all fit. They assured us they would make it work and began loading. They were nearly an hour late and then didn't start loading for an additional 30 minutes while we tried to resolve the issue. They started loading on Wed, 6/22 at 11:40 a.m. and loaded all through the night until 8:30 a.m. the next morning. We couldn't sleep while they were taking down furniture and had our house totally open through the front door and garage. They informed us at that point that not all the items would fit. We asked what they were going to do and we just couldn't get an answer. They left with what they could on Thursday, but we still didn't know what they would do with the remaining items.

We never heard from the company and we had to leave on Friday morning because they were delivering our items in Utah on Saturday. We had to have the house empty because new tenants were moving in so we frantically called to rent a trailer to take the items ourselves. We picked up the trailer on Friday morning and loaded it ourselves because we had never heard from Beverly Hills. Our departure time was pushed back several hours because of this and again we never heard from the company.

As we are prepared to pull out a third truck showed up (unannounced) to take our items. There was no way we were going to off load the trailer and delay our leaving any longer. We didn't arrive in Utah until 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning. When they arrived, they unloaded boxes and were just putting them in the garage or the living room and not into the rooms listed on the boxes. I had to ask them to move the boxes to the proper rooms and in the process items were damaged or broken. When they were done off loading, the driver left and never even asked for the check.

Two days later the company contacted me and said "I didn't pay and they were wanting payment" as if I didn't plan on paying. I even got a phone call from the driver to my cell phone claiming "I heard you are refusing to pay and the company is telling me if you don't pay they will take it out of my pay". We are still in the process of unpacking and I continue to find items damaged or broken. I tried to communicate with Beverly Hills and they told me until I paid in full they wouldn't work with me. I sent a cashier's check for $12,300.00 and once they received it they informed me that I would have to work directly with Allied since they were contracted by them. They won't do anything to help me and have just shut down any further communication just referring me to Allied. I did contact Allied and filed a complaint. I just received word today that they won't do anything to reimburse for any of our costs and that they don't feel any compensation is in order.

I don't understand how they cannot see the cluster screw-up of this whole situation. I actually would like to file my complaint against Beverly Hills and Allied since they seem to be "connected" but neither is willing to work with us. I was told I have nine months to file claims for damaged or broken items at which time they will have an adjuster review our claims. In the meantime, we are not to discard or attempt to repair any items we are claiming. They also said they prefer one claim for all the items. It has been a most disappointing experience. I have posted comments on both of their Facebook pages but I'm sure those will fall on deaf ears as well.

We have moved 8 times and this was the worst experience ever. The local company in WV was wonderful but when Allied got involved everything went downhill. On the morning of loading, no one came at 8 am as promised. The driver said his truck broke down. Finally at noon the local folks sent a truck over. We were supposed to receive our possessions by the end of May.

On Memorial Day weekend the driver again said he was in Portland but, yup his truck broke once again. When he came on Saturday he was high. We think it was on Monster or some other highly caffeinated beverage. He asked us to wave using the tag slips to check off our goods, but we refused. Good thing because five minutes later he said that he had to leave some of our furniture in Morgantown! Next, they lost that part of our shipment and we didn't receive it until the end of June (beds etc.). Please tell anyone you know who is considering using Allied NO! They should not be in business.

Add my complaints to the Allied list. Allied was the contracted company from my local moving agent in Seattle, Hansen Brothers. While Hansen Bros has in Seattle a well-earned reputation they like many other agents contract with Allied. Due to this they can thereby absolve responsibility as is the case with any local agent across country. Thanks to an outdated law - e Carmack Amendment. Put in place in 1906, the law was designed to establish uniform guidelines for carriers’ liability during interstate shipments. While it sounds beneficial, this law effectively shields moving companies from having to keep their promises to consumers; consumers cannot sue for gross negligence or even fraud.

This means that if a moving company holds a person’s goods hostage, uses deception in its business practices, or even drives someone’s stuff off a cliff out of sheer spite, the consumer can only make claims for the value of the goods and nothing more. In essence, consumers must uphold their end of the bargain, but the same cannot be said for the moving company. So write your local legislators, demand that Carmack be repealed and in turn a new law that updates and demands legislation that protects consumers. We are already improving with regards to credit and debt collection so add that to the never ending list of issues that Congress must deal with. Whenever they deal with anything as frankly they are about as responsive as Allied.

Allied hires drivers and pays them. Local agents contract with Allied. You contract with the local agent, who provides the estimate, handles the communication with regards to the move and are ultimately the coordinator. That is until of course the driver arrives, takes your belongings, load them on the truck, which you are not allowed to enter or even look into. The driver is the Allied employee. The packers if you used them are the local contractors, so if anything is broken or damaged, that starts round one. If you packed, using supplies from the local agent, following their instructions, there goes another round. They have varying layers and layers of ways to obfuscate and of course deny culpability.

My driver, Allied hires and pays. Dennis was to say in polite terms was a "piece of work." He asked me who I was voting for and then launched into Trump plaudits. It was right then I should have stopped the process and had him leave my home. He was a bully, insulting, demanding and utterly lazy. His method to the madness was that - madness. Having moved many many times and across country more than once I have seen it all. The was the worst. The lack of coordination and consistency in labeling and inventory was something to see to believe. He had no idea what he was doing, complained endlessly and in turn duplicated numbers, failed to label, broke things apart but failed to inventory them as separate, his "crew" which he pays... not Hansen. Dennis pays. He pays them as independent contractors. They are paid by the hour. He hired them for clearly 4 hours to avoid paying for breaks, lunch etc. He did this on both ends.

The local agent simply sets up those individuals but they are not their employees either. The two men in Seattle were Spanish-speaking I presume picked up in front of Lowe's that day. The two men in Nashville were residents but also day laborers. Because I speak Spanish and was willing to communicate with both crews, they knew they were being exploited, could and say nothing they were not willing or able to cooperate with me in getting signed statements about what was transpiring. So we also have labor abuse. Dennis made sure that I was not able to supervise nor manage the move. Demanding that I get boxes for pot plants which again all the move and packing I did myself with clear instruction and direction on how they would like it handled and done.

Apparently that is not what Allied agreed to. There is another way to absolve responsibility. Allied does not coordinate with you. Your contract is with the agent and the agent has no role in regards to the driver and his crew. See the problem there? So I had to leave my home during phase one of the move to comply with Dennis' demands. In the interim the crew sealed boxes I had not finished packing, packed electronics (there are your issues with TV's right there.. you need oversee that but I was lucky there) without supervision and approval, dismantled furniture that could or should not be dismantled, forgot pieces and left behind requiring Dennis to call them after leaving. Thankfully they had not gotten far.

Then the demands you sign change orders about weight. As the estimator from Hansen came in with a 7K weight using the walk-through which I of course thought BS but agreed. In the interim I sold half my furniture. Funny now the Allied agent claims it is over 8K and refuses to load garden items. But loads a broken washer and dryer which he noted and does not "mention" that to me and offer to say dump it, it will only get worse moving it... no it is heavy... but load my antiques. That was a problem as those he had to handle with care. See it is about weight and ease of loading and packing or in other words shoving onto a truck, driving like a bat out of hell, not caring about it, and unloading as quick as possible. To Dennis it would have been a dream that my home was full of Ikea and in turn he could treat with the disregard he did regardless as he hated my guts. It was personal.

He hated me as I had no husband a point of issue and that I loathed Trump. This explains why he tried to tell the non-English crew to not speak to me but they pretended to not understand him and Dennis did not know I spoke Spanish. I heard him yelling from the truck repeatedly on both ends as he did NOTHING. I had to supervise and attempt to cross off items from the bill of lading... it becomes impossible. They just dumped stuff, boxes were crushed, items damaged, and I could not do it all on my own. What ended up was that the crew finished at the 4-hour mark on both ends. They walked out and left me in chaos. The bill of lading upon receipt I never finished, nor signed nor walked through the truck or my home at any point to ensure things were put at least in a manner I could repair, adjust etc. And the best part was Dennis, the ALLIED EMPLOYEE, drove off without me signing anything.

Then the local agent in Nashville, came out... Saw the mess took photos and knew it was bad. He was actually trying to help but again has NOTHING to do with the ALLIED employee. So when you file a complaint and claim you have to go through Allied. Tamra ** the claims analyst was interesting as I receive a letter from here saying your things are not found (yes of course things were missing) then 8 weeks later they arrive via the LOCAL agent in Nashville. And Allied absolves responsibility and explanation.

Write your reps and ask them about Carmack law and why we have no protection nor ability to litigate an industry that has run Americans into debt, commit crimes, such as forgery in my case, fraud by lying to people about costs and weight of goods... no way did my stuff weigh 7 or 8 k. The estimator comes up with a "number" and that is what they stick with regardless. Demand to go to the weigh in. Inventory your items yourself, ask the mover for the stickers and start doing alone, and create a bill of lading to give to them to sign, take photos, film the move and start documenting what you see. We do it with police, start with this industry too. But this is also why the growth in the do-it-yourself industry is growing but it is hard work and in turn you have to purchase the materials, etc. This is not necessary when we can demand legislation to correct this.

Allied Van Lines hires criminals and they cover up for them. I would love to see the forged documents that I supposedly signed. Add to that the labor abuse and god knows what highway and traffic regulations are violated during this period. I was lied to repeatedly by Dennis as to his arrival date/time. He was a bully and a deliberately abusive to me and the crew. I don't think he is an exception given the complaints about Allied or many others on this site, the BBB and NHTSA

We've moved several times across the country but this was the worst. We got several quotes but went with Allied, because they had agents/terminals in both our origin and our destination cities (Huntsville/Madison, Alabama and Tacoma, Washington). It started off beautifully. Our estimator, Patti **, did everything right. She was professional and knowledgeable and so we felt very comfortable going forward with Allied, Coleman American WW Moving. We got an email stating that our "Move Coordinator", Stacy **, would be handling everything. She was supposed to be our assurance that everything would be in place, and would be our point of contact throughout the process. Here is an excerpt of the email she sent on April 29, 2016, exactly two weeks before our load date of May 13:

"I want to make sure you know how to reach me if you have any questions regarding your upcoming move. I am happy to be a central point of contact for you throughout the duration of your move. I appreciate your business and look forward to working with you. My office hours are 8:00–5:00 Central, M-F, and I can often be reached on Saturday mornings as well. I check my voicemail and email frequently throughout the day and make a purposeful effort to respond promptly, so please do feel free to contact me anytime."

We had a case where our employer was paying $5,000 toward the moving cost. The estimate was in excess of this amount, so we attempted to contact Stacy how we would proceed on paying from two separate accounts (the employer's and ours). We never did hear from Stacy about how to accomplish this. She wouldn't reply to either us or our estimator Patti **, on how to proceed. (At this point, Patti should be out of the picture, but she was doing her best to provide the customer service ANYONE would expect! Kudos to Patti.)

So, with the load date fast approaching, we just asked the future employer to provide credit card authorization for the initial $5,000 and then we'd figure it out from there. At this Coleman American place, you need to call a separate entity to do so, some Accounting Department at a separate phone number who seemingly has nothing to do with the rest of the company. It's really such a disconnect! Luckily the employer was able to put down the deposit, but we had to phone in to check on it before the movers were to come. Our Move Coordinator, Stacy, should have been on top of this, but again, she never replied.

Then... Days before loading, we still hadn't heard from Stacy to confirm what our loading date would be. Keep in mind, we are moving across the country, from Alabama to Washington State. Our house is on the market and a scheduled date to start a new job out in Washington. We don't have a day here and a day there to spare.

We had to be the ones calling Stacy to ask exactly when the movers would be loading! Each time we spoke with her (and that was when we were lucky enough to catch her), she was lethargic and borderline rude. Like we were bothering her!? She had ZERO sense of urgency. And that thing about her office hours being 8-5 Central and responding to voice mails? What a crock. We left several voice mails and emails with our concerns. To sum up her effort: the ONE AND ONLY TIME she actually called us (and Coleman can check the phone records, it was only ONCE) - was on loading day to make sure the movers were there loading. Wow, what an effort.

So, let's talk about loading day. We had to take it upon ourselves that it was actually happening, because we never did hear from Stacy; but luckily, the driver called us and gave an approximate time of arrival. He got his team of two movers (presumably NOT employed by Allied, just contractors so do you think they really care?)... And they arrived about an hour after the promised arrival time, another strike against them.

We are pretty low-maintenance and don't have a whole lot of valuables, but our flat-screen TVs are something that we really like. We tried not to hover or get in their way, but later on we found out that they put both our flat screen TVs simply in flat pieces of cardboard, with NO padding whatsoever. Now, you tell me that these TVs are going to last in a huge semi trailer, going 2,500 miles across bumpy roads and going over multiple mountains from Alabama to Washington State. This is pure negligence. If you are a professional moving company, you should KNOW how to handle flat screen TVs and other breakables. Sure enough, one of the two TVs wouldn't power up once delivered. We filed a claim, but of course - Allied contends they are not responsible. Here is the following email we received (and may I add, far from a professional or apologetic response):

"Since there is no external damage to the TV, I cannot determine at this time the van line mishandled it. There is a clause on the back of your Household Goods Freight Bill of Lading that states if the damage is due to age, use, or jarring, (inherent vice) I will not be able to accept any amount for the TV. You will need to take this to a certified technician to have them look at the TV and put in writing what they found is wrong. If the above is the cause, then I will not be able to accept any liability. Could be something that will fall under your warranty since you just purchased this year. You will need to send in that documentation showing what caused the problem within the next 3 weeks for our consideration. Thank you for your assistance. The repair firms we have only work on wood furniture. Jenny **, SIRVA Claims - Certified Claims Analyst"

So...WHY ON EARTH would we hire a moving company to move our things, if they are not going to take responsibility for them outside of our care??? So we are moving across the country, staying at hotels, days are going by... And of course, nothing from Stacy the "Move Coordinator" about where our goods are, or an approximate delivery date. Nothing. Since she wouldn't answer us, we decided to just keep calling the driver, since we were fortunate enough to have his mobile number. He was kind enough to answer ALL of our calls, and we were able to determine a delivery date through him.

So let's move on to the actual unloading process. Again, they showed up late, even after I got a call from the driver that morning confirming the time they would arrive. This time it was almost 2 hours late, which was rather irritating, as the agent is local (Coleman WW Moving. Origination: Huntsville/Madison, AL. Destination: Tacoma, WA.) They've had about 11 days of moving across the country by now, and our goods were sitting in Tacoma the night prior to delivery, so why can't they get a simple time frame right? Probably because they had to scramble that morning to hire local contractors to unload. Again, Allied doesn't employ loaders/unloaders, they are contracted out to whoever shows up!

And not far from our (at this point VERY LOW) expectations, these guys put forth the least amount of care and consideration in moving in our items. Most of our items were not unwrapped from all that strapping tape. Our coffee tables/end tables that had been dismantled in Huntsville were not put back together and we had to scramble to find where the nuts/bolts screws were to put them together ourselves. Which were, by the way, haphazardly tucked into a tiny pillow of brown paper and then obliterated with strapping tape to the point where it was almost impossible to find the little screws somewhere inside. Very unprofessional. (How about using a see-through sandwich bag that seals nicely, and taping just the top of it?) Matching up the screws with what they belonged with - now that's yet another story. Everything, everything was a disorganized mishmash.

Then the icing on the cake, which tells you how pathetically disorganized this company is: In our original estimate, we asked Allied to provide a quote for storage in the event that we weren't able to find a place to live right away at our destination of Tacoma. They provided a 31-day storage quote on top of our household goods moving estimate. Well, we had found a place in Tacoma during the time they were moving our household goods across the country. The timing was brilliant - the driver called and said he arrived in Tacoma just about the time we were getting the keys to our new home.

So after we had gotten our goods delivered (which was on May 24), we get a final bill that charges us the full 31 days of storage (?!). Not quite sure how that could happen when we loaded in Huntsville on May 13 and delivered on May 24, and they were on the moving truck the entire time... I haven't even scratched the surface with this experience. There is so much more to tell but I wanted to at least get the worst of the worst stated. It was a terrible experience and we would NEVER use Allied again nor recommend them to anyone.

We paid 2x for the move because of a fast approaching move out date. We paid for the insurance to cover lost and broken furniture and we paid extra to have our exercise equipment and pool table disassembled and reassembled. The furniture arrived broken and in pieces. We made a claim but Allied claims that the 500 dollar oak table came unglued so they are not liable. The re-assemble tech sent to put the exercise equipment and pool table cancelled on us several times and we asked Allied to send another. A month after the move they finally got here. Terrible company and customer service.

Beware of this company. I hired them to move my household cross-country because I had accepted a new position and the company was paying relocation. I thought a full service company would be easy to deal with. I have moved no less than 5 times and this was by far the worst experience ever. It turns out that this company is basically a sham--they work with "local agents" who have all the decision-making power, and the larger company is nothing but a conduit. My experience with the local agent in Virginia, Dunmar Moving, should have tipped me off. First, they had to move my moving dates UP because they hadn't staffed their services correctly that week. Then the packing crew were over an hour late. On load day, despite having had an in-person estimate, the truck driver declared he could not navigate the driveway.

Next, the move loaded before mine had been underestimated, and without notice to me my shipment was split into 2 loads. The second load had no delivery date (original window was by July 5). While I was in trans with my family, the company called and announced they would be delivering earlier than expected. I was told I had no recourse for this, and that I would have to pay to have my things held until we arrived.

When we got to the house and began unpacking, it became clear that the so-called packing crew had essentially dumped things into boxes: drawers were upended directly into crates with no organization or clear labeling as to the content. They had also dismantled furniture that was never intended to be dismantled, and much of it is now damaged and unstable. As of this writing, it is two weeks past the delivery window and I have not received the rest of my belongings, nor has any part of the company bothered to provide updates. Their customer service is comically poor and I cannot say strongly enough NOT TO USE Allied. I certainly never will again.

I had two companies to choose from and picked Allied... bad choice! There were three guys packing the stuff up in Napa. It was a mad house with them hauling my belongings out onto the street and then into the truck! All the while one of them asking..."is this going? What about this?" And on it went! I watched as closely as I could in the confusion but when they shoved five pages in front of me to sign off on the paperwork there was no way for me to double check what was on the truck and what was not.

I packed the boxes myself, labeled everything and put them all in groups of kitchen stuff, bedding, etc. so when the house was empty I knew all items were picked up! However, when delivered in Jerome, ID, two boxes were missing. All my tools, including the special hardware for my bed and a box of kitchen stuff that had all my specialty items. Aside from dozens of spices, mom... deceased... had given me some things that had been in our family for generations, gone!

Aside from the lost boxes one chair had a broken arm. The tan couch had not been wrapped and was permanently stained and there were chips out of corners of chest of drawers etc. Of course I immediately filed a claim but after two months of dealing with them they finally got back to me to tell me that they could not "find" the boxes... offered an insulting settlement... have not cashed the check yet. What makes me so sad is that I moved to ID to retire so I spent the last year or so having garage sales to downsize and only packed those items I wanted to keep. I wish I had read these reviews... would not have used Allied.

My husband hired this van line for our move from TX to FL. Getting the quote accurate took numerous attempts even when I provided an itemized list of cartons & sizes, furniture, etc that was to be moved. Their quote always had more items on there than what I was moving. I'd change it (usually deleting) then something would be added and my quote would go even higher.

They hired 2 day laborers they picked up (not experienced movers as the sales rep had assured us was being used). I saw the driver pay them cash out of his pocket. They were clueless, careless and unorganized. One drag a piece of furniture across my wood floors - 2 huge arching scratches in the walkway where no furniture could possibly ever cover. Yes they sent someone out immediately as we were closing in 2 days. He spoke no English, took all day to do something that an experience person could have fixed in less than an hour - left a huge green hazy area not just in the scratch but all around it - 2 separate areas. There was no one at Allied or the repair service that I could speak to, just voice mails and no return calls. Ever.

When they arrived in Florida, they again hired 2 day laborers - one had done moving before (he claimed), the other was ticked off that he was having to do manual labor "I'm a driver not a mover" and spent most of the day in my home standing in the way or running back and forth to my bathroom. Drags or going thru my things, as he didn't ever take anything I offered him to drink. They spent all day moaning about having to move into a condo - all my neighbors, the property managers kept running upstairs telling me they were just sitting around outside smoking, complaining and not doing jack squat. They damaged quite a bit of furniture, my floors, stacked up boxes & furniture as they brought it up all over my covered balcony - it started raining.

I asked them to get it inside as the boxes were getting wet and starting to collapse from the moisture - nothing was done. They left my doors wide open in the FL heat for over 8 hours - should have been a simple move if they had actually worked. They took my fridge doors off - weren't supposed to. They damaged my floors with the metal brackets & didn't put them back on for 2-3 days and numerous calls approaching 20. Couldn't unpack the kitchen as I couldn't even get to the cabinets with all the stuff they put in the walkway and the heavy fridge doors I couldn't lift & had no one I could ask to lift (husband out of the country working). The boxes were finally all dumped in the family room & Kitchen, as it started raining hard. Needless to say, they started collapsing (have full pics of the disaster area).

It took me 5 days to unpack what would have been done in 1 day as I had to open each box and take things out, then take them to their rooms due to the water damage. Huge mess. I had almost $8,000 in personal items stolen. Sales rep & paperwork said "you have up to 9 months to file a claim for missing items." I filed around 60 days as the Sheriff asked me to itemize every single thing with where it came from, description, cost to replace; but Allied was notified immediately both in Florida and my sales rep in TX.

When I "told" them about what all was missing, they said if I filed a police report for theft, they would stop looking for my items and refused to talk to me - since there were 2 households on the truck and they had to move ours onto a secondary truck van as the trailer was too large to go into our complex (which they were aware of when quoting and we paid for). I kept putting the unit number on my paperwork I signed each time and sent to Allied; it was never updated. Why - the driver said they don't as they know the drivers will not accept the load if they have to do condos. I heard that all day pick up day / all day delivery day.

I just got my settlement notice - almost every damage / items stolen and they were stolen, were denied. Upon advisement, I filed the police report as that is considered threatening tactics. I was advised to file a report with the Attorney General for both TX and FL - which I will do if this is not rectified. Oh yeah, the lamps they packed, were both damaged $300 each & brand new, they offered me $10 each for repairs and I get to figure out where to take them / pick them up. That doesn't even cover gas for where we live to anywhere.

Please note: When they load / unload there is no semblance of order, not check list if provided until everything is either on the truck (when leaving) and off the truck and stacked in a pile you cannot walk around. That way you can do the correct paperwork. Yes I tipped them. Based on the looks of the crew they picked up in FL, I was scared not to. My mother said to just do it so they didn't come back since they knew I was alone at the time. Guess my next step is hiring an attorney. In Pensacola, it's Allied Coleman. Do not use this company.

Next step -- to file a claim. Basically, the Claims Dept called me a liar concerning the condition of items. A long series of letters back and forth with no movement on their part. Basically I got a settlement which they said was for all the damage, but which paid only to replace a vacuum cleaner. If you have to use this company because it is provided by your employer ==> take photos of EVERYTHING before they pack it and get the driver to sign condition. But good luck on that.

I have not had an opportunity to publicly post a terrible story until now that I experienced with this business. It still lingers today in my mind and hope that if someone is considering this company for the next moving, I want to give them a dire warning. In June 2003 I was still living in the suburb of Georgia, just received my second college degree. After accepting a job offer from employer in other state, a recruiter informed me that they wanted me to start within 2 weeks and they were sending a mover. When I had only packed up 1/3 of my belongings after giving away some furniture, TV set, and other household items to my good neighbors, about six adult ** men showed up at my front door. Some immediately went into my bedroom. Some started wrapping up things in the dining kitchen, living room, and others into my study room. Could not keep an eye as they all scattered around the house.

I saw three or four vans parked outside. They called additional van. I gave the leader the destination address (rented storage unit as a temporary place to store). They packed up so fast without asking me anything as I trusted their integrity and never doubted something horrible would happen later on. I took a flight and taxi cab to get to a new place. After arriving the destination, I went to the storage building by taxi cab to pick up my driver license which I saw last time on the side table together with a credit card in my bedroom but was gone with the moving company. To my horror, things were all randomly piled up like a hill: on top of furniture, clothing, dishes, books, shoes, etc. It took several days to dig in and bring things to my new apartment. I noticed a lot of things were missing. At least a whole van never arrived in the destination, meaning my personal belonging and valuables were stolen.

My driver license, credit card, electronic gadgets, designer clothing, jewelry, and so on went missing. I ordered to disable my credit card. The most serious: I was unable to rent a car without my driver license! I was unable to go pick up my car left in my old place nor to commute without a license. First week of employment was nothing but embarrassment as I had to depend on my new supervisor and new coworker for a ride twice daily. I found myself being placed on a very busy role within a technical division that had chronic problems with regard to the automotive electronic products they were making. As such I had to work overtime, day after day, and very difficult to find a personal time to go to the licensing center nor to report to the police in GA. It was a personal disaster caused by the thieves hired by the business.

I choose the other company for 2 reasons. First and most of all because the first contact with the other company was outstanding. Everything I ask and needed was done to the T...walk thru times, packing times, pickup times and drop off times. Second reason was my contact person. She was friendly. She followed up with every detail in writing and made things happen. On your company's end, my first contact was not so good. The contact person did not follow thru with what was asked.

She said that I drop the ball on appointment time and that I was to contact her back, but it was left that if I could not make the meeting time of 10:30 on June 1st that I would contact her. I did set up that meeting time. So because there was not a additional call to her she dropped the move and lost the dates I needed. Because of the timing I setup airline tickets, hotel room and rental trucks. Since she drop the dates needed additional cost on my end would be added. I also want to make you aware that once I stated that I needed to contact my partner on time change on Monday's appointment, her tone and demeanor completely changed and will make that note when I review your company. I hope this help you in the future.

When we moved from PA to GA, the local crews on each end were horribly inept. I had packed most of the house but the crew of 4 plus driver took over 13 hours to pack the van, loading and unloading furniture numerous times. The driver was going to leave all our lamps and a large Christmas wreath behind until my husband spoke to him! On arrival, only two local movers showed up to unload our large load. One argued with me about where to put things. One plastic container was smashed to bits and most of the contents are missing.

Another has a hole punched in the top. They toppled a dolly of treasured, valuable Christmas ornaments, breaking and scattering them. My piano bench legs are so wobbly we can't sit on it until we tighten them ourselves. One man opened a bathroom door which had a sign saying "Do Not Open, Cats Inside" and left it open. We felt lucky we discovered it and the cats had not escaped. Our coffee table received tall legs that went to a side table, and they would not have corrected it if we hadn't noticed.

One bookcase had doors jammed shut, and only when I called attention to it did the driver finally repair it. One man repeatedly told me we had too much stuff. Another was more pleasant but appeared to know nothing about moving - I thought everyone knew moving boxes should stay right side up, but he was tossing them around, ignoring signs that said fragile until I directed the stacking process.

Although I specified garden tools to go into a shed, many of them were stacked in the garage, taking up space we needed for other boxes. The piano and another bookcase have fresh chips out of them near the bases. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. I would not use Allied to scoop my cat boxes and would urge other consumers to run the other way from this moving company.

At the end of 2015 I secured a new job in CO and had to plan a move from NC. I contacted many moving companies, online and met with five of them in person to get accurate quotes. After much consideration, I hired Allied. The staff I originally worked with seemed considerate and professional. The date of pick up was arranged and contracts were signed. I was assured the movers would be company employees, not day laborers and my belongings would be treated with care.

On the day of the move, the driver and loaders (they had been hired by driver that morning) showed up with an large moving truck and stated they could not get into my apartment parking lot. Since the sales rep had been to my apartment and saw where I lived there was confusion as to why the driver was misinformed. The driver and staff had to leave with their truck, pick up a smaller rental truck and return. This put the loading approximately two hours behind schedule. When the driver returned, he and the loaders moved all my boxes into larger mover's boxes because they said they had to consolidate space. I didn't question their decision. When all was loaded I was told they would be taking my belongings back to the warehouse and move them into the larger truck. They asked me to sign off on the loading of my belonging and I did. What I didn't realize was this was a BIG mistake.

My belongings were to meet me in CO just before Christmas but that didn't happen. When I hadn't heard from the driver by the day before my possessions were to delivered, I called his cell number and learned he (and my stuff) was still in NC. At that point I was informed the truck would be in CO the following week. The following week I was contacted by the driver and told my belongings were being taken to a warehouse in CO, stored for a few days and then would be put on yet another truck. My 3rd delivery date was now the end of Dec. My items were delivered on Dec. 28th and I can say the team who finally delivered my belongings were very nice and very helpful.

Once I had begun to unpack and found some items broken, I contacted the company. I was sent forms, via email and it was explained I should be specific about the damage. I carefully documented the issues and submitted the forms. A few weeks later I received a check for 1/3 of the amount of the damage. I called the company back to inquire why the discrepancy. I was informed the forms I signed on the original day of the move indicated the boxes were "crushed" and as such, the company was not responsible for the damage. I explained I had not seen that notation and all the driver showed me was the bottom of the pages to sign. At no time was it explained he had indicated some boxes were crushed or that by signing the forms, I was giving up my ability to get reimbursed for damage from the move. I was essentially told, "too bad".

I will warn anyone about to book a mover to be very careful about who you hire and to especially be careful about signing anything you are handed regardless of what you are being told it is for. I know people are told not to sign anything without reading it carefully and I usually do not, however I was completely overwhelmed by the move and events of that day. Never did I think the driver was making notations that would negate any responsibility of the movers for damages. My experience with Allied movers was that they were late in the first day, took nearly three weeks to move my possessions across the country, took my items in and out of multiple trucks and stored my items in a warehouse for a few days but have refused to pay for damages.

I was told by Mr ** that my moving coordinator would be contacting me with dates and information regarding the details of my move. Cynthia ** was my coordinator and she never once phoned me. Each time I had contact with Cynthia ** I had to initiate the call. The day before the scheduled move - I again had to call Allied. The lady looked in the computer and advised me the movers would arrive at my storage unit from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. I got up at 5 am as it is over an hour drive to my storage unit. I was on site by 8 am.

When 10 am came and still no movers - I AGAIN had to initiate a phone call to Allied. I was told that my pick-up time had been changed to 12:30 to 1:30. I quickly asked for a supervisor and Kevin came on the line. He advised me that Allied did fail to call me and advise me of the scheduled pick-up time. I told him I was missing work and that this was totally unacceptable. He told me my moving coordinator was not in but that he would have her call me as soon as she arrived. She NEVER called me. I again had to initiate the call. She came on the line and apologized but there was nothing they could do for THEIR mistake.

I wish I had read the reviews on Allied prior to hiring this horrible moving company. They were hundreds of dollars more expensive then the other 3 bids I received from other movers but I went with them as they had the BBB on their website and they were supposed to be a reputable moving company. The two young men (Zack and Marcus) that FINALLY showed up after 2:00 pm were wonderful! They worked hard and fast and they did a great job. My family recently moved from Southern California to the Bay Area using Allied-Coleman American movers (COVAN). They came across as well organized and both their representative and marketing material were superb. They were based out of the San Diego area. However, I wish I had read the prior reviews of folks who had used them before I hired them. My problems began with the packers, and their high level of disorganization and the fact they spoke and understood little English, which limited their ability to properly label boxes. It took them approximately 5 days to deliver the goods after delivering 2-3 other loads. Once the driver arrived he was in a hurry to get back home leaving us little time to properly ensure that all our boxes and goods had arrived.

After several weeks of unpacking boxes, we discovered an expensive set of sterling silver silverware in addition to a stainless set were missing. These sets had been wedding gifts and had been through 9-10 previous moves with no problems. Surprisingly, the cleaning cloth for the sterling silver set arrived, but the actual sterling silver was missing. It took me several days to find where their insurance carrier was located (seemed like a 2 person backwater office) and I filed a claim. It was immediately rejected within a day, and I promptly sent off an e-mail to the agent who has been the focal point and he got me in contact with their regional VP, who tried to smooth over my frustration and claimed to start a trace on the box (good luck on trying to find a missing box). I await for a resolution, but I am not optimistic! My lesson learned is: DO NOT USE ALLIED VAN LINES, and especially COLEMAN AMERICAN (out of San Diego).

I wish I had read the reviews contained here. They are all the same but I think ours is a little worse. We moved from Beaufort SC to Ladera Ranch CA. in January 2014. First sign there was something wrong was when driver refused to come into our neighborhood because of narrow roads. When moving to Beaufort the Mayflower driver had no problem and numerous other drivers had been the neighborhood with large moving vans. So there was an additional charge of $363 for a small truck to shuttle our boxes and furniture to the local Allied yard.

Next, as always seems to be the case the load weighed more than the estimate so there was an additional charge of $1200. The other estimates we received were each correct. Going with the lowest bid is very expensive. We left Beaufort a week later and kept in contact with the driver who was in Savannah, Georgia for a week waiting for a load, or so he said. We drove to CA and waited over a week for him to arrive. Our home was not ready so everything had to go into storage.

He arrived late one afternoon with his nephew to help unload and the craziness commenced. Many of the boxes had no stickers on them which was amazing since the packers and the driver had put duplicate numbers on each box. My wife and I were by ourselves and couldn't keep up with the boxes being placed in several piles and moved into a large storage bay, 10ft by 16ft. When we complained they would show us unmarked boxes and wanted them checked off the list. We still weren't satisfied so they got belligerent and said that they would have to empty the entire load from the bay. We wanted to get into the truck and check for other boxes and they blocked our way. We saw a chair that was ours and they unloaded it. We wanted to look at boxes that were still on the truck and they wouldn't do it. We signed after some more heated discussion and a threat to put everything back on the truck and just to get to away from them.

It was three months later when we moved into our home that we learned of the extent of the theft. Over twenty boxes were missing containing valuable items, hand picked. Wardrobe Box containing all of my wife's shoes and all of her jackets. All of our cooking pot sets and utensils. Small tv for the kitchen counter. Tools. Brand new bedding. Silverware and chef knife sets. HP printer. Costume jewelry. Water glasses and wine glasses. And many other items that we keep discovering are missing.

When Allied was contacted we found that the extra insurance, which cost $300 plus, was not really insurance but increased the value of what they were responsible for and they would decide if we had a claim. Further, we were told by the only person who talk to us that they would launch an investigation into the missing items. We have never heard back except for the damaged chair, which of course, was less than the deductible so we weren't even offered the $57 that others have reported receiving.

Somewhere along the journey our clothes, shoes, electronics, and kitchenware was identified and singled out to steal. Things of very little value just magically arrived. Obviously, the driver while helping the packers was able to identify the boxes that would look nice in his home and on his wife. Do not use Allied under any circumstances. I wish I had paid more and used containers.

Contracted with Allied in 2008 to move from east coast (CT) to the mid-west (MO). We were consolidating two homes to move my aging mother-in-law in with us in the move. We had their "professional estimator" and his electronic clipboard do the complete walk around both homes and based on his estimate set up the move. We were told it was booked and to call the week before to confirm our move date. When we called they had forgotten to book the move and we had a mad scrabble to get them to honor the move date. IT WENT DOWN FROM THERE!

After loading our belongings and we had set off to drive to our new home we get a call while on the road from Allied. They informed us that the final price would be TWICE the estimate and would not release the truck until we paid at least half the amount. So sitting outside a truck stop where we were having lunch I had to arrange a cash transfer from our bank account of over $10,000 to cover the half they demanded.

Delivery day arrived and most all the boxes with it. Turns out they double booked the truck so it had picked up 80% of our stuff then traveled to VT from CT to pick up a small move leaving some of our stuff for a small contract driver to pick up and deliver a week after the main delivery. When we started unpacking we discovered broken, lost and stolen items galore. These guys should change their company logo to a black flag with skull & cross bones because they are a bunch of pirates. On calling and reporting this they sent a claim form which I sent back but no follow through 2 months later. DO NOT USE ALLIED VAN LINES or store your items at EXCEL in Raleigh, NC.

Horrible experience. The move out of my apartment in California seemed to go well, but the delivery in NYC was a terrible experience. The movers showed up three days after the last date of the move-in window after having notified me that they would miss the Friday deadline at ~4pm on Thursday (I actually had to call them to find out this fact, and the reason for missing the window was that they forgot to book a shuttle needed for the move). Upon arriving, we found one box of items from my California bedroom both mislabeled and partially empty. Missing from the box were over $2000 of cufflinks and a vintage watch that was a gift from my grandfather. Despite having full, dollar-for-dollar insurance that supposedly guaranteed reimbursement, I was denied any compensation because the movers labeled the box 'Cosmetics' and didn't note any of the contents.

By this logic, a customer cannot receive compensation for any damage or theft that occurs if the movers don't specifically list the individual item on the inventory list. Given the movers are the ones labeling the boxes, and given they tend to list broad categories of goods instead of specific items, the insurance I purchased was worthless and no action will be taken to address the fact that items were likely stolen. I am extremely disappointed in the outcome of this move, and I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking an honest, fair, and transparent mover. Update: the company has acknowledged not providing a high value inventory form necessary for submitting and settling loss disputes though will still not acknowledge any loss occurred. This process has lacked any transparency and has been hugely impersonal.

Don't believe a word they promise. I hired Allied Movers and got them Quality Move Management. I made it very clear when I met with the "Allied Representative" that I was not interested in being sub-contracted. Also, clearly discussed with her the details and concerns of my move including fragile antiques and outdoor pot plants, baby grand piano and I specified I did not want my belongings to be shifted from truck to truck and truck to storage - told, "NO PROBLEM, we promise to take care of you and make your moving day stress-free!" What lies. What arrived was totally unexpected - an understaffed, uninformed crew in a small moving truck with no idea what was needed to be done or that there was a piano, outdoor plants etc.

One of the crew, with a runny nose wiping his snot on his hands then handling my belongings. We had to ask them to leave and I called the manager, Roy **, in another province to inform him of the goings on. He was very apologetic and offered to send more crew and a bigger truck and my stuff was put into storage!!! For a discount of $700. We had packed most things but it took an entire day to get this move on its way. We ended up having to pay more than expected as the representative totally underestimated the weight of our move and I paid for additional insurance to cover my valuable antiques and piano.

Got screwed. Expect your belongings to arrive damaged and then when you try to make a claim get bumped from Allied to QMM to an independent insurance company who don't do their job. Expect to be running around getting your own repair estimates and running around for a service you paid for. One big warning - AVOID this company. I am still waiting to hear back from the manager, Roy ** 3 months later.

Most nightmare move of my life, and I've made a lot of moves, two of which were local with Liffey Allied and were fine. Our last with Liffey however was 1 1/2 years ago, long distance, and it was horrible from start to finish. Reason I'm reviewing now, is 1/3 of our things had to be stored at our previous location because we were grossly misquoted by the Liffy front man for the initial move by several THOUSANDS of dollars and were forced to leave belongings behind. We had less than a week's notice as to the actual cost discrepancy before our move. I'm just now trying to find an affordable way to get the rest of our belongings to our current home.

Rude, short-tempered and patronizing moving supervisor (beyond description), prior agreement to pack certain items that they didn't follow thru with, truck too long for our private drive (even though they had been to the property twice) and we had to pay for a rental truck to take belongings up to moving truck on the main road, insufficient packing materials dropped off prior and had to purchase much more at a store on the day of move, crew showed up on morning of move 2 hours late, my husband and I were up until 11 PM still wrapping items THEY were supposed wrap and pack according to our original agreement. Turns out, all the actual moving is subcontracted, and thereby lies the problem.

So, to recap, upon finding out our move would cost THOUSANDS of dollars more than initially quoted only a couple of days before our move, I had to suddenly switch gears and make some sudden decisions about what to take. We then were subjected to the most stressful, expensive and poorly run operation on this earth. Fancy that. We cut it down by more than 1/3, and went on our way. Upon arriving in SC, we found that our bill for less than 2/3 of our stuff was still MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND than had been estimated upon leaving and we had planned for, or we could afford, and were threatened with non-delivery. There was also damage to our belongings, but next to the trauma of the whole experience, it was nothing.

I was naive to believe that a company like Allied Van Lines, which has been around for a while, has honed its process of moving household belongings to the point that I could trust them to deliver on their promises. That misplaced trust led to the loss of several important personal belongings that I was unable to recover or receive compensation for them. The reason that Allied Van Lines got away with it was that I had signed their so-called "Customer Check-Off List" to avoid what would have been an explosive conflict with a driver, who barely spoke English, and his younger helper who told me that if I complained of all the broken boxes, they would say the boxes broke because I made them search for numbers on the boxes that were not checked on the Customer Check-Off List. The arbitration judge sided with Allied Van Lines based on my checking off the items on the list, even though I did so to protect my family.

I am against frivolous lawsuits and not a complainer but because of this painful experience I thought I should do whatever I can to warn other consumers so that they can avoid the same pitfall I went through. Here are my suggestions: If possible, rent a truck from U-Haul or some other truck rental company to move your household belongings in-state or interstate. You can go out to Home Depot and hire a couple of day laborers that can help put stuff in the truck with no chance of taking any of your stuff because you are there. If you have to use the services of a moving company, I suggest you find a smaller and newer company where the owner knows the driver and everybody that works for the company personally. The bigger companies like Allied Van Lines tend to contract out their services to the point that they really don't know the people that handle your belongings.

If you decide to use the services of a company like Allied Van Lines, then ensure that you have a complete list of items in each box outside the boxes. Ensure that all items worth $100 or more is listed as "high value items" whether they are electronics or non-electronics. If your household belongings are to be picked up on a smaller truck to the larger interstate truck, then make sure that you are at the transfer point to ensure that everything picked up from your home is transferred to the larger truck. At the destination, make sure that you have other family members or friends with copies of the Customer Check-Off List in hand at the door to check off the numbers on the boxes at the door before the movers deliver them inside your home, rain or shine.

If the Allied Van Lines' driver and his helpers begin to get hostile because they think that you are not letting them move your stuff in as quickly as they want, you may refuse to sign the Customer Check-Off List, and if they insist on your signing it, call the police immediately to get them out of your home. Experience, they say, is the best teacher; unfortunately, mine turned out to be costly. If I need another mover in my life, it won't be Allied Van Lines.

My contract specifically states my delivery to arrive between 1/4-1/8/16. Mind you it has been stored by Champion 2 weeks prior to this date at a cost of over $1,000. On 1/8/16 we call Allied to find out the shipment was not en route due to their inability to find a driver. Terri from Champion a few days later re-iterated this information to me via e-mail still with no known date for arrival. Now it is 1/18/16 with still no delivery date in site or the pickup of our family goods which Champion and Allied had stored away. I had called customer service 12 times from 1/8-1/22/16 with just chaos and recklessness on Allied's part. On 1/22/16 I receive a call that Allied van lines would like to get paid for breaching their contract and defrauding me and demanded full payment. I paid it knowing full incompetent corporations don't care, and that I will sooner or later be force to take them to court.

On 1/23/16 a belligerent driver called me. When I told him the correct pronunciation of my name his true ignorance became exposed by saying, "I don't care how you say your name, but if you don't lose your attitude I will put your stuff in storage." After telling him that he could threaten me all he wants, have a good day and have a supervisor call me, I then hung up the phone to realize this company needs to be investigated by every attorney general's office in the United States for failure to 1) follow company guidelines; 2) defrauding consumers; 3) breach of contracts w/o compensation; and 4) threatening and misleading consumers and just plain being reckless, incompetent and not caring. Please protect yourself and family. Do NOT USE ALLIED VAN LINES OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!

For a move from Texas to London: Both Allied and another mover came and did home inspections. The other moving company came in and gave me an estimate of $5,000 for 2,700 lbs. Allied's estimate was $3,000 for 1,500 lbs for all the same items. I was new to international moving and went with Allied only because they were lower and I assumed their people knew what they were doing when estimating weight. I was an idiot. Actual weight turned out almost exactly 2,700, and Allied charged me $7,000 for the move of that weight. After Allied had all my stuff I was stuck with them.

Advice to movers - Don't go with Allied even if they initially seem cheaper. Look at the weight estimates, expect your actual weight will be the highest estimate, and don't trust any estimates you get from Allied. The actual weight of my items ended up almost twice what their "experts" estimated and I think that was done on purpose. I also had to chase them down once in the UK to find out when my stuff would be delivered. It seems they forgot all about me. They apologized for leaving my stuff on the dock for several weeks without delivering it or even letting me know it was there.

This move has been the most extreme disappointment. We were suppose to receive our household goods and both vehicles on January 5, 2016. We received a call on January 2, 2016 from the driver stating that their vehicle broke down and was not going to be able to deliver our items until January 11, 2016. On January 9, 2016 we get a call from the driver stating that their vehicle broke down again and they are uncertain what day they will be able to deliver our items. I truly understand that things happen in life.

What I don't understand is why a major moving company does not have a plan B when situations come up. The company has been PIF for their services. No one has compensated us for ANYTHING. We are currently without vehicles. We are sleeping on an air mattress. We have no pots or dishes. We have a limited amount of clothing. If services cannot be upheld, then you should be very accommodating. I will not use Allied Van Lines anymore nor will I recommend this company to anyone.

Moved from overseas to Texas. Arrived with my goods and hooked up my fridge. What happen was they did not connect correctly and this caused a close leak and water went under my wooden floors. Contacted them to do a claim and they denied that they connected my fridge (really?). How can such a large company sit there and lie to its customer? Then they said they are not allowed to hook up appliances. Well they did and now they refuse to let me file a claim. I will never use this company again and will reach out as much as possible to warn others not to use. Will also continue to communicate with the military not to do contracts with this company for future use. Sad that such a large company can be dishonest. Sad.

I previously used Allied Van Lines for three cross country moves with excellent results, but the fourth move - from Georgia to California was worse than horrible - it was terrifying. Once my belongings had been moved from my home, the Allied affiliates in Atlanta, Coleman Moving and Storage, while pleasant, were pretty much unavailable when I tried to get information about my date of delivery.

Coleman blamed the non-responsiveness on Hansen Moving & Storage, the Seattle-based Allied affiliate slated to deliver my possessions to me in California. Hansen's driver, when he finally did contact me, was not only unprofessional, he was rude and verbally abusive, even cursing at me over the phone. His out of control rage made me feel that my personal safety, once in his presence, might be compromised so I contacted my local police precinct to keep an eye out on my home and get a look at him when he was there. Moving is stressful enough without fearing for your life. Allied clearly needs to do a much better job of vetting their affiliates, their drivers and their reps. Even though my previous Allied Van Lines moving experiences were good, after this experience, I could never recommend or use Allied Van Lines again.

From San Diego area to Reno Nevada area. Belongings in storage in s.cal for over a year. When delved to our new home, the transporters were very accommodating and friendly. As our loss and damage was observed when unloading..they reminded us that since our belongings had been in storage for some time and then transported..that "it's all been handled and shifted around probably 4 different times". (Don't get me started on damage to items we did receive!)

The guys that deliver were terrific!

BUT, we found that MANY items were missing - lost. It seemed at least two or three entire rooms of belongings that we assumed were packed initially were lost, vanished. We were unable to be present when movers initially packed up. We now believe that many boxes/cartons were not even numbered and inventoried during packing therefore, no way to trace them. Vanished, vaporized. No record of items ever having even existed according to Allied. How could Allied misplace all items, tools, cabinets, ladders, etc in garage? How about the kitchen, food processor, etc. Many things from throughout entire house. Of course some were of great sentiment - ancestral, passed down since the 1800's - now gone.

We went on and on with Allied. They wore us down. We were too emotional, too raw from it all and accepted a paltry settlement. I figure at over at least 20 thousand value items mysteriously gone. We gave up the fight and settled for pennies - too stressful, too tired. The ancestral items inherited that are now gone haunt me. Yes, some had monetary value, but I don't care about that. Can't put a price on family sentiment, history. All our belongings must be "out there" somewhere. But not likely we will ever know. Bottom line, horrible experience with Allied. Do not use Allied.

Wish I had read the reviews before hiring Allied. The truck was too small so our furniture and boxes were crammed into the truck along with someone else's items "that also had to be dropped off in GA". We had items tied to the outside of the truck and on the seat in the cab. The glass on the front of an antique curio cabinet shattered. Instead of paying for the item to be fixed, we received a check for $54. Based on other reviews, that seems to be the token dollar amount. Why are they still in business? This should not have been an insurance claim but something covered by the company for their negligence in sending a truck that was too small for the job!!!
