I supposedly "purchased" a pocket hose through Publishers Clearing House, i.e., I exited the site before confirming the order; the Pocket Hose was sent anyway. I decided to keep it. However, I have had it about 3 weeks and it has blown out. My husband turn the faucet on and it exploded at the spigot. Awaiting a response as to how this will be addressed.

I've been playing for years, never won a thing. Today, 9-8-2013, I won the instant scratch for cash. I got 4 aces - playing 4 aces instant. But my profile winnings, it says 100 coins. It's common with any type of gambling. Never trust them. I recently started to find information that should be available to the public but isn't. I find things like cops that lied in a trial and now somebody says that he's lying. All he will use the info I find to show pattern of lies... **. I was just nominated for entrepreneur of the up and coming - by global directory for those of who's who/For the info and article of my case organized judicial misconduct involving judges, D.As, cops turned over findings to the local F.B.I. investigation so if PCH is scamming people, I'm the guy that does it for everyone. Plus they owe me 40,000 dollars. They're not going to hide behind a scam. I hope I'm wrong.

Last year, I started playing Publishers Clearing House games every one possible and entered all the sweeps. I was sent four to five emails daily stating I had to enter again in each one or forfeit any winnings if my number was drawn. I've stuck with it daily for over a year, haven't seen a cent and I have to say if anyone does win, they've earned it with their persistence although as long as PCH has been around, I don't even know someone who knows someone who knows someone who has ever won anything so I find that to be a red flag... I don't have time for 30 emails a day. I live in the real world, have a full time job, a family to raise leaving me no time to waste with a pipe dream. I don't recommend it but good luck, peeps. I do think it's all a lie at this point... I'm starting to think the winner videos are actors and I think the people posting saying they have won are people with PCH who want you to keep buying their low value high dollar items. Oh well.

I have been playing these PCH lotto games for 17 years and have NEVER won a thing. I also was told that I won the 5000 a week for life and I'm still waiting for my first check. I've ordered several things from them as well because I was told I would have a better chance of winning. The merchandise is very crappy. I ordered the tupperware set and the lids don't even fit. I also ordered a ring that was fake. This place is a ripoff and their doors should be closed forever!!!!

I have been playing all the PCH games and doing their search site for years now. I have yet to win one thin dime. Many, many errors while playing the PCH Lotto and PCH Games, and I know it's them and not my computer. They sell shoddy merchandise. I purchased an item to hang pictures, etc., and all the thing was is a plastic gun that was hard to load and the hangers were PUSHPINS, so could hardly hang a framed picture up with a pushpin now, can I? When I tried to find information on returning this disappointing item, I had no luck. I even wrote PCH to complain and never heard anything back, but did receive a bill. One of the worst things besides never winning anything is that on all their sites (and I do realize that their sponsors make PCH sweeps possible) I get ads, bombarded to look at insurance quotes, home services quotes and a bunch of crap that if I need I will always deal with a company rather than go through a third party. I have a better chance of winning the lottery than I have of ever getting anything from PCH. They need to shut it down!

I'm not gonna go off on a rant, and I'm not gonna judge. I see lots of older people on here as I can tell, and a LOT of people who are on sites like PCH ALL the time. Keep this in mind: you get to enter free. That's even better than the lotto because you don't HAVE to pay. Now, it was your choice to buy the products in the first place as the consumer. You could have gone through your local superstore or other branch or even online through Amazon, eBay, etc. You CHOSE to buy these products on several terms. Either you bought it because you really needed it, you bought it because you THOUGHT you needed it, you bought it because it looked neat, or you bought it because you thought you could win.

Your odds are not higher if you make a purchase. It even says so on the main page! All I'm saying is this. Go live your life. Take a walk outside, find a hobby that you enjoy, buy a dog or a pet, find a significant other. There is no problem getting on the internet, I love it. But seriously, are you gonna let it rule your life? If you're fed up, then quit. It's hard to quit with something like this because it's almost the exact feeling you get if you were to gamble, but you have to know your limits. If you log on for 5 minutes every day, you're not hurting anyone. Same thing if you decide to be on the computer for 24 hours. The only difference is that it's your life and I know for sure that I'm not gonna sit around and "wait" for the chance to go do something; I'm gonna go do it. Hope this reaches the right people and they think about this.

PS: I have never won anything through PCH nor do I play the games everyday. I have played once.

How come when I play the PCH slots, it never lands on the cash as if it's rigged or something? It's always numbers or tokens but never cash prizes. Also, on the PCH bingo, I realize that the most jackpot balls you can get is 4 of them, then after that, the balls keep repeating the ones you already have. One more thing, the scratch-off games is always tokens but never cash. Why is that? Has anyone ever won the cash? I'm dying to know. Please, real people only, because they may have their workers on here pretending to be winners with false winning testimonies.

After the invoice was paid in full, several months later I get a reminder that I had not paid in full the $22 the merchandize was billed. I sent a copy of the original $17 invoice and the 2 money orders. PCH continues to send me copies of a $22 reminder. Since PCH in addition to that violates the settlement agreement with 30 something states, I am preparing a class action to force PCH to stop deceiving customers. The products they sell are worse that most is the fact that they let you make 'payments' which if anyone takes the time to realize what they are paying, would cause them to STOP before ordering! Several years ago I fell for the hype and ordered, but, when the stuff arrived, the first thing I had to do was to return the Leather Organizer Purse since it stunk so bad I could not breathe (I have COPD so it was seriously dangerous)! I called them and sent the thing back. I did not receive a bill that time.

Unfortunately several Years ago I was NOT THAT SMART and everything I ordered was junk! No returns, no refunds and certainly no credit (which suited me fine). Also it caused me to understand that PCH was NOT Customer Friendly!!! You want to but a certain item…SAVE YOUR MONEY and pay retail, or look for a sale in a store! PCH is expensive and they buy stuff they pay pennies for, then, they take your hard earned dollars for the trash!

That's how they get their "MONEY", but do they really pay out what they say they do? I'm betting NO! I for one have entered their "Sweepstakes for 50 Years and play the PCH Games...I can't even win a Token Prize, MONEY? I don't think so plus they seem to stay in one certain area of the Country. What happened to the rest of us?

The Reader's Digest subscription resulted in numerous calls from Reader's Digest to make sure I received the issues ok - BEFORE I even got the first one. Hate such calls! The personal fan I bought vibrated itself right off the desk falling apart on impact and scattering the batteries all over the place. Nothing that I have purchased has been any good and I have not found any way to complain to Publisher's Clearing House. I'm sure they give away a lot of money but the products they push are sub-standard at the very least. The lilac bushes I purchased earlier this spring arrived very puny and I have not been able to revive them.

I joined PCH yesterday and had 0 problems using the site (although I didn't win anything either). However today I clicked on the PCHSlots, received 3 bonus cards (which qualify me for a cash bonus spin). The bonuses jumped down to their proper spot and - BAM! - an error message that stated, "An error has occurred on this page, please click OK to refresh." I clicked OK as directed. The page refreshed and I was back to the slot minus the bonuses. So typical of a scamming company to have an "error occur" when someone actually wins.

I contacted PCH and explained what happened, to which the representative stated, "Our system must have known that it was an error which is why you got the 3 bonuses." So does that mean a person would never get the bonus unless it was an error? In a nutshell, they told me "tough luck" and hung up on me. This scam of a company needs to be shut down. They prey on people and lure them in with huge prize numbers yet do not honor the prize if you win! SHUT THESE PEOPLE DOWN!!!!!

This is a company who makes their money from advertising. So of course they are going to push stuff as much as possible. I have been entering online for a few years now and never had an issue. The odds of winning anything are outrageously high and you can find those on the rules for any of their contests. The fact is you never have to purchase anything but be careful you watch that nothing accidentally ends up in your basket and read before you click continue. At the top of a page it will typically say "Your entry is confirmed or continue on to confirm your entry."

I've never purchased anything so I can have no opinion on quality, but I'm so tired of people complaining about a free lottery. That's what it is, you look at ads and get a free entry. When they say someone in your area with your initials has one you have to read the email or letter closely. They advertise their bigger contests on those but the initial giveaways are usually for $100-$1000, not the grand prize. PCH has been investigated numerous times and they are a legit sweepstakes. Enter, hope for the best, but remember it's a game. Someone wins, most lose.

I can't remember when I've received so many useless begging emails from 1 company. They ask you to search on their worthless search site every day, and then they want you to play mindless games for tokens. Then they want you to play their lottery number picking to win $5000 a week or month or whatever along with emails for slot games and coupons for items to buy and emails for items on sale, WITH asking you to take surveys and buying into insurance plans AND YOU NEVER WIN ANYTHING!!! After receiving all their emails (for 4 years) and playing their dumb games, I haven't even won a stupid $5 coupon as some have said on this Consumer Review Board that they received.

People PLEASE avoid joining this scam company's game. As we all know, the more you search on their stupid search engine, the more hits they get and the more they can get companies to advertise on their site, the more money they get. The more we go to play their lottery, slot games, and all the other pointless games, the more hits they get so that they can get more advertisements and more money. The more we do their surveys, the more companies they can usurp to join in those time consuming surveys, to which we should be paid for that precious time and free personal information that we're giving these companies so that they can have more and better ways of selling us their crap! So thanks a lot Publishers Clearing House for being an all around used ** by selling us all out or more like pimping us all out to every scumbag business out there.

After receiving a confirmation email of the order I didn't want, I called customer service. The representative said it had already shipped.

I got upset and told her I just received an email saying it had not shipped yet. I was persistent, so she told me the order had been cancelled. I thanked her. Several weeks later, the order arrived. What a rip-off Publishers Clearing House. I have only one good thing to point out. The sewing kit was the only decent thing that was of decent quality. I ordered plants and followed the instructions to the letter. They're dead. They never came up. Then they had the nerve to bill me for CD's I didn't order and they sent them anyway. Magazine subscriptions I ordered one and they keep sending me dunning notices even though I paid them. One scammer infiltrated my Facebook account. I blocked him. I played long enough. I'm unemployed and can't finish college. Oh, that's another issue. I'm on their damn lists of online schlock schools. I'm an enrolled student. I don't want to be on their list. The scratch off cards they send are supposed to be winners and they instruct you to sign your name. I haven't seen a penny. $500 is pretty small for them but not for me.

I'm not holding my breath but they should at the very least make good on those cards. Each entry has a specific number on them and I wonder who processes them or are they just chucked into recycle pile? The NYS Attorney General should be involved in this consumer problem with PCH. The stuff as seen on TV is sold in the grocery store. Example, the Orgreenic cookware is supposed to be non-stick. It's not. The compact hose is supposed to stretch out when in use and be lightweight. It does not fit the faucet properly and leaks all over the place. I convinced my mother not to get another one again as they are deemed, pardon my saying, a piece of **. This contest should at least in a favorable light come half way to those who enter. I have played PCH games and used the site for about a year. All I ever won was a five dollar gift card to Amazon, and they tried to nullify that! They said that the way I was using PCH search was consistent with the use of a robot. I didn't even know what the hell that meant. Also, PCH is constantly sending people emails suggesting that they are about to win or by not replying they will lose some great money winning opportunity. I think this is because they know people will give up trying the sweepstakes with the worst odds in America (one has a better chance of being hit by lightning twice while riding a unicorn than winning a big prize with PCH).

Lastly, there is the subject of the trinkets you are "not required" to purchase in order to win. I was informed in my email that I had ordered some crap and sent a bill. I did not order this item from them. I had to call them and argue with some CSR before it was finally resolved. Hint: I did not pay. My question here is if PCH is legit and wants to avoid problems like this, then why don't they charge you for whatever it is they allege you order when you order it? I almost never use PCH now. I purchased lingerie/laundry bags from PCH... the first time I've bought from them. One bag ripped after the 1st wash and the 2nd time the other ripped. Only the bra bags are still intact. Who knows how long they will last? They were not overstuffed, only a swimsuit in one and a dress in another. Further, when I called them about the poor quality of the items, due to high call volume PCH kept disconnecting me after telling me to call back later or go online. If I want to handle an issue, I want to do so while it is in the forefront of my mind and not have to remember to do it later. Give me the option to hold or call back later. Don't make that decision for me!

After repeated calls and hang-ups, I finally got through to representative Windon, who couldn't find my order to save his life. I gave him the number repeatedly, along with my name and address. I told him I found it odd that when I called to pay, they were Johnny on the spot finding it. But when there is a problem, no such luck. He began to raise his voice at me, insisting I repeat my address AGAIN... I told him not to start yelling at me and he began to argue that he wasn't, when he clearly was. I insisted on speaking with someone who was actually competent to assist me. Without a word, he muted the call and left me idle.

I got my son's mobile phone and went through the whole process again. 4 or 5 hang-ups and finally got through to Maria. She was very friendly and helpful. She asked before putting me on hold, was professional the entire time, obtained a supervisor who found Windon, contacted his supervisor and began addressing his issues. That was more than 45 minutes on my cell phone with him. Sarah, the supervisor, who ultimately assisted me, offered to send a refund for the laundry bags and apologized for Windon's behavior. I'm disabled and probably spend more time than I should on the net, but I'm glad it's there! One of my favorite sites is PCH Games. Although you have to watch a lot of ads, you don't have to buy anything. The ads are their fee for using the website! In between ads, there are a lot of really fun games to play. Playing the games earns you tokens that you may exchange for chances to win prizes. Their games are so good that I'd probably play anyway, but the token aspect makes it even better! I have purchased one or two items from them over the years, but not many.

Very deceptive entry forms. You have no way of knowing if you have entered. Advertisements go on forever. And if you decide not to purchase anything, it stops working. You do not know if you have been entered into the sweepstakes. Even if you do not want future email advertisements, they somehow find you; and you spend a lot of time in subscribing from random advertising emails.

Also, I once used over 2 million tokens to try and win a prize but didn't. That seems fishy. Another thing, when I tried to sign in on this site, it didn't recognize my password which I've always used.

I received an email from Publisher's Clearing House saying I was on the "short list" and would definitely win a prize of at least $1,000 if I didn't win the big prize. Well, I didn't win the big prize and I'm still waiting for that $1,000 but I've never heard anything further. I've tried to contact PCH but they've never replied to any of my emails. They shouldn't send out emails telling people that they've definitely won at least $1,000 if it's not true. I counted on that money and while I now realize it was a lie, I'm furious that Publisher's Clearing House got my hopes up like that. They should be prosecuted for fraud, in my opinion.

Now, I paid close to $37.00 with S&H for this fake, and it really ticks me off. I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination. We live paycheck to paycheck and this was a treat for me. Now it's garbage. This is the last time I'll get burned by PCH. Of course, they say that they have a 120-day 100% satisfaction guarantee. You must pay to return it and there is no guarantee they'll acknowledge receipt of it anyway. I'm not going through the hassle of returning it, but I will send a strongly worded letter. I picked a Bingo card, won 500 dollars and I also won last night the 250-dollar treasure chest. I had a doctor's appointment due to burning the nerves in my back. Again I suffer from chronic back pain, lupus and kidney and liver failure. As you can see, I would not want to give up any of my winnings.

I was optimistic when Publishers Clearing House made the move from paper to email. No more hunting through page after page of magazine offers to find the secret stamp to place on the entry form! I should have known it would be just as complicated to submit an email entry to their contest. Now instead of one giant packet a year, I get one multi-page email a week. Up until last week, I would dutifully open it, scan through dozens of email pages of offers and finally click "submit entry." Each week I would receive a follow-up email that told me I had forfeited my opportunity to win or exhorted me to try again before time runs out! Did I do something wrong?

So here I go wasting time at work trying to find a way to have my entry accepted. I finally ordered something I didn't want, in an effort to be told my name might be entered in the contest. Since then I've received many more emails and even a second package from them (which I didn't order and am returning). It's no longer about the opportunity to win the contest. It's not about buying stuff I don't want or receiving stuff I didn't order. I'm really just frustrated that they continually tell me that I'm still not entered in the contest!

Price wise, PCH is usually more expensive. But then again, I'll gladly pay $5 extra just to stay out of Walmart! As for the prizes, they are real. They don't have that many in any given month or year. It just seems like they do because they send so much junk mail.

When entering, you need to carefully read the terms of each entry. They always say you have a chance to win or you have won a chance to enter, not "you have won!" Unfortunately, most people either can't or don't read well. Bottom line, just look at it as convenience and entertainment. Look at the pictures and give the stickers to kids to play with. Years ago, I entered a sweepstakes, and to this day, they will not leave me alone. I have been absolutely swamped with both physical mail and email, charged for products I did not want, need, or purchase, promised that someone with my initials, in my city were guaranteed to win at least $100 threatened that my inaction to respond to their letters/e-mails would result in lost money, etc.

It has been a nightmare. Here is one ongoing scenario. They send me multiple bogus emails every single day, I unsubscribe from their emails, nothing happens; I contact them, they eventually - or not - they respond that I will be removed from their mailing list; I continue to get emails from them. I contact the BBB, they temporarily stop emailing me, but it eventually starts all over again. Last week, they decided to start the cycle all over again; even though I unsubscribed, I am still being inundated with multiple emails from them a day.

So I know that by reporting them yet again, I will only temporarily stop the unsolicited emails. I don't know what else I can do but keep reporting them to the BBB as they flare up time and again. This is by far one of the worst, most unethical companies with which I've come in contact. They advertise major networks winners which do not happen and if so you can trace them to employees to get more money. Stop ordering their products and maybe they will start paying on all sweepstakes as they constantly change games, as to not pay out. Wake up and stop ordering. This funds their company; they must pay and advertise not employees or two-year-old winners but current winners on their site. The videos are over two years old. I agree with most of the posters here about how frustrating it is to enter PCH sweepstakes for years without ever winning anything. Still, it's open to everyone (no matter what color you are or where you live), and there are winners. It's sort of like the lottery. If you don't play, you can't win. But there are no guarantees that you will win ever. So play the games, scratch the cards, and spin the wheel or not. No one says you got to. No one promises you will win. But they do promise you the chance to win. So play or not. I play almost every day, and yes, I get tons of emails that are a bit annoying. But that's what the delete button is for.

Now, about those items you ordered (or not), I found it confusing for a while and noticed how close the 'add to cart' button is to the skip button. And if you are not careful, bam! You ordered something. You have to check closely before you continue to make sure you are not placing an order. And if you do place an order and there is a problem with the order, contact them. There is an 800 number on the website as well as on the order invoice. I received dead Aloe plants one time and complained, and they replaced them. No problem. Sure, the junk is cheap junk but that's why it's cheap. Usually, you can find the same items on Amazon for close to the same price and without the long wait, shipping fees and hassle. But, you are not required to order anything to be able to enter their sweepstakes.

As for website pages not loading or not responding, if you have that happen often and believe it's mostly the fault of my browser (Internet Explorer). So, what I do is keep the PCH email open (minimized) while playing the slots or whatever. And if the malfunction happens, I close and start over from the link in the email. Or try refreshing the page. Sure, you get the little warning that if you leave that page you forfeit whatever prize is pending your play. But that's just baloney. Refresh anyway, and usually things move right along. So far, the fun outweighs the glitches. A couple of times in the past, I have had serious issues with the website's performance that were not due to my browser (I sometimes switch to Firefox for PCH games to be sure nothing messes up), and when that happened, I contacted PCH support via email and received kind and helpful responses. You got to try to meet them halfway.

Now, I have had a couple of issues that tick me off (until I remind my self it's only a game and I probably did not win anyway). This had happened when I get my daily email showing the numbers/games I played the previous day and sometimes I see "You did not play this game" for a game I know damn well I played (or it would not have advanced to the next game, which I did show as played). But I figure the internet gremlins are at play and find something more important to squawk about. After all, I have a computer that works, the internet, electricity to run the computer and a website that lets me play at hitting it rich someday. Yeah, I get those emails telling me my initials are winners too. But I figure it's because I married a cool cowboy who shared his last name with me. LOL.

I was then directed to take a survey. Then was advised I had to pick two items from their list. They were all like a free knife or a book etc. You had to pay a minimum $9.95 shipping charge. Reading further I determined that I was also joining a "club" and they would ship a knife at full price each month; what a rip off. Elderly people might not realize the club aspect and be shipped a product each month. What a scam. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for deceptive trade acts. I am also going to file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General’s Office. I think PCH owes me a Samsung Galaxy III mobile phone.

This morning, I got a second PCH instant prize draw winner scam telling me that I had won $1,000, but needed to provide a legitimate credit score and enter it to claim the prize. The first time (9/25/2012), I fell for it and let your link take me to Experian where I had to provide an SS number to obtain my score and a valid credit card number (which I stupidly did). I never got the $1,000, but did get two charges from Experian (the first for $31.95, which they would not refund and the second for $19.95, which they refunded). Then yesterday (10/29/2012), I got the second promise of $1,000 (this time in the form of a Visa prepaid card). I did not follow the link to Experian this time. Why does this keep happening? Did I really win the original $1,000 and this second $1,000? If yes, why haven't I even received the first $1,000 after over a month's time? Do PCH and Experian both benefit from this scam?

I've been entering these entry opportunities for a year and I really have paid attention up until now on the PCH slots. Why is it when you hit the button and if you get one bonus sign and then another bonus sign, it looks like it's going to stop in the middle but it doesn't. The slot speeds up to get rid of the bonus so you can't have it. And I've noticed I get the same amount of bonuses on every game every day. And on the new instant win games, every game I played, I received the same amount of tokens, 250. So there for PCH, can you fix this? Because that's a really good and cheap way to do business and if this keeps happening, eventually nobody will ever play and you all will be out of business. And that's messed up how you all are basically ripping people off. Am I right or wrong? Please fix.

PCH is good about spamming people. I feel really bad for those elderly folks that don't know any better. I think it's all bull ** because never have I ever heard of anyone nor heard on the news about someone winning! Come on, if someone won 1 million dollars, I do believe they'll mention it but not give the names of the people due to privacy. How long has PCH been around? Many, many years and I remember when I was a teenager going to their website and seeing how simple it was. Now they have so much more. It's the consumers that's paying their overhead and the prizes they give out. They make a fortune off us.

The only complaint I have is they spam mail you. I can't believe how much email I get from them saying that I must enter or I am going to lose the money. Money? What money? I have not entered in those sweepstakes, so how can I lose money I didn't enter into to win. I have a lot of thoughts about those people and I think they are just too good to be true. I wish people would just stop wasting their precious time with them. It's better to just do sweepstakes like on BHG as I do and I have actually won quite a bit as well as instant prizes. Just recently, my mother-inlaw won a Kindle Fire HD. They do pay out but you have to do them daily without fail!

People, leave PCH alone and find sweepstakes that are totally legit and ones that do payout and reward you for your efforts. You have better chances with other sweepstakes than PCH!

I play the slots/lotto for PCH everyday online. I am sick of the same patterns. If anything PCH was doing was for real and not bogus, there would be no "100 cash" as the sixth spot on the lotto scratch instant win card. Every single time I play it, I noticed this and even gathered people around the computer before it shows up to get a laugh out of it. Another thing is the same pattern on the slots. There is no calculable way that, after collecting diamonds, entries are the only spot the wheel lands on. I must have literally played this wheel over 500 times and get the same result. Just today the wheel landed on 6 try again spaces in a row (again, not impossible but uniquely unlikely).

One more problem I noticed is the bonus spaces in the slots. I constantly get the same number on bonuses every time on the same themes (for example, the casino slot always gives you 3 bonus spaces). To sum up my complaint, I would like to say the PCH lotto/slot is fake and a waste of time - the same results come out from each every time you play them. They are wheels and slots. There is no such thing as walking into a casino and spinning the same results or scratching numerous lottery tickets that have a $100 space in the 6th spot of the 6 spaces.

I am always on the computer every day updating and reconfirming my number! Why? One should only have to enter once and not have to re-update every day and sometimes twice to three times. Some items you send such as lotto I cannot play due to my computer security stopping it. The only real question I have is why are you constantly giving your customers the runaround? How can you tell me I am on the winner list with the number 1830 when there seem to be at least 100 out there with the same number? Thank you.

I just read many unhappy, negative comments about PCH. I am flabbergasted. They have an 800 phone number and on occasion, I call if there is a computer glitch, which is normal. PCH personnel are always nice, helpful and solve any problem. On occasion, some interesting item strikes my fancy and I purchase it. If I don't like it, I can return it just by calling the 800 number for help. I love getting to play (right now) the "$5,000 a Week for Life." It is just like playing the lottery. Heh, maybe I'll win...maybe I won't win...so what? It is fun to dream and then, wish whoever does win, good luck. I have done some checking over the years, especially now that we have internet and can find information better, and found out how PCH can make these offers and they are legitimate. If you don’t win, that is only because your number didn't come up just like in the lottery.

If those of you who are complaining would stop and think about where all the money given to the lucky winners comes from, you might realize that all the magazine orders and all the products they offer, produce profit, which they then can use to pay employees and order supplies (it’s called "overhead") and what's left is allocated for the monetary prizes given to us, the consumers, if we choose to participate in the fun daily contests. If I don't enjoy playing some of the contests, I don't play...remember, there are millions of people who play the lottery every day and there probably are millions of people who play this program. Some lucky people win and others don’t. PCH is not a scam or Uncle Sam would definitely sue them and close them down. I am a daily player. It is fun. I love some of the commercials...the cow being pulled up the building then it stops to look at the guy eating a hamburger. It’s cute and I laugh every single time I see it. PCH, you get an "A" from me and a big thank you too. It takes a little edge off of stressful days at work.

I used to believe that there were winners. I also believed that everyone actually had a chance to win. But, that seems not to be the case. Instead, it's just another marketing ploy. Also, when the company says that there is no fee or purchase necessary, that is not true.

After applying for the sweepstakes, I received in the mail a thick envelope filled with paperwork. Of course at the end of this paper work, it said I needed to submit a check for $11-12 for some ridiculous reason. If it says no purchase or fee, they should mean it! Instead, I am sure poor schmucks from all over the country are mailing in their $12 with the hopes of winning. The only winner is the company cashing those checks. I have probably received various letters about being selected by various scammers totaling many millions of dollars of winnings which will be turned over to me if I send them money. Does this sound familiar or am I the only one victimized by these official-looking letters about money being held for you until this money or (horrors) your claim will be null and void. By the way, would pay it rather than lose my chance.

PCH's privacy rules allow them to sell addresses to various scammers. Some even say they are Federal Trade Commission federal officers, and have left me voicemails identifying them as such. The claim that my participation in various PCH offers are contingent upon my sending cash, check or credit card. While PCH denies that they are not a party to these scammers, all the mail is addressed the same, and the consequences are scary to me. I live in a nursing home, in a wheelchair and I am on public assistance. The idea that I have won a large sum of money is almost irresistible. If I had the money, I probably would pay it. In late February, I signed up at pch.com under the impression that I was entering for a chance to win $5,000.00 for life. That's it. I was just entering for a chance to be happy with the American Dream to not have money troubles. I have a 2 1/2-year-old son, and I just want to give him a life that was better than mine. That's it. Well, let me tell you. I had no idea all this "baggage" would come with just entering for a simple raffle. About 2 weeks ago, I got a random bill from pch.com for a balance of $30.19 which said I ordered Country USA (16 tons at $19.96, delivery charge $7.99, and tax $2.24) for a total of $30.19. When I called about this, they told me I had ordered Country USA CDs. I never ordered anything from these people, I hung up on them. I was so mad.

And today, oh my gosh, today was it! I received a big box with 10 packs of bag clips and the Lint Lizard inside the box that was sent to me from pch.com. And of course, another bill had come in from them for $15 and some change. And I once again never ordered anything from these people! So I picked up my phone at 1:30pm and talked to some woman named Gloria. She told me that the $30.19 bill was paid for by a collection agency on February 29, which is ** because this bill isn't due until 05/10/12. And today is 04/25/12. So collection agencies don't get involved normally until you're like at least 6 months behind on a bill. Why would they pay a bill for me that wasn't even due yet?

So this woman Gloria told me that she was going to send me a check for $30.19 in case the collection agency billed me or whatever and to send the box back with the items that were in it with the bill too. She also assured me that I was off over their website completely! She said it would take a couple days for the computers to accept her erasing my email from their system completely, but that was it. But, the more I think about it, why on earth should I pay to send the box and items back to them! They should be paying for it.

These people are here to scam us in a time that our families are at their worst money-wise. They want us to believe we have a chance of winning all that money if we pay their stupid little segments they keep sending us. If we don't pay them for whatever they are billing us for, we lose our spot for an entry! Someone needs to shut these people down, and I am going to go to the attorney-general for these people. All the other complaints are in basically the same position as I am. Someone needs to do something about this. I guarantee there are thousands of people just as angry as I am. I may or may not apply for re-admittance. Time will tell. That is all I will say about that issue, except that I still have the right to represent myself and if necessary, I plan on filing a complaint in the US Dist. Court for the Eastern District of NY. I hope that will not be necessary, and cooler heads will prevail.

You are running a simple scam called "bait and switch". The "bait" is the prize money. The switch occurs when you aver “no purchase is necessary, etc.” and demands a surcharge of some amount, which is around $12.00 to over $100.00, which makes the participation in the "drawing" null and void if not paid. I have received 25-30 official looking envelopes. They are no more than glamorized first class mail, no matter what the outside envelope says.

I live in River Valley Care Center in Poughkeepsie. Welfare or public assistance pays the way. All my SS income goes directly to the nursing home. They give me $50.00 monthly. Obviously, I cannot compete with other entrants. I have been paying the surcharges with a promissory note in the amount applicable and will pay them in turn on June 1st, 2012. Multiple Accounts listed, harassing phone calls: In good faith, with the intention of paying for items purchased and received from Publishers Clearinghouse, I have spent much time and effort writing letters, email and calling customer service. This has been going on since September 2011. Today is Thursday, April 19, 2012, and I have received yet another call from someone who would not say their name or the company represented but stating that I still owe money to PCH, the number called from was 800-542-9453.

I called customer service at PCH at 800-459-4724, explaining again about the multiple accounts that PCH has me listed under. Another CS rep and I had gone over every account she could find. We have gone through each item number ordered, received and paid in full, including the one item ordered but not received and therefore not paid for. She stated at that time that she would have the problem further researched in case we had missed something and that she would notify their collection agency of the problem and our resolution. She was satisfied that I had paid all accounts in full and was showing a zero balance due.

The sweet young thing that I talked to today refused to completely check out the individual items ordered, with their description, date ordered, etc. Once she located one order that stated that I owed $100+, she refused to listen to anything I suggested, stating that the bill was overdue period.

I am so frustrated and tired of trying to resolve this dispute! My health is very poor. I have had Crohn's Disease for 40 years and multiple sclerosis for 25 years. I have about 6 inches of very fragile small bowel left out of the 30 feet I was born with, which causes me to have what is called mal-absorption syndrome. The lack of nutrients plus the inflammation and ulcerations in the colon keep my MS very active, such that any activity at all, simple as walking, talking, reading, thinking, blinking my eyes, anything and everything, causes me great pain and exhaustion. This inability to resolve a situation wherein I have spent so much time and effort to pay my bill, and it has been paid in full, is getting to a situation in which I am going to have to find a lawyer to resolve the issue. If I have to resort to suing to get them to do their job properly, then I am going to ask for "pain and suffering" too.

I have gone the extra mile, done their research for them and asked politely for written confirmation each time that I have written a letter, an email or made a phone call. Only one time, and that was last month, since I started trying to deal with this in Sept. 2011, have I received anything other than a bill. One time I received a list of items ordered, their description and payment received, but that was only one account.

They have accounts listed as Susan **, Susan **, Mrs. Susan ** and Mrs. Susan H. **. Since my husband got involved they probably have payments in his name but not credited to my account(s), and those could be listed as Dennett R. **, Dennett **, Mr. Dennett R. **, Mr. Dennett **, or Denny **.

Since I live in a community in a mountainous area, the USPS will not deliver to each physical address, but to a central post office who then places our mail into boxes which the USPS will not designate as PO address so that all mail and packages delivered by USPS or by private courier must have a two line address for accurate delivery: **.

For city designation we are both/either Big Canoe or Jasper in Pickens County, Georgia (GA). Our zip code is always in debate. The first five numbers are almost always found in whatever it is the delivery people look us up: 30143 but the following four digit code is rarely found: 5107. I would love to know why. I even called the post office once and they differed in their response every time that I asked.

Anyway, you can see there are a number of ways in which PCH can and have listed my orders. Perhaps you begin to understand my frustration.

What more can I do?! I know that each and every item that I received has been paid in full, no dividing any items into multiple increment payments. Many items were bare root plants or bulbs, promised to be sent and received in the proper season and in time for planting. This I could dispute too, but I am not. Many of the bulbs were dried husks and all the bare root plants were already dead. Ordering plants from such a source were a bad decision on my part. Therefore, I will take the responsibility for my poor decision and have paid in full despite their guarantee.

I just want them to send a complete list of each account name and number for which they have recorded an item either ordered, date sent, payment either received or delinquent. That is to say each and every account for which they have a record. It must be all inclusive.

I am demanding that they stop sending my name for collection. They must finalize all bills. They must acknowledge in writing that I owe no money. They must write any collection agency to which they sent my name acknowledging the payment of all debts and send me a copy of each letter. If I should find any item in any credit report that has a negative implication, they shall contact each agency with a letter of explanation correcting their negative report, sending a copy to me. All this must be done within a reasonable amount of time.

If they should find these terms unreasonable, I will listen to a counter proposal. Should we not reach a satisfactory agreement, then I will consider other options available to me.

People who post to this website often refer to the PCH giveaways as a "scam". Actually, they are a clever, carefully-constructed marketing ploy. Neither PCH nor anybody else can make enough money to give away millions every year by giving away millions every year. They make their money by selling merchandise.

When I decided to get involved in the contest, I had been considering two magazine offers. PCH offered both of them, and at a price I couldn't refuse. So, I sent in an order as an experiment, hoping to find out how these giveaways work. Now I know. It isn't pretty, but it isn't illegal either, so far as I can tell.

When PCH sends out a prize packet, they are very careful to note in the Official Rules that "You Have Not Yet Won". Other literature in the packet is worded just as carefully, using phrases like "could be a winner", "eligible to win", "on the Winner Selection List", and so on (does that last phrase - taken from a PCH mailing - shade into illegality? I don't know). Most people who are disappointed at not winning, or who come to believe that the giveaway is a scam, have read the literature as a confirmation that they have already won, when in fact they have been so busy hunting for this sticker and that scratch-off card that they just haven't read what is in front of them very carefully.

That is all part of the ploy - to get you so involved in all the physical activity required by the rules of the contest that you feel invested - you want to win, you need to win, you deserve to win. Sending that packet off so you can collect your winnings is practically a formality, but you include an order as added insurance. (Sure, it is illegal to tie winning to a purchase, but we know, don't we?)

Much of the merchandise PCH offers is cheap jewelry, worthless trinkets, knick-knacks that don't do anything. But some of it is decent stuff that you can pick up for a relatively reasonable price. I got a set of LED flashlights and some Microfiber cloths for what I considered a decent price. The only gotcha - shipping charges; they added about 36% to the price of my order, and accounted for 26% of the total.

Coins are another matter. My latest PCH packet has an offer for a "24K Gold-Layered Bicentennial Collection". The coins are a dollar, a half-dollar, and a quarter-dollar, plus a "free" colorized quarter. The price is 20 bucks, plus shipping. If you found someone to buy two bucks worth of coins for $20, and pay you to ship them, would you sell to them?

Nowhere in the copy is there a statement as to the value (or potential value) of this set as a collector's item - because it has no value as a collector's item and is not likely to attain any. It shouldn't be hard to find a few coin collectors' web sites where you can check. Other companies have made an entire business of this sort of transaction, in which people are willing to pay several times the value of a product even though that value is staring them in the face, in the expectation of future gain. Home mortgage companies made hundreds of billions of dollars on that premise.

There is another gotcha that most people probably don't notice, or don't understand. The recent multi-State Mega Millions lottery game had odds of winning of nearly 176,000,000 (176 million) to one. That is a number equal to more than half of the population of the United States. It is such a large number that at least one media commentator chuckled as he read it; he obviously felt that the chances of winning were so slim as to be laughable. Still, three people did win - cold comfort to the other millions who bought tickets (I certainly felt a distinct chill).

Michigan runs a lottery game called Lotto 47 that offers odds of nearly 11,000,000 (11 million) to one, more than the total population of the State. In other words, if every resident of Michigan, plus a few million people from Ohio and Indiana, bought a different ticket, one of them would win.

Now check the odds of winning the various PCH giveaways. One of the latest packets I got put the odds of winning Giveaway 2184 at 191,000,000 (191 million) to one, odds greater than those of winning the Mega Millions Lottery - and that for a mere $15,000 prize. Even a tiny prize totaling $170 (1 at $100, 1 at $90, and 1 at $80) had odds of 318,000 to one (Giveaway 2506). Those are the odds of winning any of the prizes, not just the top one.

The really big prizes have odds that resemble astronomical quantities. Giveaway 1830, which seems to have move lives than a large herd of cats, has odds of winning of 1,215,500,000 (almost 1 and a quarter billion) to one. To put that in perspective, the odds of winning the Mega Millions prize were nearly seven times better than the odds of winning the big PCH prize. And, to put it into truly astronomical terms just for fun: at those odds, if you (with help from Bill Gates) bought a different lottery ticket for every mile that lies between the Earth and the Sun, it would still be 13 to 1 against you winning the big prize. That is true for a lottery like those run by the various States; I have no idea how PCH actually computes its winners.

Magazine Subscription Cincinnati Magazine - I have been told repeatedly by Publisher's Clearinghouse that I am a valuable customer since 1967 and to submit entries into their contests to be entered into the next level of their contests. I have entered pretty consistently and now I'm so dissatisfied and cannot cancel a subscription that I'm not going to order anything ever again! Their website is supposed to have a way to cancel subscriptions but it just took me back to the same information and was unable to take care of the problem. I have never won a single thing.

I paid for wild birds magazine which I have never received. I then received another magazine that I did not order. I have sent three letters asking PCH to cancel the magazine which was not ordered and to refund or send the wild birds magazine. PCH will not respond in any fashion. I feel that I have been cheated. PCH cashed my check. I am 69 years of age. I think that PCH just rips off older people. Bird watching is my hobby. I am highly disappointed in PCH.

Change payout method - I keep getting emails telling me to confirm or change the way money would be paid in case of a win. One is over 30 years and the other is a lump sum. It is set at the 30 years and will not allow a change to lump sum. I never selected the 30 year method; the lump sum is what I selected. Also, I selected to contact you by phone, but keep getting this page.

Your "Subject Line" is too short. I received an email as well as a written letter from PCH charging me $27 plus for a CD of Michael Jackson, which I did order, but did not receive. Additionally, I have been threatened with late fees and collections costs. All I have to say is that PCH is the absolute worst company I have ever done business with on any level. I wish them well in their attempt to collect for something that has not been delivered.

Further, your "customer service" website provides no way to send you a return email and it loops around evading a spot to send written notice the very same way that their "contest emails" do when you attempt to enter. You get "cancel" or "OK", but never get to the point. Whoever sets up their IT is either criminally stupid or following some very contradictory instructions from management and to what end, I cannot imagine. If you are a smart consumer, stay away and if the lure of winning is what is driving you to them, then try and look up some past winners and see how far you get.

I selected items using their credit voucher program. There were three items ordered, and the entire order was $397.73. There was a bedroom set for $199.00, a set of china, and a home security system. These two other items were in each under $100.00. When I received the notification, the items would be delivered within 10 to 14 days. I have yet to receive anything from Publisher's Clearing House, and found that they charged my Target, Visa account for three items on February 9, 2012, for a total amount of $643.97.

I have yet to receive anything, and was angry they are costing interest on merchandise I never received. I should have known better, but attempted to call the phone number they had on their information card, and all that number does is ring. So I called the Visa people, who also tried to call the number, and got the same result. I no longer want the items, and there is no point in sending them, as I want nothing from these cheats, and only want the account replenished. The woman helping me with the Visa account has placed a notice on that account. I know no other way of contacting this Clearing House, but others should be aware of these tactics that are irreprehensible at best!

I appreciate the email entrance sending, but I want you to send them so that they can conclude your program. It sends me to 'continue', 'continue', 'update your address', 'continue', back to 'update your address', etc., and never takes me to the 'confirmation of entry' part. I'm getting tired of your failure to complete your email sending. This failure has already cost me contest entries.

I received a $400 voucher for the laptop notebook. The computer was listed at $679.00, and when the computer was received in the mail, the first day it would not turn on/boot up. I proceeded to call the company, and they advised me to ship it back where it would be repaired and returned. I received the laptop approximately a month later, and when I turned it on, one screen would appear on the display and freeze, and I would not be able to use it at all. I proceeded to phone the company a second time, and they put me through to a help line and tried to walk me through the necessary steps to enable my laptop to function. But after approximately half an hour, my laptop still would not work correctly.

I then proceeded to ask them if they would give me my money back, and they told after 30 days, I cannot receive a refund. I then stated that I would just like my money back, because of all the problems I have had, and do not want to deal with the hassle of repeated calls to try and correct the same problem. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you might offer. Thank you for your time concerning this matter.

Other than spending a small fortune with them & their ** promises that "I'm in the winning category" for 40 stinking years(!) they say, "No purchase necessary," but then there are "mailings" that say "For Orderers only." Even on their Online games, it's nothing but a bunch of crap! I may get 3-4 "Diamonds" on their slots. I go "collect" to play & I have no "Diamonds"! PCH, their motto is pay more - get less!" I find the very same stuff they sell for less here in this city! I don't even have to pay s/h charges! People order from them because they think they might win some bucks! PCH gives false hope for their greed! They take advantage of people for their own financial gain! They suck! They are robbers/liars/cheaters/thieves and prey on people who can't afford to buy! But hey, they, PCH, are raking in millions (if not billions) on the backs of people who order from them! They make me sick!

Your response on March 9, 2012 has raised new issues that need clarifications. First, as I recall, at the beginning of October 2011, all materials received from your company had made references to the Giveaway No.1830 for a one million dollar grand prize. In your sweepstakes fact sheet, you stated that the Giveaway No.1830 ends on February 28, 2015. The assumption is that you have only one grand prize to giveaway with 1830.

Your reply on March 9, 2012 indicated that Jason ** of Pocahontas, AR was the winner for the one million dollar prize which was awarded on February 29, 2012, and according to the company, the materials were from Giveaway No.1830. On March 10, 2012, I received a new package from your company promoting a super prize event on April 15, 2012 from Giveaway No.1830 of one million dollars.

Furthermore, your company had claimed to conduct a draw on November 30, 2011 from Giveaway No.1830 of one million dollars. Is your company claiming and indicating that the Giveaway No.1830 is in fact a multiple grand prize every other two months instead of just one super prize? Second, who is the winner of one million dollar from the draws on November 30, 2011? Third, please display a website or some online sources where consumers can track your drawing result from each claimed super prize event.

There needs to be a place for consumers to verify the validity of your claimed events and drawings, instead of receiving your marketing and promotion materials for one event after another without knowing if there was ever a drawing that took place or a winner in reality in those claimed drawings. By law, these events and their winners need to be factual.
