I have COPD and after an incident where I passed out and wasn't found for a while, my wife said we're gonna have to get a medical alert device for me. I was shaken up that time but once I got the GreatCall device, I have more confidence about getting out and around. I knew I had help if I needed it. I had one question early on and their customer service team answered that immediately. They also showed me how to test the device so it would give me a sense of security and it was working fine. That was an excellent time. The GreatCall fits into my lifestyle. I wear it around my neck and don't notice it. However, it's weird taking a shower with it. I wish it was smaller and cheaper, too because we're both retired and it's something we didn't plan for originally when we did our budget. But my wife and I both feel better that I've got it. That's the important thing.

I had polio and I don't walk anymore. I'm in an electric wheelchair and I can't take care of myself. But I have my husband and we just moved close to my daughter 'cause I don't wanna go to a nursing home. I was just depending on my cell phone with Splash, which seems to work. It's got an emergency push so that's what I was gonna use. And it's a good price for $30 a month. When I bought it, the representative on the phone said to try it and say that it is a test when they answer right away, so they don't send somebody to our house. He was very polite and good at explaining.
I normally wear the device every day around my neck and under my shirt. Sometimes I forget to turn the blinker towards me and people would ask about what is blinking under my shirt and I'd tell them that's nothing. I don't know why I just don't like to tell people I have it unless they're also disabled. I've never used it yet but I've told a lot of people and they have ordered it as I belong to a post-polio group. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

I live alone and I felt I could have something like a medical alert device where I can be able to get ahold of an emergency personnel. I'm glad I got GreatCall. There were three times that I had to get ahold of them because I left it in my pants and it went through the washer but everything was okay, it still worked and I really like it. One of the customer service reps wanted to call to make sure I had everything turned on and then one of the other ladies would call and ask me a few questions about the payment. What had happened was I was there trying to get out of these credit card debts so I had her to put it on my debit card rather than a credit card to make it easier. That way I can be able to keep track of it and everything was good.
GreatCall put my mind at ease and it has helped my daughter. She lives about two and a half hours away and she was concerned too about me if something happened. It's a good thing to have and I'm not limited to just here at the house. I can be able to go on my car or to the store or whatever, and have it with me to where I can be freer away from my home.

I fall easily and I'm over 300 pounds so it’s hard for anybody to put me up, so I got a medical alert device. I had one before but it would not work outside of my house. This GreatCall works wherever I go. I don’t leave the house usually but I have to go out since the specialists don’t make house calls. The reps are very nice and polite and usually on time and don’t take a lot of time. They do vitals and question me if I’m hurt or if I want to go to the hospital. I once needed to go to the hospital, and they took me. When I called the first time, I asked them to make sure they had strong people because I’m so big. They usually send four people out to see, and they do a wonderful job.
I got the neck alert device because I can’t wear a wristband or bracelet. My daughter got me some necklaces that I can use. Right now my thing is flashing on and off. But I know once it flashed red and I wasn’t sure what that was, but it meant that I needed to charge it. I have people ask me about it every once in a while. If I have to be in the ER and people have to wait, sitting in the waiting room or when I am in the doctor’s office, they notice and ask questions about GreatCall, and I tell ‘em what I can.

I had developed what they call POTS - Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. Sometimes it causes my heart to race, and I blackout. The heart doctor said I was all right now and to just take these pills in case I have a stroke or a heart attack. My wife said she would feel better if I had one of those alert devices in case I got into a problem because I'm old and I'm bad about getting out to do stuff. When I called up GreatCall to order the device, the rep was knowledgeable and sociable. It went very well. I wanted one to wear on my belt, but they didn't have that, so I just carry mine in my pocket when I go out of the house.

I’m living alone and I’m 93, and for the last few years my kids have had me on a similar medical alert device but just for this area through the hospital in West Lake. Because I travel, they decided I needed something more that could travel with me. One of my daughter-in-laws’ father had GreatCall Splash and they thought this was better than what I had. I wear it almost all the time except if I’m really dressed up and I have my daughters with me. At night, I put it in the battery stand but it’s right by my hand, so it would be no problem getting it. I had it when I went out to California because I was without close help. The only thing that I would recommend is there should be some way that they would connect with me to see that I was all right with their device.

I'm soon 92 and I don't walk very well, so I don't leave the house. I also have a housekeeper living here who insists I wear the GreatCall medical alert if I go outside, but I don't go very far, just to the backyard because I grow chrysanthemums by a pot, although I do that sitting down. That's about all I do other than going to a masseur and a military doctor. I fell a couple of times, but my housekeeper was here. Therefore, I've never used the device because if I go to town, I'm with her and if I were to fall, she's there always. But I know the device is there. I just never used it.

GreatCall best hours to reach you. For two days, morning, noon, and evening, I have called the customer support line, the order number, and Contact Us number (3 different numbers). I waited over 5 minutes on each call before hanging up, the longest, just now at 5:27 minutes. This is unacceptable. Remember the population you are working with: infirm, frail, elderly, and their exhausted and anxious family.
Delta Airlines offers an automated call back option. If you can't wait on hold you can request a callback and you do not lose your place in line. I tried to email this to you but your online email "apologized" because that form "could not be submitted. Please try again later." WHAT? So, because I can't reach you in an acceptable time frame I am now moving on to another company that has more accessible support and customer service. You may be losing other customers for the same reasons... I thought you should be aware that you are severely understaffed and your technology, which is UBER important in this type situation, is inadequate. Cheers.

I'm 91 years old and I'm slowing down. I live alone and my children thought I needed to go to a facility, but I told them I'm not ready for that and I wanted to stay in my home as long as I can take care of it. Then they thought of getting an emergency alert system and that sounded good, so that's what we did. I'm very happy with it and I use it everyday. I feel I'm in good care and protected. If I have an emergency, I have the device to rely on. Otherwise, I'll just keep my doors locked and try to be safe.
I always put GreatCall's device in my pocket because I don't like it around my neck, but I keep it with me. There was an incident when it was in my pocket and I leaned up against the dresser and the device went off. GreatCall answered it immediately. They asked me if everything was okay and I explained to them what happened. They were right on the ball and I'm very happy with that. I haven't had to call them for any incidents or anything. I would recommend them to anybody. I'm trying to get my older sister to use it and keep it with her all the time since she has fallen a few times and messed herself up the last time.

I ordered a phone from Amazon for my mother at the beginning of June. The phone arrived and we called GreatCall to activate it. After hours on the line with customer service, the phone was never able to be activated. We returned that phone and received another phone, pre-activated, from GreatCall. After trying out the service for a few weeks, we found the service to be unreliable (e.g. every third word of a conversation would be unintelligible). Per GreatCall, we returned the phone to the Product Support Center in San Diego, CA.
Now, GreatCall is refusing to refund the cost of the phone, citing that we are beyond the 30-day refund period. GreatCall is insisting the 30 days began when we received the first phone. This is unacceptable. How can one try the service and phone if one does not have a working phone in their possession? One representative told me a refund was being processed and would be finalized within 21 business days of July 26; that window has past. Another representative said our request for refund was denied because the first phone was never received back. If that were the case, why did Great Call send us another phone? This is unacceptable. I feel this company is preying on the elderly population, those whom they claim to serve and it is deplorable.

I had Medical Alert and it took up the phone lines. I'm in Florida, with Florida Flicker and Flash, wherein we never know when we're gonna have the lights and phone out. Also Medical Alert only went for 500 feet around my property so if I go to the neighbors or I take off for lunch with the girls, it's no good. My son and his boys at the law enforcement here gave me the money to get GreatCall instead because it goes wherever I want to go. I put the device on my hip bands every day. I'm 80 years old and have bad arthritis. I've had both knees replaced and if I fell, I couldn't get up. I live alone, so the medical alert device is my security blanket. The price of GreatCall Splash was half as much as other medical alert devices and they would go anywhere. I call once to the reps because I thought somebody was trying to get in my house, and the reps called the police and had the police come out. And they stayed with me on the phone which was very comforting. They sent me a new charger when I had trouble and it still didn't work, so they sent me a new phone. I love it. I wear the device around my neck unless I'm going at something fancy and I put it in my purse. But I keep it with me all the time. I don't go to the basement unless I have the device on and hang it by the shower when I take a shower in case I fell in there and it's a great comfort to me. I have recommended them to several people.

I purchased a GreatCall Splash for my mom early July 2015 from Amazon and she has had numerous issues charging it and now just a little over a year it will not charge at all. She called me today and said she has been trying to call the company and cannot get through and when she did finally have an option for them to call her back they have not. I myself was on the phone for over 15 mins and never got through so I sent an email for them to call her and let me know if we're able to contact my Mom. I have yet to get an email or call letting me know I filed a complaint.
We bought this as Mom has to have an emergency device since she is not so mobile and has health issues and at the time it had good ratings and the company is San Diego based so we were hoping the customer service would be better. The battery failing after only one year is not acceptable when a lot of elderly are on a fixed income like my Mom and cannot afford to buy a new device every year. I am hoping they will step up and help with this issue if not we will have to research a new device.
GreatCall is an inbound call center. For troubleshooting via email or social media, we provide basic steps that resolve most issues once performed. The best resolution for any issues is to speak directly with our customer service, with the device in hand. We understand that your time is important and we want you to be aware when the call volume is high, if you continue to hold your call will be answered in the order that it was received.-GreatCall Operations

One time as I was going out the door, I hit the sidewalk and fell and there was nobody in my little complex. Luckily my neighbor’s daughter arrived and called the ambulance for me. Since I live alone, I thought that a medical alert device would be a good investment and GreatCall was the cheaper one. So, that's what I took and I wear it everyday. I have accidentally hit the button one day and they answered right away. Their reps were very friendly. They made sure that I was okay. I told them that I accidentally hit the button when I was getting dressed and that it was not an emergency but they were very nice to me.
I feel more confident now that I carry it with me wherever I go. The only time I take it off is at night when I charge it right by my bed. The only thing I am disappointed with is that it didn’t have a thing to put around my neck. Usually they send a little neck chain to put around the neck, and that one didn’t have any when I bought it. I've also seen on TV where they could put them on their pants. But, one of the girls made me one that goes down into my bra because it's too heavy to wear it around the neck. I wish they were a little bit lighter but I figured it's good enough for me. I live alone, and have fallen about three times in the last couple of years, so I wanted to have something that could get somebody out here a little faster than wobbling to the phone. I'm still independent and still get around. And I'm very careful about where I go and what I do, but I've had hip replacement and back surgery, and so I walk a little wobbly. I use a walker, but not in the house. I have a GreatCall, and I like it because it's not as expensive as the one I had before. I also like that it's mobile, and I can take it wherever I go. Since having it, I have fewer worries. I've called to test it and they’ve always been very nice and they've helped me. I keep it in the little charger thing and it's fairly local to where I'm at in the house. My house is very tiny so it's been fine and I've always had it with me if I needed it.

My sister and my brother were here and I was in Florida. My husband passed away and I sold my house and I moved here and was always okay, but all of a sudden one day I woke up and I was on the floor. I had passed out and they found out that I lack salt. My sister was worried that something is going to happen so after I passed out that first time, she decided that she'd look into GreatCall. She got all the information and the next thing I know I had it.
One day I've got out of the shower and I went to put the device around my neck again but I dropped it and right away somebody was on and asked me if I was okay. And one time when my sister and I were out and I tripped over something so I fell and it was two seconds a man from GreatCall was asking if I was okay and what happened and I explained to him that everything was fine.
It makes you feel a lot easier about being out and about to know that you're being monitored. I take the device off when I go to bed and put it in the charger, and also when I get up in the morning and have to take my shower, but I put it back on right away because I know that if I fall I don't have anything to warn me that I might fall. Since I've been doing the salt tablets I haven't really had any problem, but I still wouldn't want to be without this gadget because you just never know.
I would very much recommend it to anybody that was having the problem that I have. I'm very satisfied with it. I feel safer knowing that if I fall I get somebody talking to me through it right away. I also have a thing outside that has a key to my house in it, that the firemen have a key to that, so they can open that up and get in if they need to, which makes me feel safer, too. It makes it a lot easier on a person when you know that you're not going to be waiting on the floor or have hit your head on something and nobody knows.

I live alone and I kept falling over and fainting. I thought it would be a good idea to have something handy and the GreatCall did come in handy. In April, I was working out in the rose garden and I came to step up on the sidewalk. I misjudged the height of the sidewalk and caught my toe, fell forward and hit my head on the concrete step above. I split my head wide open. It was serious and I could not get up off the sidewalk and go into the house to call an ambulance. I was sitting there bleeding like a stuck hog and I realized I had my GreatCall on, which I wear all the time. I pushed the button and sure enough, someone answered within a second or two. She asked how she could help me and I described my problem. She thanked me and within minutes, 10 minutes at the very most, I heard the ambulance siren coming.
Later on, as I was sitting there on the gurney waiting to be taken to the hospital, the lady from GreatCall called back to see how things were going. The medics were still working on my head and I asked one of the EMT fellows to answer the call for me. The lady was quite nice and she wanted to know if the EMTs were there and what had happened. I know she constantly got it right by her and it's there for her safety. GreatCall makes her, me and the whole family feel a lot better. I can be outside and if anything happens I know she can get to me with it. And if they missed the button they can tie me in with her to the dispatchers. I wear my GreatCall Splash medical alert device every day and take it off at night. Sometimes I don’t put it on when I'm around the house, but I put it on when we go out to the store, where things could happen. Everything is fine. I’m getting used to it. In fact, I have no difficulties with it at all. One time, I took it off and the cord got tangled near the unit and it touched the button, which caused it to go off. A call came immediately and scared me. I wondered who was calling with that thing, and I tried to answer. A lady called first and I had a hard time understanding her. I hesitated and then a man answered, and he came through with what the situation was and it was very clear in his reply so I told him it was by accident. I told him what happened. I was very happy that the response was adequate. I’m careful of what I do now so I don’t get myself caught up in stuff like that.

I had fallen once, I live alone and I'm 82 so getting GreatCall was a precautionary kind of thing. I used Medical Alert before but I found their equipment faulty. It's not working and I found a lot of trouble using it. On the other hand, the GreatCall device works wonderfully and I never had any trouble with it. I've only called them to check and see if it's working properly. Also, it goes a long time before I have to put it back on the battery charger. However, the first wristband I got kept falling apart within the first couple of weeks that I had it. The little silver part that you attach to put it together with fell off and I couldn't get it fixed so I ordered a new one. This wristband piece of plastic cost $19. How in the world could something that must have cost somebody 50 cents to make them in factory could possibly be $19. But the device itself is so far superior with my experience with Medical Alert that I'm not unhappy that it cost that much to replace.

I'm living alone now and although I don't have any medical problem there's always a danger of falling since I work out in the yard cause I have a half-acre here. A lot of my friends said as soon as I became a widow that I need to get the medical alert device, so I took their recommendation and got it. I'm very satisfied with it. I wear it on my waistband and a couple of times I've hit it against the kitchen counter, then it's gone off and they responded very quickly. I just let them know that I was okay. Originally, I was going over to Britain and I know it doesn't work out of the country. But then, I was going on a trip to New York state, although I had to cancel that, but they assured me that it works anywhere in the country. I recommend GreatCall.

When I go on vacation I go by myself a lot and with GreatCall I feel like if I go somewhere and something happens I can just push a button and hopefully they’ll be there to help me. I was taking a trip to Colorado by myself, driving in the mountains and stopping on some dangerous terrain. I am a senior and I felt that if I had the GreatCall medical alert device along, I would be a little more safe. I wanted to try it out there to see if it really works, but I didn’t because I don’t want to abuse my privileges. I used it one time to though to see if it actually works. Their team was very nice and even though I told them it was only a test, they still wanted to know if everything was okay.
Every morning, when I get up and get dressed, I put it in my pocket and keep it with me. I have that little hook on the end of it and I attached that to the edge of my pocket and put it in my pants so that I don’t lose it. I ordered a little case for it to clip on to my belt, because I thought that would be the best way to keep it with me all the time but it’s too bulky, and so I don’t use it that way.
I keep it on most of the time, except in the pool and in the shower. So far, I’m happy to have it. I definitely would recommend GreatCall to a friend. I’ve told people about them and the people that recommended it to me have used it more than I have. They misplaced theirs and couldn’t find it so they called and GreatCall told them where it was.

My husband had another medical alert which I didn’t like because it was only for the house and maybe 50 feet around the house. I told him it’s no good and that if he goes and drives off, takes the dog for a walk or for a ride and something happens, he can’t even call. He says he has his cellphone. I said that he still has to punch in. He had Parkinson’s Disease and passed away in January 2015, so that’s when I made the complete change because I didn't want that. I’m very computer-oriented already, so I said that there has to be something better, something that works like a telephone and GreatCall is exactly that.
The first time I used it, I told them to tell me where I was and the GreatCall team told me exactly up to the street and house number. They did a super job. They’re always there and very courteous. When I'm upset, they are able to calm me down, which helps a lot. I’m 80 years old right now, so in case I have an emergency, I feel I can just push the button and somebody will be there. I take it with me all the time – if I travel, then it’s with me. When I go out and leave the house, it’s in my purse. If I drive further to friends, I take it with me. And if I go to Arizona, it’s with me at all times there too.
My brother is also able to know where I am. I’ve given permission for him to be able to follow me on his computer if he ever needed to. I have had several calls to get a new one, and I say I have my GreatCall and I don’t need another one. They do just the right thing. As long as it keeps using the GPS, that’s the most important part. I like it and I feel more secure having it.

Sometimes I can respond, and sometimes I can’t. I've asked them for the interval between me pushing the button, the phone ringing and me finally responding because that would tell me the time interval between me pushing the button and finally being able to talk. I’ve called twice and was unable to get that time. But when I asked for a replacement lanyard, they mailed me one.

I pushed the button to test it once. Back in January, unfortunately, my sister passed away up in Brooklyn, New York. I live in Florida and I was up there in New York, and my sister lived in an apartment building on the sixth floor in Brooklyn, New York and I pushed that button and they knew exactly where I was.
As a matter of fact, I lost it at one time. I couldn’t find it anywhere. I volunteered at the State Park, I thought it was there. I thought it was in my car. I never could find it. But I called GreatCall and they found it. It happened to have been under my bed. It slipped out of my pocketbook and went underneath the bed. And so I actually upped my monthly payment so that I have if anything happens to it, it can be replaced. I just think it’s the only one to use. I love GreatCall and I've been touting it to all my friends. I told friends of mine who have the machine in the house and then they have to call and the phone rings and all that, I said, “No, no, no. She hasn’t had to really use it yet but everything that we’ve encountered so far has been great. We had no problems with the process of getting it, of her using it and keeping it charged. But once in a while, she'll hit it accidentally.
On my computer, I know where she’s at all the time, even though she doesn’t like to have anybody know where she’s at all the time. She still drives, so that gives me a real good feeling that I know where she’s at. The price is good and everything worked out great. If she needs it, it’s there for her to use. About a year and a half ago, I took my pill, laid back for 30 minutes and when I got up again, I fell and couldn't move. The only way I was able to get to the phone was by scooting a little bit. I had one phone that I could jerk down with a card and it took me a while to get there. I first thought, "How long can I lay here and still live?" I thought I got to do something. Since I had the surgery, I decided I need a medical alert device because I am walking today and I am standing by myself.
With GreatCall Splash, I have the assurance that I can call. At one point, I decided I would try another brand and I liked it because the button was so much smaller and it was attached to where it wouldn't come off. But then I couldn't talk through the system and I had to be at the base or carry my base with me. So, I decided I was going to stay with GreatCall because I like that I can talk into it and it goes everywhere I go. What I don't like about it, though, is the piece that slides in there that has the little hole where I can connect it on my necklace or I can slide the wristband gets to where it stays open and the wristband can slide out after I slide the wristband a number of times. I've woken up in the morning and the backing thing was on my bed.
One time I was taking a shower and it fell off on the floor. I'm hoping GreatCall will come up with a better system where the watchband will stay on with it. GreatCall had sent me a new backing but after a period of time, it's stretched out too and so I'm tying it on with the fish cord and it works great. I have to wear the device around my arm instead of around my neck because I have positional vertigo. With my wristband, I have a little lightweight feeling. I don't feel it's there but know it's there when I need it.

But after about four days, I was like “Where is it?”
I’ve recommended GreatCall to three people. I feel more confident having it. I fall all the time, because I stumble over my feet. If I’m hurt I can certainly push the button. I tested it once with my daughter and she was totally amazed and very impressed at how soon they were there on the line and asked what can they do and what do I need. Then a couple of weeks ago I hit it by accident. I stayed on the line and told them I was sorry and I pushed it by accident. I’m 90 years old and my husband passed away about a year and a half ago and I’m all by myself. I have one neighbor on one side that fell and she laid there for two hours. She’s my age and she broke her arm. And the man behind me was going outside and he fell on his face and broke his nose and his wrist. And so I thought I'd better get an alert device for myself. I fell once in the backyard as I was watering my Plumeria trees. They’re in real big pots and I have a hose in one hand. I was watering and I saw one of the big pots fell over. So I leaned over to pick up the pot and I fell down on my back. I laid there in the sun and I don’t know how long before they came but I was sure glad I had GreatCall medical alert.
Last night, I’ve gotten up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and came back to bed. Usually, I'd sit on the edge and throw my feet over. For some reason, I didn’t sit back far enough and I slid off the bed down to the floor and I was laying on my back. Thank goodness I was close to the stool which I put right by my bed at night. So I scooted over, got a hold of the device and called, and they came and picked me up. I wasn’t hurt but they were supposed to call my son so he could check up on me but they didn’t call this time. I told them about it and they said they’d look into it and call me in 2-4 days.

I had a stroke last March 13th, I live alone in an apartment building and I'm going to be 89 in January. Then I didn't even know I walked across the street to the hairdresser's by my niece's car and forgot that I was with her. So I had my younger friend who is my exec. look up GreatCall and the different things on the Consumer's Report. She printed out something for me and picked another one but I had seen the ads in a lot of papers about GreatCall already. I also saw them in The Parade as well as in AARP and I liked the idea that it was small. I thought that that was the best one and the price was also significant. But it took me a long time to finally go around and get it. I still use the walker in the morning and in the afternoon then in the evening before I go to bed I use that. I love it!
I take it with me when I go on trips. My sister got something else, but it doesn't work outside. She goes to her house in New Jersey and it doesn't work. So I told her about GreatCall and she is going to come so that she can see about it. However, I had written a letter to the company a couple of months ago because I'm going to Europe plus I'm going overseas again and have two or three more trips coming up. I wanted to know if there was a device that I could get over there because I'm pretty sure that this one would not work. But it has never been answered so I am annoyed beyond relief and I will one day get it. I think that they have little to do because I used the address that was on the thing and I'm well identified but it was not answered and that's a very negative thing. I'm going to India this time and I would like to have it.
The first time I've used it, I put in, pushed the button and the lady came right on. I thought it was blinking but she said that's what it's supposed to do. So I haven't had to use it. I also like the size and its gray color because it's functional for me. But the chains bother me a little bit so when I first get up in the morning, I put it in my pocket. I have different ones and I've tried the length that's between my breast and my waist so when I wear loose clothes it doesn't show. But it's on my neck all the waking hours because I don't have pockets usually in my clothes. However, lately I've been putting it around my pocket because I have arthritis in my neck and my head and anything around my neck bothers me. But when I go out, it's with me until I go to bed at night when I have to charge it.
I would never not have it. If I get up during the night, and I do at least twice, I'm thinking somebody's watching when I do so I turn the little light on. Then the first thing I do is reach down and pick up the Splash, put it over my head, get the walker and walk to the bathroom. If I have a robe on, I put it in the pocket. So I take that with me and when I come back, I very simply put it on the thing that makes that little ding-dong then I get back into bed and wake up at either 6:30 or 7. I'm a big advocate of it because I like the literature and it says you need it when you feel funny or think somebody's in your house. Nobody ever thought of that but that's what you have it for. All the others just think it's about falling. So I'm careful but this little baby on my neck gives me that assurance that I feel very comfortable being alone.

It just felt better having it with me. However, I'm having trouble with it not staying charged for about a month now. That works for a couple of hours, but it's going out again, so I'll have to call them again.
One time, I accidentally pushed the button and they thought I had an emergency and the gentleman was very kind. I thought it was just as good that it happened because now I know exactly how it works if something did. I found it very easy to use and it would work in any place in the United States which I was most grateful for. My wife passed away while I wasn't home, and I didn't like the experience. So I was worried about my children finding me dead because I live alone. Having the device gives peace of mind about my children. GreatCall was quick to respond once the button was pressed, because when I had it in my pocket and I bumped against something, I heard a voice and then I figured out what it was. When I'm at home, I wear it around my neck and the majority of the times when I'm out, I put in my pocket. I like the size of the device.

I'm on the road a lot and I particularly like GreatCall Splash because I can have it with me if I had problems. I always wear it when I'm driving so it's very helpful. If I'm working outside, many times, I put it on my wrist. But if I'm traveling, it's around my neck or in my purse, close at hand. I'm glad I've got the device and I've enjoyed it although it's a little too big and it does fall off of that little metal wrist thing that I bought but it's better than nothing. As I get older and get more prone to falling, I will add the fall detection too.

It would have been nice if I'd had the medical alert device last year. I work in the yard a lot and fell in the yard flat on my back and nobody was around in my neighborhood home during the day. I had a chair that I was sitting in trimming some bushes and had to crawl over to get to that chair to push myself up. If I hadn't had the chair out there, I wouldn't have been able to have gotten up and I'd be lying there till somebody saw me. That convinced me that I needed something. I'm almost 86 years and a widow, and everybody's been asking me to get something.
I didn't know what kind to get and a girl at my Sunday School told me about how great GreatCall Splash was so I decided to get it. I feel more confident with it. I have it on my dresser right by my bed if I needed to get it and I put it my pocket on my shorts when I go outside. I also wear it around my neck. It's a little bit bigger than I thought it would be but I'm getting used to it. It has been fine so far and I've already recommended it to somebody else in my Sunday school class. Bought for my 87 year old mother-in-law from Amazon. Item arrived and was just too large to be functional for her - she could not comfortably wear around her neck, and did not want to clip it on to her clothing. Amazon customer service was GREAT. Amazon arranged to send item back to them, even sending her a return address label since she has no computer to print one herself. I then called GreatCall to cancel her service since I had a 30 day window, and this was just day 2. I was informed by them that there would be a $10 restocking fee for the returned device, even though I did not purchase the item from them. I wonder what their customer service would be like if I really needed something?
Jack Safier, we are sorry that the Splash device did not work for your mother-in law. GreatCall’s 30 day return policy is within 30 days and is less the $10 restocking fee as once the device is assigned a line of service it cannot be resold as a new item. Amazon will be returning the Splash to GreatCall.-GreatCall Operations.

It gives me confidence. It's cheaper, it goes everywhere I go and it says where I am. It's only 15 bucks plus tax. I wear it around the house and I've been very satisfied with it. The police had told me that if I fall here in the house and they don't have the key that they can get to, the only way they can get it in is to break in but if I'm not in horrible pain, I can tell the cops who would call to call the two local people who has the key to the house.
What I'm concerned about is if I visit my wife's grave site and I were to slip and fall there, there's no way I could get myself up. It's not so bad if something happens and I'm in the house. My friends were happier than I was and it went a distance when I tested it - it wasn't true that I couldn't get a hold of somebody if I was five miles from home. It made me feel more relaxed that if I fell and I was by myself, I could have help immediately. Their team has been very good. They were friendly and knowledgeable. A couple of weeks ago, when I get home I take it off my neck and I throw it on my chair, and then I go take my clothes off or whatever I have to. I forgot about them one night and all of a sudden, I hear this little voice saying, "Ruth? Ruth? Are you there? Are you alright?" I activated it by sitting on it. I said, "No, I'm fine. Thank you."

Being 75 years old and living alone is the main reason I got GreatCall Splash, and now I'm less concerned especially about taking a shower and falling. I also do yard mowing in a lot of areas where I would not be seen from people passing on the road, and with the device, I feel I have extra protection with me. the GreatCall team is very friendly and knowledgeable the times I've called them.
The size of the device is the only thing I would be critical on. It is larger than I expected it to be and I thought there was no way I could wear it on the wristband. However, I had a chain so I could put it on and drop it down in a nice pocket in my bra. That way, it takes the weight off of the chain and the imprint doesn't show through my tops. I would prefer it was something a bit smaller, but I've gotten used to it and now wear it faithfully. Then once in church, it started that little chime of when it's either low battery or no signal, and I had not been turning it on and off. I pushed the button to turn it off, but it announced loudly, “We're turning you off". Now, before going into church, I go ahead and turn it off.
It's very satisfying to have it and I've talked to other people into getting it. I was talking with a rep recently and I told him that I had referred two people who had purchased it. He said he'll make sure the company submitted my name to get the rebate. This has happened within the past week and both parties have called and said they acknowledged that this was still within the timeframe and also within the period of time I would be seeing the credit. Then the people I referred also get a credit for accepting the referral.
The rep also mentioned something regarding adding the fall detection to the device and I asked him to send me information on that, but I haven't received it yet. I also asked him if the alarm would set off when I ride a lawn mower and the device gets shaken and juggled around and he said no. There's constant vibration where the fall detection is more of one bonk on the ground, but I may consider that as even if I don't consider myself a fall risk, I'll never know.

I'm getting older and my kids worry about me since I live alone, although I have a wonderful neighborhood. I had another medical alert device several years ago but I kept setting it off because I forgot to shut it off when I went out. I had to be able to get close to the receiver and yell at it so I had done away with it. My children were happy when I said I got the GreatCall and they can quit worrying about me now. Luckily, I haven't had to use it yet but I know it works because a couple of times I have shoved the device in my purse without paying attention, it came on. I've recommended GreatCall to people and I know one of my friends has one too. The device is more handy than other device that people can't use when they go outside of their home.

All of my experiences interacting with their team have been great. The device is extremely convenient to use. I put it on, wear it all the time around my neck on a lanyard, and charge it once a day. I highly recommend it to other people. I have been responsible for three other people getting GreatCall Splash. In summary, it's been excellent with them.

I got GreatCall Splash strictly for prevention to be sure that I have something since I'm a widow and I live alone. I used another medical alert service before but Splash covers things other than medical and also covers away from home, which the other one didn’t thus, I switched. My friend who recommended it to me kept it in her bra, and it was always right there where you could get it out. However, someone said something about the radiation so we put it in our pocket and the purse went through the washer. I felt better and safer when I was carrying it with me all the time instead of having it in my purse or pocket. If I can carry it in my bra and it's fine. I really feel better knowing it's there and it's closer that I can get to it than having to rummage through my purse to find it. So I would really like to carry it there if I can but I have to find out about this radiation.
Also, I was told that they always know where we are by satellite. However, the person I talked to when I had a problem didn't know where I was. It wasn’t a medical problem though. My key would not turn in my ignition so I wound up having to get AAA, and the GreatCall rep had to get one close to where I was. Then the person asked me where I was and had me turn the steering wheel to the right and it turned on. The AAA person was able to solve my problem over the phone. Overall, Greatcall also solved my problem.

I’m 83 and my husband died recently so I’m alone. My son and daughter-in-law decided that I needed to have a medical alert device. I wear the GreatCall Splash religiously. I don't like the cord that came with it but I have it on a chain which I prefer. It takes up less room under my clothes and is not quite as obvious when I have it on. I feel more confident because I’m out periodically where nobody would see me when I walk. It is nice to know that if I fall, I have access to letting somebody know of that. It is comforting to have so I’m appreciative of it. I would recommend GreatCall.

I purchased the Lively watch for my mom about a year ago. I had difficulty setting it up, and when I tried to contact customer service, it took days for them to get back to me. Now, I need to suspend her service and not have her bank account drafted any more. I have tried through the website and through leaving many voice messages to make that happen and after over a week of trying, have heard nothing back. I am going to have to file a complaint and go through mounds of paperwork with the bank to get this changed on this end. I am SO frustrated!!! It is a good concept, but I would not trust my loved one with such a horrible company. They obviously don't care!

Before having a medical alert device, I thought I'm infallible. Then I fractured my pelvic last June and I was very blessed because that day my son and my grandson were upgrading my computer when I tripped on the edge of the room. So I told my son, “I think it's time for me to get one,” and he said, “I'm gonna go get one right now, mom. Before you get home, you'd have it." I did and it's been very, very rewarding because being a widow and being by myself, it's like a security blanket. It makes me feel safe and it's really good.
Since using GreatCall Splash, I have less worries and I feel more independent. I've got it where I won't wear it around my neck because that’s the only thing I have against it. It's like wearing a heavy necklace. I put it around my neck and every time I bend over, the thing’s dangling. And I'd say, “No,” then I would hate it and I don’t wanna hate it. Or I won't have a bracelet because I work in the yard and I'm watering so I had a keychain. I worked in the school system for 35 years in California and I used the keychain I used to use years ago with a small cellphone and I've worked it out where I can hook it to my belt loop and put it in my pocket. It'll scoot out a little bit but I push it back in when I'm sitting down and it worked. It's something GreatCall might wanna think about creating.
The way I've got it is fine but it took a little while to become convenient or comfortable to wear. It's like hanging keys to my pocket. It's not that heavy but I had to get used to it and once I did, I couldn't be without it. I got to routinely charge the battery every night right at my bedside, put it on in the morning, then take it off at night. The only thing now that I got to remember is when I travel, I have to disconnect the battery charger and bring it with me. The only experience I've had interacting with the GreatCall team is – my daughter-in-law’s mom has it. So it cracks – we'd giggle when her phone goes off, “Oh, Shirley’s out and about,” or her mom’s trying to get her and it will come through, “Answer your phone. Your mother is calling.” I like that.
And what I also like – I am gonna go to Texas to spend a couple weeks with my son down there and daughter-in-law. I can hook them up when I need them on it, and then I could take them off when I don’t need them when I'm back here in Idaho. So that is nice. That way they know where mom is. Things change when you become by yourself. I've been by myself 18 years now when my husband had kidney cancer. So I opted to come up here to be close with all my grandkids. Moreover, customer service was awesome. They helped me because I was trying to figure out, “Okay. How do I do this? How do I get Chuck and Irene on this thing?” They were good with my son too when he was trying to get everything started.
When I've been with my daughter-in-law and hers has gone off because of her mom, I haven't had to do that. I hear it come on but it’d go every month, “Welcome to GreatCall.” I gather they're connecting everything. But when I'm with her and it's working, it creates talk among even the secretaries and nurses in the doctor’s office when I took my daughter-in-law, and they're like, “Oh, it works that good?”, because they're facing the same challenges. Their parents are getting older. You see it advertised and when you hear other people having the experience, you'd go, “Wow. That really works. Did it?” Promotes them thinking, “Maybe I should get it for my mom or my uncle".
I'm very pleased with it. I've told a lot of people about it. If I break down, GreatCall’s gonna let my kids know, if my phone died because of the battery in it or whatever, “Mom needs your help.” That’s important especially when you're in a middle of the country like I am now, or in the city, even anywhere you go. I think it's a great invention.

At the time I took GreatCall, it was because I could use their device in the shower. That’s essential for me that I have it in the bathroom. Also when I fall, I have to have somebody pick me up. I have a scooter that I go out on. I wear the device in case something happened to me while I'm out and about. I feel much safer. If I didn’t have it, I would really be lost because I can't always reach the phone to dial 911. But I find the lanyard to be quite heavy in my clothes. I don’t like to wear it outside and I can't wear it on my arms but I like to wear it in.
I've had two different experiences with GreatCall. I've had to call three times because I fell. And the fire department came with the medics and picked me up. The last experience that I had was that I lost the device off of my lanyard. I called and the girl that answered was very helpful. She directed me how to find it and then told me that if it was along the road, they would keep beeping it so that I could go down the road and find it. Fortunately, it was in the house. That is terrific that they can buzz the thing so that I can find it.

My sons can know where I am if I'm at any place around the country, 'cause that gives that map of location. I found out it doesn't work out of the country but that's understandable. Also, my family will know if I had any trouble because they'll get alerted too if I would need to use it. I called GreatCall to confirm that it's working. I do a test every once in a while too. They did two surgeries but couldn't repair it, so I have to use a walker all the time. I haven't fallen in quite some time, but I have a tendency to fall and my husband, Ron, doesn't want me to be down in the basement by myself when he's not around, so I bought the GreatCall device.

Also, my husband passed away this year so I'm alone. I have followed John Walsh ever since his child died, and I know he would not be backing GreatCall if it wasn't good. I also talked with seniors who were over 80 that I knew because I knew what they had been through and they ended up with GreatCall. So that's all I needed to hear and ended up getting one for myself as well. Everybody in GreatCall could not have been more helpful in the beginning if I pushed it to make sure I knew what I was doing and how it was going to respond. It was fantastic and could not have been better. I'm so glad I chose GreatCall initially.
I put my device on the nightstand beside my bed at night so if my door rattled for any rhyme or reason, all I have to do is push the button and I feel very safe at home alone with that. I also carry it with me. My kids fuss at me all the time because I don't wear it around my neck because it's hot that way in the summer, but I do in the wintertime. I try to keep it with me at all times for my safety but I don't intend to fall and stumble over my own feet. I'm not house-bound, by any means, and a very useful 69-year-old who is on the go all the time.
I like to hide it in the wintertime beneath sweaters or stick it in my bra, that's how these other ladies who are very highfalutin 80-some-year-olds use it. I feel very comfortable with it there because if I was putting groceries in the car or at Walmart putting stuff in where there's a huge parking lot, if anything happened, all I'd have to do is touch my bra. Plus it's not hanging around my neck unlike in the summertime when I wear a lower cut top and it's very evident. However, I don't think I could live without it.
I'm a big sales pitch person for the company all this time. Every coupon I see in the newspaper or little flyer, I cut out because I know somebody's going to come around that needs it. Not only that, I have recommended it to numerous people that have gotten them and I've got a few more who are now in the process of ordering them.

So I inserted a little piece of plastic behind the belt clip, right on top where I put a key ring device, to secure it and so it doesn't come off very easily.
I have grandchildren in Arizona, and we go out there every once in a while. One time, I had forgotten to take along the charger base. I took the little tab off the side of the GreatCall device and found that it's an ordinary USB micro connector. I was able to charge it by plugging it into a USB outlet with a USB micro connector on the end, and it worked fine. That wasn't mentioned in the manuals or in any of the instructions, but it probably compromised the waterproof abilities. But I don't take it in the shower with me.
For all intents and purposes, everything is working fine. The GreatCall device seems to charge properly and stays charged. Anytime I pushed the button, it's only been to confirm that it's working properly, and I make it very clear that it's not an emergency. When I push the button, customer service answers within ten seconds or so, and that's good. I definitely recommend it to friends.

My husband and I have both used the GreatCall Splash. My husband has Parkinson's and falls, so he needs to have the device wherever he is and makes sure that it connects so that he can call for help. We've mostly used it at home but we have also used the device in parking lots and other fun places. I used it once too when my husband was in the nursing home and I realized I was scared being alone at home. Unfortunately, there are a few areas we got to where it doesn't get signal. But that's a cell phone issue, not GreatCall's. We have recommended this device to friends.
Their team has always been friendly and helpful. They always make sure that we feel safe before they move on and hang up the call. They tell us to push the button again if we need more help. At one point, his card that the device was being charged on got lost, their representative called us and kept it linked up until they were able to get hold of us instead of cutting it off. Hence, I've always felt comfortable with that. It gives my husband more independence knowing that he's got something that's just a push of a button away. I feel more free as well. I'm still working full-time and I feel much more comfortable with leaving him, knowing that the device is always on-hand. We normally make sure that he's safe before we leave, but things happen, and it's such a joy to be able to have the GreatCall Splash.

I'm old and occasionally alone. My children were concerned and thought that I need to have something in case of an emergency so I got GreatCall. However, I haven’t used it that much. I like the fact that it wasn’t tied to a phone in the house, that it had GPS and I could take it with me any place I went. Unlike the one I tried previously wherein it was tied to my home phone, if I was someplace else and I went down, it would do me no good. GreatCall is heavier than I thought and I am irritated by things hanging around my neck. I just stick it in my pocket and figure if I'm gonna be some place and fall, I'll hit the button.
I haven’t fallen though but I like the fact that when I push that button for a fire, burglar or medical emergency, with the GPS, they'll find me. I have not checked in areas that might be inaccessible. When my children have traveled around the country, sometimes they call me and they can't get a signal so I don’t know if that is a problem with GreatCall. I think I would use it more if I didn’t have this much family around me. I liked that GreatCall followed up and wanted to make sure everything was all right. I was pleased with that.

I have heart, back and lung issues and I frequently fall, so I got a GreatCall Splash device. Their staff are very friendly and I've had pretty good interactions with them. We have used the device a few times and having it gives me peace of mind. I just wish I could wear it around my neck, but I cannot because I have a pacemaker, so I just keep the device in my pocket. When I travel, I know it's there if I need something, and I know that when I push that button, someone's going to be on the other end.
I've actually promoted GreatCall a few times. My mother has one and I've also persuaded the lady I go to church with to get one and I promoted it to my neighbor and she got one. I'm trying to promote it again to a buddy of mine. I love the device and I wouldn't leave home without it. I will brag about it all day. If you have a medical alert device, and you're not with GreatCall, then you're dealing with the wrong company.

One time when I was putting away things from my dishwasher, the knife had fallen and I have difficulty getting down - I have neuropathy in my hands, feet and legs. I also live alone and am going to be 95 this week-- I used my walker but I didn't have the brakes on. I went from one end of my kitchen to the other, then the walker went over on top of me and I ended up in my emergency room. That's what made my friend decide that I needed GreatCall, and it really has come in handy - I've been stubborn thinking that I can take care of myself.
Since then, I've had a couple more accidents that had happened to me. I was walking over to my den with my walker but I turned too fast going around a corner, so I lost my balance and fell on my back. GreatCall came and picked me up, but I didn't have any injury. The last time I had an accident, I took something out of the refrigerator and it got sprinkled on my white floor. I grabbed my little carpet sweeper and when I was sweeping that thing, I lost my balance and broke my wrist. But the GreatCall device serves the purpose. I thought I could yell out loud when in an emergency but I can't, so it's worth having.
One problem I have is that it gets caught in the drawer when I'm working and all of the sudden, it falls between the handle and the sink or the cupboards. The other day I got the device caught in the drawer but fortunately the manager in our building is smart and put the alert device together. I was glad to get GreatCall and am satisfied with it.

I haven’t broken anything, but in the retirement home where I live now, they won't do that so that’s one of the reasons I got GreatCall. They have a system here, but it only covers what's in the building and I felt if I went out to the store or some place, I needed something that would give me coverage if I were to fall on the street. I charge it every night when or before I go to bed because I wear it when I'm in bed at night. So that is once a day and it's fully charged. I see the light flashing on time and I wear it all the time. I have no reason to give it up.
The two times I've used my GreatCall Medical alert has been great and they’ve been very nice and helpful. They responded immediately and I couldn't ask for any better than that. The system was too involved for my wife so I returned it and purchased a pair of GreatCall units that employ GPS technology...so responders know right where we are. Bought one for my Dad and he got an area code from a place over an hour away from where he lives. And the customer service person acted like this was no big deal.
Rebecca, We're sorry to see that you are frustrated. GreatCall makes every attempt to obtain a local phone number for the service area indicated when the account is setup. As we have mentioned, it is important that the service address and home phone number being provided match as that is the information used to obtain a service number. We understand, however; that because of the increased number of cell phone subscribers and the required recycling period for a previously used cell phone number, that a number for the immediate service area may not be available. While this is rare, we understand that the possibility exists. We apologize for any inconvenience. -GreatCall Operations

I had just turned 70. I'm feeling great, thank God. I feel like I'm more in my 50s, but one could feel good and could plan things, but stuff sneaks up on people. It makes sense to add that additional level of security particularly if I'm with my grandson babysitting him (I pick up my grandson from preschool several days a week) or in the car, and if something happens I've got that immediate device. I told my daughter that's what I was thinking. She loved the idea.
So I made the decision, that this was the smart thing to do. There are ads for three different companies and one of them was GreatCall. I did my research on the three companies and they all provided the same service. I called each one and they were pretty upfront about the cost to start up. Some of them had no cost. With GreatCall Splash, that wasn't the case, but it wasn't an unreasonable start up cost. But what did it for me was the monthly fee. The other two agencies were $38 or $39 a month and GreatCall's was $23. That's not a 1 or 2 dollar difference. On a monthly basis if I'm going to have GreatCall for years, it made sense for the monthly fee. I'm also familiar with the company because for a couple of years we had gotten our cellphone from Jitterbug and our experience with the company was a positive one. I know it's a good, legitimate company.
I now use the device when I get up in the morning after I shave and shower. Although I know I can take it in the shower and I don't really want to, I put it around my neck because there's no guarantee that something won't happen to me in the house. The only thing that I would really like is if there's a testing program where I can do it anytime, but I hate pressing the button. When I first got the device I wanted to see how it worked, so I pressed the button and a guy came on and he could hear me very clearly, and I could hear him. I was pleased about that and I told him that I was okay and that I just wanted to see how it works. So he said no problem.
Then I did a second thing where I pressed the device and held it down for a second and immediately got 911. They came on very quickly. I hear them very easily and I said "You know I hate calling 911 if it's not a real deal", but some people do that and they waste the resources. So I apologized and told them that I was fine. "Don't worry about it. We're glad you tested it." So I feel good. I know how it works.
But I would like the ability to make sure it's working. I assume everyday that it's working, but I wish there's some way to test it where I don't have to press the button because it feels funny when they get on and there's nothing wrong with me. If there's some way, like calling ahead and say "Look I'm going to be testing this, so when you respond, don't worry I'm okay, but I know you're going to respond." If there was some way of building it in as part of a formal process of testing it where you do the whole thing and they know it's a test and nobody responds like "Oh my god, we got to get the police there." I'd prefer that as I won't feel like I'm wasting people's resources.
So to summarize, GreatCall Splash is a good company. The real proof of the pudding is if I ever really need it in an emergency. So far I've been satisfied with them. The price is reasonable and I tested it and everything worked.

But as far as the main part, it works great.
One time, I had to take my neighbor to the doctor. We got her partway into the car and she passed out. We were trying to hold her up because we didn’t want her to fall in the snow. I told somebody to get a chair, but we had a hard time getting her on it. They have no telephones, and I thought of my Splash. So I pushed it and had somebody on the line immediately. She was great and stayed on the line with me all the time and kept telling me to check her breathing, color, and do stuff. She called the rescue squad and asked if there was anybody else that I needed her to call. I was speaking to this doctor in another town so I mentioned that and she wanted to know what doctor and what town. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Then a gentleman said, “You should have called” and the reps can put the information in. So, that's what I tell everybody to do and I haven’t heard back from anybody who says that it’s been a problem.
One thing that GreatCall should do is emphasize the GPS part of their device on their advertising. There are other medical alert devices but you have to be in the house to use it and that is useless unless you're housebound. The good part about the GreatCall device is that it can be right here in my pocket and I could be anywhere.
