I wanted to use Uber so I decided to get a Jitterbug phone. It has big numbers, it's easy to use and I'm learning to send and receive emails. Sending texts is great and I want to learn that more. I can see why the kids like it. I also like the camera. There are other things I want to use it for but I don't know how to do that. I have signed up for a course at the senior citizen's center so, when they schedule another course, I'm going to go take it. AARP sets a course every so often and they're teaching to use the Jitterbug. I'm really excited about my phone and I've recommended it. I've got a friend who's thinking about getting one, too. So, whenever we get time and get together, she's going to go get one. It's a great phone and any older person that has never had one would love it.

I'm old and I don't understand a lot of things. I wanted a simple phone for emergencies and so I got a Jitterbug at Best Buy. That place was very helpful. Since getting the Jitterbug, I've had it on me all the time.

I had another phone which went bad on me. It was from another carrier. The Jitterbug Touch is the only phone GreatCall uses and it's a great improvement compared to my previous phone. It does everything I need it to do. Maybe it is not as fancy as some, but it works in every way. It’s a very good beginning phone.

I'm very illiterate about all of this stuff and I wanted one that I figured was easier to use. I've had three cell phones prior to having Jitterbug and the one I had before seemed a little bit easier. I’m very ignorant about the Jitterbug but I’m finally learning to do some of the features. I’m starting to take pictures now and know how to change the pictures and make them bigger. Finally, I have never texted before because when I wanted to know something I wanted to talk to somebody. But I finally learned how to text. However, I don't use the Jitterbug a lot so I’ve lost the ability to use it again. Very few people have my number, probably not over half a dozen. We’ve got a landline, but we don’t have the long distance on it at all so the main thing I like is that I just use my phone.
There were a few things I wanted to know like how to do certain things. I finally had their customer service figure it out and tell me what the problems were. The thing that really bothers me about the Jitterbug is that I’m paying $42 for 200 minutes. It’s enough, but I think I could get a cheaper price on it. I’ve never run over 200 minutes anyway. It would be nice if the 200 minutes was just coming from my side instead of both directions. Another thing is that I use my landline when I call local. Why am I sitting there using up minutes when I'm waiting? I’m old enough now, I’m 82, that I keep calling the doctor’s office reasonably often so whenever there’s somebody, I don’t use my cell phone because I know that I’m going to have to wait.

I’ve been seeing Jitterbug Touch advertised in magazines and I like its emergency factor. I was using a another carrier's flip phone before and I was looking for a phone that’s bigger. Although I don’t use a lot of the features, I needed the phone and the text messaging feature. So last year at Christmas time, I had some extra money and bought a Jitterbug Touch cell phone for myself. It is affordable for me as long as I stay under my limit. I like the Jitterbug Touch phone a lot. It has a big screen and large numbers and letters. I also like the emergency button. I accidentally push that occasionally and then realize it before Jitterbug Touch reps catch it, so I always try to set it down.
The only problem I'm having right now is when I get a message on voicemail, I'm not getting enough volume to hear the message. I checked my big button and it’s always right on with the full volume. I usually hit the speaker button because I do have some hearing loss. I'll play it once and then I'll check it because sometimes when I stick the phone in my pocket, I accidentally hit the button. But then I go back and turn the speaker up in that area and then I still have trouble hearing it. But I have recommended Jitterbug Touch to several people. I have sent my coupon to my friend in Arizona, however, she’s on a restricted budget too and she’s on a plan with her kid, so she couldn’t afford it right now.

My husband bought a smartphone but he doesn’t quite know how to use it. It's the same case with other old people. I'm not so good at that sort of thing either. A telephone is a telephone as far as old people are concerned. I am an old woman and I wanted a simple phone. I bought Jitterbug because I had read all the things about it and it seems like an appropriate one for me and it's simple to use. Somebody said something about a phone to me once and I said I have an old people’s phone. He said, “Oh, like my grandma has.” So that's good for old people. Jitterbug is designed for those who are not a telephone person like myself, but telephone people would love this just as much.
My daughter set the phone up for me and it sits on my purse. And although I never use it, I love my Jitterbug and that’s all I'm going to have. Also, if I wanted to take photographs I could. But I should use it more often because the telephone in my bedroom doesn’t work anymore for some reason. I should carry it around and put it there too in my bedroom just in case. Also, I wish it was hooked up to our ordinary telephone. When people call I could be on the toilet and by the time I get to the telephone that's in my husband's study, they’ve gone to the answering machine.

The thing I like about the Jitterbug Touch is if I need to call my wife, I can hit one button and the next button I hit is for the phone ringing. I had a flip phone which I didn’t use and there was another one where you need to hit a different button to get to what you need, which is a bit time consuming because I don’t use it a lot compared to my grandchildren or even my wife. They can go right through it and I forget so it takes me a little while to get things going but the Jitterbug Touch is simple to operate. This is what I was looking for. Something simple without having to use it three, four, five times a day to familiarize yourself with your phone. I got mine and use it once or twice a day. I’m 83 years old and memory's a little lousy but this thing here makes it simple to get what I want.
I have it next to me now and everything seems to be what expected from it. Everything’s simple and that’s the thing I like about it. If I wanna have an email, I hit the email on there. I don’t have to go through two to three different steps to reach to an email. I use the voice command almost 98% of the time and I don’t type too much. Sometimes my emails come out a little funny, so before I send it, I gotta check it again because it didn’t pick up the right thing that I wanted on but outside of that, that’s fine. Also, the emergency thing was really good and so far, I haven’t needed to use it. I find it very convenient to use and I’m very satisfied with it.

My experience with Jitterbug was so far very satisfactory. It's easy to use and the price was right. It has Wi-Fi, Facebook and email on it so, that’s convenient, unlike my previous phone which didn't have Wi-Fi, GPS and email. Also, whenever I've called, Jitterbug's customer service people have been really helpful. I’d recommend Jitterbug.

I hardly ever use my Jitterbug Touch because it’s too complicated for me. I wanted to learn how to text but I’m having a lot of trouble using it. I had a stroke so I’m having a lot of trouble with stuff. I use my old AT&T flip phone all the time now but I'm hoping that I’ll learn how to use my Jitterbug Touch someday. Hopefully, my son and his kids will come from New Jersey and teach me a little bit on how to use it. Otherwise, I’ll give it away to one of them.

I wanted a smartphone and I thought Jitterbug Touch might had the best one because I’ve seen their advertisements. The other phone I had was a T-Mobile and it was a regular phone for calling out and calling in. I was a bit frustrated with the phone I got from Jitterbug to begin with. There’s a lot of things I still don’t know, but I’m learning and I’m enjoying it. I mostly have it for the purpose of having a phone that I need and something that I can get to if I need it.

Their customer service representatives have always been very nice and helpful. But I’m dissatisfied and it’s mostly my fault because it’s not what I want. It’s for somebody that wants more out of it than I do. The only thing I wanted it for was to have it in the car with me. I thought if I really liked it but I don’t. It hasn’t been successful for me. I wanted to do a simple thing, ring and let me answer it and make a phone call.
One time, I waited on to a phone call and there wouldn’t be any way I could answer it. It didn’t get the regular answering system on there. There wasn’t anything and somehow it’s just blank. And then I called them and they corrected that. Also, when talking on the phone, all these messages come in or advertising. I just don’t think it’s a good phone. I’m not interested in all the extras that come with it. I’m 88 years old and use a phone basically to talk to people and that’s it.

We were using Verizon and had two phones but we lived in the country and they couldn't cover us, yet we still had the phones because we travelled. The cost was not helpful to us because we were older and didn't use it a lot. When I saw the ad of Jitterbug Smart, the main thing for me was the cost and simplicity of it so I went with them. I have gotten two at the beginning, but my husband isn't well and I cut it down to one. It has the same coverage as Verizon so I'm very happy with it. I haven't compared it to anything but Verizon. I use it a lot. I reach out to them for a couple of reasons but mainly it was for additional help such as getting a number and an address if I need to find a store or alphabetize my caller list.
I've had wonderful results from contacting customer service or if I call the operator. I've been with GreatCall for so long and we used their 5Star when we weren't in an institution and not yet on assisted living. I was caring for my husband many years and I wanted to make sure I could get help so we used 5Star until we moved. I'm very happy with GreatCall and very pleased with what they have going. I love them.

My mother would take off and I don't know how to get a hold of her and she’d walk in the town. So, I thought it’d be good to get her a phone. I purchased the Jitterbug Touch phone for her and I thought it would help us but she gets a little confused about how to use it. Sometimes, she gets a little confused about where she went or where she was at, at one point. She has good and bad days and she’s doing much better now but I’ve been thinking of canceling it because she does not use it at all. She takes off walking not carrying a purse or have the phone with her.
But we’re going to go on a trip and I’m going to try and use it. We’re going in September so I’m going to hang onto it and work on her with the phone for a bit in case we get lost in the boat or she takes off somewhere. I’ll get her to use it because I really want her to have it around her in case. It’s a great service and it’s a wonderful phone. The problem is getting my mom to get more familiar with it and wanting to take it with her and if she does have it, I always say to leave it on. Also, the volume’s so low and I put the ringer all the way up to the top. They need to work on the volume for people of her age. But I’ve had a lot of people say a lot of really great things and it's a great device.

Since I’m a senior citizen, I thought it would be easier but my experience with Jitterbug has not been good. It’s a lot more complicated because this is my first smartphone and the others were just flip phones which are very simple to operate. Also, it is so sensitive. You barely touch it and it does something else other than what you wanted it to do. But I was ready for a smartphone. I love sitting at my kitchen table and making long-distance phone calls with no problem rather than having to go upstairs and get service. That’s the nicest part and we were in Colorado Springs, so that part is an advantage.

I’m 70 years old and I had a flip phone. I was trying to text my grandkids on it and they kept telling me that I needed another phone. So, my son told me I could try the Jitterbug Touch because it seems really simple. I got a Jitterbug Touch and it’s much better. It's much easier to text with it because with the little flip phone I had, I had to go to the ABC to text something and it took forever. I'm also taking more pictures now. However, sometimes when I put the Jitterbug phone in and out of my purse, I push things that I don’t want to push like Urgent Care. I’ve done it twice and I didn’t mean to because of the little red dot. Also, recently my pictures from my text weren’t going through. I wasn’t receiving and I couldn’t send them. I was intending to download an app regarding my hearing aid which will allow me to control my hearing aid with the phone. I purchased Jitterbug for an emergency in the car and I haven't had any emergencies. I got in touch with their customer service team when they first set it up and we got it to work. I finally gave up and cancelled it and put my parents on my account. I spent over 6 hours on the phone trying to get it set up before I just told them to cancel the whole mess. P.S. Don't take the SIM card out and put it back in, because the phone doesn't work then... And it voids your warranty. I have taken SIM cards in and out of every phone I owned and never heard of that one before!!!!

The previous cell phone I had was a knock off that I didn't want to spend much for it, and it's very complicated. Then, my daughter said to get Jitterbug with the internet. She thought that for something I'm not that interested in, it wouldn't have been so bad. I did it because I thought I might learn how to use it but I feel like I bought a little bit more than I needed it. I would like to have the Jitterbug without the system because I don't need the stuff and I feel like I'm being charge way too much for the amount that I use per month.
I've never had the fancy iPhones and I'm not that savvy with computer stuff. I'm 81 years old and I'm quite clear in my head and physically fit. I also don't use a telephone that much. I slightly resist the fact that I need to carry it with me everywhere I go. I never carried the landline with me and survived quite well in the world. It's a nuisance and I would like to pay $7, have them put a landline back in my house and throw this telecom thing away. But I felt like that Jitterbug was a safer phone. If they were that careful with everything else they did, it would probably be safer. I love the fact that it's large and that it's got everything I'm supposed to need. I had a little flip phone for years then thought it was time to get up to the latest technology instead of just the regular house phone. The flip phone is so simple that I can pick it up and turn it on and dial the number and I'm off and running. With the Jitterbug Touch, my wife and I both get confused on what to do and how to do things. We’re up some years and when we're trying to do texting since one of our children texts us and we try to text them back, it's after four or five tries before we finally succeed to do it. So many different screens pop up on us and we both wonder how we got on there and sometimes we don't know what they are. I'd be better off if I could trade this thing in for a simple phone to dial and I'm not even much into this sort of thing. It takes pictures but sometimes we don't know how to save those pictures. Nonetheless, all we need a phone for is to talk to people.
It's been a good experience with Jitterbug Touch but it's also been a challenge. When I first got the phone, I called Jitterbug and they were always very helpful. We wrote a lot of notes down and they told us what steps to take on. Sometimes I go to the manual that came with the phone and sometimes it doesn't give us the answers we're looking for. They need to make these things simple when it comes to older people because we didn't grow up on this technology.

Jitterbug Touch works good. I went with it because it sounded a hell of a lot better than anything else that I had and by far it turned out to be the best. I bought it so that if I get in trouble around town and I need a flat tire change or something like that, I got a phone with me. And if I'm traveling, then I've got a phone to call whoever I'm gonna go see. I can press the button and the numbers come up and I can dial the number. But with the other phone, it took me 15 minutes to figure it out. So I've recommended Jitterbug to several people. Overall, it was a very good experience.

A lot of times my daughter doesn’t answer the phone so I got a Jitterbug to be able to text her. I decided to get a Jitterbug because of its simplicity. Although compared to the TracFone that I had from Verizon before, the Jitterbug does not get the reception that I did with Verizon. I lose reception down in my basement, which is pretty common around here. But otherwise, it compares good with everything. Customer service was always professional and courteous. When I contacted them before because I couldn’t figure out why I was using data, the lady on the phone explained and taught me how to shut it off. I like my Jitterbug. In fact, my wife is thinking about getting a flip phone, so I have to get back online to know what they cost.

I had to call for tech support one time and after we went through hours and hours of dealing with me and not knowing quite what I was doing and thinking everything I did was wrong, Comcast came through and completely redid my wiring in the house, and I have not a problem since. But it was impossible to use and I could hardly ever even figure out to answer or make a phone call. So, I said, "Okay. I'm going to try this Jitterbug." I just went and got one. Their customer service team was very helpful when I was first setting Jitterbug up. I’ve been happy with it. I make one call a month and I just have it on hand for emergencies. I would say the biggest change has been just the texting and I've gotten used to it which has been a very positive thing. I learned how to text which I never did before when I used a prepaid phone called TracFone. I still have it though because sometimes it will pick up signal better than the other depending on where I am. I can text anywhere with Jitterbug but I'm having issues with their reception. I have no problem with the Jitterbug Touch except the instruction book is only good for somebody that had these phones. This all new to me. A lot of things does not work and a lot of stuff on this phone I have no idea about. A better instruction manual for the basics for a guy like me who owns it for the first time would be good. There is a lot of stuff on the face of the phone that is not even in the book. An example is when I turn the phone on, it comes up with a lock device. I can't get off with that lock device because there are about four pictures across the bottom of the phone and I have absolutely no idea why they're there. There are no pictures in the book explaining why they're there and it’s just crazy. Sometimes I touch it and nothing happens. So, I touch something else and something else comes on. I made up my mind to get one but instead of the flip open phone, I decided I wanted the larger version and it's a touchscreen. It's like having a computer and everything I'd like to know right in my hands as opposed to having a telephone, and that’s really what drew me to it. I want to get a little more familiar with this new piece of technology because I am really a dinosaur. I have a very limited vision and I have magnifiers that I use for reading the "how to's" and it's a little more time-consuming than it might normally be. But he had passed away now and because my children live in another city, they wanted something for me to be able to get help in case something happened. My daughter then gave me Jitterbug for Christmas.
The reps at Jitterbug have been wonderful. My package doesn't have a lot of data available. And it was for $45 so I thought it was huge. I mainly use Jitterbug for telephone and text. But when one of my daughters sent a bunch of pictures, I got a notice saying that I was fixing to go over. I said, "Oh, my goodness. This is gonna be a problem." So I called Jitterbug and asked how I could turn that off and the girl assisted me. I had to get a nephew here to help me hookup the Jitterbug through my WiFi when I'm at home and that helped out.
In some ways, this one is easier for me compared to the TracFone. However, I have to keep it charged sometimes in the morning and evening. Other than that, everything's been great. I thought I was going to be able to do better, but my experience with Jitterbug hasn’t been good. I’ll be 75 next month and I’m electronically challenged, so it’s so hard for me to learn this. I’ve had it for soon to be a year, and basically, all I can do is call out and call in. I’ve been trying to learn to text and that’s the reason I wanted a phone that has a keyboard that I could pull up. And I let the phone go all the way down, and when it has zero charge, it was acting crazy. After I got it recharged, it said reboot. I said, “Hey, reboot the phone.” But it gave an explanation of something done with the volume control that rebooted it. So it’s harder than any phone I’ve ever had to learn how to use.
I initially got Jitterbug so that I can learn how to text because my grandchildren are getting older. My son’s in the legislature and if I need to speak to him, they can’t make or take calls unless they got out of the big room. His wife texts him when they need to talk to him, but we can only call during lunch breaks. Now, my oldest grandson is on his first year at Chapel Hill, so I was trying to learn to text until he left for college. And my youngest grandson is 15, so I got three years to learn to text before he leaves.
I’m a retired nurse, so it looks like I could learn this. I could operate the computer when I was working but it was hard. But at most, I would wind up to one and the phone would go crazy. I told everybody I have negative ions in my body that does not want electronics. In fact, when I finally got my computer at home, it got hit by lightning twice and the people at work says, “I don’t think you need to get another one.” So I've had some bad experience with technology. And my grandchildren have been too busy to help me learn.
But I have a real good friend who’s had an iPhone for a long time and she’s been trying to help me on Saturdays. We go get our hair done and go to lunch. We spent one afternoon in Wendy’s and she had me make calls to her and text her and she would text me back. We were there about four hours. So she’s worked with me several Saturdays. But I just don’t enjoy the telephone. I’d never have since I worked in a janitor’s office and I had to be on the phone so much. But I'm going to keep working on it. It’s a hurdle that I have to get over so it‘s still challenging and I have to push myself.
A lot of times my daughter-in-law will try to call me, but I never hear it since I keep the phone on the counter in the kitchen and not in my pocket. I only have it in my pocket when I'm out. Also for some reason, I have trouble getting emails. I got some emails in the beginning but I think everybody has learned that I’m having problems and it’s not worth their trouble to deal with me. They just call my home number or either come over here if they have to talk to me. So I might as well hang it up.

One of the sweet things is that I was always forgetting to get my meds all in before bedtime and the last thing I take has to be an hour after all my other pills. And when I forget, sometimes, I'd be ready to go to bed and realize, "Oh, my gosh. I forgot that other pill." So, my daughter put a little reminder there. And so, every evening, at 9:00, it rings me. The Jitterbug phone is so advanced that I really don't like it. It's smarter than I am and I cannot figure out how to use all of it or any of it. I was actually thinking about taking it back and getting another one that's not as evolved. But I'm sure that the things I can't figure out are in the phone and that it's me, not them. I would recommend Jitterbug if you were intelligent enough to use it. It is a good phone and it's interesting, but I need more time or I haven't yet decided what I am going to do to figure it all out before I give up completely with it.

I had seen Jitterbug Touch in AARP Magazine and it looked simple because it had all the apps on the face. I'm up in age a little bit and that appealed to me because the only phone I ever had just made and took calls, and so I wasn’t up on all the apps and how to work them. A friend of mine convinced me to get a phone that I could text on and we could text back and forth and it did that so I ordered it. I had ordered a couple of phones and sent them back because they were just too over my head, but this one was simple enough with a little assistance from some of my friends. I haven't mastered it but I've been able to use it. I do text now, but not a whole lot. And I've added more people to my itinerary now. It's been easy and handy with Jitterbug Touch.

Since I got my Jitterbug, it's easier to read. I can make a telephone call if I get to the app that tells me where the telephone is. I love my Jitterbug Touch, but it seems that I can't use it like I would like to. I can't get the hang of using it and can't use it well. I was wondering if there was some place close I could go to learn to use it, or if I knew someone else who had one like it who could teach me how to use it. But I'm satisfied with it. And if I learned how to use it, I'd be really fine with it.

I got a Jitterbug Touch from Best Buy, and the only reason I bought that phone was because one day, somebody went through our neighborhood with a gravel truck with the box up and he knocked out all the wires, taking down five telephone poles and electric. I went to them and they said it's going to be a long time before it was going to be restored, so I went and bought the Jitterbug. By the time we got home, they already had the line hooked back up again, so I just take the the phone and use it for emergency. However, there's oil inside the screen about the size of a silver dollar. I should've taken it back right away but I just left it alone.

I can't use my Jitterbug too well. I have my pictures and I can make a call. However, I don't answer a call too good, but I'm getting used to it. Also, we never hooked up the OnStar. We were in a hurry and whoever my son was talking to said that we can always call back another time. It says I have brain games on there, but they’re also not hooked up. So, there were things that were needed to be checked over by somebody who understands it. For an old lady that isn’t computer-smart, I thought Jitterbug would be so simple. But I wasn’t getting it right away. Also, the phone is very heavy and big. And a lot of people have said the same thing with them. The Jitterbug Touch advertising is incorrect because they showed the phone for $19.95 a month, but the first bill I got was for $51 and some cents even though I hadn't used the phone. I had to call them back about it and then they said that they'll take off minutes. But when I called my daughter-in-law, she said that what she have right now is not very much by way of minutes. So, I'm paying $30.38 for a phone I haven't used which is crazy. So to me, it's fraud. And then I saw some ads later on that was less than the $19.95 per month for Jitterbug.
I also asked them if it was necessary that I have AT&T or one of these others to use the internet on it and they said no. However, when I was trying to activate it, I was supposed to choose one of five internet services. I spent over $200 buying the phone and I haven't been really happy with the way it came and how they did things with the billing before it was even activated. Also the customer service reps' people skills could be improved. In fact, I blew my stack at one point and I told them that I can run an office and if I had anybody acting like them, I'd fire them. I also got lied to, and so I finally said that if I can't get an answer, I'm gonna have to call the insurance department here in the city that deals with crime and fraud. Well, then, they got somebody to answer my questions. But I shouldn't have to get to that point. I am not happy. And so I've been thinking of canceling my Jitterbug contract. I should have gone out and taken the time to shop around.

She thought I must be crazy and she didn't understand that I live in the middle of the ranch way out from everything so I wasn't getting a cell phone signal. Finally, I just gave up and told her to forget it.
Also, I am very frustrated that it takes a while to turn on and if I quit using it and leave it on, I still have to hit the 1, 2, 3 buttons and it still takes quite a while. That’s a feature that I’d have to figure out. I’ve also had some icons that I couldn’t get off of my screen and I had to get somebody to help me get them off of there. For us poor seniors Jitterbug needs to give us an icon dictionary. The only other thing is that I went to send a picture and I got charged extra for sending it. Also, they have a $22 monthly bill. Last month we were in Florida and we used our cell phone more than we normally do. We kept in touch with the kids back home and now I think our bill is bigger this month. If they say that I went over my minutes, I'll say "don't charge me" because most of the months, I don't even come close to using them. Also, my grandson and daughter were teaching me how to text. Then I found out that it was $0.10 a text. A dime isn't much but it adds up and I'm not going to pay that. Whenever I don't use the phone, I feel like I'm paying for something I don't really need. My wife feels that what we are paying is a little high for what we're getting, but still, I am thinking about getting another Jitterbug phone and give my wife mine because all I use is Jitterbug voice for telephone calls, and she uses it on everything.

The first Jitterbug I had was an open faced phone and not a smart phone. But I liked its big letters and the volume was clearer than the flip. When I saw the Jitterbug Smart on TV, I decided to get it and I love it. It’s got the big screen and letters. I also like the medical alert feature. I’m a single man and I live by myself and if something happens, all I have to do is push that button. Also, I talked to the reps a couple of times and they were nice and they answered everything I wanted to know. I recommend Jitterbug.

I have a landline, but my sister was pointing out that it would be good to have a cellphone as well to take in the car or if the other phone doesn't work, I would have a backup telephone so we got a Jitterbug but I don't really use it too much. I haven't quite advanced into the new age and I'm somehow more comfortable talking on my landline. But I feel a little more confident since having Jitterbug. I've had situations where I had to use Jitterbug because the other phone wasn't functioning so it has come in handy about three times.
One thing I find that's disconcerting is the volume along the side of the phone. I've had it happen at first where I was inadvertently pressing the volume because I was touching that button, not realizing that it's the way I held the phone. I figured that out now, but it seems like it doesn't really get very loud. Overall it was a satisfactory experience with Jitterbug and I'm glad I have a backup.

I live alone and I'm old so I needed some type of means of calling. But I could not get the other phone that the government gives anymore. I do have a phone service through cable and but if the cable was out, I wouldn't be able to contact anybody so I needed some type of cellphone. It's a convenience that I know I need so I chose to get a Jitterbug Touch, but I'm not happy I did. It's too much for me to try to figure out what to do. I'm not doing it right and it's not coming out right. But it was nice for my kids and grandchildren to be able to send me pictures and things of that type. But as far as using it myself, it's a bit complicated for me to remember all the stuff. The government phone was better because it was simple and easy for me to use. Jitterbug was the very first cell phone I ever had. But I don't have it anymore since the buttons were too small for my hands. When I had it, the cell phone made me comfortable going someplace. I got it because it didn't seem to be as complicated as other telephones. And if I would have car trouble or I had to call my husband for help or anything, then I would use it. Their staff always seem to be polite and nice. They always try to help with whatever problem we were having. The only reason I didn't like the Jitterbug was because the buttons were too small for my hand. Also, we paid for our minutes in advance which was fine but you couldn't carry over what you didn't use. If you don't use your minutes and you paid for them, you should be able to carry them over. But I like the Jitterbug. I think it was good for senior citizens except for the buttons.

I like my Jitterbug Touch a lot better than the phone that I had before, and although I've been having problems with it, I got one problem resolved a couple of months ago. When my Jitterbug rings, I'm supposed to put my finger on the green light on the screen that goes from left to right to answer the phone, but it wasn’t working. So, I called and I spoke with one of the Jitterbug representatives who ended up telling me that what they would do is to change it for me so all I'd have to do now is push the button on the front of the phone to answer it. So, that’s what I've been doing and it's working fine. Also, I've noticed that within the last four weeks, it seems the battery is not lasting as long, and I've gotten in the habit of putting it back on the charger around noontime for a couple of hours. It's not a problem, though. In fact, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jitterbug to anybody. I'd even recommend it to a stranger.

I've had my Jitterbug for a good six months. I use my smart phone, particularly the text messages, and it’s charged up each day, although I'm not a high user of the phone and I'm not glued to it every second of my life. I have a new granddaughter now, so I have photos and a photo album, and that’s really great stuff. It's pretty cool to have the smart phone because it replaces having to sit at your desktop PC. You've got your internet that you can work with at the palm of your hand, and there's a whole series of apps on that phone that you can deal with, and you can go to the app store and get all these other stuff.
However, it was overwhelming when I was first introduced to this product and my initial experience with it was extremely frustrating. In the beginning, I was very dissatisfied when I received the phone. I had sat down and studied the user guide, but I had to place calls to Technical Support since a lot of the frustration came about because of the user guide which was totally insufficient. There was not enough information in it to really maximize on all the things in the phone, which requires quite a bit of information. The literature was not up to speed and comprehensive enough, and they never sent me an updated user guide. They're selling a product that lacks a tutorial that can walk customers through without having to repeatedly call them.
When I first got the phone, I had to make two to three phone calls to have the Tech Support people walk me through things. It took me two weeks with numerous calls to them to try to understand things. Within a matter of a few weeks, I was almost on the point of just saying, "Look, I don't want this product. I'd like my money back." That's how bad it was. They expected the customers to know how to use all the features of the phone without any tutorial instruction. Customers call and speak with them, and get this product that comes to their home, and then they get stuck to the point of "Jeez, what am I gonna do? I'd really like to use this phone, but I don't know how." It's going to take customers one to two months to really understand what they're doing with this phone.
Getting acclimated to a whole new technology upgrade requires a tutorial, and they need to improve on that aspect to try to help the consumers understand all the features, functions, and applications. A tutorial that has a video, shows examples, and walks customers, especially seniors, through would be a great idea to look forward to when they purchase the Jitterbug smart phone so they can can get adjusted to the product. This would negate having to make so many phone calls to Reno where the Jitterbug comes from, or their other location in North Carolina.
The younger folks are usually more tech-savvy than the seniors. I even asked my own daughter who is very tech-savvy to help me with my phone, but she said, "Dad, I can't really help you with this. I don't understand this phone." So, what's my option? I had to call Reno and ask for technical support. This was what I was up against. They claim in their ads that this smart phone is so simple to use, but it’s not, so their ad is very misleading. I had to be willing as a retiree to make the commitment to learn how to use it. I really stuck with it because I'm the type of guy who is willing to hang in there and try it. The whole thing is a learning experience when you're dealing with this smart phone.
When I consulted with the Tech Support people, it was a simultaneous process. They were able to actually see the screen as I would see it, to help me understand whatever application I was doing. The phone’s got all these features, like the clear-all apps. You press on a certain button that's on your screen and then you have to touch it when it says “Clear” to clear all apps. That's like an exit procedure. You're allowed so many megabytes or gigabytes, but if you don't clear all apps or you're not exiting properly from the internet when you're using that, the phone is constantly on and you're actually paying for that.
The more you get to talk to the people at Jitterbug, you find out things in dribs and drabs. In the guide book, there is nothing written in terms of a procedural process telling the consumer how to go through those particular commands with your smart phone. I had to get that from the Technical Support people. I said, "How do you guys know that when the user guide doesn't even tell us that?" The answer that they’ve given was that the people who roll out the program took a two-month course to learn about the Jitterbug smart phone and how to use it. Seniors can get adjusted to the phone after numerous calls, help, and walks-through with the technical support service, but it's very frustrating.

When you turn it on, it gives you the options of all these different apps like you would see on an iPhone so you don’t have to guess what the app is. It tells you what it is. When you send a text message, the letters and numbers are bigger so you got more access without hitting the wrong key. When you go My Account it gives you your phone usage so you know how much of everything you’ve used. My husband has the less complex version of Jitterbug and he's very happy with it so I decided to try out the Jitterbug Touch. My experience has not been good with it. I use my older antiquated cellphone, which responds more quickly and continues to function well, in far greater preference to the Jitterbug. My problems with the Jitterbug included trying to get things entered and to have it stay in the phone memory. I had entered all the data that I needed including phone numbers, names and addresses, and it won't stay in the phone for me. The other interesting issue that we had with it right from the get-go was that the whole thing seems to be needing Wi-Fi connection, which I have. My husband and I knew what the password was for that but it took us forever to get that thing to work with us. So I was re-entering stuff all the time. Even the phone number of my sister whom I talk with once a day, would not appear in my phone the next time I call her.
So it has not been a good situation and it was frustrating, overall. I'm going to devote about three days and go through the handbook page by page, and see where the hang-up is. It could be me but maybe we have an instrument issue here too. We have two very tech savvy sons and daughter-in-laws, who have each looked at the phone, and they asked me why did I get it. So they were having issues too with it. Right now, the phone is not serving any purpose outside of being a paperweight on my desk.

I’ve got Jitterbug's minimum plan and it’s 200 minutes a month, but I don't use it a lot. 27 minutes was the most I’ve ever used.
My wife has an iPhone and I can use it. But my Jitterbug Touch is so sensitive. I bought a case that it slides in and I thought it would be good 'cause I won't have to grab it out of my pocket. However, even if I touch the chrome part on the very outside of it, it goes to a different screen and I'm constantly trying to get it back to the home screen. When I punch “call end”, people tell me that it will automatically redial them again. If I go to take it out of the case or go to get it out of my pocket, evidently, I touch the edge of the screen. It deletes the numbers just ‘cause I’m touching the edge of the screen. I couldn’t even find in the book what I would be doing to delete the numbers and half of the numbers are gone now. I’ve had my Jitterbug Touch about a year and it's been really discouraging, but I try to live with it.

I was looking for a smartphone for my dad that would be more user-friendly than the standard Androids. He's had flip phones and another smartphone, but he wanted something that has as few steps as possible to call someone or to look something up. The Jitterbug is much better than his previous smartphone as it's more intuitive and he's gotten a lot more use out of it. I'm acting as my dad's tech support too, and we haven't had any problems. Initially, he used it just to make phone calls. But then, he got more curious about Googling things and started using it more for that, Facebook, and his emails. My dad and I have been very happy with his Jitterbug.

I can charge it up to 100% and the next day, even if I haven't used it, it goes down. It should stay up if I’m not using it. I only need to use it once in a while but it shouldn't go down that fast in another day. I'm dissatisfied with it. Other than that, the phone is all right but I have to keep it on the charger. My wife had an open heart surgery and she only had 25 percent of her heart left and pacemaker. She couldn't drive so I made her get a Jitterbug Touch cellphone. However she had it turned off when they left the house. I didn't care when she's around the house because we got a landline. Then, she passed away and 10 years after, I kept seeing the advertisement for these phones about a big discount that ended on the 26th of December. I just called the store on the 26th and ordered it that way and got it through the mail. Then, they set it up. Before it, I had to write a check and send it in. Now, I just give them a credit number and then they automatically deduct it every month. I am satisfied with the Jitterbug Touch experience
My kids try to make it a point to keep it charged up. My son in 2008 was diagnosed with lung cancer. Now when I leave the house I keep it in my pocket so that if something happens, they can get a hold of me. My kids can text the message to me or even send a voicemail. But for me I use it just as a regular phone. I have trouble hearing, so I don't answer. But then, this has caller ID unlike my old phone. It will show the number so I know who it is. Also, I can call them back when I get to an area where I can hear on it. I've told a few friends and the older people about it. I don't know if any of them went and got one.

We were under contract with another service when Verizon had bought it out. Then we just rode out that contract but Verizon hadn't been good for us, so we went to GreatCall. They worked really hard with what we needed and sent me the Jitterbug Touch. We're still learning to use the Jitterbug, but we really like it because we can just hit the text button and say, "Send the text to so and so" and it will. We can send pictures when we want to and also put different ringtones on it for different people, so we're aware who is calling us.
However, I don't like the prices. We don't use our phone that much and I don't use my 250 minutes, but I feel that we should be rewarded with the gigabytes since we make our payment on time. But as far as the phone, I'm pretty happy with it. I only have WiFi here, but we use the internet when we're out in the area. I also like the 5star service where if we are stranded or in a place where we need help, all we need to do is push that button and it'll be there to help us. My husband still hasn't learned how to take and answer calls. I make him take it all the time, so he can be able to call in case he gets stranded when he's hunting. I recommend them to everybody. When we get out in public or with our friends, they like our phone. We have it set up with my grandkids' pictures on it and we send pictures back and forth. Everybody is very impressed with it. They'd all be talking about their Verizon new phones, but I've got more than they got for less.

iPhones are very complicated and Jitterbug simplifies everything. My first few months with Jitterbug was pretty good. But now, it sometimes turns off by itself while on the phone, cutting off my communication, then it turns back on. Or, somebody would call me and then it will go right to voicemail, or it will ring once or twice and then that's it. I would have to call the person back because I didn't get to the call fast enough. Sometimes it slows down. I called them for that and was advised to turn off my phone when I'm charging. I did that then turn it back on and then it was normal again. The thing is, I might get an emergency call at night from a family member. I can't just turn it off. Also, I bought one of those selfie sticks and we can't seem to make it work on my Jitterbug. I'm satisfied with my experience and if I didn't have all those glitches with it, I would recommend it to anybody.

All of a sudden, I get a bill of $57 for usage and about 20 bucks for that data usage. I hadn't talked to three people since I've had it. It’s handy too especially one time when my cable for my landline was out for half the day. So, it's handy to have it when something like that happens. I saw Jitterbug on TV and it sounded real good like even I could run it. It said, "Any old idiot can run it well," but I'm a proof they're wrong there and I haven't got anything to work but the phone so far. I still use my old phone and I use this Jitterbug about half the time because it's so sensitive. My fingers don't match the buttons so I get the wrong numbers in half the time. I had the Flip phone and it worked easier for me. It seems like the Jitterbug Smart is more of an effort to use than the old one we had. It's overly simple. This phone is a piece of junk and I didn't like it. I'm dissatisfied and I'd rate it very poorly because I misdial way too easy.
I called the Jitterbug team, and I guess the problem is me, but the customer service wasn't really helpful. They explained some of the features but the phone wouldn't answer when I swipe my finger across it. I'm coming to find out my finger isn't compatible. We fixed that part, but that's the only thing that we've got going. I try to use some of the other apps that I'm supposed to be able to use on it but I can't get any of them to work. I can't even connect Facebook for some reason. I called them and asked them out to do it but they can't put me often so I just went somewhere else. The phone does work if I'm lost at some place out on the road and then they tell me where I'm at and that's the only reason I ever kept the thing. It also works long distance or some of the places and we use the phone in Arizona and Washington, which is why we got it for anyway.

I've had the old Jitterbug for years because I'm deaf and it has a really good hearing system in it. I also liked the large keypads. Their customer service has been good. I've used them once or twice when I needed help setting up a phonebook and stuff like that and they were helpful and friendly to me. However, everybody was giving me a hard time because people were trying to send me texts and I didn't have text on that phone. A lot of my friends and family were picking on me saying that I needed to move into the next century. So, I finally broke down and did and got a Jitterbug Touch. My wife also has one and she is text savvy. So, she uses a lot of that texting and stuff like that with my daughter.
When I first got the Jitterbug Touch, I got my first phone call and I looked at the phone trying to find the button to push to answer the phone and I didn't realize that I have to swipe to the right. I was driving then and I had to call my daughter to ask how to answer this thing. It's just a telephone so I shouldn't have to read a 35-page manual to make a phone call. I don't like my it and I'm gonna send it back. There's something wrong with the battery. I'd leave it plugged in for two days and still wouldn't charge to 100%. Then the battery will go from 99% to 50% in three hours without making or receive a phone call. Some of the times, the end button has to be hit four or five times before it'll end the phone conversation. The button is a touchpad and it's not sensitive enough. I'd rather go back to the old Jitterbug if it had a camera in it because I don't like receiving texts and I don't use my phone for the internet. It'd be the perfect phone for me if it did have the camera in it.

Therefore, I could not get it back without paying a fee. I decided that I don't want it anymore, gave up my heat on it and regretted it from that day. But when I got a mail from Jitterbug, I called them right away and got their touchscreen smartphone. I've been having a lot of trouble this year falling. I've been admitted to the hospital 13 times and I can't live like this. So I needed protection and I feel that I have it now with Jitterbug.
I have everything on the Jitterbug phone. It has all my meds in it, and I can show the list, and they can print it out. It's just great. For me, it's better than just having a medical alert system. It's not hard to read because of its big print. And the battery stays charged longer. I am thrilled to have it. If I had to give up a phone, I'd give my Verizon smartphone sooner than later. The only one problem I had was I can't get my email to work no matter what I do so I gave up on it. I get a lot of emails. I'm 83 and the main reason I got it was because I wanted to learn to use apps because I know I'm gonna have to use Uber and I haven't tried to do that. It should be simpler. I take it out and try to make sure it's off and it never works. I can be in a terrible emergency and it wouldn't work because it just always runs down. I also don't know how to take pictures.
I thought that the medical alert feature was gonna be easy for old people and something that I could learn and use and it wasn't as simple as I thought. Those little symbol, that run across the top, I never learned what they meant. And when your eyes are bad, you can't even see tiny things that well. I'm not sure if I would recommend it to any old person.
My husband's a little bit more tech savvy than I am and I try to get him to learn to use it but he doesn't know it either and he used to be a computer programmer. The way he understands the simple thing of turning it on and off, if he hits the side button once and releases it, it's not completely off. But if he pushes and holds it for a couple of seconds, then it completely turns off. If he does it again, it turns back on.
I finally knew how to make and receive phone calls. We have trouble getting on the Internet and frankly, we don't understand what's required. We can do a few things but we're not getting the full range of what it can do. I've had it almost a year now and I haven't learned it. I wish they would make it a little bit easier for everyone.
