I wish I had an option of giving them negative stars. This company is a rip off, despite having their policy in place for over a year, when I filed a claim for a fire at my apartment, not only they denied the claim saying the time of incident did not match the time I mentioned in claim but had the audacity to send me a fraudulent insurance claim and charged me more $$$. I was not covered a single cent for the fire at my apartment despite having their policy in place for over a year and on top of that they sent my claim as a fraudulent claim. Please DO NOT waste a single cent on this company. This is such a rip off and I hope they get their karma.

My apartment building where I moved suggested that I use Homebody to get an insurance. Getting the coverage was super easy and very friendly. Everything was complete in the services that Homebody offered me.

I specifically did not save a backup payment option as it looked like I would be losing my home and yet just now today the last $16 I had was stolen off my card by this company but of course no one's there to answer phones.

I would give a negative star for this insurance company. They are charging me twice for the insurance and charging me 10 days prior to the next policy cycle. These are bunch of scammers looting people. They won’t even refund my money for the policy period in which I have not even used a single day. REFUND is a word which is not in their dictionary.

I moved into a new apartment and Homebody was cheaper. I was going to do it through my car insurance but they were charging me too much. The property recommended Homebody and signing up was easy. This is my first time using them, and the experience has been good.

The sign-up process at HomeBody was easy. The guy on the phone helped out a lot. They offer affordable renters' insurance. My apartment also recommended them.

Signing up with Homebody was easy. They were available, very inexpensive, and have always worked very well with me. I even filed my engagement ring with them. When my husband passed, I didn't know that that coverage continued. My engagement ring was very expensive, and I included that with them.

I currently have Homebody at my apartment and my experience with it has been good. It was an insurance my apartment offered, so I went ahead and got it. Signing up with them was pretty quick. I switched units from one unit in the department to another and switching the insurance from one unit to another was also pretty quick and easy. I would tell my friends that if Homebody is what's recommended, they should go ahead and go with it.

My daughter's college rental uses Homebody for insurance. The absolute worst. I have called and communicated multiple times and they are extremely rude. My daughter has had insurance her entire time and it was accepted when she started renting. Now they claim the insurance doesn't meet their need and are charging her for an additional plan. The best/worst is that I called and they said, "You just need the disclosure form sent in" (we had uploaded multiple docs in the past). I did it right away and 4 days later (after the next fee hit) they told me that I needed to add another company as a "Additional Interest" and they collect another fee. Good customer service is to say "Sorry for the delay in getting back to you please add ... We will waive the fee that we just charged you." Steer clear if you can.

This company is a Scam. Stealing money from people bank account and blaming the company program. Telling customers that it was the computer program that charge a fee of money without authorization. Who are implement Homebody computer program to steal and scam customers? Answer: Homebody Administration and CIO. So don't blame the computer program. For those employee that work for this company and repeat the same information to customers. We aren't child to believe this junk. This company are very unprofessional and horrible.

My apartment required rental insurance and that’s how I came to be with Homebody. The coverage I received was good and the price isn't so high. I haven’t had any problems with it. I did it online, so it was easy to set up. I would suggest to people to get it.

Worst insurance company. Will not pay for your losses. Your house can burn down and they will want receipts. Lol. Will give you the hardest time to cover any items that are loss. Don’t recommend.. Terrible.

Getting coverage from Homebody was very easy and very simple. There was nothing overly complicated, and they were informative. What impressed me most about the representative was how clear everything was. The representative was clear in what he was explaining and it wasn’t a bunch of gobbledygook.
It was a very satisfactory experience. And it didn’t take long at all. I understood everything that was involved and we processed through."

I have Homebody renter’s insurance for my rented property in Philadelphia. The signup process was simple. However, it was a little inconvenient because Homebody was not directly linked to the Residential Portal, so I had to submit the materials there again. When entering my address, it did not automatically show up, so I used the zip code and selected the correct address manually. I think it would be better if there's a direct link to the Residential Portal.
The coverage explanation on the Homebody website was quite clear, especially since the required coverage amount was $10,000. As an international student, I mainly wanted a direct solution that met the apartment’s requirements, and the website made that clear.

Having renter’s insurance from Homebody seemed nice and convenient. It allowed me to add roommates as additional insured, which was a big plus. Thank goodness I never had to file any claims with them since I had it.

They do not answer their phone, despite, their phone message saying this is the best way to contact them! I have called multiple times and been put on indefinite hold. Very frustrating. I will look for alternatives, there must be someone better.

This insurance company is not consumer friendly. I moved out in June of 2025. Just realized they were still charging me. I was forced to buy the insurance through the complex. They refused to offer me any refund. They said that the renter must call and they do not rely on the information provided by the rental company. Just a slimy way to gouge the consumer.

Until I found a better insurance company, I kept paying high rates at Homebody. I would NOT recommend this to ANYONE. The same coverage I found for only $8.99 vs what I paid at Homebody. $22.BIG RIP OFF. Once you are in, you will then be charged $3 something as service fee. Not very trusting.

We were "forced" to purchase our renter's coverage with this company. When my wife and I moved from Orange County to central coastal CA, we notified our insurance that we would be moving and that we would give them necessary information as soon as we moved into our new apartment. We gave the owners of our new building proof of our (bundled AAA auto and) renter's insurance policy and had AAA forward the information to both the new owners of our apartment as well as Homebody. The building's owners told us that we would have to use Homebody because we were advised by the apartment owner/management that, "We have a business agreement with Homebody." They proceeded to charge us a non-renter's insurance fee because we did not "elect" to pay for Homebody insurance. We weren't offered any other alternative insurance companies. It had to be Homebody.
Yes, in the state of CA, you can be panelized for not having rental insurance, but it is illegal to force you to purchase insurance from a specific insurance carrier. Not only did AAA afford us better coverage, along with meeting all the requirements for renter's insurance as specified by the owner/management corporation, but because I have expensive music and computer equipment which exceeded the coverage limits of Homebody, I was willing to pay a higher premium and deductible by using AAA. In fact, by purchasing Homebody's insurance, I would have had to pay more for less coverage.
Finally, two months after I'd cancelled my Homebody insurance, I received an email from them letting me know that our policy with them had been cancelled. It's pretty obvious that the corporation that owns our apartment complex gets kick-backs from Homebody. I came back to the U.S. after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease just before the Covid epidemic hit. I only returned to the U.S. because I'd spent a year in Vietnam after getting drafted where many veterans like me have either already died or are living with horrible illnesses due to Agent Orange exposure (in my case, it included contaminated drinking water while stationed in Camp LeJeune).

Horrendous customer service (they do not response to emails for weeks and their procedures are confusing and not transparent). They seem to have a deal with the apartment complex I live in so you are basically forced to use them. They are the people who verify to the residential company that I have coverage — seems sus to me. I received an umbrella policy with my auto insurance and the amount of hoops I needed to jump through to cancel Homebody was ridiculous. Buyer beware — unless you are, I guess, forced to use them. Sketchy as hell.
