In April of 2011, I purchased a 2009 Nissan Sentra from a local Nissan dealership. My husband and I financed the vehicle originally through the dealership, who then shopped out the loan to Capital One Bank. We added this vehicle to our current insurance policy with Progressive online, with our lien holder information. On Tuesday, January 31st, I was in an at fault accident with another vehicle. When I called our insurance company, Progressive, I was told that while we did have liability and comprehensive coverage, we did not have collision coverage. I reviewed our policy online, and found that we when we renewed our policy online, we did indeed select comprehensive and liability, and not collision on accident, and had been driving for 10 months thinking we were fully covered through our insurance.
Because lien holders typically require collision/full coverage, I called Capital One to ask why we were not notified that we didn't have all the insurance coverage they required. Capital One informed me that they had no insurance on file for us. I called Progressive back to ask if they had sent over our insurance policy to Capital One, when we added the Sentra and lien holder information. Their response was that they didn't send insurance information out, unless it was requested by the policy holder.
My complaint is that Progressive did not send over our insurance policy information to Capital One, when we filled out our insurance application and lien holder information, even though they are responsible to both us and the lien holder. Had they sent over our policy, Capital One would have been able to see that we did not have the required coverage for our loan, and notified us that we needed to update our policy.

We have been insured with Progressive for two years. Prior to this we were always insured with preferred carriers. My wife and I are divorcing so I called Progressive to get my own policy. I have a perfect driving record, safe driver, 57 years old and currently our policy is $1100 per six months for two cars. I have had two non-fault claims in the past four years. One claim was a hit-and-run on my SUV in 2007. It was parked, no occupants; the other was hitting road debris from a semi-truck on an interstate in my wife's car in 2011. When I called to get my own policy I was quoted $1700 for six months when my vehicle before was $542 for six months. This is absurd, I have been insured with them previously, two claims on two different vehicles for accidents that could not be avoided and they want me to pay triple the premium while my wife keeps the original policy with minimal premium change.

My driver's license was suspended for not "blowing", during a traffic stop. I was not convicted of anything. The suspension was effective in June 2011. I had/have a policy, which is set to expire on February 28, 2012. It was paid in full, on or before February 28, 2011. Progressive, of course, had full knowledge of the traffic stop, and naturally saw fit to increase the premium on my 30 MPH, three-wheeled electric car under this policy (by 50%). However, since my driver's license is suspended, I am not driving any motor vehicle. I did not accept Progressive's new terms, and notified them of this, primarily because I don't need car insurance until June 2012, when I get my license back, but also because of the premium increased.
Undaunted, Progressive is billing me for the "new" policy already. I have notified them several times I do not (cannot) use insurance now, and if anything, they owe me a refund. Of course, that's not "the way it works". Insurance companies, rarely if ever, give refunds for money they haven't earned. They simply think they are entitled to whatever they can swindle out of you. I simply want them to stop billing me for a policy which is a figment of their imagination. This is criminal, or should be. I am very upset.

My home was built in 2001. I never had a claim on my home. Recently, with the change of weather, the septic pump stopped working, and my washing machine backed up through my shower stall, and dumped a lot of water into three areas of my home, bathroom, floors, solid wood flooring, and guest room carpeting. I was told by Service Master, who provided excellent & prompt service, that the clean up would cost around $3,800.00 to dry up, prevent mildew & mold, replace sub floors, etc. This does not include replacing any flooring.
An independent adjuster showed up at my house on Sunday (Rebecca), and her findings and the review of the supervisor at Progressive was not to pay my claim. Why does this not surprise me? My claim number is **. I have friends staying in my home, as I took a temporary employment in Texas, until I can return home. He said I did not purchase a waiver. I said one was never offered!

Long story short, I lost my job, life went down the comode. Got two full time jobs to play catch up, got my feet back under me. Then I got a personal property tax bill from a county I never lived in, or garaged anything in, so I wasn't responsible for paying it. I was paying those taxes in the county I lived in. (Wrong). This unrelated county put a hold on my registration renewal, but in the mean time, I had to work, and I had a newborn son. My money went to supporting my family, as my infant son's mother was a stay-at-home mommy. So here I am now, filing SR-22 with Progressive for $190 a month, and getting my feet back under me. Now, 6 months into my policy with them, I've been working on my credit, got my PP taxes straight, license is straight, credit's improved significantly, and a random rate increase hits and I'm having to pay $220 a month. FML. Getting a part-time job on the side to cover my insurance, I don't need to spend any time with my son anyways. ** you, Flo.

I was rear-ended at a flashing red light. The accident involved 3 vehicles, with mine in front, a second vehicle behind me, and a third one (insured by Progressive). I felt the impact from behind. I didn't see what really happened behind me. The guy in the back said the guy in the middle cut him off, and that's why he hit him. The guy in the middle said he didn't cut him off. Long story short, nobody wants to admit fault, and I am left in the middle with a damaged car and Progressive not taking responsibility for his client. The accident was over 4 months ago. I have called them multiple times. They say they will call me back, and they never do. I'm not trying to get any money. I just want the people that hit me to be responsible for the damages. So far Progressive has been the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They forget why the law requires us to have insurance, and that is to be financially responsible for any damages. I'm very disappointed with this company.

I did the same thing and even purchased a new policy from another company that I researched on the Internet as a top rated car insurer for several years by J. D. Powers , before my policy expired with Progressive and did not ask for any refund. I have never been involved in any accident or filed a claim with Progressive while being insured with them or any other accident in over 30 years and I never an accident that was my fault.
I switched from Progressive, who has a terrible customer service record and who was charging me 3 times as much for a better policy with a top number one customer rated insurance company at 1/3 the cost . That was over a year ago. This past week, I found out that Progressive placed on my credit report that I failed to pay them $76 for not informing them that I was no longer going to renew my insurance with them . Of Course at that time, I only called them by phone and had no paperwork to back up my claim of non renewal.
Now, I have no choice but to pay them the additional money just to clear my credit report of this false information. Progressive and the people who work for this company are no more than common criminals, liars and cheats. I believe that it is very clear why Progressive has so many advertisements everyday at such a huge cost of millions of dollars . If they can bring in as many new customers everyday as much as the customers that they just lost by screwing them over , then they will win and we, the customers, will lose. That is their plan and goal! I found the company I have now by doing some simple research over the Internet . Maybe 20 minutes maximum . They do not have any T V commercials and do not need the character of Flo to sell their insurance to an unsuspecting potential customer. A better name for Progressive would be Predator. Let the buyer beware. I am lucky I got out before they could really take me to the cleaners .

He knew I needed it by the first of Feb. Again did not bother to help me. I contacted another Progressive agent and wow, 15 minutes later, I had my insurance. I then contacted via text my agent and guess what. He responded back right away making up a lame excuse. I am very angry and would like to be given to another agent or I will leave.

After two tries, Progressive service center on Telegraph Rd in Glen Allen, VA, has failed to restore my car to the way it looked, before their client hit me. Where in the policy does it say that I don't have a right to have my car restored to pre-accident condition? This is bad faith, and I'm pursuing it with the Virginia Insurance Commission, and my own car insurance. I am very dissatisfied.

My car got hit in front of my house (parked and not moving, no people inside) by a lady insured by Progressive. That was more than 3 weeks ago (01.21.12). She was honest enough to leave her phone and insurance info on my windshield. I appreciate that, but what followed dealing with her insurance is the most painful experience I have had (the lead is still held by the mortgage companies). There was a claim representative assigned to the claim, who started investigating and trying to figure out if there was a preexisting damage before that accident. It took him 2 weeks to determine there was no preexisting damage on the car. Then meanwhile I had to go to their office and get their estimate on the damage and the guy there gave me an estimate on the parts. He saw damaged only outside (bumper, grill, headlight, rebar, etc.). He told me when I bring the car to a body shop if something more needs to be fixed, they will send a person to re-estimate the damage and they will take care of it. And sure enough there was mechanical damage behind the bumper and grill that had to be estimated.
And I started being given run around for a week. I have been bouncing between 3 people, who I can not reach and I am leaving messages and can not have the car fixed because they just do not cooperate and do their job. In fact I was told yesterday by the person who is supposed to go in the shop where the car is and make the estimate, after I have been calling the 3 gentlemen all day, that he recommends me to go to a body shop (preferably to the body shops they Progressive have) and not to my mechanic, who I trust and know for years. He said mechanics do not have the proper equipment to do body work and they delay ordering parts and fixing the cars and the insurance will end up paying unnecessary fees for rental car. Well, the parts that already have been estimated being damaged for the body work have been ordered already and will be here tomorrow. All I need is someone to go and inspect the mechanical damage so they can start working on the car. And I am doing that before even I have gotten any checks from them. So I don’t know who is making all the delays, not my mechanic for sure.
I am going on my 4th week since the accident and my car is still not fixed and I have no check from them and it is not even my fault that their client backed into my car in front of my house. Very disappointed and angry. I am considering contacting attorney at this point because nobody seems to care in Progressive.

In April of 2011, my car was totaled when someone illegally turned in front of me. His insurance is Progressive. I had not heard a thing from Progressive for 2 weeks. When Brian ** called, he gave me 3 days to settle my claim, without having seen any paperwork. After receiving the paper work of how they determined the value of my car, it was totally unreasonable (low-ball). Brian ** kept using the phrase "it is our policy", however it was not a fair settlement. It is now 11 months later, and my claim is not yet settled.

A Progressive client hit my car over a week ago. I filed a claim with the insurance representative. I was told they could not do anything, until they had heard from their client. What if their client never calls? Do I not get my car fixed? A police report was filed; their client was issued a ticket. How long does Progressive have to get my car fixed? Do I need to get an attorney?
I also called this morning and told my dilemma to Christy (513-588-2700). She was non-responsive, non-caring, just non. She didn't give a ** attitude about the whole thing. Come on, Progressive. Do all your money go to the commercials? What about training for your representatives? After all, they represent the company. Why should I have to inconvenience my self by getting an attorney? On Oct 31st, I moved out of Ohio to SC. I canceled my insurance with Progressive on Nov 1st, due to the much higher costs. Also, my car was broken, causing me not to be able to drive anyway. When I went to go check my email a few weeks later, I had gotten a notice from Progressive, saying my billing period had changed per my request, and my new amount was $87 per month. That's odd, since I canceled my account with them. I called them once I was off from work, and was informed that I had canceled my Mazda, but I had gotten a Ford Edge, and was now insuring that in OH. Firstly, I no longer live in OH. Secondly, I still have my Mazda, and it's broken down in the apartment parking lot, and thirdly, I don't even know what a Ford Edge looks like.
She then told me it has all my information, and the billing was the same. I hung up, and instantly called my old bank that was tied to Progressive, and sure enough, money had been withdrawn to pay for this new insurance. I called Progressive back instantly, and was told, since I disputed said account, I cannot access it, and that if I truly believe someone was using my identity, I should file for identity theft. After taking all the routes of filing identity theft, having my credit frozen, not being able to pull any new lines of credit, or start any new accounts include a bank, or new insurance, 3 months passes by. This week, a Progressive rep called me to discuss my complaint, 3 months later! She informs me I misunderstood the first woman, and that there is a different woman with my same birth date and last name living in the same county in OH (I think I know my relatives, and trust me I am the oldest cousin), and the charges were due to them renewing the canceled policy. It's not adding up. Now, I need to hire a lawyer to get this cleared, so I can get a bank account, new car insurance, and resume starting my new life. The person who said the woman turned everything around on them, and was making it their fault, instead of Progressive's, couldn't be more right.

My rates are raised because I do not have a good credit rating. This is distortion. The state demands I have insurance. My credit rating is not correct. In any case it has nothing to do with my buying insurance, not any more than my going to the store and buying peanut butter. I get the peanut butter if I pay for it, the same with insurance. I get insured if I pay for it. If not, I don't get coverage. The insurance companies make huge profits and this increased charge is not and should not be allowed. It's distortion. Also, it’s distortion for a state to demand we have insurance and then companies like these profit without control.

I was quoted by Progressive Insurance before buying my 07 Chrysler Sebring. I was not told about Gap insurance, when I was purchasing insurance on the car. I then was in an accident on 1/25/12. Based on word of mouth, my car was deemed totaled, and the loaning bank was called by my Progressive accident handler, and asked where to send the check.
All this was done, before my car was looked at by the adjuster. I then received a rental on 1/26/12, because I pay for rental insurance, and the rental reimbursement policy states $30 per day for 30 days. My rental is to be taken away by Friday, 2/3/12. Which now means that I have only had my rental that I'm insured for, for thirty days, I have had for only 6days. My offer on the payout is substantially lower than what I owed on the car, and I did not authorize the offer given to me, so my claim should still be open.
It is now evident that I was highly over-financed. I am furious, and don't know why I'm sending a complaint, because it is evident that big insurance companies collected my $260 per month payment for over 6 years, and now don't want to give me any compensation in return. I am regretfully, a Progressive customer. For attorney purposes, me and my son have been documented for our injuries, and any legal consultation is appreciated.

Everything is hunky dory when these fiends want your business but make a claim or get past the first six months of your policy and make a relatively small claim, two doors having to be replaced which in today's market is diddly; and your premium will be more than double. It’s very reasonable that first six months. And then when you inquire about the dramatic increase in premium price, they will say it has to do with your credit report, which has nothing to do with the fact you paid the full premium up-front and then they'll hedge here and hedge there. These people are shysters and crooks. I will be getting rid of them as soon as possible. They're horrible. They are wolves in sheep's clothing, but boy they do put on a good front. I was about to convince friends of mine I had the best insurance on the planet. I hope they go bankrupt. They are Wall Street.

To make the long story short, my 2003 Toyota Camry was involved in a hit and run accident, which left my car totaled. They did find the driver who hit my car. Progressive auto insurance, which I had during the time, issued the car being a totally lost vehicle. Progressive deducted $500 from the total cost of my vehicle. Instead of them deducting it from the other insurance carrier, which is what they was supposed to do, and that's what they told me they were going to do. They waited until a whole entire year to get back with me, just to tell me that they quit pursuing the case. I figured that wasn't right at all, for them to take the deductible from my money that I receive from the accident.
Progressive told me that they were taking the other insurance company through a collection agency. I never heard from them anymore, until about a year later passed by. I have been cheated and lied to, about the progression of the case. I just want what is rightfully mine, and that's my $500 deductible. The lawyer that I had at the time told me that they were supposed to go after the other insurance company, for the deductible. They never did that.

My car was stolen on November 1, 2011 while parked outside a local night club. I filed a claim with Progressive and they advised me to give the police at least 30 days to search for my vehicle. I didn't have rental coverage on my vehicle. I have been paying for rental car expenses out of pocket, $200 plus a week. 3 days after I filed the claim, I sent Progressive invoices for custom work that was done on my vehicle.
I heard nothing from Progressive for 40 days. I had left voice messages and they were never returned. Finally, I was contacted by a Progressive investigator and told that she wanted me to go over the incident. As I began to recap the events of that awful evening, she interrupted and basically called me liar. She started to interrogate me and accused me of selling my vehicle. She had no victim empathy or compassion. I left that "interview" troubled and disturbed.
I was then contacted by Progressive and they requested 3 months bank statements and phone records, which" loosely" according to my policy, I must provide. I sent in the requested documents and I'm still being told that my claim is pending. I continue to pay a $430 car payment, $140 to Progressive for insurance on a vehicle that's been gone for 57 days, not to mention 57 days of rental car expense.
Is this the image that Progressive portrays to in its ads? I am truly suffering from this experience, not to mention that I feel as if I were discriminated against. I am stressed, unable to eat, and hurting.

Do you want to deal with a company like this? Last July, my 18-year-old son was helping a friend's mother move her belongings from Big Bear to Orange County using her Suburban. While there, he backed into a Subaru wagon, causing minimal damage to the driver's side fender. Information was exchanged with the owner. What was a minor event that should have been taken care of has turned into an absolute nightmare with harassing and threatening phone calls from Progressive Insurance. Even on Sunday morning, there were automated phone calls from their collection agency.
As it turned out, the friend's mother did not have the vehicle insured and is in a financially precarious position, something my son could not have guessed as they were moving from one nice house to another and the Suburban was a late model vehicle. So, instead of going after the owner of the vehicle who was reckless and indifferent to tell anybody to drive her vehicle, Progressive decides to go after the easier target, the young adult.
Three lessons learned from this. 1) No good deed goes unpunished. 2) Always check if a vehicle is properly insured before you drive it. Don't be embarrassed to ask the owner for proof of insurance. 3) Do not deal with an insurance company that has such a deplorable practices and preys on young adults. They don’t even have the courtesy to respond to written correspondence by my lawyer. That should tell you how arrogant and indifferent they are. Even though it may end up costing me more in time and money, I have decided to take this to court out of principle.

On Mar. 27, 2009, I was rear ended by a Progressive insured while shifting into first gear at a stoplight. At the time, she apologized for stepping on the gas instead of braking, but later lied at a deposition claiming she rolled into my car. There was obvious impact and pictures of frame damage. For me, since I was shifting at the time, I had way more issues than if I had been just sitting there. At the time of the accident, I was a very athletic, petite, 5'2, 35 year old (running, snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing, etc). After the accident, I had severe arm, wrist, hand pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, stomach, groin and hip pain. I had trouble walking, was extremely exhausted, lethargic, irritable and had a difficult time being intimate with my husband due to the hip struggles. All activities stopped. I eventually required hip surgery and will need future care based on my MRIs and the pain I still have.
Unfortunately, "Oregon Law" states that your "PIP covers the first year only". I had a 100K policy and used less than a third. My medical insurance stepped in afterwards, however, didn't cover everything. After almost 3 years, depleting my savings account and around $60K in medical expenses, Progressive offered settlement of $5000 (their first written offer was around $1000). After the attorneys argued with a mediator, their final offer was $15000! This was $15000 total! Nothing to cover future medical, didn't come close to covering for current medical and absolutely nothing for punitive damages even though 2 years of my life were taken from me. Gee, you think their attorney probably got paid more than that? I'm sure.
I'm now almost 38, I am starting my life again and can't tell you how horrible Progressive treats the victims of their insured. In case you're wondering, I didn't go to court because that would've cost me another $8000 and could've resulted in $0. This is what they do! Be aware! Progressive is currently one of the worst insurance companies out there as far as claims and being responsible! They have many, many commercials and offer "great coverage", but you can be assured they never pay for anything! You may have heard of frivolous lawsuits but real money is never paid to actual victims and instead, line the pockets of greedy insurance companies like Progressive and their lawyers!

A driver who was covered by Progressive struck my wife. The police report stated that it was Progressive driver's fault. The company waited five days to put me into a rental car which was a major inconvenience for me. In addition, they finally called me stating that they were considering my truck a total loss. In doing so, they made me an offer of $4187.05 which on a truck that has a NADA value of $5650. I have spoken with them several times about the issue with no satisfaction. They say that they do not use book value but have a company get comparables to verify the value of my truck. The trucks that they got comparables on were not in very good condition and most were not even my truck.
I was then asked to turn in comparables that I found, which I did (13 of them) and they said they cannot use them because I searched a radius of 200 miles to find the trucks. At this point, I have heard nothing back from them and do not have a second automobile to drive. This company has treated me very unfairly and I am getting nowhere with them at this point. I even made a counter offer of $4600 + salvage rights to settle, which they turned down. I feel like I am being pushed around and that there is nothing I can do about it. It was their driver's fault. I have had Progressive off and on over the years, and filed several complaints. Unfortunately the last one taught me the biggest lesson. I was stopped on a State Highway waiting for oncoming traffic to clear to make my signaled left turn. Just as the oncoming traffic cleared and I had started to turn, a car rear-ended us at +45mph. I had a young passenger in my car and was so involved with worrying about him. Talking to the police on the phone, I did not see the driver of the other vehicle actually drive off! Unfortunately even though I knew I only had liability insurance, this not-at-fault accident counts against me with my policies in the future.
That is my story, nothing Progressive was at fault for, and I knew this was the case because I read my policy from bow to stern! Something the majority of the bogus complainers seem to have failed to do. Are there some legitimate complaints here? Absolutely! When this occurs the very first thing you need to do if there is substantial money and injuries involved is contact an attorney. But foremost is to thoroughly read your policies prior to having an issue in the first place!

He took all blame at the scene then revised his statement to the police. 2 weeks later, I received a ticket in the mail for improper left turn. Of course, I contested the ticket. When the other party failed to appear to verify his claim of what happened 3 times, they finally dismissed it. I requested my PIP to be opened as I have liability (which covers my PIP: personal injury protection). They sent me to a biased doctor for an IME (medical examination) which I said I didn't want to go to because they, in sense, work for progressive.
When I did not hear back for over a month and could never reach my rep when constantly calling, I finally got a hold of my rep today (Richard ** **!). What he told me shocked me. He said the doctor said nothing is wrong with me (go figure, biased doctors!). I am a young 25-year old male with my whole life to look ahead too. My life was forever changed on Feb. 13, 2010. I fight back pain everyday and can never sleep at night. I went to a BS chiropractor for a few months and stopped because that crap is a hoax and put me in more pain I felt. Also, I went to acupuncture for over 4 months as it helped a little at times, which they have documented. May I mention that I did everything in my power to help alleviate my pain (walks, stretches, core exercises, stretching in warm saunas, swimming, new furniture, bed, etc.)
I don't know how these people sleep at night. I hope these blood-sucking, inhuman ** get the karma they deserve. I am deeply saddened and my back injuries have made me depressed, literally. I can't do any of the things I used to and I feel so enraged right now. It's a sad world we are living in that people can make money off another's misery. Karma will come back around to you one way or another.

On Dec 18, 2011, I was hit by a Progressive driver in a parking lot. He was in front of me in a truck turning left. I proceeded to turn left after him. He then stopped in which I stopped and then starting to back up. I honked my horn to tell him I was behind him and he hit the front of my car. He knew he was at fault and since it was my word against his. There were people in front of the business but nobody came forward as witnesses. The police came but since it was on private property, they could not do a police report.
I filed a claim with Progressive the next day. So on Dec 28, I called and didn't get an answer from the adjustor. Then, today I called again and they told me that they only found the guy who hit me only 10% at fault. The adjustor told me that they had a witness who worked at the business where it happened and they said that I was on my cell phone. That was a total lie because if I was on my cell phone, I wouldn't have stopped and honked my horn. He also stated that they had pictures.
I asked him when they interviewed the "witness" and he said Dec 28th. So a week and half goes by and now of a sudden there is a witness!? I asked him for the statement and I have not heard back from them. I am very frustrated at how low Progressive is. I have to come out of my pocket to pay for what this man did to my car. Oh and I was sending my pictures to the adjustor and he gave me a bogus email! I'm so through with this! God don't like ugly and for all those involved in this will get what they deserve!

ON 9/28/2011, my fiance was on his way to work when he encountered construction on the interstate. He was sitting at a complete stop when a Progressive insured driver hit him at a rate of speed that exceeded 45 mph. My fiance was injured and we sought same day treatment for his injuries. The same day, the claims specialist from Progressive called to get a recorded statement. At that time, I informed her that we would not be signing medical authorization forms but would provide all needed information. The agent became rude and combative, and we terminated the conversation. My fiance had to see a specialist, schedule an appointment to get an MRI and return to the emergency room.
He missed several days of work and several nights of sleep because of the injury. I called the claims specialist once we began to receive medical bills, I ask her what information she needed. She stated I should make copies of the medical bills, pharmacy expenses and documentation regarding lost wages. I obtained all of that information and sent the package. Two weeks later, I still hadn't received a call or any mail from Progressive. We called to follow up and our agent was not in the office, we called again and she was on vacation. Finally we were able to reach her and she stated that she had not began processing our claim because she needed procedure codes and physicians' notes. This was not requested when I initially asked what information was needed.
Frustrated, I spent another day visiting each doctor and obtaining procedure codes and physician notes. I sent this information via certified mail. Today my fiance called and was told that we did not send billing numbers and that 'It's Christmas, everyone is submitting their claims and your claim is now at the bottom of the priorities list' by our claims specialist. I then called and asked what the difference was between a billing number and an invoice or account number which are present on the documents I sent. I could not get an answer. The customer service representative then began arguing that I had not sent the forms. I told her that I had sent it certified mail and because of the incompetence thus far, I had kept copies of all documents sent in the exact order that I had sent them.
I asked her to retrieve the packet so I could go through the documents with her page by page. I knew I had sent the information for that specialist. The customer service representative became rude and defensive on behalf of the claim representative. I asked for a corporate number because I had previously spoken with the office manager, who was unconcerned and dismissive, and was told that she didn't have to provide that information to me. I found Progressive on Facebook, posted to their wall and Brittany commented on my post and provided an email address to send my information and claim number. Within an hour I had sent that information, 15 minutes later, I receive a voicemail from the branch manager who I had previously spoken to, and gotten nowhere with, in the message, he was argumentative and defensive. He suggested I return his call so he could provide clarification regarding the process.
Progressive has continuously impeded the process by not providing a list of information needed, 'misplacing or failing to receive' our documents, claiming that information sent is not the correct information, etc. Short of notarizing each piece of paper I send to them and sending that certified mail, I don't know what else to do. I have requested a new claims representative or office to deal with because of the problems with our current office, and the request has been ignored. In addition to the bodily claim injury stress and incompetence, we also had to wait 45 days for our property damage to be repaired. Our claims representative, her manager and the entire company have no concept of customer service. Short of obtaining legal counsel, which is terrifying after reading the consumer affairs complaints on this company, I don't know how to resolve this issue.
I am the only advocate, I have and/or can afford. It seems that there should be a third party involved just to be sure that things like 'lost documents' and failure to request all needed information in a timely manner doesn't occur.

On October 24, 2011, I was driving down I-85, running some errands. When I ran into a large piece of retread debris in the road, as I attempted to avoid the debris, but it was to large and it was was unavoidable, which struck the bottom of the front underneath of my vehicle and my front tires. Immediately, I got off at the next exit. I got out, looked and could see damage to the front of my car. I then called Progressive and filed a claim. Lewis ** from Progressive met me at Wilbanks Body Shop in Cornelia to asses the damage. It wrote everything up and was extremely nice. He stated that I could take the vehicle to anyone I wanted to to get the damages fixed, and he printed me a check for the amount of the damage less the deductible. I then took the car to the shop that I normally use and got the damages fixed.
Once I went to pick the car up, I noticed that the car was shaking and vibrating pretty bad while driving between 40 to 50 mph. So I called the body shop and Randall ** told me to bring the car back and he would ride with me down the road to see if we could figure out what was wrong with it. I then took the car, we rode down the road and he stated, "The problem has to be in either the tires or the wheels." So I then took it to Tim's Automotive off Hwy 115 in Clarkesville. They tried to balance all the tires, but was unable to completely balance the two front tires because the wheels were warped. I then called Progressive to let them know about this damage and they let me speak to Nathan. Nathan told me that he needed to come out to the shop and check the wheels to make sure they were actually warped. He went out, called me and said that he verified that the wheels were warped and that he would pay me for 2 wheels.
I then told Tim's Automotive that I wanted to purchase the two wheels, and they said that I could get them from a junk yard for $50.00. Then I noticed that amount was all that Nathan had given me. My vehicle is a 2009 Chrysler PT cruiser with approximately 30,000 miles on it. I did not want to put junk yard wheels on my car. So I called Nathan to express my concerns and he wanted to know why I didn't want to put used wheels on my car. I told him the way I felt about it. He was very unprofessional, he told me, "I am doing you a favor my fixing your car." He was talking down to me and like I was trash or something. So I refused to talk to him anymore. He then called me and left me a voicemail stating that they would pay for the new wheels. But he didn't think that the wheels was all of my problem that he thought it might be in the tires, and to call him back once we put the wheels on the car to let him know if that fixed the problem.
Unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem and I called him back. He then stated that he wanted to test drive the car that there may be a problem with the front end. I didn't feel that there was a problem with the front end, so I was at Tim's Auto and Tim stated that he could put two new tires on the car to see if that stopped the shaking. So I said, "Go ahead, I would like to see if that fixes it." Well, it did fix the problem. So I called Nathan to tell him that I figured out the problem and thought he would be happy, but no he was irate because I had put two new tires on my car and didn't let him test drive it first. So knowing how he treated me to start with and the way he started talking down to me again, I just hung up and called the customer service department and they gave me the phone number to his supervisor Larry ** and apparently Nathan had already spoke to Larry because he was upset with me as well and stated that he didn't want to pay anything because I didn't let me look at the car first.
Well, I called the customer service number back and they gave me another person's name to call. His name was Chris **, the boss of Larry **. Chris was nice, but told me that he wasn't going to pay for the tires even after inspecting them because he didn't feel the damage to the tires came from the accident. The certified mechanic at Tim's automotive stated that the tire damage was from the wheel being warped. I am very unhappy and I want this complaint resolved. My tires were about 30% to 40% worn but I feel like Progressive owes me at least 60% to 70% of what I paid for the tires. It's really not that much money to loose over a lifetime customer.

On November 2, 2011, I purchased a 2012 Chrysler 200 limited. It is my first new car and also signed on to the worst insurance company known to mankind! So I was under the impression that I had a good alarm system on it. Well, to my surprise the day before thanksgiving my vehicle was stolen from my boyfriend's driveway. They broke in the window and took my vehicle all w/o the alarm sounding off! Well, that was totally a surprise. However, I was in for a bigger surprise when I called Progressive to inform them about the incident. First off, they called me in for a recorded interview in which I complied with.
At the interview, I was interrogated for 40 minutes. I was then interrogated another 3 more times after that along with a family member of mine! What Progressive failed to tell me when I signed my premium was that I had to verify my address and have a proof of my medical insurance which neither was an issue but I was informed a week after my first initial payment that my policy could go up if I didn't have those documents in ASAP! So, I called my agent and told him that I could fax my medical card information that day. However, by me just moving to a different address that they would have to wait a couple weeks for me to fax over my check stub with my current address. He said that it was okay and not a problem. Of course, until this happened!
Even though I faxed in all my documents verifying my address, they are now saying that based from the interview of my boyfriend and neighbors that I falsified information and they are denying my claim! I keep my car in a garage at my apartment complex so of course, my neighbors wouldn't see it often! Besides, I just moved in along with I only had the car for 3 weeks! This company is fraudulent and needs to be out of business and employees who work for them ought to be ashamed. How can this company do this? I'm in the process of getting an attorney to help me with my good faith claim!

I carry full coverage on 4 vehicles. My daughter was hit in the back bumper by a SafeAuto customer in March 2011. They paid the claim and we fixed the bumper with the check SafeAuto sent us. In September 2011, a guy hit her in the bumper again. Since it was a busy street, he convinced her to leave the scene of the accident and pull into the parking lot of IHOP on the side of the street where the accident occurred. Don't ask me why. She knows better.
Once they pulled into the parking lot of IHOP, the male driver that ran into her drove away. She called the police department in Edmond, OK where she is a college student in her 4th year. The officer filled out the accident report and it is on file with their department. I contacted Progressive immediately after I spoke to my daughter about the details.
Late in October, I began to get phone calls from a Jennifer Hess in Progressive's Claim Department. She wanted me to provide her with receipts and photographs of the previous March accident. I have no photographs of the vehicle after we repaired the damage that SafeAuto paid us for. I have no receipts either because a family member buffed out the damage to the bumper and we paid him cash. He does not have a business or shop that he works out of.
On November 26, 2011, I received a notice that Progressive was closing this claim because I didn't provide them with pictures of the March incident after the damage was repaired. I have paid and carried full coverage on all my vehicles for 34 years and have yet to encounter any company that required their customers to take pictures of the damaged vehicle before or especially after the damage has been repaired. I have spent 2 months trying to work with Progressive to no avail.
Do you have any suggestions? Isn't it their job to photograph the vehicle if it is so important to them? I have pictures of the damaged vehicle which I provided but no pictures of the vehicle repaired. I never have photographed a vehicle after a repair and I have never been asked to do so.

A little over 2 weeks ago I was rear-ended by a Progressive- insured driver. When they determined that my car was totaled, they offered me a settlement amount that was $1500 below NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association the accepted guideline used for determining used car value among most auto dealers and insurance companies) and $1200 below Kelly Blue Book price (a more commonly known pricing guide used by consumers). When I questioned the amount they told me that was their offer and they would not budge on the price. Take it or leave it.
They furnished me 5 comparable cars and their prices they used to determine the value of my vehicle. First: All 5 vehicles were selected from either a buy here, pay here corner lot dealers or from individuals in the Trading Times magazine. When I contacted the sellers of these vehicles I discovered the following. One car needs (in the words of the dealer) a complete paint job it was totally weathered from the Florida sun. When I asked if it could be buffed out he commented absolutely not, it needs a paint job. Another had substantial rocker panel damage on the passenger’s side that amounted to a minimum of $1000 to repair. A third had a rather worn cloth interior with minor stains. Mine had mint leather interior. The other two were from advertisements from 2 months ago, and had been sold.
Now for the real kicker when they priced these cars they did not use the price listed in the ad as their value. They assumed the dealer would take 15% less than listed and only offered me that mount for my vehicle. What a rip off. This company is beyond conniving they are absolutely dishonest. They offer unsubstantiated values (with no documentation to back them up) and refuse to negotiate or even listen to your arguments to the contrary.
My only alternative was to turn to my own insurance company to file the claim. They are currently processing it, and will issue me a check for my car shortly. They will then subjugate the payment back to Progressive for their reimbursement. If you currently have progressive insurance my suggestion is to change to another company. If you’re thinking of getting Progressive insurance think again. Do you really want to deal with thieves?

On December 19, 2010, my husband was taking my son to work up the road. When my husband took a left turn, he stopped at the stop sign, all was clear. There was another car coming from the opposite direction that saw my husband taking the left turn.
We live in a corner home so the stop sign is outside our bedroom window. When my husband took the left turn with our son, a 2-time DUI driver coming at the speed of 80 miles an hour hit my husband's Kia, at full force, applying no brakes. It was a loud explosion and I had this horrible gut feeling it was my husband who got hit. I ran outside and to my horror, my husband was hit and went running to his car. Many people had come out of their homes. He was unconscious and my son who was sitting at the back, was caught between the front seat. The drunk driver had two prior DUIs and tried to run away from the scene, but witnesses stopped him until the police arrived.
He only carried the minimum coverage of $25,000.00. He had have the same insurance company. We had under insured motorist of $250,000.00 per person. My husband was my caretaker for the last 5 years before this tragedy happened. My husband's skull was split in back and he suffered 2 subdural hematomas and 4 broken ribs and broken knee cap, and ruptured spleen. Progressive has given both of us and our son nothing more but torture. They put my husband through a 4-hr deposition and the 3 hrs of that had nothing to do with the accident, but they purely character assassinated my husband who was struggling and confused through it all.
I have a video of it and I can't even watch it. Things got a lot worse, as I will write in consequences. He never got the help he needed going through batteries of "Injury Clinics", playing down the seriousness of my husband's injuries. Can you imagine trying to give him physical therapy with these injuries? With my bad health issues to top it off, they just gave us a miserable time arguing over the phone with us. My son's attorney never sued neither the DUI driver or Progressive. We have a witness statement given to the police that saw everything.

I enjoy reading these complaints on various companies from time to time. These sites are vital for customers to have a voice and band together at the growing corporate country we live in. Companies are becoming much less accountable and much more hidden behind "customer service walls" and the inability to confront the decision maker.
That being said, I do try to remain objective when reading them and I find insurance company complaints are among the most grossly ignorant and utterly ridiculous of complaints out there. I find the vast majority of people complaining about insurance companies have no idea what they are saying and I can picture a Pabst Blue Ribbon in their hand as they say it.
It's funny how people state things like "they denied me" but do not explain why they were denied and then go on to say how they pay premiums and this is what they get in return. The funny part is for a company to deny a claim or a policy, it takes a tremendous amount of proof or circumstances since the ability to litigate the company is very easy for bad faith cases. You were denied because you didn't pay, you committed fraud, or you ignored the thousand warnings they send, email, text, and call you about the policy.
I compare these complaints to people stating casinos are cheating because it is so hard for the consumer to prove it so they can and do cheat. The ignorance of that is astounding. Do you honestly think a gold mine like a casino or an insurance company is going to cheat you to get a few bucks and risk their billions on getting caught 1 time? If you do, you're an idiot. Plus, a company like Progressive has 30k+ employees, so one evil man at the top won't be able to cheat you without everyone down the chain being on board.
Finally, people/ customers are the crooked ones, certainly not everyone, but a decent minority are trying to cheat the insurance company. Some how insurance got a bad rap in the media. How? Lawyers that's how. Injury lawyers are vicious sharks at the bottom of the legal community barrel and they convince innocent people that insurance will screw them if they don't lawyer up. This increases premiums and gets claims denied when the company was willing to pay something but not a ridiculous amounts lawyers try to get. So keep complaining on these forums and I will continue to laugh at uneducated people's confusion.

Then, they use this claim, which should be a no fault accident, because I was stopped at a red light, to claim that my insurance will go up $1,000.00 a year.
So I've paid insurance all year, and not only was I not covered by my insurance, but I am also being penalized for an accident that was not my fault. You suck horribly. I'm a small business owner and I will let everyone know, how shady this company is. I'll tweet it, Facebook it, and notify clients that come in. $5,400.00 in the hole up front, and $1,000.00 per year for the rest of my life? I'm switching to State Farm tomorrow.

My past experience with Progressive hasn't been the most pleasant, in addition to being charged higher rates than most. I was curious to try them out to see how they conducted business according to their cheapest rates advertising claims. So after trying out Progressive and a couple other similar insurance companies, I ended up switching back to State Farm who I found to be one of a few straight up insurance companies. Let's face it, all large companies are good in diffusing the true facts when it comes to promoting themselves, but some really max out their AD claims to borderline legal.
As a Marketing & Advertising Director myself I can comfortably say that most large companies will tell you what ever you want hear, simply because most people will fall for what ever they do hear. Never assume what something may be just because someone say's so. Always check out different companies and compare service, product and rates before making your decision.

Insurance company is using incorrect credit information. Credit report was pulled and used to raise rates. The information shown says I have no active lines of credit or loans. However, my mortgage is the process of transferring lenders and submitted to the credit bureaus on October 1st. Progressive pulled the credit information on October 7th and the credit bureaus did not have the information updated. I have tried to have Progressive work on correcting the issue and they are unwilling to do anything. I have offered to pull a credit report and have it sent; I have offered to have the mortgage company correct the issue. I was told that if the info was updated at the bureaus that my rate would change. Now I am being told that it will take a minimum of 1 full year. In trying to correct the issue not only they unwilling to help they hang up on me when they are "transferring the call.”

Their service is poor. I brought my car in for repairs on the hydraulic system located in the roof of the car. There were only a couple of bad spots on the car which were located in the driver and passenger side of the car. However after bringing my car home from the first initial rejection, I was finally contacted to take in for the repairs.
Once I picked the car up the second time, there was damage located in the front of the car that was not there initially. I was told they were rock damages, but if you look at the pictures taken from your representatives you will see no rock damage can create that type of damages. The paint is chip to the white around the driver’s headlight. Then the passenger side inside the fender located in the indention is a white line.
I have no respect for anyone telling me that rock damages caused this type of damages. I actually had the car washed prior to bringing it to the establishment. One other thing, if the car was not driven why someone would change the headlights from auto to manual. I did not have this type of damage on my car in the beginning and I will not accept this type of damage to my car. I want my car repaired. I also have pictures and am willing to take the car and get a second opinion. I refuse to accept the explanation to why my car has sustained damages that are unacceptable.

I am a disabled man living on about $1,000.00 per month. Progressive tells me in order to insure my belongings, I have to have a state certified individual appraiser compile a list of my personal property. They must take pictures, look up each item and certify that the items are there in the motor-home. I took pictures looked up each item and gave them a copy but this was turned down. I contacted an appraiser who on her page advertises eBay, and asked how much it would cost to do this. She informed me to do this work and she works with a friend. She gets $175.00 per hour and her friend gets $100.00 per hour. So it would cost $275.00 per hour to have the items like my camera, deck and monitors, appraised to satisfy the requirements of the insurance company. How is it that an insurance company can team up with the state and force poverty? This is out right theft.

We "bundled" with Progressive: two cars, a motor home, and our house. On 9 Aug 11, we had a major storm. The damage to the roof (which was put on brand new in 2010) was extensive to the point that we have had four different estimates--all coming in around $7,000. The house (which was newly painted in April 2011) had significant hail damage and needs to be repainted (according to the Progressive agent who came out), as does our 50" x 55" Morton Building. Plus, the storm broke out a huge skylight in the Morton Building and the heavy rain damaged vintage and antique furniture and items stored in the building.
I wrote down everything that was damaged as I walked around with the agent inside the building. Progressive has sent us a check for a little over $5,000! We will not cash it, and are heading to our lawyer's office. The agent who came to the house obviously did not give the information to Progressive (even though we tried to contact him through phone and email), or Progressive does not want to cover the damages. I wish I would have come to this site first before purchasing through Progressive. We have already cancelled our vehicle insurance with them over this and I would have given them a zero. You really need to put a zero on your choices of rating the overall experience because Progressive does not deserve one star!

I was involved in an accident in June 3011. Mike Lochan, Vijendra Lochan Insurance LLC, broker for Progressive West Insurance (PWI), was called about it. Later I received a call from Progressive West. The automobile was repaired while being investigated as to who was at fault. My car was finished with repairs on July 18, 2011. On July 18, 2011, Mr. Lochan called me three times that evening looking for my wife. The third time, I asked him why. He said that he had an underwriter on the phone. He said that he wanted her to take me off the insurance policy because the premium was going up with me on it. I asked him, “Who are you to tell my wife to take me off the insurance?” He said that I was at fault and the rate would go up. I told him I was not at fault and to send in my photos of proof. He said that was what he was going to do. We had heated words and I hung up the phone. I told my wife. She said that she had talked to him and was backing her husband's decision.
On July 22, 2011, I was contacted by PWI. Everything was good and I was not found at fault. I thought no more about it. On September 7, 2011, I was hit by a driver who went through a stop sign. I called Mike Lochan and he did not answer. I called PWI directly and filed a claim. An hour later, I was called by PWI saying that I was not insured. I told them that it was ridiculous, and that I am insured. They said that I've been taken off the insurance policy by Tanika **.
A half an hour afterwards, I fell out and banged my head on the ground. I was seeing doctors, therapists, physical therapists, psychiatrist, and psychologist behind this incident. I've been investigating this on my own. No lawyer would touch it. Mike Lochan (Vijenda Insurance Company LLC-Millbrae, CA-Progressive Ins. ) purposely took me off the insurance policy behind arguments. I gained access of the documents yesterday from PWI. There is no written signature nor electronic signature of Tanika ** on the documents. PWI took face value, the administering of these documents to them without protocol of the insurance broker that contracts with them.
I need help. I need help now. I want to sue Vijendra Insurace LLC-Millbrae, CA (Mike Lochan) and Progressive West Insurance (PWI) for negligence, fraud, and faulty practices not covering clients' interests, and more for damages occurred, pain and suffering. But they canceled our policy with no notice! They sent us a notice of our rate change on the 10th. We went online to pay on the 12th and there was no policy. So, we called and they said they canceled us on the 7th! When we asked to reinstate the policy, they quoted us just short of double what the renewal quote listed from two days ago, sighting increased claims in our area! We tried to get some sort of assistance on the phone for 2 hours. They told us that we either pay the increased rate, with no reasonable explanation for the increase, or take our business elsewhere. This includes four vehicles, a boat, and a house. I cannot believe how rude the customer service was and the fact that they would cancel us without any notice, refuse to reinstate our policy, and then try to double our rate on a "new" policy.

The star is rated at a one, not to say Progressive deserves a 1 out of 5 rating. They deserve a 0! Our 19 year old daughter had an auto policy with them for 3 years. When she had an accident related to a deer, her car gets towed and police verifies deer accident. They argue the claim and don't even look at the car and won't pay the tow. I later found out they have been deducting from her policy little by little since the day she paid the full premium and mysteriously using the word 'policy change' in their records.
We are lucky no one is dead or injured because they would have gotten out of this. Insurance fraud, breach of contract, illegal use of my credit card (which I only put in the numbers once for my daughter's renewal) are reasons why my daughter goes to cancel the policy. They refunded my credit card and asked my daughter if she is cancelling the life insurance policy which has the the Progressive as beneficiary. I'm at a loss. I asked several questions to make sure that they can handle this situation. The guy on the phone was so in rush to make me buy the insurance!
After a month, I received a letter from state of origin's DMV saying that they need proof of insurance from that state. I called Progressive to ask for help and see why they did not report to state of origin's DMV. Then, I have been told that they will not send the proof of insurance to the state of origin and I should switch to other companies that I used to have contract with because they used to send the proof of insurance for me! They also mentioned that I get refunded fully! I had no choice other than switching back to other company that used to cover me and had sent the proof of insurance to the state of origin. I actually ended up paying 1.5X more to switch back!
Then, I called Progressive to cancel my policy and they reduced almost 1/3 of the money I paid for the problem that they made for me! They could have informed me when I was buying the insurance that I will be in trouble because they won't send the proof of insurance to the state of origin. Also, my license plates may get suspended if they do not provide them with that report! I am totally unsatisfied with them and couldn't get fully refunded. The Progressive agent, Benjamin **, came out to see where the car was taken from. He was polite and told me that it would be found. I called mid-month upon receiving my car statement. I specifically asked if I should pay it as usual. He took my finance company information and said that it was his job to contact my loan holder.
I called again on 8/28 because my car rental was going to end and I wanted to know where the claim stood. I was told that it would be a loss. He was going on a vacation the following week and would start my paper work. Two minutes later, he called and said that my car has been found. When I looked at the car, I was very upset. There was not much body damage but the seats were wet, there were drug residues through out, and the locks didn't work. I didn't have any idea if it would run. I asked how I would know if it was safe. Don't I need someone to inspect it? He said that they were inspecting the car. He also said that he couldn't understand why I was so upset and that I should consider myself lucky. I said, "We can't inspect the car because we are not mechanics."
At that point, my polite interactions with Progressive were done. I was told to figure out where I wanted it taken by the next day. His rude and unprofessional manner made me want to speak to his manager, who has been even worse. The answers given to me were, "That's not my job," "Not my problem," "That's none of your business," and my personal favorite, "What do you want me to do about it?"
They have refused my requests to work with a different agent and I was told no when I asked to speak with a supervisor. Thank God I took my car to my garage for repairs. It has been a battle for them to get things done right and still no check from Progressive. Since they asked for the POA, which we hesitated on filling out, our car was found and the thief was arrested, and he was even convicted and given one year in jail.
Now, our car only needs some work done rather than a total loss. I told my adjuster that I didn't want to sign the POA because it can only hurt my credit and now that they know for a fact that it was a real stolen vehicle, I was hoping to avoid any more damage to my credit, if possible. Progressive's answer to us was that they will drop our claim if we do not send them the signed powers of attorney a.s.a.p. During one phone call, they even told us that if we can get a conviction out of the NYC courts then the credit history wouldn't be necessary.
Well Progressive, you got your conviction, so how about now you do what you promised! I need my car back in perfect condition. It is our only car and we need it to take our son to doctor's appointments, several times a week.

My wife was hit by a Progressive insurance carrier. This is the most run-around of insurance companies that I know of. They replaced her bumper with an aftermarket bumper when we specified O.E.M. They said it was unavailable and was harder to find. I made one call to a dealership and bam, they even had it in stock.
So I let them find one, after mentioning I found one. I didn't mention where (Baker Jackson). This is now the third attempt at fixing this bumper and they are not living up to their agreement nor their expectations.
The employee has been very rude and it seems they are all hard of hearing when it comes to details. The adjuster himself was a complete idiot that would not stop calling my wife after the fact she already sent him an e-mail telling him to stop and contact our lawyer regarding any future discussions. We mentioned it needs to be looked at by a dealership since they cannot get it right and the dealership said in order to properly look at the bumper, it has to be removed and Mike says, "Oh, no we cannot accept responsibility for that."
Good thing we did not take it beforehand or we would be in small claims wasting our time on this. Ridiculous. They even tried to settle the claim the moment we first walked through the door with an embarrassing number to even a tail light break, if she had one.
There is a really good reason they have nice shiny clean cool buildings to work in. Can you say scam artist of the years to come award?

My car was stolen in July 2010. When I reported it to the police, they called me about thirty minutes later just to say that my car was burned and became a traffic hazard. I went to identify my car as if I was going to the morgue to identify the body of a "loved one". Progressive Insurance informed me that they would do all they can to help me. They asked for 2 years of my bank statements, credit reports, taxes and W-2's for the past 5 years, phone records for the past 2 years, and an examination under oath on top of all that. Then they denied my claim saying that I had this done or did it myself. This was my only means of transportation and I had valuable items in my car when it was stolen. They were in the glove compartment, so they couldn't see these items. Why is it that consumers are done like this and have to just deal with the consequences? I would love to hire an attorney, but I lost my job due to all of this. If you can help, I would greatly appreciate it as I don't know what to do at this point.

My car was parked and hit by a Progressive insured and a police report was written. There were no witnesses and the police report didn't say who was completely at fault. Even though Progressive sent someone to appraise my damages, they said they couldn't pay on the claim since their insured would not answer their attempts to contact her.
The Progressive appraiser said that the damages to my car are approximately $380. I have not been able to speak to my Progressive claim person even though I have left numerous voice mails for her. She simply won't return my call to explain the process of what's going on. I spoke with a Progressive representative named Angela today so she could try to handle my complaint. She was the person who told me that they have not been able to contact their insured, Tina, and therefore can't pay the claim. Angela said that they usually will pay after 10 days of not being contacted by the insured but they have chosen to give their insured more than 10 days to contact them. She told me that I should make a claim against my insurance now. This is completely unfair.

They canceled my policy and now I have to re-register my car and obtain a new insurance (The car is off the road for the time being).
They are liars and their customer service is awful. I tried calling several times when this occurred and I got into a loop with every option I tried from getting my bill status to requesting to speak with a customer service representative. Then, I was disconnected. After several attempts for a week, I gave up. I am having my family, who is using Progressive, go elsewhere from this experience. When I say they lie, it's because they quote one price and then change it at the next billing period.
(Note: FYI, I have a clean driving record and am 52 years of age).

The body shop was a terrible referral by Progressive and the in-house Progressive agent at the shop was of no help. Progressive had no follow up in pursuing the neighbor and I was forced to pay my deductible. Once my deductible was paid, everyone disappeared. I'm terminating my policy and I'm disappointed that I stayed with them for so long.

I made it 100% clear with them via phone and email not to contact us unless it is in writing but she continued to call (even today) to tell us that they still are not covering a portion of the claim. Nothing makes sense here. I don't feel very angry but I feel mocked that she continues to ignore my request to not call me and get me upset. My wife, Karen, is the one she continues to call. I received our latest renewal on our homeowner's insurance and they are imposing a price increase because of credit requirements. The home that we are insuring in this terrible current market value is worth $400,000.00 and is paid for in full. Both wife and husband have 800 plus credit beacon scores.
We use mainly only an American Express and pay the balance every month in full. We have no other credit card balances. We have a Visa card and a Target card that are barely used but when we do, the balance is paid in full immediately. We have a credit line that has a 0 balance that has not been used in over twenty years. Progressive is saying that we have too much credit available and therefore, a higher rate for our homeowner insurance is now applied.
They can kiss our perfect credit home paid for business goodbye!

If I could rate this experience as zero I would! My heavily pregnant wife hit a deer about six weeks ago. All was good to start with because we just had the vehicle towed to the repair shop. Then the lies started.
First of all, we were told it would be just a few days until we would be back on the road. Then maybe a couple more days, well a week and a half later, we finally got the truck back. All looked good until we drove it. My wife was dealing with the agent at this point, when he became rude to her, I took over. I was speaking to the agent's boss and he arranged for the truck to go back to the repair. We then got it back after a few days and still the same, and it even got worse, the lights turn off when you put the blinkers on, the battery has loose connectors and we have two horns.
I called to complain and was handed back to the same agent who now says it may not be due to the accident. Well it did not do it before. I finally managed to get it back to the repair shop and spoke to the owner who was very defensive and pretty arrogant at this point. That was the third time and guess what? Still the same problem! I was pretty annoyed at that point so I took the truck back again and asked for a rental as this is not our fault that it had to go back to the shop again. The agent tells me there were not rentals left in town so I called a couple of companies and they said they have plenty. We just got the truck back for the fourth time and it sounds worse than ever.
At this point we are thinking of speaking with a lawyer. We're very disappointed with Progressive!

I had liability insurance on a Mustang with coverage for several years with Progressive. I purchased a 2004 Mazda and added to my policy but had to add full coverage due to the loan I added on May 13. My renewal was on May 23rd. They told me it would be $233.48 then $178.13 after that, for 5 months. No problem. I then sold my Mustang and was able to cancel that liability coverage which gave me a $169.01 credit on policy.
I then had my first monthly payment of $178.13. Everything was going as I was told. Then I got a notice that my next month EFT was going to be $245.75 and $233.00 after that. Of course, I started looking at other companies and found that Nationwide would charge me $135.00 a month, for 6 months. I went ahead and got that coverage and then canceled with Progressive and they refunded a total of $37.29. That meant I paid $620.07 for 63 days of coverage on a policy that I was told would total $1124.13 for two vehicles then subtract the $169.01 for the second that I canceled due to selling$ 955.12.
I went to my local Progressive Office who tried to help me and was very professional. She called Progressive from her office and put me on the phone with them because when she had called to find out about my policy before I got there, even she was confused. I was told on the phone by the representative that I would receive no more refunds because they have a short rate which means, from what I understood, they charge you for the time you had the policy up to after, so they get what they determine they should get for your cancellation. Wow, the fine print that even their Independent Insurance agents aren't aware of.
I'm chalking this up to live and learn but definitely, I would not go back with Progressive.

On July 8th 2011 at approximately 3:20, I was driving down from Hastings, Florida on state road 207, coming from work, when I ran into a large amount of retread debris in the road. As I attempted to avoid the debris, I ran into a larger piece that was unavoidable, which struck the bottom of the front underneath of my vehicle and my front right tire. The debris shot up and out from underneath the right rear of the front right tire. I thought I had blown a tire so I pulled over to check. As I proceeded down the road, I felt the vehicle riding rough, so as I entered East Palatka and up the bridge toward Palatka, the vehicle back fired under the hood several times and as it came within a block from my residence, I had to push the vehicle into my yard.
At around 6:00 or 6:30, I contacted Progressive as informed them that I had run over objects in the road that has rendered my vehicle inoperable and now the vehicle will not start. The Progressive representative stated that just because the vehicle will not start does not constitute an accident claim. I informed the representative that this happened in the scope of the accident and that just because I was not injured does not mean that it did not qualify as an accident, the representative did not acknowledge it as an accident. So I placed the vehicle at Beck Chrysler, Nissan for repairs. I was informed that the timing belt was broken and that the timing belt cover had a crack in it and had to be replaced as well, along with tension control parts for the timing belt. The air vent guard underneath the front of the vehicle needed replacing as well. I explained the accident to the technician and he also stated that this sounded like it should have been listed as an accident and the insurance company should have recognized this as such.
I decided to contact Progressive once again on August 26, 2011 and explain the situation to someone else. At this time, Kristina, the representative, was extremely polite, sympathetic and determined to meet the specifications and commitment of Progressive as she informed me that this was a valid claim and that she did not know why I was misled and asked where the vehicle was located. I informed her that the only thing done correctly was when the vehicle was towed due to road side service and she made sure I was able to receive a renter car due to numerous doctor's appointments which my wife had to keep as it pertains to SSI.
I am having to car pool with someone else since the accident with my vehicle and I have to catch cabs back and forth because my car is being repaired but still in the shop. Jason, the individual who was responsible for the claim, was informed by the technicians that the vehicle was damaged in the accident but for some odd reason he tried to deny having the responsibility to fix the vehicle because he could not find the original call that was made. He stated that they normally record their calls but in this case it was not recorded. Jason contacted me on my cellphone and informed me that they would pay for the air vent guard underneath the front of the vehicle, priced at $432.00 but that I had to talk with the technician to see if the timing belt and cover was involved in the accident in order for it to be covered. Once the technician spoke with Jason and Jason was informed of the cracked timing belt casing, he contacted me once again and stated that the proof was in the pudding and that the claim would be honored. Jason's supervisor, Alex **, decided differently and spoke with Jason; he refused to pay the claim. I had left several calls to his supervisor's number before he decided to call back.
I contacted my lawyer and I was informed that I should speak with Alex' supervisor and inform him of the situation before it has to be legally adhered to. So I decided to go on the internet and file a complaint with Progressive insurance with the attempt of having them mediate and rectify this situation. Jason has acquired the same non-pay attitude that his supervisor has, not wanting to resolve this claim. Jason was informed that I, unlike his predecessor, did record both conversations which he and I had as he stated that he and the technician discussed and come to a conclusion that I had a legitimate claim and that if the claim was accepted and honored when I first contacted them, we would not be having this issue right now. When it's time for me to pay my insurance, I have no complaints at all. I pay what is owed, when it's owed and as a whole, I have high regards for the quality of service that is normally displayed by your establishment and your ability to accomplish all claims in a very timely manner. As much as I hate to, I have had to call about an accident of that magnitude and if the call was taken as seriously as it was reported the first time, I think I would not be hitchhiking a ride to and from the store, as well as to both of my jobs everyday and be with my vehicle, instead of without it.
I am contacting you with the intentions of trying to resolve this matter without anyone having to lose good faith. Jason's supervisor is no certified mechanic and cannot determine the extent of damage such a large part of debris can create just as you and I can't. It appears that he was trying to get the technician to say what he wanted to hear, not what was being honestly relayed to him by the mechanic on what was found, which was the reported damages to the vehicle. How can a person have an accident and part of the damages having nothing to do with the starting up of the vehicle be honored and the damages that rendered the vehicle inoperable. This is being questioned at one point then after the supervisor inserts his opinion, they have not honored anything at all and they have not even contacted me about any final decision to this day. Jason's last word to my wife was that they were still trying to find the unrecorded phone call when they were called initially and this has been at least two weeks since then and since June 8th, I have been without my car. I have spoken to my lawyer and he again reiterated, that I should try to settle this in a rational manner and speak with the complaint department first. This is where we are at this very moment.

I have had my auto covered with Progressive for over three years, and got the Progressive Homeowners Insurance when I bought my house not even a whole year ago. My rate was great, but found that when time came to renew, they wanted to charge me hundreds more than what I was paying...without any notice (after already sending me a notice in July that it would stay the same--payment due in Sept).
I happened to be reviewing my auto policies when I checked in on that and found out. It took them a week to call me back, and when they did, they told me that my "coverage" was increased. I asked them why. I haven't made any claims and nothing had changed from the previous year. She said that they have determined that if my house (bought at $130K--now less than a year later, valued at $115K) was destroyed, they estimated it would cost $216K to rebuild (before this, it was estimated at $166K).
That is ridiculous. That's more than $100K than what my house is even valued at. Needless to say, I'm on a hunt to find new insurance.

I had car trouble on the highway at 6:30 pm. I called Progressive and was told that because I didn't have the exact mile marker, although I knew within 10 miles on a limited access highway, that they couldn't help and that I needed to call 911 instead. After several times on hold, the representative told me they could help after all.
Then after taking all my information, she told me they couldn't help me because I didn't have roadside assistance after all. After several more times on hold, she realized that she had pulled up the wrong account and yes, I did have roadside assistance. She told me that she would get a tow truck sent out and would text me within 5 minutes.
Next, I did not receive a text, but rather, 15 minutes later I got a call from a man who told me that because we were 250 miles from Albany, it would cost me $600+ for the tow. I was actually 42 miles from Albany, so once again, I sat on hold until he was able to figure that out. Also, as it turned out, because I was on a limited access highway, I had to have the transit authority pull me off before Progressive could tow me. The representative told me that I should call with the location to which we were being told, as soon as the tower came, so as to reduce wait time. Although I called Progressive immediately, it was such a horrible phone system that I didn't actually get hold of a live person until we were already at the exit. The tower would have been happy to pull us on into Albany, but Progressive would not authorize this, even if I paid out of pocket and asked for reimbursement.
So next we had to wait for the Progressive tow. When it got there, the tower told us that he couldn't pull our car to the dealership because the dealership was not aware the car was coming. Instead, he would have to pull the car to his shop overnight and to the dealership in the morning. Since our car was loaded with vacation things, luggage etc. and we had no idea where his shop was, this was not an option. In addition, the tow truck driver told us that he couldn't take us with him. He was prepared to leave my husband and me at an exit on the highway, 42 miles from home.
At that point, I sent him packing and took up a brand new membership with AAA who took care of us in excellent fashion.

My husband was looking at his his rear view mirror and saw a truck heading for us. We were hit.
Our truck was totaled. The driver of the semi gave Progressive as the insurer. I recently dropped insurance on my Acura in VA because I was moving to HI but they told me they would give me a small policy until I buy another car in Hawaii, that way there will be no lapse in coverage and I can keep my rate. When I got to Hawaii, I bought a car and notified Progressive that I moved and got another car.
The lady started a NEW policy on me like I was a new customer, therefore my rates went up. I tried to switch to state farm because the rates are cheaper, and I have to show them at least a year of continued coverage with Progressive to get a good rate, and the longer you have been with an insurance company without a lapse, the better the rate. I've been a customer with progressive insurance for years, spending enough in premiums that I could afford to buy two cars. When they raised their prices, I stayed with them even though they weren't the cheapest. I thought that over time, a customer builds loyalty points with a service. The more patronage you give, the more service you receive.
Recently, one of my five vehicles I insurance with progressive insurance caught fire. While driving the van, fire came from under the hood. Pulling over, the fire was put out with a fire extinquisher. This saved the majority of the van, but of course several items under the hood were lost to the fire. The van was towed to a trusted and highly rated mechanic, and a claim was filed for fire damage.
Now, despite the fact that there is no evidence or proof that the fire was caused by electrical components, because the fire was "close" to where the electrical box was, Progressive insurance DENIED the claim. You see, even though I have coverage for fire, they have a loophole in case of electrical problems. At the end of the day, they can choose which they wish to follow. Now, though I spend over $13,000 a year with them for insurance, and the bill for the repairs is $3,500, they decided the most prudent business decision was to deny my claim and leave me holding the bill.
The sad thing is that if we hadn't put the fire out, Progressive Insurance would be buy us a brand new $25,000 van plus everything else lost in the fire. Since we put the fire out, saving them money, they stiffed us and left us out in the cold.

I went back to my mother's house and proceeded to call and make a claim with Progressive with the information their policy holder had given me. I gave them my information and statement about the accident.
I was then called back on Tuesday, 7/5/2011, by Jennifer ** and I again gave them a statement. I was told that they still had not been able to contact the policy holder and had tried numerous times. She did say that at one point, someone did answer the phone but that it was not the policy holder. I explained to her that my sister had been hurt and how would I go about her receiving treatment and she explained that my sister could go to an urgent care facility since it would be cheaper. Once they determined that their policy holder was at fault, then they would reimburse for any medical treatment deemed necessary due to the accident. I was also given a date and time (Friday 7/08/2011@ 10 am) to take my car to a place called Arseen Auto Body in San Jose, California where I live so that they can assess the damage.
My car was assessed by Elizabeth **. She looked over the damage and gave me a damage appraisal, which cost $620.85. She told me I can now find a shop of my choice to do the repairs. Unfortunately, as of that date, they still had not been able to contact the policy holder so they would not be able to issue me a check at that time for repairs, but would be in contact.
On Wednesday, 7/13/2011 at 4:42, while I was at work, I had a missed call from Jennifer. I then proceeded to return her call at 4:46 and Jennifer answered and she explained to me that my claim was going to be closed because of the fact that their policy holder was not at fault.. They said that he told them that he was hit from behind by another car, which resulted to him rear-ending me and that they had proof of damage to prove it. This was a total lie! When that man hit me, he and I proceeded to get off my car and all he said was to pull into the parking lot where it would be safer, which I agreed and did. He got off his truck and appeared to be really agitated with himself and apologized for hitting me and said in his own words, "My foot slipped off the gas." I figured he meant slipped off the brake. My sister asked if we wanted her to call the police and he didn't want them called but I told her to call anyways, which she did. The police asked if there were any serious injuries. She told them ''no'' so they said that we could just exchange information then. I did let Jennifer know when I spoke to her on 7/05/2011 that I had suspected that he may have been drinking but that he wouldn't get close enough to see if I could smell alcohol on him. I asked what was going to happen with my repairs on my car and she told me that I was responsible for them and that I could contact my insurance company and see if they would pay.
This is really ridiculous! It takes them a whole week to get in touch with him and if he had been hit from behind and had damage, why didn't he contact his insurance right away to report it? Now I really think that he was under the influence of something because he was really overly agitated and probably wanted to wait. Had he been tested, he would've probably test positive for whatever!

My son was backed into in a private parking lot. We do not carry full coverage on his vehicle, however our insurance company found the other driver at fault. We have pictures that clearly show that he was backed into as the back bumper of the truck crashed into the right front fender of my son's car. There is no physical way for this to happen other than being backed into and Texas law states that vehicles backing into lanes of traffic have to do so safely - obviously the other driver was not safe.
The agent from Progressive was rude (Angela Holcolmb from Austin) and was trying to twist my son's words around and make him suggest that he couldn't see what was going on. She had him draw three maps of the accident, yet told him to 'drawl' it. In addition, a witness came to us and said that he saw the entire accident and stated that it was definitely the other driver's fault. When I spoke with Miss Holcomb mid week, she said there was one witness...yet, today she said there were two and the stories didn't agree.
It seems to me that a witness conveniently appeared....All in all, another friend of mine said that Progressive was rolling the dice and guessed that because it was a youth driving, (17 years old - no tickets, no wrecks) that he wasn't covered fully. They were taking a gamble that we didn't have full coverage and our company wouldn't go after the in arbitration.

A man stopped to help him but all he could do is follow him home as my son turned onto mine road. The back tire locked up and he tried to brake but it wouldn’t stop. He went through a fence and injured his neck and both hands.
They paid $364 for the fence and became very rude to me and I was the one paying full coverage on that car. They started saying they didn’t believe it was an accident. The adjuster was Zachary **, when I gave him the title, it had a lien against it because I was still paying for it. I have a dispute for my auto. My auto was in an accident on June 13, 2011. I filed a claim with Progressive Insurance. I am not getting proper value for my car value. I have had major work done on my vehicle and I have all receipts. I put in over 4000 of work since June 10, 2010 to March of 2011. I was told by my insurance company, Progressive, that they took a picture of my transmission and stated that it was not a new one, accusing me of lying. I advised the adjuster that the transmission of which was replaced by Waterloo Transmission was a new one, but the adjuster was saying it's old and leaking. Like I said before, I have all my receipts from the transmission shop. Waterloo Transmission can advise that all parts are new.
Now, I have to dispute the claim and I have been talked down to as if I was nothing. It is fine for you to take my money but when comes the time to pay, I guess it is a different story. They offered me $3,800 for my SUV. Add the amount of work that had been done to the car that they will park it out to the junk yard. My transmission was $3,100 dollars and $800 for tires made by Cooper. I also had a brand new axle and wheel bearings. I want the book value for my car, which is going for $7,100, plus rental and out-of-pocket expenses.

I was involved in an accident. It was the other lady's fault. She ran a red light and hit me. It was my wife who went to the hospital with chest pain. I got checked out from hit on my head and my leg hurt. I also had two children with me.
Progressive put my car down as totaled. It's still in the tow lot. I have no place to put it. I have told them this. I have doctor bills, no vehicle. I have to find a way to work 5 days a week. They started a claim and it's been two months and still no rental car, no money to get a car, no bills paid. I'm just having a lot of trouble now. The police report has clearly in it witnesses that saw her run the light and hit me. And, she even changed her story to the police at accident site. And that is in the report Progressive says she has insurance through them. If they were a good insurance company, they would do as they were supposed to, not keep people out of a vehicle and bills piling up. This isn't right at all.

Because I am disputing the amount they have offered me, they discontinued my rental and left me and my daycare business without a vehicle that is safe for the kids to ride in due to the back glass being shattered (but held in place by window tint and could fall out at any given moment).
On Thursday (6/9/11), I received a call an hour after mentioning that I would be getting a lawyer, and was told that they would change the value reduction due to the prior salvage title from 42% to 35% and waive the $500 deductible bringing my new settlement up to $6000. My vehicle is worth $11,600 according to NADA. My husband's bank printed out something stating the value is approximately $11,000-11,500. I have been with Progressive Insurance Company for more than seven years; however, I changed once but went back to them because I felt that it was more comfortable situation for my insurance needs. However, that was not the case at all. I am currently retired, living on disability with a fixed income receiving pay for a particular day of the month, so having my account drafted on a particular day is very important to me.
I have no points on my driving record, and was not aware of their high rates. I am paying more than $900.00 every six months. I was sent letters some are attached with this letter. I explained to the local office that my drafts were being returned because the draft date did not coincide with my or their draft date and I was told by Naomi, that beginning April 2011 my draft date, at my request could change by ten days which would make my draft date near the end of the month which would not have caused returned drafts.
My credit union said that because of so many returned drafts, they would cancel my entire account after more than twenty-five years with State Employees Credit Union, after I spoke with the manager, Steven ** who obviously didn't listen or hear anything I spoke with him about as to why the drafts were being returned, and he even ran me copies of bank statements that involved the returned drafts. Some of my return drafts were the fault of the Credit Union and I plan to address this issue to the proper authorities, because there was a complaint by me to Mr. ** concerning the manager at the Hope Mills Branch which caused a returned draft.
My Mother's name was on my Progressive Insurance about a year or more because of another situation where she was coerced into signing, rather than being the co-signer on a car, and this issue will also be addressed to other authorities. The automobile was repossessed at my request because my mother is eighty-eight years old and has never driven or plan to drive in her lifetime. I addressed this issue to Progressive, but it took over a year to remove her name because the local office said that as long as she is the co-signer, her name would remain on the insurance, and that is when I realized that they didn't hear or listen to me a year earlier when I informed them of the re-possession of the car. Things would be less difficult if people would just listen.
When I called the main office to ask why my draft was not changed, I was told that it would have to be September now because it wasn't done in April as I was told it would be, so I then received a letter stating that I had been over-charged on one of my statements. However, I don't know how much I have been overcharged, I was never given an amount. I received a cancellation notice, because this company hasn't heard or listened to anything I've said to them for more than a year.
Is it fair for me to lose my insurance because of people who should be in positions that they have knowledge of their jobs or one where Senior Citizens, like me, have to be concerned for our welfare because of situations like this should not be necessary in this emotional system?
This letter is the beginning of my many complaints that I haven't been, or had time for this because I chose to care for the elderly after my retirement, and I'm very proud that I did because they seem to be the invisible now. Please address this matter as soon as possible as my insurance is in the process of being cancelled again.

Progressive Insurance is one of the DRPs my shop does repairs for. In fact, we're on the concierge program, which should be illegal. Customers don't realize that when they sign up for the program, they are giving up their right to choose where their car will be repaired, how it will be repaired, and what type of parts will be used.
The adjusters that work at this location are complete morons. They are forcing our shop to repair damage that they recognize as being unrelated to the accident without compensation. The 'rule' they have set for us is, do it or get kicked off the Concierge Program. They are very biased toward a particular local body shop, which happens to be owned by an ex-progressive employee. When our shop is delivering cars, they will make us sit and wait for hours before they even look at our cars and then pick them apart.
While this other shop is being given the royal treatment, taking literally 5-10 minutes for their shop to deliver cars. The adjusters take one walk around this particular shops cars, and gives an okay to the car. They do not inspect at all. A local guy has launched a website, **, hoping to get more people in the collision repair industry to voice their complaints anonymously.
The thing is the people employed by the body shops, are so scared of losing their jobs, that they don't complain. I've joined the site and have voiced some of my concerns. We'll see, maybe it will pick up and individuals like the insurance commissioner, whom I've contacted twice, will actually take notice!
The Progressive Concierge Program is causing a very unfair shift in work flow. The number of redo's they are sending shops (due to unrelated prior damage or just the fact that it's the end of the work day, and they don't feel like delivering a car) is costing shops thousands of dollars. Body techs and paint techs pay has been more than cut in half as a result of this program, as they do not get paid for these unfounded redo's, so they are essentially working several hours a day for free. We now have techs losing their homes and everything they own as a result of the lack of income.

Additionally, the tail gate did not close, right lights did not work, bed of the truck hit the back of the cab of the truck and much more stuff wrong. The only thing Progressive fixed was the rear dint and the paint, anything under the truck they don't think they have to fix and was saying sorry we don't think that was related to the accident. All damage to the truck, they would say, "oh, that was there before." The air ride system never worked. My 180k tires put 200 miles on are now 100% bald but that's my fault as well.
I had to replace all the light bulbs in the truck because there was a crack in the rear light. Progressive saw the damage but told the shop not to fix it. But then, I have proved to them it was related to the accident. So they bought new rear lights, but all the lights that connect to it that blew out was my responsibility. The only thing they took care of is what they could see. To top it all, Progressive said don't fix it on the shop. I had to work around it. I found one of the shops and the guy told me straight out I was gonna fix it but Progressive did not want to pay me to do it. So people don't always blame the shop that fixes it, they have to do what the insurance company says.

I immediately received three estimates for the damages from local body shops and did not file with my insurance company because my rates would go up even though the accident was not my fault. Progressive insisted I bring my vehicle to one of their local claims offices. I brought in my car and their estimate for repair was over $1,000 less than the average cost of repair according to the estimates. I told Progressive that their estimate was too low and did not cover the actual damages, but they refused to listen and sent me a check for that low estimate.
I filed a small claims lawsuit against Progressive for the difference between the check they sent me and the actual cost of repairs according to the estimates. We went to court and Progressive insisted that the driver needs to be in court. I am very unhappy with the "service" I received from Progressive in Pasadena. Cinthia V ******** harassed, intimidated, and bullied me when I was trying to get my car fixed after I was rear-ended by a man who said he "didn't stop soon enough". Although this incident was not my fault and the burden would be on the man's insurance (Auto Club of So Cal), Ms ******** interrogated me for HOURS while I was trying to do my job regarding the extent of my damages. She called repeatedly to harass me - she told me I could handle my claim directly with Auto Club (then why do I have an insurance company? ); she raised her voice and several times implied that there was nothing wrong with me or my car.
My daughter suffered whiplash - for which she was treated and was in pain for several weeks; I had neck and back pain for which I was also treated; so I did not care to dispute whether or not there were "damages" with Ms ********; yet she continued to exclaim that nothing had occurred and that there were no damages and that I could handle my claim myself with Auto Club. She acted like a frustrated attorney-wanna-be and mishandled my claim. From then, the problems continued - until I requested that they transfer my claim to the Irvine Office.
I had to request supervisors and managers in order to have my claim transferred to the Irvine office (I live in Orange County - Irvine specifically). I spoke to a couple of representatives from the Pasadena office who were refusing to transfer my claim to the Irvine office until I was finally able to glean the name of their Regional Manager, Mr. David ********. I sent Mr. ******** a message via email and voicemail and have not heard from him to date; at this point, however, armed with the name of the Regional Manager, they said they would transfer my file to Irvine. I spoke to the manager in Irvine (Dania) and she was extremely helpful. Things seemed like they were going to be alright. My point, however, is that if I had been seriously injured and/or in the hospital, would I still be harassed, intimidated, bullied and told that I could handle my claim directly with Auto Club?? ?
My experience was so stressful and reprehensible yet no one has contacted me to discuss their philosophy at the Pasadena office. Finally, due to an error on the part of Progressive or Auto Club, they paid the car repair in full and sent me a check for the bumper repair. In February, they sent a letter from their subrogation department requesting I return those funds. At this time, I reminded them that they had not yet reimbursed me for the car rental I required while the vehicle was at the shop. Again, no response to my request from Progressive -this time from their Subrogation Department - regarding my rental expense of $346. So, I returned the overpayment minus my car rental expense and sent the check via Fed Ex.
I received a harassing call today from Catherine from the subrogation department - I told her I had been working with JD and would like to speak with him and was told that JD was not available and to let her know NOW what I had sent in the mail; I explained that I sent a check Fed Ex and there was a delay since I wanted to know what they were doing about my car rental expense and she repeated..."again...what did you mail"....over an over she would say this. She was very rude as well - condescending and disrespectful. I have been a Progressive customer for 4 years and have never filed a claim; filed a claim for which I was not my fault and was treated worse than a criminal. Then, they make a mistake in their accounting of payments for repairs and they are yelling at me.

I had a 3003 Dodge Ram 4x4 diesel with approximately $20,000 of aftermarket equipment installed. I have owned the truck since 2005. Just the past year, I have spent approximately $10,000 on maintenance; more specific, tires $1,800 and new bulletproof aftermarket transmission $5,000, etc. I loved my truck to death! It was my baby. My truck had been stolen three times. First time, they stole the wheels, stereo, etc. Probably a $4,000 loss (no comprehensive on truck, my mistake). The second time, they just took my personal items, the whole truck was intact. Simply a "joy ride" situation and was found the next day. The second time, I reported the truck to my insurance company but did not make a claim. Progressive still had the theft on my record, although they never paid any money out which kind of annoyed me. They didn't raise my rates, which I thought was good.
The third time was devastating. This time, they stripped the entire truck! They took $3,000 wheels and tires interior, stereo equipment and other parts that were not covered under insurance. Probably, $7,000 worth of accessories. This part was annoying. Basically, since insurance didn't pay for these items, I was out again even with comp coverage; not to mention the $5,000 transmission that was still in the truck! At first, I was very discouraged reading all the horror stories of insurance fraud investigators: Stopped payment checks on repairs, denial of claims, etc. I dealt with a lady name Taunya **, who works for Progressive as a Fire Theft Insurance Person. At first, I was frustrated due to the length of time she told me it would take. They requested phone records, interviews, financial statements, etc. I thought, all of this was kind of awkward, but delivered what they asked for without hesitation. I talked to people and they explained she was just doing her job, which I understood.
After doing research online, I came to find out there are people out there being arrested for stealing their own cars, setting them on fire, staging accidents, etc. that cost them millions of dollars! When it was all said and done, they declared that the truck is a total loss and even offered to sell me the truck with a salvage title. It was very tempting to buy the truck back, especially with the $5000 tranny still in it. They wanted too much for the truck for me to be able to put it back together. They paid me via check for the total loss, which I thought was a very generous amount. I will continue to use Progressive and was satisfied overall with the process. Taunya was very professional and timely with communications, and more than fair with the total loss. People have to realize that they are just doing there job and have a regimen that they have to follow in order to keep our rates reasonable. Just be patient and comply with what they ask for. I miss my truck everyday, but after losing so much money on accessories, I don't think I will own such a flashy vehicle that is so attractive to thieves. When I do purchase a new truck, I will make sure my aftermarket parts are insured.

The person in charge of my case in my insurance company, Progressive, was reluctant to collect the information. Loraine was very reluctant to receive a diagram explaining the accident scene by fax. I asked her fax number and she told me a clear lie at that time that her fax was connected electronically so it would take more than two days to receive it. And she did not tell me her fax number. And she decided already it was 100 % my fault at that time.
I had to contact the claim grievance department of Progressive and I required Korean translator even though I could speak English. The first thing that I begged to the Korean translator was to tell me the fax number so that I could send the diagram. Some days later. I received a phone call from Loraine that finally it was decided and it was still my 100 % fault. I just listened and hung up the phone. But the next day, I received a phone call from an independent researcher of the accident. He asked me to make an appointment to take pictures of my accident car the next day. I found that Loraine had made a decision already before the investigation of the accident was still going on. So I called Loraine's supervisor Anthony *** to explain this awkward situation. He spend more than one day to investigate internally. He told me he would review the telephone record. And I asked him why his employee had been so strange and contacting the client. He told me he didn't know the reason. He apologized but he could not change the decision. He accepted his company's mistakes but the decision can not be overruled. He hinted the decision should be made according to the cost of decision not by the truth. I explained about the procedural defects and my rights but it was all in vain. So I am trying to contact his supervisor in Progressive. What I realized in this situation is that this company does not care about the client's right or benefit at all. Their concern is only their profit. They just want quick solution to save their cost. My son and his girlfriend were involved in a hit-and-run car incident by a driver of someone insured by Progressive Auto Insurance. They were smart enough to get the license plates from the vehicle, as it fled the scene. The Chesterfield police were called, and a report was taken. The kids could identify him, because he initially got out of his car and told them to pull over to the side and he would pull over too. That is when he fled the scene.
The kids were shook up and were already complaining of headaches. They went to the Emergency Room and had x-rays along with CAT scans. Both were ordered by the doctor to stay home several days and were on pain meds. Ironically, the days after the accident, the pain impacted them significantly. Both were miserable.
We expected that when the hit-and-run driver was found, his insurance (Progressive) would cover the cost of the hospital bills and (hopefully) lost work also.I attempted to speak to someone in claims several times. After several calls and hours of research, I found the agent and made four attempts to call. His voice mail was full due to vacation. I called the Progressive claims number and was repeatedly told he was the only one who could help me. Once I was able to leave a message, I did, and he returned my call just to tell me the things he needed before offering a settlement. I told him we just wanted reimbursement for the hospital visit and missed days at work. He said he needed to have proof that the kids' insurance did not cover the accident and that if it did, how much it covered.
I sent him copies of the hospital bills, and he returned my calls, saying he needed more than bills--he needed reports to see if they were willing to pay the Emergency Room visit. The agent stated that my kids have to sign a release for all medical records and reports in order for them to check the validity and to check for any previous head or neck trauma. I've been going back and forth for a year now. The kids do not have health insurance that covered the accident. And now, I have a multitude of late fees and fines.
I thought the insurance company was supposed to take care of this. All I wanted was to get the money to pay the hospital and their missed work. At this point, I am so angry. If someone would please help me or tell me what I can do, I would be deeply appreciative. One more thing, I also sent a complaint email to their general claims complaint line. But I have been told they needed more information too: the insured's policy number, etc., etc. I'm ready to get my kids everything they are entitled to at this point--anything, pain, suffering, etc.

Progressive's response when I told them all of this was that they had previously estimated their costs in MA incorrectly and had to raise premiums accordingly. I responded that the repair costs for Safety Insurance, my new insurer, would certainly be the same in my state as Progressive's costs.

My daughter was rear ended by a policy holder of Progressive insurance on 10/28/10. The City of Fairfax Police issued the at-fault driver a citation as well. On the same day, I contacted my insurance company, State Farm, and reported the accident. State Farm instructed me to file a claim directly with Progressive, which I did. Claim #101643987. Approximately one week later, their adjuster came out and assessed the vehicle (a 1998, V70 Volvo station wagon) and gave an estimate of $6,990.54 to repair our auto. They also declared the vehicle totaled and provided a value valuation report with a Market Value of $2431.10 and had attached comparable vehicles as comps. The comps provided were, in my opinion extremely misleading and grossly inaccurate as I took the time to call each one and ask very basic questions with regard to the condition of their vehicle for sale. Here's what I found:
Auto 2 - Car had 2 owners and in was in an accident on Sept. 18, 2008.
Auto 3 - Does not exist in Auto Trader. Additionally this comp is in the Annapolis Md. area and not metro Fairfax VA.
Auto 4 in WVA - long way from Metro Fairfax and not comparable to what one would expect to pay in my area and when I called the person explained that the car had a bad turbo and was smoking.
On top of these ridiculously low comps, Progressive arbitrarily assigned a made up discount labeled "Projected Sold Adjustment" ranging from $160.48 to $668.19 making their payout completely unrealistic. When I questioned them with regard to the quality of these comps, there reply was: Scott, these are the closest comps we could find to your vehicle. If you can locate a 1998 Base Model vehicle showing the alloy/3rd seat option then you can certainly submit that for review.
In my observation Progressive is intentionally providing misleading information to me with the anticipation of not providing me with a fair and accurate replacement value as NADA rates this vehicle at $4,525 to $5,975. My Volvo was a one-owner vehicle with all the scheduled maintenance performed (have documentation) and no accidents. Again Progressive provided me with completely misleading comps that were nowhere near the condition of our vehicle. They also did not take into consideration the DMV costs of transferring, registering and paying sales tax on a new car. In my opinion, Progressive has misrepresented the actual cash value of the vehicle before the accident.
Additionally we are now into week two without a car and having to incur extra expenses for driving arrangements for our family. Not to mention the emotional distress their client put on my 17-year-old daughter when he recklessly plow into the back of our car. Therefore I would ask that Progressive reimburse me for the average NADA fair market value at a cost of $5,250. Or they can repair my existing car.

I have been a body shop owner and manager (two years as an adjuster) for 18 years. I deal with major insurance companies every day. If your car has been involved in an accident, please take time to be your own adjuster first. Remember. You are the owner of the vehicle. If an insurance company demands that you have your car repaired at a shop they recommend (DRP Shop) and pretends they can force you, remind them that federal and most state laws prohibit insurance company steering.
They can only make a recommendation, not a demand. Anytime you take your car to an insurance company preferred body shop, there are a few things you should do first: (1) Ask if they have a written warranty for the workmanship. (2) Demand that you are contacted once the estimate is complete so that you can see the damages listed. (3) Demand genuine original manufacturer replacement parts (unless otherwise noted in your policy). (4) Once you have a copy of the estimate, take it and your photos to other shops and get a time quota. Again, you own the vehicle. Do not sign a repair order until you are satisfied with the repair details.

They raised my rates by $45 every 6 months in a 3-year period. I spoke to 2 people, they said it was a state thing and there was nothing they could do about it. The state of Minneapolis told me in so many words that Progressive were liars and losers!

My spouse and I were out of town when our vehicle was stolen and set on fire! We were not contacted about the incident until the following day. It has now been 3 months and I am still awaiting settlement of my claim. The most recent events are that we are to go to a deposition, to tell them, yet again! We did not do this! Nor did we facilitate it. We hate feeling like we are paying insurance to be investigated. I really hate how violated having a possession stolen can be, now our insurance is behaving like it's our fault. Honestly, I almost feel powerless, like there is nothing we can do to expedite this. I have signed over all my rights to the vehicle, yet I am still making all my scheduled payments. What the heck can I do?! Nothing, that's what! I just have to hope the judicial system works in my favor.

I just changed my homeowners insurance to Progressive "Homesite Insurance Company" in September 2010 after receiving a very good quote. Now October 2010, my bank receives a letter that the company is canceling my homeowners insurance. I called Homesite and they said it is because I need to replace the rotten shingles on my roof. OMG I have a slate roof in excellent condition. I told the woman that slate doesn't rot. She said, “Well, it is really dark in spots, are you sure it is slate?” “Yes, I am sure I have it inspected and repaired as needed.” I asked her, “Do you want me to clean it?” She checked with her supervisor and came back and said, “No, you need to replace the rotten shingles and then we will come out and inspect to rewrite the policy.” She still couldn't tell me which "shingles were rotten. I guess she just doesn't know that slate doesn't rot! I think it is a bait and switch deal and they want to raise the premium.

On May 30th 2009, my 2003 Ford Windstar was stolen out of a TJ Max parking lot. I called the Mecklenburg county police department and then notified Progressive Insurance. While going through the initial questioning, I was sent some paperwork that my husband and I had to have notarized and after which the nightmare started.
They had a special investigator question us, check phone records, financial statements, and even interviewed family members outside our household. We answered everything to the best of our knowledge only to find out our claim was denied 8 weeks later based on credit and the key having a transponder. We were devastated. Although we were financially challenged, we never missed a payment nor were we ever late on our policy.
Not knowing how to move forward with legal representation, we continued to pay the car note even though we no longer had the vehicle. 16 months later, we received a call from the bank that a dealership (Planet Suzuki) was trying to get them to release the title. They immediately called us and without hesitation, my husband called the police and went to retrieve the van.
When the office arrived, he ask for the owner who's name is Hemi, how do you sell a vehicle with no paperwork and he stated he had the papers for my van. When asked to produce them he said that is a 2002 ford Windstar knowing it was a 2003. This person was nervous and repeatedly insisted I could take the vehicle in hopes that this was the end of this matter. He then gave us the key and was still nervous and continue to say "everything is alright now right." The officer asked him how long did you have this vehicle and he replied " 4 months" but the person we spoke with at the bank said the lady said 8 months. After providing progressive with this information they came back out and took photos of the vehicle which had damage to it. They also took photos of the keys and made comparisons. They took oil and transmission oil samples and 6 weeks gone by and they denied our claim again. Based on their original reason or denial.

Basically they cancelled my insurance on me and never sent me or the lien-holder of my automobile any kind of paperwork declaring said cancellation. And when I got into an accident roughly 2 weeks ago I was basically told you have no coverage and we don't know why you never received any paperwork about your cancellation of policy but it’s not our fault.

My wife was involved in an accident in which an elderly lady insisted she had the right of way to the point of driving up on a lawn and attempting to pass. She side swiped the car my wife was in and stopped her car on the lawn. She left the scene of the accident and went directly to the house on whose lawn she was parked, She immediately called Progressive to file a claim, at which point they told her that she had the right of way. There was no investigation and they simply took her word for what happened. The claim was processed in her favor immediately. The time of the accident and the time of her call to Progressive were identical. Mr. *** stated that he took the word of the first person who called as their statement would be "the freshest."
My wife was fully in her lane and the lady simply refused to be cut off in that manner. She was not struck by my wife's car and she could and should have avoided the accident instead of driving around on the wrong side on someone's lawn. The result is Progressive added their own additional charges to my policy and there was never any notice of surcharges sent to me. As a result of what they said is a major fault on my wife's part. Without the ability to appeal a surcharge, Progressive simply went ahead and increased my premium. Also, they add everyone to the same cars even though no one else can drive one of my cars, which is the most expensive one. It's also a standard shift which I am the only one who can drive it.
As a result. my car has damage to it and Progressive only paid me $77 for over $1200 in damages and charged me the $500 deductible as well. The older lady got immediate attention and her car was repaired at a cost of over $3,000, even though she caused the accident as well as leaving the scene to call the insurance company first. Progressive denies what Jim *** must have said. If anyone was to look at the times, they would see that it's impossible to be at a scene of an accident and be talking from a phone from a private residence.

I was in a accident where I was backing out of a handicapped parking space. The other car was not looking and backed into the left back part of my SUV bending the bumper. He jumped out and said, "I am so sorry, I will give you what you want." I asked if he had insurance and was told he had Progressive Auto Insurance. I took his information and called Progressive. They admitted to the accident. I took my SUV in to Pression Auto Body.
Progressive rented me another SUV after I told them I had just had a total right hip replacement. They put me in a Kia SUV which was too low. I contacted both them and the car rental place and told them that the SUV was to low. They then put me in a Expedition which was too high.
I told them and nothing was done. Finally, I was contacted by an agent from Progressive after 1 week to talk about my bodily injury. Before they knew the extent of my injury, they offered me $900.00 and said that was all they could do. I told them I wanted to go and see my hip surgeon to make sure that nothing was wrong with my hip. I was told by my doctor that I would have to pay up front in order to see him. I explained this to Progressive and was told they could get me in without me having to pay for the visit.
They were wrong I had to pay up front! I seen the doctor and was told my hip is still in place but the pain and soreness that I am feeling is due to the accident, my sitting too low and climbing to high in the rental trucks. Progressive got the doctors report and says that since there was no great injury, they would give me $1,500 for my trouble.
It is not about the money it is about the insulting gestures and comments made to me by Progressive agents. I still have yet to hear from them about my truck which is sitting to one side. I was told that I needed to get the truck realigned. Progressive, I am praying for your agents because anytime you speak to a potential client the way your agents have spoken and done me. You need much prayer!

My car was involved in an accident. It was not my fault. Progressive, the other person’s insurance, totaled the car. They sent a check for the cash value of the car which I was not happy with, so I took them to court. I lost. So, Progressive went and stopped payment on the check already sent by them.

My son was hit by a drunk driver insured by Progressive. The driver was driving a 2009 Jaguar and his car failed to yield right of way and hit a Mustang and then my son's car. My son's WRX, which he had for two months, was totaled.
Progressive will not even offer half of what it will take to buy a comparable car and they refused to deal with anyone other than my son thinking they will chew him down. My son needs a car to get to work. Progressive refuses to provide a rental. Short of a lawsuit, I don't know what else to do. This is why lawyers get rich. Progressive will not return calls promptly and refuses to allow my son to talk to a manager. We have talked to our insurance agent who is trying to get them to budge, but it would seem to me seeing that their client was drunk and arrested that the fault lies solely with their client and they should pay to replace the car.
