On July 16, 2012, I woke up to my car being broken into and vandalized. I called Progressive to file a claim and on July 19, 2012. They sent an inspector to my job to inspect my car. I showed the inspector the point of entry as well as the damages the thieves made to my car. The inspector told me it would take an hour and I could go back inside to work. A whole three hours later, I went out to check on the inspector to find him sitting in his truck. When he got out, he told me some of my property would not be covered since it wasn't attached to the vehicle. I understood that as I read my policy thoroughly. He then told me my car was totaled! As an insurance agent myself, I have never heard of a comprehensive claim ending as a total loss. It was at that time that I asked what my options were and was told I could get another estimate and make a decision as to what I wanted to do. I was not given a copy of the estimate nor did the inspector say I had to agree with his inspection. Because I knew my car was not a total loss, I got an estimate from a reputable Chevy collision shop, which had the opportunity to inspect the same damage as the Progressive inspector and was told it would cost less than half of what the Progressive inspector stated and my car is not a total loss.

I then contacted my claims adjustor and after going over the options (neither of which included me having the opportunity to buy my car back), I told her that I wanted to withdraw my claim. She told me she could not do that until she talked to my lienholder. I informed her that I had already talked to my lienholder and made a decision to withdraw the claim. Again, she refused saying I had no right at this point to withdraw the claim. I was then able to view the Progressive inspector’s estimate online, and determined he included normal wear and tear, pre-existing damage as well as items that had no damage at all. After filing a formal complaint with TDI as well as Progressive claims grievance and my agent, I was under the assumption the claim would be withdrawn. On July 20, 2012, I received an email from my adjustor stating she was going to proceed with declaring my vehicle a total loss the reason being that I had to use Chevy parts (which according to my statutory rights 1952.301), says I have the right to pick my repair shop and could use part comparable to Chevy parts.

In response, I told her to withdraw the claim that I would repair my own vehicle as the estimate from Chevy only exceeded my deductible by $116. Again, she said she would not withdraw my claim. During this time, my lienholder was notified and an offer made after I told the adjustor several times to close my claim. Now my lienholder, because they have a financial stake in my vehicle, is demanding I surrender my car going by the fraudulent estimate the Progressive inspector submitted. I then contacted the claims center to find out who the claims adjustor's supervisor was, only to be lied to. When trying to contact someone that was over the claims department, I was stonewalled until one claims representative had the decency to connect me with their consumer complaints department for claims service and was given all the information I needed. The sad thing is the claims adjustor’s superiors agreed with her errors, judgment and outright lies to cover the fact that she broke several laws in regards to this joke they call a claims service.

On July 26, 2011, I finally spoke with the regional manager who informed me that my claim had been closed; however, their records would indicate that my car is a total loss, however there is no money paid out. He also admitted that the claims adjustor had made some errors and he would address that. I would be satisfied, however, if he can admit that some errors were made. How can he in good conscience not admit that the whole process including that fraudulent estimate was a mistake? I have sent information to my lienholder in an effort retain my vehicle and am feeling pretty good about it since I still owe money. My concern is if I felt bullied, lied to, intimidated and almost forced to give up my vehicle, how many other people without insurance knowledge have fallen victim to their tactics? Why would they rather pay thousands of dollars to settle a claim instead of nothing since the actual damage did not exceed my deductible but by $200? These practices need to be addressed or we as consumers will continue to be victims to false advertisement and shady business practices.

I've been with Progressive for about 6 years. The only thing I've used them for was when I've locked my key in the car. So with all the floods in Houston, my car got flooded on the way to work. I crept and crawled to the car shop in all the rain. I then called Progressive after I was recommended to call my insurance company. The car was in the shop for a day getting fixed. I filed the claim, the lady told me someone will call. By that time my car was fixed, I now have a $1,100 bill. So, they asked me to fax the bill to them so they can look at the repairs. Well, I just got a call back from the insurance adjuster who stated, "Progressive isn't going to pay because the car is already fixed and the car shop doesn't have the old parts so they can prove the damage was actually flood-water related."

This is the most ** I've ever heard. Seeing as anyone who looks at the news/current events should know Houston was getting a lot of rain and there were flooded streets everywhere. I might as well not get insurance, extended warranties, etc. We as consumers pay all this money per year to these companies and then when it's time for them to pay us back, they come up with all kinds of excuses. I'm going to fight this one though!

I just received my auto insurance renewal from Progressive. I've been a loyal, model customer for 3 years. This renewal had a 6-month policy increase of $180.00! I've had no tickets, no accidents, no claims, nothing! Their excuse for raising my rates? My credit does not meet their criteria. What **! Well guess what Progressive, kiss my loyal **! I've cancelled you and changed to Esurance. I'm only saving $20 a month, but it's better than paying you for a ** reason! My credit has been the same since I started with your company. I was first contacted by a Progressive Insurance agent about switching car insurance. I refused because I have been with another company for 5 years and was rather satisfied. He insisted and gave me a quote that was substantially lower than my previous insurance carrier. I agreed to switch based on the quote, but soon after I received an increase in the quote with no reasonable explanation. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they agreed to honor the original quote.

Six months later, I received a new quote for our insurance renewal and this one takes the cake. They have increased the premium twice the amount of the original quote. My premium went from $595 to almost $1200 because my brother hit a stop sign. Granted this was an accident, I have had five years of safe driving and three years of being accident-free. This does not justify the outrageous and arbitrary price increase.

Progressive is using despicable business practices to lure customers and then they jack up the prices. I had no reason to leave my former insurance carrier if the Progressive agent did not mislead me. The company endorses these disgraceful and unethical practices. It is one thing to increase profits; it is another to use unethical practices to profit from unsuspecting customers. It is a real shame what this company is doing.

I had boat insurance with Progressive for 6 years - no claims, no issues. I bought a new boat and updated my policy. I thought I paid for the next year. I went to process a claim from a minor accident. I was unknowingly 11 days past due on my policy. They chose not to honor my claim. The claim was minor, but if this is how they deal with a minor issue, wait until you have a big problem. Don't find out, find another insurance company. They suck.

I hope nobody else ever has to deal with claims against someone insured by Progressive. On July 12, I was involved in an accident with a person insured by Progressive. She pulled out of a side street and wiped out the left side of my pickup. Since that time, I have had the unfortunate experience of trying to deal with Progressive's claims representative. I say "trying" because the person assigned my claim only works Wednesday through half a day Friday. Backup claims reps tell me that they can't help me because the primary person is in charge. What a crock! Meanwhile, I'm without a vehicle, losing time and money and spending my days leaving voice mails that never get returned. I guess my lawyer will be the next person I call.

When they first began advertising their new "Snapshot" program where you plug the thing into your car to track your driving activities, I thought that was "Big Brother" enough! The chick with the red lipstick is so creepy, and they act like an insurance Nazis in their commercials. Now, the new commercial comes out where the red lipstick chick is on all the TV's everywhere commanding everyone what to do, and no one can get away from her, no matter that they are trying to change the channel. Total control freaks! I would love to know how much of Progressive customers money is being spent on their ridiculous commercials! Scary company!

A friend of mine left me a power of attorney on his vehicle for the six months he was deployed. He left before I started driving the truck, so when I couldn't find any insurance cards inside, I assumed it was uninsured. I called Progressive and started a policy on the vehicle. When he got back, I explained the situation to him and it turned out he had Progressive insurance on the vehicle the whole time. So, I was kind of unhappy that I just paid $500 for no reason so I called Progressive and they sent me a check for all I had paid while the vehicle was double insured. Not bad at all.

Am I a criminal for buying another car? I bought a car, and had an accident that following day. I haven’t had an at fault accident with the company for over 5 years that I have been with them. They are forcing me to provide my cellphone bills, pictures of the car I only had for 1 day that proves that the car was not wrecked already when I got it. They are making me feel like a criminal and I'm the one that’s out here! I have a new, wrecked car! Joy-Joy! Let’s put it to them here and ask them to do what I pay them for years! Fix my accident please, that is what insurance is, right? Otherwise, who would need an insurance company?

I'm not happy, regardless of whether or not they pay to fix my auto. Sad company, I see how they are rated at the top regarding finances. They pinch every penny, and don't care how they treat the consumer in the process. Good luck keeping people. I have recommended this company to several folks. Needless to say, I don't have anything good to say any longer. How sad.

Forget the loyalty. My rates have continuously increased the last 3 years a few dollars a month and then jumped $12 monthly this last renewal period. I have all the discounts: 5-plus years with the same company/insurance, multi-car, and no accidents/tickets for the last 5-plus years; same cars (all old; newest was a 2001 model) and same driver and usage; I have anti-theft on 2 cars, have electronic monthly payment from checking account and paperless billing, etc. So when I called to find out why my premium had increased, the reason given was that my credit score had gone done a little.

I have never been late on anything and they are raising my rates based not on my driving record (perfect) or on vehicles (old) or on claims (none), but on something not related at all to my ability to function as a safe, loyal driver. Because I bought a house in 2009 and have 3 credit cards (Kohl’s, Home Depot, Chase), I am being punished by Progressive for using credit I am qualified for and pay off quite regularly. So Progressive's thinking is: if the client is stretched out a little in credit, let’s charge them more so the hole can get deeper - do not reward them for being the perfect customer.

Don't be fooled by Progressive Insurance commercials. This is the worst company to deal with. My car was involved in two-car crash, in which it was obvious the other driver was at fault and was insured by Progressive. There was no injury on my side, and less than $5,000 damage. The Progressive Insurance immediately began to make calls to all involved, witnesses, etc, not to find truth, but to get them off the hook. Progressive then stalled, no communication, and then denial. They really are counting on having to be sued and know, to take an insurance company to court is very difficult, time-consuming and likely they will outspend and wear down the opposing side, who they hope will simply give up. Now, Progressive would be a very good company to have when you are at fault because they fight for you and make the other driver at fault. So, if you are a bad driver, I would suggest you buy Progressive.

Don’t be fooled by their commercials! This insurance sucks! I had a small accident on 5/3/12 driving on a curvy road. A turkey went in front of me, it was pouring and well, I hydroplaned across the street getting myself in to a lot of trees and rocks. So, I called Progressive and explained everything. The lady I spoke to was very nice and professional, all though I said to her "I am on the side of the road, my car is stuck, it’s raining and I need a tow!” Ten minutes went by, 20, 30, 45! Really?

So, I called a local body shop to see what they could do for me. I explained the situation, so the body shop sent a tow truck and they took care of the rental! I got on my rental, called Progressive and I asked, "Why didn’t you send me a tow?" Their response, "Oh sir I’m sorry, we don’t have any request for a tow truck. We don’t have any information about your accident!" They asked, "Do you need a rental?" "Me," No thank you, the body shop took care of it!

The second crap they pulled; they did not show up for more than 12 days to appraise my car! The third crap, they sent a very inexperienced appraiser that made my car stay at the body shop for more than 50 days! So my 30 days rental was done! Thanks to the body shop! They took care of the rental after that. First, they said your car will be fixed! Oh no, it’s going to be totaled, oh wait, we are going to fix it! You guys are a bunch of idiots! Please save your money or better yet, spend a little more on a better insurance than this crap! I’m done with them.

In January 2012, I called in to cancel my policy because I had gotten a different vehicle. Recently, I noticed a recurring charge of $88. I thought this was for my student loan payments. Apparently, my policy was not cancelled. Progressive's response is that because I changed vehicles, my vehicle was not doubly covered; therefore, they would not be issuing me a refund (which should total $440). If I had sent them paper checks, my policy would have been cancelled when I had stopped sending payments. Since they were free to remove the money from my account, they could take it as long as there was money available.

I hit a deer on Memorial Day last May 28th, 2012 at 3:30 am in Vinita, Oklahoma, which is 300 miles from home. I called my insurance after the accident and I gave them our location to send a tow truck. They said we were on a tollway and they couldn't send a tow truck. I then put the officer who helped us on the phone and he told them they could come get my car. My fiance and I were stranded all day due to the holiday. We had to stay in a hotel until Tuesday when Enterprise was open.

I returned home Tuesday night. On Wednesday, I get a call from the Progressive insurance and they told me my car was totaled - about $4,300 in damage. I checked the value of my car via Kelley Blue Book and it was worth $4,700. Progressive then told me they went by some other form of valuing vehicles. Progressive told me my car was only worth $3,200 if I wanted to keep the car and they would give me $3,971 if they let me total the car. If I didn't let them total it, they would brand the title. I told them that is not right.

I have been a member with them since 2007. I'm a diamond level member with them and I wanted them to treat me fairly and to do everything possible to save my car. I even asked if I could pay the difference out of my pocket and they said no. What kind of insurance company says "no" to their valued customers? I told them I wanted to think about what I'm going to do. On Thursday, I thought about what to do.

Then, on Friday morning, at 8:30 am, my phone rings and it was the Progressive agent handling my claim. She told me, "We could have had you return the rental yesterday although we're going to only cover it until Monday." I asked, "What do I get around in after Monday?" The answer I got was appalling, "That's not our problem!"

So I went to their office on Friday to talk to a supervisor. They told me I have to call the agent that was handling my case. I went into a meeting room and called her. I really didn't want to talk to her and I asked to talk to her supervisor. She then transferred me. I talked with the supervisor for 2 hours. I told her that I have been dealing with a very rude lady that is handling my claim and I have been a member with them since 2007. This is not the way they should treat customers. I told her what I wanted for my car. She said she couldn't do anything to help me.

When I asked about my diamond level status, she told me that the diamond is one free accident that will not affect my driving record. I felt as though Progressive is doing so much wrong that I told her, "The right thing to do is to fix my car and assure me that everything is going to be okay--not to tell me that your car is totaled and be lucky we're letting you keep the rental car until Monday." She said, "I'm sorry. I can extend the rental only until Wednesday."

I told her that the right thing for me to do right now is to take car of the rental as though it was my own car. The wrong thing to do is to get in the rental, pick a target and see how much damage I could do. Pay the $500 deductible, let Progressive insurance deal with a $20,000-plus accident. Then, the next day, cancel my policy with them - never touching my driving record due to my diamond level status.

She then punches some numbers and gives a check for $4,417, which is more than what it would have cost to fix the car in the first place - $4,300. I wish I could put a picture up of my car for everyone to see. I asked the Progressive lady if she could have them gather all my belongings out of the car and send them to me - paperwork, shades, CD, seat covers, steering wheel cover, loss change, all keys, and everything that wasn't out of the factory. She said yes.

It is now June 22. I got the package that is supposed to have all of my personal belongings from my car in it. All that was in it was my seat covers and a mechanics rag. Now, I'm having to try to locate my personal belongings again. I was going to add my fiance to my policy as soon as we got back from vacation. After the way she saw them treat me, she wanted nothing to do with Progressive.

As soon as I got a new car, I canceled my insurance polices with them and switched to a better provider. I'm in the service industry and after the way your company treated me, I'll never have anything nice to say. Progressive will not only lose two customers for life, but many more. In my field of work, the customer is the most valuable asset. Without them, you can't pay your bills and put food on your dinning room table. If you took the time to read my story, I want to thank you.

It's clear that this company does not care about service, only to sell policies and not follow through on their commitments. They also screwed over the repair facility we took the trailer to. I always thought those commercials were funny and appealing, but after this incident I will never ever choose Progressive. First it was the non-stop calls to my sister who was in so much pain from the accident. Sure, she weighs under 100 pounds and was hit from behind. The car didn’t have too much damage, but her body did. Progressive kept calling her literally every day. On top of that, the lady wanted to meet up with my sister face to face. Who has time to do this sort of thing? And why is it important to do that anyway? It started to feel stalkerish with the calls and wanting to meet up.

People have lives and have to work and my sister was in pain and it made it difficult to work. Long story short, Progressive is now saying that they may not pay for my sister's medical bills because she chose not to meet with them. Even with valid medical notes from the doctor or PT, they said they may have reason to refuse payment. So while our good State Farm Insurance paid, Progressive is trying to find ways to chicken out of paying for the sole reason they gave her - which was because she didn’t meet face to face with them. This is ridiculous!

The car went in for minor front end repair from an accident - 2009 VW Jetta Wolfsburg. It came back with the hood and lights all wrong. The hood seemed too long/hooded over the headlights. It appears that they used non-OEM, perhaps used/refurbished parts. It doesn't look right. Worse, the shop they chose apparently can't properly recode a car after taking the battery out either. The stereo doesn't work now, which was working when I dropped it off, but of course, the stereo is now not working as soon as I picked it up. It is all just a big coincidence. What a crock.

Please, whatever you do, do not take your vehicle here for any type of repair. They not only send it off to a repair shop that does a poor job, but also do not care and do not stand behind their work. My wife noticed the front end looked goofy as soon as she saw it. You're telling me their "professionals" (I use the term loosely) didn't notice what my accountant wife picked up on right away?! It's not even her car. I'll update once we get the assessment from a real shop. I plan to also send that report along with our paperwork to the attorney general in FL. People have to be complaining about this other than just us.

The shop they sent it to isn't even registered with the BBB! This is what we get from an insurance company we have been with for almost 10 years and never had a claim?! Stay away from Progressive service centers, they purposefully tell shops to use non-OEM/used/refurbished parts and could care less what happens to your car. They will also still charge you as if the shop did a top quality repair! The guys working there are not repair/automotive trained personnel. They are there to do the paperwork and get the cheapest local shop to do the minimum repairs on your car while still charging you as if they are from a real dealership or auto body shop.

We made this mistake by not researching it before we agreed to them to handle our repair for us because it would be "so convenient". We were 2+ weeks without a car, got it returned with a goofy-looking front end full of crap parts and our premium stereo is no longer functioning. Thank you Progressive for service befitting a longtime customer! I'd rather pay more somewhere else than give them another $1.

I hit a sign with my truck and called Progressive. They sent me a tow truck that picked my truck up and ran my company trailer into the sign 3 times, incurring damages of $2900. I called Progressive and filed a claim. I was told by the claims rep that I would get a call next day. The claims rep called and sent me an email that I couldn’t download. I called the claims rep back 7 times. All I got was an answering machine. I left a message explaining how I needed the file format changed. I got no call back. One week and 3 days later, I called and complained. I got a call back and was told they needed me to go get an estimate, take pictures, sign and send an email back. I explained by email that I couldn’t download the email. I got a reply that the email was not an attachment. The next day, I got an email saying that due to my not responding to what Progressive wanted, the claim would be closed. I called in anger and explained to another claims rep what happened. She sent me to another claims rep that changed the format and I was told that the lady in which I had talked to closed my claim and left to vacation and wouldn’t be able to do my claim till the following Tuesday.

On Tuesday, I got a call and was told that my claim was sent to Agero’s roadside. Roadside called and said they would be back in contact in 1 to 3 days. I waited till the third day after 1:00. I called them and was told I would be called in 3 hours. I waited until 4:50. I got an answering machine. I called 3 times and there was no call back. I called the Progressive claims rep back and was told she did her part and she would call roadside again. Until now I am losing customers. I'm losing my company. Any lawyer wants a job? Call me at **. Leave me a message or I will not call back. I am ashamed to tell people that Progressive is my insurance now. I will have to apologize to everyone I've bragged to about my insurance. An additional note to the information I provided previously. I talked to the person in charge of this claim, Greg ** in Knoxville, who was quite smug and arrogant. He told me the other driver said he had his lights on and that he saw me but did not have enough time to get out of the way. I reminded him again that I stated the other driver did not have his lights on. He said, "Can you prove that?" I asked if the other driver could prove he did have them on. I told him the first thing the other driver said when I asked him if he saw me, was "no".

So the claims person for my insurance company paid for a claim they should not have paid for, took the word of someone not insured with them and penalized their own client. Wow! So this claims person not only cost his company money, but alienated their own client. On top of that, he was rude and arrogant on the phone to me and refused to change his decision. Just like a man, cannot admit when they are wrong. I have never heard of a claims person putting fault on their own driver in a No-Fault accident.

If you look at the point of impact, corner to corner bumpers, you can see it was dual fault. There is no way I could have seen the other driver without his lights on and there is no way to tell how fast he was driving. I am so shocked that Progressive allows this claims person to cost them money, even though it was only $800, and he completely screwed their client. Wow, what kind of company is this? Not a good one to do business with! Find another company, as someone said, they have cute ads, but lacking in every other aspect. If they wouldn't spend so much money on TV advertising and lobbying, they might be able to take care of their clients better.

I was involved in a "no fault" accident in January 2012. The policeman said it was no fault and it happened in a parking lot. Normally, no fault means that each person's insurance company pays for the damage to their client's vehicle. The claims person from Progressive, my insurance company, played phone tag for weeks. I always had to leave a message for him, no matter what time of day; and it would never be until at least the next day before he called me back. I left him a brief message as to what happened and never heard another word until I got my renewal notice stating I was charged with the accident and my premium doubled. Excuse me?

At the time, I did not even know there was damage to my vehicle, because it was dark and we didn't see it. There was a scratch on the other car's bumper, only a scratch. My vehicle has a concave corner at the bumper - more damage than the other car - and I did not report it, because I didn't know it was there until months after. I was in a parking lot and was backing up. It was dusk, almost dark and raining hard. The other car did not have his lights on, and there's no telling how fast he was going.

It's corner to corner impact and very light as well as causing very little damage. And Progressive charged me, put 3 points on my insurance, and doubled the premium? They know that in doing this, they have me totally screwed and I cannot get insurance with anyone else. Very fishy. If they paid a claim for the other vehicle, then they are really stupid. No one ever talked to me, inspected my vehicle, or communicated anything with me. So how was it determined I was at fault? I have had friends tell me I should change and that I was paying too much and should have listened. Bad company. Stay far away from Progressive.

I have a wrecked 1995 truck with a damaged passenger door. Progressive totaled it, and we all agreed that a 95 truck in average retail condition was $7,125. With a $1,000 deductible, I expected a check for $6,125. They called and said the truck had a blown head gasket and was worth only $3,800. They said they could tell it was blown from the photos. Yes, they said from the photos. After I turned it over to my attorney, they cut me a check for $2,116 made out to me "only". They knew there was a lien on the truck and were trying to get me to take the money and run. When questioned where they came up with their number, they produced a "Prior Existing Damage Report," wherein they were taking every normal dent and ding (that made it in "average" retail condition); and they were deducting full retail cost to fix every one of them. Strange, but the document number on the bottom of this report was a combination of the claim number and date and time it was created. You know, it just happened to have been created the same day they cut me the bogus check and the day they were notified my attorney was involved.

When these tactics didn't work, twice they told me the claim had "to be settled today" or they'd tow the truck back to me at my expense. Then they had their "independent" appraiser appraise the truck as to its value before the damage. He came up with less than $800. And no surprise, he had the same things wrong with the truck as Progressive, and it was obvious from the numbers on the bottom of his "appraisal" that he used the same software. Hmmm. After my attorney filed suit, they immediately settled the claim for the correct amount, paid the attorney $1,000, and reimbursed me for the filing fee. Actually, I've hit only the high points here. They pulled much more than I have noted here. Had I listed everything, we could have turned it into a book that the whole insurance industry would use. It would be titled "How to Screw Your Policyholder."

Finally, I've run across many, many people, who have had a similar experience with Progressive. I found one who was satisfied with the settlement. That person just happened to be an attorney. Yep, an attorney. By the way, notice that I said at the top that the passenger door was damaged. That's all the damage there was. I'm convinced they decided it was cheaper to total the truck and screw me on the settlement than it was to fix it. And, when all was done and over, Progressive didn't even claim the truck. I had it towed home, fixed the door, and am still driving it.

On 3-3-12, I was on my pontoon boat with two friends going into the Intercoastal Waterway from St. Joe Bay when we passed through some seagrass. The engine overheated and I shut the engine off. I checked the oil and it was okay. I then checked the water pump belt and it was okay. I raised the outdrive and it was covered with seagrass, which had covered the inlet water ports cutting off the water supply to the engine and causing the engine to overheat. We removed the seagrass, let the engine cool down and restarted the engine. The water temperature showed normal temperature, but the engine was making a funny sound. So we decided to return to the boat ramp. On the way back, the engine backfired several times and then shut off.

When I contacted Progressive Insurance, they informed me that if I took the boat to a certified marine mechanic and have the engine torn down and they could not find anything mechanical that would cause the engine to overheat the Insurance, company would pay to have the engine repaired. They could not find anything mechanical that would cause the engine to overheat. They did find the head gasket blown. They claimed that the blown head gasket was the reason the engine overheated. But two qualified marine mechanics with over 70 years of combined experience stated that the overheated engine caused the head gasket to blow and damage the engine. The only time an agent looked at the engine, he (Scott) told the mechanic that he could not find anything mechanical wrong with the engine. He did point out some seagrass on the outdrive. He called me later and left a message on my answering machine that he saw rust and build up in the water jacket and that is what caused the engine to overheat and that was what he was going to put in his report.

That was untrue because the boat had only been in salt water a couple of times and the water jacket was almost perfect. I have pictures proving that. The next phone call I received from Progressive was from another agent named Kristian **. He left a message on my telephone that my claim had been denied because the head gasket had blown (now I have two different insurance agents who cannot agree on what caused the engine to overheat) and that is what caused the engine to overheat. I tried calling him several times, but he did not answer his phone nor would he return my calls.

So I called his supervisor (Diana **) and told her what had happened and that he would not return my phone calls. She said she would look into it and get back with me. A few days later, she called and left a message that she was going to stay with the original decision. I tried to call her and she did not return my calls. I called the insurance commission’s help hotline in Tallahassee. I told them what happened and they told me to send all the information I had and they would send Progressive Insurance a letter. They later sent me a letter telling me that Progressive Insurance had denied my claim again. They said there was nothing they could do and that I should contact an attorney, but the closest attorney that I can find is over 80 miles away.

I have two signed statements from qualified marine mechanics with over 70 years of combined experience. I have signed statements from the two people that were on the boat with me, plus my own signed statement. I also have pictures showing that the water jacket was clean. I sent all this information to Progressive Insurance Company and to the insurance commission in Tallahassee. Today’s date is 5-1-12 and my boat has still not been repaired. I will have to pay the repair bill myself. Mark it up for Progressive Insurance, they have refused to pay another claim and it looks like they will get away with it again.

I wouldn't even give them one star if it was an option. Let's start with saying that at the time of purchase of my insurance plan, I was informed that paying every 6 months would be cheaper than every month. So once every six months, I'll receive a phone call telling me it was time to pay again. This past time, I had not received a phone call so a payment was not made on time. One day after the required pay time, I was in an accident where a drunk driver had hit me as I was making a turn. We both stopped and switched information. He was gone within five minutes after the collision happened. Not even enough time for an officer to show up. The next day, I called Progressive to file a claim and they informed me that they would not cover me because I did not have coverage at the time of the accident.

May I remind you, it was one day late! Needless to say, they are not an insurance company that I would recommend for someone who would like a caring, respectful, polite company. They may have many "deals" to offer, but absolutely, no compassion! Then two months later, I was in a parking spot with nothing but the AC on and a woman trying to pull in next to me hit my rear tire extremely hard. We also exchanged information, hers also being Progressive and I called to file this claim as well. The next day, I got a call back saying that Progressive would not cover the accident under her policy because she was an excluded driver and then proceeded to tell me that in order to get my car fixed, I would have to pay 250 dollar deductible!

Progressive used Domestic Violence situation to cancel policy - I was in an abusive relationship that I was finally able to break off and had to sign up for new car insurance because of problems I was having with the one at the time. So I answered all the questions and never placed his name on the application as a driver since he wasn't living at our address anymore. He was on the previous insurance and I had even gone as far as delaying when it was to go into effect, so he was covered by insurance at the time. Our landlord has records of everything that had been taking place and there is a clause in our rental agreement that if one of the renters could not afford to stay there, they needed to find a reasonable replacement for a roommate. He didn't care, so he didn't bother finding a replacement. He has no job, unemployment and all he does is go on the internet playing games.

All this started back in November. Then I had a medical emergency and was out of work for 12 weeks. Since their policy says that you can have another driver drive your car, I didn't think it was a problem. I didn't want to scare my family, so I called him for help. I even told the agent that he drove the car 3 times after the policy was in force and had to help take care of me at home since I was now disabled and couldn't take care of myself, but he was still not a resident at this address.

The only time he was allowed to drive my car was when I was present, so I knew how many times he drove since I was bedridden during the entire time. During that time, my children's grandparents, godfather and my daughter took over taking the kids to school for me so that they didn't miss. Now, that I had recovered where I can somewhat function, he officially left and even told the landlord that he was moved out as per before since I was paying all the bills and his name couldn't be changed unless I release him from all the money he owes me for the rental agreement.

I work 3rd shift and I wasn't feeling so well, so I went to bed early on April 20. When I woke up, he was in my apartment with the kids and I wanted to know why he was there. He said he wanted to see the kids and there was something he needed to tell me, but he couldn't remember. I figured the kids let him in, so I didn't think anything of it. I told him he could stay since it was my late night start time. So I woke up and he said the same thing about telling me something, but he couldn't remember. I got ready for work and ran down to my car and found that there was a big dent in the side like he wrapped the door around the pylon separating the parking spots. I called it in to the insurance right away and explained everything to them and that he took my car without permission and used a set of keys that he was not supposed to have. At that time, I also informed them that the situation was a domestic abuse so the rental lease is a little different because of what had taken place as a result of the abuse.

They said that there would be an investigation. So I had given them the information for the landlord so that they can confirm everything I had said. Now, here we are 10 days later and being told that I committed fraud when I signed up for the initial policy for not adding his name as a roommate. Why add the name of someone who was kicked out for not being able to pay his bills? Now they are refusing to pay the damages on my car, which is over $2000, and they are cancelling my coverage due to fraud and misrepresentation. I called him and asked him what he told them and he said that he was driving all this time, but he didn't live here and told me, “Good luck getting me to pay for the bill or having me arrested.” So now I was not only hung out to dry again by my ex, but now Progressive has also empowered him to continue the abuse and make my life more difficult being someone who has disabilities. So in the end, Progressive has no problems with assisting the aggressor in domestic abuse and punishing the disabled.

On 2/13/12, I was hit head-on by a party driving the car of an insured for the Progressive Insurance Company. The other driver was cited for no headlights by the Modesto Police Dept. and she was determined to be at fault for causing this accident. No one has seen the vehicle until she was in my headlights. I have also suffered major injuries caused by this auto accident occurrence. On 4/18/2012, I received a letter form Progressive Insurance which states, "We have completed the liability investigation and determined that their insured is not responsible for damages." I called the (800) number on the letter then was transferred to the 4712 Stoddard, Modesto office to the manager, **. I then told him that I was confused about the letter saying the claim was closed. How could they close the investigation without even talking to me? I also asked him if they even received a copy of the police report. I have been calling and leaving messages for a month. The claims has been calling me and leaving messages, but not returning my calls until days later, so I never got the chance to speak to anyone until that day with **.

He then proceeded to tell me that he was not going to be respecting the police report, and has closed this based on his own facts that he has gathered from the insured. I really did not know what to think after that statement, and decided to take the advice of the letter sent by Progressive that says to make a complaint with Consumer's Affairs if you do not agree with this. I informed my insurance company, State Farm, and sent them a copy of the letter. My insurance could not even believe the Progressive's reaction to this claim. The woman who hit me was driving without headlights at night and speeding. She did not even slow down when she hit me head on. I was waiting to make a left turn, and the she did not veer off to the right as you would have to in order not to enter into the left turn lane.

The police report clearly states that the fact that she was driving without headlights was the cause of the accident. She was cited. We are all very lucky to be alive including the children in her car, as to which I was holding the 7-year old and the driver behind me was holding the infant. The driver behind me took them out of the car and, by God's grace, the children were okay. The driver was yelling into her cell phone, and was not even asking how her children were. The police report states that she was emotional, which was very mild description of her behavior. Her car landed on top of the sidewalk, and very fortunate that no one was walking there. My car never left the turn lane. Even after the impact, I was spun around to face the car directly behind me. I kept control of my car. She was not paying attention and did not apply brakes. She actually hit the gas. She did not leave her car at all, even after the children were outside, not even ask how the kids are but continued to talk and yell into her cell phone until the police arrived.

A complete investigation was done by the police department, which Progressive Insurance, Mr. ** told me he is not going to be respecting and without talking to me; and has used his own conclusions to close this case. I have seen Progressive Insurance commercials on TV, and thought that this Insurance should be handling case better than this according to their advertisements. I am bewildered.

I dropped it off on 3/15/12 with the understanding that they were going to replace the bumper and detail the interior of my car due to coffee stains resulting from the accident. I was asked to pick up my car on the 23rd. When I went there, the associate informed me that the bumper had been replaced and that she was giving me a $50 check to have the remaining detailing done. She stated that the majority of the car had been detailed, but that they had finished the trim molding around each door. I told her that didn't sound right and that I'd like to see my car.

During inspecting the work, I noticed that several holes, one over an inch in size had been burnt into my seats and then covered with some glue substance. I pointed it out as well as commented that the seats actually looked dirtier than they had when I left it. She agreed and then proceeded to look at the pictures of my car that had been taken at the shop with me. Some of the photos show wearing of the interior as should considering it's a '08 model, but she agreed with me that they by no means depict holes. I told her I wouldn't accept my car back and that I expected the damaged to be repaired.

A few days later, I was called and informed that no such repair would be completed and that from that day forward, I would be charged daily for the retail as well as them housing my car. I went in to review the pictures with the claims manager Scott and he said that he wasn't going to repair the damage because the pictures show wear and tear. I checked the date of the "time stamped" photos and they were taken 3/19/12, a full 4 days after I gave Progressive my car. Scott said he'd submit it to his claims dept who as of today, 4/13/12, refuses to do any repairs regardless of the fact that the pictures they have show no visible holes.

After a month, I checked my policy online and found out that they removed my husband under insured drivers and put him under "other" as "never licensed" without our knowledge. That’s how they gave me "deep discount" by removing him under insured driver. Again, this was without my knowledge. I talked to three different people and got three different answers.

While stopped at a red light, another car rear ended mine. The other driver was charged with the accident. At the time we had Progressive Insurance (10 years). They would not even pay the full amount to fix the car, also claimed that the other driver had no insurance, which put the cost of the deductible on us. After that, we were fed up with Progressive and went with another insurance company. While getting the other insurance, we were told that the same accident is on my record and we will have to pay more monthly for that even though the other driver was charged with the accident and was responsible. We know it was Progressive who did this because we canceled their insurance. Also, the new insurance company told us this is very hard to remove from your record and will have to pay more for the next 3 years because of it! How can this be legal?

Contacting Progressive for home insurance was one of the worst experiences of my year. After several long phone calls and emails with Kevin **, I was issued a policy and I cancelled my former policy with a local firm. Then Teri **, an assessor from Millennium Information Service, Inc., came to the house. Her report resulted in cancellation of my policy by email. So much about the way I was treated, and the process itself was either wrong or just sloppy. I believe if I were inclined to consult my lawyer about it, he might advise further action. I will not pursue it, mainly because I am utterly fatigued and fed up with Progressive. Some of the assessor's comments were warranted and were part of my rehab plan for the summer (trees too close to house, for example).

But she thought it relevant to write that "there is a spider's web in the side doorway" (They actually are the faded marks of an old hornet's nest) and that "paint is chipping off the garage." Does every home insured by Progressive/Homesite have perfectly new paint? How does that have anything to do with insurability of a home?

I spent a great deal of time with Kevin **, going over the property from a recent property assessment. He knew this is a country home in the woods. There are hornets, there are spiders, and there are even flies. Ms. Teri also thought it important to report that "the electric meter is broken." The day before she visited, our electric company man came and took his reading as usual. I assure you the meter works perfectly well.

The report cancelling my policy has a coded item "major gutters missing". Neither Kevin nor Teri is aware, apparently, that it is impossible to put gutters on a sloping metal roof in an area with heavy snowstorms. My contractor had to laugh at that. The first snowstorm would rip the gutters down by the weight of the snow and ice. That is why in Vermont, perfectly new business buildings have signs in parking areas saying "Watch for falling snow and ice".

I was able, thank goodness, in one day to open a new policy with a local agent. Because of this experience with Progressive/Homesite, I will soon be cancelling my auto policy. Judging by the ratings websites out there, both the auto and especially the newer home insurance by Progressive are losing customers and reputation quickly.

The bitter ending was that they refunded my 6 months' premium twice. I thought I must have paid for a full year and I deposited the two checks. Then I got emails and phone calls which said "Sorry for the inconvenience" but that the second check will bounce and I should let them know if I am charged for it by my bank. They promise to pay me when the returned check charge comes through, even though this has the potential to tarnish my record at the bank. I exit laughing, because it is so typical of the inept nature of Progressive.

I had to chase him down to inform him that he hit me. It’s a miracle he didn’t kill because of his negligence. Amigos Trucking stated this was the 2nd accident that they have had in one week’s time. That in itself doesn't look good for this company. I filed a claim with their insurance company which is Progressive. The investigator rules in their favor stating they were not at fault. Amigos Trucking hit me, so I certainly do not agree with this at all. They are just trying to protect the driver’s CDL license, which he would more than likely lose, since this is clearly his fault.

Refusal to pay towing and storage - My 1998 Volvo S70 was totaled on September 14 of last year. The driver who caused the accident had state minimum liability that had to cover 2 damaged vehicles, resulting in my settlement being a thousand dollars less than Kelly Blue Book value. Three months had slipped by before my settlement check was delivered on December 15. I immediately deposited it into my credit union account and withdrew the money on December 19, when the hold was over. I wanted to grab that money because (redacted) with Progressive Insurance had threatened to stop payment on the check, as I was the reason they could not pick up my car from the body shop. I had refused to pay towing and storage.

Now, Progressive had instructed me to remove my car from storage early on. What they did not tell me at the time was that towing and storage charges were their responsibility. I would have let them have it towed to my house had they made the offer. That never happened. The body shop was not releasing the car until appropriate charges were paid.

Sure enough, the stop payment went through on December 21 and my account was debited for the amount of the check. It’s a standard practice with my credit union to honor a stop payment after an insurance check has been withdrawn in order to decrease insurance fraud. The money was returned to the credit union, and I was left high and dry, so to speak.

I want to point out that (redacted) with Progressive, at the time she hand delivered my check, told me that there were no additional funds to pay towing and storage because all the money was used up on the claims. I immediately called the owner of the body shop and handed the phone over to (redacted) so that she could explain the situation to him. I certainly did not have the funds to cover three months of storage.

Finally, on February 28 of this year, I filed a complaint online with my states Division of Insurance. Their investigation resulted in my settlement check being generated on March 14. And (redacted) left me a voice mail, apologizing for the delay, and informing me that she was mailing my check that day. A week later, I still did not have that check.

I called the analyst who was handling my complaint at Division of Insurance and told her what was going on. She contacted Progressives regional manager, resulting in another voice mail from (redacted) telling me that she was hand delivering a new check, and stopping payment on the check I never received. When that happened the following day, (redacted) told me that she had mailed the original check on the 14th and could not understand why it never arrived. She then said I should destroy that check if it ever came.

Returning home after depositing my new check, what should I discover in the days mail delivery but that mystery check that had somehow got temporarily lost. I opened the envelope, and sure enough, the check had the date March 14, 2012. Just one problem, the Pitney Bowes postage machine at Progressive included the date on the printed postage, and that was March 21, 2012. So, (redacted) was caught in her lie. She had purposely held my check and lied to me and the Division of Insurance analyst about it. I guess holding my check was her big get even for leaving Progressive in the lurch for the towing and storage fees. It took 6 months and help from the state, but I finally have my settlement check plus $61 accrued interest.

I filed a liability claim with them and tried to settle with them 19 months after my loss. I sent them a letter in January 2012 and the adjuster did not respond until late February 2012 with a phone call. In March, she sent me an offer and followed up with a phone call. When I reviewed the offer, it was low and offensive. I communicated with her in writing and she called back with another verbal offer of $250 more. I sent another letter stating that it was unacceptable. She called back today and Gaily said, "Your two year statute of limitations have ran out. There is nothing I can do on this claim". I spoke to her manager and he confirmed that Progressive's statute had ran out. I asked him how I would know that. He looked in his computer and said a letter was mailed to me on June 9, 2011 stating the statute.

Ironically, I have every letter they sent me but that letter was never received. Additionally, in the three recent phone conversations I had with the claims representative, she never mentioned the two year statute. No one has ever mentioned the statute. My not receiving the letter and no one mentioning the statute, make all of this convenient and favorable to Progressive. I did not know that a company could "dispose" of their obligation via running out the statue, not informing the client verbally or in writing. But their computer says there was a form letter generated but there is no proof of mailing. This is unacceptable and Progressive should not be allowed to get away with it.

I have heard very disturbing information from my insurance, Progressive, saying the police was not even called to the scene of the accident (there is a report that I faxed to both companies) and that I slid into his car.

He made it a point to tell my insurance company that he was a criminal attorney. Did that scare them? I believe no one wants to deal with the deductible—they just want me to pay. I don't see why I should pay when I didn't cause the accident. The other driver did and he even received the ticket. Why would I cause it when he slid into my lane and hit my car? If I caused the accident, I would have been in his lane and I would have received the ticket. I believe he knew exactly what he was doing when he told his insurance company he does not want them to pay. His name is Ralph ** from Arvada, CO. I can't afford my deductible, so how could I afford an attorney? This game obviously is for the wealthy. We would be better off not carrying insurance and saving the money to pay for the damage. This is what was told to me by a supervisor named Paula. I wrote the company many emails and apparently this supervisor, who is in the customer care department, did not have access to my emails and neither does her supervisor. The emails I wrote that had large implications with my policy rates went to their "internet team" but evidently they do nothing with them (i.e. you can write all you want and it would be all in waste).

I drive so few miles per year, about 1,000. I was never driving out late and never had a need in bad weather as I can stay home for more than a month at a time and I still walk 2 miles to the store to buy groceries even when I am insured. My credit score is in the top 1% of the country. My prior policy rate was $81 for 6 months. I let the company know they can see my vehicle parked 1/4 miles away from any road via satellite to see I am not driving it and I wanted to save a few dollars by walking instead of any driving for just less than the 31-day period that I am aware of that seems to make such a huge difference in car insurance premiums even though there is no good justification for it.

So my new rate would be $79 for 6 months if I didn't have a single day lapse. But if only one day would lapse (some people do not need to drive every day), I would be penalized $26. If a person doesn't drive one day and not be insured that one day, why are they charged $26? It makes no mathematical sense! But as the supervisor made clear, she is not concerned with mathematics. How could she ignore math when all the policy rates are dependent on math?

So I am stuck in paying for a $105 premium or play some stupid monkey game and get on another person's insurance policy for one hour and then apply online at Progressive to say I both have been insured in the past 31 days and am currently covered. Then, suddenly my premium goes to $88! Does everyone see the nonsense in this? I am a mathematician and am very capable of being an actuary to assess risk. There needs to be sensible persons involved in rate setting. I would try to do this, but you can be assured I would be knocked down if I tried to help society in this.

You all may view my contention on liability insurance in a chapter in my book "God Gave You a Brain: Use It!" People who have less expensive cars are forced to pay high car insurance premiums because other people decide to drive expensive cars. This needs to change as well. I provide a mathematical means to effect the needed change.

After over five months of driving around with the snapshot unit in my vehicle, I've just been informed that I don't qualify for the snapshot discount. I called a representative to ask for the reason as I am an extremely safe and road aware driver, with over 40 years of driving without anything more than an occasional parking ticket. I've never had an accident and drive approximately 5 miles to work, where my vehicle remains parked for 8+ hours, and then is driven home. As a musician, there are occasions when I drive home from a gig, which would explain the high risk portion of the tracking device, but that's not the reason that I was denied. The first person that I talked to proceeded to explain to me what the device tracks, and I politely let her know that I had already researched that online and knew that before I installed the device in the first place.

I told her that "Well then, one of your relatives is driving your car." Seriously? One of my relatives is suffering from dementia and the other can't walk due to back surgery. So where do the so called hard stops come from? My feeling is that the data is falsified to avoid offering the discount. While I appreciate the low rate, I don't agree with their findings. I'm a conscientious and safe driver and I never hard break because I constantly anticipate the traffic as I drive. That's all I have to say. Other than that, I'm disappointed in Progressive's response as well as the erroneous data this device seems to collect.

The key problem: I found my insurance price that the Progressive confirmed to me lately much more expensive than the price I heard from the car dealer, who introduced the insurance and mediated for me to pay my insurance fee to Progressive first. The Progressive agent took the broker fee $347 I paid to the dealer on February 17 by relying upon the dealer's deceptive mediation without letting me know the facts.

I went to the Paragon Honda, which is located in Woodside, NY, with a friend of mine on February 17. I bought a Honda CR-V and contracted the Progressive insurance.Due to the absence of my US bank account and credit cards, I paid by cash for the car and the insurance. -The car dealer suggested me to contract the insurance (Progressive) with a good deal. My friend asked him to wait until we can compare Progressive with other insurances she has known.

He gave all my information (my driving history in NY, social security number, etc.) to Progressive and suggested me to take it, because it offers a good contact that can be much cheaper than other insurances. The price he suggested was $1100 for one year after the future step that I give my bank account information to the Progressive after I open my bank account later.

During the initial contact, Progressive didn't give me any documents that show an estimate of my insurance price. The car dealer just gave me the Progressive agent's name (Susanna) later to find out how to pay off my insurance fee. He asked me to pay $590.38 by cash for the half of $1100, and he gave me two receipts (one for the broker fee $367 with the agent's signature [Susanna] and another for the initial payment fee $223,38). But I came to know later about this fact that part of the insurance payment went for the agent broker fee, and he never told me about this fact clearly and appeared to get it done very quickly. He suggested me to call Susanna to make sure when I pay for the remaining balance after I open my bank account.

It took two weeks for me to know my current problem, finally due to the following circumstances below. It's taking a week to open a bank account after getting my ID from my current workplace required for opening my current account. Having received several emails to ask me to confirm my insurance policy after contacting Progressive and taking a week to struggle with the Progressive web-system because somehow the Progressive had wrong information (address and birth date) about me, so I couldn't find my insurance content. It's taking two weeks to fix car problems (scratches and ripped leather).

Since last week when I found my problem, I have appealed to Progressive by email by telling the whole story, but I haven't received any appropriate answers from them. The Progressive confirmed the fact by email that my insurance price is about $1159 only for six months, and I will take my next payment from my bank account automatically. Unexpectedly, I have to pay as double now.

Lately, I met the car dealer in person and spoke about this problem on March 6, 2012. I asked him to let me know about the car insurance price he heard from the Progressive agent first. He said that the price was the same as what I knew first. When I asked him to call the Progressive agent who took care of my payment. He tried to avoid the situation by saying that he could find out after speaking to the agent later.

I just purchased my new Benz 2 months ago, and it was a nightmare with those auto insurance companies. I was with Geico before I purchased my Benz, and the reason I want to change my insurance company is that, Geico raised my fees by about $400, from my 2007 Lexus RX350 to 2011 Benz 300, and is now about $2,500.00 a year. I started to shop around for a new policy, and the cheapest and the worst insurance company is 21st Century, at around $1,700 a year. The day I purchased my Benz, I have waited for it for 6 hours at the Benz dealership, just for 21st Century to fax a correct insurance ID card. I have called 6 times (same person answers, so they only have one owner and one employee? ). They have faxed it 6 times in 6 hours. They have faxed the card with a wrong date or wrong VI number for five times. I cancelled this insurance in the next 3 days.

Before I cancelled, I called and talked to a person from the insurance company. I did some comparison, and I went with Progressive, since they do so much commercial on TV, I thought they should be okay. I bought auto insurance with Progressive over the phone. The agent told me the total of the premium is $2067.00 a year, and asked me if I would like to pay for 6 months or the full amount, and I chose to pay for the full amount. After that, I went to their website to check out their snapshot, and I applied for it (you really think is going to save your money? Don't be fooled). I tried their snapshot .

After trying the snapshot (it took about one month). I have received an email from progressive, to return the device, so I went to their website, Progressive.com, to double check the policy’s details again, and I found out that the money I am paying for is only for 6 months. I was shocked, so I called Progressive and asked them if there is a mistake. I asked the agent to double check, and the agent I spoke with is very nasty, and has a very bad attitude. She didn't even help me to look into why I have been charged double, compared to other insurance companies, and answered me right away, saying that is the price of my policy. I cancelled the policy on the same day, and I went with Liberty Mutual, with an annual premium of a little over $1,900.00. They have good and fast service, and very friendly agents, at a very fair price. If anyone has the same problem with Progressive, please report them.

We have been with Progressive for over five years without making a single claim. We bought a 2012 Kia Sorento back in August 2011 and had full coverage placed on it. Every month without fail, our insurance payment was auto-drafted from our account. We moved to Colorado in December and of course updated our info, or so we thought. We received a cancellation notice on February 3, so we immediately called Progressive and were told it was due to non-payment. Our bank info had not been updated, so my wife gave the CSR our updated info and even asked if there was anything we needed to do to be fully insured as the bank owns the car. We were assured not only that we were covered but also that we should disregard any additional cancellation notices.

On February 19, our scheduled autodraft payment date, our payment was received confirming that we were in fact still policy holders. My wife then rear-ended someone on February 28, 2012. We made two calls to Progressive that night, were given a claim number and had our vehicle towed to a repair shop. Next morning, my wife called to verify our deductible and just prepare for the adjuster when she was informed that our policy had been cancelled due to a garaging issue. Basically meaning our address on file hadn't been verified. I asked how did they attempt to contact us, their answer, "We sent a letter," to the address that supposedly wasn't verified. When I asked about the payment that was taken out, their only response was, "We're working to have it credited back to your account." So had we not had this accident, how long would they have continued to draft money from a bank account belonging to a supposed cancelled policy holder? This is ridiculous. Now, we can't even get a clear cut yes or no out of them. They might all be crooks out there but Progressive will not get one red cent of our hard-earned money ever again! Buyer beware!

We repaired the roof ourselves because if you've gotten an estimate for that sort of thing, it's really expensive especially if your insurance company wigs out about paying for it. My husband bought the canned rubber that you roll on and spent several weekends getting it finished. A year later, there was a wind storm/tornado that ripped through our town and ripped the front of the roof off like a sardine can causing complete water damage and complete and total destruction of the inside of the RV.

They denied the claim again saying that we didn't get the roof professionally fixed so we couldn't prove that the damage was current. It was fresh damage and you could definitely see that the roof had been fixed because the rubber had been blown off. My mom has State Farm and was in a similar situation as my husband, the same day of her accident, an agent from State Farm contacted her and gave her the details of where to take the car; within a week her car was fixed. My advice -- do not get Progressive. I will definitely not be renewing my insurance with them.

On December 27, 2011, a young man who was properly insured by Progressive made a left turn in front of me at an intersection and hit me head on. A police report was filled out and both of us had insurance, he with Progressive and me with American Family. My insurance company filed a claim for me against Progressive's driver. At which time, Progressive did an eligibility investigation on the young man. This is after he already had insurance and had the accident and determined that his application had been falsified in some manner and they canceled his policy, leaving both of us to fend for ourselves.

It would seem like Progressive should have done a background check on their applicant before issuing him insurance and turning him loose on the streets to cause mayhem. Poor kid thought he had insurance but didn't. Luckily, my under-insured motorist insurance covered my medical and compensated my loss in its entirety (my car was totaled) so I came out okay but I sure feel sorry for that poor kid who thought he was covered by Progressive. I love American Family Insurance and my agent who is now my BFF.

I purchased boat insurance from Progressive over a year ago. I hit an underwater rock pile in January of 2012 and destroyed the lower unit (transmission) and cause a hole in the power head (engine). Well, I filed a claim with Progressive. The adjuster stated that they would pay for the lower unit ($1,400) but not the power head ($7,000). The power head was only two years old.

He stated that after the mechanic tore the engine apart, he could not feel any oil in the block. I explained to him that I ran the engine for over an hour in my yard with the water connected. It ran okay but the lower unit made a noise when I put it in gear. The engine (01 Mercury Optimax 200HP) is computer controlled and the computer stopped working when the collision occurred.

The mechanic and I both stated in the recorded conversation that the engine had over revved and this could have caused the engine to stop oiling. The oil canister was nearly full. The boat ran perfect before the accident with no warnings of anything. As a matter of fact, the engine will crank and run now.

The adjuster stated that it was really two claims requiring two $500 deductibles. That's ridiculous, how can one accident cause two claims? How can you pay for one part of the engine and not pay for the power head. The adjuster stated that he had never seen this happen before and that someone had to prove to him that the accident caused the engine blow up. It’s obvious the accident caused the computer to stop oiling if the lower-unit was hit hard enough to destroy it.

I will never, ever purchase anything from these crooks again. I've filed a complaint with the State Insurance Commissioner. This company should be banned from selling insurance in all 50 states.

In April of 2011, I purchased a 2009 Nissan Sentra from a local Nissan dealership. My husband and I financed the vehicle originally through the dealership, who then shopped out the loan to Capital One Bank. We added this vehicle to our current insurance policy with Progressive online, with our lien holder information. On Tuesday, January 31st, I was in an at fault accident with another vehicle. When I called our insurance company, Progressive, I was told that while we did have liability and comprehensive coverage, we did not have collision coverage. I reviewed our policy online, and found that we when we renewed our policy online, we did indeed select comprehensive and liability, and not collision on accident, and had been driving for 10 months thinking we were fully covered through our insurance.

Because lien holders typically require collision/full coverage, I called Capital One to ask why we were not notified that we didn't have all the insurance coverage they required. Capital One informed me that they had no insurance on file for us. I called Progressive back to ask if they had sent over our insurance policy to Capital One, when we added the Sentra and lien holder information. Their response was that they didn't send insurance information out, unless it was requested by the policy holder.

My complaint is that Progressive did not send over our insurance policy information to Capital One, when we filled out our insurance application and lien holder information, even though they are responsible to both us and the lien holder. Had they sent over our policy, Capital One would have been able to see that we did not have the required coverage for our loan, and notified us that we needed to update our policy.

We have been insured with Progressive for two years. Prior to this we were always insured with preferred carriers. My wife and I are divorcing so I called Progressive to get my own policy. I have a perfect driving record, safe driver, 57 years old and currently our policy is $1100 per six months for two cars. I have had two non-fault claims in the past four years. One claim was a hit-and-run on my SUV in 2007. It was parked, no occupants; the other was hitting road debris from a semi-truck on an interstate in my wife's car in 2011. When I called to get my own policy I was quoted $1700 for six months when my vehicle before was $542 for six months. This is absurd, I have been insured with them previously, two claims on two different vehicles for accidents that could not be avoided and they want me to pay triple the premium while my wife keeps the original policy with minimal premium change.

I had/have a policy, which is set to expire on February 28, 2012. It was paid in full, on or before February 28, 2011. Progressive, of course, had full knowledge of the traffic stop, and naturally saw fit to increase the premium on my 30 MPH, three-wheeled electric car under this policy (by 50%). However, since my driver's license is suspended, I am not driving any motor vehicle. I did not accept Progressive's new terms, and notified them of this, primarily because I don't need car insurance until June 2012, when I get my license back, but also because of the premium increased.

Undaunted, Progressive is billing me for the "new" policy already. I have notified them several times I do not (cannot) use insurance now, and if anything, they owe me a refund. Of course, that's not "the way it works". Insurance companies, rarely if ever, give refunds for money they haven't earned. They simply think they are entitled to whatever they can swindle out of you. I simply want them to stop billing me for a policy which is a figment of their imagination. This is criminal, or should be. I am very upset.

I did the same thing and even purchased a new policy from another company that I researched on the Internet as a top rated car insurer for several years by J. D. Powers , before my policy expired with Progressive and did not ask for any refund. I have never been involved in any accident or filed a claim with Progressive while being insured with them or any other accident in over 30 years and I never an accident that was my fault.

I switched from Progressive, who has a terrible customer service record and who was charging me 3 times as much for a better policy with a top number one customer rated insurance company at 1/3 the cost . That was over a year ago. This past week, I found out that Progressive placed on my credit report that I failed to pay them $76 for not informing them that I was no longer going to renew my insurance with them . Of Course at that time, I only called them by phone and had no paperwork to back up my claim of non renewal.

Now, I have no choice but to pay them the additional money just to clear my credit report of this false information. Progressive and the people who work for this company are no more than common criminals, liars and cheats. I believe that it is very clear why Progressive has so many advertisements everyday at such a huge cost of millions of dollars . If they can bring in as many new customers everyday as much as the customers that they just lost by screwing them over , then they will win and we, the customers, will lose. That is their plan and goal! I found the company I have now by doing some simple research over the Internet . Maybe 20 minutes maximum . They do not have any T V commercials and do not need the character of Flo to sell their insurance to an unsuspecting potential customer. A better name for Progressive would be Predator. Let the buyer beware. I am lucky I got out before they could really take me to the cleaners .

My car got hit in front of my house (parked and not moving, no people inside) by a lady insured by Progressive. That was more than 3 weeks ago (01.21.12). She was honest enough to leave her phone and insurance info on my windshield. I appreciate that, but what followed dealing with her insurance is the most painful experience I have had (the lead is still held by the mortgage companies). There was a claim representative assigned to the claim, who started investigating and trying to figure out if there was a preexisting damage before that accident. It took him 2 weeks to determine there was no preexisting damage on the car. Then meanwhile I had to go to their office and get their estimate on the damage and the guy there gave me an estimate on the parts. He saw damaged only outside (bumper, grill, headlight, rebar, etc.). He told me when I bring the car to a body shop if something more needs to be fixed, they will send a person to re-estimate the damage and they will take care of it. And sure enough there was mechanical damage behind the bumper and grill that had to be estimated.

And I started being given run around for a week. I have been bouncing between 3 people, who I can not reach and I am leaving messages and can not have the car fixed because they just do not cooperate and do their job. In fact I was told yesterday by the person who is supposed to go in the shop where the car is and make the estimate, after I have been calling the 3 gentlemen all day, that he recommends me to go to a body shop (preferably to the body shops they Progressive have) and not to my mechanic, who I trust and know for years. He said mechanics do not have the proper equipment to do body work and they delay ordering parts and fixing the cars and the insurance will end up paying unnecessary fees for rental car. Well, the parts that already have been estimated being damaged for the body work have been ordered already and will be here tomorrow. All I need is someone to go and inspect the mechanical damage so they can start working on the car. And I am doing that before even I have gotten any checks from them. So I don’t know who is making all the delays, not my mechanic for sure.

I am going on my 4th week since the accident and my car is still not fixed and I have no check from them and it is not even my fault that their client backed into my car in front of my house. Very disappointed and angry. I am considering contacting attorney at this point because nobody seems to care in Progressive.

On Oct 31st, I moved out of Ohio to SC. I canceled my insurance with Progressive on Nov 1st, due to the much higher costs. Also, my car was broken, causing me not to be able to drive anyway. When I went to go check my email a few weeks later, I had gotten a notice from Progressive, saying my billing period had changed per my request, and my new amount was $87 per month. That's odd, since I canceled my account with them. I called them once I was off from work, and was informed that I had canceled my Mazda, but I had gotten a Ford Edge, and was now insuring that in OH. Firstly, I no longer live in OH. Secondly, I still have my Mazda, and it's broken down in the apartment parking lot, and thirdly, I don't even know what a Ford Edge looks like.

She then told me it has all my information, and the billing was the same. I hung up, and instantly called my old bank that was tied to Progressive, and sure enough, money had been withdrawn to pay for this new insurance. I called Progressive back instantly, and was told, since I disputed said account, I cannot access it, and that if I truly believe someone was using my identity, I should file for identity theft. After taking all the routes of filing identity theft, having my credit frozen, not being able to pull any new lines of credit, or start any new accounts include a bank, or new insurance, 3 months passes by. This week, a Progressive rep called me to discuss my complaint, 3 months later! She informs me I misunderstood the first woman, and that there is a different woman with my same birth date and last name living in the same county in OH (I think I know my relatives, and trust me I am the oldest cousin), and the charges were due to them renewing the canceled policy. It's not adding up. Now, I need to hire a lawyer to get this cleared, so I can get a bank account, new car insurance, and resume starting my new life. The person who said the woman turned everything around on them, and was making it their fault, instead of Progressive's, couldn't be more right.

Based on word of mouth, my car was deemed totaled, and the loaning bank was called by my Progressive accident handler, and asked where to send the check.

All this was done, before my car was looked at by the adjuster. I then received a rental on 1/26/12, because I pay for rental insurance, and the rental reimbursement policy states $30 per day for 30 days. My rental is to be taken away by Friday, 2/3/12. Which now means that I have only had my rental that I'm insured for, for thirty days, I have had for only 6days. My offer on the payout is substantially lower than what I owed on the car, and I did not authorize the offer given to me, so my claim should still be open.

It is now evident that I was highly over-financed. Instead of them deducting it from the other insurance carrier, which is what they was supposed to do, and that's what they told me they were going to do. They waited until a whole entire year to get back with me, just to tell me that they quit pursuing the case. I figured that wasn't right at all, for them to take the deductible from my money that I receive from the accident.

So, instead of going after the owner of the vehicle who was reckless and indifferent to tell anybody to drive her vehicle, Progressive decides to go after the easier target, the young adult.

Three lessons learned from this. 1) No good deed goes unpunished. 2) Always check if a vehicle is properly insured before you drive it. Don't be embarrassed to ask the owner for proof of insurance. 3) Do not deal with an insurance company that has such a deplorable practices and preys on young adults. They don’t even have the courtesy to respond to written correspondence by my lawyer. That should tell you how arrogant and indifferent they are. On Mar. 27, 2009, I was rear ended by a Progressive insured while shifting into first gear at a stoplight. At the time, she apologized for stepping on the gas instead of braking, but later lied at a deposition claiming she rolled into my car. There was obvious impact and pictures of frame damage. For me, since I was shifting at the time, I had way more issues than if I had been just sitting there. At the time of the accident, I was a very athletic, petite, 5'2, 35 year old (running, snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing, etc). After the accident, I had severe arm, wrist, hand pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, stomach, groin and hip pain. I had trouble walking, was extremely exhausted, lethargic, irritable and had a difficult time being intimate with my husband due to the hip struggles. All activities stopped. I eventually required hip surgery and will need future care based on my MRIs and the pain I still have.

Unfortunately, "Oregon Law" states that your "PIP covers the first year only". I had a 100K policy and used less than a third. My medical insurance stepped in afterwards, however, didn't cover everything. After almost 3 years, depleting my savings account and around $60K in medical expenses, Progressive offered settlement of $5000 (their first written offer was around $1000). After the attorneys argued with a mediator, their final offer was $15000! This was $15000 total! Nothing to cover future medical, didn't come close to covering for current medical and absolutely nothing for punitive damages even though 2 years of my life were taken from me. Gee, you think their attorney probably got paid more than that? I'm sure.

I'm now almost 38, I am starting my life again and can't tell you how horrible Progressive treats the victims of their insured. In case you're wondering, I didn't go to court because that would've cost me another $8000 and could've resulted in $0. This is what they do! Be aware! Progressive is currently one of the worst insurance companies out there as far as claims and being responsible! They have many, many commercials and offer "great coverage", but you can be assured they never pay for anything! You may have heard of frivolous lawsuits but real money is never paid to actual victims and instead, line the pockets of greedy insurance companies like Progressive and their lawyers!

A driver who was covered by Progressive struck my wife. The police report stated that it was Progressive driver's fault. The company waited five days to put me into a rental car which was a major inconvenience for me. In addition, they finally called me stating that they were considering my truck a total loss. In doing so, they made me an offer of $4187.05 which on a truck that has a NADA value of $5650. I have spoken with them several times about the issue with no satisfaction. They say that they do not use book value but have a company get comparables to verify the value of my truck. The trucks that they got comparables on were not in very good condition and most were not even my truck.

I was then asked to turn in comparables that I found, which I did (13 of them) and they said they cannot use them because I searched a radius of 200 miles to find the trucks. At this point, I have heard nothing back from them and do not have a second automobile to drive. This company has treated me very unfairly and I am getting nowhere with them at this point. I even made a counter offer of $4600 + salvage rights to settle, which they turned down. I feel like I am being pushed around and that there is nothing I can do about it. It was their driver's fault. Why should I be put out because of this? The claim number for reference is xx-xxx-xxxx.

I have had Progressive off and on over the years, and filed several complaints. Unfortunately the last one taught me the biggest lesson. I was stopped on a State Highway waiting for oncoming traffic to clear to make my signaled left turn. Just as the oncoming traffic cleared and I had started to turn, a car rear-ended us at +45mph. I had a young passenger in my car and was so involved with worrying about him. Talking to the police on the phone, I did not see the driver of the other vehicle actually drive off! Unfortunately even though I knew I only had liability insurance, this not-at-fault accident counts against me with my policies in the future.

That is my story, nothing Progressive was at fault for, and I knew this was the case because I read my policy from bow to stern! Something the majority of the bogus complainers seem to have failed to do. Are there some legitimate complaints here? Absolutely! When this occurs the very first thing you need to do if there is substantial money and injuries involved is contact an attorney. But foremost is to thoroughly read your policies prior to having an issue in the first place!

Collision coverage is being denied and I am being held responsible for my recent auto accident. Incident: On Saturday, November 12 I got into an accident with another vehicle. I was later told by Progressive that my policy will not cover the accident if I was at fault.

Error: 6 months ago, I changed the policy to comprehensive coverage. I have been paying higher premiums ever since. I have now been told that comprehensive does not cover collision. I attempted to get this resolved through customer service; however, I was transferred to what I was told as the wrong department and then was put on hold for an extended amount of time while they found the right person. I couldn’t wait on hold any longer and had to disconnect. I later emailed the address on their website and was denied help. I have been with NJ-Progressive since I moved from New Mexico. New Mexico comprehensive insurance includes collision. I was not advised by Progressive that comprehensive does not include collision in NJ, as it does in other states. I have been a responsible customer and have always paid my premiums on time, as well as add more coverage to my policy. I would appreciate assistance in this matter.

Progressive insurance claims reps, I don't know how you sleep at night! Last Feb. 13, 2010, I was involved in an accident where a man on his cell phone crashed into me in the median lane. He took all blame at the scene then revised his statement to the police. 2 weeks later, I received a ticket in the mail for improper left turn. Of course, I contested the ticket. When the other party failed to appear to verify his claim of what happened 3 times, they finally dismissed it. I requested my PIP to be opened as I have liability (which covers my PIP: personal injury protection). They sent me to a biased doctor for an IME (medical examination) which I said I didn't want to go to because they, in sense, work for progressive.

When I did not hear back for over a month and could never reach my rep when constantly calling, I finally got a hold of my rep today (Richard ** **!). What he told me shocked me. He said the doctor said nothing is wrong with me (go figure, biased doctors!). I am a young 25-year old male with my whole life to look ahead too. My life was forever changed on Feb. 13, 2010. I fight back pain everyday and can never sleep at night. I went to a BS chiropractor for a few months and stopped because that crap is a hoax and put me in more pain I felt. Also, I went to acupuncture for over 4 months as it helped a little at times, which they have documented. May I mention that I did everything in my power to help alleviate my pain (walks, stretches, core exercises, stretching in warm saunas, swimming, new furniture, bed, etc.)

I don't know how these people sleep at night. I hope these blood-sucking, inhuman ** get the karma they deserve. I am deeply saddened and my back injuries have made me depressed, literally. I can't do any of the things I used to and I feel so enraged right now. It's a sad world we are living in that people can make money off another's misery. Karma will come back around to you one way or another.

He then stopped in which I stopped and then starting to back up. I honked my horn to tell him I was behind him and he hit the front of my car. He knew he was at fault and since it was my word against his. There were people in front of the business but nobody came forward as witnesses. The police came but since it was on private property, they could not do a police report.

I filed a claim with Progressive the next day. So on Dec 28, I called and didn't get an answer from the adjustor. Then, today I called again and they told me that they only found the guy who hit me only 10% at fault. The adjustor told me that they had a witness who worked at the business where it happened and they said that I was on my cell phone. That was a total lie because if I was on my cell phone, I wouldn't have stopped and honked my horn. He also stated that they had pictures.

I asked him when they interviewed the "witness" and he said Dec 28th. So a week and half goes by and now of a sudden there is a witness!? I asked him for the statement and I have not heard back from them. I am very frustrated at how low Progressive is. I have to come out of my pocket to pay for what this man did to my car. Oh and I was sending my pictures to the adjustor and he gave me a bogus email! I'm so through with this! God don't like ugly and for all those involved in this will get what they deserve!

They want to give us less than $3000 for a truck we can't replace for that amount. We were told to find them proof of market value and what we found was an average of $3500. Trucks comparable to ours are selling for $4000 or more. They can take low ball truck values from out of state but they won't honor the truck values we showed them from out of state. Our truck was an older one that was well maintained. All we want is what we consider a fair amount to replace what was reliable transportation.

ON 9/28/2011, my fiance was on his way to work when he encountered construction on the interstate. He was sitting at a complete stop when a Progressive insured driver hit him at a rate of speed that exceeded 45 mph. My fiance was injured and we sought same day treatment for his injuries. The same day, the claims specialist from Progressive called to get a recorded statement. At that time, I informed her that we would not be signing medical authorization forms but would provide all needed information. The agent became rude and combative, and we terminated the conversation. My fiance had to see a specialist, schedule an appointment to get an MRI and return to the emergency room.

He missed several days of work and several nights of sleep because of the injury. I called the claims specialist once we began to receive medical bills, I ask her what information she needed. She stated I should make copies of the medical bills, pharmacy expenses and documentation regarding lost wages. I obtained all of that information and sent the package. Two weeks later, I still hadn't received a call or any mail from Progressive. We called to follow up and our agent was not in the office, we called again and she was on vacation. Finally we were able to reach her and she stated that she had not began processing our claim because she needed procedure codes and physicians' notes. This was not requested when I initially asked what information was needed.

Frustrated, I spent another day visiting each doctor and obtaining procedure codes and physician notes. I sent this information via certified mail. Today my fiance called and was told that we did not send billing numbers and that 'It's Christmas, everyone is submitting their claims and your claim is now at the bottom of the priorities list' by our claims specialist. I then called and asked what the difference was between a billing number and an invoice or account number which are present on the documents I sent. I could not get an answer. The customer service representative then began arguing that I had not sent the forms. I told her that I had sent it certified mail and because of the incompetence thus far, I had kept copies of all documents sent in the exact order that I had sent them.

I asked her to retrieve the packet so I could go through the documents with her page by page. I knew I had sent the information for that specialist. The customer service representative became rude and defensive on behalf of the claim representative. I asked for a corporate number because I had previously spoken with the office manager, who was unconcerned and dismissive, and was told that she didn't have to provide that information to me. I found Progressive on Facebook, posted to their wall and Brittany commented on my post and provided an email address to send my information and claim number. Within an hour I had sent that information, 15 minutes later, I receive a voicemail from the branch manager who I had previously spoken to, and gotten nowhere with, in the message, he was argumentative and defensive. He suggested I return his call so he could provide clarification regarding the process.

Progressive has continuously impeded the process by not providing a list of information needed, 'misplacing or failing to receive' our documents, claiming that information sent is not the correct information, etc. Short of notarizing each piece of paper I send to them and sending that certified mail, I don't know what else to do. I have requested a new claims representative or office to deal with because of the problems with our current office, and the request has been ignored. In addition to the bodily claim injury stress and incompetence, we also had to wait 45 days for our property damage to be repaired. Our claims representative, her manager and the entire company have no concept of customer service. Short of obtaining legal counsel, which is terrifying after reading the consumer affairs complaints on this company, I don't know how to resolve this issue.

I am the only advocate, I have and/or can afford. It seems that there should be a third party involved just to be sure that things like 'lost documents' and failure to request all needed information in a timely manner doesn't occur.

On October 24, 2011, I was driving down I-85, running some errands. When I ran into a large piece of retread debris in the road, as I attempted to avoid the debris, but it was to large and it was was unavoidable, which struck the bottom of the front underneath of my vehicle and my front tires. Immediately, I got off at the next exit. I got out, looked and could see damage to the front of my car. I then called Progressive and filed a claim. Lewis ** from Progressive met me at Wilbanks Body Shop in Cornelia to asses the damage. It wrote everything up and was extremely nice. He stated that I could take the vehicle to anyone I wanted to to get the damages fixed, and he printed me a check for the amount of the damage less the deductible. I then took the car to the shop that I normally use and got the damages fixed.

Once I went to pick the car up, I noticed that the car was shaking and vibrating pretty bad while driving between 40 to 50 mph. So I called the body shop and Randall ** told me to bring the car back and he would ride with me down the road to see if we could figure out what was wrong with it. I then took the car, we rode down the road and he stated, "The problem has to be in either the tires or the wheels." So I then took it to Tim's Automotive off Hwy 115 in Clarkesville. They tried to balance all the tires, but was unable to completely balance the two front tires because the wheels were warped. I then called Progressive to let them know about this damage and they let me speak to Nathan. Nathan told me that he needed to come out to the shop and check the wheels to make sure they were actually warped. He went out, called me and said that he verified that the wheels were warped and that he would pay me for 2 wheels.

I then told Tim's Automotive that I wanted to purchase the two wheels, and they said that I could get them from a junk yard for $50.00. Then I noticed that amount was all that Nathan had given me. My vehicle is a 2009 Chrysler PT cruiser with approximately 30,000 miles on it. I did not want to put junk yard wheels on my car. So I called Nathan to express my concerns and he wanted to know why I didn't want to put used wheels on my car. I told him the way I felt about it. He was very unprofessional, he told me, "I am doing you a favor my fixing your car." He was talking down to me and like I was trash or something. So I refused to talk to him anymore. He then called me and left me a voicemail stating that they would pay for the new wheels. But he didn't think that the wheels was all of my problem that he thought it might be in the tires, and to call him back once we put the wheels on the car to let him know if that fixed the problem.

Unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem and I called him back. He then stated that he wanted to test drive the car that there may be a problem with the front end. I didn't feel that there was a problem with the front end, so I was at Tim's Auto and Tim stated that he could put two new tires on the car to see if that stopped the shaking. So I said, "Go ahead, I would like to see if that fixes it." Well, it did fix the problem. So I called Nathan to tell him that I figured out the problem and thought he would be happy, but no he was irate because I had put two new tires on my car and didn't let him test drive it first. So knowing how he treated me to start with and the way he started talking down to me again, I just hung up and called the customer service department and they gave me the phone number to his supervisor Larry ** and apparently Nathan had already spoke to Larry because he was upset with me as well and stated that he didn't want to pay anything because I didn't let me look at the car first.

Well, I called the customer service number back and they gave me another person's name to call. His name was Chris **, the boss of Larry **. Chris was nice, but told me that he wasn't going to pay for the tires even after inspecting them because he didn't feel the damage to the tires came from the accident. The certified mechanic at Tim's automotive stated that the tire damage was from the wheel being warped. I am very unhappy and I want this complaint resolved. My tires were about 30% to 40% worn but I feel like Progressive owes me at least 60% to 70% of what I paid for the tires. It's really not that much money to loose over a lifetime customer.

However, I was in for a bigger surprise when I called Progressive to inform them about the incident. First off, they called me in for a recorded interview in which I complied with.

At the interview, I was interrogated for 40 minutes. I was then interrogated another 3 more times after that along with a family member of mine! What Progressive failed to tell me when I signed my premium was that I had to verify my address and have a proof of my medical insurance which neither was an issue but I was informed a week after my first initial payment that my policy could go up if I didn't have those documents in ASAP! So, I called my agent and told him that I could fax my medical card information that day. However, by me just moving to a different address that they would have to wait a couple weeks for me to fax over my check stub with my current address. He said that it was okay and not a problem. Of course, until this happened!

Even though I faxed in all my documents verifying my address, they are now saying that based from the interview of my boyfriend and neighbors that I falsified information and they are denying my claim! I keep my car in a garage at my apartment complex so of course, my neighbors wouldn't see it often! Besides, I just moved in along with I only had the car for 3 weeks! This company is fraudulent and needs to be out of business and employees who work for them ought to be ashamed. How can this company do this? I carry full coverage on 4 vehicles. My daughter was hit in the back bumper by a SafeAuto customer in March 2011. They paid the claim and we fixed the bumper with the check SafeAuto sent us. In September 2011, a guy hit her in the bumper again. Since it was a busy street, he convinced her to leave the scene of the accident and pull into the parking lot of IHOP on the side of the street where the accident occurred. Don't ask me why. She knows better.

Once they pulled into the parking lot of IHOP, the male driver that ran into her drove away. She called the police department in Edmond, OK where she is a college student in her 4th year. The officer filled out the accident report and it is on file with their department. I contacted Progressive immediately after I spoke to my daughter about the details.

Late in October, I began to get phone calls from a Jennifer Hess in Progressive's Claim Department. She wanted me to provide her with receipts and photographs of the previous March accident. I have no photographs of the vehicle after we repaired the damage that SafeAuto paid us for. I have no receipts either because a family member buffed out the damage to the bumper and we paid him cash. He does not have a business or shop that he works out of.

On November 26, 2011, I received a notice that Progressive was closing this claim because I didn't provide them with pictures of the March incident after the damage was repaired. I have paid and carried full coverage on all my vehicles for 34 years and have yet to encounter any company that required their customers to take pictures of the damaged vehicle before or especially after the damage has been repaired. I have spent 2 months trying to work with Progressive to no avail.

Do you have any suggestions? Isn't it their job to photograph the vehicle if it is so important to them? I have pictures of the damaged vehicle which I provided but no pictures of the vehicle repaired. I never have photographed a vehicle after a repair and I have never been asked to do so.

A little over 2 weeks ago I was rear-ended by a Progressive- insured driver. When they determined that my car was totaled, they offered me a settlement amount that was $1500 below NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association the accepted guideline used for determining used car value among most auto dealers and insurance companies) and $1200 below Kelly Blue Book price (a more commonly known pricing guide used by consumers). When I questioned the amount they told me that was their offer and they would not budge on the price. Take it or leave it.

They furnished me 5 comparable cars and their prices they used to determine the value of my vehicle. First: All 5 vehicles were selected from either a buy here, pay here corner lot dealers or from individuals in the Trading Times magazine. When I contacted the sellers of these vehicles I discovered the following. One car needs (in the words of the dealer) a complete paint job it was totally weathered from the Florida sun. When I asked if it could be buffed out he commented absolutely not, it needs a paint job. Another had substantial rocker panel damage on the passenger’s side that amounted to a minimum of $1000 to repair. A third had a rather worn cloth interior with minor stains. Mine had mint leather interior. The other two were from advertisements from 2 months ago, and had been sold.

Now for the real kicker when they priced these cars they did not use the price listed in the ad as their value. They assumed the dealer would take 15% less than listed and only offered me that mount for my vehicle. What a rip off. This company is beyond conniving they are absolutely dishonest. They offer unsubstantiated values (with no documentation to back them up) and refuse to negotiate or even listen to your arguments to the contrary.

My only alternative was to turn to my own insurance company to file the claim. They are currently processing it, and will issue me a check for my car shortly. They will then subjugate the payment back to Progressive for their reimbursement. If you currently have progressive insurance my suggestion is to change to another company. If you’re thinking of getting Progressive insurance think again. Do you really want to deal with thieves?

I have a video of it and I can't even watch it. Things got a lot worse, as I will write in consequences. He never got the help he needed going through batteries of "Injury Clinics", playing down the seriousness of my husband's injuries. Can you imagine trying to give him physical therapy with these injuries? With my bad health issues to top it off, they just gave us a miserable time arguing over the phone with us. My son's attorney never sued neither the DUI driver or Progressive. We have a witness statement given to the police that saw everything.

I had accident with another Progressive driver but this driver only had liability, whereas for me, I had full coverage! So guess who was said to be at fault?! I was the one hit. Now Progressive is raising my rates by $70/mth and dropping me from all the "supposedly discounts" I received from my initial sign up. When I called in the claim, automatically they assumed I was taking ownership of the accident. And they tried to convince me not to pursue the other driver because it would take so long for me to get my damages paid for. And they said that I should just take my vehicle in for repairs as soon as possible. I waited almost 2 months for them to say well "You were more at fault" and my damages won't be covered unless I pay my $500 deed. But a month prior, I wasn't at fault! Now I’m left disputing this "at fault" accident on my driving record so I can switch to a more reliable provider!

On October 6 of this year, I was involved with a Progressive Insurance. Unfortunately, my own insurance had lapsed the day of the accident. I received a statement from Progressive saying that the damage to the insured was $1,801. There was no invoice or breakdown on what was repaired. I was told that I could pay this amount in cash, credit card or money order. On November 18, I received another letter from Progressive and this time they are requesting that the BMV suspend my license until this claim is paid. But the biggest shock was, the new claim amounted to $2,167! Still no invoice or breakdown of what was done.

I have taken this to my attorney even though I am a paralegal. I need an additional assistance in this matter. Progressive also did not include pertinent information, in fact, they claim that they didn't know what county the accident occurred, my driver's license’s number or my age. For a company who claims they are the best, they sure don't appear to be intelligent in their investigation. By the way, the insured didn't show proof of insurance at the time of the accident.

I enjoy reading these complaints on various companies from time to time. These sites are vital for customers to have a voice and band together at the growing corporate country we live in. Companies are becoming much less accountable and much more hidden behind "customer service walls" and the inability to confront the decision maker.

That being said, I do try to remain objective when reading them and I find insurance company complaints are among the most grossly ignorant and utterly ridiculous of complaints out there. I find the vast majority of people complaining about insurance companies have no idea what they are saying and I can picture a Pabst Blue Ribbon in their hand as they say it.

It's funny how people state things like "they denied me" but do not explain why they were denied and then go on to say how they pay premiums and this is what they get in return. The funny part is for a company to deny a claim or a policy, it takes a tremendous amount of proof or circumstances since the ability to litigate the company is very easy for bad faith cases. You were denied because you didn't pay, you committed fraud, or you ignored the thousand warnings they send, email, text, and call you about the policy.

I compare these complaints to people stating casinos are cheating because it is so hard for the consumer to prove it so they can and do cheat. The ignorance of that is astounding. Do you honestly think a gold mine like a casino or an insurance company is going to cheat you to get a few bucks and risk their billions on getting caught 1 time? If you do, you're an idiot. Plus, a company like Progressive has 30k+ employees, so one evil man at the top won't be able to cheat you without everyone down the chain being on board.

Finally, people/ customers are the crooked ones, certainly not everyone, but a decent minority are trying to cheat the insurance company. Some how insurance got a bad rap in the media. How? Lawyers that's how. Injury lawyers are vicious sharks at the bottom of the legal community barrel and they convince innocent people that insurance will screw them if they don't lawyer up. This increases premiums and gets claims denied when the company was willing to pay something but not a ridiculous amounts lawyers try to get. So keep complaining on these forums and I will continue to laugh at uneducated people's confusion.

No notification, heck they didn't have time to file it, or send notice, or anything else, just boom, you are no longer insured.

I had made my July payment before making the move to Virginia. Mid-month of July, we received a noticed that they had canceled us no reason stated, and no refund of the July payment. To tell the truth, with the customer service provided, I figured I was better off without them and went to State Farm. What gets me, is their latest scam, the snap shot crud. Wow, lets come up with the best invasion of privacy we can, that we can cancel people for the smallest of reasons, and people are doing it. Come on. Think. This is just their way of spying on you, run a light go, 2 miles above the speed limit, and boom, they can cancel you next.

We got lucky. We did have a breakdown mid-trip, contacted Progressive, and told we did'nt have coverage. Thank goodness for people that actually care. The tow truck worked with us for the tow, and the repair bill. If it had been up to Progressive, we would have been left on the side of the road with 3 young kids aged 7, 5, and 3.

Progressive denied this claim, and I'm footing $5,400.00 worth of auto repair, and dealing with small claims court. Then, they use this claim, which should be a no fault accident, because I was stopped at a red light, to claim that my insurance will go up $1,000.00 a year.

So I've paid insurance all year, and not only was I not covered by my insurance, but I am also being penalized for an accident that was not my fault. You suck horribly. I'm a small business owner and I will let everyone know, how shady this company is. I'll tweet it, Facebook it, and notify clients that come in. $5,400.00 in the hole up front, and $1,000.00 per year for the rest of my life? I'm switching to State Farm tomorrow.

There were only a couple of bad spots on the car which were located in the driver and passenger side of the car. However after bringing my car home from the first initial rejection, I was finally contacted to take in for the repairs.

Once I picked the car up the second time, there was damage located in the front of the car that was not there initially. I was told they were rock damages, but if you look at the pictures taken from your representatives you will see no rock damage can create that type of damages. The paint is chip to the white around the driver’s headlight. Then the passenger side inside the fender located in the indention is a white line.

I have no respect for anyone telling me that rock damages caused this type of damages. I actually had the car washed prior to bringing it to the establishment. One other thing, if the car was not driven why someone would change the headlights from auto to manual. I did not have this type of damage on my car in the beginning and I will not accept this type of damage to my car. I want my car repaired. I also have pictures and am willing to take the car and get a second opinion. I refuse to accept the explanation to why my car has sustained damages that are unacceptable.

They must take pictures, look up each item and certify that the items are there in the motor-home. I took pictures looked up each item and gave them a copy but this was turned down. I contacted an appraiser who on her page advertises eBay, and asked how much it would cost to do this. She informed me to do this work and she works with a friend. She gets $175.00 per hour and her friend gets $100.00 per hour. So it would cost $275.00 per hour to have the items like my camera, deck and monitors, appraised to satisfy the requirements of the insurance company. How is it that an insurance company can team up with the state and force poverty? This is out right theft.

The damage to the roof (which was put on brand new in 2010) was extensive to the point that we have had four different estimates--all coming in around $7,000. The house (which was newly painted in April 2011) had significant hail damage and needs to be repainted (according to the Progressive agent who came out), as does our 50" x 55" Morton Building. Plus, the storm broke out a huge skylight in the Morton Building and the heavy rain damaged vintage and antique furniture and items stored in the building.

I wrote down everything that was damaged as I walked around with the agent inside the building. Progressive has sent us a check for a little over $5,000! We will not cash it, and are heading to our lawyer's office. The agent who came to the house obviously did not give the information to Progressive (even though we tried to contact him through phone and email), or Progressive does not want to cover the damages. I wish I would have come to this site first before purchasing through Progressive. We have already cancelled our vehicle insurance with them over this and I would have given them a zero. You really need to put a zero on your choices of rating the overall experience because Progressive does not deserve one star!

Later I received a call from Progressive West. The automobile was repaired while being investigated as to who was at fault. My car was finished with repairs on July 18, 2011. On July 18, 2011, Mr. Lochan called me three times that evening looking for my wife. The third time, I asked him why. He said that he had an underwriter on the phone. He said that he wanted her to take me off the insurance policy because the premium was going up with me on it. I asked him, “Who are you to tell my wife to take me off the insurance?” He said that I was at fault and the rate would go up. I told him I was not at fault and to send in my photos of proof. He said that was what he was going to do. We had heated words and I hung up the phone. I told my wife. She said that she had talked to him and was backing her husband's decision.

On July 22, 2011, I was contacted by PWI. Everything was good and I was not found at fault. I thought no more about it. On September 7, 2011, I was hit by a driver who went through a stop sign. I called Mike Lochan and he did not answer. I called PWI directly and filed a claim. An hour later, I was called by PWI saying that I was not insured. I told them that it was ridiculous, and that I am insured. They said that I've been taken off the insurance policy by Tanika **.

A half an hour afterwards, I fell out and banged my head on the ground. I was seeing doctors, therapists, physical therapists, psychiatrist, and psychologist behind this incident. I've been investigating this on my own. No lawyer would touch it. Mike Lochan (Vijenda Insurance Company LLC-Millbrae, CA-Progressive Ins. ) purposely took me off the insurance policy behind arguments. I gained access of the documents yesterday from PWI. There is no written signature nor electronic signature of Tanika ** on the documents. PWI took face value, the administering of these documents to them without protocol of the insurance broker that contracts with them.

I need help. I need help now. I want to sue Vijendra Insurace LLC-Millbrae, CA (Mike Lochan) and Progressive West Insurance (PWI) for negligence, fraud, and faulty practices not covering clients' interests, and more for damages occurred, pain and suffering. So, we called and they said they canceled us on the 7th! When we asked to reinstate the policy, they quoted us just short of double what the renewal quote listed from two days ago, sighting increased claims in our area! We tried to get some sort of assistance on the phone for 2 hours. They told us that we either pay the increased rate, with no reasonable explanation for the increase, or take our business elsewhere. This includes four vehicles, a boat, and a house. I cannot believe how rude the customer service was and the fact that they would cancel us without any notice, refuse to reinstate our policy, and then try to double our rate on a "new" policy.

I specifically asked if I should pay it as usual. He took my finance company information and said that it was his job to contact my loan holder.

I called again on 8/28 because my car rental was going to end and I wanted to know where the claim stood. I was told that it would be a loss. He was going on a vacation the following week and would start my paper work. Two minutes later, he called and said that my car has been found. When I looked at the car, I was very upset. There was not much body damage but the seats were wet, there were drug residues through out, and the locks didn't work. I didn't have any idea if it would run. I asked how I would know if it was safe. Don't I need someone to inspect it? He said that they were inspecting the car. He also said that he couldn't understand why I was so upset and that I should consider myself lucky. I said, "We can't inspect the car because we are not mechanics."

At that point, my polite interactions with Progressive were done. I was told to figure out where I wanted it taken by the next day. His rude and unprofessional manner made me want to speak to his manager, who has been even worse. I was told this was because all of the discounts that were applied to my policy for the first 6 months did not apply for the second 6 months of my policy. I cancelled my policy a few days before my policy ended and bought a new policy elsewhere for only $40/month and was assured that it would not go up. I was also told that what happened to me is a common theme with Progressive.

After cancelling, progressive deducted $69.52 from my account. I called them and they said that it was a mistake and they would refund it. I reported this to my bank and they cancelled the withdrawal. Progressive is now harassing me online saying that I still owe them $20. I have warned them that I would report them to the BBB and Illinois States Attorney’s office if they continued to harass me. I am still receiving e mails from them and consider it harassment.

I have called a dozen times and every time they give me a different excuse and they wont refund me the money that they over charged.

They increased my coverage which I didn't authorize and by the customer service women and her boss, it is my fault. I even had customer service say that my rate went up because there were an increase in claims in my area. So basically, I am being charged because people can't drive which has nothing to do with me. My insurance company, Progressive, took my vehicle in to do the repairs. The accident happened on 5/3/11 and it is now 9/16/11. My vehicle is still not fixed, they have returned it to me twice now and said it was done but I found major mechanical issues and unfinished bodywork. When I contact them I get nothing but the runaround and am told to talk to this person, then that person. This vehicle is a major source of income to me. As a result, I am almost bankrupt and they are still charging me my monthly premiums of $4400. Nobody seems to know what is going on. Now after them failing to fix my vehicle right, I took it to my shop. They in turn fixed it after the adjuster examined it. Now they are refusing to pay the bill.

I was driving on an icy road and the road curved, but the ice and snow covered it and there was a lip in the road if you went straight which you couldn't see and when your tire hits it, it will throw you across the road. This happened to me and a pick up truck hit the back of my car. People on that street has been after the city to fix this road for over 3 years. I also tried. They finally have fixed it. I sent a letter to the CEO of progressive and he sent it to the supervisor in Portland. He said I was exceeding the speed limit which was a lie. I was going slow. There has been head on collisions, mail boxes knocked off, car ports taken down, and the city did nothing. Now Progressive has put me at fault on my record and 4 points and doubled my insurance. I am fighting this since I have a clean driving record and I drove an 18-wheeler so I have millions of miles of driving experience. If it was a careless move on my part I will eat this but because it was the city's fault for not taking care of this road way back when, I should not be penalized. I have documentation from this area, pictures of the street, etc. I asked progressive to take the fault off my record and they won't so I will fight this for the rest of my life, if need be. I will not go away ever. My new insurance rate is more than I can pay. They are the worst of the worst. I may talk to an attorney, at some point.

We have been a client of progressive for almost one year, we pay our premium directly from a checking account, and we never had a claim before. Since they asked for the POA, which we hesitated on filling out, our car was found and the thief was arrested, and he was even convicted and given one year in jail.

Now, our car only needs some work done rather than a total loss. I told my adjuster that I didn't want to sign the POA because it can only hurt my credit and now that they know for a fact that it was a real stolen vehicle, I was hoping to avoid any more damage to my credit, if possible. Progressive's answer to us was that they will drop our claim if we do not send them the signed powers of attorney a.s.a.p. During one phone call, they even told us that if we can get a conviction out of the NYC courts then the credit history wouldn't be necessary.

Well Progressive, you got your conviction, so how about now you do what you promised! I need my car back in perfect condition. It is our only car and we need it to take our son to doctor's appointments, several times a week.

So I let them find one, after mentioning I found one. I didn't mention where (Baker Jackson). This is now the third attempt at fixing this bumper and they are not living up to their agreement nor their expectations.

The employee has been very rude and it seems they are all hard of hearing when it comes to details. The adjuster himself was a complete idiot that would not stop calling my wife after the fact she already sent him an e-mail telling him to stop and contact our lawyer regarding any future discussions. Good thing we did not take it beforehand or we would be in small claims wasting our time on this. Ridiculous. They even tried to settle the claim the moment we first walked through the door with an embarrassing number to even a tail light break, if she had one.

If I could rate this experience as zero I would! My heavily pregnant wife hit a deer about six weeks ago. All was good to start with because we just had the vehicle towed to the repair shop. Then the lies started.

First of all, we were told it would be just a few days until we would be back on the road. Then maybe a couple more days, well a week and a half later, we finally got the truck back. All looked good until we drove it. My wife was dealing with the agent at this point, when he became rude to her, I took over. I was speaking to the agent's boss and he arranged for the truck to go back to the repair. We then got it back after a few days and still the same, and it even got worse, the lights turn off when you put the blinkers on, the battery has loose connectors and we have two horns.

I called to complain and was handed back to the same agent who now says it may not be due to the accident. Well it did not do it before. I finally managed to get it back to the repair shop and spoke to the owner who was very defensive and pretty arrogant at this point. That was the third time and guess what? Still the same problem! I was pretty annoyed at that point so I took the truck back again and asked for a rental as this is not our fault that it had to go back to the shop again. The agent tells me there were not rentals left in town so I called a couple of companies and they said they have plenty. We just got the truck back for the fourth time and it sounds worse than ever.

I had liability insurance on a Mustang with coverage for several years with Progressive. I purchased a 2004 Mazda and added to my policy but had to add full coverage due to the loan I added on May 13. My renewal was on May 23rd. They told me it would be $233.48 then $178.13 after that, for 5 months. No problem. I then sold my Mustang and was able to cancel that liability coverage which gave me a $169.01 credit on policy.

I then had my first monthly payment of $178.13. Everything was going as I was told. Then I got a notice that my next month EFT was going to be $245.75 and $233.00 after that. Of course, I started looking at other companies and found that Nationwide would charge me $135.00 a month, for 6 months. I went ahead and got that coverage and then canceled with Progressive and they refunded a total of $37.29. That meant I paid $620.07 for 63 days of coverage on a policy that I was told would total $1124.13 for two vehicles then subtract the $169.01 for the second that I canceled due to selling$ 955.12.

I went to my local Progressive Office who tried to help me and was very professional. She called Progressive from her office and put me on the phone with them because when she had called to find out about my policy before I got there, even she was confused. I was told on the phone by the representative that I would receive no more refunds because they have a short rate which means, from what I understood, they charge you for the time you had the policy up to after, so they get what they determine they should get for your cancellation. Wow, the fine print that even their Independent Insurance agents aren't aware of.

I'm chalking this up to live and learn but definitely, I would not go back with Progressive.

On July 8th 2011 at approximately 3:20, I was driving down from Hastings, Florida on state road 207, coming from work, when I ran into a large amount of retread debris in the road. As I attempted to avoid the debris, I ran into a larger piece that was unavoidable, which struck the bottom of the front underneath of my vehicle and my front right tire. The debris shot up and out from underneath the right rear of the front right tire. I thought I had blown a tire so I pulled over to check. As I proceeded down the road, I felt the vehicle riding rough, so as I entered East Palatka and up the bridge toward Palatka, the vehicle back fired under the hood several times and as it came within a block from my residence, I had to push the vehicle into my yard.

At around 6:00 or 6:30, I contacted Progressive as informed them that I had run over objects in the road that has rendered my vehicle inoperable and now the vehicle will not start. The Progressive representative stated that just because the vehicle will not start does not constitute an accident claim. I informed the representative that this happened in the scope of the accident and that just because I was not injured does not mean that it did not qualify as an accident, the representative did not acknowledge it as an accident. So I placed the vehicle at Beck Chrysler, Nissan for repairs. I was informed that the timing belt was broken and that the timing belt cover had a crack in it and had to be replaced as well, along with tension control parts for the timing belt. The air vent guard underneath the front of the vehicle needed replacing as well. I explained the accident to the technician and he also stated that this sounded like it should have been listed as an accident and the insurance company should have recognized this as such.

I decided to contact Progressive once again on August 26, 2011 and explain the situation to someone else. At this time, Kristina, the representative, was extremely polite, sympathetic and determined to meet the specifications and commitment of Progressive as she informed me that this was a valid claim and that she did not know why I was misled and asked where the vehicle was located. I informed her that the only thing done correctly was when the vehicle was towed due to road side service and she made sure I was able to receive a renter car due to numerous doctor's appointments which my wife had to keep as it pertains to SSI.

I am having to car pool with someone else since the accident with my vehicle and I have to catch cabs back and forth because my car is being repaired but still in the shop. Jason, the individual who was responsible for the claim, was informed by the technicians that the vehicle was damaged in the accident but for some odd reason he tried to deny having the responsibility to fix the vehicle because he could not find the original call that was made. He stated that they normally record their calls but in this case it was not recorded. Jason contacted me on my cellphone and informed me that they would pay for the air vent guard underneath the front of the vehicle, priced at $432.00 but that I had to talk with the technician to see if the timing belt and cover was involved in the accident in order for it to be covered. Once the technician spoke with Jason and Jason was informed of the cracked timing belt casing, he contacted me once again and stated that the proof was in the pudding and that the claim would be honored. Jason's supervisor, Alex **, decided differently and spoke with Jason; he refused to pay the claim. I had left several calls to his supervisor's number before he decided to call back.

I contacted my lawyer and I was informed that I should speak with Alex' supervisor and inform him of the situation before it has to be legally adhered to. So I decided to go on the internet and file a complaint with Progressive insurance with the attempt of having them mediate and rectify this situation. Jason has acquired the same non-pay attitude that his supervisor has, not wanting to resolve this claim. Jason was informed that I, unlike his predecessor, did record both conversations which he and I had as he stated that he and the technician discussed and come to a conclusion that I had a legitimate claim and that if the claim was accepted and honored when I first contacted them, we would not be having this issue right now. When it's time for me to pay my insurance, I have no complaints at all. I pay what is owed, when it's owed and as a whole, I have high regards for the quality of service that is normally displayed by your establishment and your ability to accomplish all claims in a very timely manner. As much as I hate to, I have had to call about an accident of that magnitude and if the call was taken as seriously as it was reported the first time, I think I would not be hitchhiking a ride to and from the store, as well as to both of my jobs everyday and be with my vehicle, instead of without it.

I am contacting you with the intentions of trying to resolve this matter without anyone having to lose good faith. Jason's supervisor is no certified mechanic and cannot determine the extent of damage such a large part of debris can create just as you and I can't. It appears that he was trying to get the technician to say what he wanted to hear, not what was being honestly relayed to him by the mechanic on what was found, which was the reported damages to the vehicle. How can a person have an accident and part of the damages having nothing to do with the starting up of the vehicle be honored and the damages that rendered the vehicle inoperable. This is being questioned at one point then after the supervisor inserts his opinion, they have not honored anything at all and they have not even contacted me about any final decision to this day. Jason's last word to my wife was that they were still trying to find the unrecorded phone call when they were called initially and this has been at least two weeks since then and since June 8th, I have been without my car. I have spoken to my lawyer and he again reiterated, that I should try to settle this in a rational manner and speak with the complaint department first. This is where we are at this very moment.

I asked them why. I haven't made any claims and nothing had changed from the previous year. She said that they have determined that if my house (bought at $130K--now less than a year later, valued at $115K) was destroyed, they estimated it would cost $216K to rebuild (before this, it was estimated at $166K).

That is ridiculous. That's more than $100K than what my house is even valued at. Needless to say, I'm on a hunt to find new insurance.

Then after taking all my information, she told me they couldn't help me because I didn't have roadside assistance after all. After several more times on hold, she realized that she had pulled up the wrong account and yes, I did have roadside assistance. She told me that she would get a tow truck sent out and would text me within 5 minutes.

Next, I did not receive a text, but rather, 15 minutes later I got a call from a man who told me that because we were 250 miles from Albany, it would cost me $600+ for the tow. I was actually 42 miles from Albany, so once again, I sat on hold until he was able to figure that out. Also, as it turned out, because I was on a limited access highway, I had to have the transit authority pull me off before Progressive could tow me. The representative told me that I should call with the location to which we were being told, as soon as the tower came, so as to reduce wait time. Although I called Progressive immediately, it was such a horrible phone system that I didn't actually get hold of a live person until we were already at the exit. The tower would have been happy to pull us on into Albany, but Progressive would not authorize this, even if I paid out of pocket and asked for reimbursement.

So next we had to wait for the Progressive tow. When it got there, the tower told us that he couldn't pull our car to the dealership because the dealership was not aware the car was coming. Instead, he would have to pull the car to his shop overnight and to the dealership in the morning. Since our car was loaded with vacation things, luggage etc. and we had no idea where his shop was, this was not an option. In addition, the tow truck driver told us that he couldn't take us with him. He was prepared to leave my husband and me at an exit on the highway, 42 miles from home.

At that point, I sent him packing and took up a brand new membership with AAA who took care of us in excellent fashion.

I was involved in an accident on I-10 outside of Pensacola, Florida on 7/31/11. It was raining and as we were coming over a rise, we came upon a vehicle hydroplaning and witnessed him hitting another vehicle. We swerved off road to avoid a collision and ended up at a stand still on the grass in the median. I was on the phone with 911 within seconds. My husband was looking at his his rear view mirror and saw a truck heading for us. We were hit.

Our truck was totaled. The driver of the semi gave Progressive as the insurer. I called Progressive the next morning and tried to report the accident and much to my dismay, I was told that they had no record of policy number, name of truck owner or vehicle. That was very upsetting. Well on Tuesday, after speaking with the FHP Trooper that investigated our accident, the insurance information obtained from the driver was correct. So I called Progressive again and found out that there is coverage, however, they were investigating the claim due to the driver of the truck was not insured. Hello! You insured the vehicle not the driver!

After reading reviews about Progressive, I guess I have just experienced their first stage of the runaround. We were very lucky that we did not suffer life-threatening injuries or killed for that matter. I would say Progressive is very lucky too!

I even one time did the menu for get a quote and someone picked up right away. So they proved they are more concerned about trying to get new customers and do not care about the paying customers they all ready have.

I told the so called customer service agent that if they are going up that much maybe I need to check with other companies. He said he would try and give me a better rate if that would keep my business. When through all the red tape and when it was all over they went up another $79. So I told him put it back like it was and he said he could not do that and I would have to pay the additional premium even thaw a I have a renewal written policy with a cheaper premium.

To me this is nothing shy of bait and switch, which is illegal. Yes I will be switching for sure now and have found rates $500 cheaper!!!!!!! I was at work and a contractor came into my office to get a check when leaving he didn't compensate for the long trailer he was pulling and clipped the right passenger lights and lift gate of my vehicle. I called to file a claim and gave a ton of information, the next afternoon Sierra Smith called and took another bit of information and at the end of wasting my time told me they were not able to reach the insured but the policy number I provided was not active and I should file this with my insurance. I called the insured and they called progressive with me on the phone and progressive told them that they told me that b/c they had not had a claim filed by the insured and didn't want to file the claim without speaking with the insured. she filed the whole claim again for me (the insured) and they gave her the same claim number as they gave me.

So I called them back after she talked with them yesterday and it is 8pm the next day 2 phone calls and 2 emails later still no response. They obviously don't take care of the claims against them. This is horrible, I wasn't even in my car! How fair for me to have to file my insurance because they want to lie, steal and cheat people out of insurance money but they sure want the premiums that they all pay but won't take care of their insured when it is time to!

I recently dropped insurance on my Acura in VA because I was moving to HI but they told me they would give me a small policy until I buy another car in Hawaii, that way there will be no lapse in coverage and I can keep my rate. When I got to Hawaii, I bought a car and notified Progressive that I moved and got another car.

The lady started a NEW policy on me like I was a new customer, therefore my rates went up. I tried to switch to state farm because the rates are cheaper, and I have to show them at least a year of continued coverage with Progressive to get a good rate, and the longer you have been with an insurance company without a lapse, the better the rate. So this lady really screwed me up and it looks as though I have only had insurance with Progressive for a month! So now I'm paying $100 more a month because of someone else's stupid mistake!

I've been a customer with progressive insurance for years, spending enough in premiums that I could afford to buy two cars. When they raised their prices, I stayed with them even though they weren't the cheapest. I thought that over time, a customer builds loyalty points with a service. The more patronage you give, the more service you receive.

Recently, one of my five vehicles I insurance with progressive insurance caught fire. While driving the van, fire came from under the hood. Pulling over, the fire was put out with a fire extinquisher. This saved the majority of the van, but of course several items under the hood were lost to the fire. The van was towed to a trusted and highly rated mechanic, and a claim was filed for fire damage.

Now, despite the fact that there is no evidence or proof that the fire was caused by electrical components, because the fire was "close" to where the electrical box was, Progressive insurance DENIED the claim. You see, even though I have coverage for fire, they have a loophole in case of electrical problems. At the end of the day, they can choose which they wish to follow. Now, though I spend over $13,000 a year with them for insurance, and the bill for the repairs is $3,500, they decided the most prudent business decision was to deny my claim and leave me holding the bill.

The sad thing is that if we hadn't put the fire out, Progressive Insurance would be buy us a brand new $25,000 van plus everything else lost in the fire. Since we put the fire out, saving them money, they stiffed us and left us out in the cold.

This resulted to my sister hurting her back. I went back to my mother's house and proceeded to call and make a claim with Progressive with the information their policy holder had given me. I gave them my information and statement about the accident.

I was then called back on Tuesday, 7/5/2011, by Jennifer ** and I again gave them a statement. I was told that they still had not been able to contact the policy holder and had tried numerous times. She did say that at one point, someone did answer the phone but that it was not the policy holder. I explained to her that my sister had been hurt and how would I go about her receiving treatment and she explained that my sister could go to an urgent care facility since it would be cheaper. Once they determined that their policy holder was at fault, then they would reimburse for any medical treatment deemed necessary due to the accident. I was also given a date and time (Friday 7/08/2011@ 10 am) to take my car to a place called Arseen Auto Body in San Jose, California where I live so that they can assess the damage.

My car was assessed by Elizabeth **. She looked over the damage and gave me a damage appraisal, which cost $620.85. She told me I can now find a shop of my choice to do the repairs. Unfortunately, as of that date, they still had not been able to contact the policy holder so they would not be able to issue me a check at that time for repairs, but would be in contact.

On Wednesday, 7/13/2011 at 4:42, while I was at work, I had a missed call from Jennifer. I then proceeded to return her call at 4:46 and Jennifer answered and she explained to me that my claim was going to be closed because of the fact that their policy holder was not at fault.. They said that he told them that he was hit from behind by another car, which resulted to him rear-ending me and that they had proof of damage to prove it. This was a total lie! When that man hit me, he and I proceeded to get off my car and all he said was to pull into the parking lot where it would be safer, which I agreed and did. He got off his truck and appeared to be really agitated with himself and apologized for hitting me and said in his own words, "My foot slipped off the gas." I figured he meant slipped off the brake. My sister asked if we wanted her to call the police and he didn't want them called but I told her to call anyways, which she did. The police asked if there were any serious injuries. She told them ''no'' so they said that we could just exchange information then. I did let Jennifer know when I spoke to her on 7/05/2011 that I had suspected that he may have been drinking but that he wouldn't get close enough to see if I could smell alcohol on him. I asked what was going to happen with my repairs on my car and she told me that I was responsible for them and that I could contact my insurance company and see if they would pay.

This is really ridiculous! It takes them a whole week to get in touch with him and if he had been hit from behind and had damage, why didn't he contact his insurance right away to report it? Now I really think that he was under the influence of something because he was really overly agitated and probably wanted to wait. Had he been tested, he would've probably test positive for whatever!

My son was backed into in a private parking lot. We do not carry full coverage on his vehicle, however our insurance company found the other driver at fault. We have pictures that clearly show that he was backed into as the back bumper of the truck crashed into the right front fender of my son's car. There is no physical way for this to happen other than being backed into and Texas law states that vehicles backing into lanes of traffic have to do so safely - obviously the other driver was not safe.

The agent from Progressive was rude (Angela Holcolmb from Austin) and was trying to twist my son's words around and make him suggest that he couldn't see what was going on. She had him draw three maps of the accident, yet told him to 'drawl' it. In addition, a witness came to us and said that he saw the entire accident and stated that it was definitely the other driver's fault. When I spoke with Miss Holcomb mid week, she said there was one witness...yet, today she said there were two and the stories didn't agree.

It seems to me that a witness conveniently appeared....All in all, another friend of mine said that Progressive was rolling the dice and guessed that because it was a youth driving, (17 years old - no tickets, no wrecks) that he wasn't covered fully. They were taking a gamble that we didn't have full coverage and our company wouldn't go after the in arbitration.

I have been with Progressive Insurance Company for more than seven years; however, I changed once but went back to them because I felt that it was more comfortable situation for my insurance needs. However, that was not the case at all. I am currently retired, living on disability with a fixed income receiving pay for a particular day of the month, so having my account drafted on a particular day is very important to me.

I have no points on my driving record, and was not aware of their high rates. I am paying more than $900.00 every six months. I was sent letters some are attached with this letter. I explained to the local office that my drafts were being returned because the draft date did not coincide with my or their draft date and I was told by Naomi, that beginning April 2011 my draft date, at my request could change by ten days which would make my draft date near the end of the month which would not have caused returned drafts.

My credit union said that because of so many returned drafts, they would cancel my entire account after more than twenty-five years with State Employees Credit Union, after I spoke with the manager, Steven ** who obviously didn't listen or hear anything I spoke with him about as to why the drafts were being returned, and he even ran me copies of bank statements that involved the returned drafts. Some of my return drafts were the fault of the Credit Union and I plan to address this issue to the proper authorities, because there was a complaint by me to Mr. ** concerning the manager at the Hope Mills Branch which caused a returned draft.

My Mother's name was on my Progressive Insurance about a year or more because of another situation where she was coerced into signing, rather than being the co-signer on a car, and this issue will also be addressed to other authorities. The automobile was repossessed at my request because my mother is eighty-eight years old and has never driven or plan to drive in her lifetime. I addressed this issue to Progressive, but it took over a year to remove her name because the local office said that as long as she is the co-signer, her name would remain on the insurance, and that is when I realized that they didn't hear or listen to me a year earlier when I informed them of the re-possession of the car. Things would be less difficult if people would just listen.

When I called the main office to ask why my draft was not changed, I was told that it would have to be September now because it wasn't done in April as I was told it would be, so I then received a letter stating that I had been over-charged on one of my statements. However, I don't know how much I have been overcharged, I was never given an amount. I received a cancellation notice, because this company hasn't heard or listened to anything I've said to them for more than a year.

Is it fair for me to lose my insurance because of people who should be in positions that they have knowledge of their jobs or one where Senior Citizens, like me, have to be concerned for our welfare because of situations like this should not be necessary in this emotional system?

This letter is the beginning of my many complaints that I haven't been, or had time for this because I chose to care for the elderly after my retirement, and I'm very proud that I did because they seem to be the invisible now. Please address this matter as soon as possible as my insurance is in the process of being cancelled again.

Progressive Insurance is one of the DRPs my shop does repairs for. In fact, we're on the concierge program, which should be illegal. Customers don't realize that when they sign up for the program, they are giving up their right to choose where their car will be repaired, how it will be repaired, and what type of parts will be used.

The adjusters that work at this location are complete morons. They are forcing our shop to repair damage that they recognize as being unrelated to the accident without compensation. The 'rule' they have set for us is, do it or get kicked off the Concierge Program. They are very biased toward a particular local body shop, which happens to be owned by an ex-progressive employee. When our shop is delivering cars, they will make us sit and wait for hours before they even look at our cars and then pick them apart.

While this other shop is being given the royal treatment, taking literally 5-10 minutes for their shop to deliver cars. The adjusters take one walk around this particular shops cars, and gives an okay to the car. They do not inspect at all. A local guy has launched a website, **, hoping to get more people in the collision repair industry to voice their complaints anonymously.

The thing is the people employed by the body shops, are so scared of losing their jobs, that they don't complain. I've joined the site and have voiced some of my concerns. We'll see, maybe it will pick up and individuals like the insurance commissioner, whom I've contacted twice, will actually take notice!

The Progressive Concierge Program is causing a very unfair shift in work flow. The number of redo's they are sending shops (due to unrelated prior damage or just the fact that it's the end of the work day, and they don't feel like delivering a car) is costing shops thousands of dollars. Body techs and paint techs pay has been more than cut in half as a result of this program, as they do not get paid for these unfounded redo's, so they are essentially working several hours a day for free. We now have techs losing their homes and everything they own as a result of the lack of income.

The only thing Progressive fixed was the rear dint and the paint, anything under the truck they don't think they have to fix and was saying sorry we don't think that was related to the accident. All damage to the truck, they would say, "oh, that was there before." The air ride system never worked. My 180k tires put 200 miles on are now 100% bald but that's my fault as well.

I had to replace all the light bulbs in the truck because there was a crack in the rear light. Progressive saw the damage but told the shop not to fix it. She acted like a frustrated attorney-wanna-be and mishandled my claim. From then, the problems continued - until I requested that they transfer my claim to the Irvine Office.

I had to request supervisors and managers in order to have my claim transferred to the Irvine office (I live in Orange County - Irvine specifically). I spoke to a couple of representatives from the Pasadena office who were refusing to transfer my claim to the Irvine office until I was finally able to glean the name of their Regional Manager, Mr. David ********. I sent Mr. ******** a message via email and voicemail and have not heard from him to date; at this point, however, armed with the name of the Regional Manager, they said they would transfer my file to Irvine. I spoke to the manager in Irvine (Dania) and she was extremely helpful. Things seemed like they were going to be alright. My point, however, is that if I had been seriously injured and/or in the hospital, would I still be harassed, intimidated, bullied and told that I could handle my claim directly with Auto Club?? ?

My experience was so stressful and reprehensible yet no one has contacted me to discuss their philosophy at the Pasadena office. Finally, due to an error on the part of Progressive or Auto Club, they paid the car repair in full and sent me a check for the bumper repair. In February, they sent a letter from their subrogation department requesting I return those funds. At this time, I reminded them that they had not yet reimbursed me for the car rental I required while the vehicle was at the shop. Again, no response to my request from Progressive -this time from their Subrogation Department - regarding my rental expense of $346. So, I returned the overpayment minus my car rental expense and sent the check via Fed Ex.

I received a harassing call today from Catherine from the subrogation department - I told her I had been working with JD and would like to speak with him and was told that JD was not available and to let her know NOW what I had sent in the mail; I explained that I sent a check Fed Ex and there was a delay since I wanted to know what they were doing about my car rental expense and she repeated..."again...what did you mail"....over an over she would say this. She was very rude as well - condescending and disrespectful. I have been a Progressive customer for 4 years and have never filed a claim; filed a claim for which I was not my fault and was treated worse than a criminal. Then, they make a mistake in their accounting of payments for repairs and they are yelling at me.

Repair facilities Beware! We own a RV repair business that is mobile and do numerous insurance jobs and recently experienced the worst encounter with Progressive Insurance. The job was very extensive and time consuming. Communication was slow and phone calls not returned. The customer was informed by the adjuster that they should have taken it to a shop because they have the parts in stock.

This company did the he said she said game with the customer, causing conflict. We were not paid for the numerous trips and shorted on documented time because they have been to school and know all about repair time. You must provide a current invoice for all parts with a suggested retail or they will give you what they deem the retail and you will not like it.

If you do a job for this company, be sure to get your check before you start the job. The consumer should be aware that they may end up putting part of the bill when it is not covered by their assigned averages. By fa,r the worst claim experience filed with an Insurance company in the last 10 years. Even their so called "supervisors" are not helpful and do not return calls or follow up on an scheduled date. We are still waiting on the final payment that has been altered numerous times and is still very short. Frustrated!

I had a 3003 Dodge Ram 4x4 diesel with approximately $20,000 of aftermarket equipment installed. I have owned the truck since 2005. Just the past year, I have spent approximately $10,000 on maintenance; more specific, tires $1,800 and new bulletproof aftermarket transmission $5,000, etc. I loved my truck to death! It was my baby. My truck had been stolen three times. First time, they stole the wheels, stereo, etc. Probably a $4,000 loss (no comprehensive on truck, my mistake). The second time, they just took my personal items, the whole truck was intact. Simply a "joy ride" situation and was found the next day. The second time, I reported the truck to my insurance company but did not make a claim. Progressive still had the theft on my record, although they never paid any money out which kind of annoyed me. They didn't raise my rates, which I thought was good.

The third time was devastating. This time, they stripped the entire truck! They took $3,000 wheels and tires interior, stereo equipment and other parts that were not covered under insurance. Probably, $7,000 worth of accessories. This part was annoying. Basically, since insurance didn't pay for these items, I was out again even with comp coverage; not to mention the $5,000 transmission that was still in the truck! At first, I was very discouraged reading all the horror stories of insurance fraud investigators: Stopped payment checks on repairs, denial of claims, etc. I dealt with a lady name Taunya **, who works for Progressive as a Fire Theft Insurance Person. At first, I was frustrated due to the length of time she told me it would take. They requested phone records, interviews, financial statements, etc. I thought, all of this was kind of awkward, but delivered what they asked for without hesitation. I talked to people and they explained she was just doing her job, which I understood.

After doing research online, I came to find out there are people out there being arrested for stealing their own cars, setting them on fire, staging accidents, etc. that cost them millions of dollars! When it was all said and done, they declared that the truck is a total loss and even offered to sell me the truck with a salvage title. It was very tempting to buy the truck back, especially with the $5000 tranny still in it. They wanted too much for the truck for me to be able to put it back together. They paid me via check for the total loss, which I thought was a very generous amount. I will continue to use Progressive and was satisfied overall with the process. Taunya was very professional and timely with communications, and more than fair with the total loss. People have to realize that they are just doing there job and have a regimen that they have to follow in order to keep our rates reasonable. Just be patient and comply with what they ask for. I miss my truck everyday, but after losing so much money on accessories, I don't think I will own such a flashy vehicle that is so attractive to thieves. When I do purchase a new truck, I will make sure my aftermarket parts are insured.
