It was a bait and switch approach taken by Policygenius. They asked all kinds of medical questions, which I answered honestly. Then the website showed fake quotes that my health profile would not qualify for. This was done to entice me to apply and then the true rates would be 100% higher. I do not appreciate the deception.

From the outset, I was 100% forthcoming and transparent regarding my medical conditions, providing every detail requested to ensure an accurate preliminary quote. Despite this complete disclosure, Policygenius provided an initial lowball premium quote that created an entirely false expectation of affordability. I relied on this figure as I moved forward with the application. The deception became clear when the final offer arrived. Not only was the policy quoted at the wrong coverage amount and the wrong term length than what I had requested, but the premium itself was increased by nearly $100 per month—This rate hike was delivered after the medical information had been assessed, confirming that the initial quote was a deliberate effort to lure me into the process.

Don't trust them. Quoted one price, I agreed, and then the price rose. I agreed again, and the agent told me I was pre-approved. I signed the insurance application, but then didn't have the option to pay. I kept checking over the next few days and the status said that my insurance was still being reviewed, even though the agent said that I was definitely approved. Then when it was finally approved, the price went up again and I had this message: "I understand I had an option of a lower first payment amount based on younger insurance age which was valid until 3/29/2025. I agree to make the first payment based on my current insurance age." Except that there was no way for me to make a payment on 3/29 since they had held up the approval.

While filling out the online form to get a quote, they first they said most policies would require a phone call at some point. I asked which policies do not require a phone call since I do not own a phone. They then replied that ALL policies require a phone call. I then had to ask that all my personal information be removed from their website. They said they would review my request. I should have been able to remove my own personal information, which I was not.

I was presented with fake quotes that were lower than what my health qualifies for. They knew about my diabetes history and showed fake quotes. NOT good. People should be 100% honest when showing quotes and this website did not do that. Rather than enticed me to apply for something I could not qualify for.

The estimated rates I was quoted before I applied for life insurance were not even close to the premium on the policy I was eventually offered. My policy premium was three times as much as they estimated. The underwriting process took literally months. This was a complete waste of time and I would never use them again.

I called in to obtain some information on life insurance for my wife who has diabetes. Agent was not properly trained and provided false information to us. Very disappointed to see them try and trick us with fake quotes. This means in reality, the real cost of life insurance would be 3 to 4 times higher than what they quoted me.

Maybe this works for some people, but this is supposed to be an online process. Their advertisement is "Compare and Buy Insurance Online"--just google it and see. So I submit their online information and nothing for several days. Finally one day I answer a phone call identified as "Potential Spam" just to see who has been calling. It's Austega from Policy Genius. First comment from her is to confirm my birthday and zip code. Really? This was supposed to be an online process; and if you want to talk on the phone, then you should have a published number and your agents should provide an extension that can be reached by calling an accepted number. But no; you call me---from a blocked number that Verizon identifies as spam and want me to start answering questions with personal information. How many data breaches have we already had? This is a terrible security practice. I politely told her "no thanks". I'll go elsewhere. Be careful people.

Complete waste of my time.

By the time they did, I had coverage with a different company. The truth is that if the person who interviewed me initially had listened better, he could have given me better advice on the product I needed.

I tried to apply for a life insurance policy, but due to straight-up discrimination, my application was never even submitted. One of the steps is to talk with an agent and go through your medical history. I called and spoke to my agent and we went through a brief questionnaire. During our conversation, I revealed I was on the autism spectrum. He had an audible reaction to this and then asked me "how I experience autism". I gave a brief overview of my symptoms and explained that it doesn't negatively impact my life or my health.

The people at Policy Genius are typically very helpful and kind, so that end of the company is wonderful (and their website is pretty great too). But, the sheer amount of hoops you have to jump through for some of the recommended carriers is insane. I started an application for life insurance to replace an existing policy three months ago, and they still need more information. I'm a generally healthy younger person, and the last experience I had with life insurance took less than a month total. I don't know if it is just a lack of experience on the recommended carrier's end, but unfortunately I can't recommend Policy Genius, as they were the company that recommended them.

Terrific experience. 1) Professionalism of the staff. 2) Easy to do business with. 3) Crisp and Timely communication. 4) I loved the digital experience outside the first phone call. There was not much telephonic contact and that’s the way to do modern business.

Policygenius is truly a great company. They helped my wife and I get a policy within a matter of days. Everyone I spoke with was very helpful and knowledgeable. They help you navigate the different companies and policies. With so many companies out there they make sure they get you the right one for the right price.

Competitive prices and great service. The quotes provided by Policygenius were good and the service rep was patient enough to answer all my questions. I had more quotes from other vendors and Policygenius was able to check with the same vendors and provide a competitive price.

Quick responses. Got my life insurance approval quickly. They worked well with my doctor to get everything completed. Let me know if anything else was needed. You have to do work too. Follow up and make sure you are doing your part.

Everyone I spoke with from the beginning to the end of the process was kind, knowledgeable, helpful, understanding and genuinely a pleasure to work with. I normally dread working with people over the phone, and I have a very low tolerance of call center type attitude. At no point during the process was there anything but help and positivity. I was kept informed and regularly updated throughout the long underwriting process.

Working with Policygenius was easy, convenient, and I would recommend to anyone seeking life insurance. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, I did not want to go to an insurance office, or have the agent come to see me. All interaction was via phone, and online. Highly recommend!

Don't do business with dishonest company's like Policy Genius. We went through the entire process and were approved, but then Policy Genius wanted us to pay a premium 9% higher than the original price. We specifically asked if there would be any changes to the quoted premium if we were approved for the rate after the medical exam. We were assured there would be no changes. Total lie. Our medical exam came back perfect and we were approved at the same level as the original quote. The entire process was problematic. It shouldn't take 4 months to get life insurance. Don't waste your time with these swindlers.

I am happy with the overall experience and in particular the frequent updates Policygenius has provided. The one area for improvement is in matching summary information about policy data with the actual data in documents provided by the insurer. In my case, there was a discrepancy in the payment due date for my first payment between Policygenius' summary email and the actual insurance document and schedule. It took me some time to sort this out.

I highly recommend Policygenius for shopping for life insurance. Shopping for life insurance seemed like an overwhelming task when I was searching for rates on my own, but Policygenius saved me a lot time on researching policies and rates, and Policygenius stayed with me throughout the long process of applying for life insurance. Policygenius was very helpful in working with my policy application.

Lastly, the underwriting, it may take 7-10 days and you will get covered after that. Strongly recommended.

I had a wonderful experience working with the PolicyGenius team. They were patient, not pushy, and really helpful when I had inquiries. I worked with my insurance agent that insures my home and auto for a policy, and that experience was much less positive. So here's to the good folks at Policy Genius and I would definitely recommend trying. No reason not to!
