I was originally given a quote for liability insurance for $28.32 per month. Wow, that sounded awesome and could afford that, no problem! So I called and accepted this offer but when I asked about the total payment to get policy active I never got an answer. I asked for this total 4 more times and never got an answer. Finally when I called and said I was ready to make payment and begin the policy I was told my 1st payment would be $59.40. I made a payment of $60 and then they sent the documents via email and thinking that math didn't add up right. I saw a $25 policy fee was added on but was never informed of any fees.

Looking at future payment, my $28.32 had changed to $37.32 and each payment had a $3 fee attached. That was a lie and the next month when they sent the only monthly statement my charge went up to 42.32 and the fee was $9 per month and pay off was $180. I just got a notice that informed me my payoff is now $202 but didn't tell me what my next monthly payment. Almost forgot, there is also a $5 fee if you use a debit card but if you give them your banking accounts they will waive that fee. I will be calling the rep that signed me up but already know I will get his voice mail. They won't be getting any more money from me and if there is any legal action against this company you can believe I will sign up.

Let’s see where should I start. So I was covered my Mendota full coverage for both my vehicles. I got rear ended. I thought great at least I have insurance... wrong. I tried calling their 24 hour line and got nothing but the welcome message. I tried for hours to make a claim! So I waited till the morning to call. Well to my surprise I call the next morning to get told that my policy was cancelled due to non-payment. Never got a notice until it was too late. So I start going through my bank account. It was taken out. Now here is the funny thing I have a payment receipt. How is it right as I go to file a claim that very day my insurance got cancelled? I tried talking to the company and they were very rude about the whole situation. It looks like I am out that payment. This company has very poor customer service. They will cancel your policy as soon as someone hits you. I don't recommend anyone use them. They are a scam.

My SUV was hit & run by this insurance's customer on Apr 15, 2018 when my vehicle was parked in Southern California, I had eye witness and Police report, and he admitted to police that he hit and damaged my vehicle. Mendota assigned an adjuster in Nashville, TN, after I filed a report, I made multiple phone call and voice messages to the adjuster, she took more than a week to call me back to arrange vehicle inspection. The local vehicle inspector took more than necessary pictures and collected extra information which was not necessary.

I got my local body shop quoted repair cost $724.83, Mendota quoted $456.88 only. I called and emailed to adjuster multiple times, explained the labor rate had big difference between California and Tennessee, they simply close my case. They sent first check to the wrong address, after 3 more weeks, again multiple phone calls and emails, finally they sent me a check with correct address on the envelope, and wrong address on the check. This is the nightmare, the worst auto insurance I have ever deal with.

Went to make my last payment of $170+ for final payment on my insurance. It's almost time for a new policy so it had another option to pay last payment and renew at the same time at $345.00. Well I picked just current bill payment. It had the $345 in a grey area making it look like it wasn't picked but the current payment was in bold black. I said pay and instead of it saying, "Are you sure you want to pay $170" it just said paid $345. So now I'm out that extra money that wouldn't have come out until the end of July. My husband was injured on the job a year ago so money is tight. So beware of the greyed out area when making a payment.

I haven’t been with Mendota Auto Insurance that long. We pay our insurance through an agent friend of ours. And when we do talk to them they’re rude. They never are willing to explain or discuss anything we ask. This company has major issues in its staff. I would say go to another place. Everything about this company screams, “We don’t care. Just pay us and shut up.” The guy way overcharged us then when we called him on it he called my wife a liar. So we showed him the proof and he said it was our fault. I don’t like Mendota, every time we talk to them it’s always "you’re wrong we’re right. Now shut up and move on." They totally suck.

Cheapest policy that I found and I shopped around a lot before choosing my company. I would recommend Mendota to help save you money. However, they only offer a 6 month policy to members. The customer service department is not much help since mostly everything is done in their website. So far I have been happy with Mendota except that if you add a vehicle or drop a vehicle you have to pay a large deposit. Also the only way to get the best price for your policy is you have to have a card on file. I wish they offered a year policy. It might cost more for a year but would be better in the long run.

Mendota is by far the cheapest insurance company that we could find for our two cars. We found it thru a local broker and have been using them for 2 to 3 years or so. However, I do not like the fact that they bill me different amount each time. They send a small forest thru the mail. And both times we needed them because someone hit us. They didn't seem to have any ** to give us. Also, most of the time when we call them they don't know who we are, many times they have sent us notices stating our insurance was going to be dropped due to nonpayment even though the payment went thru. I am looking into other companies for this service.

I don’t understand how if I live in the same city and same town that I did 6 months ago but my rates change without even being in an accident or any type of involvement.

Step one, wait, step 2 wait, step 3 initiate contact repeatedly so that you may given instructions on how to prepare your own claim i.e. get a password, a phone app, submit pictures to a third party company, wait, step 4 beg for an estimate, step 5 beg for details pertaining to rental, step 6 beg to not have to be out of pocket for rental, step 7, deal with the low ball estimate. I'm currently stuck at this point. How long will this company be an ongoing concern? Having to slide in and out of my truck for over a month has been nightmarish. They want me to be out of pocket for rental and then review rental costs for reimbursement? Hmmm. A true spectacle for a regulatory review board.

The day after the claim we took a trip and was unavailable for 7 days. When we returned home I received 3 notifications from Mendota. I called our adjuster and was promptly connected. Ninel was very professional and quickly assigned an outside adjusting firm who came the next day to look at the damages. We were advised we would be contacted in 48 hours. We spoke again with Ninel, she reviewed the estimate and sent it to be approved. We received our check 3 days later. This situation was handled quick, efficient and very professional. It is now 03/01/16, and I have not once spoken to the adjuster assigned to me. I received a dumb email stating the name of the adjuster and a phone number to contact her, but I've never been contacted by Yoselin. I called her twice last week, and twice this week and have not heard anything. I finally got fed up and called their CSR department and asked to speak to their supervisor. They connect me with a supervisor, Tim, who's not even in the same office as Yoselin. He proceeds to take all my information over again and said that I will receive a text about some app where I could submit photos of the damages to my car. I haven't even received that text yet!!! I said that my frustration is that I was told that I was going to speak to an adjuster and nothing.

In an email, I was told that I was going to get my car inspected and NOTHING. Basically, by sending me this information about an app, then I would speed about the process for them. So as a policyholder for them, I'm doing their job for them??? This is so freaking ridiculous, and it's so embarrassing. The damages to both vehicles are minor, so I don't understand why they're dragging their feet. The faster they fix it, the faster I'm out of their hair. Tim said that once I upload these photos, then I would hear something within 2-3 days, but how the ** am I supposed to upload these photos when he gave me NO instructions? This is beyond ridiculous. Definitely planning on leaving ASAP. It's cheap insurance but you will end up with a bigger loss if something happens to you. They're going to run this business to the ground.

WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER!! My dealership "recommended" Mendota 3 years ago and I have been a LOYAL customer always making my payments on time NEVER lapsing or late. My payment was due on the 13th and since it was a Sunday and I couldn't call to make a payment when they are closed, I called Monday morning the 14th and paid. I asked if it could please be backdated since I made the payment as soon as I could the next business day and they REFUSE to do so. Not only that, my payment wasn't considered processed until today which makes it a 2 day lapse and now DMV is issuing me a $502 fine for both mine and my mother's vehicle!!

I am a divorced, single mother of 2 children and make less than $10 an hour and this fine has to be paid in full, RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!! They absolutely could have backdated my coverage to avoid this fine but these greedy, heartless S.O. B's couldn't care less that my children's holiday is now ruined even though I cried and begged them to please do something to help me. They just don't care and are not willing to help a loyal customer. I have been paying close to $200 every month for almost 3 years and FOR WHAT???

They lost a loyal customer and caused me so much grief and stress. I do not have the $502 fine that DMV wants and it's come down to either not pay my rent or my children do not get a Christmas this year and I will not lose my home because of this. So my 2 children will be heartbroken this Christmas because their mom was terribly let down by her insurance company. They will never get another penny out of me!!! I am absolutely switching companies and will be warning everyone how terrible they are!!

My attorney sent a demand for 46,000 and they are offering roughly 8,000 for me and my children for a hit and run. I am so jumpy when I drive, I can barely do so. The adjuster was rude, the customer service sucks, and they are crooks. They are "reviewing" a case because the driver wasn't their insured, but the car was their insured vehicle. Mendota Insurance has without question the worst customer service I have ever witnessed in my 54 years on this planet. If you are lucky and never have an accident, the price is very cheap. This insurance will prevent you from getting a ticket. That's it. If you ever have to file a claim, prepare to hire an attorney to get any help.

I've been unlucky the last few months with 2 cars and it's not a fault of my own. My first one was flooded out due to 10 inches of rain in a 2 hr period. I was at work and several other cars suffered the same fate. I immediately called Mendota. I was put on hold for nearly an hour. A rep finally answered and took my information. I was then told it would be forwarded to an adjuster who would contact me via E-mail. I told the operator, "What is this kind of service? Legitimate insurance companies don't work like this." Needless to say, repeated calls got me nowhere. I finally gave up and traded the damaged vehicle in for a new car.

Exactly one month after owning this car I was rear ended by a person who had no insurance. I called again to file another claim. I am "still waiting on a E-mail". This time I had enough and hired a lawyer. It's to the point I don't care if my car get fixed. I want to help put this company out of business. You know the saying. "You get what you pay for." Filet Mignon cost more than flank steak. Mendota is below flank steak when it comes to insurance companies. They happily take your money, but do everything under the sun to prevent paying when they have to.

Mendota Insurance needs to be reviewed by the Minnesota Better Business Bureau. On December 11, 2015 I had an auto accident with one of their insurers in San Diego, California. For weeks I tried to communicate with their claims adjuster Mark **. He never returned my calls. The person with whom I had the accident admitted guilt in causing the accident and said this to my insurance claim adjuster. Just today I got a notice that my claim for full reimbursement of my deductible was only going to be processed for 80% of my out of pocket costs. In looking at the other comments made on Mendota Auto Insurance in this link I see that there is a common thread to their business practices. They delay communication and do not support their claims as they should. Mark ** should be an embarrassment to the industry.

This is the worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. First, their driver hit me. I waited to be contacted by a rep. After 2 months of being ignored by Mendota after sending several emails I finally had my truck fixed and paid for the repairs myself. The accident happened in September of 2015 and today is February 29th 2016. I sent the receipts from the Auto repair company 3 different times to my contact at Mendota. Each time she says she lost them. On the 4th time I refused to send them to her and told her to check her email. This went on for months. She did find my emails after weeks of being Radio Silent but now we have another hurdle. They are now requesting that the auto repair company send a receipt from their supplier showing what they paid for the bumper. My repair guy has sent the information which has been lost by Mendota.

We are now on 6 months for a claim less than $800. Mendota representatives must get bonuses for every time they "kick the can" down the road. If my employees treated people like this I would fire them. I don't know who runs the organization but he/she is either a crook or incompetent. Neither an admirable trait. If you get involved with this group put the pressure on immediately and call your District attorney and State insurance board right away. They will string you out for months hoping you disappear.

I want to share with you how my family's life has changed since May 19, 2015. On May 19, 2015, my car was hit from behind on my way to work by a MENDOTA insurer. At the accident, I called 911 and she admitted it was her fault, she told me and the Norfolk Police officer she was reaching in her bag and was not paying attention. MENDOTA insurer called me the day after the accident to ask me how I was feeling. I told her I was hurting and that I went to the ER and I wanted my car fixed. She assured me that her mother's insurance company, Mendota, knew about the accident.

I went to Virginia Beach General ER the day of the accident and was told I would feel worse before I got better. I was given pain medication and sent home. I had neck and arm pain on my left side. That night I awoke with shooting spasms up and down both my arms. I went back to the same ER, a day later, complaining of the same pain but it was now worse. Initially, I was out of work for four days. I work as an Outreach Worker, I do home visiting and my job requires me to have my own transportation. The body of my car was shaking and hesitating to accelerate. I made a report with my insurance company, AIC of Maryland, the same day of the accident. I called MENDOTA Insurance Company personally, after a week of my insurance company, AIC of Maryland trying to reach them and they couldn't. I was able to talk to someone, who gave me a report number.

I received a rental car from my insurance company AIC, a week later after the accident, because I put my car in the shop thinking it was going to be fixed, but I would have to pay the deductible. I am a single parent of two kids and I have no family here in Virginia, my eldest was graduating from high school, in June 2015, which graduation is costly, so I did not have the money for my deductible, so I had to give back the rental car and I had to pay for my own rental car to get back and from work. I live at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront and work in Norfolk, VA.

I only got a lawyer because I was getting nowhere with MENDOTA Insurance and neither was my insurance company. It was only when my lawyer contacted MENDOTA Insurance, in the middle of June 2015, that they decided that they would pay for a rental until my car was fixed, but my car had been at the collision shop since a week after the accident, May 19.

When I found out that my car was a total loss in the middle of June 2015, I was devastated. This caused more problems. I had to give back the rental and now I had no car. I had only had my car less than 2 years and if MENDOTA Insurance Company paid off the car, I wouldn't receive a dime of the money, because the payoff amount was the total of the loan, less $300 dollars. I have no way of getting another car. I have a limited income and have no extra money for a down payment and at the time I had filed bankruptcy 6 months before the accident, so my credit is shot.

I started physical therapy sometime in June 2015, but couldn't finish with my treatments because I no transportation from work, therapy, and home. I was discharged from therapy in July 2015, still in pain. It cost me for one week of rental about $285-300 dollars; I didn't have the money to do it, every week. I was becoming late with my rent and bills trying to get to work. I was paying my co-workers gas money to take me back and forth to work, grocery stores, to my clients home visits, church, etc. I couldn't keep it up, this caused a riff at work with my co-workers and with my job and now the job and I have been on for 10 years was now in jeopardy. I am a dependable, hard worker. I was notified on 2 separate occasions that I had 30 days to get a car or I would be fired. By the grace of God, I am still there.

So I had no choice but to take the bus, it's a mile and half to the nearest bus stop to my house, so I get up at 5 am and leave my house by 6 am, walking in the dark, praying nothing happens to me, to get on the bus at 6:40 am paying $4.00 or $6.50 a day to get to Norfolk by 8:30 am. A friend picks me up from the bus stop and takes me the rest of the way to work. My job begins at 8 am; and I am late everyday. I get off at 5 pm, get a ride back to the bus stop and I ride the bus from Norfolk back to Virginia Beach Oceanfront and walk home again in the dark, getting in the house at 7:40 pm, if the bus isn't late. It used to take me 35 minutes to get home driving, now it's over 2 hours. It costs $30 dollars in a cab just to go to the bank. I am so exhausted some nights. I can't even cook dinner for my family.

As a result of walking so much, I have injured my feet, I have Plantar Fasciitis. I have constant pain, spasms all the time on the bottom of my feet. It was recommended that I take time off to stay off my feet and try to heal. I used up all my vacation time, 3 weeks worth, to stay at home, trying to help rest my feet, at the same time I was approved for FMLA, but I couldn't afford to take a 50% pay cut when I am already struggling to pay my bills. During the hot summer days, going to work was unbearable, hot and sweaty and coming home the same, walking in the rain or snow in the cold.

Mentally this case has caused my family so much pain. I am drained, disgusted with this whole ordeal and it was recommended by my employer to seek mental health services. I cry often because I am so tired of the pain. My children and I have not been able to take our yearly vacation, my son was in after school activities, and he had to stop because I had no way to get him back home. I can only grocery shops nearby and less often because I don't have the money to pay someone or take a cab (very costly). MENDOTA was so slow to pay my car off, it wasn't until September 2015 when they did, so my credit report says my car was reposed and not paid off, even though it was, and I didn't receive the $300 dollar check.

MENDOTA owed me till the end of September 2015. Since the accident, I have been to court three different occasions for being behind on my rent, I couldn't keep up the payments in my bankruptcy case so it was dismissed, my job security was threatened, I've had lack of sleep, not being able to go and check on my sick mother, or constantly having to wait, whether it was for MENDOTA Insurance to step up or waiting on a bus, a cab, or on people to decide whether to take me places and then they charge me outrageous amounts of money. Please, I am asking for your help in this matter. Thank You.

Was told when I signed up for insurance that my seventh month would be waived. I never heard that before but I went with it. So when it came time to pay the next payment I thought I would go online to pay it just in case and when I logged into my account it said there was nothing to pay that the account was paid up. So naturally I assume (and you know what they say about that) they had waived it like I was told. No, it was canceled and I received a call from retailer about my vehicle having no insurance and that if it wasn't taken care of they were coming to pick up the vehicle. I tried to call my home office with insurance and I get what I always get, an answering machine (they never answer). So I had to call the main customer service number where I was told I'm now in high risk because I allowed it to lapse. ;) Thank you scums of the earth. Sorry excuse of a company.

Was with Mendota for years and years until I sold my car and bought a new one. I called them to cancel the old car and simply to add the new one. Simple enough right? Wrong. They told me that had to see my agent and it wasn't possible to do it over the phone and they assured me that I was going to get my money for that month back since I called on the 31st of the month. Well they charged me and when I called back they said it's because they needed a cancellation notice in writing mailed or emailed to them. I did and still nothing.

I called them back and the lady said that sent the email too late so I wasn't going to get my money back. All of the people that have spoke with at Mendota have been very rude and sound very uneducated. They never gave me my mint and lost my business forever. Very disappointed after all the years that I have gave my money to them and now this is how they repay you. Wish they had these reviews back in the days.

In April, my 2011 Toyota Camry accelerated when I tapped the brake. It was totaled. Thankfully I nor anyone else was seriously injured. I immediately called Mendota's claims department and reported the accident. The following day an adjuster called me but because I was driving I asked her to call me back. She never did. I called her several times and never got a response. No adjuster took my statement. When I finally reached a supervisor, I was informed that I had a different adjuster. When I talked to that incompetent, she told me that I caused the accident. Apparently she was reading from the police report (which was later discredited through my own efforts) because she certainly was not repeating what I reported on the night of the accident. She said, "You accidentally stepped on the gas instead of the brake". A court found me not guilty of reckless driving.

Mendota is the worst. They said they would pay my sales tax on my new car, they haven't. They said they would send the plate from my Camry. They haven't. When I believed I had renter's insurance, I didn't. In fact I haven't heard from them in months. Then past week, I get a bill for a claim they should have paid, but haven't. I blame my insurance agent for suggesting them to me in the first place. But I have learned a very valuable lesson. I will definitely do my research before I bother with another class D insurer. There should be a class action suit against this company. I haven't heard one thing good about them.

I obtained Mendota Insurance through an insurance broker in September of 2014. I wish I had done my research before obtaining a policy with them because I would have definitely NOT done business with this company had I known the nightmare it causes its customers. In March of this year my 2007 Chevy Equinox was stolen from my home. I made a police report with Chandler Police & filed the claim with Mendota & hoped for the best. It was found a few days later by Phoenix Police in a bad neighborhood. Unfortunately I was never notified by the police & instead was eventually informed by my lien holder of the discovery & whereabouts of my car in mid-April.

I went to get my car from the tow yard, but it was soo badly damaged (missing parts, broken windows, slashed seats & paint poured all over the interior) I couldn't drive it in the condition it was in. Also, the tow yard charges had incurred to almost $900 (which I couldn't afford) since the police had failed to contact me immediately when they had found it. I notified my adjuster by the name of Ashley ** of this information. At some point Mendota went to recover the vehicle & assess the damages. I didn't receive any follow up despite leaving messages with the adjuster. I eventually received a call in mid-May from an investigator by the name of Rob ** out of Colorado. He stated he was in town for the day & needed to obtain an in person statement from me. Since I had no prior notice of this, I was unable to meet with him due to my work schedule that day.

I found it very strange that he hadn't called to set up an appointment prior to his trip. He said he would let Mendota know & someone would be in contact with me within a few days. A few days turned into a week & I again called & left a message with the adjuster. She finally called me back a few days later stating she had mailed me a Reservation of Rights letter & that I needed to schedule an in person statement with their investigator. I was already aware of this information.

I finally met with this investigator in the beginning of June & gave him this in person statement, which was the same information I had already given to the adjuster when my car was stolen. The only difference was this man said the claim was suspicious & accused me of being involved with the theft & damage to my car & even accused the other adults in our home as well! He claimed to be an un-bias party in the matter & also that his recommendation would have no influence in the insurance company making their decision for my claim. I call bs! We are now in July & I received another Reservation of Rights letter. This time Mendota is going to have their attorneys contact me for an under oath examination.

I'm now in the process of hiring my own lawyer to help me with this nightmare claim! I'm the victim & yet I'm being interrogated & treated like a criminal! I'm 4 months pregnant & this entire process has caused me undue stress! It seems to me this rinky dink joke of an insurance company treats all of their insured customers the same. My advice to anyone shopping for insurance: STAY AWAY FROM MENDOTA! They don't want to pay on their claims & if you're the unfortunate victim of a car theft/vandalism, you will be accused of being involved, interrogated by their investigators, their attorneys & ultimately accused of insurance fraud!

My daughter lives on campus at school now, but has lived off and on with other relatives. To me, the agent was trying to say that I was committing fraud by not adding my daughter to my insurance. She wants to know why my daughter doesn't live with me but uses my address. That's her permanent address. I used my parents' address for many years as a permanent address.

Both agents were very rude and I went on to tell the coverage investigator that I pay your salary so there shouldn't be any reason for me to be hassled about this accident. Either you're going to pay for the young lady's vehicle or you're not. It's ridiculous because they don't want to pay so they have got to find a reason why they shouldn't. I cancelled that insurance immediately. I felt like a criminal the way I was being harassed and talked to. Not only that, they want my phone records and copies of my license and I wasn't even the driver of the vehicle. It's ridiculous that we pay for this mandated insurance but get the runaround and harassment when it's time for the insurance companies to pay for the services we're paying them to receive every month. I am going to report this business to the BBB.

I sold my car in early August due to a problem that would cost more to repair than I paid for the car. I'm still required to have an SR22 and proof of it to keep my license. To save a lousy twenty bucks, I went through Discount Insurance Group instead of my previous insurance agency. They hooked me up with this mickey mouse ** company "Mendota" aka "Mendakota." I just got a letter from the DMV about my previous insurance being cancelled and that I have to provide proof of continuous SR22 coverage or my license will be suspended on 9/11/13. I showed them all of my Mendota paperwork, but there was no SR22 certificate. I wasn't previously aware of a particular certificate being required, and apparently the lady on the phone at Mendota had never heard of it being required. She promised to fax it over to the DMV as soon as she got off the phone with me.

Guess what? The ** didn't fax **. I don't have the money right now to get a policy with my former insurance agency, and couldn't get it for the previous month anyway. So I'm out $111, plus the fees to get an ID, and later a new license and reinstatement.. and I've done everything right on my end except checking this worthless company out first. On top of it, I was already unemployed and in a bad way when I made the mistake of calling Discount Insurance Group, which uses this piece of ** joke of insurance. You're better off forging proof of insurance.

I recently sign up with Mendota Insurance on August 19, 2013. Unfortunately, I was in a minor accident on August 25, 2013. When I sign up for insurance, I did it through an agency. Big Mistake!!!!! I called Mendota, made my claim and wanted to get a rental due to my accident. They stated to me that I did not have rental reimbursement. I stated to the claim adjuster that the company I went through made a mistake and I had proof that I had rental reimbursement on my policy. After proving that I had rental reimbursement, which it took about a week just to get them to recognize I had it.

I waited for the adjuster to call me back due to they were waiting for the underwriters to make the adjustment and retroactive it back to the 19th of August. Long story short, here it is Sept 3 and I have no rental yet. I get excuse after excuse... Run the other way when this insurance company tries to solicit you or if any third party insurance companies try to refer you to them. They have terrible business sense. Can't believe they are still in business.

My van was hit by someone while parked. I filed a claim with the insurance company. Finally an appraiser came out. He sent an appraisal. I spoke with a company representative. He was rude and arrogant and not even the person assigned to my claim. However, when he called me back he said (like a kid in a candy excitement) he had now taken over my claim. He sent me another appraisal of the damage (his version) and reduced coverage of the damage. All done with pictures from another state. They say A/C damages did not occur in the accident.

Well, the appraiser told me to take it back to the dealership and have them show me where the damage is. I did and they showed me. I have letters from three certified technicians stating that the damage is a result of impact from the accident. Is their appraiser certified? I highly doubt it. They even had him go out to the repair shop and look again. I was told by the certified technicians that upon impact, the bumper pushed the AC dryer into the condenser, thereby causing the problem. According to the Mendota rep, the dealership just doesn't want to fix my car. Mendota sent me an email and told me to have the shop charge the AC. All it needed was to be charged. It just needs regular maintenance, that all A/Cs need. They did that. It won't charge and all the liquid leaks out of the condenser where it is damaged.

I filed a complaint with the Insurance Commission. I received a letter from them telling me it would be investigated and to call her with any questions. So I call her. I was beginning to think I was talking to a Mendota rep. Apparently, she had never even read the complaint. She thought I had included letters from the dealership stating the damage was not from the accident. Why would anyone think I would include a letter contradicting my statement. According to her, I misunderstood. They cannot make the insurance company repair my car. Now I am wondering why we have an insurance commission if they can't do anything to help consumers. I'm not seeing anything constructive from them. So now I have been without my car for 2 months.

By the way, I have rental car coverage. However, it is Mendota's policy to have the insured pay for it and then get reimbursed. Guess it has taken me sometime to come to terms with who and what I was dealing with. The consequences have been devastating to my family. The financial, inconvenience, and the emotional impact cannot be measured. I assure you Mendota will be a thing of the past one day. However, it will take a long time to overcome the misery they have caused us. I would include photos, but I don't have any. I'm waiting for the ones from the Insurance Commission.

First day started out trying to get my windshield replaced. Not a simple task with Mendota. They have you on hold for a very long time just to say you have to wait for an adjuster. Never had to go through an adjuster to get a windshield fixed. I have had no other claims. I was an easy $2k for them in my premium. While I was waiting for their adjuster to contact me, someone had broken my back windshield. (I couldn't believe it!!) Anyway now I couldn't drive my car at all. Tried to call Mendota again with not a response except that I have to wait for the adjuster.

Second day (got a friend to drive me to work) I am patiently waiting for adjuster. I get a hold of a local windshield replacement company that is able and willing to replace. But need Mendota give the go. It is 2 pm with three calls into the adjuster "Tony" from myself and the windshield company. Finally I call again and state that I will be needing a rental. Now they get to Tony. He was a fast talking rude, pushy. He insisted we use his windshield company and put them on the phone while I was still discussing my claim. Then Tony did not want to get my front windshield replaced, just the back and only wanted to pay for 2 days of a rental.

2 days would have been fine if he would have gotten my car fixed within 2 days! I told Tony that I was not happy over how this was being handled. His reply was that what else could I expect? He felt that I was getting my needs met and that I would be at work anyway and didn't need my car. That is not even the point. I explained to him that my son had a dentist appointment the next day, that I do travel for work...and then I just got angry because here I was explaining myself when I didn't need to explain anything! UHGG very frustrating. So I will be getting my windshield fixed by the company Tony wanted tomorrow between 12 and 5 pm. 4 days without a vehicle! I have never had such a bad experience with an insurance company. Will be changing asap!

Finally, my insurance waived my deductible so I could get my repair process started and said they would continue to try to reach them and make them pay for it. Most frustrating company ever to deal with and their supervisor is rude and totally unprofessional. It is not rocket science. You hit a parked car, you are liable. In the small town of Arcadia, Florida there was an accident on Sunday, March 24, 2013 morning that involved two parked vehicles in the owner's driveway, covered to protect from damage from the elements of nature, and a 1990 Jeep Cherokee. Let us start at the beginning. The owner of the Jeep is the daughter of the driver. The driver had recently been released from the Desoto County Memorial Hospital due to neck surgery. The Jeep was in a drainage ditch across from a 1980 V8, 4 speed, 350 engine, power everything, burglar alarm, manual transmission, glass top classic Chevy Corvette, and a 1998 Ford Mustang that was parked alongside the Corvette.

Margarita sat behind the wheel of the Jeep; knowing full well she has no driver's license, she started the Jeep, placed the Jeep in drive, and pressed her foot on the gas pedal with the intention to attempt to remove the Jeep from the ditch. As Margarita floored the gas pedal of the vehicle, her own daughter was standing in front of the Jeep. The jeep flew out of the ditch going airborne, just missing and knocking her down to the ground causing her to black out for a brief moment, leaving just bruises. Next, the jeep flew over the road (Hickory St., N.E. Arcadia, Florida) never touching the pavement; Margarita did not attempt to stop the vehicle presumably due to panic, until it had rested on top of the Corvette and Mustang against a large tree forcing it to prevent the Jeep from continuing on into another neighbor's home.

The Arcadia police were called to the scene, patrolman Matthew **, badge **, never questioned the residents who witnessed the ordeal. The driver of the Jeep was transported to the Desoto County Hospital, and released not too long after. Patrolman ** assessed the scene of the accident, 1 wrecker and also one flatbed arrived to the scene by Darrel's Road and Wrecker Service (663 S. Brevard Ave. Arcadia Florida 34266). The driver claims there were issues with the brakes and the accelerator of the 1990 Jeep Cherokee, but Road and Wrecker being highly experienced certified mechanics said the Jeep Cherokee had nothing wrong with either the brakes or the gas pedal and that the Jeep has to be in park to be able to start the Jeep. This verified that the driver falsely stated the Jeep had mechanical issues to the patrolman.

The driver had struck the Mustang first hitting it so hard it knocked the muffler right off, yet lacking the attempt to stop yet, then driving on top of the Corvette parked alongside the Mustang and damaging a large tree. Again reminding that the driver has no driver's license, she had only received a ticket for reckless driving, and driving while license is suspended/revoked. The patrolman brought it upon himself to give estimates of damage to the Corvette at $2000, and the Ford Mustang at $3000.

Now the last I knew for insurance to process any claims, the estimates must come from a Certified Mechanic/Auto body repair shop. Also last I knew, when a person drives without a driver's license, especially when wrecking into other vehicles, and putting pedestrians' lives at risk, they are taken to jail. Being the driver has a family member on the Arcadia Law Enforcement as a detective, and being transported to the hospital for an examination, she was released from the rightful consequences. The driver was obviously not in any way hurt because when she had returned home Sunday. She was seen going in and out of her home as though nothing was wrong with her and continues to drive without a driver's license.

The owner of the Jeep has Mendota Insurance, as we had called to report our claim. It took a week to get an insurance adjuster to assess the damage of the parked, badly damaged vehicles. Here it is June 13, 2013. After several months of trying to contact Mendota and getting only voice mails with no return calls, to this day, no settlement has been made yet. I have called, spoken once or twice to a secretary letting her know I am to the point of calling an attorney due to the neglect of this company to uphold their responsibilities toward the client. I am tired of getting the runaround, and being ignored. This insurance company collects money from its clients and refuses to pay for the damages done by their clients.

I agree with others that this company is fraudulent and needs to be not only put out of business but also investigated and prosecuted for the frauds they have done. I can produce photos and factual claims as to what I am saying are true. I hope that everyone reading this does not waste their money investing in this company. Maybe when they lose enough customers, they will be forced into bankruptcy.

When I called Mendota to report the claim, I was still waiting to hear back from someone on another claim that happened a month or so prior to the sideswipe. I was not really too worried about the situation before because it was only a $268 claim to replace my back window (but a phone call would have been nice just to know they care about their customers). Anyway, when I finally did get someone on the phone, he was near impossible to work with. He didn't want to help me get into a rental and said I didn't have rental insurance.

Then after he was finally convinced, he told me I had to rent the car with my own money and the company would reimburse me. It took them four days to send someone out to look at my car and another six days to finally tell me the car is a total loss. So when I heard of the amount of the settlement, I got rather upset because they are offering me almost $3,000 below Blue Book Value. When I questioned the agent about the amount, she had a very bad attitude and told me I'm more than welcome to hire my own company to appraise the car but they will not pay for my car rental past the 28th of this month and it is now the 25th. I am a single mother with a 3-year-old son so being that I am 22 years old and don't have much money to work with, I feel like I have no other choice but to take their offer.

It is really a sad situation and I feel they are taking advantage of me because they know I don't have a lot of money! I believe Mendota should be put out of business! I would much rather pay a little bit more money to have a more customer friendly insurance company than to be taken advantage of and treated like I've done something wrong!

I later received a renewal notice on 03/05/11, after the cancellation request was processed. I contacted Mendota to receive a refund from period of 02/28/2011 through 03/24/11. In anger and frustration, I contacted Mendota to inquire why I was given only $45.18 out of $120.69. They claimed there was a $60 fee which is not refundable.

I took the claim up with my bank. The charge was refunded. Mendota's claim that I should show a proof that I obtained insurance from another insurance is not valid due to the following reasons: I was not notified in writing of increase in policy, nor there was any agreement signed for consent. I was not aware of an increase in policy before renewal. I had no reason to sign up with another company since I was not aware of an increase in my policy, and I was not notified. Mendota claimed there is $60 fee charged because I cancelled after renewal. However, I did not receive renewal or increase in policy notice until 03/05/11, after I have called to cancel my policy. This makes the claim $60.00 fee invalid.

She was cited and both cars were towed. Several days, following the accident, I received a call from her insurer, Mendota Insurance. The agent stated that their insured had filed a claim and after another week or more an appraiser was sent. The agent next called to inform me that my car is totaled, yet before a settlement could be made she needed to speak with her insured or obtain the police report.

My insurance company agent has contacted me (I only have liability coverage/U.M. up to $3500) to tell me that the agent from Mendota is saying that they are still waiting to hear from their insured and if they can not contact her they will be forced to deny the claim due to non cooperation of their insured.

After hearing this, I got in contact with the driver insured by Mendota and asked her to call the agent in charge of the claim. I explained the situation to her and she was very apologetic. She told me that when she made her claim, the agent she spoke with kept asking her if she was sure it was her own fault and if there was any way it may not have been.

She told the agent, she was definitely at fault and the agent told her that they would get in touch with her should any problems arise. She says, she hasn't heard anything since but told me she would contact Mendota and cooperate in order to have this resolved. I still have not heard from Mendota again. My calls are not returned. My brother had no permission to drive my car, because he had no license, and he is legally blind, but they said that I should have put him on my policy. Also, they cancelled my insurance with them. My car was totaled, and I am being sued by the people that he hit.

I was hit from behind while visiting Tucson, Arizona on 12/31/2009. The guy at fault was insured by Mendota Insurance Company. I reported the accident to them the next day. I was contacted by the adjuster within a week regarding the accident during which time I asked about a rental car. I was told that a maximum of $40 per day would be compensated and to keep track of the receipts. While my car was not drivable, I was able to get rides in order to mitigate damages. I was called a few days later and told that an appraiser will contact me regarding my car. I was not contacted but received a letter (within the week) with a valuation for my car based on its condition and the "Fair Market Value."

The valuation contained many errors including: prices for cars that were not currently for sale were used in the valuation, cars being sold in other cities (greater than 75 miles from my zip code) were used, a car that was under priced (the dealer quoted $500 higher) was used, a car that had more than 60,000 miles more than mine was used, two cars that were being sold by fake dealers (phone numbers not reachable and no names) were used, cars with a different style (GLE vs GXE) were used, loss of use was not included in the valuation, the mileage bonus and average mileage of my car were calculated incorrectly, and most DMV fees were missing.

I compiled a demand letter containing my own independent research from sources such as autotrader.com and the environmental protection agency and sent it to the adjuster. However, my research was simply ignored. I was told by the adjuster that they do their own research using their own company and that she will not look at my research. Furthermore, the adjuster claimed that she never told anyone that the maximum rental price allowed was $40 per day(she quoted $20 instead), and that I was only entitled for Loss of Use for 2 weeks since I did not accept the original settlement (apparently it's my fault that I didn't accept their original bogus offer).

When I asked the adjuster about details of both the original valuation as well as my own independent research, she simply ignored me on the phone repeating,"We have our own company that does the research." She admitted that she has not looked at my research and when I asked to talk to her manager was told that her manager "is out today and that the manager will only refer (me) to (her)." I have since contacted the adjuster again and sent numerous emails. So far there has been no response. I asked for the contact information of the adjuster's manager and again there was no response. If I do not get a response from Mendota Insurance soon, I will be forced to file an official complaint with the Attorney General's Office Consumer Protection Department.

I was denied an entire auto insurance claim due to these peoples’ typographical error on every page of their insurance declaration package. Insurance coverage was purchased after accident, but Mendota's "effective date" was retro-active and thus making eligible for claim. One judge seemed to think so and would have given me reason had it not been because Mendota's reps in L.A (regular attorneys and not representatives as every insurance company is supposed to have in every state) said I waited 10 months to inform them of accident. The accident of which, if they ever were informed, was only to confirm insurance coverage by the guy at fault - request to which they denied. After some research and to everyone who might want to know, the statue of limitation says that 2 years is the limit in which you can present a case on insurance on property damage. No money was being asked of Mendota and the entire case collapsed.

Of course, the first time we went to court, I was ignorant of the statue of limitations. And of course, the second time we went to court (when I had every darn document to show on my favor), the new judge said I was being sneaky and was trying to go around stuff to gain money - if she'd only bother to check every freakin' page of Mendota's insurance declaration package which show their "typographical error" (admitted in writing by Mendota's attorneys in L.A). I am still paying doctor bills, shop bills and such as punishment for not having insurance at the time of accident. Mendota's error went overlooked - for now. I have all these documents. If anyone would like to view/use them - by all means.

We are the lien holder of this vehicle. The customer was insured with this company at the time of the accident. They did not want to pay us the balance that the customer owed or even help us resolve the case because they say that they do not know if the customer was the one driving or not. The case is that the customer did not have a Florida license but they went ahead and insured him anyway. I do not understand why they did not cover the accident since he was insured. They do not want to work with us and never return our calls.

I was in an Auto accident involving a person Insured with Mendota Insurance. I was assigned a claim number, and given an agent and phone number for her, but she never answers the phone (always voicemail) and does not return voicemail messages left. I have yet to be able to find out if the other party actually is insured (under investigation according to a letter I received ) or what the progress is on the claim. An adjusted did come out and evaluate my vehicle, but it is now a over a week later and no contact with me has been made to even advise what the estimate of damage is.

It is hard to settle a claim when you can never talk to anything but voicemail.

I was involved in an auto accident with one of Mendotaa's insured drivers. This happened in July of 2005. I received an estimate on 08-05-05. I have left numerous messages for Ms. Cosgrove, however, have only spoken with her twice since receiving the estimate. I have repeatedly tried to give them my correct mailing address if they would prefer reaching me by mail, they have both my cell and home telephone numbers and my email. They claim they are unable to contact their insured, while I understand that presents a problem for them, I would like to know that my claim is being handled responsibly and not being ignored until the time has run out for my to fix my car. I would go and have someone fix the damage to my car, but I am not confident Mendota will cove the cost. I can and may have to use my own insurance in order to get this taken care of, I just think they have a responsiblity to me or at the very least to at least respond to my calls and emails.
