I've been with Geico as an automobile insurance holder for about 20 years. I had no claims for 46 months when in early November I bumped into the rear of an Escalade and asked Geico to handle the damge. In December, Geico infomed me they were raising my premium by $480 per year for the next three years. They informed me this raise resulted from their having to pay $860 to repair the rear bumper of the auto I bumped into. So the net result is I will have to pay more than $1300 over the next three years for a small incident in which Geico had to pay out less than $850. This is an unconscionable move by them since they said any accident they pay for will result in one point on my record with them for three years, even though I had no points for almost 4 years
I must pay out an additional $1300 to retain my insurance coverage and I am retired so my income is limited.

I have an existing policy. I went online and entered my daughter's info for a quote only. They automatically added her to my policy and my premium went up 220 dollars a month. I emailed them asking them to take her off of the policy, I only wanted a quote. Shelly responded to my email telling me we would be eligible for a discount and to fax the info. No mention about what my email said about it being a quote.
I will not be able to pay the premium. I feel they bamboozled us by adding her without authorization.

On two occasions, I was rear ended by other drivers. In each case, the other driver was found to be at fault. But also, in each case, Geico did very little to help me. They seem to take a very hands-off approach to claims handling. I ended up having to do pretty much all the leg-work in getting my claim taken care of. It took FIVE phone calls to Geico to get them to transfer the claim to the other party's policy.
After the second accident, they totaled my car but took three weeks to get around to paying me (in spite of telling me they'd overnight the check they were going to send me).
Geico is very happy to take your money, but does very little for their customers if a claim needs to be filed. So, in spite of all their cutesy advertising, underneath it all, they are just out for themselves and don't care about their customers or policy holders.

I became a new policy holder with Geico Insurance (vehicle) on 10-30-07. I requested comp/collision (full coverage) due to car is financed. I paid the down payment and was sent documents as to what I requested in my policy along with the insurance ID cards.Three weeks later my car was in a bad accident. I called to file a claim and was told by the claim adjuster and customer service rep that I do not have comp/collision due to no car inspections. I was outraged; here I have damages on a 2003 Infiniti g35 and was not notified that the car I drive my kids in, is not covered. I never received any paperwork or notification through email alerts or customer service that an inspection was needed. The other motorist, does not have insurance. (We live in a no fault state.) The airbags deployed; the car is in bad condition.
Geico said they will have to investigate; its been 3 weeks and no response from Geico . I have called them numerous time, always the same answer: the management dept. is backlogged; and no response on action. I am driving around in a car that is very dangerous. Geico knows this and never offered a rental car. I am still obligated to pay my premium, I don't have money to pay for a lawyer for assistance, and car payments are still due . I am a single parent who is desperately needing some assistance. Geico is trying desperately to hide, not fix the problem, and taking my money without fixing this problem. I found another person who is going through the same issue with Geico.

In February of 2007, I moved to Hawaii and signed a 6 month insurance policy with Geico. In August, a month before my policy was to expire, I moved back to California. In moving, I informed Geico of my new address. They sent me a quote (via email) of over $5000 for a new 6 month policy that had been drawn up after my address change. With that ridiculous quote, I decided not to renew at the end of my policy. In the contract guidelines between the Geico and the consumers, it states that there are certain instances where Geico will cancel your policy for you, two of which are if the consumer does not agree with the new policy terms or if no payment is sent. Knowing this I did not send in any payment.
I went for a week or so without insurance looking for a decent price, which was not hard to find. Within that week, Geico sent me a letter saying that if no payment is received by October 5, then I will no longer be insured. Relieved, that I wasn't uninsured, I continued looking and at the end of the month signed a new policy with Progressive Insurance on a 6 month premium of about $1200. Mid October I get another letter from Geico saying that even though my policy was cancelled I still owe $800 for being insured in Sept under the new policy. I called Geico expressing that I should not have to pay the $800 because, not only did their letters not advise me that I will be charged for that month, but that I was being charged for a policy that I never agreed to renew. According to their contracts, I rightfully cancelled my insurance and should not be getting charged anything. However a Geico supervisor informed me that the reason why I'm being charged the $800 is because I changed my address with them, and they interpret a change of address as accepting a new 6 month insurance policy with them. I told them that was ridiculous! I changed my address and they take that as a signature for a policy that hasn't even been drawn up yet. I understand that they would raise my rates for that change of address, but not by that much. They claim that they are following all aspects of the law, which is why the premium is so high, when every other company offered premiums for a fraction of that. They continue to send me collection letters mentioning the importance of good credit. Are they right in what they are doing?

I was in an accident in Feb.of 2007. At first Geico was doing right or at least that's what I thought. Then I started to get medical bills that they refused to pay. Right after the accident something in the discs in my neck showed up, but I had very bad low back pain and other things wrong with my right side. Geico kept sending me to their doctors who would say there is nothing wrong and to go back to work; they would spend a minute or two to make their diagnoses. I have other doctors now, treating me, and they say something is wrong but are still trying to find out what. An EMG shows nerve damage, and a second MRI shows a fracture, and now I'm to take a second EMG.
Geico needs to wake up; I was not at fault in the hit-and-run, and the guy was caught. I did not ask for this to happen to me. My policy covers my lost wages and medical bills that Geico is refusing to pay. I am thinking of taking other actions against them and their quack doctors. I'm trying to get better myself so I can get back to work if I can, but Geico is tying my hands. Something has to be done about these insurance companies and their so-called doctors they pay to make sure you do not collect from your policy.
My medical bills are still climbing, and even though my credit was good I was working on it, and now I'm about to lose my car because of Geico's refusing to pay my medical costs and lost wages.

I currently have a claim with GEICO for my 95 Chevy stolen 11/16/07. The car was recovered the very next but not in running condition. It has now been 2 1/2 weeks and nothing has been done. I gave a statement to the adjuster and then to a special investigator. Still waiting. It is amazing how long you have to wait for a claim to be handled but GEICO won't wait on your payment because they will cancel you. So I am in a rental I may have to pay for and my car still hasn't been seen at a bodyshop. Believe me if I was out to get the little money my car is worth it wouldn't have been found the next day.

GEICO suddenly canceled my policy due to my truck having come from the factory with a turbo installed. I've had a previous truck insured through GEICO that had a factory turbo diesel; but now, out of the blue, GEICO will not insure my truck. That means, anyone with a factory installed, turbo equipped car or truck is subject to sudden policy cancellation.
The canceled policy forces me to find alternate insurance: initial fees and costs, plus time and loss of use of the truck for the time to find alternate insurance.

Geico's client totaled my car because he was driving too fast. The adjuster took a long time to come; they would not pay for storage or towing. I couldn't afford to store the car so sold it to the tow yard. Geico says they can't pay because I moved the car. I have a letter that says to move the car. Geico would not give me what my car was really worth. Then they gave me a handwritten check that no bank, including the one its drawn on, will cash because Geico says it has to have a hold on it until further notice. I have been without a vehicle for over 7 weeks and am so frustrated by the way I was treated. They would not communicate with my insurance company. They kept saying they never got any correspondence from me even though it was sent return receipt certified, registered mail. According to Geico, the person who signed for the letters doesn't work there. Geico needs to spend less money on commercials and learn how to help the people who were not at fault in an accident.

I'm President of a 70 year old independent insurance agency. Curious if GEICO reps understand insurance & the need for PROPER protection, I called for quote. I was mislead and deceived. I was given a quote for 1/3rd of the coverage I require. Phone rep asked no questions about my insurance needs & was unfamiliar with coverage options. Although pleasant and polite, he offered no advice, no needs analysis, gave me a price, asked me to pay. When I asked about additional coverage that I already have and NEED with Travelers, GEICO rep was completely unknowledgeable.
Offered MUCH LESS coverage, offered NO professional advice. I had to ask all the questions. GEICO was ignorant of insurance options, unethically tried to entice me to purchase a substandard limited coverage policy, claiming they would save me money. Sure they could- as long as they reduced my coverage by 75%.
Unable to offer my required coverage. I had to insist that I needed more coverage, GEICO was unable to offer similar coverage. Even at 25% of the coverage I require, their price was triple my current rate. If I conducted business using GEICO's tactics, my small business would be reprimanded, disciplined and fined by the insurance department.
GEICO sales reps are uneducated about insurance, unprofessional, unethical and are an insult to professional independent insurance agents worldwide. Yet they are not held to the standards of a small business, and are insulated from disciplinary action. When GEICO customers come to me for advice, they are shocked at GEICO'S lack of knowledge and GEICO's deliberate deceit to the public.
Customers switch their insurance to my professional agency each and every time. All they need to see is GEICO's declaration page and price, compared to one of my company's coverage and price.

They have cut me off of all my medical expenses, making me pay for all of it. Now I am up for surgery with no one to pay for it. My health insurance refuses to pay for it either because they feel GEICO should. How is that fair? I pay for something but when you need it, its not there?

My car was spun clockwise more than 90 degrees and I had minor to moderate injuries including whiplash/neck strain, back pain, a swollen right arm, and glass embedded all in my skin. The guy who hit me was fine.
Unfortunately for me, the guy who hit me has Geico. There was also a witness who gave his statement to both Geico and State Farm which backed up my story and what the cops said happened. It all started over a month ago, when I received a letter from Honda stating i didn't have the correct coverage on my car. I spoke with Bonnie on May 24th, 07 and she repeatedly apologized for their mishap. I also made a payment with her in that same conversation for June. She even stated that the automated payment system was acting up and she would personally take my payment, which she did. She even said if you get a cancellation notice in the mail, disregard it.
I tried to re-instate my policy and now Tiffany from Geico gave me a quote of $1770.80 for 6 months, then when I wanted to speak to a supervisor, I spoke to Karen and she gave me a quote of $2,026.00 for 6 months. It's amazing that with in 10 minutes, the price jumped almost $300.00.

I didn't renew that previous policy and got them to clear that one up. I cancelled the current 5 day old policy and they still sent me a statement.
I again called and they finally cancelled the request for the policy. 3 months later, I have received a credit collections statement, stating that I owe Geico $36.16 for being covered by Geico for the month of March (this is because someone at Geico decided to state that I didn't cancel until the 29th of March), so now I have to pay $36.16 to their collections department in order to clear it off of my credit report. I had a car accident on 4/28/07 in Beverly Hills California. A Honda Civic pulled in front of me as I drove down the street and t-boned it in my Porsche Boxster. Even though it was obviously his fault (the police report even said so) he denied responsibility so his insurance company (USAA) told me I would either have to go through my insurance (Geico) or wait the 1-2 months for the investigation to complete. Of course I chose the latter.
I bought the car 5 months ago for $34,000 and added a $7,000 bodykit and had Geico insure my aftermarket items (they charged me for it). The Geico adjuster offered me $31,000. When I challenged the adjuster's offer, he told me that the bodykit only offered a $850 increase in the resell value. He simply could not understand that I didn't insure my car for resell, but REPLACEMENT in case of an accident, which I thought was the purpose of car insurance in the first place.
Luckily for me it only took 24 hours for them to correct the amount I was owed, $39k. I was told I needed to contact Geico in Georgia to receive my check. They told me that since I was in a rush and I owned the Boxster I could simply go to my adjuster and exchange my car's title for the check. I called Jason and he said he didn't have checks. The GMC dealer refused to fix the vehicle saying it was a total loss. Geico on the other hand said it's not a total loss. We had rental, but that is long since gone. We paid 2000 dollars for a cheap vehicle just to get to work and back in the meantime.
Geico found us another shop to fix the car and we finally got it back last month. However, it is horrible. The seatbelts don't work. The doors don't close right and it looks like a crab driving sideways down the road.

Can GEICO change my rates during an 'existing' policy time? Despite 28 years of little or no accidents, tickets, etc., the past three years have been very bad for me. I've had one accident (weather related) where my car was repaired, I've had one speeding ticket and finally I was in an accident in April where my car was totaled and I have been on disability for a broken ankle since. The last renewal statement (mine is quarterly) was to run through and include September. All of a sudden I got a notice that due to my accident, my rates would go up not only in October (my 'normal' renewal time), but I would be responsible for paying an increased automent for August (already paid for) and September would also be charged at the new rate.
My payments went from $113.64 paid in August a month to $517.50 a month due Sept. 1st. The quarterly renewal starts in October and continues with the new $517.40 a month rate. Can they do this-charge a new rate before the renewal starts? That doesn't seem right. I have been covered by GEICO automobile insurance since 1996 and have never had an accident or filed an insurance claim in my life.
I was caught in a hail storm and after the storm passed my passenger and I inspected the car. There were dozens of chips in the paint down to the primer all over the car, with the hood suffering the most. Fortunately there did not seem to be any dents, just the chips.
I contacted GEICO and started the claims process. I was able to provide a copy of the NWS's severe thunderstorm warning and the local storm reports from emergency management offices regarding large hail. GEICO interviewed me on the phone, and also interviewed my passenger to verify my account, then scheduled me to see an adjuster.
The adjuster looked at my car for 10 seconds and said the chips could not possibly be hail damage and the only way to repair it would be to file a separate claim for each panel of the car. I have a $500 deductible, and the only panel that would cost more than $500 to fix would be the hood at $641.
He advised me to either drop the claim completely, or to just file a claim on the hood to save the $141. He said I could also request a bottle of the mixed paint to manually touch-up the other panels of the car!
I find it incredible that he would just dismiss my claim immediately, even though I had weather reports, a witness to verifie the same information I told them.
I do not feel this is a problem with GEICO as a whole, only with that one adjuster I dealt with.

I was shocked! I explained to him that I was told by the previous rep that I had to ship the car with the plates. I specifically asked about this several times before I sent the car! I had to pay hundreds of dollars in insurance becasue of GEICO's mistake.

I have tried on several occasions to resolve a discrepancy with the rates that I have been paying to GEICO. I have been given the run around for about 8 months now.
I move to Maryland in July of 2003 from NY. Since then, GEICO has been charging me NY rated. I have provided so much documentation (pay stubs, proof of residency, government clearance forms, tax forms, bills, etc) and STILL nothing has been done. I sent these documentd by fax and have received documentation that it was received every time.
I am truly dissatisfied with the way GEICO does business.

I contacted Geico by phone to get a home insurance estimate. I was informed by the customer service agent that Geico does not assist home owners with insurance if they have certain breeds of dogs.
My family and I have an 11-year old, extremely kind and docile, American Staffordshire Terrier - otherwise known as a pitbull. I was stunned to find out that they would not offer me home insurance based on this fact.
I find it to be extremely discriminatory and based on unfounded evidence.
