I just recently cancelled my policy and received a bill of past due today, 11/25/2009, for the first time. I didn't understand why I was getting billed because I cancelled the policy within the open window before the policy was renewed. I paid all of my bills on time for many years with them, so I remained confused. I was also in a non pay window because I paid all of my premiums for the policy period and had a few months of no payments.
When I called to find out why they are charging me, they mentioned that I changed my address in October 2009. When I explained this, they put me on hold for a while, came back to me and advised that they are charging me for changing my address. It didn't matter what my insurance status was; they said that they are charging me back charges from the date I changed my address.
First of all, I cancelled my policy in the end of October. Second, I already paid all of my bills. Third, I have proof of a quote they gave me in an email stating my new address situation for the renewal. Fourth, I only changed my address because I over paid and wanted them to send the payment to the address provided. I already knew that I was not staying with them so I figured it didn't matter what address they have on file. Fifth, I never agreed to the new quote or any renewal agreements with this new address. When I called them today, they said they understood, but can't waive the extra fees!

I was driving to work on 10/27/2009, turned right on SW 30th Ave. off Congress Ave. in Boynton Beach, Florida. A driver of a 1994 green Chevy pickup went through a stop sign, attempted to cross the 2-lane road and smashed into the side of my car causing nearly $2,000 in damages. He immediately apologized, took responsibility. The Boynton Beach Police arrived and ticketed him for an improper U-turn. It seemed like an easy case, so I left him alone and went on. GEICO refuses to pay the claim. They are dragging their feet and stalling all they can. I had to get my insurance to pay and pay the deductible and they are fighting with GEICO for the payment, My insurance, the police, and the body shop cannot believe the GEICO way of handling a claim. I guess that's how they afford all these commercials. Warning: If you have GEICO, change companies because you are paying for insurance that doesn't pay. Now I am suing the driver in small claims court, so he will be paying his insurance and the claim.

We were stopped for a vehicle in front of us to turn right (1999 2500 HD Dodge). Then, we were rear-ended by a Honda SUV 1995, which in turn was rear ended by a Dodge 1500 truck. At the time of the accident, the driver of the truck, a Dodge 1500 (2000 model year), as per the driver of the 2000 Dodge produced papers that his insurance was GEICO. But the next day we received a call from GEICO stating that his insurance was in question and we were notified that no coverage will be afforded for this loss. It’s an issue that exists on our insured's policy. But being a no-fault state, no citations were given to anyone as with the driver of the Honda SUV also was a GEICO policy holder. Now, according to the police officer who investigated the accident, it was fault of the driver of the Honda SUV as she hit us in the rear-end and it was up to her insurance to pay for the damages incurred by our vehicle.
However, according to GEICO it was not it all. It fell back to the driver of the 2000 Dodge Ram and the speed was not a factor in it. But we were injured as well as our vehicle had incurred the damage. This has been over 46 days ago and we have heard nothing to date (11-01-2009). Now, Florida’s statues clearly state that in 45 days after a policy that was cancelled must be turned into state, as per section 324 of Florida’s statutes, and must be reported to the state. Then, the law also states driver’s license and registration must be surrendered to the state until insurance is purchased or a bond is placed with the state. So if GEICO had been doing their job as per law, the state was not notified. This claim is on-going at this time as we received back neck and foot injuries sustained during the accident along with whiplash as these injures are on-going. We are handicapped and disabled people and have handicapped plates on our vehicle. So our insurances paying our bills, like doctors’, hospital and all necessary equipment for us to use daily. My opinion is don’t buy GEICO as GEICO acts like a sucker.

I got a bill for car insurance that I didn't order. I have no idea how I ended up with a bill for car insurance. The car was an old 1996 model that doesn't even run and hasn’t for several years. They call me after 11 am. I am getting collection notices and I am sure it's going to be on my credit file. I have had a lot of ID theft in the past and it's always the same story. Nobody believes your explanation.

My 20-year-old daughter was hit by a driver insured by GEICO. The airbags went off, the windshield was cracked and the driver's side window was shattered. My daughter suffered multiple injuries. GEICO accepted 100% responsibility for the accident. Less than 24 hours after the accident, without asking the nature of her injuries or if she had seen a doctor, GEICO called and offered her $250 to settle her medical claim.

On May 11, 2009, as I approached a crosswalk in New Rochelle, a car was stopped waiting for oncoming traffic. I walked through the crosswalk when all of a sudden, the car accelerated into the merging street, the bumper striking my left thigh and knocking me 12 feet into the next lane. The woman stopped and called the police while having an attitude with me (and she's the one who hit me!). She told the police officers and firefighters on the scene she never saw me crossing the street because she was looking down the hill and verified I was in the crosswalk. I was transported to the hospital by ambulance and released later that evening. The very next morning, Loriann **, the claims examiner from GEICO, called to know what injuries I sustained from the accident as well as what happened. My husband and I told her as soon as we knew what the injuries were, she would know.
Two months later, Loriann sent me to an orthopedic IME who determined that I had a mild disability and requested that I receive further treatment and see him again in six weeks for a reexamination. After that, I was sent all the way to a rundown medical office in the Bronx for a neurological IME. The doctor claimed there was no need for neurological benefits; however, I needed to see an orthopedic surgeon due to an indication of a possible herniated disk. I still had all of my other benefits with the exception of neurology.
On September 11, 2009, I went back to the same orthopedic IME and just found out from the IME provider company, Support Services, that my report is going to be sent to GEICO today. The problem is, I was sent a denial letter by Loriann on September 17, 2009 with no report. I asked for a report on the 21st and received my July 10, 2009 report. I spoke to Lisa from the no fault department (Loriann wasn't available) and asked for the correct report. I was told first that Loriann might have made a mistake and didn't know what I was talking about.
Then, she said GEICO didn't receive my report yet. Lisa said Support Services probably had a copy and just didn't send it out yet. I spoke to Support Services and they didn't have it either! Get this. When I asked the representative how was it possible to send a denial of claim when the report wasn't even finished, she said it's from the doctor's preliminary exam. I also asked her who denies the patients, and instead of telling me the examining physician makes this decision, she said the insurance company does, and they can do that. I don't think so!
I called Lisa back and told her to note in my file for GEICO that I will still continue treatment even though I was cut off as of September 17 because I was illegally sent a denial form without a report. I also filed a complaint with the New York State Insurance Department so someone knows the kind of unnecessary drama GEICO puts deserving people through.
Not only do I want to sue GEICO for the pain and suffering and medical issues I am going through, as well as the company granting premature denials, I also want to go after the IMEs for cutting off benefits when proof is there when needed. Is it possible to do so? I am also going to pursue arbitration, but it still won't help my situation because I have to wait three months with all of this pain and no benefits. I am 23 years old feeling like I am 80 due to my injury. Is there an attorney who can help?

My car was parked in the driveway of my sister-in-law's home when the driver of a white Ford Focus lost control of his vehicle, jumped the curb and hit my car. He never stopped. I got his license plate number which I gave to the police. I was able to describe to the police the car and the driver. My sister-in-law also witnessed this accident. My insurance company, Progressive, tracked down the license plate to a woman in Andrews, Texas as the owner, who told the police she didn't know who was driving the car. However, she was recorded by Progressive stating that her son had the car that day. The son works for a law firm as an intern and he immediately lawyered up. Also, his employer states that he was at work, which we have not been able to disprove.
Someone was driving that car and regardless of who was behind the wheel, the owner should be held liable for damage done to my car. However, GEICO, after taking pictures of the "hit and run" vehicle, tells me that I have to prove to them who was driving the car. This is wrong. The driver was a young Hispanic male. It wasn't her son as I saw his picture in a mugshot lineup and told the officer that the driver was not in the lineup. However, the son and most likely the mother knows who was driving that car on that day.

If GEICO tells you that if you purchase another vehicle from a dealership, they will reimburse you the taxes paid on the vehicle, it doesn't take up to 2 weeks to receive the check. I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now - from August 24 until September 18. Had I known that it would take longer than 2 weeks, I would have purchased a vehicle from a private owner instead.

I was in an auto accident on June 12, 2009. After 2 and a half weeks of the run-around with GEICO, they decided to take the blame and my van would finally go into the shop. After 20 days of it being in the repair shop, I got it back on July 11, 2009. I thought everything was fine, until a few weeks back in August when my check engine light came on and the van was not performing the way it should.
Needless to say, I had my van in and out of shops because no one knows what is wrong with it till I took it over to the dealer and now they are telling me that I need a new powertrain control module, which just so happens that this part is on the same side where I was hit. GEICO is telling me that if there is no damage to this part on the outside, then they are not going to pay for this part. My van runs like crap now the engine light is back on and it's eating so much gasoline that I only drive this van to and from work because I'm afraid it’s going to stall on me. I don't have the $500 to get a new PCM and it's a no-brainer that there had to be some impact to this part when I was hit on the driver’s side and that's where this part is located. I'm very disappointed in this company. I shouldn't have to shove out any money from this accident - it wasn't my fault!

On July 10, 2009, my spouse was driving my car traveling through Henderson, TN when a gravel truck carrying rocks came within his path. A rock from the truck flew off and crashed into the windshield of my 2002 Lexus. Upon returning home, I contacted GEICO to pursue a claim, but I was told that they would not replace my glass with the original manufacture’s glass and they would replace it with what they call equivalent. To my dissatisfaction, I contacted the NYS Insurance Department and filed a complaint seeking a satisfactory resolution to restore my windshield to its original standard prior to the incident on July 10th. To-date, I have not been able to reach an agreement with GEICO who recently forwarded me a 23-page copy of policy guidelines that I was never given prior to insuring my vehicle with them. I am only seeking a replacement of my windshield that is identical to what is currently in my vehicle.

A client of GEICO pulled out onto oncoming traffic in Huntsville, AL. She ran her red light and pulled out onto the right as she hit my daughter in the right fender. My daughter was traveling west bound on a 7 lane highway in the city. The client was on her cell phone and did not realize that her light had turn to red. As she proceeded, she side swiped my daughter's car and have caused damage to the turn of around $2,100.00, plus the lost of the car for a few weeks, until I got it approved to drive. I have not fixed it yet, as she is disputing the claim. The city police report plainly states that it was the lady's fault for pulling out into on coming traffic. Needless to say, this is not over. I am filing a suit, and they will need to convince the judge why they are above the law, and not respecting the police report!

I was involved in an accident where an insured driver with GEICO ran a red light as I was turning to enter a freeway. The driver admitted to running the light to my insurance company and he also admitted to running the light at court. The ticket was dropped because I had a green turn arrow allowing me to turn. The driver failed to stop and I hit him on the side of his car. My car was totaled and GEICO is saying that I was careless and not being a defensive driver. My insurance has doubled because of subrogation and GEICO is only offering to pay me $300 to settle this claim.

I was involved in an accident in Missouri on my way to my parents. There were no other vehicles involved, but my car was totaled. The car is a 2009 Aveo that I purchased last year. GEICO assessed the "value" of the car and made an offer of $13,545. I owe $14,540; but based on the book value of the car, I thought this acceptable, even though the car had very low miles and was in pristine condition. I would use savings to pay off the additional $1,000 owed. The very next day the adjuster called and informed me that they were deducting an additional $1,000 from the settlement because I was given a rebate when I purchased the car.
I asked what the rebate had to do with the assessed value and if this is anywhere in the contract or insurance agreement. I was told that this not in the contract and is standard procedure for them. I told them that his seems arbitrary and if it is not stated in the agreement, then they are playing fast and loose with the rules. I have filed a complaint with the state attorney general’s consumer protection division. I will probably seek the advice of a private attorney as well. My advice to anyone considering using GEICO: don't.

I was starting to back out of a parking space but waited when I saw a car moving behind me. I put on my brakes, having barely moved and while still in the parking space. I jumped out to investigate while the other driver continued out of the parking lot. I saw that he had scraped paint off of approximately two-thirds of my bumper. A witness in the car next to mine ran over and gave me the guy's license plate and her name and phone. I chased the other driver to his next stop and asked him if he knew he had just hit my car. He had no idea and didn't believe me until we looked at the paint from his car that had scraped off on my bumper and at the damage done to his right front bumper. I, and the local Geico adjuster who looked at my damage, thought it was obvious that the Geico-insured driver was at fault, but an adjuster in another state decided it was partly my fault because of my failure to take evasive action.

I was involved in an accident on 3/5/09. I was on my way to work, following behind a white Toyota Corolla. The white Toyota Corolla was following behind a turquoise Ford Ranger. The Ford Ranger decided to stop short causing the Corolla to slam on the brakes. My reaction was to go into the median to avoid the accident all together. The Corolla also decides to go into the median. As a result, the Corolla driver side and my passenger side collided. The police showed up and warned us both that we were probably following too closely, but the fault is neither mine nor hers solely.
I filed a claim with GEICO that same morning. The minimum wage representative taking my information spit out a statement, "Well ma'am, according to the information you have provided, you are at fault for this accident." Excuse me, how could you possibly make such a statement? I was told that because I was behind the other vehicle, it was my fault. I explained that I refuse to take fault for this and to not make such a decision without allowing me to speak to someone with decision making authority. I was put through the ringer of, "We'll have a supervisor call you." In the meantime, they charged me with the accident, paid for the repairs on the other vehicle and sent my information to the DMV to go on my record as being at fault.
It's been 5 months now, and I'm still fighting with them. Since when is my own insurance company the enemy in an accident? I thought your individual insurance was supposed to protect you? I have called again to speak to a supervisor or manager and I was told they would call me back and it would have gone through the proper chain of command. As a result of GEICO's blatant computerized, unprofessionalism and lack of communication, I have practically been blackballed in the insurance world. I have tried to get insurance through other companies, but because of this incident and having an "at-fault" accident on my record, the premiums are doubled and with some companies, tripled. Also, my insurance with GEICO went up as well. I've been a customer of theirs for 5 years. My premiums have gone down with each renewal and this has put it back to what it was 5 years ago. Also, they don't even have such a thing as accident forgiveness.

Reputable insurance companies don't surcharge for parking tickets and other non-moving violations; GEICO does! They will surcharge you for traffic tickets, even if they are dismissed! When you get a rate quote from their own website, it sounds great - that is only a preliminary quote. When you receive an actual bill, it will be much higher than you were quoted because they will surcharge you to death for everything they can find - tickets that are more than 20 years old, dismissed charges, eye color, whatever!

My car was parked at Whole Foods in West Hollywood backwards, so the front of the auto towards the store. A passerby said he saw an old couple in a Cadillac hit the car and drive away. My license plate and holder were on my hood, but there were no major external damages in the front. The car was pushed into a wall so the tail lamp had a small crack which grew overnight. So my friend recommended I go to Eurasian, her friend's shop, to get a new tail light as mine went out and I didn't want anything leaking into the casing.
So I stopped by a few places, I ended up at Eurasian. Joe, the owner, said I should really make sure there is no internal damage to the vehicle as there was a slight bit of condensation in the left tail light. I agreed. I wanted the light covered, I reported the incident to Geico. I was given one of three loaner cars from Eurasian. One was safe, the others were salvaged and the highway patrol pulled me over and wanted to impound the Scion I had for 2 months with no air conditioning. No WW fluid, bald tires. Enough said. So the adjuster from Geico came out, I was never given a quote. The fees were approximately $15,000 and I picked up my Porsche (It's a 1999) on May 30th. My tail light was still out. I had to run an errand on the way to take my car back as there was condensation in both tail lights and it was side swiped in a parking spot while I was inside a building.
So I took the car in at 1:30PM. I was given no estimate, no invoice, not even when I picked up my car. Finally, I just picked up my car on July 6, 2009. When I arrived to Eurasian, my car was dead as a doornail. The passenger window had no tint as the rest of the windows do, the front pass. The tire was supposed to be replaced, the charges were an additional $4,000.00. The ignition is broken and Joe, the owner, told me there was a key stuck in the car since I dropped it off. Not true, I called the dealer where I bought the key and that was not my key! The airbag light is on, the radio does not work. The vehicle has been charging for 3 days and will not start. The driver arm rest is broken, the driver tint on the front window (driver side is terribly scratched, deep in several places), the alignment was not done.
Geico is of no help to resolve this matter. I am in Las Vegas helping my mom who is blind in one eye from cancer and Geico is telling me to drive a vehicle which won't start to Los Angeles. They said they have no place for me to take the car in Las Vegas. I stopped at a body shop on the way out of town (I left LA the day I picked up my car as I can't leave my mother alone), the estimate is $9,000.00 to fix just external, obvious parts of the vehicle. The gentleman said a lot of the parts claimed to be replaced were not and the hood has a huge dent in it and paint bubbles, as well as the car has a broken passenger arm rest and broken ignition. The airbag light is on. You are lucky if you can get the car to start. Please help if you can advise. Eurasian is ignoring me, my car I paid for myself is ruined. Geico said that because I did not choose a Geico shop, they will not help me facilitate the repairs.

I had a car accident on June 3, 2009 on Henderson Rd. and S. Gulph Mill Rd. in King of Prussia, PA. The accident was caused by a GEICO-insured Mr. Saket **, who recognized his fault, which was confirmed by the police report. Unfortunately, Mr. Saket was not driving his own car, but a new Mitsubishi Gallant, a car he rented from AVIS. For your Information, the Claim Department examiner was Amy ** and the contact number is 800 841-1003.
Though I called GEICO repeatedly, it took more than three weeks for the GEICO adjustor to show up to see the car. The estimate of the damages was $2,167.16, with the mention of repair in 7 days. But nothing happened, and the car has not been repaired even today. The estimate included only body repairs, though I told the adjustor that after the accident, I tried to drive to Philadelphia and the car vibrated on the front, which scared me of driving. I was told that something must be wrong and I should not drive it.
I have to contact GEICO many times, and after a period of total lack of response, though GEICO recognized that it was their insured's fault, the examiner finally told me that they cannot pay my damages because they were done by a rented car. They would pay if Mr. Saket would have driven his own car. Mr. Saket is fully insured with GEICO and was told that he could use his own insurance when renting a car.
We are now in week #6 after the accident, and GEICO claims that they are still investigating and waiting on some kind of report from AVIS Rental Co. (What for?). They refused to fix my car and to give me a rental car, but they gave me instead the runaround.
I am seventy years old, and I live in King of Prussia. Due to the current economic situation, I have to work at my age to support my self and to help a son with disabilities. I commute to Philadelphia for work. I need the car badly. For more than a month, I had to beg for rides or take 2 buses and wait in the storm and sometimes heavy rain, which is very difficult for a 70-year-old woman. GEICO does not care.
To add insult to injury, GEICO sent me in this 6-week period, not one, but two letters inviting me to join them for their good rates and services(?). Also, the law in Pennsylvania says that the car insurance is mandatory for property damages, and the other party in the accident, Mr. Saket assured us that he is fully insured to the satisfaction of the police officer. GEICO made Mr. Saket believe that he is fully insured. No specification was made in his policy about not being insured if he drives a rental car. I know that for a fact, because the examiner, Ms. Amy, told me very clearly that she needed time to search, to investigate, to find out who is going to pay, and to see the rental agreement and talk to AVIS Rental people to see if they would pay.
Apparently, Ms. Amy and her boss cannot figure out how they insure their own people; or knowingly, purposely, and fraudulently, they take money from the insured, hiding the fact that they are not insured when driving a rental car, though by law, they must insure us property damage while driving. How could we, the innocent insured people, know if GEICO's own agent/examiner cannot read and comprehend their own policy to make a decision? They just keep me in suspense with their research and investigating procedures, postponing as long as they could. This is the sixth week, and I'm just waiting.
Please publish my complaint. GEICO advertizes heavily their services on the media, especially on several TV channels right now. I want the world to know how they are paying their own claims (or not paying).

A GEICO insured client ran a stop sign running 45 mph and plowed into my vehicle, which is a total loss. This was on April 10, 2009. The driver lied to the police officer and stated he was on the road I was on and vice versa, and that he was only traveling 20 mph. The Wake Forest policewoman could not tell who was at fault at the accident scene, even though his vehicle traveled twice as far as mine. Later on, the GEICO driver called the Wake Forest Police Dept. and admitted fault stating he did not know where he was at, what road he was on, nor did he know the area. Guess what, he did not get charged with the accident.
Needless to say, GEICO denied my claim. So, I spent $1800 having the accident reconstructed. I was under the understanding that they would reissue it with a letter from the bank. I had the bank fax a letter and GEICO still refuses to issue a check in my name.
After two months, I'm still trying to resolve the issue. I did everything GEICO asked and they still refuse to resolve the issue. If I was asking for something unreasonable, I would understand but I was asking that the name on a $169.65 check be changed so it could be deposited.

Geico insurance company is a joke. I signed up with them online. There were very confusing multiple forms that their own agents did not understand. I ended up taking a full month and numerous phone calls to get it all straight. Then the automatic payments. I set them up for the 15th of the month. Well, Geico decided the 11th was okay. They overdrew my account. My overdraft protection covered it, but I was still charged a fee by my bank. Then we made a change and they didn't do the automatic payment that month. Then the next month was almost 250% of the original agreed upon amount. I called to question it and was told it was policy. Then I cancelled my policy. They told me I had to pay them on the spot, which I politely refused to do because of the amount demanded.
I demanded an itemized final statement. It was almost $800.00 less than what they had been demanding on the phone. I switched to Progressive and have had it two months now. No phone calls, no problems, no billing issues, nothing. My only problem now is whenever I see a lizard, I have this urge to run it over.

In mid-April, my husband and I gave one of the cars on our GEICO Policy, a Dodge Avenger, to my stepson Orlando "Michael" **, and all decided it would be best if he had his own GEICO policy with this vehicle. We agreed to make the down payment to get it activated. They insisted it had to be automatic debit. With Mike on the other line in a three-way call, they pressured me to name a date in advance. I named a date that I thought would be safe, April 30, with the agent's assurance that either the date or the bank could be changed if my husband did not agree, since he was not home at the time.
It was agreed that $384.85 would be taken out on 4/30. However, approximately 4/26, my husband discovered that due to a 1-week work furlough, we would not have enough in the bank to cover the charge, and we wanted to delay it. My husband called to ask if he could change the date to the second week of May. They were uncooperative, and the representative suggested he should go to Citizens Bank for help. My husband told them indeed he would go to the bank and stop the payment. The next morning, I went straight to Citizens Bank Customer Service and placed a stop payment, for a $25 fee. They said it had to be the exact amount, and fortunately, I had my notes with me from the three-way call. The stop payment was made for $384.85. Jesse, my customer service gentleman, assured me everything should be fine.
However, on May 5, the GEICO debit posted, inducing a hefty overdraft and insufficient funds fee. When I called to find out what was going on, the Citizens rep told me that GEICO had withdrawn $384.86 instead of $384.85, thus making it slide through, not an exact match for the stop payment. We can prove that the quote was $384.85 however, because they sent Mike a letter reflecting this down payment, along with the future payments to be made by Mike. We submitted a copy of this letter to our bank branch manager at Loudon Road in Concord, with whom we filed a Fraud complaint against GEICO. The manager was very understanding and didn’t even seem shocked. We are still waiting for a resolution in this matter.

On Feb. 11, 2006, I was involved with a drunk driver that almost hit me straight on. My truck was totaled, the drunk driver took off. Two witnesses took off following him, caught him where he lived. Now here's the best part. The courts awarded him & after a year of court battling, let him off & the judge agreed with the drunk driver(?) even though I was left with severe neck & back injuries! So Geico covered a little for me to go to physical therapy. Then I got told there was no help for me & I needed an operation.
Well then, I got the runaround from Geico! So one thing I learned from all this, don't ever insure yourself with Geico. We are paying for their commercials! Another thing that I told the district attorney & the detective also. Anybody out there who wants to protect themselves from injury, if some drunk or someone tries to do harm as they are coming at you with their vehicle, I repeat, don't brake! Speed up & knock them out of the way! If I had done this, I would not have these injuries due to the G-force that I sustained from impact on hitting the brake! And don't worry about your vehicle. Either way, Geico will have it totaled out anyhow & pay you nothing on it!
I found that Geico isn't the cheapest around as they claim. I found many companies out there that beat them hands down. I would advise people to check out Travelers Insurance company or AIG. If we stuck together, maybe we could put Geico under where they belong. Don't you think it is long enough to have them steal from people? A few people who took my advice are happier now that they aren't getting screwed. Oh, & Geico, if you are reading this, it's the only time that you go out of business ripping people off & it's about time. Soon you will be going under!

Now we are sacked with the medical bills and fixing our own truck (we have a 2004 Silverado full coverage insurance). GEICO, our insurance company, told me that I would have to pay for all damages before they could reimburse us "if they could recoup" the money.
No claim adjuster ever came out to look at the truck, and took pictures of the vehicle. We were told that GEICO could not go after them or file a claim unless we paid for everything. That is why I pay a premium every month. Well we found a new insurance provider, and we still haven’t gotten our truck fixed and still getting medical bills. My passenger is still in pain. I will do everything in my power to put or take customers away from Geico. For another reason, they hiked my insurance up to $250 a year because of what they told me. No other insurance company is using this lame excuse to steal from customers. That's a fact. Insurance companies are scams to begin with. We pay and if we are good, we get nothing back. In January of this year, we were rear-ended by an uninsured motorist. We were waiting at a stoplight. When the light turned green, the woman driving up to the intersection never slowed down and slammed into us. In the passenger's seat, my head slammed into my knees giving me an immediate lump on my head and it rattled my husband and I. We had several days of headaches and soreness. It was very frustrating to find out that she was not insured. So, we turned to Geico to provide the service that we pay for which I understood to be returning our vehicle to its original state. Isn't that what insurance is for?!
We just moved from HI to CA and were not in our home yet, so I could not update Geico with a permanent address. Although the car was in CA, they told me my coverage was still the HI coverage which meant there was a $500 deductible for being hit by an uninsured motorist. That fee is waived with CA insurance but they are not willing to waive it based on our not so unique situation.
When we were hit, the back of the driver's seat split where the leather meets the plastic sleeve and the bumper and metal brackets were damaged. We also found out that the exhaust alignment was off. Over 6 weeks, we found ourselves in a battle with the adjusters. First it was with Mike **, who is a complete idiot. How do I know this? When he called me and asked where my car was, "Um, aren't you the adjuster?" I also learned that he very clearly said that he had nothing to do with our claim (check the file notes). Just after he washed his hands of us, he denied an extension of our rental car. He's not our adjuster, but making decisions on our claim status (again, check the file notes)? He's an idiot and a jerk. Our claim was turned over to Chris **, also combative.
Let me take a moment to state that the only damage being approved for repair is the bumper even though the moment before the accident, our seat was intact and the moment after, it was not, and then the discovery of the exhaust alignment. Neither were being approved. I went to Ed ** (when he would finally call me back). He shared that there was confusion between the shops and some paperwork that was supposed to be in the car was not and some other excuses and supporting his adjusters. He promised to call me back by 4/1. I had to call him on 4/3. Surprised? Me neither. I left another message on 4/3 and Chris ** called me back. They didn't think the damage is related to the accident because they had never seen it before. Well, now you have. So fix it, please. The response was no.
I escalated to Ed's manager, Tom **, on 4/6. After some back and forth, on 4/9, he gave me a long, condescending explanation of how the industry was ripe with fraud and that should make me understand why my car wasn't going to be fixed. I asked, with all of the man hours you have spent telling me no, as someone who is not trying to get one over on the insurance company that I pay for, you are going to risk me cancelling my coverage completely for a fix that couldn't cost more than $300 (it turns out it costs $288)?! He assured me that he would look into it and get back to me.
Tom did not get back to me. I have not received an update in 15 days and I no longer have a rental car. I called Tom again on 4/24. He completely trivialized our accident, making statements like there was no impact. He said that although the damage could happen, Geico could not prove that the damage was from the uninsured motorist slamming into the back of our car. So, should I drive around with a mechanic to evaluate the state of my car moment to moment to prove something to Geico?
I am cancelling all three of our policies. How could I have any level of confidence that if something happened again or, God forbid, I have to use the umbrella policy, that Geico would truly provide the service I pay for? The answer is, I cannot.
Note: Debbie works in the call center, I talked to twice and she is awesome. Thank you Debbie.

The tarp that was covering it flew off and hit the front end of our car. It broke the front bumper and did some underbody damage. We never contacted GEICO about it. We called the state police, described the vehicle, and they called us back with the insurance information. We contacted that insurance company, and they fixed everything back to normal. I was also told that I would not be reimbursed for my lost wages or any out of pocket medical not paid by my PIP unless I agreed to settle. In my opinion, this forces a person to settle early at a low amount just to reclaim their out of pocket expenses and is unacceptable.
GEICO is very unhelpful and this kind of behavior is what causes people to run to attorneys, resulting in higher premiums for all of us. I will be cancelling my GEICO policy as soon as practical! Because I am an NYC bus operator, my job was in jeopardy.
I called GEICO, and now, they're telling me there is nothing they can do. State Farm called GEICO and informed that it was a mistake and sent the correct information. Next I knew why they wanted to send my car to their body shop. They want to use after-market body parts on my new car with 9,000 miles on it. They did not even reveal that to me, and I only came to know about it from my repair shop. Now the situation stands that they still are unwilling to give any Honda authorized body part, but Honda says that if otherwise my warranty on my new car will be void.
In this situation, I am paying $500 out of pocket so that my warranty is not voided. The adjuster given to me has been horrible. He neither knows the rules nor the policies. Also in my policy, nowhere it is written that it is GEICO’s policy to use after-market parts. It says it would return the car in pre-loss condition, which definitely would not be the fact in my case. Horrible service for all the cute customer service and advertisement. GEICO would rip anyone off the low price they claim to give in the first instance. In Sept 1996, my auto insurance was covered by GEICO for the maximum amount for safe coverage to include uninsured/unlicensed drivers. We drove to Cape Hatteras, NC for a one week vacation 10 years overdue. We arrived late, 11pm and were tired. We decided the next morning to get food. So early 10am we drove a 4-mile drive to the store. A torrential downpour was encountered and the vehicles immediately front, due to visibility, were slamming their brakes, hydroplaning and colliding with their respective front vehicles. We also collided with the vehicle in front at about 5-10 miles per hour - that I am sure of because I was fully cognizant of my closeness and the situation.
I turned around to see if all were okay as they were. Upon assurance, I began to turn my head around when I noticed a vehicle behind approaching extremely fast from about 500 meters. So fast I didn't have time to prepare the family. We are hit so severe I could not remember waking the next day in the hospital with one of my daughters. My wife and other daughter were diagnosed and released with back pains and shock. I later found I was ticketed for speeding 45 in a 35 mph zone. Knowing that was in error.
Weeks later, I drove back to photo the posted 45 mph Speed Limit Sign. I even collected eyewitness confirmation from those who observed the crash. Their testimony was as I reported. I consulted GEICO, the Attorney General of New Hampshire and North Carolina and was given excuse that NH and NC had an understanding of uninsured motorist that this particular incident was left to the insurance company's discretion. Well that was just the start. To this day, my family and I have extreme back problems, herniated discs, pinched nerves, headaches, and migraines.
When I learned I had only one recourse, GEICO, my hope was for the best. It began when my family members were encountered by GEICO agents requesting that they sue me for improper driving - taking advantage of the bogus report against me. Not only that, but our medical problems encountered too numerous delays and copays of ourselves to cover their neglect. This disrupted our family so much for the years to come. I had to drop from attendance at a university due to the extreme pain, still encountered today. My daughter has migraines and the rest of the family has back, leg, and neck problems.
I pity the GEICO GECKO should I ever encounter it en route of my travels. I was blacklisted for nearly ten years from other insurance companies. To this day, I search for insurance companies that insure for legal liability rather than economic liability. I wish only to forewarn those seeking reputable insurance companies. Do not be fooled by advertising. At this late date and time, I searched many for assistance until now I happened by your website. It has been 12 years and to this day we suffer. No one has heard us and no one cares.

In November, I got a quote from GEICO for $542.00 for a 6-month premium. I jumped on it and the insurance started on 12/2. In late December (before Christmas), I got a call saying that they were going to raise my premium to $1,100 for 6 months, and I had until February 22 to accept this offer. I asked them why there were raising it. I have never had a claim on insurance and had good credit. They said that there were two speeding tickets on my record that I did not disclose (one by me and one by my husband). Those tickets were 4 years old. They only asked if I had any tickets in the last 3 years. Also, I had GEICO when I got the tickets, and had GEICO for 2 years after that.
I checked my policy online with GEICO, and it said my premium was still $542. I called GEICO again and was told again that I had until February 22 to decide if I was going to accept their new premium offer of $1,100. I explained that I would like something in writing and was told that I would be getting something at some point. Today (January 2), I get an email from GEICO about my policy premium (supposed to be deducted today). When I attempt to login, I get an error that my policy has been cancelled. I called GEICO and explained that I was told I had until February 22, and they told me that the other TWO representatives were mistaken, and that my policy was not cancelled; and that I had until January 11 to accept their offer. My concern was that someone was telling me something and wouldn't send me anything in writing to confirm that my policy was still in effect until the 11th.
What if I had an accident tomorrow? Would I be covered? The supervisor says I would, but online says I've been cancelled. I asked for access to my online account until the 11th and was told that they can't give it to me. They also said my letter had been mailed on the 31st and wouldn't send me anything in email to verify coverage until the 11th. I will never, ever go to GEICO again. I understand that things can change premium quotes, but mine almost doubled. It worries me that they refuse to send me anything in writing saying I am covered. I'm supposed to believe the representative that is telling me that the previous two representatives were wrong? GEICO is a total rip off. I think what really irritated me is that I've had GEICO for years and left. I thought it was a mistake to leave and wanted to come back to GEICO, and this is what I get. Glad I left and will never be back.

I was told I could get my car fixed immediately but then an investigator called and said he needed to meet with me so we met and he did his investigation. Talked to family members, neighbors and several managers at my employer all of which have a different opinion about when it happened.
Now I understand the reason for the investigation but its' taken about two weeks and I've had to drive my car around damaged with 1 headlight and I've just been getting the runaround from Geico and its investigators. He also was trying to coach my bosses into saying the accident happened way earlier! What kind of crook does that? After talking to several representatives and faxing several pieces of documentation the bill is now 109.00 dollars. My complaint is why do I owe anything? I have been a customer for 8 years and have always paid my bill in full on the day it was due. I was involved in an accident while living in Orlando, Florida. There were no tickets issued as the authorities could not determine who was at fault (my word against theirs). I was sent home because my car was still functioning though it had major damage.
I immediately called Geico to report it, and they gave me instructions for obtaining a rental car (part of my coverage but with a 30 day limit) while my car was being fixed. They said a rep would come out to evaluate the damage, and they also gave me the name of dealer garages they recommend for car repairs.
The rep did not show up for 3 days or so. When he did, he coordinated getting my car towed to the auto repair shop that Geico recommended (a Ford dealership actually). The garage stated my car would be fixed within 10 days.
After 10 days I called the garage and they stated that they didn't start work because they were waiting for the Geico rep to come out and inspect the vehicle and the agree to the repairs the garage claimed were needed. When I finally contacted the Geico rep, we met at the garage and he stated that my car was totaled. I went home and waited for the next step.
Days went by again and I called Geico, they put me in touch with my rep who now stated that his decision to total my car was overturned. My car was now NOT totaled. So we went BACK to the garage to tell them to go ahead and do the repairs...estimate was about $8,000.
This was approaching 20 days after the accident and 20 days into my rental coverage. So once the garage received the final decision from Geico to repair my car (having agreed on the repair estimate), the garage scheduled work....BUT they now didn't have an opening to begin work for another week or 2.
During this time I was informed that the other car had filed a suit against my insurance and Geico paid them $10,000 no questions asked.
By the time the repairs on my car were finished, I owed the rental company $900 because my rental car coverage was exceeded. I made several calls to Geico to get them to pay this since they were the ones who stalled the whole process and I was denied. I continued on this frustrating and time consuming pursuit for fairness for several months only to be denied.
Geico paid a $10,000 claim from my policy to someone with no questions asked, no tickets issued, no fault determined in the accident - they gave me the run around when trying to get my car repaired (inexperienced rep maybe???) which cost me $900 for a car rental - yet they would not cover my rental expense.
I was furious and helpless against the insurance giant, and I would like restitution.

I argued the premium with them after my buying a new car. Meanwhile, I was also shopping online with other companies. However,Geico assumed I said Yes in the phone and agreed with the premium number they offered me. Actually I never said Yes or Agree to renew or Paid the renew fee to Geico. Now I get the much better offer from another big company. I'd like to stop with Geico now, but you cannot imagine that the Geico charges me on the new car within 2 weeks after I bought from the dealer. (The dealer always allow 2 weeks to finalize insurance company).
Now I feel so angry about Geico, why Geico assumed I said Yes to continue with them? Anyway, the dealer allowed me 2 weeks to finalize the insurance company. Why Geico charges me over $10.00 just with 2 weeks? I argued with them and refused to pay that charged fee, I also asked them to show me the proof when and how I have said yes, but Geico doesn't show me the proof and keep the wishful thinking on its part. We just went over our records and saw that we had not yet taken her off of our policy, because she had JUST moved out of our house.
Geico obviously just doesn't want to have to pay this at all; even though both parties were insured through them. They are causing our daughter alot of mental anguish by taking her--instead of the owner of the car she was driving to court--even though she WAS INSURED with GEICO.

I was a Geico policyholder from 1985 to 2003. That is, until the day I received a letter from Geico stating that they were cancelling my policy. In all those years, I had had 1 minor fender bender, my fault. I had never even used the glass policy for my windshield in all those years. I contacted Geico concerning this notice of cancellation. I asked the customer service rep why Geico would cancel my insurance. Her response? She said it had to do with 2 speeding tickets I had rec'd in 1998 and 1999, 3-4 yrs previously! However, she let me know what the real reason was. You see, since I had been a Policyholder for so many years, I was what they called Grandfathered In. This means that I could not have my rates raised. I wasn't with Geico all those years for nothing. The rates were AWESOME! No other insurance company could touch them!
So, in order for Geico to raise the rates of all us long-term policyholders, they had to find something, anything, to cancel coverage over. So, Geico cancelled my coverage over old tickets. She responded that she could start a new policy for me, if I wanted, but it would be much higher than the rate I had previously been paying. My rates at the time of the cancellation, for 2 vehicles, was approx $650.00/year. The new rate she quoted me - $2400.00/yr. I was floored! I asked why it was so high? She said the company set my rate at that price due to those 2 old tickets. I walked away from Geico that day. I have never looked back. I will NEVER call them, even to get a quote.

First of all, I was three months pregnant, and only 18 years old. My parents had recently kicked me out of the house and I had just moved in with my fiance. I only had a permit, and I know it was wrong of me to be driving without a licensed driver, but in a way, I kind of had to.
I dropped my boyfriend off at work one day, and as I was driving back home, I hit the back of a car. The car I hit didnt even get messed up that much, my boyfriend car got more messed up. I admit, the accident was my fault. Since I was pregnant, the police officer said he was going to call an ambulance, even though I told him I was fine. The ambulance came and asked everyone if they were okay (me, plus the two other people in the car). Everyone had said they were fine.
Well, when the police officer asked for our insurance card (which my boyfriends father was supposed to be paying), I handed it to him. They hadnt told me that it was declined of anything. I found out the next day that there was no insurance on that car. Now, that was not my fault. As far my boyfriend and I knew, his father was paying it.
Now, Geico (the other peoples insurance) is trying to sue, because one person is trying to claim an injury. When the ambulance had arrived the day of the accident, they said that they were fine. Only after the ambulance left did they start complaining. Now, they have been sending me letters for nearly a year trying to get me to send them over 6,000 dollars. But, the weird thing is, every single letter they have sent me has had a different amount of money on the claim. I have sent them many, many letters trying to explain to them that I am out of work, and I have a young daughter (9 months as of now), and I have no way of paying this. Now, they are trying to sue me.
I dont understand-it really wasnt my fault that there was no insurance on the car. Is it right for them to be coming after me? I do have my license now (which I cant afford to lose either, my daughter needs doctors appointments every month), and the only reason I was able to get that, was if I paid the court a $200.00 fine, and take a driving improvment class, which I have done both. My story is a very interesting and exciting one. I'll be very brief. All my life I've always wanted to be the voice in the dark for the underdog. After teaching college for over 23 years, a friend introduced me to the Insurance business which I loved and have been in since 1986. I own my own Agency and that gave me some insight into some of the behaviors of the insurers an inquiring mind may find questionable. I've been compelled from time to time to question some of these issues myself. It either got me muffled attention or, in some questionable way, got my independent Agent contract dramatically terminated. As lawyers you know about the "... termination without cause clause..." inherent in all agent or broker contracts. I know the lawyers and businesses put it there to muzzle agitators or "whistle blowers", as they are described in legalese.
Now back to my MVA story. I've insured continuously and accident- free with GEICO since 1977. I'll be 70 years old in October 2008. In December, 2007 I was hit by a driver who was making an illegal left turn without checking her blind spot. Then again in May, 2008 I had a hit-and-run driver, in a stolen-van, come off his Stop sign and T-boned my vehicle on the left rear-passenger side, over the left quarter panel, spinning me around in a violent pitt manouvre at a 4-way intersection in my neighborhood. Both accidents were clearly not my fault and GEICO gave me a signed document to prove it.
A few months later when I ws getting ready to renew my vehicle insurance though, I started getting phone calls with offers from different insurance companies wanting to cover me. How they know these things one wonders. No one could beat my GEICO renewal rate. Allstate, however, said their rate was based on the points in my record. I asked, "Which record?" seeing I've never had any points in my 22+ years of insurance with GEICO and 43 years of being licensed to drive. In my panic, I called GEICO and they faxed me a letter confirming my not-at-fault status in the accidents. I later renewed my policy at a lower rate than i had the previous 6 months and went aobut my merry way.
Just yesterday as I was running some quotes I thought to pull my driving record. There and behold someone had put 6 points on my record for those accidents. GEICO said they didn't and they advised me to contact my Motor Vehicle Administration for an answer. That's what I'll do this morning. Last night I was very restless in bed fuming with anger and wondering how best to deal with this shock the next day. As I laid in bed looking at my dark ceiling at 2:00 a.m. my Consumer Advocate instinct kept reminding me that I could have been a victim of Age Discrimination, which I've heard siad to be rampant of the roads of America. Is it possible that, although I was not at fault, whoever put those points on my record decided to do tht based on my age? I will find that out this morning at our local DMV in Largo, MD.

Our 19 year old son purchased a vehicle from a private individual while out of state at college. The car had bad brakes. The brakes failed within the first 2 or 3 days of purchase, and he hit another vehicle. His was a late model vehicle, and the damage exceeded the value of the car. We donated the vehicle to a charitable organization. The owner of the other vehicle eventually submitted a claim.
Ever since that time, GEICO has been investigating the claim to establish whether we owned the vehicle at the time of the accident. Since my son had actual use of the vehicle for only a few days and bought it from a private individual whom he didn't know, there is no bill of sale. It took a lot of jumping through hoops to obtain a copy of the out of state title, and that was provided to GEICO. We provided copies of his payment on a loan he took out to purchase the vehicle. GEICO says the copy of the title is not good enough because it is dated after the accident. The loan papers are not acceptable because the loan was not secured by the vehicle. In short, all the documentation we have provided is not acceptable to them.
So now, they send us threatening letters to essentially put us under oath and take depositions. Is this how you treat a 30 year customer? Review the facts: A 19 year old kid buys a defective car. The brakes fail, and he hits a car. He provides evidence he has been paying on the car. He has evidence he held title to the vehicle. If he did not own the vehicle when he wrecked it, why would a 19 year old kid buy a wrecked car he would never get to drive? And if he did not own the vehicle at the time of the accident, wouldn't we have let the previous owner deal with all this hassle? GEICO refuses to accept the obvious and now treats us like we are engaged in fraud or something, instead of the loyal customers we have been over the past 30 year.
They refuse to acknowledge the obvious conclusion that can be drawn on the facts and do not even offer an alternative scenario to explain the facts that have been provided. Readers, it is a bit shocking to find that a company you trusted is only too willing to throw you overboard on the slightest whim. We are totally fed up and will be taking our business elsewhere, something our 30 year record of loyalty would suggest is something we do not do on a whim.
Right now, the consequences are the aggravation of being sent threatening correspondence. The potential consequences are GEICO's potential refusal to pay a just claim

I have been a Gieco customer for some time with no complaints. However, when I renewed my insurance with them the last time, I was told that it was time for a vehicle inspection. They gave me the name of a company in the area that does the inspections as well as their number. They went ahead and renewed the insurance, but stated that I needed to do this vehicle inspection asap or it would affect my coverage. Being a single mother working 2 jobs- I just didnt think about it again. I work 7am to 7pm or later most days. I also drive 30 miles one way to get to my job- so I am on the road quite a bit. Therefore, insurance is quite important. Had I have known what they meant-had I known the importance of this formality.
so- on July 4th I had a rare day off and was traveling into town for the July 4th parade. I had my 3 children and two dogs in the car with me. Suddenly, the car started to shake and before I knew what was going on, I was out of control. I found out later that we had had a blow out- the tire had totally come apart leaving us traveling down the highway on just the rim. We lost control and flew across 4 lanes of traffic- two lanes of oncoming traffic- through a median with a deep ditch in the middle and ended up in the ditch on the other side of the road. Our lives were saved by the grace of God and nothing else. I was thankful no one was hurt.
So- when I contacted Geico to file the claim, my only worry was meeting the deductible and finding a shop that could do a good job on my repairs. My back and front bumpers had been damaged= the back shredded- the front fixable- and the lower panels all around the car dented and scratched pretty badly. I spoke with the Geico rep for several minutes- she was very kind- asking after my children and talking to me about the car seat- ect. Then, after taking all of my pertinent info- she informs me that there is nothing that Geico will do -even though this is a no-fault accident- because I do not have comp or collision insurance. I said that was not possible because I have full coverage insurance- she told me that the words full coverage were a misrepresentation-
I then reminded her that I am still making payments on my car and that by law I have to be covered- she put me on hold to research. She came back to tell me that because I did not complete the vehicle inspection when the policy was renewed- the comp and collision had been dropped. I said had I have known what would have happened, I would have made arrangements for someone else to take my car in- something- but I was never made to understand the importance of the inspection. my payments are taken out automatically- so I know I am paying each month- but why would I bother to pay for something that is not going to cover my car when I need it to be covered- What was I paying for? I am now stuck with my car being messed up and no way to get it fixed.
Yesterday- July 17= I called to find out about getting the comp and collision added back in. I was told that now, they will not add that insurance without the inspection- and when I do renew- when I do add that back in- my insurance will now triple. From appx 60 a month to almost 130 a month. I asked the man why- I said it was unfair that I was being penalized for an accident that was a no fault accident- one that Geico didnt even pay for - it was like I should not have even reported the accident- he then went on to tell me that the rates went up not because of me- but a formula that takes into consideration accidents in my state - accidents of cars like mine- and costs of repairs of those accidents.
So- now I am being penalized for an accident that was not my fault- one that my car is not being fixed from- and I am also being penalized for accidents people I dont even know and never will have had all over Florida. I told someone last night if I saw the Geico Gecko at this point, I would choke it to death or run it over with my broken car. How fair is this?
The damages are to my beautiful car- what was a showpeice is now a peice of junk on the outside and I can not afford to do anything with it. If I open the trunk I have to unwire the bumper to do so- and if I forget to wire it back up I am traveling down the road and hear swishing which is my bumper dragging- I have to pull over and wire my baby back together. UGH. I cant afford to fix it- and am afraid there is unseen damage that may be dangerous for me to travel as far as I do each day with my precious cargo. I just want my car to be whole again and to be safe.

I have been a Nationwide customer for 10 years, with impeccable credit scores, and recently became aware of the fact that my daughter (who is a full time, straight A graduate student) was to be dropped due to her non-preferred classification (she had 4 not at fault accidents in the past 3 years)... Although my agent was looking for options for us, out of curiousity, I began looking myself. What a mistake!!!
In my quest to ONLY get a quote, I found myself committed to two policies from Geico (since the Geico online system only allows you to enter 3 vehicles in one transaction)... When I finally called the customer service number on July 14th and spoke to Patrick, he assured me that he was able to make one policy with all 4 cars and drivers at a cost of 2,136.80.....To me, that was an amazing offer, and I eagerly allowed Geico to take $292.42 from my checking account. I had no idea that they were expunging another $382.01 the next day (7/15), for the second policy (that was supposedly combined with the first one the day before)...
Within just 48 hours, the quoted cost for our insurance doubled....to over $4,700.00 FOR a 6 month premium (after they removed almost $700.00 from my account!!!) We have cancelled all policies (THANK GOD) and will patiently await the refund they promise.... If I were to make a request of this company, it would be to take a breathe, think it through, and wait 48 hours to give your customers a reasonable quote.... I would much rather know your bottom line FIRST... than to be tricked into a commitment after the promise.. hopefully the continous postal (and email) correspondence will come to an end soon...

I received my auto insurance renewal notice today and my premiums increased. Now mind you, it's a small increase, but I have a clean driving record and no claims/no accidents. In all the years I've had insurance with Geico, I have had a premium decrease. I called and spoke to a customer service rep and was told my rate increased because of the high accident rate in the state of Virginia. I have to pay for someone else's mistake? Do they even hear what they are saying?
I was told, because you are such a good/safe driver, you only had a small increase. I feel this is unethical and fail to see how this can be legal. The folks with accidents should be made to pay for their mistakes, not the other way around. This employee was very comfortable with what he said, very accepting of this. Are the Geico employees brainwashed? What recourse do I have other than cancelling my car insurance?
The consequence is less money I will have every month because I am once again paying for someone else's mistakes. I can barely afford to feed my family.

I have been a customer w/Geico for many years insuring 1 to 3 vehicles. I have been so satisfied w/them, I even insured my new home purchase through Geico. I recently noticed that my monthly installments had jumped from $80/month, to $168. I phoned a customer service rep appox. July 7th (who looked at my policy and agreed that my record is IMPECCABLE) inquiring why and was informed that the increase in premium was due to my 24 year old son's (bad) driving record and a recent suspension.
I had my son on my policy when he was 19 years old. He has not lived under my roof in 5 years and for that matter hasn't driven a vehicle in over 13 months nor ever wants to again. On 7/14/08 I receive notice from Geico that they are now cancelling my policy due to HIS driving record and that this will affect my credit history. What can I do to have a 24 year old MAN removed from my insurance policy? As I stated, he doesn't drive nor ever wants to again...so will not purchase insurance himself. Please advise what can be done and as quickly as possible...my cancellation is pending! Thank you

After being in an accident, I contacted Geico and spoke to Jackie, who informed me that on liability policies Geico only takes in and process the claim from the other driver . Jackie, though personable, informed me that I would not receive any representation for my damages in making a clam against the other driver or their insurance company.
I feel that I have been left to fend for myself. After speaking to other drivers with experience in these situations, this practice is not standard. I do not expect coverage on a liability only plan, but I do expect fair representation from Geico.
I will most likely not receive compensation for the damages to my vehicle, while the other driver will end up covered once legal proceeding occur. Cost to me about 1,500-2,000.

Can I say the insurance companies can throw insurance fraud at anybody and get away with it, when in reality they are the ones commiting insurance fraud. This all starts when I purchased a 1987 Dodge ramcharger off craigslist back in august of 2007. Well I purchased my auto policy through Geico and strutted my happy bottom down to the local DMV to make all my paperwork straight for the vehicle. Not two days later I was involved in a three car accident, me being the one in the back, that was determined as none of our fault. It was the pedestrians that did NOT have the right of way that bolted across the street causing all three of the vehicles to slam on our brakes and slide into one another. My vehicle sustained little to no damage, but the other two had a nice little fender bender. I was in no need to claim anything for my vehicle... exactly what I told Geico when I informed them of the incident. A couple of months passed and I still have not heard anything from them about the accident, until about a week after I called for curiosities.
That next week I recieved a nice little nasty-gram from Geico and a bill from allstate for the other vehicles damage. Geico claimed I was not insured at the time and that they will not continue the investigation for the accident. So now I am stiffed with a $5000.00 bill. Now I had the policy paperwork that I recieved via E-mail off their e-policy system and the temporary insurance cards with the dates that I opened up the policy, exactly two days before the date of the loss. I called around being as furious as I was trying to get some clarification on the situation and find out exactly what is going on with my policy.
They claim that they have nothing on file for me and refused to send me out paperwork regarding my policy information... they meaning a nasty woman that goes by Anna D. that LOVES to record every phone conversation possible. Again about a week or so after the conversations, I recieve my insurance cards in the mail with a different policy effectivness date AFTER the accident. Then I checked online with the e-policy system to find out that my original paperwork was changed and no longer available for my original dates! Amaizing what computer techs they have right? My job with the navy got a little hectic and I had to start going out to sea quite often, so I had to agree to pay the $5000.00, and leave it at that for then.
I get back from deployment and fix up an old gas saving beater I had and had the policy switched over to it... or what I thought was switched over. I was driving the 1992 Nissan sentra for about 5 months until a UPS truck plowed into the rear end of me. A month passes by and I recieve nothing on the accident. I call yet again to find out, and behold... "sorry Mr. S., that vehicle was not covered during the time of the accident." Not covered, I had the policy changed over and have the policy paperwork for those dates! They immidiatly went into me having to initiate a new policy with them, which I did. So I recieved yet another set of insurance cards and policy paperwork with even more random dates on them for my so called Geico insurance policy.
Now I assumed that everything was A-O-K until I went into the Silverdale office to complain about my situation. I informed them that I was unsure as to if i was insured or not and that all my paperwork was very confusing. The agent looked some random stuff up on their little scheming machines and pulled up a lot of files that didnt even match what I had. At that time I was extremely frustrated and told them that I need some sort of paperwork that prooves that I was covered from that day on... that I wasnt paying for an insurance policy that wasnt insuring me. Well they made copies of all my paperwork and faxed them off to some bighead at corporate. I recieved a call from an investigator telling me he had to meet with me to go over some policy paperwork. I though, sweet... maybe I will have an insurance policy that actually insures me. NOT!
The investigator was an agent from the insurance fraud department in the state of Washington. They claim that all the paperwork I had was backdated for the dates of the accident and that I did it. They told me I was commiting insurance fraud. Now in the state of washington, thats a class C felony and can be sentenced a maximum of 5 years in prison with a minimum of 1. I freaked out. To this day I still am.
I found myself a nice legal representation to hold my case, and have been sitting on that. I waited two days from the investigator visit and dropped Geico then headed over to the local Allstate office. When the allstated agent was setting up py policy, she could not find ANY proof that my policy ever existed with geico! She even made phone calls and found nothing on my name. There is also a central computer system that insurers use that... you guessed it, my name wasn't even in. So what this all boils down to is that somewhere, somehow, someone screwed up and tried covering their butts by hitting the delete key and pointing the finger.
By the way, 9 out of 10 cases of insurance fraud are convicted. I am still waiting on mine for paperwork that I recieved from Geico. What I have had to pay so far is $5000.00 of all my savings, many hours of stressful sleepless nights. Threats to stop calling and asking for policy documents. Lies from a massive corporation. False paperwork. Threats of insurance fraud. Worries of possible jail time and a hefty lawer bill... the list goes on. At this day, I am still worried as to how the outcome will turn out.

My husband and I have been insured with Geico insurance for our automobile policy (policy #2016210011) for several years. We are responsible drivers. My husband drives an 18 wheeler for Coca Cola and has never had a violation since he attained his license when he was 16 yeas old. I do not drive for a living but I also have no violations on my driving record. In November 2006 my husband and I only owned one car and it was insured through Geico. In July 2006 my oldest son and my husband called Geico asking about the cost of insurance if our son were to attain a license and insure a car that my sister was planning to give him. Our son never followed through with this as my sister did not give him the car until February 2007.
In November 2006 I had oustanding unpaid charges on my Geico bill. When I looked into why we owed more than I thought we should I learned that Geico had added our oldest son, then 19, to our policy without our knowledge or consent and that we had been charged for this since July 2006. I immediately contacted Geico as our son, did not reside in our home and had not for over a year prior to this. I also learned that the date that they originally added him to our policy was approximately two weeks prior to him attaining his first driver's license. I asked Geico to remove him from the policy and to refund us the charges. I was informed me that they only offer "family" policies and that all members of the home must be insured on the policy unless I can provide proof of other insurance and/or a signed statement that he did not reside in our home.
I immediately faxed a signed statement that our son did not reside in our home. I explained that I doubted our son had insurance as he did not own a car. I explained that, at the time, I did not know where he was living. I even offered very personal and embarrassing family information regarding the fact that our son had been questioned by at least 2 police departments on two different occasions and neither department would have my home listed as his address.
I begged Geico customer service to call either of the two police departments to inquire about our our son's given address as they would have better information than I. Additionally I asked Geico to send investigators to our home and offered that they could come at on any day at any time and assured them that they would not find our oldest son residing with us. They never followed through on any of my requests. My husband and I provided the signed statement. We have not ever been refunded the money.
Since then we have continued to be charged for our oldest son even tough I have, on numerous occasions called, emailed and faxed information to Geico regarding this issue. They claim not having received the documents. Our son recently finally provided us with proof of other insurance. Unfortunately he did not have insurance for several months, as he did not own a vehicle and had nothing to drive or insure, and we, provided all of the insurance documentation to Geico as well as signed statments regarding the fact that our son did not reside in our home. Although Geico has now removed him from our policy they still insist that we are responsible for the period July 2006-February 2007. Additionally, we have yet to receive a refund for the period that our son did have insurance.
We love our son. He has not always been the most responsible person which is why he was not been permitted to reside in our home. It seems illegal or, at the very least, unethical, for my husband and I to be required to pay to insure a person for whom we are not responsible and that has never been permitted to drive our vehicles. My husband and I have remained with Geico through all of this for fear that they will not respond to us at all if we are not current policy holders.
I have repeatedly asked Geico the following questions but the questions are simply ignored and have never been addressed: 1. Has Geico rectified their practices regarding placing a person who has not yet received a driver's license on another person's policy? 2. Has Geico has rectified their practice of placing a person on the policy of another person without the knowledge or consent of the policyholder? 3. When can I expect my refund?
Is there any advice you can give us regarding how to proceed with Geico? We would like to be reimbursed for the period July 2006 - February 2007. We ahve been charged approximately 1500. for insurance for a person that does not reside in our home and for whom we have no responsibility. We would also like to know how we can avoid this in this future should our son not renew his insurance policy. Thank you.

My accident was in December 2007. My husband called GEICO immediatly. This turned into a big nightmare. One of our headlights were out and my husband drives one way home in the dark 50. He even came close to getting hit by and ambulance driving in the middle of the highway one night! It took weeks to hear back from Geico, they finally told us that they had no claim adjuster in Nebraska. They requested that my husband fax in the estimate.
Same process, only this time they argued that the body shop was priced to high. He charged everything the same as he did the first time and now it was too high!?!? That took another month to settle. We ended up forking over more money!
When we went to get our car fixed Geico told us we had to take care of the car rental ourselves. Unlike the previous time. So then there was another arguement and battle. Meanwhile my husband was once again driving with only one headlight...
With all of the delays we couldn't pay our premium and our policy expired. Geico told us we lost our "preferred status" which also included a test my husband could have taken online to lower our premiums even more! Yes, you are right, this we were not told about until after we lost our "preferred status".
I was told to talk to Devva because she could help get me back onto the preferred status list and all I got was more run around. She flat out told me she didn't see why it was so upsetting because our car was drivable he entire time. Isn't that why we pay car insurance? To get our car fixed and not have to drive around with broken headlights?

Immediately we paid off her debts with her own money. I did the right thing contacting Geico informing them of her passing. The Geico supervisor immediately froze her account, sending back the checks of mom's final debts, including her funeral check! They bounced her funeral check! How shocking! The other checks were two medical bills, the gas bill, a telephone bill, all of which were debts incurred by mom before she passed away. There was also a final rent check to give us time to handle her personal possessions.
There was no way either of us could afford to pay her debts from our own finances. Not only were we charged insufficient fees by some of her creditors as well as late fees, yesterday I received mom's Geico statement for May. They charged her account for 10 return draft fees since some of the checks were sent back through more than once. Geico raped her frozen account for $250.00. I have had to borrow $3000.00 to final out mom's finances. Since then, a few more bills have trickled in, another medical bill, electric bill, cable etc... in which I have to find a way to pay. I couldn't imagine using them as my insurance carrier. I just want people to know what they are really made of.
This has been very frustrating and totally humiliating for my sister and I and am sure my mom, if she is watching is totally outraged! The money is in the account and eventually we will get it back, but not before Geico got their share.

She is a single working mother and needed a car to get to work so she had to rent a car to get back and forth to work, geico ins refused to pay for the rental for some unknown reason so my daughter had to pay for it out of pocket and this is causing her great hardship. Eight months ago a seventeen year old girl decided it would be wise to run a stop sign while I was driving down the cross road, which by the way didn't have a stop sign. You guessed it, she was a gieco customer. The wreck was enough to completely total my vehicle. At that point I was just glad to be alive.
Gieco handled the property claim(my truck) very well. I recieved enough money to pay off the loan and a little bit over in a reasonable time. The morning after the accident I awoke to terrible pain in my back. The middle of my back felt like it was twisted and I could barely move my neck. Shards of pain were consuming my back. The hospital had a five hour wait and no air condition so I decided to wait and go to the Urgent Care Treatment.
After numerous doctor visits, mri's, and physical therapy I was still in terrible pain. Unable to work I still felt like I was in good hands. The insurance companies are large corporations, I've paid my dues. There is no reason they shouldn't take care of me after all it wasn't my fault. I filed my paper work with my insurance for the personal injury protection plan that I pay for every month. They politely explain that while being disabled from work I could recieve two hundred dollars a week. Hah!. I now have enough money to pay for gas and maybe some groceries. What a joke. Meanwhile my back is just killing me whenever I try and move off the couch. It takes about three months for the old checking account to hit zero.
But I felt assured, the Gieco claims adjuster, Welsey told me everything was going to be taken care of. He told me just as soon as I was done with the doctor's that he would cover my loss wages, pain and suffering and all my medical expenses. That sounded pretty good but my back was still hurting. A nice cortizone shot to the shoulder blade took care of the mind numbing pain in the middle of my back but my lower back was still hurting.
After a CT scan the doctor finally found something wrong. Acute Spondylosis. What is that? I dont know, but it makes your back and legs hurt really bad. The part that bothered me was the doctor said to fix it would take surgery(a fusion of the discs with screws) or I would just have to learn to deal with the pain. O yeah and here's a couple painkillers. The surgery costs fifty thousand dollars to perform and I would be out of work for a least three months. To make matters worse in ten years I would most likely have to have the surgery again and then ten years after that and so on. Are you kidding me. Im almost twenty four years old so by the time Im sixty five I could need up to five surgeries resulting in combined fifteen months off work.
I was at the time running a new company in the Lexington area, working with marble, stone and tile. If you didn't know it, it is a very labor intensive industry. Growing up on a farm, I was more than able to do the work. Not with a bad back though, I found out the hard way. The doctor's released me about three months after the accident. It took me more than a week to finish a simple shower wall a floor. The pain was unbearable. I had to find someway to pay the bills. My boss also owned a car wash. One that just washes the outside of the car something easy where im on my feet instead of bending and kneeling.
Gieco in the meantime or should I say Welsey the Gieco representative takes his sweet time in obtaining the medical records from my doctor's. I on the other hand have missed out on three months of work. Since my earnings in the tile business were based on the amount of customers I served the amount of losses are clearly speculative, but I took a lot of calls and passed them on to my competitors. At least I was helping them out. I speculate loosing around ten thousand dollars in work due to jobs that had to be dropped and future work from those jobs. The future loss of work would be astronomical, who knows how well the company could have succeeded.
Five months after the wreck, taking there sweet time. The Gieco claims adjuster, Wesley, offers me five thousand dollars. How ubsurd! My medical bills alone total about three thousand dollars. I now work two dead end jobs in order to pay for my house and truck. There is no money for law school and the bills are piling up.
On top of that without surgery the only physical activity I can do that doesn't leave me feeling paralyzed is to ride a bike. No more softball, tennis, or golf. And now I can't even ride my horses. I feel as more and more time goes by without help I will have lost my house, my truck, and any chance at a prosperous future. If it is a state law that I must carry insurance then were is the government regulations on insurance business practices. Where is the accoutability. The accident was not my fault but I have to suffer from it for the rest of my life.

(I was shocked). so I called the next day and spoke with someone. they told me to disregard the letter because I had in fact changed my insurance from Liability to Full Coverage and for me to just pay by the end of the month and he transferred me to the claims department to make my claim. they told me they would jump right on it as soon as they received my payment.
I called a week later to see what full coverage covered because I needed a rental. the guys tells me that it had been canceled on the 15th. I explained to him what happen and he was like "well he shouldnt have told you that cause that wasnt so," he said I had 15 days to pay my insurance from the 15 which would be the 29. I told him well your guy told me the end of the month which is the 30th. so he was like I agree but you have to count the 15th so its the 29th and there is nothing I can do for you.
so I said what about the claim I made. he said that it would be disregard because my insurance was canceled. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he was like well they will tell you the same thing but I can still put them on the phone. so he transferred me and the supervisor was saying there was nothing she could do. (what kind of supervisor is that?) I explained to her that I never received a bill or statement from GEICO. I just send in the payments and she says well maybe someone is throwing your mail away. I said maam no they are not. I said yall send me my renewal papers and you send me letters telling me my insurance will be canceled but you cant send me my bill or statements? She said the only thing she could do was send my claim to the UNDERWRITERS and she assured me that they would accept it since I had been getting the run around.
she then transferred me to the reissuance department and they wanted me to pay $21 dollars. I said but I have already sent yall $50 dollars. she said well it hasnt been posted so I need $21 dollars today in order to continue. I told her I was at work and I didnt have the payment. so she said "Well cant you get someone to pay it"? Im thinking who does she think she is, I said no maam I will call back when I have it. I called my local location and explained to her what happen she told me since I bought the Money Order on the 29th that it would be accepted. so I called GEICO the next day and the lady told me that she doesnt know why I was told that because they cant accept it. its late basically by one day because they go by the post mark date on the envelope but that the underwriters had the claim still.
so couple of days went by. mind you that no one from GEICO is calling me about anything. Im the one calling them. I called them today. May 6 and they tell me that my claim was not accepted because my insurance was cancelled so I said the underwriters wouldnt accept it and they said the underwriters never received it. I told the guy that I am fed up with them because I have like 8 different people telling me 8 different things none of which is accurate. he tells me theres nothing he can do. he transfer me to the service department and she just went straight to the point of telling me that there was nothing she could do either.
so I asked for the corperate number because I feel that there was something someone could have done. everybody telling me theres nothing that can be done. Right now I have to depend on a ride to work and home and I have a 3 year old to take care of and still making payments on a car that Im not even driving because THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO!

WARNING! DO NOT INSURE WITH GEICO! I have been insured with GIECO since 1999. During that time, I have paid thousands of dollars to them, and they have never had to pay on a claim. In November, I was married, and chose to place my husband on my policy. Because he was ticketed for driving uninsured in 2005 (he did not realize the policy had lapsed), we had to have SR-22 (He was not in an accident - he simply received a ticket). The underwriting company carefully checked our driving history (they have to do this with any SR-22 policy) and after seeing our driving record felt there was no risk, and in turn offered us a policy. I paid the premium (over $900).
In December, my husband accidentally backed into my car while it was parked in the driveway. We had the car inspected, but chose not to file a claim with GEICO, and instead chose to pay for the repairs out of pocket. Long story short, we are set to renew in May, and I just received a letter stating that they cannot reinsure me. I have been with this company for 9 years, AND THEY HAVE NEVER HAD TO PAY OUT ONE DIME FOR ANYTHING! Here is the problem I have. The underwriters had no problem taking my $900 in November, but now after one accident (in which they did not even have to pay), they have opted to drop a loyal customer of 9 years.
I feel that it is important to let my friends and family know that this company is not what they make themselves out to be. You guys know me, and you know that I am an honest person. I will be insuring with the company I was with prior to GEICO, but I do not want my friends to be a victim of this company as I have been. If you are with GEICO, remember that one accident is all it takes for them to drop you...no matter how loyal you have been!

Geico's intent is to screw me out of what I deserve which is to have my car back in the condition it was prior to the accident. It is Geico's intent to have fix my car in a sub standard way so they can reap more profits. I have had insurance with Geico for many many years and paid them thousands upon thousands of dollars for insurance. All I ask is what my policy says I am entitled to! Geico would not be out one penny of money if they would pursue the person who hit me and made them pay for the damages. An illegal alien who was not even named on the owner of the cars insurance policy was driving the car without a license and without an insurance policy. The owner of that car allowed that person to drive that car knowing they had no license and was not covered on their insurance. The owner of that car's insurance should be paying for all this.
Geico has refused to pursue the other insurance company because they want both mu premiums and the other person premiums to go up so they can again make more money. Who is watching out for the consumer? The BBB the State Board of Insurance? I have paid my money and I have rights also, I plan to express those rights on the Internet and in Video on You Tube.
My letter to the State Board of Insurance 1.) I have the right to have my car fixed back to pre accident condition, which was not plastic filler. 2.) Provide proof that Geico is attempting subrogation efforts. 3.) Geico should either fix my car properly or make the other Insurance company pay for it. 4.) Caliber Collision should be investigated for fraud and collusion, I can prove this. 5.) Caliber Collision adjusters are paid commission on screwing the customers. 6.) Thank you for your PREDICTABLE GEICO FAVORED RESPONSE 7.) Please provide this letter to someone higher up the food chain.

Many things happened along the way, but the worst was the attitude of both these adjusters to myself and to the manager of the collision dealership doing my repairs.I was told several times I should not take my car anywhere except where the adjusters wanted it to go.
Because the adjuster would not listen to the body shop manager, it made for many days of delay and more days to wait for repairs that should have been done right away.

I signed up with GEICO over the phone for the minimum coverage required in my state. They quoted me a low rate and I paid for six months coverage by credit card. I week later I got a letter from Geico saying that they had changed the terms of my contract, and demanded more money. Of course this is a blatant contract violation and actionable. It is also an outrage. I called their toll free number and a lady said they had been informed by a third party that I had had an accident in 2003 and that is why they raised my rate.
I did not have an accident in 2003, to the best of my recollection. I have never been in any accident that was my fault and have, therefore, never cost any insurance company any money. Even if I had been, they were not entitled to change my contract after it had been agreed to by both parties and money had changed hands. That is elementary contract law. It makes no difference what is in the fine print they sent me.
I never agreed to this fine print and implicit agreements, or assumed agreements, or implied agreements, have been struck down in case after case and are not legally valid. The lady gave me the number of this third party and said they would tell me the details of my supposed accident. I called the number and got a very unhelpful recording and absolutely no information about my supposed accident
I wrote to the president of GEICO (I have his private number and address) and told him what I thought of his business practices. I also told the lady in the phone that I would not pay the extra money they demanded. I have not had a reply from Mr. Nicely as yet, but it is too soon to expect one.

A few days later, around the Thanksgiving holiday, I was in bed sick because I had been attacked and hit in the head, and the criminals came back and vandalized my car. I reported the crime to the police, and when I called Geico to ask when they were going to fix my car, I was told by Neila Haun that she called the police on me and was going to have me arrested. My car was vandalized around November 21 - 24, 2007. Like I said, I am not sure of the date because I was suffering from a head injury. However, I have been without my car for a very long time and I need to get my transportation back.

My child was given a concussion and suffered seizures for several months. The other baby was hit with flying car debris as he waited on the sidewalk to be placed in his carseat. My car and that of the Geico client were totaled. The driver was arrested and sentenced on 2-15-2008 to DUI causing injury.
I was told by Geico rep. Bethany Gipp to have my insurance pay for things and they would reimburse them. We have paid several thousands of dollars in out of pocket expenses for medical expenses, car seats, strollers, rental car, and deductibles. Not to mention the cost of replacing our car that was only 5 months old when hit. We we offered $5000 for our child and told to sue if we wanted more. My child had seizures for several months! This has put our family in a horrible financial situation and emotionally wrecked me as a mother when I was put in the situation of trying to save both of my children during this horrible incident. Isn't there some sort of law about this sort of thing? When an insurance company accepts liability isn't there some sort of time frame they have to follow to reimburse someone for the costs they have incurred?

My car was totaled in Ohio, on October 10, 2007. Because the driver left the scene of the accident, I was advised by the police department, the incident would be classified as a Hit and Skip and be investigated. I was later contacted again by a police officer, who advised the person who totaled my car had been located. They provided her name and insurer which was Geico. I made a claim to Geico for the damage to my vehicle. I was advised the person who totaled my car reported her car stolen on the same day my car was hit. Fortunately for her, her car was found and Geico repaired her car.
Geico had taken so long following up with me about my claim, I had to get my parents involved. Only to be advised Geico had no intent of replacing my car. Stating the car must have been hit by the person who stole the car that same day and drove off in the damaged stolen vehicle. They would not provide a copy of their client's stolen vehicle police report or report number to me. Geico would not give proof of what time the vehicle was reported stolen in relation to the time of my police accident report. Nor would they provide the date the car was recovered and repaired. My parent told Ms. Shane her client could have known to report the car stolen, because of hitting my car. Ms. Shane advised my parent, she would be surprised to know how many car thieves total cars and leave the scene of the accident. Only to have the damaged vehicle be recovered and returned to the owner for Geico's repair.
I have a baby, I work two jobs. I took the bus while the police were trying to locate the person who totaled my car. My parents had to purchase a lesser vehicle because my baby got sick, from us waiting in the snow for the bus. The engine went out on the car they bought me today. I don't have money to fix it so my parent called Geico to ask why they had never responded to my claim. The claim was escalated to Mr. Allman, who escalated it even further because of Geico's delay in responding Ms. Shane in Georgia, called my parent and advised she was denying my claim and would not be providing proof of justification. I have lost my car, and I may now have to quit one of my jobs. I feel Geico, is making up an excuse not to honor my claim.

On Jan. 24, we were rear-ended by a Geico customer who was overly apologetic and admitted to complete fault. He then told the police a car had cut him off and forced him into our lane, although the only other car in that lane around the time of the accident was right behind him. Obviously he'd been cutting back in front of that car; then again, he was on the cell phone when my husband got to his car to try to keep him from leaving the scene any further than he already had. We couldn't get medical care until 12:30 the next day since we couldn't get a rental car until then because of Geico changing their story, and we weren't willing to go to the incredibly slow emergency rooms here.
The other guy's agent even had the nerve to suggest that we pay our deductible and put it on our insurance, to which we said You are our insurance too, and the accident wasn't our fault! About 3 weeks later, an appraiser showed up to undervalue my car at trade-in value by comparing it to completely different models. He did not even measure tire tread depths before judging even a 24-day-old tire 40-60%, which I felt was trying to make us look bad in the accident - then again, we were able to stop for traffic and were completely stopped for over 5 seconds before being hit by a car 11 years newer. Finally, just over a month later, they increased their offer to only $1,100 below book value with no compensation for storage and upgrades we paid for the day before we got hit. We don't yet know how they'll handle all our medical bills, but we have an attorney to handle that part, and they'll only take a percentage of any settlement we get.
I had to quit my job because of visual disturbances, finger numbness, and inability to drive because of anxiety due to the accident. Our car was totaled but still sits blocking our driveway after over a month. Had to pay out-of-pocket over $200 for rental cars. Had to buy another car and put everything on credit cards while waiting on Geico to pay property damage.

I was rear ended by a GEICO insurance holder and consequently had my bumper damaged. I dropped my car off for repairs on Tuesday 1/29/08 and was scheduled to pick it up, repaired, the following day. I left the collision shop that day and got a rental car. The collision shop (not the one recommended by GEICO) called me that morning (only hours later) to notify me that the estimate of damage was not complete. They contacted the GEICO adjuster that morning and requested a supplement to the claim. They documented this, took photos and continued the repairs. The adjuster, Thomas Belcher, did not return to the body shop until 3 full days later on Friday afternoon at 3:20 pm to submit the supplement. By this time my car was fully repaired; however, they could not release it to me until the supplement was filed, and they could not tell me when this would be done because they did not know when the adjuster would show up. The collision shop called me by 3:30 pm that Friday, as soon the supplement was completed, to let me know my car was ready.
I, like most everybody else, have a job and was unable to pick up my car by 5:30 that afternoon, given that I had only 2 hours notice and did not even know what day my car would be released to me; and of course, the collision shop was not open on the weekend. I returned my rental car and picked up my repaired car first thing Monday morning. However, GEICO has refused to extend the contract on my rental car. They said since the car was ready on Friday (regardless if it was 3:30 pm and their adjuster holding up the car) that I am responsible for paying for the rental car the additional two days (Saturday and Sunday)!
GEICO is making me pay for 2 days of the car rental ~$60. Worse however, is their total disregard for service and accountability. The adjuster NEVER answers his phone and is the sole reason my car took 4 days to repair instead of 2. I pointed this out to several GEICO representatives as well as the supervisor to the adjuster. His supervisor did answer his phone at least, but would not listen to me for 2 minutes, and only wanted to point the finger of blame on myself and the collision shop for not informing me in a timely manner of the status of my repairs. (This was completely false, as they did inform me, but they just did not know when the GEICO adjuster would finally decide to show up.) The rental car I was given smelled like an ash tray and was not even remotely comparable to my own car. I would not have had that thing 5 minutes longer than I needed to, yet the adjuster and his supervisor were treating me as if I had done something wrong and that I was looking for something for free.

Geico however DENIED the claim 2 1/2 months later due to non-permissive use. The car was not reported stolen, and the owner never told the police at scene that the driver didn't have permission. This is obviously a tactic used by Geico to get away without paying. Geico said they investigated but only spoke to their insured, the driver, and the driver's mother. Also, when I picked up the car from the body shop and gave him the insurance check, he mentiond that he had some additional charges to claim that Geico was already aware of. I always suspected that Geico had some kind of deal with the body shops so they would not total as many vehicles. Even the tow truck driver said he thought it should be totaled. Subaru covered an engine problem under warranty, but the rest was fixed by a body shop. This took about 6 weeks. There was still a dent in 1 door and the car never was right. It wore one of the rear tires so badly, it looked like ran the edge on something and ripped an 2-inch groove on the inside tread.
When Subarau fixed the motor, they neglected to put a bolt in the starter and it fell off. When the weater turned cold, the body must have twisted back where they had straightened the frame because whenever your would turn a corner or in a curve or hit a bump, the overhead light would come on and the passenger rear door indicator would say it was ajar.

Geico did pay out the claim after a couple of months of haggling. However, upon renewal last week for our next policy period, OUR RATES WENT UP 200%! ($1,077 vs. $383) Although we had made every payment on time, the customer service reps were essentially unfriendly and unwilling to hear our story. They had also charged us for one insurance point for an incident in 2005 where I was struck, the other party admitted total fault, no ticket to me, which also increased our rate! The customer service people basically told me to take the new policy premium or leave it. - which we did. We found that Progressive was very willing to work with us. Hopefully this won't be a nasty scenario should anyone in my family have a repeat experience. Geico offers low rates but if they have to pay a claim...watch out!

In December, Geico infomed me they were raising my premium by $480 per year for the next three years. They informed me this raise resulted from their having to pay $860 to repair the rear bumper of the auto I bumped into. So the net result is I will have to pay more than $1300 over the next three years for a small incident in which Geico had to pay out less than $850. This is an unconscionable move by them since they said any accident they pay for will result in one point on my record with them for three years, even though I had no points for almost 4 years
I must pay out an additional $1300 to retain my insurance coverage and I am retired so my income is limited.

On two occasions, I was rear ended by other drivers. In each case, the other driver was found to be at fault. But also, in each case, Geico did very little to help me. They seem to take a very hands-off approach to claims handling. I ended up having to do pretty much all the leg-work in getting my claim taken care of. It took FIVE phone calls to Geico to get them to transfer the claim to the other party's policy.
After the second accident, they totaled my car but took three weeks to get around to paying me (in spite of telling me they'd overnight the check they were going to send me).
Geico is very happy to take your money, but does very little for their customers if a claim needs to be filed. So, in spite of all their cutesy advertising, underneath it all, they are just out for themselves and don't care about their customers or policy holders.

I became a new policy holder with Geico Insurance (vehicle) on 10-30-07. I requested comp/collision (full coverage) due to car is financed. I paid the down payment and was sent documents as to what I requested in my policy along with the insurance ID cards.Three weeks later my car was in a bad accident. I called to file a claim and was told by the claim adjuster and customer service rep that I do not have comp/collision due to no car inspections. I was outraged; here I have damages on a 2003 Infiniti g35 and was not notified that the car I drive my kids in, is not covered. I never received any paperwork or notification through email alerts or customer service that an inspection was needed. The other motorist, does not have insurance. (We live in a no fault state.) The airbags deployed; the car is in bad condition.
Geico said they will have to investigate; its been 3 weeks and no response from Geico . I have called them numerous time, always the same answer: the management dept. is backlogged; and no response on action. I am driving around in a car that is very dangerous. Geico knows this and never offered a rental car. I am still obligated to pay my premium, I don't have money to pay for a lawyer for assistance, and car payments are still due . I am a single parent who is desperately needing some assistance. Geico is trying desperately to hide, not fix the problem, and taking my money without fixing this problem. In February of 2007, I moved to Hawaii and signed a 6 month insurance policy with Geico. In August, a month before my policy was to expire, I moved back to California. In moving, I informed Geico of my new address. They sent me a quote (via email) of over $5000 for a new 6 month policy that had been drawn up after my address change. With that ridiculous quote, I decided not to renew at the end of my policy. In the contract guidelines between the Geico and the consumers, it states that there are certain instances where Geico will cancel your policy for you, two of which are if the consumer does not agree with the new policy terms or if no payment is sent. Knowing this I did not send in any payment.
I went for a week or so without insurance looking for a decent price, which was not hard to find. Within that week, Geico sent me a letter saying that if no payment is received by October 5, then I will no longer be insured. Relieved, that I wasn't uninsured, I continued looking and at the end of the month signed a new policy with Progressive Insurance on a 6 month premium of about $1200. Mid October I get another letter from Geico saying that even though my policy was cancelled I still owe $800 for being insured in Sept under the new policy. I called Geico expressing that I should not have to pay the $800 because, not only did their letters not advise me that I will be charged for that month, but that I was being charged for a policy that I never agreed to renew. According to their contracts, I rightfully cancelled my insurance and should not be getting charged anything. However a Geico supervisor informed me that the reason why I'm being charged the $800 is because I changed my address with them, and they interpret a change of address as accepting a new 6 month insurance policy with them. I told them that was ridiculous! I changed my address and they take that as a signature for a policy that hasn't even been drawn up yet. I understand that they would raise my rates for that change of address, but not by that much. They claim that they are following all aspects of the law, which is why the premium is so high, when every other company offered premiums for a fraction of that. They continue to send me collection letters mentioning the importance of good credit. Are they right in what they are doing?

I was in an accident in Feb.of 2007. At first Geico was doing right or at least that's what I thought. Then I started to get medical bills that they refused to pay. Right after the accident something in the discs in my neck showed up, but I had very bad low back pain and other things wrong with my right side. Geico kept sending me to their doctors who would say there is nothing wrong and to go back to work; they would spend a minute or two to make their diagnoses. I have other doctors now, treating me, and they say something is wrong but are still trying to find out what. An EMG shows nerve damage, and a second MRI shows a fracture, and now I'm to take a second EMG.
Geico needs to wake up; I was not at fault in the hit-and-run, and the guy was caught. I did not ask for this to happen to me. My policy covers my lost wages and medical bills that Geico is refusing to pay. I am thinking of taking other actions against them and their quack doctors. I'm trying to get better myself so I can get back to work if I can, but Geico is tying my hands. Something has to be done about these insurance companies and their so-called doctors they pay to make sure you do not collect from your policy.

I was given a quote for 1/3rd of the coverage I require. Phone rep asked no questions about my insurance needs & was unfamiliar with coverage options. Although pleasant and polite, he offered no advice, no needs analysis, gave me a price, asked me to pay. When I asked about additional coverage that I already have and NEED with Travelers, GEICO rep was completely unknowledgeable.
Offered MUCH LESS coverage, offered NO professional advice. I had to ask all the questions. GEICO was ignorant of insurance options, unethically tried to entice me to purchase a substandard limited coverage policy, claiming they would save me money. Sure they could- as long as they reduced my coverage by 75%.
Unable to offer my required coverage. I had to insist that I needed more coverage, GEICO was unable to offer similar coverage. Even at 25% of the coverage I require, their price was triple my current rate. If I conducted business using GEICO's tactics, my small business would be reprimanded, disciplined and fined by the insurance department.
GEICO sales reps are uneducated about insurance, unprofessional, unethical and are an insult to professional independent insurance agents worldwide. Yet they are not held to the standards of a small business, and are insulated from disciplinary action. When GEICO customers come to me for advice, they are shocked at GEICO'S lack of knowledge and GEICO's deliberate deceit to the public.

Of course I chose the latter.
I bought the car 5 months ago for $34,000 and added a $7,000 bodykit and had Geico insure my aftermarket items (they charged me for it). The Geico adjuster offered me $31,000. When I challenged the adjuster's offer, he told me that the bodykit only offered a $850 increase in the resell value. I was caught in a hail storm and after the storm passed my passenger and I inspected the car. There were dozens of chips in the paint down to the primer all over the car, with the hood suffering the most. Fortunately there did not seem to be any dents, just the chips.
I contacted GEICO and started the claims process. I was able to provide a copy of the NWS's severe thunderstorm warning and the local storm reports from emergency management offices regarding large hail. GEICO interviewed me on the phone, and also interviewed my passenger to verify my account, then scheduled me to see an adjuster.
The adjuster looked at my car for 10 seconds and said the chips could not possibly be hail damage and the only way to repair it would be to file a separate claim for each panel of the car. I have a $500 deductible, and the only panel that would cost more than $500 to fix would be the hood at $641.
He advised me to either drop the claim completely, or to just file a claim on the hood to save the $141. He said I could also request a bottle of the mixed paint to manually touch-up the other panels of the car!
I find it incredible that he would just dismiss my claim immediately, even though I had weather reports, a witness to verifie the same information I told them.
I do not feel this is a problem with GEICO as a whole, only with that one adjuster I dealt with.
