My most recent claim with American Home Shield was when they got our defective refrigerator replaced. I called to a representative to submit the claim and they sent the contractor. They were all great. The new refrigerator works fine. I'd recommend AHS to a friend - they provide a very good service, honest and they have integrity in how they do things. I'm well pleased and everything in our experience was acceptable.

I didn’t have a problem with American Home Shield, and they’re good. The first time I used them was on the second month after I had their policy. We submitted a claim online, and the contractor came right in to fix our AC. He was on time and did his job. He then gave me some advice on how to keep the filters clean, and told me he changed what needed to be changed. He also told us whatever else we need to do on our part. We then paid $75, and that was it. It was quality service, and I’m glad to have it. I hope to be able to continue the service without interruptions, but if I have to, I’d like to be able to start back up. I’d recommend AHS to anyone.

In my most recent claim with American Home Shield, I had a problem with my air conditioning unit. I submitted a request online and within 24 hours, AHS had assigned someone to come out to take a look at the problem. The contractor was on site for less than 30 minutes and quickly identified the problem, which turned out to be a simple problem caused by a battery. He fixed the problem and I haven't had any problems with my AC. I love the confidence that it gives to have AHS as support because when I needed them, they have been extremely helpful.

We like American Home Shield but our biggest problem is the computerization of all this stuff. It takes such a ridiculous amount of time to get to a real person so we can tell them the problem. And generally, when American Home Shield sent a contractor, everything is repaired within a day or so. So, we've had a very good luck with the contractors they sent. However, on the last claim we filed, we had Sears to repair the refrigerator and it took 3 weeks from the time we called and got a hold of Sears until the time it was fixed, which is absolutely unacceptable. But that's not American Home Shield's fault, it was the Sears people. It was absolutely terrible.

The air conditioner wasn't cooling so we called to file a claim. The representative we spoke to was very professional and accommodating. They sent a guy out right away who was very professional and explained what he was doing. He even told us after 90 days, he needs to check it again. He was very thorough and very nice to deal with. The air conditioner is cooling now. He did a good job. We've always had the most professional dealings with anybody we've had so we are very pleased. AHS really cared about our situation every time.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was when my air conditioning unit was out of service. I had no problem in submitting the claim. I called and they sent someone out. The man came and fixed my unit, which was great because it was hot in here, and he was very professional. He told me what to expect if the problem wasn't fixed with this repair. I've been pleased with their service, and I'd recommend them to anybody else who needs the kind of work that they do.

I called in my air conditioning claim with American Home Shield on a Sunday night and left a message. I then called the first thing next morning and spoke to someone who said they received the message and scheduled a person to come out that morning. The contractor showed up on time, did what he needed to do, explained what happened, replaced the part, and was gone within an hour. I like the fact that it was a quick turnaround in response to the issue I had especially that I needed my AC fixed ASAP, and my unit’s been fine with no issues at all. I’ve used AHS in the past, and it’s a great program. I have a new house and I had other companies, but didn’t like them at all, so the minute my contract was up, I immediately signed up with AHS. I’d recommend them.

Run away from this American Home Shield, AHS. They claim to fix anything under your roof. I bought the higher plan (System option) for about $42.83 a month (from 2011 to Aug 2015) for many years. We got two breakdowns, the gas burner (two out of four burners on the Thermador Range) and the other was the garage door opener. On both occasions, we had to spend $75 in home estimate. On both claims, AHS denied our claim requests because our broken stuff is the exception listed found on the contract fine print. We had to spend the repair cost ON TOP of the $75.00 in house estimate. Right after the two repair items, our air conditioning broke down during the sweltering heat. We decided to forget about AHS, which will find every way under their fine print of their contract to deny our service.
RUN AWAY FROM AHS. We are a long-term customer. None of our request was ever fixed by them. It's very upset knowing AHS will turn down the service request yet we still have to pay the $75 in home estimate. We have been a customer for 4 years. We thought buying AHS service will make us worry less, but we were so upset at their refusal to break we have ulcers instead. I'm now on the phone to cancel the AHS service, and was on hold for 25 minutes, and counting... After talking to someone finally, when they found out I cancel the plan, they asked me to be on hold again so I can be transferred to the Retention Department! If you can tolerate bad and greedy service, like being on hold when calling AHS to cancel their service, enroll with AHS. We are running away, fast. We hope our lessons are yours too.

I've sold my house and have tried to contact them to cancel on 3 different days, 2 times each day. Ridiculously long hold times. I finally get someone, need to be transferred to retention department, no one answers there. They tell me "don't worry, someone will call you"... hasn't happened. This is possibly the WORST customer service I have ever experienced.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for an air conditioning issue. Submitting a claim was really good as well as the contractor that they sent. It's rare that I find that when things are scheduled, people come out in the timeframe that they commit to. I have found a lot of times that vendors for AHS put customers as a low priority. If they get other calls you'll end up waiting until 8 o'clock at night -- if they come at all. But this guy came out and fixed it on the first try and no problems after that.
I have recommended American Home Shield to people, but not every experience is great and a lot of times it's the vendor. The most frustrating part of it is when somebody comes out and say, "Okay, we've got to order a part, we've got to do it through American Home Shield." There ends up being a lot of cooks in the kitchen trying to get one simple thing done for me, that if I had called the vendor on my own, they'd be able to resource the parts relatively quick. Sometimes having to resource parts through AHS adds one more layer of things that you have to do and sometimes, that had me waiting as long as a month to get something fixed. But overall, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield so I'm sticking with them.

We have two houses and had a couple of claims to AHS and they've all been easy. They've come out and took care of them - no problem. My most recent claim was when a spring broke on my garage door opener. I submitted my claim online and it was easy. I went to the AHS website and selected the category that my claim fell under and I got a call from the contractor within about 48 hours. We set up a time, they came out and fixed it.

I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield. I was happy because the people that came up as the assigned provider didn't call. I called four hours later and found it was a 1-800 number and I was instructed to leave a message. So I called AHS back around 5:00 and talked to somebody. I asked him for a specific provider that I used in the past that I liked - it was a local provider. They reassigned it and they came in our house to see what the issues were. They explained what was wrong then they had to order the parts. Somebody had to come back to make the repairs. He replaced the burner and the socket on our stove and worked on my dryer. There was a further problem on my dryer so more parts were ordered and he came back and finished the repair. After that, everything's been working fine.

We called American Home Shield about our gas leak problem, and they couldn’t fix it because it was outside the building instead of inside, so we had the homeowners association do it. AHS came out and told us where the leak was, so we really appreciated it since it helped a lot. The plumber AHS sent also told us that we didn’t have to pay and there was no charge, but weeks later we got a bill. We knew we were supposed to pay it anyway, so we did. We like AHS and they’re great. I’ve recommended them to others.

Before, I thought their website could probably be improved a little since prior to this recent filing, I was having problems with the instant service when I try to submit a claim on the web rather than via telephone. They just changed it recently however, so this recent claim submission experience has been very good. When I first purchased a home warranty from AHS, I was a bit apprehensive about how it would work - not knowing if I was wasting my money or if it was money well spent. But after having called for repair for 2 different problems, I am more than ready to recommend homeowners purchasing warranties. The contractors in both instances were very polite, professional and knew what they were doing. They arrived in the arranged time frame and each of them took the time to make sure there were no additional problems with the units they were working on. And never leaving before making sure everything worked properly. I am someone who asks questions about everything and the contractors enjoyed teaching me about what they were doing. My experience with American Home Shield has been pretty good. I had a couple of air conditioners worked on that started in June 26 but it's been a lot of trouble with the first contractor I had. He was a big deal. We finally got rid of him and got somebody else who just finished the work today. Which was almost two months later. But things happen and I'm not going to blame anybody.
I got the right phone number however I had some issues for a little while because I'd call somebody and got a hold of somebody in Georgia and then I'd get another representative from Tennessee who was supposed to call me back but never did so I called the next day and got ahold of the one in Georgia. We played phone tag for a long time then I got a phone number from the new contractor and he gave me a phone number for the escalation department and that really helped.

I called in to submit a claim with AHS for my hot water tank and the rep I spoke to was very cordial - we had very good service from him. He flushed it for us, but we purchased a new water softener from him which was fine since we wanted to do that too. However, we asked him about replacing our kitchen sink and he quoted us a price of $650 which did not include the sink and I was upset by that because that is very out of line cost-wise. Other than that, we've been very pleased with any other service calls that we've had.

The water heater went out so I called AHS to submit a claim. I left a message for them to call back, but they were calling my home phone number which I had already told them that I didn't have anymore. When they called my old telephone number, of course somebody answered saying that they didn't call them and they don't need anything. I waited for three days and I called back and I told AHS that they need to call the contractor and give them the right number.
As far as the people that worked on the stuff, they were good, but I never had anybody harass me so much as their billing person. He was telling me stuff and I didn't know what he was asking money for. Different things were charged that I didn't think was needed, but I didn't know since I'm not experienced with that. We still had to pay $100 for that which wasn't fair since he could have said it over the telephone. However, they've been here the time they said they'd be here, but I wish they'd be tighter with their time schedule though I understand that they get tied up in places and have to finish. My most recent claim with AHS was for my air conditioner three weeks ago. However, they couldn't find anybody to fix it, so we had to find our own person. We had to get an okay from them, but we couldn't get through to them, so it was a real process to try to get a certain number that we need. I was on the phone a total of 4 to 5 hours waiting for somebody to come on to take my call, then talking to various people trying to get numbers but people not calling back. We had to fax some information and nobody called us back on it. Finally I found a fellow and I said that I was not getting off the phone until I get the approval number. He said sorry and he was real happy to get that for me right then. He knew that I was upset and he got me the number and we have gotten a reimbursement for the work that we've done.
We've had the company policy for seven years, and we've only used it twice, both times for the air conditioner and there were only minor problems with it. The first time that we had somebody come out was very quick and it was no problem. But this time, it was very hard. My last claim with American Home Shield was the garage door opener. I called them up and they called me back and said they were going to send a guy out. The contractor came out, looked at everything, and called AHS back. Then AHS said that the part they have to fix -- it wasn't the motor itself, but the spring -- wasn't covered under warranty, and I read from the warranty book that AHS and the contractor were right. But the contractor did fix the problem. He was very professional and told me everything that he was going to do, and I enjoyed talking to him. I did say on the side that what I had was a double door, and he suggested I might want to get the other door fixed at the same time. So I told him to go ahead and fix it too, and he said, "Okay, no problem." The unit has been working excellent and fine since it's been repaired.
There was something on TV a couple of nights ago about someone having a problem with AHS. But I would suggest to other people that they consider my experience with AHS too -- I've had a good experience with the people that AHS sent out a couple of times. I've had no bad experience with AHS so far, and if I could do it all over again with them, I would. In fact, AHS used to have a program or plan about air conditioning, and they had so may good responses that they got overwhelmed and had to stop it.

They sent a plumber over. I showed him the shower and they put the snake and then I told them about the kitchen sink and he says that the reason why it keeps doing it is because it is an older house and the pipes are smaller. It would take a while for the stuff to go down. Its not actually clogged. Now that I know that, I won't call again for a long time. Since the repair, things have been good. He just put the snake down there and that was it.
However, I had a disagreement with them about three years ago. They sent a plumber over and said they couldnt get in there. There was something obstructing the pipe in my bathtub. I said they couldn't fix it so I called Roto Rooter. It was a hairball that clogged it. I called AHS back and said there was no obstruction there, just hair. I had it in a bag in case they wanted to fight me. And I sent a picture of it through the computer to the girl and she reimbursed the Roto Rooter price of $100. They're pretty cool. I would still recommend since it was the plumber, not the company's fault. I'm happy with AHS for they help me.

We put in a service request on Thursday, August 27th because our air conditioner stopped working. On Friday we were told no one could come out until Monday. We never heard from a service company. When my husband called the company listed in the email, he was told they said they could not come out earlier than Monday and told AHS this. AHS never contacted another service provider. I called on Sunday to see about getting service sooner and I was told our file was never sent to be expedited. We were on day 4 without A/C. We were then told someone would call in 1-2 hours with the name of a service because they now had to "personally call each company." I never got a call.
When we called later to check, we were told our service call that was scheduled for Monday was cancelled so now no one was coming until Tuesday. Fortunately, my husband called the service company and the guy came out Monday afternoon. He said the compressor went, but he cannot give us a part because it has to come from an AHS distribution center which is backed up. He can't get a part until Friday even though he personally has the part... We will be over a week without air conditioning. Our house is close to 100 degrees inside. We’ve had two claims from American Home Shield. One, my air conditioner went out. We contacted AHS, they sent somebody out the next day and it was a quick fix so it was only one day of misery. After a month, my washing machine went on the fritz. We called them and the repairman who came out was very professional, courteous and personable. He took the time to explain to me what he was doing. When he said my transmission has gone out, I asked him if it will take long (it was on a Friday and I do laundry on Mondays) and he assured me he doesn't think so. He got the part and fixed the machine within a week or less. They were really on the ball. Whoever sets up which company comes to us, they must pick the best company in the city because we’ve had good luck with both of them.
But after two days I noticed that the washing machine was leaking. So I made another call, the same repairman came back to see what was wrong. He said he was sorry and that he knew I hated to see him again. He was kind enough to explain to me that in rare occasion, when a transmission is replaced, the tub doesn't reseal when you put the machine back together. I said, “Okay, now what do we do?” He said, “Nothing. I order a new tub and you get a new seal and you’re practically going to have a new washing machine again.” They get right on it and were really good. It was great that because this was a claim on the same machine, they did not charge me a second fee to have it fixed.
The young man I talked to on the leaking washing machine after it had been fixed was very sympathetic. He apologized and I said it was not his or the repairman's fault. I am delighted with the fact that whether we call them on the phone or put in a claim online, we get an email confirmation within a day that our claim has been received, and information on which company is coming and what time they will be there are given. I'm also very happy that they come out within 24 hours. We're really impressed with them. They're as fast as they can be, and if they have to order a part, it usually doesn't take very long. They call you and say when they will be out and to just wait for their call. So far they’ve kept mama happy, because if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. They are quick, efficient and very, very pleasant.

When an oven went out on me, the ladies from American Home Shield that I worked with were very professional and prompt. The oven was no longer made, so they had to do some research and got me something that's reasonably close. I had to do some remodeling because the range is too short, but I’m happy with it and the service I got. Also, back in 2013, my furnace went out and I was getting home from being in the hospital for lung cancer. So, I went ahead and paid for the repair, and remembered that I had coverage from AHS. However, the contractor and AHS could never get in touch with each other, so the contractor wasn't able to provide AHS with the receipts for the repair, and I wasn't reimbursed for the expenses. Outside of that, I’m happy with AHS, and have recommended them several times.

I called American Shield because of my air conditioner - and when they say they're going to call withing 24 hours, they do - however, I got into a fight issue with them since they tend to send people that work on Mondays through Thursdays. That wasn't good - they basically told me they couldn't help me because I needed to either have a Friday or a Monday appointment. Unfortunately, all Mondays were booked and they had no Fridays available. Also, they can only send someone in my area that works only from 7:00 until noon. If I am paying insurance for three homes, I feel I should be able to at least have someone come that has open hours. It was ridiculous.
The person they sent was also late so I had to miss an entire day of work to accommodate him. It was good he knew what he was doing...fixed the job and it's fine. However, not only did it cost me my monthly payment and my $75 copay, but also a day's pay of work and a point on my attendance. That's not fair. The same thing happened with our water heater when it shut off completely, which was an emergency situation. I have tenants in this home and each day that they're without water, I can't legally charge them rent. We called AHS on a Friday and nobody came to us until Monday. The man they sent told us a bunch of stuff that needed to be done with the water heater...that it was the legal code for that country. But my husband is an electrician so he knew it wasn't true.
My husband went straight to a building inspector and was told that we didn't need three-fourths of what the man was charging us for because our heater was already upgraded to the code. We called Home Shield and told them we didn't want that man in our home, that he was charging us for things that were unnecessary, and that AHS would be paying the majority of it. Then they informed us that it would be us who'd be paying a lot because most of the charges weren't covered under their scope.Because of that, we wanted a second opinion. We got another guy out there and he fixed the heater right away with no problems. He did it even on a Saturday and charged us exactly what we were supposed to be charged.
All of a sudden, I get a bill from American Shield for the $75 copay of the first guy who came. I said, "You not only went ahead and sent another person, you also agreed that it was a shame he did that...I could even provide you with something from the city showing he was overcharging." But they said that even if he did no work, I was still liable for the $75. To this day, I'm still fighting because I refuse to pay it. AHS also continues to use that man.

American Home Shield seems to do whatever it takes to get you to give up. After holding for over 30 minutes, the first representative told me simply that my repair was not covered, but could not tell me why. She could only tell me what was in the notes, which did not fully explain. After promising I wouldn't have to be on hold but for a couple of minutes, she transferred me to someone who could supposedly tell me more. After waiting another 20 minutes on hold, another representative, who could also only tell me what was in the notes, put me on hold again while she went to get an HVAC expert. 20 minutes later, another associate answered, who could also only tell me what was in the notes. I'm convinced they were waiting on me to give up.
Then, they told me that my thermostat that controlled my HVAC system was a "computerized add on" and that it was not covered. When I asked for a legal definition of computerized add on, and how a T-stat could be considered an add on, they of course could not produce one, but simply stated that it wasn't covered. When I asked to be transferred to a supervisor, I was told that they weren't going to transfer me because it didn't matter. The component wasn't covered. IT DIDN'T MATTER! Can you believe they refused to transfer me to a supervisor? I guess CUSTOMERS DON'T MATTER TO AHS!

I've never had a problem with American Home Shield as far as them understanding my claim or what I need to have done. The companies that they send out are very good. When we had our garage door fixed, the owner of the company came with the technician. She did a tick and tie and we happened to be the one she did that for. They did above and beyond what we would've expected and we were very satisfied with everything. The only time I had a problem is when we had our AC unit serviced. We felt that the contractor could have damaged it instead of fixing it. It was a bad experience and it's good that they no longer represent AHS. We had another contractor come out and take care of it and we were very pleased. In fact, I told my son in Georgia about how good it is to have AHS. I emailed one of their newsletters to him so that he would know how to contact AHS and get it for himself. I also encourage others to get it.

He gave me the name of the company that was coming, the time they would be here, and answered questions when I verified how much our co-pay would be. He was appropriately dressed and came on time. He was very courteous, nice and knowledgeable in everything that I asked him. He did exactly what I expected to happen - to survey, see and explain to us what the problem was, and fixed the problem right while he was here. Since then, we've been able to turn the thermostat down to not have to run it as cold to be at a comfortable level. At one time, we went with another company and I was so glad when I could get back to AHS. The other one was a bit cheaper on their co-pay but it didn't make up. I had a microwave problem and 90 days later I was still fighting them to try and get it fixed which I've never experienced with AHS. Wonderful.

I filed my air conditioning claim with American Home Shield online, but when the computer told me who it was that was coming, I called and cancelled that one through a representative, who was so nice, accommodating, and totally understood the situation. The contractors that were sent out were very polite and nice, but what happened was they didn’t get back to me for at least two or three days. It was on a weekend, so it was a 7 o clock, Friday night call. That was understandable. They did come, but they couldn’t come for a couple of days and then when they did, they didn’t have the part needed and somebody was supposed to call me for them to tell me when they were going to come back out. Nobody called in a week, so I called AHS and they said, they can have them there on such and such day.
When they came, they still didn’t have the part and it was the wrong one. The guy then called me and said he got the right part and would bring it by, but I couldn’t accommodate them the next day, so they came 2 days later and did the service. I gave them the check for the deductible and kept getting bills from American Home Shield that I owe $75, so they seemed to have a problem at the office. They told me it was an employee problem and she wasn’t doing the job so they fired her, but then I still was having problems. When I happen to go online for something, I saw I owed $75 which I knew I didn’t since I paid them the night they were here, and I then checked my bank and it was cashed.
It was a Friday night they came to finish the job, the check was deposited on Monday and yet here it is, two and a half months later, they’re saying that they never got the check. I had to call AHS and the girl was abrupt, saying she’ll check it out and get back to me but they never did. Two weeks later I had to call them again because I got a notification again that I owed AHS $75 and so I called again and the girl that answers says that she found it and they’ll let them know. I got an invoice and I said, okay. It crossed in the mail so I’ll wait and see what happens or call when I get a chance. I've been a customer of American Home Shield for almost seven years and initially submitting a claim was tough but now it's a lot better. With the website access, we haven't had any problems scheduling any appointments. I have had mixed reactions with the technicians. It all depends on the trade. A lot of times I can have a plumber who knows what he's doing. After the repair it's pretty much a done deal. I've had some problems with the AC. They've recently asked for recalls but unfortunately there's only so many qualified contractors on the list.
The biggest thing comment is for AHS to try to get some approved contractors into the actual program, some of the bigger names, bigger chains, because a lot of the contractors are obviously small businesses who haven't really been in the field that long. What happens with that is, for example, I had an issue with my HVAC system and they came out with the air conditioning and then they had to come out subsequently three more times, and then that ended up costing me three or four trade calls, and that was the same contractor. So obviously if they would have caught the issue before, I wouldn't had to pay several trade calls, and this is all within a week.
That's the kind of experience I've had this year. It was for us a little frustrating. My wife was frustrated we didn't have an AC at one point. If they have the right people coming out, they won't have that many recalls. I've told people I've have good, bad, some ugly experiences, but overall I do recommend the company to several people, all my peers, friends and family. Everyone's in the same situation once their house stuff starts breaking down.

I told him I was trying to get a hold with this plumber because he did a wonderful job for me, and then they told me that I could do that while on the first day, he told me I couldn’t. So I was ready to hang up and tell them to send my money back but that’s the only bad experience I’ve had so far. In general, I'm happy with them.

I had a problem with the furnace. Our location is in the middle of nowhere and it was an irritant they had nobody that could work on it up here. After waiting quite a long time to get them to come forward, we finally found someone on our own and AHS was quick to pay which was good enough for me. Thankfully we weren't in the middle of winter or we would have been freezing. The contractor we got was able to repair it. One more thing, the people AHS sent out to fix our appliance were wonderful and more than good. The guys explained everything to us. I have no complaints and I appreciate their service to us.

He got his electric snake caught in the plumbing and I had to have someone else come out and get it out. It wasn’t his fault but still it cost me $300 so I wasn’t as happy with that guy. I've used American Home Shield services three times now. They've been absolutely amazing every time I've needed them. I, however, found out that not a lot of people are associated with them so I had limited people that are able come out when my air conditioner and plumbing backed out. It took 10 days before the air conditioner could get fixed and to wait 10 days is not fun. It was 115 that week in California so we had to buy a $300 room air conditioner. I have three small children and our oldest has a medical condition so there was nothing I could do. But we made it though and I have a room air conditioner now, and we haven't had any problem with the air conditioner since then.
I've also had them fix my garage door. The spring busted and I couldn't open and close it, and within 20 minutes it was fixed. They're fantastic. I'm glad that I have them. I would always recommend them to everyone else I know that purchased a home, since we purchased ours because you may not use it that first year but you could use it the next. You'll never know.

We had a claim filed in February and it went great. After we submitted the claim online, we were contacted by the repairman within a few hours and they were out here the next day. They found the leak and replaced the garbage disposal. We tried to renew our policy which was up on September 2nd. Twice, my husband did it online and we used the credit card. It said that it was successful but we never saw the charge on our credit card. We had several calls from someone saying they're from American Home Shield and wanting our credit card number but since we did not initiate the call and we thought that we had already renewed, we did not give them that information. Then we got on to American Home Shield website which is new and improved, and we couldn't even log on. We finally found an 800 number and called. We spoke with someone and got the policy renewed but she said that they have had many complaints about their new and improved website and to let someone know. I did submit an email telling them that new doesn't always mean improved.

The claims process of AHS seems to work fine and I like the contractors they sent out majority of the time. Their quality of work is pretty good. However I'm trying to renew my warranty and set it up like I paid it last year which is 12 monthly installments. They sent me a bill, I paid it. The people I talked to kept telling me I can't do it that way anymore. They wanted a check so they could deduct it from my checking account. Well, I don't want anybody in to my checking account except me but she insisted "that's the only way we can do it." I wasn't happy that she would not work with me and try to help me re-enroll in their service. That's not very encouraging. So I told her to let me talk to their supervisor and she couldn't connect me to her supervisor but her supervisor gave her a number.
She gave me the number to call billing and payments, and I tried this 1-800 number and it took me nowhere. I wasn't happy that I got a number that didn't work. So then I called back and got another gal on the phone, explained the same thing to her and she was very helpful. She said, "Well, all we need to do is get a debit or a credit card for the first monthly payment so you're renewed, and then we'll start and set it up like we did last year," and we were done. So there was a way to do it.

A guy came out to assess it on a Thursday and he said they would call us the next day and have someone over here with the part. They didn't call so we called them back. They said the guy that was here was fired and they'd have to send another tech to assess what the problem was. Needless to say, what the original guy diagnosed wasn't the problem. The new tech did fix the actual problem but I think AHS should've let us know something a little sooner than that. We went three days without air conditioning - it was 98 degrees.

I like AHS but there's one thing I don't think is right. They warranty the refrigerator for repairs, but not the ice maker that's inside the freezer so I was upset when I called for repair. One person told me it was covered but when they connected me to the repairs, they say it's not covered and they did not explain it to me - I was mad about that. Also, they take care of the refrigerator but if you have an upright freezer, that's not covered which doesn't make sense to me. They also keep raising their prices every year so if I want to add the ice maker to my contract, I don't know what that will price. I was thinking about canceling my contract though I've been with them for years and had no problems, only this last time.

Accepted heater replacement suggestion. AHS came back with no part available comment suggesting to wait for 5 day before part availability and recommended that they either cancel part order or get in queue for cash in lieu which could take longer. My garage door started malfunctioning after I had AHS for 5 months. I paid my $100 service fee to have a contractor come out. The contractor indicated that my springs were too small and this caused/contributed to my garage door opener malfunctioning after several years of service. Neither AHS nor the contractor they hired sent me an estimate. I was only advised that it would cost over $600 to replace the springs and fix the motor. AHS denied my claim and indicated that the garage door opener was "secondary" damages (much like water damage from a leaky fridge) however the garage door opener is the "covered item". AHS has never sent me a denial letter.
When another AHS rep followed up a week later, they agreed that my claim was improperly denied however they were going to deny my claim for a different reason. Again, I requested a denial letter and inquired about their arbitration clause which costs more than my claim to file. Everyone at AHS claims they have no idea how arbitration works or if they pay part or all of the filing fee. Long story short, it takes over 30 minutes to reach anyone at AHS, they don't understand their contract and they refuse to send anything in writing and I'm left paying a $100 service fee for no "service" and not even an estimate.

Today, Aug 29th, 2015, is our 16th day without central air conditioning in our home. Two weeks ago yesterday, I placed a service request by phone. Easy enough. I was told an a/c contractor, Advantage Air in Panama City FL, would call. The owner called, said he could not come until Monday unless we paid out of pocket $200.00. Monday, technician came but a thunderstorm was passing and he left saying he couldn't work in the rain. Rescheduled for next day. Next day, Tuesday, said part had to be ordered. Followed up several times with AHS customer service. Each time they were very courteous, but I still have no a/c.
Finally after 6 days of rude encounters with their contractor, he said part came in and would be out Tuesday. Tuesday, after 6 hours technician left... I won't go into detail here but I was forced to pay him $210.00 or he would remove part he put in... Six hours later a/c stopped working. Requested AHS to send another contractor due to my troubles with first one. They sent another who reported damage done by first. AHS refused to authorize their recommendation and said #1 cont has to come back. #2 contractor called AHS to "go to bat for us". That was yesterday. Haven't heard anything since.
By the way, customer service said they flagged us as priority because my husband has severe lung disease which makes breathing difficult in heat/humidity. We had to spend $450.00 for portable A/C to cool parts of house to somewhat bearable temp. AHS customer rep did say they will reimburse $125.00 toward that purchase. Will see how long that takes when I send reimbursement request. 16 days and counting.
