There was no problem submitting a claim to American Home Shield. I called them, and they sent somebody out. There was a little bit of delay as far as Sears went, but I was happy with the guy who came and installed the part. He was very helpful. If I had to have somebody back again, I’d be fine if it was him. There’s no problem with my pump since the repair, and I’m happy with my experience. I’m glad we signed up with them and I’d recommend them highly.

We bought the house about eight years ago and the real estate agent gave us the warranty. I'm an older guy, I do the internet but I like talking to someone so I submit claims over the phone. The claims representatives and technicians have been all good. Everyone that has come has been courteous and took care of our stuff. It's been a good experience. I've recommended them to other people and some had a good experience and some hadn't but I haven't had bad feedback from anybody that I've recommended them to.

I purchased my house in 2008 and American Home Shield was the one that the homeowner gave me. The submission of claim has been very easy. The interactions with their techs were good, always positive and professional. We only had one particular time where we didn't get the service that I thought we needed, but everything’s been fine. I’ve recommended American Home Shield to some friends over the years.

American Home Shield has been fine since I've had it. The only issue I had was with a guy who worked on the pool because they couldn't tell me a general time that they could be out there and I'd have to be there the whole day. Also, I haven't had a chance to really check it to make sure the pool heater works because right now it's like a 100 degrees.

My AC is working good now, and everything I called AHS to do had been taken care of. They do a good job. I’m a satisfied customer and would recommend them.

My experience with American Home Shield has been, in one word: terrible. I would have found them better if they fired that service company they sent to repair my refrigerator because I understood that it was going to take a little while for the company to call me and schedule an appointment. However, my fridge died in the late afternoon of the 16th and the tech drove out here just 10 minutes today and told me my refrigerator should be cold in about 2 hours. But it's not acceptable in this part of the country (and me being a senior citizen) to get up in the morning everyday and run down the convenience store to buy a box of ice for my ice chest.

When I called AHS for the claim, I was told to wait 24 hours for the service company to call. I finally got a call to schedule the repair past noon and told them that I wanted the repair scheduled as soon as possible as I don't have a refrigerator in the meantime. They scheduled it for Thursday, 9 o'clock - a good 4 days from the scheduling call. It was late in the afternoon when the tech finally showed up and told us it would take a couple of days to get a new compressor for the refrigerator. Considering the urgency of getting somebody a refrigerator in their house, I thought somebody could have overnighted that compressor.

They finally called me yesterday to schedule a time they could come. Then they called back because they can't get here on the time frame they originally gave me. I understand that they needed a 2-hour window since some jobs take longer than anticipated. However, they called once more to reschedule again so I had to reschedule some things for my day since I didn't want to put out toward the weekend to have this job done. The tech finally arrived here at five minutes to twelve today and it was well after noon before he got his tools and parts in order and got started.

I haven't been happy with that experience but I've had excellent service from AHS in the past. Once we needed a new condenser fan for the AC. Another time, with a recent AC problem, the guy was here the next day. The issue turned out to be minor and he was able to take care of it but it took him a long time to figure out the issue. I also needed a new hot water heater several years ago. I understood that the tech got to diagnose the problem and that he doesn't have a bunch of water heaters lying around in their truck so it took a couple of days to get back out here with a hot water heater. Fortunately it was rather temperate, so I didn't have to take a cold shower in January which would have made me upset.

They refused to fix it. We had to pay for the replacement and installation. They breached the contract. The agents were rude and heartless. I hope no one ever goes through what we went through. Terrible service with American Home Shield and their service Contractors. 2 separate AC companies... The first one overcharged us by $750 and accounting found the billing error. Today a claim was rejected for a new AC coil because we were told by AHS that Dog Urine caused corrosion to the coil and that it's not covered under their policy! We attempted to call Angler Air in Brandon, Florida and AHS and no one would answer the phones, straight to voicemail all day! I'm mortified! NO dog has ever been near my pool or AC system which is covered by shrubs! This is absurd and the only way they can avoid paying for a new coil!!! Completely scammed by these 2 companies!!!

Calling a claim with American Home Shield was a great experience. The man who came out and looked at it checked it. They sent someone out there, and then they delivered a new range which I was thrilled to death to get and the whole thing was wonderful. I appreciate getting the new range so much and I never thought I'd be able to, so the company and everybody has been great. I was thrilled because I almost did not get home warranty when we bought the house in April, and because we had some extra points or credits, our realtor took it upon herself to pick it up for a year for us with what we had left over. Otherwise, I'd never gotten a new stove, which works great. I would recommend AHS to anyone.

But the biggest problem that I have with them is that when I have something to do with the furnace in the winter or when I had a water heater that needed to have some help done, it would take them over a week to get anything done because the people who came in would be arguing with each other and say that the other one is supposed to do it. I've been with American Home Shield for a long time, maybe eight years. Being with them gives me peace of mind. I don't have to worry. If something happens, I call them and they take care of the rest. I don't have to go looking for a plumber or for an air conditioning man. They take care of that. I just call them, pay $75, and I'm good. I got a claim in right now with them for my air conditioning.

Prior to this, my claim with them on my plumbing was a good experience -- it got fixed. I went online and selected "plumbing." They had a breakdown in terms of having various selections to choose from before. Now they would only have "plumbing" and other general categories, so it was difficult to select and be specific. Nonetheless, my claim went through. AHS knew what I needed and submitted it to the plumber. The contractors sent by AHS were cool, came on time, did what they had to do, and fixed the problem. Since the repairs, the performance of my plumbing has been excellent. Their repairs helped and solved the problem that we were having.

Our AC failed after three months in our new home. The microwave failed as well. After two weeks, we have yet to see a technician for the microwave. An AC fellow showed up, said the AC would need to be replaced. That was the second technician who said this. We then heard from Home Shield that they won't replace it, but they will put a new circuit board in it. Of course, we've not seen or heard from them since, they just sent us an e-mail asking us to give them a survey on how they did on their last (non) repair. Don't waste your money, this policy is useless, this company will do everything in its power to just collect premiums and not repair or replace anything. Meanwhile we've been without AC for over a month now, right through the peak of the summer heat.

I've had AHS for many years. On the last claim I did, a gentleman came out to check my refrigerator because of its rattling noise. I liked that AHS sent someone from Sears, a vendor that specializes in exactly what my appliance was. He didn't find anything wrong, just gave me a little bit of education on how to clean the coils. He was very professional, courteous, and willing to help. It was a quick service call and once the refrigerator was cleaned and something was adjusted, there was no additional noise. I was just concerned it was more of a major problem than what it was.

AHS has also helped me in the past. I had a major repair a year or two ago with my A/C unit and the claim was found to be outside of their policy maximum. I do not recall being told about the policy maximum before. However, I was able to work that issue out. So all-in-all, AHS has been positive, efficient and you get what you pay for with them.

It’s not on the work ticket. We’re not here to look at it; we’re not here to discuss it.” That’s been the repeated response. I get that there are some repairs that could lead into other. If this was covered, then I could pick up the phone and call and say, “This could affect this. Is this covered?” But it’s like they’ve been instructed now that if it’s not on that ticket, don’t even talk about it. That part frustrates me. I bought into a policy from AHS, more than 10 yrs now. It is responsible for making home repairs in certain appliances, or plumbing, for a regulated fee, depending on the policy you buy. Anyway, when I bought this policy 10+ yrs ago, I added my Well System in it specifically because we are totally dependent on it for water, and it can get expensive. Well, today our water went out and finding water rushing from under the well house cover. I can't remove the metal blue cover in it to see what is happening, however, it leaves our household without water, and had to shut it down for now to stop the flow of water.

When calling about getting a repairman to come fix the well, am being told they don't cover plumbing outside of the residential foundation. I don't know of anyone whose well, is within their residential foundation. Like I told her I don't know that it isn't a pipe inside the well that has busted, but I specifically added my well coverage for any and all reasons that my well is not working properly. It is our water source, and it is not pumping to the house. I'm not sure if she understood what I'm telling her. She is focused in telling me, they don't cover plumbing outside of the house. But I would think that anything under the cover of my metal blue well is a part of it and therefore would be covered. That's like saying we do repairs but we don't supply the tools to fix it.

I'm not talking about the pipes running to the house, or even the ones standing beside the well. I'm talking rushing water from under the well cover that I can't see where it is coming from, causing the well not to perform. I didn't like this kind of shabby coverage. Too shady for me. I've had issues in the past with the company and I've read a lot of questionable negative things lately. I think it's time to change services. I will update in how this turns out tomorrow, but I don't like this uneasy feeling they have placed in me right now. I shouldn't have to worry if it's covered, when I've been paying for coverage for about 15 yrs now.

We submit our claims online and it was easy. The only complaint we’ve ever had was when we’ve had to have work on our furnace. The contractor that they sent out is not competent. Usually they send him out first and he always has some funny little story to tell us and eventually someone else has to do the repair. The unit was replaced and everything has been performing fine.

I called a representative with American Home Shield for my water heater, and the contractors that they sent to my home were fantastic. I thought he was going to say that I need a new heater and it would take a few days, but he had one in his van and immediately replaced my heater that was leaking. It’s worked fine now since the replacement, and I haven’t had any problems. I was very happy, and I had an excellent experience, however the only thing I was upset about was when I had a problem with one of the air conditioning unit during the winter months here. My AC kept turning on and off every 30 seconds, and AHS said that there was a 48-hour response time before they get to the unit. My understanding was if it’s an emergency, it would be within 24 hours that they’d come and service my appliance, and I could be wrong but to me it was an emergency.

I called AHS and they made an appointment. They showed me something about resetting the unit, and I did it. I called back to let them know that it was taken care of, and they wanted to send somebody out to take a look at my AC and I said I didn’t want to do that since at that time my AC was already running for a day, and I let it go for a day because AHS said I had 48 hours, and my unit cleared up. My AC had a deductible, and I’ve got to pay for it if the servicemen would come out and my AC was working okay. Despite this, I have recommended AHS to a couple of my family members.

Our most recent claim with American Home Shield was for the air conditioning. My husband tried to submit the claim on the phone and it was all automated. He's from England and has an accent and the voice recognition does not understand him. The contractor that came out immediately figured out what was wrong and had the parts that we needed in the truck. He fixed it and explained to my husband what had happened. He was in and out of there in about 15 minutes. And we were just getting ready to go into 3 or 4 days of 105 degrees so that was really helpful. Every time we've had to have someone out, they've always been good and knew what they were doing and fixed the problem. We didn't have to wait a long time for them.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for a refrigerator. The representative was very cordial and courteous. For the contractor, he came out about three times and on the first time, he looked at it and recommended that I get something new. I don't think that they make the type of refrigerator we have now, so I actually filed a claim to get the repairs. He was very patient and didn't rush the repair. Had a few little items that didn't go right and he came back and recalibrated the compressor

Overall, I had a great experience with his service and the refrigerator is doing awesome since the repair. It's hard to say if it was working like it was before but with new parts, I'm thinking it's just as efficient. So overall, this wasn't one of those things wherein you get in a snag, call for a service and you have to wait on the contractor. In my situation, I requested service on Thursday or Friday and I needed them to come quick. But the first service contractor wasn’t available until the following week so I was given a different contractor. He then came out on Monday, so it was quick.

The more expensive American Home Shield gets, the less I'm satisfied. I’m a realtor but it’s very hard for me to recommend it when I’m having so much trouble in my home. You will be on hold for at least half an hour if you call them to talk about something. If it gets submitted on the web and not choose your contractor or the time, hopefully that contractor that they have will call you.

The last contractor that they send out was terrible. He was very concerned about getting his $100 check-in amount, and the first thing he says when he walks through the door, “I need you to write my check. I need to get my check. I’m really supposed to get it right when I walk in the house.” That’s a very bad first sight but I said, “Okay, fine, I’d be glad to go get my purse and write you a check.” I had to tell him what was wrong, and he agreed with me, and then he said, “Well, that’s not covered by American Home Shield.” It was fine with me and I told him to see what they would charge to fix the problem. But they never called me back.

I have three American Home Shield warranties and I used to be a satisfied customer. I find American Home Shield's service is getting worse. Every time they come out to do repair, you have to call them back two or three times to get it right. And usually if I had a problem, I would call the company representative and she’s not there anymore. I’m not impressed and it’s gone very expensive. Most of my service calls are $100, but it was $65 per contractor when I first started.

I called again and the next contractor said they didn't have the experience to work on our unit. I called again and got the run around where they pushed me off to dispatch to find another contractor. I even asked for a supervisor and was told that they didn't have one and that I would get the same response. I was told that they put an emergency request on my account. I didn't hear anything, so the next morning I called again, and was told that dispatch was working it. I pushed and finally was told if I didn't hear anything to call back. My most recent claim from American Home Shield was for my refrigerator. The problem was that the filter was not put correctly. So the first guy that looked at it told me that it needed a new filter, so I got a new filter. The second guy that came installed that filter and said that the other one wasn't right. But in the end, it turned out to be a good experience. The water was tasting yucky and there was a lot of noise at night, so it was the filter that wasn't right, but it's doing fine now.

I've paid my contract because I had a credit card on file and that credit card got switched because I went through Home Depot and I didn't change it with their guys. So, there were a couple of credit card things that didn't go through. But I called in and made the necessary payment to pay out the contract. After that, the rep I was talking to researched it and said it was fine.

Then the next time I called, I asked for the supervisor. That time, the guy would not let me speak to the supervisor. He took the information. Then the third time, I did speak to the supervisor. She researched and said that I still owe money and that she was going to send the information to me. I said I needed to see the actual billing where my account has been credited with the date. I need to see it in writing, but I never got that. So somebody else called me again. Of course, I'm upset. I called back this time and spoke to a rep who told me that I still owed two payments to satisfy that contract.

Anyway, earlier this week or last week, I finally got a written copy and it said that my account was not past due. It was paid up as of May. But in between that time, I got a phone call about renewing. I wanted to renew it because it expired in August. So they told me in order to renew it, I had to pay the two billings, which they were saying were past due but I knew I didn't owe. And I was right. So overall, the services are fine, but the billing is crappy. I was upset about signing up again because of the billing. It's like they had two separate accounts. One person looks here and one person looks there, and they come up with two different conclusions. But I know what's the truth. So that's my deal, although I have already recommended them to a friend.

I think that for the number of claims that you put in, it might be a little expensive. I'm not really pleased with my experience with American Home Shield. I called in June and I was having problems with my air conditioner. They came out and they put a compressor. Then I called back again because I was having problems. I didn't know if the air conditioner had leaked or one of the air ducts was mildewed on the outside. They came out but he called my brother before he got here to ask what do we think the problem is. My brother said that they were the professional and that is why they came here. So when he came out, he looked. He really didn't do anything. He didn't go into the attic and he didn't check. I paid $100. See, I work out of the country so I have to have people to come here and check. So he came in, I paid the $100. He said he was going redirect the service call. That took a while.

I called AHS. I called them to see if he had redirected it, to see if it the was the air conditioner or whatever. They said they never received it. Every time I would call, I would be holding on the telephone. I'm in a rack holding on the phone for over 45 minutes. So then when I came home this Saturday, my air conditioner was not working. So I called American Home Shield again. They sent one out. This time I was shocked because they answered the phone quickly. The guy came out. He said that he had to submit his work request to AHS and he said he needed to call. Now, he said I had to pay $1600. So my question is, if I'm paying a monthly fee, and every time they come out another $100 whether they do anything or not, and then I got to pay additional $1600, why should I have a service plan?

I submit my claim to them every time over the phone. They representative handled it as best as they could, other than waiting the whole time. But the last person, she said that she hadn't had it. They were supposed to redirect it but she said I was going to get a phone call. I never got a phone call back to see what he redirected. I still paid $100 and they didn't do anything. I had the services since 2011. So, I got to pay $1600. Well, I already got another air conditioning company, I went on and paid to have my air conditioner fixed. So I just cancelled my AHS and I'll just deal with my stuff directly.

I'm angry with the situation. As a matter of fact, I had three people, which before this incident I had, joined the policy and I just called them and told them the bad experience and told them that I cancelled it. My neighbor behind me had joined. So I told them, it's up to them if they want to continue the service. I joined this service by word of mouth. I've been in the service since 2001. I have never had any maintenance problems other than my air conditioning this time. Because normally, it's just been quick stuff that they come in, pay $100. And I said, okay. But this time, I just cancelled.

I have been 100% satisfied with American Home Shield. They are fast, efficient and a wonderful company. I have them in my home and two of my homes that I had owned previously. All of my children have AHS in their home and anybody that I see who says they're having air conditioning problems, I tell them "When you get it fixed, then call American Home Shield and get insurance on it so you don't have to have that big expense again." One or two of my houses are in the Ferriday, Louisiana area, and there are hardly no service people down there, but they have treated me totally great.

I live a hundred miles north of where this house is so I'm not down there to see that the work is completed and that it's done right. I have to rely on the renter to tell me that everything is working. Once, I was told that the air conditioner wasn't working even after the man fixed it. So after the renters moved out, we moved down there and found out that it actually was working. They just didn't want to turn it on because they thought that it ran the electricity deal up. I was complaining to AHS just because of what the renter told me. So right now it looks like the last person who worked on it didn't fix it, but he actually did. American Home Shield works great with me when anything like that happens.

However, when the 1999-model microwave broke, the repairman that came out was on the phone with a representative and said, "Well, even though you can't get the parts anymore, you have to send the motherboard in for a repair." That was more money than a new microwave. I had to wait two weeks and the repairman said they won't be able to fix it. American Home Shield may have wasted some money and certainly wasted my time in waiting to have it replaced. With something that old and with no replacement parts, it would've made more sense to go right to a replacement.

Other than that, everything else has been great anytime we've made a phone call in, especially when I submitted a claim regarding my air conditioning. The young man they sent was amazing. I’ve been with American Home Shield for years, and submitting claims was an easy task. Their technicians were good and they do their job. AHS gives you the service you need and they always follow up with you. I never had to complain about the repairs they’ve done, and I couldn’t be happier with the company. I recommend them to a lot of people, since I own a vitamin store and I always tell my customers about them.

The air conditioner went out so we called American Home Shield. I told the representative what my problem was. I also told him that my wife is a heart patient and we're stuck on a weekend with 114 to 116 degree temperatures. The representative got busy on it. The contractor got out here Saturday morning and confirmed that unfortunately, our AC was gone. They juggled their schedules and did the best they could to get it done within a few days which they did, on the next hottest day in Arizona on a Friday afternoon. Working with American Home Shield was what we expected. My wife used to work for American Home Shield as a rep years ago so were very familiar with them. We're both retired real estate brokers and we've been around American Home Shield for years.

Submitting the claim was okay but it didn't cover the whole thing. I still had to pay. They came and looked at it and they said I need a new motor and it cost me about $250 extra.

Please be accurate and fair with your comments. Remember, you are responsible for what you write. See our Review Guidelines if you have questions. I had AHS for over 10 years when I lived in Texas and the service was always great. So when I moved to Okla I took out the AHS service. Sat 8/15 I called AHS about 7PM because our air conditioner had gone out and we had a person here recently diagnosed with cancer and could not make it through the weekend in a hot house. I explained this to the lady that answered the phone and she said she would schedule someone to come out but it may not be until Mon or Tue.

After the work order was scheduled I called the company they selected and got essentially the same answer. I called AHS back and asked if I could have other names of companies AHS have contract with so I could call them and see if they would make a late Sat service call. I was told by the lady that she could not do that. Once the service call is let to a company they can't change it to another company unless that company does not perform. Sooo, I called around and found a company that came out and repaired my air conditioner at 9PM Sat and charged me $100. I think that AHS could have been a little more flexible in helping to find someone for a late night weekend service call.

However, there's a lot of red tape to go through to get something done sometimes. He brought the water heater out to fix it and they didn't want to fix it just then. Ultimately, we ended up replacing it which was better for us but it took days for them to figure that out.

The contractors were fine, came out and did what they had to do, and were done really fast. The toilet's been good since the repair.

I've not had any problems with AHS. My other house in Maricopa where my mom lives, I have AHS there for many years, and I love it. AHS is very highly recommended by me. The air conditioning didn't work so we had to call AHS and my experience with their reps have always been good. I've never had any issues with anybody and any negative customer service at all. The technician they sent came over and the AC worked a little bit but that wasn't perfect and kept being dysfunctional. We've put up with it for a couple of weeks and made my way through to make it work as best as I could but I had enough of that. I called them again and they came out, did more diagnosing, and found more things that were wrong. It hasn't been fixed yet but rumor has it that the parts would be checked out here today or yesterday and then they can install it sometime after that point. One of the things on my to-do list today is to call and ask the repair people if they got the parts and if they did, I was going to schedule the repair which might be nice since it's hot in Texas.

The only issue I have with American Home Shield is that there's always a long hold time to get into the service. It might be 10 or 15 minutes, sometimes longer and that's not good or bad. But what other companies that have long hold times do is that they have a system in which you just type in your phone number and they do a callback that day usually from another service. I didn't have to sit tied to my phone hoping somebody will talk and I could do other things and that's a lot more productive. Other than that, they've been good and everybody has been very accommodating and helpful.

I had a very disappointing experience with AHS. I called them because I had no hot water. However, they did not ask me anything. They didn't want to know what was wrong, so they could not make an intelligent selection of a contractor or they didn't know what their contractors' abilities were. So, when AHS contractor called me, I told him that we have a Noritz which is a tankless water heater. Unfortunately, he said that he doesn't know anything about that.

It happened on a Friday and I've got out-of-town guests staying with us. So, I also called the plumber that I do use all the time, who installed my tank with water heater. We made arrangements and he came out. Apparently, the circuit board of the water heater went dead, and we were able to have it overnighted to our house. Then, the circuit board was installed by 11 o'clock Saturday morning.

Then, the other plumber, AHS contractor, called and said that he couldn't be on our house for another four days. I said "Well, forget it. Cancel the warranty call." I wrote this on the email. I was also requested to make a comment and I did. But I didn't get a response because I said, "How about paying the $475 that it had cost me to have this done?" Aside from that, I have another problem that is covered by AHS and needs to be done by weekend. And since I cannot trust AHS to do anything in that short period of time, I'm having a private person do it. So I'm not that crazy about AHS right now. I'm so much angry with them and with the person who took the call.

The plumber they sent out fixed what we needed to be fixed, so he did a good job. Some of the plumbers they sent out didn't do a very good job prior to it. AHS was a good deal for us because when we bought the house, the realtor requested that the seller buy the policy and cover any repairs required, so we spent almost a year fixing everything that was wrong with the house that we moved into. AHS is satisfactory and above average, depending on the contractor - some are good, some aren't too good. The whole process, however, is good as far as going online and getting your ticket set-up and all that.

I had no hot water and the people came out and said that it couldn’t be repaired - it was too old. I needed a new one. Sears couldn’t get parts anymore so I was getting jerked around between American Home Shield and then the repair guy. AHS kept saying “Well no, he hasn’t called us” and the repair guy replied repeatedly with “Yes, I have.” I told them it can’t be repaired. This went on for over a week. Then they put in a cheap hot water heater that’s really noisy. You can hear it upstairs when it’s heating up water. I was not happy and there’s nothing I can do about it.

After the hot water heater incident, I was supposed to get a $100 credit. But when I had another issue, I never got the credit, and the same thing went on. The provider said "they didn’t give us any extra money to pass on to you," and then American Home Shield said “Oh yeah, yeah, they’re supposed to give you that credit. But go ahead and pay them first and then I’ll give you the $100 back ‘cause we’ll pay them.” I still never saw it. But other than that and based on overall experience, I think American Home Shield warranty is a great policy and coverage to have.

I’ve used American Home Shield twice on my air conditioner and it's been great. I originally submitted the claim online but had to call back in and let them know that I needed the air conditioner and get them to put a priority as my wife is handicapped and she can't breathe real well if she didn't have it. The representative has helped me very much on it. The first time, the contractor spotted the problem real quick, it's with my heater and it has a blown fuse. He checked it out, replaced the fuse, tested and retested it, then fixed it for us in a very short time.

The second problem was that the drain had stopped up on my air conditioner. The man came out and he looked at it. We kept talking about what it's done and he said “Well, it could be your thermostat,” it shows on there that it's in recovery (mode). It's trying to go back to move to a different point than what it’s at and if it's in recovery so it's been running. Then I suggest – off the top of my head – "Do you think the drain could be stopped up?" And he said "That's a very good thing."

So he went in there and fixed the drain but he didn’t warn me that I needed to put something over to cover it. The drain went from the conditioner to the bathroom sink and when it blew the pressure out of it, it went to blow it back up to the sink. I had stuff all over my bathroom and all over me. The first time he did it, it didn't move much. But the third time he did, it blew all that stuff out and so it went everywhere. But after that, we were okay and it worked fine, he did me a good job. Now, the units have performed perfectly. So far, I've been extremely satisfied though it's a bit hard to get a hold of customer service sometimes as they are extremely busy. But other than that, I haven’t had any problem. I'd definitely recommend them.

He was polite and efficient, and was respectful of our time and home.

I submitted a claim online for a water leak on our main water line coming into the house. Everything worked out fine because it turned out not to be a problem. The person that informed us of the water leak was mistaken. There wasn't actually anything wrong. My experience with the other claims have been fine although we did have a problem with one plumber that we had used with getting a hold of him and everything scheduled. They weren't showing up when they said they would. They wouldn't return phone calls. So we contacted American Home Shield to get a different plumber which was fine.

All the other contractors that they sent for any of our other claims, they've all been fine. They've been generally in and out to take care of the problem. Since the repair, everything's been running fine. I'm very thankful we have American Home Shield. It was definitely a good investment and we plan to keep renewing as long as we can. It's been a great experience. It's been very helpful and it saved us a lot of sleepless nights.

I called in a request for an icemaker repair in March, it is now the end of August. A repairman came out initially and said he would have to order a part. He is now telling me that AHS is responsible for sending him the part. I have called AHS probably a dozen times re this. I am usually on hold at least an hr or until my phone battery runs out. I got through once and was told she would check on it and call me right back. Of course no callback. I got on with live chat and was told I would have to call, as she couldn't help me.

Our most recent claim was for the air conditioner unit and it was our second time with the same AC company. I can't say enough good things about American Home Shield. Everything has been top notch. Once you've been with them for long enough, you know which air conditioner or appliance company to ask for, and they honor your request asking for that specific vendor. You get phone calls, in 24 to 48 hours at the longest, from the vendor to make an appointment. They come and take care of it. If they can't, somebody else is sent out. There has been a number of calls we made to American Home Shield in since 2013 - the garbage disposal froze and they sent a plumber out, we also had a problem twice with our KitchenAid big refrigerator and they sent someone to take care of it. Every one of them has been a 5-star experience.

My experience with AHS has always been good and excellent, and that's the reason that I still have them. In fact, submitting a claim with them was fast and easy. I had my recent claim with them for my AC and I did it online. Then, the guy they sent out was excellent. He came out on Monday afternoon and said that he was going to send another team to put a sniffer on the AC. He said that he would get a hold of me whenever he sent them. However, the last time he said that he was going to go and do something like that was almost three weeks ago and he never came. And then I had to call in that service request again. But overall, I'd recommend AHS.

I was looking at different home warranty providers and when I called American Home Shield, the person I talked to was very informative, not pushy, and answered every question I needed. I thought that was really good so I chose them over the others. I've had very good experiences with them. I've been very pleased with the workers that have come, they're not fly-by-night people. They've been very courteous, professional, and kind. They didn't clean up after themselves too well, but it was not a big deal as they did a good job. In fact, I even asked for the card of one of the plumbing people (J and M Plumbing) who put in a shower stall bar in our bathtub area because he was so good. I would recommend them to anybody else.

I appreciate American Home Shield's recommendations, and their insights into the systems in the home.

My air conditioner wasn't working so I filed a claim with AHS which had been a good experience. They told me who my service rep company was going to be and if I wanted to, I can call them and get an appointment or they can call me. They're supposed to call me within 24 hours which they did but because I called after hours, they called the next business day. Their contractor came on time and I'd ask them to give me a call when they were on route because I work 15 minutes away from the house so I can go home. They called and I got there, so he went in, did what he needed to do, looked outside and everything was taken care of. They had ordered another unit for us and they did that and delivered the next day. Moreover, the person who came was very polite and we've not had any problems with American Home Shield contractors. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and it saves me a lot of money.

My recent claim with American Home Shield was with the heating. I submitted the claim online, put it up, and got an email almost immediately saying who's going to do it. They contacted me the next morning and set up an appointment. AHS representatives were very polite, very accommodating, and explained everything to us. Contractors sent were very pleasant, they got it fixed for us without any problems. They did charge us a little bit too much because we had to pay for the freon, but then they sent us a refund check because the worker had overcharged us. They returned $25 to us, but that was no big issue. Since the repair, the heater works perfect now.

We've been completely satisfied with everything that we've called them on. We had a new pump in our well. The computer on our oven was not functioning properly; they repaired that. They put in a new garbage disposal. We haven't had an issue on anything. They were able to repair everything; they've taken care of it and very promptly, too. Overall, I couldn't expect more with AHS.

Submitted a claim to AHS for my air conditioner and somebody came out. They had to order the parts, came back a week later and installed them. It's been very good since the repair. But prior to that claim it was a nightmare. I had two claims going: one with a dishwasher and one with the washing machine. The serviceman came out and tried to fix, ordered parts which took forever to get and he made an appointment saying the parts would be in. Then he called and said they hadn't. My wife and I called American Home Shield and found out that he had received the parts two days earlier. They called and he immediately came back out and said all of a sudden he was able to locate parts in town. He didn't know that we had called American Home Shield, so he lied and forgot to bring the parts to fix the dishwasher. That was a negative experience but it wasn't American Home Shield's fault but the repairman's.

The most recent claim I had for AHS was for the dryer. I had to call because they actually submitted with a second call about the dryer. They submitted it to Sears, and I actually have a complicated situation. My ex-husband's second ex-wife's name is Michele (the first one is Martha). Apparently, she had an account at Sears. So every time anything get sent to Sears, for some reason, they tag it to her, and I have missed the original phone call about setting up a time. So when I called back, I spend 30 minutes on the phone with Sears arguing with them that I was not Michele, I was Melissa and they told me that I didn't have a record. Then I had to call American Home Shield back and then they actually had to book it.

Then the guy came out and he rewired what was wrong with the dryer, but then when I use it, it got extremely hot. It smelt like it was on fire, so I had to unplug it. When I called back Sears, it would take them three weeks to be able to come back out. So I actually had to pull that dryer out of that home and put in a different one in there. When I called American Home Shield to let them know what I did, because I'm not trying to rip anybody off, they told me that since I had pulled it out, they would have to cancel the recall on it because I removed it from the house, which makes sense.

The contractor that they sent out to repair the dryer was really, really nice. I don't think it was of any fault of him. We ended up having to go and fix it ourselves because they wouldn't, because they couldn't send anybody out because we removed it. The dryer works wonderful now that we spent 150 bucks to have it fixed on our own. Overall, I still recommend American Home Shield, that company is great. That was not the fault of American Home Shield. It was all Sears.

I was sent a bill to renew my membership with American Home Shield, and we sent the check in. When the check arrived, it was being processed, and in the middle of that process, I called them to put in a work request order, and they told me that they were going to terminate my membership with them because they had the privilege of denying people membership after evaluating either my claims or the projected anticipated claims. I felt that it wasn’t ethical to offer notice with the renewal of the bill and then to turn them down when I wanted to use the service. I wanted to continue my membership with them because I liked the plan but I think that it’s not right to offer somebody a plan and the party sent in their payment, and then when you want to use the plan they penalize you for it. It’s something that’s not right. I asked them to reconsider it; they said they would evaluate it, and they never got back to me. That’s a very frustrating experience.

Submitting a claim with American Home Shield has been easy when they send somebody out. However, currently I’m having a plumbing problem, and when they do something, they say it’s only for 60 days. To me, it’s not enough because we have a plumbing problem or an air conditioning problem, and it might be three months down the line. Some months ago, I had some plumbing done. I knew they had put in a toilet and they said it was done on June 17th. I called in yesterday, so being a couple of days past that day, I got to pay an additional $100 and it got me upset a little bit. Some months back, they had unstopped the tub in that same bathroom.

I’ve also been dealing with air condition in this house, and several days I’ve been over the weekend for them to come out or whatever they might do. Then I have to suffer however long because it’s been hot, so it’s been one thing after another. The technicians have been nice and seem to know what they’re doing, but it seems like I’m still having a problem and I want it fixed. If I have any more problems, I’ve got to pay more money for them to come out, and I believe that when you do something, you need to make sure it sticks. I shouldn’t have to call back and call back. I’m reaching my limit at this point but I understand because I used to work with a company and I try to be patient and understanding.

So far, my experience with American Home Shield is good only they increased their payment by a few dollars. The most recent claim I had with them was when my garage door opener broke down. When I called them, I made sure the repair people call me the same day or some time the next day. The guy came, fixed it and took care of it. Since the repair on my garage door, it's okay, it opens and closes, but it's just real noisy. But I'm not sure if it's from the belt. The service is excellent. If anything breaks, they come down and take care of it, and that's what the customer is looking for. I already recommended them to two people. I heard a lot of horror stories, but I would say they're not bad.
