The American Home Shield service was great as always. But there was a problem with the electric co. I complained to American Home Shield and they said they'd sent them back. They never got back to me.

My garbage disposal stopped working. I went online in submitting a claim and it was really easy. The contractor sent by American Home Shield was excellent. He was friendly, professional, very helpful and got the job done. It's working perfectly since the repair. AHS is a very good company. It takes care of everything it says it's going to.

It's been a blessing being with American Home Shield. Paying that one charge of $75 for the trip has saved us a lot of money. A recent claim was for our refrigerator. We have the in-the-door ice and water dispenser and one day the water wouldn't work, so we called them. The first fellow came out and checked the filters, and the filters were fine. He thought it was a plumbing problem so he left. Then the plumber came. I wasn't home at that point but I heard all about it. There was some black mineral build-up at the faucet and the water worked when that got cleaned out. Today's call is for our ice maker which quit, so we've had no ice since the water came back on, and that's our most recent claim. But we had one claim before that when our dishwasher needed a new control panel. That got done and everything's fine with our dishwasher.
The only problem we've had was with a miscommunication. The fellow who repaired our dishwasher didn't communicate well with the American Home Shield office because the office told us that he would be out here on a certain day and we waited until five that day then called the office. He must have been contacted by their office because he called right back and said that he wouldn't be here that day, and hadn't picked up the part yet, so he would call when he had the part. But the part was in and he only had to go get it and come and do the repair.

AHS is a very deceptive company. Whenever I try to call them to report a problem and fill a service request, I am on hold for more than 10 minutes. Often times you are not sure if your issues is covered or not under contract, so you want to talk to someone before you place a service request (costs $75). But they make it so difficult to talk to someone that you are stuck with using an automated line. Most contractors then come and say "this is not covered" and ask for $75. It is a scam to discourage calling in for warranty repair.
In my one case I had an external drain clogged. I wanted to ask them over the phone what is considered external; and I never got to a service personnel even after 20 minutes. So I placed an automated request. The contractor called before he came, and I also told him it was an external drain issue. He did not say anything about it not being covered. As soon as he came, he called some direct line to AHS and told me it is not covered and asked for $75. Would never take their warranty coverage again, and do not even take it if its free during a real estate transaction. Ask for $100 instead, that is more worthwhile. They also exclude most important issues a new homeowner may come across.

My old washer had finally bit the dust, and the contractor Dennis's told me it was time to replace the washer. So I did. But I did it before contacting American Home Shield. (This happened on a Sunday.) When I called Monday I told them my washer went out and Dennis told me I needed a new one. She said okay and started asking about all features on the old washer. I told her. Then she said, "well, we will get one and set up date for replacement." I told her, "I already bought one at Sears and it is in." Then she said, "well, we will get a check out to you." Then she told me what would have be done if I waited that American Home Shield would have taken care of all of that.

My recent experience with American Home Shield was good. I got my stove fixed on time. I talked with their representative and she explained everything that was going to happen within the time frame. The contractor that was sent here was a local, so he knew where our home was and he had no problems finding us. He was very courteous, cleaned up after himself, and fixed the stove. The performance since the repair has been excellent. I'm glad that I have the insurance.

I was with another warranty company for several years before and American Home Shield's method in submitting claims is easier to use and got quick results. Putting in the claim through online process is very easy and user-friendly. My most recent claim was my air conditioning. I wasn't home when they sent the contractor but my husband said the guy was very professional and took care of the problem right away. I think the thing I was most impressed with was they came the day after I put the claim in and it was fixed immediately. Now our air conditioning works as normal. We've been in the house for almost a year now and that's the only claim we've put in but so far everything's good and I renewed for another year.

I had AHS come look at my air conditioning duct system and they sent out AAction Air Conditioning. They came the next day with an appointment. They were late in getting here, but that was understandable since it was late in the afternoon and I was the last one in line. They were very professional and we had a good interaction. They also determined that the issue that another contractor told me was actually not there and that there is nothing needed to be done.

The connection to our refrigerator wasn't working properly so I placed a call. They dispatched someone. Quick turnaround on that. They had to replace the line, and in the process, had to cut out some of the wall. After they finished replacing the line, American Home Shield dispatched somebody to fix the wall. It was very timely. Very good work. No complaints. It's been fine after the repair.
The only thing negative was when our stove went out right about the same time as we were having problems with the plumbing. Their process of making a purchase and submitting the documentation before they would reimburse me did not make sense because the stove needed to be replaced. They knew we were going to replace it. They should've just refunded me the money without me having to go back and show proof of the purchase. Other than that, the experience has been good, so far.

American Home Shield just dropped me like a hot potato!!! At the end of my contract, I was told that I had used my policy too much. I've had American Home Shield for about 5 years and while I've not always been happy with them, I'm an elderly, disabled woman and I can't do the repairs myself. And it was cheaper and easier than trying to find reputable repairmen to deal with. Over the years, I have had plumbing, hvac, pool, dryer, and electrical work. I also had to have a new refrigerator. It was my understanding that is what these policies are for. When I complained, they told me there was another policy they would allow me to purchase for a lot more money. Evidently, they do this to people on a regular basis and have a back-up policy. No, thank you American Home Shield. You are expensive enough already. I live in a rural area and it is difficult to find a company that has coverage out here but I hope I can find another one.

I tried to call them back and they never answered. They made it worse than before, so I ended up buying a new one. But AHS has been good. They had fixed my air conditioner before and the guy did a dynamite job. It was my thermostat that wasn’t working. It's much cooler now so I didn't have to turn it up as high as I used to before. One of the control items in the electrical box was running hot. I called American Home Shield and they couldn't find someone to come out right away because it was a Muslim holiday. That upset me because it could've turned into an electrical fire. It already burned that plug out and was smelling. Eventually, they found someone who would come out the next day to fix the problem. I had to take a chance on something catching a fire until the next day. The person came and found out that it was electrical, the fuse completely burnt out. He did okay, the lights and everything all worked perfectly. I checked it after he left and check it every so often and it still runs hot. But as far as the service was concerned, they did replace the item.

Recently, I filed a plumbing claim. Their contractor came on time. When he finished working on it, I called his office to pay the copay and he left. It turned out that they never got a pre-approval for the job. American Home Shield called me after the contractor left and gave me an estimate of what I'm supposed to pay. They should've done it before the work was finished. Then the contractor's office called and threatened to sue me if I don't pay them. I called American Home Shield and told them about the threat, they told me that the contractor shouldn't have done that and they're suppose to give an estimate before working on the job. They assured me that they will call the contractor and will update me on the status of this problem but I never received any call back until now.
They performed the work professionally, only to find out that some parts were not covered. Three weeks have passed and I never heard anything from them. I called the plumber's office and they told me that they understood who's fault it was. Ive been working with American Home Shield for so many years and I never had this problem. I was able to get a new compressor through AHS which was great but I had no idea that they only covered a very small percentage of the coolant that had to fill the new compressor. What I initially thought would be just my deductible, ended up costing me over $700.00 by the time it was all over. I do wish that AHS had made that fact more clear from the beginning.

We recently bought a home where the seller provided, via their broker, an American Home Shield (AHS) home protection plan. Now, 4.5 months later our hot water heater has a leak and flooding our basement. AHS send a plumber within 24 hours and he determined that the water heater needs to be replaced. He collected $75 and left. Next thing, AHS send us an email that they will seek 2nd opinion since they think it may be due to lack of maintenance. However, out contract clearly states that lack of maintenance (and it did not fail due to lack of maintenance) is cover and is not an exclusion. Not the 2nd opinion plumber is not available for another 2.5 days.
Bottom line: We will be out of hot water heater and hot water (two adults and three kids) for at least 4.5 days and likely longer. Also our basement is still getting flooded from the 80 gallons still in the tank even though I have turned off fresh water supply. Terrible service. I guess AHS is denying us service by prolonging and hoping that we would give up and get a replacement water heater at our own expense.

We received a contract with American Home Shield as part of our home purchase. After running into issues with our septic, we figured out it was caused by a leaking toilet. This was very easy to do with a dye test. Figured I would give them a call and get the issue repaired. Tech never called me. I had to call them over 2 days to get the initial appointment, which was for the next week. They arrived on time, came in, ran the toilets and immediately said there was no problem. I tried to explain the problem to them, but he would not listen. He then starts saying "well that wont be covered under the warranty." I tell him I am calling AHS to see about it.
Woman on the phone with AHS says it is covered, and notes that the tech (who was on the phone with them as well) was making notes that he would fix the problem. When he finally comes back to the door he randomly says "Well I guess you are wanting another contractor?" I said "no I would like to get the issue fixed." He yells "there is no issue."
I'm a contractor myself. I'm not a dummy. I know exactly what the problem is and exactly how to fix it. Just thought I would try the service out to save some time and money. Turns out that was a mistake. Now trying to get a supervisor on the phone for the last hour to see if I really have to pay 75$ for someone to come to my home, be rude, and refuse to fix the problem.
Hi Cory, I am sorry to hear about this experience. I appreciate the time you have taken to bring this to our attention. Our records indicate that we were able to send a 2nd opinion out who was authorized to do the repairs. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Thanks! ^CW

My recent claim with American Home Shield was for plumbing, but I had a pain-in-the-butt time because my computer doesn't like to work all the time so I had to call them. The call was in a nonstop "press 1" for this and "press 7" for this, and I just wanted someone to come fix my toilet. And when the one time that I got through someone, the rep was very polite. However, I'm not on their paperwork so they wouldn't let me do anything. Jean had to do it on her computer at work.
They sent the contractor to fix it. It was the same guy both times and he was awesome. He told me what he could and couldn't do and what needed to be done. Because we have an older house, the pipes were probably paperwork or cardboard left so he said it may just be an obstruction and all we did was poke a hole in it and it'll probably fill back up and cause a problem again. But, he was able to fix the plumbing. He was polite and funny and we sat here chatting when he was done. We liked their service, and have already recommended them to my stepson.

The ice maker in my freezer was broken. It was leaking and there was ice everywhere so I called American Home Shield. The only problem I had was that it took so long for them to send somebody here. Originally when I called they said, "You're going to hear from him within 24 hours". However, within 24 hours, I didn't hear anything. So I called the number of the contractor. They didn't even answer the phone and the recording said, "No one is here to take your call". That's not encouraging at all.
So I called American Home Shield and told them what happened. They called the number and they got the same thing. She said, "If they don't answer us within 24 hours, we're going to take a different action". So 24 hours went by, it's two days now, and then they said, "Who would you like us to call?" I said, "Well, how about Sears? You've always sent Sears before and they've done a good job". And she said, "Well, Sears is packed up and they won't be able to be there for like a week or so". I said, "Then that's not good". I said, "This is a GE product. Do you have anybody with GE?" And they said "Yes". So they got a guy from GE. It took a day for this whole thing to congeal and they sent him.
When this guy walked in the door, he took one look at this thing, knew exactly what the problem was, and had it fixed in less than an hour with no problem at all. He was polite, friendly and I was very happy with him. Eventually, they got their act together, got the right person here, and he did a wonderful job. I told them, "You know, what if this was my heating system and it was the dead of winter, how long will I have to wait for you to send somebody?" And I got sympathy from them but that was about it. It wasn't the end of the world. It's just an ice maker and it's working fine now. I'm going to sign up with American Home Shield again and give them another shot because in the long run, it's cheaper to get AHS to send somebody than it is to call the repair service and have them come here. They're going to charge a lot more money.

I had a leak. I did not know exactly if it was coming from the toilet or from a pipe in the basement. So I had called a guy from American Home Shield who did my earlier claim, which was another leak under the kitchen sink, and asked him to come back. And he said "Well you'll need to call this in because its in a different area." So that's what I did. He initially made contact with me and he said "I'll try to get there by this week." I called on a Thursday and then he said "I'll try to be there by Monday." He didn't call me back on Monday so I kept calling the office number and I spoke to a little girl. I don't know if it's his daughter or secretary or whatever. But she said "Well he's gonna be really busy this week. He's not gonna be able to come, so I'll get up and then find out when he can come." And I said "Okay fine."
And then I waited until Thursday of that week and I called back to his office number and I said "When do you think hell be able to come?" She said "Well he's really, really backed up so probably it's not gonna be until sometime next week." So I said "Can you tell me what day it might be? Cause I do have something going on on Tuesdays and Thursdays." She said "I really don't know. I have to ask him when he'll be back." He eventually did, after me calling again another time on Monday or Tuesday this week, calling the office again and really putting her on the spot. I said "Look, let me know what's up with this. If he's not able to do it, just let me know. I can understand that." And she said "I'll definitely let you know what day he can come but it will be 5:00 this afternoon at least." So he did call me in the afternoon about 4:00 and let me know he wasn't coming.
My issue with all this has been that I don't mind if people have pressing work. I understand that. They're not always able to get to the job. But if they had just called me every couple of days to say they would be unable to come, then that's fine with me. As long as I'm not having a flood in the basement, I can handle it with a bucket. That's okay with me. I dont mind that. Just communicate with me and let me know. And then if I can't deal with their plans, then that gives me an opportunity to call American Home Shield back and try to get somebody else.
I've never had this happen before with anybody that's worked on my house from American Home Shield. I think I've only had like four or five claims in ten years, and every one of them has been an excellent outcome. They've called me right away. Like for a heating problem, they needed to come and they were there in 24 hours. They worked it out. We had the problem solved in two or three days. And that's fine with me. It's always been a good experience.
And this gentleman that I filed a claim to is an earnest gentleman. He does his work. I think he's just kind of over-booked. And he did a lot of extra work for me. I spent a great deal of money because there were other things that he felt needed to be addressed and I agreed with him. I thought they needed to be addressed. He did do that work and so far it's been satisfactory. But I feel like if they're going to go that extra mile and do extra work for somebody and charge them the going rate for that, then when the customer has another different problem in the future, they should be even more responsive to that customer because that customer has paid them that money.
I'm not able to use the toilet till 5:00 tonight because he wanted to let the seal that he put around it and the caulking settle and harden up. The major problem that caused the leak was the toilet was not level and it was rocking back and forth. He said something was broken and because of that, the toilet was moving. As far as I know its probably gonna be okay. I really wouldn't know until tomorrow whether it was perfect or not. I really wouldn't know because I'm not gonna use it until that's been fixed.
I would say that overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been worth recommending. I've never experienced this problem before. This is like a one-shot deal. So I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to a friend and I do recommend it to my friends. I think if you're buying a new house, you're crazy if you don't get it. I pay a considerable amount of money for American Home Shield but it's always there when I need it. And as a single person who's not very handy, it's well worth the money.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was when they changed out my gas furnace. You call them and they set up the company that's gonna come out and service you. And then that company follows back up and makes the appointment. That's how it worked for me. I've had interactions with the contractor multiple times. Every time they've called me back within 30 minutes to set up the contract. And every time they sent anybody out, they've just been outstanding. They make sure they don't make a mess in your place. They get right to it. Then they explain everything that needs to be done. They explain to you what's covered, what might be an exception to being covered, if there's an exception.
They have a rep from AHS call you back and explain the deal to make sure you understand it before you do any more. They are always on schedule and have always been great. I stand behind them. We're selling our home but when we buy our next home, we'll have them again. We've had three or four homes with AHS. We don't even consider anybody else because the service has been so good with them.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield had to do with a clothes washer and dryer. If there was an issue, it's never been a problem getting them to come back and follow the steps of the contract. They've honored to the letter of it, so I've no complaints with American Home Shield. As a matter of fact, my two daughters are both using American Home Shield.
The technicians will work with us and give us suggestions for other things or how to avoid issues or things to watch out for with different types of appliances or equipment. I had put in a request on 10/28/15 for a slow water-leak from a water-softener. The plumbing company was supposed to contact me within 24 hours but did not. I called them subsequently and they came out and ordered some PVC parts and corrected the problem within 2 weeks of the initial call -- not acceptable to me. I had to call AHS customer service to email them in the interim as the plumber would not return my calls.
24 hours after the repair job, the water-softener started leaking and I called the plumber again and was told to call AHS for a new dispatch. The leak was from the new PVCs that the incompetent plumber had installed; AHS sent a dispatch to the same plumber. The PVC pipe broke and within 3 hours the water was flowing like a fountain in the garage. I switched the main off and called AHS and was unable to get any help. They said that the plumber should call me within 24 hours and that they could not guarantee if anyone would call me in the AM.
After going back and forth, the supervisor agreed to leave a msg. for the plumber that the leak had worsened. Next day was a Saturday and no one followed thru or called to come and rectify the problem. I have since corrected the leak by calling an emergency plumber and paying out of pocket. I will be filing a complaint separately against the plumbing company. I will cut my ties with AHS. The Representatives that I have talked to are unhelpful. They are not willing to make exceptions to pay someone to come in on a weekend or in the case of emergency. They do not follow-up with a customer as me and do not care about the quality as well speed of service. The quality of the contractors that I have used for electrical, plumbing and A/C has been below par.
I have sent emails to AHS making them aware of the above but have had no acknowledgement. I believe that the contractors in my area do not give priority to working with AHS. I believe a homeowner should be made aware of the problems that they may encounter with AHS.
Hello Hardeep, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. I will assign a case manager to contact you regarding this matter.

For the most part American Home Shield has been good. The only thing is when we used to live in Florida, when they come I have to give them a payment. But like in Florida it was so much less and it seems every year it goes up and up. It's now up to sixty dollars just for them to show up. That's expensive compared to Florida, I would just pay the fee for the year and it wouldn't cost me anything, but it wasn't American Home Shield though. For the most part we're satisfied other than the initial fee that American Home Shield charge. That price keeps going up. It's worth it as far as my air conditioning unit goes out. That's why we have it.

The handle on our dishwasher broke on 10/26/15. American Home Shield was notified that day. On 10/28 a technician from Ramb came and said he needed to order a part for that model (even though we gave the model make online with the service request...not sure how he didn't understand that). We offered our co-pay and he said he would collect it when the part came in. 5 days went by, no part, no repair, but instead a phone call from Ramb lecturing me on what a co-pay is and I had to pay them now or they would not finish the job. I said I would pay when they came back, as I had agreed to so and the technician turned it down. The woman on the other end of the phone said "Oh, you are canceling the job? Fine." and hung up on me. I called American Home Shield to report the vendor. They didn't seem to care. AHS finally agreed we could pay when the technician returned.
Several days later, still no call from anyone. Called AHS again. Was told the part just got ordered a few days ago, that the technician waited several days to order the part. I wanted another vendor but AHS said they would not allow that since the part was already ordered, but waived the service fee. On November 11 (going on the third week) Ramb leaves a message to schedule an appointment. We try multiple times to call back and the line is always busy. Finally on 11/12, we reach someone at Ramb and they say they are backed up and we will need to wait at least a week until 11/19 or 11/20 to have the part installed. I called back AHS, and they were no help, making excuses for this incompetent and arrogant vendor that they forced us.
It will be over 3 weeks, if they even show, to get a door latch on a dishwasher replaced, and American Home Shield and their people could not care less. I expect a much different level of service for what we pay these people; if they were truthful in their advertising, no one would sign up if they said, "we might get around to your stuff in 3 or 4 weeks with the vendor of our choosing." Can anyone recommend a better home warranty service? Because once this dude shows up, we plan to terminate our nearly 10 year relationship with AHS. This has not been the first time we have difficulty with their poor choices in vendors.
Hi Rich, I am sorry to hear about this experience. Our records show that the work has been completed. I do apologize for the delay and ask that if you are still in need of assistance please let me know! Thanks! ^CW

I have been a customer with AHS for 10 years and have multiple properties covered with them. In early September, I called for service on my AC that was leaking. Long story short, it took 2 months to resolve. Why? I have spent about 30 hours on the phone with AHS trying to figure out what happened, among other things the following happened:
1) AHS communicated the wrong information to the tech. 2) When I called and accepted out of pocket fees, they marked I did not 3) The unit sat in the warehouse for 3 weeks despite the vendor and I calling in multiple times. 4) When I had my file sent to Research, they rejected it on 2 different occasions because they were not reading the notes. By the way, Research never contacted me to tell me it was rejected. I had to call in to discover this. 5) When I would talk to the reps they would tell me information that conflicted with the vendor. 6) When I talked to the reps, I would get a different answer from every rep and they would ask me to replicate steps I had already completed. 7) I talked to 2 supervisors who acted like I wasted their time and told me nothing was wrong. 8) And I was told my entire AC unit was being replaced. I did not find out until the day of the install, it was just the furnace.
This was the most appalling customer service case I have ever seen. Every time I called in, the rep marked and recorded the incorrect information, causing further delays. The property is a rental and I had to discount the tenant's rent out of my own pocket. The worst part: no one will talk with me about how this claim was handled. I have no choice but to complain here in a review because the last time I asked for a call and for resolution was almost 2 weeks ago and no one has called me.
Please note: I have been waiting on a receipt from AHS for the $75 trade fee for 2 months. I have ordered it be sent three times (I paid AHS directly). I emailed AHS a month ago to make various changes on my account. The email was never returned and the changes not made. I am currently shopping other warranty companies so that I can transfer my current and future business elsewhere.

We bought a house and it had American Home Warranty with it. One problem that we noticed was the sink was wet and water was coming out from underneath it. We thought that was the dishwasher which is built in right next to it. I went online and searched for a plumber or something of that nature but it didn't have that feature on the website. It had what the problem was so I put leak. They came out, it wasn't the dishwasher. It was our water softener and the reverse osmosis. A guy came and I still had to pay him $75. He did look at the dishwasher and said it wasn't leaking so I guess he did what he's supposed to anyway.
The second time, it was the leak in the basement where the drain pipes were like a hole. It goes down to the floor. There's drain from the washing machine, then a couple other holes as it goes down to there from the whole house water softener, down to the bottom like it rusted out. So I called - I went online, did it again. But it didn't even have a little box to where I could type in there and say, "It's the pipe in the basement where the main drain is or something like that that would distinguish between that and the leak underneath the sink." But then all the people came out. They fixed it. It's not leaking downstairs anymore. We signed up for another year and after this one expires. We appreciated the quick response from both American Home Shield Warranty and the plumbing. They were reliable and professional in how they handle the call, the response and they get it out.

I had a problem with my air conditioner and so I went to AHS' online service order system to submit a claim which was very easy. I like the online feature but I would like AHS to give a specified area to put additional details regarding the problem - which part of the air conditioner, what problems the customer is having - to give the vendor an opportunity to assess what the problem really is. The contractor came and made an assessment, scheduled the time for the type of work that they needed to do and how to do it. They explained and troubleshoot what I needed to make the system operational until then. They came back and repaired what needed to be repaired. Since the repair, the air conditioner has been working good and had no problems. Overall, it's been a very good experience with AHS.

We’ve been with American Home Shield for 12 years. I never had a problem since there’s always a follow through, and that’s why we keep renewing. I call AHS, they notify a contractor, give me a call and schedule a time. The contractor comes out and knows beforehand the problem since American Home Shield tells them what it is. If the repair needs to have a part, they say it needs to have one and come back and fix it. I’d recommend them.

Request made: 10/29/15. UNRESOLVED 11/10/15. Continuously start with whomever answers the phone. For the first week they assured me there was NO one else I could talk to. At the end of that week I find it can be expedited to a supervisor. However, no supervisor can do anything since the departments are not connected. So I am to just wait for a call. Now near 2 weeks without a stove or refrigerator because this is being investigated with no end date! 10/31 - Carolina Appliance came to my home. Said I need a new compressor for the refrigerator, said I needed a new heating element for the stove - BOTH unable to use!!! Stated he would order Monday and be back Tues or Wed. AHS states on an email if a part has to be ordered, AHS and our service contractors will proactively provide a follow-up visit!!!
11/3/15 - SPOKE TO AHS rep Shanece. Called the contractor, and said his # was disconnected. I was told by Shanece that she was sending to contractor relations. I could not speak with a supervisor - I had to wait 24 hours. 11/4/15 - Noon: On my lunch hour - SPOKE TO AHS Rep Tierra. Called the contractor, no answer. I told her I'd called 12 x since Monday! Told by Tierra that nothing to do but that she submit a contractor relations request. I could not speak with a supervisor - I had to wait 24 hours. 5 pm: SPOKE TO AHS REP VERONICA. Called the contractor, no answer. I told her I'd called 12 x since Monday! Told by Veronica nothing to do but that SHE (3rd time I'm told, yet never done) submit a contractor relations request. I could not speak with a supervisor - had to wait 24 hours.
11/5/15 - Noon: On my lunch hour SPOKE TO AHS REP ELENORE. Elenore - This is the ONLY rep who ask me "what I was doing this long without a refrigerator" - that I could get a rental for $150 until I could get this resolved, that she would expedite to a supervisor who would call me back. Never heard from anyone!!!
11/6/15 - NO refrigerator. All food lost. NO one returning my call requesting expedite to a supervisor. SPOKE TO AHS REP RYAN; Said unable to get a supervisor, one would call me back TODAY. I could have $60 in credit to a rental refrigerator (not the $150). No mention of $ toward having a stove! Had a return call from supervisor Jaquonta. You should receive a call from Contract relations today, latest Monday. Nothing more he can do. 11/10/15 - called customer service. All they can do is give me to a supervisor, but won't guarantee they can get one. On hold for 20 minutes - said contractor relations was contacted, don't know why they are not responding, but nothing they can do.

But we had to wait for them to call us and it took a while for them to call us and then they couldn't come out in a timely manner so we had to call Home Shield back. They gave us number for somebody else then a lot of waiting, calling back and forth waiting for them to call.

AHS said that per the contract that the HVAC had to be in working order so a diagnoses can be made. When got AHS they got a copy of the inspection report and said everything looking fine to them. When the HVAC repair guy came out he said that the unit was not able to be diagnosed because the transformer he but in keeper blowing out and was needing replaced once the power to the unit was on.
The repair man told AHS that the unit was dismantled and he did not think it was working for over a year. Which is an outright lie, since the inspection report that was give to AHS state the unit is working properly at the time of inspection. And I had been using the unit to cool the house for two months before the problem started. Was told by AHS that I would have to fix the problem, and have the unit diagnosed before they could cover anything. Or I can get a second opinion by a AHS company and pay another fee. But they would stick by the ruling of the first guy because after looking there is not another company in my area and they sent the first guy 3.5 hr out of his way.
Hi Lee, I am sorry to hear about this experience. Our records do show that you did get the 2nd opinion and the work was authorized to be completed. Please let me know if I can be of any other assistance. Thanks! ^CW

I've only had one claim with AHS and that was the stoppage in the sink. Submitting the claim didn't go so well, but when I finally got a vendor, it was smooth sailing. The contractor they sent was excellent. He arrived on time, did what he was supposed to do and he was out. He explained what he did and told us what he thought the issue was and told us how far down he had to go to pull the stoppage or blockage. So far, so good and I've had no problems after the repair.
However, sometimes I have the difficulty in the wait time. Some of the contractors call back in a day, but some of them takes three days. Sometimes the people that they gave me said that they were booked up for three days. If you have a blockage in your sink, three days is a long time to hear from someone and I didn't have the option to wait. That's my only complaint. Other than that, when I called back and told AHS I needed somebody else and I couldn't wait another day on these people, they gave me another vendor and he was here the next day.

I've been with American Home Shield for at least two years. I've had another company before but then I went back to American Home Shield because they're the only people who are consistent, reliable and know what they're doing. Before, I had to have my air conditioning unit and heating unit replaced and they paid out the whole thing. I got four years’ worth of money back just for that. They never even hesitated. Then recently, my claim was for the heating system. I turned my thermostat on from summer to cold, from hot from cold, and the thing wouldn’t come on. It just ran for a few seconds and shut off. So I called AHS and the next day I got contacted by an electrician who came out, showed me where the problem was, and fixed it.
I would recommend American Home Shield more than anybody. I’ve had experiences with other companies and, they can’t hold a candle to AHS. They’re the best of the best. I don’t care what anybody says. You can call them anytime, anywhere. They’re ready and they’ve never disappointed me. When they say within 24 hours somebody will call, and in 24 hours they do. They’re a little "spendy" but that’s because they’re good, reliable and dependable. They’re not some fly-by-night people. So you pay for what you get and I pay about $550 a year, and I got a $100 deductible. But it only takes one major problem and that wipes that all out real quick.
