All went good with my experience with American Home Shield. My most recent claim was a part of an air conditioning unit and it went very well. The contractors sent have always been professional and courteous and we've always had good interactions with them. And since the repair, it's back 100% like it's supposed to be. I would recommend them to a friend.

I had a problem with my garbage disposal. I had tried everything that I could possibly think of and decided that I had to have a professional look at it. So I called it in to American Home Shield. Their representatives are always very nice and helpful to me. I've never had a complaint with them and I've been with them for many years. The contractor was very professional, knew exactly what he was doing, had everything in order and back working within 15 minutes of his arrival. Overall, my experience with them has been excellent and I've recommended them to two of friends that are now with American Home Shield.

In the process of getting everything ready when we were selling our house, we found out that there was an issue with our double oven and we called American Home Shield to come and take a look at it and they could not fix it. One of the things I liked about American Home Shield is if they can't fix it, then they will either replace it completely or provide a certain amount of what the cost would be for a new appliance and American Home Shield ended up replacing my double oven completely. We talked to them and started to process, but the actual installation happened after a week we left the house. So the new owners got a new double oven. We've been American Home Shield for a long time and this is the third appliance they have replaced. We've always have a real positive experience with them.

My biggest complaint about American Home Shield is when I need them I have to wait two or three days. And back in the summer my air conditioner went out and I had to wait about three days. I have a heart condition and it about did me in. If they don't have enough people to come by the next day, they need to hire some help. But everybody's real nice. They come and it just takes them too long to come. If my air conditioner is out in the summer time, I need somebody that day or the next day at least. Or if my heat's out at night or during the day in the wintertime, I need somebody out. I had to wait to get my washing machine fixed about a week or more. And that's just to me unacceptable. They need more help. But I'm not dissatisfied with them.

I like American Home Shield because they always come out and do just what they say they'll do. They fix whatever there is to be fixed and they charge a flat rate and the service people are always very courteous and efficient. They choose people who can get the job done, so I'm happy with them. When I submit a claim, I call them and within 24 hours they have the repairmen call in. The last time the repairman came out and he couldn't fix my washing machine because it had to have a special part. He did not charge me until he came out with the part and fixed it. Moreover, their technicians always do their job well. My daughter has had a lot of experience with electrical. They had to come out for different things and she's always replaced too, but mine has just been the washing machine and in the past my air conditioner.

There was a continuing problem with the air conditioner and it's been corrected now. There were also no problems submitting the claim ever. Their representatives are always very knowledgeable. They take care of us right away. We only had one time and their system was down, and we couldn't get through. Other than that we've never had a major problem getting through to them. Also, most of the contractors are very friendly and professional. They seem to know what they're doing. I've never had any kind of problem with any of their contractors, and I've been with American Home Shield for almost 20 years.

My most recent claim was for a gas valve on the water heater. Submitting the claim was perfect. It was easy over the phone. They scheduled 48 hours after the service request was made but they just gave me a quote or looked at the water heater. I'm still following up with them because there's a piece that they have to replace and they still have not given me an ETA on when the piece is gonna be replaced. However, based on my overall experience, I would recommend them.

I've had American Home Shield for more than five years and have had very good experience. The persons that have been sent were very good. Recently I had a problem with my hot water and didn't have hot water in one of my bathrooms. The contractor came and repaired it. But the price is a little too much and sometimes it takes a while to get through when I call because of the automated stuff. However, it is a safety net to know that I can pick up the phone or email if I have a problem and I don't have to go look in the Yellow Pages.

I had a dripping faucet in my bathroom and a shaking commode, and submitting the claim with American Home Shield was very easy. The two guys that came to my house were absolutely fabulous. They went over and above what might have been expected of them. One of them even did a lot of caulking with some things in my bathroom which I don't even know if he was supposed to, but he did. Also, it was lunchtime and I tried to give them money to get lunch when they left my house because I was so impressed with what they had done for me. I tried three times, but they absolutely would not take the money. They were great and everything's perfect since the repair. I'm very pleased, and I'd recommend them.

One of my recent claims for Home Shield was when the water did not go down in the kitchen and in the basement. I called that in. I'm not that good with the computer so I call in when I have a problem. The representative was very good and helpful. They had to get a plumber over to the rental property where the problem was. I really like AHS a lot but it took a little while for the plumber get back to us. But other than that, once they got to the plumbers they were very efficient. I would recommend them, but when I do call in a claim, being that it’s a rental, I need to have it taken care of right away.

The spring broke in our garage door and we had to have it replaced. American Home Shield came out and assessed it and we got approval and instead of going with that, we went ahead and had the whole system replaced, but it gave us a good discount. What probably would cost $1000, it cost $800 to do. The submission of the claim was easy. However, there's a problem with the plumber. I don't know why it took us a couple of tries to get somebody out here, but they were fast and they pretty much knew what they were doing. Also, the contractors sent were awesome and they work out really well. They were very knowledgeable in what they were doing especially the guy with the garage door. I would recommend them to a friend.

I called American Home Shield for some plumbing issues. The experience submitting the claim was fairly easy and painless. However, it took a while for them to repair all the damages, all the problems. But otherwise, it was really easy to submit the claim. The contractor was okay. They came out. They had to get with a different company because they didn't have all the tools that they needed to fix my plumbing problem, that took a minute. And to get the part needed took a while as well. I've never had any issues with them and it's always been a really great, excellent service. Besides last time, I was not very happy due to the length of time I had to wait and they're telling me I owe an outstanding balance. But in the past they've really provided great service.

My most recent claim with AHS was because the hoses of my water heater were leaking. Submitting the claim went great. AHS scheduled it and it happened very efficiently and professionally. The contractor they sent explained everything he was doing, everything he found, and he repaired the two lines that were leaking and went beyond that. There were two other lines that looked like they may start to leak. He went ahead and replaced those as well. The water heater has been fantastic ever since he did the repair.

Expert Pools was the contractor and they contacted me quickly. We scheduled a time for the very next work day and they came although they couldn’t fix it because they needed a part that day. They came back the next day and had me up and running. With AHS, I get great value for the money - a quick response by contractors and quality work.

I had a very good experience with American Home Shield. I had a pipe leaking and the guy came in and fixed it. Usually submitting a claim is easy, but it can be difficult because they make you wait so long sometimes. We usually submit a claim by phone rather than online. Its not difficult once you get somebody. The contractor they sent was a real nice guy. They came in and diagnosed the problem right away, and went on and fixed it. I was surprised, though. I think it was a Friday afternoon when we discovered the problem and we called American Home Shield. And the contractor was out probably within the hour to take care of the repairs. Everything worked out real well because I wasn't expecting to get it in one schedule until the following Monday because it was kind of late Friday when we called. Overall, they're excellent.

Everything has gone well the few times that we've had to use American Home Shield. I have no complaints. In our most recent claim we had some plumbing issues, a couple of toilets that weren't flushing correctly. The tech was great. He came out and explained everything he was doing, did the job and was gone. He actually had to call in and get authorization because there was a part that had to be purchased. He left, took him about an hour to get back but once he's back everything was done quickly. Since the repair, the toilets are working 100%. I've recommended American Home Shield to several people.

The performance since the repair has been excellent, I've had no problems since then. I was impressed because usually companies don't have a response so quick. I had my first not so great experience with a contractor a few months ago. It was a plumber. We had a leak and the plumber just kicked in the whole wall in no particular form. Then we called the contractor 7 or 8 times and never got a call back. My wife finally reached him a month later. They said that the guy who was supposed to do it had fallen off the ladder and died. I don't know if that's true or not, and we felt bad so we didn't say anything for 2 months.
I called American Home Shield last week and told them what had happened. They called them back out and someone came out and patched the wall. It wasn't great but I didn't quite understand what the details of that service were. It wasn't spackled right and it's uneven. I don’t do that kind of work so I’m not sure what to expect or not. I’m definitely going to have to re-spackle, sand, and taint it. But at least I don't have a leaking plumbing issue. Other than that, I recently had a claim for a garbage disposal and the claim submission was easy. American Home Shield is the best service I've ever owned. I'd absolutely recommend them.

I sent a claim with American Home Shield to repair a washer. The representatives who came out have been good. I've had AHS for probably over 15 years. There's been a couple times that I sent the contractors back. I called Home Shield and they sent somebody else out. The new contractors took care of the repair. Even on this last claim. They were gonna have me waiting a week before they could come look at my washer. And this was with the Sears, which you would think that they'd have enough people to send somebody out there. They didn't have resources. So I called Home Shield back, "I cant wait a week." And they said, "No problem." And they got somebody else who came out in a day and a half. I've always had pretty good people. One time, I've had a plumber that didn't do it as well as he probably should. AHS gave me back my upfront money I had to pay. My most recent experience was a follow-up call from Heating and Air Supply which they were doing a winterization on my heating and air conditioning. It was part of the initial service contract that they did this summer when they replaced one of my air conditioning units. So they came out to the house and they needed to put it on record with American Home Shield. American Home Shield refused to do so because they didn't schedule the call and they did not recognize that it was part of my initial contract. So the person had to call back and speak to someone higher up and got it done. They got it taken care of. The representatives are pretty friendly and helpful and I think its a good service.

My most recent claim with AHS was frustrating because we couldn’t get an appliance looked at early on and we had a commitment to go away for two weeks. We had to postpone having it started until we got back at which point we were under some more pressure because my mother’s last sister died in New York so we had to go up for a funeral. We had to try and squeeze it in between and we finally did get it but I am getting some noise out of the water pipe. I’ve never had it before, it just sounds like something got messed up over the last couple of weeks.
I haven’t had a chance to call American Home Shield. We just got back from New York and were just running here and there, trying to fill-in for all the missing appointments that we have to make up for. The contractor was out about a week ago last Tuesday. It was a matter of a faucet that was gushing like crazy so we had to shut the water off. When he came, he got it going. He advised us that every time we go out for a couple of days to shut the water off and we did while we went North and I noticed that as soon as we come back on Sunday that every time we flush the toilet, there’s a big gushing noise from that water pipe from the valve that we shut off which we turned back on. We’ll have to talk to a plumber to see whether there’s something that I can do easy enough or if it actually needs a plumber. I have no idea. But it’s all related because I never had anything like that before.

I recently submitted a claim to American Home Shield to have my heater fixed. The process was very easy. I would recommend them to a friend because they're extremely responsive. But I did not have a good experience with the contractor. They diagnosed that I needed a new computer board which was perfectly fine, but they said in order to do that, they needed to do some maintenance on the heater which I agreed to. It was $240 and they said that we needed to change the filter, and I questioned the technician on multiple times, "Isnt that inclusive of the $240 maintenance fee?" And he just wouldnt answer me, so before he left, I called his office and asked them the same question and they said that it was not part of the routine maintenance. And I said, "Okay, well, Ill let American Home Shield know that I think its ridiculous that the most basic heater maintenance is not being performed as part of that fee."
I wrote a similar comment on the sales receipt. I did receive a callback from the office and they indicated that they were going to make an exception and send the technician back at a later time to change the filter, which they did the following Monday. The difference in descriptions from the technician and the office as to why it wasnt included: the office just simply said it was not part of the maintenance. The technician said that he doesnt drive around with a variety of heater filters, and then when he came to replace it, he used a cut-to-fit filter which eliminates the whole problem to have multiple filters. The cost of the maintenance itself that such a basic thing wasnt included, that made me dissatisfied, and the fact that I had to be available on multiple occasions to have the work done.

The contractors are great because they'll call you and ask you when you want them to come. If it's something urgent, they'll come soon.
They do not switch contractors, they have the same people come. I like the guy they sent. He immediately knew what the problem was, had the part that needed replacing, and fixed it. I asked the contractor specifically to put it as a rush request because the smoke detector had been beeping for a week and it’s driving me nuts. I could reset and shut it down for a couple of hours and that’s it. And I haven’t been able to sleep as I kept on doing that. Then they said the earliest they could give me was Wednesday morning, from 8:30-11:30 window period.
So they sent out a guy who, according to him, was lost because he was given wrong directions. It was quarter until 12 that he came and was not in the window period. He finally fixed the problem but I was very upset about the whole thing and on top of that I had to pay the $100 deductible. It hasn’t been a very good experience, overall. They have a very poor customer service so they got a disappointed customer right now.

It needed a part that could be purchased downtown in Charlotte, but apparently American Home Shield had an arrangement with a their own distributor so I had to wait two weeks without heat. I complained to an AHS supervisor and was told that there was nothing AHS could do, other than pay for a space heater (under a $100), if I wanted to purchase one. Our house is over 3000 square feet. I explained this, but to no avail.
This year I had a problem with a leaking refrigerator. They assigned a GE contractor to look at it. Three days later, after leaving a message with the GE contractor (the contractor only has an answering service) GE didn't show. I called AHS and they assigned another contractor, and when I asked if they could talk to the contractor to see if the service could be expedited, I got an affirmative no. So, it looks like it will take 5 days to look at my refrigerator, and then it's anyone's guess how long to fix it. AHS needs to think seriously about customer service.
From an outsider's view, the company is poorly managed. With a call from AHS to a local distributor the heating problem last year could have been immediately addressed, and it really wouldn't have cost the company that much more. And it would have been the right thing to do to please a "valued customer," to use AHS's words. And this year, a simple call to the GE contractor about not contacting a client would have been the way to handle things, but their policy is to simply assign a new contractor without any follow through with the GE contractor (at least that was my take on it). Then I was told they could not give the new contractor a call to explain that their customer has been waiting three days for service and AHS would appreciate it if they could get a service person out as soon as possible. It just seems no one is running the show at AHS, other than their computers and their robot-like staff who simply deliver pat answers.

I'm frustrated with American Home Shield because some of their agents were very rude. My claim with them regarding my faucet and sink has not yet been resolved and the lady I talked to this morning told me they cancelled my claim but I did not request for cancellation. They do not communicate very well and they insisted that if another contractor will come, I'll pay another fee but the company told me before that if it's the same issue then we don't have to pay additional. We already paid for this since the first time they came. And they were not attentive to our claim. The last guy who came told me the sink was leaking instead of the faucet. So he recommended us to use a clear glue to put around the sink. After we did that, the sink is no longer leaking. But the problem is the faucet which is loose and causing the leak.
They called two different companies and sent out three technicians already. One technician said that because the faucet has been leaking for a long, long time, the piece of wood underneath it rot and it this has to be replaced to stabilize the faucet but AHS would not cover the whole thing. They will only work on the leaking situation. They cannot just mess up on one thing and not fix the other one. It doesn't make sense to me.

I called American Home Shield because I had a plumbing problem, and a plumbing company came out in a day or two after I made the phone call. The contractor they sent was very polite. He told me that it was a team community problem with the backup and the drainage system for the city, so I really didn't have to do anything. I still had to pay the $100 service fee which was in the contract, so I had to bite the bullet on that, but I was pleased with the overall service. They're on top of their game, and I'd definitely recommend them.

I had an indicator light on my stove that kept on saying that there was a burner on when there wasn't. I called American Home Shield. I live in a small town and there's not much choice on who they send out. I've had other service calls before so out of the three people that they had available to do the service, two of them I'd already experienced negative stuff with, option number three was Mr. Appliance of Yuma. They were great! They came out, put a part in and fixed it right then and there. I didn't have to wait. But then about three weeks later, it came on again and did the same thing. Called it in the second time, Mr. Appliance came out and fixed it again. It was some little wire that got loose. It's functioning great now.
American Home Shield was quick about the claim. Though the first time I called, the girl didn't call the service provider to schedule the appointment so I ended up doing it. I thought, why am I paying for the warranty if I’m going to have to be the one calling to make the appointment? I didn't like that. But compared to the one I had last year when my washing machine was on the fritz, this is great. Everything went well.

I have an older house so I have to use American Home Shield a lot. I've got a current claim with AHS that is in the process of being done and then one that had recently gotten finished. They're very good as far as it goes though I'm a little concerned about the one that's coming up because they have to replace my double oven that's broken and they can't find the parts to fix it. So they have to replace it. Once they have found something to replace it, it doesn't fit where the other one goes. And they're supposed to install it. It's pretty minor what has to be done, but they should do 100% of the job.
This is the first time I haven't been totally pleased that they're not doing what they say they do. They say if something can't be replaced as well as its parts, they will install a new piece. Since they can't install in a space that is 12 inches smaller than what they were replacing with, I've got to find a person that will cut the space and I'm not going to have the space cut until the oven is out. Instead of doing the entire job, I'd have to get a construction person to do part of the job for them to do the rest of the job.
But then on the other hand, I had an issue with my garage door recently and it was handled extremely well. So overall it's about yin and yang. As far as the oven goes, I'm going to have to coordinate having them at the same time that I have a construction person here. Coordinating it all is going to be quite a challenge. AHS could easily be in partnership with some construction person as it would be a much better customer service. But overall I would recommend AHS as they've been very helpful. I'll tell people all about them especially people with older homes.

My wife made a claim 2 weeks ago. American Home Shield refused because it was a garage door motor that wasn’t working. I took off the cover to see if there’s a reset switch or anything. And because I took off the cover, they said they would not cover the claim. The technician did nothing except come out to the house, said: “Oh, you took the cover off. Therefore, it’s not covered.” He charges me $350 for a new motor, which included the installation. If I’d have called him direct, it would only cost me $350. But yet, American Shield went ahead and took my hundred dollars also. I wouldn’t mind if the guy came out and said it’s not covered and tell me what it cost to buy and install a new one and I had to pay them. But to charge me the hundred-dollar premium, I think was just a little bit cheap on their part. They double-dipped on me. I’m very unhappy.
Hello William, I am sorry to hear that the claim was denied. The service fee would be due to still for the technician to come out and diagnosis the claim. I am sorry for the confusion and the tech not telling you that. Thanks! ^CW

American Home Shield is very reliable, good and cost effective. The recent claim I did has to do with the garage door opener in my house and the service was great. I’ve been using them for 20 years and I just had one bad experience. It was with my air conditioning. Repair guys were going to be at my house before I was going to be there and they weren’t going to wait for five minutes, so the whole thing was cancelled. I called American Home Shield to rebook somebody else and they gave me the same guys again. I said I don’t want them again. Then I threatened to leave American Home Shield and said "I’m not going to do business with you" and they said fine. I couldn’t believe it. But majority of my experience with them has been very good.

We're insured with American Home Shield on multiple properties. Our most recent claim with them was with the dishwasher on our own home. At first we weren't sure where the water was coming from so it was a plumbing issue we've got and then the plumber came through American Home Shield. The plumber said, "No, it's not through plumbing. It's the unit itself." So we got another copay, which is very good. They're very nice and fair, and they determined the dishwasher is not repairable and the tank is burned out. So they retired it.
It took a while because we had work done in the kitchen at the same time. It was ordered in April and that was decided, and they offered us what we could get online for a replacement. We thought, "Yeah, maybe we could go to the stores to look at it," because we could only look at it at the website and they were very good. They gave us a number where we have to target. We went under that and they said it was fine. The only issue we had was the vendor that they work with who said, "We'll have it delivered to your home and install it." But when the installers came, they said it didn't fit and they just took off.
In the meantime, we had some work to be done. We had a contractor doing the kitchen to get everything back together. We also had the City of Hercules coming over to give us an agreement saying that the work is complete and to sign off on all of the work with the city, the permit. That's when the contractor did it for us and my husband agreed to it because we were buying and we didn't know what to do. They installed it. The contractor bill is a lot less than what American Home Shield pays to put it in. They said they were covering it -- the unit and the replacement had to be through their vendor and we were fine with that. So then we ended up with a bad installer.
So the contractor that we had put it in. He is not a plumber but he's the lead contractor. He was very expensive. We ended up with a bill that is close to a thousand dollars for that, 825. American Home Shield escalated it and agreed to pay 125 and for the disposal of the unit, $50; 175, but we still had a large bill to pay the other contractor.
I'm also a real estate broker, and I put a policy in for American Home Shield every month for my clients because I'm very satisfied. We're good, and the National Account Manager and is very good to me. All of his people are very good. Sometimes it breaks down, but it's not their fault. I also have Pam from the sales team calling me before I renew my policy. Pam is very nice and calls me when the policy is almost coming up to review what we have, and we add or take away in some of the coverage that I don't need any more before we do renew the policy for the next year.
So overall I cannot say anything bad about American Home Shield, only for the contractor that we worked with. Other than the contractor, every time I called on any of my condos (we have some rental assets), they are very good. Sometimes they don't have the right technician to come out and we have to go over there and wait. That is a hard thing to do, but now that we have a few policies with them, we ID the right technician, the very good ones, to come out. And it's working out. AHS has a very good service.

When I went online and submitted the claim, they called me back the same day and arranged for somebody to come within two days. It was pretty quick. They came out and checked it. The only thing that bothers me is I always try to tell them what the problem is so maybe they can save a trip 60 miles down the road and nobody ever wants to listen to me. They want to send somebody and then come back and check, then do take care of the problem. But they took care of it just fine.
The only negative thing is I want people to listen to what the problem is. It's like when I was trying to get my tankless water heater repaired. They need to know in advance that I have a tankless water heater, not after they send somebody out that's going to take one. That's the problem. So maybe it would be nice if when they sign people up, they find out what you have so that when they assign a service company they can say, "Oh, this person has a Whirlpool refrigerator and so I need to send somebody that's been trained in that." Maybe they don't want to know what we have, but it just makes sense to me.
But everybody was very pleasant. There wasn't any problem. They were here when they said they were going to be and they may have gotten either the message that I originally gave or when they were here I told them that there was an original metal pan because when they replaced it, they replaced the plastic one with metal. So, I was very happy. The performance since the repair was absolutely fine. I've recommended them to many people.

He made an operation by taking a cloth and towel and pushed it down in the throat where the ice could not fall all the way through and it blocked any air from going up in the ice maker and kept the frost down. He said if I leave that towel in there then I could lift up the reservoir and reach the top of it to get ice out. It'd be a little inconvenient but at least I could get ice while he was getting the piece mailed to him to repair it. Once he did that, I went ahead and paid him the $75 that I was supposed to pay. He ordered the part, told me he'd call me as soon as it got in and make an appointment to come back to put it on and that's exactly what he did. I was completely satisfied with AHS.

We had two claims with American Home Shield around the same time, and I've been talking to customer service by phone. We set up the plumber for the leaking master shower then I called back with the second claim because our kitchen sink fell in, and I was informed that the plumbing would be covered but not the sink. I ended up calling back a third time because when I was researching online trying to find someone to help with the kitchen sink, I found that the plumbing company that they had signed to come for the shower was badly rated. I called back to express my concern and they said, "It doesn't matter what other people say. These people are contracted with them and that's who you're going to get."
The company who did the master shower was fine. Despite the really bad ratings, I didn't have any hassle with the service man at all. The thing that was a little odd was he had to collect the $75 service fee before anything else. We had them come and do other things, they did all the repairs and then we pay the $75 at the end. This guy describes it as, “We collect the $75 first, we see what needs to be done, we have to call AHS, tell them what we found and get their permission to do the service.”
I am happy with them. They've been very good with the other stuff that we've had done. We bought the warranty through the realty company when we bought the house, and it sounded everything is going to be covered. I've paid a whole lot of money for this insurance and I have to admit I almost fell over when they told me the sink was not covered because the sink fell off. It's an under mounted sink and it fell off of the granite countertop that it was attached to. On Tuesday, I paid a plumber $650 to reattach it. I don't understand why a sink coming off of a counter would not be covered by a home warranty. That left a really bad taste in my mouth for the experience.

Sometimes it takes a few days to hear from the contractor through AHS but on this instance, I got contacted the next day. Then they took care of it and it has been good so far. The contractor was great and would probably hire them if we needed some other work done. It was a good experience.

The first time that we used American Home Shield was wonderful. They sent an air conditioning company and the guy who came was outstanding. The service was very professional. It was on time, if not even earlier. He resolved the problem very quickly and it was a pleasure dealing with him. For the second one however, we cancelled it because we resolved the problem ourselves. I recommended them to friends.

The toilet was stuck up so I submitted a claim with American Home Shield. I called and told them what the problem was, they put me on hold for just a couple of minutes to get someone to come out here, and they came back in the line with the phone number of the service representative. They told me that the service representative would call me within 24 hours to make an appointment, which they did. The contractors did a great job, and the performance of the toilet has been good since the repair. I have had several claims with AHS and all of them had been remedied. I'm very satisfied with the phone and service representatives - they did a good job.

I recently submitted a claim with AHS for a swimming pool and it is the first time that I've ever had a problem. The company that they sent out was horrible. Their office and customer service was awful. Something else happened to the pool and I had to get another company. American Home Shield and I didn't get along on this one because I requested a particular company that I knew was a service provider. Long story short, they sent JT Ultimate Pools, the company I originally wanted, and the pool was fixed with one visit. They were awesome. The guy explained so much to us and even told us how to take care of the pool better. He was wonderful, so I had no complaints with that company. Everything else has been good. Now, the pool is great! I love American Home Shield.

The most recent claim I had with American Home Shield was for a hot water heater that continues to go south. Submitting the claim is easy. Everybody's been nothing but nice, professional, responsive and listen to me complain for a little bit and then get on to fix the problem. So I got no issues with anybody that I've spoken with. I've had the same gentleman out twice and it'll probably be the same guy that comes out here tomorrow. He's thorough, he leaves no stone unturned. He's done everything possible to bring the hot water heater situation to resolution. Unfortunately, it's still not working correctly but no fault of his own. He's done everything he can. But the guy is always really respectful of our house, professional, nice, conversational and cracks a joke once in a bit. We like seeing him although we'd rather not but if we do, better it be somebody like him.
American Home Shield has been good to me at this point. They are prompt, professional and descriptive. They're very thorough in letting us know what they're doing. They've left the door open saying, "Hey, if there's any additional questions, just give us a call and we'll come back out." And when I've done that, they've all been like, "Hey, sorry it didn't work out the first time around. Let's dig into this again." So I have no complaints or issues. I would have no issue recommending them to somebody.

My disposal stopped working. I had gone to American Home Shield and they brought out a plumber. The plumber came and said, "It's not a plumbing problem. It's an electrical problem." He never opened it up and did anything. The electrician then was called through the company. The electrician came out and said, "Well, it was the vibration. It was at the bottom of the disposal, the wires had just come loose from vibration." He rewired it and it worked. The reason that I called in the first place was because there was liquid on the floor in the cabinet under the disposal, a considerable amount at the time. That's what caused the original call to the plumber. After the electrician left, I couldn't get it to drip anymore, so I called anyway. The plumbing company said, "Just watch it for a little bit."
Ironically today I was underneath there and all that moisture was back, so I called the plumbing company early this afternoon and they are coming tomorrow. So bottom line is I've gotten very good response. I haven't gotten the problem totally solved, but at least everyone is willing to work on it. The electrical part of it is fine. It's still dripping so I still have a problem, but hopefully will solve that.

My wife called American Home Shield to submit claims for a washing machine, a dishwasher, a stove, and a microwave. The guy from the appliance repair was very helpful and knowledgeable. He was very friendly and easy to get along with. He did what he said he was going to do. He was very professional, I'd get him again if I had to.
He was more than happy to help and gave us the reason when he couldn't do something. On the washer, he said American Home Shield would probably deny it because it wasn't totally broken. The problem had to do with the transmission, and the machine was making a lot of noise. I don't agree with it, but it is the way it is. He also showed us some things on the dishwasher that made the difference. We were concerned that things weren't getting cleaned. He pointed out that since our water heater was upstairs, we run the water first and make sure we click on hot water. That made some difference. He also detected the problem on the microwave and the stove which he fixed, and we haven't had any problems then. Else, I wouldn't use their service that I did.

I couldn't put in both claims because it wouldn't let me do that. So I just went with the plumber and got the sink unplugged and that was better. The contractor they sent was really nice, really good. He was very thorough and fixed things. Since the repair, I think I may have to have somebody come out in another month if my sink doesn't start acting better. I don't know if it's something I'm doing or the garbage disposal is not working right or what, but it's still draining now. We tested it when he was here but something else must be going on. The contractor called and said, "Well, I got good news and bad news. Bad news is you still have the service charge and the good news is there is no leak coming through the ceiling." That's what we got for $75. I made the repair instead. I bought a new shower head on because I'm going to complain if the shower heads are replaced by the company.
