My tankless hot water heater system has 3 components - the heater itself, a 5-gallon electric water heater and a recirculating pump. The 5 gal. electric heater is in place so that the main heater does not have to cycle on and off all of the time to keep the recirculating hot water hot. The 5 gal. electric water heater sprung a leak and AHS will not cover it, in that they deem it a storage device. NOT SO. It seems that they will go to great lengths as to not cover anything.

Also, please take note, I have tried to call them twice and both times I was on hold for over an hour waiting for a live person. Not only are they difficult to get on the phone, there is NO way that you can communicate with them with via email except to place a service order. They take your money, don't provide the service and then to top it off they don't provide a way to communicate with them to hear your complaint. Got to love that business.

I called American Home Shield over a week and a half ago to request service for my central air unit. After several calls and holds (waiting over 30 minutes to speak to a representative each time) I was informed after 48 hours that a service technician could not be located. I was given authorization find one for myself. I located a company who indicated that I needed a new unit as the unit had worn out parts and a new unit was needed.

AHS denied the claim due to cost and said they would find a technician to service my ac unit. I am still waiting for a call 10 days later. Temperatures have been in the mid 90s and soon to rise there again. AHS could not give me a timeline as to when a service contractor would be located. I am disappointed that AHS has not remedied this situation for us. I have made multiple calls and left messages and get no responses to voicemail messages. In the past AHS has always taken care of problems quickly and effectively, but I am not happy with my service or results as of today.

I’ve had American Home Shield on one of my properties for 14 years. I’ve got it on a couple of rental properties too for about seven years. I’ve really enjoyed it. Everything is detailed out in the contract and it’s been great. The last work order that I did have on them was about three weeks ago. It was on my pool equipment. The pool pump and pool sweep motor were leaking. I called AHS and they sent a technician out. It took a little while for the technician to call in the diagnosis because it was peak season.

I understand that American Home Shield is nationwide and everybody’s air conditioner was going out, plus they have other problems. It took them a little while to get into the authorization department to it get approved. They were able to do it and they replaced my pool pump. That type of pump isn't made anymore so they gave me a better brand. All in all, the overall cost would have been about $1,500 for both of those but I paid $75 so I’m very happy with it.

I was previously without a home warranty to help me out. Before, I went through the phone books to find somebody. If I had a problem like with the air conditioner going out or not cooling properly, I would call somebody up. If they were busy then they’d say, “Well, it’ll be next Tuesday or next Friday before I can get out.” If I tell them I needed somebody sooner, they'd tell me straight up to call somebody else. But with American Home Shield, I like the fact that I have one number to call and they have a timeline that they have to have the technicians out to the home. It could be no more than 24 to 48 hours on it. I get faster service, plus the fact they send me an email with the name and number of the company. I can go ahead and call the company to schedule my appointment. I don’t have to wait until somebody calls me. It's unlike before where I talk to a secretary who doesn't know when the technician is going to be out.

Also with American Home Shield, I know what I have to pay. Even if there are any extra costs on any kind of modifications, I'm still getting something brand new. I recommend American Home Shield to all my family members. My kids have grown and bought their own house. I pushed the home warranty on them because I know that it saved me. It's stupid for a homeowner not to have some kind of warranty.

I had a plumbing problem where a galvanized pipe under my house was ready to burst. I've already replaced the one coming into my house and it cost a good bit of money. Then when I got American Home Shield, I thought that they cover things like plumbing. I thought that just meant hot water heater or dishwasher, but when I checked into it, they do the piping, so I called them out to check the pipes but that has never happened yet. They've been going back and forth. Finally, I called and got the plumber to come back out but he didn't do anything because they're still questioning that $100 from when I paid the first time. Then I was told that coming back out, they would waive that $100 fee. It's in the notes on the computer under my name because I remember hearing whoever it was I talked with, I heard him typing. I don't have a rate yet because I haven't gotten my estimate or anything from AHS.

I submitted a claim online about my dishwasher that had quit working. AHS had someone call me within just a few hours. The contractor came and evaluated it. He told me that more than likely, American Home Shield would not fix it because the unit was old and would suggest a replacement. He put his information in and within maybe a couple of days, somebody from AHS contacted me and said that they were not able to repair it but would want to replace it and they’d need a list of possible replacements. I went online and picked the one I wanted and contacted them. AHS said they would arrange for that and the company that would be delivering it would contact me.

American Home Shield has been excellent. The company that was supposed to deliver it, however, did not contact me. All of a sudden, at 6 o’clock on the night before, I got a telephone message that they were coming the next day. I got in touch with AHS and they got in touch with the delivery company. The next day, the delivery company wouldn’t take any phone calls and were supposed to contact me before 5:00 on the day before the delivery and arrange delivery. They did not. I arranged to have someone here for the delivery, and when they got here they just said they were supposed to deliver and dropped it and left and didn’t set it up.

As soon as I found out I was on the phone again with AHS and they were immediately on the phone with the delivery company. AHS and I were not happy with the delivery company. They said that we refused for them to do the setup, which is a lie. AHS had someone out there the next morning immediately and he installed it and took care of everything just as quickly as he could and everything’s been perfect since then.

We have AHS for 10 years and have never had a problem with them. It’s a very good deal. When we need it, it’s there, because the house is 50 years old and I am sure it’s not going to be long until some of the bigger things start going. The warranty has paid for itself and it’s cheaper than calling someone just out of the blue, to call AHS and let them find a technician. And if it’s not done right, they will take care of it for us. I do not have to worry about that.

However, when I upgraded my policy to include my washer and dryer recently, there were some problems with the communication on the phone number that I had on the cover page of the policy. They're not prepared to send somebody with sales to handle someone like myself who wants to upgrade. The number is designed for service but it doesn’t seem to have smooth link to someone in sales so it took a little while on two occasions when I tried to contact them to inquire about upgrading.

The pool pump had to be replaced and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield online. The process was easy and they normally call within the same day or the next day. They've provided good customer service and the contractor they sent seem knowledgeable, but they don't go above and beyond besides replacing what's immediately broken. All they did was replace the pool pump and did not look at other possible things that were causing it to break. It works for a while, but it did eventually go out again. So I have to call them again and they've come out for the third time in two years to replace it.

To date we have been relatively satisfied with our experience as an AHS customer, however our most recent experience has changed my mind entirely on the company and contract. We had a broken dishwasher several months ago and had a repairman out to fix it after paying two service charge fees of $75, which was expected. When it was still not fixed, I called AHS to have the gentleman come out and fix it one more time and they offered to waive my charge. Fast forward 5 months, we have an issue with our stove and I go to place a service order only to find that I have a past due charge on my account, that has accrued interest, and I cannot place a service request until resolved. I have spent the past 3 days on hold for over an hour each day attempting to reach a Customer Service representative to no avail. Good luck getting through to anyone at AHS if you actually need their service! Would not recommend.

We had AHS for over two years. All is well if they don't assign a company called "GREENWAY HOME SERVICES, LLC." We suspect this company own or have strong handle on AHS. We had three extremely bad experiences in the past with this company and complained to AHS but absolutely to no avail. This company has the ability to fake expensive charges that AHS do not cover. AHS will assign Greenway on all service requests that deal with AC, water heaters, appliances, etc. The customer has no right to refuse this company and request another one!

Today we tried to place a service request and we faced the same problem. We insisted to have somebody else to deal with our request. It took more than 30 minutes on hold on the phone to speak to an associate who refused to assign another company. We requested to speak to customer service and this took another 30 minutes on hold just to hear the same refusal to assign another company. We asked to speak to somebody who has authority and the lady was even more rude and said there is nobody we can talk to!

We advise people who have contract with AHS to check the credibility of their service and their suspicious relationship with Greenway. We are going to give one-star rating because they deserve much lower rating but unfortunately there is no way to assign lower than this rating. We are going to cancel our contract and seek another warranty company (they are plentiful in the market) and have better reviews.

I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. It gives me peace of mind as a homeower that it will protect me from catastrophes that I'm not prepared for when it's covered. I put in a request online for my garage door opener and it's very easy. I got a message and a call from the contractor within 24 hours. It turned out that I didn't have an issue.

I heard the noise again as Mark, who was with the contractor, was leaving. He double checked something and tightened a part. I appreciate him being patient and not brushing me off as crazy, and saying it was just something simple. I told him, "I know you're gonna think I'm crazy but it sounds like the thing is gonna fall apart. My husband has used a whole can of silicone. There is something wrong. How do I know?" He took extra time and he attended to my concerns like how will I know if the garage door was going because my house is 15 years old. We went through it together and he demonstrated it. I have some friends that have nightmare stories about the service contractors in this area but I do not, so I'm very happy with the contractors that American Home Shield uses. They've all been very nice and answered any extra questions I have.

American Home Shield recently came out and the contractor was awesome. I had a plumbing issue and a running plummet. The plumbing issue was running my water bill up extremely high. I called in and I used the automated system in the beginning and made my appointment but no one had called me in three days, so I called back and spoke to a customer service rep, who said that she didn't know why the claim didn't go over to their provider, so she re-sent it. Then I called and waited about three hours. Since I haven't heard from the provider, I called them, they researched the claim, and saw it. Then I was told someone will be out the next day and I was given the time frame.

The contractor showed up on time, was professional, and did a great job. He had to dig a few feet in the ground and go where the pipe was. Then, he showed my husband and myself the meter and it was no longer spinning, so the repair worked. He told us what happened in the repair. Our line was apparently cut by the neighbors who already called out for their plumbing years ago and that he just had to repair that. He took care of everything that he was supposed to do and was out of our house within two hours.

I like the fact that when I put my claim in, AHS was concerned about it and they made sure that they sent someone out. Then when they said they sent the claim over, they did exactly what they said. I don't know if I trust the automated system anymore but I appreciate their customer service as the rep took care of it. And when she took care of it, everything worked out fine.

We filed a claim to American Home Shield about the icemaker on the refrigerator, and the technician was absolutely outstanding. The refrigerator icemaker is working very well now considering that it is already 11 years old, so we're very happy with that. In the same day but on a different claim, I had parts falling off of my microwave. The same technician looked at it. He said he'll ask AHS to replace it and AHS agreed to that, and the new microwave has been installed. However, it took an inordinate amount of time from the time that we made the claim to replace the microwave until it arrived and was installed. But once it arrived it's been fine. Their technician was very friendly, quiet, knowledgeable, cooperative and easy to work with.

I usually submit my claims via the phone because I like to get a person to talk to. The only bad experience I had with AHS was about my broken fan blades. I called AHS to see what could be done. They sent a technician that was very rude. He said fan blades don’t break off of the fans before he even looked at it and that he can't fix it because we didn't save all the parts. He was asked by my wife to take a look but he didn’t want to so my wife kicked him out the door. He thought she was lying. That was a very bad experience and I almost quit AHS after that. But any other time that I have called on them under my contract, I've been very, very pleased.

However, our renter took time off work, waited at home for a day for the contractors, but they did not come. Come to find out, they had to order a new water heater and it took about a week, which was a problem. AHS needed to let us know that they were ordering so that the renters weren't sitting there without a water heater for a week.

When we got back to American Home Shield to complain, they were unaware that all this occurred. They should check and see that customers are getting a faster response from the company they refer us to. With the water heater, there was nothing they could do since it was already at the ordering stage. We were stuck in the middle. The contractors showed up five days later and it’s been good afterward. Everything’s working fine. American Home Shield is a good company and I’ve had good experiences with the other vendors they sent.

We’ve always had a good experience with American Home Shield. Having an extra insurance is really better because on our first house our air-conditioning unit went out. Without AHS, we would have been out of a whole lot of money that we couldn’t afford to pay for a whole new unit. We’re going to be in bad shape if we don’t have it so it’s not worth not having them. In these homes, there are a lot of things that go wrong and break down.

Not long ago, we had to replace our washing machine. They came out and looked at it. They discovered they didn’t even make the part for the washing machine we had, so they replaced it with a new one. We also have so much problems with our upstairs air-conditioning that every summer it wouldn’t cool up there and every time, they would come out until eventually it took them about 4-5 years. Eventually they found out what the problem was and we haven’t had that problem anymore. We’ve been with AHS for 27 years and we’ve never thought about getting rid of it, not as long as we own a home. They always like to please. So far, I’m very pleased with AHS.

We have a policy with American Home Shield, and have tried to use it to cover our pool equipment. We already have a service take care of our pool weekly, and they saw that there was a crack in the water filter, allowing water to spew out of the side of it continuously. They quoted $1400 to replace it, so we contacted AHS to see how we were covered. They wouldn't use our pool company's diagnosis, and said that we had to schedule an appt. with their contractor, and pay them $75 to get a diagnosis. We called, but they hadn't received our "case number" yet, so they couldn't schedule an appt. They asked us to call them back in 24 hours. Another day went by and we called back... they still hadn't received our dispatch number... and our filter is continuing to spew water.

We had to throw in the towel and just have our pool company order a replacement. We had no idea how much of the filter would be covered, because it's not specified at all in the paperwork from AHS... so whatever they told us we would have to believe. Between the filter leaking large sums of water, the $75 service fee, the time it was taking for anyone to even get the dispatch number, let alone who up to diagnose the issue (that we already had diagnosed) and the lack of specification around what would even be covered, it made more sense to just get it fixed. WILL NEVER BUY THIS COVERAGE AGAIN!!! It would've been much better off just saving my $1k to put towards the new pool filter.

Purchased a home warranty contract from American Home Shield. The first time we put in a service request on their website for warranty work at 1:15 pm on 6-27-16. We waited until 6:30 pm on 6-28-16 - without hearing from anyone we decided to call. After being on hold for over 60 minutes, I decided to call a local electrician on my own to hopefully fix our electrical problem. American Home Shield is the absolutely worst company to deal with. They were very easy to contact when purchasing from them, but when you actually have to use the service, you can not contact them.

One of my AC units was not working. Created the service request online. Contractor showed-up; started abusing me saying I should have switched off the AC in order for the fan motor to cool down. How on earth would I know that! Then he left saying he will come back after the motor cools down. Next day, he came back and said the Freon is low and I need to pay from my pocket to add Freon. I asked him why the coolant is low and if there is a leak; he just turned around and said rudely "you talk to the warranty company man" and left. I tried contacting AHS; after 45 minutes wait, I was able to talk to the rep and appraise her of the situation. She said I did the right thing by asking about the leak and then calling them about this issue. She asked if it's ok for the same company to come back and do the work. I said it's ok as long as I don't see the exact same rude technician.

A week passed; nothing happened. I checked the website and it was updated as completed. I called customer service again; after 48 minutes wait, was able to get through, explained the situation, she put me on hold indicating she will review the notes and get back, after a few minutes, call got disconnected! Looks like back to square one. Trying to call them again and on hold for about 15 minutes... Will update once the service request is actually completed.

They do not publish an email address, so if you want to get to someone, you have to make negative comments on their Facebook site. The technician they sent, who did not contact us until we escalated the issue, arrived in flip flops and told us they would be back in two days. We are now a week later, have called the tech. three times and counting, and they do not return calls -- phone goes straight to vmail, the vmail says they will call as soon as they receive the message, but clearly that is not true. Since AHS does not answer their phones, there is no recourse. Terrible service.

I have been with HSA for about a year and have had perfect service experiences in the past, since American Home Shield brought this company my last service experience has been A NIGHTMARE! I placed a claim on 6/5, it took the company 4 days to call me to even schedule my service. Once they called they could not even come out until 6/17. The contractor came out and evaluated the problem but did not have time to actually complete the repair. After waiting 5 days for the contractor to call in for a authorization, I was finally given a approval for the repair, only to have to wait an additional week to be scheduled. My appointment was today, but it's raining and I have been rescheduled for another week. The contractor is offering to come out and charge the unit tomorrow until the line can be repaired but they could have offered that on the 17th... or the technician who came today could have done it, but instead I am consonantly inconvenienced.

I spend 72 minutes holding on the line for American Home Shield, only for the rep to call the company back and get the same information that I already had, I could not speak to a supervisor, I could not speak to her Manager- everything is a call back in 24-48 hours. I am not only receiving horrible customer service from D&T heating and cooling. I am also receiving the worst service from American Home Shield! The customer service representative was unknowledgeable- she offered me a cash out to have the repairs completed myself. I asked for the amount - and the response is - "I will have to email that department and this may delay or cancel the appointment you have next week. Then they will get back to you in 24-48 hours with a cashout offer..."

This is TRULY insane. This has been the WORST experience. I have had no air for over a month, and I have a small asthmatic child who is having trouble in the HOT house. I have no options. I now must sit and wait another week and hope that the weather allows them to make the repair next week. My home warranty company certainly did not advocate for me! There is NO way this should have taken 30 DAYS!!! AND IT'S STILL NOT FIXED!

The repairman told my husband that he did not have the part to complete the repair and that it would take ONLY 24/48 hours to get the part in. As of today 06/27/2016 we have no part and no A/C. My husband phoned Arrings today and was told that the hose we needed had just arrived. The problem is we didn't need a hose. The person on the phone promised my husband that he would call back promptly to figure out what had happened. Hours later he called back to Arrings and no one would answer. He then tried to contact AHS and waited on hold for over 35 minutes with no answer.

I had an issue with some part of my heating system and American Home Shield couldn’t get anybody out to the location. I had to make numerous phone calls and they didn’t bother to tell me. It was almost three days and they finally said, “Well, you get somebody out there and have them give you an estimate and have them call us and then we will approve or disapprove.” That’s a little tough to do when we’re talking about outside help to ask them if they’ll pay for it. It turned out that the people that I did get to fix it had dealt with them before and had no problem. They fixed it and said that the AHS representative paid the bill.

However, it was a month down the line by the time they got any stuff done. I would call after 24 hours and say that I haven’t heard anything. Then they said that they told me it could be 48. They should have called us If they can’t find anybody, and we’ll get somebody else out there faster than 48 hours. Also, we would have to wait a long time to get them to answer their phones. But they eventually paid it once I got a little angry. I got somebody else on the phone and they started to explain things better. I’ve got three contracts with them, and this was the first contract I had to use. I’m still with them six months later so I can’t be that disappointed. They paid the claim so I’ll let it go, but they were not easy to deal with.

The process of submitting a claim with American Home Shield, either online or through phone call, works well. I've had good experience if I had to talk to their customer service person. I had somebody look at the air conditioner and it worked out fine. I also had a person out to do the heater on the spa on the pool during wintertime.

The contractors are good 99% of the time. They’ve been able to fix everything so it was satisfactory. I never had any follow-up problems in the cases when we had them work on something. There was one contractor who couldn't do what needed to be done and AHS arranged for somebody else. They would never send that contractor to me again. We've been working with AHS for a number of years so we've been happy with them. Year to year price changes haven’t been too dramatic or drastic so they have been reasonable from when we started.

In addition,My only bad experience is that the plumbing company that AHS uses in my area does not always work with us. They are the only vendor for my area which then causes an issue because we cannot have a second opinion on the plumbing side. It gets problematic if we're not in agreement with their verdict. The home we purchased came included with this warranty company. We had an issue with our heat pump package unit and called them to have someone out to look at it. First time they came around it was diagnosed with a bad compressor. Second time they came out it was diagnosed with parts going bad and supposedly parts missing. The unit was working without them before hand and would have continued to do so afterwards. The amount to replace the parts amounted to $1,300. I refused to put that money into a 16 year old unit that has a phased out refrigerant with high energy consumption.

I told American Home Shield that it was illogical to put this kind of money into the unit and that the more logical thing was to replace the whole unit. They did not want to do that and the cash out process took weeks to complete with the lady on the phone not knowing exactly how to go about it. The only reason I have them is because they are free, but I definitely don't plan on keeping them after the year. I replaced my package unit myself (oh yeah did I mention that I also do this for a living) and with the cash out money I still ended up paying about $2k. Which is not bad for a 4 1/2 ton package unit on roof.

Final Thoughts: Customer service wasn't very well trained. They lacked the knowledge to get me to the right departments and to really understand the needs of the home. They do not care for the lies of the vendors they use even though they impact the customer greatly. Their logic is disappointing. No one wants to put $1,300 into a 16 year old unit just to have it go bad in the following years. Would not recommend to friends and family.

They came back and supposedly fixed it, but it kept freezing everything. Eggs, mustard, etc. We called them back they supposedly fixed it again and it still kept freezing items that wasn't suppose to be frozen. We just dealt with it. Well, it finally went out. We called on a Monday and they said no one can come until Saturday. I called back to see if someone could come sooner. It was changed to Friday. Yay! I was trying to update my payment information online but forgot my password. I hit the forgot password and enter my email. It said my email isn't a registered email, but when I call that's the email they have on file and the email I receive emails from them.

Yesterday, the guy said it was a glitch and I should log off and back on. I did, it still did not work. I tried today and it still did not work. I called them and the recording said I would have to wait 10 minutes. I waited 35-40 minutes. When I told the new guy what was happening, he said it was a glitch and people have been calling in. I said, "If people have been calling in then the glitch should have been fixed." I have been waiting on this phone for 35-40 minutes for the same issue and he hung up on me. Whatever happened to good customer service.

I'm too tired to call back or I would call back and ask to speak to a supervisor. I'm just going to pray they can fix or replace my refrigerator Friday and we won't have to wait any longer than we already have and that the person who comes provides better customer service. Update: the refrigerator is still not fixed. They had to order a part so now we have to wait until Tuesday, that's if the part comes Monday. How many times and how much money will they spend before replacing an item. You would like it would be cheaper to just replace. My food spoiled and I can't go shopping until the refrigerator gets fixed. Very frustrating!

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was easy. I could make a phone call and put in a request and they assigned a contractor, and the contractor was to call me back. And typically, they don't call right away so I'd call them. I keep a log in my notebook of when I call and the response time and who I used, and whether I'm satisfied or not because I often have more than one plumbing problems in different times during the year, and some of the plumbers have been good and some were not.

So I had a plumbing claim and when I called them on my faucets on April 26th, 2016, they sent somebody out within a day and that was lovely. The problem was he never got back to fix it until June 24th, 10:00 AM. The contractor that was sent was very professional and I thought he was good, as well as their office. What I don't understand is why it took them so long to come back and resolve it. So they're not always the best in terms of response time. They might be very responsive at first that they come out and they need a part or they need something else. Then I got put on and taken off the schedule, and it got a little messy. That's quite a long time for repairing a washer. I knew that the contractor tried to schedule and American Home Shield doesn't circle back and ask for satisfaction. I'd call and I make it known to them and they'd take it down.

Most of what I call for are things that typical homeowners may know how to do - fixing washers in tubs and stopping leaks. That way, I thought it's costly, but I'm a single homeowner and didn't have the skills for any of it. However, the performance has been fine since the repair and I have not had any issue with it. I've had them for several years and I'd say they were okay overall. What I tend to find is that they are using contractors that may not be the best and a little substandard. It'd also be nice to have a loopback from them, even if it's an email like "Were you happy? Were you not?" That kind of a thing. I always hate having to call and say, "I wasn't happy."

Our most recent experience with American Home Shield was great. The water heater wasn’t heating up so we submitted a claim. Originally, they sent it to the wrong type of company to fix it but it was corrected within four hours. We had the right people out the very next day. The technician came in and explained to my husband what the problem was and how they were going to fix it and it has been perfect since the fix. We’ve been pleased with AHS's service and have been with them for 20 years now.

When the contractors came in to fix the AC, I was out of town, so I had someone else here. The contractors that AHS sent were great, and so far, the AC's performance has been great since they fixed it. They did what I needed to have done. Right now, I'm very happy with AHS.

However, one of the burners he fixed doesn't seem like it's working quite as well. We have double burner sizes, but when we used the small burner it doesn't work and goes to the big burner. We just got back into town and discovered this.

He did it online and got a response right away which was within an hour. They gave us a claim number and told us when the vendor would contact us. Everything went as they said. The contractors talked to my husband over the phone because we had a question about their recommendation and pricing. We authorized it and everything's worked out great. We had an issue with the water heater twice in a row. It was replaced before and then it was acting goofy so they came out and reset the brain, tinkered with it, and it’s been working perfectly since. While their technicians were tinkering with it, I asked them questions about what’s going on and they explained everything. They were quick. We have AHS for four years now and we plan to continue to keep it because it definitely pays for itself. It's worth the cost.

I go online or call to file a claim with American Home Shield. It's easy and someone typically comes by within 24-48 hours. My most recent claim was regarding my air conditioner. I let them know what was wrong and they typed things up and sent someone out. I liked all the contractors that came out for various reasons and I trusted their opinions. They’ve been nice, trustworthy, and their repairs worked. But regarding my air conditioner, I wish I didn’t have to keep making claims and that American Home Shield would say it’s time to replace it. We had air conditioning guys come out to our house three times and we’ve only lived there a year. That’s my biggest complaint since there's the frustration of dealing with the hottest week of the summer and the air conditioner didn't work. But other than that, I haven’t had an issue with American Home Shield every time I called. They are pleasant to work with and they have knowledgeable contractors.

My most recent claim with AHS was for a Freon check. Back in March or April, AHS had recommended the air-conditioners be checked before the season began. I submitted the claim online and within less than a day, they responded and got somebody scheduled out for the next couple of days. It wasn't an emergency. However, they still reacted very quickly. The technician came out and looked at both the air-conditioners and determined that there was a Freon leak and fixed it. So the service was fantastic. The peace of mind to know that the air-conditioners are not going to go out in the next two months or so before the season ends is very important.

Also, I called AHS when my microwave stopped working as well as when I had an electrical shortage. At both instances, they resolved the problem within the next couple of days. They replaced the microwave with a more appropriate model since the old model was probably 10 years old. The warranty has been great. It's an easy way to maintain my home and it gives me peace of mind. I'm very happy and do recommend them to others.

Our water heater was leaking water out the bottom. It wasn’t too bad but it was enough for us to have it looked at. We called American Home Shield and told them what we needed. They said they'll get our number and have one of their local technicians call. We got the call from their technician the same day or the next day. They were really nice and kind, and we were pleasantly surprised. They checked the heater out and said they needed to replace it.

We wanted to upgrade our heater from the 40 gallons to the 50 gallons. The technicians were willing to work with us in trying to figure out the best approach to the upgrade. However, there was a bit of back and forth because they weren’t sure how much American Home Shield would cover. That part was a little bit frustrating because in my mind American Home Shield would pay so much and we would pay the difference. We weren’t using the correct terminology, so they kept saying they didn't know what we were talking about and they couldn't do it. This went on for about a week. It was the local contractor who said we needed to do the cash out option.

I called American Home Shield again and once we got to the correct department, they knew what we were talking about. It was very professional and very efficient. It was taken care of immediately at that point. Once I got talking to the correct people to have the process approved, they sent a check out and said it would take 10 to 14 days to get the check to us. In the meantime, we changed the water heater. When we get the check, we will use that to reimburse ourselves. We're glad that we have American Home Shield insurance. Buying a used home, there are always things we don’t know about that could go wrong. The heater was one of those things. It was a good thing we have that insurance replacing our water heater.

Most of my claims with AHS have been good. The last one was a plumbing deal where they had to replace the plumbing in the wall and they tried to blame that on scratches on the faucet on the outside which weren't scratches. It was tarnish and I've been here 25 years. The handle broke and that's all that was wrong with it but it cost me $900. I wasn't happy about that because it had nothing to do with what was in the wall. I didn't accept the assessment from their rep because she didn't want to replace it because of the broken handle. The plumber came out here and was nice about it. He told them they had to replace everything in the wall and it's very expensive to do that.

We've had air conditioners go out and AHS has been good about replacing those. I also had pumps go out on the swimming pool and there was no problem. Overall it's good, but sometimes, you get these people on the telephone and they're looking at a picture they can't tell anything about and trying to make a decision. They don’t always have somebody else come out and look at it too, but I pay another $75 every time someone comes out. A lot of times, they get people that don't want to fix it and want to make a big claim.

I like submitting a claim over the phone instead of the internet. It's being old fashioned but it was easy to do. The tech came the same day. I've been at my home for many years that I knew the immediate symptoms so it didn't cause any problems. The guy fixed it and everything went well. He blew the lines out, explained a lot of stuff to me, looked at the dates and told me how old my equipment was. I knew everything had been here forever and I'm expecting it to go out. We never had any problems with AHS reps taking our information and putting a claim in, although, almost every time we call, there is a long time to get through on the 800-number. We recently called them for our dishwasher. We made four different calls and had different contractors. The most recent one was very good and did a great job. We also had people come out for the refrigerator and the garage, and we had some difficulty with one of them. They said that something major needed to be replaced, and AHS said they’re going to send out someone else, which they did, and the refrigerator was repaired. But we already paid the first contractor the $100 deductible, and when AHS sent out someone else, we continuously got billed for that $100. I continued to call them, and they finally took care of it but it was frustrating.

Another problem we had was when our air conditioning went out. We live in Palm Springs wherein it is extremely hot in the summer, and it took them a couple of days to get someone out here, which to me is unacceptable because it’s impossible to stay at home without the air conditioning when the temperature is above 110. That was also frustrating, and I expected them to be out to address it that day. Overall, they addressed the things that we’ve called them out to do. We didn't have to fight for claims. They’ve been able to fix the small things that we’ve called them out to repair, and I’m satisfied with that.

The vendor was very responsive too and came back at no charge, fixed the other side of the faucet and we were all set. I love that they did that. It would have been great, though, if they addressed both the hot and the cold faucets while they were here. Apparently, the contract only allowed the vendor to address one or the other and they couldn't fix the hot and the cold at the same time. On the upside, they took care of it and got the whole job done eventually even though it took a little longer.

There needs to be stronger protocols in place when a customer service rep denies a claim, doesn’t communicate that back to the customer, and that turns out to be a mistake to begin with. There was a lack of communication and a lack of a lot of things.

I submitted a claim online to AHS and it was quick and painless. Later that day, the contractor called me and scheduled me for the following day because they were really booked. So I had to wait an extra day. The contractor was very smart and good at what he did but he wasn’t really a happy, people person but not angry either. He was able to find the problem and fix it within 30 minutes. Everything’s fantastic but overall, I am not pleased with the customer service of AHS. There was a problem I had last year where it took them six months with several emails/requests to fill a hole that they had cut to replace a pipe.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for my dryer. My son was here when they came out to check it. They said they had to order a part and would call and try to be back the next day. He did call me and tell me that the part wasn't coming in until late afternoon and it was very courteous on his behalf to have the gumption to call and tell me that. Then he went well and beyond by coming in that same day to fix it, and the dryer has been working fine since the repair.

I've not had any problems with any of the claims I filed with AHS. The most recent one I did was a month and a half ago for a shower valve that had been stuck and wouldn't turn off. I gave them a call and they responded on time. AHS contacted a contractor and called me back. It was also good that the contractor kept their appointment.

The contractors came to analyze the shower valve. I anticipated a serious problem but it actually turned out to be very easy from the contractor's standpoint. It was handled very expeditiously, they were in and out in less than an hour. They knew exactly what and how to do it, and they got it done. There was no mess, no fuss, and they did good clean-up. I'm happy with AHS and would recommend it.

Our most recent claim with American Home Shield was for an air conditioning unit at one of my tenant's place. The people at AHS were very pleasant and they gave me an appliance guy who was very easy to work with. He knew the complex really well. He got there before me and he was already checking out the outside unit. He was making sure it was okay right out there. I asked my tenant if everything is working well, and she said everything is working great. Additionally, when we claimed for a stove with burners that were not coming on, AHS sent me a guy who was very pleasant, prompt, efficient and also easy to work with. AHS has been really good and very prompt in helping me to get the repairs done to the appliances. My experience with them has been easy peasy, and I would use them again.

My 79 year old father in law and his 80 year old brother came out found the leak within an hour of the plumber leaving, had it fixed within another hour. The subpanel on the AC unit burned up which caused problems with AC, called for service. 2 days later AC guy calls for an appointment. In the time it took for him to call I discovered the subpanel was the problem. Electrical contractor has never called. I called them and asked if this was covered and he stated no. I am a Realtor who has referred 4 families to AHS over the past year. It is not worth it, nothing is covered. Not a good experience. I will not refer anyone to them.

They didn't really fix the problem and AHS wants me to pay the $75 fee again to get a new one sent. Customer service isn't helpful so I typically use the automated claim submission but I called this time to make sure they didn't send the same contractor again. I've had AHS with other houses in the past, they have a good concept but poor execution.

Buyer beware. Service level is horrible. AC system went down in June. Called to start a claim. Initial wait time was 25 minutes. Filed claim. Called to follow-up on the status of the contractor being assigned as I had not heard anything in 2 days. Again 25 minute wait (online chat option had a 32 minute posted wait). Meanwhile, I called a local contractor and they could visit the property the same day. Finally spoke with a rep. Shared my story. They said there was nothing they could do and that I had to let the process work. Called their contractor directly. They had available appointments a week out.

Finally has the inspection. There was a crack in the evaporator coil, which is covered. Contractor also submitted a non-claimable repair to replace the drain pan and all drain lines for $1,400 under the guise that it was not up to code. The system was replaced 3 years ago. Had the original company AC company come out and confirm it is to code and stated the home warranty contractors frequently try to up-sell service using that statement. Most consumers just pay and move on. Shared my research to AHS. They picked the contractor - it is their representative. AHS has no concern that their contractors were committing fraud.

When I asked them to intervene, they indicated they rely on their contractors claim. That is very poor service. Regardless of the outcome. Every phone call resulted in a 25-35 minute wait. The person that answer the call is not knowledgeable about the policy nor how to read and understand the work order results coming in from the field. They are poorly trained, rude and really lack any concern for the consumer.

The morning of Sunday June 5, 2016 the compressor on our air conditioner failed on what was to be a record heat day in Southern Arizona. After checking the obvious, breakers, fuses, I called AHS approximately 1:00 pm to file a repair order. An email was sent to me from AHS with name of contractor for the repair. Called the contractor and filed for a work order. No reply from them that Sunday. I called again Monday morning and later they called back with an appointment for Tuesday afternoon.

At the appointment they confirmed the compressor was bad needing replacement and they would get back to me after they contacted AHS for approval and they could have us fixed up by that Thursday, June 9th. I called on June 8th to confirm the approval from AHS had been received only to find that AHS would be ordering the new compressor and it would be the next week before it would arrive. I called AHS and was told it was a money saving deal for AHS. I received a call late afternoon Tuesday, June 14th from the contractor saying the compressor had arrived and they would be out Wednesday, June 15th for the install.

Ten days in record heat with ASH's money saving program plus $450.00 over the $75.00 for freon that AHS didn't care about supplying to save me their customer a few bucks. AHS has not call to see if the repair was completed successfully or not. After many years with AHS and my bad experiences over this last year my AHS contract was canceled June 16, 2016.

American Home Shield is not worth **. Our ac went out two weeks ago. Now we live in Louisiana and it is summer. The temperature is 98-100 with heat index of 118. They were called immediately. Yes the technician came out next day and said needed new unit. He said they needed his approval and would be three or four days. No word, we had to call only to learn the technician had lost the paperwork he was to send in. AHS said it would be another day or two. After raising Cain they said call our own technician, send it in and they would get it done. Two days later they say they did not agree with him and want second opinion. Another two days to come out, another day or two to order parts then reschedule to come out. We have pets that are dying in spite of several fans.

My daughter has been paying them for seven years and had them for about ten or fifteen before. My daughter is extremely upset so I call AHS. I get this gal who just keep repeating like recording that they don't agree. They are in Memphis, we are in Louisiana. I keep trying to get someone to speak to that won't act as recording but can't. This gal will not even listen to reason. Yes it became heated. Because she won't do anything to help. I told her I would report all this. And she was angry. A short while later I get a call from her (recognized the voice) and she says, "** you want your daughters ac fixed" (she speaking very low) and I say yes. She continues to say, "We will never fix your damn daughters ** AC **". I hung up of course after a few choice words. Don't waste your money for service like that.

I wish I could give negative stars to this business. I cannot imagine all of these positive reviews are true and accurate. The service person sent to my home twice for a different problem was incredibly condescending to me, and actually suggested I not tell my husband something was so easy to fix. I complained about this and verified my information for the third time. Last Thursday, 6/16/16, my dishwasher stopped draining. I called AHS and was told it was a long wait time. They offered a "new, state of the art, automated scheduling system." I accepted. I put in my information. No email was sent to me to verify service.

I called this Wednesday - the first date of service available for dishwasher repair - to verify my phone number and to ask which company was coming, what time, etc. Customer service rep Aleika verified my phone number, and responded Sears would be coming between 8 and 12. She stated the technician would call me when he left his previous job. 12 arrives and no technician. I see a note on my window stating the tech came at 10:40. I heard no knock or doorbell, and certainly never received a phone call. Called and spoke with customer service rep Kimberly. She apologized but said the next possible date was Friday. And the rep had the wrong phone number. That's why I never received a call - even after verifying with Aleika at 9 am that the correct number was on my account.

After venting my frustration for almost 3 hours - the minimum I have been on the phone with this business when I call is 1 hour - they waive the $100 service fee and tell me they will be there Friday. Kimberly puts me on hold to check that they can come at 8am on Friday. She comes back and says they can come thursday between 1 and 5. I tell her it has to be Friday morning because I have pick ups and errands for my 3 children. She says no problem, they will be there at 8am Friday morning. Guess what? I get home at 6:30 tonight and there is a note on my door saying the tech was here at 6:10pm.

I call A&E factory repair to find out what is going on, only to be treated like a hysterical female because they cannot come until the following Wednesday. They never had me down for Friday after all. I called AHS and was told they would try to find someone to come sooner than Wednesday. It's been a week. The last item I needed fixed - a garage door - took almost a week to get fixed too. Please know this company does not care about its customers and find another home warranty company that cares about customers that are spending hard earned money for countless hours on hold, hours of waiting for people to show up, and there is NEVER a supervisor to speak with. I think I will send an invoice for my time, and my husband's time to them. Nightmare company. Avoid!

I was really surprised at the outcome of my first claim with American Home Shield. I didn't know what was up there in the air conditioner or how it was installed. It was leaking and I could see dust coming through my vent. Their technician stated in his report that the ductwork should have been smaller than it should have been. It wasn't covered in my policy so I was upset in that situation because I thought they might have corrected it. But I disputed that with AHS because we had Comfort-Aire come out one time to do cleaning and to make sure everything was with the AC and they never said anything about the ductwork being undersized.

I asked to have somebody check the air conditioner again. AHS said it was okay but they added that if the technician would come and say the same thing, I would have to pay the technician $125 again. I didn't want to do that and I'm disappointed with my experience. Other than that, I had no problem with the way AHS set up the visit. They did good. But the problem was with who they contracted and sent out. I’m still staying with American Home Shield and I would recommend them.

I did my claim to American Home Shield over the phone because I had more than one thing and I wanted to make sure they were handled. The first guy that they sent took him a day to get back to me which was annoying because this is a clogged toilet and I have five people in my house. I also didn't like the guy at all as he had an attitude. He didn't offer to take his shoes off my house and I have babies. That really got me upset that my house was dirtied up. American Home Shield called me back afterwards. They couldn't unclog my toilet and they couldn't fix my drains and that those weren't covered.

American Home Shield sent a second person out but I had to wait for three days before he came. And although he was super nice and I liked him a lot, he still couldn't fix anything. He said the same thing as the first guy, that it wasn't covered. There was some kind of valve outside where the toilet goes 'cause the house is older. There's no way to flush it out externally. American Home Shield said if I wanted to have it fixed, I'd have to pay for it myself. It sucked and I'm wondering why I'm sending all those money to American Home Shield. I can't believe I paid $75 plus what I'm paying annually to get nothing fixed. I lost money to them to tell me it wasn't covered when they should've told me that before. I'm thinking of cancelling American Home Shield.

A truly horrible company. There is no need to pay for a home warranty. AHS does not replace and will take weeks to fix an issue with the hopes that you get tired of dealing with their 30+ minute wait times on the phone and 72 business hour turnaround time. Their contractors damage homes and still get business leaving their paying clients out of pocket thousands of dollars. They sent them into my home. They should ensure they pay for the damages not just shrug their shoulders offering a fake apology and telling you to move on. They still want to send this lousy contractor UNITED AIR TEMP to our home. No thank you. Still recovering from the $8,000 in damages they caused the last time you sent them out.

Typical repairs take well over two weeks time. Their response time has increased to 5-7 business days. Forget about EVER speaking to a supervisor. They have 72 business hours to respond. HA. Still waiting since February. My advice. Don't waste your money and use the premium to pay for your repairs. You will be a lot happier.

I have had a HORRIBLE time dealing with "American Home Shield". I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL. I know most warranties want you to think they are saving you money, saving you from having to pay out of pocket, and they trick you into thinking this is the BEST, thing for you all the way around. Take it from me, don't do it. Don't go with American Home Shield. I have had nothing but trouble and the blame game with this warranty. OBVIOUSLY no one wants to pay for things, no one needs or wants any added expenses. We all understand that. My problem is, when you pay close to 1,000 for a policy, and then pay another fee every time they come to your house for service you think, you would be getting just that, GOOD QUALITY SERVICE. Well, so far, I can tell you through my experience with this warranty I have had nothing but issues and all you get in return is more issues.

Complaints only go through by email, under a complaint tab... So no, don't expect a real person to speak to you other than the phone techs setting up appointments. That's it, they are all you will ever speak to. When asked if you can speak to someone they tell you to go to their email and file a complaint... Seriously??? When they do send someone out, you never know what to expect. But I will tell you this, the customer is told more times than not "I'm sorry, that's not covered (even though it states it is on your policy)."

They will some way or another figure out a way that it's your fault, and not theirs and you will pay. Trust me, you will be paying big bucks. I have spent more money out of pocket by having this coverage than if I would just call a repair service myself. I do not, I repeat, I do not recommend wasting your time or hard earned money. Being a mom of 4 and a new homeowner, I thought definitely this was a great investment. Wrong, wrong, wrong!!! Please reconsider and save your hard earned money and look elsewhere.

I am now having to again get my things replaced or fixed by me, myself calling on another source to fix what should have taken less than the 12 days it's been taking me to get through with phone calls and dealing with people who obviously are trying to save them their money rather than the consumer/homeowner... I am now already paying more out of pocket under their so-called warranty and then I still get nailed with a $1,000 bill out of pocket today for the so-called service, poor time & quality of care this warranty has. One furious homeowner!!!

It's unfortunate because I would actually say American Home Shield has made the entire damage/claim process WORSE than it would have been if I had just hired (and paid) for my own contractors and service.

My water heater burst sometime over the weekend, considering the damage our guess is last Friday. American Home Shield was able to get a plumber out to "assess" the damage on Monday (fine considering I did not call until Sunday). He came to my home, inspected and basically told me the situation was bad. There was water (yes- indeed there is) and I should have someone come remove all the water before he did anything. I told him the flood specialists were 30 minutes out and would be there shortly so he said good - he does not have a solution and would come back and left.

I've now spent several hours EACH day trying to get in contact with American Home Shield. Each person apologizes and then transfers me to the next "rep" only to sit on hold for another 40 minutes, transferred to another rep, and then mysteriously disconnected. I cannot have a non-authorized plumber come because they will not pay for it and I cannot afford to continue to wait for their 0 star horrible non-BBB reviewed plumber to show up (and charge me $75), maybe give me an accurate diagnosis, maybe not, and then leave again without ordering the parts I need to stop the flooding and begin repairs in my home.

If my microwave or oven went out I suppose I could afford their 1 week (and still counting) turn around for a diagnosis and god only knows how long for the parts and repairs. Considering my hot water tank had to be drained, I am living with NO water and we're a family of 4. It is just unrealistic and I can honestly say American Shield should be held accountable for failing on all accounts for their delivery so far. I will unfortunately need to check into a hotel tonight after 5 days of waiting to have water and with the weekend in sight it looks like I will need to scrap American Home Shield and pay for all my repairs (and their new fees for these garbage contractors) to have anything taken care of in an adequate timeline before I begin the massive renovations needed.

We had a problem with our dryer so my older sister called AHS to submit a claim. Somehow the ball got dropped and the person that they had sent the order to didn’t even come out here. We called again and they sent it to the same person again. I called back and that person said, “We don’t come out there.” Then I called American Home Shield back and they said, “Well, let me verify that,” and they found out that those people didn’t come out here. They did the order again and they actually made the appointment for me while I was on the phone in Sears. They were very courteous, friendly and helpful. The contractor who came out did everything he was supposed to do and was very nice.

We recently submitted a claim to American Home Shield to replace the motor for our central air unit. Unfortunately it was a hot Memorial Day weekend but the contractor came out within a day of opening the claim. From start to finish it took two weeks because there was difficulty trying to find the motor and they were also busy with other calls. They came out twice in one day and were great about it. They routed some other guys at the end of the day when they finished up another job to come out and did a fantastic job.

I love the fact that American Home Shield is timely and someone always contacts us the very next day. Whatever is wrong gets fixed and we're not sitting here waiting and suffering. The contractors that they sent are always professional. They let us know what's going on and how they fix it, and I enjoy that. We recently had a refrigerant leak on the air conditioner on my rental home so they had to come out and add more freon to the unit. It was very easy submitting the claim, which I normally do online. I just click what's wrong and it's done. AHS said the way my air condition sits, because of the vibration, it's going to leak every year so my only complaint would be they aren't going to fix it until it totally breaks down. That means every year I'm getting a different crack in different places of my air condition unit that I have to have repair every single year. I find that to be ridiculous. But other than that, they do a really good job.

We had a compressor unit go down on an air conditioner. The contractors from AHS communicated well. They scheduled ahead of time and called when they're on the way. When they were doing an inspection on the AC, they found that another AC was leaking stuff, too. So we had two of the air conditioner units go out. They seemed knowledgeable and explained everything well beyond what I wanted to know. They were also extremely polite and didn't track stuff into the house. They were worried about making sure that everything was clean. Everything was done great.

There was something going on with my AC unit and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield. Its the wiring up in the attic and that was taken cared of. However, my thermostat was bouncing around so I had to call them back to see if something was going wrong, but I came to find out that I just needed to have my thermostat replaced and they replaced it on that very same visit free of charge. Everything went really well and I had no issues, complaints or any concerns. The contractors have been very professional and I haven’t had any issues with them either. The customer service representatives were always very pleasant. They return my calls and are very prompt.

Then recently, I had an issue with my washing machine and AHS sent someone out who wasn't capable of working on it. They tried fixing it, but now they're going to replace it. Overall, my experience with AHS has been a challenge.

AHS have been working on my refrigerator since April. What happened was it wasn’t cooling in the refrigerator part. All the stuff in there was falling. They sent one company out and when the company worked on it, the top and the bottom were freezing. There weren’t icicles in there before, but now I have it hanging there. Everything inside is frozen – juice, milk, eggs, vegetables. I got to take everything from the freezer part and put it in an ice cooler until they finish fixing the refrigerator. I’ve had different contractors who came to work on it, and they can’t seem to find out what’s going on. For the second time that the contractor came out, I asked why the refrigerator kept freezing up. He shook his head and said he doesn’t know. That’s why I called AHS and they gave another company. It was two weeks that I was calling, and they said that it’s not ready and not yet fixed.

This new company says that they’re gonna work me in but their schedule was already filled for the next week. I told them that the best part about it is I have a backup refrigerator. However, submitting a claim was easy. The AHS representatives knew what was going on and they were really compassionate with me for having to go through this. They did everything I asked them to do. It’s just that the company that I’m getting doesn’t know what to do with it apparently. I just wanted my refrigerator fixed.

I called American Home Shield for a service quote recently. My latest claim with them was for the AC. I submitted my claim over the phone and it wasn't hard, but it took a long time, about 20 minutes wait, to get through to a rep. The contractor came out and said, "Oh sorry, we didn't know that the repair was for an AC on the second storey, so they had to cancel that appointment and come back the next day, and that was foul on their part.

But then they did take a month and a half, from May 3 till June 20, before they came back to get a little sheet rod repaired for me, which was really terrible because nobody followed up with them from Home Shield. They just did a patch and I knew that's what they would do. But if I wasn't just moving into my house and I was already living in there, I would have had a hole in the wall behind my refrigerator for a month and a half which is really uncalled for. The contractor seemed to know what he was doing, but my AC is still not working perfectly. We have to call them back to make sure that it's working properly because it's still hot upstairs on my second floor.

They finally sent back another contractor who did replace the pressure valve, but nobody has addressed the fact that it’s still not making enough hot water. They came out on the day and time they said they would and fixed the air conditioner. The contractor was fantastic and even suggested something else to save some bucks which I was very impressed with. He said I could make another appointment, but I had to make it within a certain time limit. In case I wanted to get his suggestion done, there won’t be another service charge. It was wonderful. Our air conditioner unit wasn’t working and had a Freon leak. The technician did a great job and I hadn’t seen more problems. However, American Home Shield only allows $10 per pound of Freon and it was like 65. So the amount was an issue. It's nowhere close to what they’re allowing. The other issue we had was we paid the tech that day the service fee and the additional amount that we owed. For some reason, AHS kept billing us for the service fee which we already paid. It took about six weeks for them to clear it up and get it off our account even though I kept calling and telling them I already paid.

I recently filed a claim with AHS for our air conditioning and it was a very bad experience. First time I called was in May 18th, over a weekend, and they said that the person would be here on the 20th. They called me on the 20th and said that the person coming from Glendale, California, which is approximately 110 miles away from where we live, got sick and cannot come. Why would they even send someone from so far away when we have air conditioner people here?

My husband has COPD and I just got him out of the hospital so we need air down here. I had explained to AHS the problem. I told them that the master control inside just stopped but it worked again after I unplugged and plugged it back in. But it stopped again and that's when I called them to fix the outside unit. The lady helped me find someone here - a company I never heard of before.

The first contractor guy who came took the whole thing apart and checked the outside blower, which was working. It took him just five minutes, then he took our money and left. Two weeks later, there was a flooding all over the floor, no air conditioning at quarter of 8 at night and 95 degrees inside the house. There was water in the evaporation tube of the air conditioner. Turns out that was the problem, it was clogged. I did tell the contractor before that the problem possibly comes from the inside. All he had to do was eye-glaze and there was a PVC pipe that was right above it as this problem has apparently happened before. It should have been looked at, and me as the consumer shouldn't tell the air conditioner company where to look for the problem.

My husband can't breathe so I got hold of the contractor at 7:00. He's yelling at me that he doesn't take phone calls from people that are frantic and how dare I call him. He doesn't want to have a liability on me - he was afraid of a lawsuit. I told him somebody was supposed to fix the air conditioner but there was nothing more for me to say because he wasn't going to send anybody. He was just gonna keep it dripping. Hence my wall is ruined. He said he'll come instead between 3:00 and 5:00 and that it's not up to him to diagnose everything that's wrong with my air conditioner. Isn't that what I'm paying AHS every year for? I didn't deserve to be treated like that.

I sat at home all night long at 92 degrees plus I had to find a cooling center for my husband and dog. I also get a call from my homeowners insurance since the paste is coming off the wall. At 12:00 as I'm driving down the street, the contractor said they just had a cancellation and asked if I was home. The contractor (it was the owner) knew exactly what the problem was and his attitude changed from when he reamed at me. I apologized for having to call him after hours and explained that even though it's cool that they were trying to get someone else to come out, that would be another $88 from my own pocket. Moreover, I told him that I have to work at 6:00, I had to find my husband a cooling center, and he, the contractor had the nerve to think that I was going to sit in my home all day long, in the heat of the day.

The contractor didn't even charge me the extra $100 when he fixed the unit for the second time, so he knew what he did. He was rude - he didn't talk to me or even turn on the air conditioner to see if it worked. I asked him to come by the thermostat to show me how it works and he just said to turn it on like I normally do, it'll work fine. So overall, it was a horrible experience. I was so close on going to social media about it. AHS has a really good reputation, this is why we picked them over another company. But I was shocked by this contractor they sent out.

The last one was actually good enough as he knew what the problem was and it was solved. In my most recent claim, I called the AHS people for my water heater problem. They sent a plumber and he said that I need a new water heater. He apparently submitted that with AHS but they said the problem in the water heater is not covered by the insurance. I thought they would, but they didn't and so I'm not happy about that.

I live in Palm Desert. Temp on Monday was 120+. My AC went out. I submitted a request online. Followed up Tuesday (sat on hold 36 minutes) and asked it be expedited because I had baby, dog, and no AC. Called back 2 hours later (sat on hold another 28 minutes) and was told I could contact my own AC guy as long as they weren't on a specific list and I would be reimbursed once the tech called and gave diagnosis and it was a covered failure. I was given that list and called one not on that list. Guy showed up within an hour. Diagnosed the problem. We called (sat on hold for 23 mins before he had to go). I needed AC as it was again 110+ outside and I paid for the repairs. After completed, I called again (sat on hold another 26 mins). I was told that because the tech did not call I would not be reimbursed for anything.

I am pissed because who the heck has time to sit on hold for a total of 113 mins over a 4 hour period? We tried calling while the tech was there and because of AHS lack of customer service they are punishing me and my baby?!? I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told she was on another call and I would be called back in 2-3 hours. 24 hours later... Still no callback!!! I need to be reimbursed!!!
