The return air fan was broken. It had become dislodged from the wall, bent, and caused the ac not to work. AHS sent Airtronics out to our home to fix the problem. It took them almost an entire month to fix in June (summer) they had to order special parts, and rig together at their shop, a device that houses the box the fan sits in to attach it back to the wall. 1st attempt, the box fell. Upon repair, the tech punctured the gas line which filled the entire house with gas causing my g.son headaches and almost killed our dog. We had to vacate the house for 24 hrs. Airtronics came back three days later, with a welded piece they invented in their shop to re-attach the box with the fan to the wall and replace the gas line.
Fast forward 4 mos. The box has become dislodged from the wall once again due to faulty work done by Airtronics. Our ac no longer works. Because it is past the allotted 60 day grace period for repairs and is at 4 mos. instead of 2 mos, AHS wants us to pay an addt'l $100 service fee to fix something that should not be broken at this point in the first place. Once again, we do not have ac in our hot Texas home. I want the $100 fee waived and the repair completed with urgency. Repairs were done June 15, 2016. The AHS admin person was rude and kept repeating the same things over and over again. Ahs refused to waive fees and insisted that we pay for them to come out to re-fix the same problem caused by their contractor's faulty work.

Our recent repair service call for our shattered glass-top electric range was refused with a "cosmetic" excuse. As the cracks on the glass-top of our range got worst, we worried about the safety when cooking food and had to replace the range altogether. Obviously, the service center's evaluation of the breakage of the glass-top electric range proved to be wrong as the breakage of the glass became worst. Since the glass-top is the main part of the electric range, it should not have been labeled as "cosmetic" and been repaired. With our service call payment of $125 and the replacement cost for a new range, the home warranty service from AHS proved to be useless.
As a paying customer of four years, and one that hardly makes service calls, I am very disappointed with AHS customer service. They never called or sent emails about any of my inquiries or reported any progress. I had to make many calls with a 15 minute average wait time. The customer service rep did not let me talk with a manager and laughed instead.

Our dishwasher stopped working after we smelled a burning smell. We jumped online right away with American Home Shield to report the problem. The website is extremely easy to navigate and fast! We were able to report the problem and schedule an appointment the next day with the service technician who arrived promptly at the scheduled time and in less than an hour - we had a running dishwasher! Can't thank American Home Shield and the service technician enough. Fast, easy and a pleasant experience!

My refrigerator stopped producing ice in mid Sept 2016. We are into end of October. American Home Shield is yet to fix or replace my refrigerator. I've had 2 separate companies send their several of their technicians out to fix the problem of obviously they can't fix my refrigerator. Instead of replacing it I am still getting the runaround. AHS wants me to get another opinion. I still don't a working refrigerator. I have taken time off from work every single time a technician has come out to fix it. I have called customer service every single day to get an update as to what is taking so long to fix or replace my refrigerator. I've spent close to $300 in groceries that went bad from my freezer. I don't have a resolution for my refrigerator yet. I've paid for my policy every month on time. Never had such a awful experience with AHS. I NEED THIS MATTER RESOLVED.

My experience with AHS has been great. One of their subcontractors, Stewart's Appliances, is outstanding. However, there was an HVAC company that did not do a very good job. We had a heatwave come through here in August and my air conditioning was out. They sent a young guy who didn't spend a whole lot of time here. He took a look at the system and my freon pressure was good. He told me that my HVAC system can't keep up with the heatwave that we had and there was nothing to be fixed. Then, he left. About a week later, I called up American Home Shield again and they sent out a different contractor. Lo and behold, it turns out that the power wasn't going out to my fan in the backyard, so they fixed it right away and the air conditioning worked. The first guy was not great, but the second one was really good. I have recommended AHS.

American Home Shield is a fraud. We experienced 3 issues that AHS stated these claims were not covered. Each time we called, we paid our service fee of $125.00 only to be told the repair would not be covered. We felt the warranty was not worth the paper it was written on and cancelled it after 6 months. After paying $711.88 for a 1 year comprehensive coverage plan, we were told our refund is $79.74. AHS charged us $192.50 for the repair orders to repair vendors which we paid $125.00 each time and no repairs (bogus), Admin fee $59.32, prorated cost for 6 months $380.32. DO NOT PURCHASE THRU AHS.

My husband and I purchased this service back in August 2016 because we figured we needed it and seem that this placed had good reviews. Unfortunately, our first request for the leaky bathtub faucet has turned into a much larger nightmare. We have submitted a total of 4 request from August 30th - October 12th in which the faucet knob can no longer be screwed on the tub and there is a large hole in our ceiling from the first diagnostic attempt. Nothing has been resolved and we continue to get the runaround from AHS. I have contacted AHS several times to only hear that they will leave a message with the plumbing company. This issue still hasn't been resolved and that is all we want to have done. We paid the contract in full as well as paid our service fee. I can't believe the run around we are receiving and nobody is able to assist us.

I recently submitted a claim with American Home Shield for the swimming pool pump. The contractor called the next business day and the technician was excellent. In fact, every time we had work done on the pool, I've always requested for the same service provider. There have been a few times where AHS checked his schedule and said that he was unable to come out, but then I've called him and he’s always come out. My experience has been very good. I’ve been with AHS for a long time, and I'm happy with them.

I canceled American Home Shield here in North Carolina, but I still retained it for my house in Florida. I’m gonna cancel that one too when that expires. About a year back, I realized my washer and dryer wasn’t covered. When I called AHS to get it covered, I was told that they cannot do that immediately until I renew my contract. I also have an engineered septic system up here, which I felt like I should have covered and they don't do that. It's gonna be expensive if it goes out so I sought and found a company that covers that and everything else that AHS does, and this company's deductible is only $50. And the new company that I got says, “Cover anything you want, any time you want.”
Moreover, I had service done by one of AHS's contractors on my well problems and water flow issue. I was told politely, “We only handle well pump problems. You have a pressure problem and have to get a real plumber.” That was after the guy came and I had to pay the $75 deductible. They also replaced my pressure tank in which there's nothing wrong with it according to the new guy I found.
Be that as it may, AHS got to be careful in screening their people. When I say I got a water problem, don’t assume that it’s a well problem. Someone should be told, “Ask if it’s a water pressure problem with the well.” If the answer is yes, then tell them politely that you only cover the well problem and not the pressure one. How’s that for the litany of interesting reasons why I’m no longer with AHS? I'm very dissatisfied.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield by phone is very difficult. I have to go through the automated system, which literally takes about 15 minutes. Then if I need to talk to a human person, that may take even longer. A technician normally comes within two days, which is timely depending on what the problem is. If the garbage disposal is broken, it can wait for two days. But if the air conditioning is down, it’s hot and I have babies in the house, two days is not appropriate. I always try to talk to somebody whenever the AC is down because I live in Florida and it gets super hot here in the summer. I have some tenants living in some of the properties that I have and they complain about this.
The interactions with the technicians are fine, but the service is hit and miss. Sometimes the subcontractors that they hire are good, but most of the time they are not qualified to do things especially from the air conditioning experience that I had. It's too difficult to contact a person and even when I do, it’s hard to get other subcontractors that they have on their list considering that there’s an emergency going on. I have five properties with American Home Shield, but I’m considering looking for another business that would provide the same service.

Our most recent claim with AHS was an air conditioning issue with our main primary residence. They were very responsive but I had a bit of an issue with Hoffman, the contractor that they used. The tech who came and identified the problem was fine but I wasn't happy at all with the contractor's customer service. The contractor said it would have been a higher priority for them had we been in the house but we were on the road traveling at that time. They put us on the back burner so we called AHS who followed up and pressed Hoffman to get it taken care of. But I suspect that Hoffman forgot to order a control panel for the entire HVAC system, a $1,000 part. The good news is for the $125 deductible, it got completely taken care of. We were happy with that but disappointed that it took so long. We were without air conditioning for three weeks. I wouldn’t recommend Hoffman for someone looking for a contractor to use.
We just got home from our four and a half months on the road yesterday. We are planning on talking to AHS about that issue with Hoffman. We've been really happy with the contractor that we've been using and had a maintenance contract with for years but they're not one of the vendors that American Home Shield uses. We've recommended AHS to other people who have gone ahead and signed up with them.

I submitted a request to AHS for an outside floodlight which was not working but before making the service request I called to inquire to make sure the light was covered. They said it was so I put in the request to have it repaired. Well apparently the problem was with the sensor which turns on/off the light and AHS declined to repair it because they classified the sensor component as a Home Management System which is not covered in the policy. This is utterly ridiculous. How can they consider the sensor which turns on the light a Home Management System?
The only thing the sensor manages is the light to turn it on an off. This is so frustrating because I pay about for $40 a month for AHS and then pay another $75 for the service call and then they deny the claim for a light that cost about $40 to replace based on some clause which doesn't even seem appropriate to a flood light. When I asked the representative what the definition of a Home Management System was they couldn't even provide me with that information, so it appears to be left up to their own interpretation. Seems like another way of being able to get out of their obligation to fix something which is covered.

The repair under the warranty was to replace a light fixture which was not actually covered, so I spent quite a bit of money. They had to come back to fix their repair and that cost me another $100. I don't blame American Home, but I think the sub contractor they use is below par. The owner yelled at me, called my son a liar and didn't stand behind their work. Not the quality or ethics I expected.

I've put my claim on Sunday night and I got called at 8:00 o’clock the next morning and the technicians came out at 8:30. They're very professional, know what they're doing and they fixed the problem. There was one time that the contractor assigned to me could not get out here within the timeframe. I called AHS back the day after the following day and the rep said they were having a problem finding somebody to do the gas range. I said asked about the refrigerator and she said the earliest a tech could come out would be next month. I asked if I can call somebody local and see if they can repair both. I was told to go ahead and call but I had to let them know who it was. That's what I did.
I called them to get authorization to have the appliances repaired on my own and they would reimburse me. They said yes and they gave me a reimbursement number. When the guy from the service company came out, he had to call AHS and tell them what the problem was. They asked him a bunch of questions, they authorized the repair and he fixed it. We have had AHS coverage most of the past nine years. Overall, I've been satisfied with the co. However, my recent experience has revealed an Achilles heel. It's the time I've had to spend on the phone waiting for someone to answer. Because this can take a while, I submit my service requests online. However, when I've had to report that another attempt is needed to fix a problem and only after I've made that request online, I'm notified that online won't work. I have to call and speak to a representative.
Recently, technicians had to come out six times (yes, 6) before finally stopping water from leaking from my refrigerator. That didn't bother me nearly as much as the aggravation and time wasted on hold waiting to talk to AHS - multiple times (The fridge was still working okay). I timed the wait one time. It was 30 minutes before a live person came on the line, 43 minutes total - to when she said she would call me back after speaking to the service provider.

I can do that when I speak to a representative and that’s the way we follow up. The problem with the representative is that they don’t have enough call takers on duty and it usually means that there's a delay of at least 30 to 45 minutes before I can talk to a call taker. The wait time is long which is one of my biggest complaints. Usually, within 48 hours, a technician contacts us. Sometimes it's within 24 hours. AHS is quite good in making sure of that. Then the technician came and was very good. He checked the system and confirmed that a major component in the air-conditioning had broken down. We were given the option to either repair the unit or do the cash-out option for the equivalent cost of the repair. As the system was 28 years old, we took the cash-out option and replaced the entire system instead. It was a straightforward process and though it took a bit longer than I expected for the cash-out checks to appear, everything went very smoothly.

He was very professional and just came in and did what he had to do. It didn't take very long to do it and he did a great job. It was one of those minor problems that you couldn't use the washer because of what he had to do. I have one thing that covers the whole house with AHS and don't have to worry about anything. I don't like the nickel and dime, extra for this or that, just a blanket price that covers the appliances, plumbing and wiring. I looked on the real estate sales, they said it was going to be $595 per year. I might renew it next year as well.

We had a problem with our air conditioner so we submitted a claim to American Home Shield through phone and the process was very easy. It took about 24 to 48 hours for the contractor to contact us. We had two original technicians that came out and could not fix the problem. It took about over three weeks which happened around summer and that was a very uncomfortable time period. It seemed like they have a lack of knowledge about the system.
The first technician came out and did some stuff. Then it's reverted to another company. The second one came, did some stuff as well, but he couldn’t figure out the system so we called it in. When the technician called in the American Home Shield, he reported that there was no diagnostics in the heat of the summer, so AHS's interpretation of the worst no diagnostics meant that it was fixed when in actuality the technician couldn’t figure it out. We were left in a very hot house initially after that. A third technician came and he was very knowledgeable about what he was doing. He seemed like he was limited in trying to totally resolve it because he had gotten the house to cool, but the cooling temperatures did not reflect what was on the thermostat panel. Their company came back last week and did the panel around Friday. Our air conditioner's been fixed since then.
It seems like some of the assessments of what's fixed or not fixed needed to be re-evaluated by the company. The wording that the technician used in the middle of the summer would mean that the air conditioning was not working. I spoke with someone at management as high as I could speak with and explained to him that if I take a car to a shop and the people there can't figure out what's wrong with its air conditioner, I cannot say that it's fine and just drive away the rest of the summer without it cooling properly. Something is still not right. He understood that, but he had to go with what the technician said and that is no diagnosis.
It seems like AHS is not being locally available or not readily to see someone out. The technicians need to know the impact of what they're saying because if the second technician would have come out and said the same thing then AHS would have said that I'd pay another $75 fee because two people said that there's nothing wrong with it.

My experience with AHS network contractors have been disappointing. It appears some of AHS's contractors have a poor reputation and lack the skills/knowledge to complete repairs. My trust in the service with AHS is tied to the reputation of its contractors and the quality of work. At this time, I will likely not renew my annual contract and put the annual premium into a repair fund.
Example 1: I placed an order to replace a bathroom sink faucet and a leaking bathtub faucet in Summer 2016. The plumber sent by AHS did not perform quality service. He changed the washers in the leaking bathtub faucet with no problem. The bathroom sink faucet was a different story. The plumber was unable to replace the sink faucet due to corrosion and the part was broken. In his attempts to replace the faucet, he cause a leak with the hot water pipe underneath the sink by applying too much torque. I had to call the plumber to come back out to repair the damage. He attempted to fix it but the leak continued. I called AHS and they issued a recall. A different plumber from the same company came out to fix the leak and stated the first plumber did not tighten the washer enough.
The first plumber informed me that AHS would cover a new faucet and labor. However, the first plumber reported to AHS it was due to poor preventative maintenance. AHS informed me they wouldn't cover the new faucet. I told AHS my contract excluded pre-existing conditions, lack of maintenance, and mismatch systems. I had to contact my AHS account manager to explain the situation. I was asked to provide my home inspection to show the bathroom faucet was operating normally. Seven days passed before AHS ruled in my favor. I pick a check for a new faucet over the AHS plumber coming out to finish the job because I didn't trust the plumber to complete the job without issue.
Example 2: The bathtub diverter to the shower stopped working. I placed a service call to AHS. I asked for a different plumber this time. AHS honored my request. After the call, I searched for reviews on the plumber. I found they had a bad reputation and earned a grade of "F" from the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Several reviewers stated, "Don't let AHS send this plumber to your house." The BBB stated the plumber did not have an active contractor license and business license. I canceled my service call and found my own plumber.

My roommate noticed a water spot in the ceiling so we filed a claim with AHS. I reported it on a Friday and it was opened up as a plumbing claim though my roommate wasn't sure if it was plumbing-related or not. The issue was that we requested that a plumbing/AC company be sent out on one call versus second guessing because it could be AC-related, too. On Saturday morning, we had spoken to a plumbing company, then a plumber and said that it wasn't plumbing-related. The plumbing contractor then let AHS know that they should send an AC contractor out instead. So the AC company then came out and handled it.
It could have been handled a bit faster because at that moment we felt it was urgent. We had marked the water spot a certain way to monitor its growth and it was growing. Our problem is that because we don't always have good access online, we have to rely on the landline to call out wherein we wait a little longer. However, then they want us to do stuff electronically which makes me feel like my message would go into the abyss. Besides that, both service contractors were really nice. They were easy to work with and explained everything thoroughly so all of that went under one claim. I would recommend AHS.

I filed an online claim for my garbage disposal replacement. Then I had to call in to get it remedied because they were gonna take a couple of days. It’s easy to do the claim online but I don’t get the personal experience unless I call in. Plus I found out that if I called in, I could’ve gotten the same person we got the last time. It would be good if I could pick who I want to come out whether I call or do the claim online and not just get some random person. Nevertheless, the plumber was great and really nice. He was cordial, courteous, and quick. However, we had to reconnect our dishwasher. He had taken it off to disconnect the old InSinkErator and we had to fix it because it was leaking. It wasn’t quite on there correctly.

My most recent AHS claim was regarding my washing machine that went out. This was the first time we've not had a very good experience. We were without a washing machine for a whole six weeks which was rough. We filed the claim on the phone and the next day the contractor called us and said that it would be a week before someone could come out. Except for one time when we had a plumbing issue and contractors came immediately the next day, it's usually a week before techs could come. Part of it is that there are technicians that AHS uses here in our local area at Central Texas but AHS always sends technicians from an hour and a half away in the Dallas or Austin area.
When the techs finally came out to check the washing machine, they needed to order a part so they could fix it which was gonna take another week. When they said that, we thought we could handle the issue for the first two weeks. But then they never showed up the day they said they were coming to fix it. That was very disconcerting because that was our grandson's birthday. They said they'd be there between eight and five and the party was at six so we felt that we'd make it. But as it got closer to five o'clock, we haven't heard from them so we called and they said they're on their way. We live out in the country and maybe that's why they're late so we thought we'd gonna hang on. Then my husband stayed and I went to the birthday party. After nine o'clock that night, they had not come. However, every time we talk to someone they said they're on their way.
The next day, we called the consumer line and said that surely techs could come today because they were reserved from yesterday but they told us that it would be two more weeks. That was hard to deal with. Then when they came back after four weeks, different technicians came and brought the wrong parts. When these techs looked at it, they realized that it couldn't be fixed. Then finally it was determined that it needed to be replaced so we called AHS. When we finally got to where we talked to somebody about the replacement, they said the replacement is gonna be two to three weeks. We told them that we can't do that, that they let us buy one and that they'd replace whatever they're gonna replace with an amount of money.
We ended up doing that and the person that we talked to then was very good. She called us back twice. We had a really good experience at that point when we did the replacement part. They did replace a certain amount which wasn't gonna cover what the machine was worth or what we had to replace it with but at least we got a new machine. We're on the go now. We're glad we hung in there.
After that, we were gonna cancel but we decided to go ahead and keep our AHS warranty because our other experiences have been good. I have still recommended it to other people. But another issue about American Home Shield lately for the last two years is that if I called on the phone, I'd be on hold for an hour and a half at least and if I ever hang up I start all over again. So it's a very long process and sometimes, I don't ever get someone. Also sometimes, when I finally talk to somebody, they tell me the same thing as the one before. Then they'd put me on hold for another hour. My mother who finally has AHS as well waited on the phone for two hours the last time she called. She was in tears that time as she had to wait that long and her whole life was on hold hoping somebody will talk to her. And she can't do it online.
When my husband finally filed online, we got a response email. Then when we were doing the replacement, we got a number wherein we can talk to a person. That helped. We then told that man to fix their phone line so I can talk to somebody instead of waiting for an hour and a half. The phone issue is a serious problem with American Home Shield.

We are currently awaiting the 5th repair on my Samsung French Door, counter-depth refrigerator (RF23HCEDBSR/AA) purchased in January 2015. It has had the same problem 4 previous times in less than 2 years. Each repair temporarily fixed the refrigerator, but the problem returned after a month or two. I currently have an open service request with AHS. I am told that the parts are on backorder from Samsung with a 1 to 2 month delay. After 4 tries I have no confidence that the problem will be repaired.
I cannot live with a refrigerator that is not working properly for 1 to 2 months. Aside from the inconvenience, this is a health and safety risk. A health risk because the food may spoil and a safety risk because the tech AHS sent out said that he smelled smoke from the board on the back of the refrigerator. The noise of the fan hitting the ice is so loud that it is impossible to talk in the kitchen and it awakes us at night. So, if it doesn't catch fire, or let all the food spoil, it will ruin our sleep.
This refrigerator needs to be replaced. Yesterday, the AHS service rep suggested that I contact their Appliance Purchasing department that handles replacing "lemons" and transferred me to the department. I immediately heard a recording saying that "they were experiencing wait times in excess of 5 minutes." After 1 hour and 11 minutes on hold I hung up. I sent an email to appliancesupport@AHSlink.com laying out the problem. A response came back saying that they would contact me "as soon as possible." No response so far. I called back later yesterday and was cut off. I called back today and after 51 minutes on hold received a message saying that they were experiencing technical difficulties and could not "process" my call, and the call was ended. I immediately called back, and am now on hold again - 41 minutes and counting.

I had a problem with my air conditioner. I called American Home Shield to file a claim, which was easy, and then I had to call the next day because I didn’t receive a call within the 24-hour period. I had a problem with the first technician. I was only supposed to pay $100 for the tech fee, but he charged me twice that amount, which was an unexpected cost. He told me there were ants and AHS said that because I didn't take care of the product, the tech may charge me an additional fee.
My air conditioner also stopped working again so I had to call back a week later and AHS sent out another technician, who was able to explain what the problem was and did a temporary fix. He made another visit and made a more permanent fix. The AC has been working better. The tech recommended that we change our filter because I had another little problem again, and he came back out and told us to 6make sure we keep our filters clean. So once I replaced my filter, it's working again.

All they do is charge you $75 to send someone out to tell you it's not covered. Got this "warranty" with my house, called numerous times, and either told it's not covered, or got overcharged for the actual service rendered. Want a synopsis?
Call #1 - pool heater not working... told it's not covered. Cost: $75. Called another company outside the warranty. Tech said the heater is tricky and requires training to learn how to work on it, and the guy AHS sent out probably didn't know how to work on it, so he just tried to sell me a new one. Nothing wrong with it that would not be covered under warranty. Cost to me: $200 (not including the $75 AHS charged me for the guy that didn't know what he was doing). Called AHS. They said no discussion allowed as it was already denied, and even now that it's fixed out of my own pocket, they would not cover any future repairs if necessary.
Call #2 - sewer smell, leaky faucets, possible slab leak. Fixed faucets, told smell was not covered. I was getting ready to lay down a new tile floor, and guy said there was no slab leak, so I laid the new floor. Sewer smell persists, and a plumber I paid for out of my own pocket verified that there is actually a slab leak. Now I have to rip up my new floor to fix it. (Probably not covered). Call #3 - water softener (installed with house) leaking... not covered.
Call #4 - upstairs A/C not cooling. Told it was low on freon. No other diagnostic completed, even when requested (where did the freon go, Einstein?). He put a few pounds of freon in at $35/lb warranty covers only $5/lb... out of MY pocket - ~$150. Tried to sell me a new system. Could have got it cheaper without the warranty. Notice a pattern here? Each time, they send out somebody to do a half-baked job and charge me $75. And it just ends up costing me more, because I have to go find my own people to actually do the work. It's a scam, pure and simple. Scam.

AHS contracts with substandard repair people. Communication is sorely lacking. Sometimes repair people have shown up without notifying me that they had been assigned to the job. I had an emergency water/leak issue in my home. 4 days later a service person was assigned. By that time I had to have a true professional come out and repair the problem. Of course, reimbursement was out of the question. Next, my dishwasher broke. Repair people couldn't respond for 2 weeks. Then, they didn't have the correct part. A month later they fixed the appliance but left without anchoring it to the cabinets. They returned and did so.
Most recently, a cable on my garage door snapped. AHS sent a repair person out, but no appointment was ever scheduled. He showed up at my house and then called me at my work. Of course, I couldn't just leave. He let himself in and said he would contact me to set up a follow-up appointment. The problem is that I threw away the snapped cable as it was a hazard... sharp wire sticking out of it. AHS won't replace the cable that was obviously not repairable. Apparently their customers snap their garage door cables just to enjoy the hassle of dealing with AHS and their repair people. The BBB site shows 2% customer satisfaction with 98% being dissatisfied. Save your money and don't count on AHS for any semblance of professionalism.

Their very qualified service tech came out this morning. He said my air-conditioning system was a mess and in serious need of repair. It's going to be very expensive but he said that 90% of the duct work would need to be replaced and that the unit itself in the upstairs attic is damaged and needs to be replaced. I complained to AHS about that and they allowed me to change.
My only complaint though is that the wait time to get to a human being on the phone is outrageous which is a downer. I've talked to AHS, even contractors about it. That's when I got online but on this particular claim they didn't offer me a choice online to deal with it so I ended up having to call. One of my biggest complaints with this company (and this is probably common to other home warranty similar services) is that if something breaks that is covered, they are not required to replace or repair with the same make/model - or even same finish - of item. So for example if you have a fancy, top brand a/c unit in your house and it breaks, they are not required to replace it with the same brand. Or your high end refrigerator, or your... whatever. For example in my case I had an expensive Kohler hand shower that the hose broke on. After paying a $75 service call fee they brought out a different brand and different looking hose. By the terms of the warranty I either had to accept it, or take their cash-out offer of $134 in lieu of repair (after I'd already paid the $75 service call fee). I found the exact right replacement hose on Amazon for $45 so ordered it.
I also took the $135 cash out offer so at the end of the day I'm ahead of the game, but that's just how it worked out in my scenario with a simple item I could replace myself. I would have been highly po'd had they tried to replace my high end a/c unit with an off name brand that didn't match the surrounding finishes. Additionally a lot of repairs are excluded but you have to read the fine print to know that. At the end of the day, for a "DIY" guy like myself, I think I'll come out ahead in the long run by rolling the dice and not having a home warranty.

AHS denied a claim based on a false statement made by their contractor in CA, Southwest Pool & Spa Repair. They failed to unbiasedly review the case. According to AHS, coverage for the repair of my pool heater was denied "due to the chlorinator being installed and the unit was missing a check valve causing the failure of the unit" based on a diagnosis by your contractor, Southwest Pool and Spa Repair. I originally contacted AHS on 5/24/16 because my jacuzzi would not heat. After numerous failed attempts to repair it, Southwest came out again on 6/29 and then claimed the front header was leaking caused by a missing check valve.
On or around 7/15/16, AHS informed me of the denial of coverage because of "the missing check valve" and suggested that Southwest Pool could replace the leaking front header and install a check valve at a cost to me of $340. AHS also informed me that I would need to install a check valve to have my pool warranty continue. On AHS advise, I hired Southwest Pool and Spa to do so at a cost of $340. They said they would order the parts and would let me know when they came in to schedule the repair. My pool guy, Matt ** from Earth Pool Services disagreed with Southwest Pool's diagnosis based on the facts I already had a jandy universal check valve on the inlet side. Matt believes the header was leaking due to its age (14 years) and rust from living at the beach which would constitute normal wear and tear.
Matt pointed out that the entire heater was rusted out, not just the header and the chemicals from the chlorinator could not be responsible for rusting out the entire heater. I relayed his opinion to AHS. After not hearing from Southwest Pool and numerous failed attempts to reach them, I was finally informed the header was not available anywhere and that I would have to replace the whole heater at a cost of $2600 including the install of the check valve. I called AHS to request a second opinion and James from Pool and Spa Maintenance by James came out to diagnose the problem on around 8/11. He told me the entire heater needed to be replaced, not just the leaking header. I asked if he thought it was from normal wear and tear and he said yes.
I received a phone call from AHS the next day again denying my coverage and was told that James blamed the missing check valve for the damage. I immediately called James because he did not tell me that the day before. James stated that when he spoke to AHS by phone there was no mention of a check valve. He said AHS asked him a few questions such as "was the header leaking?" and "did the heater need to be replaced?" He said AHS usually goes by the 1st opinion. The AHS reps notes contradicts what James said to me. Left with no option, I agreed to have Southwest Pool, AHS's contractor, install a new heater and check valve on 8/18/16 for $2600. When my pool guy, Matt, from Earth Pool Services came to clean my pool the next day, he called me to say that Southwest Pool simply replaced the jandy universal check valve I already had installed. Matt assumed they were putting the new valve on the outlet side.
I immediately called the Southwest Pool technician to point out that my claim with AHS was denied due to the fact that he said I was missing a check valve, yet he replaced a check valve that was already in place. He changed his story to say that the jandy universal check valve he replaced was for a saltwater system; not chlorine, and only prevented back pressure not chemical damage. 3 different sources have told me that the jandy universal check valve is chlorine resistant and serves the same purpose as the new check valve installed.
I called and urged AHS to ask Southwest Pool if they replaced a check valve I already had in place, and Southwest Pool admitted that was the case, but AHS said they couldn't help me because both Southwest and James, who gave the 2nd opinion both "said" the check valve was missing. Southwest Pool is an agent of AHS. AHS denied coverage of my pool heater due to that admitted false statement. AHS should cover my claim.

I have two air conditioners and both went out within a week. I submitted the claim over the phone because I wanted a specific serviceman. I’ve had real good luck with one company and they came out and did a good job. I pay them a yearly fee to upkeep the thing so it makes sense to have them come out and fix it when it breaks. The representatives have been pretty good too. I had one bad problem and it was the vendor coming out, not American Home Shield. But AHS did the best they could and ended up giving me $100 credit.

I have had some difficulties in filing my claims with American Home Shield because the phone line isn't user-friendly. It's better than it was and I can submit online but it's difficult to get through to a person when I make a phone call and there's a wait time. I also had bad experiences two years ago with the contractors they sent out and I was ready to change my home warranty company. But they've improved a lot recently and I've been really happy with the ones who came. In fact, the last contractor they sent out was very nice. Unfortunately, they weren't able to provide a contractor to repair the air conditioning due to the volume of work that they had, at the time, to the local contractors in the summer. I ended up having to hire someone by myself to get my ac repaired because I couldn't go four days without air conditioning in there.

We’ve been very happy with American Home Shield's service. We call them and let them know what our problem is, give them all the information that we can, and they’d write everything down. Then they inform the company that is coming out about our situation, and within 24 hours, that company calls us and makes an appointment. We pay them $75, they fix our issues, and that’s all we pay. We’ve had a lot of different companies and we’ve been very happy with what they’ve done and the way they are.

We have been customers of American Home Shield since 2005. We have been very satisfied with them until our AC unit decided to quit. My wife has a heart condition and can not take a lot of hot temperatures. It is supposed to be 90 degrees for the next 2 days and the parts will not be here for 3 days. AHS was asked if they would cover any expense for a motel room be it is so hot and they said it would not be approved because it would be fixed in a few days. According to the lady that I spoke with she said it was only supposed to be in the mid-80s for the next 2 days and that was not too hot to deal with until the parts were installed. Will be seeking a different home warranty company.

Just purchased a home that came with an American Home Shield plus 1 year warranty. After spending one night in my new home the hot water went out. I called American Home Shield and they sent a local plumbing company out to check the hot water heater. The plumber found out that the upper heating element went out so he called American Home Shield, reported the issue and claim denied. I'm not really surprised, after researching about them before purchasing the home. This seems to be a common issue with them getting out of paying every chance they get. So glad the seller wasted their money on this warranty and not me or I'd really be pissed. Don't waste your money or time with this company.

I signed up with AHS 3 months ago. Today, after waiting over 30 minutes to put in a repair request, I found out the water softener system for my house is NOT covered. I was transferred 3 times and told that I had to ask to have this system covered, when I enrolled in their service. But when I signed up, I was told all major components and appliances are covered under AHS' warranty services. One woman told me I could cancel my existing contract and create another one, having the water softener added. Of course then I would have to wait the initial 30-day waiting period again.
After being transferred again, I was told that I could not add the water softener system, because they stopped covering those two months ago. A month AFTER I signed up. And I was told that the system has to be in working order when I sign up for a contract. Their computer system was slow today also, so it took them time to look up the information. Seems like the support representatives do not know what the sales people sell, nor do they know the terms of your contract. Doubt I will renew my contract when my year is up.

In early September 2016, my husband initiated a service request online with American Home Shield for a repair on our dryer. Request stated we would hear back from a contractor in 24 hours, which did not happen. After 48 hours, we initiated contact through an email to Home Tech Appliances which was who American Home Shield referred us to. Shortly thereafter we received a call scheduling an appointment for 9/10/2016 to diagnose the problem. The technician showed up, took the dryer apart, left the pieces in the dryer drum and stated parts needed to be ordered. He collected our $75 and said they would contact us within 3 to 5 business days to schedule a follow up appointment to repair or replace the dryer.
We never received a call, so on September 15, 2016 we called Home Tech Appliances and left a voice mail and also sent a text message directly to the technician. Two other emails were sent trying to reach the technician or the company... NO RESPONSE. On Sept 26, 2016 my husband called American Home Shield and after being on hold for 30 minutes was able to connect with a customer service rep and stated his complaint and was then disconnected. Shortly after he received an email from Home Tech Appliances stating they were ordering parts. On October 3, 2016 I called American Home Shield myself twice. The first call I spoke to Jackie and asked to speak to a supervisor. She ignored my request and asked why I was calling. She told me she would check into it (she was unable to contact Home Tech Appliances... welcome to my world) and I would get a callback.
Never received a call, so I called back and spoke to someone else at 5:50 pm that same afternoon. Still no resolution so I asked to be called back by the next day. I called back Oct 4, 2016 at 12:22 since no one called me back and I spoke to Kiara. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She asked if she could try to resolve the issue and I agreed to give her a shot. After placing me on hold she came back and stated that she had good news. The parts were in and they could fix the dryer the next day.
I am waiting to see if this happens but am shocked at the lack of customer service by the contracted company and frankly with American Home Shield for not following up on complaints and for hiring a company who does not respond to messages, emails, or texts. It should not take 3 weeks to order parts and the lack of communication is appalling. This was our first service request using our home warranty and we are very dissatisfied. This review is my first expression of outrage. I will also be contacting my real estate agent to recommend they not use this company and well as the Insurance Commission in my state if the dryer is not fixed.

My bathroom exhaust fan stopped working over 2 months ago. I called AHS and they forwarded the case to a contractor quickly. When the contractor came, he looked at the fan and told me there are too many dust inside and I needed do service maintenance on it every 6 months or otherwise AHS won't cover any fixes. I was like, "WHAT?" I never heard anyone do services on bathroom exhaust fan. The fan is installed inside the ceiling and of course there are dust. It's not like AC I can change filter or like kitchen exhaust fan I can take the part out to wash every 6 months.
Then I asked him in this case do I need 6 months services on the shower and toilet in order to be covered by AHS and he said yes. He collected the $100 service fee and left and he closed the case. He didn't even bother to take the fan down and check the problem. I called AHS again and seem that contractor just closed the case without stating any reason. Then AHS created a new service request to the same contracting company. They sent a different guy and this guy took the fan down and disassemble everything to take the motor out. He checked and confirmed the motor is burned and need to be replaced. He left and told me he will need to order the part.
I waited over a week but didn't hear anything, so I called them and first they told me they are still waiting for the part but then they called me back and told me they already got the part and I scheduled the third appointment with them. But unfortunately, on the day an hour before the appointment, the contractor called me and told me AHS does't cover the cost because they couldn't find the same motor and they need modification which I need to pay $200 out of my pocket. I was surprised that the fan only cost $100 something and they wanted to spend $200 to modify it. I called AHS again and told this to them. They submit another request but this time with a different contracting company. I set up the 4th appointment.
The contractor came and told me he needed to order part then he left. After a week without hearing anything, I called AHS. The contractor couldn't find the part and again asked me to pay additional $200 to modify the fan. The contractor didn't specify what modification he's trying to do and I called many time to AHS to follow up. It has been over 2 months since I place the first service request. The exhaust fan still not been fixed. And even worst, the contractor has taken the fan down and didn't put it back so now there is a big hole on the bathroom ceiling. I have been calling AHS 10 times regarding this. It took me an hour every time I call them.
Every time I called AHS for the follow up and they told me would call me back in 72 hours or next day, but it only happened once out of 5 times. I told them to cash out the money last week and I will find someone else to fix the problem. I am still waiting for them to call me back to see how much they cover. But I have a feeling they will pay cheap. The fact is contractors try to overestimate the price and home warranty try to under pay. I am very tired to keep on calling the contractor and home warranty. I have taken 4 days off in order to wait for the contractor at home. It's not worth to spend that much time and still not having an easy fan fixed for 2+ months.

The last claim I had with American Home Shield was when a plumber came out to fix my sink. The stopper in the sink wouldn’t work and there was some other issue with the sink. He put some new parts on and it seemed like he fixed it at the time and have done a good job. However, I’m having problems with that stopper again. When I push it, it doesn’t want to go up and down although I don't have a leak or anything like that. It was always hard to pull up and down after the plumber left, but I thought it was just because it’s new. I don’t know what’s wrong with it, so I don’t know if he did a very good job fixing it. But he came in a timely manner and I'm happy with the service overall.

Dishwasher broke on August 29, 2016. Called AHS the next day and they sent out an appliance company that failed to show up and when they did show up they had a miscommunication with AHS on ordering parts which set my job back nearly 1 week. After the appliance company received the go ahead to order and install my parts they deemed my dishwasher to be unrepairable. By this time it's been 2 weeks. AHS did approve a replacement washer and here is when the story gets a little strange...
Was sent an email and received a phone call stating I would have several choices and the job would be wrapped up by the end of the week. That was on a Monday and customer service said I'd receive a link to my choices in a few minutes. 48 hours later I received the link. I responded 3 hours later and Wednesday night sent my selection. Received an email that said they would respond to me in order of when they received my response. 5 full days later, 2 emails and over 3 hours of phone calls, nothing!!!
You can't get through because their phone line states they are extremely busy and you will have over a 5 minute wait. Got through Friday night after waiting 30 minutes but the person I spoke with said she couldn't help since I didn't call correct department. So here I sit 5 plus weeks with no dishwasher and not able to contact this horrid company. They have no problem collecting my $300 + each year though. Safe to say I'll be canceling my policy very soon. Worst customer service I've ever experienced in my adult life. If you are that busy where you can't answer phones hire more staff. I will never recommend this company to anyone again.

I've been an AHS customer for 10 years. One of the primary reasons I chose them was that the ServicePlus package included coverage for permits and code violations. My water heater just went out and I see that my contract changed with the last annual renewal. I still have the serviceplus package, but it excludes permits and code violations. This is a $380 cost difference. That cost plus my contract exceeds what I would have had to pay without a contract. Yes, that makes this contract worthless!

The fan wasn't working and it shortened out a motor. A contractor came by, figured out the problem, and took care of it. We called AHS last week to talk to us about a plumbing problem that we thought we had in the master bedroom's bath-toilet area. Making a claim was easy. However, we weren't particularly happy with the plumber. He was pleasant, but I don't think he did the job that he was supposed to have done. He said he'd been a plumber for 25 years but he couldn't find out what the leak was and where it was coming from. He decided that it was the flapper, and so he changed the flapper and said, "This is good for 90 days, call back if there's any problem." Then, he went down to the basement. He looked in the cross base that's under the toilet and the bathroom, but he did not climb in to see if there was any water. We had wet carpets around the toilet area and so there was water somewhere obviously. He thought that the water had overflowed the bowl, but it never happened.
Because we had water damage, we had to call a restoration company and when they came out the next day, they took the toilet off, which the plumber never did. That's when they noticed that there was water seeping under the tile and the carpet in that area. The water had seeped out evidently under the wax seal underneath the tiles and created all that problem. Now, we have the bathroom completely torn up and the toilet is out and we've had three days of fans going in that room. The plumber didn't do due diligence to determine the cause of the problem. So I've been dissatisfied and would not recommend the plumber to anybody. In a way, I would think that I should get my $75 back, but I know that’s not gonna happen. On the other hand, American Home Shield has been fine.

When someone finally answers they are so rude and do not care about you or your problem. It takes days up to weeks up to almost a month to get someone to come fix the problem. I will never use this company again nor would I recommend this company to my worst enemy.
The company doesn't care about you and will not help you solve your problem. Don't waste your money, you're better off paying full price to get your problem fixed because AHS will send someone out 5-7 times before the problem is fixed and then you will be out the money to fix their problem. Not a very reliable company and customer service needs better training on how to actually do customer service.

It's easy to make a call to file a claim though sometimes the people that are scheduling are not as flexible as I would like. However, the contractors have always been professional and seem to know what they're doing once they're out there.
One issue is sometimes, AHS is slow in realizing that one can only fix something so many times and after a while, it doesn't even pay for us to have the contractors come out. When we had a problem with the washing machine, techs kept trying to fix it. We had to pay $75 a pop when they come out even if the washing machine can be replaced for $300 or $350. We were not really gaining by continuing to beat a dead horse. Finally, we went ahead and bought a washing machine. I've been having an ongoing issue with my 4 year old GE microwave. The microwave stopped working, I sent in my request to AHS (as I have a contract), I received a call from the initial repair provider (ACE) about 48 hours after I submitted a request, like most consumers I was busy and had to call them back. It took approximately 1 more week for the first company to call back after I had called numerous times. I told AHS I didn't want to give business to a repair provider if they didn't want to take the time to return my call and I would like to just schedule with GE, AHS informed me all would be fine and the appointment was scheduled.
The company arrived at the scheduled date and noted they weren't sure what the issues and order numerous parts (yes, they were flying blind and guessed at the issue). A week later they came back and they didn't order the correct parts and said that they couldn't help and AHS would need to call a different company. So AHS got a hold of GE and now I am scheduling visit number 4 with GE to get my microwave repaired. That's a total of 6 times that I've had to meet with a technician. AHS informed me until the technician notes that he/she can't repair it anymore then they will replace it. So, I will need to make a 7th appointment to have my microwave replaced.
Also, "read the fine print in your contract" is what the AHS agent said to me when I asked if they could schedule a weekend appointment and was told "AHS schedule during normal business hours Monday thru Friday." I'm also, writing this review because the individual on the chat window logged off the chat when I asked to speak to a manager and I tried waiting on hold for 25 minutes with no response. I would highly consider a different warranty company because if your product isn't able to be repair you will need to plan a solid 2 month to have it replaced.

I've owned my home now for 5 yrs, also having AHS since day 1, never missing a payment. I've needed to call twice, both times my calls were answered quickly. The 1st time, the company sent to my home told me that the issue at hand was not covered under my policy. I was given a quote & chose to go with a different company due to cost. 90-degree heat with no HVAC is HELL! A week later AHS contacted me telling me that that company was incorrect & it was covered. Hundreds of dollars had been spent! It took me MONTHS to get the cost returned. 2nd time, AHS sent out a company promptly the next day. A nice man came & inspected the HVAC. He then advised us that due to the age of the HVAC (13 yrs) & the cost of the R22 that we needed a new 1. He told us that there was a pin sized hole in the copper line, that all of the coolant leaked out & the HVAC had no pressure in it.
He wrote up a quote for $6,200 & told us to go buy a few window units to tide us over. He even told us what size & what windows to place them in. The next am I called AHS, they hadn't received his notes yet. I explained that I had a copy of what he wrote up. I then called a different office for a 2nd opinion. This man came the next day, inspected everything, took pictures & discussed his findings. The HVAC had 30 lbs of pressure, the compressor & unit had not been affected & were in good shape, the pin-sized hole had been made larger by what appeared to be a flathead screwdriver. He suggested fixing the hole & refilling the R22. $1000. Later that afternoon I again called AHS, an extremely rude woman argued with me saying that the company they sent out to us did not give us an estimate for a new HVAC. She also told me that we would not be reimbursed for the fee for the 2nd opinion & that they were not in network with them.
I explained that I didn't want that, that I was much more concerned that their in network company advised me to get a completely new HVAC. I asked if there were notes from the man that came. There were she said & that it suggested repairs only. I have a carbon copy of it!!! In hand!!! I'd even offered to fax it the 1st time I called after it was 1st inspected. We are choosing to go with the 2nd opinion purely out of honesty principles. The $48 a month isn't worth the trouble, it has not saved me my peace of mind & I do not have to take being spoken to in that way when I'm not arguing with you. I'm asking legitimate questions that no one wants to answer. I will advise everyone I know to not go with this company, or the company sent out to inspect! I will not be scammed or taken advantage of!

I had a plumbing claim with American Home Shield and everything went really smoothly. As soon as I knew of a problem, I contact their office and they gave the name of a contractor within the day, which I contact and then have an appointment scheduled with them. As far as the appointment, it’s scheduled right away. The contractor who came was very good, has a good level of customer service, very helpful, fixed the problem, and made a follow up call. The plumbing has been operative and good since the repair. I'm satisfied with the service and the warranty as a whole.

In our latest call to AHS, they sent out people to investigate a water leak in my attic that might have come from my HVAC system. The technicians they sent out were awesome. They inspected every little nook and cranny in my attic to see if they could resolve the problem. It ended up being just a condensation collection in my exhaust fan because of the difference in temperature inside the house and the humidity outside. But they made sure that they troubleshot everything in my attic related to my HVAC system.
The last two or three times I had to call in for some work to be repaired in my house, everyone has been above grade. The trades have gone from plumbing, to electrical, to HVAC, and everyone who came out listened to what I was trying to explain regarding my issue. They were able to help me, and every time they left the house, everything was resolved, even if it was an underlying problem that was different from what I originally called in for. Overall, I had a super fantastic experience with American Home Shield.

I had a great experience with three claims I had with American Home Shield. It’s a lot easier to schedule online than it is to call. Sometimes I'm on hold forever, so I do everything online. I’ve dealt with four different technicians for different groups. The first one was plumbing for a range and I loved the guy. The company was very nice. They said that my range was not fixable, which I wasn’t so worried about because it was covered by the insurance, but AHS got Sears to come out and they were able to fix it and were much more knowledgeable than the original guy that came out. I had no problems with the original guy, but I felt much better when the two men from Sears showed up the second time. They really knew what they were doing.
My electrical experience has been amazing. The guy was very nice, professional, very detailed, would not do any work with making sure everything was covered beforehand because even though customers told him to go ahead and do the work, AHS apparently denied the claim. They ended up having to pay for it and he was very upfront and honest saying he didn’t want to do any work until he knew that it was covered, or if it wasn't covered and I wanted the work done, he was able to give me a quote. He was great.
We had another plumbing experience, which was very interesting. We had a problem with the tub faucet coming off, and I called AHS. They sent a gentleman out who was very nice. He looked at it and said it's a Delta fixture, and AHS will never replace it with the same quality. He added that I have a lifetime warranty on Delta and I should get it replaced. He could certainly come back and fix it for me. He told me he wasn't going to charge me because it was useless. I understand there’s a service call charge but AHS denied the claim because they said that we were forceful and broke it, which was not the case at all. When I called AHS to question it, the person I spoke to was not very pleasant. It wasn't necessarily a bad experience. It was just not the truth and I struggled with it as I was told I wasn’t telling the truth and that I had a real issue with. Other than that, I'm happy with AHS.

My wife and I recently purchased a home and pay a bit extra for the Home Essential coverage which included "coverage" for the furnace so they said. Our furnace turned out to be more than 34 years old and was very rusty. We had a HVAC inspector from Air Plus to inspect and he told us it is on the verge of emitting carbon monoxide because all the vents were so old and damage. We called American Home Shield and requested a repair. American Home Shield charged $75 to send a tech out to inspect (Air Plus is all free) and then to have them tell us that it is not covered because the furnace is not broken. So now we either have to pay $4,200 for a new furnace or risk being exposed carbon monoxide. I would advise everyone to be careful with purchasing home warranty with this company.
Updated on 12/19/2016: I received a generic response from American Home Shield about a review I written regarding our furnace not covered because it was not broken while it was at risk of emitting carbon monoxide. The response was from D ** stating the company will follow up with the complaint. I never received the follow up as promised. You can see all the complaints listed on their site and a generic response from D ** stating he/she will follow up. This company is absolutely horrible. They do not deliver what they promised. Please do not purchase their service!

Was a brand new customer awaiting my contract to activate when my water heater went out to the evening that the activation was to occur. I called to get an emergency quote without them having sent me the contract yet or confirmation of start although date of activation was day I needed their support. Waited 25 minutes on phone and set up a work order number for local plumber to come out later that day. Gave me a 3 hour window and came at last possible time after long wait 3 hours into waiting. Two Russian plumbers from On time plumbing and they did nothing. They came in a truck no plumbing supplies and just took serial number and told me to wait an hour for AHS to call on getting it fixed and they charged me my deductible of $100 which I paid thinking they would fix or replace my water heater per the new warranty. Well I did get a call on my machine saying they denied the claim and it would be $1600 to replace the water heater.
I called the authorization department and again had to wait for 25 minutes and they said it was a pre-existing condition which they would not cover which was absolutely not true. I was promised a second opinion from another plumber and a call back in 1 hour as I had no hot water in house. They did not call back so 2 hours later I called back and this time had to wait 35 minutes to talk to a manager who did nothing to help me.
I called the retention department next day and waited 25 minutes again to cancel the policy that just started, had to stop payment on my check to the plumbing company that did not help me and now have to use my own plumber and pay to get water heater replaced. Their warranty Combo plan evidently has many holes in contract where they can refuse to replace a unit even if it is aging so I highly recommend you do not use their warranty program as they are dishonest, use bad providers, and have absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I wasted hours trying to rectify this unusual problem as it happened right as my policy was activated and they said it happened months ago but who lives without hot water for months. Not ME!!!

My Air Condition recently went out on one of the hottest August 2016 days in California. I called American Home Shield for service and although they have one of the most professional staff and courteous customer service people who answer your calls, they sent me out some BOZO company that gave me a diagnosis over the phone. The company asked if I had pets. I told them I had a dog and the tech proceeded to tell me (once again over the phone) the coils were bad on my unit because of dog urination. The "Einstein" never asked if my dog was male or female in which case, My dog is female. He seemed to have a bad attitude over the phone so I called American Home Shield and told them I did not want this company to come to my home.
American Home Shield told me I had no choice as it was in their system for the company to come the NEXT DAY and they couldn't change it. When the tech arrived, he took one look and said I needed a new Air/Heating system as mine is outdated and the coils on the AC were damaged. I showed where the coils were holding pressure and although they were physically scarred, they still worked with no leaks and held the freon. I showed where it had to be the AC compressor (As was advised by another reputable company). He said it was due to my animal urination and the irrigation system and I said nothing as the idiot never noticed I had no irrigation or sprinkler system in the back of my house.
He then proceeded to add a new motor or something in the heater he claimed need to be replaced immediately, accepted the $125.00 service call fee that I am obligated to pay from American Home Shield and wrote his report with the animal and irrigation system. When American Home Shield denied me because of the report, I reminded them how this serviceman acted like a 'Pig" over the phone and I wanted nothing to do with him then showed the photos of my "Female" dog and Backyard that has no irrigation or sprinklers. They then offered me a second opinion and I asked for a reputable company and they said I had to use their company. They sent the company who immediately diagnosed the problem as a unit that should be covered and replaced.
Here's where the problem begins. American Home Shield advertisement says they will replace your unit but has many secret escape clauses. They will give you a unit of their choice but you will have to pay basically for everything else. Example, once my claim was approved, I received a bill of just under $2,800.00 from their contractor. If I did not know better, I would have paid but I understood the prices of the items and that of the city ordinance permits. The contractors were heavily inflating all prices to cover the cost American Home Shield was deducting from them so they could stay in American Home Shield's good graces and receive more referrals. In other words, American Home Shield hires companies that will work for little money knowing they can recover cost from American Home Shield's unsuspecting customers WITH WHOM THEY SHOULD BE PROTECTING!
When I made this complaint about the company and was able to back it up with the invoice the company sent me, American Home Shield said they would not send a 3rd company but they would offer a buyout for $3,026.00. Please keep in mind that American Home Shield approved my claim after the second company visited then American Home Shield forced me to accept another fly by night company (that was not reputable in reviews from yelp to consumer reports) to try to rip me off with items not necessary for repairs. The payout they sent could have covered a cheap air conditioner/heating unit but did not cover the labor which I paid an extra $4,000.00. the extra $1,200.00 I paid was worth it as this was a respected company and I felt safe with them unlike I do now with American Home Shield.
Be careful of American Home Shield as they will only be helpful if you have minor repairable needs. You will be satisfied with American Home Shield and give them 5 stars if you are in this category but it still might be cheaper to do it yourself without American Home Shield as you have monthly payments and a MANDATORY SERVICE CALL PAYMENT to make to the contractors they send you regardless if they work or not. On the other hand, if something completely breaks and needs to be replaced, WATCH YOUR BACKS!
American Home Shield protects themselves by their completely legal contract but misleading advertisements of coverage. As consumers, we are not technicians or mechanics and we don't understand the jargon of the repairs that need to be made therefore we don't understand what is covered. When American Home Shield says they will replace any covered item, I do not expect an extra $2,800.00 bill from the companies they forced me to use.

When I bought a house that was built in 1970 and almost entirely original, I knew there would be some issues that didn't turn up on the inspection, so I was happy to see the sellers were including a warranty through American Home Shield. The only thing I had to cover were the add-on costs for the spa, well, and septic. A few days after moving in, the water level in the spa dropped to a level where loud gurgling woke us up at night. After topping it off, I checked out the equipment closet and saw water pouring from the middle of the heater. AHS sent out a technician who confirmed my worst fear - the heat exchanger was disintegrating and this 36 year old heater was going to have to be replaced. He made me a little leery when he said he was going to put in a bid to replace it with a much smaller heater because he didn't want to be outbid by another contractor.
Sure enough, AHS sent out someone else for a second opinion (and I thought it would just be for the second bid like the first guy said). Imagine my surprise when the second company scheduled the replacement of the heater, slightly *larger* than the one we had in there, plus the blower that had gone out that the first guy didn't want to include on his bid. Not only that, they also redid the gas line that had been done improperly and added a larger vent to the shed enclosure for safety. AHS clearly chose the company that would do it right over the guy trying to get in the lowest bid.
A few months later, we came home to a warm refrigerator. A brand new carton of ice cream covered all the rest of the contents of the freezer and everything in the refrigerator was lost. We put in a request with AHS again but by the time the contractor came out (a little over a week later), the refrigerator was working again. The appliance guy said we needed to try a couple things next time it went out and call him back, but he couldn't fix it when he didn't know what was wrong with it. I reluctantly agreed, anxious about it going out again and causing more food spoilage. Again, AHS exceeded my expectations, calling a few days later to let me know that the refrigerator can't be repaired and would be replaced. Thanks to the incredible success we've had with these issues, we'll certainly be renewing for many years to come! Owning a home is a headache, but it's a lot easier to handle knowing AHS is backing me up!

He called to set up that appointment and talked to me about it and suggested that we try that and it worked. He was definitely knowledgeable and friendly. My only complaint with AHS is the terrible long waiting times when I call them. The technician responded promptly, and when he checked out the washer, said it would need to be replaced. I've tried contacting AHS's purchasing department as instructed three times now, each time waiting 30 minutes before giving up. Within 24 hours after filing a claim, a contractor gets in touch with me. The technicians put on booties and they're very professional. Our most recent claim was for a bathroom toilet. The reason we called is because the toilet was very slow and we thought we had a jam in the pipe. The plumber came out and saw that it was the toilet that was the problem, So, they replaced our toilet parts.

On 7/15/2016 I noticed my A/C unit was leaking. My units are in the attic and it began to leak through the ceiling and walls upstairs onto the landings on the steps and then downstairs to the main level. I contacted AHS and they sent someone out who claimed to "clear the drain lines". Less than a week later it was leaking again. This time it happened in the middle of night while we were sleeping and did not see it for hours. The ceiling, floors, stairs were even more damaged. I called AHS again on 7/22/2016 and they sent the same company back out again. They claimed to clear it again and this time the contractor replaced a piece of pipe he said was causing the backup. Again a week later it started again. This time while at work and water literally poured out of my ceiling. I took a shop vac and emptied about 7 gallons of water from the attic.
I called AHS again on 7/29/2016. I had to fight with them on the phone to send out a different company because the first company couldn't fix it. They reluctantly sent out another AC company. The second company came out and sent a "senior" technician and "cleared the lines" again. This "fix" didn't even last a week. On 8/5/2016 I had to call AHS again for the same leak. By now the ceiling is bubbling and I have a stream of water running down onto my steps. I live in GA and the temps were in the upper 90s with 3 toddlers at home, so turning off the AC was not an option.
They escalated my claim and sent out a supervising technician this time and FINALLY someone recognized the problem. These contractors were clearing drain lines that the AC unit was not attached to. This one guy traced the lines and told me all new PVC needed to be ran and he would need to submit it so they can bring out all of the correct parts. In the meantime everything is still leaking, buckets keep overflowing, the steps are a hazard, ceiling is now falling apart, water stains in the walls, landings on the steps are now unstable.
I called AHS the next day to see what the next step is and they claimed to never get the info from the contractor. I called the contractor and they said they sent it. Two more days go by until I finally hear back from AHS and their response is redoing the PVC was not covered. I got initial estimates on the damage the AC leak costs and it was $5-7000 worth of damage. And of course AHS doesn't cover SECONDARY DAMAGE caused by a faulty appliance and NOW they aren't even going to cover the actual problem. I have spoken to "supervisors" and NONE were even interested in trying to help. They didn't care about my out of pocket damage, or if I slipped on the steps and broke my neck or care enough to just pay to fix my AC. WORST COMPANY EVER. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. I ended up redoing the PVC myself because I couldn't afford to pay for the fix and repairs.

A few months ago our water heater went out on a Tuesday evening. I called American Home Shield and also called another company because AHS could not respond quick enough (the case was still opened). That company said the water heater could not be repaired and in would cost 1297 for a 9 year BW water heater and 1397 for a 12 year. We did not accept their offer. We were without hot water until Friday afternoon when someone came from AHS. The company replaced a 12 year BW water heater with a six-year model BW. They cut much of the copper pipe for the pressure valve and replaced it with PVC. We had to pay an additional 564.00 dollars for "upgrades". The only upgrade that I had been told by someone else was having an upper pipe into the attic.
The installer took a 4-foot piece of 3-inch metal pipe, cut a hole the size of the pipe and pushed it into the attic with a piece extending close to the water heater. It took about 15 minutes and a small ladder plus a sheetrock saw. AHS elected the same type of water heater but not the same quality and charged the 75.00 service fee plus the "upgrade fee". I bought two electric water heaters (GE) from Lowes which are 9-year models with a four year extended warranty. I also had both installed for 500.00 dollars and all piping was replaced with the same kind. I paid about 600.00/water heater installed with an extended warranty. I was very very dissatisfied with the handling of this item from American Home Shield. I believe the company has changed for the worst and I will definitely be checking other plans and their reviews.

If you have to call, it is impossible. You have to sit on the machine. I was on for two and a half hours. But we’re gonna keep AHS because it helps and it’s beneficial. From the time we originally had it in 2007 until now, AHS is getting not as customer-oriented.
The reps helped me and got things straightened out. In the end, the thing got fixed. They got the right company out and the guy was awesome, but it wasn't ARS. They were excellent. They diagnosed the problem immediately. And then they ordered the part, and had it in in a week and a half, which was very good. Overall, I would recommend AHS. It is beneficial for a homeowner to have something like that in place. I had started looking around the last time because I got so frustrated with having to stay on hold. But at the moment, it wasn’t worth the hassle for me to switch. However I won’t go through another experience like I did. I want them to start to remember that there are good companies here and to use the companies that have always done a great job for us.

I have no problem submitting my claim online with American Home Shield but I was not happy with the contractor they sent. My air conditioner was broken this summer. It took about two days for the contractor to get in touch with me and another week before they could come out and see me. Then it took them another week before they could come out with the part they had to order. So I went without air conditioning for two weeks in the middle of the summer. They said that it took them so long to get out to me because they were busy and it took so long for the part because they came on a Friday and they couldn't order the part until Monday because the parts house was closed on the weekends. They were supposed to be there at 1:00 but they didn't get there till almost 5:00. They were polite and everything but they were extremely slow. Nevertheless, I'm happy with my home warranty.

A checkup was done and everything was fine with the air conditioner. It's been performing excellently since the repair. I'll definitely continue with the service.

My most recent experience involved a new faucet for my kitchen sink. The sprayer on my old faucet came apart on a Sunday morning before church. I cleaned up the mess, turned off the water, and called AHS. That was all I had to do. They took over from there! They immediately dispatched a very professional plumber (Hers and His Plumbing). They came out a couple of days later and were so professional. When the sprayer could not be reattached, he purchased a new one. He also corrected some minor problems centered around the pipes and garbage disposal. He was quick, efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. This is just an example of AHS saving the day for me! FYI, I was still able to make it to church that Sunday morning. Oh -- I recommended AHS to two of my friends last week!

I contacted American Home Shield in January 2016 for an issue I was having with my water heater and I was told to find someone to come to my home to see what the problem was. I was told that they didn't have any plumbers on their list and I would be reimbursed so I contacted AmeriGas and the water heater had to be replaced. I paid 1200. I sent the paperwork to American Home Shield and waited for a response. When I didn't get a response I contacted the company by phone and they told me someone was supposed to come from the company but this is not what I was told. If that were true when I contacted them the first time they should have given me a company to contact from their list or made arrangements for someone to come out and they didn't.

We’ve only had to call in American Home Shield twice and they’re really nice and prompt, and don’t make us wait. We submitted the claim online. We’re tech savvy here and I work from home in the computers so it’s really easy. We just bought the house and the AC didn’t work in our room. Their rep called me and scheduled it. The contractor who serviced the house was really nice, helpful, and professional. He found three AC filters jammed up in our AC unit and told us how to fix it in the future and what not to do and to do next time. The AC's been great since the repair. The people who had the house before didn’t really take care of it so we’re constantly cleaning up things. We’re thinking about getting American Home Shield out again because our garbage disposal isn’t working.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield for my air conditioner with air temp problem and I was very happy with my experience. The technician who worked on it was really good, very knowledgeable and knew what the problem was right away. It only took him five minutes and it was a 100% performance. However, their phone wait time was very long every single time I call. It was at least 40 minutes. But I'm happy with my air conditioner and plumbing technicians. Among all of them, my favorite is the plumber. I trust him and he has enough knowledge. As a matter of fact, I ask for him.
The only contractor I wasn't happy with was the company that came out for my dryer last year. They came out about six times before I actually got a new dryer. It should only have been 30 days and if they can't fix it in 30 days, it had to be replaced but they kept saying that my vents are not cleaned out. So I paid and had my vents cleaned out and it wasn't that. It was the dryer. But so far, AHS is the best thing since sliced bread.

I have had a good experience with American Home Shield. We've been with them for about six years and every time I've had anything go wrong - we're either notified by phone or by email. We had prompt service, and there were nice people that came out and worked on things. And other than the fact that it's a little pricey, we're happy with it. I'm just impressed with the promptness of American Home Shield. Other people have had other warranties and they don't always get prompt action. My own son is with another company and sometimes they'll just say "there's just no one available to help" and I've never had that happen. We've had a variety of things fixed and it's not ever been highly expensive fixes, but I felt like it's been worth the money that we've paid for the insurance.
My most recent claim was that my water softener is not working. I had called the Culligan people and they were going to charge quite an exorbitant amount of money to come out and look at it. So I thought well I'll see if American Home Shield covers it and it did. A man from Austin Water Softener came here. He figured it out, and brought the parts. He fixed it and it's fine.

I had a problem with my air conditioner. Submission of claim was easy, but it was the summertime and there were so many claims that it was hard to get somebody to come out. AHS worked hard to get somebody to come out and I appreciated that. The contractor said I needed my air conditioner cleaned and needed another part. What I ran into was American Home Shield doesn't cover getting it cleaned, and if it's not cleaned, it's not going to work properly. One guy told me that if I went with him, he would clean it for free and just charge American Home Shield for the part; that didn't happen. When I called him back after I had American Home Shield off the phone, he had his secretary tell me that he was going to charge me $100.
American Home Shield found me somebody else. Air Design A/C and Heating came out, did a wonderful job, and I was very appreciative of them. The guy went ahead, cleaned it for me for free and put the part in. He was very professional, took the time to listen to me, and that was of great importance to me. I told him what another person had said when they came out. He instantly knew what was going on, took over and did what needed to be done. My air conditioner was excellent since the repair.

I recently submitted a claim with American Home Shield for a repair on a dishwasher. It has been very satisfactory and they made it easy. I prefer to talk to them rather than do it online and I’m able to get through. The service request is generally automated, and if I go to the automation, they just send the first vendor that comes up on their list. However, when I call in for a service request, I prefer to use specific vendors that happen to be American Home Shield approved. So, it takes me a little longer to get the request. The technicians from Hotshot Appliance were very knowledgeable. They came out and diagnosed the issue really quickly and they said it’d be a week before they get the part. They called promptly in a week and said they were ready to come back. When they came back, it took them very little time to get it fixed. It went very well.
The only complaint I have concerning American Home Shield is that I’ve been using them for years, and when I call in and tell them that I know what the problem is with the appliance, it always takes them at least two trips to get it finished because the servicemen that come out, including the air-conditioning men and the appliance guy, never have the parts on their truck to make even the minor repairs. I give AHS the model number and what‘s going wrong with the appliance in detail. It frustrates me in a way because I would think they’d be a little bit better prepared on with their service trucks with customary parts to fix the appliances if they know the model number and the appliance. Other than that, I'm happy with them.
We’re getting ready to move into another house and I fully intend to take out an American Home Shield policy on that house. I’m not so dissatisfied with them on some of the things that happened in the past that I’m not going to use them in the future. I’ve been a customer of theirs for 15 years and I had a lot of things fixed. I have a good working relationship with them and I get frustrated every once in a while but the issue always gets done.

Right now, my experience with AHS is terrible. The air conditioning broke down on our upstairs unit. They've been out here three different times and they still have not repaired it. First they told me the compressor was bad and they had to replace it. They came out to replace the compressor and the capacitor. Then they told me that the thermostat upstairs wasn't working properly and replaced the thermostat. Then they decided that the motor on the bore upstairs wasn't working, so they had to come back another time to replace the motor. After doing all of that, they came back and told me the compressor they put in is not working. I'm still waiting for them to show up with a new compressor. That's been going on for almost three weeks.
I've talked to American Home Warranty directly, and interestingly enough, they don't work on weekends. They'll take a call on a weekend but then say that I have to wait tell you until a business work day. I think the service company they're using is probably not very good. The service trying to get through the American Home Shield was slow and difficult and nothing really gets done.

The refrigerator is 3.5 years old. Noticed a constant leak under the cold storage compartment. Then 2 days ago heard what sounded like a rattling and motor vibration. Called American Home Shield. A technician arrived and immediately set to finding the problem. He looked at the rear of the refrigerator and found a considerable amount of water and moisture on the back of the refrigerator. He surmised the problem was due to insufficient insulation and said it was a manufacturers defect. He called Samsung and they said there was no repair available for this situation. He called AHS and advised them that there was no repair available as per Samsung.
AHS contacted me and said that the Thermal Shell of the refrigerator was not covered under the contract. When I asked what my recourse was, they said it was not covered and they would not replace the refrigerator. I paid the service fee of $75.00 plus tax to the technician as part of the agreement. Now I have a refrigerator that is leaking due to a manufacturers defect and AHS is refusing to rectify this situation based on the fact they do not cover this Thermal Shell. When they say the refrigerator is covered under the contract, they don't quantify the coverage. The insulation that is missing is causing the defect, not the Thermal Shell.

I am Extremely Disappointed in American Home Shield. I have had them for 6 months, and have put in one service call so far. My Water Heater started leaking so I called AHS. Which by the way took 7 days to dispatch someone to come and look at it. He said we need a new water heater, and AHS will cover the Labor and the water heater but not these extras: A pan that sits underneath it which I can buy at Home Depot for $15 and this guy said he has to charge us $325 for him to install one. THEN a Permit from the city which is $125 to pull, but he said he would have to charge us $250 for them to pull it. Then to get it up to code, there are certain straps, etc that AHS also doesn't cover, so $800.00 out of pocket expense for us... I was floored.
I knew about the up to code expenses, etc. but this guy wanted to charge us double to pull a permit? What would make it double? Gas to drive over there? Makes no sense. So he basically said if we didn't want to go that route, we can always do "Cash Out" and AHS send us $ to buy our own water heater, etc, and pull the permit ourselves and have someone help us install it. So I contacted AHS and told them we wanted to do a cash out. The lady said, "ok, I will have someone call you right back from our cash out dept." NO ONE CALLED ME BACK..
I called them the next day and they told me "we can't have anyone contact you about the cash out until late next week." I said "so in the meantime, my water heater could leak water all over my garage and cause damage?" She said, "well, that's all we can do right now. We are backed up on orders for over a week now." OMG I had a different home warranty company for over 8 years and NEVER had this kind of thing happen. I only switched to AHS because they offer monthly payments and my old Home warranty company didn't. So basically I am going to Cancel AHS and pay a cancellation fee, or wait it out and cancel at the end of my contract. I am also informing my other homeowner friends NOT to use AHS.

My most recent claim with AHS was the replacement of the fan motor on the air conditioner. I filed it online easily then got a phone call from the contractor the next day to set up an appointment. Then, they came out and replaced the parts as they had the parts in stock. It took three days for AHS in bridging the call and getting the air conditioner fixed but I wish they would use a local contractor. I live in Texarkana, the contractor was out of Dallas, and that put me at a time disadvantage. But the technicians that came worked on the air conditioner before and were good folks. Also, I've had a couple of other claims, like with my microwave, wherein if they can't get a part extremely cheap immediately, I'll be put on hold until a part that's lesser priced can be found. Beginning in July, I filed a claim with AHS because my washing machine was leaking. They sent someone out from Sears to take a look at it. And then someone from Sears came out several more times to order parts for it to fix it. It was fixed a few times then it leaked again and flooded so my laundry room, hallway of the room and dining room floors have all been ruined. I insisted that they send the same repair company each time. When they sent someone out to check up on it after the flood, that person had no access to the previous record of people who’ve been there before to work on it. He had no idea of knowing what had been done, what had been ordered or what had been fixed and American Home Shield said they don’t show that information for whatever reason.
So the gentleman fixed it but it was still leaking so they sent someone else to fix it, and that’s when I said, “No. It’s been fixed three or four times now. I need a new one.” And I had to fight for that and now they’re agreeing to get me another one. If I order it through them, they get some sort of discount but they’re only giving me around $900 for a new one. It’s a unified machine where it’s a washer-dryer combined and most are certainly more than $900. So I have to go through them to get one. Whenever I call them, I’m on hold for at least an hour and it’s pretty frustrating.
Right now, they said that I have to make sure the measurements are correct for the machine they want to give me. I’m also waiting on my homeowners insurance, the ones doing the investigation on the washing machine I have right now because they’re in communication with Sears about going through with holding them responsible for faulty work. So I have to arrange the pickup of my old machine before I can really get through with my new machine to be delivered. As with AHS, I just need to call them back and let them know that we’re good to go with the new washing machine. Also, I'd like to complain about them showing my information. They're absolutely horrible.

The technician found the Air Compressor and Refrigerant need to be replaced, so few days later they replaced air compressor with AHS coverage but we had to pay $500 out of pocket for refrigerant because it was non-covered one in contract. Here and now in September, our upstairs A/C stopped working again. We called AHS and they sent the technician from the same contractor (A US air Conditioning of Texas). The technician said the air compressor broke and refrigerant failed by compressor defect. So we need replacement for both air compressor and refrigerant again!
According to AHS, they will replace air compressor by coverage but for the refrigerant I need to pay over $600 again because it failed after their warranty period "60 days". Does it mean that even if refrigerant failed by unprofessional installation of air compressor or it's manufacturer defect, customer keeps paying over $5-600 out of pocket for the failed refrigerant followed by broken air compressor? Is it real warranty service contract? Do they hire right and professional contractor? I doubt it.

Update: AHS agreed to send out a different contractor - Initially they came back with an out of pocket amount of $750 (1/2 of the original contractor). The day before the work was to take place, the company notified me that the out of pocket cost wasn't reduced further to $350 ($1150 less than the original proposal) . I've read many examples of this same activity taking place - I strongly recommend a 2nd opinion and to utilize Consumer Affairs and the BBB if necessary.

I called AHS because the A/C was no longer cooling. The Technician they sent out determined that I had a leak in the evaporator coil and said it needed to be replaced. After confirming that AHS would be covering Parts and Labor, I waited for a call letting me know the out of pocket estimate (like Freon). They called shortly afterwards to let me know my part of it would be $1500! I immediately called another licensed HVAC company and had them provide an opinion and they agreed with the leak assertion. Their price for replacement of the coil + labor would come to $3500 and they said outside the Freon the other items listed as required were unnecessary and had nothing to do with my particular A/C unit. I called AHS and attempted to get them to buy out the contract and they said the amount they were going to pay the company they sent out would be < $600 (parts and labor) and offered to settle with me for that amount.
So in effect they admitted that what they were paying for parts and labor was going to be less than the extra items supposedly required to do the job. I asked that they assign a different HVAC company to come out and they refused. I had the option of taking the money or having the original company come out to do the install. I declined both options. As long as the items to repair are inexpensive you will be fine but forget it if it's a significant cost to AHS.

A few months ago, I called to have my microwave replaced, the contractor came and told me exactly what I already knew the problem was. Didn't get any measurements or details to replace my unit. After calling for 2 weeks and talking to multiple reps who seem to know nothing about which microwave I could use to replace my current one, I was finally informed I was the one who had to get the measurements... There were some misunderstandings in what's covered when I had an air conditioning unit replaced through American Home Shield. They replaced a part of the unit but not all of it. So, we still had to pay quite a bit of money out of pocket. The one thing I can always say is that they are very timely in responding. We always hear within 24 hours of submitting a claim online. We really never had a problem before about coverage until this last time. We've always had good communication with the vendors that have been sent out. Most of the people who come and do the services are excellent, and I've only had one problem with somebody who didn't do what they were supposed to do. Other than that, the people and the contractors from AHS were very good and very professional. And although we weren’t pleased with the outcome, they were still polite and respectful.

I have two contracts with American Home Shield. One at my summer house on Daytona beach and one at Cullen Lake Shore Drive where I live. My first concern was with my GE Monogram oven at Cullen Lake. My first call to them was the beginning of August and it was just last week, Friday, that it was finally fixed. I was without it for almost two months and I use my oven everyday so it was inconvenient. Whenever I’d call American Home Shield, it’s always a minimum of an hour and ten minutes. My last call lasted an hour and thirty-seven minutes on hold which is totally atrocious. And, if I was not right within earshot when they come on the line, they’d hung up and I had to redial. I’ve done that at least 6-7 times in the last two months going back-and-forth. So, that really ticks me off. If they don’t have enough in their call center, they need to get more people to have the support.
The second concern that is not really appeasing to me is the fact that they do not assign top-rate repair specialists. They charge me $100 for the visit and because that’s in my contract, I accept that. However, they assign third-rate repair people. In my case, they assigned A Plus Appliance Repair. AHS said they'll contact me but they never did. I've called them at least 10 times but they never answered the phone. It’s always been a recording telling me to leave my name and number or I can contact them on aplus.com but there is no such address because I went online in desperation trying to contact them.
The technician eventually showed up even though they didn’t return my call. He came and looked at my oven and said he needed to order a part which will take three weeks to be delivered. He came back in three weeks but he said the part is not in his truck and he can’t come back this week because he's booked so he'll have to make an appointment for next week. The following week came but he never showed up. So I called AHS and told them that I can’t get in touch with the technician and they said that there was a note that they have to transfer us to another department to makes us an offer of $700+ toward buying a new oven so they don’t have to fix it. This GE monogram which operates two ovens costs $6,000 but they're just offering me $700+ to go buy a new one. I refused the offer and I want the oven fixed.
So they said it’ll take another 10 days to order the part and get the part in and have the technician come out and install it and I said okay. So, I waited another 10 days and the technician came out with the part. He's there for an hour and he’s taking things out, putting things in etc. And I realized he doesn’t know what he’s doing. So finally, he comes over to me and said he has to order another part. I asked him if he really knows how to fix the oven and if he comes with the second part, will it be fixed, he said he doesn't know and that he'll have to see.
That’s not good enough for me! I said I need a GE certified factory technician who can fix it. He offered to call AHS and they called me and said they will send out a GE factory certified technician instead. When the GE factory technician came and checked the oven, he said he needed to order parts and he'll be back in 10 days. He came last Friday, and within half an hour, he replaced it. He was wonderful and he knew what he was doing, and my oven started working again.
I had another experience over at my other property at Daytona Beach. The dryer was making a noise and the first person that came said there’s nothing’s wrong with it. And then, the dryer started screaming the next time the cleaning lady went over there. I called AHS again and they sent somebody else out. And there was a part that wasn’t there. Therefore, they’re using third-rate people. They needed to step it up a bit because I paid $100 for that visit. And, I pay $48 a month so I expect to get the service and there is no reason that that level of service should be tolerated. They’re lucky that I don’t report them to the Better Business Bureau.

I didn't like how my claim a while back with AHS went when my garage wouldn't open. It took the contractors forever to get out here. The OmniTouch button on the inside of the house was supposed to be fixed so we can open the garage from there. They ended up selling a garage door opener to my wife, who's suffering from dementia, even if we already had one. Now we have to pay $59 for it on top of the $75 payment that we had to pay for the contractors coming out here. Up to now, the button still doesn't work right. A lot of times I have to flicker around the button and its different parts. I'm not happy with that experience. Besides that, I really like American Home Shield's work. Most of the time, the contractors are out here really quickly.

from two cities away was awarded the contract to repair it. KCS could not get out to evaluate it for another week. Mind you it is over 90 degrees and 95 percent humidity! After a couple days of the hot temp I called AHS and complained. They called and told me to get someone in my area to inspect it for the repair. I did as instructed and got a local certified HVAC company. Since my unit is 28+ years old, the company told AHS it would be better to replace the unit since it was in such bad condition (every part of it). The company was to send in estimate on how much to replace it that day.
AHS called me that afternoon and said it would cost too much and they would make another appt with KCS. At the end of the week they came out and said they could just replace the compressor and that should do for a while. Today is September 22nd and compressor has not been received from AHS by KCS. AHS said it was mailed and KCS should get it tomorrow. KCS said IF they receive it tomorrow I should be scheduled on September 29th. I was also told by AHS that I would be responsible for $305.00 of the charges by KCS that they would not pay (coolant for my A/C). What a waste to have paid $48.99 each month for at least 3-4 years for service like this!!! DON'T WASTE MONEY ON AMERICAN HOME SHIELD???

I have been with this company for more than 6 years now and have covered two homes during that time. Generally, they have been good, prompt and cover what they say they will cover. But today they sent out a HORRIBLE contractor and won't do anything to resolve the issue. They sent a plumber from more than 90 miles away. He was more than an hour late and never touched a thing! He saw the leaking tub faucet, told us he wasn't going to try to remove the screw because it looked stripped and then said he was late for his next appointment. We disagreed and he proceeded to call his boss and argue with him in my living room!
When I told AHS what had happened, they said this company was the only contracted plumber they had and that all they could do would be to pay me the estimated price of the repair minus the deductible. They said they would send $23.00 AFTER I submit a receipt from a licensed plumber of my choice. THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE! They said the plumber told them a flow cartridge would have to be replaced - that was the cause of the LAST leak in May and obviously that didn't work! And don't even get me started on having this be a whole new claim only 4 months later because the last repair was only guaranteed for 30 days! So much for workmanship and reliable contractors. If you ever hear the name Rudd Mechanical out of Denver, run the other way. This warranty is being replaced right NOW! Smh.

AHS service contractors make quick fixes with bare minimum to insure 100%. I had a repair 4 months ago, leak AC unit. They never found actual leak but replaced a small part as it was rusted. They re-pressurized system and said good to go. Four months later same problem. This time they found one leak (most likely same one as 4 months ago). They patched leak and said good to go. No troubleshooting to ensure there may not be additional leaks. The 2 calls in a 4-month period cost me $650 dollars plus monthly payment = $850 in a 4-month period. So ask yourself is it worth have a warranty if this is the service you get?

I recently submitted a claim with American Home Shield for my clothes dryer, which was easy, but getting it resolved was a nightmare. It took three days for the contractor to get in touch with me and five days for them to get out here and look at it the first time. It took another week for them to schedule a follow-up appointment. They told me that once I got the part that they ordered, I could call in to get a sooner appointment. I did that, but they said they don't have sooner appointments.
I called it in on a Sunday morning, and altogether, it was almost two weeks that I was without a dryer. I had to keep running over to our friend's house or down to the laundromat to finish up my laundry. It was absolutely ridiculous. It only needed a minor part, and the first person who came didn't even diagnose the problem correctly and ordered the wrong thing. Thankfully, the next technician was very good. He had the part on his truck, so they didn't have to start all over again ordering the part.
So I was really upset with American Home Shield. I've been with them for two years and every other claim has been great, but the last one was the worst experience. I contacted Sears four times to let them know how upset I was, but then, I finally called AHS and told them that I did not want to deal with Sears, which was the contractor. Sears is not the caliber company that they used to be and I was very upset. AHS said that I have to finish up with them and they can't do anything else about it. I've never heard another word from them which I'm not happy about either.
I will seriously think whether I will renew my contract again or look for another company. The experience I had with my air conditioner, which was prior to the dryer issue wasn't very good either. AHS sent people out here twice who then told me that I had to have the whole thing replaced. I replaced the whole air conditioning unit, and then I called AHS and asked if they'd pay something for it. They said I should have called them and got a second opinion. Overall, the last two occasions with American Home Shield have been pitiful. So I'm not happy at all.

Claim submission through the phone was easier for me, and the wait time for the telephone was very short. I have failed to pay my service fee, a couple of times because I would ask the service technician that came out, and they would say that I'd pay that to American Home Shield, and AHS will take care of that. And then, I didn't know whether I should go online or call American Home Shield, and assumed that I would receive a call confirming that I needed to pay for it, but I didn't, and got a little behind, so that was annoying. The process for me finding out for sure what I owed and who to send the payment to was a little confusing to me. Failed from the first service call... Took over four times to actually fix the dryer because they sent a common thug to my house that was demanding extra money he wasn't entitled to, threatened me in my own home and they kept calling the same guy back. Then they still haven't serviced an item I called on for over three months. Then my AC goes out and six visits total with it working only six days in the three weeks it took, they chose to cut a 15 year old unit in half to install an evaporator coil configuration kit and six days later my house is filled with smoke and smells like burning plastic. They said, "turn off thermostat and we will get someone there in four days... "
Next day it happens again and I call the repair company and they tell me my house could have caught on fire!!! Finally AHS agrees to send someone and ALL THE BREAKERS BLEW. He came the next day and fixed them and an hour later, same thing. Send another guy and another breaker blew he said but he took up sealing tape? The whole time and for every service I called, representatives are initially rude and combative and assure me they have no management or supervisor and don't have to transfer me or escalate because THEIR COMPANY POLICY says they don't have to. There are federal AND state laws REQUIRING that we have escalation means. Even if it is just transferring to another rep to start fresh. We MUST have contact information where transferring is unavailable and I was always refused this by every rep.
I have all of these phone calls recorded and Suzie or Suzan from the customer service advocacy team is the worst and swears she is the only employee there and has no boss and even sat there asking me, "What do you even think is going to happen if I transfer you?" This was all because Sue thinks it's well within the contract to not have a working covered item for a month or more and I'm not entitled to any single money back. They are not holding up their end of the contract, are abusing consumers, stealing money and sending criminals to home owners houses after being notified of criminal activity along with violating federal and state laws.

When I finally got through I found out they moved my service claim into "options" status two days ago, meaning it is sitting with the appliance purchasing department. Problem is, nobody bothered to notify me of the change in status. Had I not called in I would have continued to sit around waiting to hear back while my dishwasher is inoperable. Based on my experience, the customer service is not very good.

American Home Shield was incredibly difficult to work with. They just put band-aids on all of our issues. The service calls generally ended up being the same cost as it would've been if I paid somebody out of pocket without a warranty. Our pool pump failed, which normally would've been covered, but American Home Shield was very restrictive on the times that they could come out and deal with it, and we had to get it done quickly because it would've cost more issues on our pool. We ended up paying $500 out of pocket for that. I sent them the claim later to see if I could get money back for it. They denied it because I didn’t follow their protocol.
Moreover, they sent really bad vendors to do work on our AC unit, and we ended up having to buy a new AC unit for $5,000 out of pocket because everything the guys did was put a band-aid. It didn’t fix it. I cancelled American Home Shield immediately because it's not worth spending $700 a year for something that’s not being fixed properly. Also when the workmanship is poor and the people that come out and do work are dishonest, it's not reliable. I would never recommend it to anyone. If I was the realtor, I would not have anyone do that ever. Our experience was terrible.
In fact, it was the second time that I've used AHS thinking that maybe it'd be different this time because they told me they’ve rewritten the contract. We were in Oregon when we first used it, and they would deny things. I'd have to pay out of pocket and have to fight them. I gave them a second chance, and I couldn’t believe I wasted the money to do that. I will never get a home warranty again.

I've called American Home Shield a number of times with regards to why I'm angry now and displeased as a result of a claim that was put in for service back in the beginning of this year for a property in Philadelphia that is covered. It got boxed and it was carried out for months, and it still is not correct. However, they think it's closed because their contractors said that it's closed. No one is taking ownership of the fact that the ceiling was taken down.
American Home Shield says their contractors did not take it down because the contractors say that they didn't. How does one work on a pipe that runs through a ceiling if nobody took the ceiling down? So, they don't want to pay for any of the repairs to get the ceiling put back up. Also, how did they know that the leak that I called about was coming from a particular place and then they're going to put eight feet of new pipe up there but nobody took down any ceiling? But submitting a claim is easy enough and the service is good overall.

I actually like American Home Shield. It is the contractor that they have chosen to work on air conditioning unit in my area. The contractor Air Doctor is a questionable contractor. The first time they came out a few months ago they said I needed the Freon to be topped off. Then a few weeks ago I heard water leaking and the sound of water going down the drain. Then my AC wouldn't cool. I called to put in a service request and the same contractor came out. The first time they came out they said my unit was totally frozen and there was ice all over the outside and inside unit. I took pictures and there was never any ice. The same contractor told me I had to wait 24 hours for the ice to melt, and I would have to wait til Monday and keep the air off.
I live in Florida where the heat index can reach 115. I did call American Home Shield and they got the contractor to come out the next morning. However the contractor never looked for a leak. I was told I needed more Freon but he put less than a pound and I was charge the hundred and $25. I have no idea whether I have a leak or not and American Home Shield will not send another contractor out. I have no problem paying the fee if work was actually done. But this was not the case.

Placed my first call last Thursday and had problems with the American Home Shield preferred contractor from the start. Called AHS (waited on hold 30 min to get through) and the customer service agent was rude and condescending. I dealt with it, explained my problems with the contractor and received no assistance. The contractor was to come out this afternoon but called this morning to cancel because their technician called in sick. At this point, I have been patient, but without air conditioning in 90+ degree heat for 5-days (that's been the average daytime temp in the house. I live in TN).
I called AHS and waited 40 minutes to speak with a person. I was told they would call around to their other A/C vendors in the area and call me back within a half hour to an hour. After 4 hours, I had to call them back. They had made no attempt to call another contractor, nor even reach out to me, to provide an update. Canceled their service, received a full refund and I have a repair technician who I found, coming out this afternoon. I would not recommend American Home Shield.

I was an AHS policyholder for two years and didn't renew for a third because the claims handling process was, to say the least, challenging. FILING the claim was easy. Getting AHS to assign a qualified contractor in a timely manner was quite a different matter, even for minor appliance repairs. The call center staff was indifferent to the claims, the contractors in AHS's vaunted "network" either wouldn't return calls or show up at all, and AHS reps offered no solutions other than to advise me to "find a contractor" on my own and then have that contractor submit an invoice for the work performed. As if a truly qualified contractor in a high-demand area would be interested in that, right? Duh!
So, call me crazy, but this week, I thought I'd give AHS another try and buy TWO policies for my two properties. Big mistake. After an hour on the phone with a rep, I received an email confirming the policies I'd purchased...with different prices and deductibles than I was quoted. It took me, without exaggeration, 2 hours on hold, 4 AHS representatives and 4 calls to cancel both policies, since it was clear that AHS was no better at customer service now than they were 2 years ago when I didn't renew my policy with them.
By the way...canceling the policies was incredibly difficult, requiring me to speak with the ironically-titled "Retention Department" after being on hold for 15 minutes. Shocker alert: You apparently can't cancel online, via live chat or by speaking to anyone else. And every step of the way, CSRs required that I explain to them why I was canceling, and then launched into the hard sell to convince me to keep the policies. My thinking is, if the purchasing process is this difficult and the communications are this poor when BUYING a policy...how much worse will it be when I have a claim? I didn't stick around to find out. Buh-bye, AHS. Never again What a time-wasting experience.

I called your company last week and they had not even processed the claim yet, nor did the CS department have any idea what the claim was for even though I gave them the claim number. By the way, I had to wait on hold for 30 minutes before anyone from AHS answered the phone. Once someone answered the phone they acted as if they could care less about their job or helping the customer. They said the next step was not their department - I should call back in a few days because AHS does not have enough manpower to call the customer back and let them know what is going with their claim. It was a week later before I had time to wait on the phone again for 30 minutes for AHS to answer their phones.
So I called your company again today on my lunch hour and have already been on hold for 25 minutes and lunch is almost over. This is my first claim with AHS and I can tell you I am very disappointed with your service. I still have no idea when my dishwasher is going to be replaced. August 17th, 2016: I called American Home Shield (AHS) to file a claim for my broken air conditioner. AHS assured us that they would find a reputable company to come service our air conditioner as soon as possible. This was a particularly difficult time for us because my wife was in her 2nd trimester, which of course, is a very difficult time. To add, the weather in Atlanta, GA in the middle of August is extremely hot and muggy - ~100 degree F with 100% humidity.
August 19th, 2016: I have received NO calls from AHS or their “reputable vendor,” so I was forced to reach out to them. After spending 30 minutes on hold, I finally got the number to the vendor, Air Design A/c & Heating (770) 483-8402. I reached out to Air Design and was told by the tech that he was too busy to come fix our problem so I would have to wait. Frustrated I called AHS to complain but they told me that starting the process over would take even longer and to just wait. This was causing us stress since we had not slept for the past two nights.
August 21st, 2016: I called the Air Design and nobody answered. I finally received a text message that if I could be at my home in 20 minutes then he could come fix it. I rushed home (45mins away) and received a call from the tech as I was pulling in. He told me that he was about to leave if I did not get there right away. I was incredibly insulted by his attitude, professionalism, and personal presentation. He walked in, turned on the AC and told me he knew it was just out of coolant. But he said he couldn’t fix it and would have to call me back sometime later in the week once he got it approved. I then called AHS, complained and demanded a new vendor.
August 21st-September 20th, 2016: AHS Due to my wife's physical state, I was forced to stay in a hotel room. I requested that AHS provide compensation since during this time they were unable to find a competent company to service our loss. AHS told me that they could only provide compensation for a temporary window AC unit if the temperature was over 105 degrees F. This is the most ludicrous policy! With the humidity in Atlanta, 105 degrees F is the equivalent to 125 degrees.
Regardless of the cost, we were unable to purchase a temporary window A/C unit since we live in a condominium where there are only sliding doors. This forced us to stay in a hotel, which has cost us over $2000! AHS made no effort to compensate us for the hotel fees or for the fact that my pregnant wife has had the stress of staying in unsanitary conditions for over 40 days! She is now having complications in the pregnancy, which we are certain, is due to the stress of dealing with AHS and its deplorable vendors. We very much intend to pursue compensatory and punitive damages for the financial and physical damages that AHS has caused us due to their incompetence and lack of concern.
As policyholders, who pay their premiums on time, we feel raped, as we put our full faith and confidence in the insurer, who pay to depend on, to uphold their promise to us to be there when we are vulnerable. I am deeply disappointed and shocked that a company would show such lack of concern of its customers. To this day, (9/20/2016), nothing has been done to resolve the issue by AHS. I have been forced to find my own vendor, who was shocked by the story and has assured me that the process should only take 48 hours max. With the most sincere warning, DO NOT TO USE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD as your warranty company. There are too many other good ones out there that deserve your business.

A couple of months before, we wanted to renew and so I called American Home Shield to talk with them about it. Their rep gave me a promotional deal since I called in early, and she could only do it while I was on the phone with her. We set up a payment and she post-dated for it to come out automatically. The next month, I already had the money on hand and I didn’t want to wait for it to come out, so I called in and I paid in full.
Then right at July I started getting these letters from AHS saying I owed them $100. It was very disconcerting as a first-time home buyer. My wife just lost her job so I'm working three jobs, and having the scare of an extra $100 showing up out of nowhere wasn't good. It ended up being that some discount the rep applied didn’t go through the system, but it took two months and three times of me calling in to get the issue corrected. It should’ve been taken care on the first call. The rep's solution was to have it fixed by next month, but the next month came around and I received another letter saying I owed them 100 bucks. I’m worried because if my account’s past due, they’re not gonna do any work for me if something happened. Overall I’d recommend them if that whole mishap didn’t happen.

I was in the process of purchasing a new condo so I bought a warranty and paid for the whole year in advance. Right after I moved in I found the a/c needed freon and called AHS (I did wait the mandatory 15 days as that is how long the mortgage and closing took anyway). No a/c and AHS said 24 hours for a service call. I ended up talking to my realtor who informed me that the prior owner gifted me her service warranty that she had already paid for the year. So that was on 9/5/16 and I have been calling AHS ever since trying to cancel my contract. No service was ever performed and I had already paid the $500+ for the year of coverage.
Every time I call it's another excuse as to why they cannot or will not cancel my service contract and refund my money. Again, I paid in FULL for one year, I did not use any services and have been trying to cancel since 2 days after the policy took effect. I was originally going to see if they could postpone the service until the existing contract the prior owner gave me expired but, not now, I will NEVER call this company again. As it stands I am now on my 27th minute of hold time and this is probably the 14th call I made... to get my money back.

I have an over the top microwave for which I have AHS warranty that started in June 2016. It broke down in beginning of August and we scheduled a tech to check it. He advised the magnetron tube had broken and microwave will have to be replaced. I have made over 20 calls to AHS and till date the only answer I hear from them is that they are waiting from GE to provide them the diagnosis. I have also routed the call thru their supervisor but same result. I am so frustrated with this experience. Please help.

The claim submission with AHS was easy, however, when the technicians come, they got another set of information that was not what we said in our claim. That has happened a couple of times and it's quite frustrating. We were very clear on the initial call what and where the issue was but when the vendors got there, they said they don't deal with that.
For instance, we had a leak out in the sprinklers and when the techs came, they said they don't deal with anything outside the house. We had to fight to get a service fee removed because I'm not going to pay $300 for the plumber and still pay AHS a $75 fee for setting it up. If he was going to fix it, I will but not if they didn't listen to where I said the leak was. There's no way you can mistake that it's outside and I never said it was an inside leak. Moreover, after several fully-recorded calls back and forth, they refunded me my $75 for the calls I made. Pretty much all of it was on them. Every time I'll call, they're supposed to forward the call and use the recording but it didn't happen. Then three or four times later, they finally removed it. And they don't want to come and service us anymore because of the $75 balance with them, which we're not responsible for.
Same thing happened with the ceiling fan issue that I've experienced and my most recent claim which was an electrical issue that is still not resolved. Someone verbally dictates to somebody and there's been a lot of confusion. They have a major issue in disseminating or recording information. I don't call the service providers so it has to be from the rep that we talked to. We call American Home Shield, give all the information and they relay it to their vendor of their choice or that's in their network. The vendor calls us and makes an appointment. Sometimes they contact us right away and we'll hear from somebody that same day or if they can be there. Other times, when it's really an emergency, it's not. When there's water filling up in front of our house, it took too long for them to send someone. Then when it's an electrical thing and I needed somebody there ASAP, it's taken four or five days.
They don't have enough on-demand people for emergencies and they put the claim in a queue and they'll get to you when they get to you. But the technicians have been great. However, the last one changed the chains on the ceiling fan downstairs but failed to do it on my daughter's ceiling fan. He fixed the issue on it but didn't change the chains so we can't put the speed on her ceiling fan. It was an honest miss but at the same time, if I have to keep calling for somebody to come back, I don't think that I will refer him as a service provider.

My American Home Shield experience has been pretty good so far. I had a claim for an air conditioning problem and their response was fairly quick so I was pleased. The serviceman showed up within two days and had it repaired for me. He was good and explained what happened. However, when I got my checking deduction, AHS raised my premium without notice.

It’s been okay with AHS. Recently, my air-conditioner was not working properly and submitting the claim was very easy. I went online and it was simple to request for service. The technician came out right away. The service was great and he was very friendly and knowledgeable.

I've had my disappointments with American Home Shield because they seem to do anything and everything possible to keep from fulfilling a claim so far. I had an air conditioner outside that needed to be replaced and had to pay for that myself, and that was carried under the warranty. They nitpicked about any little thing to keep from paying it. I thought about joining the class action lawsuit it had against American Home Shield at one time but I left it alone because they do come out and do what they can to satisfy me. But that cost me over $5,000 and they didn't do anything to help me out with it.
With my ceiling fan, I took that off of AHS because it wouldn't have done me any good anyway to file a claim against them if something went wrong with it and it did. I knew they wouldn't fix it because I had gotten some complaints from other people. They pay for what they want to pay for and they're never going to pay what it's worth. They're always going to pay the cheapest way to replace what I need replaced. AHS was very rude with me at one time. I had a pipe burst close to the street under the sidewalk and they arrived and said that they do not go outside of my house to fix something backed up in my house. It was a lie because my toilet had stopped up several times, or my tub got stopped up, and they have to go two feet outside of my door for the drain to pump it out.
Overall, when I call the people from AHS on the phone, they're real nice. I can get better customer service, but they get ugly when I need something replaced. Otherwise it's been a pleasant experience. I like the comfort of having them in case the smaller things I need come up. They're not perfect, but I would recommend them because I never know when I’m going to have a stoppage or a leakage that they will come out and take care of. My daughter just bought a home and I recommended them to her.

I absolutely love working with American Home Shield. They were so responsive and I've been a client since 2000. I have a home that need repairs of some type every year and they brought me the best technicians. Sometimes we have to order parts and I totally understand, but if I didn’t have them I would have spent thousands of dollars on my home over the last 15 years.
I submitted claims for my dishwasher, water leak, and the washing machine over the phone and the representative was very caring and helpful. The claims went out on two separate work orders and I had 3 different contractors who've been out to my home before so I know them. They're very highly skilled, professional, came out on time, and did a very good job. They were able to completely restore my dishwasher. It's a high end dishwasher and had an electrical pan. It was out of service for about two weeks, but understandably they had to get the parts and then they came, fixed it, and gave me some tips on dishwashing detergent. Then they fixed the plumbing link in my master bath in my family room. It's a very nice experience. Everything is working and I have no complaints.

I’ve always had good service with American Home Shield and we renewed our yearly things with them. However, I didn’t use them on my most recent claims because it was an emergency and I had to cancel. The last claim I filed was for plumbing claim and they responded fine so everything was good. The contractor who came out was nice, did his job, and everything was great. The plumbing since the repair has been great.
