We made a major appliance purchases on July 1, 2010 of a Front Loading Washer and Stackable Dryer. The dryer required servicing at 11 months with was was covered but it required a major service for a broken motor control board. This has nothing to do with regular usage. The cost to repair is over half the total cost of the appliance.
This is unacceptable on a 15-month old washer. Whirlpool would not stand behind their product or service. I had to purchase their "Repair Plus 1" program to get it fixed. What a racket!

We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washer in 2009. It makes awful sounds during the draining and spinning cycles, has started leaking in the past month and now, several error codes and will not finish a load of laundry. We have a family of eight and thought that we had bought a very dependable product for what we need. Boy, we were wrong!

We purchased an Estate Washer for my 89-year-old mother in 2008. The paint has been peeling down to bare metal on the left top quarter from the corner down to the lid hinge for the past 2 years. I contacted customer service and was given probable causes, one of which was the washer might have gotten dusty! He said that could cause chipping. I reminded him the problem is peeling chunks, no chips, layers of paint. The warranty expired of course. The solution he offered was for me to buy paint from Whirlpool or Lowe’s, and paint it. I have had a Kenmore washer for 24 years. The paint is perfect, and it still runs great. I would never buy another Whirlpool product. The quality is atrocious.

I bought a Whirlpool washer (model wtw57esvw1) about 17 months ago. In that time, the same part has gone out three times. It happens every 5 to 6 months. The part runs 97 dollars plus labor. In the mean time, I am without the use of my washer. They say they are sorry, but they only cover their product for one year. After that, you have to buy their extended warranty so you can get it fixed by them. I feel that if I pay that much for a product I should expect at least 3 years without having to repair every 6 months! I have no washer. I am giving one star only because I have to.

We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer in 2010. I have had nothing but problems trying to wash black/dark clothes, it leaves "white stuff". I assume it's soap scum all over the clothes. I've tried cleaning the machine with Refresh more often than recommended and it still has the same problem.

I purchased a Cabrio Washer and Dryer set last October from Sears. The washer had a damaged washer basket and then stopped working altogether. The service call to get the washer working again was a fiasco. The tech replaced a switch which failed in the first 5 minutes and had to be called back to replace that defective switch. We now have the same problem all over again and we are on our third service call and the warranty is expired. Whirlpool is useless and will probably be out of business if they continue as the middle man for Chinese manufactured garbage. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product again. Word of mouth can make or break a business, not advertising. This stuff is real junk and trash. I'm sorry we bought it. Do not buy any Whirlpool products.

I am a single mother of a 5 year old and I take care of my mother as well. I purchased a whirlpool because I believed them to be reliable, boy was I mistaken! I am in the military and while on an 8-month deployment I got a message from my mother that the washing machine had stopped working. Here is my mother who cannot drive - with laundry bags and a 5 year old in tow walking to the laundromat to wash, only to carry wet laundry back to the house to dry.
Thanks a lot Whirlpool! My cousin in Michigan tried to help my mother with the company and a repairman as much as possible from over the phone. Here is what I got:
The washer repairman came this morning. He did the diagnosis but I did not approve the replacement parts and repairs. First of all, he said that the motor control board was bad. To replace it with a new board would be $503 and a refurbished one would be $490.03. If the motor control board was replaced, it might fix the problem with the user interface. If not, the cost to replace that would be $302.62.
Apparently there are 4 boards that could have problems. He also said there was a problem with the start button. Anyway, we ended up paying for the service call ($129), but I thought the cost for the replacement parts was too much to justify when we could get a new one for about the same cost. He recommended that we get a Service Contract when buying something new because of the cost to replace the parts.
While doing some research online, unless you purchase an extended warranty or have experience in 2M; you will be researching new washers every 2-4 yrs. What happened to built to last? It seems to me all this technology/circuit boards/computers to make things work have degraded the appliance quality.
I'm sorry for the bad news but I just wanted you to have all the info. Let me know what you think. I know the washer is only a little over 2 years.

My boyfriend and I purchase a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and Dryer on November 28, 2010 from Lowe's in Shepherdsville, KY. Just after we purchased the set, I read some bad online reviews of the set. I called Lowe's and talked to Chris ** in appliances and he assured me that this was a good set and that it was very popular with their customers. He assured me that if there were any problems that Lowe's would make sure they did everything they could to fix and/or replace the appliance(s). My intention was to cancel the order when I called, but he convinced me not to, now I completely regret not canceling that order that day.
In May of 2011 we called Lowe's to report that the dryer was not working properly; they sent a repair person from Maytag Service Co, 1500 South Shelby, Louisville, KY 40217, phone number 502-637-6526. The name on the card that the repair person left is "Steve **". The repair tech indicated that the problem was that the belt had come off and he put the belt back on the dryer. It has worked without issue until about 2 weeks ago, when it stopped drying again. I assume the belt is off again since it is performing exactly the same as it did in May when we had the repair company out.
I called Maytag Service Co approximately 1 to 1 1/2 weeks ago to see when a tech could come back out and I was told they only work Monday - Friday. I told them both my boyfriend and I work and can't really take time off from work to be home for the repair. The male on the phone indicated that they could call 30 minutes before arriving if that would help. I told them that wouldn't really help since I work in Louisville (about 30 minutes from Shepherdsville where we live). He indicated that was the best they could do.
Yesterday, November 7th sometime during business hours. I spoke with someone in their appliance department. He indicated that I would need to call Maytag Service Co at 502-637-6526. I called them and was advised that they could come out the next day (today), November 8th, but they could not give me a time window. I spoke to a female who did not identify herself. She specifically stated, "If someone has not called you by 8:30 a.m., you can call us and we will give you a time window". Since I had just earned a vacation day at work, I so desperately need my dryer working that I took the day off to get the dryer fixed. I got up at 7:30 a.m. this morning to prepare for the service call. I have not left the house today. At 9:20 a.m. my boyfriend called and said that the service company had called and they were not coming out.
I called them back and again spoke to an unidentified female. She indicated that they called my boyfriend's phone at 9:00 a.m., he called them back at 9:20 a.m. I was on the phone with the female at 9:25 a.m. She indicated that I should have called at 8:30 a.m. and that they never call their customers because they don't have time to call them all. She said that when my boyfriend didn't answer the phone at 9:00 a.m., they had to send their tech on to the next call because, "they can't have their tech waiting around 20 - 30 minutes on customers to answer their phone". When I told her that I took my only vacation day to be home for this call, she indicated that I would have to reschedule for another day because their tech was already on his way to another city. I then stated that I thought that was ** and she hung up on me.
I called and spoke with the store manager at Lowe's in Shepherdsville, KY. He called Maytag Service Co and was told that I used profanity and was rude and that I would not provide them with an alternate number. Most if not all of these are lies. I did say **, but I was not rude and I was never asked for an alternate number. I give out my number and my boyfriend's number to almost any company we deal with. My boyfriend is also a service technician for Icee Corporation and he is not allowed to be on a cell phone in his work truck; therefore I always give both numbers since I can easily answer the phone throughout the day. The store manager made several attempts to try to find another company to come out and service our dryer, but cannot find anyone to come before tomorrow. Since I used my only vacation day today, I cannot be here for the technician and my boyfriend doesn't have any vacation or sick time to take to be home for the call.
I cannot believe that after spending over $1300 on a Whirlpool Washer and Dryer set (including several hundred dollars for the extended warranty), that we cannot get our dryer serviced at our convenience. Since when did companies only repair or back up their products at their convenience? This in my opinion is the worst customer service I have ever seen. I thought Whirlpool/Maytag was a good company; now I'm not so sure. I just wish I could return the set and do more research and find a quality appliance that won't break down 2 times in less than a year!!

I purchased a new Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine from DeWaard & Bode at Bellingham, WA in January of 2007. The serial number is **** and the model number is ****. Several months ago, the dreaded F1 code appeared. The code initiates when the washing machine is started and must be cancelled and started 3 times to continue washing. Later, with approximately 19 minutes left in the cycle, the code reappears and requires canceling and restarting another 3 times, at times 4. I have no extended warranty so I have no coverage for repairs. I also don't want to pay for a service call for what is most likely the computer module as evidenced from the majority of complaints online. This washing machine still looks new and works other than the inconvenience of having to stand by when starting the cycle to reset the code and then having to run upstairs later to reset the machine when it's partially through the cycle. At some point, it will likely quit operating all together.
I have purchased several appliances over the years from DeWaard & Bode and will be replacing all kitchen appliances again next year due to a planned remodeling but at this time, I do not intend to get them locally due to this issue. I have reviewed several comments online and feel that Whirlpool has a real problem with this particular machine that they refuse to be responsible of. I was offered an extended service plan for 1 year at $132.01 or 3 years for $336.61 but I'd have to wait to be allowed to utilize it due to existing circumstances. I'm not sure if a fix is actually available. The local dealer did not offer any assistance.

I bought a Whirlpool WFW9470 Front Loader Washing Machine 11 months ago. The washer appears to complete a wash cycle but leaves the washing wet and with no error message or light. Whirlpool says the machine is not designed for "light loads". The technician says washing on a light load will damage the bearing. We had the spin bearing replaced after 8 months. But still, the washing remains wet and the bearing wears out prematurely.

We bought our Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine and dryer in October 2010 and it was the worst purchase we have ever made. We had two worthless calls to Whirlpool and all the regular brain-dead suggestions that do not improve function. We have had a technician out to our home and we have the extended warranty. The technician stated that the machine will never function properly and Whirlpool knows this. The low water level prevents washing, rinsing. The problems with the washing machine are many and the required multiple washes and rinses make the claim for low energy usage false advertising.
It leaves white streaks on dark clothes constantly and has residue on everything from sheets to silks, no matter the cycle. There's not enough water which covers the clothes, so clothes do not get clean. The spin cycle is so violent that clothes are damaged. The soak cycle is a joke. Soaking means to sit in water and soak. This machine drains the water so there is no soaking. With this very expensive machine, we can use only one cycle; bulky items on the low spin with a repeat rinse. According to the technician, these complaints are what they respond to all day, everyday. There is no mechanical fix for this design flawed machine. If you are looking at buying this machine, don't!
The machine has ruined lots of laundry. Do not waste your money or your time. I would like my money back. The Whirlpool company definitely plays dumb on the customer service calls. It's a non-functional washer as it damages laundry and has false claim for low energy usage.

I purchased the Whirlpool Duet washing machine October 2010. When I first got the washing machine, it shook the house (new stick built house) when it was on the spin cycle. They had a repair man come out to tell me that there was nothing wrong with it, it was fine as it was. We thought it was ridiculous, but we are young and didn't know better.
He also told us we should fill up the washing machine more than what we where because the clothes wash better when it's packed. Big mistake on our behalf! The washing machine has ate thousands of dollars worth of clothing. We did what we where told, so we thought we were doing something wrong. Little did we know we were doing nothing wrong. It was the machine. Then a sock found its way to the drainage field which let water pour out of the washing machine throughout the laundry room and going to the rest of the house.
What a mess. We called and they found the problem and removed the sock. Still didn't fix the damaged clothing issue. I called them 1 year and 7 days after we got it and Whirlpool still won't cover their product. They said they where sorry they couldn't help. Well "couldn't" and "won't" are two separate things. It's a shame they won't stand behind their product after I bought over $6,000 appliances from them. You think they'd be a little more compassionate to their customers after spending that much money? Now you know how they treat their customers. Don't buy Whirlpool. They (Whirlpool, Maytag, etc. ) are maybe cheaper than their competitors, but it's probably worth the extra money if you know they'll stand behind their product. Very unhappy customer!

I bought a Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer in 2008 and it began showing F71 and F70 error code in 2011. I paid approximately $1,000 for the machine. The washer won't finish the cycles and often won't start. When I press the power button, I hear the 3 beeps and after a while, shows the F71 error over and over. The information I gathered online indicates that many people have the same problem. The repair cost is at least $550 to replace the user interface circuit board and is no guarantee. This is ridiculous.
How could GE sell consumers this kind of junk that fails to work only after 2 years. I had a top loader for 12 years with no problems, not a single repair call. My wife and I are extremely frustrated with piles of dirty clothes and no washer to clean them. I want GE to refund the cost of the washer on a 10-year prorated basis. This is only fair.

The dryer is equally terrible. As I write this, I have two pairs of jeans going through the dryer for the third time. According to the technician, a heat sensor determines whether the clothes are dry. We have not had one load of laundry, big or small, that has dried in one cycle. But the technician said that this is how this machine works. We have tried all the cycles. According to Customer Service, "the technicians found nothing wrong with the machines" hence, we will have to pay for the next repair call. If you are looking at this machine and dryer, don't! This year, the motherboard went out and cost me $362. It was replaced and that same day, went bad again. I had to wait a week for the repair and it cost me $244 for repair.
The dryer: In February 2011, the fuse went bad and was replaced. It cost $125. In August 2011, the dryer's motherboard died and was replaced for the cost of $212. I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio on October 27th, 2010. The Cabrio is always giving me the "UL" code, which indicates the load isn't in balance. I've been doing laundry for 27 years. I know how to load dirty clothes into a washing machine evenly. Sometimes it will take me all day to do one load of laundry! Seven months after my purchase, my Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine started giving me the F51 error code. I called the phone number on my Lowe's receipt for warranty work. Two weeks later, I finally had my washing machine running again. I was happy and thought I'd only have to deal with the "UL" code. Boy was I wrong?!
Now I'm two weeks away from my warranty expiring. I'm getting the F51 error code again! This washing machine is an $800 piece of junk! Hopefully, I can get the Cabrio repaired before my warranty expires in two weeks. I do a lot of laundry. We are a family of six. So, I know I'm hard on washing machines but come on. Shouldn't an $800 washing machine last at least two years? I'm not even a full year into owning this junky washer and I've had two breakdowns! In my opinion, this washing machine needs to be recalled and people need a reliable replacement or refund.

Originally, I loved my machine. At the one year mark, my washing machine began a f51 error code. I looked it up and it had a recall. The entire board had to be replaced. Now, I keep getting a ul code and it will not quit. Also, the inside of the top is rusting out so badly that chunks of rust fall into the washing machine and stain my clothes.
I wish Whirlpool would fix these common errors. I see many other people complaining online that the same thing is happening over and over.

I purchased Whirlpool Duet HT front-load washing machine with model #GHW9400PLO. After a year of owning the product, failure codes continued to appear. I have followed the direction under the troubleshooting page which said to cancel and unplug the unit. After doing this over and over, I finally took the top lid off to inspect the problem. A ribbon cable was torn due to the top lid rubbing against the lid and the drum. I called Whirlpool and this was not covered (go figure). I then asked for the ribbon cable and they said they cannot just supply the ribbon cable and that I would have to buy the user interface which is $191 plus a $35 core fee because they re-bill them. What a rip off.
A ribbon cable from a computer store would only cost $10.00. After that repair the Micro Machine control went out which is code F11. Code F11 is all over the web because this is a defective part that Whirlpool should do a recall on but why do that when they can charge $310 plus, get this another $35 core charge because they re-bill them? If you are not mechanically inclined with these parts plus labor you could have bought 2 washing machines. But who in the world would buy 2 pieces of junk right?
Bottom line is: do your research and buy from a company that will stand behind their product because Whirlpool will not! They know by the number of parts they ship out that that part should be recalled.

Within 3 months, a penny slipped through to the pump causing the loud agitation and leaking. I called the warranty company A&E. They removed the coin and instructed me on removing coins from clothing. As if I did not check already. Within 3 months, another penny slipped though, so I called A&E again. This repeated at least 4 times. The last time was when A&E replaced the pump. Another coin is now lodged in the pump. A&E refuses to come out since "this is my negligence". I have 2 years left on my warranty and the warranty company will no longer repair my machine. It is obvious that this machine is missing a part that blocks objects from entering the water line and pump! How dumb do they think we are! If you have to use a warranty they will find fine print to deny service!

Almost one year to the day, our washer started banging again. The washer is no longer under warranty. We were told the parts are around $400 plus and another $400 for labor.
The repairman was from the store we bought the washer and he is a certified Whirlpool repairman. He related to us that this is a very common occurrence for Whirlpool washers because they are using cheap foreign made bearings. He services this problem on a weekly basis and Whirlpool will not do a recall because unless it is a safety hazard, it is not a concern to them if consumers have to pay out the nose for cheaply made parts. This repairman informed us that during training at a Whirlpool class, he learned that on the main board of the washers, they could put a 2 cent lamp that would indicate a bad board which would simplify diagnosis, expedite repair and reduce service time, but Whirlpool won't do it because it isn't cost effective. I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio a few months ago. Every time we do a load of laundry, the clothes are not getting cleaned. Dark colored clothing, including grey clothing, comes out of the washer with white residue, streaked all over the clothes. We have to rub the residue into the clothes to make it go away. If we attempt to dry it and do not get the residue scrubbed off the fabric, when the clothes get dried, there are white streaks in the clothes. This is extremely frustrating. We spend a lot of time getting the residue rubbed into the fabric every time we do a load of laundry.
The local appliance store has told us that perhaps we are using too much soap. We have used nothing but the high efficiency soap, as recommended by Whirlpool, and have reduced the amount of soap per their suggestion. It is now to the point where we are using hardly any soap at all, in the hopes that we would not have to spend 30 minutes working on the clothes after every load. That has not worked. The white residue is still all over the clothes, and since we are using less soap, I don't think our clothes are actually getting cleaned.
When we wash a load of whites, they aren't getting cleaned at all, even when we use bleach. In fact, when I compare brand new undergarments with recently bought undergarments that have been washed a few times, the ones that have been washed a few times are noticeably different in color, they are actually starting to turn grey in color.
I have used Affresh in the washing machine, per the manufacturers suggestion, numerous times. We had thought maybe that was the problem. But even the load right after the Affresh treatment leaves the white residue or does not get the clothes cleaned.
This washing machine was close to $700.00, and I feel that for that amount of money, I should be able to expect clean clothes. I have never had a problem with a Whirlpool product before, so I had no qualms about purchasing this washing machine. At first, I thought maybe it just needed to get broken in, that it would stop leaving the residue after it had been used a few times. However, that has not been the case. I have tried everything I can think of to improve the performance of this washing machine, but nothing helps.
When I contacted the local appliance store to complain, they suggested I cut back on the soap. I told them that I had tried that and it didn't work. They told me to use Affresh, I told them I did that. I asked them if they would take the washing machine back; let me trade it in for something else. I would even be willing to get a cheaper washing machine, I just wanted something that worked. They told me they couldn't do that. Even though I was still under warranty, unless it was broke, they couldn't do anything, and even then, all they could do would be to try to fix it. They couldn't take it back and give me a different washing machine.
The experience I have had with this washing machine is the worst experience I have ever had with an appliance. I had always thought of Whirlpool as a trusted brand for appliances, but if this washing machine is any indication of how they now makes appliances, I will never buy another one of their shoddy products again; and you can guarantee I will be telling my friends, family, and coworkers not to buy Whirlpool products either.

Called customer (no) service and they advised that we needed to call a service tech because he has a "special tool" to unlock the door. It turns out to be the control panel, which costs $250 + labor and would total to around $500, give or take a little. We are in our 60's, my wife does not take in laundry and the ice dispenser was seldom used because I can sneeze ice faster than this can dispense it so I open the freezer door to get my ice.

We expected it to last several years, only to find out that we would have to spend almost as much as the washer originally cost in order to fix it. We paid $700 for this machine, two years ago, and I can say that I've never been more disappointed with a product in my life. My previous washer lasted thirteen years, not to mention my dryer and stove fifteen years, with minimal repairs.
I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance again. I have read some other complaints on this consumer affairs website, as well as other sites, regarding this same washer with the same problem on the bearing and cost to repair. If anything, I think Whirlpool should make good on this product and offer something regarding a recall or payment for repair in some form. As far as I'm concerned, I will alert everyone I know about Whirlpool appliances and advise them not to purchase it.
Now, I either have to pay over $500 to repair my washer or go buy another one. I do not even want this Whirlpool appliance in my house when I can get a washer for cheaper than the cost to repair it.

It does not clean my clothes! I have white towels in my bathrooms, I have them for years. They have always come out perfectly white with the regular washer I had for years. Not any more! They now come out with yellow spots all over them. Dark clothes come out with a white residue on them that looks like there has been a napkin in the wash. I talked to Sears where I purchased it, they said I might be using too much detergent, so I have tried using less to no avail! I hate my washer!

I have had Whirlpool appliances for a very long time. However, I am extremely dissatisfied with the purchase of my last Whirlpool washer a couple of years ago. The washer is extremely noisy, to begin with, and I complained to hhgregg about this. They delivered a couple of other machines, all of which were very noisy. The latest problem with this machine has been with the tearing my clothes. My clothing gets caught under the agitator and the items tear. This is a poorly designed washer and I wish I had never purchased it. I was thinking and wrongly so, that the washer would be as good as my previous washers. Well, I was so very wrong.
I wish to know what you are going to do for me with this problem which is so very annoying and costly.

But the very next day, my appliance showed the faults again. It was rectified with replacement of PCB and I was charged 2786/- on 01-20-2011. Again on 09-04-2011, the machine became defective. On the call to service center on 09-05-2011 and attended by engineer on 09-06-2011, I was informed that PCB is defective. I failed to understand that the PCB replaced in January was of what quality that it has to be replaced now after such a short span of time. I feel that this is clear cheating with me.

We purchased a brand new Cabrio washer and dryer in December 2010. We didn't move into the new house until February 2011 to start using the appliances. Last week, we called a repairman in to see what was wrong with the machine because it was making such strange sounds. He said it needed 3 new parts including a gear. The gear he took out was broken and gummed up with soap. We were told by an appliance salesperson that the water should never have been able to get to the gear. Parts were to be here by Tuesday of this week and the machine repaired. They called to reschedule yesterday. I called them this morning and they said the tub and another part would be delivered today, but the gear would not be sent out until September 12. This is a brand new machine which was obviously sent out of the factory with a defect. It doesn't clean properly and sounds like an airplane ready for take-off. I have never heard a machine this loud.
We are going out and purchase another brand. My advice: Don't buy Whirlpool!

I have the 4.3 cu. ft. washer. This washer worked OK, but the lid lock does fail after about one year if the washer is in an environment where moisture may be present.
I noticed the lid lock not working all the time about two months before the warranty expired. If this happens, call the warranty department immediately. After checking the ground wire and resetting the washer power over and over again, the lid lock finally stopped working completely. Here is how to fix it:
There are two screws on the back of the top portion of the washer. Unscrew them from the silver straps. The washer lid will now push forward and up and off. Prop it up with a stick.
Unscrew the two screws on the lid lock and start taking it apart (after reading this entire review). Be careful not to lose any parts and be sure to know where everything goes for re-assembly. Take pictures if necessary. Take the lid lock completely apart including any small pieces.
The plastic slide needs to be cleaned. It has a spring that may fall when you pull it apart.
The metal contact points inside the lid lock mechanism need to be cleaned. Be extremely careful when pulling the red cover off of the housing assembly. Pull the four metal contact points completely out of the plastic assembly. Be real careful with the black plastic slide piece, the metal rocker switch and the switch actuating motor. Use a small file and rubbing alcohol to clean off any green or white corrosion. Make sure to check all contact points.
Re-assemble and you will immediately notice the lock switch working better. Re-install onto the machine. Re-install the upper portion of the washer. Start your laundry. Repeat after one year or when the lid lock becomes faulty again. These points should have been made out of a less corrosive material. Poor craftsmanship. Would not recommend.

The parts alone are nearly $500 and the labor is estimated to take 3-4 hours by a trained technician. We are talking about an $800 repair --more than a new machine would cost. The most disconcerting part is to see how often this is happening. It is commonplace. The bearings go out on these things, sometimes after only a year or two, sometimes after 3 or 4; but it is very rare to have any machine go longer than 6-7 years. Whirlpool won't do anything. I bought a Whirlpool washing machine on 16 Feb 2011. I started having problems with it in June. It was making very loud noises when it was agitating and the clothes were still wet after the spin cycle. I called Nebraska Furniture Mart where I purchased it and they said that after 30 days, I had to call the manufacturer. I called Whirlpool and they sent A&E out to fix it. The technician that came out spent an hour trying to figure out what was wrong with it. When he was gone, I was left with two inches of water on my washroom floor and I had to pull the washer and dryer out myself to wipe it up. He ordered a part that came the next week and a different technician came out to put it in.
After looking at the washer, the second technician said that the first technician diagnosed it wrong and he ordered a new transmission for it. About a week later, the transmission arrived at my house and a third technician came to install it. The washer worked for a few days and started acting up again and leaking water. I once again called Whirlpool and they sent yet another technician out. I told Whirlpool that I had lost faith in A&E so they sent All Appliances out.
The technician from All Appliances said that it needed a transmission and he would have to order it in. A few days later, he came back to install it. It worked for a few loads. The leaking had stopped but now, it does not spin out the clothes. To make matters worse, it now releases the Downy at the wrong time and I now have blue spots all over my clothes.
I have made repeated calls to Whirlpool and talked to two different managers. I asked the first manager for her direct number so I wouldn't have to go through the whole explanation again if I needed to call back. But she gave me her number without her 4-digit extension so, there was no way of finding her again. When I talked to the second manager (by this time, I have lost my patience), I told him my whole story and I told him that Whirlpool has spent $1,000.00 between parts and technician service on a $460.00 machine and it still doesn't work. It is a lemon and I deserve a voucher for the full price to purchase something different.
After one and a half hours on the phone, Lukas informed me that the only thing he could do was to send yet another technician to my home. I have lost all faith in Whirlpool and I believe that they do not stand behind their product. They only push you until the warranty has expired! I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance again!

I paid a higher price for what I thought was quality only to find out that this washing machine (WTW6600SW2) Serial number CU2973872 is in fact poor quality, made of components that are cheap, unreliable and made to last only as long as the initial warranty. Prior to buying Whirlpool, I owned Kenmore and had a washer and dry that raised four kids, now I own a "Top of the line Cabrio" that can't wash the clothes of two adults.
I think it is funny that two days after the washer started sounding like a jet plane taking off during the spin cycle, I received your sign up for an extended warranty letter. Then I take the washer apart to locate the trouble and find it is a single bearing on the top of the drive shaft, but can I buy the bearing and replace it? No, I have to buy the entire outer tub and drive shaft. So a $10.00 bearing will now cost me $200.00. I am sure that helps your profit margins considering all you have to do is a search for Cabrio problems to find 350,000 hits, or to ask a professional technician and receive the reply that they are replacing 2-3 of these tub and drive shafts per week.
I would recommend that Whirlpool tell its shareholders that you have compromised customer satisfaction to line their pockets with profits. If that was your intent then you have succeeded, however you need to also tell them to sell their shares now as you will have no return customers. Most corporations have core values that deal with safety first and then always followed by quality. I can say with confidence that your quality can be nowhere near the top five with this many problems with your top of the line product.

Then after being on hold for forever and getting the company that sold me the unit involved, they replaced the washer at no charge.
From day one I hated this washer machine. If you failed to take the clothes out immediately after washing, they would get a musty type odor and I never felt the clothes got cleaned enough. Yesterday, I went to empty a load of laundry and it was soaking wet with water pooling in the bottom of the barrel. I contacted Whirlpool on several occasions only to be told that they would send a technician out to see if there was something wrong. The technician would report that the washer was working properly and Whirlpool would then tell me, "sorry, we can't do anything about it".
I asked them if a washer was supposed to clean your clothes and unravel them? Yes, it is supposed to clean them. Well, it's not doing that. No, it is not supposed to unravel and destroy them but well, it IS doing that! Therefore, the washer is not working properly. Just because a technician can not physically find something wrong with it, doesn't mean it is a poor functioning washer. After 32 years of marriage and nothing but Whirlpool (because my mother swore by Whirlpool), that is all we have used. I am so disappointed in the Cabrio washer/dryer set we purchased at Lowe's.
After 18 months, the dryer just quit. The best part is, we hang clothes out most of the time. It was used one winter, $1400 wasted. We put a cheap Admiral in our second home and spent $500 total and they work fine.
I will never ever purchase Whirlpool anything or recommend to anyone. Again, you lost a family tradition.

We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine in September 2006, and have had nothing, but problems. I constantly have to get online to check error codes. Several months ago, the washer just stopped working. We called Whirlpool technical support. They said we'd have to pay for a repair. After several calls to Whirlpool for help, I found online references to a recall for the same problem. Whirlpool NEVER mentioned that the washer was recalled for the very same problem. I called them back with the recall information, and they politely sent someone out to rebuild the washer.
Less than a year later it is no longer working, again. I went online first this time, to check for further recalls and complaints about the current problem (faulty control panel). I found many complaints about the same problem--even a reference to a class action law suit. Whirlpool said they were unaware of the problem, didn't have many complaints, and are unwilling to help. I asked for a supervisor, Benjamin, and he said there was NO means by which I could further escalate my complaint.

We purchased the Whirlpool Duet (front loader) washer and dryer in 2005 from Best Buy. We had many problems with the washer leaking around the front door. After several visits, Best Buy (in 2007) said we could pick out a new washer. We picked out the Whirlpool Cabrio. About 2 years later the mother board had to be replaced on the Cabrio. We are constantly getting "F" codes and have to unplug the washer several times for it to reset. It also sounds like a plane getting ready to take off and from what I read that repair is very costly. It has been leaking as well.
I contacted Whirlpool today and they informed me that there was no recall on the machine and when I told them that there were many complaints for the same issues online, they said they do not base their recalls on blogs and to fix the problem, I would have to incur the cost. This machine is the biggest piece of junk that I have ever owned. I will be sure not purchase a Whirlpool in the future!

Cabrio washer and dryer are not energy saver by any means! Have had the pair for almost 1 year and have spent at least 3 years of washing and drying time with these. What use to take 30 minutes to wash now takes at least 48 or more and the dryer has to be run twice on lots of loads to dry! The other thing is, with no water in the tub it really does not have a soak cycle to get really dirty stuff clean, so you wash things 2 or 3 times! Now I know why I see these washers and dryers like new in the used stores for $200 to $300. Thanks for the junk Whirlpool.

Technicians have visited 4 times in 7 months. At this point, I forsee more problems in the future. I spoke to a supervisor at Whirlpool and I asked if the washer could be exchanged. I was told, "If it is repairable then we will continue to repair it". I was also told that I could purchase an additional 1 or 2 year warranty. A comment like that makes me believe that the company foresees problems in the future as well. Several calls in the past and service visits (at my cost) did not rectify the problem. Although there are many similar complaints on this machine regarding the loud noise and resulting problems during the spin cycle that involve the tub and rods, the representative said "So sorry" or "Too bad we cannot not help you".
My machine now does not run and is less than 4 years old --just like every other report. I get an error message "F" which the representative alluded to something involving the electronics. Machines purchased in 2004 from Whirlpool have across-the-board similar problems that Whirlpool refuses to take ownership for. This machine is their top of the line model. I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio set 3 years ago based on their brand reputation and consumer reports. It has been a terrible experience since the moment the warranty expired. First, about 1 month after warranty expired, I had to replace the main electrical board. Then about 3 weeks ago, the drain pump failed. I purchased the $110 pump and installed it myself. Now this week, the spin cycle sounded like a jet engine. I took it apart to find that the bearings were shot on the drive shaft. I figured, well it is just a wear item, understandable right? So I went to order parts and got told that I have to order the whole outer tub for $250 with shipping! For some bearings!
I called Whirlpool directly and was given no explanation other than "Call some parts distributors. They may be able to help you get the bearing separate, but we don't do that and there is nothing that we can do". Amazing. I equate that to having a faulty brake on my car and being told that I have to replace the whole axle!
Fortunately, the washer never really did a great job. It was loud and tore clothes up, so the decision to part ways was not too difficult. I have the list of brands they make and will be sure to never buy another. I'm selling this one for parts. I'm sure there are others out there that will need a pump and control board soon!

After waiting for several weeks and getting lots of promises, I talk to a guy from Whirlpool that tells me if the parts aren't found by Friday of this week, we will replace your machine with a new one.
Of course on Friday when I call back I get, “Sorry ma’am, there is no way we would do such a thing. You'll just have to wait for the parts.” Finally, after five weeks got all the parts, tub, outer tub with bearing, and computer module.
I set my repair appointment which took five days, and they call 20 minutes before and made a cancellation. I was beyond frustrated. So, I called the technician who originally came to my house on his cell (caller ID is great, don't forget to write this number down). He promised me he will come the next day to install my parts and he did. Thank you Larry; but after three loads my machine again goes psycho. It started beeping randomly; beeping and jumping from cycle to cycle.
I go in this morning to start and load before I leave, so I don't have to listen to the beeping, and it won't even turn on. I think Whirlpool thinks we can all take 2-3 off of work a week, to sit around and wait for someone to show, diagnose our problem, and then come back yet another day to repair it. I think this company should reimburse its clients for all the time they have wasted, and time off of work. If I add it all up I would probably been better off buying a new machine.

I've had 2 certified techs look at the machine and they determined that there was nothing mechanically wrong. If the machine is operating as designed, it is not under warranty. Yet the machine continually has the issues listed below.
The machine ties the clothes in knots. They are so wrinkled that I have to iron everything, even cotton undershirts. Sometimes the wrinkles are so bad I have to send items to the dry cleaners to be pressed. It has ruined several underwire bras. It has ruined several beaded tops. The beads were ripped off. Several sweaters were tied in knots so badly that they were stretched out of shape to the point that they had to be thrown away. I have to go to the laundromat with my dark clothes because the machine leaves soap residue on all the clothes.
Dress shirts go through the complete cycle with extra rinse and come out so tied in knots that they aren't even wet. The economic damage is that I purchased the machine because it was supposed to be eco-friendly. But in reality I have use the extra rinse cycle with each load. Then I still have to take some loads to the laundromat or cleaners. Extra water, extra money, extra gas, extra time and most important extra stress! I want to exchange this for a different model.

A little longer than 30 days after that repair, the machine could not balance a load while in the rinse and final spin. The clothes started to get very twisted as well. I spent $69 for factory auth. tech to come look at it. Nothing wrong that he could find. He did adjust the rods that hold the bucket.

I was told by several retail dealers that this is a major problem. When I called and spoke to Yvette, asst. of Jeff *********, she said that it is not Whirlpool's problem when the product is out of warranty. We bought a Whirlpool GEQ9800PW2 super capacity dryer about four years ago and the motor is already blown in it. What a supreme piece of junk it is. We'll never buy another Whirlpool appliance. We had a repairman (contacted through Whirlpool) look at it, and spent $85 just to be told that it would be cheaper to get a new dryer and that this one was old anyway - yes, their repairpeople refer to a 4 year old dryer as "old". Tells you how long they expect them to last.

I purchased a Whirlpool Duet Front Loader in 2007, model number GHW9150PW1. In June 2009, the rear bearing went bad. I contacted Whirlpool, and they paid half of the parts' cost of $240. On March 7, 2011, the rear bearing went bad again. Whirlpool told us that there is nothing they can do. We have to pay entire cost to repair the washer.
The washer parts were for $120 in 2009, and now in 2011, we are facing to pay $240. We are lucky that my husband can repair this washer as this is normally a $1,000 job but are weary of having to spend another $240 in a $1,000 washer that is only 5 years old. Don't ever buy a Whirlpool Duet Front Loader!

Our Whirlpool Duet Washing Machine started to make a small different noise when spinning at high speeds at about 11 months and steadily got worse. At 13 months, we had to close the door to the laundry room to hear each other talk. We brought it to an authorized Whirlpool repair shop. They said the bearing is going out. They recommended contacting Whirlpool even though we are one month out of warranty. The repair person felt that this failure should not have happened. The fix is a new bearing, seal and tub, over $450 just for the parts.
Whirlpool warranty said that if we would have reported it before the 1 year warranty was up, they would have covered it. I stated that my previous Whirlpool machine is still running after 18 years at my brother's house. I have paid 3 times as much for a machine that has only lasted 13 months. They stated that humans make the machines and sometimes mistakes are made, that is why you should purchase the extended warranty. I was not frustrated until the person told me that. My interpretation of the statement is that buying a machine from Whirlpool that lasts more than 13 months is just random luck. I cannot believe they would not at least pay for parts.

On Nov. 2009, I bought whirlpools new high end washer and dryer, the duvet steam. On august, the washer was making a very loud noise and came to find out that the bearing went out and had to be fixed.
After a month of waiting for the parts, it was finally fixed since it was under warranty. Then on Feb, 6 months after the first repair, the bearing went out again. When the bearing goes out, the whole drum has to be replaced. This is a $1000 repair. Since my washer is no longer under warranty, whirlpool will not stand behind their product even though I have a reoccurring issue. Do not buy this washer as it seems to be a theme in their product.

I sent a letter to Marc Bitzer, President of Whirlpool North America, to complain about my Maytag Atlantis washing machine, I also sent copies of the bills for all the parts I had to buy to repair this washer. Maytag had used cheaper, inferior parts. A customer service representative called in response to my letter. She stated that since I bought the washer in 2003 (which was before Whirlpool bought Maytag), that Whirlpool was not responsible for this defective washer. Therefore, they would not be able to help in any way. I think this is poor customer relations and I will never buy any Whirlpool products in the future. The parts I bought cost me $173.00.

We have a Cabrio Washer and Dryer. A few weeks ago, the washer started making a grinding noise during the spin cycle. We pulled it apart and found that the tub seal had leaked slightly onto the top bearing. I called around and looked online finding that Whirlpool does not sell these parts. There is even a Whirlpool part number on the seal. I contacted Whirlpool, they never responded. I found a bearing supplier online and matched the part number and luckily got them replaced.
I'm disappointed that I need $20 worth of parts that I would be able to get for any normal washer, and Whirlpool won't even talk to me about selling them to me.

I am an owner of a Maytag Neptune Top Load Clothes Washer, model: FAV6800AWW. The main bearing leaked and water damaged the need bearing assembly within the clutch system. This is obviously a defect, as the machine is only five years old. I contact local Maytag repair shop and was advised that the cost to fix was more than the cost of replacing new, including labor. The new machine was running about $1000. Maytag won't supply the bearings as a separate part. They bundle everything and the lowest package with a bunch of other unneeded parts costs about $250. The parts I need (two bearings) should be about 10 dollars. I elected to try to do the repairs myself, with much frustration.
I ordered the clutch assembly from a parts dealer in the US and received Maytag's sealed box. I opened the box and the instruction sheet states that there should be three individual components in the box; mine was missing one. I contacted the seller and he indicated that Maytag was no longer selling that part, as it was defective. This part is critical to the functioning of this machine.
Now, I am holding parts that are useless, a machine that is useless, and I cannot fix this major appliance for which good money was spent on the initial purchase; for which the machine is only five years old; and for which I appear to have no recourse.
In the process, I learned that Whirlpool is the parent company and that they offer no assistance to any customers for defective machines, charge outrageous amounts for small parts, and have a monopoly on the whole appliance system; they don't care. If you don't like Maytag, buy Whirlpool and if you don't like Whirlpool, buy Amana and it goes on and on. They own it all and the customer is left with nothing. Reviews are ridiculous and show just how frustrated owners are with these products. They make a machine to last the one-year warranty period, and screw the customer thereafter.
I have spent countless hours trying to address this. This is absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. I am out not only for the initial high cost of the machine, but now own an expensive parts that I have ordered to do the repair, of which is useless because they stated that the part was in the box, but ended up discontinuing manufacture of the defective part and are no longer supporting providing replacement parts. This whole situation is analogous to buying a new car from the dealership, for which the dealer now states that they no longer support providing parts after the purchase has been made and they have your money. This is no chump change. These guys need to be sued and the courts need to address this company by giving them high punitive damages. This is enough already.

I have a Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer. On April 2005, I purchased a service plan for five years which would expire on April 2010. I received a renewal form on April 2008 which would cover me for an additional year. It claimed that my washer and dryer was out of contract.
I needed service on my washer so on July 24th 2009, I talked with Allison and I was told that my warranty expired on April 2008. I went through my records to find that I paid them through April 3rd 2011. I was told that they would issue me a new agreement number so that I can call for service. I did not hear from them so I called and talked with Nicole on September 2nd. She said that I would get a call back and I talked with Brad. He said to fax, at 812-542-2387, proof to Supervisor Janet. I faxed five pages and I received a call back with a new contract number which I was assured that it was through April 2011.
I called for service in December 2010 and talked with Angelique, who told me that my contract has expired. I told them that it expires April 2011. She reviewed my record and said that I was correct and it would be submitted for a new contract number so that I may get my washer repaired. They would call me with new number in a few days. I called back on January 4th 2011 and talked with Tina. She told me the same thing. I called back on January 12th 2011 and she said that it was not processed and she would do it today.
I am very upset that they are dragging their feet and hoping to drag this out until April 3rd 2011, when my contract expires. I feel that they owe me additional time on my contract.

Update 1/4/10: I finally received a reply from Whirlpool. In short (the way I understood it), they said that no they will not stand behind their product and that I should be happy with the warranty covering the repairs. Never mind, this washer will be useless within months of the warranty being up (just like it's useless now as we wait for them to replace 'all the guts' of it). And never mind that we paid several hundred dollars in good faith of receiving a machine that would work for more than mere months and would not destroy thousands of dollars in clothing.
Update 1/27/10: Because of what a serious problem this washer is (and I'm sure it will continue to be), I contacted the Whirlpool representative who contacted us through another consumer review site I posted these all on first. I asked if there was any way we can return and be refunded for the washer as it's an obviously defective model and replacing the parts is only going to last a few months before we start this whole process over again, destroying more clothing and shortly having to also pay out of pocket for the repairs. I will update with what we are to be told.

The next day, the washer and dryer stopped working. We contacted the customer solution center and they said it would be over a week before someone could come by.
After much complaining, they finally moved it to three days later (Monday, in which I would have to take off again). Finally, I tried the local store to see if they could help. After much exasperation, I asked them to pick up the units and refund our money. They said it would be a week before they could pick them up. It would be another 7 to 10 days after then before we would get our money back. It is a shame that they are only nice and helpful when they are trying to sell you something. I had bought a Whirlpool duet sports washer and dryer in March of 2009. Ever since I bought this machine it has screwed up. The majority of the time I would wash clothes I would get errors, some the same, sometimes they would be different. My clothes would get locked into the machine but luckily after dealing with this problem so many times, I figured out how to get them out myself.
I have had a repair man come out three times, most of the time he pulled a sock out and said that is the problem. Well he was only here less than 2 months ago and the other day when I went to wash my clothes, on top of the bouncing off the floor sound that the washer always makes, there was a weird clicking noise. I ran downstairs and went to open the machine and literally, the whole front piece was not attached! I had to move around the washer to actually get into since it was 3 feet away from where it was supposed to sit.
Luckily, it was not full of water to go everywhere at that point or we would have had a mess. I called Whirlpool to ask who they were sending out today and they told me the same guy! When I called a week ago, we agreed upon someone else since this guy was not fixing the problems! I am mad. I told them to shove it and I would find a way to buy a new washer and never again will I buy Whirlpool products or recommend them.

On Thanksgiving Day, 2010, our washer suddenly ceased working, flooding our floor. On the Friday following Thanksgiving, we contacted Whirlpool who set a service appointment for 12-01-10. The repair person informed us that we needed a part, called a bellow, and that it would be sent to our home by December 10, 2010. On 12-13-2010, after having received no bellow, Whirlpool informed us that the part was "back-ordered" until at least 12-24-10, and would be mailed then.
We were repeatedly placed on hold for lengthy periods of time, and hung-up on by Whirlpool, when attempting to find a more reasonable solution than waiting a month for our washer to be repaired. We are a family of eight, with six children, and do approximately 2-3 loads of wash a day. This major inconvenience in our lives has caused us to spend an average of $6.00 a day at the laundry mat. We were repeatedly misinformed and misled by Whirlpool as to when our part would arrive, and what the corporation could do to help us.
We are concerned that the bellow will be a recurring problem and perhaps a design flaw, and have demanded a that Whirlpool offer us the ability to return, or exchange, our appliance for one that does not require this part. They have been unreceptive, and thus far unwilling to help us in this manner, leaving us without any reasonable laundry options for, at this point, a minimum of one month.
We are extremely dissatisfied.

My wife has complained from the beginning that it does not clean well. It had a problem while under warranty that the service guy said was probably caused by too much detergent, which would cause overusing and overwork the pumps that empty the machine (and also maybe not make the clothes as clean). I warned my wife (who in turn told our housekeeper) not to put too much detergent in.
She continued to complain about the clothes not being clean, and she started using Oxyclean in addition to regular (HE) detergent. Today, the repairman came out because the machine in very noisy. He said the main bearings are shot. Estimate for repair is $850. He said this model is poor design, lots of problems. The current model has a better design, but he is not sure it will actually hold up better. He said maybe I could complain to Whirlpool and get free or discounted repair parts, but the labor is still going to be $400 or so. I am not going to pay more to repair this machine than I paid for it or I could replace it for. I am thinking it is better just to buy a low tech low efficiency direct drive machine--cheapest I can find. The repair guy says there are built like a tank and problems are few and cheap to fix. My sister purchased the same set a few weeks after my purchase. This past February, my washer started giving a digital code of "F50", and would not spin. The appliance store where I purchased the machine from sent their service technician out to diagnose the problem. He installed a central control part and another part. The washer started roaring like a jet engine during spin cycles the end of March. The service tech came back out 4/1/2010 and said the center bearing had gone bad and it would cost approx. $300 to repair. I declined at that time, thinking that I could buy a new machine for not much more than that.
Ironically, my sister's washer started doing the same thing during the summer. The service tech told her to contact the manufacturer to see if they would pay for the center bearing. Whirlpool provided her with the part and all she had to pay was the labor cost. They installed the new center bearing in September and the machine is working like new. On 10/21/2010, I contacted Whirlpool Customer Service to file a formal complaint. I spoke with Diana, customer service rep. We contacted the dealer we purchased the machine and they said that it sounded like the bearing in the outer tub assembly was bad. They went on to say Whirlpool had a problem with some of the bearings a subcontractor had made for them. The repairman came, and sure enough, he said we needed part no. W10128830.
He suggested we call Whirlpool directly and perhaps they would send the part with no charge. I called Whirlpool and while they were very courteous, they said they would have to charge me for the part. I called back my dealer and asked if they could help me out with Whirlpool. The dealer called Whirlpool and they agreed to sell me the part at 25% off which came to $427.04! After the labor bill, I could probably buy a new washer. I called my dealer to inquire about the cost of a new washer and they said the $427.04 sounded too high. They called Whirlpool and discovered Whirlpool said I also needed to purchase part no. I have been doing laundry the same way for 57 years all using Whirlpool washers and dryers. My clothes do not come clean, are not soft and are being ruined.
The last serviceman sent out by Whirlpool told me the cause was the high speed of the spin cycle which helped the clothes dry faster; therefore, both the washer and dryer earn the energy star rating. Are these machines tested by the government before receiving these ratings? I bought these appliances to save water and energy to insure a better world for my grandchildren. It uses more of both to try and do a decent laundry. Be aware that Whirlpool now owns Maytag and KitchenAid and who knows what else. I will never buy anything with these brand names again.
It cost me more to do laundry now because I wash and use an extra rinse and then use an extra rinse and spin cycle. I also use white vinegar in the rinse cycle to get them to rinse better. I use a He soap, which cost more, and two dryer sheets trying to have soft towels. Finally, I realized the reason for hard clothes was because the high spin speed is taking the terry off my towels and wearing out all our clothes. It is impossible to get a sparkling white wash with this washer. I ask Whirlpool to take it back and give me a regular agitator washer even trade and they refused. Where do I go from here?

I purchased a Whirlpool Calypso Washing Machine in April of 2004. I wanted to communicate it is the worst purchase of my life. It is poorly engineered and we have experienced numerous issues with the performance of this washer. Feel free to pass this along to your R&D department. We have been a dedicated customer of Whirlpool and Maytag, but the inferiority of this product forces me to rethink the quality of their brand. In an effort to launch an innovative design while keeping product costs at a minimum, Whirlpool may have sacrificed quality in the process. I have been extremely patient and now have reached an intolerant point. As the washer ages, problems mount.
Here are the issues we have experienced the past 4-5 years. I can safely assume this isn’t the first you’re hearing of this. (1) The water outlet clogs easily and frequently from lint and soap residue. The issue occurs regularly enough where I keep the back panel off the machine. (2) Periodically an odor from this residue is transferred onto the cloths. (3) Lighter clothing items, such as socks and undergarments pass by the inner gasket in the drum and clog the water discharge. We purchased a mesh laundry bag to help prevent this from happening. (4) We now have larger items getting caught in the inner gasket and drum tearing and twisting cloths and ruining zippers. The bottom line is it is now damaging clothes forcing us to look at purchasing another washer. If it were one chronic issue, I may consider repair, but I don’t foresee any sustaining resolution to the issues stated.

My husband purchased the Cabrio Whirpool washer and dryer after much research. The washing machine puts tiny holes in all my shirts. I have tried every different setting to eliminate this problem, but nothing seems to work. A repairman came out and I paid him $130 to basically tell me that there is nothing stuck in my machine that could cause holes. Upon calling the factory- he found out that during the spin cycle the clothes may be sucked through the holes in the drum and the ragged edges are causing the holes. Who is going to replace my clothes? It will be less expensive to purchase a new washing machine. Now my dryer is not working! Both machines are only 4 years old and are both substandard products.

This is my second washer in less than one year. The first one was a Maytag front loader, supposedly the best and most expensive. What a joke. After two months after use, our clothes came out of the washer and stunk, plus clothes didn't come clean. Only to find out you have to do run the washer once a month with dishwasher cleaner. How does that save energy? More electricity, water and propane for the hot water. Got rid of it and got a Whirlpool top load, obviously whoever came up with putting all these sensors in these machines think they know more than the person who wants to have clean clothes.
We farm and get very dirty. When I want to wash in hot water, there's a reason for it, to get the clothes cleaned only to have some stupid sensor that won't let it fill to the top with just hot water. I give up. I want a washer that does what I tell it to, not some sensor some idiot came up with for the machine for whatever stupid reason. The new washers out there today, as far as I'm concerned, are all junk! If you know of a washer when you turn it to hot it actually runs hot to top plus actually gets clothes cleaned and doesn't stink after a few loads without extra maintenance, please let me know which one it is!

We bought our Cabrio washing machine and dryer in 2006, after so much research on it before purchasing. We had to call Whirlpool a few times due to the loud noises the washer makes during the spin cycle. In March 2009, the machine stopped working and once again we called Whirlpool. They sent someone from Sears over to repair it, it was showing an F1 code and the repairman told me the mother board was bad and needed to be replaced. That was $381.00 to fix.
Here we go again, it is Oct 2010 and the same exact issue has happened again. Called Whirlpool, they made an appointment for repairman to come over. Much to our surprise, this guy told me that the "mother board" on these Cabrio machines had a recall and that the first time I called about it I should not of been charged, due to the recall. He even gave me the recall number. Since the board had been replaced by the Sears repairman this guy said he has to charge us to change it again.
While he was fixing it, he showed me that it wasn't even the right board that was supposed to go in this machine. It should have a purple sticker on it and this one had a yellow one, and it should not say "made in China", which mine does. When I called Whirlpool, they gave me so many bogus stories, one, they had no record that I even called in Mar 2009 nor did they have record that I had just called on Fri Oct 9th which was only 4 days earlier. Once I mentioned about the recall, I was told there had never been a recall on this model and the repairman didn't know what he was talking about. I will keep doing what I have to do to get to the bottom of this issue and in the future we will never purchase another Whirlpool appliance ever.

I've tried changing the wash cycle, adjusting the spin speed but it stays on high no matter what I do. Can't imagine that this is good for the machine or my clothes. Called Whirlpool and they don't show anything in their troubleshooting about spin speed and suggested that I contact a repair service. I mentioned that I had researched this problem on the web and noticed that there had been lots of complaints about not only this washer but this specific problem. She was not aware of any problems, so I asked her how I could register a complaint. She gave me the address to write Whirlpool. Sure that will be successful and said that she would note my complaint on my records! And again suggested that I contact a repair service.
Having paid about $1000 for this washer 3 years ago and as others have mentioned, expected it to last at least 8-10 years as my previous, less expensive washer I have. I am extremely disappointed and will not purchase another Whirlpool product. I would also be interested if a class action suit is pursued as a result of these complaints.

We spent approx. $1000 on this machine new, about 3 1/2 years ago. The performance was great for the first 2 1/2 years. Then we began to get F codes. There is a design flaw in the circuit board, which results in scoring of a board rendering the machine inoperable. We found instructions for how to repair this on the web, so were able to do so without purchasing parts (note: my husband is a pretty handy guy). This took the better part of 1 day to do.
Fast forward six months, and the spin cycle is becoming louder and louder, until it sounds pretty much like a jet engine. Next, the start button fails. We again find instructions on the web on how to remove the console. We super glued the plastic button on as a temporary measure, and ordered a new console ($175) to replace this one when it eventually fails for good. Meanwhile, husband decides to look into why the washer is now drowning out all other sound during the spin cycle. Looking into this, (again web-based research), we find that: a) it is a failing bearing, and b) we cannot replace it without replacing the entire tub, as the bearing is sealed in. This is $600. We are now going to return the console (haven't put it on yet), and use the money from that return to finance a new washer.

I purchased a Maytag washer Model # MTW562OTQ1 two years ago. We started noticing our clothes had rust marks on them. I looked at the inside drum with a flashlight and noticed the center part of the washer drum was rusting out. I called the customer service line and they offered us a discount on the part only, not labor since our 1 year warranty had expired. Do not buy a Whirlpool or Maytag washer. They do not stand by their products. We paid for a top-of-the-line product that already needs to be replaced.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer was purchased in August 2006. The motherboard died within the first few months. I was covered under warranty but I was without a machine for over a week. In Oct 2010, the motherboard died again. The repair cost me $450.00++. It appears that many consumers have experienced similar problems.

Started getting F! Error Code when trying to use machine or midway through cycle. I have to push restart several times for cycle to either start and/or complete.

I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine three years ago. It quit working this week and gives me an error code of "F". I called a repairman who says it needs a new control panel which will cost $300 P&L. There are three in my family so I would say this washer gets mild use.

After 2 years my Whirlpool Duet washer has bearing failures, the machine sounds like a jet plane. The repair service stated that with parts and labor, the cost would be approximately $600. It's cheaper to buy a new machine. Whirlpool stated that they would sell me the parts for 50% off which is approximately $300, still with labor, this is unacceptable. Bottom line, piece of junk for the money.

Two months after using our brand new washing machine, we had to call Whirlpool and have them send someone out to look at it because it was showing errors on screen and not draining. After having to wait a week, the company that they sent never showed. Another company was finally called and after another week (two weeks in all), the original company showed up, told my husband we should be charged for the service and less than a month later the same thing has happened in which we are told we have to use the bad local service again and wait over a week!

Purchased Duet Washer and Dryer set from Menards. Purchase date 7/3/10. Delivered 7/14/10. Washer stopped working on 9/25/10. Called authorized service tech. First appointment was 9/28/10, needs parts. 2nd appointment scheduled for 10/5/10 called on 10/3/10 part on back order. Next appointment scheduled for 10/15/10 if the part comes in.
This is very poor service by Menards. We have been told that if anything goes wrong after 30 days, we deal directly with Whirlpool. It's no longer their problem. Nice way to do business. Sounds like they know exactly what they are selling. I think this should be public knowledge when making a major purchase such as this.

We purchased a Whirlpool duet steam washer and dryer in February 2009. Within the first year, we had to have the dryer serviced (we waited a week for that service), and now we are waiting to have the washer serviced. Error codes, Suds and F35, and I have been told that a part needs to be replaced? I have noticed others with the same complaints and error codes. Maybe there should be a recall. We paid far to much money for this set to have problems already. Thank God for extended warranties.

Looking online, there seems to be a repetitive problem with the Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer, Model WFW9600TW01, pressure switch. Many people reporting a suds error and then F35. Replacing the pressure switch fixes the problem. But why should a washer less than two years on the market be needing a pressure switch replacement? Recall!

My Whirlpool Washer isn't washing! I bought it 14 months ago. Two months after the warranty is up the dial is broken. The wash cycle starts and there is no water in the machine. Whirlpool will pay for the replacement part only if I use an "authorized" repairman. There is only one in my city.
