My freezer stopped working in June 2023. 4 visits by a tech later when the tech spoke to a company engineer in August 2023 who may have identified a faulty circuit board. Told the circuit board was on order but as of December 2023 there has been no repairs or even proof the circuit board was ordered. Many conversations with Thermador staff but only get rescheduled. Was a great company but now very unreliable.

Bought the entire package of Thermador appliances when building a new home in 2020. Just under a year after installation, the refrigerator auto defrost quit working and ice built up caused fan motor to rattle/whine. They replaced parts and all was covered under warranty. Just over a year later (13 months), the same problem happened. Since appliance was now out of warranty, called authorized service provider to repair and it was the same parts that had failed the first time. Paid for the repair and parts and asked Thermador to cover just the parts since it was the same that were replaced under warranty. They have been unwilling to cover anything and are slow in responding to any emails/requests. I would not buy another Thermador appliance due to poor quality and even worse customer service. For info, previously had a Sub Zero and never once had an issue in 18 years.

First, the defrost pan on my 6 year old freezer failed. I couldn't get anyone to give me service on it so I called to ask what the resistance should be on the 2 different heaters. That was when I was told they do not offer diagnostic help via the phone. I explained I wanted the specification not help diagnosing but I was told no help over the phone and then disconnected. I finally tested and realized which one was not working. Got on the Thermador parts site and ordered the parts which they had in stock (I was pleasantly surprised). I ordered the parts and they offered two day shipping so I paid the $17.00 for the two day shipping.
After receiving the tracking information, I checked the shipment status on Wednesday. It shipped on Monday and was scheduled to arrive the following Monday but it was now going to arrive early on Friday... I should have received the parts on Wednesday. I called customer service and explained my disappointment and asked for reimbursement of the $17.00 charge for two day shipping. First I was told they could not reimburse me and I asked why they couldn't since I didn't receive it? Then I was told I had to file a claim with the shipping company.
When asked how they would reimburse me for something I paid to Thermador, I was transferred to another department that deals with builders(?). She explained she could not do anything but submitted it to management for review and follow-up. I received a call Friday stating they could not reimburse me for shipping charges with no explanation other than when they shipped it on Monday it was after the cut off time for the two day shipping (Is this my fault?). I paid for this with a credit card so I submitted a dispute with them and within 15 minutes of filing the dispute I received a credit of $17.00. I don't think I will utilize Thermador directly for anything else should the need arise. It leaves me to wonder what would have happened if I didn't receive all of the parts? Would I have been refunded for the parts not actually shipped?

Upon purchasing a complete set of high end Thermador appliances from what seemed at the time to be an upscale boutique I endured a never ending battle with my dealer. After a 16 month wait where our local had half of the money the pieces starting to show up after numerous calls. Dishwasher arrived with no box,Fridge showed up not working but was repaired after a stop payment on cheque. Freezer door failed in July and tech assured me he would order part. Here we are November no part and calls a s emails are ignored. If you're going to buy a high end appliance from my dealer in Dartmouth best keep the old one in the garage for backup.

Have a Thermador refrigerator less than two years old. It freezes at the top and is dripping water over all my food. Tech came out after two weeks of reporting issue and said it needs a part plus would need to turn off the fridge for 48 hours prior to their arrival so it would completely defrost. Part supposedly ordered, six weeks later part moved out another 6 weeks. How are parts not available for a new product? I purchased an extended service plan and asked to speak to a manager. "Sorry, no manager available," not sure when they would be in and they cannot return my call. Plus they would only say the same which is, "Sorry for your inconvenience." Stay away from this company.

Customer service beyond miserable. I'll stay away from Thermador in the future. I've been trying to get my fridge/freezer fixed (broken fan) for more than 4 months! 45 min wait times on phone. Only 1 or 2 techs in a major city and current tech only works one day a week. Techs don't call before they come like they're supposed to. First tech that came by said I just needed a fan, the second guy said he needed to order 34 parts. Customer service supervisors don't see anything amiss.

We bought an entire kitchen of Thermador appliances during our renovation 2 years ago. The fridge arrived not working and we have had to have it repaired numerous times. Thermador refuses to replace this very expensive appliance and states they have to make repairs to fix it instead. We are on our third repair of this refrigerator and have waited over a month for parts. They are the same parts they replaced initially so we are back to square one with a non-working fridge. We currently were told there is no estimate for parts arrival. DO NOT buy a Thermador fridge, they do not back their appliances!

After waiting on hold for twenty minutes, I finally got through to a customer service rep. She knew I needed an installer, because my built-in refrigerator was tilting. Instead, she sent me a list of regular appliance repair companies who don't do the type of work I need. This was after assuring me she was giving me the right information. I live in Los Angeles and one of the companies was in Oregon. I still called the companies and of course was told that they don't do that type of work. Bought the whole Thermador suite of appliances during a kitchen remodel, of which this refrigerator/freezer was one. Before a year after installation, freezer temps turned wonky and ice maker stopped working. Long wait for the part. Eventually they just replaced the fridge with another identical one. It was delivered in November 2022. In early July 2023, same thing started happening. Things in freezer started to thaw and ice maker stopped working (during hottest summer months, of course)...Repairman came out, and of course, they don't have the part, so it has to be ordered. Meantime, freezer temp is warming substantially.
I also had to have a service call on the gas cooktop less than a year after install. Basically, Thermador appliances are not reliable and for the high end pricing, just not worth it. I had the same experience many years ago when I helped to set up a tasting kitchen--we had tons of problems with the Thermador cooktops. I figured things must have improved since then. Wrong!!

Original Review: With the refrigerator not keeping a cold temperature (although set at 35 degrees and with an thermometer getting 60 degrees) we thought like other much less expensive refrigerators that the coils may need to be cleaned of dust; a common homeowner maintenance item. There are no instructions in manuals, or online, and in a chat with Thermador they were no help as well.

Thermador is already on its way to costing more money than the Wolf or SubZero I could have bought not to mention the inconvenience of having to turn off the appliance and save the food. The refrigerator is barely 4 years old. I have never spent as much on a refrigerator and never had this type of repair experience so early in its life. Even the repairman said Thermador high repair history would easily warrant purchasing another brand such as Wolf or SubZero. I would highly recommend talking to repair people instead of the appliance salesperson when making large appliance purchases. If they do not stand behind their products then consumers should think twice about purchasing them.

This was our third kitchen remodel and first time using Thermador. We used GE appliances and KitchenAid during our previous remodels. Our experience with our Thermador dishwasher, oven and refrigerator have been absolutely terrible. Each appliance has had an issue (< 1 year since they've been installed), the latest being the refrigerator. The adhesive on the deli meat shelf failed within 2 months. The icemaker has worked sporadically despite a service tech "repairing" it twice. Most frustrating is getting a technician to repair the product that is under warranty. The call service center is non-responsive and the technicians often cancel/reschedule appointments. Certainly not worth the $11,000. We feel taken advantage of.

(7 calls X 4 hour tech window plus 30 min. to call in each service request....) Replaced fan, replaced inverter, etc. etc. One time the tech didn't have parts so we left work for 4 hours to have him show up for no reason. Then today they called 2 hours into the 4 hour time window to let us know they didn't have parts.... AGAIN! So disrespectful!!! When is it ever going to end???? I purchased an entire suite of Thermador products for a new home five years ago. We are happy with the appliances in general but have had a couple small quirks that I think any reputable company would have no problem resolving. I am more than willing to have service performed, to purchase replacement parts, and to deal with normal wear and tear. My problem is that the support experience of this company is by far the worst I have ever experienced. I have been on hold times for more than an hour, despite trying to connect at all hours of the day to try to find a "less busy" period.
After connecting, I have had at least four times where the representative either claimed they could not hear me and disconnect, would tell me I was at the wrong prompt and transfer me to a disconnection, or who would tell me to "Google" to find the part number I needed or to find authorized service. I am not angry after one incident; I understand there are a lot of challenges on many levels around staff and supply chain. This has been going on for a YEAR. The phone system does not tell you how much time to wait, the prompt options are terrible and unhelpful, and the people that do answer have not been trained or supervised. My advice would be to find a company that knows better how to support their own products.

This is the most expensive and worst-designed refrigerator we have ever owned. We have only had it for 6 months and we are already looking to replace it.
-The doors do not close easily and beep to let you know they are still open, but only after a while when you have left the kitchen. I have kids who try to close the fridge properly but never get it right so I am constantly having to stop what I am doing to close it for them. And we are in constant fear of leaving the house and accidentally leaving it open.
-The drawers do not operate smoothly, and we have to struggle to open and close them.
-The glass shelves feel unstable and have come out of their sockets a few times, making them lopsided. That sucks when you have a fridge full of food.
-The bottom freezer is tiny and awkward.
-The doors open wider than they should, so they hit the wall on one side and the drawer on the other side. It is as if the designer did not know this would be installed in an actual existing kitchen.
I DO NOT RECCOMMEND!!!

Zero help, no empathy or support given the situation. Customer service just said we are out of luck given the repairs were completed. I had a horrible experience today with Thermador Factory Service. As with all servicers now, I had a 2 hour window for service this morning, not a set time. My husband and I work full time in healthcare and could not be home for 2 hours on a weekday. My mother lives 5 minutes away and had made herself available all morning to meet the technician. The technician NEVER called when he was on his way and then apparently waited at my house - WITHOUT CALLING for 15 minutes and then had the customer service line call me to tell me he was leaving. I told them my mother was immediately available and would be there in 5 minutes - they said great, send her over.
The customer service rep called me back 2 minutes later to say the tech already left and was refusing to return. I asked to speak to a manager - who was very kind - and spoke to the tech's supervisor. I was advised the tech WOULD return as he had not provided any advance warning of his arrival this morning. 4 hours go by and no one shows up at the house. I called back customer service and was told by a new rep that the tech was never going to come back, he said because I wasn't there he would not return. She said she would try to reach his supervisor again and I was put on hold for 40 MINUTES before I eventually hung up and called back AGAIN. This time the customer service rep said I would just have to reschedule because they gave me a 2 hour window and that's all they do.
As I stated at the beginning I already waited 3 WEEKS for this appointment with a broken refrigerator so this just was not a reasonable option. I advised that literally all other companies provide you with a phone call when they are on their way as the windows are large and impossible for those that work full time. She had no response to this. This is truly horrible customer service in every way - from the different information I received from different customer service reps to the tech's lack of care or following a basic protocol. Certainly seems like the tech just didn't want to have to do the work. I would NEVER pick a Thermador appliance in the future and I certainly won't be using the factory service for any future repairs. STAY AWAY.

Buyer beware - if you need support, you won’t get it easily from Thermador based on my experience. They charged me about $750 for a replacement part for a fridge. The part arrived in approx. Sept. 2021. For two months they have been unable to coordinate two techs (the number needed) to come install the part for my fridge. On the first visit, despite my reminding them in advance that we needed two techs, only one came and couldn’t do the job. He rescheduled for a month later. On the day, no one came (not a typo).
Instead, Theramdor claims I cancelled the appointment… Why would I do that? Now it’s the third visit —11/29/2021. Despite advising them again that we needed two techs, they coordinated only one. I called today (11/28) to confirm they would get two out here, and there was literally nothing they could do to confirm one way or another. I’ve asked to speak with supervisors on multiple occasions. I keep being told a supervisor would “call me back.” No one has ever called me back. For a company selling high end (ie, very expensive) appliances, you would think they could treat their customers with a smidgen of respect. Definitely the last time we buy a Thermador product. It’s just not worth the headache in my opinion, particular with an appliance that is only about 5 years old.

Our 7 year old built in fridge stopped keeping its temperature. A Thermador vetted tech found 2 gas leaks that were not repairable but explained that Thermador should provide us with a credit towards a new one. Customer service was nonexistent, they refused to provide a contact person and various agents kept asking for the same documents for over a month and a half (which were provided on day 1 with a confirmation of receipt) and not addressing our file. When we got tired of sending the same documents repetitively and getting the run around, we got angry and pushed for an answer. They offered us an insulting discount on the new model of our fridge. I expect some repairs to appliances but don't expect a 15k with tax fridge to not be repairable after 7 years and to have such a poor customer service experience from a luxury appliance company. Horrible experience and I won't be buying any other thermador products.

The ice-maker stopped working after 3-4 years. At first, I called a authorized repair company, which charged about $400, but after making ice one time, it stopped working. Then I called the company's service dept - after 6 visits over 2 years, $100s in visit charges, and $100s in parts/labor costs, still no ice. In the last visit, the technician gave me an estimate of over $1,000. Seems there is a 1-year warranty on repairs, so they won't charge for the parts replaced earlier but due to a system change, he doesn't have any records available. Further, the estimate is valid for 30 days, but the appointments are not available for 5-6 weeks out. I don't fault the individual technicians, but come on.. really??!! We purchased a complete Thermador package in 2015 that included the side by side fridge and freezer unit approximately $8000.00. The first 18 months, no problems. Then water/ice started to run down the inside of the freezer and interfering with the unit fan. Which then resulted in the temperature rising above freezing.
The certified Thermador repair folks have been out at least 6 times and have replaced almost all of the components of the freezer unit usually at a cost of $200 per visit. When working on the unit, they were in voice contact with the Thermador technicians doing what they were told. Each repair lasted 3-4 months and then water and ice began to run down the insides of the unit, same old problem. Thank heavens the local, certified tech is nice to work with and he is totally frustrated with the Thermador "experts". I would think Thermador would replace such a defective unit at cost or no cost. But not at this date. Working with the local tech we are going to send an itemized cost of repair to Thermador that has occurred over the past years and see what happens. Will keep you posted.

TO say I am disappointed in the Thermador Freezer and Fridge would be a understatement. This is a unit that is supposed to be on the same quality level as Sub-Zero and Wolf.... IT IS NOT!! The freezer is 50% icemaker. Meaning that unlike any other, the freezer space is 50% consumed by the Icemaker unit. The ice maker unit is the poorest, worse functioning that I have ever experienced! It clogs most every time used. It produces ice at such a slow rate. Most days by 2 pm it is out of ice.
The quality of this very expensive built in is below what you would expect from even a Kenmore, (by this I mean I have never experienced problems with any other past owned freezers) like the failures and design flaws of this overpriced poor performing unit. I have had the service department out 4 times in 11 months. Even the logo fell off the door within 6 months of installation! Stick with wolf or sub-zero. If budget minded... After seven years of good service the Power Module failed. The symptom was a warm freezer, and the cause was no power to the condenser fan. The Power Module was technically out of warranty by one year, but I believe that after purchasing such a high end product, and one that I thought to be the best available, it should not have developed this failure. I was happy to cover any cost of installation, if Thermador would provide the replacement part.
I believe the "Use & Care Guide" is inadequate with its recommendation on page 19 to "Check the ventilation openings on the base panel." and "Remove dirt with a vacuum cleaner." In my case there was a significant amount of dust that had collected on the Condenser Coil itself, and the base panel(s) needed to be removed to properly clean the coil. I believe that following only the recommended cleaning instructions will eventually result in excessive temperatures in the area of the Control Module and Condenser Fan, and a subsequent failure of one of these items will occur, not to mention putting excessive load on the rest of the cooling systems. I suspect that many of these refrigerators do suffer such a failure, and only during service does the Condenser Coil get cleaned properly.

This proved useless as not even a Thermador certified technician will come to work on my unit.
After several phone calls to the Thermador customer service number and reminding them that they guarantee after-warranty service anywhere in Canada, they asked me to provide photos proving that I, in fact, owned a Thermador fridge. This ludicrous request being met (who would waste time and energy calling a Thermador 1-800 number if they owned another brand), they now say that I actually need to call Whirlpool because it is Whirlpool that makes this Thermador fridge. It happened intermittently for several months so I finally called Thermador and connected us with their service representatives in our area, St Louis Appliance Repair. Visit one was exploratory and a new board needed and ordered.
A week-ish later part comes in and we schedule a visit in a few days. The tech comes out for visit two but the board did not work properly so the old one was put back in and another one ordered. The freezer continued to work with an occasional high temp warning. Visit three is a mirror image of visit 2. Yes a second board that does not work at all apparently. The old one is put back in (again) and the freezer works as good as before.
On visit 4 (Tuesday before Memorial Day) the new board is installed and supposedly works because the tech leaves it in but says the molex connector has a crimped connection. He takes pictures and sends to Mike ** at Thermador which is apparently Bosch or owned by Bosch. The next morning the high temp alarm is ringing away and the freezer is 60 degrees and food melted so we chuck it all out. It is now Friday - 4 days later - and Mike ** has apparently still not gotten back to St. Louis Appliance Repair.
I have called both S.T.A.R. and Thermador every day since Wednesday only to get another person saying "I"m sorry..." or "We're sorry..." but we are awaiting for a decision from the factory, we are awaiting a decision from management on replacement, we are awaiting on a decision from Mike **, we are awaiting a decision for the tech, we don't have your proof of purchase, "No we don't need your proof of purchase as St. Louis Appliance Repair will send it," (said Nakia) but they did NOT so I sent it, "We don't have the notes from St Louis Appliance Repair says Thermador"... What a never-ending run-around of poor customer service and process malfunction. So if you ask me if you should go with Thermador for your new kitchen? I WOULD SAY NO!!! And Bosch? If you own Thermador then how about Bosch for your new kitchen? PLEASE DON'T! We spent a fortune on all Thermador appliances. I would NEVER do it again.
So here we are about 5 weeks after St Louis Appliance Repair's first visit with the freezer working worse than before I made that fateful call for help. Will it ever get fixed? Not sure. Our family is coming in for Memorial Day Weekend for Mom's 90th Birthday and to see the new kitchen. Thermador your broken freezer will be propped open and shut off so it doesn't smell like mildew. Thanks.

Love our 36 inch wide counter depth refrigerator freezer. Very well built and heavy, compressor is quiet when running and exterior finish is excellent. Well lit inside and thoughtful side door storage. But due to depth, interior size is compromised.

I love this Thermador refrigerator; we have previously owned GE, which I did like as much. I like the double door top section versus side by side and the GE did not hold up as well. However, the freezer could be larger. Nevertheless, the unit is easy to clean and easy to store items.

My husband and I had been planning on renovating our kitchen for three years before beginning construction. We finally made the big move and gutted from floor to ceiling redoing lighting, flooring, sheetrock, every part of the kitchen. We chose Thermador appliances after visiting many appliance stores and talking to friends that have Thermador. Also, when you are purchasing all new appliances the appliance package is hard to pass up. We debated on getting Sub Zero/Wolf because it was only $3,000 more but in the end decided on Thermador 2018 Freedom Refrigerator and Freezer much to our dismay.
We got our refrigerator first because both were on back order. Within the first 24 hours our refrigerator lights were not working properly and the unit switched off and on. We had to contact a repair person within the first day of having it. They replaced the main board at this time. We then finally received our freezer and again issues. Both appliances (2018 Freedom Refrigerator and Freezer) completely quit working within the first week. We are beyond frustrated and disappointed. The customer service at Thermador is terrible!!! I am wondering if anyone is having these issues and for anyone considering new appliances don't buy Thermador!!

I purchased the entire kitchen package from Thermador; fridge, freezer, double over, range top, microwave and upgraded dishwasher due to package incentives. Within five months the $5K+ refrigerator went out and needs the compressor, evaporator and filter dryer replaced. While the store I purchased from has been great in trying to remedy, I've gone a few weeks without it being repaired, Thermador originally left items off the repair order. While the refrigerator looks impressive, I would seriously look at Sub-zero or another brand, maybe a little more but you get what you pay for.

I purchased a $6250 (current retail price) 30 inch freezer column in 2009 when we built our home. 18 months after installation, the ice maker ceased working. No warranty. The freezer failed to cool 6 weeks ago. The part necessary to rectify the problem was also not covered -- just like the ice maker. We opted not to replace the ice maker, which would have resulted in a $700 charge and we paid approximately $350 to repair the current issue. It is unacceptable, and really borders on criminal, to incur these types of failures on a unit this new at a high end price point. I have an old GE fridge/freezer in the garage that was only several hundred dollars that is still working after 25 years. Shame on Thermador. I have several other Thermador appliances that are suboptimal. The Bosch washer died last Christmas after six service calls. Don't purchase Thermador or Bosch. You will be sorry!

This is a Thermador, built-in, French-door fridge/freezer (Model #T36IT800NP), only 2 yrs. old that cost approx. $8500, uninstalled, pre panels. The design is very poor to begin with. The shelves span all the way across the interior. Having split shelves that allow different height items (like most French door refrigerators) would allow far more versatility in storage. As it is, all tall items must go in the door which means condiments clutter up the only three shelves. Within the first year, the seal on the left door started to fail. Next was the ice maker (made by Samsung!). The water filter needs to be changed every 6 mos. The first change was fine, the second change was not recognized by the computer and the change filter display was constantly illuminated.
I had a service tech out who suggested I try another filter, perhaps my replacement was defective. I could ignore the display, but it quit making ice. Then it started making ice again sporadically. At this point, the tech suggested I order a new ice making unit and filter valve. Before I could even place the order, the machine went hyper and made so much ice it overflowed (supposed to have a sensor to prevent that) blocking the back of the freezer drawer so that it could not close. After removing the ice blockage, the flimsy top freezer shelf (which holds the ice bin) would not close and small piece of plastic that kept it in place fell off. Upshot, had to turn off the erratic ice maker, permanently remove the top shelf and bin, and we now have no ice mid-summer.
I did my research and had ordered a KitchenAid, problem with stocking and time crunch so ended up with this very expensive and disappointing model on the recommendation of the sales person. Massive mistake! Top of the line machines should NOT be made with cheap parts. It also appears that the warranty will not cover any of the parts or labor to replace. I've built many kitchens, but this is the first appliance that I've ever regretted purchasing. Caveat emptor!

Bought a high end, very expensive, 30" refrigerator from thermador. Less than a year after installation I noticed a crack in the unit itself (not a drawer or accessory). I called Thermador, and the best they would do for me is send out a tech to patch the crack with epoxy. Now, a year later, the crack is wide open again and getting bigger. Terrible, flimsy product. Not worth the $$$ and Thermador does not stand behind their products or honor their warranty. Buyer beware.

When choosing a built-in refrigerator, we considered the Sub-Zero and Thermador. We went with the Thermador because the design was similar to Sub-Zero and it was less expensive. I find the Thermador terribly noisy. In the kitchen, I feel like I am in a giant fish tank and turn on music as often as possible to drown out the sound. It's been a huge quality of life downgrade. As soon as we can afford to replace it, we will!

The size was sufficient. Not to big. Not too small. Just right. Performance was stellar. It was really incredible. I really appreciated certain aspects that I never knew existed. Nothing but positive things to say about it. The appearance was good. Nothing to write home about, was satisfied overall I suppose. The value exceeded my expectations after using it. In fact, I don't think you can find a better value anywhere else.

The device is a decent size and fit the area we had for it. It didn't take much to get it in the right position for it to fit snugly. Very good performance of the device. We have had no issues with how it runs and we use it constantly. Only once have we had to unplug but that was during a power outage. Very nice looking machine with some nice trim details. This looks like a quality appliance and would help the looks of most any kitchen. I have enjoyed this refrigerator immensely and really like the brand and functions. If you're in the market you won't go wrong with this one.

It was a good size for me because I live alone, but if you have family members I recommend a bigger one. However I found it useful and very spacious for my personal needs. It worked fine like any other freezer. The ice machine worked just fine as well and I never had any issues with it. Overall it was perfect for me. I do not care much for the way a freezer looks. The freezer though went perfectly with my kitchen and fit just right with the counter tops. I believe I paid a fair price for it. I also thought that for how long it lasted that it was worth the price and the time it took to install it.

The size was ok, enough for my family. We had used it for three and a half years but we have to buy another one as we changed our apartment. The product's performance was very good. We were happy to use it. It did not use much electricity which is extremely important for my family. The product appearance was nice. It looked very expensive and stylish. My friends always told me that they also like how it looks. I liked this refrigerator because of its value. We were happy to use it.

Many functions for the fridge and love the stainless steel. Has nice drawers that are interchangeable and a new modern design. Have purchased and would recommend to anyone looking for a new fridge. The refrigerator has a nice variety of settings to adjust the temperature. It also runs excellent and make lettuce and meats always stay crisp. The refrigerator has beautiful stainless steel door with a movable compartments so you can put a cake in there. The amount of room really helps because I can pack a fridge. Made it easier to have a lot of more storage and flexible cooling settings.
Ever since my old refrigerator, I've been looking to replace it since the late 90s. My old one was horribly outdated and didn't seem to hold my valuable food anymore. Purchasing this new one has changed my life for me and my family. This product was so high quality my aunt went and purchased one from one of the retailers. Amazing drawer spaces and high end LED lighting along with French doors. Perfect for my huge home gatherings and keeps beer cold.
