Bought a Thermador 30 inch built in refrigerator. Within the warranty period it started to make a ticking sound (found out it was the fan hitting ice that built up around the cooling coils) and the refrigerator would not maintain its temperature because of no air flow. 1st repairman came and thawed out the ice around the cooling coils, and 3 months later it happened again, they replaced the heater/defrost coil and circuit, then 3 months later the ice came back and seized the fan again. We are now 1 month later we are still waiting for Thermador to fix or replace this lemon. We call service daily who state "someone will call you before the end of the day" and no one calls.

Thermador has a serious design failure based on our experience and those of the other reviews and their service is very poor or very busy. Both of which are very bad signs. So strongly recommend staying away from this brand until they fix their bad design. Thermador is no longer a high end quality brand. It is a waste of money and time.

I am writing this to warn anyone considering purchasing a Thermador appliance or any brand under their parent company (BSH Home Appliances). If you expect premium service for a premium price, look elsewhere. The Issue My built-in refrigerator recently started beeping incessantly and failed to maintain the proper temperature in the fresh food section. After a quick search online, I discovered that this is a notorious and widespread issue with Thermador refrigerators. I called their service department and explicitly explained the symptoms, noting that it was likely a faulty control board—a common failure point reported by hundreds of other owners.

The "Service" Experience. Despite my detailed explanation, they sent a technician whose primary goal seemed to be collecting fees rather than fixing the appliance. The Cost: I was charged a $175 dispatch fee, plus a labor rate of $20 for every 6 minutes. The Inspection: The technician didn't even bother to open the cover to perform a physical inspection. He simply confirmed what I told them on the phone: the control board was dead. The Result: After charging me $225 for a 15-minute visit, he informed me that the refrigerator is "too old" and they no longer manufacture or stock the replacement parts.

The Reality Check. This is a 7-year-old built-in refrigerator (based on the manufacture date) that cost $8,000. For a luxury brand to stop supporting a high-end appliance in less than a decade is unacceptable. It is clear that Thermador has no intention of providing long-term service. They are fully aware of these design flaws, yet instead of improving quality or supporting their customers, they force the consumer to foot the bill for their engineering failures.

Final Verdict. Thermador operates with an arrogant "high-above" attitude, showing complete disregard for the loyal customers who invest heavily in their products. They treat their buyers like "chives" to be harvested—taking your money upfront and abandoning you when their faulty components inevitably fail. Do not be fooled by the high-end marketing. If you are planning to buy Thermador, please reconsider. Don't waste your hard-earned money on a brand that offers zero accountability and treats its products as disposable.

From early on, the refrigerator failed to operate properly, despite being less than one year old and still under warranty. My daughter contacted Thermador immediately. She was repeatedly assured that service would be provided “tomorrow” or “right away,” especially given that the household includes small children, one of whom is nursing. Despite these assurances, service appointments were postponed multiple times without notice, and Thermador representatives provided contradictory and misleading explanations, including claims that parts were unavailable, followed by claims that parts had arrived, followed by claims that repairs were completed—when in fact the refrigerator continued to malfunction.

This pattern has continued for over four months, during which Thermador has:

Failed to provide timely or effective repairs.

    Provided inconsistent and inaccurate information.

Failed to resolve the issue through replacement despite repeated acknowledgments of ongoing malfunction.

As of this writing, the refrigerator still does not function properly, and Thermador has not provided a permanent solution. Additionally, Thermador incorrectly listed the interior designer as the owner of the appliance, despite the fact that my daughter paid for it in full. This error has created unnecessary complications and raises concerns about improper documentation and ownership records. A refrigerator at this price point is marketed as a premium, reliable product. Thermador’s failure to repair or replace a defective appliance within a reasonable timeframe constitutes a failure to honor warranty obligations and basic consumer protections.

Resolution Requested: Immediate full replacement of the defective refrigerator or Full refund of the purchase price, including associated installation costs. Thermador has had more than sufficient time to correct this issue. Continued delays and excuses are unacceptable and constitute unreasonable hardship to the consumer. This complaint is submitted in good faith with the expectation of prompt resolution. If Thermador fails to act, this matter may be escalated to additional consumer protection agencies and legal counsel.

Bought a new home with Thermador appliances. Alert in refrigerator told me to replace water filter. no problem, done it a hundred times on Samsung. Watched video online and consulted manual. Twist quarter turn, pull out, replace cap and reinsert, twist to lock.... all good. Well, when I unlocked and began to pull out water absolutely flooded my kitchen. I could not get the old or the new back in, the water was gushing out so bad. Called Thermador, they said my two year warranty had just expired so it was a me problem. $10k in kitchen flooring and wall damage and if you look at YouTube reviews it has been said by others over and over and over. So they know it is a systemic problem. They do not care, it is a you problem and they will do anything to avoid any liability even though they know they have a faulty product. They could at least advise you to turn off the water. But they don't. Good luck, I would buy anything but this junk.

T36FT810NS (bought a month ago). Came with a microwave that has zero issues. But the fridge...

    1. The control would not connect to the internet despite the best efforts of a tech savvy husband.
    2. The ice maker never worked and had to be replaced.
    3. The fridge, sometimes when closed, will beep that it's open and can't be stopped until the power is reset.
    4. The light to the freezer stopped working a month in.
    5. New parts that Thermador sent to fix came in beat up boxes, and twice the parts have had to be sent back, including a new door that had a dent from shipping.

    6. On the Thermador website and when you type in the model it no longer comes up which tells us they know they have an issue. Can't get a real person to deal with.

It's a BEAUTIFUL unit, however it wasn't cheap, and concerned we're going to be dealing with repairs past the warranty. Only a month or two in and repair people have been out five times.

We purchased a Thermador built-in refrigerator/freezer about eight years ago, expecting a premium product from what’s supposed to be a luxury appliance brand. Unfortunately, this has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing purchases we’ve ever made. At only five years old, the unit began having serious issues — primarily freezing up and failing to maintain proper temperature. Thermador had to order numerous replacement parts and send technicians out multiple times to try to fix it. Each time we hoped it was resolved, only for the same issues to resurface months later.

Fast forward to October of this year, the exact same problem started again. Once more, parts had to be ordered — and we were told it would take over three months for them to arrive. That’s completely unacceptable for an expensive built-in refrigerator that was marketed as high-end and reliable. I reached out to Thermador’s corporate office, only to be told there was nothing they could do to expedite parts or offer any real help. For a company of their size and reputation, the lack of support and accountability is shocking. Between the repeated failures, the long wait times for parts, and the total lack of customer care, I would never recommend Thermador to anyone. A refrigerator that costs this much should last far longer and be properly supported by the manufacturer. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.

By far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I bought a $16,000+ fridge that was delivered not working. Took 3 weeks for their technician to come confirm it is not working and must be replaced. After confirming with Thermador it took another 3 weeks of them continuing to tell me it’s a process and it will take 3-5 weeks to get the approval to replace. Now I am on week 10 and was just told the replacement unit is shipped to just find out another week that they sent the wrong unit. Now calling Thermador customer service and their third party company Dunmore Appliance. No one has no clue what’s going on and now I’m on week 12. No unit and no help at all but hey they accepted my money. Avoid at all costs!

I bought a nauseatingly expensive Thermador column refrigerator. It turns out that some of the parts are not removable to allow cleaning. Then, to remove the drawers that are removable, you have to squeeze your arms into the space underneath them and exert upward pressure (which is almost impossible for the smaller drawer). When you succeed, the drawer may break. When you call customer service, an obnoxious woman named “Kim” will speak to you in a condescending voice while she tells you that they do not service your area and that you the consumer freely bought the appliance and you should have done more research to learn about design defects like this. And no, you cannot speak to a supervisor.

They are unfamiliar with their own models. They made an appt to come look and we waited 3 months for a part that never came because they had no record of us ever calling. Valerie and Emily are both condescending, as well as impatient and rude. That was in April and we are still waiting for someone to fix it and it's almost August. Do not buy from this company. My 14 year old Kitchenaid that is in my garage is better than this new built-in. The vegetables always wilt. I used to just put them in the plastic bags and into the drawers. Now they say to wrap in towels. Separate the different vegetables, etc. This is not what I signed up for. I called customer service and they really couldn't care less. She said that she could send out a repair but if it isn't anything that there will be a charge. I asked if they had tech support to be transferred to? Nope. They have a virtual demo and to make an appointment. Haven't heard back on that either. But, I compared on Consumer repairs and there is the same complaints on sub zero.

What is really crazy, that on Viking which I have heard is the worst, so didn't even consider them. I am looking at their complaints on this site. I saw that every complaint or review someone responded from Viking. Neither Thermador or Sub Zero has done that. So this leads me to believe that at least Vikings customer care is above average which is important. Never again with these high end appliances. Live and learn.

Owned the refrigerator for 1 year and the total use is 3 months. Have been living out of a cooler with ongoing repairs and scripted apologies from Thermador reps. Either waiting for the tech to come and “diagnose” or waiting for parts. Takes weeks to get appointments with the tech then have to wait months for parts. They don’t call when the parts are in so I have to follow up with their automated phone system and wait for 20 minutes at a time. If you want to live out of a cooler and spend your time waiting for repairs after spending $12,500 for a counter depth fridge, this is the company for you.

The best part of this experience is that they offered me 6 months of extended warranty after I’ve spent 1 year dealing with a useless item that has become a disgusting reminder that I have to go grocery shopping every single day and buy ice for my cooler because I don’t have a fridge. Buy any other brand…Even my $40 cooler functions better. The range with oven? The oven comes 15 degrees off so when I called for repair, they told me to calibrate and offset the thermostat myself. They warned me that if I have a tech come out and it’s my fault it doesn’t work, I’ll have to pay for the visit. The piece of crap is brand new and the ambient temp in the house is 65-70 degrees. Spent 50 minutes on the phone yesterday to get them to “try” and extend the manufacturer warranty for an additional 2 years. Said that they would send email…Hahahaha…Not getting my hopes up.

A technician previously replaced a defective part in the refrigerator and mentioned that this is a common problem. However, the issue occurred again last month. When the technician came to check, I was later informed that the defrost part was on backorder. Since then, I have not received any updates or responses regarding the repair. Additionally, my microwave is not heating properly. It takes nearly two minutes just to get warm, which is not functioning as expected. Technician came and told me that the compressor is not working and there are ice at the back of freezer and fan is hitting it. He ordered parts and then came and changed those. Then our ice maker stopped working. so I called and they said they already ordered part! Technician came again and said he changed it and we should have ice soon. Couple of days later and still no ice. So, my wife called today and now instead of coming and fix whatever they did, they told her that we have to call Thermador. I guess they don't want to deal with it/fix it. I'm taking care of my Mom. I've already waited for over 20 min and automated system says 45 min. I can't wait that long on a phone while taking care of my Mom. Meanwhile we haven't had ice for couple of weeks, which I'm hoping that's the only problem now. Our Thermador refrigerator stopped cooling 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. The first appointment available with Thermador repair was the day before Thanksgiving. The repair person was suppose to call the evening before/morning of the repair date to give an expected time of arrival. We received no such call. The repair person showed up close to 3:00 on the appointed day. His tablet indicated he had the required part on his truck. He went outside and returned a few minutes later and said he would have to order the part and reschedule another appointment. The next appointment available was 12/19.

12/19 rolls along and no call was provided for expected arrival (I confirmed they had my correct phone number during the 1st visit). The repair person was a complete no show. Be aware - there is no phone number to call to inquire about a service call. There is only an online form which can be submitted. I filled out the form on 12/19/2024 and on 1/2/2025 I received a response stating my part is back-ordered and they would contact me when it became available. So - my part is back-ordered. My wife sat in the house the entire day for a no-show and this company cannot even call to inform? On 12/19 I contacted a local appliance repair company and they ordered the part that day. On 12/26 the part arrived and they fix my refrigerator the same day.

We purchased a 36 inch Thermador built-in fridge 3 years ago when we renovated our house. We sold the house last year and had loved the fridge so much that we ordered another for our new house. A month after we ordered it we were contacted by the appliance store to say that Thermador had discontinued the one we ordered and had upgraded the new design with a built in water feature. They assured us this was the only change. After waiting 9 months for the new one- it finally arrived and there were several changes - none of them making this a better fridge and in each case, cheapening the overall design.

First of all the big ice tray is gone and replaced by a skinny tray which is separated from the second food tray in the drawer by a 3 inch gap. This means all the 'stray' cubes end of falling through the space into the back of the fridge. Also because the tray is much smaller - all the new ice 'backs up' at the back of the tray so every time you open the door - there is ice caught up in the drawer. The color of the stainless steel is more gray and less shiny silver so it does not match our other new Thermador appliances. There are now 2 drawers which subsequently has reduced the size of the freezer. To make matters worse - the drawers don't line up exactly. Also when you open the middle drawer it comes out somewhat lopsided as it is a thinner drawer and feels cheap. We are very disappointed as the overall quality and the feel of this fridge is nothing like the last one we had. It is very doubtful that we will get another one.

When I bought my house three years ago, it came with a built-in Thermador refrigerator. At first, it was great—no issues—but recently, it started acting up. The fridge was making a constant beeping noise and wasn’t cooling properly. It was about 5 degrees warmer than it should have been, which isn’t ideal, but at least it was still working. I decided to schedule a service appointment with Thermador. It took 10 days to get someone to come out. For a brand that’s considered “luxury,” that wait time felt excessive. On the bright side, the technician who came out was very nice—he mentioned he’d been working a 12-hour shift and still had another job to go to after mine. That dedication stood out to me.

He replaced one part, and at first, it seemed like the problem was fixed—until three hours later, when the fridge completely stopped working. By the next morning, it was warm, and absolutely nothing was functioning. I reached back out to the technician and asked if he could come back (I really didn’t want to wait another two weeks for a new appointment). He came back in two days and told me that the fridge now needed three more parts to work again.

Here’s the thing: this fridge is 17 years old. Replacing three parts at this stage feels like throwing money into a bottomless pit, especially when those parts are on backorder. To make things worse, Thermador has a policy where previous owners can get a “pro-rate” discount on a new appliance—but only if they’re the original owners and can provide a receipt from when the fridge was purchased. First of all, who keeps a receipt for 17 years? Second, I bought the house with this fridge, so I’m not even eligible. I was frustrated but willing to let it go until I realized that Thermador won’t even refund the part I just replaced—the part that ended up killing the fridge entirely.

I called Thermador twice, hoping for some flexibility, but both times I was told, “Sorry, you’re not the original owner, and you don’t have the receipt.” I understand policies are there for a reason, but this experience left me feeling completely unsupported by a brand that markets itself as premium. The technician was great, but the long wait times, outdated policies, and lack of accountability from Thermador have made me question whether this brand is really worth it.

Not to mention that they don't have the policy to reimburse the spoiled food. I have to rely on a 15 years old LG refrigerator, a $ 950.00 frig but still work like a champ. Don't ever buy Thermador. Your stress level will raise up tremendously because of their bad customer service.

We bought the 48" Thermador French door built in refrigerator for about $16K in March 2024 along with 3 other Thermador appliances. All of them are a big disappointment, especially for the cost but the refrigerator has the most issues. The whole refrigerator is huge but the interior capacity is not. The refrigerator shelves are minimally adjustable with the top shelf over 6' off the floor. The door bins are in a similar configuration.

The 4 drawers - 3 freezer & 1 freeze or cool - are also not very well planned. 1 entire drawer is taken up with the ice maker! Who needs 2 different types of ice cubes? The doors are heavy and require manual pushing to ensure that they close. The interior water is slow to dispense, both doors have to be opened to access the produce drawers, & the open shelf designated for 'deli' items is both less deep than the shelves and not very high. Wish I had had more than pictures or a knowledgeable sales person during the buying process.

We purchased a built in premium Thermador refrigerator for $17,000 and had it delivered and installed. From day one it didn't cool and we called TA. They said we needed to contact Thermador. They took no interest or responsibility for helping us. We contacted Thermador and they said that they would send out a service technician. The soonest date was over a week later. Once the tech came he said it needed a new sensor. He told us it would take 5 business days to order and then they would contact us to do the repair.

We didn't hear anything so we followed up and the rep we got told us that the part had never been ordered and the fridge have to be exchanged. We are now 4 weeks since we had it delivered and have contacted both Thermador and TA and both companies are blaming each other. TA is waiting for paperwork from Thermador and Thermador said they sent it over a week ago!! We asked Thermador to have this escalated and were told someone would call us. That was 4 days ago. I can't tell you how disappointing this experience is! We will never purchase another item from TA. No fridge for a family of 5 for 4 weeks!!
