I purchased 5 Thermador appliances in November 2025.

    1. The ice maker in the refrigerator had immediate problems. When opening the drawer, ice would escape to the back of the ice maker container and then drop behind the drawer. Subsequently the drawer could not be shut completely. A service call resulted in a device to keep the ice in place. The fix did not work.

After the threat of a law suit, Thermador did replace the refrigerator.

    2. The refrigerator is very tall and it is difficult to see items on the top 2 shelves.

    3. When changing the filter (which was initially impossible to find) get ready to lie on your floor, locate and remove. This is a real drag for the older population.

We purchased four Thermador appliances from Howard's Appliance Store in 2023 prior to remodeling our kitchen. We were just coming out of the Covid pandemic so we were advised to order our appliances early since it could take 6 months or more to receive them. Our kitchen remodel was completed all four appliances were installed in June, 2024. In March, 2026, the ice-maker in our Thermador refrigerator stopped working and an E2 light was flashing near the temperature gauge. Contact was made with Thermador and we were advised that Thermador had a two-year warranty on the refrigerator from time of purchase. While it was ordered in on February, 2023, it was not delivered until Aug. 2023 and it was not installed until June, 2024. Thermador instructed us to call Wilshire Refrigeration (one of their authorized repair companies in the local area) to request an appointment to repair our ice machine; so we did.

A representative from the company came out and the standard service appointment charge was $125.00. As soon as he walked in, he mentioned that if he has to pull out the appliance from the wall, that would be an additional service charge so my Husband pulled out the refrigerator for him. He then opened the refrigerator doors, glanced at it and said "I'll be required to replace the ice machine and the cost will be approx. $1,500.00." I said I was not willing to pay $1,500.00 for a new ice machine when we paid $5,000.00 for the appliance and it was installed less than two years ago. He then suggested that we may want to invest in a new sub-zero refrigerator. I was not interested. I looked into a sub-zero refrigerator in 2023 and they were $17,000.00.

He left and my husband researched on YouTube how to repair the ice-maker. He purchased the part for $135.00 and fixed the ice-machine himself. Why would Thermador refer this dishonest, crooked appliance repair company to us who quoted us $1,500.00 to repair our ice maker plus $125.00 for the service call. Horrible, dishonest customer service from this company and Wilshire Refrigeration (the company referred to us to make the repair)!!! We are remodeling our secondary home and were planning to purchase Thermador appliances for that property. We've changed our mind.

I was warned about Thermador but I really loved the design and thought, how bad can a top-tier appliance company be? Thermador is that bad. I had my fridge for 4 weeks when the ice maker broke. The warming drawer is perfect if you are looking for cold. The range sometimes turns on and setting the time is challenging when the “settings” button doesn't work. Customer service is non-existing. I called about my ice maker and the lady could not have cared less. I am so mad at myself for spending $30k on a brand that I was warned about. I will never again will I buy anything from Thermador.

We have had a Thermador combo refrig/freezer Model T301R905SP for three years and generally have had good performance. Suddenly, we have extensive load noise at top of both refrigerators/freezer. ChatGPT (a great resource) recommends to turn off for 24 hours and then restart, which entails moving food elsewhere. In the meantime, we decided to do extensive cleaning by taking out shelves and bins. The engineering for drawer and bin removal is abysmally frustrating, and the manual is lousy. Why not design user-friendliness into your product? The removal and reinstall of shelves and bins is horrendous--- unnecessarily.

So we replaced our broken KitchenAid with a beautiful new built in Thermador, French door bottom freezer. Cost was over 12k. Great, you'd think, because the cost of that would normally be expected to last a bit. Well, it doesn't, At least ours did not. First, the ice maker stopped working, just 3 years in, after the warranty expired. Cha-ching!! The light bulb went out 6 months later. More cha than ching. Finally, the water line going to the ice maker broke behind the unit, only to flood out our closet behind the wall, and the damage cost was over 2k. Mold, new flooring, and no one wanted to touch it to pull it out. We reached out to Thermador as the plumber could change out the water line, however not willing to touch the fridge.

Okay. Well, they quoted us $55 for every 6 minutes of labor time. I said No way! No flat fee or hourly, so we can see the back and get the line fixed. One year later, I am still making ice with bottled water in a Frigidaire counter ice maker. Had I known what I know now, I would never have invested in this unit. It has been a nightmare! The customer service is ridiculous and costly to have anyone even look at it. We are pulling it out and replacing it with a free-standing refrigerator. Might have to add a trim kit to cover the top space, but at least it will work, and we can have ice, water, and most appliances vendors to fix it. They look nice, but I would never buy another one again. Bye-bye, Thermador, you disappointed big time.

Bought a Thermador 30 inch built in refrigerator. Within the warranty period it started to make a ticking sound (found out it was the fan hitting ice that built up around the cooling coils) and the refrigerator would not maintain its temperature because of no air flow. 1st repairman came and thawed out the ice around the cooling coils, and 3 months later it happened again, they replaced the heater/defrost coil and circuit, then 3 months later the ice came back and seized the fan again. We are now 1 month later we are still waiting for Thermador to fix or replace this lemon. We call service daily who state "someone will call you before the end of the day" and no one calls.

Thermador has a serious design failure based on our experience and those of the other reviews and their service is very poor or very busy. Both of which are very bad signs. So strongly recommend staying away from this brand until they fix their bad design. Thermador is no longer a high end quality brand. It is a waste of money and time.

I am writing this to warn anyone considering purchasing a Thermador appliance or any brand under their parent company (BSH Home Appliances). If you expect premium service for a premium price, look elsewhere. The Issue My built-in refrigerator recently started beeping incessantly and failed to maintain the proper temperature in the fresh food section. After a quick search online, I discovered that this is a notorious and widespread issue with Thermador refrigerators. I called their service department and explicitly explained the symptoms, noting that it was likely a faulty control board—a common failure point reported by hundreds of other owners.

The "Service" Experience. Despite my detailed explanation, they sent a technician whose primary goal seemed to be collecting fees rather than fixing the appliance. The Cost: I was charged a $175 dispatch fee, plus a labor rate of $20 for every 6 minutes. The Inspection: The technician didn't even bother to open the cover to perform a physical inspection. He simply confirmed what I told them on the phone: the control board was dead. The Result: After charging me $225 for a 15-minute visit, he informed me that the refrigerator is "too old" and they no longer manufacture or stock the replacement parts.

The Reality Check. This is a 7-year-old built-in refrigerator (based on the manufacture date) that cost $8,000. For a luxury brand to stop supporting a high-end appliance in less than a decade is unacceptable. It is clear that Thermador has no intention of providing long-term service. They are fully aware of these design flaws, yet instead of improving quality or supporting their customers, they force the consumer to foot the bill for their engineering failures.

Final Verdict. Thermador operates with an arrogant "high-above" attitude, showing complete disregard for the loyal customers who invest heavily in their products. They treat their buyers like "chives" to be harvested—taking your money upfront and abandoning you when their faulty components inevitably fail. Do not be fooled by the high-end marketing. If you are planning to buy Thermador, please reconsider. Don't waste your hard-earned money on a brand that offers zero accountability and treats its products as disposable.

From early on, the refrigerator failed to operate properly, despite being less than one year old and still under warranty. My daughter contacted Thermador immediately. She was repeatedly assured that service would be provided “tomorrow” or “right away,” especially given that the household includes small children, one of whom is nursing. Despite these assurances, service appointments were postponed multiple times without notice, and Thermador representatives provided contradictory and misleading explanations, including claims that parts were unavailable, followed by claims that parts had arrived, followed by claims that repairs were completed—when in fact the refrigerator continued to malfunction.

This pattern has continued for over four months, during which Thermador has:

Failed to provide timely or effective repairs.

      Provided inconsistent and inaccurate information.

Failed to resolve the issue through replacement despite repeated acknowledgments of ongoing malfunction.

As of this writing, the refrigerator still does not function properly, and Thermador has not provided a permanent solution. Additionally, Thermador incorrectly listed the interior designer as the owner of the appliance, despite the fact that my daughter paid for it in full. This error has created unnecessary complications and raises concerns about improper documentation and ownership records. A refrigerator at this price point is marketed as a premium, reliable product. Thermador’s failure to repair or replace a defective appliance within a reasonable timeframe constitutes a failure to honor warranty obligations and basic consumer protections.

Resolution Requested: Immediate full replacement of the defective refrigerator or Full refund of the purchase price, including associated installation costs. Thermador has had more than sufficient time to correct this issue. Continued delays and excuses are unacceptable and constitute unreasonable hardship to the consumer. This complaint is submitted in good faith with the expectation of prompt resolution. If Thermador fails to act, this matter may be escalated to additional consumer protection agencies and legal counsel.

Bought a new home with Thermador appliances. Alert in refrigerator told me to replace water filter. no problem, done it a hundred times on Samsung. Watched video online and consulted manual. Twist quarter turn, pull out, replace cap and reinsert, twist to lock.... all good. Well, when I unlocked and began to pull out water absolutely flooded my kitchen. I could not get the old or the new back in, the water was gushing out so bad. Called Thermador, they said my two year warranty had just expired so it was a me problem. $10k in kitchen flooring and wall damage and if you look at YouTube reviews it has been said by others over and over and over. So they know it is a systemic problem. They do not care, it is a you problem and they will do anything to avoid any liability even though they know they have a faulty product. They could at least advise you to turn off the water. But they don't. Good luck, I would buy anything but this junk.

Purchased new Thermador under counter wine refrigerator. First one failed in less than one year. They replaced it after having the dealer force the issue with them. This took months. Purchased a Bosch Warranty service package because of problems with First unit. Second unit also fails within a year. Bosch warranty services can’t provide a dates when they will be able to service the product. It’s already 2 months past. Multiple calls and letters have done nothing. Consumer Support agents refuse to let me speak to a supervisor. I purchased an entire Kitchen worth of Thermador products all new. They are terrible at communications and customer service. My prior unit from Marvel is still functioning after 20 years.
