Warning: Terminix does not treat termites! After years and years of paying a renewal invoice for protection, I was very disappointed to be told (another major company found evidence of termites after your inspection) you do not treat "evidence of termites”, they have to be alive. This is what all homeowners want, live termites.

Please let everyone know, Terminix is not in business to treat termites, they are in business to take everyone’s money until they have a problem. Do not sign a contract with Terminix. Call Allgood or Orkin for all your needs. Just a note to let you know we have a company who will be willing to treat the areas where termites have been, probably during your so called inspection!

I waited for 3 hrs just to realize they were never coming! Super unprofessional! They tell me between 5 and 7 they’ll be at my house. So I left work early. I called at 6:30 just be reassured they were coming. I called back after at 7 to say they still weren’t there. The rep was great. She tried to get the tech/supervisor’s #, which he refused to give to her and he said he would call me back. It’s now 8 and I have yet to hear back. I will never use Terminex. I’m glad I know how unprofessional they are prior to spending my money. Never again and I plan on spreading the word!

After 2 years, my annual contract ran out and I was not notified. The service was rendered as though my contract was still in effect. Then I got a bill for a much higher rate than my annual contract rate. When I called to complain, I was told that I had signed a contract that allowed the service to continue. Such a contract without notification that the old one had expired is unethical. It is a sneaky trick to get customers to pay higher than the contract rate. I cancelled this service and would not ever recommend Terminix to anyone.

I have been a long time customer of Terminix's termite baiting system after having termite problems. The inspectors usually come when I am not home. Last year, I paid for the annual fee and didn't think of it when I didn't see anyone come by to inspect. Now a year later, I called and asked when was the last inspection, they said, "a year ago". So, they took my money and have never been back to my house. I have asked to speak with the local manager--no response. I have asked to speak with the regional manager--no response. I have called four times and have asked for a refund. I'm told since it has been a year, they will not refund the money I paid even though they admit they haven't provided the service. Do not do business with them.

I am a long time customer. An area rug, which had been cleaned, came back with bugs. I called Terminix to come out right away, so our whole house didn't get infested. They said they couldn't come for a week. They promised someone would call within 24 hours. They never did. I called twice more and asked to talk to a service manager. They said he would call back. He never did. Do not use them. They don't respond when you need them.

Raccoon/Squirrel Removal & Structural Repair - Terminix was contracted to remove raccoons from the house and make the necessary repairs to prevent further animal entry using appropriate materials. On 03/09/12, wood siding was torn off the house in two adjacent areas approximating possibly 30-40 square feet in total (this is difficult to estimate with precision). It was explained both at the time of the estimate and at the time of the subsequent supposed repairs that there were openings in other parts of the house (both eaves and the upper rear roof corner) needing to possibly be addressed to prevent animal egress.

We were told there was no evidence of raccoons but only signs of squirrels (we have a history of raccoons trapped and are familiar with their noise and fresh fecal matter). Terminix insisted that only squirrels were present and removed my large raccoon-size Havahart trap and took it away with them. We protested that they would trap animals within the house if they did not trap and evacuate them before finalizing repairs. I had concerns and expressed to them that they were not sufficiently taking the scope of the evacuation and repair problem seriously and had perhaps left themselves vulnerable contractually to rid the house of the animals.

Wire mesh was attached by Terminix staff to only the rear portion of the lower garage near the rear door and underside of the garage roof near the rear door. The house was left in this state with no attempt to replace siding. The contract specified repair and appropriate materials, yet animal activity was still heard on Saturday evening, 03/10/12, throughout the house.

We called again and were told that we had to call on a business weekday. Terminix was contacted by telephone every single weekday afterward at the same national number we had previously used (except for Friday, 03/23/12) to explain daily that there are still animals in the house evidenced by the sound overhead in the ceilings throughout the house and by the fresh fecal matter left behind (raccoon feces is large and unmistakeable).

Messages were left explaining the circumstances and asking that someone return the calls and/or revisit to address the issues. Not a single call has been returned. Issues cannot be reported on the national website. I only consistently receive a message that issues cannot be posted there at this time, despite seeming provision for this on the national site.

They simply will not respond in any fashion (three phone numbers are available to them on our website profile), and I, unfortunately, feel that I have no recourse but to issue a formal complaint. All the individuals working on the house have worn the Terminix uniform and have provided us Terminix contracts guaranteeing termite control, and in this instance, animal evacuation and structural repair. They have cashed the two associated checks for the animal evacuation and home repair.

We live with a stroke-disabled senior and several dogs and cats who would be vulnerable to assault by rabid raccoons and/or squirrels. I would like the provisions of the contract honored and the house rid of the raccoons and squirrels still inhabiting it from the time of the intervention two weeks ago. We have not had any problems with the termite control contracted two months ago for a one-year period. I hope there will not be similar problems with the termite control contracted with Terminix, but I am losing faith when a major national company utterly refuses to respond to concerns. Your help is needed.

I was told that we would have someone out this afternoon, and I also received calls from Orkin coming for an appointment (I don't know why because I had given Terminix the "go ahead" and even gave them my credit card info). I proceeded to cancel the appointment from Orkin. The man still showed up, but he was very nice and gave me his card. If Terminix did not fix the ant problem, it's guaranteed he would (He's a very nice guy, considering he moved around his schedule to get here as promptly as possible).

As the day went on, I called Terminix to ask when he would get here and was told between 1 and 5 pm. At about 3:42 pm, I called and asked again because we had a prior engagement for the evening and was told they would not make it before 5. At this point, I think she was frustrated with me even calling because she answered "Do you still want him to come at 5?" I responded I would like him to get before 5 and was then told "I know what you would like, but am asking do you still want him to come at 5?" At that point, I was getting a bit frustrated with their scheduling and now, for sure, with their lack of customer service. I did respond "Yes, if we are still home."

Well, at 5:12 pm, I called them and got a California call center. The lady looked into it and told me that they had tried to contact me but that I hung up on them. It seems she cancelled our appointment, and I was also told that a manager would call me and that the one I had dealt with was probably closed. I have already called Orkin back and am waiting for him to get back to his office to check scheduling me in. Really, my thought on the matter comes to this. This person is going to come to my home every 2-3 months, and I know I would not feel comfortable with Terminix at this point, and the person from Orkin seemed exactly like the kind of professional I need.

If you want to deal with a professional in their field, do not call Terminix of Aurora; and on the same note, if you are at all concerned about who you trust with you or your home's welfare, choose Orkin. I would like to add the name of the young man from Orkin, but without his knowledge and for the sole purpose of this being about how bad my experience was with Terminix, I will not.

My calls to Terminix requesting to speak with someone to resolve this issue were never returned. They have now sent my bills to a collection agency.

Terminix was contacted last fall to find and block all points of entry for rodents to my attic. The first man came out and put wire mesh on 4 different entry points and set 3 traps in the attic and said he would come by in 5 days to check the traps. He didn't come by, and I called two weeks later. The traps were all sprung! He reset them and left. Again, a couple of weeks passed. I called, and this time there are 2 rats and one sprung trap. But this is a new guy and he wonders how they are still getting in. He inspected the perimeter and found a couple of small areas, and he put steel wool into those spots in the garage and an area where media lines go into the attic. Again, I contact them. There were more dead rats, but also more live ones. He suggested I remove all of the stored items on one side of my garage to see if any holes exist. We did so, found and block a few holes (and a cleaned up garage), but still there are rats in the attic.

I called. They came and looked around again, checked traps, and said they will come by 3 days later with an expert to see if he can see something they are missing. That 3 days was up 5 days ago! I called, and was told a manager will contact me within a few minutes. That was 28 hours ago! I then called their corporate office. They said, "We’re so sorry you are having difficulties. I will have a supervisor call you within 24-48 hours!” Really? Is this your best customer service? After several months, I still have rats, probably destroying my attic and creating dangerous situations not to mention it is downright creepy! This company needs to answer to a higher authority.

We have been trying to get Terminix to cover termite damage that happened on our detached garage. We have been a customer of theirs for years, have paid our bills on time, and have never been a problem. But now that those pesky termites are rearing their covert heads, Terminix states it is not their problem because they have "some document" that shows we had termite damage previously. No one ever conveyed that to us, we have never seen the "document" nor can we get them to send us a copy of it. We can't even get them to contact us by phone, and crazily enough, their managers all seem to be on vacation when you need to talk to one of them. This company is a scam and a rip-off. They need the plug pulled on them so they can stop robbing innocent consumers. I have only just begun against Terminix.

Last spring I signed up with Terminix to treat my yard quarterly for insects. After the contract period was over I expected to be contacted about renewing it. No one ever contacted me. Several months later, I received a bill for $124.00 for service I did not expect to get. When I called to complain I was told that it was in the fine print of my contract that I had signed a year before that I had to cancel my service or it would automatically renew. I received no notice that my service was to be renewed. I am now stuck with a bill for a service I did not want. Hiding the detail in the fine print and giving no courtesy notice that the contract automatically renews is a dirty trick. I doubt that I am the only person that did not remember to make a cancellation after a full year had passed. I feel cheated, especially since no one seemed to care at all when I called the local and the corporate offices. Their attitude in both cases was "tough luck". I regret ever having anything to do with this company.

I have been with Terminix for 2 years. During this time, I have had to call constantly to reschedule my appointment, because your employees automatically schedule the appointment during the week, when I am not home. I called back, and asked the customer service rep, to put a note on the file, to only come on Saturdays, when I'm here. After having to go through this about 10 or so times, my husband and I decided to find another company. We were not happy with the service. A lady (whom I know you have her name on the account, and no, I did not save her voice mail) from your retentions dept. called me 3 times, and quoted $70.00. The reason for us speaking multiple times, and for her voice mail message was, because I told her the price was much better, but I am unhappy with the service as well. I shouldn't have to keep calling the toll free number, waiting on hold, and repeating myself. Also the product, we still see the same bugs, the day after our house is sprayed. My husband and I discussed the conversations I had with the lady representative, and that she quote me a lower amount of $70.00. Then, I received a call from Matthew. He tried to talk me out of cancelling. I told him the lady rep offered me the lower price of $70.00 but I also am unhappy with the service.

He advised me he would send out a supervisor the next time, if I would give them a chance. I told him, "fine, we will try it again". I believe the scheduled date was 1/21 between the hours of 8AM and 10 AM, or 9AM to 11AM. I can't totally remember the hours. Snow started to fall, lasting an hour or less. I got up early to take my kids to their dads at 730AM, an hour before he was allowed to have them, so I could be back in time for Terminix. The representative called me to say the roads are bad, and he wasn't coming. Okay, 1st strike, the roads were not bad anywhere. I just came back from driving 10 miles, and they weren't even dusted. A supervisor was supposed to come (per Matthew). I said reschedule. The next Saturday morning, I received a call from Terminix, saying he was on the way, and he was on the schedule. I said, "funny, I'm glad I'm home, because no one called me to schedule it". He gives me the bill (folded and clipped, so I couldn't see the price), and then asked me to sign the electronic thing, which I did. That was a done deal.

Once I received the actual bill from Terminix in the mail, I called your office to complain about. Not only was it not $70.00, but it's now $124.00, which is more than the normal $119.00. I talked with a representative, who said she would have a manager call me. A manager didn't call, but Matthew did. He advised me he never quoted that price. I said I didn't say you did, I said the lady he called 3 times trying to talk me out of it did. When I talked with you, I told you what she quoted me, and I agreed to stay, because you also said a supervisor would come out.

We have had Terminix termite service since we bought our house. For 30 years, we have paid and paid and paid. The first time Terminix found termite damage, they replaced 1 exterior wall in the home. So apparently, termites were in the home and there was damage (5 years ago). Terminix supposedly did a thorough inspection of the home and said all is well. Five years later, we are tearing down dry wall to remodel the home and find more damage and much worse. Had we not started to tear out walls we would have never found the damage. This is new damage, and covered under our contract, yet Terminix will not replace any of the damage. If their services were so ultimate protection, why do we have such extensive damage? Why does Terminix say it's not their responsibility? Why are they not upholding their contract? I'm seeking a lawyer.

My husband and I discovered that part of the wood around our kitchen window had been eaten away from the inside and there were some type of droppings consistently accumulating on the windowsill. We were afraid of a termite infestation and called Terminix to come out and perform a free inspection. From the moment the inspector got into my home, I felt that he was pushy and "shmoozy" but I decided to give it a chance. He inspected my home and found no signs of termite infestation in the basement, the walls or anywhere else he looked. However, when I showed him my window he said it was termite activity and wrote down in his report that he'd seen termite activity.

He then proceeded the hard sell. He was trying to sell me insulation as well, and quoted me a price of about $2,000. He gave me financing options, and it wasn't until I directly asked that he admitted there was an 18% interest charge on the financing. I told him over and over again I had to speak to my husband first, but he wanted to set up an appointment as a placeholder so we could get the work done if we decided to do it. I agreed, and he had me sign this little electronic pad he had to check if I was eligible for the financing and hold the date. Then he went out to his car and printed out the paperwork and left it on my kitchen table. Right after he left I got a message on my phone from his manager saying that they couldn't do the date we had selected (which was 5 days out) and he had put my job on the books for the next morning. He said if he didn't hear from me he would assume that was ok. Seriously? I called the number he gave me and it was a generic number for Terminix, so I couldn't reach him directly. I called the guy who had set up the date for me, and he was very pushy about wanting to get the job in. I became uncomfortable and restated that I wanted to talk to my husband first. He said ok.

Upon reading the paperwork that evening I discovered several things. First, I had apparently signed a contract saying that they would do the work! I was shocked. I know I was at fault for not asking more questions about what I was signing, but he had me sign a little electronic pad with no visible instructions or paragraphs, and he didn't even tell me that I was signing a contract! There was a cancellation form, but you had to deliver it to the head office (which was 60 miles away) within 3 days. I was furious. I had told him I still needed approval from my husband, so why would he think I was okay with signing a contract? Second, he had told me numerous times during his spiel that Terminix would cover any reoccurrence of the termites, but he never even mentioned that I would have to pay a yearly fee of $225 for that protection service.

I called the Terminix number immediately to voice my frustration, only to discover that I was also still on the books for the job the next morning even though I'd told him I couldn't do that! And they said they didn't know if they could cancel it because it was after 9 pm. Needless to say, I spent a somewhat sleepless night, and my husband was forced to drive my cancellation form all the way to their main office the next day.

Today I had a guy from JP, Erlich, come out and he told me within one minute that the damage at my window was from carpenter ants. He explained why he knew that, and quoted me a price of $275 to treat it, which was much lower than the $2,000 plan Terminix was trying to push on me! I was so mad when he left because I realized that the Terminix guy was either not skilled enough to even identify the pest problem I had or was outright misleading, lying to me to try to sell me expensive services. You draw your own conclusions, but based on his shady behavior all around I have a suspicion. So, in the end we have ants, not termites. We will never do any business with Terminix again. We’re relieved that we did not give them a dime.

In 2009, I was getting bitten by what I believed to be spiders or mosquitoes. In 2010, I decided to call Terminix, because they advertised a free consultation. When the consultant came to my home to inspect, he told me it was bedbugs, but not to worry, Terminix will get rid of all of them in one service. All I had to do was prep my home before they arrived, which I did. I was told I could keep all of my furniture.

They would need to spray down everything, even my couch. So I bought into the scam. I purchased bed protectors for 2 beds and box spring. After the initial treatment, I was still getting bitten, so I called Terminix, and they assured me someone will be out to spray again. After having to play phone tag with them for a week, they sent the same person to exterminate. Next day, I woke up with bites on my face, and when I went to use my laptop, I noticed a bed bug crawling on my arm, so I put it in a zip lock bag, and called Terminix.

They did come out, but this was the last free service I was to receive from them. My issue with the whole situation is that, I had never seen or heard about bed bugs, until I moved into this apartment. The consultant should not have told me that it would only take 1 service, and the bed bugs will be gone for good. I am still suffering from bed bugs, and now I am very cautious on who I give my money to. I spent $945.00, and I ended up throwing everything away, and still continue to get bitten by bed bugs.

Started service with a company called Servicepro. Servicepro on the 2nd round, came out and broke my china and crystal. The rep was a young guy and I was extremely understanding as things do happen, however, it is crystal and china, so the rep wrote out exactly what happened, left a copy for me and took copy to his office. Bill the manager (very nice guy), contacted me and told me he would try to resolve as soon as possible. He could not do anything, however, would transfer to the director. Gave the director my contact info, including phone number and email. Never heard from him, then this company got bought out by Terminix. Contacted Terminix to find out Bill was no longer manager, but a gentleman named Dave. Left a few messages for him, he never returned my call.

In the meantime they would send me bills every couple of months saying I owed them money. I would call, tell the person what the situation was and they would say ok, the documentation was there and fine. However, they stopped coming out and at the time I was willing to work with them. Finally my frustration set in and I contacted the HQ, they listened and then promised me that the local manager Dave would call me in 24-48. Heard from him a month and a half later, he had left a message, however, unfortunately I was out of the country. When I got back I called him, he still to this day has never returned my call and I have called a few times for him.

Two weeks ago, I got an email stating my credit report had changed, come to find out, that Terminix, turned me over to a collections agency for $135. In the meantime, they have never called me back. Never tried to settle the problem (although, I do have the documentation from the rep stating what had happened). At the time had given all info to prior manager, concerning cost of China etc, so everything is documented.

I have recently listed a complaint with BBB and I will continue to do what I need to do to get this resolved if they continue to not communicate with me. I will see this through to the end, as they have shown poor customer service, malicious intent and damage to my person.

I was a customer of there's from 2003. They changed names and that’s where it went down hill. I called them because I had rats and asked if they over that. They said yes, they would come out to set traps and walk the perimeter and find the ways they were getting in to fix the problems. The guy showed up with one trap and no there’s bait in the trap. Then he said ok and he was leaving. I was like excuse me? I told him what they told me they would do and he said, "Oh, no, we don’t do that. That’s extra. I said that is not what the guy said on the phone.

So we called and I told the lady on the phone what happened and she said sorry, we don’t do that. Needles to say, I was very upset because I cancelled the other company that I had coming out. Why should I suffer because the guy on the phone does not know what he was talking about? I told them I would not use them anymore. I got home and found a paper in my door saying they sprayed for bugs. I called them and asked why they would send someone out? They said they did not have that in their computer because I cancelled. The best part is I don’t know how they sprayed—my gate was locked.

They would come when no one was home, like who knows if they ever sprayed. I called to cancel my cc payment for the year I paid because I did not trust them anymore and I prepaid for the year. They never called or sent a bill but they just sent me to collections. I explained to the guy what was happening. I have called at least 10 times to ask for a bill on what I owe them for two sprays because that is all I owe them. They tell me $225.

Really? How could that be when the whole year is $270. No one will send a bill. Then I called and two people I spoke to said I don’t owe anything. Then they tell me to call my local office and I do and I get someone in in another state. Very unprofessional. Again, no one will send me a bill not even the collection agency. So until I get a bill and someone will talk to me that can make any sense out of this—why some are saying I owe nothing and some are saying three and some don’t know?

I have never dealt with such a unprofessional place that has no regard for customer service. I do not owe tem for three sprays and I will not allow them to bully me into paying them. They threaten me with collections because I don’t owe them $225. They are a bunch of thieves and I want to take me out of collection and I want all my money back. They lied to me on the coverage and then sent a guy out with one trap with no bait. They should be sued.

I purchased the bait system for my home and part of the selling pitch was that they would change the bait sticks (wood) every month. After several months, they only left me one pink notice that they came out. I live 45 minutes away. I opened one of the traps to find weeds and roots wrapped around the bait stick which obviously was never changed. To inquire why they were not coming out to change the wood sticks like they were supposed to, I called them and instead of answering my concerns they immediately canceled my contract and would not refund my money.

Basically, they scammed me out of $1500. Long story short, I contacted national Terminex and they told me to deal directly with the branch in question, who refused to help me. Interestingly, I ended up meeting a woman who used to work for them (at a different branch) and she told me that there is no way to truly get rid of termites. She said she knew my type of complaint because she said there were lots of people who complained that the Terminix man never came out to their homes and said that he did.

Contracted with Terminix to rid my 7-unit apartment of bedbugs. Spent almost $4000 for their service. Initial treatment time took them about 1.5 hours. This included halls and laundry/storage areas. Treatment involved spraying around a little CO2 then a chemical treatment. Next two treatments took about an hour. Time spent in units was maybe 10 mins each. At end of two week "warranty," I still had bugs. They came out again, told me tenants must not be complying, sprayed a little and said good luck. I still have them two months later.

They are called agreements and can be canceled at anytime, specially if you are not satisfied with the service that this so-called-company provides.

I will recommend you to write a letter of cancellation and confirm with a phone call to the local branch and speak to the Service Manager to confirm cancellation. Be nice and tell them that they can be sued if they send the technician again (happens often even if you talk to the CEO of Terminix) after that, they have no right to go to your property without your permission and/or charge you. I had a Terminex rep came to my home to inspect for bed bugs. He was very "used car salesman like." Mind you, I had inspected the bed extremely well and found nothing. But was being cautious. He came up, searched, didn't say anything for a bit then said, "oh look, here's a casing from a bed bug." Held it in his hand for a brief moment then threw it away and quickly began selling me his $900 extermination plan. I doubted from the start that he found that casing in my home, so I called another reputable company in to inspect. The gentleman said there are no signs whatsoever of any type of bed bug or any other bug and said have a nice day. I believe Terminex is feeding on the fears of the bed bug scare - scamming people into thinking they have bed bugs by planting a "casing" and raking in the cash. Thanks for listening.

This is for some advice from a former Terminix service manager. Having been in the pest control industry for some years, in 2005, I moved to a new state. For the short-term, I had to settle for working at one of the largest pest control operators (Terminix or Orkin). It was because, as everyone in the industry knows, they are always hiring due to a pushy, relentless sales force and massive employee turnover.

Within the industry, Terminix is known as a company that deals in volume, not quality. They hire tons of people (mostly as field technicians). They don't train them very well at all. They are teaching them how to answer just the questions that they will be tested on by the state, where they will be working, so that they will pass the pest control operator exam and get their license. And they send them out to work a route as soon as possible. You can be pretty sure that unless your technician has been in the business for more than 3 years, he doesn't know much of anything about how to get rid of pests. In the industry we call this the "spray and pray" technique. And, because Terminix is not a good company to work for, very rarely do technicians last 3 years.

Now, each Terminix branch has a branch manager. He is in charge of the service managers and the technicians. And he is the one who needs to find clever ways to deny your claim, that the termite damage you have in your home is their fault because they didn't find it or treat it properly. He also spends a great deal of time being harassed by the district manager for not making enough money per hour for the branch. Because of the pressure he's getting from above, the branch manager takes it out on the service managers who are in charge of the route technicians (the guys who come to your house). He'll tell the service managers to have the technicians shorten the amount of time they spend at their stops in order to increase the incoming dollars per hour. The more stops they do in an hour, the more Terminix makes. This, of course, is not a very good sign that you will be the recipient of quality inspection and pest control treatment.

You see, in order for a pest control technician to do a good job, he needs to do a thorough inspection first, not just whip through your house, spraying the baseboards, and getting your signature. He needs to spend time up front to take his flashlight and inspect the hidden areas for pest infestation. He needs to get under the cabinets, look under and behind the refrigerator and stove, and check the compartments of your electronics (microwave, blender, coffee maker) for roaches. He needs to check the drains for fly larva. He needs to get in your basement, in your crawlspace, and in your attic. He needs to circle your house outside slowly to check for rodent entry points etc. You see, pests don't often live out in the open where they can be seen (and if you can see roaches out in the open, then you've already got a huge problem, but that's another story).

The branch manager will also push the service managers very hard to reduce the amount of pesticides that are doled out to the technicians for use in the field, because pesticides cost big money. The branch manager wants to keep his overhead down and so he will have as little of it on hand as possible, and will be very stingy about handing it out. As a result, the technicians are often out on their routes with the bare minimum amount (and often less) of tools with which to fight an insect or rodent infestation. Many times they won't have any of the material required to do a proper job.

When he's done with the service managers, the branch manager will then hammer the sales staff about selling more new accounts and upgrading existing ones. He will call them to account for completing a certain amount of termite inspections per week and then ask them why they didn't sell each and every one of those customers on a termite job, even if they have no termites. The intent to sell you service you don't need is very real and it's how they make most of their money.

Also, as an aside, never buy termite bait station service. Termite bait stations do not work. They “can” work if the termites happen to be near the bait station, and happen to be hungry. But often the termites will cruise right by the bait stations. The word "bait" implies that bait stations draw the termites to them. This is not the case at all, and so the word "bait" is really not accurate. At best it's a hit-and-miss proposition. It's better to have your house surrounded with pesticide pumped into the ground and allowed to seep into your foundation as well.

The bottom line is that you are better off going to a smaller pest control operation. Look for a small company, or even a single person, where the PCOs (pest control operators) have been in the business for many years and know what they're doing. They will usually shoot straight with you. And they will almost certainly spend enough time inspecting and treating your home to do a proper job of it. I cannot stress this enough. Stay away from Terminix!

I asked if it had been recently sprayed for bugs. The answer was no. I requested a spray. I was later told by the resident manager that it had been sprayed twice before I moved in. And I asked that monthly baiting be done, which I've received. But since I was not given a timely notice of the visit from the Terminix guy, I have missed 2 baitings in the past 7 months. I had noticed some bugs in my trash can. Also, I opened the water heater door late last month and found that there were so many cockroaches in there. I took off to the store immediately to buy Raid. I sprayed it until the can was empty.

Last Friday, 9/23/11, the guy from Terminix came to the building and said he was informed that I wanted a full spray. He did the job okay. But to hear my name and the infestation situation being the topic of gossip made a bad situation even worse. I've never had a problem like this. And I don't intend to take any of this with me when I vacate. When I mentioned this to the person who calls herself the manager, I was told that every apartment in this complex is severely infested. I really don't think it's part of the spray guy's job to discuss what is a very embarrassing problem with other gossiping tenants. Just do your job! And stay out of other people's refrigerators!

He said they had no opening for that day and the best he could do was 7:00AM of 8/6.

In the meantime, I could "suck the bees up with my vacuum". He also said I should be careful since, as evening approaches, they begin to "swarm" and this could be very dangerous. I told him I had already been stung numerous times and was frightened for my pets and family. He said there was nothing he could do.

How could a company like Terminix leave consumers with a swarm of angry bees and just walk away? Needless to say, I was able to find someone else within one hour who came and fixed the problem.

I checked my register for the month of March, that check was cashed on March 21 for $200. I have called again today, July 27, spoke to someone and she said they will send our account to collections.

What really galls me is they are too lazy to look for the check. Someone probably posted to someone else's account and will not admit it is their mistake in the first place and I refuse to do their dirty work for them. I have no use for incompetent people at Terminix and I will never use their services ever again! I hope this time my voice is heard and something will be done about this travesty.

Eight years ago when I bought my house I was with a pest control company in Perry, Fl. They were bought by Terminix, and they moved their office to Tallahassee, FL.

You cannot get Tallahassee office on the phone; it is picked up by a phone bank somewhere in the US. Last summer they made three appointments for my yearly termite inspection, and kept none. This summer so far, they have made two, and have kept none.

It will cost me $800 plus to change companies. I feel I am trapped.

Also, I called them last year to help with a carpenter bee problem; a man came, and confirmed I had carpenter bees. He told me how to get rid of them. I am a senior citizen, and do not need to be on a ladder, mixing chemicals and applying caulking. I am not in the pest control business.

This company has lost it customer relations, and its reputation as a once respected company.

I have been covered for over 20 years but noticed that in the last few years, the service was not how it once was.The inspections that once took an hour now only takes 15 minutes in the last four or five years. About three years ago, one of the servicemen got my signature and later brought the form back with lots of what he called previous damage points with XXs on it. Basically, I signed a form that had things added to it after the fact. That has always bothered me. I'm not sure that was legal.

I have no way to prove this but it is the truth and I hope they aren't doing this to other senior people.

I'm currently a Terminix customer and pay for services quarterly to my home and feel that the customer service Terminix provides is awful. I manage the number customer service center in the health care industry and feel that the level of service this company provides can be compared to a trip to the dentist to get a root canal.

I'll review my experience with you. I called on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, to schedule an interior appointment because I was experiencing an ant problem in my kitchen. They scheduled an appointment on Saturday, June 25, 2011, from 10 am to 12 pm and guess what, no one showed up. So, here I spent four hours sitting at home on a Saturday (I gave additional time in case the tech was running late).

I then called your company on Monday, June 27, 2011, but something was wrong with your phone lines. I kept getting hung up on or receiving busy signals. I then attempted to call back on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, and finally reached a representative named Chris, who, by the way, did not provide his name when answering the phone. I had to ask for it. He sounded like he just woke up and he asked me for the phone number associated to my account and I provided it then the phone went silent.

Guess what, he placed me on hold without telling me. I thought he hung up on me, so I gave an additional minute and when he finally came back to the line, he asked me for the same information all over again. I explained to him that the tech did not show up on Saturday and that I wanted to reschedule. He asked me for my contact information and stated that he was going to forward to my local office and that they would call me to schedule the appointment. Well, I waited all day and no one called me.

So I called back at 3 pm on June 28 and asked for a supervisor or manager and the woman took my information and said she would send an email to have someone from the local Terminix branch call me back regarding my issues. To date, I have not heard from anyone.

As you can see, my experience has been less than great and here I sit and my kitchen still has ants. I will now try to contact another company to have them come and treat my house, which is a breach of Terminix's contract with me as I have already paid for this service this quarter.

I will be terminating my contract with Terminix. I've been a customer of Terminix company for a few years now and this is not the first time my appointment was blown off. Finally, I still can't figure out how I have ants in the first place when your company supposedly treated the perimeter of my house.

I allowed my brother and sister-in-law with their 5 kids to live in my house in 12/10. After a period of time, I started having insect bites. In 3/11, when they moved out, I discovered all of their belongings covered in bugs that turned out to be bed bugs. I panicked and ripped up all the carpeting from my house and had the hardwood floors refurnished.

I called Terminix and they sent a tech out to my house during the first part of April. The tech assured me that they handle things like this all the time and usually, one treatment is all you need. They had me bag up everything that could be laundered and wash it at the laundry mat. They asked me to take my pictures off the wall and stated they would treat them, too. My first visit lasted only 2 hours (I have a 1,500 sq. ft. home).

I left my debit card information with the man and told him that I would need to pull the money from my savings account; and he stated, "That's fine. We can call before we charge it." Within two weeks, I was having bed bug bites again and was seeing the actual bugs. I called back and they sent a different representative out. He came in and treated one room.

Within one week, we were having the same issues again. It took them a week to come out and spray. Still at this time (mid-April), my account had never been charged. I bought new furniture and threw away a lot of belongings, thinking that it might help the problem. The guy came back and just kept repeating, "I don't see any evidence of them; but I guess I can treat anyway." He treated a total of 5 rooms in less than 5 minutes. We lived in peace for approximately two weeks and started having bites again.

My husband said we should wait to call because they told us that they applied "birth control"; and maybe, this was just the last of the bugs before they died, and because Terminix told us that it took 7-14 days for bed bug bites to appear on a person. After a week, I called the company and was told that since my account was never paid, they couldn't help me. I told them my account was never charged; and they said I would have to speak to a manager who would call me back.

Within the hour, the manager called me back and told me that if he was the one who hadn't paid his bill, he wouldn't be calling the company to come fix the problem. He was very, very rude; and I was in tears by the end of the phone conversation. He stated that if I paid in full via cash, they would come treat my house again and I agreed. I just want the bed bugs gone.

They came out to the house and this time, the manager came along. They "inspected" my house and still didn't find any evidence of bed bugs. I asked them, "Are the bites not enough evidence?" And they replied, "You must be bringing them from somewhere else. We have treated and treated this house." I insisted that they treat the house again regardless because that was our agreement. They spent maybe 30 minutes treating and left--paid in full and in cash (minus the $200 discount he took off for making me cry). I was just happy they were gone.

In the following week, I noticed that the kids had bed bug bites. I called Terminix and was told I would have to speak to the manager, who would call me back. When I received the phone call, they informed me that the manager had decided to cancel my contract for lack of bed bug evidence; and they would not be returning to treat my house again, although I would be issued a refund. I still have bed bugs. I found two crawling around in my bathroom last night. If I was as hateful as the guys I had to deal with, I would put those bugs in an envelope and send them to them. I hired this company to take care of the bed bugs and instead, I received the run-around and was treated like **.

I had wrote to BBB. After Terminix learned about BBB, they then said they would come back and work with me so I dropped the complaint. Now, Terminix isn't returning any of my phone calls. My horror story began in April 1990. I was hired as a service technician to service a pest control route. I, at first, wondered why there were unhappy employees, extremely low morale and customers were cancelling left and right. I soon found out the reason. The service department and the salesmen never communicated with each other, and that often would cause a conflict with the customer. I was never furnished any PPE (respirator, neoprene gloves, and safety glasses).

On my first day, I got a bad sunburn type rash on my face, due to no PPE. I also had to furnish my own MSDS and label the book at my expense. I was never paid for the day it took me to put it together. There were none of these on service trucks. If we ran out of chemical, I was told to use water. I was working one day about an hour from the office in SLC, and I got pesticide in my eye. I immediately went to an Urgent Care type facility, and handed the nurse my copies of the MSDS and label of the chemical that was in my eye. The doctor washed out my eye, and I was lucky that it didn't do permanent damage.

A few months later, I was issued a company credit card as I was going to be servicing accounts about an hour away. I filled up my truck, and their credit card for the gas was declined. I tried several times to get a hold of my manager and service manager, and they would not answer either of their cell phones! (Big surprise there!). I had to beg the cashier to let me come back the next day and pay, which is what happened. That same week, I also recieved a collection notice from Urgent Care for their services when my eye was washed out. I guess Terminix never paid that bill either! So, a declined company credit card, a collection notice for my my eye injury that went unpaid by Terminix. Could this get any worse? Yes.

I had a job coming up on an office that had drop down ceilings, and I needed to have access to these areas. I asked my manager for a proper OSHA approved ladder for this job coming up. I asked all week long, and he basically ignored my request. I was forced to use an old, wooden, rickety ladder that I found on the job site. Well, I am not a heavy person, but I was up on the ladder when it collapsed, and I was flung into a desk with my leg landing sideways upon impact of hitting the desk. I was off work for at least a week or two, and I never was given disability or workers compensation for that accident. If any employees had overtime, then the managers would force employees to cross out any overtime hours worked and initial it in front of manager. I was forced to work off the clock on many occasions.

A few months later, I had to have abdominal surgery, and the doctor wanted me to be off for at least three weeks to recover. My surgery was on a Thursday, and the manager ordered me to be back the upcoming Monday, and if not, I would lose my job. I went back that Monday. I was in so much pain that I only got one account done and I begged the manager if I could go home. I couldn't even stand up straight. All he said was, "What about your route?" He didn't care about any of the employees at all. His only concern was to bring in that almighty dollar.

When a regional manager, Doug **, came in to SLC from Denver, he told me that I had to use my own money to call customers back during the day from pay phones. I informed him that was my lunch money, and he said that was too bad, and I could take it off my taxes. He knew I couldn't do that! When the EPA sent word through the higher ups at Terminix that a chemical called Orthene was being taken off the market immediately, and to stop using it, the manager told me to continue using it, as we still had another case of it in the store room. I didn't do it, and it made matters even worse. I didn't want to risk losing my state applicator's license.

One evening, I stopped in at the office to turn in invoices from that day's services so that I wouldn't have to do it the next day. What I witnessed still shocks me to this day. I saw a salesman at the office manager's computer deleting salesmen names from legitimate contracts that these other gentlemen worked on and sold. He was deleting their names, and putting his name on those contracts so that he would get the commission instead of the guys that sold them. He was also cancelling active accounts and "reselling" them and adding his name so that he would get the commission for those as well. Did I mention that this guy is a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy reserve, and still is?

Don't you feel safe at night knowing that a dishonest thief like this is guarding our great nation? Not! I hope some military law type person or someone who works at the JAG office on any military base reads this. I think that his behavior was considered conduct unbecoming an officer. I do also know the whereabouts, location and name of this dishonest Naval officer. That just totally blew me away! I hope that someone contacts me about what I witnessed that night. In the end, I was fired, and I turned around and sued them for my unemployment, which I was awarded for wrongful termination. I think they just got rid of me because I was a whistle blower, and always confronted them on their lack of safety regulations.

In conclusion to my horror story, after reading this, do you really want someone from Terminix, Servicemaster, Merry Maids, Trugreen Chemlawn, American Home Shield servicing your home? I hope not. Yes, all these companies are owned by Servicemaster. Your home is your biggest investment, protect it at all costs. Don't let any of these turkeys near it! If you are considering employment with, or service in your home with any of these shady companies, I will let you come to your own conclusion on that matter. Hope that my horror story enlightens you all to what really goes on behind the scenes. If you do need a pest control service, save your money and go with a reputable company. There are companies and exterminators out there that really do care about their work. Too bad that Servicemaster and Terminix aren't one of them.

Terminix: a rip-off price for questionable quality. The Terminix representative gave me a quote for TAP insulation and installation of automatic vents. Verbally, I was given a price of $150 per vent, and with two minuscule-size attic spaces the price rocketed to $1,900 plus taxes. The whole job took 3 hours of low-speed activities by two gentlemen, during which time 5 vents were installed and (according to the application record) 4 bails of T.A.P. insulation were applied to two tiny attic spaces.

Later, I did some on-line research and found that the automatic vents are ranging in price from $19-70 but there was not a single one priced at $150. The exactly same vents with life-time warranty from another supplier were priced at $40. Terminix claims high price resulted from their life-time warranty added to the manufacturer's one year regardless of the customer's will to pay for it!

When I called the Terminix contractor mentioning this matter and the fact that the contract was not itemized, he suggested to drop the price by $200 without itemization, which still left me suspicious. In addition, the above mentioned two gentlemen expressed their surprise by how little of the TAP insulation they have had to use, although they were told to bring much more. I do know that I was ripped off by Terminix. Not to mention the non-itemized contract which I believe not very legal/professionally correct.

To conclude, Terminix over-charged at least $400 only on the vents, not to mention other related items. This outrageous behavior must be stopped. Being an extremely dissatisfied former customer of Terminix, I expressed my numerous concerns and dissatisfaction on multiple occasions. Finally, an agreement was reached with the local office of Terminix according to which all my contracts with the company were canceled. This agreement was confirmed in writing in a letter received from the local office of Terminix, indicating that the company canceled all my accounts and requires no future payments. Regardless of what I mentioned above, I continue receiving letters and phone calls from the payment processing department asking me to pay and to contact Terminix.

My sister’s husband was out of town and Terminix wants to give their 'free' inspection. She is 20 years old and owning her first house. The inspector runs his numbers and facts on her and has her scared her house is going to fall down on top of her if she doesn't get treated and get it under a home repair guarantee. The contract says you have 3 days to cancel, but when I talked to them on the 3rd day they were hiding behind the contract saying she signed it and it's a done deal.

I thought I read on the Terminix brochure 100% satisfaction or your money back. My family is not satisfied with how my sister was charged $1600 she does not have for a chemical treatment. Please be careful letting sales reps into your home or any business bringing 'free inspections'. They are trained professionals and are there to get you under contract no matter the circumstance. Termites can easily be avoided by making sure your house is built with treated lumber, removing old stumps and any non-treated old wood from your yard and by making sure any and all water leaks in your home are quickly repaired. Termite colonies will not survive if they do not have food sources to flourish on.

The pest controller was ill equipped, he just sprayed some chemical around but did not take down webs and nets from garage and outside house. The treatment was also ineffective as wasps again reconstructed nets and spiders and cockroaches were seen in the house even after treatment.

Come Thursday, the Terminix man shows up. I asked if they ever called him, and he told me no. I said we canceled our appointment. He puts his chin to his chest and sighs and asks why. I told him it's because we didn't read one positive review of the company online so we're going with someone else. He slams the screen door he was holding in his hand inches from my face and storms off my porch. Under his breath, but loud enough for me to hear, he says, and I quote "This is ** sad, you ** people should know we're a ** A+ company." As the calls have persisted and I've gotten a sense of the people that are placing them, I've come to realize that Terminix is not really, in the end, a pest-control agency. Rather it is a large, organized consumer-fraud operation, nominally selling pest control, but essentially just pressuring people for money.

I was a service manager at Terminix and so I know how things operate. First and foremost, you need to understand that it's all about how much money the company makes per hour, per day, per week, per month, per year. The Branch Manager's future with the company, as well as his salary, depends upon him doing more for less. The Service Managers who work for the Branch Manager are tasked with making sure that the branch makes a profit, that no customers are allowed to cancel their accounts and that new accounts are set up on the same day that they are sold. Technicians, who work for the Service Managers, are then expected to solve the problems of all their customers in a limited amount of time while not actually costing Terminix money in the way of pesticides (the materials used to kill your pests cost money) or time spent actually doing the job. Time is money. In essence, pest control companies are selling time.

On any given day, a Technician will have his regularly scheduled service calls (usually anywhere from 14-18 per day) as well as any immediate "callback" visits where a regular customer has called to report that they are having a problem. They may also have one or two new customer set-ups to do. These, of course, are the highest priority. In short, the workload on these technicians is ungodly. I have been in the pest control industry for 27 years and I have never seen a company treat their employees or their customers with such disregard. I knew Terminix had a horrible reputation within the industry, but I needed a job quickly and took that one while waiting for something else to open. Their sales people are encouraged to convince you that you have termites- even if you don't.

Their "bait stations" are a joke. In essence, the only way they can stop termites is if the termite finds the bait station and there's no guarantee that they will. They may burrow along 6 inches away from it toward your house. When you get termites, even if you already have Terminix, it is incumbent upon the Branch Manager to put out the fire and somehow document that it is not the fault of Terminix. There is lots of document manipulation at Terminix so read what your technician writes very carefully. I was at a Sales and Management meeting once and the District Manager (who oversees all of the Branches and Branch Managers) put up an excel spreadsheet to demonstrate which branches had the highest and lowest amount of customer refunds, money paid off in termite damages and lawsuits. He then went on to give a lengthy talk directed at the Branch Managers on how not to refund customers or pay out money in termite damages.

All of the pesticides are strictly under lock and key (normal for the industry) and only managers can dole it out to technicians. The problem is, the Branch Manager expects the Service Managers to control costs so, in turn, Service Managers will often send their technicians out in the field woefully unprepared to do the job they were sent out to do. Technicians are mostly ill-trained. They watch videos, are coached on how to take the state pest control applicator's license, and are rushed through the training so that they can get out and start making the company money. They are expected to do perform their service calls in a lightning fast manner, get the money and then get the hell out and go to the next sucker. In this way, Terminix realizes a better dollar-per-hour return.

At the end of the day, the technicians are expected to make a certain number of phone calls to their regular customers to tell them that they will be coming out the next day. The technicians are then told to call their old customers (ones who have cancelled their accounts) and badger them into starting up the service again. Another thing- when you cancel your account, get it in writing. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen Temrinix blatantly and willfully ignore a customer's account cancellation request and then end up doing the service the next month (usually outdoor "barrier treatments" where they spray around the house when the customer doesn't have to be home). When the customer refuses to pay, they are sent to collection.

Terminix is the most vile, unethical company that I have ever worked for. The funny thing is, they are part of Servicemaster and Servicemaster makes no bones about the fact that they are a "Christian" enterprise. Stay away from Terminix. Far away!

Terminix has been billing me for services they have not even conducted. They do not return phone calls and continue to send bills with new charges. The account had been canceled months ago per a phone representative, but when I called again they had never closed it. I purchased the home in 07/2009. The previous owner had Terminix and we decided to continue the termite contract the previous owner had. I made payment up front for one year of services with termite control and a guarantee that if there was any damage or infestations, it would be taken care of with no additional cost. After making payment a few months later, we saw some ants in the kitchen and scheduled an appointment. We were told there would not be any charge for any appointments or treatments as this would be part of our contract and they would come back as many times as we needed them to. They said there would be a money-back guarantee, if they could not resolve the issue.

A termite service man from Terminix came to our home in 03/2010 and stated our contract would not cover ants and we would need to purchase a pest control contract. Originally, we were told the termite contract would cover ants, termites, etc. I asked them how much it would be and they said it would be $224.85 after the seasonal discount and it would cover all services, including free in between scheduled service visits if needed.

They sent a service man to the house to spray for ants. He sprayed for ants and left in about 5-10 minutes after arriving. We continually had ant problems in the same exact spot the service man had sprayed. I called them, and asked for them to spray again. They sprayed and we still had problems with ants. I called and made an appointment again, in which they had not shown up for, but then charged us for. I went online and then noticed a few days later they started billing me for the extra visits, which we had been told we would not be charged for.

All sorts of charges started showing up on our Terminix account, even on days they had not provided any services. They started billing us for appointments they had not even had and had not even shown up for. I called up and canceled all the services and asked for a credit back as they had the money back guarantee if they could not fix the problem. I called 1-800-terminix. A woman answered after a few phone prompts. I told her the problem and she said she would take care of everything and cancel the services. She said, “Don’t worry, I will credit your account and your contract will be canceled.” I left it alone, believing it had been taken care of. Now it’s August 21st, 2010 and I received a letter in the mail stating we have a balance of $521.94 and total amount currently due was $353.03. I called up and asked for them to fix this as I was not supposed to be charged. I also mentioned they continually charged me for services they had not even provided.

The customer service representative gave me the runaround and said they could not make any decisions. It would have to go through your local office located at 45 S Service Road, Plainview, NY 11803, which they spelled wrong on the billing statement as "Planview". They said they would call the office and see if they could get a manager to answer. She came back on the phone and said no one was around and she would leave a message for them to call me back.

I waited a week from August 21st to Friday August 27th. I did not receive any phone call backs and decided to call again. They had said, again, “We can not help you, you have to wait for a manager to call you back. We will send you a message on his Nextel to call you. He will call you in the hour.” I did not receive any messages or call backs. I called again on Saturday and Monday over four times. I received the same run around, and was hung up on 3 out of 4 times I called. They asked me to hold for the local office and disconnected me. Called again and the lady yelled at me, saying someone would call me back in the next 10 minutes and hung up on me.

The last person I spoke with was a man, who said it didn’t even show that I called over the past couple days. He said the only call I show was on August 21st and there was an email sent to 2 managers to give you a call back that day. I said nobody had called me and we went over the phone numbers and contact information. He said, “Ok, hold on and I will transfer you to your local office on Long Island.” He then hung up on me. I called again and said I am going to file a complaint with Consumer Affairs and to relay that message to your management. It is now 6 hours later and still no return phone calls.

They sent me a letter stating if I don’t make payment within 10 days, they will refer my account over to their collection agency. I have been calling to resolve the balance they state I owe when I do not actually owe anything. The lady threatened me, saying they would file a negative report on my credit report. I have an 820 credit score and perfect credit, which has made me very upset and stressed out. I do not know what to do to get this resolved as they clearly try to corner you into paying for false charges through threats. I am very protective of my credit and proud to of never ever made any payments in my life late. I am very responsible and do not want to be negatively affected for unauthorized fraudulent charges. My customer number is ** with Terminix. Please help me. I did a yahoo search on complaints with Terminix and see this is a very widespread problem. There seems to be hundreds of other people with the same problems with this company.

I called for service (again) on Saturday (8/7) at 8:30am, then three more times before 5:30 pm (closure). Never got call back. Never got service. Even the supervisor, Stacey **, never called back. Now, it’s 54 hours later and no return call and no service yet. I signed up for Terminix about 6 months ago. And I cannot wait for the 12 month contract to expire. I have never had such horrible customer service in one place. When I first signed up, they apparently didn't even write my phone number down, so my first "scheduled" appointment they did not show up for and they claimed it was because they did not have my phone number to call and verify the appointment.

Then my first bill came, and I was told I did not have to pay until the end of the first three months (quarterly bill). So, I sent in my check around the middle of the third month. I look on a totally different credit card account, one I used to put the initial deposit down for the services, and they charged that card. So I basically got double charged. I called customer service to explain what happened, and they said, Yeah sure we will credit your account (on the credit card, not my checking account. So I wait a couple weeks, and nothing appears credited to my account.

I call again, and they say, "Oh, okay we will credit your account and told me a totally wrong number, less than what I should have been credited. This kept going for another month until finally, I discover a check in the mail for the amount I double paid. Which is not even what I wanted. I wanted my credit card account credited. I did not even call to complain because I knew it would get me know where. From there I have had at least three instances of scheduled appointment issues- either they really didn't put me on the schedule, they scheduled an appointment without even calling to tell me, so the guy just showed up just as I was leaving for work. Appointment times have been wrong.

I am so sick of the company. I do not recommend it to anyone. They need to learn how to run a business. Oh and one more thing. The customer service reps were all rude women. They all need to be fired.

I received a confirmation email from **** to acknowledge receipt of my submission. Then later that same day, I received an email from **** that said exactly this: “Your complaint has been selected for publication on our site and will appear within the next 48 hours.” I have checked back several times and it has not been published. I have tried to email them but the email address proved as the one to respond to on their emails to me does not work.

The representative said that I could not cancel because I had a year contract. I do not remember signing any contract or verbally agreeing to any contract. I asked to speak to a manager and I was told that a manager would call me back. Nobody called me back.

Four hours after, I came home to find out that Terminix sprayed my front yard and entered my back yard to spray as well. A bill for the entire unscheduled service, $101.76, was left on my door. They did not complete the service and never sprayed the inside of my house. They have my credit card and already took this money.

I immediately called 1-800-Terminix and asked for a manager. I was told that the manager was in a conference and they would call me back. Again, I never received a call back. I then went online and filled out a customer contact form in Terminix's website and was told that I would have an email response within 24 hours.

I have never had an email response from this complaint and a manager has never called me back. Right now, I believe that they will continue unscheduled spraying of my yard and continue to charge my credit card.

After initially paying over $2,000 to exterminate termites, I naively pay Terminix an annual fee to inspect their traps and to ensure that I have no further damage. While getting a quote for the exterior painting of my house, the painter pointed out that I had termite damage on the garage frame. He explained that the damage should be covered under my maintenance plan and suggested that I call Terminix and have them come out and take a look at the damage. The technician inspected the site and concluded that there was no active infestation and therefore I couldn't prove that the damage occurred on their watch. I accepted the findings. The painter came out last week to remove and replace the damaged wood. Lo and behold, the wood was actively infested. He saved the larvae and placed the damaged wood to the side of the driveway.

When I came home, he told me what had occurred and suggested I call Terminix. I called Terminix and now they say that they will not pay for damage as I am in violation of my contract since the painter was repairing the damage. Only they can replace the damaged wood. I explained that I had followed their rules and if their technician was not so incompetent, they would have been the ones doing the replacing. They absolutely refuse to do anything because I am in violation of the contract. They misdiagnosed the problem and should pay for the damages. Terminix refuses to pay for damages covered by the annual maintenance contract.

I have an ant problem. I called Terminix and schedule an appointment between 10AM and Noon the next day.

At 11AM, I called just to confirm and offer directions to my house as it's a little hard to find. The service representative says that no directions is needed, all is fine and on schedule. At noon, no-show. So at 12:15, I called to see what the story is. The service representative apologizes and says that they will call the technician and call me back. He also clearly identified himself as being in my "local office."

He called me "Buddy" and assured me that I would get a call back very soon but nobody calls me back for another half hour. I called again and reach a nice lady in Mississippi who again apologizes and says she will contact my local office and have someone call me. She also says that she will call me back in fifteen minutes to confirm that someone reached me. There was no call from locals. Fifteen minutes later, Mississippi call me and shares my anger about no calls from the locals. She then conferences in the local guy. He's also nice (but nice doesn't help all that much after so much runaround).

His name is Jerry ** and he clearly explains that Terminix does not service my town and that nobody is or ever was on the way to my house. I made an appointment and spoke to at least four other Terminix employees to confirm the appointment, then to inquire about the delay and nobody ever detected that the company didn't even service my town!

Mississippi calls me back again in a few to see what the final result was. She is now going to send an email around the company and try and see who took the appointment, who falsely identified himself as being in the local office (the guy who called me Buddy). Man, that's frustrating.

Frankly, I had mixed feelings about calling Terminix. It's a fact that dealing with a smaller local company is always better than dealing with the national brand. I can't say anything about the quality of their service or their prices but I can say that their phone system is terrible and deceptive and that their organization is just lacking. Like all businesses, there will be good people and bad people. I had some of both, but the bottom line is that the company is deeply flawed. Go local! Bugs infestation is still here and the solution is delayed. There is possible damage to my home due to the mistakes made by Terminix. I affirmed my commitment to stick with the smaller local companies.

We had been using Terminix service for bug control for over 10 years and were satisfied with the performance until 2003. It was suggested that we purchase automatic crawl space louvers and a water abatement contract to keep the humidity/moisture at an acceptable level. The assessment sheet indicated that was all that was necessary.

In 2007, we decided to sell the house. The prospective buyers had a home inspection performed which identified a potential water problem in the crawl space. It was identified that the property had a "faulty grade". We contacted Terminix and asked them to review the report and advise us as to the actions required. He arrived that evening and performed his evaluation. His response was that everything looked good and no action was required; however, if we wanted we could install an adatement system but it was not necessary. We sold the house and the buyers sued us for selling a house that had water issues in the crawl space.

During further investigation, both the buyers experts and ours agreed that the lot grade was faulty. The Terminix evaluation sheet specifically allows for the representative to identify this condition and recommend a course of action. They failed! There were 4 defendants sited in this case because Terminix failed to identify the faulty grade which was clearly a requirement imposed by the check-sheet. Our out of pocket was $65,000; however all defendant costs exceeded more than $300,000 over the 2 year period.

We called to have a technician check a spot in a bedroom that had previously been treated. He said, "Yep, them termites", then instructed me to call for a technician to come out to actually treat. Why I had to do this, I am not sure? Why send someone out who couldn't treat?

This guy claimed to have inspected the entire home inside and out. I was here the whole time, he only looked at the area I showed him and in the garage. Two days later, a technician came and spot treated the suspect area. The very next day, I found another area where the termites had chewed through in another room.

I called Terminix back and was told that it would be another week before someone could come out. This would be my 3rd day taking off from work. I questioned their policy on "same day solution." I was told that only meant they could schedule an appointment on the day you notify them. That does not mean they would do anything on that day. Really?

That is very misleading to me after a variety of miscommunication and non-returned phone calls. I was still seeing live termites from the treated area. I asked to speak with a supervisor regarding this and to have someone else come out and check the area. That was October 6, 2009. As of today, May 21, 2010, no one has called.

Seven months and there's still no call. How can these people stay in business? I have noticed more live activity in yet another area and I am, at present, attempting to talk with a supervisor or manager to find out why we have had so many infestations after they did a full treatment. Verbally, I was given a price of $150 per vent, and with two minuscule-size attic spaces the price rocketed to $1,900 + taxes. The whole job took 3 hours of low-speed activities by two gentlemen, during which time 5 vents were installed and (according to the application record) 4 bails of T.A.P. insulation were applied to two tiny attic spaces. Later, I did some online research and found that the automatic vents are ranging in price from $19-70 but there was not a single one priced at $150. The exactly same vents with life-time warranty from another supplier were priced at $40 (Terminix claims high price resulted from their life-time warranty added to the manufacturer's one year, regardless of the customer's will to pay for it!).

Then that same day, she started bleeding profusely from her rectum and I saw something that looked like pellets, so I took them and Neka to the vet ASAP! The vet told us that the pellets were in fact rat poison and Neka had eaten them! We were very lucky that I took her in when I did or she would have bled to death that night! She had to get a huge injection and is on medication for the next two months three times a day. I have to take her once a week for blood tests to make sure she is clotting as she should. Each visit is $100. I would pay $1,000,000 if it meant keeping my baby alive.

I called the local Terminex office when I saw the pellets to get information for the vet, and no one, not one person would help me! I was put on hold forever. And then I called again and got one lady that did finally send the vet some papers. I have called back again to ask how this could happen when they told me that this poison would not come out of the boxes, the area that the boxes are in are fenced off, however, the regular guy was here that same day that Neka ate the poison and we are wondering if he did spill some pellets and did not bother to clean them up.

He really had a “I don't give a ** attitude” as well. This company is horrible! I have had trouble when I have paid them and they have said that I didn't even after I showed them canceled checks, etc. I will never use Terminex again! They also told me if there were termites in, around, or near my house, that it would all be the same "colony". Two years ago, in the spring, I had swarming termites in the living room again.

One year ago, in the spring, I had swarming termites in the living room again. I am knowledgeable about termites. I know what they look like. I know what termite damage looks like. I found termites around my home last fall, as close as six feet to a "Terminix Bait station". I was told by a tech that the "bait stations" contain no poison; it’s only added when termite activity was detected. The only problem has been that the stations have been poorly monitored. Terminix has not "seen any signs" of termites. Yesterday, I went around and thoroughly checked each station, and did indeed find termite damage to the pieces of bait in several stations. Never once was poison applied to my property!

Obviously, I am still going to have termites! I am anticipating that the termites will swarm in my living room again this year. Many times, I tried to communicate my problems to the company only to get a run around with an array of people! I also learned that my contract was an agreement not to sue them. The approximate original cost of the 18 month service was $2,500, after they financed it for me. Now, they want more money and the termites were never eliminated. And swarming termites inside the home indicate that they are still doing structural damage somewhere inside the home.

In my first week, I realized that Terminix is one of the most evil corporations in the country. I immediately told all of my friends to avoid them like the plague and to tell their friends to do the same. In my second week, I came up with a nickname for the company: the Wal-Mart of Pest Control (anyone who's seen the documentary "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price" will know what I'm talking about).

Some customer complaints I hear are a bit silly, not being able to come out when they demand it (there are other customers ahead of you and yes, you do have to wait your turn. Welcome to the real world!), but I've seen a ton of billing problems since my start, most of them justifiable complaints. They have this bizarre phone system that will connect someone to another branch even if they call their local one. The premise is that it's better for the customer to get a live person rather than voicemail but the CSRs are not allowed to announce which branch they're at when answering the phone! Another premise is that any CSR in the country can help the customer but then the overly and unnecessarily complex computer system will only allow an employee at the customer's home branch to make certain changes! So much for complete customer service!

Furthermore, they treat their employees like slaves, no hourly pay for salespeople (not unusual but not justifiable either), heavy workloads for techs (up to 14 hour days in the summer) and their CSR's are severely underpaid. Files are stacked everywhere in a branch and if you need to find one, it's basically a crapshoot. (No electronic filing! Hello! It is the 21st century now!) Never in my life (over 50 years) have I worked for a company whose goods or services I could not recommend to anyone but I have finally found such a place and its name is Terminix, a division of Service Master (as in Service to The Master).

Worst experience I have ever had from a company! What you read here is absolutely true and they are not isolated incidents! This company is completely unethical, is profit driven and has absolutely no regard for customers concerns or time!

My ordeal began when my house qualified for the so-called Terminix Ultimate Protection Guarantee through the Windsor, CT office. Once you pass the initial inspection, it supposedly covers all expenses for termite treatments and new damage if during the contract period, termite activity is discovered. Following an inspection that discovered termite activity 4 months after the initial inspection, I was supposed to receive a phone call from Dave, the service manager in the Windsor, CT office, to schedule treatment. I was very reasonable in the times that I called back each time to leave a message. Well I did not receive any calls from this so-called service manager for one full month and only after I called 6 times over these 4 weeks, left 6 messages through 4 different offices and had an email sent to this guy from another office did I, by chance, catch him in his office. He said that he could squeeze me in the next day.

A tech came out, but it was obvious that the visit was to drill a few holes and be done with it just to get rid of me. Any reputable exterminating company will tell you that spot treating for termites isn't effective, so I explained that the length of the slab should be treated to ensure that the problem is fixed (I even offered to pay for a full treatment). We agreed that I would prep the floor for treatment (laminate) so the process of drilling and injecting could go quickly on another visit and I would call Dave to reschedule once I was done removing the floor in those areas. I was reluctant in agreeing but went forward with the plan anyway, since I thought that maybe it would at least be done properly.

I prepared the area by removing the flooring and called to schedule a treatment but once again, I had to leave a message for Dave which resulted in no return phone call after 3 days. Needless to say, I cancelled the contract and hired a reputable company (independent) that didn't ignore me or avoid me like the service manager did at Terminix. The company I ended up hiring was very professional, on-time and treated my house properly and thoroughly to ensure that the problem was fixed.

If you think that maybe you will be one of the lucky ones if you decide to go with this company, let me say one thing: the odds are stacked against you. They will not provide you with the service needed to address your termite problems. If you need verification on this, spend 5 minutes of your time researching Terminix complaints. You will quickly find out that their track record for poor customer service and unethical practices is widespread and very common.

I have never seen such bad business practices in all my life. If this is the way Terminix conducts its business, then people need to be concerned about any work Terminix does or words they say. A little history. My name is Don ** and I opened my account with Gary ** from Terminix in Tampa, Florida. The contract is for bug and termite protection, and the cost was for $719.04 for one year. The amounts of $59.92 is to be debited from my checking account each month using EasyPay. The $59.92 represents $33.25 for the termite piece and $26.67 for the bug side, total $59.92 each month. The initial inspection was conducted on 09/10 by a Terminix associate named Aramis and the initial EasyPay debit was charged to my checking account on 09/17 for $59.92. So far so good.

On 09/28, I noticed unusual charges on my account for $26.67. The charges continued to hit my checking account each day. One on 09/25, one on 09/28, three on 09/29, one on 09/30. Alarmed and fearing fraud, I called my bank and they informed me that Terminix was doing the charges. I contacted Monica at my local Terminex in Tampa, 813-015-4080. She said she would have corporate look at what is causing the problems and work to resolve it. I also called Gary ** on Wednesday, 09/30, and let him know what was going on since he sold me the plan. He said he would call the office.

On Thursday, 10/01, Colleen from the local office called and said they were working on the problem and would refund the unauthorized charges and any overdraft fees they may have caused. Luckily, they didn't. On Friday, 10/02, Charmaine from regional called and said they were working on the problem and that she would have refunded the unauthorized charges on Friday, but she wanted to see if the charges had stopped first since that is what they had done. Good enough answer. She said she would reverse the charges on Monday and made it seemed that reversing the charges and crediting back my checking account was no big deal. Charmaine also said Terminix was stopping the auto debits to stop the charges. I also was stopping the debits by changing my card number through my bank, the debit card that was being used for the charges.

The final unauthorized charge on my checking account was on Thursday, 10/01. Seven charges in all for a total of $186.69. On Monday, 10/05, no reversal of charges and no call, no update. I called the local reps and spoke with Tiffany and she put in a request for Charmaine to call with and update. I also called Charmaine and asked for an update. On Monday, 10/05, I did get a call from a Terminix rep named Jay that my debit card had been denied and she wanted to talk to me about it, but when I called late around 6:30PM, she had left (I don't usually get home before 6PM). On Tuesday, 10/06, no call from Charmaine, no update on the reversal of the charges. No contact at all. I called again the local Tampa number and no notes on the account from the previous calls. It is like I am calling for the first time.

Taking money without authorization is just plain wrong. To blame it on a glitch is just poor business. Like a glitch is an excuse for taking money not authorized, like a glitch absolves you of having to worry about quickly fixing the problem. And then to not quickly refund the error and not return calls, and create calls for the customer is the worst, the worst, the worst customer service.

Here is my recent complaint to Terminix. I am awaiting a response. In 2008, our property was inspected. Termites were found in the attic and the balcony. I was never notified of the day to expect treatment. The balcony was treated on a day in which I was not home and had no notification. The attic was not. I made several calls to over a period of months to reschedule treatment. The first two were not returned although the woman I spoke to promised they would be. On a third attempt, not a treatment completion but a re-inspection was scheduled. On the appointed date and time, no inspector showed up or called to cancel.

Our townhouse complex was scheduled for its 2009 annual inspection yesterday, October 3. Again, no inspector showed and no call; owners of four units waiting for the inspection. If Terminix would like to continue to have this HOA as a client, Terminix will tent our structure and rid it of termites. We are tired of paying for no service! Other owners have similar stories. Tent or the account will be canceled. We already have bids from other companies for a tenting. Yes, I understand the termites could be back the next week but with Terminix, I've had the same termites in the attic for the last two years.

I called Terminix three weeks ago and I received an estimate from William **. William ** assured me that he can get rid of the bugs. I then signed a $512 year contract in which $300 was due that day for the guarantee to get rid of them. A day later, two inspectors came out to treat the home and informed me that they were gone. Two to three days later, I saw another bug crawling and I made another appointment. Breon and Kabaski came out again and treated the three bedrooms for a second time. This time I asked about the live roaches and spiders I was still seeing in my home and they told me it is normal because they are coming from the surface of the home. I ignored it. Before they left, they told me to wait a couple of days to go back in my room.

I waited a couple of days and realized after I allowed my 11-year old daughter to sleep in her room, they were biting her again. I only allowed my daughter to be a guinea pig for Terminix because I could not watch them crawl around me if I were sleeping. By this time I am in tears because I feel this is not controllable. I made another appointment via internet because I was too afraid to call the local center back in fear of being treated like an annoying customer and after the argument the branch manager and I had (Breon). I complained to Williams ** and the area manager Scottie of Breon's rude behavior as he yelled to me, "He will give me my money back."

The next four days and Scottie and a new manager were there to assess the home. They placed 20 trap cards throughout the home and sent a rep to look at the traps this past weekend, 9-19-09. The inspector said I have no bugs and left. I cried when he left because I felt no one at the company believed me. I went to Aaron's furniture to buy new mattresses and box springs for my bedrooms. I even showed the area manager the contract. I then asked, "Why would I buy more mattresses and box springs if I felt they were gone?" I firmly believe this company is in practice of doing unreachable and unobtainable guarantees, so they take your money first and see if they can perform the job. I do not like feeling like I am desperate for attention; I only called them because they said they could help.

In June 2009, we signed a year long contract for services with Terminix for quarterly treatments for carpenter ants. Our first service call was fine. On September 9th, we received an email stating that services had been rendered on September 8th. My husband and I had both been home all day and I had even been working outside in my yard for most of the day. There was no way someone came to our home to spray, especially during the time period they claimed. When I contacted the branch office in Rochester and spoke with the acting branch manager Barbara ** regarding this, she adamantly claimed that the technician had been to our home during the time stated, and said that she could track the vehicle on (her) computer and that the vehicle parked up the street at house number 85 and walked to (our) residence at number 10.

When I told her that our street numbers only go up to 50 and that house number 85 does not even exist, first she told me I was mistaken then she proceeded to accuse me of lying to her. She was almost immediately belligerent and defensive with me, raising her voice and repeatedly interrupting me. When I told her that she was perpetrating a fraud and asked for a regional manager's name and phone number, she hung up on me. When I spoke with the executive offices at 901-597-1111, I related this issue to a woman named Laverne, who did not at all seem surprised, interested or concerned regarding this matter. She did, however, agree to cancel my contract. The payment has already been charged to my credit card and she could not tell me how long it would take to receive a credit. This company attempted to perpetrate a fraud, plain and simple, got caught, and treated the customer who caught them with complete disrespect. I urge anyone looking for pest control services to not choose Terminix.

I was a customer of Terminix up until 8/31/2009. I was on a quarterly service basis with Terminix. I renewed my service on 8/6/2009. A tech came out and sprayed my home inside and out to include my yard where I expressed I had seen ant activity. On the day of the service, the tech left my back gate open, so my dog got out. When I realized my dog had gotten out, I called the office in Niceville to complain. The customer service rep said she would call back, and that never happened. A week or 2 later, I called requesting a second treatment and the company never called back to schedule.

On 8/31/2009, I called to cancel my services with Terminix. I was told I would not receive any kind of refund. I paid $70.00 for a quarterly service. The service was up for a renewal 11/2009. I spoke with a general manager Jeff at the Niceville office. He informed me I did not pay for the yard service, and since I would not be receiving a refund, he went on to say sorry. I feel I paid for a service I have 2 months left that was paid for and that since I cancelled, I'm due some sort of refund or at least reinstate my services since it was paid in full for the quarter. I am a consumer and feel that was very wrong. I feel I wasted my hard-earned money. And furthermore, the tech should not have sprayed my yard if that was not part of my service and advised me that was a separate service altogether. Also, the general manager said he had no record of me calling in until today, which is untrue.

I suppose I'll have to send another one by registered mail to receive documentation that they got my letter. They can conceivably continue to bill me quarterly and say they never received any cancellation letter. They've only been out two times in one year. Fortunately, I haven't had any pest problems aside from some spiders. Seemingly, it takes a freaking act of Congress to get my account cancelled. I've already had to pay for an additional three months of service I didn't want because of the cancellation clause well buried in the fine print on the back of the invoice. Now I suppose they will play ignorant when I bring up that I sent a letter of cancellation two months ago. I'll probably get nicked for another payment.

I signed a 1-year contract and paid the year in full upfront. One year later, they sent an invoice to renew. I ignored the invoice. Because of unforeseen financial circumstances, I would not be able to renew. So I thought, I don't pay and they won't come. Wrong. They automatically renewed my account and came out anyway, which I found out later is some fine print in the contract. Then, they start harassing me for the $78 quarterly fee they automatically charged/renewed. So, I paid it and requested that they not renew my account.

When I called and requested service in the quarter I paid for (because they say you can get additional services as needed without charge in your contract paid), they refused to service me because I "canceled." Obviously, I wouldn't cancel something I paid for. The cancellation should be effective at the end of my quarter. So basically, if you don't call to "cancel," they will automatically renew and then harass you for the money; or you call and request not be renewed, and they take it upon their selves to breach your contract and refuse to service you!

I have been 'round and 'round with these people, and I have been promised a call from the service manager. But of course, they had their money and they would not call me back. The customer service people were rude too; one of them actually sarcastically remarked about how the notes stated "you can't afford it!" which was really rude and irrelevant, considering I did pay for it.

Although I was promised that the stations would be replaced, it did not happen until recently. The technicians, however, did document my stations were read and that no termite activity was present. I also observed that the technician spent approximately 1 minute in my yard, stating (again shown by inspection documentation) that he read the 23 stations and no activity was present. The new branch manager, now the third one handling my case, told my husband and I that the new stations were installed incorrectly. I keep getting a promise to get things fixed and they also agree to my terms, but continue to fail on execution.

On June 9, 2009, Terminix sent an operator named Victor to our office to exterminate bedbugs. Our interns were here in the office watching and they said he squirted some stuff around while listening to his iPod and talking on his cellphone. The interns left for the night and came back a day or so later. They were bitten again by bedbugs. Terminix did not respond to repeated phone calls for help even though the contract said within 30 days they would perform additional service for free if needed. So we contracted another company to do the job Terminix didn't do. The contract said to call within 3 business days to cancel the transaction, which of course, we tried to do several times and got no response.

Our Amex card was charged $460.59 on 6/9/08. On 7/10, I called a branch manager in Melville named Carl, who told me to talk to James ** in White Plains on 7/17. He promised to credit our Amex and I faxed him a letter confirming the details of our call and the bill. It was never credited back to our account. I called Mr. ** again on 11/13/08 and he said he would check with their Accounts Payable Department and call back. We never heard from him again and did not get our money back. These people are charlatans! The company who finally exterminated the bedbugs did a fantastic job that made the little squirting Terminix did look like a joke. Terminix was like a squirt gun compared to the nuclear weapon used by the other company.

I purchased a one year contract paying annual price up front. Terminex would show up for appointments, but the service level was inconsistent. The 1-year agreement expired & the technician showed-up unannounced, no one was even home. He didn't come into the house (obviously) so I don't know what he actually "serviced" and no one signed off on his completed service. How do I verify what he did?

The first I knew of this extra service was when a bill for $91.65 arrived. Terminex claims they continue service after the contract and I, thus, owe them $91.65, claiming the contract automatically continues beyond 1-yr life. Sounds like shoddy business practice to me. So, I dispute the bill, no one returns my calls (for a while), then no one gives me an explanation to my above challenges. They simply said that I owed the balance. I drop the matter and they promptly put me in collections after 90 days. What are my rights now? Who is on my side protecting against such poor practices?

I tried calling Terminex again 6/23, when collections called me (again, first I knew I was in collections). My name/number was taken and passed onto a field manager. I did not receive a reply from the field manager. I called back today, 6/29, and was promptly told there was nothing they could do, I had to pay. I told them I would not pay and would file a formal complaint. They didn't care and hung-up. I thought Terminex brand stood for something more. I'm really quite shocked by this treatment. What are my rights now? I still owe the balance and now may have a mark on my credit rating as a result of trying to stand-up for my rights. I see many other similar complaints posted - so I'm not alone. I shouldn't have to pay & others shouldn't be subjected to this practice in the future.

I contacted Terminix because I had a flea problem. The service man came as promised and when he walked in, he immediately said that he had been working for Terminix since 1989 and he had never had a call for fleas in my area. I told him that I had a previous problem with fleas about 6 yrs ago and was able to get rid of them myself. He still insisted that my area did not have any flea problems. I told him about my bites and he said it sounded to him that I had bed bugs. I was mortified.

I believed that maybe it could be I also had bed bugs but I still had fleas. He looked down at his pant legs and said that if I had fleas, he would see them on his pants. I told him to sit for 5 minutes and he would feel them on his legs. I asked if bed bugs jump up, he said no. I showed him some bugs but he said he wasn't wearing his correct eye glasses and could not see them, he would take it in to get analyzed. He went on to insist that I had bed bugs and he was not prepared to spray for them. Only for fleas. He said it would cost $350 or $550 depending on how bad the problem was. I still insisted I had fleas. He left without spraying for fleas and said he would have the sample looked at.

He called the next day to say that it was a piece of plastic and not a bug. He had also told me that he had to identify 35 different insects to get the job. I wondered why he kept trying to convince me he was good. He said he would be by in a few days to put some traps down, so he could get proof of the insects before they sprayed. I agreed, but not happy, because I still had fleas and was getting bitten daily. It was getting worse day by day.

The day he showed up to put the traps down, I again told him I had fleas. He smiled, looked down at his pants legs again and said he didn't see fleas. Frustrated, I let him put the traps down. He said that if I had any fleas or bed bugs, the traps would catch them. I kept checking the traps and never saw one bug on them. That night when I felt them jumping on my legs. I got one of the traps and put it on top of my legs to see if I could catch one. I laughed when I saw them jumping onto the trap and jumping off! He left 12 traps, in a dresser drawer, behind my bed, against base boards, etc.

I insisted he spray for fleas, he again said he was not equipped to do that and he needed proof that I had fleas and or bed bugs before he could spray. I called him on that and told him he was lying because the first time he came, he was prepared to spray for fleas and he didn't ask for proof before I started telling him about the fleas. Needless to say, I was angry and by this time he was too. I told him I would sign a waiver to dismiss their liability if they sprayed for fleas and I found that I had bedbugs. He told me he would return 3 to 4 days later to pick up the fleas. I even gave him a sample of a flea I found in my car.

Again, I'm living with these fleas jumping on my legs, never able to relax, at the same time, I'm sprinkling box after box of borax on my carpet, including baking soda and salt to try and get rid of some of them. I also was vacuuming and vacuuming, and throwing the bags out after each vacuum. I was exhausted and mentally drained! I waited three days and called the Terminix office again and asked three representatives if I needed proof for fleas and they all said no, not for fleas. Then I insisted that they come out and spray for fleas, I didn't want another evaluation, just spray! They agreed and made an appointment for two days later.

The day before the appointment, a representative from the local office called to confirm that I wanted to get sprayed for fleas and not bed bugs, and that they would be out the next day. I must have repeated my request and confirmed three times in that phone call. When the serviceman (the same one) came to my door I asked him if he was here to spray for fleas. His face froze and said no, he had an order to come and take another look. I was done! He blamed it on the office that the order was botched up. He would not take any responsibility for my concerns. He left with the empty trap, again insisted he didn't see fleas, I told him he needed to get his eye glasses. That only upset him. He left upset, at this point I didn't care.

I called him about 5 minutes later to ask what happened with the evaluation of the flea sample I gave him from my car, he said I never game him a sample. I called the next day and spoke to more representatives, never was able to get into the local office of which he gave me a business card to. Needless to say, I canceled my request, it is now two weeks later, plenty of time for those fleas to hatch more and more eggs and of course they are hatching! I called another company to come out and spray. They didn't need proof. They were very professional. He agreed, he couldn't see the fleas. But because I had vacuumed so much, he said I did a great job because normally, the jobs he had for fleas, he could see them on his pants. Well, by this time I felt I was going crazy.

After I entered my home again, 4 hours later with my cats, I felt great, feeling very secure and relaxed. Less than 10 minutes later, they were back. I immediately called and the office was closed. I called first thing the next morning and was told it takes up to one week for all the fleas to be gone. So now I am just waiting for the day to come that I won't feel those bugs anymore. I, also, because I went to work while all this was going on, I must have had some hitchhike to work with me. I work at a garage where technicians come in from working at customer's homes. Around the same time my problem started, a technician came into the office slapping his legs and said he had fleas from a customers home. Great! A couple of days ago, I was again mortified because I felt those bugs again now at work!

I tried to address to someone and it was ignored because they didn't see any problem. Well, now there is and I again addressed the problem. Thanks to a supervisor, I am able to report to another location for work until the problem is resolved and so I don't have to bring those fleas back home. I hope anyone out there who is thinking about calling Terminix, do your homework first! By the way, I don't have bed bugs, could be I may have had one or two, but because I was relentless, I steamed, vacuumed and sprayed my mattress, never saw a bedbug myself. I sprayed the bed every night before I went to bed, and have gone through numerous cans of bug spray and off to try and keep them off my body. Unfortunately, it isn't 100% proof, but it does help. Good luck to anyone out there thinking of going to Terminix for help with fleas. The fleas and I are on first name basis now.

In October 2007, my 71 year old widowed mother hired Terminix to fumigate her 1913 3-storey farmhouse in rural Seattle, Washington against what Terminix claimed were deathwatch beetles. What followed was a personal disaster of such overwhelming proportions for my mother that I believe she will never recover emotionally or financially. To date, the house is still uninhabitable and Terminix has sent her account to a collection agency because she refused to pay the balance of the invoice for the botched job.

Because the concentration of Vikane gas was so many times higher than it should have been, it formed a corrosive vapor that etched all the smooth surfaces in the entire house: windows, mirrors, silver, china, crystal, appliances, etc. In short, everything in this 4,000 square foot house was contaminated with sulfides. Some things, like clothing, could be cleaned, but not mattresses, upholstered furniture, carpets, wallpaper, sheetrock, wood floors, the list goes on forever. She has not seen a penny from Terminix, their insurance company, or Allstate, who insured her house (except a ridiculously low-ball offer of 21k for the entire contents of her house).

At this point, there seems to be no settlement in sight. They're waiting for my mother to run out of money or die, whichever comes first. This is not how I hoped my mother would spend her later years; exiled from the house that my father restored for her (then passed away in after a long illness) worrying about money, completely exhausted from stress, battling with insurance companies and their lawyers, and so on.

In March 2009, I had a disagreement with the Terminex local office regarding what would happen when the 1 year service agreement I signed was expired. Despite the fact it expired in 2008, Terminex performed an unrequested service at the rental property I own. When I informed them that I had not wanted the service, they indicated it was their standard practice to continue the service after the service contract and that I owed them $86 for the service performed. Despite my disagreement with this practice, I paid for the service using a credit card, but informed them that I was canceling my account. I was directed to the cancellation department where the representative asked me what they could do to keep me as a customer. I told them that they could give me a free service and if I was satisfied, then I would consider another 1 year service agreement. He asked if they could contact me after the free service to discuss the possibility of another 1 year agreement. I agreed.

Terminex performed the free service and then performed a second service the following day which I was then billed for. I never received a call from customer service to discuss a new service agreement. Now, despite several phone conversations and, a letter and written documentation, I continue to receive letters asking for payment of $86 AND the resident of the rental property receives almost daily phone calls asking if Terminex can visit the property to perform the free service (which they’ve already completed!). The business practices and general incompetence of the Terminex staff is disturbing and I have found that when I search the internet for other consumer issues, this is a common problem with Terminex and not just my local office.

First, as I waited for them to show up they never called. When I called them they said they had the wrong phone number for me. After clearing that up they then told me my appointment was not that day. I told them they better come today like promised because I had a serious spider problem. When I spoke to the woman who made the appointment she said it was made for that day and she had the right phone number.

So they finally show up, sprayed for the spiders, and within a half hour they were done. They left and I paid them. Checking around the house I found that my brand new Broyhill headboard had a white spray on it. I got a cloth and tried to wipe it off and to no avail. My headboard was stained with the white spray he used. When I called customer service and told her she contacted the man that sprayed and he told her he only sprayed behind the headboard. When I told her I wanted to talk to him myself she said he would call me back. Well, that was two hours ago and it’s almost 8 pm.

When I saw all the complaints online regarding Terminix, I could have kicked myself. I see they don't respond to complaints. Let's see what happens with the rest of the year I signed up for. Next time I will stick with a local company. I had to remain home all day waiting and am still waiting for a phone call. Brand new Broyhill headboard is now stained (badly stained in three places) with a white spray Terminix used for spiders.

We purchased a one-year contract and paid annual price upfront. Terminix did not show up for appts and serviced the home maybe twice. Now they claim they serviced the house after the contract and I owe them 93 dollars. I did not give permission to service the home, and they claim the contract automatically renews. So, I asked for a cancellation letter, which I did not receive and they have put me in collections. Do not use Terminix. They are deceptive crooks!

I called Terminix to have someone come out and spray for spiders and ants, mainly ants. Someone came out, evaluated our house and then did the inside of our house and gave us a guarantee that if they couldn't kill the pests, then I would get my money back. Well about a week later, I started seeing ants again and they were even worse than the first time. So I called them again and made another appointment. He came out a second time free of charge this time when originally I paid $125 the first time. He did his job again; this time, he used a different stuff.

Well about 2 weeks later, we started seeing ants again and spiders this time too more than usual. So I called them and complained; I told them I wanted my money back. The woman told me that they need to come out more than one time to get rid of the ants. They were already out here twice, and their guarantee is if they don’t get it right the first time, then they would keep coming out till I’m satisfied. And if I wasn't satisfied, then I would get a refund. Well, I wasn't satisfied because I had to call another exterminator. I had to pay them only $65 for them to do the inside and outside of my home only one time and the problem is gone. We called Bassilions Rid-All and this man did a stupendous job. We have been ant free for a month. He said that he was unhappy with what Terminix used because it didn't get the job done, so we are happy with our service with them but disappointed with Terminix. The representatives were rude to us, and they did not honor their guarantee.

The consequences were that we had to throw all of our food away in the cabinets. We had to get new furniture because the ants got into our old furniture. We had to put our dogs outside in a run, because they and their food were getting attacked by ants. I had to clean out the bathtub before I could give my kids a bath because they were in there. Every time we spilled something on the floor, our floor was covered in ants. They were in our dishes and I had to move those. They got into our garbage can; it was a mess. Every time my children sat on the floor, they would have ants crawl up on them. Thank God we had someone who knew what they were doing, fixed the problem but it cost us money.

For 500.00, Terminix has been to my house only once due to a mouse and in 23 of snow.... to say they did an inspection of the outer area of my house. Physically impossible. Won't return my calls. I am inundated with ants, can't get them on the phone, extremely upsetting. I have grandchildren that cannot crawl on the floor due to this condition.

I contacted Terminix in the fall of year 2008 for the treatment of bed bugs. I was told that it will cost me 650 dollars to clean up the bed bugs, I paid that money. My husband and I made all the arrangements needed for the terminator to come and steam and spray (in the initial interview, we were told that the only way to exterminate the bed bugs was through steam). The terminator came on the scheduled day and he was unprepared. He told us that the steam machine was out of order and just the spray was enough.

My husband and I repeatedly asked him whether the bugs would be gone with just the chemical and he said yes. We waited a few days and we went back to use the infected room, which to my misfortune was still infected. I got bites all over my body. Most of these bites are currently permanent scars on my skin and face. I've called and requested second treatment and I was told that I had to wait 2 weeks so I did and I didn't sleep in my own bed for that time. Also, I was promised that this time the steam machine would be in order. So the day came and the terminator came again without the machine and just the spray. He did the spray and again, the bed bugs were present.

After that I called to ask when the machine was going to be ready and I was told 3-4 weeks, after which I decided that I will not need their services any more. It took me a month to finally get my complaint into their Complaints dept. in November and they informed me that I will be refunded half the money, because the bed bug charge is 300 dollars and the remainder is for termites after which I told them I never needed termite protection and I was living in a rental so the termites were not my problem. I was told by their rep that the bed bugs extermination will cost $650 and that is what I paid.

I was notified that starting December 3rd 2008, I have 4-6 weeks to expect my refund. Today is January 27, 2009, nearly 2 months later, and there is nothing from them despite my numerous calls. At the moment, I am moving away from this house because I can't afford to stay here and be bit day after day. I wanted to call a different company but Terminix never gave me my money back and to be honest, I can't afford another $600 or more for another company until Terminix gives back what I am owed.

I have no written contract with Terminix since they purchased my account from another company. However, when Terminix bought my account, I made a verbal agreement with the former Branch Manager, Jesus **, that Terminx would always call me to make an appointment whenever it is time to perform services. In addition, Mr. ** agreed that I would pay them only upon services rendered. As it has happened on other occasions, on 11/28/08, someone from Terminix came to my house to fumigate even though I did not have an appointment for that day. Upon arriving at home the evening of 11/28/08, I found a service ticket in a Terminix plastic bag attached to the doorknob of the front iron door of my house.

I called the current Branch Manager, Gary **, that evening and left him a voicemail message explaining that someone had come by my house to fumigate without making an appointment. Since I was not home, no service was provided. I asked him not to bill me for that visit. On the 30th of November 2008, I sent Gary **, Branch Manager, a letter reiterating what I had explained in my voicemail message. I again asked him not to bill me for the 28th of November. In addition, I asked him to cancel my account. Mr. ** did not return my call nor did he answer my letter. About a week later, I received a bill from Terminix for the alleged service provided on 11/28/08. I sent a copy of the bill back to Terminix processing center explaining all of the above and asking they cancel the charge. Subsequently, I called Mr. ** and left him another voicemail message relating to the matter. I sent a complaint to Terminix via their website.

I received an email stating: "Thank you for contacting the Terminix Executive Services Department. We have received and reviewed your request. A copy of your email has been sent to the attention of the manager at your local Terminix office for follow-up. We apologize for any inconveniences you may have experienced. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact our toll free at 1-866-869-2273 option 3 or by email at terminixcares@terminix.com."

I did not hear from the Branch Manager, so I sent an email to terminixcares@terminix.com on 12/07/08. I did not receive a response to this email. On 1/12/09, I received another invoice/bill for 11/28/08 and two calls from Terminix demanding payment. That same day, I left another voicemail message on Mr. **'s number. I told him that I deem the charges to be fraudulent and that I expect him to follow-up on this problem, although it is apparent from his lack of acknowledgement to my contacts that he may not do so. I have not heard back from anyone from Terminix as of today, 01/19/09.

I called Terminix early August 2008 to cancel my service agreement indefinitely. Then they serviced my house 3 months later and left me with a bill.

    Reasons I cancelled:

    1) After more than a year, there was no noticeable improvement.
    2) They would arrive unannounced and interior was therefore not serviced.
    3) Service was triple the cost that I understood it would be (did not understand that it was $95 EVERY quarter - but went along with the first year assuming I may have misunderstood and that was my own fault).
    4) They would spray outside just before a torrential downpour and clearly would wash away the chemical.
    5) They would not respond to requests for no-cost service between regular quarterly services.
    6) Services were inconsistent - some reps would refuse to spray around the attached 3-season porch or garage.
    7) Carpenter ants were a problem - yet they only provided special service for the ants once time.

    8) Upon initial contact with Terminix, we were guaranteed a free termite inspection - this was NEVER done. The first rep sent to our home stated she was not qualified to do that and no one else ever came to do it. That was the reason I contacted them to begin with.

After a service 5/2/08 that was done, during rain storms, infestation became increasingly noticeable. By July, I went to Terminix website and requested no-cost service for additional pest problems. There was no response again. A week later I phone the office and made the request. They said would get back to me with schedule and I never heard from them again.

Early August I phoned Terminix and told them I wanted to cancel the service indefinitely. I stated the complaints as listed above. Also told them that the next quarterly service (which I apparently had to keep since they claimed I needed 30 days notice to cancel) should not be at my expense, since they did not respond to my no-cost service requests (as they guarantee they will). On 8/26/08, they serviced the outside of our home (unannounced again) and left me with a service ticket with a $4.00 balance. I never received any formal invoice or correspondence from them again. On 11/7/08 I found a service ticket in my front door with a balance of $103. They had just serviced my home unannounced. I phoned the Streamwood, IL office and asked them why they were here - I cancelled our service agreement 3 months ago.

They said they had no record - but it will now be cancelled. However, they said I am still responsible for today's bill of $103. I asked to speak to billing. I got a man who called himself Agent Lane - so I must assume this is the branch supervisor Layne **. I told him I would not be paying this bill as I cancelled my service via phone. He said since I have no backup to prove the cancellation, I must pay the bill. He was rude, arrogant, and threatened to turn me in to collections. In anger at the treatment I was receiving, I blurted out that this is subject to a lawsuit and he said, "Go right ahead. We have corporate lawyers and you can't win and it would never make it to court."

I said I would report them to the Better Business Bureau and he said, "Go right ahead. We'll just turn you in to collections." I asked him why would I claim to have cancelled, knowing that they would come again and I would be billed again, he said, "So you could get out of paying this bill." I was furious. I told him this was apparently a scam and I can't believe he is speaking to me this way. He said if I can't prove cancellation its my word against theirs and they win - I'm the one that would suffer when turned in to collections. I have NEVER been treated so badly by any company in my entire life. My heart was pounding and I could no longer control my anger. I had to hang up the phone on him to avoid saying and yelling anything more to him.

I always record contact information, etc. when calling any company. In this case I did write down my cancellation contact and date - but I cannot find it anywhere. I am still searching. Nevertheless - I DID cancel the service - and under no circumstances do I deserve to be treated this way or THREATENED by Terminix.

I say stupidly because we didn't read the fine print which states that the Service Plan only covers subterranean termites and DOES NOT control or protect against aerial (above ground) infestation of any kind -- the very kind of infestation that he used to convince us we needed protection.

What a rip-off! Please beware of this company's highly suspect sales tactics. Thank goodness we didn't agree to the $1900 Protection Plan -- basically insurance to cover damage caused by those subterreanean termites. To what? What portion of my home is subterranean?

About a month ago we were invaded by hornets (I believe them to be European Hornets). There is a large hive built in the ceiling space over the mud room and their entrance is above our back door. I discovered them when letting our little Terrier out to do his business around 4a.m. When I turned the outside flood lights on the sky above me began to buzz loudly and I saw hornets were attacking the lights. My little guy was stung on his foot and he won't go out now without the escort of his master. Several calls were made in an attempt to locate an exterminator to take care of this problem. Few companies in our area will treat bees (or anything in that class of insect).

Terminex agreed to treat for $150 and a month contract (we have our termite and routine service with Cook's). During the early afternoon a young man arrived from Terminex to treat the hive. He was shocked at how large it appeared to be and I'm not sure that he had much experience with any type of bee. All he seemed to do was make the hornets angry. A week later we still had hornets! Yet another call was placed and the same young man returned in the middle of the day. Same thing: sprayed a couple of cans of wintergreen smelling fluid at the hornets flying around and then left.

he second week I decided to speak with a customer service manager to try and find some resolution to my problem. The operator took a message and I cancelled my plans for the day and waited for the return call. It never came. I called back and was told the service manager is on a conference call with area managers, but will return the call. I asked if he was going to return my call when he gets off of the conference call? I was answered with, Well, it just depends when he gets off of the conference call. This infuriated me!

Well, this is 4 days and many phone calls later and still no call. My month contract will expire in a few days and I suspect that I won't hear from them until that time. My life has been in a holding pattern waiting to talk to someone and my patience is depleted.

I am having to walk my little dog on a leash at all hours. This means that I must get up 30 minutes early (at 3:30 a.m.) and walk him in the dark. If I turn on lights or use a flashlight, hornets come buzzing. Hornets are getting into my home and have I am terrified of them! Once in I have to chase them down and try to kill them before they sting one of us. I am in the process of organizing a large event in my town which requires some travel and errands and all of that has been put on hold. The frustration is just making me angry and shooting my BP & HR up...I don't even want to know what it is, because I hate to increase my meds.

We live in an older adobe home. Three years ago we discovered termite damage to a window frame. I had thought adobe homes were safe from termites--not so. Adobe bricks are made of earth and termites can tunnel through it as easily as through any other earth.

We called several pest control companies. The Terminix rep told us their system, in-ground baits coupled with a biological toxin, would not just kill on-site termites but destroy the termite nest because the worker termites would carry toxic food back with them to feed the other termites. And all this without poisoning our soil, endangering our pets, etc., etc., blah, blah, blah. In short, the only system of termite control any sane person would even consider.

I've lived in New Mexico for nearly 40 years. When I moved here, termites really were not an issue. Now they are, perhaps as a result of climate change, but my prior experience with them was nil and I bit.

We paid them about $400 per year for three years. Our contract called for someone to come and check the baits once a month. Their service was intermittent, and we seldom saw the same technician twice.

March marked the anniversary date for our contract. In seeking a renewal of the contract, they told us they were no longer using the bait system and they would be coming out to remove the traps and do an inspection.

During this time, we had additional termite damage to the same window frame. On the day of the inspection, the technician found no termites in the house, but some under the cement tiles in front of the porch.

The technician had begun pulling up the baits before my husband realized he was on the premises. My husband said, wait a minute, I didn't tell you to take those up. After some discussion, the technician called his supervisor and my husband overheard him say, Yeah, this guy wants to keep them. He thinks they'll protect him from termites.

My husband now tells me they don't offer anything but inspections and what amounts to termite insurance.

Well, we still have termites on the premises and, as far as I'm concerned, three years and $1200 later, we are exactly at square one.

This was a surprise to us - but according to Terminix we had an annual agreement. And so I began a frustrating run around with Teminix customer service. It was soon evident that we had three properties with contracts. But these contracts were bogus - one being unsigned, another signed by a tenant (not us). None were legitimate.

Amazingly, this did not stop Terminix from continuing to enforce sales agreements. We actually paid on many invoices thinking Terminix, a nationally recognised company, must have legitimate reason to bill us. And maintaining excellent credit is our business' highest priority - we don't typically dispute $95 charges. It's now getting into March, 2008 - and we still have not received anything in writing from Terminix confirming that our accounts are cancelled (after multiple requests).

I still communicate with my friends that work there and one said that he had to get out of there because termite techs were going through the trouble of trenching the whole house and drilling but to cut corners and get done early they would not put out any liquid barrier. I also know for a fact that they will come out and treat your house no matter what size for $500-700 dollars just to get your business. So I'm sorry to inform you that if you paid $1500-2000 dollars you could have saved a lot of money.

I have been with the termite manager and we went on a claim and he said we can't cover this, it is carpenter ant damage and I have been in this field for 6 years and I knew it was termite damage, but he was trying to save the company money for HIS BONUS so the customer got the raw end of the deal. Just as a warning, always get a second opinion if you think you have damage and are told you don't. When this certain mgr got the job he told the techs that you guys know more than I do about termites. What kind of leader is that, if he can't even identify termite damage and has been in the business for 10 years?

Customers did not get what they paid for and are being lied to every day. They have a really poor service dept that would rather be at home every day at 2:00 then take care of a 4:30 appointment.

They refuse to honor their waranty to repair the termite damages, saying they should only be responsible for about two years worth of damage, excel the company that they bought their accounts never gave my account to them. When I contacted Terminix about two years ago, they treated me as a new customer and charged me a full price. Eventhough live termite were seen, based on what they told me and according to their own adjusters there is $30,000 damage to the my home.

I have been calling Terminix for three months trying to close an account on a house that I sold in October 2006. They are still going to the house and charging me despite my numerous phone calls, and have put the account into collections while still adding new charges!

I signed up for a 1 year contract for general pest control in my newly constructed home. The service representative never showed up for my follow up service. I called to try and reschedule (three or four times) The phone representatives each time said that they would send someone out. No one ever showed. through Terminix's online customer service form I have requested a full refund of the amount that I paid up front.

I signed up With Terminix in November 2004 because I had an ant infestation in my condo. The sales person delivered a beautiful sales pitch, I signed a one year contract and paid $500.00 up front. The salesperson explained that for one year Terminix will come to my home and service it every 3 months, if there is a problem I can call anytime to request a new service.

The salesman stressed that I am only signing up for one year. I initially wanted a one-time service, but he stated that I have to sign up for one year, since they do not offer a one time service. Terminix never informed me of when they would come to service my property. One time I found their notice on the door. I called them back to request service inside my home, since i still had ants.

I called their 1800 number, they referred me to a local branch, I called a local branch and had to leave a message. after 2 weeks they contacted me, however they would not service me on the days that I was available. I was extremely dissatisfied, I considered my money wasted and in december 2005 I called to make sure that the contract is cancelled. The representatives gave me a run around: i was told that the person who can cancel my contract is not available, and that they will contact me when they can. In february 2006 I got a bill from Terminix, saying I now owe them money for a new year.

I called them back and explained the situation. They are refusing to cancel the new charge. They are referring me from one person to another, they are arrogant and defensive. I asked about their "100 % satisfaction or money back" that they advertised, but they refuse to give me an answer as to how to pursue this matter.

What happened, almost nothing, that's the problem. Just like all of the other complaints except I have been "with" them for 5 years. At first I got 5 introductions within 6 months. Not one was remotely like the woman I made it EXTREMELY CLEAR that I was looking for except one and only one was good looking. Massive personal problems but somewhat easy on the eyes. Since that time, quarterly badgering from me has gotten me nowhere. Finally, in the last year after weekly to daily badgering from me, I have gotten two more "introductions" to women that I would not set up with my worst enemy. They do not give a damn about anyone or anything except money. Typical of dating services in general from my vast experience.

$3500 = 6 dates from hell. It sure does not feel good to be hit emotionally as well as financially in one hit.

I have a yearly contract with Terminix. At the first of the year I started receiving a bill for my yearly service. I paid the bill as per the yearly contract. I have called (earlier in the year) to have my yearly inspection. I was told by a young lady in the office that I could get it at any time and they probably wouldn't be inspecting until "later on." It is now December, 2005, and I have not had my yearly inspection.

When I call the above number to see when it would be scheduled, I find that the number is either not working, etc. as the call will not go through. I have used this same number each time I talked with them. I have gone to the Terminix web site and I can't seem to find a way to contact someone at Terminix to find out what is going on with Terminix. I find the entire actions and (no)service by Terminix highly questionable and you might could say fraud on the part of Terminix. I paid my yearly money to them and to date (for the year 2005) have had no service at all or calls from them to say why.

we signed up for the centricon system. We were told there would be active bait in our systems as stated on our contract. We have a two year contract. After a year we noticied we had termite activity on a fence on our property line. We decided to open up the centricon system and found that they had not put active bait in our systems. What we had inour systems was a placebo or "fake Bait" which more or less does nothing for termites.

I showed the man that comes over to check my stations my contract and he made a call to the main office and told them that on my contract it shows that I should be getting active bait. He put in the acive bait. I called Steve Florio (manager) to discuss this with him because we went 1 whole year out of our two year contract without bait. I told him I either wanted half of my money back or an extended contract. He told me that the box was check off for active bait, but the salesmans initials next to the box meant that it was mistake.

I told him if a mistake was made, a new contract should have been drawn up or it should have been crossed out with both of our initials. Anyway..I'm sure a salesman who has been doing this for years and using the same form over and over for years is unlikely to cross off the wrong ox and then claim his initials next to the box is a "mistake". I told steve I would be taking him to small claims court. He called me back 1 hour later and said he spoke with his legal department and asked me what I wanted.

I again told him I want half of my money back or an extended contract at no charge. This conversation took place on October 31st. I called him on November 3rd and he didn't have an answer for me. He said he needed to speak with his regional manager. It is now November 10 and Steve has not called me back. I filed with small claims court

I had a problem with ants. Called Terminix and a salesman came out that day. Looked around and said yes, they were carpenter ants. Sold me a years contract and had a service man out the next day to spray. Now I have yellow jackets that have gotten in the house through the drywall. I have called 5 days in a row starting on Monday, July 25, for service.

I was told my service man was on vacation and the other person was booked. The service manager would call me. No call was received! I have called every day for a week. On Thursday, July 28 I was told that Brian was back from vacation but completely booked but would fit me in. We called back about noon to say we had to leave at 2:30pm and were told no problem, he would be here. It is now Friday, July 29 and I have called again and been told that he and his service manager are completely booked and can't make it today.

I was told that someone will be here tomorrow, Saturday between 12:00pm and 2:00pm. Although this is inconvenient for me as I am having guests for the weekend, I okayed this request. This is a company that advertising 24 hours response and charges quite a bit of money for a yearly contract, but does not deliver!!!

We have been with Terminex for about five years. We had a guy named Tommy for about two years and he was great. He sprayed the inside and the outside and took care of the fire ants. If I had a problem he would come back out within a couple of days. Tommy left terminex and we got a guy who would call make an appointment to come and never show up or call. Then we got another guy I called terminex to have someone come out and spray becasue I had carpenter ants in my home and it had been six weeks since anyone had came out.

The guy comes out and sprays outside of my house. Two weeks later I call back. The ants are twice as bad. He says this is normal call back in two more weeks if they are still real bad. Two weeks later I have sugar ants everywhere and still have the carpenter ants so I call again. The lady tells me the guy will come out the next Thursday, almost two again. He never showed up never called. SO I called and said I wanted to talk to someone to file a complaint. THis is almost two months or more that im fighting the same problem. So much for terminex satisfaction guarantee.

So I call back again and the lady says she will have him call me. Well he shows up at my house a few hours later with no warning no call nothing. My girlfriends 14 year old daughter was home alone and didn't want him to come while she was there. Which he should have called anyway. This guy knows where my girlfriend works as he sprays the store she works in.

So I called back again and wanted to talk to the main guy. This was on Friday two weeks ago the women who answered the phone assured me she would have the manager call me on Monday. I still havnt heard from anyone. When the guy showed up the last time I told my daughter to tell him to reschedule. He never called. They raised my rates from 70.00 to 78.00. I have not paid the last bill from over three months ago and will probably have bad credit for it. It is a shame that they can get away with stuff like this.

When I bought my house 3 years ago, I took out a contract with Terminix to spray inside and outside for carpenter ants, since I had an infestation in a wall of my house and in my attic. They only sprayed the inside of my house twice, the second time because I demanded it. After the contract was over, thay continue to come to my house and spray the outside every 3 months, leaving a bill in my mailbox.

I have paid it because they had done the work. I was never home when they'd come. But on 5/10/05, I was home and saw the truck pull up to my house. I watched Noel Gonzalez walk into my backyard. I then watched Noel Gonzalez walk out of my yard one minute later. I thought he had forgotten something he needed to spray my property( 100 X 99). Instead, he put a bill in my mailbox and left in his truck. I called his supervisor, Steve C, immediately and told him to get Noel back to my house to spray if they thought I was going to pay $102.23 for that one minute visit. He said he'd send him right back. Well no one came back and I received another bill for $102.23 in the mail.

I got news for you as an ex Terminix employee. A new contract does not have to be made to renew a contract if the new owner pays the renewal notice regardless of whose name its in. As long as it is paid in a timely manner by due date. The name is usually changed by the following year when due again,,1 year after the new owner moves in. So now you know ... the rest of the story.

I believe I was fired because of my age I am 65 years old. They seem to have a pattern of firing all their older workers. They fired a co-worker of mine about 8 months ago and said I was next.

They did try to fire me in Sept 98. But their reason was shaky and they backed down. Another co-worker they fired was about 70 years old; they didn't fire him, they just took most of his territory away from him so he couldn't make any money and forced him to quit.

In my case they said I turned in a drawing that wasn't accurate. I have been turning them in the same way for 13 years.
