After 20 years of having the sun beating into the living/dining room and our south facing deck too hot to use, we decided to get an electric SunSetter with a wind sensor on it. It is fabulous! We go out often and eat breakfast there and sit and relax. We live in the country, in a hay pasture, and deal with lots of wind--the wind sensor is a life saver--we don't have to worry about it at all. Can't wait for next summer to see the difference in our A/C bills, either. Plus it's such a match in appearance for our house that it looks like it was designed to be there all along.

My unit was an 18 foot awning, motorized and extra length. The installation of the mounting brackets was pretty straightforward. Locating studs was the difficult part. This is a large unit with a weight of about 130 lbs so it should have been a two person installation. I did not have anyone to help so I did it myself. It was difficult but I managed. I also purchased the wind sensor unit which works great so I am pleased with that. Overall, it is a well made unit but it is costly. I looked at others and choose this one because it looked sturdy enough to withstand shore conditions. The material we chose was the heavy woven stripped. With a length this long, it is spliced with heat tape so it will be interesting to see how well these joints hold up in the intense heat of summer.
I do not like the center tube that the covering wraps up on. It is not perfectly straight so it kind of wobbles when extending and contracting. It rubs on the center guide which I don't like. I am not certain if there is an adjustment that can be made. At the moment it is wrapped for the winter with the cover they sent me as a free gift. The clips supplied for the cover are just plastic and I really don't expect them to last. So after spending over $3100.00 on this unit, time will be the test if it was worth the extra dollars to go with SunSetter. I am hoping it will be.

We are extremely pleased with our awning. It allows us to spend more time out on our deck. Had a friend help me install and even though it was heavy it was not difficult to install. Took a couple of hours. Took 4 of us to lift it into place because of the weight (it's a large awning). Sales staff were very helpful when I spoke to them over the phone. Only complaint I have is that there wasn't a local dealer in the north Texas area. It turned out that we didn't need the dealer, but it would have been nice to be able to have the option of an installer and to be able to look at actual samples of materials.

I thought it would be a little wider. The person who measured gave me a spot on the house where it would come to and it is short of that by a foot. My location, my fault, does not help with morning sun. I would take more time determining best location for desired shade before I spend the money again. The automatic function is a must have. Love the ease of operation.

Very professional from sales to installation. The salesman even called to office to see if an ad I had received was a better price than the deals he was familiar with! It wasn't for what we wanted. We love the awning... So easy to use with the remote. Would definitely recommend Sunsetter (and have) to others in our senior community.

Love the awning. The install was and is a fiasco. Parts could have had better placement. They had to come back. The awning slants. The caulking is sloppy. The truck smashed a bottle of touch up paint on the driveway. There's more but you get the idea.

Delivery and installation went very well. Happy with the awning as it eliminates the heat from the sun rays in our family room, thereby keeping the room cooler without turning the air conditioning temperature down. Thank you.

We like the Sunsetter with only one complaint. When the wind blows from the south directly into the Sunsetter with the awning all the way in the valence still blows back and forth making one heck of a noise. I think this could easily be corrected with some sort of soft cover but it is very annoying.

Beautiful and convenient. Does just what I wanted it to do, provide shade. The only down side is that it is very wind sensitive. I have designed a simple wooden brace to provide stability when the SunSetter is fully extended to help eliminate any weight sag.

I am very satisfied with both the service and the product! It covers my deck; door (with window) and kitchen window also. I'm pleased with how it also cuts down glare coming through the windows, thus a cooling effect indoors, too. The awning is attractive and user-friendly. I've been told by my neighbor that parts/molds are made locally, which is another plus. All in all, I'm a happy customer! Thank you!

I have no idea where I heard about your company but I'm sure glad I called. I have an awning on the back of my house and was trying to get hold of that company to put a retractable awning down near our pool. They never returned my call so I called your number. The men were a great help and very nice. They understood just what I was looking for and when they came out for the install, they were professional, great clean up and very good at showing me how to work the awning and lights. We now have shade down near the pool, it's great.

I am happy with the awning; it's beautiful, and provides the coverage and sun blockage I wanted. Installation went very smoothly; installer was terrific! However, I am not as happy with the awning cover I also purchased. The slightest bit of wind causes the ends of the cover to blow up over the cover so that in closing the awning the cover will get jammed if you do not straighten the ends out first. This is frustrating as I have to climb on a ladder to reach both ends. Consequently, I do not use the awning as much as I was hoping to.

Do not think customers should be charged additional for front drop cloth which provides additional shade for the front of the awning. Very satisfied with the retractable awning but extra cost for drop cloth seems like another way company's gouge the consumer.

Although I like the product. I have not yet been able to enjoyed it. According to the CD which is only given once purchase, I did not know that my clearance should be 9 feet from my deck floor. It is only, 8"3 to 8"6. Can't get it installed, had been just sitting on my deck in the corner since I bought it in August. If I can't get someone to professionally installed it less than $500.00, then I will probably sell it on eBay and take a loss. Not satisfied at all.
We apologize for any confusion with the installation requirements for your awning. The minimum mounting height to install your Vista awning is 7ft 6in, so you have plenty of height to install the awning. If installation is not something you think you can do with the help of friends, then we recommend a handyman. We will reach out to you privately to offer our assistance.

My awning experience was okay. The product quality appears to be very good. It was very expensive. I wanted to upgrade just a few weeks later to get an electronic/motor crank and was told it would be another $600-$700. This is not what I was told at time of review and purchase. I felt like I was "intruding" any time I called Bristol Window. I also had to call them out to adjust the awning a few weeks later it was lopsided by a few inches. Bristol was responsive but cranky and on the rude side. The product quality good. I probably am not moving forward at least with that company for my summer home property.

The SunSetter also comes with a feature that will automatically retract it if sudden strong winds come up unexpectedly. Our awning couldn't be any better! It was easy to assemble, had accurate instructions, and works fabulously! We ordered the LED lights for the awning, which were a little stubborn going onto the clips, but we were able to finesse them into place. The transformer for the LED lights did not work. It had a couple of loose screws floating around in it, which we assume came out during shipping. But SunSetter was quick to ship out a new one after running through the troubleshooting with us. And they issued a return label for the defective one, so we didn't need to figure out what to do with it. They were most helpful.

The seam where the awning edge was wrapped around a plastic dowel completely failed after just 3 years! The thread disintegrated and I was left with a row of holes and the canvas flapping in the wind. I'm told this was a manufacturer defect but I was responsible for a prorated amount (still hundreds of dollars!). The fabric is $629 if I purchase it and $395 if the dealer does. If this is truly a manufacturer anomaly and not normal wear and tear then why should I pay anything? I already paid $2300.00 for an 11' awning! If it is expected normal wear and tear then I would have stayed clear of this product. SunSetter, you need to stand by your product! Very disappointed and dissatisfied customer.
We are sorry to hear of a problem with the fabric on your awning. We will reach out to you privately to learn more about the damage and to explain the Manufacturer's Warranty in more detail. The Manufacturer's Warrant is contained in your Owner's Manual and is also available on our website.

Product seems good, customer service ABYSMAL. First, they only sent part of my order (awning but no hood) so I was going to have to pay an installer to come out twice. Then, when I first opened my awning, there were several small holes in the fabric. Ok, I thought, stuff happens and I called to get things resolved. Then the run around started. I was left on hold for over 20 minutes 3 times, disconnected once, and when I called back the 3rd time and got a so-called customer service rep named Nancy and told her how mad I was getting, she hung up on me. I finally got to talk to a caring human and asked for a supervisor. No luck there. They were all busy but she would have one call me back. Their recording says someone will call back in under 3 hours. Apparently they think that means 8 and you better carry your phone everywhere, including the potty and shower, because if you miss their call, you're back in the queue.
No way can you get right through to a real person. You ALWAYS have to leave a message. I wanted the fabric replaced, which they agreed to do and I wanted them to cover the additional cost I was going to incur (about $100) to have someone come back out and replace the defective fabric. One person said I could "install it myself" - hardly. I'm a single 71 year old woman and it took 2 big 30-year olds to do it the first time. Another said it was my option whether to install it or not - so I should spend $2500 to leave it on my garage floor??? After 5 days of this garbage, I called Costco. I got right through, spent 20 minutes on the phone with their rep, and they took it from there. The hood was shipped (actually they now shipped 3 of them), the fabric was shipped, and Costco covered the costs of the additional install.
DON'T BUY DIRECTLY THROUGH SUNSETTER. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL. Costco offers better pricing and exceptional customer service. The people at Sunsetter kept saying how sorry they were, but that was pure lip service as they would do NOTHING to compensate me for my additional expense. I finally said to stop telling me they were sorry because obviously they didn't care. I'LL NEVER BUY THROUGH THEM AGAIN.
We are very sorry to hear about the difficulties you recently experienced with SunSetter Products. We at SunSetter we take great pride in our product quality, our service, and especially in the satisfaction of our customers. We will reach out to you privately to discuss your experience.

I ordered two 5' Easy Shades and one 10' Easy Shade. The 10' Easy Shade was missing one mounting bracket - was surprised that the company said it would take 7-10 business days to get one. Quick mailing, like Amazon Prime, would have been greatly appreciated. The shade cloth, on one of the 5' shades, was attached crooked at the top of the roller - which resulted in an uneven roll up or down. Customer service did direct me to directions on how to take it all apart and re-roll it - which took about an hour.
One of the BEST parts of these shades is the Somfy myLink network option (optional purchase) which allows you to control your shades with iPhone or Android from anywhere, and the myLink system allows you to set a schedule for auto up/down. Controlling shades via iPhone seems to extend the range of the 'remote' and works better than the included Somfy Telis 4 RTS remote. Would have given a 5 if it weren't for the missing part, slow shipping of the part and the manufacturer's non-plumb assembly of one of the shades.

I bought an awning from SunSetter dealer, GOLDEN NEEDLE AWNING, MI, with an installation included in the price. When the professional installers from the dealer came for installation and tried to install it, they mentioned that the floor extension (first floor for hanging the awning) and wall (hollow bricks) was not good enough and was not safe to install the awning.
I requested a refund because I can't let my family and friends sit under the awning knowing it is unsafe. However, the dealer is not returning my money back, mentioning that after three days of contract they don't refund. He is claiming that his installers don't know how to install, but he can still install the awning. He just wants to dump his product on me and get easy money. When I called SunSetter, they said they are not responsible for dealer purchase. My question is why do you advertise their name if you are not responsible. If someone gets injured your good product will get notoriety. How can I get my hard earned money back and blacklist this dealer? Thank you.

We like our awning, and have enjoyed it. However, it doesn't extend quite as easy as your video suggests. The angle of the crank handle has to be just right...and it is easier at different levels. I'm approaching 79, am in good shape, and can extend the awning without much effort. My wife could never do it. Also you indicated a lubricant came with it, but don't seem to have it. Can you resend it? Thanks.
We are happy to hear you are enjoying your Model 1000XT awning. You are correct, the crank wand does have to be at the right angle for smooth operation. Keep your back towards the house and remain under the awning until it's fully open. We are going to mail you the wax lubricant missing from your delivery and a copy of the operating manual for your awning in case you misplaced yours. This small booklet outlines the best way to open and close your awning based on how you use your awning.

I have tried to get a refund, but they say that is impossible because I didn't order direct from the factory. All the literature directs you to call the local distributor. Your advertising is misleading and a deceptive practice at best. I am very unhappy and would like to get a refund. I am thinking about contacting our local tv station that handles consumer complaints and tell them my story and they will do a buyer beware segment. That's how unhappy I am. Tess ** was the local distributor for Las Vegas and she just refuses to take me seriously. I can't find my order # at this time. I would not recommend your product.

Your video is deceptive also regarding one floor homes. Other than that it is wonderful to have shade on the deck.

I am extremely pleased with the entire experience. The sales representative was knowledgeable, helpful but did not pressure me in any way. He made certain that I was satisfied with the proposed plan before he left me. The awning was delivered and installed as promised. The installation was done efficiently and quietly in less than one hour. All debris was removed and a detailed explanation re: the operation of the awning was provided. The SunSetter has allowed me the ability to utilize my deck throughout the day which was previously impossible due to strong sunlight from approximate 9:30-3pm.
I have used my deck more this summer than in the previous 25 yrs I have lived here! The awning adds to the appeal of my home and the electric one that I purchased is operated literally by pushing one button. Also appreciate the covering which protects the awning when not in use. Blends well with the house. I am very happy that I invested in this product and know that my family, friends and I will enjoy it for years to come.

We bought a SunSetter and because we live in New England we only use it from May to mid-October. The other 6 months it's wrapped up and protected from the elements. After a few years we noticed that the seams were separating and we called our local dealer. After inspecting the awning he concluded this was a manufacturer's defect and he called the main office. Much to my surprise, the manager on the other end of the phone admitted that our awning was one of a group that was made with defects. I immediately thought... good for them. They admitted it was defective and they'd make it right. WRONG.
I spoke to one very nice girl who agreed with me that I should get a new awning but a few days later her manager (the coward), made her call me back and say sorry, no, I could buy a new awning at a discounted rate and pay to have it installed. Apparently one of their issues was that my awning was 6 month out of "warranty." If they admitted that it was defective when it came out of the factory, why would that be a factor? I finally got to talk to a "manager" who gave me two different prices to replace it and I thought, why should I reward them for selling me a product that they ADMITTED was defective when they sold it to me. I will not use them again nor could I ever recommend them as they have no sense of the importance of being customer focused. I would have been willing to pay for installation but buy another awning when they sold me a defective one in the first place? I don't think so.

We just installed a new 12 ft. Easyshade. The shade is on the roller crooked. Now we will have to spend a few hours to take down the unit, take it apart, and reinstall the shade. SunSetter has provided a detailed pdf to do this. The option was to return it to SunSetter and wait for a new one to arrive. Suggestion: As soon as you get your Easyshade, pull it out of the tube and look at the shade on the roller. If one end has a spiral of small overlaps and the other does not, it will not roll down level and plumb. If yours is like this, stop right there. Call SunSetter, and arrange for them to send you the return shipping paperwork and send you a new unit. This problem should never get by quality control at the factory.

While Sunsetter has a good product, they have THE worst customer service I have ever experienced. Be forewarned that should anything go wrong with your order, you will have no recourse. I ordered two solar powered window shades from Sunsetter on April 23, 2016 and promptly received a confirmation that my order would be delivered in 2-3 weeks. It is now July 20, 2016, 3 months later and they still have not been delivered. Sunsetter has sent the shades three times and three times, UPS has lost the shades. Each time the shades were lost, I had to wait five days until they confirmed that the shades were really lost and then start the 2-3 week wait again. It is impossible to speak with anyone at Sunsetter beyond the clerk who answers the customer service line and only has pre-written scripts to tell me how sorry they are that I am being inconvenienced.
For the past three days, I have tried to get someone's attention to this matter and have been promised that I would receive a callback multiple times and no one follows up. One would think that management would care that the same shipment has been lost several times and that, as a result, they have a very unhappy customer, but evidently they do not. I had also purchased an awning from Sunsetter last year that was also lost by UPS before it was delivered at 5 weeks. I will not purchase from them again and will strongly recommend that no one else does as well.

We recently had a Sunsetter awning installed over our patio. SunSetter Awnings are based out of MA. They subcontract out the installation. In this case it was Gutter Glove based in the Milwaukee, Wi. area. Gutter Glove came out and took out order, 5 weeks later awning arrives. Tried to call Gutter Glove (the installer) several times and left messages to set up installation day. 3 days later they called me back, set up install 5 days later. Workers came to install awning. This was a roof mount so it needed roof mount brackets. Brackets get installed by bolting thru the shingles to the top of the rafters. Workers did not shim or level brackets causing the awning to bind when deployed. Workers temp fix was to place a block of wood under one end to level swing. This awning came with an additional LED light package which did not work. Had to order new part.
Back to the bracket, installer said they would order an additional bracket to replace the block of wood. Three weeks gone by no bracket, lights still not working. Called Gutter Glove to get an update, several times no call back. Finally get in touch with guy who took my money, he told me, "I know you are unhappy but I can't drop everything and make others unhappy." Told him I was going to call SunSetter. He said, "Do what you gotta do man." Called SunSetter, talked to customer rep. Was told there is nothing they can do but not to renew their services next year. NEXT YEAR! Sunsetter said I could get another sub-contracted to finish the job, but I would have to pay for it. I just want what I paid for that's all. Family and neighbors like the awning but I would not recommend it if this is the kind of customer service one would get after paying out $4000.
We are sorry to hear of your experience with your local awning dealer. We will reach out to you privately to offer our assistance. One point of clarification, SunSetter does not subcontract installation services; we do not offer installation. We sell factory direct to the do-it-yourself homeowner for self-installation. We also have a network of awning dealers that purchase awnings from us for resale to their customers.

Overall, my wife and I are very satisfied with our SunSetter. It provides much-needed shade to our patio and home interior here in South Carolina. The quality & construction is top-notch and it was easy to install. I can't give it a five star rating due to two reasons: the awning was tagged at the wrong end before inserting into the roller track causing the awning to be upside down; also, there were several fasteners missing for the cover. There were only enough fasteners for a ten foot awning, not seventeen feet. (SunSetter sent us the fasteners free of charge.) All is well otherwise. A note to be aware of: we have the manual version which is difficult for my wife to raise & lower due to the weight (cranking in & out is fine). I can handle it with ease, but she struggles. The motorized version would have eliminated that problem... live & learn.

Thank you for understanding and reviewing our complaint, you have been fair and we appreciate it. We have been told that the seams are now done differently, as we stated the fabric is fine and shows no wear, we can just see where the stitches were not doubled or overlapped and came undone in several areas, not all the way down yet. If you know of a local person that might be able to reinforce the seams we would be able to have the old one repaired. Again thanks so much for helping resolve the issue.

After purchasing the awning in 2010 we noticed in 2015 that they found trim on the valance had frayed. We notifying the company of the problem. It was going to be an extra cost ($90 plus shipping) to have the valance replaced therefore we chose to take it down and have it locally sew it. We were informed not to keep it up all year long. Nothing in the instructions gave us this information.
Now it 2016, and again poor quality workmanship. We noticed that the seams were coming apart where they were sewing together in panels, where the Thread had just deteriorated. Once again we notified SunSetter and found out the replacement cost will be $529. As for the fabric itself it is a quality fabric but the workmanship of where it's sewn together needs improvement.
Thank you for the opportunity to make it right for you. The issue you described with the thread used in the woven acrylic fabric in the Awning you purchased in 2009 is unusual. We update processes and technology each year; seams are now laser sealed which allowed us to improve the strength of the fabric. If you would like to reuse your existing fabric, we recommend contacting a local boating shop or tailor that has worked with outdoor or marine fabric and is able to use the appropriate thread.

The next day four of us lifted it up some ladders and into the brackets. Plugged it in. Hit the open button and it worked just like we thought it would. Nothing hard other than the weight of the 20' awning.
After a few days we noticed that one side of the opened awning was lower than the other. The included allen wrench made the adjustment fairly easy. I used a level to be sure it was level, and that was it. We have had it about a month. It goes out every morning to keep the sun off and then in after the sun has gone over the house. A few times we ran it out to sit under it during a light rain. We love our awning. It looks sturdy in design and construction. It was more difficult to install than we expected. We hired a handyman to install it to the soffit under the eave. Due to the rafters under the soffit being installed on a slope the awning when first installed sagged. The contractor installed three 2" x 4" sections of board under the eave to attach and secure the brackets. This solved the problem and it worked flawlessly. We initially planned on installing it ourselves but are glad that we hired someone as it would have been more than we could have handled.
Also, the awning is very heavy (12 ft) and it took 3 persons to lift it to hang on the brackets. We had a very difficult time opening the wind sensor and had to ask someone else to open it. Once we were able to open, it was easily installed. We are very glad that we paid extra for the motorized awning. While it is easy to hand crank it takes quite a lot of cranking to bring in a fully extended awning. Overall we are very happy with the awning and would recommend it to others who are considering such a purchase. It may be helpful to know that we paid $250 for installation if you want to figure that into your cost.

I really love the awning. It is a nice addition to my house. I wanted the awning to block out the sun on my deck a certain time of day. To some degree it does. To avoid the sun completely I have to move my chair around, but it is not a big deal. I do wish it came with curtains to close in the area for privacy, but I cannot complain otherwise.

I bought a new awning from you people. It has wrinkles in the fabric when rolled up. My installer tells me that he can do nothing about them. When I ask Sunsetter about them they indicated that they could be taken out, but I would have to do it. That is not acceptable to me at all. I feel that down the road they will cause problems. I feel that when the awning rolls up it should not have any.
We are disappointed to hear that you are not happy with the SunSetter you purchased from your local awning dealer. As indicated in your Owner’s Manual, the Awning Fabric has a hem along both ends of the material; some wrinkling is a characteristic of the extra thickness along either edge. This wrinkling may be more noticeable when retracted and after prolonged periods when the Awning is not used. Leaving the Awning open in warm weather should minimize the wrinkling over a period of time. If you are seeing something more pronounced such as a wave across the center of the fabric, we recommend that the Awning fabric be centered on both the Roller Bar and the Front Bar to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. As the manufacturer of your SunSetter, we would be more than happy to walk you through the process of adjusting the fabric ever so slightly. There is no need to be concerned, we’re experts at helping owners such as yourself.

One of the shades was shipped with the wrong color holding clips. I bought cream and they shipped brown. I called on Sunday and we told they would ship out the correct clips within 3 business days. I checked the status of the order today, 3 days later, and it said it was "pending". So I called and was told: "Since you are informing us of this need to implement a fast shipment we will make sure the items will ship to you within 3 business days of TODAY!" They refuse to ship overnight or 2 day since "our items can't be shipped air". This is less than a 1 pound package with two small clips and some screws. LOUSY customer service, and they could care less. NEVER again deal with them. There are others making the same products on the internet for less. I will deal with a smaller company that actually cares about their customers. Costco find better companies to support. These people are a joke.

All went well with the installation. My husband is a contractor and has installed many types of awnings and said to buy this or nothing at all. Did have a problem with the side covers. They appear to be for another model of awning. We made it work as we had a party that day and needed it together.

I purchased the manual awning back in March. Quality product and I found it simple to install with help. Took about 2 hours total. It has provided us with the shade and comfort on our deck and built very well, held up in some good winds and rain. What we are not happy with is the opening and closing of this. The video demonstrates this with ease. Not the case. Very difficult especially for my wife, going back and forth to expand and lower the arms seems ridiculous. I don't know why this manual one was not made exactly the way the Motorized one is built. This should be something you should look into. The same type of arms as the Motorized one but with a crank and the option to install motor in the future. I wish that I had spent the extra 500-600 dollars more to purchase the Motorized one but I was being cheap and the video for the manual one is deceiving.
The Model 1000XT awning does require some effort to lift the arms into place. Once the awning is open, (except for extreme weather conditions) it can remain open for the season provided proper steps are taken to avoid rain water from collecting on the fabric. This can be accomplished by lowering one side of the awning enough so that water runs off the awning, rather than pooling on the fabric. For tips on using your awning in the rain please review the Operating Manual that came with your awning. You can also view the Operating Manual online by logging into the Owner's Corner portion of our website. One added note, we do have a manually operated awning that is built just like our motorized awning. It's called the Vista, and a motor can be added to it at a later date.

I recommended to my sister in law this company and in feb 2016 she paid 50% of amount and still waiting. She lives in Cocoplum Island, Coral Gables, Miami, Fl. The agent in Florida said they are getting permit??? That house has 20 years and is to replace the one we have. We will ask that they deliver all the materials. We will install it. They have to figure the amount of the money maybe the agent has to return. I think that the company is ok but we don't want anything to do with the agent. I sent an e-mail to Jonathan at Mass. but didn't receive answer.

Gave size of sliding door to rep. awnings were delivered. Awning is not wide enough to fit the door. The support arms line up exactly with the edge of the door. Obviously I cannot secure the awning to the side of the house if it lines up with the door glass!! Waste of money and time, I will be sure to let everyone I know. I had to make a bracket. Very dissatisfied.
We will reach out to you privately to discuss the best options to overcome the fit issues you describe. There are optional installation methods that can solve the installation problem around the glass door.

I have been a SunSetter customer for many years. I had a 900 XL 15 foot width and it was easy to operate up and down, never had a problem. It was fast to raise. It used a spring in the roller to assist in raising the shade. When you lowered the shade, it tightened the spring, and when you raised it, the spring tension made it very easy to raise. It was like a big window shade that you pulled down and the spring wound it up. The new 1000 XL uses a completely new mechanism. It is more difficult to lower and MUCH more difficult to raise. It is also much slower to lower and raise. The hand crank is extremely slow and difficult to use. Because of high winds, we have to raise the shade often. My wife can't operate the hand crank. It takes a lot of strength to raise the shade.
If I had known that SunSetter changed the lowering and raising mechanism from the spring assisted one to a hand crank, I would not have purchased it. They did offer to exchange it for a motorized one for another $1000.00 or more. I am not sure who would pay return shipping. I would have had to take this old shade off and install the new one. No thanks, installing this one was a chore in itself. I am a dissatisfied customer and would not recommend SunSetter awnings. I will say they have excellent and fast customer service. They just sell a product that doesn't work well.
We appreciate your feedback. Our updated Models 900XT and 1000XT model awnings have been popular with many homeowners. There is no longer the need to add tension to or replace springs over time. Our Motorized awning is by far our most popular awning model that can be operated by anyone with the press of a button. It is a more expensive model, but it's not $1,000 more. We will reach out to you privately with details.

I have purchased through Costco and installed three easy shades, one 10' and two 4' ones. The mechanical design was neat but setting up the remotes was just too tricky. I wonder why they have to design it like this (it stops every 36" if you haven't program it otherwise). The problem was that it stopped rolling down halfway even it was in programming mode. I could only get one of them working satisfactory. And that is a proof I actually did the right way.

I bought my awning over 1 yr ago and I still don't have the LED lights for my awning working! When they installed my awning the lights had a broken wire so he said they would order a replacement. The company that I bought it from have been terrible to work with. I finally called them at the end of the summer (after all summer without my lights) and said "when will I get my lights?" He said "weren't they already installed?" I said no! He said "I paid the man to go and do it and he has the parts and now he don't work for me anymore!" I asked for my money back and he said only I could get the money for the lights because he already paid for the installation and now the man took the product and didn't do the job. So I got angry and said "I need to hang up."
So this spring I called him and he said he will order the part again and come out and install it. He said "I have your broken part on my desk all year so I wouldn't forget you!" Then 3 weeks later he called and had the part. So he came with a very young man to install them. He said he ordered the wrong size. "I will have to re-order them again!" Then the lights came in after a few weeks and then he sent only the young man to install. He didn't have clue what he was doing! (He was very nice though) But he couldn't get it working with help on the phone. So they decided to say the power control box is now bad. So they ordered that. It came to my house. I called them and they said he would send someone over. I asked if it was going to be the young man, he said yes! I said "NO! I want someone who knows what they are doing!" He said I will have to wait till he has someone to come a week or 2!! Just very unhappy!!!
We are very sorry to hear that your installation has not been completed. We will reach out to your place of purchase on your behalf and ask that they contact you to arrange to install the new power control box for your LED Lights.

The 20 ft. awning works great. Since our deck is 24 ft. wide, we would have preferred a 24 ft. awning but you do not offer that size. We also would have liked a side screen but we're told that it needs to be detached each time the awning closes. Because we live on a lake with occasional strong winds and are gone from home often, we leave the awning open. The auto-closure unit works great in these winds but would preclude that side screen.

We are very happy with the well designed and quality of the SunSetter awning. I will say we are very unsatisfied with the front/side panels to block the sun. For myself as the lady it is very hard to take off and put on, not to mention very awkward to fold. You really do not want to leave either one on when folding up your awning because it is very sloppy looking on the home. All this said we love the awing but only the awning.

We love our new SunSetter awning. Works great and the motor is so quiet that you can hardly hear it. It is a quality made product. However we had a bad experience with delivery. It was supposed to come UPS and they were to advise us the day before delivery so that we could meet the delivery truck. That was not the case. It came LTL and was in the warehouse for 5 days before we were contacted. It had an incorrect name on the delivery slip. The tube was badly damaged and broken in half, and the plywood disks at the end were missing. It looked as though it had been dropped. Luckily, after receiving direction to open and examine it, we found that it had survived.
We are happy to hear how much you are enjoying your awning. The process used to deliver your awning to the US/Canadian border deviated a bit from a typical delivery. UPS Freight contracted the delivery of your awning to a local company. That process took a bit of time so your awning stayed put while that was worked out. The "wrong name" on the shipment was the name of the individual that UPS Freight contracted to deliver your awning. It all makes sense in the shipping world, but I'm afraid it is not very customer friendly. We are pleased to know it all worked out.

A neighbor bought a SunSetter many years ago and it was beautiful! I told him how much I liked it; he said if I bought one, he would install it. Finally, many years later, I realized I should have bought this awning years ago! I bought the hand-regulated SunSetter Awning; I wish now I bought the motorized one, being a senior citizen and all! But, needless to say, my neighbor installed the awning without a problem. He anchored it down very well so if a wind came, (unless it is a tornado!), it would not go to Oz! Well, the wind came; my son, visiting from CA, thought we should wind it up, but I said, "No, it is just fine." I was right! Nothing happened, I am happy, and "I love my Sun Setter Awning!" Thank you SunSetter... PS: My deck really looks great now! And the temperature dropped by 15 degrees in my house!

We own a large houseboat and wanted a shade structure on the top deck. Normal boat roof options are around 3x the cost of our Oasis. It has been fantastic and covers the entire width and 1/3 of the length. When we hit larger waves, we do need to hold both ends but it has far exceeded our expectations. We had also purchased both the LED lights and the bulb lighting. We only installed the bulb lights which is perfect. The led lights require the owner to drill and is more labor intensive. However, we are very pleased with this purchase. Thank you!
