    Updated review: March 18, 2026

After posting this review, we received a $500 refund from the company (the amount of the shuttle charge). We appreciate this resolution and have updated our rating accordingly. That said, we think it is important for future customers to be aware of the broader experience. We found many similar reviews describing last-minute shuttle charges introduced at the time of delivery, which was consistent with what we experienced.

    Original Review: March 16, 2026

We hired Solomon & Sons Relocation Services for an interstate move from Florida to Colorado under a binding estimate of about $3,328. Our delivery address was provided during the estimate process and discussed multiple times during the move. On the morning of delivery we were told the truck transporting our belongings was a double-trailer configuration and that it could not access our neighborhood, meaning a shuttle truck would be required at an additional cost of $500 before delivery could occur. At that point there was no real choice because our belongings were already on the truck and delivery was contingent on agreeing to the charge.

The movers eventually arrived at 7:30 PM and were unloading until nearly 10 PM. During the move, the crew indicated that shuttle trucks are “always” used. After reading other reviews, we found many customers describing the same last-minute shuttle charges. We were informed that the truck transporting our belongings was a double-trailer configuration, which the company said could not access our neighborhood and therefore required a shuttle truck. The contract language refers to situations where a semi-trailer cannot reasonably access the destination, but the access issue here arose from the company’s decision to use a double-trailer configuration rather than a standard single trailer. Contractors and builders working in our neighborhood confirmed that double-configuration semi-trailers have accessed the area without issue.

While the contract does mention shuttle service, the likelihood of this charge was never flagged during the estimate process despite the company having our exact address. The issue is not that shuttle service exists as a possible charge, but that customers are notified on the day of delivery when they have little practical ability to refuse it. If you are planning an interstate move, I strongly recommend choosing another company. If you do decide to use Solomon & Sons, protect yourself by getting written confirmation in advance about the truck configuration being used and whether a shuttle is likely at your destination.

Moving is stressful and can be really challenging. I hired Solomon & Sons and worked with Jase, and I couldn’t have been happier. We had several large pieces of furniture that had to be taken out through a window and brought down safely, and the crew handled it perfectly. They were careful with everything and treated our belongings with real care. We did get cheaper quotes from other companies, but we’re genuinely glad we chose the more professional, service-focused option. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

I’d hire them again without hesitation and recommend them to anyone who wants a smooth move.

Although I was satisfied with workers who packed, loaded and delivered my furniture, I found Solomon & Sons to use unfair and deceptive practices in their pricing. They promised a credit upon delivery if the place of delivery could accommodate an 18 wheeler. Although my delivery site could accommodate an 18 wheeler, they came with a smaller truck without verifying prior.

I called this company and spoke to Jason. I gave him the dimensions of my storage unit and photographs of said unit. It should be a simple volume math equation. I accepted the estimate and sent them $1640. When the movers arrived they doubled the amount of the estimate. I was prepared for the final price to be more than the estimate. Even a thousand dollars more but not double. I told them to leave because I was told a vastly different amount in my estimate. They then refused to give me my deposit back. So basically they quote a number, collect your money and then jack up the price and keep $1640 for doing absolutely nothing. Seems like an absolute scam to me. Buyer beware. Please do not fall for it.

It’s not in my nature to write negative reviews, but if my experience helps even one person avoid what I went through, then some good will come of it. Lesson 1: Insist on a thorough walk-through and/or perform a full inventory. Do not rely on photos alone; I submitted comprehensive, multiple-angle photos to the moving coordinator of my small 312 sq. ft. studio apartment in advance — upon arriving for the move, the crew foreman claimed items were not on the list when they were clearly present in the photos; if submission of photos was not considered adequate for an estimate, the coordinator should have indicated as such and I would have insisted on a walk-through.

The crew foreman attempted to raise the estimate by 54% — from $3,600 to $6,300; after a heated back-and-forth (and calls to the coordinator assigned to the move), I still paid $1,400 more than the original estimate; for a senior living on Social Security, this was financially painful and felt exploitative. The breach of professionalism: When cleaning up at the end of the move, I found small chunks of glass on the floor where one of 3 tempered glass-and-metal work desks had been; As we're settling the paperwork, I showed the green-tinted glass chunks to the foreman, clearly indicating they came from the desk—I asked him if he knew of this: “Who packed the desks?”—he said: "I packed them myself. When I get back to the warehouse this afternoon, I'll check the desks." I never heard back.

Then came the most egregious breach of all: “You know, you could’ve bought the desks new for what it’s costing you to move them.” After 20+ years with furniture I love, hearing that from the man who damaged it was rude and beyond unprofessional. Honesty and accountability would have gone a long way, but instead I got dismissal and disrespect.

Lesson 2: Never leave movers unsupervised. The crew consisted of one foreman and two inexperienced trainees; this was essentially a training session conducted on my dime. Boxes were poorly labeled, and it became clear that unless you personally supervise every item packed and have your own system of labeling, you risk chaos at delivery as well as when you unpack the boxes. Final thoughts: A move should mark a hopeful new chapter; instead, mine was stressful, expensive, and deeply disappointing. Solomon & Sons Relocation Services failed me with hidden costs, careless packing, and a blatant lack of professionalism.

I thought moving my awkwardly shaped couch would be impossible, but the team handled it with ease. They maneuvered it through a narrow doorway without even grazing the paint. Every single item arrived safe and sound. I've moved enough times to know that's not always the case, so I was grateful for their skill and attention to detail during the process.

We spoke to S&S to get a quote for our move from FL to CA. Tyler came to our house to see what we would be moving- A 4-bedroom 3-bathroom house + a full 2-car garage. As we walked through the house, he looked in closets, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. & I told him we had items stored under the beds as well. We went out to the garage, & I made sure to point out that we had a large toolbox, refrigerator, shelves full of bins and boxes, lawn care equipment, etc. We asked him to include everything we had in the quote so we could ensure that it was accurate, & he assured us that “the company has such a good rating because they don’t lowball you when they quote a job”.

He also said he was going to include packing services & all boxes and supplies needed for the job, transporting everything in a semi which is shared to reduce the cost, & delivery of our items in CA. After doing his calculations, Tyler gave us a quote of $22,366.00. Solomon & Sons wanted us to sign the contract asap, but we were waiting for details to be finalized with work. By mid-August, we received a call from someone at S&S offering us a $4,000 discount on the cost of our move if we signed the contract by August 31, 2024, which we did. I told our account manager that our last relocation required movers to be at our house for 4 days in order to complete the packing and loading. I was assured that S&S would send extra guys to make sure they were able to complete the work in 2 days. However, when the truck arrived, there were only 4 guys.

The foreman asked my husband to walk him through the house and garage and he commented several times that “you have a lot of stuff”. At this point, I was not concerned because their employee had provided the estimate AFTER coming to our house and observing everything in person. We had also donated several carloads of items, so we had less to move than had been included in the estimate. The contract we signed says “This BINDING estimate is based upon the specific items to be moved and services you requested as listed on the estimate. Your estimated price is guaranteed not to change unless you require additional services or add other items to your inventory.” Once the walk-through was completed, the foreman spent about two hours working on paperwork while the other guys brought in materials and started working.

Once he had completed the paperwork, the foreman told me that because we have “so much stuff”, the move would actually cost over $31,000. (He was claiming that we had 28 bins, 6 suitcases, 1 bicycle, 1 side table, and multiple boxes that were not included on the inventory, all of which the estimator saw when he was in our garage.) We had pointed out a few things we would not be taking during the walk through that morning, so after he removed those items, the price was still over $30,000. This was completely shocking, as our total after the discount was supposed to be $18,366. He then “noticed” that we had received a $4,000 discount, and he applied that to the contract he was insisting I sign. At this point, he said we needed to reduce the space we were using in the truck if we wanted to reduce the cost.

Our only options were to leave a significant amount of our personal belonging behind or pay the higher cost. I then decided to leave behind our 3 full-sized mattresses, one queen mattress & boxspring, our large dining room table with four chairs & bench, a bookshelf, & other various items. The foreman then called his boss and informed him that I was refusing to sign the contract because of the price change, and they offered us another $1,500 discount along with a 25% discount on whatever packing materials they used in excess of what the foreman had included in his updated contract. After the foreman had included this discount and updated our inventory to account for the items we were now leaving behind, my husband signed the contract.

I wanted to refuse to pay more and tell them to leave if the company wouldn’t honor the original price, but my husband had to report to work at the new location so he felt that the deadline didn’t allow a delay. Once everything was completed, we were given a final price of $21,807.70. We have to spend thousands more to replace the mattresses and furniture we left behind. Once our items arrived in California, we were contacted by a local crew that had been contracted to handle the delivery of our goods (NOT S&S, even though they claim they don’t subcontract), & around 2 hours after the crew left, I realized that my engagement ring & my husband’s wedding ring were missing from a locked box we had transported ourselves.

The moving company never handled the lock box or jewelry, but they were obviously free to move around the house while doing their job. After calling the police to file a police report, we called S&S to report the theft as the crew they contracted was responsible. After a lengthy hold, we were told that “they are not responsible for the theft”. We weren’t even given an apology.

If I could give this company negative stars, I would. They practice deceptive estimates. They give an estimate, explain cost of supplies, load the truck, and then tack on thousands of dollars of extra fees. I signed my bill of lading and they added additional fees to it afterwards (gas surcharge, supplies, and additional contents not quoted). Employee claimed I signed it at the first stop, and then there were additional costs at second stop. I signed it at the end of the loading, after both stops were completed, before the truck left.

I was quoted $350 for supplies and charged over $1000. I was quoted at 800 cubic feet, and they tried to claim I had 1700 cubic feet. My storage units (all of them) were only capable of holding 1488 cubic feet. This increase in cost was not disclosed until the truck was fully loaded. There isn't anything you can do once they have loaded the truck. They claim to have all their own employees and no subcontractors or day labor. They had a paid day labor person to unload the truck, with the driver telling me to protect my valuables because he wouldn't vouch for the person! My boxes were broken, dented, and crushed.

China boxes (clearly labeled) were stacked UPSIDE DOWN! Nothing was handled with care. They opened boxes and added items in random fashion. I had yard clippers added to my box holding my toaster oven. Nothing like sharp metal objects added haphazardly into boxes! When I fought the extra charges, they would reduce them by a few hundred and then add another expense. I have had 3 separate deliveries via semi trucks (furniture & appliances). Solomon & Sons claimed they could not access my house by semi. When I stated I had already had deliveries by semi, they claimed I didn't know what a semi was! They had an additional fee for the "shuttle service" to offload the truck into a smaller truck and then deliver. It was an unnecessary step and expense that they tacked on.

Every conversation you have with an employee, they are pushing you to leave a five-star review right now. It starts with the very first phone call. I truly believe their 5 star reviews are all paid for or people that never went back to edit. They told me lie after lie and kept tacking on additional expenses. I spoke with one of the owners. She issued a refund, as she stated her company was in the wrong. Two days later, I recieved a phone request I remove my review from Google. When I did not, they re-charged me for the move. They are trying to buy their way to a 5 star business!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SOLOMON AND SONS!
