I had a great experience with Solomon and Sons from the beginning to the end. They were super polite and did everything as they should. They were very delicate with my things. If I have to do another move, I will definitely call them back.
I went through NewLeaf and they picked Solomon & Sons. With Solomon & Sons, it was really good but NewLeaf never told me that they were an independent broker that would schedule and plan the move. Other than that, Solomon had a good crew. They did a good job and I was very happy with them.
I liked the rep that I talked to and they were cheaper. They were 30% lower than other companies. The move met the timeline they gave and the crew was good. I had furniture in Florida that needed to be in Pennsylvania and they made that happen. They did exactly what they were supposed to do.
We had some issues where they didn't come over to see the apartment. They FaceTimed. They might have made some incorrect assumptions because when they came over to pack everything up, there were things they didn't expect to take and they said they couldn't take them. We were annoyed about that whole thing and just sort of went with it. We called to complain and they discounted us several hundred dollars. They were responsive to that. They delivered on time and the guys that brought it all in and did some unpacking were very nice. They were better than the people that packed it up who could have been a little more careful in the packing. They broke a desk. They should have taken the legs off. But I took pictures and they sent me the form. They were very polite.
I liked Solomon & Sons when I talked to them and I could not have been happier with what they did. This was a move from Florida to Maine and it is not easy to find that kind of operation. I called them on a Friday and they asked if I could be ready the next day. I couldn't so they packed on Monday. I had everything packed up in Miami and it arrived in Maine in six days, which is unheard of. I've never had such a service from a moving company, ever. I would go back to them in a heartbeat.
The movers were very nice and professional. It took forever on moving day but they were very careful. There were very knowledgeable about what we would need, what our expectations were, and how the process would work for the storage. They were a little small but they were hard workers and they did the job. Solomon & Sons is honest and they tell you like it is. They try to get as much information from you as possible as far as quantities and how the packaging gets done. That's the easy part with them.
Everything they did was great. The quote changed a little bit but that was expected because you don't know what's on the other end until you get there. The movers were very good people to work with. I would recommend people in the future if they needed somebody to move for them.
The initial quote and the final bill had a huge difference. The drivers were driving an 18-wheeler so they couldn't park it. So, they had to rent a truck and I had to pay for that as well. But they met the timeline. Solomon & Sons has great customer service and the rep was awesome. I'm not happy about the price, but it happens. The moving crew were fast. They came around noon and they were done by 2:00.
The only thing that worried me, but since I was in need, was that once you made a reservation with Solomon & Sons, they take out $800. You cannot cancel it and get that money back. But they were pleasant when I couldn't find anybody else and the other people were asking me for more money. The money bothered me so much, maybe because of what was happening. But it’s fair. They're not the issue. It’s me. They were very helpful and I was able to do certain things online because I had so much going on. And they took everything for me. When the reps got to Florida, they put everything in the storage and made sure that they fit. So, I appreciate that part. They were going above and beyond.
The moving coordinator was awesome, and the people were professional. Everything was A-plus, and I didn’t have no problem. I will use Solomon & Sons again.
I booked a move from Miami to Denver with this company on 8/26/2022, the entire time they reassured me (and it says so on their website and on consumer affairs) that their movers are employees of the company, not contractors, they show up in uniform, the move would be fast and efficient because they have their own trucks, they are professional movers with custom packaging and ensure the safe and timely arrival of my items. None of this was true. They were 3 days late to pickup date, charged me an "after hours moving fee" even though the movers left my apartment before 5pm, left me no time to properly vacate my apartment before lease ended. Delivery took 24 days to arrive. There was 0 communication from the company during this time, and I was even told to stop requesting an update as to where my items were and when they'd arrive.
Upon arrival, the movers wanted to charge me additional fees because there were cars illegally parked in the loading zone. The driver and assistant only spoke Russian, making communication impossible. The truck was NOT a Solomon and Son's truck, and the 2 movers (not in uniform) informed me they were contractors contacted that same morning to help with the move. They had never heard of solomon and sons before. I witnessed them dropping high value items ($800 piano keyboard and the stand for my $4,500 TV) from their truck onto the ground, they shattered glass furniture ($1,000 TV stand) and every single box was damaged. They refused to unpack/reassemble items they were supposed to unpack until the 2 contractor movers said they would help.
When they were leaving, I did not want to sign ANY documents because of all the damage. The Russian assistant lady told me "do not worry, we have insurance, you will be compensated, sign these papers or else we can not leave." They did not allow me to read through the documents and did not leave me a copy for my records. They did not even have my inventory list for me to review before they left. They forced me to sign incorrect documents for the wrong customer under the condition that I would receive copies later on and everything would be resolved. Even the movers thought it was extremely suspicious that the Russian assistant did not want to leave a copy of the documents with me. After they left and I started unpacking, I realized there were 2 boxes missing with close to $800 worth of possessions.
Upon reviewing my insurance claim, they said they cannot do anything about the missing boxes because “I signed my inventory list on dropoff” except that I did not. You will notice the signature on the attached inventory list IS NOT my signature that is on the pickup side or the bill of landing. I was given an inventory list for a different customer and was told that the truck drivers would not leave until it was signed. I have 0 copies of my documents and the company did absolutely nothing to resolve any of these issues. They are falsely advertising on their website and consumer affairs the services they provide.
They are stealing people's valuable possessions and doing nothing about it. They are forcing people to sign incorrect documents to cover themselves and getting away with charging people thousands of dollars for the worst moving services imaginable. I paid this company $4,800, claimed close to $2,000 in damages, and they are offering me $142 in resolution. After waiting over a month for my delivery to arrive and dealing with the worst movers and customer service of any company I have ever experienced, this is unacceptable. They are lying to consumers and getting away with it. Businesses like this should not be able to stay in operation. Stay away from these movers at all costs. They will not help you if anything goes wrong and will not update you along the way.
The broker did a horrible job of estimating. Once Solomon & Sons got there, they had to reevaluate everything. The estimations were way off. But Solomon & Sons did everything they could to help us. I would use them again.
The rep was very clear. He applied my discount as a military personnel. I was satisfied with that. There was a difference of $35 in the initial quote and ending bill, but it wasn't that much. The representative told me that I did not get a quote for packing materials.
The service was great. However, I paid $100 to move a toolbox but they dropped the toolbox. That was what irritated me. The tools were all over the place. Fortunately, the drawers were not damaged.
The pickup was fantastic. They were prompt and everybody was really very polite. But there was a good amount of fees associated when they picked up. They charged $500 more than what the quote was. That wasn't great, but the movers were fantastic. Everybody's very personable so it was a good experience.
Solomon & Sons was very professional. I felt like they knew what they were doing every step of the way and they weren't just agreeing with me to get my money. Also, the moving crew was experienced and they were fantastic. They knew how to wrap things and they paid attention to me when I said that something was valuable and made sure that it was treated properly. They took things in the correct order and packed the truck perfectly.
The moving crew broke a marble side table and nothing was really done about that. Also, there's a hole in my hot tub now from them unloading it. They asked for a jack so I gave them a jack and they used it and put an entire hole in my hot tub. But other than that, the actual movers were amazing and they helped on both ends.
We chose Solomon & Sons because their prices were competitive, they were local, and they communicated very well. The movers worked, hustled, and helped in any way they could. My wife was closing up some boxes on her own and they offered to help. Also, they were very careful. Nothing was broken and everything was here. Everything went fantastic with the move. They loaded one day, kept the truck in their warehouse, and brought it up the next day and delivered.
I did a search online for local movers and I asked for estimates. I needed to submit to my employer multiple estimates. I looked at 10 companies and Solomon & Sons gave the most reasonable estimate for my long distance move. They came over to my house and their estimate was quite accurate. In the end, the difference that I needed to pay was minimal.
The move was great and everything was as promised. The movers came on time and they packed what wasn't packed. They loaded things very efficiently. They were very courteous, efficient, and very good with my things. They were very hardworking and at the same time and considerate of my property and of me. They began with the date that I requested then they said that my things would be there in two to three weeks. That was what happened. They called me at the time and they delivered. I would encourage others to contact Solomon & Sons.
Solomon & Sons’ customer service was excellent all the way around, from the beginning to the end. I had to be in storage for a few months and the move worked out fine and everything that I wanted when it came to the time line was perfect.
The Solomon & Sons team was very easy to communicate with so it was always easy to get ahold of someone and ask questions. But good communication doesn’t make up for a poor job getting done. The job is to manage and maintain my stuff. As a customer, you put the trust in the company to get your stuff from point A to point B efficiently and they lost two of my boxes, which is a major issue. Some of the items have significant sentimental value that I'll never get back so, it's tough to deal with that. The claims process doesn't replace what's been mishandled and lost. I had the smallest possible shipment, which is 500 cubic square feet, to do a long-distance move. So, it wasn't even that much stuff to keep track of compared to some of the other moves that they do. I'm very disappointed in that.
The actual charges that were agreed upon upfront remained the same. But there were some additional fees like the long carry fee and the shuttle fee, which is 400 bucks. The shuttle fee that was used on the pick-up wasn't necessary but I didn't feel like arguing it. The guy had a large truck and he didn't feel he could park it on the street. It was in the middle of downtown San Diego, so I understood where he was coming from. But I see almost every weekend large trucks parked there and they just put their cones up. My girlfriend moved out two days later with a different moving company and they put their truck right on the street, cones up. And they didn't have to shuttle her furniture to the larger truck.
Solomon's reps were very nice over the phone and I liked the price they gave me. Things went quite smoothly from there. They came on the 23rd and they were great on the pickup. Then it's 3 to 14 business days after my first available date, which still hasn't occurred, so we're still within the timeframe. I've been calling them this week to find out the status of my move and their responsiveness could be better. I called on Monday and they said they would get back to me but they didn't. Yesterday, they were closed because it's a Jewish holiday and I did not expect that. I then called this morning to find out and they said they will call me this afternoon.
I spoke with a Solomon & Sons representative and they sent me a quote for a move from Florida to Texas. I had lots of questions and they were awesome. The crew that came was on time and they were quick. The only thing is Solomon & Sons is a bit expensive compared to other movers. Other than that, everything was good.
The cost was a little bit higher compared to what was in the quote. It was close to $800 to $1,000 higher. They didn't tell us it might change when they came to pick up the items. We had some problems with the drop-off, too. They broke some of our household items. They damaged a crib, a shoe shelf, a bookshelf and a chair. But overall, the service was good. They were good in follow-up and were prompt in checking. They're very good for in-state. Out of state, the only problem was because of their contract companies that actually move the products. But Keisha was really helpful. She was the one who acted as a bridge and started everything out.
It's been great with Solomon & Sons. I have one suggestion though. The packing was not scheduled. Initially, there was a miscommunication there. It read that it was packed by owner, but eventually, it so happened that the movers had to pack it. They probably did not have time to mark what had gone into which box. It would have been nice if someone would have marked it as to what had gone and described it. Otherwise, everything was perfect.
Everything went as planned. Solomon & Sons has great service and everything was simple. They are very affordable too. They had the three-payment, which was great. They were very quick to answer and give me the information that I needed. They were very clear on everything. The rep was straight to the point. I didn't trust and know the company very well, but they made it comfortable. The moving day was good. They came and did it very quickly. They wasted no time. They were very polite and neat.
I liked the team that picked up our stuff. They were great. However, there were three things that were broken. I asked Solomon & Sons and was told that I can file a claim and deal with it myself. But I understand moving across the country is a big deal, so all in all, it was a good experience.
We went through a broker, New Leaf Moving Group, and we did not know they were a broker so we got stuck with Solomon & Sons. The moving costs were double what we were originally quoted. The packing was done helter-skelter. They stayed at our house. They came at 8 o'clock in the morning on the second day and stayed until midnight. That loaded up one of their vehicles. The next day, at 3 o'clock, another vehicle came to pick up what they called the overflow. From everything we gathered, the original team knew that all our stuff would not fit in their truck. They told us they had made arrangements to get a second team and it was refused. Yet, when the second team came, they said no such thing ever happened. They didn't know about it until 10 o'clock at night at the point in time where the first team was staying until midnight.
There are a lot of broken items. I've got a ceramic lamp where the legs are broken off. It was ineffective packing materials. I've got pictures where it wasn't wrapped in any paper. It was stuck between a couple of pillows, but the feet weren’t protected at all. I had a set of chimes that were not wrapped in any way, shape, or form. They were stuck in a box and the chimes were rubbing up against the wood sign. I wouldn't hang that sign anymore. It was a decorator sign and there is no way to repair it. I have a lot of pictures that were wrapped in something and put in boxes. One of them was not. If there was bubble wrap on the front of it, there was nothing on the back of it. The glass was cracked on the front. This was a personal item painted by a family member, and it's a custom framing job. That is not inexpensive repair because it needs to be done by a professional.
There were a lot of things that they couldn't assemble or assembled incorrectly. I am dealing with someone in the Florida office to try and see about getting resolution on assembling some of the items that were not assembled. That doesn't include all the broken items. We have not even unpacked a third of the boxes. I just contacted them again this morning. I want to give them a chance. I have been dealing with this woman that appears to be trying to help me. But the delivery mover appeared to try and help me, but he ghosted me. This was not an optimal move. I was a Navy wife, and I moved a lot. This is absolutely the worst move I have ever had.
They did a good job wrapping things up and hauling things. But I didn’t like that they damaged the screen on the Peloton bike. We called them on it, and then they fessed up to it. We worked with Keisha, and she got this stuff approved that they were going to take care of it. The approval came fairly quick. They paid for the repairs. But they weren't forthright when that happened. The second part that I did not like was the split delivery. We ended up having a few more items and we had two separate delivery dates about 12 days apart. A lot of the stuff that we needed was in the second one, aka the washer and dryer. I didn’t like how that was handled. People should get them to come prior to pick up to see exactly how much stuff that you have. In that way, it’s just one delivery and not two deliveries like we ended up having.
The person that I dealt with was very, very friendly. He showed up to the house and explained their customer service-oriented approach. He made a very light kind of pricing quote. My wife and I decided that it was the right quote for us and then went from there. But after we packed everything, the price ended up being double the amount of what the original quote was. The original quote was 4,500 bucks and then the guy got to my new place and said it was 7,400.
I called back Solomon & Sons the next day and they said, “Oh, well, you packed a couple of extra things and all this.” I said, “But I told the guy that.” But I still ended up stuck in the situation. I didn't want to leave the guy there and he was not going to leave my new home until I paid him. So I ended up paying. But the movers were great. Solomon & Sons were very, very professional.
I got three quotes, and I liked Solomon & Sons' the best. It was fair. They also came to my home and helped me with everything, like where I wanted to put the bed at, they put the bed there. Solomon & Sons is a great company, and I would recommend them to anybody else that needs it.
