I was in Indianapolis, IN. In Indiana, they have hard water. You’re going to have to do something if you want to use the city water. So we tried several things. We bought a home with a RainSoft system and right after we moved in, they came out and talked to us about upgrading the system. They had a water softener. And then we looked around to upgrade it and stumbled across a RainSoft rep and it started back then. That was around ’93, 20 years ago. They did a demonstration and answered the question. We moved to Alabama in ’98 which doesn’t have bad water but RainSoft water is still better so we continued to utilize it here. We’ve been here for 15 years. It’s great! I recommend it.

I have had the RainSoft unit since 12 years ago, when I built my house. I purchased a new one in the last 3 or 4 months. Over the last 12 years since I’ve had the original system, they’ve always been available when I needed service or questions. The sales representatives know the products as well as the installers.

One star is too much. This company is terrible to deal with. They recently came to fix my rainsoft water softener. The service person came and said "I'll have it fixed in ten min." Two hours later (and me late for work) the softener still didn't work, the serviceman said he didn't have the part with him and would have to return. So I called to make another appointment. The first question they asked was how I was going to pay the bill and that they accepted credit cards. I told them that this was a warranty repair on my rainsoft unit, there should be no bill. They then told me that the service call was not covered, only the parts. The service call was 75 dollars and they would have to charge me again for the second service call. At that point I told them I refused to pay for a second call. Why should I pay twice because their service tech could not fix it the first time? Their answer was, "well he did put a lot of parts on the unit".

So they expect me to pay for their employees incompetence? Well now I'm receiving harassing calls at all times of the day and even on holidays. They have been everything from demanding a credit card number to threats of "coming to my home to collect". I've even been accused of tampering with the unit! It's like I'm dealing with the local bully..not a local business. Let me remind you this is over a 75 dollar bill.... Although now they claim it's almost 200 to cover the cost of the parts... parts that are covered under Rainsoft's lifetime warranty. Now I'm really confused... Bottom line is that they don't care about the customer, all they care about is taking your money. Take your business to Culligan of Meadville or even C.A.Curtze in Erie (They do sell softeners to the general public as well as service them). Rainsoft could seemingly care less about all this. I've spoke to them several times as well. I will however say when the unit worked it worked well.

We had a RainSoft reverse osmosis system that’s 20 plus years old. We got ours with the original test unit. The sales reps were knowledgeable and answered our questions. But installation did not go real smooth. We ended up getting lots of equipment. We got their system and an ultraviolet light. They broke two of the ultraviolet lights in installation. The water doesn’t taste as good as my old system - I taste salt. I mentioned it to them when they were here the third time but I was under the impression that they’d be back in 2 weeks to test the water and no one has called to schedule an appointment. I asked them about testing the water and they said they don’t do that - you have to send it off somewhere to have your water tested. Now, my experience when we got a water softener, they sent the water off and tested it.

When Mark came out to sell the unit to us, he explained all these different things. Then the RainSoft guys that came out and put it in were very good if we had questions. And of course, I always ask and they explained everything. I was pleased with that and am very happy with the way they installed it. I just have a few questions now because I want them to make sure that it’s really working right because my son doesn’t think it’s working right. Once in a while, the water’s gray. Mark said to take five gallons out of the hot water tank every other day for a while and we did that a couple of times. And I’ve been so busy. So I want to get a hold of him and have him come and check it before I do anything drastic or say anything drastic.

Nine years ago I got my RainSoft. I got it because my water was already staining the toilet bowl and the sink. It was disgusting. We have a septic tank and the water is from wells. Then the top part of it (the heart of the matter and what makes them tick) died and so I got the updated version that instead of flushing every day, it flushes out the X amount of gallons (I think it’s 77 gallons). The guy took a picture of it and brought it down to me. I’m in a cast from my toes to my knee and has been this way since September 25th. He was really nice when he came. I signed all the papers, and then he says, “I took a picture so you’d know what I did.”

Fantastic company!!! They warranty, guaranty. They come here once a year and make sure everything is working well. They test my water all the time. I had a problem 4 or 5 years after I got the system. Something wasn’t doing what it was normally doing and they ended up putting a second fixture in the garage. The water system has a huge well that you put the salt in. Now I have two wells because it wasn’t taking something out of the water that they discovered. I didn’t even notice the difference. Maybe it was iron. And they charged me zero…. installed it for nothing. I recommended RainSoft to my neighbors but they got a less expensive unit… I can’t say that they’re 100% happy with their choice.

They were good, courteous, and came out to take care of the problem but the problem still existed. As far as their products, I’ve got a reverse osmosis, and it seems to be working fine. I had probably got bad luck on the 1st year that I bought the softener. But I’ve had no problems with the service. They come out here and worked on it many, many times. It was just inconvenient for me because it seemed like they were out here every month. And in five years, probably 40% of the time, I didn’t have soft water because it didn’t seem to be producing it and I didn’t realize it. Overall, I’m happy with the company and the service. We had just moved into the house and the RainSoft sales rep Alfie contacted us about setting up a demonstration in our home. He was a very good salesman and we pretty much knew we had hard water here anyway and we hadn’t yet started to investigate other water softener places. And so, we decided to sign up after Alfie’s demonstration and purchased a water softener system. The installation team ended up arriving quite a bit after we had thought they were coming. It was like 8 o’clock at night when they were finished. They were very good. It’s just it got to be a long day and later than we had thought. That was the only drawback.

Since having the system installed, I can tell the difference with the water in just the feeling on my skin. I’m using up the products that I already have before using the products that were left with us. They had three boxes of products left with us. The only thing I noticed today was I emptied the dishwasher and there were some little specks on the glasses - I was expecting that since having this product that I’d have no water spots and no residue on glasses. And this was the first I had noticed anything so I don’t know what to attribute that to.

I’d say until I saw the specks on the glasses, I was pleased with RainSoft. If that continues, I’ll probably call the troubleshooting number just to find out what’s up because it certainly isn’t an inexpensive product, but it seemed like it’s the top of the line for water softeners.

They were the ones that did the legwork to try and get our business, so that was good…no complaints.

Their service was relatively good: the representative was polite and not overly pushy and did understand the product and knew exactly what he was talking about. There was not stumbling over his words and unsure of what he was doing. I did have to email to stop the salesman to get out of his sales pitch; I was just like, “Tell me how much it’s going to cost,” because they try and do that whole method of trying to get you to see their advantage of cost savings. The installer actually knew what he was doing and there weren’t any problems with any “Oh, sorry, but you got this kind of problem and it’s going to be another day.” So it was a fairly good experience.

They said that once it was installed, they were going to be back in a week to check it because it looks more cloudy than it should be. So I think the system has to be tweaked a little bit, but I haven’t heard from anybody yet.

My husband goes overseas for this country and RainSoft can't keep their word and repair something they made??? This is disgusting. We have been more than patient even emailing pics of the system and such. One tech says the system is set up backwards (by the other tech). This is ridiculous. We are out $500 and still have horrible water. RainSoft, you should be ashamed.

We have two agencies (RainSoft and Culligan) here in Waterloo, Iowa, Black Hawk County. I am a nurse and our water needs that. We’ve had RainSoft and this was an upgrade, a replacement for the reverse osmosis under the sink. Interaction with the sales representative was excellent. His name was Chris and it was his first visit to us. We have our service annually, and if you look in the records, we’ve been a long time customer. He did everything. I would absolutely give him a 5! And the thing of it was, a year from now, we wouldn’t even be able to buy the filters. He didn’t have to tell us that, but he said because everything’s been changed and I certainly can understand it because of the medical arena; he said it wouldn’t even be available. He could have just gone ahead because I’d already purchased the filters from last year. I don’t have any problems.

My dad purchased RainSoft in his house when I lived with him, and I was at Home Depot and they were doing a water test thing - that’s how I heard about it. The water is much better since having it installed. There’s not really too much taste to it which is nice… It’s like bottled water to me. The sales representative was very knowledgeable and a nice guy. The person that came and installed it was very informative also. He had a water softener in his house and was telling me about it. I’ve seen in my house the difference based on what he told me. I can see what he was saying was true. It was a good experience and they give high-quality products!

The local office of RainSoft called and apologized for my experience with the RainSoft representative out of the central Atlanta office. He said he would follow up with the Atlanta office and make sure it did not happen again. He also said he would discuss with the Atlanta office the use of the tiny sample water vile used in the Home Depot mailer.. I hope this has the attention of the RainSoft office in Atlanta and Home Depot. The local RainSoft representative in Pensacola is very good.

I sent in a water sample to Home Depot and was contacted by RainSoft dealer. He insisted they had to have a larger sample than that which was sent for analysis. I arranged a meeting at 4 pm and he came out and tested the water but gave me no written test results. Since it was a new well, he said he could not really tell what the particulate matter would be after the well settled down, but he would not come test it later and insisted on selling me a system that I really did not want. He called someone who claimed he would give me a special deal on a "demonstration system from a show in West Virginia - (Only $5995). This is the highest pressure and rudest salesperson I have ever had contact with. I told him three times that I had to leave and he would not let me go until I signed a contract. I will cancel the contract tomorrow. This is a poor way to do business and a poor reflection on Home Depot.

When I was in Home Depot, they had offered different suggestions as far as home improvement and RainSoft happened to be one of the suggestions. I purchased the water softener and air purification system. I really can’t tell any difference. If I run the water long enough, then yeah, I can. But as far as just the way that they made it sound or the way that they made it seem that it was just a difference between night and day, like you’re going to use less soap and all this, I don’t see that. I almost feel like it’s a scam. I was actually going to call them up and have them come out.

The other thing too is that thing is close to $9000. It just seems like an astronomical amount of money. I understand that when they first came out with those polymer beads that it will be expensive. But over time, it’s technology perfected. Things like that are just a thing of the past. I’m not impressed at this time. They really kind of pushed the reverse osmosis water, the RO water, as far as it being better for the body and everything else. I was expecting so much more. I don’t really think they hit the nail on the head when they were selling it.

I’d say that it’s a very nice product. It cleans the water so I would recommend it to anybody. I live in Ventura County and they do not have anybody out here who maintains them. They said that they only have the services probably every 3 years. I talked to the people in Victorville and that’s where I had purchased one time a few years back some parts.

I wanted to get a water softener for the house and I’m trying to remember how RainSoft came to my attention. It may have been when I was at Home Depot and then I set up a consultation for the salesman to show up at the house. What happened was we were in the middle of moving and literally, boxes were being unpacked and brought in and the salesman walked straight into the house to the garage. That kind of bothered my wife. But the salesman was cordial. He was nice. I was in a rush so I just immediately wanted to see, “Okay, what type of deal can you do for me?” And then I was able to convince my wife that it’s probably the best thing for us to do because it was the whole house water filtration system and softening system. And then I just immediately got him to commit and brought him a check right there.

The only other thing was that he never presented me with a water test. But it may have been because I was just so rushed and wanted to get things out of the way, get things done. He said he might be able to deliver the system the next day which for me was an incentive because we just moved in. I’d like to start with some clean, fresh water immediately. I did get a call from their customer service people and I said I never got the water sample. I don’t know what’s the water hardness or what other chemicals are in this water. They sent someone out who did do that and then they served that.

I’m very happy with the system and if I would recommend any of this to a friend, I would tell them that they need to take a little bit of time and not rush it the way I did. But the fact that we can drink from any faucet without having to go through the filter system like in the refrigerator is great.

Then we bought the water softener out of concern for the quality of our water. I have had excellent service with RainSoft over the years and there was just one technician that I was very displeased with and he’s not here anymore. I think their technicians are non-presumptuous. Then he brought up the upgrade. It was pricey but it wasn’t a hard sell thing. It was a logistic. I think you need to do this and you don’t have to do it. You could repair what you have and yes, it was very logical, very factual, unpretentious. I think their product speaks for itself.

Since it’s just an upgrade, I didn’t see any difference. But when I get to my shower doors to clean them, I haven’t noticed except my water pressure on my reverse osmosis is better but other than that it was more of testing that he did with my water so unless somebody tested it, I wouldn’t necessarily notice a difference.

Edna came out and she was absolutely wonderful. She showed me what I was drinking and bathing, and showed me the difference. They sold me and the next day they came out and put the unit in. Once they figured out where the drain was within the basement which it was actually underneath the crawlspace in my mom’s closet. These are old units so once they found out where everything was it was fine. It took them a while to figure out but everybody was pleasant. It was a very good experience. The water tastes better. The water I drink now I know is so much better for me and in the long run it’s cheaper than buying plastic bottles with water. Everything I cook and clean is with the purified water and my dog doesn’t like it so I’m giving her the soft water for her water. I guess it gives her some bubbles or something. But I enjoy drinking it and I enjoy cooking with it.

It was a wonderful experience. They did a very professional job and her personality was just perfect. I’m not saying they’re all perfect and not all humans but everything I’ve had done to the condo since I’ve been here, I’ve had nothing but very, very good experiences. I’ve already got two people that are interested and so I need to find three more they said. The two people I asked about it, they are definitely interested in a purified water system. I said, “You don’t even have to get it. You just have them come out and test it.” They go, “No, I don’t want to know.” I’m like, “Okay. If my water is like this your water is like this because it’s coming from the same area because it’s in a complex.” But you know what really sold me on it? It was when she took my wet cloth with some soap and the purified water on it and cleaned two pieces of my stainless steel appliances. It was just amazing the difference in the water. She just put soap in the water, nothing else.

By far a hundred percent difference in the water. First of all, you get clear water now. They were on the other end of town so I guess that went for 30 something years because we’ve been here 39 years. I tried to treat the water myself at first and realized I wouldn’t be able to do it and so people recommended Rainsoft. I think it was where I was trying to buy my chemical equipment and stuff like that.

Interaction with the Rainsoft people was fine. They use somebody different all the time. I mean they’re a big enough company. People come and go. Some of them are the same ones that come but I get along fine with them. I have to ask them to check the hardness and everything every time. They just perform a routine check right out the door and usually I’ve got unusually acid water here and the pH has to be brought a little bit above neutral to keep from getting the blue stains and so they usually don’t want to take it above that and it requires an extra chemical and then they have to put another chemical, go back to the office, get this other chemical and put it in. Then it has to be washed out or cleaned out every 3-6 months or something like that or else it’ll stop the system up and then the water will get start running slow. So it’s just a constant thing but I guess everybody in this neighborhood has the same water so I guess we’re all dealing with it.

I could tell a difference in the water since the system was installed. It’s nice but the pressure goes down. It’s the pump. The well pump gets on and off and it gets a little low and the shower then gets a little disturbing but you can’t have everything I guess. It’s something you have to put up with. Well the Rainsoft people mean well but it’s just a tough job to do. It’s hard to keep the water right all the time.

We recently purchased a house, so I was interested to see and they offered us gift cards. They gave me 0 explanation as to what type of products I was going to be offered to purchase and minimal information. I wasn't that concerned and they said it would only take an hour, so why not. The salesperson was nice enough at first and relatable. He gave a good presentation but things quickly turned sour when we told him we could not afford it. He put pressure on us that made us uncomfortable. I was a salesperson for years and I really DO NOT like salespeople that apply pressure tactics. It is a huge turn off.

Fact is we could not afford the $8,000 system that they were trying to offer us, and after looking at reviews on here people purchased the same thing for far less, which makes me very skeptical. I will be interested in buying a water filter system in a few years once things settle down and you can bet I will not be buying it from this company. The company will do better with at least providing some information to the consumer beforehand because the salesperson acted like I wasted his time, but mine was wasted - I could have told them off the bat I wasn't interested. It TOOK THREE HOURS of my time. Furthermore they told me I would get two gift cards. I only got one. Clean water is important. It's a good product but unfortunately in this economy it is more a luxury. Not sure how they expect someone to make a $8,000 decision in 10 minutes.

After my initial review, we were contacted, and each issue was settled fairly, and I am very happy with the way things were handled.

    Original Review: Sept. 26, 2013

We have honestly never had so many issues with a company before this. They make promises that they really have no intentions of fulfilling. They promise solar covers to protect the unit, they promise a free cruise, they promise two years' worth of soap products. They made several promises to get us to sign, but once they have the financing, they are done. We have had to make no less than three calls about each issue, and have only gotten a few of those issues settled. They complain about how far away we live, and "we don't have anyone out in your area for a few days". Then they never show up. I hate having to call them and call them over and over and ask "Um...hey, what about that box of soap you promised?" Or "Oh, um, I thought you guys were supposed to come back out and retest the water". Each time they act like we are asking them to take our dog to the vet. For the money we spent, I expect professional service. But, I just feel like we are asking them for favors.

So the guy came over, gave us the demonstration which was very informative and insightful and we decided to go for it. I could tell a difference in the water since it was installed. The experience with the sales rep was very good and the installation guy was very good as well. I’m very pleased with everything that’s happening here. I’m just curious as to when the things that we were promised are going to arrive. I was supposed to be getting like a laundry detergent, some dish soap and bar soap and some glass cleaner and that hasn’t shown up yet. They said that they had someone coming by last week because they were going to be in the area but no one has shown up. But I would say the whole experience with Rainsoft was life-changing.

Purchased system about July/August of 2011 from RainSoft dealer, Atlantic Water Products in Mays Landing, NJ. When they installed the system, the drinking water spout didn't work right and continued to smell like rotten eggs for several months. I called and left a message that I needed service to come look at the problem. No call back. A month later, called again, another voice mail - no call back. Hired another company to fix the issue and spent another $150 for them to service and fix the problem. They took out the a 4th filter that is supposed to put good stuff back into your drinking water. After a year or so, an alarm would go off on the filter saying it is time for service. I called and they told me when the service tech comes out, they will show me how to fix it.

Reluctantly, I finally got an appointment with Atlantic Water Products and they came out, changed 2 filters in the kitchen. I had them turn the alarm completely off since they won't give you the code to do so to force you to have them service the filter. At this time, they told me they didn't bring the bulb that kills germs in the air vent and it will be another $100 to bring one out and replace it. I told them about the 4th water filter and they want to charge me another $199 just for the filter that never worked in the first place. To make matters worse, the company I hired to fix the drinking water issue told me they can put the same system in for less than $2000 when I was charged almost $5,000. Sure they throw in some shampoo and hand cleaner that you will use a few times until you realize that it is not good quality like they say when you buy the system. I would not buy from them again and I will not recommend them for sales or service.

We purchased the house filtration and water softener from Rainsoft because we were getting such terrible water and it was one of the welcome package things. They come out and test your water and that sort of thing. We’ve noticed a little difference in our water and the guy who installed it said it would about 3 weeks, but then it hasn’t been that long yet. I think it’ll be better. I perceive it with the way the water feels. When you wash your hands, it feels a lot better. It seems to taste better too.

The sales representative was very good and very thorough. We were pleased with him. And when they came to install, they were very professional and did what they had to do and didn’t litter. They did it, got it done and left. So it was a good experience all the way around.

I had been talking for a long time about a water softener. We are on a well and there’s a lot of calcium and iron in the water. No bad taste but calcium and it’s a real hard time keeping everything clean with that calcium. So I got fed up and I heard about RainSoft from my niece. She has something from RainSoft but she doesn’t have a water softener. She has some kind of a special filter for iron, for something else. So she gave me the name. And then I called them and they came. I called another company, I asked around but I decided I better go with RainSoft.

The salesman was very polite and when I called him back and talked about the price, back and forth, he seemed reasonable. I called him back and I talked to him again about the price, and then two days later or something like that the guy came to install it. I told the salesman, “You better tell him because I wanted like the outside line for the garden, for the two watering systems for outside. I wanted this to remain the way it was before.” So they have to install a separate piping. And I told the salesman. “Oh, don’t worry about it. He’s going to have all the things with him.”

The guy who was here installing, the plumber, he wanted to put the pipe one way and I said, “I don’t like this thing. You do it like this.” He said, “Fine.” When he came, he didn’t have enough so he went to the store. He disappeared. He came back and he did the other thing nicely, no problem.

We originally had a RainSoft system installed in our house two years ago or so, and then we moved. So we had the system brought here, and then just this past week we got the iron filter and upgraded our system. We heard of them through Home Depot when we were in there. We gave a water sample and then they came to our house. At the time, we were living in the city and we were just starting to have a family and had a new baby. We saw their water test and by seeing their water test, we just immediately knew we needed a water system, but I honestly didn’t even look at other systems at that time, but we were happy with them anyway.

The first experience, everything was fine. They said like your ice cubes would be clear and it really wasn’t. And I called them back and they did retest and they said it was fine or whatever, but it was kind of like I thought, “Ha, I wonder if I just paid $1,000 on a system and if it really is working or not.” Then this last time, we called them and had the water system moved. And when I bought the system originally, I knew we would be moving. They had told me that they would move the system for free one time or whatnot and then they kind of went back a little bit on that, but they ended up giving me the half price of moving it because it wasn’t included in the contract or something.

But anyway, that was still fine. But then they installed the water system and did the test. But they failed to mention to me that this water system was not equipped for a house on raw water which is coming from city water. And I thought that as installers or whatnot, you could have just said, “Just so you know, the system can’t keep up with your house. It’s not even really going to do anything.” I felt a little bit hesitant about that and our water here was awful. Everything was turning yellow and it was just the worst water you could ever imagine. So when I called them, I ended up calling several other companies and had them all come out and test our water and they all recommended the iron filter and a bigger system and whatnot. So I called RainSoft back, which of course their systems are the most expensive, just to see what they would do because otherwise, I was stuck with a $1,000 system and I figured I’d get a whole other system for my house.

I ended up choosing RainSoft again just because of their lifetime warranties on everything that the price ended up maybe not so bad because we do have such bad water that they’ll probably be out often to replace something and stuff. So this time, the people I dealt with this time wasn’t selling, coming out and testing again and calling in. He was much, much better. I very much appreciated him. Overall, I can say RainSoft has good customer service and was very friendly to work with.

We had a rep show up at our home and offered to do a water test on our tap water for free. I told him that we actually drank bottled water instead of the city tap water. He said that he would test the tap water, the bottled water, and our tap water after treatment with the RainSoft filtration. I was game but totally surprised at the results. I knew the RainSoft system was one of the best, and was not surprised that the filtration of my tap water resulted in a drinkable source free of contaminants. What shocked me was that my unfiltered tap water was less contaminated than the BOTTLED water. I had been throwing money away on bottled water when my tap water was actually cleaner water!!!

Anyway, back to the point, we had the whole house system installed, including the kitchen sink, under counter double filtered, fountain head added to the sink. We also had it installed so our outside faucets were filtered, and what a difference it made in my garden!!! My plants love it as much as we do. My husband said he had to get used to his skin feeling soft after rinsing instead of the usual dry left behind "soap scale" feel. The product is great, the rep was not only able to answer all our questions, but was entertains also. The installation crew was knowledgeable, efficient, and had the system installed in less time than I thought it would take. After installation, they went over the system programming with us until we were comfortable with the system. I highly recommend this company, and have done so numerous times.

When I bought this house, we had well water. First, I had Culligan come in here and I had them for about three months; they weren’t working. I saw this ad for Rainsoft in Kalamazoo. I guy called me - I didn’t call him actually - and he wanted to test my water. I said, “Okay fine. Come on over.” He tested it and said, “You know, you need a water softener.” I said, “I know that. I have Culligan here.” He said he didn’t care because they had Rainsoft. “Well, Rick, I’ll try you. What do I do with this?” I said. He said, “Well, we’ll disconnect it and we’ll put it in.”

This was quite a few years ago. I had Rainsoft from like, say, 1989. I had one and it got old and busted so I got another one. It worked fine, up until a couple of weeks ago and I had filters there. The guy in Kalamazoo just went out of business or something and I couldn’t get a hold of anybody there. I called Rainsoft but when they gave me this guy, Simply Water, he’s way on the other side of the state. And I said, “Is he going to come?” “Yeah, he’ll come here.”

What happened was, I had a filter and I was changing the filter and it hit the top of my gizmo on my Rainsoft. I don’t know. It just destroyed it and I had it for while. So I said, “Okay, I’ll call this guy up.” He came over and he looked at it. It was a choice between another water conditioner or hooking up to city water. Well, I’m from Chicago. I’ll hook up the city water, I’ll do that, but it’s not easy over here.

First of all, it costs $6,000 to tap into the city water. Plus, we have to get a contractor to go from the street all the way past on your property, and I’ve got a nice property. It looks like a baseball field. Then they’re going to mess up my furniture. I said, “It’s actually going to cost me almost $11,000. I’ll just get one for another for $3,000." So I had Simply Water put it in. And this one here, I’m very satisfied. This one here is guaranteed for life. If I ever have any problem, all I do is call them up and they come over and fix it.

My interaction with them was beautiful. I mean, the people were magnificent. Rick, who owned Simply Water, came out. He looked at it. I told him, “We’ll get it. I’ll write you a check. Just put it in.” So the kid that came over here, he was just tremendous. And he put the old one out and he said, “We’ll take that and we’ll put this one in.” And he put it in and he said, “You’ll be happy with it.”

Number one, he said, “Why do you have these filters here?” “I don’t know. The other guy told me I needed it.” He said, “You don’t need that.” So he took that out of there with no charge. And he hooked everything up. I do have a filter there to take off the color of the water. And that works fine. I’ve been getting these filters and they cost me like $30 apiece. And the guy said, “Are you crazy? I’d give you six filters that cost $7 apiece.” I said, “You’re kidding me.”

So I got the six filters with it. Those six filters are going to last me two years for crying out loud. So he put it in. It was just TREMENDOUS! I can’t tell you how good they were! I mean, they’re terrific! And they come from way on the other side of the state. This is AMAZING.

He said, “We go all of Michigan, some parts in Indiana, and some parts of Ohio.” I said, “You’re kidding me.” He said, “No.” And I think it’s just terrific. So now, I got the new one in and I’m very happy with it. It cost me $3000 instead of $12,000. And I got good water. You could drink my water. I said, “Oh, my god! This is terrific!”

I got good water but I needed a water softener. When my water softener was busted, we couldn’t use it and you could tell the difference even when you took a shower. You can get no soap. Now, you go shampoo with a little spot in your hand and you get all kinds of lather. I think RainSoft and Simply Water is terrific. I would never have anything bad said against them. Nothing.

They were really good and the funny part about it was when I called, I talked to the girl and she said, “Well, let me see their appointment here.” That time, I say, was on a Monday that I called them. “We were not going to be in that area until a week from today or maybe even longer.” “Oh, I can’t wait that long.” She said, “Wait a minute. Give me your number. I’ll call you back.” She called me back about an hour later and she said, “How about Thursday?” I said, “This Thursday?” She said, “Yeah. I can’t give you a definite time but he should be there between 1:00 and 3:00 because he’s got another job. They don’t know how long it takes.” “That’s fine. Wonderful.”

He came in. He was here at 3 o’ clock. He was done about quarter to 6:00 because he had to take that whole filter out, reconnect pipes for me, which he didn’t even charge me for. He didn’t have to do that and I’m very satisfied with them really. They were terrific! I’m very, very happy with them!

There’s a lot of difference between this one and the one I had. I was going to town one day and was talking about it soon after we got it and my wife asked me, “Is it possible for water to be too soft?” I said, “No. And I’d notice that too. It’s just that this is getting more of the impurities out than the one before it did.” And she said, “Oh really.” I said, “Yeah.” We both really like it.

It’s a little noisier than the last one was and that’s about the only thing. The other one, we couldn’t hear it recycling when the water softener is regenerating, but this was noisy. We could hear it upstairs. Other than that, it’s fine. But it’s early in the morning and we’re using that up by then. My wife’s working and I’m in bed. Overall, it’s very good. I’d recommend it to anybody.

We had the RainSoft water conditioner and air purifier installed. With the air, I couldn’t tell a difference. The water, I can tell some differences. When you wash your hands in them, you still feel like you have soap on your hands even though you don’t. And as far as taste, when I make my tea, they told me that I didn’t need to use as many teabags, and so I use less. And it tasted better that way.

Sales and installation went okay. When the guy came out, he came out three days later. I don’t know what his title was but when he came out, there were a few things that I guess the guy who installed it had not done properly. He needed to fix it. They were courteous and nice. The reason I’m hesitating so much is because we really cannot afford it. And when we called about a week after having it installed, they said that they only have three days to cancel. So we’re trying to go through a process to get rid of it just because we can’t afford it. My husband signed it but they never left us the contract. That’s why I’m hesitant. I like the product. I just would’ve only bought it if I had the cash to pay for it. I would never have taken out a loan on a budget.

So we went ahead and purchased the system. Interaction with them was incredibly smooth. There’s a big difference in the quality of the water in the house in general, not just drinking water but obviously showers and everything. It’s night and day difference. I’m a tough sell as far as putting a 5 or putting the top of the line on anything. I guess I’ll give them a 5.

The only thing was this last time we had an appointment like several weeks in advance and at the last minute they had to cancel it. Then we had to wait another 2 or 3 weeks longer to get the stuff done. We were really needing to get this taken care of. We were just kind of disappointed that we had to be cancelled. I don't know why they had to cancel in that day. They usually have always been very prompt. They call us and let us know when they're going to be here, and all of a sudden they had to cancel that day. Jim was waiting here and we're getting ready to go on vacation. We’re just like, "Oh God! The sales guy was really good. He informed us a lot. He had a lot of good examples that he showed us. He answered all our questions very good. The installation guy was good. They had one problem and that was due to I guess the builders that put the pipe in. They have a certain type of pipe they use when they plumb the little plumbs that are for the softener. It’s a piping. Anyway the piping is a little off, different from what they use, so he didn’t have the correct fitting. So he had to call the plumbing company that installed this. But otherwise, the RainSoft team was really good. Very professional.

Our water is very hard here in Georgetown and it tends to mess up your appliances. It can have problems with your plumbing pipes and suffer water spots and all that. We noticed the water spots are gone off the glasses. For the most part, the water seems silky like or something when you’re showering or you’re washing your hands. It’s probably not leaving that hardness on your skin, so it’s a little better now.

We had just moved to Castle Rock and we're trying to figure out whether we had hard water or not. So we didn't know if we should get ourselves a water softener. We were at, I believe, either Home Depot or Lowe’s. They had something there where you can get somebody to come out here for free and test your water and tell you if you have hard water or not. So that's what we did and we didn't realize that it was going to be a sales pitch. We were just expecting somebody to come out here and take 20 minutes and test the water and tell us what grade our water was, but we got the Rain Soft sales pitch for a good 2 hours I guess and then we purchased it. We weren't too happy about the sales pitch. It's a bit annoying I guess to have somebody come in and give the whole sales pitch and demonstration and try to sell you a product that you are not really inquiring about. But it's a fantastic system and we're very happy with it.

I would say based on the quality of the water itself and the system (and it's a very good system), I would give it a 5. The water makes a big difference. But I would give maybe a 2 just on how things were dealt with. It's so very sneaky, like sneak somebody in here to give them a little infomercial and the payment plan wasn't explained to us as well as it could have been. My husband had a few other issues regarding just the way things were pitched and sold. Kind of half truth told to try to convince you to buy the product, but that was just it and it was great.

My wife saw this thing in Home Depot. We've got pretty good water where we're at, but it spots the cars when she washes them. She just has to dry them and take the spot off. And they said it would take the spots away. That's a big thing with her so she decided to try it. We purchased the water softener.

It was still spotted. The bath tub is still left like a film. She said "Oh, you won't get that film in there and all this. It still has a little bit of a film." I called them about it and they didn't want to come out. They found this guy, and I asked one about this spot and he just kind of blew it off. So I called them and they kind of bugged me off at the office. I went to Home Depot because we finance it through them and Home Depot called and a guy named Wayne called them and they got him a little upset. He finally got them to change some stuff and they said "Well, we'll come out and check it." They came 3 days after that, and it was because of my contractor said it was the 8th. And when I went there at Home Depot it was on the 8th. He told me he extended out until he got everything straight. The guy said, “Well, we're not gonna pull up for that so he turned out and they checked it.”

And they waited till really late in the evening on the 12th. They came out and did his job and made some adjustments. He said "I don't think it's going to make any difference but let's just try it." And it didn't make any difference so I called them and said, “It's not any different, just come and get it.” I told “If Mr. ** talks to you, you just tell him to pick it up.” He kind of got snotty that he said, "Home Depot can just eat it." Yeah, I got mad. So I called back the installation and told them all and another manager took the call. The guy did not answer right away and I called them again. They said we never dialed. The guy picked it up on Friday, the 12th and they didn't want to issue a credit. I've been calling their manager and I call them every day. I called back again and I talked to a supervisor at Rain Soft. Yesterday he told me by mistake because I also had to complain to their corporate office. And he said, “They don't want to have any problems in there.” I said, “I've talked to the press and if they don't give me credit, I'll file this. Then they'll take it off and they'll do an investigation, and they'll find out what the problem is.” He said, “We'll look into it and we'll make sure that you get your credit.”

I called him this morning and asked him about it again. They still haven't issued the credit. I just got off the phone with him and I said I'm calling the credit. And while I was on the phone with the lady related with the credit cards, she said nothing is pending. Then she started laughing and she said, "Imagine that. Look at what popped up." The guy must have issued the credit.

My son has a Rain Soft system in his house and it works for him. It just didn't work for me. It's not really the product. It's the people running this office down here. Other than that, I'd never do business from anybody from that company.

Working with the people at RainSoft went well. There's one thing I don't agree with, that which I intentionally disconnected. In the system, the water softener is outside, and this system re-softens or filters the water the second time, but in the process, it takes 4 gallons of water to do it. We get 1 gallon of water that's usable and 3 gallons go down the drain. And so, I disconnected it. I cannot see why I'm throwing away 3 gallons of water. I don't care what it does. We need that water, and it goes down the drain, so I disconnected it.

I don't recommend it. The way the water comes out of there, there's nothing in it. The nutrients are all gone. The minerals are all gone. Yeah, it might taste good, but forget it. It's not worth it. But the product, other than that and the service, was fine.

The salesman for Rain Soft showed us the entire system and showed us the water - how bad it really is and stuff. You can see the salt, except from the water, coming out. All you had to do is fill a glass of water and look at it, and you can see that stuff is not fit to drink. It's definitely not fit for human consumption. I don't even like to give it to my animals. Anyway, we had little trouble getting the paperwork all done. Finally he got it all straightened out and we got it in the end.

There was one person who came out for the installation team. He installed the system and it was right before the 4th of July weekend. Physically he was here. Mentally he was already gone on vacation, and he didn't do the installation correctly. There were pieces that he left out and as a result we wound up with our garage getting flooded twice and our whole side yard was flooded because he didn't do his job properly. So needless to say, I was not a happy camper and I told them to come out and get the system and get it out of here. If that is what's going to happen and flood my garage every time I turn around, I don't need it. So they finally made arrangements to take care of all of that and take care of other things so, it worked out. They sent their troubleshooter out and this guy knew what he was doing. He recognized what the problem was right away. The initial installer didn't put some O-rings in. We just turned the main off and he put the O-rings in and everything was fine after that. I knew that it was going to cost me money to get them fixed but they took care of that too.

Definitely there is a difference in the water. You take a shower and even when you're done, you still feel like you've got that soap on you that you always get from softened water. I would recommend them to other people, but I would also recommend at the same time that they check and find out who the installer is going to be. I have the installer's name and I would recommend that if he shows up to do the installation, call him and tell him forget it. It's frustrating but at the same time they took care of some other problems that I had.

We purchased the water softener and cooling filter from Rainsoft. Our old Rainsoft water softener broke. We needed to call service. Well, it was all one and the same. The repair guy was with the sales representative. It went okay. I mean when you're in a situation where I can fix this for X amount of dollars but it's only guaranteed for 30 days or we can put in a new system for lifetime... I guess one of the selling points was the fact that there was no interest financing for two years available.

We definitely noticed a difference within a day or so. The new water softener was doing a much more efficient job than the old one. We had had a good experience with the company previously with the office out of Waterloo. We have reason enough to just go with the same one we've been used to using. They were efficient and know their product.

But I just wanted also to let you know the one thing that I was unhappy about. It's the service representative. When he was done switching out all the old equipment, he transferred some of the salt from the old brine tank to the new brine tank. But then later after he had left, we noticed that he had dumped probably about 10-15 lbs of salt on the curb. That was so indiscreet.

We're new home owners and we just got a Rainsoft advertisement through Home Depot and so we just kind of took them up on the offer and went from there. We bought the water filtering system. Culligan was in the house already and it was actually quite amazing when they did the water testing and how poor it was and he brought some bottled water and we really liked the taste of it. He tested that. We liked the numbers and so we weren't actually researching it. It kind of came to us. We thought our water was fine. It was all tested before we moved in. They came by within all the legal standards. Actually all of us drink a whole lot more water now because we have the Culligan and then I have Brita from where we lived at - at the other place.

We really liked the sales representative. He was very accommodating to our schedule. My husband was here for the installation and he had no complaints. And the installation man actually got here earlier than he implicated which helped out the family. The tester came. I don't know if he was supposed to but he didn't test the nitrates and so then we called back and we had it scheduled. They came today and I wasn't home. I feel like he was really that anxious. Like our other nitrates were within range but the sales representative told us the numbers weren't where they want it down to. Our TDS's were going on 300. That was in Culligan I believe and now it's down to like 24. It's still a little higher than what they wanted or anticipated. I'm very interested in the nitrate level. It was fixed before they put in the system so I'm interested in them.

I would definitely recommend them. Both my husband and I will probably give them a five. I can't definitely speak for him but taking the recommendation part, he wants his work tested. He even wants to have Rainsoft at work. We're from Southern Missouri and we had our private well and it was absolutely fantastic and then we moved up here... I'm glad I have the Rainsoft and I know the water is healthier.

The water tasted like crap. Then I saw the Rainsoft water conditioning system at Home Depot and the presentation of the saleswoman and the price wasn't so crazy that I went ahead and bought it. The appointment setter was courteous and they scheduled a time that worked. They were able to do it quickly. Everything went very well and there's a very big difference in the water. The experience with Rainsoft was good.

There was a free sample in Home Depot to test the water. So I sent the bottle in and RainSoft came down. They had called me and said that my water wasn't up to par, so they came down and did a demonstration. They were very knowledgeable. I purchased the whole house water system, and then they did come down to check my air conditioner. The installers were excellent, and I see a big difference in my water after having the system installed.
