I got a water filtration and treatment system from Rainsoft. It was very pleasant dealing with Rainsoft and their sales reps. The installer cleaned up after. It was great. I had no problems whatsoever. The water is definitely softer now and I'm using less soap and I'm hoping it's going to cut down on my soap usage.

I first heard about RainSoft through Home Depot. I chose them over another company because they were the most readily available to come in and install everything. The sales rep was fun, nice, pretty courteous and professional. We got the EC4 and it also has the filter. The installation team installed some of it and they were really nice. We're still waiting for it to finish installing but that’s partly our fault because we were busy. We finished signing the papers today, and they're supposed to come out later this afternoon. Overall, it was very simple and easy.

We've had the Rainsoft water treatment system for a long time. They call us to update our system. We could either replace the computer on top or buy the whole new system but because my resin is guaranteed for life, all I did was have them put a new computer system on the top. The installation team was good. AHS reps call when they figure I need filters and they send them to me. So everything is fine.

Basically, they were straightforward, to-the-point and gave us a good price.

It was just nothing but Murphy’s Law from the very beginning... The rep who came to our house said the installers would be here on a Sunday so I waited and waited, and finally called him. He had forgotten to turn in the papers so I had to have it done Monday. He also got my telephone number wrong. So they bothered my daughter at work instead of calling me and the installers came out but without the rock salt container so then the woman in the office told me the installers would be here at one o’clock the next day but didn’t get here till two. The guy showed me his work sheet and she had put on at 1-2.

Now the people that were here to do the work were outstanding - they did a really good job. So it was just the representative and the people in the upper offices that I had a lot of problems with. With the experience I had with everything that went on, I'm definitely dissatisfied.

We have hard water and so we have always been looking for something to improve the drinking water quality. I just happened to be at Home Depot and saw the RainSoft ad and had their filters installed. They were very accommodating. They worked through a space in the basement so that everything fit in very nicely. We had two RainSoft programs installed. One was for just drinking water and we immediately noticed a change in the quality of the water. And about four months later, we had the larger unit installed so that we have quality water in the bathrooms, the toilets and the showers. It’s only been about a month so I'm not sure we've noticed a big change, but they assure us it's coming. It was very professional and the pricing was appropriate.

The RainSoft system is awesome. We've actually already referred it to a couple of other people. We struggled for years trying to figure out what the problem was. We had a plumber and they were going back and forth many times, and we just didn't get any answers. We stepped out with a leap of faith for this process, and honestly within 12 hours, we were just totally amazed. It's expensive but well worth the money we paid so far. We've only had it a short time but we're very, very happy.

I was shopping at Home Depot and somebody asked me a couple of questions and filled out a card. They said I might be eligible for a $10 gift certificate from Home Depot. A few weeks later, they called me and just wanted to come out. They said if I let them come out on short notice, they’d give me two gift cards. My appointment setter was pretty courteous and scheduled a time that worked for me. It was just the weekend and they had someone come out the same day they called me. They just had an opening and I happen to not be doing anything. The sales representative was nice. For the installation guys, I had two different installation times because they didn't finish it the first day. Everyone was great.

I was supposed to do the whole house system, but I got the filtered water for now. It pretty much tastes like bottled water. I wish that they would come back out after they installed it and run their little test again and prove to you that what you just purchased is better because I’m like, “How do I really even know?” But overall, I’m happy with everything. A RainSoft salesman showed up at my door. It was made by appointment, but I didn't know that it's what I was getting into so it was slightly deceptive. I knew it was a water test and I was clear there was going to be a pitch, but he wasn't completely upfront but I don't blame the guy. You got to get in the door. The installation team was great. The water is definitely improved. I got the complete package with the air filtration system as well, and that's not in yet and it's been a little while. In fact, I called the local RainSoft people two days ago and asked them and he said the order was put in on the 4th, which I don't remember when everything else got installed, but I think it was before that. There is some type of delay from when they installed the water stuff to when they actually ordered the filter for the A/C system. I've already got the bill so I would like for the whole system to be going and it's a little frustrating.

My parents had a RainSoft system. I liked their water but I could never afford it. I hated the water in Melbourne when we moved back here. We've been in this house for 17 years and I just can't take the smell of the water anymore. We had a little extra money so I made the appointment. My husband didn't want to but I told him we could just listen to what they had to say. When he saw all the crap in our water, he agreed to do it. Within a week we could see the difference in the water. And we have an old water heater that's 17 years old, but we know we can see the difference in the water.

The shower is clear glass and you can see the difference there too. I'm glad I got a new water system and I can use less soap now. It takes a while to get used to it. I would give them 5 stars except they didn't bring the 72 bars of oatmeal soap they promised us because we paid cash. We've talked to four different people about it and we still don't have it. He called me whenever he wanted me to buy the system. But now after I got the system, he don’t want to return my phone calls. The damn system is going to come out, whether they like it or not. They won't come out and do the system like they told me they would. My husband goes out and does their job, and then they get paid for it?

I've had frozen water this year and I've never had that. They promised me that it would not. I said, “That’s my main concern.” And he told me it would not freeze. Well, the low water, it froze three days. I was here without water for three days. I had to go everywhere else to take my bath. I work for a living. And you think I was happy about it? I called those people and big deal! You bought the system. It’s your baby.

I didn't like that attitude. I do not want the system. I want the system taken out. And the system would have been taken out if they would have answered their freakin’ phone. And the guy that’s here now, he said he has the same issue. Every time he tries to call the office, they never answer the phone. So hello, people who work for them are even having the issue. And then when you cook, my water was so hard and you have that white foamy crap. He told me when the system was in there, you wouldn't have that. I can't get them to take it out. Because they said my three days was up. Well, yeah. They don't answer the damn phone.

We enjoy our RainSoft water softener. We first heard about it as a promotional at Lowe’s Home and Garden and we were more motivated by the $20 gift card. We had a nice salesman, and we knew we needed it. However, the first installers made a sloppy job of the installation. We were very, very unhappy and they had to come out two more times to correct that error. One of their errors is something that nobody has offered to correct, so we live with it unfortunately. The first installers installed the filtering system very incorrectly and didn't give us enough information. They failed to tell us how to get our ice back up to speed. The follow up installers did a good job.

It would be nice if they just spent more time and explain things. If somebody could inform the consumer of what they’re really getting and the differences in the water flow and other things, they wouldn't have dissatisfied customers. They need to inform before they perform. I had to learn how to add the salt through trial and error. I've read the manual three times and made a chart on how much salt to use and when to add it. Nobody wants to try things out on a $6000 unit. Also, they should not put the customer in the hands of subcontractors that are inexperienced.

It made us decide to install it. The water is cleaner and we can drink water from the faucet which we don't do before. It was very informative and the tests were good.

We got the whole system from RainSoft. Everything was okay and fine. Right now we're having a little problem. When the water thing is on, the water pressure goes up and down. I don't know if it's normal or not. The gentleman said that he would give us a call in a week and then somebody can take it out. One thing I will recommend is the person who installed it. She was fantastic people-person, she answered every question; in fact, she shocked me when she showed up because I figured some guy would show up. She was absolutely superb. She did everything the way it was supposed to be done, took me through and showed me all the different things about it. I didn't like the fact that they didn't keep me informed of certain things like when they would be here.

We heard of Rainsoft through the program they have with Home Depot where they give the envelope to check your water for free and then they come through the backdoor. What was interesting is on the card, when they gave me the envelope to send the card, I said, "I do not want to be approached for any water systems or anything like that." Then they said 'We would like to test your water because it was found to be very hard." When he came out and did the testing, we came to grips with the reality of the need for the product. That's why we went ahead and bought the water softener system. And we can see a difference in the water.

My shower door which is glass no longer stains. I used to have white ashy ankles from the soap scum stain on my ankle. Now it clears right up. My wife likes the way her hair feels. We like the fact that we can drink the water right out of the sink and it doesn't smell. He did a test on the carpet with just pure water and I said after a while, "Let me try this," and sure enough, it cleaned the spot. We have a very heavy area in the hallway that I could never get cleaned even when I have the cleaners come out to do it. When he did that small little test and just let the water seep through a couple of seconds and then blot it and it cleaned it, I was embarrassed. But it showed that the water does make a big difference. We're ecstatic. We have recommended to friends to have it done as well especially for people that have skin allergies.

Originally, it was a misunderstanding but I would rate my updated experience as a 5. They followed up good and they did everything we needed. They were excellent, they followed through on what they said, and they get 100% satisfaction from me.

    Original Review: Feb. 1, 2014

We just moved into a new house and we were going to go to another company. The sales guy came over and we liked the RainSoft system. I was angry with the experience because we paid for a $6,000 system and they put it in a $4,000. When I had caught it, I looked at the paperwork and it didn't match up. The water softener we had installed was filling all the way up with water. So they came back last week and put the right system in, the biggest system they would pay for.

I don't really appreciate him not calling me and let me know that they put in the wrong system, for the stuff that I didn't pay. You can tell the difference but it's just the communication of their customer service ain't too good. They're supposed to be sending me a check from my veteran's check for $150 for signing up and getting the system and they haven't sent that out. It's supposed to be in the mail today so I don't know. My wife was very unhappy with them not letting us know.

We have had a Rainsoft unit for almost twenty years. It has moved with us from house to house as I have asthma and my husband has been toxic poisoned so it was imperative that we kept it top notch...The Rainsoft office in Wichita closed down, apparently our files wound up in the hands of a scam artist named **. When I called RainSoft they told me it is not their problem as he has not done them any harm... As a consumer, I am the one who must file charges. We had Cheney Door come out and service it and it is still not up to snuff... We have new computer board, new filters, and reverse osmosis... and we still have floaties in the water. My husband still tastes something in the water. We are out 1400.00 to the scam artist and another 400.00 to Cheney Door and I am having to go to court to try and get the scam artist caught and stopped.

I hope to get some of my money back but I feel that is up to "fat chance". I am very disappointed in how Rainsoft company handled this when I first reported it back in mid 2013. My unit is still not fixed and Cheney Door is willing to come out again for $$$ and for the money I am out I could have bought a whole new unit.... It might not be your problem because you are out of state but the scam artist has taken your company name down the toilet. He has scammed people all over the area here and I think those in your office should do something!!!!!! We are close to getting an indictment against Mr. ** as there are cases popping up everywhere. May once he kills the reputation of Rainsoft then it will be your problem...

I purchased both the RainSoft water softener and the air filtration system. I purchased a new home and the water was extremely hard. I wanted to get some sort of filtration system in place because we are on the mud district. I literally Googled water filtration systems and Home Depot popped out. I saw that they did their consultation, they tested the water and everything. I actually worked at a college so I took a sample of my water to our lab and tested it there. I compared to the test that they performed and everything wind up pretty good. They were very professional and so I decided to go with RainSoft.

When they first got there, they introduced themselves right away and they started to explain everything with us. They wanted to look for the water disconnect valve and so we had a hard time locating it on the outside. Before he even entered the house and before he went into each room he would ask if it's okay because he might and then explained to me why he needed to go in there because the pipes sometimes run up this wall and down this wall and since this is where the bathroom is, it might be right on the wall below it, "So if you don't mind, can I go see what's below it."

It's very thorough. As they were installing things they were explaining it and say this is the softener, this is the carbon filter, and when they did the under the sink reverse osmosis filtration system, they were telling me all about that. As they continue to go, it was just amazing. He made the comment about our ice maker. He said, "Well your ice maker, just take the first 3 loads and dump them out." I went, "We don't have our ice maker hooked up because we don't have the right adapter." He looked and he was like "I have an extra one of those. Let me hook that up for you." So he hooked up our ice maker, off of his extra part that he had and made sure it worked and didn't leak. And I was like, "Holy crap, you guys are awesome!"

I was impressed. They're very nice, very genuine, very down-to-earth, very friendly and I'd have them back over at my house anytime. I had a great experience with them. As for the water, I thought the change was going to be subtle but it's actually been rather drastic. I cleaned the house, and after I didn't have any water spots. That kind of impressed. When you wash your hands, your skin feels softer but there's an OBVIOUS difference.

We're unhappy with RainSoft. We've told them about having a leak with the reverse osmosis and they have yet to get back to us. I don't think we should be chasing after people when we have notified already that there is a technical issue with a less than one-week-old product. I'm not loving it. The reps could do a better job in terms of follow-up care. We noticed that the reverse osmosis unit at the counter is dripping the day after it was installed. It's been a week since it's been installed. It shouldn't be our job to follow-up.

If we call them it's leaking, we need and there should be a result. The product is great but the sales guy needs to brush up on his skills. I have a bit of an issue with him as he never called to say that we had been approved and when the installation would be and the service guy just showed up. The rep assumed that I would be ready for the installation. But other than that, we're happy with the water.

Response from RainSoft Water Treatment Systems

Thank you for reaching out to us. We have contacted your installing dealer and the following resolution was reached. On January 17, a service technician was sent to the home to look into the concerns of the reverse osmosis drinking water system emitting a noise, and leaking whenever water is drawn from the drinking water faucet. The system was found to be in backwash mode, and the small amount of water left in the faucet neck was dripping into the sink. The technician explained this to the homeowner. The customer's Home Depot gift cards were also delivered.

The system installation had been scheduled for 10:00am, but there was a delay in the customer's financing coming through...which was approved two hours after the scheduled installation. We do apologize for the timing of this.

The guy that installed the air purifier was a different guy because the other one didn't show up. It was all right. I didn't get the paperwork as the installer accidentally picked up the paperwork, laid it on my file that he was going to give me and took it with him. The water feels and tastes a whole lot better. I already recommended it to a friend. I like it. It's good and the water is great. Even the soap is great. I love the scented lotion and the shampoo and the oatmeal soap. The one thing that doesn't work is the dishwashing soap. Other than that, everything else was fine.

We got the RainSoft water softener and can tell there is a difference in the water since. I feel softer. I'm using less detergent and shampoo. I'm not even using conditioner in my hair and I have to. My hair is very coarse and very curly. Used to be that I had to use conditioner to get all the knots out of my hair. And I use a dime size of shampoo now and that's all I use for my hair. We're using a lot less laundry soap. I'm still using Downy even though they said we didn't need to but I like the smell of Downy. The guy that installed it, Joe, was great. He explained everything really clearly and well and did a great job. Jason was our salesperson and he did a great job, too. We're very pleased with both of them. I've talked to my niece and she's thinking about it. I would recommend Joe to go to any of my friends that are interested because he explained everything clearly at least two or three times, answered all our questions, made sure everything was running properly before he left. Overall, it was a great experience.

He thought the water here was hard. He took it into Home Depot to be tested. And of course, they confirmed it and we had a representative come out and do the presentation. And that pretty much sealed the deal with RainSoft. Installation went very well too. Very professional and very accommodating as to where we needed the unit to be placed. They were very good.

The water feels differently. When you wash your hands and you have that smooth soap on your hands when you're lathering, well that feeling stays. It always has that softness. And of course, the odor is gone and the taste is just so noticeably different. You can also taste it in coffee. Clothing, less laundry detergent. All the positive things we've experienced.

We got the water softener from RainSoft. I first heard about it from my daughter. She and her husband had a sales rep come out and then we asked the sales rep, called him, and asked him to come out and he did a demo. The principle and the concept sound logical and so we went ahead and purchased one as well. There is a difference in the water system in the house but I don't feel it so much. It's not like the demonstration. When the sales rep came in and demonstrated it, you know there was clear distinction. What I'm getting in terms of product out of the faucets and sinks around the house doesn't feel anything like that.

The installation didn't go so well. They didn't show up when they said they were going to. It took multiple inquiries and telephone calls to include the business owner in the local area. They came out and installed it incorrectly. Somehow they tapped in just the hot water line. They had to come back and completely redo the system, bypassing what was in the house. They probably could have done a little better job figuring out ahead of time what they needed to do. They were winging it. They came in and ran a drain line through an exterior wall from the garage to the interior of the house through a utility room and did not complete the project. I got a hole with a line stuck through it on the inside of the house. It doesn't look very professional. The guy that was working in there had something in his pocket and scratched the wall along that side as he was maneuvering between the washing machine and where he needed to get to install this drain line. They were supposed to send someone back out here to do the dry wall in the garage, to repair the damage that they caused for cutting into the wall and that hasn't happened. From an installation perspective, timing, quality workmanship and overall satisfaction is marginal.

I expected over the life of this product to see clear benefit. I was a bit surprised after it was installed to find out about all the cost, the operation, and sustainment cost over the period of time. The sales rep didn't volunteer that information. Had I understood the system in more detail, I probably could have figured out that there is a cost of operations and sustainment cost. The maintenance every year the filter and cleaning... That's another couple of $100 a year that I'm going to have to invest in this product that wasn't brought to my attention right up front.

Because we were using a soap that he's used before when he lived at his parent's place and he's laundered some of my laundry there and I never had a problem there. His parents have a water softener system. The salesmen who came weren't pushy which I liked a lot of because I don't like pushy salespeople. I know that they work on commission. I understand that but when you push, it tends to drive more away. And the installation guy was very helpful and very demonstrative. He double checked everything before he left. We’ve had one before quite a few years ago. During our last move, we bought a cheaper thing and it’s a big difference as far as the product goes. I’m happy with the product but I wasn’t happy with the installation. What they did is they drilled the two holes in my walls and put one pipe in. They extended the actual RainSoft device about 6 inches into my garage. I have a great, big F-250 truck. So now, I can’t park my truck in there because the RainSoft sticks out in that part of my garage. And the guy did a messy installation. So I called and RainSoft had an inspector come and look at it. He agreed with me and said that they would come back out and fix it. They’ve never done that. I called their office a couple of days ago and they never returned my call. I spoke with someone and she was rude. She said that she would call me back and they didn’t. I’m not very happy about that.

I got the water conditioning system and the drinking water filter. Definitely there is a difference. That’s why we were easy to sell on it, because we had wanted to do it for a long time and it’s just an investment which hopefully will be offset by the money we’ll save. So it’s a good investment too. But definitely, an investment in health.

We really like everything about the salesman. The only one thing is that it was like three hours long and we talked a lot. We were friendly and talkative and he’s friendly and talkative. That was the only problem. He sat there for an hour-and-a-half of it, and we thought should have been done by two hours. It was the same exact thing with the installer guy. I saw RainSoft at Home Depot and spoke with a very knowledgeable sales rep. I purchased a water filter system from them and there is absolutely a noticeable difference with my water. The installation team did a great job and they were very courteous. I would recommend RainSoft to a friend.

We had just moved into our new house and a rep came to do a test on our water. Turns out it was very hard water and he said we could really benefit from their system. We were told during the sales presentation that it would make our skin and hair feel soft after showers and we would even be using less shampoo, conditioner and lotion. What my husband was sold on is when the rep said it would leave a spot free rinse on the cars. So we decided to get it. Within the first two weeks they had to come out twice to fix it and to retest! And when I get out of the shower, my skin feels sticky and tight (not like soft water at all). I am actually using more lotion than I ever have before! Also, my husband had been upset because the spot free rinse was not as spot free as one would hope.

So, because we were very unsatisfied with our system we called to have it uninstalled and returned. The only thing they did was send someone out to retest the water. Every time they leave they say the water is "good"! They have been out several times all with the same result... nothing. So now we have stopped paying them because we are not getting what we were sold on and the finance company, Foundation Financial, is threatening to put a lien on our house/sue us! Why should anyone have to pay for a product they are unsatisfied with?? And RainSoft doesn't even care because they already got their money from the finance company!! Horrible, horrible, horrible!!!!

We had our local RainSoft dealer contact the homeowner in an effort to work through their concerns.

Apparently they were using the incorrect outside hose bib with untreated water to wash their cars. (A second hose bib with softened water is installed, and should be used for this purpose.) The customer's water was tested again by the dealer, and it was found to be 0 grain hard; the system is operating properly.

The water softener system from RainSoft is incomplete at this point because they’re still coming back out to work on some things. I’ve noticed a difference in the water when it works properly. We bought the original system a number of years ago and recently added on an iron filter. The unfortunate part is that the sales representative said it really should have been put on when we moved here because we’ve had ongoing problems with the water softener all along and it’s all because of iron. And if we had the filter in the first place for iron… we wouldn’t have the problem. Up to this point, we’ve been disappointed. We’re on a better path but overall, we thought we were buying a Cadillac and just didn’t feel like that’s what we ended up with. People at my husband’s work laugh at him because they bought a $200 system from Sears and put it in and have no problems and we have had just nothing but problems.

There’s a postcard in my mail that said $20 gift certificate to do a free water analysis. We did that and the RainSoft sales rep was knowledgeable. The product was excellent. However, some of the sales communication needed to be better in terms of how the sale points were presented and how the sale aspect was done.

The people at RainSoft were very knowledgeable and helpful. We have had an issue since they came out here over the weekend. My husband was going to contact them today… I felt certain it will be taken care of. In fact, we have recommended it to others before.
