    Our experience with Protection 1 was fabulous! We've had them for four years now. We used them in our studio, our previous house, and then when we recently moved over to our new house, we decided to keep them. We switched over to Protection 1 from our previous provider, ADT. Bad experience with ADT -- couldn't provide the service that we needed and then they would not fix our contract. Took six months to get ADT to stop billing us even after we had put our contract off. But my husband is friends with the regional manager for Protection 1 here and they offered us a much better service.

    The tech came in to install the device and got right down to business. It was a pretty extensive install and professionally done. We had a light gun and the tech knew how to do it all. Now we use both the interactive web as well as the mobile controls frequently and the keypads to lock and unlock the doors, and assign codes to various people so we know who's coming and going. We've had false alarms and the team members at Protection 1 have always been very professional through the device in the wall and in their follow-up phone calls. They're great!

    I’ve had Protection 1 for quite some time now. I got properties in Minnesota and I have Protection 1 installed in those. Their team communicated well, explained what they did in detail, and I was pleased with the results. I like the mobile app and that I could turn the system on and off from my cell phone. I actually need to get that for my home unit. I added some features that are not part of Protection 1, but I’m satisfied with my experience with them.

    At the time I chose Protection 1, there were only a few options, and it was them who had the best price. They were also community-located and could do the installation quickly. We just purchased a property then and we had them install an alarm system in it. It’s amazing to have the web and mobile controls. It’s much easier to use the alarm system especially given the current design. It used to be all wired. They were installed in the house and the monitoring unit is hidden somewhere else. With the wireless systems, the monitoring unit is in the panel so I don’t want to put it in a place that has easy access to the front door, but at the same time, I want to be able to disarm it easily. It lets me put the panel somewhere secluded and use the phone for access.

    I’ve been a Protection 1 customer for eight years. When I first moved into my new home in Alabama, it was one of the vendors that was recommended to me. Installing the security device was more of a hassle than troublesome, but still it went fine. I have a young baby, so I’m trying to get the time to do it and get it to work. I have used their web controls, and it's fantastic to be able to access our system at any time from anywhere.

    Talking to their team was great, but transferring my account from Connecticut to North Carolina wasn’t so. I’ve been their customer for a very long time but because of work commitments, I had relocated from Alabama to Connecticut and unfortunately, within months, I came back to North Carolina. I dealt with an individual who keeps saying I was locked into a contract and I can always buy them out but $400 wasn’t good enough for me. Other than that, the service has always been great.

    We've been using Protection 1 for many years and we had a horrible experience with its installation. Our house was brand new and pre-wired for a security system when we bought it. All the wires were by the doors for control panels but there was no actual security hardware in place. Protection 1 sent out a young guy who didn't appear to be new to installation but was probably the stupidest person I've ever had try to install something in my home. He didn't know what he was doing and caused damage to my house. He put a hole in the wall because he wanted to look and see where the wires were. It was nowhere where a keypad would go. And he finally had to call his supervisor to come up and help him. The installation that was supposed to take one day took two and a half, and they never fixed the hole in the wall despite repeated phone calls. They promised they were going to fix it. I ended up paying for it myself.

    We also had an issue a few years ago where we had an alarm go off but they never called. We were actually home at the time. When I called to tell them that it was a false alarm, the person told me, “Oh, yeah, Friday nights, we just kind of assume they’re false alarms.” I was like, “Oh, really? No one breaks into houses on Friday nights?” But there's a couple of times when police had to come. It was false alarm again and we weren't home. On those instances, they responded quickly. Also, their web and mobile controls are easy to use. When they first brought it out, it was cumbersome but the last time I tried using it, it was simple enough to use.

    There's not enough words for me to discuss about this company. Ever since we got it we had nothing but problems! Alarm going off every day, we have over $2000 fines in Sheriff's fees due to false alarm which we are still trying to get the company to pay. You can never get a supervisor to speak to so forget about getting any higher up helping you with repeated issues or even returning phone calls. They try to keep you lock in a 5 years contract without telling you up front. They bluntly lie to your face and try to cover it up!!! Please look for another alarm company. They were the cheapest and now we know why.

    I've been happy with Protection 1 for a long time until I moved and started having a lot of problems with them. I was still getting billed for my old location to my new location. It took me a few phone calls to get it corrected. They kept telling me that somebody is going to call me back, but they didn't. Moreover, somebody broke into my house and instead of calling the police right away, they called all my contact numbers before they called the police. The police came late, my contact people are the ones who got there before the police. They should've called the police when they knew that someone was in her house who didn't know the security code. I was very upset. If I didn't sign a contract, I would have left them.

    I like Protection 1 a lot. The only misunderstanding I've had with them was when they installed my system in August, they say I can make monthly payments so I start doing that, and I have been safe. I've never missed paying monthly on it, but every month, they keep calling me at least a few times saying that there's a problem. I've already told them I paid them and they didn’t communicate with each other that's why I kept getting called that I need to pay. There is one issue on one of the centers but the tech is coming out on Friday to look at that. I've had them since 2004 and would recommend them to friends even though I have these two issues. Overall, I am happy. I've moved twice and I get them over and over again.

    I've used Protection 1 for over 10 years and my experience with them had been positive. Having two houses, I have both the wired and wireless system and out of the two, the wired system is the best even though it may be considered old technology. The wireless system is a bit unreliable because it loses radio signal and you have to pay attention to your battery life because when you don't have a good radio signal, then you're expending more battery. So I did the new house with the wireless system but if I had to do it all over again, I would not do it. However, I would definitely recommend Protection 1 because it's the technology I'm disappointed in, not them.

    We have been using Protection 1 for 13 years already, and our interactions with the customer service reps have all been very positive. However, I have had an issue with billing when we had something added to our house recently. The online access of the billing system is not very user-friendly and I can't see the breakdown. So, I called to get a breakdown of the new bill, but it was hard for them to figure out how the breakdown happened and what my new monthly payment was going to be. But, other than that, they're very nice about it. I eventually had to talk to Art, the person who installed my system and security cameras, to have his admin explain it to me, so it was complicated. Art has always been very professional and it's nice to know that he is still around. He's familiar with us and he remembered us, and that felt good.

    The first install I had with Protection 1 about 10 years ago was great. We had good equipment. When we moved to a new house, they said that they could bring in new equipment and install the system for us. So we didn't have to move our other equipment. The equipment we have now isn't as nice and not as good a quality so I was a little disappointed. The technician was very nice, but it seemed like he wanted to get the job done quick. He wasn't willing to put the unit in a spot that would've been good for it. The equipment was put into a pantry closet instead of where I would've probably wanted it which is closer to the exit door. But all in all, Tiffany the salesperson was really nice and our interaction went well.

    I've had Protection 1 for a long time. I had them for years in Merced and when I moved to Modesto, they gave me the same deal, and I was happy about that. But they did charge me quite a bit to have the system put in again. When the guy they sent came in and installed the system, he took all day to install it and he accidentally hit a wire and cut it. It turned off my laundry light. I called the electrician and he said it looked like a drill hit the wiring, which got damaged because of it.

    I signed up for Protection 1 from a door to door salesman. Huge mistake. The whole time I asked, "What's the contract?" He said, “There is no contract. This is training for the new guy.” I asked 3 times. Anyways it was like a 4 year contract even though the guy said it would be written in our account this was training and it would be void. One of the many lies. Then we suspend our account since we were moving and come to find out I still get the pictures sent to me of the new people living in my house!! We call them and they say, "Well it's only suspended so you still have access to everything!!! Really??? That's terrible.

    Then we cancel with them for multiple reason get charged for the months our account was suspend and the cancellation fee. I call to see why I have to pay for the months it wasn't active. Manager couldn't really answer but wasn't willing to take care of it and make it right. Then I asked about the "training" thing and asked, "Am I the only person that says this?" Her response was, "No we get multiple complaints about this but you signed it." Yes I did sign after being lied to my face multiple times. That it was being taken care of. So needless to say they have no customer service, don't stand behind what their techs say and are unwilling to work with you.

    Protection 1 charged me more than I thought I agreed upon. The contract says $450 then they gave me a $250 loyalty credit and I thought that was coming off the $450 and it wasn't. Then they showed on the bill additional pieces and parts for the install that they didn't use and didn't do, but they said it still comes out to the $450. I was very unhappy. Moreover, I was paying for service and I wasn't connected for the longest period of time. I was supposed to have cellular and my cellular wasn't working.

    I liked my old provider but their panel went out and even though I was still paying for their panel, I had to switch to a different company. We chose Protection 1. The installation took about six months. There was a lot of delay -- part of it was my corporate office's fault and a big portion of it was Protection 1. They determined that they did not quote everything needed to install the alarm system, and then they dragged their feet another two months getting the proper quote in place. It was one fiasco after another for a long period of time. Currently, while the alarm system is good, there are still some hem-hawing around and I've had a lot of equipment failures.

    We've had Protection 1 for about fifteen years. My wife has been very security-conscious. She's been in houses where they've got broken into so she always had a security system.     We had Protection 1 at our old house and we recently relocated across town. We spoke to the people who had the alarm system here before, and we went back to Protection 1. Alarm system was already installed in the house that only needs to be configured and it went very well. There was a time I called their staff because we had gone somewhere and I thought I reset the password and it didn't work and it was going off at 11:00 PM. They came over the next day to change the battery. Also there was a time the alarm went off for fire at the old house. One was an oven fire and they had the fire department there very quickly. The other time, we burnt something but they still sent someone out.

    I've been a customer of Protection 1 for over 12 years in four houses. We have just recently moved so we got a new device. The guy who installed it was very good and helpful.They came when they said they were going to come. I've had an easy experience all the time each time the system is installed. It's great to have their web and mobile control on the system anytime, anywhere, especially if I'm going away.

    When we had a call, luckily we were five minutes away so we could just ride to home and see what the problem was and beat the police but I had forgotten my password so I had a little trouble. If I could remember it at that time, I could've looked and saw that it was the dog knocking over a pile of boxes. I would've seen the issue rather than somebody walking through my house. But once I got the password I was able to use the camera and see in which was good.

    I like the features of Protection 1 compared to another security system I have in another house. I like the fact that it tells me when a system is armed and disarmed, that I can hear the talking and chime when I'm upstairs and I hear the door open. Protection 1 works really well.     I had Protection 1 before and then my house was involved in the polar vortex with a lot of water damage, so I had to get everything cut off until it was reconstructed. I went back with them because of familiarity and that I've been a happy customer then but now I don't know if I am still because of how the billing structure has changed. I needed somebody to come out and they asked $25 for it and they don't do the monthly protection anymore. I have to call a different number, not the local number. All of that being put back on me as a customer, so I haven't done it because I don't have time. Their representatives are fine and professional but they're not local so they really can't help me.

    We had a bad experience with Protection 1. I was at the store and the alarm went off, and I come home and my garage door is wide open. The police came out and came inside the house. I didn't go inside until he came outside to let me know that it was safe. And once I came into the house, we looked around all of that. But our cameras, they don't do anything, nothing. And when I got back to the house, the alarm wasn't going off, it was silent.

    And then once he went downstairs to the basement and then it triggered it all. It went off. He came back up; I had to shut it off. The camera caught the police guy coming up the stairs mind you, the police didn’t have anything in his hand when he went downstairs in the basement. When he came back up, the camera caught him carrying something up there. . And when he came outside to meet me, he had nothing in his hand, so were trying to figure that out. It’s puzzling and scary. My husband did reach out to Protection 1, and he was kind of seeing if they can get a better picture, and there was nothing that they can do.

    Installing Protection 1 is fine because I have self-install however, it's not as user-friendly as in the past. Usually, if you do a reset it corrects the problem. If it says, "your door is still open", you close the door and you'll be reset. It didn't reset this morning so I had to do a bypass to get the alarm on, but it's not securing the front door according to what it's saying. Everybody at Protection 1 has been fine as far as customer service is concerned. The representative that I initially worked with when I was changing from one location to the next was awesome. She ensured a full transition with no interruption in service. I like the fact that now when we move, we don't have to have somebody come out and install. We can take it with us. It's easy to install, we didn't have to call a tech for assistance. Everything was labeled so we know which ones should go where. It gives feedback to let us know everything was installed properly.

    We moved back from Florida in 2002 to Texas, and we had a neighbor who told us about Protection 1. We’ve used them since 2002, and we’ve moved three times in the Flower Mound, Texas area and retained them each time we moved. We recently moved August 3rd or 4th to Lubbock, Texas and I used them until here. Since they don't have an office here in Lubbock, they have to use contractors out here so the service isn’t as good. It’s been frustrating because the system didn’t work and the folks they continue to send out to try to fix it were guessing. No one had a real understanding to why the keypads weren’t working and why at eight minutes after the hour, whenever the alarm was on, why the keypad would recycle and it would go from stay mode to away mode and come back to stay mode.

    Everyone was trying to help but nobody really knew where to go to try to figure it out. They replaced keypads thinking that would eliminate the problem, thinking there was a bad keypad. They installed a signal booster because some of the keypads were supposed to talk to the master keypad and they thought maybe that they were too far apart. They were trying different solutions, but none of them were working. I was really frustrated because twice two technicians came out and they asked me, “What’s the problem?” Because no one told them what the problem was before they got to my house. As much time that I spent on the phone with the technicians and the help desk people, they should have had notes written to hand the technician before he got here. There's a breakdown of communication, from the help desk to the technician they sent out because they came out uninformed every time.

    The last technician that came out came from Dallas and we described what was going on and he had begun to look at the power supply to those keypads and come to find out that they were not being supplied with enough power. The transformer that was installed by a local contractor that they used had taken the shortcut and just used power that was in the box where all the battery goes and it wasn’t enough to run those keypads. So the technician that came out most recently, checked the power supply and it wasn’t what those keypads were required to have. He unwired the keypads from the power supply in the box and wire them into a plug that would go in the wall and then all three of them begin to receive the proper voltage and the keypads began to work properly, and they stopped re-cycling every eight minutes after the hour.

    A couple of times the alarms have gone off and I get a text or alert on my phone, I’m able to look at the cameras to see what’s going on, and turn the system off and then reactive the system if it was just an opening door, I’m able to turn it off. My wife got back to the house to close the door completely, and reset the alarm. I do like that flexibility using your phone to turn it on and turn it off. I like the ability to check the cameras from time to time when I have people staying in the house, to make sure they’re doing their job. I really like how the technology works, I wouldn’t recommend them unless they had a complete office in the area. Because of the subcontractors in the area, I would not use Protection 1 again in Lubbock, Texas.

    We have you used Protection 1 for at least five years, but I'm not having a good experience with them right now. We just had some new equipment installed at this address and another address. Since installing the new equipment, I've constantly had to call them and try to get things straight. I still haven't straightened issues with the cameras yet. I got one that's not working and then they seem to just go out all the time.

    I'm dissatisfied with them right now. The issue I have with the one I have in Louisiana is that they're telling me I got to drive all the way to Louisiana for them to troubleshoot my system. I'm in Texas, and I don't think that's very good. Im working with their mobile controls now. The very reason why I went on and got that system is because I needed to look at my property down in Louisiana in real-time. Also, somebody broke into that property. At one point, I did feel secure because I could pull that system off on my device in real-time, but now, I can't do it. I'm right back where I was. We've been trying to control it through Alarm.com right now. I think it's pretty good if I can get it to work. My wife and I are talking about it and we don't see why we have to pay them when the system is not even working.

    We are a Condominium group. We had Protection 1 installed October 2014. We have many blind spots, no facial recognition, cannot see license plates, very slow playback, and have had terrible to no service. Six months in, Nick promised to get this resolved. He did not.     We've been using Protection 1 for about 15 years in two locations. I have used the mobile app at the former location but not in the new house. It was not very user-friendly in the past but now it's great especially for someone else who's coming into the house which makes them a little more at ease to turn it off outside versus try to turn it off inside and running into a problem and having the alarm go off. The installation was smooth. The person who installed the system was very thorough however, they completely forgot about installing a system in the garage. There was a miscommunication with whether or not it was included in his assignment.

    But my biggest challenge has been with the automatic billing. A couple of times we've been in Europe and I've had multiple phone messages saying the bill hadn't been paid when in fact we had automatic billing. That's usually an issue with this system only allowing for charging the minimum even if there's $10 or $15 city fee charge. I also have a problem with the installation because I thought I was going to be billed for that automatically and they didn't put it on my card for the same reason that it was more than the allotted monthly amount. That then required another phone call and I think that should be addressed. But overall, having the device definitely provides a level of security. We've never had any real issues other than the babysitter leaving the door open. I would definitely recommend Protection 1. I think it's a good deterrent.

    We've had Protection 1 as our home security provider for a long time, ten years maybe. Installing our most recent Protection 1 security device is a disaster. They sold me on installing cameras and updating my equipment. And they came, and it probably took them 8 days to get it in correctly. It's supposed to take one. Eight days, eight follow-up phone calls, eight everything. I don't think they investigated the situation thoroughly enough before they sold me the product. I had the opportunity to try their web or mobile controls. I like the concept but it has lots of bumps in the road getting installed. I just had a really bad experience. I really had a terrible experience installing everything. I think that there needs to be much more thorough investigation of a current house before they sell on new equipment because often the current house structure might not support it.

    I’ve had Protection 1 for years. We tried many companies before. But it always went back to Protection 1. Installing it was no problem, the technician just came in, installed and explained it, and left. I set it when I leave and put it on at night. I also use their web and mobile controls, it's fine but I don't control it from any place but the house. I'm happy and satisfied with it. But I didn’t feel that I needed Protection 1 for protection especially. I wanted the medical button, so that's the reason I had it put it. With Protection 1, I got two uses with just one system. I would recommend it to anyone.

    We've been with them for 10 years. We got a new system. It was complicated and it went on. Majority of the work seemed to be easy. The garage door was new. Our whole work order was not completed because the technician did not know how to get the garage door system to work, so that was disappointing. They purchased a new system and technician came out twice to try and figure it out and it never was installed.

    I love the mobile control but that's the problem with the garage door. We were going to be able to use our phones to open and close our garage door. But that was never successfully installed. Other than that, we have the ability to be in bed and set the alarm. I love that it is wireless. I probably set my alarm more often because of it. I also got the key fob but I like the mobile app better because I can actually see that it's going on. With the key fob, you don't hear anything. You have to assume that it's working.

    The only thing I'm actually extremely concerned about is my bill. Everything was completely wrong when we first got our bill. There are still communication between technician and the customer service. They don't seem to be on the same page. They were still trying to figure out our bill. I think they charged us for the garage door that we never got and so we're trying to work that out. I like their technician but I don't like how he knows all my pass codes and everything. So they must have a very trustworthy technician. That's a little bit concerning. Nonetheless, I'm satisfied with their service.

    The Protection 1 installer is quick-in, quick-out. You get exactly what he says he's gonna do and was nice and friendly. Checked back to see if I had any issues, but everything's gone smooth after the installation. I also like the ability to step outside of the home and have a remote control on my keychain. Although that was a small extra fee but it's no big deal. They seemed to be very similar with the system I had before, but the prime factor is the pricing. There's always room for improvement on everybody's part but Protection 1 is a good service.

    I'm having the garage door and I lost the installer's name from Protection 1 and he was aware of it, so I need him to come back. I wish I would have them in a much convenient location because if it is set off, I have to go far from where I am. But as far as monitoring, it's great. They're quick to respond. Also, I like the key fob, the remote. They only gave me one, but it would be a nice feature to have two of those, one for my husband, one for me.

    Since the alarm is so far away and say I get up in the middle of the night, I let the dog out and I forgot to turn it off, then the alarm goes off. I have to go pretty far to turn this thing off. So, when I get down there they're already charging through that monitor. It's really, really loud and it startled me. They're quick to be there, but I wish I would have found a better way with that. I put it down close to the front door and it should have been closer to the bedroom. However, I really like their web or mobile controls where you can arm and disarm them. Also, their team were very professional, helpful and even the guy that helped with the installer was very professional.

    I've been waiting for two days for Protection 1 to call to set up a service appointment since they installed my system in a GFCI outlet that keeps tripping. I had to run an extension cord to a non-GFCI outlet to keep the battery from dying. Hence, I was really hoping for a more prompt response from them. They did try to get back to me yesterday afternoon but I was in a meeting so I couldn't talk to them. By the time I got back to them, their office was closed.I haven't heard from them yet today though.

    I've been with them for probably ten years or more, even back in my prior home in Massachusetts. They had a good transfer deal so I retained their services when I moved here to North Carolina. I haven't been as happy here with the system and how its been handled however. Shortly after the system was installed, we went on vacation which is of course when we wanted our burglar and smoke alarms working the most. However, since the GFCI outlet kept tripping, the alarm was completely dead when my husband got back and no one even called us to say that the system hasn't been responding for some time. Thus, I'm not very happy with Protection 1 right now.

    We recommend Protection 1 to everybody. We've had it forever. We have it in this house and had it in our other house for a million years. I use Protection 1's web and mobile controls and I really like it because (1) when my daughter gets home from school, she calls me and I turn on the alarm so that way she's safe and (2) I don’t have to be at the house to turn the system on and off.

    We've had Protection 1 for years and we've always liked it. So when we moved from California to Washington, it was just natural for us to put a hold on their service in California and restart it up here. Installing it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It has been installed in California by an installer but when we got the little box here, it was really easy. The experience was fine and I have the mobile controls on my cell phone so I can arm and disarm it when I'm away. We also have the key fob and it works great. Initially, after it got installed, I forgot to turn the alarm off and they were right there on the little box talking to me. So I apologized and disconnected.     I love Protection 1. I had some incidents at my previous home and they were there right away. The response is immediate. If I am not available, they try to contact my people on the list. We’re in a gated community now and it’s rural so safety isn’t so much an issue but we feel safe since the system was set up. We’re old so we like that we can hit the panic button and get somebody out. We also love that all the smoke alarms are wired and and we can access our thermostats with our cell phones.     I've had Protection 1 since I lived in Seattle in 1990. I had to have them follow me when I moved to Fresno and when, just a month ago, I moved to a new home. The guy who installed the system was very good and quick. It took him all day to do 20 windows and a couple of doors. I like that they have the new touchscreen, with the weather, and lots of bells and whistles. I also love that when I contracted somebody in and out of my house, I can arm and unarm the system through my phone. It goes to my email, so I know when my kids are home even when I'm out of town. Overall, Protection 1 was very efficient.     We've had Protection 1 for 27 years. We had it before it was Protection 1. I have two houses and we're remodeling one. We started putting things that mattered so we also put the security system there. Installing it was easy. They told me what I needed and they came in another day. I have a wireless one and I set it on my iPhone so it's good. It worked. I do the mobile control almost exclusively because the house is being worked on by lots of people, so I turn it off at 7:30 AM and then I turn it back on at dark, even though nobody lives there.     We've had Protection 1 for 25 years. We had a very positive relationship with them originally. The technicians were very helpful. For many years, the technician took care of us on the farm where we just recently moved from, his name was Bill. He was awesome and extremely helpful all those years. We had had a few problems throughout the years and it was always taken care of nicely. We also had a maintenance program that they came in once a year, changed all the batteries, checked all the sensors. That was a good relationship as well. The man who came in and did the installation for the new system was also very helpful and very informative. We appreciated that. This is in the last couple of months, so I'm still adjusting to a whole new system.

    But then more recently we've had a couple of sensors that we're having problems, and so now we're in a technical age where the equipment we originally had was not going to work with what they had to replace it with. A lot of things went wrong and there was some gross miscommunication. I made phone call after phone call, talking to person after person; nobody seemed to know what I was talking about. It was really frustrating.

    Finally somebody recognized that we had two monitoring systems. There should have been all this stuff that we didn't have, in so far as charges. We had two separate systems because one of the buildings was too far from the main panel and we had one maintenance plan, one monitoring plan for all those years until more recently. So when all these had to happen, suddenly we have two maintenance plans, two monitoring plans - very expensive. So we were up against the wall - take it or leave it. I can't recall how far I took it but I had to compromise and Protection 1 compromised. We came to an agreement that I didn't appreciate, but what choice did I have? The whole thing was a nightmare, getting to the bottom of it, getting somebody to understand what I was trying to tell them.

    It hasn't been that long ago. So many things have changed since then - we sold our home, we moved, and now we have a home that we had Protection 1 come and put in alarm system for us. They have some other term for it that we have to go with the new modernized terminology nowadays, but I'm sure we have a monitoring system as well as the protection, equipment protection system. We're protected.

    I've been a Protection 1 customer for many years. I had the device installed twice. The first one was done by them and the second one was done by me which took a bit more time.     I've got my first Protection 1 system in 2013. We moved recently and when I called to say that we were moving, we expected that we were going to have the same system that we had, but it was something different. When I asked about this system that we had in our old home, they said, "Oh, that system is no longer used. This is what we use." That system didn't show me anything like the system in my old house showed me my doors, my windows, and the whole house to say that everything was checked and secured.

    The new system was just a very basic pad. I called to ask them to exchange that because they said they would move with me, they didn't tell me that when we move, they will give me something different than what I already had. I was paying about $10 more for the basic system, so I wasn't happy with that at all. I moved here September 4th, I kept calling, and finally I got someone to listen and then they said, "Well, the system you had at the old house, we no longer use."

    When I was going to move, they threatened to charge me the whole amount or at least $750. I was really upset about that because I had been with them for two years and my contract was a 58-month. I saw last night that I had signed a whole new contract when I moved, so it started all over again instead of going forward. I am not truly satisfied. My installer has been great, but the company as a whole is not that excellent.

    It was easy installing the Protection 1 device. I've also used their web and mobile controls and I like it very much. I would definitely recommend them, that is until I got my bill. When I called Protection 1 about my bill, the gentleman was very nice. I had three locations. One was in Topeka, Kansas which is still operational but should be turned off on the 18 next month. Another is in Beaumont, Texas which was recently installed and is still operational. This is my current address since I relocated just recently. And the third one is in Topeka, Kansas and that should have stopped being operational shortly after January of 2015. However on my most recent bill, they have included the third location. I questioned that, but never did get a good answer.

    I told them that it should not be on the bill because that’s not even my address anymore for that location. It may still be operational, but it’s to the individual that I sold my business to. I also reminded them that the first location should be turned off next month because I’m no longer responsible for it since we sold the house. That gives them two days to turn it back on. Hopefully, they will get it changed because I have already relocated. I’m not going to need them for the 18th of November or anything at all in Topeka, Kansas.

    Overall, I like Protection 1 as a company. I would have had them in another location I had if they serviced that area but they didn't. I've been very pleased with them over the years – with their service and when the alarm does go off. It’s only the bill that I’ve been fuming over. I didn’t pay the bill, I’m not paying for the bill and I shouldn’t be. I’ll see what my next bill comes up with because I just got the one dated September 8th a week ago and I don’t know why it was late getting here.

    I had a break-in with Protection 1 and the response wasn't the response that I wanted to get from the alarm system. I wasn't very happy with the service but I have a contract with them so I'm keeping it. I transferred my service to my new home. and I'm also having some trouble with my cameras. They're not sending me the snapshot of the first movement that I used to get in my other place. I called customer service trying to get some assistance about it and she told me that I had to go online and change that setting on my account. Hopefully that fixes my issue.

    I've been with Protection 1 for 10 or 15 years. They installed the alarm system in the house and they put in cameras recently. The team from Protection 1 are fine, but my biggest problem is the billing. It didn't turn out the way I was told. I'm not sure how legitimate all the charges are, but it appeared to me that not everything was properly explained when I had the cameras installed. Because I went from $36 a month as an alarm system in the house, and now it's $136 and then I had extra charges. When I called to try to get an explanation, nobody would give me a proper explanation other than they were charges for batteries and charges for a unit that was put into the house so that if the power went out, it would still be able to record. For months now I'm getting all these little extra things and I can't figure out why.

    I've called two or three times and I haven't got anything to my satisfaction. I just felt like I was misled and I don't like that. If I got a bill, I'll pay it. When they offer to install the cameras for $2,500, I agreed to it. But it seems there are little charges that were categorized as equipment and when I asked, "What equipment?" They wouldn't answer. I have not been really pleased with it. I've got everything on my cellphone, on my TV in the living room and I've got a monitor in my office and all seems to be working quite well.

    I have a 3,000 square foot house. On the back of the house, I have an apartment and it's attached to the house. I always paid for just the one house for years, I never had a problem. And then suddenly they're charging me for two dwellings rather than one. I have a 95-year-old army veteran trying to survive in this little apartment that I built in the back for him and I wanted the security system for his benefit so he'd feel safer. And then they started billing him. I called and told them to stop billing him. They were still sending us two separate bills. I seriously thought about getting another service but I just haven't had time. I get tired of fighting so I just pay the bill and move on. As far as the workers were concerned, they were very reasonable. Overall, I'm not very dissatisfied, it was just a fairly good experience.

The person who installed it was very cordial, very professional, and discussed everything that needed to be discussed in the professional manner I expected.     I've been disappointed in the equipment malfunctions. We've had four of the window receivers that have disconnected themselves from the wireless system, so it'll tell you that they're not being monitored. Then the team from Protection 1 have to come out and readjust and do things. They've been out more times since I put this new system than they were in the 20 years that I had the other one in the other house. I'm just not sure that the equipment is as good as it used to be but I'm not dissatisfied. All of the people were friendly and the company was responsive about sending people out.

    We switched to Protection 1 from Vivint as our home security provider because Protection 1 was cheaper. We moved and they installed the new system in our house. They were friendly and professional, but I think the guy was rushed. In fact, there's a technician coming to my house today to repair a sensor that they put in one of the places in our house with adhesive on the back of it. When it fell down and my mother-in-law was over there back in the other house, she pumped it and it went off. I'm not happy with that and now they're charging me $25 to come and fix it when it was their fault. Moreover, I thought it was deceitful the way they put into writing how much it was going to be to transfer the different technology components they had when we moved to the new house. Overall, I'm disappointed and I'm probably going to go back to another agency like ADT when the contract is up.

    I've called Protection 1 a couple of times because I felt didn't feel that they've been honest. I've been with them for 18 years in Oregon and they upgraded the unit there when I had trouble with the main unit. So when I moved to California, I got in touch with them again. Bill, the Protection 1 rep I talked to before moving to California, told me that I only need to let their people in California that I just pay for the monitoring fee like I had been doing for the past seven years since I've become a senior member - it was $20 at first then they raised it to $22, and I was okay with it.

    So that's what I did when I came here: I called Protection 1 and the date was set up. I had this really nice, knowledgeable young guy who installed everything and asked me to sign the 3-year contract, with the rate something close to $50. He said the rate is higher since it's their newest, top-of-the-line system. It was already installed so I had no choice but to sign. Since it's not the deal I was expecting, I called Protection 1's office and they granted me $5 off every month. However, I'm stuck for the three-year period at dollars and cents every month. I'm retired, no income whatsoever, and taking care of my mentally ill grandson - that's why I came up to California in the first place.

    I started thinking a little bit more then called them again and spoke with the manager. He pointed out the $93 balance on my bill then said that I accepted the $5 off and that's all they can do for me. He did say that perhaps they can halve my next bill, but this is not what I'm after. Furthermore, I have never used the system since it was installed since it would be an issue with my mentally ill grandson going in and out the door. This whole experience was a little bit surprising, but I never had any issue with the company itself. In fact, I'd still recommend them.

    We had Westinghouse when we first built our house and then Protection 1 bought it out, and we’re now a 20-year customer of theirs. Our latest installation with Protection 1 was in our boathouse. We’ve had an alarm system for 20 years so I wanted an alarm system at this new place since it gives me a sense of security. My husband travels a lot, so if I’m there by myself or even when my husband and I are there together, we’ll set the alarm for a sense of protection. I have the little remote control for the boathouse but we really need to do the mobile app. I have it installed on my phone but I just haven’t set it up. It's pretty cool that when I set the alarm at the boathouse, I get an email alert saying when it’s armed and disarmed.

    The person that sold me the whole system did a really great job. In fact, we liked the new panel so much that we upgraded the one at our house to the newer digital panel. We had an old one from Westinghouse so that is much better, too. We had to have them come out a couple of times only because we changed our minds with the way we wanted our panel. They came when they said they would. They were very professional when I spoke to them and helped me with what I needed. It’s a very good experience. Protection 1 does a great job and I would definitely recommend them.

    We have used Protection 1 for nearly 30 years and had no issue. However, we are currently having a problem with our other house that has Protection 1 right now. There are just way too many wireless extensions on the door that if you were to come in the garage, you're okay but if you open the garage service door and you do not come in within the time allowed the alarm goes off. My husband doesn't hear a sound because he's deaf so that's an issue. So unless he comes through the main garage door, he is okay.

    Every door that I open, from the master bathroom into our recreation room, has a sensor. I had it installed because I'm having a sunroom built so that will go on that room. However, the sunroom will have that that is on the master bathroom door that goes into the recreation room, which is my studio - that also has an exit door with a wireless so everywhere, every door you open except for the big garage door, and even the service door from the garage into the laundry room all have alarms going off and you only have 60 seconds to get your tail out of the area. But the system in the house that I'm currently in is fine. There's Protection 1 in here going on 28 years. It's a very-user friendly system plus their people are right on schedule with everything. They have excellent service and I'm satisfied. Overall, I have had a good experience with Protection 1.

    On Sept.1.2014 sales rep Taylor ** knocked on our door and told myself and my husband he was from Protection One and that they were taking over our old alarm company. He didn't give us a choice on whether we wanted it or not. He asked when do we want the new one installed and if we didn't get it we would have to pay the early termination fee. I never received a paper copy and I was billed three times within the first month even after calling and canceling my service which they of course have no record of me calling.

    I had to stop payments, change my phone number and my email and they still were not getting the point. About a month or two after we had another alarm system re-installed they sent us a letter stating that they were not getting a signal from their alarm and that there might be a problem with it. The other day I received a letter from them stating that I owe them $1138.57 for early termination fee and past due account but when at the time I had cancelled my service with them there was no past due. These people are con artist - all I want them to do is leave me alone.

    I signed up with LifeShield but now I'm told that Protection One is billing my account and I guess handling the account also. I have cancelled the services, but now I'm shown a contract with an electronic signature that says I signed up until 2018. At the time I thought it was for a much shorter time. I have had so much trouble with the service going off and not even knowing it until I signed on to my email and then I had to put it back up. They have changed my monitoring company and never told me. I found out when I called the one I thought was monitoring me, only to be told they didn't have any record of me. Several times my alarm went off and rang for a while before I could get to it and No one ever called. Now I'm going to go to battle through the credit bureaus.

    Some of these comments were sent to Protection One after I canceled my service. Note: I have been a customer with them for about 19 years. Why am I canceling? I don't trust your company anymore. The issues are too long, I do not what to type them all out. Besides, I have talked about the problems with many
    people, and, I mean many people. In short, your company refused to replace obsolete and defective equipment. It was your policy to replace obsolete

    equipment. It was expressed in one of your newsletters that I received many years ago. Recently, I was told by a salesman that upper management stated in response "policies change".

    The replacement of obsolete equipment is not stated in the contract, and, it is a contract in which no additional agreements can be added. The original contract said: "During the terms of this Agreement, Pro-One will provide repair service for the System, including all parts and labor." Evidently, this does not include replacing discontinued parts or a complete system with like or better equipment.

    Protection One offered to put in a new system, but, I would have to sign a different contract lasting five years. I would also have to pay about 75% more than I am now. The fact that I canceled the contract probably excludes any resolution to this issue. If I did not cancel 30 days before November, I would have had to pay for
    another year of service. The system I have has been unplugged of several months because it was sending too many false alarms. It sent out several false alarms

    after the repairman left, and, this was the same day.

    We have had our system a little over a year and have had a few technical problems with them that we overlooked. At the time of signing up with them we signed paper work for a 24 month agreement with an option to end at any time. Well today I call to cancel because we are moving this week and they gave me a run around and said that after a year it turns into a 58 month agreement and that they have my husband's signature electronically. We never signed electronically. And the sales man said he would email us the paper work once he scanned it into his computer and that never happened so I don't have copies of the paper work.

    So they wanted to charge us 2500 dollars to end our contract. It took me arguing and fighting to get it down to 750 dollars but still it is not what we signed up for or what we were told. I have done some research and apparently this is happening often with them since around the time we signed up with them. I will never give them my business again.

    We had problems with our alarm system for about 3 years. Constantly offline and blinking. We had pets, but continued to pay them, though we never used the alarm system. We finally shut them off after 15 years. They sent us a bill for over 80.00, and although we paid them in a reasonable amount of time, they turned us over to a collections agency. We were going to have them install a newer, higher tech alarm system. However, we will look for a company that has a 5 star rating, unlike this one. Shame on you people, Protection One! They even came chasing after my dead mother-in-law's bill as well. They were told she passed -- no sympathy!
