    I was going to go with SafeTouch but the only problem with them is that I have to install everything myself. I'm very pleased with Protection 1's service. We had a few false alarms when I had a sensor go off. We put the sensor on “stay” and I was playing music with my drum machine. It was rather loud and the alarm went off. The response time was excellent. At least I know the sensor is working, so I realized not to put it on when I’m making noise. We had the system reinstalled when we moved to Melbourne and one technician took five hours, which I don’t think was a good thing because we had stuff to do. But the technicians were very good.

    I watched my husband install our Protection 1 security system and he was able to do it in about an hour. I like the touch screen monitor and I like that it has the weather alert. I can check the weather through that way. I also like when the monitor beeps if things are low in battery and it tells us what is broken instead of us having to try to figure out what is not functioning. It's a reliable, efficient, and easy-to-use system and we definitely feel safer since its installation.

    I've used Protection 1 as our home security provider for a year now. We had ADT before but Protection 1 has much better service. The system was self-setup so it was very easy to do. We use their mobile app, too, which I think is great. Their people are friendly and able to answer our questions, and I liked that I always get somebody every time I call, it never goes through like an automated dialer.     I got the account with Protection 1 over a year ago. We got the service but we've never had a break-in so far. I've communicated with the reps through email and they were fair. It was fairly easy to install the security device. I tried to get a secondary speaker set to project the alarm out to the street. They sold me another console and put it out in the garage, but it wouldn't work so I'm a little bit disappointed with that.

    I was looking for different home security providers when we bought our first house. The ratings that Protection 1 had on their customer service and the price for what they offered made them the best bang for the buck. Their mobile control is great. I love it. I use my phone to arm and disarm the system and also control all of my appliances in the house. If I leave the house and forgot to turn the AC off or lock my front door, I can do all that with my phone. That feature made things more convenient for me. The customer support is also good. That’s one of the things that really impressed me the most - how responsive they are 24 hours a day, how quickly they answer the phone, and how quickly they are to help and work with any problems I have.

    I had a previous provider which was ADT and they built in a 60-second delay in the calling out, which I did not like. I got Protection 1 and it is a lot better than ADT. I have Protection 1 for about six months now and they basically updated my old system that I originally had with ADT. I have fewer worries now that I have Protection 1. I also had an online conversation with their team and it worked perfectly.

    Installing the Protection 1 security device was easy and self-explanatory although there was a little issue where the actual antennae inside the alarm system wasn’t connecting to the service. I was able to quickly contact them with barely any waiting times. After a few phone calls and trying to fix it myself, they were able to ship out a new unit quickly. I didn’t know that there was an option for an actual standard security system. That’s what I would’ve had preferred if it was professionally done. But I can understand they don’t really do that in apartments where I’m in. Overall the system is doing its job except for that little two-week period of time where there were some issues.

    The only other thing is I'm interested in some smart home features. I’d like to see if Protection 1 had that because I looked at AT&T Digital Life and they have a lot of smart home features like where it controls the locks of the house and lighting. I don’t know if Protection 1 offers that sort of stuff but I might as well look into it with them since I’m already in a contract for three-years. But it’s been a good overall experience.

    We have no problems with Protection 1. It's perfect. It’ll be about a year that we've had it in July. When they installed it, it was really painless and easy. The guy was out exactly when he said he would which was great especially given my wife and I work and don't have flexible schedules that often. He was also done within a few minutes of when he said he would be done. We also use Protection 1's mobile controls and I like it because we can always check on it when we get out of town. Once, the team from Protection 1 called when our dog set off the alarm. I was at work then and was very concerned when I found out who it was. But they were friendly, very helpful and they understood what happened. They already sent the dispatch. We couldn't cancel it, which was fine because I didn't know for sure if it was my dog or not.

    I've been with Protection 1 since November of 2015. Initially, I was looking for a security system for my house out in Lake Havasu, Arizona. We had used ADT at a previous home and decided to get away from them, and I wasn't happy with the other options. I used Protection 1 and was real happy with its service, so I decided to install it in my second house, which is my primary residence at California.

    Installing Protection 1 was very simple and straightforward. It was all pre-programmed by the representative. I had no problems whatsoever on the initial startup in the interface between the center and the equipment that I installed. I use mobile controls to arm and disarm the home, look at my cameras online, and automatically open and close my garage doors. I’m relieved that I’ve got the security that I wanted and the interface in which I can look at the system from anywhere in the world. I'm having a very pleasant experience with it. I’ve had no glitches with the system at all. It is trouble-free and simple to use.

    It was fairly easy installing Protection 1. We scheduled an appointment and the dates they gave us to choose from were convenient. Then the guy came and it didn't take him too long to put all the stuff in. It was a good experience. We had ADT before but Protection 1 is cheaper. Also, we like the remote feature, using it from our phone. We haven’t had any issues trying to remotely access the system. When we got it, we felt better knowing that if something would happen it would trigger an alarm and we're going to know about it right away. Overall, it’s been convenient and fairly easy whenever we’ve had a tripped alarm. I’ve called in once because there was a sensor problem. The service was good and quick. We got our questions answered pretty quickly.

    I've dealt with Protection 1 for a long time and I have their system in my personal home. They're good for the alarms. But I never realized how screwed up it had been through all the different iterations when the last technician came out and it's because they're lazy. They're trying to save a nickel with a wire and they're splicing everything in there. They sent out a tech who doesn’t know how to troubleshoot an existing system. When we rewired completely and put each sensor on its own unique port, spending all day, he forgot to inform us that all of our past security codes didn’t work so the alarm was ringing. He had to reprogram the code, which was in a video that took a couple of hours to fix over the phone. When the alarm went off, he also forgot to hook up the outside horn, so we made another service call. We've had fines from the city that now we have to get reimbursed from Protection 1 for the false alarms.

    Their process for installing sensors assumes that the sensors will never break. We've had the sensors for 10 years and once we started having a problem and they're all in parallel, there's no way for them to decipher which one is which. They put all the motions on one little power supply, and that power supply was being dragged down and overloaded. We had 12 sensors, but we only had six ports, and there was no documentation on which sensors were hooked up to which port and none of the sensors were labeled as to which port they're on.

    When I asked the guy if he had notes on how everything is installed, there's nothing. He keeps a scratch paper that’s folded up in the alarm box and that’s their documentation. The west, north, east and south sensors were all on the same circuit so all the information they get from feedback was totally bogus and useless that’s why he can't troubleshoot. It becomes very easy if every sensor is running some port. So we bought an extended board and put each sensor on its own dedicated port.

    I do wiring for a living and this tells me they're amateurs. They don’t take their job seriously and were not professionals. Their instruction on how they're training on how to do it doesn’t exist. There were no installation standards as having one technician to document something so the guy that comes in next would not be on the same page. They don’t have the discipline in the process to document as they go along. I also print labels so we can label everything and I believe it's never been taught. One other thing is that they put all the motions on one little power supply, so that power supply was being dragged down and overloaded. This is just anybody that does any kind of wiring for a living would do, and they don’t know how to do it because they’ve never been around an industry that requires it to be done correctly.

    I don’t blame fairly the individual installer, but the trainings from Protection 1. They're not thrilled and they don’t follow up. It would have been better off installing it myself. I suggest that they hire somebody to make an installation app that says port 1 is these four motion sensors in parallel or if they're individual sensors, they'll find individual.

    I did some research and saw the different security organizations available. Also, since I belong to USAA, they had some links that provided information for ADT and Protection 1 with price quotes in it. So I called them to confirm prices and capabilities and eventually ended up with Protection 1. I have been using it for roughly a year now since last April. The installation was mostly very easy. The only problem that we had was for the AC in one of the thermostat. I have two ACs and one thermostat was replaced very quickly and very easily. The other one was a little bit more complicated, and we ended up not putting in a thermostat. It got some other feature that helps communicate with the blower, and it got some other things that weren't compatible.

    I've also used their arming and disarming feature and it's very convenient. I used it and monitored my system when I've been on vacation. My wife felt safer and a lot more comfortable having the system on when she's alone because I'm on the road quite a bit. The one thing that I've been especially pleased with is the responsiveness of the service. There have been a couple of times where we accidentally had opened the door and the agent came on very quickly and asked us if there was any issue and asked for our response code. It felt like it was within seconds of the alarm going off. So overall, I've been very pleased with the service and its capabilities.

    We had a problem while a contractor was at the house. I was traveling, my wife had to come home from work, fire department arrived, etc. We asked to have someone come to the house to disarm the system (the alarm kept going off) until the contractor was done. I was told it would be the next day unless I agreed to a $200 fee to move me to the head of the line. I talked to a woman in New Orleans who was apparently not trained in customer service and she gave me all the reasons why she couldn't help me without me getting to talk without interruption. She finally hung up on me. I've talked to at least three people since then. Told them I am not happy and won't renew, and NOT ONE person has asked why I was dissatisfied. Other than that I had been satisfied but I think that my experience is indicative of something else.

    Protection 1 was referred to me by USAA and I trust what they recommend. It has now been a year since then. However, their equipment is a crap. I'm not impressed with it. They were responsive in the beginning, but not so now since we are now a paying locked-in three-year customer. They were out here monthly for the first six months to fix it. And on top of it, I paid a lot of money for that equipment and it's still not functioning. I finally quit calling them about coming over and fixing it. So to that end, I will not renew the contract once the contract is up. At this point, the pieces that need to be functioning are functioning, but it was a nightmare trying to deal with it.

    If a company is asking for a three-year contract, they're basically asking for premium time. A security company should have an equipment that works without fail. If they realize that there's a product issue, they should do their due diligence to find a different company with better equipment and replace what their customers already bought. If there’s some changing that they'll do at this point, that will make me renew my contract. However, I can't see that happening. I only pay the balance so the contract’s been full, which I feel I got sold something that they didn’t deliver on. Bottom line, the customer was not the focus of this company.

    I’ve had Protection 1 for seven months on the two houses in California. I switched one of the services to the house here and I had to sign up for a two-year deal with them. The billing was very confusing but everything turned out as expected. Installing the units was fine. Then Protection 1 called when the installer was going to come out and verified. It was a nice experience. Now we can automatically turn on the alarm if we go to any place. We live in a retirement community and it’s really quiet. We’re up in Northern Arizona, in a subdivision that’s nice to be at, but we got the device because its best feature is the fire alarm. Everything was helpful and good, and when I’ve called their customer service, they’re really helpful if I have to shut off the alarm because I’m working on the house here.

    I have Protection 1 as home security provider for two years now. I have had ADT prior to that and I like Protection 1 better because it has better equipment for cheaper price. Everything was installed without a problem and the team was always friendly, very courteous, and helpful. I've used the online controls and I also have alarm.com, where I control my device from there. Since the security device has been set up, I definitely feel more secure. I like the fact that they buzz in if somebody sets the alarms. I’ve had a couple of alarms go off accidentally and as soon as it goes off, the team will come through.     Protection 1 is wonderful and awesome. I saw someone’s sign at their house and I figured that I would try them for myself. Everyone that came to the house was nothing but smiles. I've never seen people that were so happy and glad to help you. It was an experience I never had before. Anytime I called them, they're very speedy. If I have anything wrong with the system, they're out immediately. They either get to you that day if someone is already in the area or they come in that next day. Most places that I have had, it takes a week or so.

    If I make a mistake and the alarm goes off, I can’t get to the phone fast enough before someone has called. So, I am so thrilled with their service. I feel so safe.     When I originally got Protection 1's services at my old residence, everything was amazing. The technician was on top of it, educated and smart. I loved it. That's when I signed my contract. Then I moved and they set the service transfers. I have not been happy with my service since then. I didn't like the unit they installed and the technician that they sent. He was under-qualified, had no idea of what he was doing and he ruined everything. I had a bad experience with him. I got somebody out who did know what he was doing and he fixed everything. It put a bad taste in my mouth after that. Protection 1 doesn't care. I called with all my things and they blew me off. My service works and it's okay, and I'm locked in a contract so it is what it is.

    Our house was broken into one day. We were robbed of two thousand bucks worth of random stuff so we looked up some protection services. It was a friend of a friend who knew a guy from Protection 1 who originally set up our account and installed everything for us. When the actual technicians come out, they were always helpful and were good in where they placed everything and in communicating with us. But the last time, they put my front door sensor into this 70-year black arched front door we have, which I wasn’t too happy about. I didn't know if there was any other option in the matter to begin with. We've had Protection 1 for over two years. I like and use the phone app all the time. The convenience of being able to monitor and control the system from my phone anywhere definitely makes it more useful. It's almost a dealmaker for me.

    One thing is that we moved into a much safer neighborhood since we originally had the system. We needed it significantly more in our old neighborhood. There were a few times when the system went off. It could have been the dog or the window got blown by the wind. It made us feel a few times that we were paying for a whole lot of nothing because the police wouldn't respond. We would tell them to dispatch. Hours later, we would get home and they were never there. The service is expensive and with the way accounts are set, I have to buy all of the equipment from them. I had very little, if any, credit at all when I moved to transfer the whole thing. I had to buy all new stuff, and I couldn’t get out of my contract as an option. I couldn’t bring all my old equipment with me. It's either I didn't move or I had to give Protection 1 several hundred dollars. That whole experience was very frustrating.

    We still have the system and we're still on our contract. As far as the equipment and customer service, it's definitely a positive experience. I've always had a good experience with the technicians. Also, in our new house, we're on the upstairs and our two kids sleep on the main floor. The security system certainly makes me feel safer with them down there. But Protection 1 is failing on the other side of the spectrum when it comes to the response of the actual police force, the sheer cost and the lack of flexibility in holding an account.

    I've been with Protection 1 for two years and installing the security device has been good. There have been a few times we had to disable parts of the sensors within our home, and where police came when they shouldn't have. The police are responsive, but Protection 1 web and mobile controls usually don't matter in most situation because it gets triggered when I leave home and even if we turn it off, it's usually too late. So, I'd get a call from Protection 1 saying that someone has broken in and the police are being sent and I've had to look at home a few times to meet them. The only thing that is frustrating is that if only the web could help, but it's better to be safe than sorry, so I'm a happy customer for the most part.

    Scheduler called regularly to try to set up an appointment as all Telecom carriers are switching from 2G to 4G towers by December 2016. Eventually called scheduler back and agreed on appointment which fit my busy schedule. Prior to appt., I called to ask if tech was on his way, tech called me back immediately and confirmed ETA. Tech was very knowledgeable about the technology - he explained the console, internal motherboards inside the console, RJ32 connector purpose and also showed me how to get into the menu and dig into the depths of the set-up menus. Tech communicated with call center during set-up and diagnosed a wrong passcode given by the call center and caught and corrected the error made by their call center.

    Tech gave me a tip for the future how to tighten the loose casing on the console by affixing a screw on the side plate so as to stop the tamper alarm which sometimes activated due to the age of the console. Tech was very polite, respectful and professional. Took less than 30 minutes. Highly recommend this company and their service. Tech's name was Chris. He is a great value-add to your company.

There were problems with logistics and under-staffing, and that made a nightmare. It was just one person for the whole area. Parts weren't here when they came at all.     It's going on three years now that I have the service of Protection 1. I was looking for protection for my house because I used to be worried when I would leave, especially where I used to live before.     Protection 1 was recommended to me. The experience of installing the device was good. The instructions were detailed enough and straightforward. Also, it's nice that I am able to access and control my system at any time from anywhere through the mobile and web controls. It's very handy and convenient.     They have not been able to get their billing straight with me as far as having an automatic deduction on my credit card.     A neighbor of ours from the previous place we were living at was using Protection 1 and was happy with them so they recommended them to us. The installation of the device has been good, and the mobile controls have been pretty easy to use. We didn’t use the mobile controls in the place where we previously lived, but our service with them was really good. The only thing is that in the place we are now, we are using the mobile controls and we have had some issues where it’s not connecting even though it is an easy interface to use. Since they’re using cell technology, the cell signal in our area is weak. I’m not able to disarm the alarm with the mobile app from upstairs because it’s not able to connect to the panel, or sometimes the sensor will say that the sliding door is left open even though it is closed. Overall, our experience was good. I wish that their cell signal is better in the area or wherever that they can provide service in.

    Protection 1's service has been great up until lately. I called in and requested that somebody come out and label the areas on the keypad, and I told the guy to write it out and I'll write them on the thing to where I know what's what and I can read my own writing. He didn’t do that. He wrote it out himself and now when it goes "beep, beep, beep", I go to the same keypad to see what zone it is and it doesn’t even tell me where it’s on. I also told him that I wanted that when that door opens for there to be a steady beep going on, but that’s not happening down there. And then I also asked him to have somebody call me because I wanted a keypad put downstairs so my husband and I could see what was going on where the beep was coming from, and nothing yet.

    The installation was pretty easy. I just sat here waiting for the installer to get done. The first guy was very nice, and then the guy that sold me the system over here evidently quit. He gave his cell number in case I needed him, which was really cool, but then he said that he no longer worked for Protection 1 and he was trying to get me to go to his place. I called Protection 1's guys up and didn’t hear anything back from them.

    All the system does is chime now when the doors open and it doesn’t tell me where it's coming from. I feel like I'm paying for a service that I'm not able to utilize. Customer service said they’ll have somebody come out and check it out, but there are other things going on in my life that’s more of a priority than this. So I can't keep on calling Protection 1 and waiting around for somebody to do something and call me back. I need something done, and when they didn’t do what they were supposed to do, there's another thing that goes on in my life. Right now, I wouldn’t recommend them.

    I've been a Protection 1 user for almost three years and a half. However, installing it was one of the worst experiences of my life because they didn’t put the equipment that was supposed to be in the contract and I’ve been calling for them to get back to me so they can install it right. So it took them three months for somebody to call me. I told the gentleman who was helping me that I wanted to cancel but he told me it would be $700. He also tried sending me somebody to put the equipment, but he was also going to charge me $180. He was really disrespectful and he didn't want to help.

    Also, nobody has taken the time to call me and follow up what my needs are when I called and told them to remove the panels because they put them too low and my four year old son's taking them all the time. I’m not happy with the service - I'm just paying for a service that they are not providing. I do want to cancel but paying $700 for cancellation is too much. They are about to lose a customer.

    I've been happy with my Protection 1 alarm system. In fact, I brought it with me when I moved and I've had it for three years now. I'm in a small gated community and the people here are either older or are students and physicians at at the medical center nearby. It's a very quiet community. Everyone here seems to have ADT, but I've never even thought of going to ADT. I just brought my Protection 1 and the technician came out and installed the system for me because they had to change all of the equipment. But I don't use the system extensively, just primarily at night, because I have a large dog, and if anybody knocks or anything, he goes crazy. So I don't have to set the system during the day. We've just bought the house not too long ago, and we had extremely huge problems with Protection 1 for about six months of being here. We've only been here less than a year and it's been horrible getting it connected. I took two days off work to get it installed and no one showed up, also way past when the service was scheduled the second time. The alarm kept going off. They charged me for a part that nobody told me they're going to. Other than that, our experience has been fine. After having to call and talk to numerous people, I got most of it resolved. If we weren't under a contract, we would have switched because this is unacceptable for the amount of the money we pay. I expressed it and I asked the manager to call me, who never did.     I use Protection 1 in my office. The installation there was good, while the one at home could have been a little better. There were some parts missing which their technician didn't come with, but I ended up getting a whole new system, a different type of system which turned out to be better because it was a bit more updated technology-wise. Although it wasn't what I had expected, in the end, it turned out okay. I use the mobile controls all the time, and it's convenient.

    I had my front door replaced about a month and a half ago, and I had to remove a sensor and put it back on the new front door. My experience with that was a little less than I had expected. Normally Protection 1 is pretty good at customer service, but the guy that I was placed with on the phone wasn't enunciating and I had to have him repeat a couple of times. At one point, I asked him to stop and just talk slow because I really didn't understand what he was saying. But other than that, I've enjoyed my time with Protection 1, and the reason why I used them in my home is because I've had a pleasant experience at the office.

    Years ago, we switched from our other security system to Protection 1. The old one locked us into a 5-year contract which was annoying, and we could never reach anybody when we needed to. When stuff broke, we were charged ridiculous amounts of money to replace it. We haven't had any of those problems with Protection 1.

    Everything was fine when the device was installed at our old house. When it got installed at our new house, however, we were overcharged some things. I had to call a couple of times to get it taken care of. I've been meaning to call Protection 1 since we moved as I can't access our alarm system through my app anymore. I have to arm it on the actual panel in the house, which is super annoying. I have tried contacting their customer service and I sat on hold too long and I gave up, that's why it hasn't gotten taken care of yet.

    Before we moved, the mobile access was super convenient. I never had to worry about forgetting to set the alarm because I could do it from my phone. I didn't have to worry about leaving it unarmed for a babysitter or a dog walker to come into the house. I could disarm and arm it myself from wherever I was and that was awesome. I would like the apps to be working for me.

We have the do-it-yourself device although we haven't started on it yet since we're working on a bunch of other home projects. Plus, we need to call and have someone walk us through it because we're having some issues with it, like the sensors and our doorjamb. What's frustrating now is that my understanding was we wouldn't be charged until the system is actually up and running. But they already took three months’ worth out of my checking account without letting me know, so I had to call and try to get that money back.     There were a couple of break-ins in the neighborhood and I feel safer having Protection 1. Also, I got a little one that's home and in case he opens the door, I can hear the beep. It was a combination of the equipment that they offered with the plan that I got and the monthly fee and the coverage that I chose them over other providers. The installation was easy but I did have some equipment fail after a couple of weeks. They came out quickly and took care of it. Getting hold of them is easy too. They always answer within three rings and I always get a person.

    Remote access is vital. I have the control on my phone and from time to time I turn it on and off from there. But there's one thing, they should not charge extra for the monitoring of additional sensors. I completely understand paying extra for the sensors themselves but all they're doing is monitoring the home-based station. It doesn't make sense to pay extra. Other than that, I like it overall.

Then when we had enough and switched services, we received two more bills AFTER THAT DATE. Do not waste your time or your trust with these people.     When I moved in, the previous owners had Protection 1 so I went with them. When the technicians installed the device, it was easy. Plus I like the web and mobile controls. I use them all the time. However, the only sensors I got from them are for my doors. So if the bad guy slides the door, I'm good to go. But if he slides some of the windows, I'm pretty much toast. Also, trying to find a decent number to call their customer service was a pain in the butt. They have all that crap at the website but all I want is a simple number. "Call this for the help desk." That's what I'm looking for. If they could do that, it would be great.

    Since I had the system installed, the kids now ask to go out. I've had the system for two years and haven't had much experience with other companies. However, I do know that ADT provides better service than Protection 1. The house I moved in this time had ADT and they provided downstairs window sensors on all windows. Protection 1 gave me door sensors and a motion detector, too, which ADT did the same. So Protection 1 may be lacking in some departments. I've also been looking at Time Warner and they offer that live streaming stuff that lets you look into your house real time which is nice versus the still shots I get from Protection 1.

However, we had difficulty during installation because one of the products wasn’t done on the initial install, and the techs didn’t realize it until they were gone. Apparently, it was on back order. I told them I didn’t want it anymore but my husband said he would deal with it, so they came when he was here. I was real specific on what I was trying to do, but the guy that was taking the order basically signed me up for a totally different system, so I had to call back and reorder everything again. When they came out the second time, they had everything correct. The system is all in and has been working okay, but back when I moved in, it really sucked. It was really a major hassle to switch with Protection 1 and to stay with them but we did anyway because my kids are used to all their keypads and know how they work.     I've had Protection 1 as my security provider for two and a half years and their representatives have been fine. But at first, installing the device didn't work really well and it kept having problems, so they had to come back and do it a different way. And when I look at my phone, it shows that all the windows are "closed" except the window in the master bedroom and I don't understand why. I haven't really checked if it's working because one time, it was open. So you could actually open and close it while I got it set. And the way it's set up now, if I open a window or open a door, it will just bypass it.

    We've had Protection 1 for eight years. I had their system installed in two separate homes and both were great. The second one, they had to come in and redo an old system and update it. The engineers were awesome who came out to do the leg work. They showed their badges before they came in the house and wore booties. They did a thorough walk-through and gave me their card if I ever had any questions. They were also not pushy, unlike my TV provider that calls me all the time and try to get me upgrade my package. Protection 1 understood and only did what's best for me and my family. Also, when I made appointments, they were really nice. When I moved homes, Mike, the same guy I'd talk to, has also been really helpful. He put our thing on hold for four months because we were doing a renovation. So, instead of closing it down and reopening me, he kept me as an old client to save me a bunch of money.

    In addition, if we're traveling and I have somebody come in to walk the dog out, I use the mobile app to turn the alarm off so I don't have to give away my code to people. Anything over the internet can be a little scary sometimes and you never know who can see your stuff but I use it, so it clearly doesn't bother me that much. I love the convenience of it.     I've had Protection 1 for so many years and everything was going all right until I moved in August. My place went up a little bit so I moved. But since then, the payment amount is incorrect. They withdrew from my account a couple of hundred dollars without my knowledge and they're not supposed to bill me that way. I have to be calling to get it straightened out each month so I have to come over online automatic payment to make payment myself. Each time I call, the people I talked to were so rude and hung up on me. I called back to complain but I know it is going nowhere. Each time I get another rep, they say they're gonna do something but nothing happened.

    I called the guy who did the contract and he said he's going to take me off the payment and get me set up. But then, he tells me a different price. When I called back, they said they can't fix it because it's not usually done with that price. I've been charged $10 extra and it's supposed to be $10 less. That's still not straightened out and I can't get nobody. I’m not so happy with them at all for the last several months. At this point, I wouldn't recommend them but they're not that bad.

The installers all did was come out and change the panel. I know a lot of people in our area don’t have security, but with Protection 1, I feel better to lie down and go to sleep at night. It is a mechanism to have for me to feel safe whenever I leave and come back. Because if I leave and I set it, and I come back at night or anytime and it’s not on, then I know not to come in because something went haywire. So at least not come in without somebody else with me.     We've been pleased with Protection 1. We've moved into our new house in Visalia and had a couple of break-ins around the neighborhood. We thought maybe it's time we did something. My daughter already has Protection 1 so we used them too. And then my wife died and I got remarried. My second wife used to be with ADT. What I found disappointing about Protection 1 was I know that I was in contract for two years, but since my wife had ADT, I wanted to drop Protection 1. They wouldn't let me and that was frustrating. So I just continued to pay for it. When we decided to have a house of our own and we moved, we kept Protection 1 because my wife could already drop ADT because her contract was up. Obviously when circumstances change and you have a death, I think Protection 1 should have been a little more understanding of that.

    Other than that, it has worked out really well. We've filed a couple of false alarms, though, because we got a couple of dogs that go in and out of the house and set things off. They readjusted it a little bit but it went off again. So, what we do now is just put STAY, and that way if somebody opens the door, it'll still go off.

    I've had a hard experience with Protection 1. When I moved into my new home, it was existing. It was very difficult to acquire the system and to take over the contract. Once I got in, I didn't receive what I was promised. So then I was calling different people, trying to get it straightened out. That was the first year I was in there and they had to switch out the channel. They didn't switch that and I wanted the panel upstairs. They wanted to do something different because it was a wireless. I didn't want the wireless in my home, I wanted to hardwire it but they said they couldn't do it. It took about a year before they put it in there.

    Then there were issues back and forth. I was getting charged for things that I didn't have - stuff that wasn't working. They had to go switch this out, and they would take a while. Sometimes they come very late for the appointment or wouldn't make it in some instances. I received credit but it's just difficult. Now, I have a hole in the wall which I called about and told them that somebody needs to come out and repair it. They said they don't do that, then they said they're sending somebody. But then after that, I didn't hear from them.

    I also put the whole wireless system on the other rental property I have and it's from a different branch. We're having issues with the batteries and some other stuff but we got that situated. It's better over there than at my house and that one works better. It's like night and day. You call them there, usually Johnny-on-the-spot, they talk to you and get things resolved. But with the other branch I am dealing with, it's been as task ever since I started with them.

    The lady that originally signed me up with Protection 1 was awesome, prompt and explained everything. All that she promised happened, except, that the system is failing a few times and it's beyond her control. The system crashed three times and Protection 1 came to try and fix it. They were very nice but they couldn't get it fixed. Every six to eight weeks, they run a test on it. It comes out bad and then they have to come back out. We ended up putting in a whole new system -- upgrading it from the old system.

    Protection 1 is a great company. We have been using them for 16 years, and they have provided the service that we like. They're very reasonable. Our security device is not difficult to work with. I've had a couple of false alarms, which I'm mainly the one setting it off accidentally. They called, asked me for my code and asked me questions to make sure I was okay. Since we set up our system, I feel confident when I leave my home and that it'll wake me up if something crazy happens at night.     We've got Protection 1 in two different houses and both have been great. The major thing I like about them is it's wireless so I don't have to have a telephone line to the house. Being able to access and control their system anytime and anywhere is very convenient to ensure that the residence is still secure. It's what I'm looking for. But when we moved in in our new apartment, we didn't have that so Protection 1 had to do the installation for my room.     I'm not happy with Protection 1 at all and I'm looking at other companies. They don’t want to work with me, let alone discuss the issue. They're not worried about customers anymore and they've lost the mojo. They used to be customer-oriented, something that you could count on and work with you. They'd usually answer within three rings if you call them. Now, six or seven rings, you're allowed to be put on hold numerous times. They're not the company that I started with ten years ago. They keep saying five years but they didn't update their files and got the files all screwed up. They sent their manager out to my house to talk to me. I was generally nice to him but they didn't do crap. I would have expected a little more action and a little less talk. I would highly recommend anybody to go somewhere else.

    My experience with Protection 1 has not been a very good one. I've been a client for over five years. They came and installed everything. I was moving to a new home and they told me that I wouldn't have to pay when I moved, which was a complete lie, because I ended up paying more money when I moved again. I paid them and afterwards, I got a bill for $300 and I refuse to pay all in one shot because I can't afford do to that, so I'm paying them $100 at a time. Now, they keep being a pain and call me all the time. When the contract's up, I probably won't use them anymore. It doesn't make it a wonderful experience when somebody is hassling you about something they lied to you about.

The only thing that I didn't like is when I moved here and I didn't know where I wanted to place the keypad. I didn't know if I wanted it placed at the front door or the bedroom. There was already one here at the bedroom, so they placed it there instead of putting it in the living room. We had changed our mind after that, but they had already left.     I’ve used Protection 1 ever since it was BellSouth and I've had it installed twice. The first house had the system in it. They swapped out the board and I added a modem for extra protection because it’s online. Their tech seemed knowledgeable, didn't tear up my house and was very professional. Protection 1 has stepped up a bit and went wireless on some of their sensors which made it a lot easier on the installation but it had some flaws in certain areas like the back door didn't have a sensor on it at all. I have used Alarm.com and I get e-mails every time my alarms set and unset. Also, I can download a picture at any given time or somebody walks by the motion sensor. Luckily, I haven't had any break-ins but I love the system.

    The only bad experience I ever had with Protection 1 was with the salesman who set me up. I told him I was paying $30 a month. With the new system come a new price and I couldn't believe the price he quoted me. I said, "Well, can you e-mail that to me?" Three days went by and he wanted me to sign an electronic contract. When I signed it, he finally e-mailed me confirmation on how much my bill was going to be. And then, I got the first bill and it was triple what he sent in. I called up the corporate office and explained it in. I shared the e-mail with them, they honored it and I'm happy.

    We first got Protection 1 eight years ago at our old house and the installation went smoothly. Then we were due for an upgrade and that was a nightmare. They had a heck of a time making everything work. We moved to a new house this year and took the system with us. It was once again a nightmare. We had them come out three different times to make it work. And they're coming back out again today to work on it because it's going off in the middle of the night for some reason. When the system works, it works well but getting it to work has been a nightmare. I missed several days of work meeting the tech sent to work on it.     I’ve been with Protection 1 for a couple of years now and they've been great. I had them in my old house, and I continued with them when I moved to my new one. I have the wireless security and my only problem with it is that sometimes it gets loose, starts falling off, and I have to tape it back again. Recently, I discovered something with one of the sensors. When I open the door, I no longer hear, “Garage door open.” And then I would have to fix it again by gluing it back properly and pushing it in so the sensors would come out. But other than that, it’s been okay.

    I am the previous owner of a restaurant that I originally purchased from an existing owner and now recently sold to another owner. With the original transfer, I was never told as a buyer to fill out any paperwork or to do anything to transfer the account. Five months later, I get a note from the old owner that Protection 1 is saying they owe them for all 5 months. I attempted to cancel the service but they wouldn't allow it even though it was a new owner. They were trying to charge for now 6 months of services that weren't provided as I didn't even know about the service and didn't have it on.

    Now I sold the business and this is the only vendor that I am still having issues with getting transferred over to the new owner. They will not provide any information to the new owner and will not let me do anything from my end. They are asking for the full remaining 2 years of service payments to cancel account. The new owner even wants the service and the customer service team is still making it near to impossible to transfer with not returning emails/phone calls to the "only people who can access that information". I was once told by one of the phone reps that the service was cancelled only to find out later that she had no clue what she was talking about and nothing was cancelled. Protection 1 is a horrible company to work with and I would never get in business with them. Oh and the service they provided was almost non-existent and yet I still had to pay for it because of a contract. Ridiculous.

    We had Protection 1 in Arizona as our security system and when we moved here three years ago, we went ahead and got them here too both for our house and for our business. We always hire the guys to come out to install all the equipment, so we didn't have to do it. We attempted to install alarm.com on our cell phones but it completely fell through on that process to make it all work. We do have the remote controls, though.

    We've had Protection 1 in all of our homes and for me and my husband, we always feel one step more confident and safe that our home and our dogs are safe while we're gone. When we're home at night and especially if my husband's traveling, I feel much safer. In addition, whenever we've called to get the techs out here for a glitch or something that has gone haywire, they've been very responsive. So far, it appears it's always been the same couple of guys who have our neighborhood, and it's good to feel there's that sense of commitment.     I’ve been with Protection 1 for a long time. I really like them. It was a couple backward and forwards with installing the alarm when I first moved to the new home here in Spring Hill. We wanted the basic alarm, but we have to go with the most expensive one because the house was not wired. The other issue was that when we first got them installed, both panels had motion detectors. When we moved around, the panel will turn on. We had them come back to fix an issue, and they had to replace one of the panels. Now none of the two panels have the motion detector. When I called, they said that they didn’t have the motion detector to save battery. I said I had it that’s why I’m asking for it. They sent another technician who said that there’s no way to set it up. I still don’t understand how I had it and now suddenly it can’t be set up, but other than that, I trust them.
