I walked over to my local Benjamin Moore store a few minutes ago. There were several people already waiting. The store was under staffed. After 10 minutes both over worked people came to the counter with negative energy. I only needed some touch up paint and I brought some paint chips to match the color. The employee asked what king of paint do I need. I said look at the chips, you tell me, you're the expert here. He told me to go somewhere else!

I’m pretty disappointed with the Lethbridge Alberta Canada Benjamin Moore store’s staff, I recently repainted the entire interior of my house with the intentions of simply using the identical paint colour. I bought the original Benjamin Moore containers with all the necessary paint formula. It was not until afterwards thinking that I got the identical paint I simply went ahead and painted. It was really odd all the paint that I bought was slightly off in matching with the original colour, but to my horror the new paint has a slightly different paint formula. I inquired at the store, what’s up, why the discrepancy and I was told Benjamin Moore periodically changes their formula for a given paint colour. I wished the staff would have disclosed this critical information in advance, I am not at all happy when I have always considered Benjamin Moore represents quality and that should include quality service.

In June, I had the interior of my house painted on the 1st floor. It took 4-5 coats of BM Regal Select Matte Chantilly Lace to cover a medium brown when it should have taken 2 coats at the most. In addition to the watery viscosity of the paint, the painter would have to strain the paint to prevent most of the 'boogers' with still a few left over. About 1 1/2 weeks into the project I called the store, Dugan's Paint, I purchased the paint from. They sent their dept head over who refunded the painter's $ since he was using the appropriate equipment to paint with. I asked for further costs to be refunded because of his time and the condition of my walls. Silence.

A week later, a rep from Dugan's called. He with the BM rep wanted to stop by to discuss 'the issue'. They also brought a new gallon of BM to compare. Same viscosity...thin and watery. The BM rep told me she came because there had been a formula change 1 1/2 years before and wanted to make sure the paint was OK. IMO to cover up the paint issue, the Dugan's rep and BM rep accused my painter of being a 'liar and a thief' in my home to cover up the paint issue with no proof. I've used the painter for 19 years who is 'par excellence'. It wasn't a bad batch. I purchased a quart of BM Regal from another BM store in another town which had same issues...thin and runny. (please see my review on Google under Dugan's Paint, Osage Beach, Mo.) I've lost $12,000. My painter has lost the extra time because he bid the project by the job...not time.

Good quality paint! I don't recommend to buy white base in any product. I'm a 7 years painter and I always need 1 more coat for white base. I don't have that problem in other brands. It is a BIG loss when you end up painting a 4th coat in a big house because it not cover. Extra hours of work and extra paint. For me it is not worth it for the money I pay. Sico, Sherwin, Betonel, MF cover way better for a better price.

I bought Benjamin Moore pool paint. The color was fantastic but the quality of the paint was poor. It was pure water and took 4 time to paint the pool to see the paint even. After the two months the paint stared bubbling I called the company and Mr ** put a lot of excuses to resolve the problem and sent me back to Amazon because I bought the paint from them. The remedy or advice I got from Benjamin Moore was to empty the pool and repaint the pool again. That was the only help I could get. My advice for everyone is to please not to use that paint. Here is the info: INSL-X Waterborne, Semi-Gloss Acrylic Pool Paint, Royal Blue, 1 Gallon.

After using Benjamin Moore paint on every room of my house over the last 6 years I am now on the kitchen. I needed more ceiling paint and a fresh colour for the walls. When I go to buy it I am told they have a new formula but I am sold the equivalent to what I was using. My 2 year old BM ceiling paint gets the first coat done and a start on the second. Open the new stuff. It is like yogurt. Directions do not say I can thin. I don’t. 10 min of rolling my new roller turns to something that looks like cardboard. The nap is saturated and all stuck together and has to be cleaned. By the time I finish it is that way again. Cutting with a brush? Why is the paint falling off my brush? My face looked like the loser at an unprotected paint ball game. I ask myself “why do companies change a good product?” I can think of 3 answers.

      1. to make it better
      2. to make it safer

      3. to cut the manufacturing cost

I think the answer is totally clear this time. #3 for sure. I write this review today as the snow outside the window reflects on my crap ceiling showing every roller mark on the new Benjamin Moore formula side of my kitchen. The 2 year old paint looks perfect. Alas I will repaint with a different brand. I suspect the bean counter that reformulated the paint will get a big bonus for the reduced manufacturing cost and the VP of sales will get fired because of the drop in sales. Benjamin Moore If you’re looking to see where your customers went go look at your competitors' doors and look for the people with the painted faces lined up outside.

I am extremely disappointed in Benjamin Moore and their representative Scott **. A local hardware offered a tutorial on deck remodeling including how to apply Benjamin Moore products. Never once did the representative state it was her personal opinion and that she was not a representative of Benjamin Moore. In fact, Benjamin Moore was tagged in all of her presentation material. The advice was followed and within months the stain flacked and cracked. Scott refused to provide remedy insisting it was not Benjamin Moore's problem. Horribly disappointed in this representation and failure to assist.

I recently paid $350 on Benjamin Moore paint. It is the first time I bought this paint as I normally use Sherwin-Williams but the store was closed and I was in a hurry to get the paint for the professional painters I had hired. They painted the ceiling and the trim with the paint and were very upset as it would glop and not spread evenly. It looked horrible and I had to run out and buy Sherwin-Williams paint to do the walls which turned out great. I had to pay extra to have them paint the ceiling and the trim again. I went to the store and let them know that there were issues with the paint and that I wanted my money back. They said the paint seemed fine and they could send it to be analyzed but only if I didn't post any bad reviews. Clearly they don't care about the quality of their paint if they will only send it for analysis if someone doesn't post a bad review. I will never again use this paint.
