I have a dangerous ground wasp problems. I explained on the phone, "They have stung my dogs and it is an emergency situation." We can go out our backdoor and there are 1000s of wasp. Scary. The lady said, "They will call you soon." 2 hours later I called back and a different lady said "So sorry it can take 24-48 hours." It's been over that and if or when they do decide to call, they will not have my business. Poor customer service. You would think If you want to run a business and actually stay in business you would actually work. Looking at a lot of the reviews. It seems pretty common practice. DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME. I wish I would have looked at reviews prior to wasting my time.

Two weeks ago I was quoted a special price of $77 for initial pest treatment. I made an appointment which I had to cancel because I was ill. Later that afternoon the Orkin man called to say that he was on the way. Obviously no communication! So I rescheduled. Got a message from the Orkin man the day before the initial service, to call him. I called and left several messages throughout the day. No return call. Called the corporate number only to be told that they're sorry, that Orkin doesn't do business that way, that they're sure he'll call me back. No call back. The day he was supposed to show up was a no-call, no-show.

Finally after calling Orkin for 2 weeks, the Orkin man shows up! Now this guy says that I need a different treatment and says the price will now be $200! I asked if it would be possible to make payments. He said that he'll have another guy come over or call that afternoon to make payment arrangements for us. Once again a no-call, no-show, and more days of my calling them. Finally I decided to call Terminix and had the man come over the next day, for $104! With the way the economy is, I can't understand why Orkin wasn't chasing ME down for my business! I feel like an idiot for wasting 2 weeks calling a company which apparently doesn't need customers!

The ad says, "Same day service." However, the manager tells me, "That is only for new customers." Well, isn't that swell? I live in West Wichita and I can only get one person to service the contract. I told the manager I would like to have another person service my home and he tells me she is the only one that is assigned to my zip code. I tell him I have to call her 2 to 3 times to get her on the phone, then once I get her on the phone she says she can not come out until next week to service my home. Poor scheduling and terrible communication. I expected a lot more from Orkin.

Had Orkin come to my home for bed bugs. Paid over $1700 for them to start treatment. Had to contact them the day of treatment as they did not supply ALL of the proper instruments to assist with treatment (i.e: Mattress covers). I was forced to sign a contract to pay $160.00 for every other month for additional service stating that this must be done due to the type of pest. First additional treatment the service tech was at my home for approx. 20 min and doctored the service report stating he was there an hour!! I have been calling for 4 days to speak with the office manager no return call back YET! It says that they get rid of your problem guarantee 100%. They make it the customer's responsibility in order for that to be possible by making sign a contract. ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY AND MAKE YOU SIGN A CONTRACT!! Very dissatisfied.

I phoned Orkin at 8 a.m., from an ad promising same day service if called before 2 p.m., and after their explaining the process, and my providing a credit card for payment, I was promised a return call within 24 hours to set up service. Next day I called again to find out why no one had contacted me to set up service and the very polite sales individual placed me on hold and connected me with the service provider, who promptly informed me that it would be 4 weeks before they could come. We are dealing with an infestation of some sort of flying ants, IN OUR HOME, and are expected to just live with it for the next month. I found them to be dishonest and unreliable!!

Started calling the local branch on Aug 17th, we have rats in our garage and around chicken coop. The gal promised me a tech would call to set up. No call. Called almost daily for a week, always the same story, and sometimes they didn't answer the phone, so left messages. Sometimes I was trunked over to their corporate office which I thought great, they will light a fire under their arses. Not so. When my 5-year-old grandson got bit, that was the last straw, went right to corporate. They assured me over and over they would be out, but no calls, no show. Finally I found a local company, and the guy was out within 24 hours, set traps and baits and would be by either every day or every other. I BELIEVE HIM!

I called Orkin and gave corporate a good tongue lashing, and they wanted to have a 3-way call with the branch manager. "No thanks" I said, "this is YOUR problem." And from reading all the complaints online, I should have read them first, but as Orkin is a national brand, figured they were dependable?? Shoot, sometimes it pays to stay local, screw these big nationals who spend tens of thousands on ads and then don't keep any promises. I am going to write to Orkin corporate as well and advise all of you to do the same. Do you think they read these boards, obviously not!!! Power in numbers. Maybe if we all gang up on corporate, they will be forced to stop their 2-hour martini lunches and actually do something. This company is a joke, and they need to be forced to either do their jobs or close up shop for good. Would give our local guys a lot more business too!!!

On their website, for my area, they say they will spray in the same day. This is obviously not true. I did this, thinking that if I paid off the total balance in 90 days, then I would not pay any interest. Well, the fine print on the paperwork said that I needed to pay off before the first payment became due. I ended up paying off within 90 days and paying $135 in interest. I probably will never use their service again since I feel like I was lied to, or that the Orkin representative didn't know what they were talking about. Either way, don't sign up for 90 days same as cash.

The Orkin termite inspector told us that we had mice droppings in our crawl space that required extermination. We had never seen any signs of mice in the 10+ years that we have lived in our house. But because we do not go into the crawl space and he was an Orkin employee, we believed him. He scheduled a treatment by the Orkin pest control exterminator for three days later. For those three days we were FREAKED OUT by the thought that we had mice in our house.

The exterminator arrived on time, sprayed the interior and exterior with Cy-Kick for bugs and inspected the crawl space. He found no evidence of mice and said that the termite inspector mistook really old roach droppings for mice droppings. He explained that mice droppings are considerably larger than roach droppings. The roach droppings were dark so they must be old. Therefore, he did not have to lay mouse glue traps. We were totally misled into purchasing the pest control service by the Orkin Termite Inspector.

Considering my appt wasn't until 4 pm that afternoon, he called at 8:30 am and said this was the only time available. He had to come so I rushed there to meet him. He already had the outside done and was sitting in his truck. The receipt was already wrote out. I gave him a hundred dollar bill and he never fixed it on the receipt. I thought he just forgot and it was an honest mistake because when I gave him the 100 dollars he told me that he didn't have change but he'd apply it to my next bill. Well that was Saturday morning.

I get a call today and it is Monday regarding my card on file. I told the lady I already paid 100 in cash and she put me on a brief hold and came back saying that I gave the exact change and even had Kolby on the line... He lied and lied some more. I'm not really mad over 16 dollars and he obviously needed it more than me and my family. I'm mad that he lied about it and he stole it. All he had to do was ask! How many more people is he doing this kind of stuff to??? That is what makes me mad. Needless to say I WILL NEVER ALL OF THEM BACK INTO MY HOME. What are they going to take next - my kids tablet, my phone? I mean really you're suppose to be a professional but do not carry yourselves that way and if this is the type of people Orkin allow to work for them then I DO NOT NEED NOR WANT THEIR SERVICES! I AM A COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER AND WANT ALL MY MONEY BACK!

Now we have a ground hornet problem. Orkin says it's a honey bee problem and to call a local beekeeper. It's obvious these are not honeybees but some kind of hornet. This was per the contract for six visits, with these costs associated with the first three visits. They ran an add saying my area was discounted and the woman has no knowledge of it. How is a company asking for nearly $600 dollars for three visits? For $300 upfront they better be willing to see why because they have the Orkin man on television? I say buyer be aware and call around your local exterminating companies to avoid being ripped off by Orkin. I am a renter for three years at my current apartment. We have had the same Orkin person the entire time. I have two cats. The past year or so I began to noticed my cats had an issue with vomiting often enough that I noticed a pattern. I took them to the Vet to make sure they were not sick. The Vet and I discussed the possible causes. (Stress, type of food, etc.) I changed their diet and monitored them for stress related issues. Things got better for a few months. After the Orkin extermination they were vomiting again. I really did not relate it to Orkin being the cause until I became ill myself. At that time I notified the landlord with my concerns. I simply asked if there was an alternative to spraying liquid toxins all over the house and that I was will to help pay for it.

The extermination day came and I guess the landlord spoke with the Orkin guy regarding my concerns. They knocked on the door, I answered it and the pest(ty) guy replied "So what is your problem now?" On other occasions I felt he was rude, condescending, and appeared to always have a chip on his shoulder. Needless to say the conversation escalated negatively from there. He stated "It's impossible that what I'm using is making you sick, I can show you the MSDS sheet to prove the amount of poison I'm using is too low for that to happen. I can show you the MSDS sheet." He repeated this so many times that I had to stop him and demand he stop talking to me because the conversation is getting heated. He then tells me the conversation isn't heated. Not only is he telling me I'm wrong, now he's telling me how I feel. I can go on and on, but I won't.

I ended it by telling him "The only thing you need to say to me is the name of the pesticide you're using." He gave me some name I couldn't understand so I asked him to spell it. Either he doesn't know how to spell what he's using or he just made up something, because I couldn't find it anywhere on the world wide web. I told him "I know what a MSDS is, and by the way you're saying it incorrectly, because the S in the abbreviation means sheet. So what you're actually saying is Material Safety Data Sheet Sheet."

At this point he appeared to be outraged. He yelled, "I will bring you a copy of it." That was almost three months ago and I am still waiting and it's almost time for his next visit. I don't know if he thought I was trying to get money from the company or what. His customer service leaves a lot to be desired, and I wonder if he treats everyone the same way or is it because I am middle aged single mom. In any case he had to leave without drenching my house with his liquid poison.

After having the local office manager come to our house, he crawled under the house and came back with what amounted to a sales call. We agreed that his guys would come out and redo the poly sheeting under the house to help with the moisture situation. His team showed up the next week and spent two days stripping the old poly and doing a wrap-up to the vents.

They did this at no charge to me so we're going to continue our business relations for a while. I'm writing this because I figure that if I'd take the time to ** about bad service - I ought to be man enough to tell it when they do something right.

    Original Review: June 25, 2015

I had Orkin to come out and look at our termite situation - not to rid us of them but to treat our home to keep the termites away. They advised me that I needed a moisture control system in the crawlspace. We bought this system and they installed what I thought was a dehumidifier and vents. I get an invoice from them every year to maintain two services - termite control and moisture control. The service tech that just checked our house says that there is no dehumidifier and the plastic poly sheet is covering less than half of the crawlspace. The Manager, if the local office will not talk with me, he sent a tech out who basically told me that there's nothing that he can do until the manager approves the work. I've called the local office and the regional office with no results.

After dealing with the Lincoln, and sometimes Union Branch a few times to schedule an appointment, we decided on June 19th. Even after having a date established, I received a phone call from a man telling me that he would be there the next day. I told him that I was confused because I thought they were coming on June 19th. He said he would find out what was going on and call me back. He never did call me back. So, on the 18th, I called Orkin to make sure they were coming and everything was a go! They were doing termite treatment on our lake house which is an hour from our house. Not only did I drive out there on the 18th to get everything ready for the person because I could not be there first thing in the morning, but I also drove out there on the 19th to meet with them.

My son had a swim meet and I was very busy with this. It was very difficult for me to find time to make it out there. So when I did drive out there to meet them and they were not there, I was incredibly angry. When I called them the receptionist was unsure why they were not there. She went to find out and they told her they forgot to call me to tell me they were unable to make it. Not only did I waste 4 hours of driving, but I also wasted money on gas! Needless to say, I have switched to another company. I would appreciate being paid for the amount of gas I wasted! They have serious communication issues at the Lincoln branch.

I called Orkin for the termite at my home. The sales person inspected and suggested the injection treatment they offer instead of the tent. But 2 former employees from Orkin had advised me not to do the treatment, but to do the tent, because the wood injection treatment is not accurate. I explained to my husband and the salesperson about the advice I was given. And the salesperson said that he guaranteed the termite treatment would work and that I was mislead about the treatment Orkin offered. I did not want the wood treatment but the salesperson convinced my husband that I was wrong and the best thing was the wood treatment. My husband fell for his lies and we ended up paying $1200.00 for the treatment that never worked.

Every 3 to 4 months I kept complaining about the wings and termites I kept finding, and Orkin kept coming back applying the treatment over and over and advised my husband and I that we needed to give it time to work. Orkin kept coming back many times and applying treatment and buying time. The last treatment was about 7 months ago and we continue with the same problem and a new salesperson came to my house to sell us the tent. And stated that the tent would be $1949.00 and they will give a $500 credit. But what they did was they raised the price to give the discount.

I called 3 companies for estimates and all 3 gave me a price between $980.00 and $1400. Orkin gave me $1449.00 with the discount. I feel they stole $1200.00 from us because they promised something that never worked and where's the warranty and where's the money we paid. Orkin kept coming to our house and treating areas and telling us we need to give it time. And I realized now that they were just buying time. I want a refund or the tent.

And around the time of 2 in the afternoon, the guy who was supposed to come to the house calls me and says that he was delayed with another client, and seeing if it was okay to come out to the house or to be rescheduled. What made me angry was that he could have called saying that he would be a little late or was tied up with a job and couldn't do it that day. I went to the doctor even though everyone said it was chiggers & it would feel awful, but go away in time. The doctor I saw said it looked more like bedbugs to him, so I inspected my home & found no signs of those nasty little critters. The next morning, I thought I saw something on my box spring, so I called Orkin to take a look. They were helpful on the phone and were able to come out same day. Two guys came in within the time window they had given me. They inspected my home, and said they had seen it too, playing off my fears and gave me a quote of over $1000 for just my side of my duplex. I tore my house apart, cleaning and washing everything, driving myself crazy.

Luckily, I got a second opinion from ABC. The first inspector came and told me there was no evidence of bedbugs. I didn't believe her; I thought maybe she just couldn't see them. She asked the bedbug operations manager to come take a look just to double check her. He couldn't find any signs of them either. They both said my bites looked like an extreme reaction to chiggers. I almost got evicted and/or ended up shelling out $1000 that I don't have to fix a problem that didn't exist. I realize that the doctor who is uneducated in parasites made it really easy for the crooks at Orkin to prey on me. These guys should not be trusted! Always get a second opinion!

We just this recently contracted with Orkin for rodent control. We knew we had an infestation. Treatment usually includes killing the rats and building them out. Orkin was supposed to replace our crawl space vents (which needed replacing anyway), install flashing at certain points along the roof (a small infestation in attic), and close up any small openings. Except for the flashing, they followed through. The first inspector said there were two large openings in the "builders gaps." When they came to do the work, the technician responsible for that repair could not see a problem. After the tech and his supervisor (the first inspector) discussed it they said someone over the supervisor would come the next day and inspect.

The next day this person came with the same technician and looked around. They installed a thin metal strip at one point and put some kind of foam at a few small openings. They were present less than an hour. We were charged $4,000 for this, the original charge for the exclusion. The supervisor found it impossible to itemize a bill showing why it should cost that much. We have had a grandfathered-in pest control contract with Orkin since we bought the house. Every year they inspect for termites and powderpost beetles for a small annual fee. They also checked for moisture in the crawl space. There were no moisture problems all that time until recently when an inspector found condensate and beginning of mold. So Orkin replaced the insulation in the crawl pace and sprayed borate on the wood and laid a moisture barrier.

We refinanced the house a few months ago and an independent inspector agreed that there was a minor concern with moisture. So we had Orkin take care of it. Now, when the rodent project started, the inspector said the moisture was high in the crawl space. So they resprayed the wood and rehung some loose insulation (no charge). They originally installed the insulation. They also left a moisture monitor that continually reads in the 70s, which is probably right because Orkin insists the crawlspace vents remain open despite our living in a high humidity area. They have suggested that we "may need" a de-humidification system installed. For all this work we were charged $7,000. Tired of going round and round about the cost we finally paid them in full, both not to have to go on with the cost issue and to avoid the high interest rate if we did not pay within 90 days (we borrowed the money at a much lower interest rate).

We still have received no satisfactory answer about the project's cost and and are both disappointed and angry about the service. I should also mention that the rodent control (and other pests) program is now separate for which we pay a separate fee.

Recently, we had a roach scare. Had found four roaches in one week in a relatively tidy home. Certainly not a place you would expect pests to live. We panicked and after several horrifying internet searches, we bought raid and bait stations. After we found the final roach, we decided that we had had enough and couldn't risk a full blown infestation. We signed up online for a free consultation with Orkin, and were contacted promptly the next morning. After I told her we had found four roaches she told me we likely had two hundred more and should start treatment. She preyed on my fear and set us up for a yearly plan. Since we rent the home and are set to move out within the month, this seemed drastic, but I didn't question her. She was however, quite friendly, and answered my questions about the extermination procedure.

The exterminator arrived on time and was very friendly. He identified our roaches as wood roaches (an underrepresented group in forums found online) and told us there was a low chance that we were infested. These types of roaches live outside and come in during the spring season in search of food and water. They do not breed inside like some other species of cockroaches so he advised us to set up some glue traps on our own and avoid paying several hundred dollar for Orkin services we didn't really need. All in all, a positive experience and ten out of ten would recommend Orkin to a friend or loved one.

Background: I've been living in my current home for 2 years, most of that went along without seeing one roach. Unfortunately, about 5 months ago I saw one or 2 over the course of a week and flipped out. You should know before reading the rest of this review that I have an extreme roach phobia. Seeing one sends me into a near panic attack and I become a bundle of nerves for days after until I finally feel comfortable again.

Calling: My mom, who also has the same phobia, recommended Orkin after I told her I'd seen a few roaches (I later found out that all she had done with them at that point is have a phone consultation). I gave them a call to schedule an appointment and that brings us to our first RED FLAG.

Red Flag 1 ("your problem is way worse than you know"): They are alarmists. When I called and told them I'd seen a few roaches and I wanted to never wanted see one again in my home they immediately went nuclear and told me that if I'd seen a few there were hundreds and they'd have to treat not only my home but my yard to prevent them from ever coming in to my home. Music to my ears at the time but looking back it was part of them just using dump truck exterminating where they put down everything they have without knowing really what they're doing so they can charge you for every single part of the process. Once they were in my house they were convincing me that I had mice, fleas, ants, etc, which I don't and started treating for all of those things.

On their first visit they said their plan was to bait the roaches in then over time move them out so they were my neighbors' problem. Presumably so that my neighbors would get desperate and call Orkin as well. That brings me to...

Red Flag 2 (expensive): I've had exterminators in the past and they cost about $20 a month to spray for roaches inside and out of your home. Orkin costs more than twice that, $92 every other month. It would be worth it to me if I had never seen another roach. Unfortunately, the opposite is true...

The infestation: Not only did my roach problem not get solved, something they did opened the flood gates! Last night (I've been under their service for 5 months and they came 3 days ago to treat, for the last time) my husband killed 22 roaches! I have to sleep with the light on. And I almost got up from bed to go sleep in my car so I could relax. Something in that nuclear cocktail of treatments that they put down in my house and on my lawn is attracting roaches like crazy. There are more roaches in here than if I just left the door open at night. This is literally destroying my mental and physical health. I'm uncomfortable in my own home and am scared to shower, make food in my kitchen, or even sleep unless my husband is home. He's so aggravated by this that we fight constantly. He blames me because I am the one who called Orkin.

I'm glad for you that you are doing your homework and reading this review. Please, do yourself a favor and call anyone else. Orkin is a scam and should be shut down. There were so many signs, I should have cancelled sooner. For example... Red Flag 3: Each visit we had a new "technician" who was always "new to Orkin" and they say that often. Like, "I'm new to Orkin but let me call and see if I can use this new special thing in your grass". They were all dumbfounded by my increasing problem and "couldn't imagine what that they would be responsible". Either they have an incredibly high turnover or their technicians are lying about being new. Both of those options point to Orkin being a sham business.

Red Flag 4: Won't let you cancel. When it all became too much to handle I had my husband call to cancel. I'm a very non-confrontational person and being so stressed out by this whole thing didn't feel up to it. They would pass him around from person to person asking why he wanted to cancel but not actually cancelling. They knew I was the weak link and called me the next day when he was at work to ask me why we wanted to cancel. I was backed into a corner and had to lay out the issue and say, never come back, you've essentially ruined my life and I don't feel comfortable in my own home anymore.

TL:DR: If you contact a business to solve a specific problem and they start trying to fix problems that don't exist, over charge you, make your problem worse, aren't knowledgeable, and try to prevent you from firing them then it is a scam, not a reputable company.

Before every interview with contractor to repair any of these issue I'd educated myself on each area. It's called YouTube and reading and more research. To sum it up Orkin is kinda old school in termites and treatment. Never buy a termite contract without a repair clause, understand this, all contracts offered here has (live termite activity). If you find termite damage with no live termites, you will pay for the repairs. I'd say this to everyone (no one will take care of me, like ME) and this is nothing better than an educated consumer. I called again for a quote for removal of a field mouse that had gotten in my home. In the past, our had had scurried a similar field mouse right out the door, but this time I contacted Orkin because my daughter was quite disconcerted by seeing a mouse inside the house. I was greeted by a customer service rep over the phone who immediately launched into "This is the mouse breeding season and you have colonies of mice and you called the right place..." then put me on hold after asking my address in order to enter it into a database which gives them my square footage.

Next, followed the "That will be at least seven treatments that you need to contract for upfront..." after which I cut her off abruptly having remembered the previous call to her years back for a localized ant infestation in my kitchen, which they wanted me to agree to a similar thousand dollar arrangement. In the end, a $15 bottle of treatment from Walmart proved successful for the ant problem with absolutely no recurrence. These people are CROOKS!

Fair? Accurate? Honest? No grey areas? Me or Orkin? Their offer by their sales rep made them some money. Very misleading!! Up until this past summer I thought How thorough the company was in treating... What do you call a flea? A small bug with a bite? A critter that annoys humans and especially animals? Is it a PEST? NOT according to Orkin!! Now, w/ treatments per their schedule, don't you think some of the monies I was charged would take care of FLEAS? Was this info brought up by sales rep. My dogs are always near, thus He saw them. Oh my ant population has not ceased, either I use Tara liquid and get better results.

Next item that Newcomers need to be aware of.... if a 250-350 lb. 'inspector checking for Termite evidences' comes and does not check all areas including the attic because he cannot climb ladder or squat or storage areas that eventually touch somewhere to ground... What happening if there is a problem down the road w/ termites??? I DO NOT recommend ORKIN... pesticide or termite.

Orkin got hold of me, result from my complaint. They have come and sprayed my house again. I hope this will result in a end to cloth moths. It seems two employees did not follow through and that's why I did not get a result the first time I used Orkin. They told me they will do a follow up to the new spray done last week. I want to thank consumer affairs for their help with this problem and will let you know if the results are good this time.

    Original Review: Feb. 15, 2015

Paid for them to rid my house of cloth moths. One month after, I had four times as many. They said do a follow-up. When technician phoned, I told him I would rather get my money back. He said no problem. That was five months ago. I phoned, they said would get back to me. That was two weeks ago. I am sure they will do nothing to correct what they have done.

About five weeks ago I had a very friendly inspector come to my home to check for bed bugs, which I knew I already had. I have a terrible allergic reaction to the bites and was desperate to get rid of these blood sucking pests. I had tried everything on the market that advertised to kill them. In a few short days they had developed an immunity to the poison and would come back worse than before. Just after Christmas I had scheduled them to come and heat my house to a 150 degree temperature for 30 hours. For this treatment I had to prepare my home and box up, sanitize, or throw away anything on the list they gave me. Day and night for ten days my family stressed over this preparation. When we come back our home was ever so cozy. It was a few days before the temperature came back to normal. This treatment worked, every bug in my home was dissolved, there wasn't a hint that we ever had bugs or spiders.

Three weeks later the biting began again, I of course was in denial that it could be bed bugs. Ten days later I caught one on my bed. They are back, one week after Orkin would come out to retreat for free. My gripe is that they do play on people's desperation and willingness to pay whatever the cost, mine was $5000 plus the motel and food for a family of eight. We have a wooden bed frame and although the first guy told us the bugs can find places to hide in the wood we were never told to take our bed apart so the treatment would reach these hiding places.

I don't have another $5000 to throw away on another what if. Short of burning my house down I have to relive this nightmare all over again. If only someone along the line would have fully disclosed this as a preparation I wouldn't be writing this review. I can't afford to find someone else and just hope Orkin does the right thing and fix it at their cost. I know word of mouth speaks volumes over repeat customers and I have ruined businesses in telling people about my experience.

We had Orkin's dry zone and annual contract for the dry zone for a few years. Everything worked fine. Until we sold the property and tried to call their local office to terminate the contract and get a partial refund for an unused service (about 5 months out of a year). That's when the true nature of their business came out. Rudely the customer service in Murfreesboro, Tennessee said they would cancelled the service and NO REFUND!! "We don't give refund", she said. A three months went by, we received another bill. So I called and found out that they lied to me about canceling service. So I told the customer service to cancel it again. He told me that he could not do so because his computer had problems. I see they would not cancel it so they don't have to give customers refund.

My patience was up so I called the Headquarter explaining the problems. She told me she would send a memo to the local office. She said not to worry. If they did not receive payment, they would automatically cancelled the service for me anyway. Duh!!!! What a waste of time trying to deal with this company. We had Terminix as our pest control and let me tell you, they are much, much better in customer service. Robert used to be our service man. Treating us nice for all these year. Til he got promoted, he still took care of any problems we had. Awesome, Terminix in Murfreesboro Area. And after selling our house, I cancelled our service with Terminix and received our refund for an unused Termite contract within 30 days. Any pest problems, Terminix would come and solve it for us in the same date.

For those of you who try to decide which company you want for your pest control or dry zone services, just remember, if you need to terminate the service or ask for refund, ORKIN said, they don't do such things. That is how they treated me. Now I am using a local company and Terminix. I am happy with services they provide. No more ORKIN for me. Thank you.

At the end, I was out of town for quite some time, and called to indicate that I did not want the service at the appointment they wanted to set. They then called me back when I was out of town (did not get me on the phone), and said they would come by and Spray OUTSIDE of the apartment to fulfill their obligation (the "problem" was solely inside the apartment). When they billed me, I told them I said I didn't want the service when they first asked, and they came by without my approval. They then sent my bill to a collection agency (for a "service" they never delivered and I did not request). I would not recommend Orkin for anything. Complete "rip off".

I called Orkin with the impression they were the best. Wrong. I have noticed roaches. It has gotten out of hand. I looked for an exterminator as soon as I had the money available. First problem, I call the call center. We agreed on a monthly treatment plan for three months.

Well when technician showed up he informs me the plan no longer exists. And they signed me up for quarterly treatments. So I agreed to do a year contract bi monthly. Second problem, technician shows up with the I don't want to be here attitude. Even glares at me throughout his time here. Complaining about previous customers. While passively complaining about my questions about service. Terrible attitude.

Third problem, I was told by technician that bait was put out. But also that "maybe" next time he will bring bait. Did NOT spray outside of my home! Spent about a half hour in the kitchen and 15 mins on the rest of the house with a "mister" that kills bugs on contact. Fourth problem, fast forward 3 weeks. Bugs have doubled! No dead bugs other than the initial treatment the FIRST day!

NOTHING keeping more bugs from entering my home. I was told there would be more activity first few days. Not a whole ** month. I could have accomplished this with a can of raid. Pointed out bug problem in wall panels but he would not treat it. I asked if bugs would move from one room to the other. His response no. Will they come in from the outside. Again no, shouldn’t. Lies! There IS such a thing as google idiot! I made him uncomfortable, he knew he was full of it.

Fifth problem, called because was unsatisfied with service. Never received a call back. Had to call I don't know how many times to get a call back. Then was told because I have a week before my next service which was actually 11 days that they would charge me. So much for the in-between visits for free for bad service. Then proceeded to tell me, "well you said you were satisfied with our services!"

This because of call to call center while technician was sitting on my couch to confirm contract. ** bags. Made excuses for technician. When I requested on a new technician, argued with me about how inconvenient it is for them. Wtf. I don't care how inconvenient it is for you. Your crap service is inconvenient for me! Absolute waste of money! Crap customer service. Crap work. Crap technicians. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Rip off!! You can't make a formal complaint, they don't care.

You need a real solution to a real problem. Roaches are a health hazard to you and your family. They carry diseases. Their goal is to keep the problem existing to keep money coming in regardless of the health hazards or personal problems it may cost you. I can't get custody of my kids with home in this condition. Guess what, they are so slimy they only care to take you money. This should be illegal. Crooks.

Arrogant, ignorant, self fulfilling people. Will ruin your life and somehow feel justified. DO NOT USE THE SE GUYS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE IN MY AREA. There is only one Orkin here and the people are terrible, low quality. You cannot request another office or technician. Oh the joy.

He started getting annoyed when I asked him questions, so I told my 11-yr-old to go in the room because of the way he was talking to me. Then he said for me to find another pest company. When I called his office, the girl said that the general manager would call when he got off the phone. 2 hours later, he called telling me how good the tech is, and he wrote it off as the tech was having a bad day and hung up. The tech "Aaron" tells me everything he's going to do to get rid of the mice as well as insects. After signing into a year contract he did nothing but put a few traps in the basement and garage, which I had already been doing. So of course the next day I called to cancel the contract since I'm only given 3 days to terminate it. Without any questions the rep canceled it. Aaron came later that day unannounced, walked into my house, took some of the traps, went back to his truck, came back and said he was getting the rest and left through the back door without saying a word.

I couldn't believe how unprofessional and rude Orkin's service was. Then they charged me 130 dollars for nothing! I called and left a voicemail on a Saturday and around noon on Monday I called again and the manager was already waiting for my call. But had to call me back a few hours later. He proceeded to argue with me for a good 10 minutes being as unprofessional if not worse than the tech was. I expected more from a manager "Jim" especially if they're representing a company like that. Finally he agreed to credit the money back to me which I have not yet gotten so we'll see! I regret ever calling this ridiculous place. I doubt they'll be in business for long if this is how they treat people and represent their company. This was the Orkin in Rockford, IL.

I call Orkin and they tell us they will be out the next day to take a look and spray. I was pleased to hear we could get help with this problem so quickly considering how soon our baby was coming. At 8 AM, I was up and ready to get the first treatment done on our house. 9:45 AM comes around and my fiancee and I and wondering where this exterminator is. 11 AM comes around and we call the company to complain and let them know we have plans and for them to just come out the next day. We let them know we were disappointed with their company's inability to even call and let us know they weren't coming.

The next day comes around and the same thing happens except for at around 10:50 AM, the exterminator calls and tells us he'll be there in 10 minutes. He didn't show up until 12.... Then when he gets here, he only sprayed the stairs and kitchen and just a little bit of our living room... And set traps in 2 of the bedrooms and skipped the bathroom and our other bedroom. We even told him the main area we saw the roaches was in the bathroom. I was very frustrated when he left. The traps he set out were extremely cheap as well. We could have bought similar ones at the store and saved the $100 we spent on the company.. A week or so goes by, I get the "contract" in the mail. I looked at it even though I had already made up my mind I was not going to continue. I saw what I got for my money and it was obvious to me that it was not worth the money. I still had spiders and silverfish.

About month later I get a call from a guy wanting to set up my next visit. I told him that I was not interested. In an annoyed voice he informed me they "could not stop this - I had to call the office". The next morning I called and explained that I was not interested. Later that morning I had a call I could not take. I figured it was the guy calling to try and talk me into going ahead with their service. I assumed that not calling back after telling them no two times would be enough. Also the girlfriend was home to stop them if they showed up at the door. That afternoon she finds the bill rolled up and stuck to the screen door. They had shown up, sprinkled their powder around my foundation and left.

They did this again in Sept. That time I had a written statement ready to give to the guy if he showed up. Again there was no knock. I swear the guy had to of parked the car down the block. My girlfriend did not hear anybody in the yard. So now they want close to 200 bucks for two cups of crap sprinkled on my lawn. This outfit is a scam. The only guarantee you get from them is they will take your money. The "service" is set up to come around about the time you would be asking for your money back from the previous visit. We called Orkin originally for a carpenter ant issue. We moved into our current house 5 years ago. Began noticing we had a few here and there. The longer we lived here each year seemed to get worse. We contacted Orkin finally because we wanted to go with a recognized company. First time out a lady showed up, some supervisor walked all over the house, told us when they would come out, signed us up for the contract, was supposed to come out, first time tech was to inspect and spray then continue monthly for 3 months then they were to come out if we were still seeing the ants without any additional charges.

After the first spraying we noticed a decline in the amount of ants we were seeing so we figured it was working. This went on for a couple months although during the subsequent sprayings the tech would always end up showing up late or calling and wanting to come a different day than originally scheduled. This turned out to be a issue because we have a dog who is not friendly and my husband is only home on Mondays from work so I had originally told them they would need to come out on Mondays while my husband was home so he could control the dog (she is huge and listens to him better than myself), so when they would show up on days not scheduled I would not be able to let them in the house, they could only spray outside.

Next thing that happened is we discovered we had a bird mite issue so we called them to see if they could also come out to spray for that. They did come out, sprayed the location only after my husband had to walk them around and show them where the actual bugs were because the tech couldn't even find them, mind you they are tiny but they were everywhere and I thought they were supposed to be trained to find bugs. Anyway the tech then expressed the fact that we would need to hire a specialty exterminator most likely for the mites because they did not have the proper equipment to deal with this issue.

After all this we began again to see ants like crazy all over the house. My husband told me to cancel service which I then called and cancelled. Now we have received a charge to our credit card for month of service after we had cancelled so now I call to find out why we were charged. They tell me they still have us down as having service so that’s why they charged for the month of October but no Orkin man showed up or sprayed at all during the month of October anyway so why charge us. Even if they were confused about the fact of us cancelling service, they now say they will refund the charge so I wait to see what will happen next. All in all I would not recommend them. I would go with a company that doesn't force you to sign into a contract with them and surely don’t do it by credit card so they then can charge you whenever they want.

I would NEVER call Orkin Pest Control. We woke up to millions of ants in our house. We called Orkin early Saturday morning. They told us they would be at our house between 12:00 and 2:00. They took our credit card information and we trusted that they would be here. They never called and never showed up. When we called the company, they said they had no way of getting a hold of their employee. Luckily one day later we had an awesome guy come and take care of our problem. I am only sorry I didn't read all of their negative reviews first.

I called Orkin after chasing squirrels through my home for weeks! Told them of my problem. They sent a guy out who decided that where I was fighting squirrels was not the solution. He went into attic and here is a good one, saws eyes and could tell there was a least two generations of squirrels. Too far to take pics but he could see them. Long story short $5400. Later they solved the problem or so they thought. Two days after they were gone I had squirrels all over my house again. Called service guy, he says, "Well I will have to try to get out and see where they might be." Two weeks later I found where they were getting in and solved problem with an old license plate nailed to hole they were coming. Guess what, no more squirrels! And to think I must be an Orkin man. IF they come near your home shoot them and I don't mean the squirrels!!!

On a Sunday night, we heard a mouse gnawing and running behind the wall in our 5 year old's room. At our age, knew exactly what it was so called Orkin 1st thing on Monday morning. They scheduled a time for Tuesday and technician Julie came out. We explained what we heard and what we knew it was. She indicated she needed to look in our attic. She did NOT have a ladder, she did NOT have a flashlight. My husband got out his ladder and flashlight and she went up and indicated she didn't see anything. She said she was confused and was pretty sure we had bats. We reiterated the gnawing and chewing and that we knew what both sounded like and it was definitely mice. After 30 minutes walking around the house she could not find any entry points.

My husband pointed out a few spots that he thought they could get in and she said "yeah, probably - you may want to close those up." She was convinced it was bats and said she found no evidence of mice, but since she was confused, she would have her supervisor come out on Friday after 4 pm that week because he was more knowledgeable, someone would call to confirm. My husband shimmied up the ladder and within 2 feet of the entry found mouse poop, and trails in the blown in insulation.

On Thursday, we came home to a smell in our son's room that was definitely a mouse dead behind the wall. I called right away to make sure her supervisor was coming out still as no one had confirmed - they had nothing in the schedule but they would call the supervisor. He called me back and I explained. He said he would not be able to fit us in the schedule and there was nothing he could do anyway if a mouse died, we would have to put up with the smell. I told him I had heard dead mice can be removed all the time by taking off the baseboard, cutting small hole and you usually can find them on the floor by following your nose. He said that the wall shouldn't be cut open and you shouldn't do that, just place a cup of vinegar in the room and the smell will get worse before it gets better and usually takes a couple of weeks to a month. REALLY?

And what happens when the dead mouse bloats so bad and leaks the disease-ridden fluids into the wood and more into the air? In a 5 year old's bedroom, he's supposed to sleep in that? He basically said he wouldn't be able to do anything, but could come out on Monday and set out baits or spray. I don't feel the original technician should be in the field without the knowledge or the proper tools, supervisor saw it as a "training opportunity" - REALLY? I don't pay for a service to be NOT performed so you can train somebody.

I called a local wildlife removal and he came out within the hour - stayed 4 hours to remove and do a thorough inspection. Guess what Julie/Orkin - NO BATS! Mice! Just as we thought. His charge was minimal compared to Orkin and he knew what he was doing. Followed his nose, pulled off the baseboard, removed the dead mouse, and put everything back just as it was. Baited to high heaven and sealed holes so they can't get in. Orkin just wants to get you signed up on their contract for a year of service. It was $134 for initial, $84 for the 30 day visit, then they came back monthly for $84 each visit for a year. "You can cancel at anytime." They apparently did not know what they were doing and I can't help but think, if they did - maybe the mouse wouldn't have died in the wall?

Took a week to get no resolve with them? 4 hours to get phenomenal service from a locally owned exterminator. He charged $120 for all of that and will come back as many times as it takes to ensure removal. No contracts, no catchy little "deal of the day". A business owner who takes pride in his work and will always make sure the customer is satisfied. I will NEVER EVER call Orkin again for anything and am recommending our local guy to anyone who inquires. They wasted our time, money and no resolution. Avoid chain exterminators, especially when their call centers are in different states - it's just all about the money.

I have no complaint about the guys coming to the home to do the treatment. The issue is that the salesman sold wrong service (treat carpenter ants) to us. And Company tried to keep charging us even though the issue was caused by squirrels. The first, salesman saw no evidence there is carpenter ants, but identified that the noise from the attic is caused by carpenter ants. The second, when the wrong treatment was made, ORKIN still tried to force us to continue the service and pay for the service. Since the first treatment made no any difference to the issue, I called ORKIN. I was told that they can move the second service up. I refused because the first service didn't do anything.

According to the contract, "ORKIN will return to retreat the area at no charge". Because they insisted that it would be the second service if someone came to my home again. So I said I would like to get refund if I have to be forced to take second treatment. Therefore, the manager said I should allow them to fix the issue before asking for the refund. I think it is reasonable. And then I was given a phone number to call. I called that number and left messages 3 times in one week. I was told technician will contact me, but no one got back to me. I had waited for one week, then I decided to follow the contract to get refund.

When I call ORKIN again to ask for refund, the manager contacted me to let me know someone will contact me shortly. I did get called and an appointment was made at end of last week. The technician came and confirmed that issue wasn't caused by ants for sure, it could be squirrel. He left two traps. We didn't let him to do any treatment for ants. Unfortunately I saw the bill for the second treatment showing in my credit card statement today. I am kind of angry, but technician was nice, so I just gave an unsatisfied rating.

I set agreed to the first time FULL home inspection for 149.00. I set it for 8 am on Saturday... They have a 2 hour window so my appointment was between 8 and 10 am... I was told this was going to be a FULL Inside and outside inspection and spray so I awoke my entire house on a weekend, our ONLY time to relax and sleep in... We were all up and ready by 8 am to do what ever they needed us to do... get into rooms, bathrooms etc. We didn't want to be in the way so we were all ready... We were all awaiting the tech guy to show when we got the call that sorry they aren't coming @ 9 am. He was ill..

Ok so I am ok w/ that.. however the lady representing orkin was NOT sympathetic, she offered NO replacement person that was on the way or would be on the way nor did she offer a discount to reschedule my day that was FULL planned for in advance.. All she said was "Oh so when do you want us to come out again?" I was so put off by her lack of professionalism... I said "you won't. I am calling clark or terminex."

Bottom line is IF you as a company fail to deliver you call and FIRST try to get another staff member out there and/or offer a discount for the HUGE inconvenience that it has caused because you have not set up a back up person in the event that your tech person can't make it. None of it was done, so I WON'T be calling them for a new appointment. I will be calling their competition for better service.

I reported to apt office that I saw a bug. After three years living here it was my first one. Orkin came out and spot treated and then told me he would be by for a month to check on bugs. There is where they started messing up. After that I started getting bites from something unknown and that went on for almost 8 weeks. When they say they will be back they don't come back for weeks later. Then when they do come in they don't do anything but walk around and talk. I told him about the bites and that I even ended up in the hospital. Again nothing done. They don't care about anything but their pay check. At this point I didn't care about the bugs just whatever was biting my family.

I went to office. They told me to talk to Orkin. I did that and again nothing from Orkin. In the meantime we are still getting bites. This went on for weeks. Him telling me it was the office when all along it was Orkin making up stories on why they could not do anything (it was too much work) so I got tired of the run around and the story telling. I called the code enforcement. The heads rolled after that. The same day code was out here I got a call from the office then from Orkin supervisor. I had to explain just what happened with whatever was getting us. The doc said no bedbugs, the first Orkin man said no bedbugs, the manager in the apts said, "No bed bugs, it's more like spiders..." So with Orkin in trouble and about to lose a contract with the apts the super stopped by.

I was cleaning my room good and bed was standing up. I put it down right before he got here. He had me go do something else and while my back was turned he pulled out some bedbugs out of his pocket from a jar and let them go to make his stories look better and to get his company off the hook. I had no signs of anything but spiders. SPIDERS... since Orkin failed to do anything for weeks and I told the manager everything he did and said the apts wants to drop the contract. They had to make it look good.

This nightmare won't stop. My apt still has not been sprayed per Orkin calling it off and code enforcement due back any day but it don't make Orkin look bad just the manager of the apts. so they think. I'm ready to get Orkin on the chopping block - for planting bugs in me room when there was none. Just to get them off the hook caused them to get deeper and deeper. I'm not stupid and have proof that I don't have bedbugs. IT'S SPIDERS. Orkin is worthless. I have another company coming out to do their job that with the contract they got paid. So they can care less about anything. They don't want to work and they walks around and tries to look good but they are a nightmare from hell...

Run away from them before you are in a nightmare. It happens so easy with these people. As he told me, I'm from the USA and he likes coming to our house but the others he can run over them so easy. They don't speak English... Don't use Orkin. Watch your back if you do. I did and now I know they are worthless... Run from them. Don't listen to them. They learned their job from the Cracker Jack's box.

Orkin is failing in its contract for service to my home. My agreement with Orkin is that a technician will service my home on the first Thursday of every other month, and stipulates that I MUST BE AT HOME because of the INSIDE ENTRANCE to the basement. I have requested, therefore, that the technician call on the day or night before service.

March 2014, I was charged for service on an off day when I was not at home. There was no call prior to the visit. I have made numerous calls (15, in fact) to get this charge removed. On calling, I am assured that it is removed, but to this day, I continue to receive delinquent notices about this bill. I have paid on time for all services rendered.

I received a bill for $115.22, and a delinquent notice for an unpaid amount of $57.61. Listed on the invoice is $57.61 for the Sept. 4 scheduled service. No technician came last week on that day. When I called, the visit was rescheduled for today, Sept. 11. Since a technician did not call the night before, I called the company. I was assured that service was scheduled between 8 and 11 a.m. No one came. When I called the company, afternoon, I was told: "No one was scheduled for service in your area, today." When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told no one was available. Another date of service, Friday, Sept. 19, was suggested to me. I will be away for nearly a month from Sept. 15. In the meantime, rodent activity in the basement awaits Orkin's attention.

The original contract with Orkin required the company to replace the insulation in the basement ceiling where rodents were nesting. So, it behooves the company to prevent infestations. Even so, they let it happen and had to replace the insulation. TWICE! Neglecting regular service is a violation of the contract. I am very disappointed with the failure of Orkin to live up to its side of our agreement.

Orkin has been contracted to service my church for many years. I've been the secretary for ten years and recently discovered that our annual contract had not been renewed so contacted them. The person I spoke with said "he" would call me right back. It was about two weeks before he did and set a time/date to meet board members, go over things for a new contract and add a new parsonage to the entire contract... including the existing church building. Ultimately it was going to be yet another expensive treatment to PREVENT termites.

In 2009, we had spent close to $3000 for an extensive drilling process (a lifetime product) and yearly contract payments on top of that for a 5-yr contract with an option to renew every 5 years (In 2004, it was a preventative treatment that cost over $4000 with annual payments of more than $700). Now we are told it's not a lifetime product but was only good for ten yrs. But apparently "he" didn't realize we keep pretty good records and last time I checked it was 2014 not 2019! I don't appreciate being lied to and find it very unsettling that a huge corp entity would find it okay to take advantage of a church! But the story gets better...

The parsonage (recently purchased) had termites and the seller paid for a treatment prior to closing. Orkin does their initial inspection and says there are termites present and it's going to cost $$$ to treat and more than $150 to carry an annual contract in addition to the church. He proceeds to tell our board members that the company who treated at time of closing only spot treated because that's all they do. I had my doubts about the termites and personally spoke with the man who did the treatment on May 5th. He treated the entire property with a very strong product and the home is covered by a contract. If in fact termites have reappeared so quickly (very doubtful), then he re-treats at no charge until May 5, 2015. We can renew with him for $85 a year. In looking back through records, we have spent in excess of $15,000 with Orkin which seems to be a ridiculous amount of money for nothing. Shame on Orkin is all I can say and would highly recommend doing business with smaller locally-owned businesses.

If bugs still come back, they refund the $99. Good luck getting someone to come back out after finding bugs after the service. When asked to speak with the manager, he was always out of the office and "would call me by 5pm." I never received a call.

Called them out cause we had a bug infestation going on between the walls of our home so decided to go with so called experts in my mind. I had seen various commercials claiming to kill a bug - you have to think like a bug. What a joke - the only thing these so called techs and experts were good at was wasting my time and money. Very expensive for horrible service. They came in spraying a few corners and promptly leaving. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with my service. I could have done the same by going to home depot and buying a gallon of ortho pest be gone. So please save your hard earned money and do it yourself. This is a huge scam and the name is not the best solution. I say do it yourself, save money and headaches. I would never recommend them to anyone. Scam alert. I signed up for Orkin, just from brand name recognition. I had a problem with fleas and cockroaches. I read the one-year contract after I signed it. It was so one-sided I couldn't believe it. I was required to make my monthly payments. They were required to treat my house once a month. It didn't say anything about getting rid of pests. But it did say that they would come out and treat me without extra charge if I still had pest problems. Even then, it didn't say it would get rid of them.

The Orkin man was courteous, but he gave me this song and dance about how impossible it is to control cockroaches. I know this not to be true because I have used Combat Roach Hotels to get rid of cockroaches in the past and they worked well. The Orkin treatments did not really work. They helped somewhat, I suppose. It is always more profitable to treat a problem than it is to cure it. If they cured my problem, I wouldn't have to keep their service any more, would I?

I just decided to work them to death. I called them out six to eight times a month. After a few months they were only too glad to let me out of my contract.

It has taken us over 3 weeks to prepare for Orkin's scheduled 10 am appointment to have our entire home sprayed for spiders. Due to the arrangements ,we had to make to be out of the home for 6 hours. Three dogs had to be kenneled and my wife was expecting the Orkin tech to arrive by 10am. No show, no call, contacted the Orkin tech/Sosian and he informed me he would have to reschedule for 11:30am (which meant not re-entering our home until after 6pm). Contacted Hemal the manager and he did not provide any solution either. Very poor customer service or consideration for the effort put forth in our preparations and the logistics of planning everything. Someone could have called to say they were running late or reschedule but they did not care, even when I called them. No wonder they have such an extremely poor service record. Should have checked before using them.

After cancelling my account due to no one coming to my home for two months, they put a new tech on my route. He supposedly came to my home unannounced, not scheduled to do a service call. No door tag was left, no phone message informing me of his visit was left. They all of a sudden sent me a bill for $75. I was like "must be a mistake because no one has been here since Dec 2013." April I started receiving payment demand call so I ask the rep to have someone call me to explain exactly what I was being billed for since they always said they did not have that info. So now I have a collection agency calling and sending letters. I called the agency back to find out this guy supposedly came and did a perimeter treatment; what is that. Park in front of my house and look at it because in January it was snowing (so now they think I'm stupid).

Okay!!! Now I have finally had it, called them and they said call the branch had to handle it. Called the branch, spoke with Douglas who was very unprofessional, did not want to get a supervisor for me. So I asked his name and then miraculously a supervisor appeared out of the air. I spoke with the supervisor and he told me there was nothing he could do but send someone out to my house as a courtesy. WTH Now why would I want to start this all over again. I told him if he could prove to me someone came to my house (supposedly doing the perimeter only) I would pay the bill; silence... Okay now I hear, "let me "run" this pass my boss and I'll call you back." Well guess what; they REALLY got the wrong one. To be continued...

Unprofessional C/S on the phone, and unprofessional technicians that say things like "Well, I can spray it all day long and it still wouldn't get rid of the problem." Our silverfish problem still exists, and they don't come out for in-between visits like they "guarantee" if the problem persists. Decide to make up their own schedule - for 6 months we had a steady schedule. Now they come out whenever it's convenient for them without plausible explanations. But when it's time to charge your card, they seem to have those records straight and available. So, the outcome is "We want charge you for NOT getting rid of the problem, whenever it's convenient to us". "As long as you pay with a credit card on file - we're good (!) but everything else is your problem!!" I'm dropping them. If this practice continues, I wonder how long they would last.

I had made two payments totaling $204.69 of my renewal cost of $304.69, pretty hefty for a yearly inspection! $100 which I had forgotten to send was mailed on January 11, 2014. I didn't find out that I was cancelled until that check was returned to me. No inspection was done in 2013. I received no cancellation notice from Orkin and when my check was returned, I asked for my money back which I was told at the time that it would be returned to me.

Since then I sent Orkin two bills and was told the check was in the mail. I finally did receive a check dated March 5, 2014 for only $77.74 only short $126.42 of what I had paid them. Now they are trying to say this was prorated to some imaginary expiration date. I feel they still owe me $126.42 and they have the worst customer service. I would recommend this company to no one. I called Orkin and paid nearly $400.00 to have them come in and see how bad the infestation was and the cost included 2 separate sprayings. Was told that after a month had gone by, they would call again and see if I needed another spraying (#2). Instructed to vacuum the house two-three times a day for 2-3 weeks. Orkin man came and sprayed (end of Nov.) and said he would call and come out again in a month for second spraying. Well, I let the holidays go by with no call from Orkin, and I could tell my cats were still itching up a storm.

I had to call them and it was numerous back and forth messages for Orkin to arrange appt and arrive again - Jan 30th, this year. Have been vac'ing as much as I can (but is it reasonable to say that a person with a full time job can really vac a house top to bottom 3 times a day???). No fleas seen so far and cats seem better, but more time needs to go by to see if this costly procedure has paid off. I wish I had shopped around a bit before going with Orkin.

So I could get the stuff the last tenant left in the basement, washer, dryer and deep freezer that did not work so they would have no place to hid. I had to dump a year old sofa, love seat, and my son's bed. They may have killed the live ones, but not the nests or anything else. I had to bag everything, from drawers, closets and more. Had to wash curtains, sheets, and more. 4 large trash bags, three days in a row. All this stress, and pay them over $900 that my mom charged, and I pay $87 a month back. I am on disability myself, taking care of a disabled son. They did come the three times they said they would, but bugs still in my home.

I now called a guy who only charged me $100. Did all three rooms and other than washing clothes and anything on or around the beds, did not have to go thru the hell of bagging everything and storing it in my bathroom and kitchen, then having to clean the things off. Orkin stinks to me. They are all business. The man I got actually only charged me for one room, not two because he came back to do a room I thought was clean. Plus was PAYING IT FORWARD because God let him live after having a heart attack. Think Orkin would do that? No way Jose. Never again Orkin. One day the Conyers service manager changes it to another weekend without telling the customer so we sit around half a day only to find that no one is coming that day. He says he changed it to the 2nd Saturday. That is fine as long as we know when to expect someone. The real problem for me is that from month to month the service schedule is changed without the customer being informed. This month they did not come on the 1st or 2nd Saturday.

I am about fed up with making a monthly call to find out when or if someone is coming. I am also somewhat upset by the fact that the manager at the Conyers, GA center referred to me as "people in that area". I don't think that racist insinuations and poor customer service are going to keep this business growing. If there is an area of town that they don't want to serve they should publicly say so. I mention my experiences with Orkin to everyone I know with the hopes that they will find a different pest control provider. Two days later my girls were still getting bites and I called them. They came to inspect the room and sure enough, they found signs of the bugs... They were like this should not have been happening, but it was. Then she realized her partner forgot to spray the headboard and the room is infested again. She sprayed the headboard but with a handheld spray, not the strong stuff. I made them come back once a week to assure me that we had no more bugs. They kept saying "You have none. You have no more bugs."

Alas the 30 days were up and two weeks later, you guessed it: bed bugs in the same room they sprayed plus they moved to the next room by now. I called and complained. Orkin's answer was the 30 days is up and we will have to charge you another 500.00... You are not getting any more money out of me. Very upset. One of the exterminator had the audacity to tell me that she was doing me a favor by setting up another visit which never took place anyway. This is the kind of company that I paid two weeks of my paycheck to eliminate pests from my house and right at this moment I continue to have the same problem. I called the tech and he apologized, saying he had intended to come out that day but got tied up...He assured me he would be out the following week. That week never came, and my 2 calls to their office were not returned. Finally, someone else comes to my property and says the other tech no longer works there. I called the office back and spoke with the ever so non-caring manager, Craig, and he assured me that my missed service of which I had paid for but never got, would be taken care of - that on this service, he would not charge me for. And honestly, that is about the only thing that "Craig" has kept his word on.

The new guy who treated the garage and outside was only here 15 minutes. I instinctively knew that how he was "working" was not going to handle the problem here. And sure enough after 10 days, I called back (the first time I ever had to do that) to say that his treatment was useless. Craig assured me that he would have someone contact me the following week for a follow-up treatment. Two weeks later I called back. He (Craig) apologized again and ASSURED me that someone would be out the "this Friday" at the latest.

Ok, so Monday, I called to tell him to basically shove it where the sun doesn't shine and he "conned" me into giving him "one more chance" that Orkin service would be "free until you are satisfied". There would be someone at my home the next day, period, no questions. I called back the day after that no one again showed up - and this time Craig was not in the office. I spoke with Diane, the office person (who is extremely nice by the way) and explained EVERYTHING to her - to which of course, SHE apologized and said that was not like Craig that she was sure his lack of response and utter irresponsibility was not intentional. I told her if it was happening to me, then I had no doubt that other people were getting the same and that it was just not right.

I asked her how she would feel and she agreed with me, that she would be pissed as well. I told her to REMOVE me from their systems and I never wanted to see and/or hear from anyone associated with Orkin again. Guess what. I get notifications when I use my bank card - and I got one this morning. A charge from Orkin was made to MY bank account yesterday - is this even LEGAL? I am livid - they charged my account w/o giving me service, after I asked them to remove me. Anyone know any attorneys? This is RIDICULOUS. Call someone else. Do NOT use ORKIN.

I called Orkin to say we noticed bed bugs on our mattress. I was very concerned and wanted someone to come ASAP. I had to wait 3 days and someone did come and looked with a flashlight, and said he saw nothing but someone will come out to apply pesticides if we decide to continue with Orkin. Since we never had to deal with bed bugs, we were told pesticides will kill the bed bugs, with possibly more than 1 treatment. So we decided to have the pesticide treatment done for $494.00 for the 1 bedroom and adjoining wall to the other bedroom.

In the meantime, we got rid of the mattress and box springs. The day they were to come we got a call that the person coming injured his back... so my husband already took the day off of work!!! Also we were told there is only 1 person in Cleveland Ohio that does bed bugs!!! Really no one else. What a joke! So we were told by the rude person named Ron that this person will be back to work the following day. The worker came as planned, sprayed the pesticides and we were good to go. We didn't use the room for a week since we were waiting for the mattress and box springs. Once they came, we assembled the bed and bought the mattress encasing . My husband decided to take a nap for about 2 hours and to his surprise when he woke up, there were several bedbugs!!!

Now remember the room was never used since the Orkin visit. I immediately call Orkin that day which was a Saturday and was told I'll have to wait till Monday to schedule an appt. I'm now extremely upset so we decided to rip up the carpet just in case there were eggs in the carpet. When I called Orkin Monday am, I spoke with Ron, the rude person I spoke to before. He was very unprofessional and loud. He said I had to wait until Wed. for the service person to come back. Remember they only have 1 person in Cleveland that does bedbugs!!! He did say they guaranteed their service and it may take several visits. So I decided I'm tired of waiting on their service with such a limited time frame and staff and of course Ron, the rude person on the phone. Who needs this aggravation along with he bed bugs!!!

I'm out $494.00 and very upset!!! In the meantime, I'm using Bed Bug Burners and decided on heat treatment since it's the only method guaranteed. Oh, by the way, I did ask Ron about heat treatment and his response was, "That's going to cost you $2000.00." Long and short of this mess... DON"T USE ORKIN AND GO WITH THE HEAT, NO PESTICIDES!!

Orkin came without my consent and sends me a bill for $160.00! When I called to ask why, they gave me the run around! After my 3rd call I figured out they had me on the Monthly Plan for extermination instead of the Yearly! They made this mistake. When I asked who exterminates monthly for ants and why, they said "lots of people". I said, "I never signed up for this. You had come yearly in the past." They came in May and June and the kicker is I NOW HAVE ANTS!!!! They rudely told me they would credit my account for the money and CANCEL IT ! NOW who do I call to get rid of the ANTS!!!!!!!! And Have to pay more $$$$.

So called Orkin Man said I did not need tick control on the lawn!! Said he was the expert.... Really, do ticks not go on lawns in Westchester?? If he represents Orkin, they should send him a "deer tick manual". Potential clients, beware.

Orkin had been servicing my house for a year. They routinely would show up with no notice and only treat the outside of the home since I was not there to let them access the inside. They did convince me that they needed to go under the house to inspect. While they were under there, they caused $150 worth of damage to my a/c duct. I sent the bill to them and deducted it from the money owed. They refused to pay for the damage they caused and sent the balance to a collections agency.
