Still the original homeowner. Milgard recently replaced all of our windows after 10 years. No problem.

I'm finding that the quality of the replacements isn't as good as the original. The sun shows a lot of tiny pitting in between the panes. Also, this is the 4th time in two months)that I've washed these "new" windows using Sprayway, then vinegar/water, then straight water, extremely clean rags, then newspapers, paper towels, and finally squeegees and they still turn smoky within a few days. It's driving me crazy. Is anyone else having this problem?

I ordered Milgard windows and door and installed it in 2006. I total ordered about 52 windows and door for my customs home. This morning around 5am or 6am, one window suddenly exploded. It is double pane window. The indoor pane automatically break. It is very luck that it is early morning. No people in the kitchen, otherwise someone shall get hurt. I called Milgard. They said they do not warranty glass, even it is manufacture defect. I try to ask them to send a technician to inspect it. They just refused to do anything and the customer service is very rude. She didn't sound like to help. I just can't believe a big company like Milgard has such poor customer service! I have taken some pictures for the damage.

We recently replaced all the windows in our house with Milgard windows, only to discover several months later that all of the tempered windows had scratches on them. Milgard blamed our window washer, but our window washer was using approved materials. And since only the tempered windows were scratched (and not the untempered ones), it seems like it was a defect in the manufacturing of the windows. Milgard has a lifetime warranty on their windows, which is one of the reasons we chose to buy windows from them. However, when we contacted them about the problem, they refused to fix it.

We had 6 windows replaces with the intent of doing the other 4 later. A contractor installed the windows but we removed and replaced the outside trim.

The windows are Montecito glider style, vinyl.

The window frames are slightly bowed, making some of the windows questionable about air leaks. The glass had either glue or some other non-water soluble material on the glass. On one window, it appears to be a scratch rather than glue.

The thing that sent me to this website is the silicon glob on a web used to open the window. There were quite a few places on the vinyl that seemed to be either glue or marred. All in all, I don't feel like the quality warrants the higher price. We will have to see how they perform.

The metal strips on our Milgard patio doors, which create an illusion of separate panes, are falling off. The black strips that hold them in place seem to have lost their ability to keep the metal strips adhering to them. Once a strip fell off and wedged itself, it prevents me from being able to shut the door. It took me hours to pull the strip out and that is after I had to leave the door open all night.

I have sent an email to Milgard but have not had a response.

Milgard french door lock failed. It wouldn't unlock, so the tech comes out and unlocks it. Then says they may not have the part it needs in stock to fix it...so we're living with an unlockable door in our home...so, will they be responsible the consequences of having our home open.

We ordered a Milgard french patio door with a side panel door. The door was installed and was a defective door. The side panel door cannot be unlocked to open the door. A hinge is defected. The door lock does not work, therefore the door cannot be locked. The slide panel door is not level in the frame. A representative came to see the door and informed us that it will be 2 to 3 weeks before some will come out to look at the door. Meanwhile, we are living in an unsafe home.

2004, the garage window tinting begin to bubble. We were told this happened because it was a South facing window. It was replaced, but we were told if this happened again, it would not be replaced. This year, four windows spontaneously cracked, from a small kitchen window to a 6 X 7 ft window, which looks like it was shot. Like other consumers, we chose Milgard believing they stood behind their warranty. Now after many telephone calls unanswered, we are told that cracked windows are not covered. The windows are definitely defective .

New home as of October 2000. I had Milgard windows installed. One window broke in the first two weeks for no reason and was replaced by a local dealer. Year two in 2002, the windows on the south and west side frames were no longer white now they are brown, yellow gray and have stains. Milgard wanted to paint them I refused that kind of fix. I had three representatives from the company stop by and look. Someone told me they had a bad batch of material and it looks like I’ve got some of those windows. Now 2010, after many calls, they will replace them. I was told to find a contractor and get two or three bids. What a mess! They will have to cut up my home to install new windows and what about the new windows, how will they hold up? This company should be looked into.

The seal and sun coating on my Milgard windows is defective because the seals failed. Hand prints and dirt (from the factory) between the panes of glass is visible. Milgard's lifetime warranty is apparently not lifetime at all; in fact, there is no warranty for the second buyer of a home. Milgard suggested they could replace the windows for $1400. Why would I give this business any money?

My windows fogged up due to a defect in the window. When I contacted Milgard regarding the lifetime warranty, they explained away the warranty posted on their website as that warranty is only for newer windows. They stated that as my house is 8 years old and I'm the second owner, I'm only eligible for a 5 year warranty. This will result in me spending about $300 to replace the lifetime warranty window.

My bathroom windows shattered. I purchased 20 dual pane vinyl replacement windows in 2003. One night, we heard a loud popping sound. The next day, I discovered that one pane was shattered. I contacted Milgard and the vendor, Doors of Distinction. Milgard wouldn't accept responsibility. There is a defect in these windows. Please note the two windows were small. I want other consumers to be aware. I researched before purchasing and these were supposed to be the best.

We purchased Milgard windows in June 2007. 3 windows broke within a few weeks, one is cracking now.The windows are very hard to open and in an emergency they're inoperable.
We called the manufacturer, but they don't want to take responsibility, they bounced us between 5 people and in the end the verdict is- it's not our fault.

The windows are defective and it is Milgards' fault.
