I started working at an LL that was a total disaster. Were operating out of a shoe box packed to the rim with material. We busted our tails for months between customers to get things manageable and all the higher ups care about is numbers and paperwork. Oh and band every single pallet in the warehouse. Who exactly is going to do that with no help and customers in line, No overtime either. No, no. Can't have that. When you call higher ups for suggestions, they have none other than find a way, they come down and want to write everybody up. If you wonder why the employees have a bad attitude, wonder no more.

The upper management is crap. They blow smoke up your butt and basically want you to sell like a used car salesman which I am not. This is no more than a temporary job and if this ** has anything else smart and condescending to say I might have my first ever trip to the pokey for assault.. Don't talk to employees like dogs and totally disregard their concerns. Buy somewhere else. This guy has no idea how many contractors know me and my family and how much business they will lose when I leave. Sorry to the folks that don't get calls back, all the stores are understaffed. While you're at it, look at all the class actions against them and the raid by Homeland Security on their DC.

Purchased 1,000 sq ft of engineered hardwood. Seems very soft, scratches and dents very easily. Complained to the Rancho Cucamonga store manager. He said their contractor (they installed it) can repair it. Not true, contractor said they don't do that. Called the store, woman employee said the flooring was low quality and soft. Why wouldn't the salesman have told at time of purchase? Called corporate who put "James" on the case. Filled out forms, took photos, completed a phone interview. Two weeks later received their response via letter, we are out of luck. Returned to the store and spoke to the manager. He obviously was not interested in our issue. All he would say was "do what you feel you need to do". They made the sale and don't care if this customer is satisfied or not. I could not recommend Lumber Liquidators to anyone that is interested in value for the money.

I spent $4,000 on Strand Bamboo flooring from LL and used their recommended installer. I run a business out of my home with lots of foot traffic and bamboo had been recommended to me as a good floor because it is not supposed to show wear. There were some initial problems with LL because they kept promising me I would have parts that were needed by a certain day and then they were never available, but the floor was eventually installed in June. At first I loved it, then when I turned my furnace on in the colder months I started noticing that the floor was developing gaps. I talked to the installer who told me to get a humidifier and then "work" with the floor to try to push it back into place. I got the humidifier and the gaps just got bigger and more plentiful. I contacted LL via the internet. This was in early January.

After many contacts back and forth they kept telling me that they are trying to figure out who is at fault so that they can get me a resolution. They wanted lots of information and eventually the installer's supervisor came out to look at the floor and he told me that he is seeing this all the time with Bamboo. He said he is now warning people not to buy it. Meanwhile LL has stopped responding to my emails. The Home Service Store contacted me once and I have never heard from them again. No one is accepting responsibility. According to the installation warranty, the installers should have done a humidity test before installation which they did not do. I have done a test now and it falls between the recommended area as specified on the warranty. My floor looks terrible and I have to cover it up with throw rugs so that shoe heels do not get caught in it. It needs to be totally pulled up and replaced! I do not believe that the HSS or LL have any intention of fixing my situation especially after reading all the other reviews. I truly wish I had seen this site before my purchase. LL is selling inferior product and then not standing by the warranty. A class action lawsuit is in order for LL.

I went to the Matthews location of lumber liquidators and both times the sales people were so rude. They were not helpful and was just like here is a bag, take it and call on Monday to schedule for someone to come out. The guy was too busy talking to his Co worker (while helping me) about the Duke game. Also another day I went, I asked for some samples and the lady rolled her eyes and was gone forever and finally came back and had to ask again which ones I wanted! After experiencing this, there is no way I would use these people. Why bother when I can just go somewhere else and receive better treatment.

Also no #10 but two #14s and a bend 1/16. Local store (20 miles away) had me come in to switch out the set. Now I have two #29s and no #30 and will have to make the drive back because they will not ship me the missing drill!

We purchased $1,100.00 in wood flooring for our home in February 2014 and paid with a check, which Lumber Liquidators cashed the next day. We took part of the order home for our Dining Room and the other half for our back bedroom was scheduled to be delivered to Lumber Liquidators in March. After getting the materials home, we scheduled to have them installed with a private contractor. About two weeks later, we discovered that our foundation in our dining room had a crack in it which would prevent the flooring to be used. We returned the flooring to Lumber Liquidators and was told that they did not take opened boxes back (2 were opened so we could see how they laid on the floor), there would be a 20% restocking fee, and worst of all, even though they had our money, we would have to wait up to 6 weeks for a "Corporate" check for the refund!

At that time we were also informed that our back bedroom order delivery would be delayed till June! We had made arrangements to have it installed and there is no way we could wait that long. It also was very upsetting that they never took the time to contact us about it. We cancelled the order and have been waiting for 4 weeks for our checks with no floor in the Dining rooms! We contacted Lumber Liquidators Customer Care and were told they would "Expedite" the checks, but so far, we have not received our refund! Lumber Liquidators policies are outdated and unfair! As far as I am concerned, I will NEVER deal with them again! I get treated better by Home Depot or the other home improvement centers and they can give me a better deal!

I purchased Bamboo flooring, "top of the line", the best one, "the best glue" that is what the salesperson told me. Once installed no more than 2 months after installing, we notice some bubbles coming out and a glue residue along that smells just like a green tree when you scrap a little piece. We suspect that the wood was still green when they cut it for the flooring or else... We did all procedures, left inside the house for the period of time before installing so the wood get "used" to the environment, used the most expensive glue and was installed by a professional. And after making the complaint and having their technician to check and get some samples, I receive a letter saying that the amount of glue used was too little and that I have humidity in my house.

Guess what, after taking the wood out from my living room, there is no humidity whatsoever. And we had some leftover wood so we put it at the spot where we took the defective wood and put the one from the box without the glue, and that is since July 2013, and we don't see no humidity as well. So... about $5,000.00 into trash. Now my house smells like mildew and now I can't afford doing all over or getting another type of floor... this putting my family in health risk. Who can help me in this??? Please help. Thank you.

    Original Review: March 6, 2014

We purchased flooring for the whole house from Lumber Liquidators (LL). It was Bellawood Select, which is expected to have about 5% defect. When we opened boxes for the product, the defective percentage was way higher: misaligned wood pieces, cracked pieces, scratched pieces. On trying to return the product to the store, they would not take it. They would not take the responsibility but will blame our installer.

We filed the case with BBB which went to their warranty department. They gave us more run around filing paperwork and submitting pictures. We ended up utilizing all of our extra pieces plus had to buy more wood. In the end, the warranty department offered store-credit. By that time, it was about 2 months from our complaint date and our project was already over. We asked them to refund us a partial credit but they refused. They asked to send an inspector to proceed further but reading reviews here, that seems to be their usual strategy to squash customer's claims.

LL does not seem to have a culture of customer service. Average homeowner should not walk in their store before having a lawyer go through their warranty policy, which is ridden with all types of exclusions. LL is definitely a bad company to do business with.

We spent almost 2 hours in the store selecting our wood flooring. Every time we made a selection, the "salesman" would check and then return to tell us that it was not in stock. We needed the flooring quickly as our contractor was starting the following week. LL told us that they would receive a shipment on their truck in about a week, which we finally agreed to. A week passed and they called us to say that only part of our order came in. We asked when the rest would arrive and they told us they had no idea, maybe never. The "salesman" suggested we cancel the order. I've never heard a company advise us to cancel the order. We finally cancelled and have gone elsewhere. Luckily, we financed the $3000+ through LL, so we had not made any payments. These people are unprofessional, and their "salesmen" are actually warehouse guys with no people skills whatsoever.

3 yrs ago we had 300 sq. ft of teak flooring put in that began to be concave and crackling. After many hours on the phone back/forth, and many attempts to get the right photos, we received a "form" letter telling us that they were not at fault and that we did everything wrong in caring for the flooring... that we should have had a moisture inspection before the floor was laid. The men who put down the flooring were hired from THEIR list. We did everything possible to follow their directions. Yet the crackling lumber is even under a fiber rug. Now they tell us that we can have the flooring inspected by a professional (who must be chosen from their list). We feel that we have been scammed and, after checking my computer, I see we certainly are not alone. What can be done to prevent other "suckers" from being for the same ride? Also how can we have the wood checked for formaldehyde? I am unable to obtain the good photos with this but can do it later.

We had bamboo flooring put in our house in different segments by LL. Almost immediately we started seeing wide gaps between the planks (wider than there should be). We contacted the store which in turn put us in contact with the warranty department. After filling out their forms and taking pictures of the problem I forwarded all to LL. It took about a week but the man that originally came out to quote the job came by to inspect the floor (December 2013). He said it would be fixed and that he would order the necessary pieces to do the job. It is now March and I can't get LL to tell me if and when it will be taken care of. Some of the gaps are so wide we have had to cover them with rugs to keep our dog from getting her nails caught in them.

I purchased from Lumber Liquidators Brazilian Koa engineered flooring for roughly a 700 sq. ft. apartment in NYC. Five months after I moved in the veneer of the strips starting lifting. I had never washed or waxed the floor. Calling L. L. repeatedly eventually got someone to come to inspect the flooring and it was determined that the cause was due to faulty production. The floor and room were clearly dry...no water had done damage. The fault was the glue between the veneer and the plywood base not adhering. Lumber Liquidators refused to replace the product or to recompense me for the cost which would be in the thousands. Since this floor was laid by gluing to the subfloor which was asbestos tile, it would be prohibitive for me to rip out and replace. L.L. refused to accept any responsibility. I recommend strongly that you do not purchase your flooring from this unreliable and dishonest, shoddy company. Remember they are liquidators for a reason. They are selling imperfect products.

In January 2014 my husband and I purchased Vintners Reserve 12m with pad (10023865). When we were in the process of picking our flooring with a very open mind, our biggest concern from removing our current carpet to laminate flooring was that we have a small dog who occasionally tinkles on the floors. We found this specific laminate and the salesperson here in Dallas did a demonstration and poured a "cup" of water on the floor and wiped up. We were in the store for one hour and the demonstrated floor still looked good. We were convinced from all the salespeople the flooring we chose would be just fine for our specific needs. While at the store we also purchased the spray cleaner by their recommendation and the sweeper/cleaning broom.

Our professional installers put approximately 820 sq feet of flooring down in our home. Only three days later did we start to see swelling on specific areas of the flooring. Our little dog tinkled on the flooring and within moments we were there to wipe up. 5 minutes later the flooring in that specific area began to swell at the seams. We called Lumber Liquidators that same day and talked to our sales person expressing our concerns and why this is happening. He was VERY unhelpful and said that a few months earlier their small refrigerator which was in their showroom placed on the exact flooring we bought "Vintners Reserve" withheld the water all weekend. The local Dallas office would not back their product and gave us every excuse in the book. Keep in mind it was only a few days after the install several areas began to swell.

After a few more days... more swelling occurred. Now we were directed to Customer Service. Again, they were very cold and had us take pictures and fill out a form. A week later we received a letter from Customer Service with every excuse why there is swelling occurring. The letter was definitely a form letter they send all customers with every type of possible causes to any damages or quality of their laminate and wood flooring.

We specifically chose this flooring and spent $4,000 to have a beautiful floor. It looked fantastic for a few weeks and now it is swelling on seams anytime any spill occurs even if it is wiped up immediately. We called the Dallas showroom where we purchased the flooring 4 times the first week of install. Specifically talking to the sales person who said he has a huge dog and swelling should not be an issue and we just needed to call their corporate office because they can't do anything.

In the letter their warranty quotes… what is not covered "moisture, such as leaking pipes, wet mopping, pets, relative humidity, subfloor moisture etc. It states.... Seam Swelling - accidents can happen and therefore spills must be wiped up immediately. Avoid wet mopping, swiffers are most recommended. Spray the cleaner on the applicator mop-head not directly onto floor.

We followed every application above. Lumber Liquidators still will NOT back us and remain to give us a run around. Also, they said if we want to file even further complaints we would have to hire our own inspector at our cost. We are so UPSET and my dream of a beautiful floor has become a nightmare by choosing LUMBER LIQUIDATORS. Don't believe any sales pitch from their sales staff. Just go to another resource for your purchase or you will be very disappointed in the quality of their product and their customer service. STAY AWAY. They purchase poor wood and laminate. If you read complaints below of the HUNDREDs of complaints, you will see how many customers are Dissatisfied and you just wasted your hard earned Money.

We installed Brazilian Teak in our kitchen, dining room and entry. This is solid wood flooring and is extremely hard. There were many boards that were 1/8 inch narrower than others, and some worse. The boards had to be sorted by width and tapered ends cut off. Once sorted the floor went in as tight as can be. The gaps then began to open up, and after two years some of the gaps are nearly as large as the splines. Rather than adding value to the house, this expensive floor is now an eyesore that will cost hundreds to pry out and toss in the trash. It seems Lumber Liquidators must cut corners when drying their flooring, leaving customers with garbage.

I researched a number of products and retailers before I purchased from Lumber Liquidators. I felt that the prices, assortment and knowledge of the staff at the LL store was superior to that of the big box and that of the 'total flooring' stores. Seemed like the LL people knew about hard surface flooring. My job was over $15K so it was a big expense. We bought BellaWood. The material showed up on time and climatized in my home. The installers from the LL affiliated company were pretty good, and installed with a minimum of problems. There was some punch list stuff they had to come back for, but it was all very reasonable and efficient. I had a great experience. It has been about 10 months since install and the floor looks great.

We installed 720 sf of the Morning Star Click bamboo flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators in June of 2013. The material scratches easy; however, the scratches are the least of our problems. The cupping started with the shorter pieces in the hallways. By December 2013, the entire installation was cupping and gaps appeared in random areas. After contacting Lumber Liquidators about the problem, we were told that since we did not hire someone to test the moisture of the subfloor and the humidity in the house prior to the installation of this material, the warranty was void.

In addition, I was told that our method of cleaning resulted in the problems with the floor. It seems that if the cleaner is sprayed directly on the floor, the material absorbs the moisture along the edges and this was another reason for the damage to the bamboo flooring. We purchased a 32 oz. bottle of cleaner after the floor was installed. Most of the time, the cleaning involves sweeping and using a dust mop. About once a month we get on our hands and knees, spray a fine mist of cleaner directly onto the floor and use a cloth towel to clean the floor. Since the installation, we have used the liquid cleaner about five times and still have about half of the cleaner left in the bottle. I guess 16 oz. caused the damage to the entire 720 sqf of the floor, including the material under the furniture and area rugs!! Seriously?!

In reading the various reviews for this product, it seems that there is a chronic problem with scratching, cupping and separations. It seems that Lumber Liquidators will use any excuse to avoid the liability for providing the customer with a very poor product. I understand that a product warranty is only as good as the company that stands behind it. We will have to replace our six month old floor and it sure as heck will not be with a product supplied by Lumber Liquidators. STAY AWAY!!!!! We learned a $5,000.00 lesson the hard way, don't make the same mistake. STAY AWAY FROM LUMBER LIQUIDATORS! The LLI warranty should be condensed to read: Warranty is void if material is removed from factory packaging.

We installed Schon engineered Acacia flooring purchased via LL in July, but the product started cupping, cracking, and even delaminating in some areas this winter. We couldn't get anyone at the store or via customer service to advise us in how to stop this from occurring. Instead we filled out the canned complaint forms and got a canned decline due to moisture issues. We have never had moisture on the floors and we followed the installation / maintenance procedures carefully, thus this was infuriating. We insisted on having someone at least look at the situation and they sent an independent inspector who appeared to sympathize with our situation, yet we received another canned letter stating it is due to moisture testing issues between the subfloor and new floor. Ugh.

After doing more research, we think the drier weather is causing this situation, although we have continuously monitored our humidity and it is within the acceptable range. That said, the air is drier than it used to be. We also find the Schon engineered product is probably due to an unbalanced construction and does not follow ANSI / HPVA EF 2002 3.5 bond line recommendations. Is there any way to get LL to stand behind their product / customer without seeking a lawsuit?

I went to the Raleigh NC store to buy in-stock flooring. I asked about the return/refund terms before the purchase. I was told by a female employee I could return the flooring as long as it was unopened. I was surprised about the lengthy multi-page receipt which included a full page of fine print though. I signed in several places on several sheets of paper for the purchase, took the flooring, and left the store. About a week later I needed to return the flooring. I was told that I would be charged a 20% restocking fee. When I questioned the 20 % restocking fee, the manager, Jason, approached me and mocked me for not reading the fine print on one of the pages of the receipt document.

I was very shocked at his outrageous behavior, but continued to question the fairness of the policy which had not been fully explained when I questioned the female employee who had completed my receipt the week before. I told the manager that she had not advised me about the restocking fee, but the manager insisted in a belligerent way that I was to blame for not listening. At one point he leaned across the counter and threatened me. He kept his hands on the counter but his face was only about 10 inches away from me. He insisted I sign the return agreement but refused to sign it himself. When I asked him to sign it, he placed an "X" on the signature line and threw it under the counter. One thing I don't need to find in a retail environment is an angry, obnoxious, belligerent employee behind the counter who threatens me by saying, "I know your address." This manager acted in a way that would make a customer question his psychological stability. I don't know yet if he actually refunded my purchase price as he refused to sign to acknowledge my return.

The issues came up within days of the floor being installed by Castle Flooring, I let them know I had an issue, but my concerns were ignored. I finally called Lumber Liquidators and filed a complaint with them. They sent an "independent" inspector to my home... and following his report, Lumber Liquidators contacted me to say that I had bought Mill Run flooring which has imperfections, and that my broken boards fall within the normal range of imperfections of Mill Run boards, and said that they will not repair the floor. Really a broken board that is split in half is normal... I highly doubt it. I will never buy another product from Lumber Liquidators ever again. Regret ever dealing with them.

Like so many others here, we are unhappy with LL. In October 2011, we purchased 1200+ sq ft of Carbonized bamboo, click lock flooring, had it professionally installed and have had nothing but problems with it since. The finish is horrible. We have gaps everywhere. There are boards that have cracked/warped on the ends. We run a humidifier in the winter months and keep it around 40% humidity, plus we live in Oklahoma, so humidity is not a problem the rest of the year. A few months after install when we first started noticing the gaps, we contacted the local store who referred us to corporate to file a complaint. We filled out their forms, had several phone calls, they sent out an inspector and... surprise... it was blamed on the humidity of our home and improper installation. Just like everyone else.

We had an inspector of our come out and he reported that it wasn't the humidity or installation. It was a second-rate product, but LL wouldn't budge on their opinion and completely ignored us after that. We've now had this flooring down for 2+ years and HATE it. I get mad every time I walk around my house and see the $5k+ in materials and several thousand in installation costs that was totally wasted. We'll last maybe another year of looking at this junk before we finally spend thousands more to have it ripped out and replaced. I think when we do, we'll load up all the junk we rip out and deliver it to the local LL store. My in-laws just had a vinyl, click-lock wood-look floor installed and it looks FABULOUS compared to ours... and they spent about 10% of what we spent! I hate Lumber Liquidators.

We purchased Bellawood Brazillian Koa 3/4 x 3 1/4" hardwood floors for the entire first floor of our home. We did this because we were assured by Lumber Liquidator sales people - the manager I think, that this floor would be very appropriate for our needs. I questioned several times about the kitchen area and was assured that it was an excellent choice. We were told that if there were any issues, we had our warranty. The floors weren't down a month and I noticed dents. I knocked a half empty bottle of nail polish with the lid on off the counter and it left a dent. My iPhone fell off the counter and not only left a dent, but also took the finish off.

I placed a call to customer service, was assigned a representative who told me to take pictures of the dents and scratches. I did as told to do, sent this along with all other requested info. I received a letter stating that dents and scratches are NOT covered by the warranty. He did not even come to see our floor. My husband and I don't even wear our shoes in the house. We are older, no children in our home and no animals. In my mind, these floors should have remained beautiful for several years not just a few weeks.

One other thing to mention, we also ordered the stair risers for our home. After several calls and always been told they were on back order, 5 months later I demanded our money back. I had to wait 3 weeks as it had to come from corporate. Our stairs don't match our floors now, but that might be a good thing. I am interested in if there is a class action suit against Lumber Liquidators. Thank you!

With any large company, you will have negative and positive experiences. I work for the largest cable/entertainment company in the world, and we are either great (or the devil) depending on who you talk to. It happens and there is no company that is perfect. I always read reviews "first" before doing business with a company. I make a decision based on the negative and positive. I have used Lumber Liquidators for many years and never a problem. The staff has always been great and the product first class.

I had a few things to return and was offered a full refund without any hesitation. Good experience all the way around. I will say that I have a good contractor that does the installing and he knows his business, which I think is the key. I would offer up this suggestion: if you are thinking about using "their" contractor, then do a small room or hallway and see how it goes. If you like the work, then continue. If you don't, then go find a good contractor who actually does flooring.

Pickup was on a Saturday. So I went to pick up the boxes and did notice that one of the laminate panels had a broken locking system on the end which is of no consequence. We painted the room on Saturday and on Sunday began to open the boxes so that the panels could acclimate. Lo and behold there are 17 or more, because I stopped counting at 17, panels that are damaged. I called Monday and informed LL of the problem and was told by a representative that because it was "odd lot" and "damaged materials" that there was nothing that they could do for me. I told them that it didn't say anywhere on the website that what I was ordering was "damaged" or I wouldn't have purchased it. Almost every board is loose, squeaking, the floor is uneven, and the installer use the wrong gauge nails to install it. We have been dealing with their "home store", "Home office" for 4 months now. I refuse to pay a dime for the install and had my deposits refunded through my credit card company.

After months of the Home service store attempting to "shut "us up, they finally agreed and said they will not charge for the install but would only offer a "in store Credit "for the close to $20,000.00 in flooring. We said NO, asked for full refund for install AND flooring and suddenly they want the "independent" flooring inspector to come BACK to my home to re-inspect and tear up flooring, even trying to use the underlayment. THEY told us to use and THEIR installer, assured us was the best (he already told them the install was done wrong because the wrong gauge nails where used). I will now have a lawyer to take over. Within months of installation, we started to experience buckling in the material, creating trip hazards throughout the house. Unsure whether we had an installation or materials issue on our hands, we sought the assistance of Lumber Liquidators to get to the bottom of it. Our hope was that they'd send someone to our property to take a look at the floors. Instead, after weeks of dodging our emails and phone calls, we received a generic response indicating our warranty was void for any number of reasons and that the matter was closed.

I'm preparing to dispute the charges on my credit card, to initiate contact with the Better Business Bureau and potentially to sue them in small claims court. We purchased dark stranded bamboo flooring from Lumber Liquidators. We were very particular to request a very durable floor that would not scratch easily and had the best resistance for moisture spills etc. This flooring was highly recommended by their salesman as one of the most durable. We installed this flooring throughout our entire downstairs living room, dining room, and kitchen. This flooring now has scratches everywhere!! Scratches from everything and anything that is slid across the floor such as: unoccupied bar stools that have protective plastic caps, TV trays that were only slid forward enough to allow us to eat while sitting on the couch, and even an empty 5 gallon bucket when slid a couple of inches. There are many, many scratches all over the house and we have no idea how they got there.

All of these scratches show up as bright white lines on the dark flooring which obviously was not treated well enough to make the surface as durable as we were told. We have no pets, no children at home, no high heels, and all of the heavy furniture have the felt pads to protect from scratching the floor. The flooring was only installed in April/May of this year. We have a thirty year warranty on the flooring and have called the Lumber Liquidators customer services department to complain about the flooring and see what they will do to honor the product warranty.

We are waiting for Lumber Liquidators to get back to us. How disappointing to spend so much money on a product recommended by Lumber Liquidators sales and yet it absolutely does not meet the standards we requested. DO NOT BUY FROM LUMBER LIQUIDATORS!!!! I have never dealt with such incompetence. I never go online to post bad reviews, but I really felt the need in this case. I spent about $5,000 on my flooring & install at Lumber Liquidators. From the first day, they were scheduled to begin work at my townhome, no one showed up or called. I had to call them. They had no good excuse for this, actually no excuse at all. They said someone would be out the following day. Two guys show up the next afternoon, and do a little tile removal in the kitchen, then leave, and say they will return the next morning. Early afternoon, no one shows, so I call them again. Two different guys show up, do a little work, and leave. Next day, no one shows again!

I call the install mgr. and the store mgr. to let them know how my install was being handled, and that I thought it was ridiculously unprofessional & I was very angry. They concurred, and said they would resolve the issues. They were supposed to start the job on Thursday, and complete it on Sat., or the very latest, Monday. They assured me of this. Next day, no one shows again. Much longer story shortened, this continued until the end, which was neither Sat. or Mon., but the following Friday! On top of this, it was not a pro install. They cut some pieces so short, that besides needing to add baseboards, I also had to add shoe molding, which I hadn't planned on doing.

There were also a lot of obvious gaps here & there, as well as a lot of glue remaining stuck on the top of my new flooring. I moved in Aug. 31st, and because they were 6 days late finishing, and I had other work to do in the place, I still haven't gotten all the glue spots off the floor. I will not recommend anyone to pay them for an install, ever! You'd be better off doing it yourself, or hire a professional, do a background check. I asked the employees in the store here on I-45 in Houston to have the regional or district manager call me, since they said I couldn't have his number. Of course, they said they would. It's Oct.1 & I haven't heard from anyone.

Anyone considering the purchase of lumber from Lumber Liquidators needs to read these complaints very carefully or get ready for a very unusual experience. Never thought I would tell this story, but several years back, I purchased some oak flooring from LL near Berkeley California. Once I got it home and started inspecting it, I was appalled at the poor grade (something less than a common). I thought, "No problem. I will just return, pay for the upgrade and get something I can use." Phoning first, I received permission to do that.

But when I arrived at the store, explained the problem, the manager was very hostile and refused. When insisted and told him I had received authorization to return it he grabbed the phone, dialed it and said, "This stupid ** wants to return some Oak." Then when he got off the phone, he became even more insulting to the point of physical threat. Although I had never experienced this type of treatment in a business, it did not take a genius to understand that he was trying to start a physical fight. When I didn't take him up on it, he called the police. Craziest experience I ever went through.

When they arrived, I explained what happened and asked them to stand by until I could return the lumber. I don't remember the monetary exchange except I did get my money back but with a restocking fee. Upon expressing my anger to the yard man, he threw up his hands and said, "Hey, I'm not part of this; I just work here. Believe me, what happened to you is an everyday occurrence." I made a few phone calls, got nowhere and just figured I was lucky to go home rather than the hospital. Always figured the guy was having a bad day, but never went near a LL outlet again. After reading the comments above, maybe I was wrong.

BUYERS BEWARE - You aren't dealing with a reputable company in LL. I'm a reasonable person and I haven't ever felt the need to write a review like this before. My wife decided to get oak hardwood flooring from LL for our family room. She chose the wood based on the colors of the samples in the LL showroom in Roanoke, VA where we live. We wanted the color to closely match what we had in our kitchen which is a red oak/butterscotch type of color common at Lowe's and Home Depot. Went and picked up the wood and opened a box when we got home. The color of the wood was 'natural' - no color or staining at all and certainly no match to what was in our kitchen or to the floor sample they had in the LL showroom.

So, we took the flooring back and tried to get a replacement with the correct color. They did not have a replacement in the color needed in the width we wanted so we asked for refund. They also told us we should go ahead and install the wood and that it would darken with age! I think they must have thought I had ** printed on my forehead. They gave us a refund after I insisted MINUS a hefty restocking fee of 20% ($330). Neither the salesman or the manager would budge on the restocking fee. Mind you, I only had the flooring for a week and whole problem was caused by their own misrepresented floor sample! But the P.O.S didn't give a rip.

They are apparently oblivious from a multitude of other customers complaining, I'm sure. I will say that the restocking fee crap is clearly stated in the paperwork my wife signed and as we found out - no exceptions. For me, I don't need this type of hassle from anyone I'm buying from. I won't deal with LL in future and when I have free time, I'll be posting reviews like this one and telling everyone I know. Hope these suckers go out of business and soon.

I contacted LL and went through all of their required steps which cultivated in an inspection by a 3rd party, Inspection Solutions. I just received the report from LL and was shocked by their conclusions. The inspectors report specified the problem was associated with the underlayment which they had recommended to me and the effects of the direct sunlight exposure. Matt from LL proceeded to write to me that I had violated installation instructions by placing it in an area exposed to excessive cold and heat and in direct sunlight. Nowhere in the installation instructions were any such precautions expressed.

He then proceeded to quote instructions that were completely unrelated to the case at hand. They said I wasn't covered under warranty. Is there a class action on this product? Unfortunately, after the dotted line was signed, things went downhill from there. We decided to go with the installer that they recommended even though the online reviews were not that great. We spoke to the owner and he assured us the project would be installed in a timely manner and professionally.

On the day of the install two guys showed up, demoed most of it and were then gone for 3 hours. Supposedly the line at the dump was long. Being a prisoner in your home during the install for 4 days was not fun and I could have been doing something else for 3 hours. It seemed to take a really long time to complete the project. They spent a lot of time on their phones. Halfway through they discovered that Lumber Liquidators did not send all of the product that was on the estimate sheet sent by Image Flooring and we would have to special order it. That meant our project would not be completed. So after 4 days I was still going to have to stay home AGAIN.

After reviewing the almost completed project, I found damage to my cabinets from the demo. After they came out to install the items that were not ordered the first time, we found we still did not have enough trim to complete the job! The transition areas from carpet to vinyl flooring poorly done. The frayed carpet was showing.

After being assured by the installer that he would let his boss know about my concerns, I finally followed up a week later. The boss finally come out, took pictures and assured me that it would be taken care of. After a week and leaving two messages that were not returned, I finally called the owner. After him making every excuse in the book, he said he would get it taken care of soon. Don't know what that meant but he is not getting the balance owed until I am happy. As I was walking out, one of the employees finally asked if he could help me. I simply smiled and said, not if this is the way you all do business. I sat in my car while still at the store and called their customer care dept. I spoke with them about how rude I was treated at this store. I received an email survey from them. I must have sat in their parking lot at least 35 to 40 min. There were no customers from the time I pulled in the parking lot and when I left. Customer Service Sinks!!!!!

I bought $1,066.02 worth of flooring from (LL) and paid cash for it. I returned 5 cases that I didn't need. The lady who works there told me she couldn't refund me my money from the store because they do not carry that amount there, which was $208.00. I was very disappointed because I paid in cash, but if I had use a credit card she would have put it back on the card in less than 3 days. By the way, it will take 3 weeks for me to get my money. You should have a return policy in the store mounted where customers can see it.

Recently, I had bamboo flooring from Lumber Liquidator installed on Memorial Day, 27th May 2013. The flooring is carbonized strand bamboo, 500 sq. ft. installed. I noticed the odor as the installation took place and found it quite peculiar. I chalked it up as a new product odor especially since the planks just came out of the boxes. Within the next 48 hours I realized it was not a temporary odor. I have burning nostrils; my face feels like it is stinging, and I'm having a dull headache. Yet, when I leave the house, the above symptoms disappear.

The smell has permeated the house and the odor is noxious. I had to close the intake air conditioner vent in that room. I believe the bamboo wood has a high level of formaldehyde. What is LL's past experience in dealing with customers who are allergic to the emitted toxic fumes from the wood? Do they refund/replace the wood? Are the formaldehyde levels carcinogenic? What is the bottom line from LL for assisting their customers who become sick from bamboo they import from China??? How informed are consumers about the constant emission of toxic fumes from LL wooden floor? What is LL doing about the problem? Do they care or they are only concerned with their bottom line... the Almighty Dollar? Class action lawsuit anyone???

On 4/24/2013, we made the decision to purchase laminate flooring for our kitchen. My family had not yet moved into the house. The flooring was installed on 4/25/2013 by a professional installer. We moved into our house on 4/27/2013. Within a few days, the flooring started showing signs of being defective. As normal people do, we spilled water on the floor and within seconds, the flooring buckled and never regained its original shape. It was ruined. This continuously happened over days. We have 3 children and as children do, they spilled on the floor as well as any adult would.

On May 3rd, I contacted Lumber Liquidators and was referred to their corporate office. After calling the corporate office the same day, I was sent an email with the forms to sign. On May 7th, I filled out the form and sent it to them. On May 10th, I received a phone call from a gentleman named James. After we finally had a chance to speak on the 13th, he asked a few questions and said he would get back to me in about 7 days after the corporate dispute people made their decision.

On May 22nd, James got back to me. He stated this was not a defective product and they wouldn't do anything for me. I was very upset over this because their product failed me. I told him that this was ridiculous. After speaking for a few more minutes, he said he'd call me back. Within hours, he called back and told me that I can rip up the floor and return it for store credit. I told him I did not want their store credit. Their product should be taken off the shelves and they should be refunding my money completely. I paid over $300 for this product for it to be ruined in a few DAYS! I paid over $500 to hire a professional to install it so that no mistakes would be made!

So, I have to rip up my kitchen floor, take it back, purchase something else that probably is just as bad but more expensive, and re-hire someone to install it. That's ridiculous. Then, on top of that, I got an email from James with a form to sign saying that I have 5 days to sign it. After signing it, I am not allowed to talk to anyone about this. I don't think so. I called my insurance company and filed a claim. They sent someone out today and the gentleman, who has been in the business of claims adjusting for well over 20 years, took one look at the floor and said, "This isn't water damage. It's a faulty product." My insurance company is going to deny my claim solely, because even they know that the product is defective.

The owner of Lumber Liquidators should be ashamed of himself for selling such bad products. How am I supposed to even wipe something off the floor if this keeps happening? I have to take my time out of my busy day with 3 small children to deal with this. I have to be on the phone for hours instead of being with my kids. And now, I'm out over $700 for a product that in itself is crap. If I were the owner of Lumber Liquidators, I'd take this product off my shelves! I want my money back so I can go buy something that will actually LAST!!

We bought laminate flooring while in Montgomery, AL and all of the flooring was defective. We had to trim the rubber on the bottom side in order for the pieces to fit together. The manager came to the house. They refunded us hundreds of dollars and did not charge for some of the other flooring they brought to the house. We simply worked around the problem and figured it was an anomaly. It wasn't! We bought a house in Knoxville, TN and began the same process but put down the laminate flooring ourselves (STJ Golden Acadia 12mm). We were having problems getting the flooring down and did not assume that it was a defective product.

Upon closer examination, we noticed that a couple of pieces from each of the boxes were scratched. After we finished about 1/2 of the flooring, we started finding pieces that were sticking together, the rubber was in pieces on the back, the front had glue on it and some were also scratched. I called LL and they told me to stop installing and bring the remaining product back for a replacement (not worried about the lot number). I told them that the product was defective and when I returned it to the warehouse, they replaced it. They said they would give me $100 gas money.

Then comes customer service. They wanted to know what I wanted... then offered me 15% refund (after she told me that they could not repeat the problem with the unopened box sent to them). I told them that they did not look carefully enough. I said okay but the lady never sent me the disclosure form. I called back and she said she forgot, so I asked about the 15% plus the $100 gas. She said the agreement was for the 15%. I told her I did not know that her offer superseded my additional expense of returning the product. I have now asked to speak to her supervisor. Bottom line: two purchases from Lumber Liquidators... never again. Do not trust their products or their customer service any longer.

We purchased Bellawood red oak flooring from Lumber Liquidators. After having it in the house for 2 weeks, the installer came to install the floor and informed me that the wood was not milled correctly. We finally were able to return it to LL for an "upgrade" at the cost of $500.00 more to another Bellawood red oak flooring. When the installer came back to install, he said the wood had the same problem. The manager of the store was very rude and we basically had to take the wood because they wouldn't take back the flooring.

Now after a few years (I have been very busy with life so I have not had the time to contact the company), the flooring has (and has been since the day after installation) many areas that are raised considerably and you can feel it when you walk across it; many gaps in the floors and a few areas which squeak when walked on - just as the installer had said it would because it was not milled correctly. Also, when I removed an area rug for the LL inspector to check out the flooring, it had faded considerably in the entire area where the rug was laying. The company would not stand behind its product, and I tell everyone I know or come across, “Do not buy anything from Lumber Liquidators. They sell defective products and do not stand behind what they sell!”

I bought Tranquility Vinyl Plank Click Flooring at LL and installed it myself per manufacturer's instructions. (My father had recently passed and with the small inheritance, I purchased a much needed floor for my entire home. This vinyl flooring has a 50-year warranty.) Within the first few months, the planks began gapping and even lifting up. After a year, it became considerably worse so I contacted Lumber Liquidators. After my complaint, they sent me a form letter saying it was "normal gapping", without even coming to look at it; they closed the complaint case.

So I got a local 20-year floor veteran installer to look at it. I have video of his assessment that it is not normal, and it is manufacturer's defect. Still LL said it was "normal" and again closed the case. I hate my floor. I hate to feel the gapping under my feet. I hate to see food stuck in the gaps. I hate that my father's money is wasted. I hate that this company does not care if there is a defect and does not care if the customer is rightfully unhappy. Lumber Liquidators only cares about money and dismissing the "little guy". My wife and I went to the April sale looking for flooring for our family room. We picked out one type of bamboo flooring. I went to the counter to buy it and the sales guy said he's got an odd lot of better bamboo for less money. We purchased it and started installing it 2 weeks later. We started gluing it down and went to the third box. We found it to be a black color. Mind you, we bought a medium brown. We went to the next box and that one was a light brown. I opened all of the boxes and found them to be light brown.

We went back to the store the following day to return it. First they said it was bought as an odd lot, so it's going to be different colors. Then they said it can't be returned because the boxes were opened. We were told to call customer service. We weren't going to do that. We ended up exchanging it for a lesser product with no additional credit. We had to come home and rip up what was done. I called the store manager the following day and got nowhere. After reading all of these complaints, now I'm worried if this floor will even last a year.

This place doesn't care about the customer. I will not do business with them ever again. At very best, their business practice is deceptive. It was my fault for not opening every box before I started, but I did have expectations of honesty. When I told the sales guy I needed 250ft of floor, I assumed he could figure out I wanted 250ft of the same color and type. But that's what happens when you assume. You make an ** out of you and me.

We did not have it installed until a good 6 weeks later by a contractor. It was in December at the time of installation and by the next fall, we started to see spaces between the boards. We figured it would adjust through the seasons. Well, it continued to get worse and the spaces (some as much as 5/16 of an inch) grew. We emailed and called, but no response from LL. It continued to get worse and we still never heard from them.

We talked to someone at the Home & Builders Show in Duluth, MN and he suggested we caulk between the boards! We could hardly believe our ears. Anyway, it's been 3 years and we are not happy! It was a beautiful floor and we had many compliments on it, but now everyone who sees it cannot believe how bad it has gotten. We paid a lot of money for this floor as we wanted a good one that would last, and we are very disappointed especially with the customer service of Lumber Liquidators. We purchased 12 MM Brazillian Koa Laminate flooring. We used one of their installers and spent close to $3,678.00. We went through the whole process of filling out all these papers for their complaint process. Then they sent us to the company that hired the installers to fill out another bunch of paperwork. It has been many months and finally they had a wood flooring inspector come and look at our floor that is chipping and swelling everywhere in all three rooms and hallway. One would think that it would be sealed, but it was not. We were not informed of that or that there was a special way in which to clean their flooring. Of course, the inspector they hired said it was our fault and blamed it on animal urine for which could be farther from the truth.

I watched where he tested the worse spot on our floor and I would swear on my kids' life (something I never have done as I am one of the most trusting people you could meet and the most gullible, I guess) that it was not urine of any kind. It also was not from any liquid of any kind as we were blamed for using water to clean the floor by a steam floor cleaner for which are advertised to do well on laminate floorings and a Swiffer Jet. Both of which I tried in a very small section of my home and they both left it smudged and streaked so I didn't continue with either of them. And those spots are not swelling. I sure wish I had read this section before we went and spent that money for which we are still paying for and are left with a floor that looks like hell. So we just threw away our very hard earned money as my husband is able to work, but I am disabled.

I am so angry. I even said I would pay for another inspector, but was told it would not do any good. Why not? Because they would find their inspector wrong as he is paid extra to say it is the customer's fault. Of course, they are trying to blame the chips that showed up weeks after it was installed on the installer who won't return our calls now either. How can we get LL closed down as their advertisements are very false and their products should not be sold to anyone? I still in fact get emails and flyers from them about their sales and it makes my stomach turn. Not once did the salesman tell us that there was a special way to clean the floor. We purchased over 700 square feet of bamboo flooring, including installation, from Lumber Liquidators in August 2012. The salesman told us that the bamboo flooring we were looking at was harder and more durable than traditional hardwood and would be a better fit for our home and our family than the traditional hardwood. We also went through Lumber Liquidators for the installation. At the time, LL was offering 24 months same as cash, so we financed our purchases through their program with GE Capital. The installation process was started on September 25th, 2012. The installers were careful with the product as they were taking it out of the boxes and preparing for the install. After inspection of the installed flooring, we found numerous defects involving splinters, breaks, cracks and the finish peeling off. We also found that this floor scratches and dents easily. As we and the installers walk on it, we frequently hear it cracking.

Here is a descriptive account of the time-line:

In August 2012, 706 square feet of the Morning Star 5/8" x 3 3/4" Carbonized Stranded Bamboo flooring and underlayment were purchased from Lumber Liquidators. On September 08 09, 2012, we had picked up Bamboo flooring and underlayment. Materials were delivered directly to the home and placed in the dining room area. On September 25, 2012, Amera-Kora began the removal of the existing floors from within the front entry foyer, foyer hall way, living room, dining room and family room areas. On September 26, 2012, Tear out was completed. Starter rows were established and racking began. We pointed out boards that had a light coloration to their ends and requested they be moved to the outer edge of the floor where they would be less conspicuous.

On September 27, 2012, racking was substantially completed. Nailing began. At the end of the day, the majority of the floor was installed with the exception of approximately 100 square feet to be completed. After the installers had left for the day, we noticed three boards in the living room that show chipping and splitting. On September 28, 2012, when the installers arrived at our home to finish the job, I then pointed out to the installers the three boards discovered the night before. The installer and I carefully went over the remaining installed flooring and discovered other boards that show similar issue. Amera-Kora stopped the installation and calls were placed by Amera-Kora and me to Lumber Liquidators and HSS in reporting the flooring matter.

On September 29, 2012, Amera-Kora arrived and began marking boards that exhibited chipping and splitting with blue painters tape to reference the floor's current condition. It said that approximately ten to twenty boards throughout had shown forms of chipping and/or splitting. Amera-Kora assisted us with moving furniture back into the rooms and temporary door transitions were installed until the floor could be inspected. I also contacted LL to express concern over having a bill due with GE and the condition of our floors. I was unwilling to pay for the product and services considering the conditions. A supervisor with LL told me he didn't care if I didn't pay GE because LL had already received their money and GE would come after us for payment. At that time I called GE and told them what was going on and they filled a dispute on my account.

Over the next several days, the chipping and splitting were noticeably increasing throughout the installation and Lumber Liquidators was notified of the increasing effect. Lumber Liquidators requested that all the uninstalled material be brought to their store for evaluation. In mid-October, we returned one unopened box of Bamboo flooring and seventy one loose boards to the Lumber Liquidators store in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Over the next two weeks, the splitting and chipping was said to have continued to increase. I called Lumber Liquidators to again report the floor's changing condition and to find out the status of Lumber Liquidators' evaluation of the material that had been returned. Lumber Liquidators representative, Barbra**, took my information, stated she would look into it and to get back with her.

Towards the end of October, Barbra ** from Lumber Liquidators called and stated there were deficiencies found in the material that had been returned and that someone would be contacting her to arrange an inspection to the installed portion of flooring.

On November 5, 2012, Mr. Anthony ** from Inspect Solutions had performed an inspection of the Bamboo flooring for Lumber Liquidators at my residence. On

November 14, 2012, Lumber Liquidators representative Barbra ** called and stated that they would be providing material to address the chipping and splitting issue; however, they would require me to sign a settlement agreement. I again expressed my concerns with regards to the chipping and splitting increasing and I stated that I want all the material removed from my floors. On November 21, 2012, calls were beginning to be received from Lumber Liquidators now stating that the issue with the bamboo flooring installed within our home was installation related.

On December 19, 2012, I received a copy of the November 5, 2012 inspection report prepared by Inspect Solutions. Lumber Liquidators was now claiming there were no deficiencies with the material as previously expressed to her by Barbra ** and the chipping and splitting were installation related.

The first dispute with GE and LL was found to be in LL's favor. I then called GE and expressed my concerns and a second dispute was filed. On January 15th, 2013, GE Capital favored with us in regards to our dispute. Our account with GE Capital now has a $0 balance; however, we still have a debt for the installation and a partially installed floor that is continuing to show damage and potential danger to my children.

Due to the conflict with the report done by Inspect Solutions and LL, we commissioned our own inspection. That inspection was done on December 20th, 2012 and the report was given to LL on January 16th, 2013. At that time, LL still refused to work with us and is continuing to blame our problems on installation error. We suggested a resolution to Lumber Liquidators; however, LL refuses to work with us. Here is a copy of our resolution:

"We are willing to pay for the initial cost of the removal of the original wood flooring and carpet when said project was started. Total per invoice provided by Amera-Kora is $460.98. We would like for the debt of the Bamboo installation through The Home Service Store and Amera-Kora be forgiven with no liability to be held against us. Total of installation and other services that were not completed per invoice provided by Amera-Kora is $2101.00. We would like for the debt with GE Capital and/or Lumber Liquidators for the purchase of said Bamboo be forgiven with no liability to be held against us, $3465.29. We request that Lumber Liquidators pay for the removal of said Bamboo Flooring. Estimate provided by third party is $1476.00. We request compensation of $782.10. This total reflects the cost of additional product purchased by us, the inspection done by Moore and Neville, and the cost of the certified letters inviting you to be present at said inspection."

After almost 4 months of getting the runaround, we are no closer to getting this resolved. After doing a number of searches about complaints against Lumber Liquidators, I was saddened to see the number of others going through this exact same thing but happy as well knowing that we are not the only ones going through this. I am hopeful that someone will help us get our home back to a fully functional home.

It may cost you a bit more upfront but could save you on the back end. If you order Bamboo, know that some of the colors can be several shades lighter (so they say). But the fact is they won't stand behind their product and offer a return or work with you in any way. Once they have your business, they could care less.

I purchased $6000 worth of Bellawood, Brazilian Cherry 5 inches planks for my new house. I got a decent price on the wood, but I made a mistake using their installers or should I say their approved installers. They did a terrible job; I now have about 8 boards that are cracked. I only noticed 3 when they were finished installing them. I don't know if the others were cracked then or had cracked since. It was supposed to take 2 days to install but they rushed and did it in 1 day, hence the cracked boards. They said there was nothing they can do about the cracked boards. Also, they had me order more lumber than was needed so now I am stuck with 3 boxes of lumber, which is about $600 or so that I could not get back. People at the store were of no help. “Sorry,” I am stuck with the extra lumber that I have no use for and also left me with enough shoe molding to do the 3 rooms all over again.

Be careful dealing with them; better off going to a local flooring company that has been around for a while and pay a little more. They don’t care if you’re happy with your purchase or not! They just want to get you once. I thought about suing but as an ex-law enforcement guy, who is very familiar with the court system, believe me the way the courts are now, you only want to be in court if you absolutely have to. My advice: stay away.

Buyer, beware! This review is for the Lumber Liquidators on Railroad Ave in Albany, NY. We had purchased hardwood flooring there in the past and used their installation service to locate an installer. We had a good experience with them, so when we decided to remove the wall to wall carpeting on our entire second floor (4 bedrooms and a hallway) and put in hard wood floors, they were the first place we thought of. We ordered over $5,000 worth for flooring, underlayment, transitions, staples, etc. We arranged for an installer through their service (around $4,000 for installation). The materials were delivered on November 7 and stored in our garage. The installer couldn't fit us in until early December. He did a fantastic job and finished on Dec. 12.

There were three unopened boxes of flooring, a roll of underlayment and a boxed transition piece that weren't used - worth about $300 leftover. The installer said to bring them back to Lumber Liquidators for a refund. I returned them the very next day and was told I was out of luck because it had been over 30 days since delivery had been made. This has always been their policy and I supposedly signed something at purchase agreeing to this (no one bothered to ever point this out). I argued with the salesman that the job had just been completed by their installer and there was no way he could know what would be left over until the job was finished.

It's a totally silly policy. These were all perfectly good materials they could easily resell. After many angry words, he relented and offered me a corporate check refund minus a 20% restocking fee (still not received). I couldn't believe that they were so willing to anger a repeat customer who had just spent over $9,000 just to save $300 in returned materials. I can say with certainty that I will not do business with them again and will warn all my friends and relatives.

I went to a store after I read on the internet about Lumber Liquidators' year-end clearance special where everything in stock was $0.19 per sq.ft. When I talked to the salesperson, he informed me that there was nothing in the store for $0.19 per sq.ft. He also said that the advertisement was vague and not clear. I told him that he just lost a purchase because of the advertisement and the fact that it was all just a gimmick to draw people into the stores. I was also informed that if I did not talk to the president or vice-president, then this complaint along with others will be ignored.

First of all, I will give everyone a chance. Second, I am lazy and hate when it comes to writing anything. But when I am cheated out of money and they refuse to see this, here I am at the computer. They sold me too much product, and when they were to credit me my money back, they said they didn't owe me anything. I showed them what the guy at the showroom showed me as the difference ($88.03), they still said no, like they were there when I bought the stuff. Two months later, I am writing this complaint. The product I bought was great. I'm happy, but it is best if you buy a little less than what you need and get the rest on the second trip, unless it's on sale or discontinued. Anyway, buyer, beware. Check out how many 5 or 4 stars they have - zip/zero/goose eggs.

Laminate Floors from Lumber Liquidators/St. James Vintner's Reserve - We went to our local Lumber Liquidators and asked specially for dog-friendly floors. The sales showed us the laminate flooring and said it would not scratch, was easy to install. He tried to sell us a larger than needed amount for mistakes since we were installing it ourselves. My husband is very handy and knew how much he needed. It took a bit of getting used to it, but it did go down fairly well. However, during the process, we dropped a tape measure which left tears in the flooring. Those boards had to be pulled up and replaced. The flooring showed white tears. We finished the floor. Next problem, cleaning it. Nothing I used worked. It showed streaks and spots. You had to get down on your hands and knees, clean the spot, then wipe it dry to try and remove it.

The last problem: If you spill any water, soda, whatever and do not get it up ASAP, it causes the boards to bubble up. It was so cheap. The only thing you can do is pull up the boards and replace them. We have had the floor for a little over six months and we have already torn it out and are putting down a new floor. Not from Lumber Liquidators. Their products are cheap. We have used laminate floors in previous houses and never had these problems. I would take flooring from them if it was free!

We bought bamboo flooring from Lumber Liquidators back in July 2012. Due to a very busy schedule, we didn't install the floor in the end of September. Anyway, after 3 weeks that we have that hardwood floor installed, we have a bugs coming without from the flooring. These bugs are eating the bamboo. Some of these insects are coming out from the flooring. We saw it with our own eyes, it’s nasty as hell! So we called our home insurance and the OR-KID to inspect the whole house (we then kept few of the bugs for samples and took pictures). In just a few hours, they both came in and they both did their inspection and couldn't find any nest anywhere in the house.

So the OR-KID brought the insects to their lab for further inspection and it came out it was power post beetles that it can only find in a bamboo floor. So we called the Lumber Liquidators to do a customer complaint. Stacy was just telling us that we have to do the proper procedure about our complaint. We did all what she told us and we did all the paperwork that we were supposed to do. It has been a month, yet until now they haven't done anything about it and even to contact us. If anyone is buying a hardwood from this company, please don’t even think of going over there.

After being told that the materials I bought would be supplied a certain size, it was much different. When asked about it, they immediately changed their message and said "according to industry standards..." I bought from a person, not industry standards. They offered to exchange if I brought back the almost 2,000 lbs. of flooring. I rented a truck to buy it, manhandled each carton, and now I have to do it two more times? I do not think so. All he would have had to do was say, "Sir, we would be happy to assist in returning and making it right". Instead, he said he could do an exchange when I returned it.

I called the corporate offices and started to explain it to a representative, who had my name and I can only assume could pull up my purchasing record and she hung up on me. I just went to a website entitled "10 ways to retaliate against bad customer service.” I do not intend to go to the extremes like some did, but I will be sure to spread the word about the absolutely short-sighted customer service of Lumber Liquidators. Don't be fooled by unscrupulous salesmen. You bring them your measurements and they talk you into buying extra. Okay, I don't know how much extra but he suggested an extra 4 to 5 boxes since I'm doing so much square footage. He said, "You need to buy from the same lot # etc. But don't worry about anything you don't use. You can bring it back. Better to be safe than sorry, right?" Well, okay, I guess he knows what he is talking about. So we got our floors installed and when we went to bring back the excess, there is a whole new group of guys there and they said, "Oh no, no refunds. Didn't those other guys tell you no refunds on laminate and no refunds after 30 days?" Then they proceeded to tell me that's why they have such a large turnover in staff because of the lies they tell.

Well, I called customer service and I am greeted by a very friendly rep by the name of Bailey, who assures me that everything is going to be okay. He said someone will be back in touch with me, even assigned me his name, Beon ** (sounds fake to me). Well, needless to say, it's been two weeks and no Beon has contacted me yet. Am I surprised? No. The guy at the store says, "Well, you signed the receipt on the second page acknowledging our policies," and I showed him the second page where there was no signature in the appropriate line. I told him, "You see you should give me a refund on these last five boxes which equals approximately $200 after I spent $7000 in you store." He said, "Nope, can't do that." I would have even taken a store credit at that point. Well, they are all punks who don't know what they are doing and I feel very ripped off at all of their blaming the other guy and no one has even gotten back to me. Bad business never prevails!

When I purchased this stuff, I did so over the phone and gave my credit card number. There was no mention of “no returns” at that time. So I had purposely bought extra so we would not run out and then just take back those I did not use. So now I have a $54 roll of underlayment and around $149.30 in bamboo flooring. We went to Lumber Liquidators in Conyers, GA (Atlanta area) after seeing their great prices for laminate hardwood on ads. We ordered Brazilian cherry laminate hardwood, 860 sq. ft. and the trim for $1018. We were excited we were going to get our floors done for such a cheap price. Well ... you get what you pay for!

First of all, we received a call from them a week after we had ordered the flooring stating our order had arrived and to come get it. About 45 min. later, they called back stating that half of the boxes were damaged, did we want to pick up what wasn't damaged and drive to other stores in Atlanta metro area to pick up the rest? We said no, we would wait on the order again and pick it up from the Conyers store.

The flooring and trim came in a week later. We hired a professional to put our floor down. This man had put down many, many floors and knew what he was doing. The installer started on a Friday afternoon and by Saturday was having major problems with the laminate. The flooring was so cheap and so hard to lay down. You put a row or two down, then they would bow up - there were spaces - the snap/lock was not snap/locking at all. It's not even made properly. The snap lock is actually cardboard and was falling apart on the floor. The corners of the laminate were already starting to curl up. The bottom is plastic. It's very cheaply made and looks just as cheap. It took my installer 2 days to install a hallway and 4 rows in my dining room. The laminate just would not stay down!

We had him stop the job and we called Lumber Liquidators. They provided no help whatsoever, basically giving us the runaround. We submitted a claim with Lumber Liquidators on the following Monday after we stopped the installation of the laminate. We providing pictures and statements. We then decided to cut our losses and take back the boxes that were not opened and all of the trim since we had not used any of it. The Tuesday after we stopped the install, my husband took all of the product back to Lumber Liquidators and was given back all but $268. They took back all of the flooring, opened and unopened, plus all of the trim. We were not charged a restocking fee. We were told we were given more money back than we should have gotten back because my husband works for a major employer in our city and that bad word of mouth would have gotten around this major company. Therefore, they want to keep getting business from employees of this major company.

We received a claim denied from Lumber Liquidators 3 weeks later. They claimed they had a person come out and look at the product which was not true and that there was nothing wrong with the laminate flooring. They claimed all the problems with the flooring was "installer error" and that he had not followed instructions and had not used the proper tools to install the floor. All was untrue!

To resolve our flooring issue, we bought Bruce engineered hardwood flooring for our home the day we took back the cheaply made laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators. We paid a lot more money for this but it was definitely worth every penny! We also had the same installer put our Bruce flooring down and the entire job was done in 2-1/2 days, trim and all. I would not recommend laminate hardwood flooring to anybody! Spend more money and get engineered hardwood or hardwood. Do not shop at Lumber Liquidators! They are selling ** products! And they do not want to admit blame or fault for their shoddy products. We are very pleased with our Bruce flooring which is top of the line. You definitely get what you pay for and we are positive proof of that. For such a huge investment as a home, pay more and your investment will come back two-fold.

We recently purchased some bamboo flooring material (SKU 10015503) from Lumber Liquidator and subsequently had the floor installed by an HSS contractor.

The floor was delivered on March 13 and the installation was completed on April 7. At the time of completion, the installment appeared flawless. However, starting in June, we noticed a progressive retraction of the floor from the walls. Later we also noticed that some of the boards in the hallway started to unbuckle and that the gaps between the unbuckled boards progressively widened. Based on the fact that the floor shrinkage started two months after the installation and that we did not use any air conditioning nor heating systems before, during or after installation, we believe that the poor condition of the floor cannot be attributed to incorrect installation or to perturbation of the house climate. Instead, we do believe that the flooring material was poorly manufactured.

According to the manufacturer, this kind of flooring needs to be at humidity of 30-50%. LL and HSS claim that we were unable to maintain the humidity at the levels recommended but we have data for relative humidity for the entire period that we had the floor showing that we were within the limits. I am in disbelief! How can a company so big and successful treat their customer so poorly? I even wrote to the CEO of the company, but I got no response. Please do not ever use Lumber Liquidator. What you think you are saving on materials, you'll pay later 10-fold in repairs and time.

Since the floor has been installed, we have experienced significant gapping. Debris is constantly getting down in the cracks. I have to use a toothpick to clean everything out. The floor looks terrible - I am so frustrated. An inspection was done and gapping was found to be related to environmental factors as well as installation errors. They now tell us our home should be kept between 30-50% humidity which is not possible in our dry climate. We were never informed of this requirement at the time we purchased the wood. The company that installed the floor (Aspen Leaf Hardwood) is claiming no fault and will not fix the problem.

Lumber Liquidators has been helpful to help us explore our options but the home Store that guarantees the installation has been absolutely terrible. They do not return my calls. I have to call them multiple times. They are unwilling to repair the floor because environmental factors contributed. $7000 were invested into a floor that looks absolutely terrible. Our only option is to tear out the existing floor and start from scratch. We have contacted an attorney and it sounds as though the only way to reach a resolution is to sue Aspen Leaf Hardwood, which is unfortunate, but it is not acceptable to have spent this much money and have a floor look this bad.

The 1,200 sq. ft. bamboo wood flooring was installed in August 2011 in our Oro Valley, AZ residence. Within the first 2 weeks, the wood planks began to separate and warp. The installing center came back repeatedly to try and resolve the problem and had to cut in strips of wood as wide as an inch or more. The problem continues to this day and the "cupping and dishing" of the planks has worsened and the floor has "shrunk" and pulled out from under the newly installed baseboard, leaving wide open gaps. The product was purchased through Lumber Liquidators in Tucson, who eventually arranged for an "independent" inspection through their representative, Home Service Store, whose opinion is that the problem is us, the homeowners, for not maintaining 35-55% humidity in the home year round per manufacturing warranty, which was never provided to us.

The warranty information printed on their sales receipt says nothing about humidity control. In fact, LL's sales people told us directly, prior to purchase, that there need be no humidity control. I recently called LL's retail store in Phoenix and was told the same after questioning whether bamboo wood flooring needed humidity control. I know of no one is Southern AZ who has a humidifier and neither does my HVAC center. In talking with other wood floor stores in Southern AZ, they do not recommend bamboo wood flooring in AZ. Lumber Liquidators has declined any responsibility. We have also filed a formal complaint with the BBB in Norfolk, VA, where LL is headquartered, but LL has never responded to them. Also, we have an inspection scheduled August 1 with the AZ Registrar of Contractors.

The installing center installs exclusively for LL in Tucson and has not experienced this severe a problem before, though he states that bamboo is relatively new to the area by LL. He has installed two smaller jobs more recently with the same product which are exhibiting similar problems, though not as severe, probably due to being in smaller, more confined areas and utilizing some new installation procedures, including gluing the planks together. Most importantly, after our floor was installed, he was given these new installation instructions for bamboo flooring by LL. The entire floor needs to be replaced. It is a disaster! The installation, including material was $9,000, but removing the existing floor would obviously entail more cost. Please advise your suggestions for reconciliation of this drastic problem.

Why would I pay an extra $125.00 to get everything here fast and that didn't include everything. You're telling me I have to wait until February 24th to get the trim coming from Virginia. I told Mark this is ridiculous, this is one of the worst experiences of purchasing anything I ever had. I cancelled the cargo van and flooring company appointment.

I was so mad, I couldn't see straight as my grandmother would say. I picked up my wood on Friday, but my flooring people took another job, so I had to wait an additional week to get my floor laid which Villareal's Flooring did an excellent job I might add.

I still to this day have not received the trim and my flooring is not complete. I have called the actual store several times so much so that they say my name before I say hello to say, Hi Ms. ** your trim is still not in yet. Now it was supposed to be delivered on February 24th. I called Feb. 25th because they (Lumber Liquidators) didn't even call me with a common courtesy to tell that my product wasn't in. Mary told me I could pay for an inspector to look at my flooring and provided a recommended inspector's contact information. I disputed the type of flooring suitable for moisture-prone areas. Flooring is installed in our ranch home hallway, living room, dining room and kitchen. I disputed discrepancies in the Warranty Disclaimers and Exclusions on practical applications, etc. I found contradicting information on Lumber Liquidators' video advertising on uses of engineered flooring at below grade level, bath and kitchen applications. I provided dozens of pictures as proof of the problem.

In the meantime, the floor continues to cup, edging finish is cracking and boards are warping. Attempts to contact Tom Sullivan (founder and chairman) at the link provided on the website are futile because the email defaults to the customer service department. I provided a sampling of the several emails between me and Mary. I have spoken to them, faxed and emailed everything requested. I asked Shelly if there was a form to provide it to me so I could complete it. Her response is simply to give her a disclosure. I asked for clarification on what kind of disclosure so I could provide it. I have a string of emails and pictures and other correspondence, yet she continued to insist on a disclosure, which I was to provide within three days. Still no clarification of what she was asking for.

I was shuffled around too long without results. I contacted the State Office of Attorney General for assistance, which drew attention by Lumber Liquidators attorneys. The installer paid for an independent inspector to assess the situation. Since over a year has elapsed, his findings were inconclusive, at best. Lumber Liquidators has placed the blame on our home and the installer for the problem. The installer has offered to replace the flooring at his own expense. Lumber Liquidators will give him the usual contractors discount to get the flooring from them but not absorb the cost themselves. The attorneys office sent a letter to the Attorney General's office that stated their Home Service Store (HSS) and the contractor are concerned that this may not be the best option as the conditions that caused the floor to fail appear to be site related. However, that decision, whether to re-install the floor, will be made by us. Lumber Liquidators clearly doesn't stand behind their product or value the customer. We said it directly to the gentlemen who sold us the floor. We installed the flooring on Monday of this week. So today, Thursday, I had 2 boxes left over as well as a laminate divider. Well, when I went into Lumber Liquidators this am to return my 2 left over boxes and the floor divider, I was told that they do not accept returns on laminate flooring.

They had it in stock. I would have taken only 8 boxes instead of 10 and would have gone back if I had needed more. Please help. I bought 14 boxes of Bolivian Rosewood a few years ago. Then my mother got cancer so I couldn't install it. Now, I bought another 27 boxes. My mother passed away and it is time to sell the apartment. My licensed contractor started a portion of the installation and said the floor is defective, he stopped the job. He doesn't want to be liable. He showed me the issues, differences in width, height and finish of the wood. The height difference is so bad that it would be a tripping hazard! I called the company and they said to file the complaint and blah blah blah. Anybody has any advice for me? Has anybody taken them to court? Anybody interested in a class action? These people are delinquents, who bank on the fact that they sell a very heavy product and make people feel stuck. Not me, I am returning the wood but I want my money back! Now!

We had a laminate floor installed on 7/5/11 that was purchased at Lumber Liquidators in Ocean Township, New Jersey and installed by their installers. The two salesmen, Austin and Dave, were fabulous. The installers laid four rows and said the flooring was defective. They ripped it up and returned one week later with different stock, same brand, etc. I had asked if I should pick something else and they all assured me that it is the best. I have laminate flooring in my entry way and dining room for 12 years with no scratches.

Not long after I started seeing light surface scratches and most of the floor is covered in scratches. It looks like it is from my dog, who is not rough and has cut nails. We contacted LL and after three phone calls, they emailed us some forms and requested 12 pictures of the scratches. They sent us back a form letter stating they do not cover scratches. We went into the store again and spoke to Austin and told him the problem. He said he would file a complaint himself. This is not suppose to happen. He did, and after three calls, we got the same forms to fill out from someone else. It's time for me to take action!

This was the 2nd company assigned to me because the first one was unable to return my phone calls. And for the 2nd contracted installing company, I was supposed to have my floor installed today and could not reach the company contracted through landline. Who knows if they took my money and ran. I guess I will soon find out! Kudos Lumber Liquidators on doing a horrible job with the install portion of your company's operating procedures. Don't waste your time and effort. I purchased laminate floor from Lumber Liquidators. They recommended a contractor they said was the best they used, West Michigan Hardwood Floors. We went with their recommendation and had the floor and wall molding installed on 10/26/2011. The installer damaged the walls of our kitchen, pulled the metal drywall corner piece out of the wall about five inches up from the bottom. The molding corner pieces have about 1/4" to 1/2" gap.

Initially, they installed the molding using two different heights of 2" and 3". I had them change this . When they cut the molding down, it was cut unevenly. It is installed with gaps between the floor and molding. Some of the floor pieces are raised on the ends. A transition piece from the laminate to carpet is not secure and another transition piece was never installed. The installer was out twice to look at the problems. At one point, he said the raised floor panels could be a manufacture defect. Wouldn't know for sure until they take them out and look.

As of January 15th, 2012, they have not been out to fix any of the damage. They were suppose to come out the last time on January 14th but they called at 1 pm on that day and said the installer was out snow plowing all night. I talked and emailed Lumber Liquidators on several occasions throughout this ordeal. The only thing I have gotten out of them for sure is that it is not their problem. That might be legally correct but they have backed the installer on every occasion and continue to recommend him.

Morally, they could have put pressure on the installer to get this fixed. We had to cancel our family Thanksgiving because we didn't want to give them an excuse and have them say anything was damaged from my family. I have pictures of all the damage they caused. I sent these to both the installer and Lumber Liquidators. I also have copies of all email conversations.

The LL inspector deemed that the issues were a result of improper installation, "not adequate peripheral spacing", a complete impossibility, as this would cause buckling! Retained, un-installed boards are showing the same effects. Several professional explanations all point to improper manufacturing.

Our beautiful flooring had an odor that did not dissipate or let up. I purchased engineered flooring on 4/14/2011. My credit card was charged in full on that same day and there was no indication that the product was out of stock. I came to learn that they did not have the product to ship, yet still charged the credit card and they fraudulently did not communicate that to me. I was never alerted when it was shipped to the store. It was only after yet another complaint that I found out 6 weeks after my purchase that it had finally shipped to the store. There was no statement or communication that it was not in stock or that they would not be shipping the product. I checked my status on the website repeatedly and it read "partially processed". I routinely complained and asked when I would receive shipment since they had already charged my credit card in full. Of course, I could not cancel my order because they had already charged my card.

Next, we picked up our order at the store and when we complained that the box looked like "odd lot" pieces, it was not full nor looked like 30 square feet. We were told, "What do you expect? This is not home depot." After loading the wood and driving 40 minutes back home, then unloading the wood, we opened the first box. Piece after piece was clearly marked by the manufacturer inspector as rejects. The manufacturer had marked a large "C" and long lines on each piece of wood noting the many defects. These included holes, large gashes, uneven coloring and mismatching grooves. I immediately called and demanded a refund. I was told this is normal and to open the second box, which of course had the same clearly marked inspection rejects.

I called again and demanded a refund, and advised them to pick up this wood immediately. I am still arguing with a very highly trained customer service staff who are scripted to change the subject and state that it is my fault and manufacturer rejects are what is to be expected. Customer service provides no assistance in resolving the complaint. In fact, they lie and you end up wasting even more time as they try to blame you. I now realize I am not going to get anywhere with them. They are trained not to process your claim and delay the matter so that after 30 days and you prove you have defective products, they can charge you a 20% restock fee.

The invoice you receive at pickup literally absolves them from anything and everything. I have wasted so much time since 4/14/2011 on this fraudulent company. They should not be allowed to do business as is documented by all the complaints on the web. I am going to the Attorney General next to demand they take action against this nationwide company who markets on the web, mails catalogs and fliers to your home, and also employs salesman to call you.

First clue I should have walked out of there. Their customer service is terrible. Buyers beware! The "will not refund your purchase.". One of the reasons was that we could have sat it out in the snow. Hmm...no snow that time of year.

They said the temp variations would affect the product. They didn't seem to worry about that when they had it sitting outside on a pallet in the sun and gale force winds nor that they would return it to a cold warehouse at the end of the day. Every time I tried to point out their lies, they said that "It was not refundable, period." Never, never will I buy from them again. Their solution was a store credit. Well, if the laminate wouldn't work, then why would any of their other products. They do not sell rolled vinyl!

I figured that we may as well use their money as ours, so we did it. Shame on us for not checking the online statements because when I went to pay it off, there was $675.00 in accrued interest.

Purchased another 1500 sf, roughly.

The local folks assured me that the flooring would be made up of over 80% good boards, and that we would have to go through it to find the good ones. When we installed it, about 6 months later, we found the first purchased batch to be about 70% good, though not as good as first quality flooring. OK, though, based on the price. The second batch, however, had less than 5% good boards. Cracked boards, bad finish, major scratches, planer marks, and so on. We also found boxes that were so badly damaged during the planning process that the entire box was unusable.

So, I complained, went through about 3 weeks of sending pictures, and stalling. Finally called and asked to speak to a supervisor. Was assured she would call me within a short time. She did not. The next day, I called and got to her. Was told there was nothing they could do as the flooring was sold as is,I suggested that this was true, on paper, but was not true based on their representation verbally. I had two installers who had thrown up their arms in disgust, wasted many hours trying to find useable boards, etc. In essence I paid for the flooring, and then was subject to paying the dump fees to get rid of the stuff. Also asked why I had spent 3 weeks working to get pictures, installers statements, etc to them, and was told that once the question got to management (her?), the standard decision was made, they would not back the product.

So, I just spent over $3,000 for nothing. I will spend over $100 dumping the stuff. The product was absolutely not as advertised. And their customer service showed no interest in the problem. This company does not have any interest in doing what is right. Also, on a general note, be aware that their hardwood is made in more than one plant, and when you get a mixed batch (more than one plant involved) the widths of the boards will be different, meaning you will have to spend a lot of time keeping the boards in separate piles based on width.

After a close measurement of the bundles at home, I discovered that all the bundles had less that 17 square feet. I purchased eleven bundles, so I paid for 33 square feet that I did not really get. I purchased the 3/4 inch unfinished oak. They claim that I should have mentioned any shortages at the time of purchase. I guess it was my mistake to believe that they were being honest in the description of their product. Before you buy, measure the bundle's length times width times number of layers in the bundle divided by 144. Most of my 20 square foot bundles were actually 16.5 square feet.

I had used this same flooring a few years earlier and had some left over. Mainly pieces had defects. I had to use these pieces to complete my floor even though I thought that I had purchased more than enough new flooring for my project. Had they really been 20 square per bundle, I would have had enough. I had to use the old scraps, that I had to finish my floor because the closest lumber liquidators was about 2 hours away. I ordered a 1,800 sq. ft. of Brazilian Teak manufactured by Bellawood for Lumber Liquidators. What a nightmare! Several boxes arrived damaged upon delivery. The delivery person noted on the paperwork that the boxes were ripped open, damaged and discolored from other boxes. After not hearing from the store about the damaged boxes delivered, I called the store directly and spoke with store manager, Mike. I expressed my concerns and he assured me that the boxes would be fine and I should have no worries about the installation of those boxes.

When my installers arrived for the install (after the boxes had acclimated for three weeks), they too pointed out that several boxes looked beat up and odd. I told them that I already called the store and that they would be fine. They opened those three boxes along with seven others and sorted them by color variation, size, and proceeded with the install. After laying many of the boxes, they expressed that they were having constant issues with gaps in the boards. They pointed out that the boards had two separate kinds of milling and it was causing major problems. The problem was the actual width of boards were very different and so were the tongues. They suggested that I contact the store and let them know so I can return them and reorder new boxes all from the same milling. I called the store and spoke to Ricky. He told me to bring in some sample boards.

The next day, I brought in several boards demonstrating the boards' varying width and completely different tongues. I could tell that Mike, the manager, did not want to admit that they were from different mills but it was impossible to deny. He would just make comments like, "a good installer would know how to deal with something like this," and, "they can be altered by your installer to work." I pointed out that it would cause additional labor which I would have to pay for and I should not have to pay more money to deal with milling issues. He then said that he could send out his own installer (Brian). He said that he would be able to make them work just fine. As I had nothing to lose, I agreed.

Later that day, a woman called and said that she spoke to Mike and her company would come by to look at the floors. Several hours later, there was a knock at my door and it was a woman named "Sarah." She said that she was there to look at the floors. I told her I thought a Brian was coming to look at them as he is the installer. She said that she was his wife. I showed her the boards and how they were all different. She just seemed oddly quiet. She obviously knew they were messed up but didn't want to say anything other than, "don't worry, we can fix everything." I pointed out the many rows that would have to get ripped up. She said that the three boxes that were mixed up with the others could be dealt with by "sorting them back out and putting them in the same rows."

That sounded fine but she said that I would have to remove what was already laid down and also order replacement boxes. She also said that they would only glue down the wood. I told her that as long as the price was the same, that would be fine. She said that Mike would probably replace the boxes that caused the issue. I told her that I would speak to Mike and let her know. I showed her my current installer invoice (3 sq. ft.) and told her that as long as she matched that, I would go with them. She said that she would match my installers and email me the estimate.

The next day, the email comes. Guess what? They wanted $2,500 more than my current installers. Not only that, the glue was an additional $1,200 more. So they wanted $3,700 more than my current installer! She had the square footage at 3 but had the stairs priced out separately and also wanted $1,000 more to level the floors for glue down process. Obviously, I was not going to go with them and she never said that the glue material alone would cost so much! I called Mike and said that I am just going to go with my installer and l am going to return the unopened boxes and reorder the same thing. I even agreed to upgrade the wood to 3/4 inch thick from 3/8 inch thick since they had the same teak in a smaller width but for a similar price. He said to bring them in and I would reorder them.

After renting a U-Haul and breaking my back getting the boxes back to the store, the manager said that I had ten boxes missing. I told him that three boxes had milling issues which ** up the other 7 laid down. I told him about how I called when they arrived and was assured that they were okay. I explained yet again that those three boxes installed with the other 7 were mixed and rendered useless and they had to get ripped up. Mike said that he would only credit me for the three boxes that had the wrong milling. He did not want to recognize that those boxes caused the others to be useless.

Trying not to loss my cool, I told him that I wanted to focus on getting the replacement material (2 1/4 teak) that is listed on the website because it's a similar price. Guess what? The replacement material was not available. The only option he said that I had was to pay for an even more expensive (3.25 teak). I told him that I didn't even want that as I have a 1915 craftsman, I was not comfortable going with such a large width, and that the cost was more expensive per sq. ft. ($3,500 more!).

Now, he was telling me that my only option was to pay $3,500 more! It was obvious that I was getting nowhere with him. He had no compassion to the situation and just seemed to generally not get how I was put in a situation not of my choosing. Let's not forget that this entire nightmare was brought about by having different milling mixed in with my order since they no longer had any replacement material at similar cost (2 1/4)--even though the website says they do.

I requested to just have the unopened boxes I just returned credited to my card. I said that I would have to eat the 7 boxes and just order them somewhere else since the only option extended to me was to buy a more expensive teak. This ** had the nerve to tell me that he would "not give me my money back." He said that he "was not convinced it was a milling issue." Are you freaking kidding me? I was just speechless. To think that I would have to take the hit on all of this is like putting a gun to my head. I told him that since I was left with no alternative, I had no choice but to pay an additional $3,500.00 and order the teak in 3.25.

I left the store feeling sick to my stomach--like I had been mugged. It's just sad when you feel so completely taken advantage of and have absolutely no power to make the store take responsibility. All I can do is share my story and let others know of my horrible experience.

On 4/9/10, Parker Home Improvements (subcontractor of Lumbar Liquidators) installed hardwood flooring in our kitchen. We were told by the installer that we may experience some noise squeaks from the hardwood floor over a period of a couple of days. We never experienced noise squeaks but terrible popping throughout the kitchen. Unfortunately, we have not been able to get any resolution from this issue over the past 12 weeks. All we have been able to receive is poor customer service. The damage has now been done to our hardwood floor in our kitchen by a superintendent due to trying to remove hardwood floor out of the center of the kitchen and then re-laying the hardwood floor back down and then trying to fill in his mistakes with wood putty.

At this point, Mr. ** is unwilling to take responsibility on the continuous "popping" throughout the kitchen (12 weeks of this) and now the damage to the hardwood floor. Now that damage has been done to almost $2,000 worth of hardwood flooring to include installation fee, not to mention the $120 it cost us to fix our security system as a result of his initial installer cutting the security sensor in the doorway during the install. At this point, we will have to have an entire new hardwood flooring installed in our kitchen and we will not have Parker Home Improvements install it! I don't know what Parker Home Improvements was thinking when they thought they could insert screws and fill in with wood putty. But that is not going to cut it! At this point, Lumbar Liquidators should take responsibility for the bad subcontractor that they have working for them! From extremely poor customer service, bad installation and now, damages incurred, I would not recommend Parker Home Improvements to anyone. If Lumbar Liquidators was to recommend them to you, I would not use them.

I have purchased several hardwood floors in the last few years. Recently, I purchased cherry floor. When I got to the register, the salesperson said, "You do know that this is cabin grade' flooring?” To this, I replied, “No, what does that mean?” He then said, “You will notice some variations in color.” That was not a problem for me. As I was installing the floor, I noticed more and more boards that were twisted. I put those aside and did the best I could to work with the remaining pieces. Needless to say, as it dried, the problem got very bad in many areas of the floor. They sent an inspector (who agreed that the boards were bad). They eventually (after many emails), sent me their findings which did nothing but give me all the ways that I possibly did something wrong. They also said, if the wood was bad, you should not have installed it. It has now been 1 month. I have called and emailed the claims department and I have heard nothing. They will not return my calls or emails. I was sold a faulty product and they will not stand behind it. I am now stuck with the task and expense of removing the existing floor, the original labor and the replacement cost. They would not even give me a store credit. You are better off going to a flooring company that will be willing to work with you.

In July, 2008, we purchased 210 sq ft of 7/16x4" Brazilian Cherry floating engineered flooring from LL. We hired a contractor recommended by LL, followed directions to acclimate lumber. About three months ago, we noticed that several boards were cracking down the middle. The first call to LL resulted in their HSS installation people rejecting the claim (without inspection) because the installation warranty had expired. A second call to Shelly resulted in the decision (again without inspection) that there was no product defect. The cracking was caused by humidity. The flooring was installed over two previous wood floors, over a heated basement, above ground. Shelly did not ask if we had climate control in the house. At least seven of the boards are split lengthwise. We fear that more will follow.

I purchased $2,000.00 worth of Builders Pride - not counting labor, which is about the same ($2,000) - with a 25-yr. warranty 3/4” x 4" red oak flooring. I have been a carpenter since 1952 and have installed flooring forever. I installed it, and in two weeks or so, it is cupped so bad that I will have to rip it up and redo it. Their warranty is a joke as whatever happens they say it is humidity. And that’s the answer for anything, and then they want to see the results of testing before and after. Who gets reports and test to install flooring? I have been doing this all my life, and this is the first time that this happened and the first time I bought from Lumber Liquidators that say I do not know what I am doing. Well, thanks. It’s always humidity, not their fault. What it is, lumber not dried correctly. The main office for LL is Lumber Liquidators 3000 John Deere Rd., Toano, VA 23168 / 800-36-6746.
