    I had to contact customer service a couple of times but everything worked out that needed to be fixed. It was easy to set up but I haven't fully finished setting up everything. I wanted one of the key pads set up in my bedroom but there's a signal problem. I haven't gotten around to try and do it again.

    We switched our main security hub to ADT and it went pretty easy. But I've been using the app and I was disappointed that none of our previous Nest cameras show up on it. It was just the new Google cameras.

    I did a self setup but it wasn't good. It was like ADT sold me on the false advertising. They told me all of my stuff would be compatible with ADT and then when I set up the ADT app, none of my stuff was compatible. If I had known now, I would have never got the service.

    I like the self-setup component of ADT. It was so easy and I didn't have to have somebody come out. Their customer service was very helpful in answering my questions and getting everything set up. The only thing was there was a promotion Google was offering to switch to ADT and the rep had to ask the supervisor about that. Otherwise, they were professional and very knowledgeable.

    I armed the system for the first time, and there's a temporary issue with my door sensors. I kept getting the message on my back patio door that the sensor has been tampered. ADT called me, and it was easy to explain everything. I disarmed it 'cause I don't want it going off again until I get home and find out. It could be the doors aren't shut all the way. Other than that, I love the way it collaborates with Google. Everything is integrated, and ADT made all that happen. I was opening up two or three different apps. Now, it's one app. I'm a big fan of it and it's helped me feel even more safe and secure. With the Google stuff, my biggest gripe was when you try to look at a camera, it took two minutes. By then, the folks would have been gone with all the stuff. But ADT seems to be a lot more responsive. I get my camera views right away.

    If my friend had Google products, and they love their Google products, I would tell them, "Go with ADT because they partnered up. But the older devices that you have that say are compatible through ADT, it's a little cumbersome to get those devices at." They don't have functions that the Google Nest had that were convenience functions. The app works, but the app doesn't allow me to do video playback. I have to go to the Google app to get video playback. It works as it provides the security, but the convenience factors are missing.

    The changeover to ADT Self Setup was difficult at first, because once we got that notification, I tried to get it as soon as possible. But there were still some technical issues from Google Nest to ADT. And there was a difficulty in the troubleshooting process, because the experts, when you call the 1-800 number for troubleshooting didn't truly understand what was available and what you could and couldn't do within the ADT app and the Google app and the Nest app. So, it was a three-way issue with the services behind the things talking to each other.

    I waited for six months. And I went back to ADT and request some gear again because I originally had it. I sent it back. I requested them to come out to my house to talk to me about what was going on, some of the issues I had before, and if they had been resolved. They came and discussed the different packages and what I was looking for, and being that the home setup, it would be the best avenue for me. Because I did not wanna go with other products other than the Google Nest stuff.

    We recommend ADT Self Setup because we like it. We do not fully understand how it functions. But I like they make sure everything is properly secure. The set up was an easy process. We are fully satisfied with the functionality. We bought two cameras, one in the backyard, one in front yard. Backyard is not working. It's not getting charged. So we have to bring it down again and again. We need to charge it and put it back. We get the notification every time if something is happening. We feel safer.

    I had the Nest security system which went obsolete. They sent us an email saying that with it going obsolete, ADT would give us a home security system for free. And it was also 12 months free of service. It worked out. It was nice. Instead of having to lose my whole system. But it was complicated to do the online stuff because it was weird. I had to contact ADT Self Setup. I thought it was like a credit. So, I would go on and select what I wanted. But it didn't work. Somebody from ADT helped me out. They set it up properly. The whole kit showed up a couple of days later, which was nice. It's not as user-friendly as the Nest system was. But it's all right. It does its job and has worked properly. There are a few little glitches with it that don't make sense. But what am I gonna do?

    We were told one of the cameras, which we bought the system for, is out of range from the internet. But we were told it would still record and hold up to 10 days so we could go and review it. That's our fault. But we haven't easily been able to figure out how to retrieve those recordings that are not on the website. I called the number listed on the marketing collateral that we received, and that took me to ADT, traditional. So, I had to be transferred to ADT+. I would have rather been provided, in the material, the ADT+ 800 number directly versus being rerouted because I had to call a few times.

    I would never recommend ADT Self Setup to a friend. There are too many obstacles. I got from point A to point B every time and have these issues. The fact that I have to jump through a thousand hoops, go to a special department which isn't gonna do anything, and waste an hour-plus of my time, I'm not gonna put a friend through that.

    If it wasn't for the fact that I got the system the way I got it, I would have jumped out and not come back in a heartbeat. It was one thing after another. I have spent 30 hours on the phone with ADT Self Setup over the last month. I'm techie so I can handle these kinds of things. But it's more than that. The AD+ department is clearly not plus. It's negative. Because it's outsourced, it's people that don't know what they're doing. It's a nightmare. What eventually happens is I would speak to a good department, not the plus but the normal department. And I would get taken care of. But for whatever reason, ADT has that plus department and that's a killer. I guess it's the costing, so with the people that are switching over from Google. But they are not putting a good taste in anybody's mouth when it comes to their product.

    The code that they gave didn't work. And for whatever reason, it was an email. There was some issue there. But the problem is, the first time, it took almost a week to get a good technical support. Because ADT+' technical support is useless, nothing. They're less knowing of this kind of stuff than I do from putting in a Google search. The code didn't work. They had no idea. They threw their hands in the air.

    I couldn't get a technical support person of any quality in a reasonable amount of time. The first one took close to a week. By the time they called me, the batteries were dead on the devices. Because they just go into pairing mode when you get them right off the bat. And I couldn't do anything with it, so they just died. To get to a reasonably quality technical support person can take days. And I have to make virtual appointments. That's ridiculous to me.

    They call and remote into your phone to see if you have any app issue. People who know their stuff. Because when I got to them, they were quality. They knew what they were doing and if they couldn't figure the problem out, they would not waste my time and go in circles. They would just say, "I'm gonna have to get this to the next level or to the proper people." And that would be handled. There's always a good spot of ADT. But getting there for me has been the obstacle course and where the 30 hours of my time has gone.

    Everything is not up and running. The batteries on the remote died. I can't finish the pairing process and they just die. So, I'm waiting on a remote battery because I'm not gonna go up to that thing. Because it's now in a spot where it's not overly convenient. I'm not using it at all until I get a replacement remote, which I assume is coming soon. I haven't seen anything. So, I'm still not 100% up. I'm as close as I've ever been, and it's probably the last thing.

    The setup is not really finished yet in my office and I don't really like the system. The device is bigger than the previous one that I used. The half that we need to put in the office is double the size. Also, it's a little more complicated. My co-workers and I tried to figure out how to use it and tested all the access code. It's not that easy and it took us a while. The menu doesn't clearly tell you how to use it as well and I had to call the customer service and I couldn't really understand what he's saying, although he was nice. I have set up so many device before and ADT is the most difficult one.

    The installation of or ADT Self Setup was frustrating. I had to spend four hours on the phone to ADT support because there was some confusion in the account that we had set up and the equipment. Also, the Bluetooth connection was patchy. It took a while to get the devices linked on Bluetooth. One of the other things is the Nest cameras we have are not supported by the ADT app. That is coming through as blank screens and from the research I did online, it seems like the ADT app doesn't support the model of cameras that we've got.

    That's a little bit frustrating as well because now we have to use the Nest app and the ADT app or just buy a whole set of new cameras, which we don't wanna do 'cause they work fine. But we've got two door sensors and the movement sensor inside the house, and it seems nice and loud. It seems to work. However, I got charged a fee of 20-something dollars, but I don't remember signing up for any kind of payment for ADT. I looked at the billing detail on the settings on the app and it says I'm not signed up for the monitoring service. I wonder why I was charged that fee.

    We have the Google Nest and as part of the transition, it was offered by Google to move to ADT Self Setup at a certain special rate. So, that was what we did. The rep from ADT was terrible. There was no clear process how it goes. It took a few days to get it. There was no responsiveness of representatives in that way. I've called, and I've had to wait three days for a return call. Nothing's been working. I've had to call different areas. I had to request a second setup device because it didn't work. Nothing has been working for almost a month.

    At some point, I got to talk to someone who started to understand the problem which was not on our end, but it was ADT's problem. Once that was fixed, then everything went fine. Sensors cannot be purchased without having to contact someone separately for it. So, the entire experience is a major downgrade from what we had before. ADT is very time-consuming and it's not very intuitive.

    We had to switch from Nest to ADT. I know how to set things up myself so I decided to do it myself, and it was very easy for me. So far, the system is good. You can control everything through the app. There are some features that they should add to the hardware. Otherwise, it's good. I feel safe. Overall, ADT is easy to install and is an extra layer of protection. So, it's worth getting.

    I can't get my lock to integrate with the ADT system but they claimed it will work with it. I've spent a lot of time, but I haven't successfully done it. When I first ordered the system, they were calling me multiple times a day. I didn't have time to set it up at the time, so I blocked some of their calls. My old Nest system was great. This one is not.

    Getting set up with ADT was simple. You just had to sync the system with whatever the little unit was and it didn't take 10 minutes. I like that the doors ding when someone opens them and I would definitely recommend ADT to others. I would tell them that the system is easy to use and you can set it up from your phone. You can set and deactivate your alarm from your phone. You're also notified when anybody's at your front door through your phone.

    The ADT Self Setup product is not working. They're trying to figure it out but the sensor and main machine don't work. Also, when I call them, they put me on the phone for hours. Then they put me with the engineer that schedule a video call but when they find that there is a problem, they don't replace the machine. ADT doesn't care about their customers and I'm going to call to cancel the service soon.

    I've had Google Nest for years and my only option was to go with ADT and try it for a year for free. The setup was terrible. They could not get me setup on the app on my phone. It was saying I was already a customer, but I wasn't. So it took over a month to get that worked out. Then they finally got me to where I could install the app and open it. But I still can't see my cameras. I have to go to Google Home to view my cameras' footage. They sent me a doorbell that goes with it and that's the only camera I've got of theirs. And it does not record because it's not hardwired. Also, when you ring the doorbell, it doesn't ring inside, it only rings outside. I'm assuming that's because it's not hardwired but I don't know why it wouldn't ring at the base.

    Aside from that, I bought a smoke alarm from ADT which I set up and that was easy enough. While we were on vacation, they called me and said that it had to be reset because I put a new battery in it, but I didn't reset it. So I didn't understand that. I had my daughter come over to the house, take the battery out, wait a minute, and put the battery back in. And ADT didn't call me again. But after that happened, I can't get on their app at all. It's wanting me to set up like I'm not a customer again. When I call ADT, they answer the phone but it's never the department I need. So they always say they're going to call you back then it takes forever. And when they do call back, I'm usually at work and can't answer the phone. It's like they don't care and I would tell my friends that going with them is a waste of money.

    I had a Google Home security system and we were given a free coupon to switch to ADT for one year. It was all done online but we had an issue with two of the sensors during our setup and ADT replaced them for free. So, everything was great. ADT sent the system for me to put in myself and it was easy enough to use even though it’s not Google user-friendly. The mobile app is a little lacking but it's okay. I had the alarm go off once, but I disabled it within 30 seconds and I didn't get a call from ADT. So, I'm assuming they've got some sort of detection if it was an accident or not.

    One of the biggest complaints that I have about the ADT home base hub is that the keys are not illuminated. So, If I open the garage door in the middle of the night, I have to turn all the lights on before I can enter the password and I have to run because I don't want the alarm to go off. Aside from the illuminated keypad that Google had, which was fantastic, it also had a dual-purpose door and window sensors. If I set that I was away, not only would it monitor if the door was opened, but it would look out and anything that it saw in front of the door would trigger the alarm also. ADT has two separate sensors for that. You have to purchase a motion sensor or a door sensor. And Google had a built-in light function. When you're walking through the house, if it's armed, it creates a light path while you're walking through the house.

    I was not happy with the system and I called ADT and complained. The smoke detectors didn't even last a month and I'm getting messages that the batteries were low. They're telling me they're fine and low for the same detector. So, I ordered about $70 worth of brand-new batteries to put in them and I'm still getting messages, particularly with two of the detectors. Going into two months, I'm on the step stool, taking the detectors down, putting new batteries trying this and that, and talking to them on the phone. I didn't buy the system to spend my life on a step stool working with the detector. And I’m a fire safety expert. I do codes and life safety compliance. I'm retired now, but I still do it part-time as a living. So, I'm quite familiar with systems and how they should work.

    You go into your cameras and they spend a long time buffering until you can see what's there. I have great Wi-Fi. So, it's not a Wi-Fi issue. I'll get a notification that I've got a hit on my cameras and I can't even see why it's hit. By the time it comes up, whatever is there is gone. I wish I called a local vendor and had him replace my existing home security and fire alarm system. I wanted to send the system back but at this time, it's too late because it's over 30 days. ADT offered a month's free monitoring and sent me two replacement detectors.

    I was bit vague about setting ADT up to have to the monitoring that ADT does. The reps were helpful but I don't think ADT is as good as the Nest Secure that I had. My existing cameras are not compatible on the app. I still have to use the Google home app to monitor my cameras. The best feature that I had on the Nest Secure was to be able to set alerts. I could set up a notification with an alarm. I live around the corner from my business and I have the system in my business. I can choose my alert tone with different third-party app. I chose a loud tone so it would wake me up if the instance that the alarm is going off.

    Now, I have no way of doing that. I just send the email notifications to my junk box because it does me no good to get an email notification that my alarm is going off. Also, before, the response time to me was instantaneous. Now, the alarm will go off for however long. Supposedly, somebody that's monitoring it will call me but I don't have any idea as to how long that takes.

    I had the more stripped out version of ADT’s system and it’s fine. The only issue I had was that I wanted to purchase more of these doorway triggers and I don't know exactly who to reach out to to get something because it doesn't seem like a lot of their stuff is commercially available.

    Setup was super easy. The system arrived quicker than ADT Self Setup said. All the pairing with the devices and everything went smoothly. But it's not as customizable as Google's was. Google's system would talk to me. The app was more intuitive. It was designed for you to do everything on your own. It was self-monitored. It would wake me up if somebody broke in in the middle of the night. Whereas ADT's the system would call. Also, the default setting is I get both an email and a text message any time anything happens, not just if the alarm went off. But if I disarmed or rearmed it, I would get a text and an email. And there wasn't any way to turn that off. There also wasn't any way for me to turn the door chime off. So, it was set up to chime every time a door opened. I got three little girls and a dog. So, it was super annoying.

    That had to be a setting in the app. I looked in that app for an hour. There were no great online resources. I finally called, and the person who answered fixed it for me very quickly over the phone. It had to be changed on their end. But I have to call in to turn off the door chime. Everybody was friendly and it wasn't that big of a deal.

    The customer service is great, but the whole migration process has not been great. I was told by the rep from ADT that everything that I had from my Nest Google account was gonna be migrated over. I have about nine cameras and I have 21 door sensors and four hubs from Nest. Once I signed up for the promotion and I signed up, they sent me the self-starter kit with two sensors. I installed it, went through the whole app, and I found out my old sensors don't work. I called them and complained. I talked to three reps and they had no idea what I was talking about. They were telling me to disconnect and reconnect my sensors and they made me go through hoops that I didn't need to go through, making me feel like I was going crazy and that I wasn't doing it correctly.

    I threatened to cancel and that was the only time that I was given proper information that, unfortunately, the sensors that I have with Nest are not gonna be able to be migrated over. But the only reason I signed up was because everything was gonna be migrated over supposedly seamlessly. The rep said what she could do for me for the whole headache was that they’d give me 50% off of the additional sensors that I needed. At the time, I did what I had to do because of the safety of my family and I bought them but I felt I was misled so I could sign up.

    Now, I'm having to go through two apps and I get my notifications really late compared to before. Sometimes it takes 30 seconds to a minute to receive a notification with the ADT app. The sensors from ADT work but what would be nice would be to have is a button on it where if I wanted just to let the dogs outside to go pee and come back in, I don't have to turn off my whole system.

    So far, ADT has been good. I haven't had much of an opportunity to utilize my alarm system yet, but it's doing well. Google's Nest alarm system expired, and they discontinued it, and they were no longer supporting it, so they gave me a couple of options, and one was to take ADT to replace that. The switch went well. Google helped me along with that, showing me how to make the switch. Then once I set it up, I had a little bit of problem setting up the doorbell alarm. I haven't even set it up yet because linking the Google doorbell and alarm with the camera with ADT is a little complicated.

    I got ADT's doorbell camera and on the first day it was installed, it was working. But now, it rings outdoors, but it does not ring inside the house. I work half a mile down the street and every time I come to work, my camera is saying the camera is out of reach, so I can't even watch that. Their guy was supposed to be coming back over to check everything because I was telling him about this. We initially scheduled a visit but on that day, I had to come into work.     I didn't like the fact I had to set the ADT up myself. It's fairly easy for most, but for somebody like me with no patience, it’s not good for me. But I got one of my friends to do it ASAP.     I'm getting free monitoring for a year. After that, it's going to be 19.99. I wish that ADT's products were designed a little bit nicer. Also, the installation instructions could have been better. I had purchased smoke alarms with the system that came but those didn't connect to the main box. I couldn't get it to work. I even bought new batteries but I ended up sending the smoke alarms back. The return process was relatively easy. They sent me a FedEx label. I put them in a box and the return was free.

    I had the Google Nest system and ADT said they were discontinuing that. Then, Google contacted me and said that they were going to give me the ADT system and monitoring. Everything went well except I've been really busy and I have not had time to deal with the issue that I got. My existing Google Nest camera was supposed to integrate with the ADT app that we've got on our iPhones, and it is not. I can still see the camera when I go to the Google Home and Google Nest apps, but on the ADT app, I cannot see the camera.

    The app says something about the integration and says, “Dining room Nest camera. Limited access. Grant permissions to ADT. Tap to troubleshoot.” I've been through this loop and I have not contacted customer support to try to figure out how to get out of that doom loop that it puts me in. I follow the instructions and they just don't work. So either I'm doing something wrong or it's never going to work. Eventually, when I have time, I'll call customer support and have them walk me through it. But as far as satisfaction, I'm satisfied with everything about the system.

    Switching over to ADT Self Setup seamless. The installation of the sensors on the doors and windows was easy. The app walked through every step. That made it nice. It was nice having the visual representation on the phone that walks through the process and being able to see, "Now, we're gonna do the door sensor one and then door sensor two." I could do the whole thing again now without the instructions.

    The only thing is the Google Nest camera works, but it doesn't show up on the ADT app. But I can go to the old Google app. I looked at the issue online and it seemed to be fairly widely documented. The first-generation cameras don't work with the ADT app. It wasn't a big deal. I only look at the camera if there's an incident. Usually once a year. If it was something I used constantly, maybe it would be frustrating and I'd be upset or, called about it. But the fact that I never looked at the camera unless there's damage to something in the alley or wherever the cameras are pointing, it's not big of a deal.

    I spoke to multiple people at ADT. They told me multiple different things. A lot of people contradicted each other. When I initially paid for ADT, I had money on a debit card to purchase the price of the equipment and I asked one of the reps, “How do I go without changing my card information for my monthly bill?” He explained it to me, and I tried, and it didn't work. My bill went delinquent for a few days. I was sent an email. They told me to add it. It works. It still didn't charge my card. I never got any email saying my card has been charged, so I called again, and they told me that I added the card, but I didn't tell the system to authorize it to do the monthly bill. They helped me do that. And since the day that they helped me pay my bill on my new credit card, they have tried three different times to charge my credit card. It was $3,499 and my monthly bill is $34.99. They are ruining my credit, and it is a problem.

    The ADT app is the worst app that I've ever seen between all of those surveillance apps. Every time, it takes at least five seconds to refresh. This is the longest waiting time between Google, Ring, and Arlo. We tried everything prior to ADT and we're so unhappy with the app that we will not extend the subscription. I understand that ADT took over all the Google devices. But the connection should still be stable so that you can, in case of an emergency, be able to look into the camera within two seconds after opening the app. But the app takes so long and it crashes so many times. I had a false alarm with a call from ADT. The alarm was caused by a delay in the app. I had just left the house, turned on the alarm, and it said alarm set for away. An hour after that, I received a phone call and I checked the camera. There was no movement at the door.

When I was trying to use a code to redeem the starter kit security system from ADT, I had accidentally not added a couple extra security system features like a couple extra door window sensors that I wanted to pay for separately. I had to talk to someone from ADT to sort out that issue. But everything went well with them and they got it all straightened out quickly and easily for me.     The ADT representative I had told me that she was going to give me all this stuff, which she did. But the call got dropped during the call and she pushed it through. And they charged my account 500 something dollars instead of them charging me the low amount so that I could make payments. She gave me the discount for three months but I was still pretty rattled about them taking all that money out of my account like that. They need to do something about that. A representative should never be able to press a button and remove almost $600 out of somebody's account after they told somebody that they wouldn't do that.

    I tried to call back and there was nobody there I could reach. She had left. It took me almost close to two weeks to resolve everything and when I finally got somebody on the line that could speak English and really understand what I was saying, there was nothing really that they could do. The problem is they outsource too much and these people that work in other countries don't really understand what's going on. I even had one guy that got into a verbal argument with me and he refused to transfer me to someone else or his manager. I had to hang up and call back. In the end, they gave me a couple of months for free and I just kept the equipment. It was fairly easy to install and so far, it has been working good.

    ADT's reps have been pretty helpful. Every time I've called there and asked to troubleshoot something, there's been a good response. It was nice to have this product with our other cameras, but now we have to have two apps, the ADT app and the Nest app. You could bundle it under their ADT app, but we still have the first generation cameras which aren't compatible with the second generation, which are all coming out with now. That's our inconvenience though, and it has nothing about them.

    We have Nest cameras and we got notified that Nest was bought out by ADT. If you want your system to work, you're gonna have to switch to ADT. I liked the user interface on the other product but it wasn't something we had a choice to do. But ADT provided the control center that goes with all that stuff free of charge for existing Nest customers. Normally, you have to pay for a monitoring fee but you don't have to now. So it was okay. The sales reps walk you through getting it set up. I don't care for the functionality of the actual product itself as much. It doesn't work 100% with our cameras that were already up in existing so that’s a pain in the rear end. But other than that, the ADT system is okay. It what is it is. We could have gone to a different system but given what we have already invested in, it seemed silly to buy all new cameras.

    I had the Google Nest system and I was told that either I had to get rid of my Nest and move to ADT, or they were gonna give me a credit towards some other products out of the Google store. I opted to go with ADT. They've certainly been friendly and they helped me get my system set up quickly. They were thorough and knowledgeable. They also responded to my questions quickly. They did a nice job and the system appears to be working.

    ADT was a horrible experience and I no longer use the system. It doesn't work. The smoke detectors had to be replaced, and then one by one, they became defective. I was being woken up in the middle of the night because of smoke detectors that weren't working properly, and I was getting phone calls from ADT as well. I tried to cancel service and it didn't cancel. It's been bad from the start.

    We have a Nest system with cameras, but I cannot get them to come through on the ADT app on my phone so I'm running two apps right now - the old Nest app and the ADT app. We got a year's worth of service, and we have the doors alarmed. But for me to see who's coming in and out now, I have to use the Nest app where before, it’s all one app. We had a fire smoke alarm with our old system, but that's now deleted out of the system. They sent us a doorbell with the system, but we can't get the doorbell to hook up to ADT. The door alarms function but that's all that works on that ADT app. We can't seem to get the components to function like we were promised. We called five times for assistance but they had no answers for us. There was one time I couldn't understand the person. They had a deep accent.

    ADT is not as convenient as Nest was. Nest was exactly what we wanted. The system is for a nonprofit organization and we don't want the cops called all the time so we have it set up supposedly that it calls two of our members when it goes off. There's a key fob that would turn the number pad on and off. When our members would come in they just grab the fob, turn it off then turn it back on when they leave. Now, we have to punch numbers in to activate or deactivate the system so we're distressed about that. We got a few hoops to jump through to get it to turn off. This system is 45 miles away from me. I live in a different town than where the club is. If the Wi-Fi goes out, there is no alarm. Nest used to alarm me that Wi-Fi was down. I don't know if ADT gives me a notice or not. I would then call the fire chief and ask.

    We don't need live monitoring. All we needed was that somebody could turn the alarm on and off when they go into the building, which was what we had. We're searching for something else. We don't wanna pay $20 a month for something we don't need. We can monitor it ourselves, which was what we had with the Nest system and it was working fantastic.

    I have had ADT for at least 8 years or more. When I relocated to a new state I had to move into an Apartment and set-up ADT + self install. I did not disconnect my service in the state that I moved from because I still go back and forth to my home and the apartment. I have never had an issue with ADT before. But ADT + self install is a freaking nightmare with a poor outdated app. I have had ADT + for exactly 2 months and it is the worse experience I have ever had with any company since I have been on this earth. ADT + self install is totally separate from ADT. You can not pay online; They must debit your account every month; You can not mail in a check…they have no location.

    I have had a balance of $93 on my account forever. I have called this company several times to clear this balance and they insist that the card that I am using, which is my bank card, is rejecting the payment….Not that they declined payment because of insufficient funds but rejected it and when I asked the rep from ADT+ self install what the explanation was for my bank rejecting the payment she couldn’t give me a reason.

    When I called my bank they said they never received anything from ADT + self installed. My bank only sees the monthly payment of $122 which I pay to ADT for my home. Nothing has shown up for ADT + self installed….which makes me very suspicious of this company. This is my bank card and I am surely not going to give them my credit card. They have sent me links, they have told me how to go into my profile for billing and absolutely nothing works.

    When I asked them to give me their address so I can mail in a payment they didn’t have one…When I said how can I pay online like I do for my regular ADT…they didn’t have a way. Today I told them to disconnect my ADT+ shelf install. I purchased the box and sensors and I am now out of over $200 within a two month period with this company. I was so frustrated with these emails and bings on my phone saying that I owe them money that was like forget it. Just shut this crap off so I can have some peace of mind. Send me a freaking bill so I can pay it…. it's an app for goodness sakes. I can set up Ring and call it a day. What I don’t like are unscrupulous business practices.

    It’s obvious they don’t care and they think it’s a game transferring me from customer service rep to customer service rep. (Who are obviously doing business from home because you can hear the kids in the background)…..then muting me when I express my frustration with this garbage.

    It’s like somebody gave their kid some money to invest in creating an ADT + app and they just dropped the ball and made money off of the boxes they sold us..

    Let’s see what happens and if they continue to let my bill rack up. I told them to cancel my account…

    I went from having a Nest to an ADT covered by Google. So it was pretty straightforward. The Nest security system is obsolete, but all of the Google cameras are still working. So I have pretty much every feature that ADT allows between Google. They're linked in one system. So if I go to my Google home, I see all of my ADT. Or if I go to ADT, I see all of my Google stuff. I can see the sensors back and forth. Also, ADT monitors the cameras. So if there's theft, they can look at the cameras and see what's going on.

    Plus Google is getting big in the home automation now. Even my Nest thermostat is on my ADT side. So it has it as a motion sensor or my smoke detector. They know when people move and what's going on. It's nice. The service is quite expensive. But because Google had to cover the first two years, it's free. That's why I didn't even question it when I switched and I've been extremely happy. ADT has got a good team behind them. So if you have questions, they're really easy to work with.

    They made it easy to get the process started and then get signed up for the service. Overall, I was satisfied with the service package. But I prefer the old school ADT system better than the one that they came and set up. Setting up everything was slightly difficult. But I just Googled it and found a solution. Other than that, everything works. If it doesn't work, I can have somebody take care of it. For example, we have a door sensor problem currently and we still haven't quite figured it out. So we're just bypassing it for the time being. The problem I have with calling customer service is that it often takes an hour or two of my time, and I don't have that time.

    I had problems with one of the sensors so setting it up took a little longer than it should have. You do everything with your phone and the sensor wasn't connecting to the system on my phone. You're supposed to reset it by rubbing it with the magnet. I was doing that, but it wasn't recognizing the sensor. So I ended up using a different sensor and went back to that old sensor later and used it on a different window or door, and I was able to get it. It's fine now that it's up. If you're setting it up, it's only identifiable to your Wi-Fi for a little bit and then it shuts off, so it doesn't drain the battery. So if you don't add it right away and do everything, it shuts off and then you can't find it on the Wi-Fi. That happened to me and I had problems resetting it to get the Wi-Fi to find it. It all worked out eventually. It was just a little hiccup in the setup.

    Overall, ADT is simple to use. I use the main panels to set up my alarm when I leave. I also use the app on my phone a lot. The app is okay, but I have to log in a lot. It logs me out a lot on its own, which is kind of a pain. When you are gonna do anything on your phone, you have to enter in the code. The old system that I had with Google Nest, if you were on your phone, you didn't need to enter the code. You could just hit away or hit home or do whatever in two seconds. It would never log you out either so you were always logged in. So if you're in the car and you're coming home and you wanna turn off your system, you open the app and it says log in. It's annoying.

    I hate ADT. It sucks. I had Google Nest Aware and they changed over to ADT, so they gave me a promotion to try it for a year for free. Setting it up was a pain in the butt. I had to call about four times. It doesn't work with a lot of the other cameras that I've purchased already, so that was a bad collaboration with Google and ADT. The system went off accidentally a couple of times. It amazed me because it was in there beeping, but I never got a phone call from ADT. I can go right now and set my alarm off at my house and it would just sit there and beep. It won't do anything. It doesn't notify anybody.     I contacted customer service when some of the equipment was failing, so I needed a replacement and that was replaced. In the beginning, the process was hard. My account kept saying that it was on a trial period. I kept trying to get out of the trial period and it said that it was gonna be like that for a week but it never got off. I ended up calling the customer service to be able to get out of that. I don't know why their system was telling me that when that was not the procedure to follow. So, that was a little bit not as satisfactory as I was expecting. But it ended up being resolved in the end.

    Setting up was easy. There are a few differences so I'm still adapting to it. But it's going good so far. The only difficulty I have is at least once a month when the door shakes a little bit when you close it and the sensor thinks that someone has tampered with it. I just have to disconnect it, take it apart and put it back together every time to reset it. But that will be the only issue. When I got the Nest Aware system, one of the biggest reasons I bought it was because it connects to the sensors they had, and the door and window sensors can also act as motion sensors, but I don't have that anymore. The ADT sensors are just for open and close functionality.

    There was documentation online for every problem I ran into with the setup. I couldn't get the door sensors to pair to the hub for the longest time and then I realized I wasn't setting up the magnets correctly. They weren't close enough together. So it took me a while to figure that out. But everything else was pretty self-explanatory. I did have an issue with the Nest Aware subscription. When I called in, customer service did help me with that and we resolved it over the phone. Everything's great. The only complaint I have is that sometimes when I go to my phone in the app, it would tell me the system was offline. I do it mostly over my phone to either change the status of whether I'm home or not, or if I go to bed at night. I don't go to the actual device.

    We got a yard sign to put outside out front, but we didn't get any window stickers, so we ended up having to call back and order some window stickers. They made us pay for those. It was $2.49. Also, ADT wouldn't take over our existing Nest cameras unless we got the Nest cameras from them. So it would be new cameras. So we said, “Okay. Have somebody come out and they'll assess our system and give us a price for accepting or not accepting those cameras and getting us a security system.” The guy we had come out and he was a little bit older but he didn't seem to know much about the system. He stood and stared at our motion sensors and door contact devices forever. He said he had never seen one that had been combined into one device. Then we were done in about 10 minutes and we just said that we would get back to him.

    We put a lot of money into the Google Nest system and the cameras, thinking, “How bad can that be? Google owns it. We should be good to go.” It was like a long term investment, and then two years after that, they said, “Oh, we're not supporting anymore. Go help yourself to find something different.” We also have a little minor annoyance about the keypad. It doesn't light up, so we have to leave a light on near the keypad so when we come in at night and see the numbers. But the ADT package was a really good price because it was free. Part of the deal was they gave you ADT Plus system with two sensors. They give you a credit of so much money to go out and buy something on your own. So price-wise, it was the most economical thing to do.

    My experience with ADT was annoying because the system wouldn't work correctly, and the setup was done incorrectly. I couldn't even get through the app. I had issues wherein the app wouldn't let me navigate further than a certain page, so I had to call customer service several times, but then they kept directing me to a different support line. When they transferred me over, sometimes they would hang up, and that was me waiting for an hour or two. It was frustrating. When I was trying to change the router information, the app wouldn't let me and it wouldn't connect correctly. I just kept trying to fiddle with it, but I finally figured it out and it works fine now.

    I like that the system is modular and that if I left this place, I could pick it up and move it from this place to another one and I'm done. I also like that it's connected to Google Home now, and I like the monitoring because of ADT. They have a good rep for monitoring. The setup wasn't too bad as well, but I had problems with one of the peripherals. It was a thing where I was installing with the app and it wouldn't let me name the smoke sensor or let me go past that in the system. If I couldn't name it, I couldn't go on in the install. I ended up having to call in and I finally got somebody to help me, but it was to reinstall the app. That wasn't helpful because I'm already computer literate. I ended up solving the problem myself.

    I went on the computer and was able to name the peripheral through there. The PC-based software worked, and for whatever reason the other didn't. It was a fundamental software flaw. For something main in the app to not work unless you put a name in on Apple iOS, that's not very good programming. I was disappointed with that. Other than that, I like the general setup. I took a camera I had in the hall and moved it out to the garage because I had a windshield get broken recently. With the companies I've worked with before, I have to bring the guy out and it's 200 bucks for the camera. With ADT, all I had to do was just move the camera and rename it. That was nice, and generally, I trust me more than I trust them.

    The service has been fine so far. I haven't had any issues. It's just the customer experience of going through the setup and all the back and forth. I was a customer that had a Nest Secure system, and I was impacted by the switch over from Nest Secure to ADT. I was given a promo code where I would be able to get an ADT self setup system at no cost to me because of the switchover since my Nest system would no longer work after a certain date. When I called to take advantage of that offer, I explained the existing equipment and setup that I had and my desire to have the new system be the same as the old system in terms of coverage and what I was getting for it.

    I was told by the salesperson that that would not be an issue, and that for all of my existing Nest products, if there were any that did not work with the new ADT+ system, they would be replaced at no cost to me. I'd work with tech support first to make sure it wasn't an account linking issue or some sort of setup issue, then from there, I was told that I would have those items replaced, but I had to sign the contract first and deal with the existing customer support and customer account management and not the sales department. I said, "Okay, that sounds good." I signed the contract for the starter kit bundle.

    When I received the starter kit, I installed it and found out that the only existing Nest product that I had that worked for me was my Nest thermostat. My Nest lock did not work with the ADT+ system. I linked the account as I was instructed. I called the technical support folks to see if there was any issue with my linking, and I was told, "No." Those products were not compatible, so I said, "Okay. Well, I was told at the time of signing the contract that if they were not compatible and they didn't work, that they would be replaced at no cost to me."

    That started a whole process that was roughly four to five hours long of my time being bounced to roughly 30 different people at ADT and different departments over a period of weeks to try to get what I was promised. I still don't have a great solution on it, other than it is what it is at this point. The Nest door lock that I had was one of the items in question where the salesperson said, "Yeah, we'd be able to replace it, no problem, if it doesn't work. But I'm 95% sure it will work." In talking to tech support, they've told me it does not work, and there isn't a smart door lock that works with the ADT+ system. So I'm just out of luck, and I'm not that happy about that.

    My existing doorbell camera and door sensors don't work with the ADT+ system as well. I have to install the doorbell that was sent to me if I wanted to connect with the ADT+ system. Through this whole process, I finally was able to reach somebody who told me, "Yeah, we'll send you a couple additional door sensors and we'll send you the keychain fobs." I only received one keychain fob, not two. I received the two additional door sensors which is fine. I installed that. However, I still have to go back to ADT to ask for my additional key fob, and frankly, I'm quite tired of it. It's been entirely too much time.

    The last thing is, I'm an AARP member. At the time of the sale, I mentioned this to the salesperson. He said, "Well, you're getting your first year of monitoring for free. But it should be no problem to add the AARP member discount to your service after you sign the contract." I haven't approached this yet with ADT and I'm not currently paying a fee because the first year is free, but there's been no follow-up from ADT to know whether or not that's even included in my customer file to know if I'm going to get that discount, or if that's something that I'm gonna have to follow up with ADT about again. It's quite frustrating to have to continually follow-up to get things that ADT had already promised me, in the first place, I would get before I signed the contract.

    I got ADT because I used to have the Google home security system. They're no longer servicing it. So, they gave an option to buy an ADT service. My first year is free, and I'm not sure if I'll re-up after this year, but I'm still on safe mode.     I don't like that when I leave, there's no way to pause the alarm. I have to always turn it off and turn it back on. Also, I would like ADT Self Setup to include more door sensors. I have to call customer service about that because I have one more door sensor that I would like to have for the garage door. It might not seem that big of a deal, but we never know. I might have my garage door open or somebody somehow might have my code to get in there and they could just walk in my house. That is an extra safety precaution to me. Other than that, it was easy to set up.

    Abbi: Would it be all right if we ask just a few questions about your experience kind of signing up and then setting it up yourself?

    SAUMYABRATA: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was horrendous.

    Abbi: Our call may be recorded. I do have to ask if ADT offered cash or services for you to only say good things.

    SAUMYABRATA: No, no, no. It has not.

    Abbi: How did you first come to hear about ADT Self Setup?

    SAUMYABRATA: Through internet.

    Abbi: What made you wanna use them over other companies you might have seen on the internet?

    SAUMYABRATA: Because it was coupling with Google and the prices were reasonable.

    Abbi: And how would you describe your interactions with the sales representative who assisted you?

    SAUMYABRATA: Oh, he was very useful. He was very kind and he was very patient and we talked about two hours or so.

    Abbi: And how long did it take for you to get that set up on your own, get all your stuff done?

    SAUMYABRATA: Oh, it took forever. It never happened, and I had to get help from ADT guys and a person assisted me virtually, and then only I was able to get it through. The problem ADT has is the software, the compatibility of this equipment with the network or the Wi-Fi,, when you're coupling up with another multinational company like Google, it's important that you have equipment which takes two minutes or maximum five minutes to set up. All the Google equipments that I had from ADT, they got set up within 2 to 5 minutes. However, all the ADT equipment that I had did not get assembled or set up at all because they had issues with the Wi-Fi and this 2 gigahertz thing, and this 2.4 gigahertz issue,

    I just don't understand how difficult it is to just change a chip which will recognize both 2.4 and 5.2 gigahertz in a Wi-Fi, the standard Wi-Fi which every company gives. I just don't understand. ADT insists on using only 2.4 gigahertz band. And when the Wi-Fi setup, which are by default in everybody's place is 2.4 plus 5.2, you have to stop the 5.2 gigahertz and only allow 2.4 gigahertz to run the setup. And then only you can get it connected, which is absolutely weird.

    Absolute mess. It's an absolute mess. And the problem is ADT doesn't realize that they are partnering with somebody who is really, really good in these kind of things and their equipments get set up very, very quick. And this proves that where ADT stands right now compared to Google. Google equipments, they were quick. They were quick and you could connect them with any Wi-Fi. They in fact took the passwords automatically through the, network through the phone itself and, and they were very, very quick to set up. Two minutes.

    And for ADT, I took something around two hours for three days and I was not able to do it myself. Then I had to give a call to the virtual assistants and they came in and then they helped me with it for about three hours or 3.5 hours to get the setup done. So that's, in total, something around 10 hours to get an ADT equipment get set up. Nobody has that much of time. That is not possible. That is just not possible. Nobody has so much of time.

    To an extent, I even thought that I will return the whole ADT equipment back to ADT people and just by Google or Ring or any other company, because this way, I don't think ADT will survive any longer.

    Abbi: Because it's having so many issues connecting, and like you said, the Google stuff you had didn't have any problem.

    SAUMYABRATA: No problems whatsoever. It works quick.

    Abbi: Overall, how would you rate the total experience with ADT Self Setup on a star rating scale of 1 to 5 where five is you would recommend and one is very dissatisfied?

    SAUMYABRATA: 1. I would give it 0. It was frustration, actually. It was not even dissatisfaction. It was frustration. It's basically lying to the customer that they have a fantastic product and it works well and it does all the good job, great job and all those kind of stuff. And they not only do that. As I said, my first reason to go with ADT was they were collaborating with Google to bring their devices into their software. But the ADT software itself is so poor. It's so bad. It's so pathetically built. The design is so poor. It doesn't connect. It doesn't do anything. But yes, I would say that once the connection was done once the setup was there, I did not face any issues.

    Abbi: But it was the actual setting up that made such a problem?

    SAUMYABRATA: Correct.

    Abbi: .It’s kind of off-putting when you can't even hardly get it set up. And like you said, it was 10 hours. That's almost half a day gone.

    SAUMYABRATA: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Nobody has that much of time. Nobody's paying me for setting up ADT for that matter. Time is money. That's the point. Exactly. There are so many things that needs to be done, and it's not possible.

    Abbi: How would you rate the overall customer service you received from ADT?

    SAUMYABRATA: Yeah, I would give it a 4, I would say. I had issues and I went and I was able to connect to an agent, and I was able to talk to an agent. I was able to get a virtual assistance though it took some time to get that appointment. But I got it at the end, and the person who was on the other side of the virtual appointment was very helpful, was very patient. We took about 3, 3.5 hours to get it through. And I don't know if anybody can be that much patient and sit with you for three hours and 3.5 hours to get a setup done. So, yeah, I would say that I would give it 4 out of 5.

    Abbi: How would you rate the overall security features in your package?

    SAUMYABRATA: That's a good question. After using it for some time, I would say that the features that ADT has given have become redundant now. Yes, they were relevant about 5 to 10 years ago when it was new, the security system was new. Nobody requires a huge sound that if you keep your doors open for 10 seconds or something with a delay. So basically, what ADT is doing is it is giving you a box which is a big sound box which gives big alarm if you keep one of the doors open or the windows open with which you have those security connections done, and some cameras, extra cameras that are connected to the ADT software.

    Now, I keep most of the times the alarm disabled so that if by chance, if I keep the door open for a little while, it starts screaming at me. And then you have to put all the numbers and disarm it again, or give a call to ADT in the middle of this nuisance and loud noise, and it becomes very difficult. So yeah, the thing is I believe what has happened is the things that ADT is giving right now are now more or less obsolete. I think they should think of some more innovative stuff and maybe they should give, along with their equipment, some screens which tells you that somebody is at the front door and show who is at the front door, Instead of Google giving a screen, I think ADT should give a screen and say that this is who is at the outside of the door and how it is done and what all those kind of stuff.

    So I think I'll give a 2.

    Abbi: How would you rate the overall price you paid for the ADT Self Setup equipment?

    SAUMYABRATA: I would say that I am neutral, so I will go by 2.5. That is neither here nor there, but it's only because I'm getting a Google product along with it.

    Abbi: Unfortunately, I can't quite do a half star. Would just a 2 work ok or do you wanna put it at a 3?

    SAUMYABRATA: 2. let’s go for 2.

    Abbi: How would you rate ADT Self Setup’s online tools like an app or website?

    SAUMYABRATA: Useless. Absolute 0.

    Abbi: The lowest I can go is a 1. Is that ok?

    We did the installation by ourselves, and the monthly fee is much cheaper so it's a good deal for us. Then we just buy the things that we need from them and install by ourselves and then just keep a minimum monthly fee. But the window detector has some issues. It doesn’t work at all. But personally, Google Nest service was much better because the app that ADT has for this particular self-service setup is user-friendly but a little bit behind. When someone is ringing the bell, how you get the video, how are you gonna speak to them, how quickly you get the notification, and the interface is not that great.     We had moved into our previous home and they already had ADT set up. We reactivated some of what they had and we had to get new stuff. The guy who set us up was awesome but when we went to do a switch over and then a cancellation, it became a nightmare. We are owed refunds and I don't think we've even gotten it yet. It took so long to get our pay month by month that we had switched to. They need to know what department takes care of what. There was no record of us canceling in August even though in the same phone call of canceling, I set up the month-by-month plan and received the equipment. How could I have done that if I didn't have that phone call? It's baffling. Also, the one time I called, I was on the phone for about two hours and I got transferred to seven different people. And when I was asking someone for a supervisor, the rep refused. We're never gonna use ADT again.

    For a modern system, it's not integrated with other smart home technologies, like HomeKit. Also, the setup was not super smooth. A couple of the sensors wouldn't connect, but eventually, I got them to connect. So it's working. The other day, one of the batteries said it was low, and then it just stopped saying it was low. So it seems like an okay system. The new ADT+ system is supposed to replace the Google Nest system, and you're supposed to be able to control the stuff from the ADT app, but you can't see your doorbell, which they totally advertise you can, and that's the only camera from the Nest suite that you can't look at for some reason. The ADT app is kind of irrelevant. I just don't use it.

    It would be easier if ADT integrated with the Google app or fixed some of those features. If they had better HomeKit integration, then it would be a little bit more useful. But right now, you gotta set it manually separate from a HomeKit or an Alexa scene. It just doesn't work that well with other things yet. Whereas like the ADT Blue system, there's a little bit of third-party support. Ao nobody is making third-party support for the ADT+ system. It's unclear as to how those systems are linked. There are some backend support that services both. But I liked that the system was self-installed. I could do it all myself. I didn't need to run wires and engage.

    The Self Setup was easy enough, but the actual system is just not user-friendly. It is nowhere near what I had before. The transition from the Google Nest to ADT was a pain. I'm not able to resolve it. I lost a bunch of features I had with Google that I don't have with ADT. For instance, when I unlock my door, my alarm would go off before. Now, it doesn't. So, with the kids carrying stuff in the house, it's a pain. They also gave me ADT’s huge lunking keypad. It's gotta go on a counter somewhere. You can't hang it anywhere, so it can't go on a wall.

    When I moved into my new house, it already had an ADT system set up but it was an older one. When I called and inquired about it, they said that with the options that I wanted, I would have to put in a newer system. I like this whole Self Setup thing with ADT. I had one of the sensors malfunction and so I called and talked with technical support, and we did an online video thing to troubleshoot the sensor. It took about 20 minutes. Besides the one sensor being bad, everything's working well. All the cameras are hooked up. I like the mobile access through the app. Even if it's not an actual ADT sensor or product, it integrates with the Google Home. I've got a floodlight camera in the backyard and I've got multiple cameras up around the house, and then it's got the smoke detectors.

    I'm overall satisfied with ADT. I ordered everything online. I had used the actual website and it was self- explanatory. It was all good visuals, good pictures and descriptions of everything. They shipped it really quickly. With the whole self installation thing, you really don't even have to call and talk or do anything. If you're tech savvy, it's all easily set up. Everything was labeled in the box, and everything was easy to put up and set up. ADT is reliable. They've called me a couple times to tell me that I had hooked up my smoke detector but didn't put it up and they had called to tell me that the tamper alarm was going off on it. Then they had called me to notify me that my power was off in the house.

    They're okay as far as, if the alarm goes off, they'll call you right away. However, I ordered some sensor and they took my money, but they never sent them out. That was in November. Somebody was supposed to come out and put it on for me. When I called back, they said, "We actually don't really do that. But we could get it sent out to you." It still hasn't been sent out. Now I have to call them back with my bank statement showing that they took it from me 'cause they said they couldn't find the proof. But other than that, it's okay. My system is good. I feel a lot more secure 'cause that thing never fails. It always dings when I open the door. Everything works.

    The setup was pretty easy for me. The only thing that was a little complicated was I think my devices were labeled wrong. For instance, it was door three but it was door six in my app. That was a little complicated but I eventually figured it out.     My experience with ADT was good until it wasn't. I had to sell my house and move and I failed to realize that I was not near the end of my contract. I had maybe six months left and I told them I needed to end it and I would be resuming it in about six months when I get into my new home. The rep said it was gonna cost me 700 because I was terminating the contract. I told her I couldn't pay that and she told me if I do the apartment alarm, then she could waive it but she needed to set me up. She didn't use the correct terminology that I know now, which is that there are two sides to ADT. She didn't let me understand that it was the DIY side of ADT that she was trying to set me up with.

    She said she needed to run a dollar and I got that she was trying to get me into a new system and it was separate from the system I was in. Innocently, I gave her the debit card, which I have a limit on. She tried to run it for about 500 and some dollars and right in the middle of the call, I got an alert on my phone saying, “ADT is trying to debit 500 some dollars,” which they declined because of the limit. I asked if she just tried to charge my card 500 and some dollars and she said that was not what she was trying to do. She said she would get with her supervisor and she'd call me back in a little while. I waited a couple of hours and I never got a call back from her. I was in a panic because my bank wanted to know it was fraud. The rep tried to charge an amount that I hadn't verified or approved of and so I went ahead and put in a fraud claim. The minute I did it, they closed my card out and I was without a debit card for over a week, which put me in a whole new hell.

    Meanwhile, I get a series of reps who sent me into a nightmare of more than two hours. I got hung up on, transferred, and lied to. It went on and on. Finally, I got somebody who had some sense and he said he understood what the first person was trying to do but she didn't do it correctly and misled me. He explained that in order to waive the fee, he had to sign me up for a DIY, which then means I'm continuing my services with ADT while I'm in the apartment. Then when I get back into a house, we can go from there. It mad sense and he sent the contract and I signed it. I felt better.

    Then I got into the apartment and getting someone to walk me through the process was very challenging. I set up an appointment as soon as I had internet and I spent three half hour sessions with a rep. She was pleasant enough but I don't think she knew what she was doing. I had to wait another week before I got another phone call to walk me through. The second rep was wonderful and very patient. She did everything right and set me up within an hour and a half. The panel that you're supposed to program was not working for the first young lady and the second rep knew a workaround. Once she got us past the hurdles, it was smooth.

    But suddenly, I was in my third nightmare, where they still wanted to charge me the $700. I told them the gentleman who set this up told me that was waived. They said the rep didn't have the authority to waive that. I kept getting calls and I kept getting transferred to people. Also, I remember being outraged that they charged a $400 fee to my debit card without authorization and I called about that. They said they have to use the card that's on file but it was a fee that they never explained to me nor did they have the authorization to use my card for that fee. My card was on file for them to use it for the monitoring monthly. That's 700, plus 400, plus 200 that I spent for the DIY.

    I had enough of trying to reason with them and I went to the Better Business Bureau website. I wrote a very long detailed synopsis of all the events and I called one last time. I got a young lady and I said I was counting at least three areas of fraud that I was pretty sure would go in my favor. Suddenly, she had the authority to waive the $700 but she couldn't give me my $400 back. I was so tired of wrestling with them and I said, "Fine." I asked if we would be done after that and she said yes. I waited and it took about a week for the fee to disappear from my ADT account. And so I'm pretty sure you're not gonna come back at me for that 'cause it disappeared and no one's come for me since then. But that was that whole nightmare. There was a second nightmare, separate from this one, where I sold the home to a first-time homeowner, young lady, probably in her 30s. And I left the alarm in there because I was told to leave all the equipment in the house.

    After a lot of research, I discovered that I was not the only one in a hell with ADT and I find it really odd that their letter grade is so high on Better Business Bureau when they've got complaints. I realized I cannot give them my business again.

In regards to the previous home that you had ADT, the charges associated with $421.68 were in reference to your installment plan and cost of the alarm system you purchased for that home. While the monitoring contract cancelation bill and charges were removed, you would still be responsible to pay for the alarm equipment you opted to have under an installment plan. The authorization to charge you for the remaining balance was also approved via the retail installment agreement you signed as well. ADT does not relocate the existing equipment from the home and customers would need to purchase a new alarm system when moving.

    Our experience with ADT has been fine, but it's frustrating. Like if you wanna buy more door sensors, you can't just go online and buy things. You have to call. With Google, it was very simple. If you need an extra window sensor, you just buy it and add it to your account. Why can't they do that? I was also using it up north and I was calling from my house. I wanted it shipped up north because I was going up there, and I wanted to get it installed. But for whatever reason, they couldn't ship it there. They're not convenient to the consumer.

    The service is fine. It's just the logistics of doing anything or getting equipment is archaic and not easy compared to how Google had it. With the Google system, it was very simple. It should be really easy to do it yourself. Instead, it's not, because you have to do everything over the phone. You can't ship it where you wanna do it. You can't order things online. It's not self-help. You gotta call and get help for everything. The products are also cheaper-feeling than the Google ones and they're not as good. The features could be better.

    The transition from Google to ADT was fine. We had to exchange some of the hardware that we had. For this type of system, it's more of not having to worry about it and that's been the case for us. However, while they do work together, I, oftentimes, get the same notification like someone's at the door both on Google Home and ADT. While the ADT app is good for arming the system, it does provide redundant information a lot of the time from Google Home as well if we're using Nest cameras. I mostly just adjusted our notification settings up to this point.

    I set up the system and it took a process because it was hard to get the box and the door thing to connect. It took about a week to get everything connected and I got frustrated. I looked at YouTube and what happened was they were trying to tell me to do something to the app even though I did the hookup. There were two apps on the Play Store and I kind of got confused between both of them. I thought they were connected. But I managed and finally got it done and it's been a great experience with ADT. I can check in on my home when I'm away and I can download anything that's important and save it into my photo gallery. The furthest I've been away is Connecticut and Atlantic City and I still was able to check in. The only thing is they said that it lasts about three months from the charge but I've noticed it's probably about two weeks. I don't know if there's a function that I could use or if I could turn it off when I don't need it. I just keep it on so I've never had three months.

    For the most part, the transition from Google to ADT was okay. But you have to take notes while you're doing it so you remember the codes that you put in. Because otherwise, you can make it more difficult for yourself to use the ADT+ app later. It asked me to put in a setup pin at one point and I had forgotten. I entered in a setup pin and I forgot it immediately. I was still able to get it somehow. I went through some convoluted ways to find it. But unless you memorize that immediately, there's no way of getting it back. There was no way of anything telling you that. That was ridiculous.

    I also think we have a Nest lock. Some codes did not work anymore and needed to be reprogrammed. Those two things were my major hang-ups. I also don't know how to arm it. Partly, because I didn't know the setup code. Also, the bell always goes off whenever you open the door. And there's no way to turn off that bell as far as I can tell. But the quality of the product seems to be good.

I've brought that to their attention since I received services. Everyone I talked to tried to see if they could fix it. But I haven't gotten any results.     The setup of the ADT was simple. I set up the device and the sensors and the doorbell camera deal. That was fine. The system was fine. But it hasn't prompted me or told me how to set up the alarm, like activate it, or deactivate it with their code. It was not user-friendly, because up to now I still haven't figured it out. I tried to get support but couldn't get past the first stage. To begin with, whatever Google sent me to ADT which is the ADT Aware or Alarm, I received it but that's all I could use. I'm not able to view my other cameras that I already had. When they told me that they would be compatible, they were not. Even though they're from the same company as Nest.

    They told me, "Nest is gonna work with us." But it seems to be now that those cameras are outdated. Yet I can only view them on the Google app. I cannot view them on the ADT app. I cannot control my Nest thermostat through the ADT app. I can control it through the Google app. I cannot view my outside cameras or my inside cameras through the ADT. The only thing I can do with the ADT is the new package that they sent me, which is the two sensors for the doors, the Nest doorbell, and that's it. I am extremely dissatisfied. I have a system out there that doesn't work with ADT. It seems like I have to reinvest in cameras and they're not cheap.

I did what the technician advised and I also went out and bought something to help. But if the products aren't good, they're not good.     I had Google Nest and they sent me an email saying that they were no longer gonna be a thing and that they would give me ADT for free for a year. I tried it and they sent me the box in the mail and I just unplugged my Nest and plugged in my ADT stuff. I was able to log in with my Google account immediately on the ADT and just switched it over to the app. It was extremely easy. I like it. I haven't had any problems with it, so far. We had a little bit of a hiccup two weeks into it. But all I had to do was reset my ADT box. It was some power surge or outage that freaked it out a little bit. As soon as I reset it, I hit the reset button on the bottom of the box, and everything started working fine. I like the sense of security about it.     Google Nest cancelled the support for the security system and ADT is the only place that I could get some sort of credit back from the money that I invested in that. Their reps have been frustrating to deal with. First of all, my installation didn't go well and I had to keep on calling back to figure out what was wrong with it. I kept on getting sent malfunctions and the sensors kept on tripping off, sometimes in the middle of the night. I kept on getting the answer for a couple of months that something was wrong with the app but something like this shouldn't be down for two months. Also, every time I called back, I had to repeat everything that I said to everyone. There was no continuity. Aside from that, many times, I was told I'd get an email or a phone call, and I never did. But everyone was courteous. It's just that their way of handling customers was not streamlined. So, I got rid of the system.

    I was a Legacy Google Nest user and ADT was offered as an alternative solution as Google phased out their product. I did the self-setup option and it was more cumbersome than the Google setup. Connecting the various devices to the hub was difficult in 50% of the devices. After it got set up, it's been fine but my biggest complaint with them is when a motion detector battery gets low, I have to replace it instantly or it's an undue burden to deal with all the messages, warnings, and beepings. But when it went off in the middle of the night with the motion detector that I must have set up improperly, the response seemed to be an adequate time.

    The initial setup was pretty easy and when the systems were working fine, it was good, although I had some difficulty to do some voice controls. But I'm not using the system now because I updated my Wi-Fi and after I updated, there was no way for me to reboot it. I've called a couple of times and I couldn't resolve it so I have to give them a call again. I've been busy and I couldn't give them a call again. There are long wait times on the call. It's not very easy to get in contact with an actual person. You don't get to somebody directly and you have to go through the automated system. Then, you connect to like a common agent and they will figure it out and send to somebody. Sometimes, that's not the right person again, so it has to go to somebody else.

    I recently canceled my membership with ADT because I moved and changed the type of security that I had. When I made the switch, I called to cancel and was told that my subscription was canceled and they were going to close out my account. But I later learned that I was still being charged for the home that I initially had ADT through. So I was getting double charged. I called ADT and learned that my setup was established with a what I call the broker-type relationship. So there was an affiliated ADT licensed broker and I needed to call the broker. But as a customer, I did not know that. They did not make that clear, and it felt like an expensive way to cancel my subscription when I was told upfront that my initial cancellation went through.

    I called the broker this time to cancel. But there was confusion with the broker because there was no record that I initially called ADT corporate, so there was no communication between ADT and the broker. When I asked ADT for a refund for the month that I had been charged, they told me I had to go to the corporate side to get that done. So it was just a lot of cumbersome back and forth between me as a customer trying to navigate how to cancel my initial subscription, and then also confusion around setting up my new account. So communicating as a customer, I have to navigate my cancellation journey versus them walking me through that.

    I always found it very funny that I would get calls from ADT installers saying, “Oh, I saw you moved. Do you need help?” But I’d tell them, “Oh, I've already set up my account. Why are you calling me?” Then they would ask me if I had a deal, but the deals were for the in-home wired system. So there was obviously communication that I was flagged with a new home. But the type of account that I had, no one had any knowledge of these different callers that I was receiving that I had already got my stuff set up here at home.

    Since I switched my system, I am 85% of the way there, following the instructions of installing the doorbell and the little hub. That piece is good. But what I can't quite figure out is how to connect it to my Google Home. My Google Home is set up with my partner's email, but the ADT is set up through my email. So there's some sort of disconnect with the setup because the emails are not the same. If you wanted the wired help, you can get assistance with someone coming in and doing the installation for you. But when you're doing it yourself, you literally have to do it yourself. There are literally two pieces of paper when you open the box. There's a video to install the doorbell but I don't know if there's a call-in help customer service type system. But to have someone install it, I was told it was 100 bucks if I had the wired. But that's not the option that I wanted because I rent now and I don't own my home.

    I used to have my system through Google Nest and I got an email saying that everything was being transferred to ADT. So far, it's not going great with them. With the previous company, I was able to monitor the cameras, save the videos, and get alerts on my phone. Right now, I'm not getting that. I'm not saving all the recordings and I'm not getting alerts from the security in the door. And sometimes I lose signal a lot, which I know has nothing to do with the internet. I feel lost right now with what I have. The only good thing is that ADT gave me a year for free and if I like it, I can continue to pay the fee that they charge a month or go elsewhere. They're also pretty good with their customer service. Once they answer the phone, they want to help you.

    One time, when the alarm accidentally went off, it took a very long period of time to wait for them to respond. I did it twice. Also, they told me that the cameras that I had before were going to merge with ADT but they didn't even though they still use the same outdoor cameras which are the Google cameras. They told me that I had to buy new cameras and I bought new ones, but the service has gotten worse.

    In setting up the equipment in the house, I had to go around the house and find good spots to put the sensors. For the most part, it was fairly easy and simple to follow. It took me just over an hour to finish. So far, the ADT system has been pretty good and I really like the remote stuff that you can do from the app. You can go on there and set up rules for it to auto arm during the day, and you can arm or disarm. It seems like it has a lot of customization capability. The door sensors work but they don't account for doors with a design. They have a frame around the door and they stick out a little more than the door. In my case, it was fine. But for others, there might be a selection of different types of sensors. I feel more secure with the system in place. I also like that in the event of a break-in, if the person who's breaking in tells you to disarm the alarm, the false code "disarms" it but still contacts authorities.

    ADT Self Setup is relatively simple. It's just plug-and-play mostly. I had one issue when I was setting it up and I managed to get in touch with customer service who helped me through it and it was fine. Their customer service is good. The only thing that lets it down is the app. The app is awful to use. It is buggy and slow. You rely on the app to do everything. You can use Google to access all the devices in your ADT security system. You could also use the ADT app to access all the devices in your security system. You must use the ADT app to arm the alarm for the house, but it doesn't access all the cameras.

    It's not compatible with all the cameras. It's very inconvenient to have to use multiple apps to control the various security devices. I have a Google Nest camera that can't be viewed through the ADT app. I have to use the Google app to view it through the ADT web. But I can view the Google doorbell that ADT gave me through the ADT app. It's very inconsistent.

    One of my door sensors is not working, but I already deleted it from my account. So whenever I get a chance, I try to reinstall and do it again. But I got a little problem. I ordered my ADT Self Setup. The guy who ordered my Self Setup told me that my old contract is going to be canceled automatically since I have this new contract. But they never canceled my old contract. They're still charging me for both houses. From the last house and for this house also, they're still charging me the same price.

    I tried to call the Self Setup ADT and tell them the situation. The customer service told us, "You have to do it yourself. Just call ADT and tell them that you already got the Self Setup ADT and cancel the contract. And they're gonna cancel it.” When I called ADT, they told me a different story. They said, "You have to call ADT Self Setup and tell them to give us a call. That's the only way we're gonna cancel the contract." Both were telling me a different story.     I used ADT's technician to do the installation of my system and the technician's work was as seamless as possible, at least, for them. It wouldn’t have been as seamless for me because it was all wired connectivities. So far, everything is in place. But post that installation that the tech did, there are a lot of setups I still need to do.

    Also, I had a text message come to me from ADT stating that I was past due. But when I looked at it, it was ADT's fault. My credit card was active and my transaction was going through my credit card. But ADT was not able to post it. So I started to call the customer care to address that and they did, which went smoothly. But I had another query with respect to the recording that I have in my home which I wanted to sort out with one of their technicians. But I was there in a call for one hour and I was bounced off between multiple representatives. One rep would say that I am an ADT Plus customer, so they'd bounce me off to the next technician. And the next technician stated the same thing. It went on until I selected canceling my subscription as an option. That was when I got to the right rep and spoke to him about the my concern. They took note, created a case ticket, and that was where it stopped.

    I'm still getting a three hours’ worth of recording, not 30 days’ worth of recording as it states in their website that for Google Nest Aware and the Google Nest Aware Plus. There are two types of subscription. The Plus has 60 days and the Google Nest Aware has 30 days. But for the ADT Plus customer like me, the last person who handled my call said that as per Google Nest Aware, it was always three hours. Other than that, the initial sales and the shipping of the ADT product were both good. But why do they have to have two setups on their website? An ADT Plus and my ADT. I have an ADT Plus account but I cannot log into my ADT and that's a confusion.

    The setup was easy but it took me a little bit of time to figure out which mode I wanted to use at night. It took some trial and error and reading more on ADT’s website. One of my frustrations is that the ADT app not connecting to all of my devices. I’ve had my Nest doorbell for quite a while so it's not current enough to connect to ADT’s app. Or maybe the doorbell does, but my backyard camera doesn't. So, I wish I could have eliminated one of the apps that I have to use. But I can't because not all of the cameras connect to ADT.

    I followed the in-app troubleshooting steps and then Googled more about the problem and saw that a bunch of people had the same issue with that generation of devices. So, I decided it wasn't worth calling ADT because it appeared to be something where the solution was buying the new piece of hardware and I didn't wanna do that. But I'm happy with it overall. I was happy with my old system but I transitioned because ADT partnered with Google and Google stopped supporting Brinks and its own system.

    Setting up the system was very challenging. It would not hook up to the internet and we had to split the internet broadband into a lower threshold in order for it to hook up. It took quite a lot of calls and work. I got transferred a lot but finally, the person I talked to at the end was helpful and once it hooked to the system, everything else was fine. I was able to get the rest of it by myself. But people should just have ADT install it. The website was not very user-friendly and it was missing a lot of options that should be available. The app could use some more features but it's usable and better than the website.

    All right, ever since I got my system I've had nothing but problems. Now don't get me wrong, the system has great options and operates wonderfully, when it operates. When I got my system the Nest doorbell camera didn't work. I had to request a new doorbell camera and while I was waiting for that the smoke detector quit. I requested a new smoke detector. Well I called and found out that they never sent the doorbell camera. So I had to wait another week to get the doorbell camera. So so far I've only had my system for less than a month and it has not worked completely. The big problem I have is the terrible terrible terrible customer service. I have called them more than 15 times. Every time I have called with the problem and ask them to do something every representative would use the phrase, "Rest assured we'll take care of this."

    They would tell me they would get back to me and never did. I have not once got a return call from ADT and I have not once received an email checking on whether my system is working or not. I have not received any compensation for the fact that my system still doesn't work. I have had representatives get rude with me. I have had representatives promise me they would take care of this and that and not one representative took care of anything until I called accounts and billing. So I finally got my doorbell camera and then I had to call five times once a day for 5 days to request a return label and every time I talk to a representative they said they got it taken care of and it never happened. So so far since I've had the system I have had to call repeatedly three or four times a week and still wasn't getting any results.

    I finally got the return label for the doorbell camera and now the hub stopped working. Now don't get me wrong. This great system but I've only had it for less than a month and already I've been unable to use my system fully. ADT doesn't seem to care that my system is incomplete and that I can't seem to get any results from customer service. Now I've been told they have to send me a new hub. So now my system does not work at all there is no security system. And I still am paying full price for a system that has not worked since I've got it and no one is solving my problems so now my system is disconnected. The hub doesn't work and I know for a fact because of my past experience I'm going to struggle to return the old hub if I ever receive the new hub. This has been a nightmare. ADT not one of them has taken care of anything unless I followed up and pushed them to do it.

    What's making me angry is that ADT has no interest in compensating me for the fact that their system has not worked since I've had it and that their employees have not helped me and I've had to do their job for them by constantly calling and calling and calling. I'm angry and I'm frustrated and as of right now which is 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday November the 22nd my hub is bad and there's nothing I can do about it. If I were to go back I would not buy the system. The cameras are great. The hub is great. Everything operates just as it should when it's operational. But it's not. ADT's customer service is extremely poor. And the fact that they expect their customers to pay full price monthly for a system that does not work and customers should not have to replace devices constantly. I am angry I am frustrated they are ripping me off and I can't get any results. And now I don't have a security system. No thanks to ADT.

    Do you know what it's like to call a company three or four times a day everyday for a week and be transferred repeatedly and all through those long calls and repeating myself to representatives over and over and over again and my problems have worsened. The system is exactly what I want but it doesn't work. The devices keep failing. I haven't had a full system. I know I'm repeating myself but I'm super angry and I've even tried to call and ask to speak to someone in accounts seeking some kind of compensation for the fact that I don't have a security system. And nope, they have no interest in taking care of their customer. Once you sign the contract it seems like ADT doesn't care.

    I don't recommend ADT at this point simply because it's a nightmare. You're better off getting a ring system from Amazon. I do not recommend Vivint, they are a very terrible company with very terrible devices just it's like the Dollar general of security systems. I loved the ADT system as it's supposed to operate but it doesn't operate and customer service does not care.

    Since we have had ADT Blue (now Self Setup) we have had more replacement pieces than any other security system: 8 for a total since February 2022.

    Sometimes we receive the pieces hand to hand from FedEx, sometimes they are left at our door, with no signature required, sometimes we do not even receive the equipment and have to call ADT about such deliveries or shipments. If this is the security of my family, pets, and/or personal belongings, how am I to trust them when I can't even receive secure equipment from them. Who's tampering with it, where does it go prior to reaching me why it is delayed, yet FedEx and ADT have a different delivery date than what I physically have? With the lackluster mentality on the security of shipping equipment, I feel that is a lack luster concerned for the overall security of my living domain.

    I also feel as if some "anomalies" that happen with the security system, in which you reach out to tech support to search to find the cause of the situation, or why it happened is masked by the excuse of "faulty equipment". We have had Cameras turn off when we leave for a weekend, then suddenly reappear on the system 1 hour before we arrive at home.

    Cameras showing in our WiFi system but not connected in the app, dropping connection with the hub intermittently and with ADT Blue blaming our internet connection. And yet the Hub was connected to the Internet the entire time. Or how about a sensor, without any notification, stop recognizing motion in the apartment with or without the alarm set? And of course the app is about as useful as tits in a bull. I'm am tired of having to eliminate variables as to why these anomalies occur myself and just rely on the tech support that want to blame my Internet connection or simply faulty equipment. Too many issues and not enough concern for the safety of my family and domain.

    I ordered the service, I wasn’t able to set it up. I asked for some form of assistance and was told they didn’t do that it was self service. When I tried to cancel they told me I would need to pay my contract out. Well I paid my contract out and periodically called asking to cancel because I was paying for a service I never used. I paid 2 1/2 years. They called me 1 month for a payment and I went through my usual spill of I have never used the service and wanted to cancel when the Rep finally said your contract is over you are on a month to month now.

    So I asked when did my contract end and she said 3 months ago. I asked to speak to a manger (talked to 2 different ones) and was told they can not refund me for the time outside of my contract because I didn’t call specifically to cancel after my contract. Then went to tell me all the things I should have done to avoid this, basically how it was my fault. I talked to them and each time I expressed my desire to close my account. They have horrible customer service, not care about the customers but about taking advantage of people. I wouldn’t suggest ADT Blue to anyone! Con artist!!!

    I had to get help to set up the Blue By ADT system. I thought it was going to be easy. Since I got the system, it does not record all the time is I wanted. It records once in a blue moon and that is not what I need because there is someone periodically coming on the property and I can never see the person because the cameras are not picking them up or even detecting when someone is on the property. I just know after because I see the damage outside. I have made at least 40 calls to get this equipment returned and my account cancelled but each time I am transferred to many representatives then they hang up the call. I am very disappointed and frustrated at this time. I just want them to take back their equipment and I move on to another company. Someone help please.

    This is the worst company ever to exist. I wish it were possible to give it zero stars. None of my cameras work properly, they go offline all the time, the staff has NO idea what they are doing and they each tell you different things. I have spent hours of my time on the phone that I will never get back trying to "fix" the issues. My final straw was when my neighbor's house got broken into and my doorbell camera did not record the man who walked right past my door. The cops had no leads and I couldn't help them by showing them a video/picture of the man who did it because my "security camera" didn't do what it is supposed to do.

    I do not feel safe at all. I have had issues about 2 months into getting this security system. Funny their return policy is 30 days. I called with my issues to get a refund and the manager told me he "refuses" to give me a refund. I am disgusted with this company and they should feel terrible for taking money while offering fake and dishonest service.

    ADT Self Setup's reps were nice and patient. They broke it down. I expected something in a rush. But the rep explained it comfortably and made sure it worked. She took her time and told me exactly how everything goes. I felt comfortable. But I’d rather have hot wire than what is going on now. I thought the set up was simple in the beginning, but there was a specific person that guided me. After the first time I set it up, I did everything myself, which is good. And it is working.

    I have issues with the equipment itself. One of my motion sensors goes off. Where I have the alarm system is an apartment, but nobody's there yet. I'm moving there but not yet, but I have valuable things in there, so I wanted to put an alarm. So, there's no movement in that specific place where the system was. It went off three times. And I got a call from central. But the camera went off. I checked the camera now. So, I called them up. And they told me what to do with it. It hasn't gone off since then.

    My wife and I both have iPhones and the system is hooked up to it. Everything is good. I get a thousand notifications every time something moves though. So, I'm gonna turn them off. But I'm wondering if I can put it on a buzz or a different type of notification. I like the system. The pictures are very clear. They’re good cameras but I couldn't get them to come on all at the same time. So, I was having a little problem with that, even though I looked at the tutorial. It still created a bit of a confusion. I needed a technician and ADT Self Setup wouldn't send one out here. Maybe they don't have enough people to go around. But they should send a technician to install these cameras. I've just gotten out of the hospital and I'm 70 years old. It was a bit of a job for me. ADT Self Setup just kept telling me to watch the tutorial. So, I just didn't pursue it any further.

    The setup was super hard, except for my window monitors. When I was setting up the cameras with the internet, it kept asking me if I have this other device or do I want to set it up to WiFi but it wouldn't connect to the WiFi. I got frustrated and I didn't set the cameras up till several weeks later. They didn't tell me anything about how to work any of this. I don't know how I can save footage. The cameras only save footage when somebody comes past but I want the footage to be started from the time I put that battery in. And they didn't tell me that I gotta have an external memory card. I'm a little disappointed.

    Also, I couldn't disconnect the cameras to put up the platform that they stand on. I almost had to break it apart. I paid all this money and for what? I still don't even have my back camera put up outside. The product that they gave me is falling apart and I don't appreciate it. Make sure you know what you're getting yourself into before you get ADT Self Setup.

    It was difficult to get set up. I even had a family member who is very much into technology, and it was a challenge for him. It took him half a day to get it all done. Then half a day to get it downloaded onto my phone. It was kind of ridiculous. But we got it done. Once I got used to the system, it's been fine. It's working just like I thought it would. But even now, when it tells me there's someone at the front door and I open up my app, it goes first to the setup part of it, and I have to back up to go to where I can see the pictures. It's an unnecessary step. That's all already been done.

    When I reached out to customer service, they followed up with a number that I could call. But I didn't need a number to call. I needed somebody there to get it done. But overall, I'm happy with this particular product. I’ve had ADT security for years and years, and it has always been fine, especially now that I’m by myself, I have it on all the time. I really love it.

    When I first signed up, I didn't receive all the cameras. So, I had to call back and ADT Self Setup said that the amount that was sent was what was put on my order. But that was not what I was told I would receive. That part was already a red flag. They had to turn around, resend the cameras. Also, ADT Self Setup was no self-setup. I had to pay somebody to hook it up again. I was with a representative on the phone three hours straight trying to get the hub to connect to the Wi-Fi. Come to find out, it was a discontinued hub. ADT sent me one that was defective, which I need to send back. I got another one sent. I got the new one, the rep helped me set it up. And the doorbell thing wasn't easy. So, I hired a guy to come hook everything up. I paid $120 for him to come and it took him nine hours. It's not even monitoring because we're fed up with even dealing with it.

    When I call, the wait time is forever, and they would say they would call back. I had one person call me back, and as soon as I answered, the phone hung up. I told somebody else and she said, "I'll get you switched over to someone." But that never happened, so I just gave up. And when I tried to return the hub, I never got the return label, so I still have the old hub that I need to return. If I wasn't in a contract, I would have sent it back.

    My experience with Blue by ADT has been horrible. When you try to get somebody on the phone, you never get anybody. One camera is showing, but the other camera is not, so I've been trying to get help with trying to set up that other camera. But I always have trouble getting in contact with someone. I've been trying to set it up through the app, but it flashes quickly then it flashes off really fast. You can't set it up using the app. When signing up, the customer service at that point was good, but ever since then it has not been.

    ADT Blue is worthless. (ADT is excellent.) ADT Blue have Cheap equipments. Cameras half the time do not work. Smoke detectors go off for no reason. Alarm goes off for no reason. Police is not impressed. No installer. Bad Customer service. On the phone forever. Then you get hung up on with no return phone call. If you do get someone on the phone they troubleshoot the issue till the cows come home and ADT blue is still not working correctly. Don’t mistake ADT Blue with ADT. We are switching to ADT. Their service and safety standards are very impressive. Do not get ADT Blue. We have a ADT installer coming out to our home now. The Company has updated us about safety safety and more safety and so much more. ADT Blue never has.

    I like the ADT system. The camera shows up very well. It's also very prompt for the motion. The installation also wasn't hard, except for the camera on the front. That was because it was brick up under where you drill it at. We couldn't drill it at first because we had to have a bit for cement. Once that happened, it was easy. We had to contact them because it wasn't live yet after seven days and they did it in 24 hours after we called them.

    Horrible customer service, the supervisor on duty at the time was very rude and disrespectful, very opinionated and mouthy. Upset that I had decided to return the brand new system because of a bad description of what I expected and what I received being two totally different things.     I was very willing to come and have someone install the system but it would be too expensive. The monthly fee to do the installation option was $30 more than the monthly fee for the self-install and I couldn't afford that so I self-installed. The rep was amazing. She single-handedly walked me through the entire process. It took longer than she thought it would take for me to get it done but she was phenomenal through it. I can't even imagine what my experience would have been like without her. Because of her, I will recommend Blue by ADT to other people.

    I ordered the system in January, and they said it was self-set-up and easy. Well, I have no time to install as I am a single parent and I travel for work. The equipment is still in the box. I called multiple times to ADT to ask for a tech to install or cancel the order. I was hung up on several times after being transferred a million times! I finally reached someone today that said I needed to call "Blue" not ADT. Ok I thought ADT was ADT....apparently not. I was transferred and then hung up on yet again.

    I called a different number, was able to get through and the lady told me since it's been 30 days, and no one made a note to my account (that I really don't have because it was never setup) that I would be charged $1400. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and she said there wasn't one I would have to email support and they still can't waive the fee. All in all this was the worst experience EVER!!! I wanted to protect my home and they couldn't even send out a technician or refund my money and now they want to charge me $1400. WORST COMPANY EVER! SAVE YOUR TIME & MONEY DON'T PURCHASE ADT, BLUE BY ADT, OR ANYTHING TO DO WITH ADT!!!!

    My system takes itself off of alarm and my sensors don’t work properly. None of my door sensors work. I wasn’t expecting this from ADT at all. I chose ADT over Brinks. Now I’m second guessing the whole thing. I’ve called numerous times and also I can’t put up my cameras because the bottom which is the base won’t come apart so I can put my cameras up.
