    I've had prior experience with ADT, and I prefer the old system better. The new self-setup system is a bit of a hassle for me.

    The main problem is with the equipment setup; if you don't have the right doorbell setup, you have to place it elsewhere, which isn't convenient for me. The frequent need to charge the system is also bothersome. The old system was wired and I never had to worry about charging it, especially when traveling.     I have had ADT for a while, and they introduced a new self-setup system that I'm not too pleased with. The main issue has been connecting to Wi-Fi and staying connected. The installers visited several times but never managed to get the equipment, like the doorbell camera, to connect to Wi-Fi. Ultimately, they took it away and only left the regular Google system, which also has issues with the app requiring frequent restarts. Sometimes, I can't arm or disarm the system remotely when I'm not home, which is frustrating.

    Customer service has been lacking, as they've been unable to provide assistance or solutions to my issues. It feels like I was forced into something I'm unhappy with. Additionally, there have been discrepancies with billing, and I'm not even sure how much I'm currently paying as communication has been poor.

    I first heard about ADT from the promotional advertisements I received in the mail, as they've been around for ages. My interactions with their sales reps over the phone have been great. However, I am slightly disappointed with the doorbell camera. I expected it to have a wider range, and I can't see as much as I thought I would be able to. It only captures a part of my porch. A co-worker showed me her app, and she has a much wider view, which makes me wonder if there are different doorbell models.     I recently started using ADT Self Setup, and while I wasn't initially aware it was self-setup, I found it to be incredibly convenient compared to waiting for a service person to arrive. The setup process was straightforward, taking about 15 minutes, including positioning the devices.     I first heard about ADT from seeing their signs and hearing about them from friends. My experience with their sales representative, Travis, was positive. I've only been with ADT for a month or two. While most of my setup was handled by someone else, I did manage to install an additional indoor siren by myself without any issues.

    I purchased the Blue by ADT system and had a frustrating experience with their service. While interactions with their sales representatives were satisfactory, the technical support was disappointing. We faced persistent issues for months with the Nest Aware, which was supposed to be part of our monitoring program. Our account never recognized that we had purchased it, treating it as a trial. This resulted in frequent calls to customer service, with each call becoming a repetitive ordeal of screen sharing and troubleshooting, only to start from scratch each time with someone new.

    Eventually, we chose to cancel the monitoring plan we were on and retained only the basic service for around $18. We still have the keypads and sensors, but no monitoring from ADT.     Somebody drove by my house and shot my dogs in my front yard, so I had to get a security system that I could put in within a matter of hours. The sales representative at ADT pitched me a sale on some cameras and stuff and told me they'd be there within a day or two. It was quick service. The product is a self-install. I did ask to get a tech out to set it up. I'm in a no-work area though. So, even if I wanted a tech out there to help me, I couldn't get one. If they were able to get a tech out to where I live, I'd probably give them 5 stars, but they couldn't. That's a sore subject for me. Almost every security place I called was like, “Oh, yeah. We can't get anybody out there for three to six months because of where you live." They're acting like I'm asking them to come and install a security system on a hut in the middle of the Sahara Desert.

    I'm probably gonna cancel my ADT service. All I have are cameras. I don't have alarm systems and that's what ADT is all about. The alarm systems contact the police if the alarm goes off. All I have are cameras, so I'm paying for the ADT service, and I'm also paying for the Google Nest service because they sent me Google Nest cameras. So why have ADT if I'm already paying for the service through Google Nest? I feel like I got duped a little bit.     When I purchased the equipment, the reps were straightforward in explaining to me before I even got it in the mail exactly what to do once I got it.     I was searching for a security system and came across ADT on Facebook. They informed me that the camera should last for a 30-day charge cycle, dependent on traffic, but I find myself needing to charge it daily. The most critical equipment for me are the cameras and the doorbell, yet I couldn't get any technical help for the setup. I called these people about several times already and told them I wasn't happy with the service at all.

    Contacting customer service was a hassle; despite being connected to someone, my situation didn't improve. I eventually stopped using the system because it didn't seem to function correctly. The setup may be part of the issue, but I couldn't get a technician to explain the system's functionality properly. I couldn't even get the camera to come on. I've never installed an alarm system myself and I called ADT to figure out how to do it and they were not telling me what I needed to do and what I needed to go through to be able to get the doorbell camera to work. A friend of mine had to do that one for me. Without my friends, I wouldn't even have managed to set the system up. I'm still paying ADT to promote their company despite not feeling any safer or more secure than before. Overall, I'm quite unhappy with ADT's service.

    I decided to give ADT Self Setup another try. I previously sent it back because I wasn't a fan of the do-it-yourself aspect. However, I felt the need to have some form of surveillance due to theft issues in my area.

    The setup process this time was somewhat okay. Initially, I faced some complications since my account was tangled with an old one, preventing me from creating a new account through ADT. Fortunately, contacting ADT for assistance wasn't difficult. A representative, who I unfortunately can't recall by name, guided me through the necessary steps and it didn't take the process long at all. She also answered all my questions and concerns.

    Currently, the system is working alright, although the door sensors can be problematic. They've been triggering the alarm by falsely indicating that my door is open, even when it's not, leading to unnecessary alerts. My alarm goes off when I'm gone, and one time, it was going off for an hour. This is something I hope gets resolved soon.

    Despite these issues, if asked, I would recommend ADT Self Setup over other companies. My favorite part of the system is definitely the doorbell camera.

Initially, I was excited, as the salesperson even promised a $100 gift card, which never arrived. When I called customer service, they had no record of this promise. This was the start of multiple disappointing experiences.

    After moving, a representative contacted me about a past due balance and offered to match a $30 payment, taking $30 from me but never providing the match. More frustration came when I lost the wire to my hub during the move. Despite being told I was under warranty, I was transferred multiple times without resolution.     I initially found out about ADT's self-setup service through their promotional materials and decided to give it a try, hoping for a reliable security setup. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst decision. My experience was frustrating from the start, as within just two days, three out of four cameras stopped working. Despite numerous attempts to contact customer service and even having technicians visit my home, the problems persisted without resolution.

    The customer service experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. I've called multiple times, spoken with managers, and yet there has been a complete lack of follow-up or care. It's as if ADT is only interested in collecting the monthly fees without providing the necessary support to ensure their product is functioning as promised.

    Despite having a technician acknowledge that the cameras were faulty, ADT did not make the effort to replace or fix them. Customer service has been unresponsive, often transferring me from one representative to another, much like a game of hot potato, with no one taking responsibility for addressing the issue. The whole experience has left me feeling exasperated and disappointed.

    Currently, only two cameras are working, and I've grown tired of spending hours on the phone trying to get the service I paid for. At this point, I regret choosing ADT's service altogether and warn others to be cautious.

    I initially heard about ADT Self Set-up when I sold my house, which had a professionally installed ADT system. Trying to exit the contract with two years left, a representative offered me a deal to switch to a self-service contract for a $200 fee to nullify the existing contract. Unfortunately, this turned out to be false. They sent my account to collections for the remaining balance, forcing me to pay an additional $700 to protect my credit, which is in good standing. Moreover, despite moving out, they continued charging me for the old plan at $45 a month. Numerous calls were made to stop these charges, and by May 2024, after threatening to report the charges as fraudulent, they finally ceased.

    Regrettably, I have not received any compensation for these issues. As a result of these experiences, I feel very dissatisfied with the overall service. The customer service has been frustrating; I've been passed between departments countless times without resolution. Although the equipment was eventually sent as promised, the process was chaotic. Despite these challenges, I would rate the security features a 5 since I received everything requested, though it's not yet installed due to our move. The sales and marketing process, along with the pricing and customer service, I'd rate as a 1.

    I have been a long-time customer of ADT, and my service with them has always been good. Recently, after moving to a new house, I decided to continue using their services. Although the self-setup option was available, I opted for a technician to handle it, and the quality of service that I had was excellent.     I had some problems during the installation but it was fixed. The young lady did real good at helping me. In the beginning, my daughter was the one who sent the guy over and he signed me up. But my daughter used her email for my account and the guy said that it needed to be changed in the system because my bill would have been going on to my daughter's account. It was a lot of problems because I got in under the special and as soon as that guy came that day, he activated everything and then they charged me. The special was you get the equipment free at $40 a month and I didn't have to pay it until the following month.

    They messed me up. I was upset because they were gonna overdraft my account. For $40, I got to pay $20. So, I was really angry. But they made it right. They didn't put it up in my bank account though, they put it in as a credit to my ADT account. That wasn't what I wanted because I wanted my money back. But the young lady was very honest with me. Overall, I'm happy with ADT because she made it right. All I have to pay now is 19.99 forever, not $40.

    I'm happy with ADT Self Setup. There were all the people that could assist, and they did great. I understand the rep might be busy and working with somebody else. I've been trying to call him, but I couldn't get in touch with him again. He didn't call me back. But he was great. The service is for us because my family needs it. We used to plug things in and flick the switch off and that was it. Today, we have to download an app, go here, go there, and trying to go with it, trying to learn from that. It has been an experience. We probably will never get it done. But thanks to the guy that came out to help, he made it easy. He was very patient. He was a nice guy.     ADT is a good company. They were the first thing that came to my mind whenever security came into mind. It was easy to set up the system. The only problem was one of my cameras kept buffering. I haven't reset it. If I pulled it up in the Google Home app, it would show that the camera is live and everything is okay. But when I pulled up in the ADT app, it would say it's buffering. I got four cameras and it shows three out of four. Also, the battery would die quickly. ADT Self Setup said that the batteries need to be charged every three months. But one is already dead. It stayed on the charger for 48 hours before I put them on the outside of the house. I did not expect to see 20% battery usage. The camera has a low battery. Maybe the camera is bad.

    If I have to charge the cameras every two or three weeks, I'm ready to get rid of it. My house is 25 feet off the ground. I got a big house. I gotta have a ladder to crawl up to reach everything. I don't wanna plug the cameras up for 10 hours and put them back out there once every two weeks. Other than that, I'm satisfied with the system. It works great.

    The last technician was the best. But we've had a lot of problems. The initial salesperson was wonderful just explaining the options. But for the same issue, we've called five times and had a tech out three times. Some of my family have SimpliSafe. My parents have ADT. I'm an in-between now. It's a bit harder to hardwire the outdoor camera, but there is that capability. The most recent ADT Self Setup tech ran it for us and hooked it up. Our camera doesn't have to be charged and that's what we tried to explain to ADT. I explained that to the tech and the customer service over the phone. They said, "Just go up there and press the button or just go up there and then you're gonna have to just plug it in." I said, "I'm six months pregnant. That, I can't do. That's why I paid you 5,000."

    My grandparents had ADT. When we first moved down to South Carolina from New York, they had a rep come out to their home and the rep was very nice. The service that they had really protected the home. So, I looked into it and looked up some more information. I called and got somebody through the call center. They weren't able to do a promotion for me, so I was going to leave it alone. Because where I live, I can't do a wired doorbell and other things. Then I was able to get a good deal through the local rep. They also offered the wireless doorbell. So, I decided to go with ADT. The tech came out and he was very nice.

    He called me before the timeframe to see if I was home and I told him I was heading home from work. Where I work is a little bit distance from my house, so he was able to go and do his lunch. Then he arrived to my home. He went through what I had purchased with the local rep and he installed the sensors. He showed me the wireless doorbell, how I could take it off, and when I need to charge it. He also showed me how to go through my app to check the battery.

    Then I learned that if somebody pressed the doorbell, I wouldn't be able to hear it. So, he told me I needed to get either the Google Nest or the speaker. I ended up purchasing the Google Nest through them and now I'm able to hear. It rings when somebody presses it and it'll ring inside then let me know if somebody is at the front door doorbell. Also, I called back because I thought that being a new customer I was eligible to get a reward card. But the guy was confused and I never called back again.

    So far, I haven't had any problems with the system and I feel very well protected. I love having that doorbell, as well as those sensors, especially since I've been robbed twice of my packages where I lived in other homes and I didn't have a camera doorbell. But with my doorbell now, I'm able to speak to the delivery people, I'm able to see that the packages are there, and I'll be able to see whoever's coming in and out of my home.

    I called somebody to purchase the system and they were super helpful. The customer service there was great. On the other hand, I didn't have to call anybody for the self-setup. It was super easy and I'd tell people, "Don't pay for installation because it's really easy to do on your own." Still, I have a bit of a complaint with regard to being able to purchase additional accessories on the website. I called back to order accessories and it was a real pain. ADT is also a monthly fee that I would like to avoid, but I've already had three incidents where the door was left open from contractors and the system helped me from keeping the door open all night to animals and the public.

    The issue with the self setup that I personally had was with the app. For whatever reason, it was quite frustrating when it wouldn't allow me to proceed past a certain stage in the app. The key code wasn't accessible until I finished setting up through the app. It was a process that was out of order and I ended up getting passed around customer support for a few hours before eventually they determined I had to wait 24 hours to attempt it again.

    One other thing is my system has been fully set up for so long, but I don't think the monitoring has even begun yet. I was under the impression that it would happen automatically after I finished setting up the system one week after, but apparently, there's some sort of week-long adapting phase that I'm aware that ADT requests before they start monitoring. I just checked my app yesterday and I saw that it was still not being monitored.

    I have been a customer of ADT since 2012. I'm in a new area that I've only been in about 30 days and I am comfortable knowing that I have ADT. I got a new system. It's hooked up to the WiFi and it's one of the things that are not connected to the wall. I enjoy the nighttime setting. If anybody opens the door, whether from the inside or the outside, it blares on a loud notification. It's a new option and I did not have that. My recent technician was extremely polite and professional. He even called back a couple of days later to ensure that everything was going okay, and I've never had a technician do that. I recommended him to my nephew. He plays for the NFL team in this area, and I have given the technician's card to two of the players on the team.

    I switched from a home to an apartment. So, I switched plans and the self setup was what ADT told me to go with. The rep gave me a lot of good information about how it was the best alternative instead of just cancelling my current plan, which would have cost me a lot of money. We ran into a slight problem and I hope it’s resolved. I'm still waiting to get 100% confirmation. My home security was supposed to be cancelled in mid-November, but it wasn't cancelled until the beginning of December. I also got an out-of-the-blue charge of $600. And no one could tell me what it was for. Supposedly, ADT took care of it but I’m still waiting to see if it gets taken off. Other than those two things, the system itself has been fine.

    I was with the ADT self setup because I moved from a house to an apartment and the guy offered the self setup where I could set it up myself, and that seemed like a better deal. If I were to ever move, I don't have to constantly be having a new system when I could just take the self setup system with me and put it into the new location. The actual setup was excellent and easy. The rep that walked me through was self-explanatory. The total setup process took about 20 minutes. The system's performance is excellent. The only thing is it doesn't say, "Front door open, a window open." It just beeps, which is fine. So, therefore, no one would even know that it really is a system.

    One time, my motion sensor fell down and it sent out a burglar alarm. The police did arrive very quickly. ADT is a great service, and I would highly recommend it to people because of the way that the system is and when you talk to customer service, they explain everything that they need to explain to you. They take their time and it's not like they're rushing you off the phone. And it doesn't matter if it takes hours, they're still sitting there waiting patiently. When I first received the system, they were doing the walkthrough with me because I was lost at first,. They walked me through it. They told me that I had to download the app first for the system because I didn't see the keypad numbers to dial on the little panel. Once I activated the system, then the numbers automatically came up on the system, and I was able to dial them in.

    The rep I talked to was professional but the person who sold the alarm didn’t include everything, which caused me to have to make more calls to ADT than I wanted to. I wasn't told some information that should have been told to me when I placed the order so I would have been aware. When ADT is selling the item as a DYI, it’s best to let the person know. Door frames are different in size and width, as well as inches from the actual door. When the alarm was sold to me, the rep should have recommended that extenders would be needed for the doors. I wasn't able to use the system when I installed the sensors and magnets. I ordered 11 door and window sensors and one motion sensor. So, I had to use the magnets from the other packs of sensors to bring the magnets out far enough for the sensor and the magnet to align so that the system would work.

    I was told that I needed to purchase two more sensors which I had already had and they were trying to charge me 60-something dollars for that. I said I wasn’t gonna pay that. That doesn't make any sense. Still, my account was charged for ADT. Those extenders are supposed to be free. The email stated they are. So, I called and asked what ADT charged me for. The rep said that on November 25th, I activated the base by plugging it in and connecting my system. This happened right before Thanksgiving and my house was not even secure before I left because I was waiting on extenders. I said the two main places that need to be monitored, the doors, are not monitored. The system is still in practice mode.

    I was on the phone with the guy from account management for so long and he almost sounded like he was snoring. He would come and then ask if there was anything else I needed. I told him he was supposed to give me a confirmation number and that I thought he was typing or doing something else and I was just waiting. He told me to hold on again. I was listening and it was quiet for a minute. I forgot I was on the phone and started talking to relatives who were at the house. And I said hello and he asked if there was anything I needed. I said I was not getting off the phone until he gave me a confirmation and sent an email. I never got the email. I got a confirmation from him, but I don't know what he was doing two times before telling me to hold on so he could give me a confirmation number.

    The guy gave me a month’s credit but I looked last night on the app and I saw that I'm still being billed for December 25th. I should have a credit for December. He told me they can see it on their end and there is a credit there. But I can't see it on mine. I asked if it would be applied to the account. When I try to make a payment, it won’t go through. If it does, I’d have to call back and do this all over again. I told him that I don’t know what’s going on with ADT but it’s starting to seem unprofessional. He said he wanted to make things right.

    I dealt with ADT back in 2017 and I still have my old system. It was nothing like this. It was very professional. I said I would hate for the guy I was dealing with to be sending the alarm to wherever it needed to go if there was a break-in. He said he didn’t know what was going on. So, he took what I was telling him yesterday and said that he would document it and make sure to pass it along. But I got the confirmation number that he gave me from last night. And that is supposed to be a confirmation for yesterday's call and him telling me that the credit is there but I just can't see it. I said I’ll revisit it. I'm frustrated having to repeat the story. I hope they fix it because I'm on the verge of unhooking everything and sending it back and finding someone else.

    I let ADT know the reason I have a DYI is because I'm in a rental property and I have to get permission to drill holes. When the alarm was sold to me, Google Nest came free with the package. I thought it was a magnet and it gives you that capability. But it needs to still be plugged into an outlet. I have a 4-foot cord and I was thinking how I was going to do that. I have not even placed it outside or on any of the outside doors. It's pointless and I don't wanna call ADT back because I've been working. A magnet with ice and snow in Michigan is either going to be on the ground or somebody is going to remove it from the house if it's not drilled into the door frame. So, I need to call and see what my options are for that device. But right now, I have not used it. I just put it back in the box.

    The price is a little steep. I should have received some sort of discount, especially since I had the service for three years before. I don’t remember exactly what I was paying back then, as it was three and a half years ago, but it was cheaper. Now, with the system upgrade, the system remains on even when the power goes out. The previous system left the house unarmed during outages. So, $44.99 is a fair price, but I used to pay around $36.

    The ADT guy we had was very personable and family-oriented. He was able to give us the best advice when it came to what we needed as far as home security concerns. He took his time for the installation and called his team for assistance when needed. He got the system set up and everything was great. He came out to do the install for us because I needed some cameras hardwired. It was easy and accessible to bring in a new one, so everything really worked out. He also walked us through downloading the app on our phone, both of the ADT and the Google Home app, so that we're able to monitor our cameras, look at the battery status, and get our names registered.

    I've done research on other products and brands of home security services, and they can be pretty pricey. ADT has a reasonably priced security system and equipment. Someone came out last week and everything seemed okay. But the whole system went down again. We were able to get it up over the phone when I called the tech. But in the last couple of days, the inside doors are not working. So, I don't know what's going on now.

    I got someone to come out and set up my ADT system. The tech did a good job. But the salesperson didn't check that my doorbell worked, so it was surprising that the tech had to install a battery doorbell. Also, their app works fine, but there's no type of training for the customer. They expect you to know how to use the system and they don't leave a little checklist or the top things you need to know to be able to get the system to function. They act as if the customer works for ADT.

    Aside from that, there have been issues since the install. I didn't know how the system was supposed to work but when someone rang the doorbell, I couldn't hear anything. So I called ADT and I learned that I was supposed to have a Google Nest thing. That was surprising and that should have been shared with me upfront. So I had to purchase that separately with an additional cost, and the customer service for that wasn't that great.

    The first time that ADT came out, the guy who did the installation was nice, but the system sucked. When they brought the second system and installed it, it was pretty nice. I like it so far. Command 7 has all of the features. It tells you which the door is open and it even tells you the weather. It also sends a notification to your phone. That's all the features that one would want. The features are real good. Everything is good. I wish I got a second monitor for the downstairs because if I come in, I have to rush upstairs to deactivate the system.

    I have a friend who works with ADT, which was how I heard about it. My interactions with the salesperson were good but I had some issues with setting up the system. The initial setup would not connect to ADT servers, and the departments designed to help with Self Setup are not open on the weekend, so that might be something ADT wanna look into. I had to wait until the following work day, which is a Monday, before it got resolved. It took two phone calls to get the issue fixed. One in the morning to set up a time frame for the tech to call and they did call within the set time frame, and the issue was fixed fairly quickly.

    I learned about ADT 20 years ago when we first bought our house and I had it installed then. I eventually did away with it and recently got it back. I thought I might need it back just in case because things are getting so much meaner and meaner every day. I was quoted for a lesser setup price, but when they came out to do it, my price changed more than what I was quoted. That threw me for a loop because, at first, the way it was supposed to have been, the door cam, my app and the stuff they brought inside were free. All I was supposed to pay was the service part of it, but when I paid my bill this last time, they pulled out about 60 dollars out of my account and it was supposed to have been 48.

    The technician who installed the equipment was in a rush and didn't test everything before he left. A couple of days later, we had to call and have him come back out because one of the sensors at the front door wasn't working. The eye sensor on the wall wasn't picking up anything because they didn't have it properly installed like it was supposed to be. Another tech came out and did that over. So far, the system is okay. The door cam lets me know when someone's coming up at the door or if there's a package that's arrived. I can see it. I like it because I put it on my phone and I can leave home and still be able to watch. All in all, I would recommend ADT, but I would also tell people to watch the price and not believe what they're quoted because it changes when they get to their place.

    We had an ADT system and when we got this other house in Wisconsin, I knew I needed something. The ADT rep offered me the self setup option and everything was fine. This was up in the north and it's a smaller seasonal area, so maybe ADT didn't have the same services there that they have in our regular town. The self setup was a little different than what I expected, but it's gonna work okay. I needed help getting the equipment set up and once I got the rep, they were very helpful. I've got to add a couple of more devices now and I have them there, but I haven't had the time to do the setup.

    I originally had a Nest system set up when I bought the house last October. Nest merged with ADT in April of this year, and they sent me a self setup system to take the place of the Nest security system. The ADT reps have been professional, but the process has really been horrendous to try to set up, so much that I have been talking to an ADT representative to just have them come and put an actual system in my home for monitoring.

    The directions to set this up were not straightforward. You have to create an entire new email address in order to link the products to it, and that was not stated anywhere. I've had to make over 15 phone calls to ADT's support center to try to get help with this. And even now that everything is set up, the hub will not stay connected to the internet. So, the amount of wasted time and effort, headache, and phone calls has been very ridiculous. I have no security right now.

A gentleman came to the house and set everything up for us. So, once everything was set up, then he did go over everything with us, showed us how to use everything, showed us how to set everything up on our phone. We have the screen on the wall, and then he showed us how to use that.

    I like the camera recordings. Whenever they see movement, it records. So, that way, if there ever was an incident, we have that. That's really nice. We used it inside of our home because our older boys stay at home sometimes. So, that was nice to be able to keep an eye on them when they were doing that. The window sensors are nice.     We contacted ADT and they let us know that they had a self-startup system, which was perfect within the time frame that we needed it for. The sales team was nice, kind, and helpful when I first spoke with them. I did eventually have some issues in the long run. But when I first spoke with them, they were great. They explained everything to me and it was a perfect experience. They had really good customer service.

    My service had not been working for two months, and I got the runaround between different customer service agents saying that it was active and then they said it wasn't. Somebody ended up coming out to my home, letting me know that my service had not been active from October to the end of November. I called them to try to see because it was a runaround. I called them multiple times. We set up the system. It said everything was working properly, said that we set it up properly. And then when we logged into the app, it constantly said at the top, “Not monitored”. So, for my spouse, that triggered some alarms. It was like, “Okay. Well, we set everything up properly. We're able to disarm and arm the system, but we're not being monitored.”

    So, that prompted us to call ADT. We called them back and let them know, “Hey, our system says, 'Not monitored'. And is this something that we should be worried about? Is it just a glitch in the app or what? We just wanna make sure that we are being monitored.” They were like, “Yes. You are being monitored. Your account is active. Everything is fine.” So, we did not worry about it from probably October.

    Then a lady from ADT showed up to our home and was like, “Hey, in the system it’s showing that you guys have a system that is set up and you guys are not being monitored and it's not active.” So, that raised the question again. We're like, “Okay. Well, somebody told us that it was active. What's going on?” She was like, “I can have a professional come out and set up the system.” I let her look around my house. And I told her, “We have a self-startup system.” She was like, “Basically, the professional would come out. And they would install the same system.” So, she checked around the house to make sure that we installed it correctly. So, she looked at it. And she said, “Yes. It was installed perfectly fine.” We both agree there was no point of having a technician come out and charge me extra when I set it up properly.

    I set up everything myself and it was okay. The only thing I don't like is that ADT didn't send me a doorbell sensor. I'm gonna go buy my own doorbell sensor and hear the doorbell go off inside my home. If someone rings the doorbell, you're not gonna hear it inside. That doesn't make sense. I filed a complaint about it. It don't make sense that if you don't have a sensor or something inside your home to hear the doorbell. I guess on the cheaper version because it's free. But if I would've paid for it, I would've got it or got a screen that makes a noise. They just gave me a little dome. It's free, but it's the fact that if someone rings the doorbell, I can't hear them. Only way I can see them is if my thing goes off.

    The self setup was difficult. Some of the door monitors wouldn't stick. It was difficult for them to get adjusted to once we stuck them on the door, but it worked itself out. We're still having problems setting up our Nest doorbell. We have a virtual meeting today with someone to set it up because we've reset it several times and we've done little things that it says to do to try to fix it and nothing will work. So, we have a meeting today about setting it up, but that's the only hiccup we have had. We really like the system overall. It works really well. I've always enjoyed ADT even previously.

    ADT had some promotional things going on that I've seen online. So, I jumped at the opportunity. The sales rep was great. He was local, not too far from me. So, if I did need help, he was right there. He explained everything to me perfectly and there was no miscommunication. I had a couple questions after I got my stuff, and he still clarified it for me so I was okay. I like the customer experience. The only thing I don't like is the ADT Plus app. The only way you can do it is auto pay. I have multiple bills. So, when the payment should go through, I expect it to be taken as soon as possible and not like, “Hey, thank you,” and then about time the processing go through, it's like, “Hey, the money is not in the account. Now you owe us.”

    I'm like, “No. You should have took the money when it was there. I already left it there for you. Take the money now ‘cause if you don't take the money now, another bill is gonna take the money. So, by the time you take the money, it's not there.” So, the process is annoying because I'm like, “I want you to take it now.” When I called, the customer service line was like, “Sorry. A lot of people was complaining about that too, but right now at the moment there's nothing we can do about it. That's just how it's set up.”

    It's very difficult to set up the system. It always says the doors are open. I called ADT Self Setup. Someone did a over-the-phone thing to help me. We had a video call so she could see what was going on. So, I showed her. She gave me the option of turning my sensors to get them closer. But that didn't work. Also, they have been trying to charge me separately for my equipment and the regular payment which is fine if they took it all at once, but they took it at two different times. I don't like that. I went back and forth with them about that, but they told me there was nothing they could do.

    The rep that I spoke to was very informative. She actually has ADT herself at home and it worked out. The Self Setup was no more than straightforward. If I can do it, anyone else can. Also, the price reasonable. It was $40 a month for monitoring, and then the setup was about $200. I called at the right time to get a discount. The only thing that I found interesting was that after I had paid the fee for the equipment, I was charged the monthly fee for the services, which I thought would have probably came the following month, not so soon after setup. I just went along with it assuming that this was the procedure. But I would have preferred if that could have been communicated.

    I had ADT in Dallas, Texas seven years ago. Four years ago, I moved back to California. I trusted ADT and got them again. They do good service. When I call and ask a lot of questions, they transfer me to someone professional. But when I ordered all the cameras, they didn't tell me the whether the camera for the line was longer or shorter. When they came over to install, the inside camera was a really short line. It could not reach the spot. I paid extra for it to reach it. Also, when I first ordered online, I asked for detailed information for one hour with the translator. I told them I have another refrigerator and it connects with the Ring doorbell so I can see people from the second floor. I asked, "If you have the Ring doorbell, can I connect to the refrigerator?" They told me yes. But after the technician came to install the service, they told me they could not connect to my refrigerator because they don't have the service for that.

    A week after they installed the system, the Ring doorbell went off for two days. There was no battery. I called again, and they sent me another technician to come over. They took the Ring doorbell off then they charged it by the charger on my wall. They put it in again but after another week or so, it went off again for two days. I called and they told me the first time they came, it was free. But for the second time, they needed to charge me $200. I paid a lot of money to get the service and I pay for it because I need to see from the camera if I'm not at home. But if I go outside, I cannot see anything from the front doorbell.

    My contract was coming due with the company I've been with for seven years and I started searching ADT. But I have been getting emails and advertisements from them. There were several other companies that I looked at and I finally decided that ADT might be the way to go. I told the guy who did the installation that I would like to have a key fob. He said he could get me one the next day and he was gonna finish showing me how to operate the system and add my family as people who could come in. And he was going to bring me an extra sign to put out front and some window stickers. But he never came by. So, I had to call ADT. And when I did, they said I could get those but I gotta pay for them. So, I purchased them. The installer was a very nice guy and he gave me his phone number and I could text him. But he never finished the job while he was here and never got back to me to do what he said he would do, which I didn’t appreciate.

    My son-in-law wanted to talk to the guy who was here because their contract with Vivint was up and they needed to do something different. So I asked my son-in-law if he would like the installer to come by and visit with him and he said yes. The installer said that as soon as was finished here, he would go there because my daughter and son-in-law's house is on the way back to Lubbock where he came from. He said he would be through at about 12:00. But he didn't leave here until almost 1 o'clock and by that time, he had another installation in Lubbock. He asked me to tell my son-in-law that he would try to get with him the next day when he’s back in town. He never got with my son-in-law and this makes me think about why they promise stuff and then, they don't come through. That makes me kind of leery of a company.

    I got the key fob in the mail but I haven't had a chance to set it up yet. I called ADT and the lady was gonna show me how to add me and my family for face recognition. Then she told me that it couldn't be done because I had an older phone. I got my signs out now and I did everything the installer said he was gonna do. I also have window stickers that I have not put up yet that the installer was gonna do. So, I haven't gotten the responses that I would have liked to have gotten. And I don't know how long my contract is with ADT. Nobody has told me those things and I've never signed anything.

    There was no follow-through and maybe some people like it this way but I’m older and I like to be walked through and shown how things operate. The installer showed me a little bit about how to operate the system and it operates a lot like my old system. So, I didn't have to worry about a lot of it. But still, some of it is different. If other people are experiencing this, they're not gonna be happy with ADT, especially setting up if they get treated the same way.

    I set off the alarm the other day. I have 60 seconds to disarm the system after I've armed it and I thought I could just run in quickly and grab something. It didn't take me more than two seconds and I could shut the door. And that disrupted the whole thing because I didn't hit the button. So, ADT didn’t like that. When I came home, I set off the alarm but I disarmed it quickly. I got a non-person phone call but it said if the alarm had gone off longer, ADT would have called the police. That was my fault. I found out quickly I couldn't do that.

    I had been looking into switching over to ADT. I used to have Vivint for a couple of years now. A few weeks back, someone broke into my car that was sitting out in front of my house, and my Vivint doorbell camera didn't catch anything so we decided that that was the time to change. We got ahold of ADT and the ADT representative on the line suggested to do the self setup. They said that there were two options, a self setup and the setup where a professional comes out and sets it up.

    I told them I was fine with the self setup. It has a step-by-step guide that walks you through on how to set it up. You set up the main hub first then it has you go and put up the door and window sensors then set up the camera, the doorbell camera and the door lock that comes with the package. The total process took about 35 minutes. The functionality of the system is good and the reliability of it is also high. It catches anyone that walks in front of the house and it notifies any time the door is open. I also like the all-inclusive smart home setup with the smart lock and the doorbell cameras' all access from one app. ADT is a great company for home security. If others are looking for one, I would recommend them.

    ADT is a common name and when we first set up the system, my husband was traveling. So, we wanted to have peace of mind while I was home by myself. But neither one of us is pleased with ADT. We had to move and six months after that move, ADT decided to take $1500 out of our account unprompted and without any notification. The new system wasn’t activated yet so my husband activated it and then got on the phone with accounts management like he was told to do. He spent half the day on the phone doing all of this and was told that we would get our money back in three to five business days, and that it was something on their end that didn't work out. So, three to five business days later, we didn't get our money back and we still haven't.

    You get on the phone with somebody and half the time, they're foreign and you can't understand them. When you can understand them and you explain the whole situation to them, they say they can't help you and forward you to somebody else, and you have to explain yourself over again. This process usually happens three times until you get to the right person. So, it's very frustrating dealing with them. The system worked okay but the customer service is a joke. And it's a joke that we're $1500 out of pocket and it's the holiday season and we've had to borrow money to cover our rent. It’s been a nightmare and would not recommend ADT to anyone.

    I got tired of the hacking in my prior security equipment. So, I got rid of it all and decided to use ADT because it's got 24/7 recording. The sales rep I had listened to me and he understood everything. He helped me figure out the way to properly make sure my apartment was protected correctly. Installing the system was also pretty easy to do. When the packages come through, make sure that all the little door magnets connect well. That was the only issue that I had. One of them wasn't connecting well, so I had to put some tape on it. I would suggest that ADT should have better connectors from the base to the lid of the door magnets.

    Also, the system has got one video and two homebase, and I was a little confused at first. I wasn't aware that I had to pay Google as well. Also, is that a yearly price that I have to pay for the Google setup or is it a monthly thing?     Other than that, I told people that I advise them to get ADT+. Their price is a little high but their customer service is good. But there had been some issues with my phone with the ADT app on it. So now, I have to control the system manually. I can't do it through the app because it kept on giving me issues with the app. I called ADT up and they said they didn't see anything on their side. I think somebody hacked my phone but that's not ADT's fault.

    I went to the ADT app to order stuff and I saw the self-service was an option. I bought it online and the setup was easy. But I needed to add more stuff to my system and there was no way for me to add to a system that's already there. The only options I have is to create a new order, which includes the base and all the other stuff. And if you do that twice, your future orders will get canceled. So, if ADT could add something to where, I sign in to ADT Pulse then I do something where I add products to an existing order, that would be great.

    Also, they send me to someone that specifically deals with v5 but it just goes downhill from there. It ended up sending me to sales. So, it takes several phone calls in order for me to get ahold of someone who can send me equipment. Despite that, the system is cool and my only complaint is that the base level window sensors are terrible. The two sensors have to be very close together and with the way my door frame is, they just don't work. So, I'm going to send all those back.

    The setup of our ADT system was challenging. We had to call back the next day because we couldn't get the window sensors to work right. The doorbell was an issue, but we eventually figured it out. We had an existing doorbell and we didn't know that ADT's sensor had to be hooked into it. There are no directions, too. You have to go online. So, you're working with your phone and the computer. There's nothing that gives you anything to go by. The performance is okay. I don't understand everything. I don't have everything all set up, but I can set the alarm and unset the alarm. My security is fine. I'm happy with that. I like the ease of having it on my phone so that I can use the app to alarm and dis-alarm. That's easy. As far the ADT reps, they were great.     When I ordered the system, I told the gentleman exactly what I wanted but it was not what I got. Most of the houses up in Michigan have a monitor that tracks the temperature and if the temperature in the house gets below, say, 50 degrees, it'll send you a signal. The first thing I wanted was somebody to come out and get the system up and running. We were setting up the system last week before leaving the house. We were in Michigan for a week and we had to pack our whole house and hire a moving company. But we left Michigan before ADT could replace the system. We weren't happy about setting it up either. So, ADT wasn't on the front burner. It was on the back burner. Getting out of the house within a week was our main objective and having a system would have been nice and we even bought one for $533. I called ADT yesterday and I couldn't get through. So, I just hung up.

    My wife and her brother were calling ADT trying to get through the setup. The system has never been armed but the two cameras are recording. I’m not sure whether the motion detector is working or not. And we have five door alarms and a temperature alarm. But that's useless. We didn't even mess with that because you have to wire it. You have to unhook your thermostat and let ADT's thermostat take over. Nobody's gonna do that themselves. I don't know where ADT gets off that you’re gonna do that yourself. Also, there was no way to get anybody out there. ADT doesn’t service that area in Houghton Lake, Michigan.

    I was sick of Vivint, so I started looking for another company and found ADT online. I signed up and it was my understanding that I was supposed to have a tech come over and put the equipment in. They never told me anything about having to set it up myself. As a matter of fact, they promised me. They even gave me a number to call when I was ready for the tech to come over, but when I called, I found out that it had never been set up for a tech to come over and put it in.     Every interaction I've had with ADT has been pleasant. However, when we had a false alarm, they were gonna get someone from upper management to give me a call back, but they haven't. When the false alarm happened, ADT called really quickly, within a couple seconds. But the representative didn't authenticate the account. She just said that they got an alarm and asked if everything was okay. But I told the representative that could have went really badly. If it wasn't a false alarm and someone was in our home, they would have forced us under duress to say that everything was okay. If the rep would have asked for the verbal pass code, I would have given her our duress code. That would have let them know that I was being made to say that everything was okay, but it was not. That's one issue that needs to be addressed.

    The technician that came out was very professional and courteous. The way we were taught to use the system was if we were home for the night and not going back out, to set it for "Instant”. But he told us to not do that because if we set it at that, any motion inside the house would set it off. That was inaccurate. The purpose in setting an alarm for "Instant" whenever you're home and you're not going back out is so that if anyone comes into your home, your system will instantly blare. You don't wanna give someone that's breaking into your home time enough to locate the owners and make them turn the alarm off. I also asked him, "If someone runs up behind us and forces us to turn the alarm off, shouldn't there be a certain type of code?” He blatantly told us, “No. You could just hit emergency.” How can you hit the emergency button if you're being held at gunpoint?

    Those couple of things that were said to us during installation rubbed me the wrong way. It made me do my own due diligence and research to find out that we can set our alarm to “Instant” whenever we're in for the night. That would be the best thing to do because the motion sensors aren't going off if someone is walking around. They're gonna go off if someone attempts to come into your home. If a burglar has the opportunity to make you turn off your system and you don't have a duress code, how is ADT gonna know that something is going wrong? One tech that I talked to about that told us how to go in and put in the duress code if something like that happened. But it took me having to tell the representative about the interaction for her to tell us that we can set it up that way when that's something that should have been set up on installation.

    We've had a couple issues with the system to where the most serious issue was that they had to end up sending a technician back out to replace the base. It took this guy five hours to complete the job. But he was very professional. He said that the system that we have is one of the newer systems. It got a point where he had to talk to a regional manager over the district manager because they couldn't figure out what was going on with our system as they never had that issue before.

    Finding out that it was the first time they've had this major issue and it’s with our system doesn't sit well with me. It made me ask the last representative, “Would it be best if we call in to see if we can get an older system instead of the newer system?” We also have a camera that continuously goes online, offline. It's closer to our Wi-Fi box than any of the other cameras, yet that's the only camera that's having an issue. If we're being monitored the right way, that's something that ADT should have seen on their end.

    ADT is good, but it's not as much as I expected. I was expecting two or three cameras around the house. I thought the sensor comes with the camera. Instead of just introducing the sensor first to the customer, ADT could let the customer know that the camera is gonna be only the doorbell. They didn't even ask if I needed another camera. The cameras are more important than the sensors.

    If I forget to disarm the system and open the door by mistake, it rings for one minute. It comes on your phone if you wanna call security. But if it was a robbery, who has time to call the police in case of emergency if they don't call? That's my frustration. If somebody breaks in and the alarm starts ringing, they can force you to stop the alarm. In that case, how are we secure? When the alarm rings, ADT needs to call and check their customers.

    When I called to let ADT know that I was moving, the person told me that I would have to take everything with me. I have ADT+, so everything was self setup. When I was ready to set the equipment back up, I called ADT and they were very knowledgeable in helping me get it set back up. As a matter of fact, they had to go into my phone to help me out. They were very helpful. I had to call back a couple of times, but it didn't have anything to do with the representative. I was pleased with all the representatives that helped me.

They could have gone by my camera, and that's when I found out that it didn't record. However, that was on me because I never knew that I had to update the system.     I spoke to one person when I was looking into security systems at first. I was checking my options and the price range since we just moved. The ADT rep tried to figure out the best deal and she was able to lower the cost monthly and then the device for it. However, I wasn't able to do it right then and there because we were focused on other things and we needed to think about it. I called a week later, spoke to a gentleman and he promised that my monthly would be the same that she said, but then I got my monthly and it wasn't what I was told.

    I moved to a new place, and I have a special needs daughter, so I needed to put more security measures in place. I ended up calling ADT again to reestablish what I've had in the past with them, and they told me about this new program which was the Self Setup. I did the doorbell and the Nest. It's a great package besides me doing it on my own. When the rep said Self Setup, I didn't figure that I would have to be doing it all on my own. I still had in my mind that someone would come out and do the hard stuff as far as hanging the sensors.

    Once I got the last guy that helped me online, it was a lot easier than I thought. He was very patient and informative. He worked through the whole thing. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have done it. It came with screws, which made me think that I would have to screw a lot of things in to attach the sensors. But the sticker worked very well. My main concern was putting things on the front and the back doors and I did that. I still have to do it on the windows and the motion sensors, figuring out where to set that up. I definitely would have preferred to just have someone do it for me.

    The front and back door chimes is one security measure that I needed. I have a son that works at night. I have the key lock latches and those help where he doesn't have to turn the alarm on and off every time he goes out the door. When the wires in the chime doorbell broke, I sent it back, and they sent it back very quickly free of charge. I just need to reset that up. I was happy that the process of getting that resolved was easy. Overall, I'm happy with ADT.

    Louisville has remodel houses. A lot of times, it's good. If I ever got some property up there to fix up, I would purchase an alarm system because there's an issue with people breaking in because they board up all the windows and doors to keep people from breaking in. I was supposed to purchase this house and I called ADT Self Setup to set up a basic system for the doors and windows so nobody would break in. I don't live in Louisville. I'm an hour away. When I first talked to a guy, he listed stuff up. I had a lot going on. I had some stuff going on around my home, like break ins. I had to get a security system. I told him. He was patient. He listened to what I said and what was going on. I got the two door sensors and the Nest camera. I wish it came with a couple of window alarms. I probably need eight. But a couple of window alarms wouldn't hurt.

    Setting up the system wasn't that hard on the phone. I'm good at navigating the phone and figuring things out electronically, so I was able to figure it out easily. The mounting was harder than anything. The system does a video recording and it would save a section where I could go to the Cloud and go back to look at it. Every picture like it should be different. When the camera takes a picture, I might be asleep. However, someone has been going back to my camera, resetting it and re-looping the same clip. It's a seven-second clip. It was when someone tried to break into my house.

    Someone got the camera facing against the wall and it would just take a picture of the wall. That is all there is, a picture of a wall all the way down through where it faces the wall. Also, there have been times when it was cut out. They cut out an hour and a half. It's missing. I had electric outage and the system went off, and my alarm ended up going off. I thought someone broke into my house and I couldn't access my phone. Luckily, I wasn't five miles down the road and I was at my buddy's house getting his car loaded up and we drove back here quickly.

    I called to transfer my service at the previous place where I stayed to have it transferred because as soon as I set it up, within a couple of days, the owner of the home sold the home. I had to move out. ADT Self Setup wouldn't let me cancel. So, I had to keep paying even though I haven't been staying there. When I finally found a house six months later, I wanted to try to transfer and that was how that whole thing went.

    In the beginning, the young lady told me that they would buy out the first ADT thing that I had. I explained to her that I didn't wanna have two different contracts with the same company. She missed a step or two. Yesterday, I ended up having to call back because I got an email notification saying that the other ADT, which was through a third party, sent my bill through a collection. I had to call back, and the representative that I spoke to yesterday cleared everything and went through the whole steps and said that it would take a couple of days. She put notes in the system. She ran it through the payment part of whatever department, and said, "Give it at least 10 days and everything should be cleared up into the system.

    I did the setting up through the system, but I don't have it installed on outside the house. It's simple but not that simple for a person who is not tech-savvy. A person that is tech-savvy would have no problem. Also, I'm not handy with tools. Some of my family members are supposed to come over for the holidays. So, I'm gonna get one of them to put it on the house.

    ADT is a trustworthy name. They were very easy to work with. It was a good experience. I asked for a product. ADT Self Setup gave me the lineup. They did their best to give me a good deal. It's what I got. I did it over the phone. I'm very tech savvy. I work in the tech industry. I already reviewed the cameras. I'm well versed with it. By the time it came to speaking with ADT, we already knew what the cameras were. Setting them up was easy. I do things myself all the time. It wasn't difficult. A few screws here and there.

    Having an alarm system isn't bulletproof, but at the same time, it gives you some sort of comfort. I had a service at another location and I transferred over. ADT said that I would save money by transferring and they would take off the fees. I didn't finish setting up because it wasn't that easy. If I had more time, then I could sit and figure it out. But I don't. I've had ADT forever and I've always said to people that it's better to be safe than sorry. But this whole process of switching over from the old service to this new service has been horrendous. These last few months have been horrible. They tried charging me not once, but twice. And they charged me $495 one time without even telling me. I'm a single mom and the reason why I moved is I had to sell my house and I went through a divorce. Because of what they did to me, I had almost no money to buy food. I had $200 to get gas and groceries.

    I called my bank and told them I didn't authorize the charge from ADT because they were supposed to be taking the credit off. Then I got a new card and I didn't even pay ADT but somehow, they charged my card again. So, I had to cancel the card and get a new card. The customer service has been horrible because there have been multiple times where I've been on the phone for over an hour getting transferred to different persons and this had been going on since July. Nobody seems to know how to correct the situation. It's not any one person's fault but it's the fact that nobody's trained to know how to do it. My bank took off the charge because I didn't authorize it. But it’s ridiculous and it's to the point where I wouldn’t refer ADT to anybody.

    Going between a couple of different salespeople from ADT caused a major issue. I almost felt like I was dealing with a couple of different companies. We were selling our home and moving into an apartment. So, we were relocating and getting new equipment. Someone reached out to me at first asking about relocation and I talked to him but I had let him know we were still a month or two out. For whatever reason, I didn't save his contact information and lost that information. When it was time, I called the general number and talked to someone about getting services. A week later, the first guy ended up calling me back. I told him what had happened and then each of the two people had different pricing and options and things that were and weren’t allowed. It was a nightmare and I couldn't understand. I'm just a guy who's just trying to switch ADT. I don't know about all these embedded sales teams.

    I had to cancel one and talk to some team and this high-pressure manager. It was awful. I still stayed with ADT even though I had a bad taste in my mouth about it. I ended up going with the guy I originally talked to because he's closer and seemed like a real guy. He did what he said he was gonna do and set me up differently than what the other people had said. I trusted that he was being legit and so far, it’s been fine. But that was rough. It took forever, too. The customer service is the worst part about the system. And there are a lot of dudes who pull out high pressure in sales. It's just not good.

    I was able to set up the ADT system in my home and it took less than 24 hours. It was simple but I had to use a screwdriver when it came to my doorbell. Once I got everything done, it's been working really good. I like that no one really had to come into my home for the installation. But I would have liked cameras in the back of my house instead of just being at the doorbell because the camera is very good. As long as it's set up, you could move it around the way you want it to be in the home.

    I love the service. Everything's good. When I first called ADT and spoke to the sales representative, I told him, "Hey, I have no problem spending the $500 or $400 that you're asking me to give to set up my services. But I need to make sure the cameras that you're sending me, I don't have to set them up myself." The sales representative said, "Don't worry about it. The two cameras that I'm sending you have adhesive on the cameras, which means you can just glue them anywhere." But that was a lie. My camera wasn't set up for weeks and weeks and weeks after I went into labor because I couldn't do it. They didn't have adhesive on it, which was misleading. But now, everything's okay.

    ADT has some fundamental problems with addresses. I got some shipped that didn't ship. But at the end of the day, they took care of everything, so right now, I'm doing okay. I bought a system for my house and it worked out good. Then I bought another one for a friend. I put that address on the bill but nobody told me I was not supposed to have two addresses so then they canceled it. But I got through that. This last time, I forgot to put the apartment number on the place I sent it to, and so now it got all complicated. I made a mistake or two, but ADT gotta get everything squared away because they're gonna have problems, like people moving and they gotta transfer addresses. Mostly everything worked out pretty good. I like that the unit works out pretty well. Everybody did good.

    On the original Plus that I have at my house, if it loses Wi-Fi connectivity, ADT calls me. I panic. I got ADT calling me, I pick up the phone and it's a recorded message telling me that, “Oh, there might have been some power outage and that we had to switch to cellular.” I also get a text message. The text message is better. But now they started phone calling me. ADT should stop that. But at the end of the day, ADT has always done a good job for me. I was able to finally contact some people in billing. But I do like the Self Setup one. It works out pretty good. It's nice.

    It was the old system that ADT Self Setup put in for me. The young man who did it did a great job. We're old and he took time to explain everything. He set up our account. There were conflicting accounts. He was here and he switched our accounts from our Georgia account to New Jersey. We were supposed to get self setup. Someone from corporate made an appointment for us. When the young man came, we told him that we didn't like the self setup. We liked our old system. He talked to his supervisor and they switched it to the old system. We were very happy. I was upset with ADT. But now that he came, I was pleased.

    ADT Self Setup is a good service. It is sometimes not always the best option, especially if people do not know anything about their sensors. I would ask more questions about the sensors, like do they fit all doors. If they don't fit the doors, what do I do? But the system works well. I feel secure in the sensors that I have set up. Even at my first apartment. Also, I like that it's on the phone.

    However, ADT Self Setup wanted me to do more money, and I kept saying, “No. I'll just do something else.” They have these packages, and the rep went back to her supervisor twice to bring down the price, with the final decision that I would pay for the devices up front, and I could later decide whether I wanted to do the monthly monitoring by them or I would self-monitor. I wasn't happy with the sensor that she supplied. I ended up having to have a technician come out, and he said, “These sensors are not gonna work. You're gonna have to move your door.” There was no follow-up after that, so I wasn't so happy with it, but I just figured I paid for it already and I couldn't get out of it.

    I’m not very happy with the service that I received from ADT. I had difficulty setting up and I had to have someone come out and install the equipment for me, which was not a part of the plan. I did not agree to self-setup and have no idea how that was even put onto my account. I tried to call back and change it and I was told that it would be an additional $400 for someone to come out from ADT to set it up. On top of that, there were pieces of equipment I requested that I did not get. I was okay with the quote that I was given knowing that it would be everything that I requested. When I called and tried to request the additional equipment, I was told that the quote that I was given was no longer valid and it would be way more per month.

    The salesperson had to just be spewing stuff off to get me to close on a deal because it seemed like it didn't connect. The things that he put into my account as far as what I asked for and what he told me did not match up with the package that I received. The doorbell camera works fine. But I don't know how to make the best use of the equipment without what I requested. I have no idea how to use the base without a control panel. I don't know how the two correlate. I would not recommend someone else to ADT if they're getting a service or a piece of equipment. I also was told that I was not under contract but when I talked to the self-service agent, she told me that to send that equipment back, I would have to cancel some type of contract. So, whenever this contract is up, I will not be renewing.

    ADT sent me a package for 3,000 something dollars and I said that was over my budget and the guy suggested the self-installation which would allow us to save more than 1,000. The first rep I worked with was okay. The only thing is that when I received the equipment, I was not that satisfied because based on the first quote he gave me for the $3,000 system, he promised six sensors and the keypad for the door lock. When I received the package, it was two cameras, the doorbell and two sensors.

    When I called to complain about it, the rep said there was nothing they could do and that would be for the same price. I was not that happy with that because I prefer knowing upfront what I will get and get it than telling me I will receive something and that was not the case. Also, the kitchen camera runs out of charge maybe every other day, so I have to remove it and charge it. I’m not sure if I have a factory warranty because it's less than six months. But overall, I will refer other friends and family members to ADT.

    It was easy to set ADT up. I didn't hook up everything that was in the package, though. They sent me way more door and window connections than I needed. The whole total of equipment was less than $500, too. The mobile app is also easy to use and navigate. However, I need to figure out how to turn off all the little notifications because it sends me like 500 million of them.

    My mom had ADT in her house for years, and when I was looking for a new security system for my house, I went based off what I knew about in the past. I talked to a rep who laid out the rules, the pricing, and he set me up with someone to talk to on Facetime. My friend and I put the system together on our own. We walked through the steps in the app, and we had to watch videos to put it together, but I'm not sure if we did it correctly. For some reason, if I put stay, like we're staying here, and I walk around the house, the motion detector and the alarm go off. I've used the system twice to test it out, but because I'm not able to use the stay button, I haven't been using it. I need to get in contact with ADT soon about it and see if somebody can come help me out, but I haven't been paying it any attention.
