The person I signed up with messed me up. She gave me the wrong package, and then I did not know which one I had. So, I asked for somebody to come out here and hook it up. I didn’t know how to hook it up, so she had me self-doing it myself. Nobody never came out. I was given the ordering system on the phone. Other than that, my experience has been okay.

ADT was recommended by an agent. We ran into some issues during the self-setup. I have a sensor on one of my doors that doesn’t want to set for when you’re setting the alarm. And I have another one when you set it for when you’re at home instead of away, the front door wants to go off. But, if I set it for night, it doesn’t.

ADT has been around for a long time, and I see the signs around in people’s yards. The self-setup was good because I use those Nest cameras. Customer service was also good. The sales rep during the purchase was a nice guy. The quality of the system is good.
I do notice, however, that my cameras don’t go into night vision mode when it is dark out. I don’t know if it is glitchy or if there’s a setting I got wrong. It’s not often, but sometimes my cameras are just black. Also, I don’t like the fact that if I lose power at the house, my ADT goes offline. I don’t know what they could do about that other than having a battery backup. But, I like the system overall.

My father-in-law has ADT, and they told me that that was the best security system for us because we were living in a rough part of town. We went ahead and got it, and we’ve been using it ever since. We enjoy it. We just moved and they gave us another option for the mobile system, so I’m still working on the bugs and getting all the alarms and stuff hung up on the doors and whatnot. But other than that, the experience has been good.
In the past two interactions I’ve had with them, customer service has been good. There was at some point in time where I forgot I was even on the phone with ADT. They are awesome. The pricing that I’m paying for it is wonderful. I’m saving 40 bucks now, so it is good. However, I don’t like their app because I tried to go in and changed the name of one of the alarms or delete one of the alarms and it did not let me.

The customer service representatives at ADT were very nice and professional. When I ordered everything, I talked to them over the phone and they matched the price that was online and the deal that wasn’t being offered when I was filling everything out online. I also called them one time for assistance.
Setting up their system was easy. I already bought everything they offered and I really like them. I'm very satisfied with all my stuff. But as far as ease of use, I had to use multiple apps for my system.

The self-install with ADT was fairly simple and the overall quality so far is good. I bought it because I purchased a home that already had an ADT system. My home is in a remote area and the landline went out, and with no service tech close by I had to go with fiber optic, which is the Self Setup system. I couldn’t cancel the contract because ADT refused it, which left me very dissatisfied with them.

I liked that I did not need someone else to come into my house and install it, and that I can do all that stuff by myself. The setup process was very easy, but the cancellation process was quite a pain. They would not let me cancel. They kept trying to beat around the bush when all I wanted to do was cancel.
To get in contact with them was easy, but getting in contact with the actual right person who needed to handle my actual case was quite difficult. I had to call five different people just to get cancelled. Every single time, I had to re-verify. That was stupid considering I verified four other times. But other than that, it was fine. If you don’t have to cancel, it’s a great service.

They were there if I needed them, but reading the instructions makes it pretty self-explanatory. Overall, it's good and pretty cool, but the ADT app sucks because it freezes up all the time. I have to constantly reboot my phone if I'm using the app to try to turn the thing off when I'm coming in. Sometimes, I have to shut the whole phone down.

I’ve been with ADT for about a month. Their salespeople were nice, but the problem I have is that they forced us to buy things. For example, we were not ready to get what we wanted because we were just searching for it. They told us to get it, and we got it.
Later on, I was getting an email that said, "You need to set it up in the next week or so." Then, there was something like, "After 30 days, you're going to go online." At that point, we weren’t even ready because I hadn't installed the items all the way. So, in that aspect, I think I'm not happy about it at all. The people I spoke with are pretty nice, and they will try to accommodate me. For example, we were able to talk to them, and they gave us some credit.
It is now in place, but it's not really connected to the police. We haven't alarmed the system yet. I have downloaded the app, and I'm not extremely happy with it. I need to talk to somebody at some point because they're saying it works well with Google Nest and everything else, but every time I go in, they say, "You need to sign up." I just don't understand why you have to sign in every single time. As for the price, they were in line with others. Not much cheaper, not much.

Decades ago, I had my businesses with ADT, so I use it for my home also. My experience with them is okay. We just had a little issue yesterday when the alarms went off while we weren’t home. The alarm indicated the family window, but when we rushed home, there was nothing. ADT called the police, but it was a false alarm. Maybe a window sensor that's gone bad or something. We called them back and said to cancel the police. They said they would right away, but two hours later, the police showed up.

The sales rep was good. All the information was given quickly and easily. Everything was straight up and out in the open. And when you go to sign it, there are no hidden fees. It’s affordable and installation was easy. So far, it’s good. It's seamless and I'd recommend ADT.

I moved into the new home and I wanted to secure it. I heard a lot of good things about ADT. Also, some of my family members have it. Their rep and their manager were both excellent. The lady who came out was my main agent and she introduced me to the manager. He was the one who came out and committed everything. Both of them were very helpful and I had an awesome experience with them.
I spoke with the manager. He just came down and he was a great help. He put all the sensors and the doorbell camera on. He submitted everything and he was awesome. I got a call because one of the sensors was defective. He told me to call him, but I haven't called yet. I'm a truck driver so I am not home that often. The manager told me they'll send the replacement sensor to the house. We already got it and we already logged it in. The only thing we have to do is disconnect it from one of the windows or wherever we want it.
ADT’s price is excellent. Monitoring and everything is good. When it comes to billing, I have everything on automatic and I don't have to deal with anybody. They just take the money out. ADT did a great job and they had great communication skills. It was awesome. A+. I recommend them to a friend.

I assumed ADT had an option available where I could just set the service up myself, so I asked and, sure enough, they did. The setup process was fine. There's nothing to it. I only used the drill once, and that was for the doorbell camera.
Some of the products they're using are terrible. I had to send one back because it would not connect to any network. That's not on ADT necessarily. It's on Google. My Wi-Fi could be a little bit to blame, too. I'm not gonna say anything bad about them. They helped me out as far as all that goes. It was a little rocky getting ahold of somebody at first when I had to call, but once I did -- he was a manager -- he was extremely helpful.
Besides that, it's fine once it's all good and up and going. I feel real secure, go out of town and leave the door unlocked. I've already had this alarm go off a couple of times on false alarms, but I can guarantee ain't nobody coming in here.

ADT wouldn't honor the contract, so we stopped that installment. Then we found out there were three other contracts with the same exact numbers, but each one was different. We were finally able to talk to one of their managers who was able to help us. They gave us four extra sensors for the doors and windows and an indoor camera, which were all supposed to be on the original contract, and we’re supposed to be receiving a full month's credit for this month, but we have yet to see it on our bill.
I set everything up myself except for the Nest camera that was on the doorbell because I'm worried about someone shutting off the internet and then smashing the outdoor camera, and most of it was easy after I got the hang of it. I wanna make sure there's no extra numbers or authorized users on the account ‘cause the whole purpose of getting this system is to make sure that one person stays out of the house. I fail to see how that’s happening ‘cause we still have stuff coming up missing even after the ADT. Granted, they weren't worth more than $50, I still spend $50 every couple of days just to replace them, and it's not right. Monitoring is good, but the camera skips and I’d like to know why there's skips in our indoor camera. For their general customer service, it’s a big waiting game. Unless you get straight to the right person, they are placing you on this hold and that hold and it's a whole bunch of rigmarole.

When we first got ADT, we told them where we wanted the back camera. The tech who came out kept saying he wasn't able to put it in the back, so he didn’t put the camera in the right area. Ever since then we’ve been having a problem with the security system and they haven't fixed it. Getting ahold of them was easy. But when I called, they were trying to charge me to have somebody else come out and set up another camera. They wanted to cancel it and then do a whole bunch of extra other stuff, and I just said, "Forget it." If I walk into my house, it takes a good minute or two just for the alarm to go off. It takes more than a minute to alarm itself, and when it does go off, it takes more than 10 minutes to call the police or even ADT. We tried it out one time to see how long it was gonna take, it took about 10 minutes, and they didn't even call the police. They called the automatic person, and they called me.

Definitely try out ADT. My favorite feature is that I can see everything on the app in one place. All the cameras tie into the app, so I don't have to go to different apps to see different things. I like the way that it is. Setup was easy. I downloaded the app and, once the base was connected, I just added the different sensors and devices that I had. Total setup, with putting up all the devices, took me about an hour and 30 minutes. The system’s functionality is easy too. It works flawlessly. Only issue I've had is with the window sensors that are in my office. If I open the blinds and the blinds touch the sensor, it goes off and says tampered.
I ordered all wired cameras when I was on the phone with the rep, but I got one battery camera. Now, I gotta go through the hassle of sending it back and getting the one that I wanted. A couple of days ago, I had to order some extra sensors and I wanted one with the black cover. I just called the number. I had to get transferred once, but besides that, it was easy. The interaction was great and I got my sensors in two days.

ADT is overall very good. I always have cameras, but the area has grown so much that I added a little extra with the ADT. It was really something I felt the need to have installed. I'm an old man and ADT has been around for a long time. I paid for the man to do the setup, and they did a wonderful job. They asked me where I wanted all the sensors to go and they asked for the main panel. They suggested it'd be best in the one area which is in the dining room, and I went along with them. That was very nice. They were really nice people. I believe they were local in the town I live in.

The process with ADT was horrifying. We tried to do the front door lock twice and I had dealt with them for two weeks trying to get that figured out. I know they understood what was going on, but we didn't. They said they wouldn't send out a technician because it's a self-setup. So we are sending back the two locks to them and we just bought our own lock from Walmart because there's no point in having it because it doesn't work right.
The cameras were doing good, but then I switched internet and it was a big pain in the butt to switch it from one internet to the other. I finally got that figured out, but it wasn't telling me the codes and when people showed up at my door. So I had to call them again. I've called ADT 12 times in the last two weeks that I've had the service and it's just lame.
None of the technicians really knew what they were doing. One technician said he'd talk to me again in a week. But when they called, it wasn't even the same technician and that person had no idea. So I had to tell him everything over again. So nobody knew anything. I'm only keeping the cameras now that I got it figured out, but I'm not happy about the door lock and the service.

We had an awful experience with ADT. We were quoted one price and they tried to bill us a higher price. The technician couldn't figure out how to get our phones to work. I had to end up taking care of it myself. Every time I called in to get support, I'd be transferred to the wrong department and I had to explain my whole experience again. I literally spent hours trying to get everything situated. The customer service was horrendous.
Finally, I got somebody that was intelligent enough to help me and get everything straightened out. But it literally took almost three weeks to get everything up and running, then they were trying to bill us the incorrect amount. They also didn't give our free Ring doorbell camera. The guy probably took it so he could sell it online. The whole experience was just horrible.
When I first set up the service, it was only a dollar more on my bill to get the carbon monoxide and fire detector. But then when the technician came out and convinced us to add more, he had me sign a new contract and the bill was $7 more. So now, I have to call back every year and get an $85 credit. I'm going to have to relive that nightmare in a year. I had to actually threaten to cancel our service in both our homes just to get my $85 back for this year.
We had technicians come out to both homes. The technician in the Bay Area was good. But we live up in the country, so they sent somebody over from Reno and that was disgusting. I had to open my doors and windows because the guy hadn't showered and smelled like a homeless person. I just felt like the smell wouldn't get out of the house. After that, nobody ever returned to fix our phones.

I don't have the ADT system all the way set up. I'm not really using anything except the camera because I can't get anything else set up. I do have the base set up, but I don't know how to pair any of the other stuff to it. I also can't turn the alarm system on when I'm away because I have pets. Nobody told me that when I purchased the system or I wouldn't have purchased all that stuff. I would have just gotten the camera.
The only reason I got the cameras working is because I reached out to a representative. When it came to pairing the whole system and getting it started up, he said he was going to send me a link to a video, which he did and I did watch it, but I just couldn't figure it out. It took me talking to four other representatives to get to the guy that could actually help me because the rest of them had no clue what I was talking about.
But I will say the sound and quality of the camera are amazing. It's the best feature ADT offers. The rest of the other stuff feels unnecessary and I'm not going to get much use out of it.

I was renting a house in town. I got ADT. They came and installed it, and gave me a really good deal. I signed a two-year contract, told them at the time, “We're moving into a rental. And the next year, we're gonna buy a house.” And we did. We bought a house eights months later. So, I went to go move the ADT.
First, they tried to get me for breaking the contract and send me a $1,300 bill, which I eventually got resolved. And then second, they charged me what was going to be $450 to reinstall equipment after I told them I was gonna move and was already a customer under contract. So, I talked to them. And they ended up saying they sent a local guy out.
And he's like, “For 300 or so, you can do self-install,” which I didn't really wanna do. I wanted them to install it professionally like they did the first time. But it was $150 cheaper. So, I did the self-install.
And now, when I went to install it, the sensors needed to update. So, I ended up calling tech support. I put four. One in the front door, one in each of the office doors, and then one on the back door. And only the front door was responding. Only the front one would make the noise and give me an indication on the app that it was open and closing. So, I called tech support.
They said, “Oh, you’re on firmware version 11. And it needs to be on 15, so it's updating.” I was like, “What version is it on now?” And she said, “12.” And I said, “How can I tell if it's on 15?” And she said, “You can't. You can't see it on your app. Only I can tell.” So, I just left it for a couple days.
I've had the security system for a couple of weeks, and I haven't actually used it. I went on a work trip for a week. I came back. Now, the two office doors work, open and close, make the sound, report it on the app. The back door still does not work, so I still haven't turned the system on because it's not fully functional.
When I came back from a trip, I checked it. Now the other two office doors, sensors are both working properly. But the back door still does not. I can open the back door all the way up and close it. It doesn't trip the sensor, doesn't give me a thing on the app.
If they didn't have me under the $1,300 contract, I probably would have left ADT and just went to somebody else, because they were gonna charge me to install hardware that I was paying for. And I told them I was gonna move. And I'm literally like five miles away. So, it's in the same town. The whole process has not been good.
DIY is more complicated than I thought it would be. The firmware thing, I had no idea that they would send me hardware that wasn't already on the latest firmware. I would absolutely not recommend it to anybody else. It's been a mess and still isn't working. It's not fully functional.

The Self Setup was super easy and convenient, and the app is very user-friendly. Overall, it was positive, very simple to set up. I followed the instructions to the T, it wasn't hard or complicated, and it took five minutes. I’m pretty satisfied with it. I got the DIY kit for free and the monitoring fee $25 a month. I'm not necessarily sure if it has anything to do with ADT+ and the Self Setup and all that, but when I was moving, I was trying to essentially cancel my ADT services and I expected to be able to just pay off the equipment cost and the guy who came out and set it up and then just be done with it. Maybe I didn't pay as good of attention when it was all getting set up, but I didn't know that whatever loan term you set up for the equipment and the person to come out and set up your stuff, part of the contract would be your monitoring contract as well. So, if you wanted to cancel, then you have to pay 75% of the remaining amount for the monitoring fee. So, between the equipment and the 75% of the monitoring fee, it was gonna cost me like $2600, and I just thought that that was absurd and a ridiculous business practice.
I ended up paying off the equipment cost and then I rolled my contract into the DIY monitoring contract because that was a cheaper way to do it. And it's convenient to still have a security system in my new house, and they were able to take care of it, but it was beyond upsetting and frustrating dealing with that whole process. The position I was put in was I can get the DIY kit and set it up and have a monitoring contract that would supersede or override the old contract so they would void out the monitoring contract throughout the rest of the five-year term thing. So, I was put in a position where I couldn’t just cancel and then I have to spend $300 to not spend $2600 trying to cancel. So, that's just like an annoying place to be. It was just frustrating, and plainly, it just pissed me off. But spend $300 or $2600, I'll spend $300. But all that because I want to cancel the service, and to me, it's just crazy.

I did have help setting up the system. We called and got help. They walked us through it, We finally figured it out and the person helped us when we called. Mounting the equipment was not as easy, but other than that, everything else was good.
So far, I like it. I already was telling my dad that I like it and I like the storage thing, how long it is. And it's real clear. The only thing is, for the doorbell, I wasn't aware that I would have to add another piece. It's a sound inside the house when the doorbell rings. I still like it, though. And ADT has been very helpful. The customer service is great.

The ADT Self Setup is pretty cool. Setting it up was straightforward. I would have preferred to have a doorbell that I don't have to worry about charging, and a louder base, but the functionality is okay for the most part. It’s easy to navigate through the app, so it’s user-friendly. They called to see why we took a while to set it up. And we still haven't installed everything, but the things that we have installed have been easy. Just that part of having to charge the doorbell four hours is really irritating me.

I was with SimpliSafe for two months, and ADT is 100 times better. I have already been telling all my friends to drop that SimpliSafe stuff and come with ADT.
I didn’t set it up myself and had somebody from ADT come in and put it in. The first person that came out was good, but on a freshly built house I paid $601,000 cash for, he didn’t do all the doors right, and the hood thing didn’t work. The day after he left, they stopped working, and I had to get somebody back out. Once the system was in place, everything worked properly, and I could actually use this stuff even though I’m not a computer person.

As far as the product, it’s been good. But I didn’t like that it was DIY. I would’ve preferred a system where someone could install it, but I was told that service wasn’t offered in my area. If someone comes to my home like my sister who is always here trying to see what's in the fridge, I can go on my phone unlock the door for her and disarm the alarm. There were no issues setting it up. Everything was easy. I was trying to take off an added service that I got, which is the 24/7 video recording because I figured I didn't need it, and when I called, I got transferred to three different departments, so I never got that taken care of. I've had ADT for years. I just sold the condo unit, so I just transferred it to my new home. A technician came out and set it up for me and he was great. He was very polite, talked me through everything he was doing, how it would be set up and how it worked. Everything is working properly. My only issue is with the older model I had, when the door was open, it would say, "Front door open, back door open." This one doesn't say that. It beeps when the door is open, but it's not loud at all. I turned it up, but the volume doesn’t go any higher. I can only hear it if I'm in the room with the actual system on the base. But I could be in the back of the house, and if my son is in town, he comes through with his key, and I don't even know that he's here. Another thing is when I had my other systems, they came with remotes. This one, I had to go online and purchase them.

We haven’t used it much yet, but it’s functional. I’ve tried the camera system, which is more of a Google product, and everything works.
I had originally purchased SimpliSafe because it was a bit cheaper, but ADT had a feature I needed that worked better. I never ended up using SimpliSafe for my business because I needed multiple PINs, and it either didn’t allow them or was very limited.
It was a good experience compared to other systems I’ve used, including ADT. The self-setup is the more pleasant experience. It seems to do everything I need, and I hope they continue to innovate. I like the features, like customizable warnings when things disconnect and the ability to create rules for alerts. All of that works very well.

We live rurally. And we had a house that burned down that we had ADT in for 14 years. And it was really good. And then when we had the new house built, they put in Ring. And I didn’t like it as well as the other one, although it turns out they’re both pretty close now. The other one was all wired in, in the windows and everywhere. And Ring is just sensors on the doors, which are fine. But we decided we wanted more coverage than what Ring was giving us. And so, we decided to call ADT again. And they came out and put it in.
But a couple of days after it was put in, the alarm kept going off in the middle of the night on one of the doors, and it did that one night. And then a couple of nights later, it did it again. And then a night later, it went off a couple of times. And so, I just took the device off the system.
And then we tried to get a new device. We talked to somebody on the phone. And I ended up breaking that one. So, they sent us another one, which they were gonna charge us for, but thankfully, didn’t.
And then another person called. And he was supposed to help us set it up, and he didn’t. He just said to pull out the little battery thing. And so, we did. And he said we were good to go, and hung up. And so, we had trouble getting it set up. For some reason, we couldn’t get the back off of it. And finally, my husband did.
And another woman called. And we tried to get it going and had trouble with it. But finally, we got cut off from her. And we were able to get it back online.
But we were upset since we’d only had that system for about a week and had no idea what we were doing. We were upset that no one actually came out to help us with it. And we kept having to go through calling them and then trying to help us over the phone, since the system was so new and we had no idea. So, that part wasn’t good. And it seems to be working fine other than that.
So, in the beginning, when everything’s so new, and also, when you’re in your 70s like my husband and I are, I would hope that they would send someone to help you get it set up. But I guess they don’t have too many people that come out either. So, I’m assuming that everything is the same now. You just have to deal with it more on your own. And a couple of the people I talked to on the phone were very short and exasperated with us. That didn’t help, because we were already frustrated with it. But they weren’t as nice as they should have been.
So, the two weeks that we’ve had this one, the system seems okay, although I don’t think the wind should be setting off the one sensor. And I will probably call back and try to find out why it’s doing that if it does it again. But as far as systems go, it’s probably an average system.

Then we went with another security company and the cameras weren’t picking up our daughter when she would walk up and down the stairs. So, we stopped with them and then decided we would do bare bones things on what we needed from ADT and that was how we got on them.
We get 24-hour monitoring with the system. We needed help with the cameras that are used on the outside, and they were installed by a third-party electrician we hired. The price itself is really high, but I understand with the quantity and quality. I also have the ADT app and it is easy to turn on and off the system from it. If you have the money to go for top-notch, then go for it. As far as the technology side, 24-hour monitoring and the cameras and everything on that, I would tell you to go for it.

I did the self‑setup, but I’m not getting the service I thought I would. I ordered the equipment, and ADT told me I had to set it up myself. I followed the instructions and set it up, and it was fairly easy. I talked with a representative from time to time, and that’s how I got it set up. Communication with ADT is good, and it’s not hard to reach them.
What I’m not getting is the security part I expected. The volume from the base unit is very low. You can’t really hear it from another room. If something happens, you don’t get a loud alarm. I also haven’t set up the door camera yet. I told the representative I would call back about that, but she was on leave.
What originally convinced me to choose ADT was the price. It was $99 at first, then it became $108 plus tax, which was not good. Now, the service and the monthly payment don’t feel like I’m getting much value.
At this point, I regret what I bought because of the service I’m getting. If the service were better, the price would be fair. But the monthly payment is the main issue. Right now, I’m paying $39 a month for just the doorbell and some sensors.

My wife’s sister has the system, so she decided to try it as well. We didn’t set it up ourselves. The technician came out and did the installation. Most of the window magnets don’t stay attached. They either didn’t wipe it clean enough or didn’t use strong enough adhesive, because many of them have already fallen off.
I’ll have to go back and fix that myself. I don’t think it’s necessarily the technician’s fault, but they probably need better training or better materials so the magnets stay in place. Overall, they were professional and courteous.
We pay $49.50 a month. It could be cheaper. They initially told us it would be one price, and then later we found out it was a different price, between $49 and $59. The price changed on us.

Because of health reasons, I had to move into an apartment in January, and I transferred my ADT service from my house to the apartment. It went very badly. I asked to have it transferred, and I was told I wouldn’t have to pay any termination fees. I planned to do the self‑install since I have a technical background and was fine with that.
My equipment didn’t arrive for about a month. I also called to ask why a termination fee had been added to my account, and I was charged $650. It turned out that the equipment meant for installation had been shipped to Salt Lake City, Utah, instead of Kansas City.
About two weeks later, I received my equipment. I installed it and activated the API broadcaster. I’ve been working with ADT to get a refund on my account. Right now, my account shows a negative $650 balance. They told me they would send me a check so I can pay my credit card, but I would prefer they refund it directly to the card instead of having to deal with a check. But that’s just how they’re handling it.
Setting up the system was very simple. I already had my Wi‑Fi network set up and my SSID ready. I plugged in the API, and it connected pretty quickly. I already had the ADT app on my phone. I installed the door contacts on the front door and the sliding glass door. I also have a couple of glass‑break detectors and a motion sensor, but I haven’t installed those yet. The apartment is pretty small, so I haven’t needed to put them in.
I used to work with alarm systems earlier in my career, probably about 10 years ago. The system works fine, and I’m perfectly happy with it. I haven’t had any problems or false alarms. The notifications I receive are accurate. If I lose power or have to restart the API, I get a notification on my phone saying it’s disconnected from Wi‑Fi. Everything is working well.
I use the mobile app on my phone. I had a separate control app for my house before, and when I moved here, I started using the MyADT app. It works fine, is easy to navigate, and lets me do everything I need. I use it to arm and disarm the system and to see if an alarm has gone off. I had one window that used to trigger false alarms when the wind blew.
Overall, my experience with ADT has been mostly positive. With a project like this, there can be a snafu or two, and that’s not a big deal. Overall, the system is doing a good job. Paying about $60 a month isn’t bad when it’s backed by a national company like ADT.

I thought my current company was too expensive, so I wanted to get a quote from a different company, and I have family members who have ADT. I did not know about self-setup until I called and talked to sales and decided to go with ADT.
The sales experience was fine. And the person I talked to was nice. He answered all my questions easily.
Setting up the system was not difficult, but I did have an issue following. And I made a few unhappy calls to ADT. But the setup itself, just doing it, was not a problem. It took an hour for us to really do everything and take off the old stuff. So, it was fine. We didn’t have any issues with the setup.
And the system works fine. It does what it needs to do. But I’m not happy with some of the things. And I had to speak to three tech people and two customer service people to understand what was happening, which was no fault of my own.
Apparently, at the end, after speaking to all these people and them claiming that it was my Wi-Fi, I finally talked to a technician or a support tech that explained to me that ADT pings a few times a day the system to make sure it’s working, and it takes it offline very quickly and checks the cellular and then puts it back online.
And due to this, I was getting notifications because I had my notifications enabled for those things, like my Wi-Fi was dropping. And the other technicians were just telling me that it must be my Wi-Fi. And we did all the tests, and it came back perfectly fine, and my Wi-Fi was not dropping from any other devices. So, I knew something was not right.
So, it turns out that this last technician told me that it must be a glitch or something with the new system, where if you have the notifications on, it alerts you via email and text. And sometimes they call you every few days to tell you that you’ve had an outage. And it’s very annoying. And it will also do it in the middle of the night.
So, we had to turn off the notifications in order for me not to get the emails and texts, but I still get a phone call every few days that I’m having an outage, and I am absolutely not having an outage. My issue is that they should not be alerting customers. Customers should not receive a communication on an outage that is a test of ADT that they are doing. And this is what is happening.
So, I was very upset. I almost canceled it, actually, and I only had it for a few weeks. I was so upset that nobody can answer my question. I was put in a circle. I had to talk to two salespeople. They told me maybe I need to upgrade my system because it’s not working with my Wi-Fi.
And I also had two service appointments previously on two other different days. One was two hours long, where they had to try to troubleshoot. One was not as long, but the guy said he can’t help me with it, and that I just have to live with it.
So, finally, I talked to the third and final tech the other day, who said to me that they just have to find a workaround so that I don’t get the messages. Because I will keep getting them because ADT is obviously not distinguishing the difference between a test they’re doing and an actual outage in my Wi-Fi.
And the whole thing for me to get from A to B, not counting hours, was a week for me to get some type of a workaround. Not a fix, but a workaround. So, I’m still gonna get a call. I still got a call the other day from ADT telling me I had an outage. So, it’s not 100% fixed.
But it took, hours-wise of my time, about four hours at least between speaking to people and working with the techs. And at the end of my one two-hour troubleshooting appointment, they told me to split the bands between my Wi-Fi. And I had my company do that, and it still didn’t fix anything. So, it was maybe between four to five or four to six hours and about a week of calling, making appointments with the tech to walk me through everything and test everything until one tech was able to give me some insight on what was even going on and telling me that it was not my fault.

Setting the system up wasn’t too bad. I was able to walk through the app and get it done in less than half an hour from start to finish.
But I do have an issue. I live in an area that does not get good cellular service, and the base requires a connection to cellular. So, it’s not notifying ADT when I’ve got a problem. It notifies me through the internet, which is fine, but it doesn’t notify ADT, which I don’t really care either way. But that’s been the only tech issue I’ve had. But I can let them know that I don’t get good cell service, and then they can either direct me on how to connect it to a landline so that it calls ADT, and that would be fine.
So, self-setup was just fine, but I did have an issue when I reached out to them about a customer service issue. But that’s nothing. I don’t want to conflate the two. But I did have a customer service issue that was unresolved, and they weren’t able to help me with it.

I haven’t had any negative experiences with the sales representative at ADT, but I also called ADT a day after I got the service and told them I was unsatisfied with the service that they gave me. One, because I cannot hear my doorbell ringing from upstairs. Two, they did not tell me that my keypad was gonna be a sit-on-the-table keypad. That’s not what I wanted. That’s not what I expected. Three, you don’t know which door is being opened. It’s a bleep-bleep that you hear. You don’t know if it’s a door open or if it’s a window open.
So, I really believe that they just gave me what they wanted me to have. They did not indicate to me what they were giving me. I’m thinking that it was going to be an on-the-wall keypad where I can hear if someone’s opening my back door, if someone’s opening my front door, or my windows. But I don’t know any of that. All I hear is a little bleep go off if the front door opens. If I hear it. Because what they gave me, I cannot hear it through my house. It’s so low. It’s at the max, and you cannot hear. If I’m in my bedroom, I can’t hear anybody that was ringing my doorbell. So, it was really pointless.
And so, I called customer service, and I spoke with a young lady the next day, and she didn’t do anything. She just said that it’s the one that the salesman put in for me. But the salesman did not say anything to me about it. No one explained the equipment that I got. And no one had called me since I talked to the lady.

So, when he went out the back door, he said he noticed that it didn’t make a sound when he opened the door, the alert that the door has been opened.
So, that part is unsafe, because somebody can actually be breaking into my house right now through the back door, and I wouldn’t know.

The ADT Self Setup was not easy at all. My husband had to help me, and it was pretty hard to get all the phones connected. We still don’t have everything connected right. It said my password had been tried too many times because my husband thought it was one thing and I thought it was another, so they gave me a 30-day lockdown. I still can't even use mine.
It went off today when I was doing the dishes. I think today’s the first day because we have a seven-day period before it starts working.

We know this brand. I would recommend them. The price is affordable and the process is very simple. Our motivation to install ADT is because of a safety issue in the city.
We called customer service and asked them for a quote. After we confirmed that we would get the system, they sent out the package. We asked a local technician to install it in our home, and it went very smoothly. There was nothing too complicated in the installation process.
The system is stable and so far, so good. We have the Google Camera, which is the best feature we like. I have not had any incident, so I cannot say how sensitive or alert it is. The best part is when the suspicious see the sign or the camera outside, they will go away and find another target.

It wasn’t bad. I followed the instructions, set up the base unit, and put the sticker. It was easy and pretty quick to do. It works well, and I haven’t had any issues so far. It’s just three small sensors, and they do their job. I know when the doors open and close.
I feel safer with ADT now. I can keep an eye on my house and my belongings when I’m not there, and I don’t have to worry about someone breaking in without me knowing. My favorite part is being able to monitor everything from my phone.

I’ve had ADT for 20 years. I have an old plan. And then we also have it at the general office. And we’re good. But I’m kind of upset about something because they came out to one of our rental houses to put the service up. They were unable to hook up the camera, so we had to redo it. They couldn’t do it up, so they ended up just putting the basic unit in. But they keep sending me a bill for 500 and some odd dollars, and they didn’t do all of that.
And then somebody called me yesterday, and I was talking to him, and then he had me on hold for about an hour, and then I got tired, so I hung up the phone. And they sent me a text message today saying that I owe them. And I’m like, “Let’s be realistic. All you did was put a unit up so I can monitor, and internet, and that’s $587? Come on now.” So, I’ll deal with them about that.

I've known about ADT for years. My mom used to have them when I was little. It's the same security system we use now. They have been around for years, so I really trust them. I compared them with some other security companies that are newer, and a lot of them had not-so-good ratings. That's why I went back ADT. I really wanted it because I have kids and my husband travels sometimes for work.
Signing up with ADT Self Setup was simple. I ordered the system online and everything was through the website. Setting it up at home took 20 minutes. I put it all together myself, even the door alarm. You just take it off, match it up, and it sticks. The system has worked ever since I applied everything. I didn't apply the Google doorbell because we have a Blink, but everything else was simple. You plug in the little keypad, connect it to Wi-Fi, and it works.
Sometimes, the app freezes, though. If my daughter sets the alarm and I go to reset it, it won't let me because she's disarmed it from her phone, so I have to do a lot of logging back in. That's the most annoying part about it, but everything else is cool. Also, for the first couple of days, I didn't feel safe because the system was in practice mode. I do not like that part because if you're paying for something, why would you put it in practice mode for 11 days? That’s crazy. If something happens, nobody's gonna be notified because it's not even connected to whoever to come out and help you. But now I feel okay because it's out of that little timeframe.

I do hair, and a friend of mine put her wig in my mailbox so that I could wash it and everything for he. somebody stole right out of the mailbox. And it was her birthday. Tat's what brought me to finally getting the cameras and joining the rest of society.
I was trying to save money, and you could save a little bit by installing the cameras yourself, which I thought would be an easy process. I kind of just pulled out everything. I didn't read through the directions. And I thought it was hard, so I waited around for several weeks before I finally pulled out the scan code or a SKU code. I scanned it and it was so easy. I was so mad at myself because it was real easy to set up. I was able to put it up by myself, and now, it's up and going. I love it, too. I hate that I waited so long.
It's really, really good. I get a notification every time somebody comes to the door. I get to see everything. I also get to see a perfect view of my mailbox and I get to watch it live. I get to record the video. It comes in real time. And it works in the dark, like at night time, even when it's raining. I get to see everything and I absolutely love it.
I don't know how to do cameras and play with my phone and all that, but I like that they bring it right to you. I don't have to go look for what's going on in the camera. I just have to tap the notification and I can see the video. I can see even a still shot of the video when the notification comes up so I can see who's at the door. I work from home and I'm always on the computer or on the phone, so it's convenient. That's my favorite feature.
It's so funny because when I was fiddling about setting it up, they made sure to call me. And it wasn't like they were bugging me. They were just like, "Girl, you okay? Do you need help? We could send somebody out." They were so helpful to try to get it set up and provide me all these options. They would have sent somebody out. They even told me that they can have somebody video call me.

We had the Blue by ADT and it didn’t work well at all and stayed broken all the time. I couldn’t arm it and didn’t do anything except the doors would chime when you open and close it. So, I called to cancel everything and the lady I talked to was really nice, personable and relatable. She told me about the free upgrade to the ADT+ where the technology was improved, that it worked with Google and that it was a lot better than the one that we already had. Every question that I had, she responded back to me with an answer to solve the problem instead of just brushing me off and trying to get me to buy. She explained everything and told me that later down the road, if we wanted other things like outdoor cameras, we could add at any time. It really helped also that she told me that she had one in her home too and that she really liked it.
I wanted something that when you open the door, it chimes because we have kids and I wanna know where they’re at and if they’re trying to run outside. And so, I really like that. I was interested with ADT Self Setup because of the cost, and just being self-setup, and it was easy to do. And I needed it ASAP, so it was overnighted to me. And the process setting it up was pretty self-explanatory. You just had to make sure that the apps were downloaded and that you had your Bluetooth on, and you sync them. And then they work.
The wonky part of it was the window and the door sensors. Some of the doors and windows were too deep-set. And they were off for a little while until I was able to get ahold of ADT to figure out why they weren’t connecting. And I had to bypass it the first night or two. But otherwise, it was good. I had no problem. And I had three cameras and four or five sensors installed, and it took me probably an hour to set everything up.
I don’t like that it doesn’t pick up stuff as often as I’d like. Some of the footage is too short. Somehow, it picks up the stuff I don’t want, but not really the stuff I’m looking for. The color and the picture are nice for the interior cameras. The outside doorbell and the window, the view is too narrow. I feel like it should be wider. It should have a bigger footprint to view, like 12 feet further to the left, and 12 feet further to the right, like a bigger scope. But I like that I can arm and disarm it from my phone.
And getting in contact with ADT representatives was horrible. There are too many prompts that aren’t relevant. There’s too much automation when you just need to talk to a person. The wait times have been over an hour with me for things that I needed, like just simple questions. The wait times are horrendous.
So, I’ve learned, because I’ve had to do it a couple of times now, to only call when I’m in the car because I know I’m gonna be on hold. So, I sit on hold while I drive. It’s really that bad. Their customer service is terrible, and that’s really my only issue.
The initial setup showed the wide sensor on the trim and the tiny sensor on the door, but when I got ahold of the representative, she walked me through switching the sensors around before sending a technician out. She told me how to take them off, reapply them, stick them closer together to avoid somebody having to come out. And we were able to fix it on the phone by just switching the sensors.
So, it fixed the problem. Then I was able to continue using my system 100% without having to set it and bypass anything because it wasn’t catching. Because at the time, it kept saying, “Front door open. Back door open.” But it wasn’t. It was just the sensor was not talking to the other sensor because it was mismatched. So, when she helped me, we matched them by switching the sensors around to make one stick out a little further. And it was good. It worked out well.
And so, I’m a single woman, and I only got it because I was in a domestic situation. And I got it out of fear. So, I feel very safe that I don’t have to pay attention anymore.
Thank you so much for the review and feedback. We appreciate you sharing this with us so we can improve.

The actual setup was simple and the quality is excellent. I have the ADT+ and Smart Home hub. The ADT+ sets the home hub to arm it and disarm it. The home hub is where cameras are added on to.
A week ago, I had added a person, but for some reason, the system kicked me out. I had to call back in to have the outside camera reinstalled. At first, they told me to hit the little button in the front of the outside camera, the Nest camera, but that was a mistake, because that was not where you hit the button at. It's the button on the back of the camera that you're supposed to press in and then you hear a ding sound like a melody sound. The tech rep called me back the next day and that's when I got everything set up and the other camera back online.

The performance of the system is good. The self setup process was really easy to do once I sat down and took the time to read the setup instructions. The only improvement that I could make is that the adhesive for my motion detector could be more. They always slam it and it pops off. So the adhesive needs to be better at being sticky.

I thought getting the wireless system would be a great idea, but I got to climb up there every other week to charge the batteries on the cameras. I can't keep doing that. I've been meaning to call ADT and tell them to stop taking the payment, but I hadn't even gone back up there to grab the cameras since we had this bad storm. I ain't even climbed back up there to get the cameras down to charge them up.
When the ADT guy came out, he drove up here from Macon, Georgia, and installed my system. He was on top of it. He wasn't a problem. He's been trying to help me. He called and checked on me. But I haven't had a chance to talk to him because I've been busy. Two weeks after I charged it, I got a notification on my thing saying it was using more power than normal.
When I first got the system, it took ADT a whole month to get it up and running. It was terrible. The last lady that worked with me got my system up and running within five minutes when everybody else kept telling me, "Oh, this person gotta call you. We're gonna call you. We're gonna call you, this, gonna do that." Everybody that called me didn't know what was going on until I got on the phone with this lady and she said, "Oh, this one button right here and you're up and running." I'm dissatisfied with ADT.

Setting up the system was fairly easy. I didn't personally do it, but it didn't appear to be that difficult to set things up. The instructions tell you exactly how to do it. I've liked the system, so far. It did get set off yesterday morning and I was surprised nobody called me. My ex-husband brought my kids home and I was still asleep. He didn't know the alarm was set. So they opened the door and it went off. I woke up and ran in there and turned it off. I thought that ADT would call whenever a door was opened from the outside and it set the alarm off. Other than that, I feel perfectly safe.

I’ve been a customer of ADT for a long, long time. 10 years. When ADT sold the system to me, they never told me it was going to be a self-setup. When I called them, they said it would cost me over 500 bucks to get this done. It was an extremely painful job to set up. There’s no helpline. When I tried to call people, it made me wait for hours altogether. And then ultimately, they still could not help me out and kept on talking about the old ADT system with the new system. They had no idea what they were talking about and so, I had to pay somebody to actually fix it.
I’m paying more for this with the updated tech, but there’s no difference with the old one in terms of the features.

I had Vivint and they keep upping the monthly rate. I also asked them about getting a camera for the door and upgrading my equipment. The last said, “Yeah, for 800 bucks.” I told her to go to hell. I said, “I'm dropkicking you guys. I'm calling ADT.” I called ADT and the guy told me that I could do a self-install. I did that, then I called Vivint back to cancel my service, and then she offered me a deal. She said they can give me this much service for cheaper than what I was supposed to be paying. It went from $26 to $31. At one time, it was $41. I kept having to call them to tell them it's too high.
During setup, the ADT rep knew a lot. He also told me, “You can do it. I sent the setup to my mom and she did it, and she's technically not inclined. If she can do it, it's very easy.” I went to YouTube, not realizing that once I went to set up with ADT on their app, it would show the same video. I did the setup over two days because first, I did the windows and the doors. I was reading about the camera because I didn't want to drill holes, and luckily, the rep sent me the one with the battery, because I told him I didn't have any wires. He was on point on that. I charged it up, bit the bullet, and watched the video. The setup was easy. The only problem I have is the door thing. I had to put a box under it to make the sensors even with each other.
I like having the camera because my son is going out of town and I'd like to be able to see who's at the door before I come downstairs. You can also talk to them through it. I've been waiting to yell at somebody like the Amazon people who drop it right off in front of my porch. The system is really good, although I had to turn off the alert when people walked by my house. When it alerted, my phone was going off, so I switched it over to packages. That way, if someone comes on the porch, it'll alert me.
The only thing now is I had a wall panel with Vivint, and I keep going to turn the alarm off from the wall. It's now over by my computer, a little round thing that, when you go near it, lights up so you can see the buttons. I don't know what all the symbols mean, so I use my phone to turn it off and on. With ADT, the bill doesn't go up. I've been telling people about it. I tell them I only owe 200-something dollars on the equipment, which is cool. They take a payment of $7.71 a month and I'm gonna pay that off because I don't like owing people. Overall, I feel safe with the ADT system.

Everything has been going well with ADT so far. I had ADT Blue before, and then it was just so bad. It was awful. And then I just moved and called to transfer the address. They offered me an upgrade, and I took it because I had tried to cancel it but they said I have a two-year contract. The thing I have now, the Google cameras, work perfectly, so I'm happy with everything now.
The setup was a little difficult at first, but I think it's because I still had the ADT+ account. So I had to make a whole new one. But after that, everything was pretty smooth. The overall quality and cost so far is pretty good. It's around 50 bucks a month.

I got the ADT package because we were offered a discount through our insurance. But we got a box full of almost $800 worth of equipment, and I'm only using two pieces of it. I have three water detectors that I'm not using because there's no place where water is going to leak in my house. I also didn't put the smoke alarm because I already have them.
My doorbell is a totally separate app under Google Home, and I could not get it to connect to the ADT base. I’m not too concerned with it since nobody comes in and out that door except for me and the delivery men. However, a coworker is also having the same trouble. If we recommend our clients to sign up for ADT and they have trouble with the doorbell as well, we have no way to help them. I even talked to customer service and he was totally confused as to what I was trying to do. We ended up hanging up on each other. It’s the only thing that is frustrating about my experience since everything was so easy to hook up.
I like being able to set the alarm with my phone if I forget to arm it before I leave the house. The mobile app is easy to use and it's probably the best part of it.

We were trying to get an alarm system 'cause we just moved here and didn't want to be without one. I want my family to be safe. I called ADT and they told us what they had to offer. Installation was difficult for us 'cause we didn't know. A man came out here and did it with no problem. He showed us what to do if we're having a problem with anything.
The system is good and I like it very much. I like that I can access the camera on my phone. I know when somebody comes because it lets me know even before somebody gets to the door. That's a good thing 'cause so much is going on in this world. It's very good to have and to stay on top of things. Everybody was telling me not to do it right now, but I told them that I've been feeling safe with it. We are very satisfied.

I had ADT few years ago, and so did my parents and my sisters. I went through a divorce and, because of how he was, I needed an alarm system. So, I called them back and I didn't have the money for them to come out and set it up, so we did the self-serve one. The setup process was very hard. And every time I needed a technician, I couldn't ever get one and they didn't ever call me when they were supposed to. So, I went months without the alarm even working because I couldn't get it working myself and couldn't get anyone to help me. I eventually switched finally to one where they come out and fix any problems I have. What I have now works great and everything is fine. ADT is good as long as it's not self setup.

My son recommended ADT to me because he had them at his home. My experience with them was okay. The gentleman came in and installed the cameras right and perfectly. But I just wish he explained the situation to me a lot more, by me being an older woman, as far as turning my cameras on and off and that I will be charged.
The more my camera monitors people, the more I'm being charged. Because what they explained to me was the monthly set rate. Then all of a sudden, my bill went from a set rate and then ended up being charged close to 200-something dollars. My camera is on because I work a lot, and it's monitoring anything and everything that walks past the house or near the house. And that bill, as far as the monitoring, is way more than what my actual bill was supposed to be. I just wish they would let me know that the longer my cameras are on all day, the more I'm gonna be charged, and explain to me the flat rate fee and how I’m gonna be charged monthly.
The representative was okay. He somewhat explained it. But all they did was charge this much, and I had to catch all of that myself. I don't deal with cameras and stuff. Then I would've known better than to let the sucker run all the time, especially when I'm at home. When I'm at home, I see what's going on at home. Only when I'm gone. I don't have a problem with it as long as they make sure that they mention to the people who are getting the cameras that they can control their cameras to turn them on and off. So the bill won't turn it from 100-something to 200-something.
I got it with one house, and then I went on to have it put at my mother's house. And I paid for both of those to make sure my mother's secure. I thought they charged me double. And then, they explained the situation to me. But I love that the camera picks up on everything. I will recommend it.

I love ADT. I've had ADT since 2019, but I didn't have the DIY. Then I set up another ADT alarm in my other property in Michigan, but I didn't know about the DIY then because I don't think it existed at that time. But then when I moved to Ohio for a short time at the rental house, that's when I discovered the DIY and I love it. The setup was very easy, especially if you're tech-savvy. Even though I know how to do it, it's always good to follow the instructions. It's very self-explanatory. You just get the base out of the box, you connect it, download the ADT+ app, make sure your base is connected, and then you start adding your sensors one by one and naming your sensors, too.
Functionality is the best. I have the Google, so I'll be like, "Hey, Google, arm away," and it'll arm it away. I can disarm it with Google. The quality is really good. It's better than going into an app, putting your code in, or going to the keypad or the base. I think that's the best part of the DIY setup. It's not like the Xfinity sensors because I used to have that years ago that the batteries go low. These sensors are very well adaptable to weather change and it's really good.

The system has performed as it should and the app is easy to navigate. I like how advanced their devices are. The home part on it has the numbers on it and I can arm and disarm it from my apps. Also, the few times I called, I thought the reps were attentive and they got down to issues.

I have issues and complaints with them, because I just got a new service and I got a Google Nest doorbell, which is a pain in the butt for me because I have to take it out every day, and I have to charge it every day. And they said if I could hardwire it, I don't have to charge it.
And so, I paid my electrician, and he ordered the adapter. He connected the adapter, and we're still losing the battery. The battery will never charge. We still have to bring it inside to charge. So, it was a waste of money. But thank God, because I have my surveillance cameras already outside. I put it for mom so she can know who's outside, because I cannot depend on the doorbell, because it’s dead.
The next thing was they promised me that they're gonna send me the signboards that say I have ADT service, but I haven't gotten it yet. It's been almost a month. And lastly, they had a problem with the lock. But finally, they changed the lock, and then it's working, which I appreciate.
So, I heard about ADT DIY online. And they said they were gonna give me a discount. They have a lot of things going on. There's a new board, and I never see the digital board. They just gave me the one base, and that's it. They don't give me any display. And then we have to lock and unlock with the phone, which I like because I don't have to run to my screen.

We've been ADT customers for eight years and their service has been pretty good up until recently. We moved to a new area, so we decided to do self-setup. Previously, we would just do the actual panel one that's connected to the house and we did that four different times. Then they told us that they have the Self Setup one, so they convinced us to go ahead and switch to that. We did that last year, then we moved back in December.
When we relocated to the new home and we initially set up the system, you have to pull the tab to activate the little tabs that are in the back of the sensors and everything was fine with that. But when we moved to our current home, the tab was no longer there so we cannot get the sensors to pair at all. I talked to customer service and they said we have to buy new ones. That's ridiculous seeing that I only had it for a year. Then the lady that I spoke to told me that our warranty expired. And it was less than a week. So, I was very dissatisfied, because we spent so much money with them that I think they should just be giving us the sensors. She said they were $14 a piece but I didn't want to buy them. I didn't damage everything and I didn't do anything but unmount them. They were working perfectly fine at our old house.
There's got to be some sort of grace period that she should have offered me. We purchased two homes seven years ago and we bought the full system. We did the cameras, all the door sensors, all the window sensors, and on our two homes that we purchased, we did the smoke alarms as well. So it was sucky that she didn't really care. Right now, I'm not even using the system because I don't have time to call and fight them about it. My kids are sick and I got a lot going on.

It's not the base's fault though. I have internet through my phone provider, and it doesn't work the best with the internet and it'll drop on and off the WiFi. Still, ADT should make a base with an ethernet connection so it's easier for it to stay connected to the different types of WiFi. Other than that, I like ADT. On the Saturday when I just moved into my place, someone broke into my house while I went to get my U-Haul full of things. They took the little bit I had brought and so I got ADT. I have a base, the motion detector, a few sensors, and a Nest camera. When they first came out, they sent someone to set it up and it went wonderfully. But shortly, a few days after, the motion detector, which I got on a Tuesday, was false-alarming by Thursday. I was at work, then the system said someone had broken in. I left work and went back home because now I'm panicking. I'm like, “Somebody came now and took my stuff.” The system false-alarmed for two days every hour. On the first day, it was every seven minutes after the hour. On the second day, it was doing a false alarm every 23 minutes after the hour.
We did an at-home service. They sent me a link, we did a phone call, and they wanted to see the monitor. They were like, “It could be user error,” and I was like, “How? I'm literally not even home and I'm the only one who stays there. If you guys open it up and see the activity, you'll see how often this is happening.” I also said, “I get paid hourly and it's not a good feeling to have to leave my job, go back home, check it out, and call the police to go in with me because they have come and left by the time I make it home.” There was also nothing offered, no saying sorry that it happened or taking half off my credit. It was only, “Looks like you got a faulty motion detector. We'll send somebody out.”
Saturday comes for them to send a second tech to replace the motion detector. As soon as the tech walks in my threshold, he's telling me how I should have gotten the extended warranty, and that this visit is easily gonna cost $200. I said, “It hasn't been seven days since I've had service.” He also didn’t do what the first tech did. The first tech named everything, like the living room camera, patio window sensors, and patio door sensor. He also put a kitchen motion detector. This second tech didn't do any of that. He just threw things up, switched them out, left, and then sent me a DocuSign. The DocuSign was charging me $225 for this service of the man coming out.
I called ADT immediately. They said that they would take care of it and there wouldn't be any price. There's no such thing as an extended warranty, but there's an extended care plan, and I was signed up for that. Still, not even a month later, I get this bill. It's telling me I'm past due on this $225 for them coming out. But by this time, they had it taken care of because when I paid my bill, I just paid the normal bill. Also, the system has been better. I plan on moving, so I plan on keeping it. It does make a big difference in how you feel. The monthly charge could be a little cheaper, but I understand the charge for the equipment. I would definitely recommend them.

I purchased the system and a technician came out to install it for me. He was here for quite a while on a Thursday. Then on Friday, my whole system went totally dead. It was horrible. It wouldn't work. I had to call back ADT and then I talked to another technician. We were FaceTiming because he wanted to see what was wrong. So, the first technician that actually came out did something totally wrong, just threw everything up. Somebody else had to come back out. The first guy wired my panel to my old system, and they said they were very surprised that it didn't blow out the transmission. The technician called his boss and told him exactly what I told him happened. But he didn't have what he needed.
He had to come back on a Tuesday, and it was Christmas Eve. I told him, "Hmm. I don't think that you're gonna come on that day." They called me at work and told me that they weren't gonna come out on Tuesday. They were gonna come out on a Wednesday or Thursday. I stayed at home and waited. Then I called and said, “Somebody was supposed to come.” They said, "Oh, we don't know what happened. Oh, something happened. He had an emergency." So, he didn't come out. But I happened to call after sitting here all day and I realized at 5 o'clock, nobody came. When the guy came the next day, he told me, "No. It wasn't me." I had a lot of problems with ADT. I can't dim the light on the keypad. It stays lit. Also, the motion sensor fell off. So we went to the store and bought some more Velcro and stuck it up ourselves.
When the first technician came out and installed the system, we went through everything and he told me I was paying $44. But when I spoke to a nice young lady, she explained to me, "No. Because you got the system, you finance the system, you're gonna pay $44 a month until you pay off the system." She told me that for the services, I was gonna pay $54. The second guy that came out was really good. They wanted to send back the first guy but I told them that I didn't want him to come back in my house again.

I had the old command system. This was an upgrade from that older command system. The setup was simple. It was getting everything out of the box, pulling the tabs and connecting everything and sticking it to the wall. I got a bunch of devices set up. Everything took a couple of hours. The biggest problem is I didn't realize it until after I got the equipment. I'm a disabled person and I'm blind, and I thought the base station had buttons. It was all touch. I can't use the keypad and the buttons. There are only two things I can use, the fob, which I have to have the keys and make sure I bring the fob along, or I have to have the app, which means the phone has to be charged and working and I have to pull up the app and whatever else.
Other than being transferred from department to department, ADT Self Setup said there's nothing they can do and I'm stuck with the existing system. The setup is easy. But the customer service experience that I've had has been miserable. I got the system because I travel a lot and I wanted to be aware if or when someone came in my house or what was going on in my house. The system allows me to do that. But I have to have a phone to do anything with the system. If for whatever reason I step out and forget my phone and the system arms, can't get back in my house.
I can't get out of the contract. It was end of December when I got it set up and ADT said, "There's a six-month guarantee, but only if you're having problems with the system." I called and said, "I can't use it. It's not accessible. They told me, "No, that's not a problem with the system. The system is working as intended." I've reached out. I got it escalated to somebody and they reached out and said the same thing. I'm very unhappy with ADT.

The reps called and told me about ADT. They told me that I would be on a trial for a month and I said, ”Fine.” When the technician came, he did what he had to do. I told him, “I do not want the bell, don't want to go on the door. I don't need that.” He said that was a gift and that I was gonna get a screen. I said, "A screen? I thought it was just a camera hook-up on my phone, that I could see it on my phone anywhere I am." He said, no and that I was gonna get a screen. It's like a tablet. The way he put it up on everything, and then he put a white box on the other bedside table, which I was blind to that, I did not know anything about this thing because nobody walked me through anything. He did walk me through the tablets and then said if it went off, I could just scroll it and I would get it back.
When the system was giving a problem, I called ADT and the lady that I talked to was very nasty and rude. So I told her, “You know what? Leave it alone.” She told me that I had to pay $95 if the technician called. But I told her that I was not gonna pay and that I would like to speak to management. I spoke to somebody and they said they waived it. When the guy came and set up everything, he told me that I was on a one-month trial. It started on the 18th of last month. So I said, “Okay. If you call me before the 18th, that's fine.” But after you pass over the trial, you should make sure to call those people a week before the 18th. When I talked to a gentleman, I told him that the technician told me that I was on a 1-month trial, and it was on the 18th. But the gentleman told me, “No, it's two days.” I said. “What?”
If that was the case and if that guy they told me it was just two days, I would never take it. So I called back ADT, and they said they cannot take it back. The screen is mine. I said, “I didn't know that." Nobody told me that the screen was mine. I thought it was just the camera. I wasn't looking for a screen because I get a box with fire and a doctor that I could call alarm. He asked me if I needed any of the camera on my windows. I told him that I didn't need those. First of all, I don't want to give anybody my code so I don't need the camera on the door. I don't get anything for the door. It did not touch anything for the door.
I was also told by the lady rep that if I break the contract, I have to pay $3,000. But I did not sign any contract, and they never told me that it was a contract. They said it was a trial. I started to cry because I'm 73 years of age, retired, and not working. Where am I going find $3,000? Then I asked, “How much must I pay a month?” She said around $60. I asked, “For what? She told me it was for the screen and to see who's coming in. I said, "Fine." But I did not sign any contract.
I called ADT back and got nice lady. She said what she should do is get in touch with the electrician who came and did it, and find out what is the problem. It's always giving a problem that it blacks out when I call. I just rest it. So she sent somebody early one day, and I said, “You know what I did? I unplugged it and I put it back in the socket and I'm getting what I'm supposed to get.” That person said, “You don't want me to still look?" I said, "If you want to, but to me it don't make no sense.” ADT said I've to come up with $1,000 for the screen.
I cry because these people tricked me and it's not nice. I would never introduce anybody to ADT. I know they said they cannot take back anything. I have to keep it and I have to pay for the service that I am not using. It's not fair for me. But I couldn't find $3,000 in this day and time. But that lady boosted me up today. She was so sweet. She explained everything to me like when you have a child and you're teaching the child A, B, C, D. I told her, “Thank you so much and I appreciated you.” She tried all of her best.

The product works. Just the specialists should be more focused on the customer's needs, and not so much on making a sale. I was looking to get things started right away. I don't like to talk on the phone a lot, so, being able to see the product and getting the price right up front and not having to go through all the extra rigmarole was what sold me on it. But definitely, someone of my house size should not be self-service. So, for ADT, if you see a customer purchasing something that will not help, let them know.
Setting it up was horrible because it doesn't work on all providers. I wasn't given any internet specifics. I had to pay a contractor twice to come out, but he couldn't install them because I couldn't get them up and operate it, so I went to T-Mobile. It took T-Mobile to tell me that the doorbell wasn’t gonna work on the network, so I had to go with a different provider. And it worked. But that whole process could have been a lot better if I had that information up front ‘cause that's very important, especially when you're doing self-setup.
Performance wise, it’s doing well. I did call back, and the gentleman was very knowledgeable and helped me out with the functionality. My alarm had gone off one night and I didn't hear it. My brother had to wake me up. I have a 5,000 square foot house, and I shouldn’t have gone with self-setup, so I ended up ordering another base to go in my bedroom.
And with self-serve, what they don’t tell you is that the battery-operated was just for the video, and that you will not be able to hear the doorbell because it’s not wired in. You only hear the doorbell on the outside. Also, I thought I was saving money upfront but it really is not, because eventually, when it's cold outside, I've had to take the cameras off three times to recharge them because the cold air was draining the battery. One of my cameras right now is not even working ‘cause I have to wait for the contractor to come out and remove it, and they wanted to charge me $1,000. That’s astronomical and I'm not happy about that part.

They sent someone out to set it up. It was right before Christmas and it was great. The guy who came was really helpful, and professional. He explained everything really clearly. He was nice and my three-year-old liked him. She doesn't like everybody. So, that's a reason to recommend. The system is very easy to use.

ADT was the company they recommended in my subdivision and I had to go with them. The setup is so easy. I called them and transferred. The alarm is working great, it’s perfect. The only thing is the mobile app. When I log in, I have to close the app. So when I'm logging trying to arm my system, it's not gonna work unless I close the app and reopen it again to start focusing to what I need. Otherwise, it's a good service.

ADT was the best option according to my research online and what everyone said, so I got ADT. There were some security issues in my neighborhood. And I knew that many people that I've known and their parents have had ADT. Their representative was very nice, and really easy to negotiate with.
The installation was very easy. I also work in technology, so it wasn't necessarily too difficult for me. But I could see it being somewhat difficult for others. And the overall quality so far is good. I haven't had any issues yet.
I guess the only negative with ADT would be its cost. It is pretty expensive.

I learned about ADT during their Black Friday sale, which advertised a 60% discount. We decided to take advantage of this offer. The initial sign-up process was conducted over the phone. However, we've encountered several issues since then. Initially, we were informed it was a one-time payment, but we are now being charged twice monthly for ADT services plus an additional amount for something else. This was quite disappointing, as we didn't receive all the products we'd ordered either. When we contacted them about this billing discrepancy, they informed us that since the 30-day period had elapsed, cancellation would result in a hefty fee.
We decided to continue with the service because canceling would have cost us 75% of what we'd pay by keeping it. Setting up the system was straightforward for my fiancé, and everything functioned well initially. However, we've had connectivity issues since then, particularly with the 30 days of unlimited video recordings. We spent hours on the phone but eventually resolved it by reinstalling all the apps.
If asked to rate ADT overall, I'd give them one star. Customer service, setup experience, and pricing also merit just one star from me, especially considering we're being charged for services that were supposed to be a one-time payment. We primarily use Google Nest through the Google Home app, not ADT's system.

I live in Reno, Nevada, and over time, I've dealt with both Vivint and ADT for home security systems. Initially, we were Vivint customers and satisfied for many years. However, after relocating, we decided to try ADT, primarily because one of their sales representatives convinced us of their superior service. We signed up and stayed with ADT for five years, and during the first few years, I absolutely loved their service—it was exceptional.
Unfortunately, about three months ago, our experience drastically declined. We had issues transferring our service while selling our house, which led to numerous frustrating calls. I was consistently transferred multiple times or even hung up on, despite usually receiving courteous service. These negative experiences have been incredibly disappointing, especially since we are still tied to ADT due to contractual obligations, and not happy at all.
Regarding equipment, the earlier ADT systems we had were excellent, and their promotion made it worthwhile. However, ADT has since shifted to a do-it-yourself system that hasn't impressed me as much. We decided to get our equipment directly from Google products rather than through ADT's financing option. The previous setup, directly wired into our home, was preferable to the current hub-based system.
When comparing ADT to Vivint, and considering changes in technology since we used Vivint in 2007, I believe the Google system currently available through ADT is better, albeit not under ADT's direct control. It seems ADT no longer uses its own brand and has switched to selling Google products, which you can purchase independently.
Overall, my recent interactions with ADT have left me quite dissatisfied, specifically over the last few months. Although their app and system previously impressed me, my current sentiments are relatively negative.

I recently set up my home security with ADT Self Set Up after moving into my apartment. They were quick to respond and offered me a good deal, which I accepted eagerly. My overall experience has been smooth; I haven't received any alerts indicating unauthorized entry to my home, which provides some peace of mind.
The only concern I encountered is that one of my plants seems to have been trimmed while I was away, which gave me a little bit of a concern even though there's no evidence from the ADT system showing any entry. I haven't interacted with ADT's sales representatives or customer service much since my initial purchase, so I can't comment on their support beyond my initial dealings.
I have pondered whether there could be someone possibly jamming the WiFi signal since the plant incident, but this is purely speculative. Overall, despite my concern, I would rate my experience as quite positive due to the system's reliability, and give it a 4.

I decided to try out ADT because I'd known about it, and when I was searching for a new system, it was between ADT and Guardian, both familiar to me. I had previously used Guardian and was with Xfinity before this. What really drew me to ADT was a special deal they had with State Farm in Maryland, which included some extra equipment incentives, and that, along with the pricing, convinced me.
Setting up the ADT system was extremely easy, even though I'm an IT professional, the setup videos and instructions were clear and straightforward. It was so user-friendly that my wife, who isn't tech-savvy, could assist me with it. Once set up, the system went into practice mode, which allowed us to experiment without worrying about false alarms. The overall functionality has been excellent, comparable to other systems I've used over the years.
I particularly appreciate the ADT app, which lets me monitor the system remotely. It allows adding multiple users with their own codes, which is useful to know who disarmed the system. I find this feature very secure and convenient.
I would definitely recommend ADT to friends, family, or neighbors, highlighting the ease of setup, the ability to monitor via the app, and the added security of multiple user codes. The customer service has been stellar, and I rate it a 5, as well as the pricing. While I haven't used the website, the app provides everything I need, and it works fantastically.

I first heard about ADT Self Setup on Facebook. What interested me was the ability to control everything from my phone, allowing me to monitor what's happening even when I'm away. However, my experience has had a few challenges. While the system's functionality is generally okay, I've encountered some glitches, particularly with video lag when viewing prerecorded clips. The video pauses and it takes several attempts to get it playing again.
Interacting with ADT representatives was quite problematic. I had initial expectations that were unmet because I asked for a specific type of 360 dome camera, which was mentioned on Facebook. However, I received a completely different package. Despite multiple calls and talking to seven different people, it took about three weeks to get a definitive answer, only to find out they do not offer the camera I requested. Ultimately, I was forced to accept a system different from what I initially wanted because they continued charging me regardless.
If a friend were looking for this kind of setup, I'd say it's an excellent system for what it does, but since it wasn't my preferred choice, I am not fully content. In terms of security, it performs as promised, alerting me whenever someone is near my cameras, which is great. But my overall experience with their customer service was poor due to the frustration I faced in reaching a resolution.
Regarding the website, I found it lacking because it doesn’t allow me to view my camera feeds in full screen mode, which I can only do through a separate app. Despite these issues, I'm doing my best to make the system work for me.

I had an extremely frustrating experience with ADT Self Setup. They sent an installer to set up the system in our rural area, but unfortunately, he never tested it. Despite having over 11 hours of phone calls with them, I'm still facing issues. They charged my credit card, and I'm continuously being passed from one department to another without any resolution.
The installation process was supposed to be straightforward, with the promise of free installation for two cameras. However, the installer left without checking the system, and it never worked. I even ended up having to wire in a camera myself despite being charged for it. As an electrician, I was able to do it, but that's not the point.
The key issues were the poor cell signal and low upload speed. The installer should have checked these before installing, as our location did not meet the necessary 6.5 upload speed required for the cameras. Despite the potential of the system being great, it was rendered useless due to these oversights. Their customer service personnel were friendly during interactions, but ultimately I received no effective support or solutions. My frustration led me to involve my credit card company, who credited my account after I escalated the issue.
While I do believe the system could work well, it's crucial that ADT ensures proper conditions for installation and follows up with effective customer support to avoid such distressing situations.

I had previous experience with ADT from another state, so when I relocated and needed a security system, I thought of them. Initially, an authorized dealer approached me, but I wasn't comfortable with their credentials and offerings. I decided to contact ADT directly instead. The salesperson I spoke to over the phone was polite and did what he needed to get me as a customer. However, I was frustrated that I ended up having to pay for the equipment, unlike the dealer's offer of free equipment.
In terms of service quality, I did face some issues. For instance, I needed someone to come out and reset the cameras because I couldn't do it myself due to back issues, and this incurred additional costs. Considering these factors, I would advise others to conduct thorough research to ensure ADT meets their specific needs. While ADT is not the worst option, I believe they could improve. My overall experience with them would be a 3.5 out of 5.

My experience with ADT Self Setup has not been good because I've called numerous of times, but nobody could help me with my system. When the girl helped me, the system started to work, but now, it's not doing much. The battery keeps dying. Another thing is if somebody comes out, they ring the bell okay. It alerts me when somebody is ringing my doorbell because I have the Google Mini hooked to it. However, when I try to turn the camera on, it’s gonna stay on for about 5 to 10 seconds, then the screen goes black. Every now and then, it'll come on to where I can see clearly, but most of the time, it just turns black when I turn it on. I can see somebody moving around, but I can't see who the person is.
I've complained to them about the camera and the lady said, "Oh, it's not supposed to stay on." I have another camera and I can look at it for as long as I want to without it shutting off. I said, "I might need y'all to send me another one.” I haven't heard anything else from ADT. All in all, I got a bum deal. I spent $200 and the system is not working the way it should. I reached out to them multiple times, but their response was unsatisfactory, and escalation efforts weren't successful as they never called back.
During the setup, the technician did most of the installation work, but he unplugged my deep freezer, which led to my food spoiling. Unfortunately, this issue went unnoticed for weeks. I had to file a claim afterward. Moreover, using their app has been frustrating; I encountered issues with my garage camera constantly going offline, and even after requesting a technician, the problem persists due to the technician's inexperience. I purchased the ADT self-setup system so my parents could have access to it. It's intended to be a Christmas gift for my parents who are in their 70s, but unfortunately, neither of them have been able to get access on their phones and they haven't been able to use it. I had an installer come and install the system, but he did not clearly set it up all the way for everyone. He set it up on my phone and then explained he had to go to another appointment. There was a subsequent attempt by a different technician and she got it reset back up on my phone because it wasn't set up completely, but she couldn't figure out how to set it up on either of my parents' phones. My dad's phone was outdated and while I tried to send my mother's phone a request, she couldn't figure out how to accept it.
Personally, I find the system easy to use and navigate, but I don't set or need an alarm. All I need to do is have things monitored. With my parents being as old as they are, they have to watch my kid when I go to work for the second shift and I don't want anything to happen and have my kid be stuck. I reached out to ADT, and while the technicians had great customer service, the issue remains unresolved. The second technician tried to help, but the first technician was in too much of a rush. He got it halfway going, then ran out and didn't reply to my text. The service works fine on my phone, so the product itself seems competent. However, considering the difficulties and the cost, which I find high compared to other similar services, I'm not entirely satisfied.
I would rate the overall product highly, as it works well on my phone—definitely a 5 in terms of functionality. However, given the inability to get the system working for its intended users, my overall experience is frustrating. I’m not gonna be happy until they get results. The pricing, in my opinion, deserves a 1 because it's considerably higher than what others I know are paying. My sister pays $40 for the entire year to monitor her house and ADT charges way too much compared to what she says. Lastly, the website and online tools function without issues, so I'd rate that a 5.

I became interested in ADT Self Setup due to a promotion with State Farm and since it was more affordable than my previous service with Vivint, I decided to give it a trial run. However, I found the self-setup system to be far less functional and user-friendly compared to what I had before. The base system was confusing, and much harder to use, which wasn't ideal for someone accustomed to a more streamlined setup. The customer service experience was also a significant letdown. I had issues with promises made over the phone not being fulfilled, like not receiving promised items. It felt like they weren't committed to keeping me as a customer, which ultimately led to my decision to return to Vivint.
Regarding system performance, one major drawback was the lack of an alert feature for when the front door opens. However, my kit was missing the outdoor camera, which was clearly stated to be included. I contacted them the next day since they were closed when I discovered the issue. They assured me they would send the camera along with an extra sensor. After waiting a few days, only the sensor arrived, with still no camera.
I contacted them again, and they repeated their promise, but the camera never arrived. After the third attempt, I requested a refund because I was paying for incomplete equipment. I chose ADT Self Setup after a quick Google search, primarily because their pricing was more attractive compared to others. My initial interaction with the sales team was good, but the second interaction, which was when we had issues setting up the system, was subpar. I faced issues with the app wherein it wouldn't load and appeared blank. I deleted and reinstalled the app, then when we called, it magically started working again, but the support team's response was not very helpful. They could be a bit more sensitive and aware to the frustration of the issue.
Coming from Permar, I found ADT's user dashboard less appealing. It's a countertop hub system, consuming space, and it needs to be accessible so people can enter the code when they walk in the door. I would like to see that improved. The user dashboard lacks the sleek, minimalist design I was accustomed to. An option for professional installation for a fee would have been appreciated as well; I didn't realize the setup was self-installation until after receiving the materials.
Despite these concerns, I would rate the security features a 5 as they meet expectations. However, the online tools, like the app and website, only merit a 2 due to their functionality issues.
Overall, I'd rate ADT Self Setup at a 3 due to these mixed experiences.

I recently set up ADT due to security needs at my new place. My previous experience with ADT Self Setup led me back to them. When I first called in to get the service, the person that provided me all the information did not give me all of the details as far as why I was paying that money upfront and that I had to turn around and make another payment three days later. In terms of setting up the system, I managed it myself. At first, I reached out to schedule an appointment for them to assist me, but I was able to figure it out, although the instructions for the front doorbell weren't as helpful as they could have been. The rest was straightforward.
Regarding functionality, the system is okay but could improve in the app's historical video review feature. I have indoor and outdoor cameras and the app requires selecting specific dates and individual cameras, which isn't user-friendly if I want to check multiple cameras at once. If I select both, it's not pulling up any videos. However, I appreciate the feature that lets me see and communicate with someone at my front door through the camera. It's very helpful in terms of watching around my home when someone is at my door and I don't know who that person is, instead of just opening up my door.
Overall, I'd rate ADT a 4 out of 5. It provides decent security and peace of mind, allowing me to monitor my home, especially when I'm away. I can go back into the app and review to make sure there's no one trying to get into my home or see what's going on inside of it. For anyone considering ADT, I'd say it's a valuable tool for home surveillance, offering visibility and control over who approaches your home.

I had a really frustrating experience with ADT Self setup. Setting up the system was fine, but trying to cancel my monitoring service was a hassle. They charged me for two months I didn't want or need. I originally bought the system, set it up myself, and paid upfront because they claimed there was no contract required. They started charging me earlier than expected, so I ended up paying for useless service for a month. When I attempted to cancel on January 14th, they informed me I'd have to pay until February 12th. Overall, I paid for two months of service I didn't want and don't have anything positive to say about the company. I'm very dissatisfied and wouldn't recommend ADT to my worst enemy. They stole a bunch of money from me.

I have had a rather disappointing experience with ADT Self Setup. Initially, I chose to return to ADT because I believed they were a reliable company, having previously used their services. However, the current system has been very unsatisfactory. The volume of the system is not loud enough, which poses a significant issue, as I need it to be audible because of my husband’s Alzheimer's condition. Despite having technicians attempt to resolve this issue, the volume remains inadequately low, especially when I'm in another room.
Since the initial setup in July, which I transferred when moving, the system's functionality has not improved. Additionally, the cost of the service is considerably higher than it was before, and given the subpar performance, I do not feel it's worth the expense. I've also encountered unexpected charges, which add to the financial strain.
I would rate my experience as a 1 because I am very dissatisfied with the service, and unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, I have not yet had the opportunity to contact ADT about the billing issue.

I recently had a challenging experience with ADT. I previously used their services at my old home for about three years and didn't face any issues. However, when I moved to my new residence, the process was quite different. I requested the same system I had at my previous home, but I faced several hurdles with the self-installation process. I haven't been able to complete the installation due to problems with my doorway, requiring brackets that were sent to me. It feels like I'm doing too much of the installation work myself, which is far from ideal.
If it wasn't past the cancellation period, I would have reconsidered my decision to continue with ADT. I needed help, and ADT mentioned it would cost $400 to send someone over, which was frustrating. I'm having trouble with the Nest Plus system and the speaker. Despite attempts at virtual assistance, I've faced too many issues. It's a stark contrast to the hassle-free experience I had before.
The customer service representatives have been fine, acting within their policy limits. I'd rate the representatives a 3 out of 5, but the company's policies would get a 0 from me. I expressly requested the same system as before for security reasons, yet the new AT Plus doesn't offer the same functions. For instance, it doesn't announce which door is open, which I found particularly useful in my previous system. Overall, this is not the level of service or product quality I expected from ADT.

I recently had the ADT Self Setup system installed in my home, thanks to my son-in-law who recommended it and took care of the installation process. My interactions with ADT have been limited as he handled all communication with the company on my behalf. However, my experience with the system itself has been positive, and I feel satisfied with its performance. I haven't encountered any issues and find the service reliable.
I haven't had the opportunity to use ADT's online tools or website, so I can't comment on those features. Overall, I'm pleased with the setup, and I rate my experience highly. I can't express any complaints about it so far, and I appreciate the system's security features and pricing.

I recently moved into a new house and chose ADT self-setup for our security needs after my wife did some research. We wanted a reliable security system to monitor our home while we were away, especially given recent family circumstances.
The ADT system has been excellent for us. It's incredibly convenient to monitor everything from temperature control to real-time camera feeds all in one place. I have two more cameras to set up, which require some additional effort as I need a drill to install them on brick, but otherwise, the setup process was straightforward and easy.
My favorite features are the thermostat and the cameras, with the latter being particularly invaluable for keeping an eye on things. Security is crucial for me, especially because I also have cameras set up for my mom's place now that she's widowed.
While we haven't interacted much with ADT representatives, my wife did need some assistance with door sensors, and the support we received was excellent and helpful. Contacting the representatives was simple, ensuring everything was set up as needed.
Overall, the ADT self-setup has provided us with a strong sense of security and peace of mind, and I would highly recommend it to friends and family.

I recently received a self-setup system from ADT, and the experience has been quite frustrating. Although they claimed it would be easy, that has not been the case. We received the system over a month ago and, despite spending valuable time setting it up, only some components are functioning. We followed all the instructions provided by ADT, jumping through hoops to get everything working, but many components still don't work.
I've repeatedly reached out to ADT for support, but the issues persist. Even trying to cancel the service has been a challenge since I can't seem to get a hold of someone who can process this cancellation properly. It's frustrating to be paying for equipment like cameras that we can't even utilize.
I still plan on attempting to resolve things with the phone number provided by Shirley from Consumer Affairs and hope it helps. However, this ordeal is damaging the perception of ADT's customer service. It's disheartening to see money being taken out while I can't fully use the system.
In terms of rating, I'd give the ADT self-setup system a 1 out of 5. Their sales agents' customer service also gets a low score due to their inability to provide effective assistance. Similarly, the pricing is unjustifiable given the dysfunctional product - also rated a 1. For these reasons, I wouldn't recommend this system based on my experiences.

I initially learned about ADT through a flyer in a welcome package from the post office. My interactions with their sales representatives were primarily over the phone when discussing the products I wanted to purchase. Unfortunately, I encountered an issue with my transition from a home to an apartment. Despite informing the representative of my leasing situation, I ended up being misled about the contract. I was sold a system I couldn't take with me, and it was misrepresented as a three-year contract, even though I was only in the home for two years. They initially wanted to charge me an additional $700 for the extra year. Thankfully, when I spoke to a second representative, they waived the charges as I wanted to continue using the security system in my new apartment.
All the representatives and technicians I interacted with were very helpful. However, I feel ADT could better inform customers about their products, particularly the portable systems versus those that remain fixed in a house. One downside was discovering that my living room camera was not compatible with the new system in my apartment, and I had to buy a new one. Now, I have a mix of systems: a Ring camera, ADT system, and a Google Nest camera outside my apartment.
Overall, I would rate my experience with ADT as positive due to the helpful customer service, but there's room for improving clarity on product options for renters.

ADT is widely recognized, hence why I chose them for my home security. The setup experience was mixed. A representative briefed me on the services, but the final bill was higher than initially stated and the sales representative was not as helpful after the initial setup; it felt like the issues were my problem to sort out. While I appreciated the features, notably the phone app, I found the overall cost too expensive. Overall, I would rate my experience with ADT as average.

I have been a customer of ADT for over 10 years, but my recent experience with their system has been disappointing. We relocated, and I specifically requested the same security system we had before. Instead, they sent a completely different system that is quite inferior. The new system lacks a screen, doesn't indicate which door or window is open, and provides no information when the alarm goes off. It's frustrating not knowing which sensor is triggered, and I have to run around the house trying to figure it out. The customer service was initially supportive, but they have since only given excuses, insisting the new system is better when it clearly isn't. It's clear the changes benefit them more than the customers. The service's cost remains the same, yet the quality has diminished.

I had a very disappointing experience with ADT. I've been a customer for over ten years, including in one of my commercial properties. Recently, I contacted them because I wanted to reactivate my home security system. Initially, a salesperson quoted me a price, claiming that I'd be getting a 60% discount on new equipment. However, when the technicians arrived to set up the system, they informed me the total cost would actually be $4,000, which was far above the original quote.
Feeling misled, I still proceeded because I needed the security system. Unfortunately, issues didn't stop there. The screens in my house are incredibly bright and won't turn off, despite setting them to sleep. This has been problematic, especially because the screen lights up my living room and causes issues with my fish tank. Despite contacting ADT about these issues, I received no follow-up.
Though the technicians who installed the system were excellent and stayed late to complete the job, the lack of communication and resolution for ongoing problems is unacceptable. As a business owner who knows the importance of customer relations, I'm very dissatisfied with ADT’s service. As of now, I would rate my experience with them as a one out of five stars due to poor customer service and misleading sales practices.

I recently moved to a new neighborhood and was uncertain about the security, so I decided to try ADT's self-setup service. The setup process was somewhat challenging. Without the proper tools, it was difficult to install the equipment, like mounting the camera at the back of my house. Additionally, I wasn't sure how to set up the codes for each of my kids to enter and leave the house. If I had all the necessary tools from the start, I believe it could have been done in a day. Despite these initial hiccups, the system is functioning well now. I have my front doorbell alarm and I appreciate the feature that allows me to see who's at my house even when I'm not there; it's reassuring to know what's happening around my home when I'm away.

We got three cameras from ADT. The overall cost is very reasonable. From what my husband was told and what he told me, it was gonna be like $30 a month or $40 a month. The salesperson that gave him the sale explained things to him, and he explained it to me. I have not yet set the system up. My husband tried, and then I tried but I had questions. Maybe I need to try it again. I know that the cameras we got are really good cameras. They're the Google cameras. I wanna do it right. I recently came across ADT Self Setup online, which piqued my interest and led me to purchase their system. The setup process was relatively straightforward, though there are still a few components that I haven't installed yet due to lack of time. For example, I'm still deciding where to place one of the keypad entries.
In terms of functionality, the system works fine although I'm still getting used to turning it on and off regularly. One of my favorite features is the app, especially because it integrates well with the Nest cameras I already own. This integration enhances the overall experience and is probably the best feature for me.
I'd rate the actual devices at a 4, whereas the customer service deserves a 5 based on the positive interactions I've had so far. It's a solid choice for an alarm system, and I'd recommend it as it's quite easy to set up, with the app being a particular highlight.

I chose ADT Self Setup after researching online for the best security system. My decision was primarily due to a concerning incident where I noticed someone at my window, which prompted me to enhance my home security.
The setup of the ADT system was straightforward, but there were issues with the information I received initially. I was told I would get a door camera, but it never arrived. When I contacted customer service, they informed me that incorrect information had been provided and expected me to pay out of pocket for the camera, which I was not willing to do.
In terms of functionality, so far, so good. The system works well, and I have no complaints. My favorite feature is the camera, as it provides notifications whenever someone leaves or opens a window. It allows me to see everything and communicate through the camera when I'm not home, which is particularly helpful with my kids.
While I would rate the system itself highly, the customer service experience could be improved significantly. Overall, the security system makes me feel safer and more comfortable in my home. I've already recommended ADT to my coworkers and continue to speak positively about its features.

I decided to go with ADT for our home security because they're so well-known, it felt like the natural choice. However, the self-setup experience was a hassle. As a trucker, my schedule is tight, and coordinating with my wife, who manages the home, became a challenge. The process was delayed, and there was some confusion due to miscommunication – they recorded my number instead of hers, which led to further delays. It took us about a month to get everything up and running.
Customer service was polite and professional throughout, but the self-setup system itself was frustrating. It would have been easier to have a technician come, but it was more economical to do it ourselves, which forced us into a challenging position. Being on hold for long periods didn't help, and the cost of having someone install it professionally was prohibitively expensive.
The ADT security features are good; I like how they're modernizing with updates, even though that requires frequent recharging. The sales and marketing process was straightforward, and we didn't encounter unexpected charges. The online tools are convenient but managing everything through an app or website feels a bit unnecessary at times.
I miss some features my dad had with his older ADT system – like the announcements when a window is opened that I found reassuring. Also, I preferred the wall-mounted control panel over the newer cylinder version. It would be great if they offered free installation for veterans or first responders as a gesture of gratitude for their service.
Overall, while the setup was cumbersome, I appreciate the customer service and the system's capabilities.

I recently had an unfortunate experience with the ADT self-setup service. Initially, a representative promised me a complete package which I was approved for. However, when the installer arrived, he stated that there was no such package in their system, despite my having the confirmation in an email. I was quite frustrated with their false advertising.
When I reached out to ADT to resolve this issue, I encountered a lot of runaround from various customer service representatives and supervisors. Till now, no one from their team has followed up with me about these concerns, even though I have raised them multiple times. I am currently stuck with the partial system that's been installed, which I didn't originally agree to, and I'm still making payments on it.
I initially heard about ADT's service when I called them directly for inquiries. However, this experience has been quite disappointing, as the service did not live up to the promises made during the sales process. I am looking forward to ADT reaching out to fulfill the promises outlined in my contract. Due to these issues and the lack of satisfactory resolution, I would rate my experience with ADT's self-setup as very poor.

I first got the ADT system installed with the help of their technician. I wanted sensors on my garage to protect my cars, which was my primary concern, but the installer incorrectly informed me ADT didn't offer such technology. Later, I found out that ADT does have those sensors, and I had to order a motion sensor for the garage separately.
Three days after installation, someone tried to break into my car in the driveway, but I received no alert or notification. I also wanted a system with floodlights, but I wasn't aware that ADT offered these. It wasn't presented as an option during the setup, although I've noticed my neighbors with ADT have them.
Overall, the system did not fully meet my needs because some features were not presented, and I received false information about others. The process of contacting ADT representatives is easy, but reaching the right person is difficult. I was transferred four times, spending around ten minutes with each, contributing to the unsatisfactory rating of 2.5 stars out of 5.

I heard about ADT Self Setup through an ad and the reps were very nice and patient when I made the purchase. The self-setup was fairly easy. It's just understanding the different dimensions and dynamics. It will be easier for people who are home-savvy as far as putting up things and taking things down. The instructions are clear. It's just the actual process of putting everything up. Even just for one of my cameras, I had to get someone else to mount it because I didn't know how to mount things. So, that was a little difficult. It’d be good if ADT was to offer for someone to come out to be able to do that or have it as an add-on, as a package for seniors or young people who don’t have knowledge on mounting things.
I've had the ADT Self Setup now in three different places. But we just put the cameras where they need to go. If we can mount them, great. If we can't, we figure something else out. But I like being able to know that I can get the equipment and set it up the same day because I don't have to wait for a technician to come out or have any wiring through my home. I could put the sensors on there, start the monitoring, and be good.
